<v Speaker 4>wasn't mocking you in any way, I was just patially
<v Speaker 4>waiting for you to be done. I actually had no
<v Speaker 4>idea what you were doing. Michael Jordan and I have
<v Speaker 4>a great many things in common. We've both got the
<v Speaker 4>bald head, we both are fantastic, we go hard on
<v Speaker 4>the paint, as they say, and we both take things
<v Speaker 4>personally so well. Okay, then let's talk about the episode

<v Speaker 4>my brain. It's like there are dishes in the sink,
<v Speaker 4>the bed is unmade, there's clothes all over the place.
<v Speaker 4>I can't just lie here and just sort of so
<v Speaker 4>I just gaveling. Land said, honey, honey, I'm just gonna
<v Speaker 4>hit home for a bit and tidy up my house.
<v Speaker 4>I'll be back at nine am and we can have
<v Speaker 4>breakfast and watch inside Welcome to Life in the fast Lane, folks.
<v Speaker 4>She's like, yes, I just want to sleep. Why did
<v Speaker 4>you wake me? Look? Yeah, imagine that did She woke
<v Speaker 4>up and guy wasn't next to it. I could have
<v Speaker 4>been abducted by aliens. That'd been pretty cool though, for
<v Speaker 4>me and her. So yep, but a good weekend on
<v Speaker 4>my part as well. I think I too have been
<v Speaker 4>wrestling with a little bit of a cold. We both
<v Speaker 4>had that sort of soft and sultry sound to our voices.
<v Speaker 3>Well, it's winter here in Australia, so everyone's getting sick.
<v Speaker 3>Because I've got two kids sending him to school in daycare.
<v Speaker 3>Other parents have their kids that are sick. They're like,
<v Speaker 3>I've got to go to work, You're gonna have to
<v Speaker 3>go to kinder You're going to have to go to school.
<v Speaker 4>Send their kids to school sick. They make my kids sick,
<v Speaker 4>and it comes home. The vicious circle continues. It's winter
<v Speaker 4>and straight and how and do you know? Why? Do
<v Speaker 4>you know? Do you know? How? I know? How's that

<v Speaker 3>Yes, Now, this episode, there's two ways of looking at this.
<v Speaker 3>When I first I watched it twice. So first time
<v Speaker 3>I watched it went, I was.
<v Speaker 4>Only looking at it one way, So tell me about
<v Speaker 4>the other one.
<v Speaker 3>It's just kind of like you're watching this going this
<v Speaker 3>feels like several stories that we've seen before. You say,
<v Speaker 3>it's just a love joy without the twist. Sure, you know,
<v Speaker 3>he just falls in love with somebody and that's it, right,
<v Speaker 3>Bart's friend falls in love a season two episodes, Season
<v Speaker 3>three pisod maybe season season three episode where Millhouse falls
<v Speaker 3>in love with a girl and Bart's jealous with This
<v Speaker 3>time it's Millhouse who's jealous. That's the same kind of
<v Speaker 3>story there. We've had numerous episodes with Bart being on
<v Speaker 3>drugs or home run marijuana, that kind of thing, and
<v Speaker 3>they go into the rawin sort of fantasy land. Similar
<v Speaker 3>here with Lisa. However, I was in fact a fan
<v Speaker 3>though of the Bart Millhouse aspect here where it was
<v Speaker 3>nice to see Bart finally show some appreciation for Millhouse,
<v Speaker 3>because Millhouse, by this point in the show, he's almost
<v Speaker 3>become just like this punching bag that Bart almost resents
<v Speaker 3>with him. It's almost like he's being his friend out
<v Speaker 3>of pity.
<v Speaker 4>But that's little. They're best friends. Absolutely. Yeah, it does
<v Speaker 4>feel at times like Bart's almost got some degree of
<v Speaker 4>self loathing that someone like Millhouse is his best friends, Like, oh, man,
<v Speaker 4>can't I do better than this? Or he bring he
<v Speaker 4>keeps Millhouse a man to make himself feel better. Yeah,
<v Speaker 4>it's quite an unhealthy, dysfunctional friendship dynamic at times. So yeah,
<v Speaker 4>this was actually kind of nice at the end when
<v Speaker 4>there's some degree of recognition, He's like, this guy is
<v Speaker 4>my friend. This guy has stuck through me through thick
<v Speaker 4>and thin, even when I've treated him badly. I mean,
<v Speaker 4>do you think there's enough of an acknowledgment from Bart
<v Speaker 4>that he's been kind of a friend. I think he did.
