Mmm, hello and welcome. It is December the sixteenth, twenty fourteen. Today is your last regularly scheduled all natural, free range, grass fed, hormone free, cage free, cage free Giant Bomb cast of twenty fourteen. Also, it's full of GMOs. I should put that out there. That stuff is true, but also I don't want it. And animal crackers, yeah, I mean, I mean he said GMOs. Is that? Yeah, I don't know who gambos are. They're they're they're animals, chantically modified organisms. These were once animals for the model and they shrink them down and they I'm not under cracker for him, And then I go like this, they've had that technology for decades. Then yeah, wow, yeah, I mean it ever since forty seven when the UFO crashed. Science is boswell, yep, sweet Monsanto was just an anagram for roswell UFO crash. I don't know if you know that. Oh. Hello, I'm Brad Shoemaker. That's Jeff Kersman and Dan Reicherd Hello, Hello, and Jason a Striker rounding out the table. Hey Brad, another going what up down there with your giant phone, my giant cartoon phone. You're comically large phone that placed another comically large phone. Yeahs, I had a Galaxy Note two, which was comically large, and then I got a little crack in the screen, and I'm like, oh fuck it, it's signed for a new phone. So I got a note for all right, we're fully upgraded. Still, how'd you crack it? How did I dropped it? Actually? And yeah, finally, have you guys ever dropped a phone. I've dropped a phone many times. I've never broken a screen. Yeah, I dropped a phone. Didn't break the screen, but scratched up some areas outside of the screen and on the back. Do you have those friends that like it just seems every two weeks they have a newly shattered phone. Yeah, Like my sister is constantly losing or breaking phones. I've never dropped a phone in my entire life. I have no idea what these people are doing, whether they don't have cases or they're sloppy drunks. If we want to get real about it, they're sloppy drunks. Dan. I mean, I'm not the most grateful drunk, and I've never known you're good at it. Yeah, okay, I'll take that. I dropped my iPad in the garage. Did a break? Yes, damn. Did you have any kind of Apple Care stuff on it? Nope? So you just lost an iPad? No, No, it still works. It's a it's a crack that goes diagonally across the entirety of the screen. But if I'm looking directly at it, I can't really see the crack. And I saw the crack. It's kind of like a hairline, feel it if you're swiping over it. No, No, I'd be afraid of cutting myself. Yeah, so it's been fine so far, but I keep thinking like maybe I should just take it in and just get the screen replaced. Like I said, I know a guy I don't want to like you. When you got your phone fixed, you ended up going to some underground bunker. It was like it was like a it was like a rented office space in an office park, but it was basically a one tiny room with a like card table and one chair set up in the middle of it. Yeah, that doesn't, that doesn't. That's not like it looked like a literal mob front, Like if you went in there, it's like the address they would keep for their legitimate business. Sure, except there was a guy and they're fixing iPhones. Is it the place like two blocks from here? No, it was in Millbury. Okay, there's a place right here. It says like that's all they do is just break or there's as rotten with those things. I'm sure any any city probably is. So how did he do that? He thinks that was great? Yeah, did A did a perfect job? This was It was an iPhone three G. So this was many years ago at this point, but he claimed to be the only repair guy in the area that used genuine Apple parks as opposed to the aftermarket junk. How do you get those? You can't just buy the class? Yeah, maybe there's waste to source. This fell out the truck or something. You're buying it out of China. Yeah maybe, I don't know. Maybe if you're buying in enough bulk, they'll do business with you. Maybe. I'm not sure. But phones, am I right? Yeah? They're huge telephones. My phone is less huge, but still huge. And I love my phone. I just I yeah, phones are all right. I think I finally have come around on to your kind of way of thinking about new phones. It's like, who just too? Like when I got this six a couple of weeks ago. Last week was it less? Maybe it was time. Hasn't a meeting this month very much had the the experience of like, all right, bigger phone, better something, let's go like restoring my backup. So everything was identical yep, and I was like, still phone, still a phone? What else am I doing today? You can see a little better, Yeah, but I'd still play that. I'd any any game that I have the option, I'd play it on an iPad anyway. I just mainly do it for commutes and I don't want to bring my iPad on. That's yeah, that's fair, that's fair. Yeah, I have liked the phone a lot for that. Oh yeah, I mean it's it's a totally a solid product. It's just like the kind of I hit the finally hit the diminishing returns of like it's better, but still phone. The apps or the apps, you know, like there hasn't been like the even even what people are touting as innovations across all phones, Like it's just like, Okay, I guess it's slightly better, but it's not. There's no like revelatory moment in phone apps anymore. Right, I'm pretty sure I can see at least three more roads on cross the road. Really say how big this phone is? Yeah? Planning ahead? Okay, well I guess that that's a big Ya. That's a game changer, as anybody gotten not that this is limited to new phones, but has anybody gotten wiky to work yet? No? I didn't. That's the crazy alarm clock thing where some random person just calls you and uh yeah, yeah, yeah, it sounds great. If you can call it, you could be the caller. I just downloaded it. It won't let me do it because it says like, put your name in, your photo in and I do that every time, and then every time I try to call someone, it says that again to elaborate, you're putting it in the time you want to wake up right yeah, and then three people want to wake up right now. So what it will do is if if you're a person who wants to talk to somebody, you pick it up and just basically hit a button right like you want to just like match me with somebody. Yeah, I see my screens as three people want to wake up right now, and then they'll match you to somebody whose alarm is set to right now. Yes, exact basically, and it could be anywhere in the world. I've been hearing some people say they've gotten it working, so why aren't we calling them right now? They need to wake up? Not working? Yeah, they have just launched what last week? I think it was on Android for a little while, so it's just it's new to iowas. Okay, well I made the wrong show, but it has apparently it's not been You could have been awaking people up weeks ago. Damn it. Yeah, it's not not been super functional since it came out, But what a fascinated concept. I got a tweet that said that they got a call one morning to wake up and somebody screamed you should read air Force Gater and then hung up. So it's it's working for me mile Yeah, okay, but they were telling you to read it. Somebody tweeted to me that someone else they just wanted you to prove read it. I guess too much, Yeah, I guess. Yeah. You know I can't have wake Up Club with you all the time, so the next best thing, wake up Club. I have to imagine. No one is running wake Up Club anymore. Also, so you're always going to be there are people doing it because when I first heard about it, like a month or two ago, I downloaded it and yeah, there were people waking me up and stuff with that. Were they people or were they robots? Because it's still it's the same experience either way. Oh, just you just have to look at the names and see if they are PSN account names or like Barry Alice. It could have been someone that got in our relate named Barry. That's that's true. Yeah, well what was what was the gimmick with that one? What did it do when when it competed with people, just like mini games or something. It was a little mini game. You have to tap all the all these icons that were swirling around on the screen, and if you were first to do it, then you were the fastest wake up on the wake up Okay, so no significant human interaction then, no, you could if someone wasn't awake, you could hit tap the button, you could tap the screen and it would make noise on their end that show. But you know, and after five minutes it gives up and your wake up club just fails. Sure because someone didn't wake up. I think Wakey sounds were dead, right, of course, Yes, that's probably it. Wakey sounds like a fascinating concept that I will never ever partake it. I will use it regularly, want to do with it. I feel like I would just randomly call people and just shout garbage. Okay, maybe maybe maybe being the call is ault the more appealing, but like, I don't want to see anybody first thing in the morning, much less talk to somebody I don't even know, although I'll say this, like any social network, so there's like a community tab on here and for some reasons, just like status updates for Waki and immediately all of them were just like, oh god, I keep getting dudes waking me up. What can't I get a cute girl? There's no girls on here, and like any time a girl posts a status, there's just eight thousand dudes be like, I love it. If you woke me up immediately turned into crap, I'd probably stay away from that tab. I want nothing to do with this. Maybe I just won't download the app that still want crazy people to wake me up. Maybe I'll make a female account do it. Yeah, then I'll wake up. I just realized I had my headphones on backwards. Oh this podcast is going great, This amazing stereo podcast if your headphones are on backwards, we all know that I'm not gonna sound right at all. We are back in the real, regular, fancy expensive recording studio for the first time, in expensive in like you know two thousand and four, yes, when they bought all this stuff. Sure, yeah, sure, so you know it has an iced d N line. Oh yeah, you're right. Zephyr sounds so zepher clandestine? Is that slower than T one three or whatever? Dramatically, I just would like in the napster days like T one and I S d N, where they's like, oh what what are these things? Even? Yeah, Like the speeds I DAN was like what single as DN I think was like twice as fast as a fifty six knel you get like dual band ice Like I think single band was just fifty six k It wasn't, but it was just more reliable. So the duel was one hundred and whatever yea twenty eight or something. I think that's right. Even even that, even that paltry bandwidth was something too lusted after in those days when you're dealing to the like one hundred and twenty eight Mega Pittsburgh's second MP three's hell yeah, yeah, yeah took, like you know, we were dealing with baud when I encoded my first MP three, my four eighty six, it took overnight. Oh yeah, included, Yeah, totally totally. I downloaded that south Park Spirit of Christmas thing before south Park was a thing. It's like something that was Yeah, that was their like proof concept thing. And then I remember my fourteen four ka mode. I'm going for like two days. Oh yeah, yeah, like megabyte fun. I think on fourteen four, like a megabyte is like an ad max throughput. A megabyte is like ten minutes or something like that. Anyway, Yeah, that sound quality should be back to normal this week. Sure, Yeah, as is the head count down to four people. Drew is editing Game of the Year videos, I believe. Ye. Yes, we got a lot of a lot of stuff left to do this week, ye before some of us start getting out of here. Yeah, it's the last full week for everybody in the end, Drew, I'll be here next week. I'm sure I I'll be here next week. Cool, excellent, Dan, I think you said you're here. Monday is Monday the twenty second, Yes, and yes, I think I'd fly out the next day. All right. I was on Monday and Tuesday and then that's it should be fine. All do so we'll do something. We'll do something fun. Next week, we'll get we'll get stuff will happen. There will be a podcast next week. Yeah, but I believe it'll be Yeah, it'll be like an email thing probably. Yeah. I mean, nothing's gonna be happening. We'll see where it goes. Yeah. When I when I said to clarify, when I said this is the last regular podcast of the year, I meant like format and everything. Yeah, there will be a thing next week and then a lot of things in short succession after that. Y's proclaiming our games of the year. That's right, all of them. Sure, it was every game all Todd congratulate. Everyone is a winner, a for effort, our person of the years. You. Yep. The website on the twenty sixth is just gonna have a mirror on it. Yep. You're gonna look at it and you're gonna be like, I'm the game of the year. That's it. That's right. Yep. Well, uh, I don't know about you, guys. I have not finalized my top ten yet. I'm getting there. I'm still are you. I'm getting close. Yeah, I know what my number one game is at that point, and maybe my my top five I feel pretty good about. But I'm still kind of sliding some stuff around. I guess you're just still chipping away at anything like last minute crammings like wow, does this make the cut? I don't know. I've been playing more Far Cry for, but I've played enough to where I'm I know where that's going to be on my list and I'm really liking it. Yeah, That's That's probably the thing I've put the most time into the last couple of weeks. The one thing I'm really struggling with is like Dragon Age Inquisition. It's like, I feel like I should like that game, and there's so many people that are just you know, head ever heels in love with it into a show stopping bug on that thing. Just last night, completely dead at a quest line. It's awesome. Which version replaying Xbox One? Did that one take the update? Ye, that's the one that had