<v Speaker 1>Hey, everybody, welcome to Game Breaking News with me Jeff Grub.
<v Speaker 2>Your host from giant bomb dot com. Thank you for
<v Speaker 2>tuning in.
<v Speaker 1>On this episode, we're gonna be talking about another major
<v Speaker 1>Xbox game, jumping to PS five and what is going
<v Speaker 1>on with Metroid Prime four. We have Sean Turboshan McDowell
<v Speaker 1>on the show, so it's going to be a good one.
<v Speaker 2>Let's get right into it with Sean McDowell. Sean, how
<v Speaker 2>are you doing?
<v Speaker 3>Good?
<v Speaker 4>Good Jeff, Happy Saint Patrick's day to you. Thanks for
<v Speaker 4>bringing in the only Irish person games media that you
<v Speaker 4>know to do the new with you today.
<v Speaker 3>I really appreciate it.
<v Speaker 2>That's right, I am.
<v Speaker 1>I think I have a tiny bit of Irish, but
<v Speaker 1>what much more Scottish?
<v Speaker 2>And I just couldn't think of a single other one.
<v Speaker 3>So what they're doing, you know, I think we think.
<v Speaker 1>We have enough here, like we're good. I think we've
<v Speaker 1>present here doing a good job. How you ben, Sean.
<v Speaker 4>I'm pretty good, Jeff, by the way, I want to say,
<v Speaker 4>I'm I'm happy to be one of the first few
<v Speaker 4>guests here on Game Breaking News, a show that's apparently
<v Speaker 4>completely different from Game Mess Moorings as I saw in
<v Speaker 4>one comm Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I don't know if that person watched the show.
<v Speaker 4>How much was the title, Like, how much was NBA
<v Speaker 4>Street Volume two kicking around the back of your head
<v Speaker 4>when you approve this.
<v Speaker 1>Title always just pretty much constantly, yeah, just making sure, Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>This is a game breaker. Someone said, like game breaking news.
<v Speaker 1>I'm like, well, that's got like so many like meanings
<v Speaker 1>in there that I enjoy.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, let's go for that. That one totally works. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, we've been up to you been playing keeping up
<v Speaker 1>on the latest releases in the video game industry.
<v Speaker 4>I have maybe you know, some of which we'll talk
<v Speaker 4>about in the near future here.
<v Speaker 3>I've also been playing.
<v Speaker 4>I talked about number one a little bit on BCR
<v Speaker 4>on Friday. Since fired up Crazy Taxi three.
<v Speaker 2>Oh okay, how.
<v Speaker 3>Much have you played Crazy Taxi three?
<v Speaker 2>Jos. I have not touched the triple yet exactly.
<v Speaker 3>Most people haven't.
<v Speaker 4>But I found out that people, you know, I talked
<v Speaker 4>about Sonka least recompiled being a really cool way to
<v Speaker 4>look regardless of the games quality, which we all know
<v Speaker 4>is not very high. The fact that game games are
<v Speaker 4>being preserved by the fans, you know, gaming histories not
<v Speaker 4>lost is very cool. Crazy Taxi three actually all those
<v Speaker 4>games as well. People have modeled the PC version to
<v Speaker 4>be much more modern and playing that game sixty fps,
<v Speaker 4>like even on Steam Deck and everything in native res.
<v Speaker 4>That might be the best Crazy Taxi experience. I might
<v Speaker 4>just send some kyles your way.
<v Speaker 3>It's cool.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I would like that. I've definitely have had some
<v Speaker 1>time with Crazy Taxi. It was never like the thing.
<v Speaker 1>I never fell in love with it the way some people did.
<v Speaker 1>But I bet if this is like the best version,
<v Speaker 1>I'm like, okay, I I could find something to truly
<v Speaker 1>fall in love here.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, you can a big one, like it's such a
<v Speaker 4>small thing, but the fact that you can you can
<v Speaker 4>boost in reverse gives you total control of your car
<v Speaker 4>at all times. Combined with the jump that they added,
<v Speaker 4>it's like, it's fun.
<v Speaker 3>It's great, Katie.
<v Speaker 2>Goodness sounds good, sounds excellent.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, we Uh, some new releases still come out, although
<v Speaker 1>I think you know, after a couple here, uh, it
<v Speaker 1>does seem like it might slow down a little bit.
<v Speaker 1>I suppose by the time we take that breath, uh,
<v Speaker 1>switch to will be like front and foremost in our
<v Speaker 1>minds because we'll be pretty close to that direct in
<v Speaker 1>a matter of weeks.
<v Speaker 4>You know, it depends on what you're into, because like
<v Speaker 4>if you're into RPGs and stuff, then there is like
<v Speaker 4>I have almost one thing on my calendar every day
<v Speaker 4>through through May, so.
<v Speaker 1>Right now there's still plun happening for sure. Let's explain
<v Speaker 1>what we do here though. Most weekdays, I Jeff Grub
<v Speaker 1>will help peace your gaming life back together. That includes
<v Speaker 1>breaking news and maybe even some of our own original reporting.
<v Speaker 1>For all these topics, I'll get the input of a
<v Speaker 1>bona fide expert who will make me look smart.
<v Speaker 2>If you're watching live on Twitch welcome.
<v Speaker 1>You can always listen to the show later on podcast
<v Speaker 1>feeds by searching for our game breaking news, or find
<v Speaker 1>therss on giant bomb dot com. You can also catch
<v Speaker 1>the show later with chapters and timestamps on YouTube.
<v Speaker 2>Hello YouTube.
<v Speaker 1>All right, we have a lot to get into, so
<v Speaker 1>let's break some gaming news, starting with Starfield on PS five,
<v Speaker 1>still not confirmed, but new evidence emerges.
<v Speaker 2>This is from Eddie McCoo at GameSpot.
<v Speaker 1>Bethesda's twenty twenty three RPG Starfield is not ruled out
<v Speaker 1>for PS five, but it also hasn't been announced for
<v Speaker 1>Sony system like some of Bethesdaes other games have, including Doom,
<v Speaker 1>The Dark Ages and Indiana Jones in the Great Circle. Now,
<v Speaker 1>a listing on Bethesda's moding website might suggest PS five
<v Speaker 1>edition of the game is coming. Reddit user dollar ninety
<v Speaker 1>nine man we shared a finding from YouTube user five
<v Speaker 1>to ten to Shaun who you know DeShawn who discovered
<v Speaker 1>that the Butth's the Creation Kit website for Starfield was
<v Speaker 1>updated with the PlayStation logo sitting alongside the logos.
<v Speaker 2>For pcn Xbox.
<v Speaker 1>However, the Starfield Creation Kit hub does not allow players
<v Speaker 1>to choose PlayStation as a platform in the filter, despite
<v Speaker 1>the logo appearing on one of the mods pages. It's
<v Speaker 1>possible to tweak or to tweak the URL to force
<v Speaker 1>the filter to show mods listed for PlayStation for period
<v Speaker 1>of time today and that was March fourteenth. This displayed
<v Speaker 1>one result for the mod listed for PlayStation. However that
<v Speaker 1>has since been removed. You know a couple of things here.
<v Speaker 1>This is a website that could just be incorrectly showing something.
<v Speaker 1>They would have these tags for PlayStation for the other
<v Speaker 1>games that do support mods on PlayStation, right, Sean, but
<v Speaker 1>this game's coming to PS five.
<v Speaker 2>It just is I always get coming to PS five.
<v Speaker 3>That's the thing.
<v Speaker 4>Not to give the speech again because I feel like
<v Speaker 4>it happens our time on this show. The console war
<v Speaker 4>is over, you know, like that's just the way things
<v Speaker 4>are now. And Microsoft's multi platform strategy involves PlayStation.
<v Speaker 3>That's what it is.
<v Speaker 4>So they're games, you know, whether it's after exclusivity period
<v Speaker 4>or it's a multiplayer game showing up day one, potentially
<v Speaker 4>their games are going to show up on PlayStation. That's
<v Speaker 4>just how we're doing things nowadays. And so yeah, it
<v Speaker 4>doesn't surprise me at all that Starfield would be coming over.
<v Speaker 4>I think there's been speculation and rumblings and all kinds
<v Speaker 4>of things for a good long time now, and maybe
<v Speaker 4>this is a bit of a smoking gun that like
<v Speaker 4>it could be sooner than we think if they have
<v Speaker 4>at least like some marketing stuff floating around on the
<v Speaker 4>back end somewhere, like they're starting to think about this
<v Speaker 4>because the port is starting to materialize, right.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>It's like, you know, I try to think about the
<v Speaker 1>time in here a Sean where it's like, you know,
<v Speaker 1>we're mid March, which is horrifying to think times already
<v Speaker 1>flown by that much.
<v Speaker 2>Rice, Yeah, we're already. We're already mid March.
<v Speaker 1>We I think safely can assume if Microsoft has not
<v Speaker 1>confirmed that they'll have some sort of summer game Fest equivalent,
<v Speaker 1>they'll have, you know, their their showcase like they typically
<v Speaker 1>do around that time that E three would have happened.
<v Speaker 2>Ye, so I beget think, Okay, well.
<v Speaker 1>Is there time between now and then for now and
<v Speaker 1>then for them to announce like something like this is
<v Speaker 1>happening very soon? And they have Indiana Jones still coming
<v Speaker 1>to PS five, and I don't think they've confirmed a date,
<v Speaker 1>although we've had leaks of a date which I think
<v Speaker 1>put it into next month or.
<v Speaker 2>Something like that. I don't know.