<v Speaker 3>I mean him going there and saying I should never
<v Speaker 3>have done this, I should never have him apologizing. I
<v Speaker 3>thought was a genuinely nice, sweet moment at the end there,
<v Speaker 3>And I just think it was nice showing that he
<v Speaker 3>showing Millhouse and showing us that.
<v Speaker 4>He wants Millhouse around. Yeah. I think something that the
<v Speaker 4>show does and maybe has done more frequently more recently
<v Speaker 4>in terms of like the episodes we're talking about, seasons twenty, twenty,
<v Speaker 4>nineteen eighteen, and whatever. Someone in the Simpsons family, usually
<v Speaker 4>Homer will behave badly for the for ninety eight percent
<v Speaker 4>of the episode, and then at the end it'll be
<v Speaker 4>kind of like Marge, I love you, family, I love you. Oh,
<v Speaker 4>it happened last week.
<v Speaker 3>It literally happened last week when it was Homer was
<v Speaker 3>meant to be watching Maggie and he took it to
<v Speaker 3>the park, and it just ends with Homer Simpson, you're
<v Speaker 3>a strong finisher.
<v Speaker 4>Yes, Whether that's sort of a meta commentary on the
<v Speaker 4>show itself from the writers, who knows, but yeah, it
<v Speaker 4>feels like that that's happening more and more, that there'll
<v Speaker 4>be bad behavior, bad behavior, bad behavior, recognition mea culper. Okay,
<v Speaker 4>everything's back to normal. Everything's good. You're still the characters
<v Speaker 4>we know and love. Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>I do find though that in recent seasons, March forgives
<v Speaker 3>Homer for doing barely anything. It's like he's been a
<v Speaker 3>horrible human being for twenty one minutes. He said, one
<v Speaker 3>nice thing, you've just forgiven him. But I do think
<v Speaker 3>it was nice him going to buy the flowers. They
<v Speaker 3>tried to do the whole bait and switch, but he
<v Speaker 3>knew it was coming. He knew it wasn't going to
<v Speaker 3>go to what was her name, Jenny, Jenny.
<v Speaker 4>Playby and Hathaway.
<v Speaker 3>I will say that having a star like Anne Hathaway,
<v Speaker 3>she has said that it's one of her favorite things
<v Speaker 3>she's ever done in her career, being on the Simpson's
<v Speaker 3>Huge Star. She actually comes and does another role like
<v Speaker 3>krusty psychic Princess Penelope. I think your name is Okay,
<v Speaker 3>great role. This one here is so forgettable. How many
<v Speaker 3>times is Bart fall in love with these characters? They
<v Speaker 3>get a female guest fall in love with Bart, be
<v Speaker 3>a girlfriend, Bart knocks her up or whatever.
<v Speaker 4>It's like no, no, and it's just it's just funny
<v Speaker 4>to hear those that doesn't forgettable roles. They really are.
<v Speaker 4>I'm glad you brought this up because I'm glad you
<v Speaker 4>said it.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, because you could have said this was trust me
<v Speaker 3>Neil and Will Oh yeah whatever, there's there's nothing to it.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, Anne Hathaway is a professional. Yeah, almost to a fault,
<v Speaker 4>you know. I mean, you had a lot of people
<v Speaker 4>sort of ragging on it during that time when people
<v Speaker 4>didn't like Anne Hathaway. It's like, oh, she's too polish,
<v Speaker 4>he's too professional, she's too much of a theater kid.