that. Every other verse you got a patch last week, but that one, I guess so, I don't know if that patch fixes the bug or not, But it's a case where like you are, it's one of it's basically like one of the companion quests like in mass fact or something like a loyalty quest type thing like there are you can't advance friendships to romances unless you complete this, okay, And basically one of them is hosed in such a way where it's like, oh, now this is completely unfinishable. So if I will say I looked the patch notes for that patch that came out on every other platform except yours. Oh wait, it didn't come out on an Xbox Spot. Yeah it got held for some reason, some bitch, Okay, But I will say, like every single complaint that came up on last week's podcast was on that list of changes, like cool stuff about like spontaneously changing voice on the character and like dialogue sequence is getting hung up and stuff like that. Yeah, can I get my guys off the goddamn crafting table. It seems like whenever I walk a certain path, they all just like bunch up on top of this table and they won't walk off. And I've got every load at any point of this, they just say, like, I'm not a crafting Yeah, get off the table. All right, Well, let's just go around the table. Now that we're back to a manageable number of people. Okay. Also, there's just just occurred to me there's no surge in here. Oh it's glorious. I am I gonna get through this podcast. Downstairs, I wish I had a surge right now. I'll be drinking that swill a fridge full of surge. D damn it. I should have brought one up. I think they're reproducing down there because I feel like we've easily gone through three cases. Yeah, there's that fridge is always stocked with surge. We had three cases in here, and then I brought in a fourth. Oh, okay, because I bought one. Explain it. You bought one and then somebody sent me. Okay, so you bought one and got sent one. I got sent to and brought her and then brought my own end. I bought it because I realized after drinking one that I didn't want to have that around the house. So there are five cases in total that at least I just keep from the empty cands with Fresca and putting them back. Oh I wish, oh I would I would stab somebody for a Fresco. Fresco. Fresco is not caffeinated though, right, No, that's maybe it's only flaw but could you still buy a Fresco. Yeah, you can Shasta Shasta thing out here. Yeah, chest Is Sata is from out here. It is. It is the Fago of the West. It's kind of the same company. They just don't they don't sell Fago here. They sell chats Is Fago only in like Detroit, because I've never seen that in the Midwest or anything. Okay, I don't know, but it's they don't sell Fago in the Midwest. Yeah, they don't. They don't primarily sell Fago out here because I think it is the same company that makes Shasta. They just sell Shasta here, and so you know, he's to the Rockies. It's Hellman's mayonnaise. Uh, and just like that, it's Fago or Chafts. Fago is in no way affiliated with the insane clown passing, just like I'm sure on some level they, you know, the Fago people keep that shit at arm's length and they're like stoked that someone is buying that shiture. But at some point they have to go, fuck, God, damn it, we can't embrace this by the natural marketing opportunity because oh, those fucking if they do. They would have to just lean hard into it. You know, it's either going they should. I mean they would have to have a custom flavor. It would just be like Juggalo punch and just like Wiggalo juice. What is Fago? Is it it's carbonated, Yeah, it's it's just a soda. Yeah, it's it's a bunch of different Yeah, it's a brand of soda. They have much different flavors or like soun anything out of the ordinary. Or is it just like knockoffs punch? Is it just keep punch? Is it just like knockoffs of existing red pop? Like they have like a kind of thing. Probably have a sprider, I don't just more fruity than than like sprite. I think default Fago is just a coke. You know that they do make that. Please don't send its fago actually actually for it, I'll try. I love fruit punch. I love fruit punch of any stripe. I like grape grapes good, yeah the best. I do, like me a good red pot. I want to know what Arctic Sun flavor tastes like, because it's the one that the Insane Conposse derisively said tasted like shit, too shitty for The Insane Clowns. They were like us unless it's that Arctic sun flavor. So over the Over the Thanksgiving break, I found myself watching about the first fifteen minutes of The Insane clown Posse's Western Oh God, I have Big Money, Rust Money Rustless. Yes, yeah, I follow up to Big Money Hustless. Yes, I watched about twenty minutes of it. There are several wrestlers like Jimmy Hart and Scott hall or in it. Oh, yeah, it's about it's about the list of people you like reaches in it, that's right, Yeah, bron Jeremy, Dustin Diamond, give him some credit. Yeah, my god, man, I couldn't. I thought it would be a fun novelty. Let's see how stupid this is a thing to watch and I couldn't do it. It's really readily surpasses all of your expectations. You have to be in, I think, to enjoy that movie and Big Money Hustlers, you have to be able to be excited by the notion that these people were allowed to make a film, yes, and have to be excited on some level that, like, man, those guys made a fucking movie. How crazy is that? Two movies yeah, it likes and and if that, if that does nothing for you, which it shouldn't, then you will get nothing out of big money wrestlers. What was the name or big money hustlers? The Western Town wasn't The name was just something like the town or something. Yeah, it's I can't remember. It's all. It's all exactly about the level of brow that you would expect. Yeah, yeah, yeah. The majority of discussion in the fifteen minutes that we made it in was centered on like, this is like a professional looking production. They got funding for this, No, they want to let them make this movie. And they did get funding for it. They liked they fund They make a lot of money like that much though the insane clown posse is is like quite a machine when he comes to touring. When it comes to I mean merchandise. They you know that hockey jersey. They they sold hockey jerseys with the logos of their albums on it. Those things were two hundred dollars. It shows Wow, so pretty well I have one. You multiply that, multiply that out and and look at the kind of cultish mentality that you know that they kind of inspire and kind of their their most dedicated they've got, They've got an audience that will consume like anything they put out. At this they are running the Kiss machine, they are running the Kiss playbook in a lot of ways. You know, they're like they're right down to the makeup, they're yeah, well yeah, sure, they're five steps away from like selling coffins like the Kiss coffin. Yeah, comic books that they're blooding it. Yeah, exactly cool shit like that. Well, okay, so you you know more about Juggalo a ICP than I think anybody here. Sure, Okay, let's go. Are they some kind of subversive Andy Kaufman's social experiment or are they exactly what it seems like They're exactly what it seems like. I mean, are they really that done? So? The big revelation, So when GameSpot's console coverage was largely fueled by the insane clown posse by consumption like we went through, we tore through CDs. We were working twenty four hour days for a little while there near the end and trying to get shit done and ready for the launch, and so we found ourselves going out and we needed a break, and all those hourshods like let's just go buy a bunch of fucking CDs and you eventually get to a point where you are like, I don't we need something we haven't heard before, Like this Mackavelli album only has six tracks on it. It's not going to cut it. And you go like, well, what is this thing with this fucking Joker's face on it? It has a sticker on it covering it's like saying that this is like two extremely Well we need to get this because it's called the Insane Clown Posse and that's probably we're fucking hilarious are we talking about here? Okay, So we bought Riddlebox the Third Joker's Card of Six and started listening to it and it's like, wow, this is like fucking really terrible, and then like you'll listen to it twice ago it You know what, though, like they're not that bad like as musicians, as like like the rapping, like there's a there's a quality. Yeah, there's a quality to this. And then you add to that the spectacle of like why are they like they're they literally like you dig into it just a little bit and go like they literally just up in clown makeup and they're just wrapping up murdering people like it's this kind of like horror core offshoot thing that you know has existed in other acts, and and you get to a point where you're like, all right, well this is okay. I guess, like knowing nothing about the culture that surrounds it, just listening to the album and going like, yeah, you know, not knowing about Juggalos and you know this pre gathering and all that stuff, right, yeah, yeah, basically, or you know, I think the gathering may have been happening at that point, but you know, hard to say so basically, yeah, we kind of got into it by accident. Not long after the site launched, some of the other people that were on staff and the guy who was my roommate up until recently went on a cross country road trip where they drove around to radio stations talking about video games. They happened to be in Detroit on Halloween and decided to go see ICP and they're like, well, well this is we have to close the loop on this and go see the Hollow Wicked show. And they went or it wasn't actually it was a rescheduled because it had gotten It was supposed to be Halloween show, but it got bumped from that because you know, violence, I don't know. So they went and saw this this show and saw them live and then came back and said this is they spray. They just they just dumped soda on each other the whole time. This lasted for this lasted for about nine months or so, and then you kind of realized, like this, they're actually terrible and kind of fell out of it at that point. But there was a brief, beautiful fling with the ICP there on a lot of our parts that that you know, once once you kind of the true nature is revealed to you. So the thing was like they're they're gonna put out six albums and each one is there's six Jokers cards and at the end it's all gonna be revealed, and they got to that last one and then like the big reveal was it was always about God. Yeah, yeah, you know, like the whole Dark Carnival thing was very much like there were morals attached to it, like if you if you listen to the songs and the people they were killing, you know, they were killing racists, they were killing you know, like dirty cops, and you know like like often times they were Jesus like this is something like, well, so that was like John Brown, that was the big reveal. Is like the whole thing was just like, oh, by the way, we're and it hasn't really come up since I you know, they didn't. They kept putting out albums after that and hasn't really come up. But a lot of their sound changed, and you know, they started mixing more guitars into it, and you know, it just kind of went to shit. So were they a Christian group? I don't know. At some point I stopped paying attention for the best news to me. Well, you've seen the movie, Yeah, some of them exactly if you've seen Big Money Wrestlers. You know, they're still wearing the makeup. They're still wearing Yeah, they are in the West cowboys, but they're still ostensibly it is set in the appropriate period, and yet they ride into town wearing the makeup and nobody says a word. You gotta live the gimmick. Good god, man, Jeff, Have you been playing any video games in the interest of Game of the Year or otherwise. Yeah, Yeah, I've been. I've been fitting in some stuff here and there. Yeah. Oh, let's see, I played a little bit of distance on the PC distance, which is it's out I guess I might. I think it's early it's early access right now, but it's a futuristic kind of racing drive driving game. I don't know about a racing but look like a super Neoni contrast. Look yeah, okay, I've seen that. Yeah, that's that's become available, and I don't know. It's it's like early on, not super impressive, but I mean I like the look of it a lot, so I'm kind of hoping it comes together in some interesting ways. But it seems like it's it's a little dune dish, like you can jump, you know, just push your button and you'll just spring into the air a little bit. Can you do anything in the air or yeah, it sounds like you know that, Yeah, you'll have wings and be able to flip out and do stuff. So I like flipping out the kind in and maybe going for that kind of rush maybe a little bit. But but that wasn't immediately evident, so I don't want I don't want to say that it's definitely going to get there, but it's kind of promising looking so far. Cool. I continue to play Call of Duty, I'm like level forty three now that prestige yet No, not yet in Prestigia fifty do you typically with call of duty? Do you proceed and then keep going or do you call it a day after that? You know, it depends. I don't know, because by prestiging you lose you know, most of your gear. So there's like there's I kind of felt like I had most of what I wanted to create a class with by the time I was kind of in the early thirties or maybe even in mid twenties, so you know, I could see land back up to that point, unlock what I want to use, and you know, we'll see how it goes. But I don't know, it's just been I've been just playing a few matches a day, just kind of even just like when I get in here in the morning, kind of before everybody shown up, or if if I show up early or something that was, get a couple of matches in and go. Was