<v Speaker 1>It just seems like Microsoft has plenty to talk about before
<v Speaker 1>they even get to that summer show, and maybe this
<v Speaker 1>could show up there and be launching in the summer
<v Speaker 1>on PS five.
<v Speaker 2>Again, that just wouldn't surprise me.
<v Speaker 4>Right exactly. It's it's more of a matter of when
<v Speaker 4>at this point. And yeah, I mentioned looking at my calendar,
<v Speaker 4>and you know, April is that month where we start
<v Speaker 4>to see the packed spring of Xbox happen, or they
<v Speaker 4>got South of Midnight. They have the marketing deal with
<v Speaker 4>Claire obscure and then they have Doom in May. So
<v Speaker 4>I would assume that if this is happening soon, it
<v Speaker 4>wouldn't be that soon. It would probably be like June
<v Speaker 4>or something.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, late. You could get announced soon and then come
<v Speaker 2>out late summer, right yeah.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>Or it could be a thing where yeah whatever SGF
<v Speaker 4>for not E three thing they do, They announce it
<v Speaker 4>and then yeah, hey, guess what, it's available digitally in
<v Speaker 4>two weeks and maybe we have a physical version as
<v Speaker 4>a partner thing.
<v Speaker 3>Or whoever down the road or whatever. Yeah. I would
<v Speaker 3>not be surprised at this point.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, you know, this is something that they probably do
<v Speaker 1>pair up with a hey, we have really spruced this
<v Speaker 1>game up. You know, I to use the word fixed,
<v Speaker 1>They probably wouldn't use that, but yeah, like fix the
<v Speaker 1>game up and then spruce it up in some other ways.
<v Speaker 3>For xpecially if you can with Starfield.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, as much as you can fluugh.
<v Speaker 1>Starfield the game that I think is okay ish. It
<v Speaker 1>is the kind of thing where okay, they will represent
<v Speaker 1>it to the existing audiences and say here's some free
<v Speaker 1>updates and then you put that all into a bundle
<v Speaker 1>with that DLC that everyone seemed to hate except for
<v Speaker 1>Greg Miller, and you released that as a definitive edition
<v Speaker 1>for PlayStation five, and there's probably a definitive box edition
<v Speaker 1>for Xbox as well. And if that's the case, I
<v Speaker 1>guess that could be something that comes out closer to holiday,
<v Speaker 1>if they're trying to time it up with all of
<v Speaker 1>these other updates that they might be doing to the game.
<v Speaker 1>Something we see, we see all the time. But yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I mean, you know, I'll say it again, Sean. I
<v Speaker 1>remember when the conversation going into Starfield was hey, is
<v Speaker 1>this game gonna come to PS five ever? And I,
<v Speaker 1>you know, I was told I was shown like paperwork
<v Speaker 1>of like how they did the map of how we
<v Speaker 1>decide what which games we're going to do that with,
<v Speaker 1>and they're like for PlayStation, for Starfield and for a
<v Speaker 1>lot of these but bigger Bethesda games. Now, we're never
<v Speaker 1>gonna put that on PlayStation because we're looking at it
<v Speaker 1>and this is going to help grow game Pass And
<v Speaker 1>that was their thinking just a couple of years ago,
<v Speaker 1>and boy.
<v Speaker 2>That has shifted a They have changed.
<v Speaker 4>Their mind when they thought there was growth to be
<v Speaker 4>had with game Pass, which as they've seen recently as
<v Speaker 4>we've all seen recently that seemingly plateaued. When Microsoft stops
<v Speaker 4>updating you on raw numbers, that's when you know that
<v Speaker 4>things are below expectations. We saw it with the Xbox One,
<v Speaker 4>and now we're seeing that with game Pass. So it's
<v Speaker 4>not like dire situation or anything like. That's just, oh,
<v Speaker 4>we didn't see the growth that we want too, So
<v Speaker 4>let's not like worry shareholders and everything like that by
<v Speaker 4>potentially having news out there that oh, game Pass is
<v Speaker 4>dead and everything. You know, you get all the YouTube
<v Speaker 4>headlines and everything. They just want to avoid all that.
<v Speaker 4>But I do think it's funny to think of the
<v Speaker 4>sprucing up. Some people can't stand that that theoretically the
<v Speaker 4>best version of a game could be on or PlayStation
<v Speaker 4>coming out of Xbox, which I get because you know
<v Speaker 4>it's a Microsoft game. How is it better on the PlayStation.
<v Speaker 4>But you can't have devs just ignore the fact that
<v Speaker 4>they given more time to work on something. So like
<v Speaker 4>if if you get the porting job done quote unquote early,
<v Speaker 4>and you have extra time to say, hey, you know what,
<v Speaker 4>let's optimize things on the back end so that we can,
<v Speaker 4>you know, get the dynamic res higher at times and
<v Speaker 4>stuff like that.
<v Speaker 3>It's always going to be small.
<v Speaker 4>Things like that, I think usually, but it is is
<v Speaker 4>kind of a funny thing to think about, right.
<v Speaker 1>Right, Yeah, And you know, it's pretty easy to like
<v Speaker 1>to put yourself in the shoes to someone who's working
<v Speaker 1>on the game. Right, they're not Xbox people, they're Starfield people.
<v Speaker 1>They're the people that will, like, spent years working on
<v Speaker 1>this game and.
<v Speaker 3>People who want to have a job, so they're working, right.
<v Speaker 1>And there are probably people who are passionate about making
<v Speaker 1>sure the game could be as good as it possibly can.
<v Speaker 1>So when they have access to like a PS five Pro,
<v Speaker 1>you'll take advantage of that.
<v Speaker 2>You know. Again, a lot of stuff will.
<v Speaker 1>Get back parted that's not the right word, but get
<v Speaker 1>moved back over to Xbox when they do it for
<v Speaker 1>the PlayStation. But it's you're right, sort of the definitive
<v Speaker 1>experience could end up on PlayStation.
<v Speaker 2>People could be weird about that. You get to play
<v Speaker 2>it early, years early, so just look at it that way.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, all right, let's get into this next little batch
<v Speaker 1>of headlines. A lot of Star Wars stuff to talk about,
<v Speaker 1>kind of from a different angles.
<v Speaker 2>Let's start with this first one.
<v Speaker 1>A Saber Interactive reminds us it is still working on
<v Speaker 1>Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic remake. This is
<v Speaker 1>from Alex Hopley at Game Reactor. Last week, we were
<v Speaker 1>hit with a bit of a chakra as Saber Interactive
<v Speaker 1>in Games Workshop announced Warhammer forty K Space Marine three.
<v Speaker 1>While that project is years away, it did cost some
<v Speaker 1>to question what Saber was up to with other projects
<v Speaker 1>such as Jurassic Park Survival, Toxic Commando, and Star Wars
<v Speaker 1>Knights of the Old Republic remake. The Kotor remake has
<v Speaker 1>had a turbulent development, to say the least, and while
<v Speaker 1>there was a point where it seemed the project would
<v Speaker 1>just get canned, Saber Interactive confirmed last year that work
<v Speaker 1>was still ongoing. Now more recently, Saber Chief executive Officer
<v Speaker 1>Tim Willitts had us reassured us once more. He basically
<v Speaker 1>went on Twitter and said, everything that we have talked
<v Speaker 1>about is still in development. We will share information on
<v Speaker 1>upcoming games when we have something cool to share.
<v Speaker 2>You know.
<v Speaker 1>The questions really came from and I'll take responsibility for that.
<v Speaker 1>I was like, hey, yeah, that I've heard that Sony
<v Speaker 1>doesn't want nothing to do with this thing. So that
<v Speaker 1>game's effectively done and then you know most of that.
<v Speaker 1>I still think it's true where it's like Sony has
<v Speaker 1>backed away from this thing. They Sony doesn't seem to
<v Speaker 1>want anything to do with it, and so like that
<v Speaker 1>version of the game is done. But you know, Saber
<v Speaker 1>Interactive and that was not even the original developer when
<v Speaker 1>that game got announced, right, who was it was Aspire? Right,
<v Speaker 1>Aspire was going to work on it, oh, and that
<v Speaker 1>got got moved over to Saber. Saber continues like, seems
<v Speaker 1>like they're going to continue working on this and have
<v Speaker 1>something what it's actually gonna end up looking like we'll have.
<v Speaker 2>To wait and see.
<v Speaker 1>But no, they continue to say, no, We're we're going
<v Speaker 1>to actually see this thing through, and I definitely believe
<v Speaker 1>them now at this point they seem pretty intense on
<v Speaker 1>doing that. But boy, I'm like, what is that thing
<v Speaker 1>even gonna look like? Saber has a lot of games
<v Speaker 1>in the works. They are always making a ton They
<v Speaker 1>have that road Craft game coming out later this year
<v Speaker 1>that that demo really did very well during the Steam
<v Speaker 1>Next Fest. But I actually forgot about Jurassic Park Survival,
<v Speaker 1>which is that action adventure game that they made and
<v Speaker 1>then you know, they announced Space Bring three. They got
<v Speaker 1>a ton happening. I don't know when do you think
<v Speaker 1>we see Nights of the Old Republic remake?
<v Speaker 4>Any no clue at this Yeah, because it's one of
<v Speaker 4>those games where it's been.
<v Speaker 3>Barely talked about so much and toss around a little
<v Speaker 3>bit that.