<v Speaker 4>She's not doing Hi, I'm An Hathaway and I'm on
<v Speaker 4>the Simpsons. She's no, I'm here to play Jenny. I'm
<v Speaker 4>gonna play Jenny. So yeah, what I've written down here
<v Speaker 4>is like, she's not bad in this by any stretch,
<v Speaker 4>but she's not super memorable. I mean, and even by
<v Speaker 4>the terms of professional actors or name actors who come
<v Speaker 4>on and play characters not necessarily themselves. My go to,
<v Speaker 4>and this is always Edwin Norton. I thought he did. Yeah,
<v Speaker 4>he was fine. The Triple Threat. Yeah, Triple Threat. Of course,
<v Speaker 4>love that bit. But at the same time, I like,
<v Speaker 4>I don't think I put him in my Top ten
<v Speaker 4>or even Top twenty Simpson's Guest Stars or something like that.
<v Speaker 4>But at the same time, he committed to the bit
<v Speaker 4>and he gave a proper performance, which is what a
<v Speaker 4>proper actor does. And that's what Anne Hathaway is doing here.
<v Speaker 4>I mean, yeah, she's working with what she's given and
<v Speaker 4>she's making the most of what she's given. But yeah,
<v Speaker 4>the thing of it is, Jenny is just not that
<v Speaker 4>memorable a character in all that memorable story. I mean,
<v Speaker 4>she's really just sort of good. It's incorrect to call
<v Speaker 4>her a chaos agent because she's not that. But she
<v Speaker 4>is the one that sort of instigates a little bit
<v Speaker 4>of chaos between Barton Millhouse just by virtue of who
<v Speaker 4>she is. Yeah, yeah, and where she's ended up in
<v Speaker 4>this quote unquote relationship. So look, I wouldn't call it
<v Speaker 4>a waste of Anne Hathaway. No. I mean, if Anne
<v Speaker 4>Hathaway wants to be on your show and is excited
<v Speaker 4>about doing it, yeah you're not gonna say no. But
<v Speaker 4>you mentioned the other episode that she's in, and that's
<v Speaker 4>a better fit for it. Use great role. Look, this
<v Speaker 4>is going to turn into me being Rolph Wigan. I
<v Speaker 4>love Anne Hathaway. When I grow up, I'm going to
<v Speaker 4>marry her. But I've always had a lot of time
<v Speaker 4>for her. I've always thought she's a really talented performer, naturally,
<v Speaker 4>but she's also got a real sort of wild and
<v Speaker 4>daring streak in her that sometimes comes out. I love
<v Speaker 4>the Oceans movie, the Ocean's eleven twelve thirteen movie, but
<v Speaker 4>they made a version called Ocean's Eighth which was a
<v Speaker 4>female and like women, so of course I don't get
<v Speaker 4>these chicks out of my Oceans movie. No, no. I
<v Speaker 4>was really looking forward to it, yes, and it didn't
<v Speaker 4>turn out to be that great that. I don't think
<v Speaker 4>the con was all that good. I don't think the
<v Speaker 4>chemistry between the team was all that great. But what
<v Speaker 4>was great was Anne Hathaway playing this movie star character
<v Speaker 4>who's kind of the target of the con. She was
<v Speaker 4>really funny, really sexy. It was just a great performance.
<v Speaker 4>I like, why isn't the whole movie about her?
<v Speaker 3>So, you know, we were a Netflix mini series on
<v Speaker 3>just this character pretty much's you know.
<v Speaker 4>Sort of a list who realized, oh, I've got a
<v Speaker 4>talent for the con and I really enjoy it, and
<v Speaker 4>you know, it's like why do we know a whole
<v Speaker 4>show about her, so she's capable of really great stuff,
<v Speaker 4>and hearing that she has this role later on playing
<v Speaker 4>like I guess Krusty's sidekick.
<v Speaker 3>Or she kind of replaces Krusty to an extent. Because
<v Speaker 3>everyone likes her, you'll really like this episode.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, apologies, that's guys crushworthy moment over and we'll talk
<v Speaker 4>about the rest of the episode. Yeah, but no, I'm
<v Speaker 4>but I'm glad we're on the same page with that.
<v Speaker 4>That's that Anne Hathaway is good, but not necessarily it
<v Speaker 4>doesn't necessarily bring all that much to the table. The
<v Speaker 4>character doesn't The character doesn't you right?