there any one call of duty that you really dug deep and prestige numerous times? No, No, I prestiged in Black Ops and in Modern Warfare two. I think, okay, there's the only two that I yeah that I did that, and I think four I did probably four or five prestiges, and Modern Warfare two I probably did two or three, and ever since then I usually do the like one prestige and then get out, like I did that with titan Fall. Generation thing with Call of Duty four. Yeah, I played the ship out of my god. Yeah, I mean great game that I played that game at max level a lot, Like, just didn't prestige, okay because I just the thought of going through it for the progression again and didn't necessarily appeal to me. But yeah, yeah, I prestiged in titan Fall and got about how way back up and before kind of getting bored with that because I because I had almost hit the cap before the game came out and that progress got wiped, and that one doesn't give you nearly as much of a steady drip of like unlocks and incentive to keep going, like it just seems like they're kind of few and far between. And titan Fall, well, I think the thing with titan Fall is that there's just not that much gear overall, so you know, unless you want something very specific that's a late unlock, I feel like, you know, I had everything I wanted to work with in titan Fall really really early and nothing to really look forward to. I think it's it's it's a problem with that game is that they don't have enough interesting stuff. Like if you play a certain way, and most people do, I think, you know, they kind of know, like here the types of weapons I gravitate towards, like if you're a shotgun guy or not, like you know that already, So you end up in a case where like, you know, there's only one shotgun in the game, so once you get it, you're done, and and that sort of stuff and the little kind of peripheral stuff these yeah, there's actually only one shotgun. It was only like kind of one of every weapon type in there, you know, which is on one. And it's like nice because it's you know, it doesn't have the bloat that some of these other games get with guns where it's just like this, you know, like way too many. But at the same time, like you know, as someone who as someone who likes the assault rifle in games like that's the range I fight at. The range I tend to play from. The assault rifle is by far the best option for for me and my play style. That's unlocked from the get go, So it's just sort of you know that there's not a lot to look forward to on that progression. So I think that's that ultimately, that that is maybe one Titan Fall's largest problem when it comes to like wanting to keep playing it and stuff like that, is there's not enough to look forward to. Jeff, do you want to talk about unlocking gear? Yeah? Sure, Yeah, I also have played some of that thing. Let's talk about the Darkness. You pick the right week to show up here, Jason. I'll admit I'm a little intrigued. Right, there's some some good stuff going on in this expansion of sorts, the Dark Blow. It's not cool. Thanks, That's all I needed to hear. Not not what good. I don't think it's good. I think it's slightly better. I don't think X as much about it. Kind of it's kind of more with some slight tweaks. Maybe the most damning thing I could say about that content is that the things that are good about it feel like they were hacked in around the edges, like developers are trying to make a system do what it wasn't designed to do, and like they they're plugging quests into the bounty system and figuring out ways to get things to chain that way in a way that like it feels like a hack. It feels like, you know, developers, they're like, well, we got to do something. Well, the system wasn't built built to do anything more extravagant than running up, running up to something and hitting X. I mean, I would say their biggest problem is organizing all of the existing content, or the shipping content rather visually on the map, because eventually you just run out of spots on a map to put missions right, they can redesign that entire hud, you know, the drop of a hat, you know, like that that's that's a short term that that problem is easy to fix. One it becomes a problem. I just you know, I feel like that's probably why they moved to the bounty area for the quests in the new one. I guess it's say they're running out of room on the maps, be like it, you know it, You turn in a bounty and they can immediately spawn the next step of the quest line. Yeah, so it kind of like stuff. It's stuff that the game should have done more directly. Stuff should be there building a quest log building proper quests instead of just like go to the map and select a thing like you know. To me, the dark below just kind of exposes that, like the system wasn't built in a robust enough fashion to for that game to grow the way it needs to grow. So they're kind of like poking in at the edges and trying to do what they can maybe, which is a bad thing to say about a game that you know, like needs that sort of help and also is supposed to be this big. It's supposed to be a big thing. Sure they should have accounted for that. Yeah, you would, you would like to think. So, yeah, well, let me know when the game actually becomes fun before. I mean, I'm gonna say, give it about two years, Like when when they get to a point where they're they're shipping something that is like Destiny too or something that is like a game was worth of content. When when they come back and say, here's a sixty dollars thing you need to buy. Okay, Detectamo was good, they'll probably shooting and every help. Probably they'll probably get it right about then. Okay, oh, I don't know, there's I mean, you're getting to the point where there's a pretty healthy amount of content in there. I'm talking about like before end game, though, like, yeah, it's pretty sparse, and keep in mind like that, you know, it's well, no, because the end game is nothing but playing all the content you already played over and over again. Yeah, so that you've seen all the content by the time you get to the end game. And then right now the available content is eighty dollars, which that's not a that's they did not fix the value problem by adding three more missions and three levels, three multiplayer maps. I will say, there's a little more to that thing than I expected there to do. Yeah, just on paper when we saw like you know, we've even kind of leaked before, yeah, the official announcement, but on paper it was like three news story missions, two strikes, and a raid, and it was just like, really, that's fucking it. But and that's kind of true. But then there's you know, there's there's a fairly healthy amount of stuff you have to go back and do between the story missions and get to the strikes. Yes, the things you have to go back and do is maybe like the largest problem with that thing in a sense, like you know, they read the did the so all of the weapons in that game upgrade. You know, you spend currency as you earn XP while having a gun equipped or an any item you know it levels up and lets you purchase certain upgrades for it. They redid a lot of that scale and also rescaled all of the exotic weapons and exotic armor as well to account for the higher damage and level cap of the expansions. Now you get to level thirty two instead of thirty right, So if you have these exotics, you can go upgrade them to the new spec the new kind of higher end of damage that resets all the progress on them requires a hold, and you know it eventually requires like you know you have, you're getting items that require different drops. Like they've added new currency to the system. They've added a new reputation meter to the game. Like all the stuff that was already kind of bogging Destiny down, they doubled down on a weird way that I think sucks. Well, here's what I don't get. It goes on something you just said Brad earlier, is that if I've gone through the game, I've played every story mission, I've played the strikes, I have not done the raid. But discounting that I've seen all the content there is, yes, in the sense that you've gone through every map there is. So basically, all these weeks and weeks of you playing, you know, dozens and dozens hours, you've been doing the stuff that I did this over and over hoping to get where current this is where the game is Diablo, and people don't acknowledge that. Yeah, they thought it was a hate like a Bungee shooter. Diablo gives me stuff though, yeah it does, but it's a much slower drill like and you have dry runs, and since I like, you know, it's frustrating, I just so it's it's a case of, like, you know, to get the most you know, like all these items that you're equipping can be leveled up, and you need to level them up to become strong enough to do like the hard mode version of the raid. So there is some sort of piece of content associated with like if you get there, you will make this due. It just seems like the getting their parts sounds so repetitive and boring. Repetitive, repetitive, yes, unrewarding. Sometimes yes I'm boring. I wouldn't say yeah it's fun if I gotten bored with it I would have stopped. I just I just don't see what the carrot on the stick is to cope. It's something's something's wrong. Whatever, go pull your fucking a mega mode. Yeah, if my guardian could fucking kick fireballs out of her feet, like, you know, we'd be back into sure. I mean, yeah, the particulars of you know, how often the loot drops or how the gear is designed are different from Diablo. But the same way people run you know, Act one of Diablo over and over again or whatever, is the same way you'll do strikes over and over at higher difficulty levels. Like it's the exact same concept. I guess that just appeals to a certain portion of the gaming population, because I mean, that doesn't sound fun to me. There are there are a bunch of modifiers in there that are effectively the Halo skulls. Okay, like if you like those, yeah, it's it's it's that like the high level missions, the endgame missions in that game are a bunch of Halo levels with a bunch of skulls turned on. So it's like I'm trying to remember some of the names, and I think, like like light Switches is like enemy Melee attacks are insanely powerful, so you can't let the guys who are normally the fodder guys that just get in your face and you kind of brush off, suddenly become like the most deadly guys in the mission. Or they have they have burned for the different types of elemental damage, you know, like the kind of electrical or fire damage or whatever, which means that when you use that type, you do like three times more damage. But the same is true the enemies. So it might be like arcburn one week, which is the electrical electrical damage type, and you want to go in there with that type of damage on your weapons, But then any enemy that uses that type of damage is like super duper deadly all of a sudden, Like there's a ton of a ton of little modifiers that change up the way the combat works, you know, at the higher levels. Like that's that's where the value of playing through the missions over and overcomes in Yeah, and and that that's the part where it kind of breaks from me, is like I don't I don't care enough about it. Yeah, Yeah, Like I think everybody has their own individual level of tolerance for how many different times or how many different ways they want to play. Yeah, there's there's a part of me, so, you know, Like, so I played through the expansion content and played through the two strikes on PS four. The one that is exclusive to PS four is pretty bad, by the way, Yeah, I haven't. I haven't played that one yet. It's just it's overly straightforward, you know. The I don't. I don't think the other strike is actually that great. I didn't blow my mind. I thought that the ending encounter was pretty good, but a lot of it takes place on kind of familiar Earth Earth maps. Yeah, yeah, so that that's kind of lame. It's hard, Like the everything in the expansion is a lot it's like noticeably harder, harder. Yeah, but now I'm at a point now where I'm like level twenty nine, and you know, because I had saved up enough currency playing the Bass game and doing all the ship that he needed to do that raid, didn't go spend all that currency. So as soon as this expansion came out, I was able to get an exotic gun and then buy new gear that would you know, took me up to level twenty nine, so I could grind on that stuff and eventually get to level thirty and that's the recommended level for the new raid, but like, I ran out of stuff to do much faster in this than than I thought. Also, like, you know, it's this sort of thing where it's like they made the they have daily missions and weekly missions in there too. They made those level thirty uh, right off the right, right out of the gate, which means that they'd be difficult for you know, me being twenty eight, twenty nine or something like that, whereas before, like you know, the the dailies and weeklies, you know, we're relatively trivial. So it's like they kind of bumped that stuff up in a weird way. And yeah, I don't know, Like I don't think that the content is great, Like like seeing them kind of try to be a little hacky with it is depressing because it says to me that they like are reaching the limits of the way that their questings, their mission system was built. Trying to think of what in there is something I would describe as hacky. I think it's specifically like the you know, the quests in the bounty log. Yeah, well that's more of an interface thing than it is like what can happen in a mission? Yeah, I guess like like maybe it's not that big of a deal, but it's one of those things where it's like, you know, they've they've totally deviated from their system they used to the entire games to try and make it a little more cohesive or