<v Speaker 4>I assume even when they tell us all our wise,
<v Speaker 4>I just keep assuming this game is dead. But yeah,
<v Speaker 4>they keep reiterating no, no, no, work is happening, Work is
<v Speaker 4>happening on this thing, and so I'll take them, you know,
<v Speaker 4>at their word, and yeah, it's still going. It's just
<v Speaker 4>always a little that this project is still a thing,
<v Speaker 4>because it does feel like if we haven't heard anything substantial,
<v Speaker 4>we haven't even seen like, you know, a new trailer
<v Speaker 4>or anything like even conceptual at this point.
<v Speaker 3>I even like some art or something like new key
<v Speaker 3>art or anything.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, I guess it would just be in early development
<v Speaker 4>if it is still happening. Maybe it did get tossed
<v Speaker 4>around a bunch before finally real work has begun on it,
<v Speaker 4>and that's why we haven't seen anything at this point.
<v Speaker 4>But yeah, I keep getting surprised that this project is
<v Speaker 4>still alive.
<v Speaker 1>Frankly, yeah, I think, like I'm trying to remember the
<v Speaker 1>exact timeline and how we were hearing about things. But
<v Speaker 1>in my head, when I try to remember when we
<v Speaker 1>were discussing this, when it was still under Aspire and
<v Speaker 1>Sony was you know, hands on and giving money to
<v Speaker 1>the project, and like I think responsible for actually publishing it,
<v Speaker 1>all things I don't think are happening, at least not now.
<v Speaker 1>Maybe they come back around at the end of the
<v Speaker 1>project they're like, now we're happy with it again, here's
<v Speaker 1>us like returning to the state where things used to be.
<v Speaker 1>But when originally got announced, I think the timing I
<v Speaker 1>was hearing about was like this thing wouldn't show up
<v Speaker 1>till like twenty twenty.
<v Speaker 2>Seven, and that's before all that stuff.
<v Speaker 3>When when they first got announced.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, like the kind of the you know I was
<v Speaker 1>originally hearing or that could have been in the months later,
<v Speaker 1>right the month's following.
<v Speaker 4>Even Still, yeah, I was trying to get the timeline straight.
<v Speaker 4>Twenty twenty one, this was announced.
<v Speaker 2>Oh no, no, I don't wait. Was is this announced?
<v Speaker 2>At twenty twenty one.
<v Speaker 4>First revealed that the Sewing PlayStation showcase event September ninth,
<v Speaker 4>twenty twenty one.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, so I think it was like maybe it was
<v Speaker 1>like it was twenty twenty five I was hearing, but
<v Speaker 1>I'm like, I think it's twenty twenty seven is what
<v Speaker 1>I originally heard. So it's like, I mean, we don't
<v Speaker 1>know what the scale of this thing is under Understab.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, so it's like we did I think we did.
<v Speaker 1>Hear that they were planning to and again, this was
<v Speaker 1>under Aspire. Things could have changed, like reworked the combat
<v Speaker 1>to be maybe more actionally.
<v Speaker 2>More real time, you know, more real time than the
<v Speaker 2>game is.
<v Speaker 1>And it's like, okay, so yeah, they are planning to
<v Speaker 1>make substantial changes to the way this game works, but
<v Speaker 1>is that and really they have to like remake everything
<v Speaker 1>because this is not a game you could sort of
<v Speaker 1>just staple new visuals onto. So they were going to
<v Speaker 1>have to probably rework everything from you know, from the
<v Speaker 1>very foundation up through the final presentation, and so yeah,
<v Speaker 1>it was going to take a long time. But it's
<v Speaker 1>like if twenty twenty seven was the timeline originally, like
<v Speaker 1>what is it now?
<v Speaker 2>We really don't.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, And the uh, the thing about thinking about the
<v Speaker 4>devs who are or have worked on this with Aspire
<v Speaker 4>always seemed like a weird choice because they their expertise
<v Speaker 4>is in ports and like light remastering, so for them
<v Speaker 4>to do a remake that fans would expect, oh I
<v Speaker 4>seemed to odd. And now we have Saber, which Saber
<v Speaker 4>has certainly done larger projects, but and you know, they
<v Speaker 4>have a lot in development at any given point time.
<v Speaker 4>Like I said, but again, I'm still not sure it's
<v Speaker 4>the kind of level that people are expecting out of
<v Speaker 4>this game.
<v Speaker 1>So yeah, I mean, you know, I think what we
<v Speaker 1>talked about Night Scale Republic, we're talking about BioWare we
<v Speaker 1>talking about electronic arts?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, like overseeing that you know, I guess that was
<v Speaker 2>that base names and gaming.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, huh uh well, I mean like at least like
<v Speaker 1>you had them on a certain pedigree.
<v Speaker 4>Uh well, I've meant that seriously about that's not like
<v Speaker 4>legitimately like huge names associated with this franchise with.
<v Speaker 1>Huge budgets and being able to support a massive Triple
<v Speaker 1>A release in you know, this twenty twenty five to
<v Speaker 1>twenty twenty seven period.
<v Speaker 4>I love that, you see, I'm joking about BioWare in
<v Speaker 4>the end, Yea't blame you at this point, Jeff, I'm
<v Speaker 4>just so.
<v Speaker 2>Used to the Starcast. I'm like, you know, yeah, totally.
<v Speaker 2>Sean's right. Screw those guys.
<v Speaker 1>All right, well, let's stick with Star Wars here. Star
<v Speaker 1>wars Hunters. Uh, the has been shut down or is
<v Speaker 1>going to be shut down? The announced it.
<v Speaker 2>Uh.
<v Speaker 1>This is from Chris Scullion at VGC. Zinga has announced
<v Speaker 1>that it will be shutting down Star Wars Hunters. Despite
<v Speaker 1>the game having come out only last summer. It's not
<v Speaker 1>even been out a year. I think it's actually just
<v Speaker 1>nine months after it came out. The free to play
<v Speaker 1>PvP Arena combat game. It was released on June fourth
<v Speaker 1>on Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android and was set between
<v Speaker 1>the events of Star Wars episodes six and seven. It
<v Speaker 1>was okay, you know, had a Metacritic of fifty seven,
<v Speaker 1>so not great. Yes, but it's like I think most
<v Speaker 1>of that was just like, I don't know, it's got
<v Speaker 1>a really obnoxious tone.
<v Speaker 2>I think that did not help it.
<v Speaker 4>This game going for like the Fortnite crowd and not landing.
<v Speaker 1>Or yeah, I mean you look somewhere between Fortnite and Funko.
<v Speaker 3>Pop, Like, oh I see, yeah.
<v Speaker 2>You know.
<v Speaker 1>The character designs, they were strong in terms of there's
<v Speaker 1>a lot of character here, but you know, you know,
<v Speaker 1>I think one of them is like an e walk
<v Speaker 1>running riding around like a mini atst and.
<v Speaker 2>It's just ok I thought a lot of that stuff
<v Speaker 2>is fine.
<v Speaker 1>It's for kids, and and it nail that stuff to
<v Speaker 1>be like, oh, we can try to get kids attention,
<v Speaker 1>except for kids did not actually pay attention. And no
<v Speaker 1>one else did either, no one, No one played this game.
<v Speaker 1>No one ever talked about this game. I talked about
<v Speaker 1>it a couple times on.
<v Speaker 3>I was gonna say, you enjoyed a decent did you.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it's fine.
<v Speaker 1>Like I thought, it was a pretty good one of those,
<v Speaker 1>you know, a mobile first online shooter. You could see
<v Speaker 1>very like you could imagine that being the kind of
<v Speaker 1>thing where it's, oh, okay, they a lot of the
<v Speaker 1>gameplay and the competitiveness is a facade there to get
<v Speaker 1>you onto the treadmill of well, sure I'm in there
<v Speaker 1>and I'm shooting people, but really I'm not killing anyone
<v Speaker 1>until I get these upgrades the way that like a
<v Speaker 1>Clash Royale works or something like that. It's not that
<v Speaker 1>it was just straight up cool shooter, very like you know, uh,
<v Speaker 1>Overwatch Light, like very Overwatch Light. But you know, like
<v Speaker 1>I said, no one played this thing, and it was
<v Speaker 1>gonna they were gonna release it on Steam, and it's
<v Speaker 1>like they're not even going to give that a shot.
<v Speaker 1>Now they are pointed like they announced it for Steam.
<v Speaker 1>It's like, okay, so this is one of these live
<v Speaker 1>service games where they tried something a bit different.
<v Speaker 2>Had they put it on Steam, I don't think that
<v Speaker 2>would have changed its fate all that much.
<v Speaker 1>But I also feel like it's a little unfair to
<v Speaker 1>be like, hey, let's judge the performance of this live
<v Speaker 1>service game on that is like a shooter. If you
<v Speaker 1>don't put it down on Steam, did you really give
<v Speaker 1>it a chance?
<v Speaker 2>I don't know.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, with a shooter in particular, you want to put
<v Speaker 4>on as many platforms as possible. And you know, some
<v Speaker 4>I guess some don't have to call duty mobiles doing
<v Speaker 4>perfectly fine. But this is I talked about game preservation
<v Speaker 4>at the top a little bit, and this is one
<v Speaker 4>of those things that's a bit of a bummer because
<v Speaker 4>there's two things here. You know, with live service games,
<v Speaker 4>those are ephemeralm. Those just float away when the company
<v Speaker 4>that owns them decides that they aren't performing well. Enough
<v Speaker 4>and mobile games as well. Some single player games are preserved,
<v Speaker 4>whether officially, which you know like Megan Man x Dive
<v Speaker 4>and Animal Crossing, Pocket Camp that's what it was called, right, yep.
<v Speaker 4>I like seeing those games get like definitive additions that
<v Speaker 4>the company just says, yeah, it give us twenty bucks.
<v Speaker 4>It's just a regular ass game.