<v Speaker 3>I also think I'm willing to give bart an out
<v Speaker 3>of forgetting Millhouse as well, because picture yourself and this
<v Speaker 3>older girl who's lovely attractive and it's interested in you.
<v Speaker 3>That's that would consume you. Not that it's ever happened
<v Speaker 3>to me, but I can imagine ten year old me going,
<v Speaker 3>this older girl likes me. Screw my friends, I am
<v Speaker 3>just going to be just focused on this girl.
<v Speaker 4>Now. Oh, sure, you when you're at that young age
<v Speaker 4>and some anyone shows any sort of romantic and interest
<v Speaker 4>in you, when you're starting to sort of get a
<v Speaker 4>hand along, like, oh, there is this thing called love
<v Speaker 4>and romance and I don't know, maybe making out. Wow, yeah,
<v Speaker 4>this is my thing. Now, why is everybody doing this?
<v Speaker 4>You're working it out at the same time. Do I
<v Speaker 4>do here? And then someone comes along who's like, Oh,
<v Speaker 4>they're a little bit more mature than me. It's seen
<v Speaker 4>a little bit more of the world. And wait a minute,
<v Speaker 4>they're in just in me, a little old me. Yeah,
<v Speaker 4>you become laser focused under that. This happened to me
<v Speaker 4>when I was like maybe eleven or twelve years old
<v Speaker 4>and there was a girl who was like thirteen or fourteen.
<v Speaker 4>I was clearly like I was a mouse and she
<v Speaker 4>was the cat, and she was batten me around for
<v Speaker 4>her own amusement. I don't think she was being she's many.
<v Speaker 4>I don't think she was being evil. I don't think
<v Speaker 4>she was being doing it out of malice or spider
<v Speaker 4>or anything like that. I think she just realized I
<v Speaker 4>got this, I got this kid on a wire. I
<v Speaker 4>can just do whatever I please and it'll probably boost
<v Speaker 4>her ego a little bit for someone to be looking
<v Speaker 4>at her with just heart eyes. So yeah, Bridget I
<v Speaker 4>don't I don't begrudge it. Did you ever read her diary?
<v Speaker 4>Never did? It's probably just same, But yeah, I can.
<v Speaker 4>I can wholly relate and appreciate what happened here with
<v Speaker 4>Barton Millhouse in that regard.
<v Speaker 3>With Millhouse as well. Oh you fell on the sword

<v Speaker 3>even though he came to your houses. That I'll come

<v Speaker 4>and elastic nature of time as you get older gets

<v Speaker 4>long time. So wait, May's finished. In July bended, we're
<v Speaker 4>approaching the July off Ramdom. There's something else I wanted
<v Speaker 4>to talk about, just quickly, in regard to the I
<v Speaker 4>guess Barton Geny relationship as well. Is how I guess
<v Speaker 4>sometimes you can enter in relationship with someone or have
<v Speaker 4>feelings or affection or a crush on someone who will
<v Speaker 4>you feel will make you a better person. You know,
<v Speaker 4>there's that line. I think it's a from the Jack
<v Speaker 4>Nicholson movie as good as it gets, Oh, you make
<v Speaker 4>me want to be a better man. Her name is Nikola,
<v Speaker 4>her name is Louis. Yeah. I really liked the idea,
<v Speaker 4>and they've explored it before on The Simpsons, but I
<v Speaker 4>thought they handled it pretty well here. The fact that, oh,
<v Speaker 4>this person's genuinely good and they sort of see that
<v Speaker 4>I could be genuinely they see that kind of potential
<v Speaker 4>in me. I know that's not nice. No one else
<v Speaker 4>can see it, but this person, this person sees it.
<v Speaker 4>And also, well, they're kind of pretty and kind of
<v Speaker 4>kind of sweet and.
<v Speaker 3>Granted, butts pretending here? Oh yeah, But the thing is,
<v Speaker 3>you finish what you're gonna say, and I'll continue. I
<v Speaker 3>think the further it goes along is like, would it
<v Speaker 3>be it'd be nice to be nice. I'm actually becoming
<v Speaker 3>a better person. I'm not really pretending anymore. Yeah, you
<v Speaker 3>can't clean. I used to be this guy because I