whatever, or try to make it so you can't just go do the strike, you have to unlock the strike, completing all this other show. Well, that's where I was saying, you know, there's a little more in there than what was just on paper in terms of the numbers, because you know, you do there there are several sort of assassination missions that you have to go back to Earth and do, like track down specific guys and right, but it's like yeah, so it's like, you know, the thing you do is you know, eventually you have to kill these three guys and they're all in specific spots on Earth, and it doesn't tell you where they are, just is like this is where the last this guy is hanging out where you first encountered the hive, and you run in there and run into a corner and there's a guy ducked down to the corner. You blast him, and then a magic wizard appears and you gun the wizard down and then you're like, okay now and that's okay, I need to do that two more times. So it's like, you know, they're kind of building, they're they're even stretching this experience out by not being specific about where things are, which is you know, a fun trick. I guess. I don't know, like I didn't hate that part of it, but you know, you look at it and just go like, well, this is It's just it's just kind of it feels like another case of them trying to make something out of nothing. It's it's kind of padded a little bit or fifteen, you know, depending on how you buy it if you can, if you buy their Season passed, it ends up being seventeen fifty. If you bought the weird expensive addition of the game, I think it ends up being fifteen. Yeah, but you know, like the maps are good. The Crucible maps are good. I've played all three. I played on one of them. I don't know, like they're fine. I mean, you know, they're they're more maps. You have to like playing on the Crucis Bowl for that to matter. I don't. I don't hate the Cruci Bowl. M I enjoy it. Uh, yeah, it's a weird thing. Like if you if you're if you're down with every type of content in the expansion. It's probably priced reasonably, but you know that means you want to play multiplayer, you want to raid, you want to do the strikes multiple times, Like you need to be all in on Destiny for that thing to make any sense at all. I don't know if they have time to really beef up what's in the seven second expansion, but right I hope, I hope there's something at well. I mean that's the one that's rumored to have like an actually new playable area in the reef and stuff like that. Right, so we'll see how that thing goes. I feel like I heard that was February. I heard that as well, but I feel like they were saying since the beginning, like DLC in December and February. I could I could remember. It could be wrong, But for me, the big question is what happens after that? Yeah, what do they do after when they can really stake a step back and say like, all right, what is Destiny? Yeah, what do we want it to be? From here? We've done all the stuff that we probably had in development that you know, we promised, and they need to do They need to do something after that, something more grandiose. Yeah they do. Uh what that is, I'm not quite sure, but I hope it's not just Destiny too, Like I hope they've got some other ideas between now and though, if you think about it, Yeah, sure, sure, I mean, yeah, they need to treat that. I mean, for all the time they spend talking about that thing like it's some kind of MMO, which is fucking ridiculous, but you know, like all the weekly hot fixes and all the other stuff, that the way they treat that game, you have to expect that they have more in store for like live events and you know, stuff like that that you use that MMOs used to keep players playing. I started getting a little bit of that well like expansion or even sort of holiday event feel from running around on Earth though, where you'd like, you know, you find that you find the Hive guys they're like doing the ritual, like trying to summon stuff or like new kind of super powerful named mobs like spawning in and random places like were they trying to summon Santa? But yes, that's what they're trying to do. That would be way better. Yeah, that would be pretty good. But you know, it's just like it's like familiar areas that you've been in a thousand times. But I guess because you're so familiar with them that every little thing that's different suddenly feels like this like big new thing, you know what I mean. It's like, oh, shit's like there's something that is happening here in the fiction or in the world that wasn't happening before. I don't know. It's it's a minor thing, but it kind of has the same feel as lit old wild stuff. Uh do you do you intend to raid? I don't know. Maybe I want to see that raid. I hear, I hear. It's good. I would like I would like to see it. You know, it was interesting to see the first raid. Yeah, so you know, being that I'm like relatively close to it, you know, it was just it's it's gonna be another one of those cases like last time, where like you're probably gonna have to walk me through the nightfall at some point. We're gonna have to do that once or twice to get enough coins to get this. And I need shards, Radiant shards, no ascendant, old shit, okay to upgrade my shit. So and then at some point like sharts, Yeah, start, I have what I need to upgrade my helmet, my exotic helmet. When that one comes around, that one comes around in the slot machine, Yeah, the weekly weapon reset slot machine. Yeah. Whatever. Yeah, it's a shame, you know. And it's like, I'll say it again, like there are a lot of things about Destiny that are really quite good and it's a shame that the dressing around it isn't better. Yeah, I'm surprised it keeps you coming back to this point. You sit here at like level thirty or something, right twenty Yeah, because if I feel like keep mind, like me going from twenty eight to twenty nine was me going to the planet and buying two new pieces of Gears, right, you know, it wasn't like you know, it wasn't like a hot but and then and then I did that and then play through the content that was new to the expansion, and then as a part of that process, you know, or an f XP to spend some upgrade points on that stuff. Well, I'm just surprised you're that far because I feel like you're disappointment with this game really mirrors mind that, Like I played it, and I was expecting big things out of this and then I beat the story. I got to level twenty and I was like, fuck this game, Like I never want to play this again. And you something keeps you coming endlessly fascinated that it exists in its current form. Like I'm fascinated about everything about Destiny. I'm fascinated by the way they what they do from here, like from a business perspective, from like a customer retention perspective, Like what are they going to do to that game? Like that's the question I want to see answered. So like I'm endlessly fascinated by that thing. I think that you know, they're probably some very interesting stories about its development and why it ended up the way it did. And yeah, I want to see what they do from here because I suspect that many of the people involved in the production of Destiny know what Destiny's problems are announced a matter of did they put themselves in a position to where they can actually fix it, or did they slash and burn so much shit at the end that they're just stuck with what they have, And like when do they address that stuff? How do they address that stuff? That's the stuff that that I find really fascinating about destiny. And it sounds like from this offering like it does not sound like it's offering anything that fixes. This is not fixed destiny. This is just more destiny. No, no, And I feel like with some of the ways they've changed how some of the upgrades work, like they've made it a little more obtuse and a little more frustrating. Yeah, they're being shard. There was I mean, I definitely had my moment of like, well, I better head to read it and figure out what this and this and this do that, because you know, like what is a ruined corps? I don't know what that is? Should I buy one? What do I do with it? I have a weapon? Or what? I think? Murmur That fusion cord upgrade also against sucks. Looks ugly. Yes, I don't like the look of it. Yeah, but it works. Yeah it does a job, sure all right, full rate eventually sure anything else? Yeah, anything else? Mm hmm. You know, I my my kind of do everything play through a farc right for kind of slowly continues. I've got like two more towers to take and you know, like the four more uh outposts I messed around with Rock Bosher's d X director's cut. We did a quick look of that. That's up on the site. How many Jammi scones do you have now, I've found two Jammi scones. Okay, that's not very many. Two cheese is two teas. You need more to unlock the additional games in the arcade mode. So that's a weird game. It's a it's like a modern ZX Spectrum game. Oh you mean the ZX Spectrum sure, yeah, the time Xcent Clayer. Okay, yeah, it's a you know, they kind of made a modern spectrum game with tape loading time at the front of it and all kinds of weird shit. Yeah. Yeah, it's kind of a dual joystick shooter. It's just it's a fucking weird thing. Did it only come out on the PS four? On PC? It's on veto Okay, it's cross by right, I believe, so yeah, I don't know that was confirmed. Yeah, and a quick look yeah by me by you? Yes, I had the Internet very nice. Yeah, that's that's really I think that's the only thing I've spent like real time with. I'm kind of filling around some other stuff here and there. I finally figured out why this version of Dying Light that they sent us wasn't working properly and know how to fix it now, So should I ask? I mean, it's it's a Steam beta thing. Yeah, curious to see that it's not in January, right, yeah, like end of January. Cheez. Yeah. So you guys like that Island? Yes, No, I didn't like anything you did, Brad. Yeah, I'm getting kind of a profound issues. I thought, I thought that Dying Light looked really good in a way that Dead Island didn't. Yeah, just visually or yeah, visually, and you know, gameplay wise, it seems very similar. Yeah, yeah, except no analyt compass the good combat. You automatically hate it. Fuck fuck But I like ideas. Yeah, you know, the day night stuff, you know, seems like, you know, stealth game at night action during the day. The looks sounds kind of cool. Curious to see how it turns out. Jason, put down that searche tell me what you're playing. I can't. You guys got that Swiss the break you went and like you've got three cans of that garbage and now you're putting it inside of yourself. Okay, I have an important question. Are there any more free floating cases of serge around the office? Because those were the last three cans, and that that fridge is now empty of search. You looked on the top parties. I put a lot in the top That's where those three came from. Brad, I think we're out of search. Yes, yes, time for another break. Oh we'll pick up some more. Can you buy it locally? I think it's just Amazon really they corner of that market. I don't know, but I hope it's successful enough to where we see this exact can like at seven elevens and everything across the country very soon for another twenty years to come. I've missed dealing with this wonderfully nineties design that table for a Game of the Year podcast, which is constantly covered with search. It was bad, it was bad, it was fantastic ruined. Everything got us through a lot of a lot of hours of podcasting. Though, what are we doing? Video games? Jason? You don't forget about what you've been playing. Let's talk about street Fighter five. Street Fighter five is a game camp com all right? Great? Uh, we don't know when, but man it looks pretty so after that live demo. There was some implication that at least it would be twenty fifteen, I'm which I mean obviously it would be fingers cross thought that they didn't put a date, They didn't say anything about they said, really's timings to come? Yeah, yeah, we shall see. But so what we've seen thus far, you know, prior to you the Capcom Cup this past weekend, which you would like you went to, right, Yes, yes they did. But as far as the game is concerned, yeah, we saw it like a very minute gameplay trailer and then just like a little teaser in front of that. They held back a lot of stuff gameplay wise, and they showed that often like a live demo and a new gameplay trailer at at Capcomic Cup. Games looking great, like animation wise, huge step up, like a watching like street Fighter four you know, for like eight hours prior to that and then seeing street Fighter five on the main screen there was a big difference. To me. Maybe that's probably I probably need to go back and watch some four because like watching the matches of five that they played live there, like it looks nice, but it does look it doesn't look but it is, yeah, very similar. Whereas you know, previous Street Fighters I've had you know, kind of a jump you know between iterations. So like Street Fighter three was you know, big big change. Okay, you're saying that it's a big jumping animation. Would you say that it is like the two to three change? No, okay, no, not at all, Like, you know, even though you know, we talked about like the sumi a you know, our side of the brush truck style, that's not changing at all. But really this just seems like a much much, much prettier and a lot more animations. Are their focus attacks, I don't think so. Really, Yeah, there was there was a lot of speculation that came out of this trailer, people who were picking it apart, and like at the time it looked like there were Perrys, you know, which was a big thing in Street Fighter three, and people just lost their ship. They're like, yes, berries are in the game, but a lot of people like took the footage and