<v Speaker 3>Now.
<v Speaker 4>That's really cool. But that's that's also a thing that
<v Speaker 4>this game had going against it, with the focus on
<v Speaker 4>mobile and handheld and everything like that, it was going
<v Speaker 4>to be one that they could easily just toss away
<v Speaker 4>if it wasn't doing well enough. And that always sucks
<v Speaker 4>because again, regardless of a game's quality, it's a bummer
<v Speaker 4>to see it just go away. And I want to
<v Speaker 4>play it now just to see what it is, because
<v Speaker 4>eventually you won't be able to maybe forever and always.
<v Speaker 2>So yeah, I think we'll.
<v Speaker 1>I'll make it something set up for grums gimmicks before
<v Speaker 1>this thing goes away for good.
<v Speaker 2>Let's see, when did they say it was going to
<v Speaker 2>shut down for good?
<v Speaker 3>October first, so for goot time.
<v Speaker 2>Not sometime.
<v Speaker 1>The game will remain playable until October first. The final
<v Speaker 1>content update will be April fifteenth.
<v Speaker 4>Oh, that's why they're not saying it so soon. I
<v Speaker 4>was gonna say, that's quite a bit notice for a shutdown.
<v Speaker 4>Usually a shutdown happens like within a month, if it's
<v Speaker 4>happening or something.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, oh god, it feels like that's almost because there's
<v Speaker 1>some like contract there to keep it going for a
<v Speaker 1>certain amount of time or something like that.
<v Speaker 2>You're right, that's quite some time. You know.
<v Speaker 1>The factor's worth considering here, Grandamus and Chat says, are
<v Speaker 1>we star Wars out absolutely without a doubt? Like it
<v Speaker 1>just got so cheap, it got so commoditive, commoditized that
<v Speaker 1>it was not it doesn't feel special at all anymore.
<v Speaker 1>And this game certainly certainly did not feel special.
<v Speaker 4>I Yeah, I hear people on all different podcasts and
<v Speaker 4>streams that I watch, of like, you know, generally speaking
<v Speaker 4>within gaming, but people from all different you know, audiences
<v Speaker 4>saying just yeah, we don't give a crap about Star
<v Speaker 4>Wars unless it's and or everyone loves and or but
<v Speaker 4>everything else, everything else. People are just tired of it.
<v Speaker 4>So makes sense that this one have hit the way
<v Speaker 4>it might have previously.
<v Speaker 2>Yep.
<v Speaker 1>And then I think people will be like, well, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>more proof that live service games don't work, and this
<v Speaker 1>is absolutely that for sure.
<v Speaker 2>But I mean there are lives.
<v Speaker 1>I mean this this happened while Marvel Rivals was taking off,
<v Speaker 1>so uh you.
<v Speaker 3>Know, but also we saw it happen there, so.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, true, Yeah, absolutely, I think really this is just
<v Speaker 1>any game. Every game is fine for attention, whether this
<v Speaker 1>was a live service game or some alternate reality where
<v Speaker 1>this game is not a live service game. I but
<v Speaker 1>it has a similar sort of tone. I don't think
<v Speaker 1>it finds the audience it needs to either way. Now
<v Speaker 1>there's something we said that live service games need to
<v Speaker 1>find an audience to justify themselves. Sure, but it's like
<v Speaker 1>everything is vying for your time and attention, and this
<v Speaker 1>thing being a live service game, it's like, yeah, I
<v Speaker 1>mean give or take that that that doesn't that doesn't
<v Speaker 1>really seem to be the factor here. It was the
<v Speaker 1>fact that this is just not sparking joy in a
<v Speaker 1>lot of.
<v Speaker 4>Pas looking for Yeah, well, was it Phil who said
<v Speaker 4>that we're not competing with Nintendo and PlayStation We're competing
<v Speaker 4>with like streaming services and stuff because we time is
<v Speaker 4>time that we're just competing for people's time.
<v Speaker 1>That's right, Yep, Yeah, all right last Star Wars headline
<v Speaker 1>here responds. The next Star Wars game is confirmed for reveal.
<v Speaker 1>It's from Andy Robinson at VGC. The Star Wars strategy
<v Speaker 1>game from studio bit Reactor and Jedi Survivors Respawn will
<v Speaker 1>be revealed next month, it has been confirmed. On Saturday,
<v Speaker 1>April nineteenth, the pair will appear on stage at Star
<v Speaker 1>Wars celebration in Tokyo, where they will offer the first
<v Speaker 1>look at their Star Wars turn based tactics game. Little
<v Speaker 1>is known about the game, which was announced alongside Response
<v Speaker 1>Shooter and the third entry in the Star Wars Jedi franchise.
<v Speaker 1>The strategy game is being developed through a production collaboration
<v Speaker 1>with bit Reactor, which is a new studio formed by
<v Speaker 1>veterans of x Common Civilization Studio for Axis Games. Respawn
<v Speaker 1>is producing the latest Star Wars strategy game well. Bit
<v Speaker 1>Reactor leads on the development of the title. That Shooter
<v Speaker 1>got canceled by the way, and then Respond it will
<v Speaker 1>continue to work on this. Everyone was one about this
<v Speaker 1>or like when that Shooter got canceled, got kind of
<v Speaker 1>turned into something else, and then that got canceled and
<v Speaker 1>everyone's like, what's going on with Respond it's like, well, Respond,
<v Speaker 1>has this still happening, but bit Reactors doing development on it,
<v Speaker 1>and then Responds got Apex Legends and Jedi and then
<v Speaker 1>there's a small skunk works team from the director of
<v Speaker 1>Titan Fall one and that's it. Meanwhile, this is happening. Hey,
<v Speaker 1>I'm interested in this. I'm still like, as much as
<v Speaker 1>Star Wars it has become so cheap and commoditized, this
<v Speaker 1>is commodified, i should say, is actually the word I've
<v Speaker 1>been searching for in my brain.
<v Speaker 2>This whole time.
<v Speaker 1>It is still I'm like, oh, Star Wars strategy game.
<v Speaker 1>Here's the thing that works for me with Star Wars
<v Speaker 1>Shawn that always will and always has.
<v Speaker 2>The ships look cool, the tech looks good. I like
<v Speaker 2>that stuff.
<v Speaker 1>So if you give me a strategy game that puts
<v Speaker 1>that stuff up in my eyeballs first like, I'm going
<v Speaker 1>to be probably at least curious and interested.
<v Speaker 2>So I want to see what this looks like.
<v Speaker 4>What is RESPAWD doing on this project is what makes
<v Speaker 4>me scratch my head because very good question. If yeah,
<v Speaker 4>if you're saying it's a strategy game developed in part
<v Speaker 4>by veterans of x COOM and SIV and stuff that
<v Speaker 4>makes a lot of sense to me, But why respawn
<v Speaker 4>assisting on it just because I assume they have worked
<v Speaker 4>on Star Wars before. That's the only thing I think
<v Speaker 4>of that's.
<v Speaker 1>Like, maybe not a bad line of thought, Sean. So
<v Speaker 1>what I hear like when it comes to working with
<v Speaker 1>Disney on anything, and I bet this is true for
<v Speaker 1>a lot of IP holders, but maybe specifically Disney is
<v Speaker 1>they're very you know, anal They're very like, hey, you
<v Speaker 1>have to get everything exactly right when you work with
<v Speaker 1>our IP, and especially like Star Wars was like especially
<v Speaker 1>kind of a problem with that. And maybe respond has
<v Speaker 1>the institutional knowledge now of after working on two Jedi
<v Speaker 1>games and continuing to work on a third, they know
<v Speaker 1>how to work with that team over at Disney, so
<v Speaker 1>they handle that stuff as a liaison between.
<v Speaker 2>Bitreactor and Disney.
<v Speaker 1>Tell us what you want to do, we'll go figure
<v Speaker 1>out the way to make sure you can do it,
<v Speaker 1>and then we'll come back and report to you like
<v Speaker 1>here's the reality of the situation, here's what you need
<v Speaker 1>to do. That could be like the thinking here, you
<v Speaker 1>know the other part of it is like maybe this
<v Speaker 1>just started back when EA had the Star.
<v Speaker 2>Wars license exclusively and so this was like sort of.
<v Speaker 1>The back door way into being able to be a
<v Speaker 1>bit reactor to make a Star Wars game. And they're like, well,
<v Speaker 1>let's part you up with Respawn. There's some producers producers
<v Speaker 1>over there that aren't busy. Let's give them something to
<v Speaker 1>work on.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, but yeah, it probably just is that, Hey, executives
<v Speaker 4>liked what they saw with the Jedi games, and so
<v Speaker 4>when it comes to making a new one, they're like, Hey.
<v Speaker 3>These guys haven't figured out.
<v Speaker 4>Go get some help from these guys, because they'll help
<v Speaker 4>you figure out the art the way we like it.
<v Speaker 4>They'll help you, you know, if they assume they have
<v Speaker 4>a team dedicated to helping out with this. Sure, it
<v Speaker 4>just feels like an odd fit. But now we talk
<v Speaker 4>it out, I can kind of see how it comes together.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah. People in chatter are like, wait, is that third
<v Speaker 2>Jedi game confirmed? I'm pretty sure they've publicly stated that,
<v Speaker 2>but like.
<v Speaker 1>Right after that game the second one came out, I heard,
<v Speaker 1>It's like yep, no, Like they're already seeing the numbers.
<v Speaker 1>It's good enough. They want to do a third one.
<v Speaker 1>They are planning to do a third one. They have
<v Speaker 1>basically got a green light to do a third one,
<v Speaker 1>So I mean, i'll confirm it if they haven't, but
<v Speaker 1>I'm pretty sure they've stated publicly that that third Jedi
<v Speaker 1>game is happening.
<v Speaker 2>It is just.
<v Speaker 1>That'll probably be it. That they probably won't do another
<v Speaker 1>one after that. They're going to close out the trilogy.
<v Speaker 3>Trilogy makes sense.
<v Speaker 1>Yep, it usually does. Okay, let's see here. Let's take
<v Speaker 1>a quick break. We'll come back. Plenty more headlines to
<v Speaker 1>get into, including what's going on with People Can Fly
<v Speaker 1>and Metroid Prime for right after this, all right, new headline,
<v Speaker 1>People Could Fly is entered into an agreement with Sony
<v Speaker 1>Interactive Entertainment on production of a game using Sony IP
<v Speaker 1>code named Project Delta. This is from People Can Fly's
<v Speaker 1>investor report. So let's read the Management Board of PCF
<v Speaker 1>Group essay with its registered office in Warsaw hereby informs
<v Speaker 1>that on March thirteenth, twenty twenty five, the company entered
<v Speaker 1>into a production agreement with Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC with
<v Speaker 1>its registered office in Sanititeato, blah blah blah, regarding cooperation
<v Speaker 1>in the production of a prototype of a new game
<v Speaker 1>co named Project Delta, based on intellectual property rights belonging
<v Speaker 1>to that publisher.
<v Speaker 2>So let's stop there, Sean.
<v Speaker 1>I think this headline is going to go around and
<v Speaker 1>people are gonna be like people could fly or working
<v Speaker 1>on a Sony IP. They're taking a Sony IP that's
<v Speaker 1>old and they're making a new version of that. And
<v Speaker 1>that's not necessarily what this says, right, this says they
<v Speaker 1>are working on a game based on intellectual property rights
<v Speaker 1>belonging to the publisher. So the IP belongs to Sony,
<v Speaker 1>but it's not necessarily an existing Sony IP, although it
<v Speaker 1>could be.
<v Speaker 3>I guess it could be an original IP.
<v Speaker 2>Could I go by Sony exactly?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I gotcha, gotcha right.
<v Speaker 1>So then we don't know that it could be something
<v Speaker 1>that does exist. So let's, you know, open up that
<v Speaker 1>can of worms. What should you know and people could fly?
<v Speaker 1>Is what's the the dick Fart game? What that's you know,
<v Speaker 1>the game where they had all the fun swear words
<v Speaker 1>where they were like kick you and stuff. The people come, ye,
<v Speaker 1>nack three, No, it's not not what what should people
<v Speaker 1>could Fly?
<v Speaker 2>Work on? Like in your opinion, Oh, bulletstorm, there we.
<v Speaker 3>Go, bullet storm fly outside Bulletstorm.
<v Speaker 1>I mean they've did that Square Enix Destiny, like that
<v Speaker 1>Destiny light.
<v Speaker 2>I suppose what was it called?
<v Speaker 1>Uh, this one's not called Bullets Bulletstorm.
<v Speaker 2>It's that one where they outriders Outriders.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, did you just like did it just like flood
<v Speaker 1>into your brain.
<v Speaker 3>Like four years ago, just flew by my.
<v Speaker 1>Cow man Mount rushmore of of like forgotten pandemic games.
<v Speaker 2>I think that one should go up there.
<v Speaker 1>I think, holy crap, so and that that one maybe
<v Speaker 1>most notable for Square Enix, never saying how well it's
<v Speaker 1>sold because of it like a certain threshold they'd have
<v Speaker 1>to pay people can find more money.
<v Speaker 4>Where one month before it came out, they were like, oh,
<v Speaker 4>by the way, some game pass. Don't worry, you don't
<v Speaker 4>have to buy it.
<v Speaker 3>It's in game pass.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, that was a last minute game pass thing, and
<v Speaker 1>like that's why I think if anyone resents because of
<v Speaker 1>that so.
<v Speaker 3>So yeah, I have high confidence in this studio making.
<v Speaker 2>I'm getting the impression not a fan of Outriders.
<v Speaker 4>I does anyone have anything to say about Outriders?
<v Speaker 3>I didn't.
<v Speaker 1>I think it's one of those ones where it's like
<v Speaker 1>there's some people like, no, I played a ton of
<v Speaker 1>that that was fine, But I don't know People Could
<v Speaker 1>Fly has some talent and like they know how to
<v Speaker 1>make a shooting game fun. I think my assumption here
<v Speaker 1>would be like, okay, so they're gonna work on something
<v Speaker 1>along those lines for Sony, But I I don't know
<v Speaker 1>if we're trying to figure out what existing ip they
<v Speaker 1>make sense for, I don't necessarily just jump the.
<v Speaker 2>One people are saying.
<v Speaker 1>People are like, want to see Jumping Flash, Sure, everybody, Yeah, new.
<v Speaker 2>Jumping Flash from People can Fly, Thanks Mike yep.
<v Speaker 4>Okay, So they've worked on Bulletstorm that brought their Wikipedia
<v Speaker 4>so I see this Outriders, Yeah, Gears of War they've
<v Speaker 4>they've worked with Microsoft on various Gears of War.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, I think they were like very closely like tied
<v Speaker 1>to Gears of War for.
<v Speaker 3>They have a relationship.
<v Speaker 4>They have a relationship with Epic. So yeah, they co
<v Speaker 4>developed Judgment. Apparently they're working on a day Uh yes,
<v Speaker 4>supporting that that's what's a list on Wikipedia?
<v Speaker 2>Please? Yeah, I mean that, I wouldn't be surprised.
<v Speaker 1>I think that, you know, that's if you're making a
<v Speaker 1>game like that, you want people who have familiarity with
<v Speaker 1>it to help come support it, they still have that.
<v Speaker 4>It seems like that that vibe of game is sort
<v Speaker 4>of their wheelhouse. So what does that say about something
<v Speaker 4>that they would be helping Sony with.
<v Speaker 2>I mean that kill Zone trailer, the Bullshot trailer.
<v Speaker 1>Just actually make that now with people can fly responsible
<v Speaker 1>for it? No, I really I don't know. In fact,
<v Speaker 1>I guess we don't have They don't have to do
<v Speaker 1>something like bullet Storm or Gears of War.
<v Speaker 3>They don't have to. They do something wildly different.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah. Do you think that the term project Delta like
<v Speaker 2>give you any insight? I guess you know. What makes
<v Speaker 2>me think of is so calm? Makes me so calm?
<v Speaker 4>Well, what hang on, we summoned jan I'm making so calm.
<v Speaker 4>They have a bunch of projects announced Delta is this
<v Speaker 4>one with Sony, Echo is one with Crafton, and then
<v Speaker 4>they also have Bison by Frost and Victoria. So maybe
<v Speaker 4>these are hints at stuff because when I hear Crafton,
<v Speaker 4>I think Echo. I do think, like, you know, military
<v Speaker 4>shooter or something. Yeah, so basically maybe it's so calm.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah uh.
<v Speaker 1>And then Cyrus Raven and Chat says odds of this
<v Speaker 1>being live service not zero, but not I don't like
<v Speaker 1>it's a guaranteed.
<v Speaker 3>If it's depends on when this was signed.
<v Speaker 4>Because very good point, Sony has learned some lessons about
<v Speaker 4>live service, and I think, you know, if something makes
<v Speaker 4>a lot of sense for it to be that kind
<v Speaker 4>of game, they'll do it. But I think they've learned
<v Speaker 4>about pushing live service onto series that don't necessarily need it.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah. Uh, let's read some of this other like jargon
<v Speaker 2>they put in here.
<v Speaker 1>The production agreement provides that work on the product will
<v Speaker 1>be carried out in the so called work for hire model.
<v Speaker 1>For example, work performed by a company as a developer
<v Speaker 1>on behalf of and for the publisher, in return for
<v Speaker 1>which the company will receive an agreed renuneration from the publisher.
<v Speaker 2>So basically, you know, work for hire.
<v Speaker 1>They're being their contract company hired to like work on
<v Speaker 1>this iph and accordates with the production Agreement, work on
<v Speaker 1>the product will be divided into stages or milestones. Detailed
<v Speaker 1>terms of cooperation between the parties regarding the implementation and
<v Speaker 1>payment for subsequent stages and new milestones have been specified
<v Speaker 1>in the annex to the Production Agreement. The scope and
<v Speaker 1>provisions of the Production Agreement do not differ substantially from
<v Speaker 1>the previous from the provisions of production agreements typically concluded
<v Speaker 1>for such projects. I think they're just saying this is
<v Speaker 1>in line with the kind of thing we've done before.
<v Speaker 1>So yeah, there are other works. So I mean, maybe
<v Speaker 1>this is them coming in and you know, just kind
<v Speaker 1>of doing what they do on the Gears of War
<v Speaker 1>series for PlayStation, as you suggested earlier. So yeah, I
<v Speaker 1>don't know. Part of me is like, maybe it is
<v Speaker 1>just a new IP, and this should just be a
<v Speaker 1>new IP.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, especially if this did come out of the era
<v Speaker 4>at least of Sony coming up with like, you know,
<v Speaker 4>half a dozen new IPS in order to push the
<v Speaker 4>live service stuff.
<v Speaker 3>Maybe this is a remnant of that or something.
<v Speaker 1>Right, yeah, or like something where it was like there
<v Speaker 1>was a a live service game approved for one developer
<v Speaker 1>and they're like, well, let's take some of that stuff
<v Speaker 1>and work like, see, we can bring a team to
<v Speaker 1>maybe to make a campaign, a single player campaign.