broke it down afterwards, and I don't think they're Perry's in the game. It doesn't look like there's OTG stuff in their eyes. Yeah, Like it seems like those are like, you know, just normal juggle attacks. It doesn't seem like there's you know the guard crush that we were we were, you know, looking at there's no meter for it on screen anyway, right right, So I don't know what exactly is changing in this new iteration, but did you so the meters? Yeah, yo's got a two bar two segment meter chun Ley as three that's probably both labeled ex. You might be able to look like you were busting stocks. Yes, yes, you might be able to choose like your super prior to this, so it'll be different requirements to to kick that off. Re find busting stocks for the layman. You know how in an SMK game when you get like a fucking four meters saved up and you do that thing where Terry goes and then a different meter appears. Sure, that's you're busting a stock to activate. And then if you basically you can turn your super into a more intense version of it, if you do a super wow, that time is active, so you bust a stock, then do it so in so in this yeah, when like REU bust a stock, as it were, if he gets hit, he loses that. But if he does like you know, a regular fireball, it's like an ex version of it, and that seems to do kind of like a guard crush type of thing. Uh, and it's different with chun Lee though, like she can take it, but if she gets knocked down then it then it goes away. But okay, so that, Yeah, there's a lot of characters specific stuff, so we can't really get a super good gauge on what you know. The overarching game play is going to be so far and has a revenge meter, which I mean that's a ultrameter. Yeah, basically, Yeah, I don't know what Charlie's in it. Yeah, I guess Charlie's gonna Wait how do you know that? Because Oo came out on stage dressed as Charlie and said Charlie will be in It'd be Nash, Charlie Nash, Charlie Nash is that is that? What it is? Nash is his last night? That was the justification that which actually was it Charlie here and Nash over there? Yes, yes, how it was. Yeah. They also showed him in at the very end of the teaser trailer that kept com Okay, I haven't actually watched he saw the game play in the engine like in the game. No, no, no, no, no, at all, just a pre rendered him, like picking up his glasses. You can see his in a distinct hairstyle. But he had a gem like right in the middle of his forehead, like Uran and like a street Fighter three. Fuck, I don't know what maybe like a shadow lou robot or something like yeah, like a resurrection type thing? Is he? Is he dead in the timeline? I think so? Who? Well, so that was the thing? Is he he was? Did he died after Alpha? Like guy? I was looking for Charlie and street Fighter two? Right, which four is set after the events of Alpha, and like able is looking for Charlie. Wait, apparently trained with him or something? Hold the phone? Yeah, did you just say four is after Alpha? Yeah? Four is after Alpha? But doesn't Alpha after before one? No? Alpha is after one, before two but before two? But yeah, wait, so four is a prequel to two? Oh god? Yes two? Four takes place before two. Bison is dead in the Street Fighter three? Time and time? Wait? Three is the I know that? What is the latest street Fighter timeline? We have? I do that, But I thought four came after two. I'm losing my grip on reality. I did not. I don't know anymore. You're saying the four comes before two, I don't think so, which blows my mom. Okay, okay, maybe, okay, maybe it's okay. Alpha is between one and two, yea, and then it's four between two and three. That was my understanding. Yeah, because three is yeah, kind of in the future. Okay, that makes a little okay, but five is after four, but still before three. We don't know. Probably, I'm guessing it's not that important. If like the biggest Street Fighter fan I've ever met, well, I mean Charlie is in it. Well, shit, if he's got a weird gem, then he mean he might be resisted because Charlie is dead as of Alpha. The end of Alpha. Sure, I think that's what happened. It's so weird because it's not like one real strict cannon. You don't find out until like the next game, what actually happened in the previous game. Where does puzzle fighter fit in? Oh, it's it's puzzle Fighters much like God. It exists outside of time and space that puzzle fighters before and after and now yeah then now somewhere right now yeah exactly, yes, But regardless of where the timeline ends up, I don't know where the gameplay is gonna end up either. So I'm like tentatively excited. I don't know how this is going to shake out. I was super excited after initially seeing that trailer and thinking, oh God, this Berry's is all this crap in it And it turns out there's not. But you're gonna buy it on every console of course these Oh that's right. Yeah, yeah, it did. It seem like the environments were or the stages are more kind of interactive or more animated, like, oh yeah, it seemed like it seemed like as they were kind of especially when they kind of went into the Raman shop in the second round. I think it was in the second round, wasn't it or was that mid match? Yeah, there were. There are a couple of matches like destructiblements you crash and then you actually start the next round inside the Ramen shop. But it just even like as they were sort of thumping around in the restaurant, it seemed like a lot more stuff in the background was kind of reacting to the action. If you if you watch some of the I mean, It's street Fighter four had some of that stuff, but it did not have it did not it did not have hot noodle bowl action. So yeah, Chunley got knocked into like a closet of the Raman restaurant. But uh, quick little comedic things, you know, the ramen noodle bowl falls and saw that. It's like, oh, she's messy. But then she starts the next round with the ramen noodles on her head. Pretty good. Yeah, it's pretty cool and it stayed on there. They say it's pretty awesome. Yeah, that is kind of neat. Does it do damage? Like? Is it hot? I don't think so. Okay, oh that is something that's kind of new, like you block normal attacks and it'll take off chip over right. Yeah, so but it's recoverable chip, isn't it. I don't look at it was like white bar probably I don't know yet. Yeah. Yeah, this is still you know, probably early alpha. But I'm curious about the roster now. Fuck yeah I'm too. I was already but hearing the thing about Charlie then m a excited for chi. No. No, but it's just you know, one armed sonic booms man. You gotta be a character. His character you haven't seen in a while. And it also implies maybe like a certain you know, either a certain time period or something weird going on with the storyline. Yeah, I think it's time for them to dip back into the Alpha roster. I think so. Yeah, I'm trying to think who didn't they pull in because they definitely Alph Yeah, like you know, Karen, Karen. I mean there's there's a ton of people. I think they're like eight hundred and thirty seven characters from out three yet yeah, yet to be reprised. I guess I just didn't you know, I liked ALFA three but didn't play a ton of it. So that's one of that. That's where the that's where some of those characters ended up showing up. Yeah, there was a huge roster and uh and Alpha three. But that's for sure, Cap Cop Cap was pretty fun. Yeah, Yeah, that was good. That was a good time, was it. It's pretty much just competition wall to wall. Yeah, that's all that, except when they have a new three fighter that's not exactly an invite only it's like you have to earn enough points over the course of like you know, a season, and like they're specific major attorneys you know, held throughout the world where you know players you know, score points and if you score enough points, then you get invited to this event. Sure, that is a big top sixteen double elimination tournament. How does how does this factor in with EVO? Like which one is? Evo is well, but I mean more in terms of prestige, like EVA was still a ship. Okay, Yeah, it's like if you just just because you won the Capcom Cup doesn't mean you're like king of the world. Right, Evo's the Super Bowl, I guess, And then I guess Capcom Cup is like the Pro Bowl. All right, if that makes any sense. Yeah, sure, not like not everybody goes, but you know that's still a bunch of heavy hitters. Yes exactly. Was there was? Yeah? Was there about Jo? Yeah, he's totally there. Neither of them did very well. Who ended up taking it? I'm Emochi, which is he's a Ken player Japan. They had a really kind of diverse of roster of people characters, which is Yeah, it's strange. Was all the competition Street Fight or four? Yeah? No, Marvel, Capcom No, nothing, nothing really, I mean Capcom doesn't even have that deal with Marvel anymore. Like the stuff expired. They can't support Marvel. I can't even buy that on online. Yeah. Oh wow, Like the DLC disappeared and stuff like the pat I want to say, like patches for that game are not even downloadable anymore. Sh like that game when it went offline or when it when the deal expired. Weird shit happened and people were freaking out for a little while. Wait at Capcom had to kind of come out and go like, no, actually it's not gonna be as bad as you're saying, but I'll be back. Like you're talking about three here, right, Yeah, the game that is like came out what twenty eleven game was like three years old last year at some point is when all this stuff happened. Yeah, right before the end of the year. Wow, I must have completely missed that. That is insane. Yeah, swept that under the rug. Wow. Oh, by the way, you're not gonna be able to get any of this stuff online anymore. She should probably buy it now. That's terrible. They did like deeply discounted it, So that's terrible. But was that on Stane No, No, that never came to PC, not at all. Well, crikey, that sounds like an eventful event. Yeah it was. It was a good time. It's a strange event because you know, they're trying very hard, you know, because this is like a Capcom published thing, Like they're really trying to make it like an esport type high production event. But the fighting game community they're just like mmmm, they're so resilient to that. On one hand, you know, they want players to to be you know, highly sponsored, and they want all this money for these events, but then when there's some glitz and glamour plit put into it, they're so resistant to it. Yeah, I can see that, but they want that ship grimy, Yeah, yeah, they do. It's kind of it's weird, kind of kind of can't have it both ways though, right at a certain point, Yeah, it seems like it can you get enough money in there, it's going to become corrupted and there's nothing you can do about it, or it's you know, it's not going to be the grassroots like garage thing that it used to be. Yeah, but I think they I do a pretty good job of bridging the gap. There was some weirdness there, like they had this really long halftime show with a a rival who's you know, very big in the community as far as like you know, creating remixes and stuff, and then then the Megas, which are like a Capcom house band of sorts, you know, they do a bunch of like MegaMan remixes. But like, during that, like the stream was just tearing these these guys up, and the entire time that I was sitting there, I'm like, well, shit, this is like a half hour, forty five minutes of time they could have been spent on these matches, which were only two out of three games, and granted was a double elimination tournament, but you know, when you're dealing with, you know, these heavy hitters and stuffing like this, I wanted to see more, more game out of it. So that was kind of disappointing, But otherwise, Yeah, a good show. Good Are you playing anything else? Guilty Gears? With the end of the year approaching, Guilty Gears ext Dessert. Yeah, I picked up my PS three copy, the digital one from Japan and wait a minute, Yeah, wait what what didn't I sit there and watch you buy it on Japanese PS four? No, you saw me buy it on the p S three. Oh that was the PS three version. Oh you watched me download the PS four demo. Oh that's what you were doing at that point. Okay, but yeah, fully translated. Maybe there's great, but then yeah, game stop. I guess let up on the street day, so I bought the PS four copy over the weekend. So only real difference is in seven twenty on PS three and then fully ten eighty on PS four. There's some weird like performance mode, like it'll go sub sixty on the p S three version, and there's a slider where you can actually change it to the like you know, quality or performance or something like that. Weird, but otherwise yeah, PS four is yeah, full eighty sixty frames looks phenomenal. Great, Still a Guilty Gear game, still a gift. I want to see how are you liking it? I will how how you liked Guilty Gears. I am amazing at that game in the training room. Soon as I play against somebody, it's my ship yea, And yeah, that game's it's an anime fighter, man, it's execution based. It's those those games just super technical. Yeah, yeah, they're very technical and it's hard to get into, especially in like a competitive environment. But but just mashing stuff out, practicing combos, yeah, it's super fun. Story mode is actually kind of good. So there's a yeah, decent single players. I want to see it in person. I just I want to marvel out you should you should come into work tomorrow. I want to I want to ogle it. You might get that chance for myself very soon. I want to see maybe you can press the dust button for yourself. I just want to make that. I just want to see the Cameron do stuff. But then if you press the dust button, all right, that shit happens. I'll do that. Then other games, No, I started playing a little bit more of South Park. That's I am enjoying that, and then far Kray as well