<v Speaker 2>And so we're gonna hire you to do that.
<v Speaker 1>While that's what this team tries to figure out what
<v Speaker 1>they're doing with the live service that we still like,
<v Speaker 1>you know, we're speculating here, but something along those lines
<v Speaker 1>would not shock me.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, all right, Mike, Let's I'm Mike. I'm saying because.
<v Speaker 1>Let explained, does fun of Mike so much in this Yes,
<v Speaker 1>I very much associate Metroid Prime four with my argument
<v Speaker 1>with Mike about whether or not this game.
<v Speaker 2>Is going to yah switch to a game or not.
<v Speaker 1>So the way first, Metroy Prime four will potentially make
<v Speaker 1>quite the splash at the switch to Direct.
<v Speaker 2>This is from Jim Norman at Nintendo Life.
<v Speaker 1>If you could believe it, we are a little over
<v Speaker 1>two weeks out from the Nintendo switch to Direct. Well,
<v Speaker 1>we're all ready well, we're already waiting for more news
<v Speaker 1>from Nintendo's next console. Some folks believe they already have
<v Speaker 1>an inkling of one of the game's showcase key players,
<v Speaker 1>that be Metroid Prime four. It's according to Kiwi Talks
<v Speaker 1>podcast host Reese Riley, who recently took to Blue Sky
<v Speaker 1>with the heavy hint that Metroy Prime four beyond will
<v Speaker 1>be making quite the splash at the switch to Direct.
<v Speaker 1>Nintendo and Retro we're keeping their cards close to their
<v Speaker 1>chest with Metroy Prime four for this exact moment, Riley teased,
<v Speaker 1>the true unveiling will blow everything else in the Direct
<v Speaker 1>out of the water and the same threat on Twitter,
<v Speaker 1>The Kiwi Talks host said he was ninety percent certain
<v Speaker 1>that Prime four will be in the showcase. He clarified
<v Speaker 1>that Nintendo are constantly tweaking directs right down to the
<v Speaker 1>last minute, leaving himself a little bit of legal room.
<v Speaker 2>I know that move.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, Hey, okay, Metric Prime four at this point just
<v Speaker 1>like needs to be in that direct right, Like, I mean,
<v Speaker 1>they can't start talking about the switch to so much
<v Speaker 1>that they before they give us information about what's happening
<v Speaker 1>with this game.
<v Speaker 2>So how do you what does that look like to you?
<v Speaker 4>So? First of all, someone in twitch chat said the
<v Speaker 4>word resistance, which I've completely forgot about when talking about
<v Speaker 4>the last topic. But yeah, resistance would make sense start
<v Speaker 4>as well.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, resistance kills down for sure.
<v Speaker 4>Everyone forgot about resistance. Second, Mike Minati, that's stupid. Sob
<v Speaker 4>finally we get to dance on his grave, Jeff, can
<v Speaker 4>you believe that that guy thought that this game would
<v Speaker 4>only release how to Switch To when is clearly released
<v Speaker 4>how Switch one as well?
<v Speaker 2>I don't believe it because he's just that dumb.
<v Speaker 3>He's just an idiot.
<v Speaker 4>No, Yeah, this this makes a ton of sense for
<v Speaker 4>him to talk about as if it were a switch
<v Speaker 4>To game, right, regardless of how it's releasing. You want
<v Speaker 4>to release on Switch one because Metro is a niche series,
<v Speaker 4>and you want to sell to as many people as possible.
<v Speaker 4>And one hundred and war we up to now forty
<v Speaker 4>million units. Boy, that's a great audience to sell potentially
<v Speaker 4>sell a niche game two. But then also, you know,
<v Speaker 4>to Mike's credit, the point he was always trying to
<v Speaker 4>make here, this is a hardcore audience game. The people
<v Speaker 4>picking up a switch To right from the get go
<v Speaker 4>are going to be the hardcore audience. It doesn't make
<v Speaker 4>sense to at least market this game to those people
<v Speaker 4>regardless of how it originally releases. I guess how I'm
<v Speaker 4>thinking of it at this point is do we still
<v Speaker 4>how do we think this is going to be handled
<v Speaker 4>in relation to the Switch Too, Because if it's going
<v Speaker 4>to be in that direct, you assume it's not going
<v Speaker 4>to be just a Switch one game that they talk
<v Speaker 4>about during the Switch To direct.
<v Speaker 3>It could be, but you think there would be.
<v Speaker 2>More soon, it wouldn't be.
<v Speaker 1>So yeah, here's the sense I'm getting daw Sean, is
<v Speaker 1>this will be the poster child for here's the best
<v Speaker 1>case scenario for a switch one game running on switch to,
<v Speaker 1>Like we are going to build in like the best
<v Speaker 1>case scenario of like what that can look like. So
<v Speaker 1>all the improvements that could happen will happen in this game.
<v Speaker 1>This game will not necessarily be in a box that.
<v Speaker 2>Says switch to, and maybe it will.
<v Speaker 1>They could have like, oh, there's two different versions of it,
<v Speaker 1>like we've gotten from the Zelda games before that have
<v Speaker 1>been crossed gen right, Christy, Yeah, yeah, the game cube
<v Speaker 1>and the weavers and then the WIU and the switch version,
<v Speaker 1>and those are two different versions of the game. I
<v Speaker 1>don't think they're going to do that with Metro Prime four,
<v Speaker 1>although of course they still could. I think this will
<v Speaker 1>be a backward compatibi compatibility game that takes advantage of
<v Speaker 1>whatever stuff they've built into this console to in certain circumstances,
<v Speaker 1>certain circumstances make those games run and look as good
<v Speaker 1>as possible.
<v Speaker 4>Right, Because my initial thought with this was always that
<v Speaker 4>Prime four will run with dynamic resolution, and if you're
<v Speaker 4>playing out Switch one, that'll hover a round seven to
<v Speaker 4>twenty p and if you're playoff switch to, it's a
<v Speaker 4>locked ten ADP. Same with the frame rate. You know,
<v Speaker 4>they've been very good about this with at Retro with
<v Speaker 4>a Prime one remaster runs extremely well. We've heard whispers
<v Speaker 4>on the wind that this is based on that tech,
<v Speaker 4>and so I would not be surprised if as Targeting
<v Speaker 4>ten ap sixty and runs a very good sixty. But
<v Speaker 4>then you know the sixty fps is also locked locked
<v Speaker 4>on Switch to and maybe you gave a few dips
<v Speaker 4>here and there on Switch one.
<v Speaker 3>It's that kind of thing. I guess it's just never
<v Speaker 3>felt like Nintendo's m o to do.
<v Speaker 4>Patches like that radically overhaul a Switch one game for
<v Speaker 4>Switch too, and you know they've done expected things before.
<v Speaker 4>The Switch one did a good amount of unexpected stuff
<v Speaker 4>for Nintendo, So maybe this is just where they finally
<v Speaker 4>start doing that and they do something like a smart delivery.
<v Speaker 4>I think all the time about how Microsoft kind of
<v Speaker 4>nailed that one. There's reasons you would want to run
<v Speaker 4>the Xbox one X version on a series console, but
<v Speaker 4>usually it just gives you the best version of the
<v Speaker 4>game for the hardware they own. And so I think
<v Speaker 4>if Nintendo did something like that, and now it's the
<v Speaker 4>time to unveil that that.
<v Speaker 3>Would be really cool.
<v Speaker 4>But yeah, it feels like one extreme or the other.
<v Speaker 4>Either it is just the switch to runs the game
<v Speaker 4>better and they are going to talk about that, or
<v Speaker 4>maybe you do give Switched to box, especially if you
<v Speaker 4>know there's a difference between them. The switch to Box
<v Speaker 4>has like a white logo with red font or something
<v Speaker 4>like that. Two boxes of Metroid Prime four on retail shelves,
<v Speaker 4>as much as those still exist. May there's a strategy
<v Speaker 4>to that as well, right.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, there could be.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, and like positioning this as a launch game for
<v Speaker 1>the switch to for that audience. You're right that that
<v Speaker 1>is something that could be very appealing to Nintendo to
<v Speaker 1>give that chance the best best chance to succeed. They've
<v Speaker 1>spent a long time making it, so I just got
<v Speaker 1>to be one of the more expensive games Nintendo's ever made,
<v Speaker 1>you know, North American developers working on it for years
<v Speaker 1>after partner originally partnering with a.
<v Speaker 2>Team at Bandy Namco.
<v Speaker 1>Was it, I can't remember exactly, and that that getting
<v Speaker 1>scrapped or restarting development and then so yeah, it's good.
<v Speaker 1>Maybe it's something they're like, we actually do want to
<v Speaker 1>recoup investment on this one, and really give it a
<v Speaker 1>chance to have the breakout hit that the switch is
<v Speaker 1>provided for so many other franchises that Metroit's only kind
<v Speaker 1>of gotten from the.
<v Speaker 2>Two D game Metroid Tread. So we'll see.
<v Speaker 1>But at this point, I mean, this thing is going
<v Speaker 1>to be linked to the switch to in some way because.
<v Speaker 4>If nothing else, just us talking about how happy we're
<v Speaker 4>going to be to play this on the switch too,
<v Speaker 4>And I'm sure a lot of other creators are going
<v Speaker 4>to be feeling the same way, telling their audience the
<v Speaker 4>same thing, and they'll just trickle on out to the
<v Speaker 4>mainstream and.