cool, and then Dragon Age whenever you know, I want to hate myself the games of the season. Yes. In other words, yes, Dan, how are you faring with said games? I'll make it a hat trick and say I'm also working on farkright four talk about Far cry for because I'm also playing it. We keep bringing it up and then not discussing it. It's great. Is it a radical statement if I say that game might have a little too much content? There's stuff in there that I don't necessarily want to do. And the way that they present some of the side missions by like at the fast travel point, having someone who yells at you to do this hell me. So maybe maybe it's not that there's that. Maybe it's not that there's too much content, although I feel like the number of different types of side missions is a little imposing. But but maybe maybe you're right. Maybe it is the way they get in your face with SID So I feel like there actually there aren't that many different types content. It's like, there's there are hostage missions. There are like if you go look at the progressions, well, so I did look at that. Do those when they say, like, you know, hostage missions, etcetera, etcetera, is that referring to the ones the sort of generic missions the spawn at the checkpoints or the outposts. Yeah, like whenever you take over an outpost and there's a person standing there, yeah, it's either eye for an eye or hostage, So those those fall into Yeah, so do those fall into? Like there are two types of hunting side explicit categories, So I haven't taken over a ton of outposts, so if those start repeating then that makes a little more sense. But still like, yeah, there's there's hunting and racing, there's the multiple types of convoys to deal with, there's all the karma stuff. It's pretty easy to avoid the stuff you don't want to do, Like I have no interest in doing the racing stuff at all. Yeah, that's the thing with me. I'll see the stuff in my map or if somebody's shouting to me, it's like, oh God, like I can I could literally go honey Badger. I can literally be like flying by on a buzzer or a hang glider or something, and if there is a karma thing happening below me, I have to like parachute down and take care of it, Like if you're if you're compulsive about doing everything you see in games like that, they make it really hard to ignore a lot of the stuff that I think the karma things though you don't have. I don't think that's a specific thing. I think those will just kind of pop up, like and we're not analyze it. I know you're not, I know, but every time I see one, I'm like, I could get more karma. Yeah. The one I don't know about is when it says that your outpost is being attacked, nothing happens to you. Yeah, there's no like you win something if you do it, but you don't really anything. You know, it's a karma event basically, well, you're rated. You're rated on how many guys you kill in those things, and you get yeah there's actually yes, you get an XP number based on how much or how many guys you killed. Okay. The thing I can avoid is I bought all the maps. So if I see that there's a mask or you know, a propaganda poster or one of those spending wheels like I have to do check down, oh yeah, just buy them all immediately. It gives you way too much money in that game. Like I got to the bar where you're building up that house. I was like, I'm spending four hundred thousand and five hundred thousand on fucking trees and stuff of this house just because I don't have anything I spend it on. I've got my wallet's getting full. You're just like, well fuck it. Yeah, most of my guns. I can't even buy attachments for some reason. So yeah, I'm just blowing it on whatever just so my wallet doesn't fill up. Yeah. Yeah, money not really an issue. Yeah, but again, one thing no one's talking about is the co op I think is super super fun. I've been doing story missions on my own since you have to do that, and then when I play co op with my friend Brian. We just like eight, let's just go and do random that. That's where the Eye for nine missions, the assassinations, the hostage rescue. It's so much more fun with two people where it's like go to the spot, you're both gonna get shotguns. You gotta sneak up on this guy and kill them. It's really fun, like scouting out out posting stuff like that with a friend and then going in and killing them. Yeah. I've been having a blast doing man Is. It's a tied to the campaign at all. In the previous game, it was like a weird offshoot. Yes this is this is in world like you seamless kind of jump in jump out type stuff. Yeah, I jump into my world. The same posters are up and everything. You know, they count when I take them down. It's been pretty easy to do neat Okay. Yeah, it's great and I've been doing on Steam and you can do it without too much you play crap. I think you might have to be you play friends, but yeah, once you get it set up, it's pretty easy. Okay. I feel like the more I play that game, the less I like it as a shooter. In some ways, specifically, like just kind of the loop of how much damage you can take and then how you heal and like kind of repeating that over and over. It's a lot of like, yeah, I'm gonna run away and then take this bullet, right or it's like like you kind of can't be out in the open in that game unless you want to be japping a syringe in yourself every twenty seconds. Yeah. So the thing that happened to me is, you know, like I've been playing other shooters where you know you can survive out in the open, right, and then so going back to Far Cry was a lesson. They're like, oh right, I need to get out of the way. Yeah, I solved that problem by just calling in guns for hire and maybe those guys show up and just everyone starts shooting at them. You just run around and break everybody's neck. I just I just did the mission where they're trying to blow up the big statues. Yeah, they're like kind of symbols of hope for the people. And there's so many guys there out in the open. There's like it's like fifteen guys in that area, and just like every time I would trip an alarm, they would all and one of there's one of them is a sniper way up on the don't take that guy at first. Well I didn't have good enough sniper rifle to get a good shot at him. But just you know, you're a magnet for fire and you're out in the open, like you're going to go down in about fifteen seconds. You kind of you know, you take damage during all of the kind of canned animations that you're doing for everything. In some cases it just while you're healing, yes, yes, like dying while healing, or while in the middle of like a multi stage like take down animation or whatever like that stuff is just not it's a little sloppy. There is some weird stuff. Yeah, like you know when you go to Shangri La and there's the giant bells. That was specifically where I had that problem. Okay, that's right. Yeah, I went to go ring it and like three dudes were just hacking at me with machete's while the animation was going on or not even that, Like I've got the I've got the perk now where you can just push the stick toward the next guy you want to assassinate. Yeah, so I was doing that, but you take damage while you're in the middle of like moving from guy to guy, and I was dying like in the middle of a multi part STELFI has that, Like that's that's the first place I ran into the YA because I think it gives you that chain takedown thing there even if you don't have it. But yeah, so I've been trying to I've been doing side stuff specifically because I want to fill out the entire upgrade tree. Yeah. So it's led to me doing more of that side stuff than than maybe I even want to. But most of it's fun. Like, yeah, it's fun. The whole thing is really enjoyable. I really do. I'm I had a great time with it. Yeah, like I have. It's have a great time. Yeah, Like having the grenade launcher makes those convoys really fun because every time they come through, no matter no matter what happens, something goofy or funny is is gonna pop off, like some jeep is gonna flip end over end or some dumb cars. I don't I didn't tick around the grenade launcher. I just got the rocket launcher. No, I mean for your side arm, like the one you can shoot while you're driving. You're talking about bread. Yeah, yeah, because it's so from a car. Yeah, you're just driving and a car man. Try a buzzer. Oh yeah, that's flying around, which sore ind over over top of them. I've been using the the you play pistol. Yeah, okay, you can have both. I've got the RoboCop. Yeah, I've got Yeah, you can have both. I've got the RoboCop gun and the one armed grenade launcher. Yet I wouldn't. Yeah, all right. The grenade launcher makes it awesome, sound too, from like T two when he's walking out of c Yeah, that's that's awesome. It's super satisfying. Yeah. Yeah, the buzzer thing flying around and like trying to hunt rhinos, just shooting grenades down on rhinos while you're in a hell. Oh I should do that. The easy way to hunt rhinos is you get the sticky grenades upgrade. Yeah, yeah, then you stick you stick to grenades to a rhino. That's almost enough to kill it, but not entirely when you and shot off with a gun. I love the sticks. Is there is there a way to get Is there a way to get a clean kill? One animal? That big? I got a bow kill on a rhino, but I had to get like on a rock that he couldn't really get to, and I shot him a lot. Okay, that doesn't sound fun. I love the sticky grenades because, like if you're just on a road and some random red truck drives past you and there's like three dudes and you just throw the sticky grenade of the hood and before they can even stop and open up all their doors but dad and blowing up all over the hills, that game is just awesome. Yeah, yeah, it's It's a damn good time, Yeah for sure. Uh, outside of that, I went into a rabbit hole on Saturday night. You guys are aware, I've been playing a lot of metal Gear Withdrew and he's not in here, so I can say this. We're at the part we just recorded, the one where he's going down into Arsenal gear and Meddal gear solid too. Okay, so things are about to go full scale bonkers. Yeah, okay. And I wanted to make sure that I was somewhat caught up on stuff, and so I was just I watched a lot of videos, I read a lot of like metal gear wiki stuff, just trying to remember like what the Wise Men's Committee and the Philosopher's Legacy and all this slots and yeah, there's just so much in the as three projects and all this, like, uh, this is not okay. Hang on, Well, the Wiseman's Committee sum of money most right, that's America, China and Russia, the leaders they all had. The legacy is a sum of money, right, yeah, like a like an a downment or a trust. Yeah, and like a bunch of old paintings and stuff like led to this immense wealth. It was like one hundred billion dollars in like sixty seven or something, so it would be worth like one point four trillion today or something. But that three is heavy on that. But yeah, just reading out because I know Drew is about to get some major info dumps on what the Patriots are. And as a lifelong huge Metal Gear Solid fans like confusing info dumps too, Like, yeah, it's not the most straightforward information in MGS two. I've spent an unholy amount of time thinking about and reading about those games, and I don't know if I have a full grasp on on the Patriots. I asked Jason recently and he's like, oh, fuck, no, of course not I can't even figure out the Street Fighter timeline, right, I can't deal. That's easy. It's like there's Yo and then the la lu lu la loo. Yeah they got together. I heard that, Okay, all right, So yeah, I just I watched a ton of videos and stuff, and god, it just reminded me of how much awesome stuff there still is to come past two and at the end of two. But then I just wound up drinking whiskey and playing Ground Zero several times and remembering how amazing that game is. Ground Zero. Yeah, yeah, I was doing the thing where since it's you know, conceivably going to tie into the Phantom Pain, I was like, okay, well, I want to do everything I can in Ground Zeros to make sure I have the ultimate Phantom Pain experience or whatever. So I rescued all of the prisoners near Chico and everything and did my best to not get caught a ton. But man, it's it's been too long since I played Ground Zeros, and all this talking about and thinking about metal gear is getting me so excited for a fan of pain, and nothing gets me more excited than playing Ground Zeros because that is it plays. So yeah, it does play quite well, yeah, I'm looking forward to twenty to thirty more hours of that. Oh yeah, what are the odds of the fan of Pain has ground zero is in it? I would I would expect that they would have a version of the game that would come with both. Yeah, but they should. Yeah, it's it's for all intents and purposes like the tanker mission of this one. Yeah, except they sold it separately. Yeah. Yeah, I could have just packed it in with the news zone of the enders. Uh your Negro next health club visit? Yep, because what else would Gonami put a demo in At this point, I don't even know do they even make games anymore? Soccer? Soccer, soccer and metal gear? It's about it? Lords of Shadow two? Yeah? Is that it? I played some my DARB that was fun around here. It's fun played one on one which works surprisingly well. Yeah. I probably just say that because I won in in person or over the internet. Over the internet some random dude I play it against, and uh, obviously I wasn't like broadcasting and so we weren't getting like Twitter bombs or anything like that. It was just a straight up when I won match, and it was really fun. How many people can play online though. That's that's when we were searching when we had four people on UPF. Yeah, we try to search and it said searching for a group with four players. It seems like it's two Xboxes Max. Okay, so it'll be like