<v Speaker 1>They've just run out of time otherwise, because it's like,
<v Speaker 1>you know, the switch tube is next early next month,
<v Speaker 1>two weeks.
<v Speaker 2>There's nothing happening with were that direct?
<v Speaker 3>Hell ya?
<v Speaker 1>Yep, nothing happened with Metroid Prime for between now and then,
<v Speaker 1>so that when we hear about this game, it will
<v Speaker 1>probably probably be in conjunction with that system, and that
<v Speaker 1>will definitely mean something when Nintendo does that, All right,
<v Speaker 1>Xbox and EA have reportedly been sniffing around Ubisoft's IP.
<v Speaker 2>This is from Sammy Baker at Push Square.
<v Speaker 1>Micro's up to spent close to one billion dollars on
<v Speaker 1>historically third party publishers and developers over the past few years,
<v Speaker 1>but now it's been sniffing around Ubisoft's intellectual property as well.
<v Speaker 1>A disgruntled shareholder on the embattled French firm recently accused
<v Speaker 1>the company of failing to disclose quote discussions between Microsoft
<v Speaker 1>EA and others that are interested in acquiring ips from
<v Speaker 1>you be Soft. Jiaj Krupa, the irritated investor in question,
<v Speaker 1>alleged that the conversation were shared in a restricted article
<v Speaker 1>published by business investment platform merger Market, and that neither
<v Speaker 1>shareholders nor the public were informed. You Be Soft a
<v Speaker 1>sense issued a statement to ig and revealing that it
<v Speaker 1>continues to review various strategic and capitalistic options going forward.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, I think one of the things that we
<v Speaker 1>always say about, like, hey, these companies are talking to
<v Speaker 1>each other. Microsoft was having a conversation about, you know,
<v Speaker 1>acquiring this company, or you be Soft showed up to
<v Speaker 1>EA one day and say, hey, would you like to
<v Speaker 1>acquire us? And something that you know happened years and
<v Speaker 1>years ago, and it was Yeah, those conversations happen all
<v Speaker 1>the time, and e'sgimos showing up and being like hey,
<v Speaker 1>Phil Spencer can I take you to lunch? He doesn't
<v Speaker 1>actually have to disclose what they talk about at those lunches.
<v Speaker 1>It has to reach like a certain threshold for it
<v Speaker 1>to become like, oh, we're going to present this to investors,
<v Speaker 1>and once they do that, they have to like disclose
<v Speaker 1>it publicly. Sure, conversations like this happen all the time,
<v Speaker 1>and so the idea that's like, oh they need to
<v Speaker 1>make that public and hey, sneak go down here, Heiniko
<v Speaker 1>and Mumo comes Buddy, and I just unplugged my headphones
<v Speaker 1>trying to play with my cats.
<v Speaker 2>Let me plug that back in real quick. Yeah. I hey,
<v Speaker 2>I think that this is something they probably have discussed.
<v Speaker 1>Whether or not this is a likely result of Ubisoft's
<v Speaker 1>current afflictions, I don't know.
<v Speaker 2>I think it's probably certainly on the table. What do
<v Speaker 2>you think, Sean uh So?
<v Speaker 4>First of all, before anyone says anything, I'd like to
<v Speaker 4>point out I was not laughing at that some person's name.
<v Speaker 4>I'm laughing at your white ass pronouncing it like Chris
<v Speaker 4>Pratt stomping tupas in.
<v Speaker 2>Krupus.
<v Speaker 3>That person deserves better. But you know what, that's where again,
<v Speaker 3>Jeff Broblet, I do oh Man does it.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, it feels weird to say about company as big
<v Speaker 4>as Ubisoft, but it kind of wouldn't surprise me, if
<v Speaker 4>you know, they're yeah, looking to offload kind of anything
<v Speaker 4>they can that they're not using, and then Xbox Xbox,
<v Speaker 4>they're looking to get all the IP they can so
<v Speaker 4>they can have quarters like they're going to have here
<v Speaker 4>in the spring and then presumably in the fall as well,
<v Speaker 4>to just constantly pump out games.
<v Speaker 3>That's a good per that's a good per Nako good boy. Yeah, Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>I don't know what more to think about this are than.
<v Speaker 2>Company.
<v Speaker 3>Sure do be tossed around a bunch of money with
<v Speaker 3>our companies nowadays.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, and it's you know, I think my my perspective
<v Speaker 1>on this show would be like, hmm, does this feel
<v Speaker 1>like a fifth or sixth best best option for youb Soft?
<v Speaker 2>Like are they down so bad?
<v Speaker 1>They're like, hey, originally we were going to try to
<v Speaker 1>stay in charge of the company, and that meant, well,
<v Speaker 1>you know, maybe we'll have a couple of successful video games,
<v Speaker 1>like you know, that Star Wars game is coming and
<v Speaker 1>Assassin's Creed is coming. All these are gonna hit and
<v Speaker 1>we're gonna be fine, Okay, well that didn't work. All right,
<v Speaker 1>Well let's see can we get ten Cent to like
<v Speaker 1>just give us some money and maybe take the company private.
<v Speaker 1>So that's not ideal, but maybe we could do that.
<v Speaker 1>And it's like, oh, that's not gonna work. Should we
<v Speaker 1>sell it off for parts? And it's like, oh, okay,
<v Speaker 1>that's that's where you're at now.
<v Speaker 2>Huh.
<v Speaker 1>You're so desperate to stay in charge of ubsoft that
<v Speaker 1>you're like, let's sell off the things that make the
<v Speaker 1>company valuable. I think that the fact that this is
<v Speaker 1>maybe even being discussed is a pretty poor sign for
<v Speaker 1>the future outlook of ub soft as a publisher. A
<v Speaker 1>sentence that doesn't really surprise anyone that listens to this show, right, No, Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>It's uh, Like I said, it's weird to think about
<v Speaker 4>with the ubsoft and how much we associate with them,
<v Speaker 4>but we also look at their out put and what
<v Speaker 4>it's been and the way they treat their franchises, which
<v Speaker 4>is sometimes.
<v Speaker 3>Is really not great idea.
<v Speaker 4>I meant, I ain't love the way that Prince of
<v Speaker 4>Persia was handled in general, with some of the marketing
<v Speaker 4>beats and everything like that, and it was exclusive to
<v Speaker 4>you know, you be soft connect or whatever for a
<v Speaker 4>while there.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I just don't have great faith in you be
<v Speaker 3>soft right now.
<v Speaker 4>And yeah, maybe so the people over there don't as well,
<v Speaker 4>and so that's why we're seeing stuff like this happening,
<v Speaker 4>you know, over coffee or however the hell they do it.
<v Speaker 4>You know, I was gonna say over drinks, but that
<v Speaker 4>that's not They're not bad.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, no, that'd be too cool for them. Uh yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I think that you'd be soft maybe. I mean, like
<v Speaker 1>what they're not going to sell Assassin's Creed right now.
<v Speaker 1>That's the one where they seem like that's you be soft.
<v Speaker 1>Bread and butter and maybe just their butter now because
<v Speaker 1>or something.
<v Speaker 3>That is what I was thinking.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, what would it be, I mean splinter in their cell. Yeah,
<v Speaker 4>it seems like the most like one to me if.
<v Speaker 2>I'm if I'm Xbox, I could do something with Splinter Cell.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, like.
<v Speaker 4>They do have I was gonna say they have Perfect Dark,
<v Speaker 4>but yeah, I think they could use like a pure
<v Speaker 4>stealth game, absolutely, and I have confidence that they have
<v Speaker 4>studios who could do something fun with that. So that
<v Speaker 4>feels like a natural fit, I think.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I mean, even if it's uh once perfect Dark
<v Speaker 1>gets done, like just hiring Crystal Dynamics to come in
<v Speaker 1>and work on a splinter Cell game. It's not like
<v Speaker 1>the craziest thing in the world to me. So uh yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I mean, you know, reportedly you still working on.
<v Speaker 2>A splinter Cell remake, so so who knows.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I mean beyond that, you know a lot of
<v Speaker 1>Tom Clancy stuff outside of splinter Cell. You know, maybe
<v Speaker 1>sell off the whole Tom Clancy brand.
<v Speaker 2>I guess, I don't know. It's it's a weird thing.
<v Speaker 1>I bet that the reason that this is not presented
<v Speaker 1>to investors is Ubisoft themselves doesn't know what this looks like,
<v Speaker 1>doesn't really. They're like, well, we're sure the conversations of
<v Speaker 1>Star Arted, but we don't really know what number or which.
<v Speaker 2>Ip specifically would even make sense.
<v Speaker 1>So probably a long ways off from something like this
<v Speaker 1>actually becoming a finalized deal that results in some ipiece
<v Speaker 1>spinning off from this post, right, yeah, all right, last
<v Speaker 1>headline here Naughty Dog's intergalactic rumor to be inspired by
<v Speaker 1>from software's most popular game.
<v Speaker 2>This is from alex Co's The Game Reactor. Can'tmember where
<v Speaker 2>this came from.
<v Speaker 1>One of the biggest reveals of last Decembers of the
<v Speaker 1>Game Awards was the announcement of Naughty Dog's the latest project, Intergalactic,
<v Speaker 1>the Heretic Profit, which was a big departure from the
<v Speaker 1>Studios Pass works that.
<v Speaker 2>Were more grounded.
<v Speaker 1>However, a new rumor as Surface Statium that Ergalactic's inspiration
<v Speaker 1>comes from an unlikely source and one that's significantly different
<v Speaker 1>than the Studios Pass games. In the latest Men Max episode,
<v Speaker 1>founder Ben Hansen, whoever that is, mention mention that he's
<v Speaker 1>heard Intergalactic has been compared to elden Ring, arguably from
<v Speaker 1>software's most part, their game, which has sold millions of
<v Speaker 1>copies in one multiple Game of the Year Awards and maxis.
<v Speaker 1>Ben Hansen said, I've heard Naughty Dog's the next game
<v Speaker 1>is very inspired by a game with a lot of
<v Speaker 1>player freedom, elden Ring, and that is what it's been
<v Speaker 1>compared to. It's taking place on one planet, uncovering the
<v Speaker 1>history of this world, and you can kind of see
<v Speaker 1>a little bit where they might be going with that.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, you know, I think this.
<v Speaker 1>Is something we've heard suggestions of our hints or gestures
<v Speaker 1>toward in the past, especially I think coming out of
<v Speaker 1>Last of Us Part two, and then coming out of
<v Speaker 1>like elden Ring. I think we heard from people at
<v Speaker 1>Naughty Dog, including Neil Drunkman, that's like, hey, we are
<v Speaker 1>we were inspired by that, and like, we love making
<v Speaker 1>the games the way we used to make them, but
<v Speaker 1>now we're thinking maybe we want to we want to
<v Speaker 1>try it to do it this way.
<v Speaker 2>This seems to work as well.
<v Speaker 1>I think maybe I'm a little surprised that they are
<v Speaker 1>already enacting that with with something like Intergalactic.
<v Speaker 2>What do you think that looks?
<v Speaker 4>Like?
<v Speaker 2>Do you think this is something that can work for
<v Speaker 2>a studio like Naughty Dog.
<v Speaker 4>This is where I would have expected them to draw
<v Speaker 4>inspiration from. And so I'm a little worried because that's
<v Speaker 4>not what I thought Intergalactic would be. It's called tergalactic,
<v Speaker 4>so I assume you know there would be planet hopping of.
<v Speaker 3>Course, right.
<v Speaker 4>But look, I'm not a huge Last of Us fan,
<v Speaker 4>but I do generally like Naughty Dog stuff. I really
<v Speaker 4>enjoyed every Uncharted game. I think those games are at
<v Speaker 4>their best when it is more linear and where it
<v Speaker 4>is more set piece driven. And so hearing that this
<v Speaker 4>is going to be more about player freedom, player choice,
<v Speaker 4>and presumably that means some semblance of.
<v Speaker 3>An open world.
<v Speaker 4>That's not what I want to hear about right now,
<v Speaker 4>because I think games should be smaller and scope personally. Now,
<v Speaker 4>if anyone was gonna pull it off, Naughty Dog's want
<v Speaker 4>of those sort of exception to the rule of companies.
<v Speaker 4>Where again, even if I didn't like their most recent game,
<v Speaker 4>there's something there. There is a quality, a bar of
<v Speaker 4>quality that Naughty Dog has kind of always had that
<v Speaker 4>I do have faith that they could at least do
<v Speaker 4>something interesting with it. I'm just not sure if that's
<v Speaker 4>going to be what I want of this game.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, you know, I get what they.
<v Speaker 1>Might be going for here, which is like that sense
<v Speaker 1>of player driven like exploration and discovery is magical when
<v Speaker 1>it works.
<v Speaker 2>And if there's a way to replicate that without.
<v Speaker 1>Going full elden Ring full Soul's game full open world,
<v Speaker 1>I think they will probably try to stumble upon that.
<v Speaker 1>But you kind of need to like just turn over
<v Speaker 1>some of the autonomy to the player and say, Okay,
<v Speaker 1>we have built this place for you to explore. Now
<v Speaker 1>it's on you to sort of bump up into these
<v Speaker 1>systems and find ways to unlock the fun for yourself.
<v Speaker 1>That's probably what I think I mean, honestly, and I think,
<v Speaker 1>trying to remember how they phrased it, I think it's
<v Speaker 1>kind of what they were saying originally when this idea
<v Speaker 1>of They've been inspired by Elder Ring and maybe Breath
<v Speaker 1>of the While before that, and they wanted to take
<v Speaker 1>some of the other feelings and apply it to their games.
<v Speaker 1>I do think that you're right that this is a
<v Speaker 1>scary proposition for a lot of fans, cause for as
<v Speaker 1>much as I'm someone that's like, hey, give me an
<v Speaker 1>open world, I do want to have that autonomy. I
<v Speaker 1>want to I don't care, like, you know, a fight
<v Speaker 1>with Mike right now about mods in that room and
<v Speaker 1>Ring that living in And for me, it's like, it's
<v Speaker 1>all about let me decide how I'm going to have fun.
<v Speaker 1>That's the whole point of those games.
<v Speaker 3>The way I don't like content mods by like graphical mods.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I'm like, you played the campaign, what are you
<v Speaker 1>a friggin' nerd? It's like, no, I want to just
<v Speaker 1>explore this world in my own terms. And so there
<v Speaker 1>are and there are a lot of people out there
<v Speaker 1>like me that feel that way. That's why stuff like
<v Speaker 1>ellen Ring has been so successful, although ellen Ring gives
<v Speaker 1>you a lot of ways to access it's fun. I think,
<v Speaker 1>getting back to your point that this is Naughty Dog,
<v Speaker 1>they are the exception to the rule, and I think
<v Speaker 1>the reason they're the exception to the rule is they
<v Speaker 1>will provide different pathways toward the fund. They will if
<v Speaker 1>you are someone that comes through games for that linear experience,
<v Speaker 1>if you stick to the story, I bet you're gonna
<v Speaker 1>mostly get that feeling, and then if you want to
<v Speaker 1>veer off, they will provide a little bit of autonomous
<v Speaker 1>exploration that is that can belong to the player, that
<v Speaker 1>you can author on your own. And that sounds pretty
<v Speaker 1>good to me as someone who doesn't usually jive with
<v Speaker 1>Naughty Dog.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, I haven't seen or heard this yet, so I'm
<v Speaker 4>still processing everything from the quote. And yeah, it's taking
<v Speaker 4>place on one planet, so that presumably means that there
<v Speaker 4>wouldn't be the planet hopping that like THEE I assume
<v Speaker 4>that is what I thought would be in this game
<v Speaker 4>is instead going to be spread out over something on
<v Speaker 4>one planet, or maybe it is a moral linear experience
<v Speaker 4>that has the open segments that they've done in the past,
<v Speaker 4>like but then charted for It's just that that comparison,
<v Speaker 4>like said, just confuses me a little bit, and someone
<v Speaker 4>Chad does point out that it could be more of
<v Speaker 4>you know this this isn't an official source or not.
<v Speaker 3>This doesn't it's just Benhanso, who can it's not official marketing.
<v Speaker 4>But like when dev interviews are eventually conducted on the
<v Speaker 4>subject matter, maybe that could be a marketing beat that
<v Speaker 4>they have been like told like, hey, this game is
<v Speaker 4>a little more open, so it's okay if you compare
<v Speaker 4>to Elden.
<v Speaker 2>Sure, yes, that's.
<v Speaker 3>Somewhere.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, absolutely, yeah, Like something like Marketer is just like,
<v Speaker 1>what what's the word cloud of things and gamers?
<v Speaker 2>I want to hear right now, you're you're absolutely right.
<v Speaker 2>It could be that simple.
<v Speaker 1>I think that uh, you know Last of Us Part two,
<v Speaker 1>its strength for me was that combat was had some
<v Speaker 1>emergent qualities to it where you can, like, I have
<v Speaker 1>an idea about how to solve this problem in front
<v Speaker 1>of me. You could try that idea and the game
<v Speaker 1>would react to that. I think that they might be
<v Speaker 1>going like, let's take that feeling, that kernel and just
<v Speaker 1>maybe apply it more broadly to the gameplay as a
<v Speaker 1>hole across the like everything you're doing, and to facilitate that,
<v Speaker 1>maybe larger open zones.
<v Speaker 2>It's a sonic frontiers. We're getting the sun in front.
<v Speaker 3>Just like sog frontiers. Everybody, Oh right, that does it.
<v Speaker 1>For the headlines, there's a poll question that we had
<v Speaker 1>ready to go from last week. What does the F
<v Speaker 1>in Silent Hill F stand for? Is it forte parentheses not?
<v Speaker 1>Will F stop? Fortnite? Or fuddy duddy? Twelve percent says
<v Speaker 1>it stands for f stop so some sort of camera
<v Speaker 1>related gameplay, to twenty one percent said fort not will
<v Speaker 1>so something to do with music. Twenty four percent said
<v Speaker 1>Fortnite so an Epic Games clone, and then forty four
<v Speaker 1>percent said fuddy duddy.
<v Speaker 2>There you go.
<v Speaker 3>Is it not the F from math whatever that's called.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, okay, it could be the F from math, the
<v Speaker 1>titular of math F that is the math F factorial.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know, I do.
<v Speaker 1>I remember I stopped paying attention to math that once
<v Speaker 1>it got hard for me. There, all right, we have
<v Speaker 1>a new pole question. We'll get to that here in
<v Speaker 1>a second. While we get that set up. Sean Turbo,
<v Speaker 1>Sean McDowell, what do you have going on?
<v Speaker 3>I have a show right after this?
<v Speaker 4>If you're watching live, me and Nicky are going to
<v Speaker 4>be hanging out for GB kids. I believe they are

<v Speaker 4>is what we planned on. I hope Nicky remembered to
<v Speaker 4>set all that up. I didn't tell them too, because
<v Speaker 4>that's GB Kids. We fly by as we see our
<v Speaker 4>pants and then that's always.