if you have three people logged in, it'll find it'll look for three people, okay, yeah on one other Xbox though, you know, and similar it'll look for an even team. But it looks like it'll look for one other machine okay. Yeah. It didn't give me an option of like, do you want to play four and four and we'll find you teammates, Like it was, Hey, we know you have one person, so we're gonna find one person because you know that it would be a leggy shit mess if there were like, you know, eight different consoles. Yeah. Probably yeah, And that game is just total chaos and stuff. But I think it does it well. Yeah. I see the comparisons to the Tower Falls and Samurai Guns and whatever mini sports whatever people want to call it. I love that genre. O me too, me too? In this mini sports yeah yep, yeah, so it's fun. Did you did you come out with that brand? I did? You did not? I did really go back like a year. Wow, I was beating that drum for months. Nobody would listen. I'm listening. I like it. It's been a long time. That Twitter stuff is. I hesitate to call it next level, but it's pretty cool. Yeah, it's pretty cool. Yeah it is. It's like it's like what they tried to do with some of the PS four streaming stuff with like dead Nation happen to like Twitter voting on like what should happen next, but like done more sensibly or more chaotically, well both. You know, you know, the game is built in such a way that you know you can have that kind of just random influence and it's not gonna totally destroy the experience or or you do it on upf And the only hash bomb people know is laying his own sus lying every four and a half second nightmarish mug of laying God damn it. I can't believe that made it into the shipping game. Of course, I really thought that was coming out. Apparently a Giant Bomb team is no longer in there. That was in there when we did the preview ages ago. Yeah, that game's pretty cool. I liked it, uh pretty much. Just cry and Destiny for me at the moment, I need to circle back to a few more things in the next lake. What do we got a week and a half, It's just about until our top tens have to be fully locked in. Sure, yeah, let's say I think I pretty much know what I'm doing, but I should play some more stuff, should play some more Banetta? Yes, God always, yeah, totally. Yeah, Well, there's plenty of time for that. But for now, what do you say we take a look at the headlines for the week? Sure, yeause, there's kind of some After the absurd explosion of stuff that happened last week with the game Awards and PlayStation experience, y'all remember that things popped off. This week is not so exciting by comparison, but good still some things. Yeah, you know, a lot of people are already starting their vacations. It's not it's not time to be breaking a bunch of news. It's time to be reflecting, reminiscing about the console sales in November twenty four days just to two whole weeks ago. Yeah, npds came out and the Xbox One finally for the first time as outsold the PlayStation four in the United States. That's what happens when you cut the price significantly North America and offer a bunch of free games. Yeah. Yeah, Like I think they went out of their way to try to think it was that would have been far more surprising if they had not been the number. Oh if they if they had not won this month, that'd be like some packet up type ship right there. It'd be like, all right, no one wants what you're selling, guys very much, even at a stark discount. Ye, but they're still you know, it's like, you know, like they were out there yesterday saying, like, you know, you can get Sunset over Drive for like thirty five bucks stuff like that. Like they're they're just trying to get that ship into people's hands. Want to say it was also cheap. Yeah, it just seems like it's there there, you know, Like that whole thing is seemed like a case of them just going like, all right, we need to build up some market share. We closed some of these gaps and get this stuff in people's hands, and hopefully they will like it and start talking about it, and that'll have a knock on effect in the year to come. Take a hit for a while, Yeah, take a hit for a little while, you know, like that they've got enough cash to afford it at this point. At this point, it feels like they're treating the entirety of twenty fourteen as right off. Sure, you know, yeah, but yeah, it seems to have worked. We haven't we haven't gotten our eyes on any MPD numbers ourselves just yet, but I'm gonna say tentatively, it sounds like the numbers floating around or fairly accurate from what I've heard. Yeah, I guess people people were out there, People were out there quoting like one point two million for the Xbox and something like eight hundred k for the PS four. Yeah, yeah, just kind of you know, it seems it's consistent with the lot of their photos. People were posting of retail spaces on Black Friday with like you know, Xbox kiosks kind of picked clean and still some PS four bundles sitting around, which makes it seems like, if nothing else, like you know, it seems to drive home at the prices is continues to be the number one determining factor. Sure, I mean, you know, you look at some of these, you know, big Marquee releases, and you know the versions for the old systems are still the number one seller, so you know, right, clearly there's room to grow. Yeah, both of those new platforms. Hey, there's not a lot of like, you know, exclusive wise, you know that's different between the two consoles. Yeah, right now, right, Yeah, there's three new consoles. How's that third one doing well? Which one that's not really? Who? Yeah? No, Nintendo? Remember Nintendo? Yeah, yeah, that's they put out. They put out that like new three D. They put that thing out like two years. They put out that like tablet add on for the Wii a while back, but I don't really use it very much. Yeah. Yeah, that that purp role. Uh yeah, that's the only way to watch TV. Okay, that's great. Uh yeah, how's how's we you doing? It had a big game bred Bayonetta. I haven't seen any number and we haven't some I can't speak with authority here, but it's got to be killing. The word on the street is not well. But it had a really good year. Sounded like it sounded like they did not move an enormous number of unit. Did they They even do any kind of Black Friday promotion though? I don't think there was. Maybe they left that up to retailers. Yeah, I don't think there was any kind of like Big Galla we Bundle. We look at something like Smash Brothers. That's the that's a game that sells to the people that have been buying these we use all along for the past couple of years. It does not appear that there was a giant rush on we use systems to play Smash Brothers. There was at least some kind of Black Friday things. Remember Danniel Dwyer was like, Okay, well, I guess I'll finally get we U but I don't remember which retailer it was. Yeah, I'm sure, Like you know, that's kind of vary from place to place. Yeah, that's a shame if it didn't so well this year, because I mean this was the year that they actually had a very strong one. Yeah. I mean they're kind of they're kind of running out of like jewels in their crown, right that we'll get That's what I'm saying. Like Zelda is kind of it, right, like Urban Champion two huh Yeah, Like what else do they have? King Crew? They could bring that back. I guess you do. Mock Rider who star Fox but eight I don't star Faith Felix. Star Fox is always kind of like a B tier franchise. Yeah, I don't feel like star Fox is something that sells consoles and it's just like hugely different and are you are dramatically impressive? And they've all sucked since six? It's to me it's I mean, to me, it's Zelda, like maybe a new Metroid game, and you mean they've all sucked since the ness? Uh, sixty four is much better than this nest. Come, I love this game, star Fox. Yeah, star fucks sixty four is a great game. Yeah, you know, and Superintendent went great? Do you ever play Star Fox two on this nests? Have you actually played that? Yeah? Really, I was at CS when they were showing it. Really wow, aren't there like ramhacks and stuff? That stuff got out? Yeah? I don't know. Does it looked just like they turned into a tank. It's fucking crazy, like the stuff you know what game you can do that? Yeah? I know that, like they you know that that stuff came from star Fox two. Okay, Yeah, it's a weird thing. Yeah, I mean, you know, Zelda, a new Metroid and then like maybe a totally new Mario game, not another three D world like like d S knockoff like a Galaxy right, like a like a full like a new kind of a new vision for what Mario could be. I don't want to downplay what three D World was. No, no, No, it's incredible. It's a it's a great game. But I'm saying it's like if you play the three D S version for the three D S game rather than than that kind of quiet sequel the three you guys, now, I do want a full scale new like you know, the successor to Galaxy I doubt they would call it Galaxy three or anything. No, they need to do something new. But yeah, because they're gonna two of those. But but the point is, like you know, if Mario Kart didn't do it and Smash didn't do it, there's not a lot of it helped. But you know, they're not hitting critical numbers of of you know, on the installed days. It's not for another we sports. But do they need to I mean, is their business model like we all talk about it like it's some equal competition, like, oh, if they're not out selling the other guys, oh, I'm sure like on some level, I'm not talking about out selling the other guy. It was very like quietly racking up software numbers and like the games that they're selling are selling a proportion though, I mean when they're selling like you know, they're they're out there touting a million sales for Mario Kart when they sold something like thirty million copies on the Wii, Like that is a profound fucking reduction. You're right, but the WE use not the we was a special case. You can't expect that we U T You're right, numbers, you're right, but but these these are bad numbers by any standard for Nintendo. Like, sure, a million copies of a new Mario Kart game, like that's not. Come on, they get those three d s bucks, They're fine. I mean, yeah, I'm not saying they're going out of business or anything, but the you know, the what the future is for the WU seems somewhat hard to determine. You know, yeah, I guess, But like Nintendo has a for for multiple generations now has been about the system you get to play Nintendo's games on, Like they'll keep making those games probably, but you know, at a certain point, like what are their shareholders expect? Sure, what is their their own internal metric for success? Right? Yeah, that's that a little tougher to ascertain because you know, we don't really know. Yeah, but yeah, not not in any way saying they're going to go out of business. It's just you know, what do they consider a healthy business versus like when it's time to take a step back and start thinking about new stuff. But hey, those other systems are doing a brisk business. It seems like it. It seems and you know, for whatever relative faults they both may have, you know, it's nice to see the competition getting pretty close, at least in the US right from the sound of it, because that you know that that just means better things for everybody. If you know, if their Neck and Neck I Darb is gonna be free when it comes out in February. Yeah, for people that have gold Yeah, yeah, I guess they're they're finally getting into the PlayStation plus model of putting out or like making games. When they first launched that thing, it was like Gears for three sixty, but it wasn't on Xbox One for a little while. Now I'm talking about games that are free the day they launched, right like Vulgar came out on the Xbox end was immediately free for Gold, like they just just now got into that, which kind of feels like less of a sort of hand me down approach, you know of like here's all these old games and nobody's buying and you can have that, right. Oh, they'll still do that with like what last month was Crimson Dragon or whatever? You know, I guess it's still good those like PlayStations was actually I heard that. I think next month is that First Light infamous u DLC shit, yeah, which I've always been curious about. Yeah, but I checked that out and I really didn't like it. Yeah, that doesn't sound good, So that's why I didn't want to spend that didn't I didn't buy it because I didn't love uh second Son, but sa here like I would check that thing out and see if I had enjoyed it more than the Bass game. Yeah, but's free, I'll totally play. Yeah, yeah, that's cool. I thought a lot of the mission design was worse than the Bass game. So that's not that's mycouraging general feeling on you know what, Pepper, that think full of combat a combat that Oh that's right, I saw you play some in that. That's like a mad moxie add on, like this everymost. Yeah, I did really like the way the neon effects looked. Yeah. I would probably play some of it just to see more of that, even just like sucking the neon out of the signs instead all the particle effects and stuff on. That stuff looked amazing. And I liked that character. I thought she was good. And yeah, I thought she was just like the most interesting non player character in that whole game. I hate every character in that game. Every character sucks. I didn't mind the characters. You're no, you're not going to use your powers, don't use your powers? Stuff was all right, you're sick. Your brother that looks like Alberto do Rio, does he? Yeah, he totally does. Okay, I wish I had liked that game more. It's all right. Uh, speaking of console stuff, how's that first segue? Uh, there's more information coming out about the rise of the tomb Raider deal that Microsoft's got going with Square Enix. I don't know if this was in the light of the Street Fighter five newscause I think people dug back into it a little bit in the wake of the Street Fight or five stuff, because like people were just giving Phil Spencer shit on Twitter right when that street Fighter five stuff hit Yeah about like what what how'd you let this happen? What's going on? Right? I think it's a weird want to kill instinct? Yeah, that was like his response that what they said, well, you know the first party, Yeah, development, they have a competitive game and first party with kid and I think he also was just kind of like, hey, we can't get every deal out there, sure you know ye? So indeed, so they backed to toomb Raider. Yes, so the story I guess this came via Aaron Greenberg's Twitter, as all good news does directly off on Twitter, is where the information originated. Tweet of the week. They've backed it up. I mean the upshot is the Microsoft is publishing tomb Raider. Yeah, that's not just you know, we paid for some marketing and we're getting it for six months or whatever, like it is a Microsoft Studios project. Yeah, which is how Dead Rising three was. Yeah, and I want to say something else that might be wrong, trying to think back to the launch. Maybe maybe Dead Rising three was the was the one, but yeah, it's you know, what that means is kind of hard to determine because they don't go into specifics, right typically, you know, if if a company is publishing a game, it means they paid for it, paid for it to be made. But you don't see Dead Rising three coming to competing console. Yes, it did it come to PC? Yes, But like at what point in development Microsoft entered this this situations you know, we can't say, right and what was yeah, like was this something that was as a reaction to everyone's confusion about where that game was going to appear? Then just then like go back and double down and go like all right, let's let's sweep this up a little bit. Maybe, Yeah, what was that the plan all along? Because like I feel like that maybe wasn't the plan all along, because I want to say that like Spencer or someone was out there kind of saying like like they finally pinned him down. He was like it's a time to excluise. Fine, yeah, fine. There was that quote from him back when this was announced saying like, yeah, we didn't go out and buy the IP so of course it's not forever, right or whatever. But but you could take that, I mean a few different things, I guess, so yeah, it's sort of yeah, but if they're publishing in that game and you look at the trajectory of Dead Rising three. I think you could probably say that it could be similar. Yea was a similar situation because that was a launch game then eventually came out of that was published Microsoft. Yeah, like Crytech is an independent third party, like they said make this game for us, right, so that is a Microsoft thing. This is a you know, this is a much different situation where Square Nix owns the storied IP than is tumb Rator, and obviously Microsoft doesn't have full control over that stuff. But Sony and street Fighter right, sure, right, But the point I was trying to make about when they entered the development process was, you know, like because the line about this thing was like, oh Microsoft just came in at the end with a wad of cash and said don't put it out on TS four. I don't know which. Yeah, you know, like the kind of it seems like the perception of Street Fighter five is like Sony is making that game happen, right, yeah, yes, whereas the perception of tomb Rator was this game was going to happen on more platforms and till Microsoft paid to make it happen. Unless that that was the perception going in, Yes, so so right or wrong? Right? That's what I'm getting at. So if they're publishing the game, it was obviously they were more deeply intertwined with development process than that. Not necessarily, but but that's what I'm saying. To what extent, who knows, you know, Like, does that just mean they're handling QA at the end of the process or yeah, or just literally paying to get the discs made, right, because you know the way modern games are made, Like I assume they were like concepting the second game like as the first game was being finished, right, probably, So I'd imagine that Rise of the teamb Raider has been around in some form longer than Microsoft was publishing it. Yeah, probably you would assume. Yeah, the Street Fighter stuff is weird because you know, I feel like there's been some implication on their part that like Sony is involved in the development of that game in some way, you mean, like making decisions and to some extent I think pression I got. I don't know. I think they came with the wat of cash as well, like they wanted exclusivity as well. But we won't know for sure, of course, but I know CAPCOMs using some of that money attack they put back into like the Capcom Cup stuff like next year the prize pools like five hundred thousand dollars or something like that. Interesting, that is a lot of money, that isn't Yeah, that's like ten times what it was. Yep, yeah, more more than that. So yeah, exactly ten times? Is demps making five? Did they make four? Yes? Are they making five? Don't know? They made four? They made four? It's pretty good. Yeah, maybe they should make five. I'm cool with that. Or maybe they're out of ideas and someone else five knows, who knows? Yeah, I would love to know what's going on with all that. Let's bring Erica back on board. Yes, okay, it's a cracker jack. Yep. Huh d. Dark video games got weird, guys win exactly. Well, we'll say they were always weird. Was it when the game with the naked statue came out of the Genesis? Lord? Before that? But I mean he run for the Genesis? Is that when they got weird? Was it when they came out with cartridges that you could flip them the other way and put them in It was a different game, and you play Chuck Norris on one end and fucking piece of shit on the other end. It was pretty weird. I've never recovered that was pretty weird? Was it the StarPath Supercharger when they said, fuck it, we made a tape deck for the Atari, that was pretty weird. I'd say, let's see, Stroker is pretty weird Strokers after that. But yes, I'm just saying, I'm just you know, it's nothing weird about Stroker. It's perfectly natural. Everyone does it, just covering the everyone has ever has a COMPETI sixty four anyway, running down the pantheon of weird video game moments. When the Master system had a game in it, when it didn't have a game in it. Yeah, uh Snail, Yeah, that's Snail Games, one of the best things to come out on the Masters. Yeah, I won't deny that two player double Dragon. The business of video games got weird in the last year. I think it's always been weird. Well, it's like it's like we're returning to this model from like ten and fifteen years ago, right, it's something we ignited. Yeah, like you're gonna see like, oh, Microsoft executives flew a plane over Sony executives playing golf that said eat it. Like getting back to that at some point, I wasn't really thinking about the adversarial stuff so much. But the you know, like publishers aligning themselves with specific consoles, like major third party franchises only coming to one machine or the other. Yeah, all kinds of crazy shit stuff you thought was gone. Yeah that's what I'm getting, Like the business didn't make sense anymore. You're like, well, to make the amount of money they need to make on these games, they obviously need to be everywhere. But then a lot of those games stopped selling, and the option became like either these B tier games go away completely or they find a way to subsidize them. Yep, that's crazy. Who would have thought. I don't know, is it is it? Is it games getting more expensive? Is the Is this the trickle down effect from that? Yeah? Expensive to make. You know, Microsoft and Sony invested a lot of money in making those platforms, and now you have developers that are like struggling to fucking make products. You know, at some point they have to act in their own interests. At some point they have to create like a third party production team like Sony has. You know, at some point Microsoft has to go out there and secure those games because in some cases they wouldn't get made an intend to the same way. Yeah, they had to go out and find they had to go out and pay whatever they had to pay for Bayonetta two, which probably wasn't that much. I wouldn't think. So it's a weird new paradigm, sure is. There's a lot like the old one white old as new again ish something like that. Yeah, Hey, could we hire Platinum to make a like a wind Jammers dam? Are they the right developer for that? I don't know. I mean, they're obviously cheap enough if I don't want an elaborate combo system. Yeah, win Jammers awesome, you made wind Jammers. Data is long gone right. Yeah, they're owned by all their IP is owned by a mobile company called g Mode. I've heard of them, So that's who owns win Jammers, Yes, or does that? Did and K owned win Jammers. SMK did not own wind Jammers. G Mode had it. Where it is today, where those rights are today, You'll never tell. I'll never tell. They bury in your backyard in the main aishar I picked him up for a song, holding out until Dave Lang or Platinum gives me the right amount of money for them. Yeah, and then it'll be one. Do you know what is no longer on Steam Greenlight? What's that? Brad? Would you imagine like that one? That's great? It's good stuff, right yeah? Hatred? Hatred? Oh isometric? Weird jet homicidal, maniac, fucking repugnant looking Yeah. Okay that went up on Steam green Light and a bunch of people uploaded it and then Valve took a look at it and it was like nah and pulled it off. Yeah. Discuss don't they have like like the Postals are available on Steam, right they are. You could argue that Postal has a more Yeah, I actually approach. I actually have not played the Postal games, like whether we're shitty, Yeah, whether or not, whether or not you actually think Postal is funny, like it's a trying it's going for a comedic tone. Yeah. I remember the ads and stuff where they would bring in like Gary Coleman and things like that. And even though the humans all Postal two, okay, Postal one was a little more grim, they didn't necessarily go like but in Postal one you had to make your own comedy by pushing the suicide button and he would say, only my weapons understand me, and then shoot his fucking head off, and you're like, well, that's dumb, but it was trying to be funny from the beginning with Postal. I don't know, because the thing is, I think the thing with Hatred is looking at these teasers and stuff, it certainly doesn't seem to be very tongue in cheek. I mean, it doesn't seem to have any humor slant whatsoever. It just seems to be, Yeah, it seems like they're just making like you know, they're making someone pointed out on Twitter, I was talking about some of the Hatred stuff earlier, and they kind of nailed it. They're they're doing the same thing that Jaffie is doing in his own weird way where it's like this just seems like some fucking junior high kid. Yeah, it's just like, yeah, fucking death man fucking rips the meeting. But once they find this exactly like you know, like it's it's like the human like that game. Those trailers seem edgy in the same way like a Maryland Manson album. At one point you're like like you're just going for it, but it's like the whole thing just comes across as kind of sad. Like it almost makes you feel like it's nineteen ninety nine again and you're like watching the media fallout of like Columbine and the Matrix again. You know. Yeah, it's just like our trench coats are evil and everybody's worshiping the devil. I feel like they would love to have that kind of reaction, like some like Tipper Goore and Mortal Kombat in the early nineties. Thing like they want the controversy and they're trying, They're they're actively courting it absolutely. Like everything they've released on this game has been very much like, oh man, look at us. It's so fucking crazy at Dark it is. Yeah, And I think that the thing where this shifts, the thing where this kind of becomes something else. Uh Like this debate is fine, and I think it's like, you know, it's appropriate in a sense, but it gets into the kind of larger thing. It's like there's been some question about the developers themselves. It's a Polish team, and I guess like there's been some claims that maybe they are literal white supremacists, Oh really yeah, and that they may be fascists. They may be So there's there's stuff. There's that aspect to this that I think, you know, maybe takes it in a significantly darker direction that kind of ups the antie on a lot of this debate in a way that you know, that changes it a lot. You know, if we're just debating like should this thing exist, like absolutely sure? Why not? Who cares? Like, stop talking about it, it'll go away, Like you know, they're court and controversy in the most desperate way imaginable. It's like it's like if Eminem we're to release an album now, which he did, and it was like some of some of it was kind of like, okay, Grandpa, No, that's the things that were edgy then are not necessarily edgy now. And that's how the game comes across when you take it to this different level. And you know, that's been the thing that like everyone it's it's I don't know, I've not done the research to say one way or the other. Yes, these people are this, Yes these people are not. There's a Polygon interview where I think they kind of came out and said no, of course not. But of course they would say that, yeah, I saw their whole angle is that just like everything's too politically correct now and like we really want to go to the other direction. I think that's a that's like a a tactic or or a feeling that you see a lot from people outside the US. Oh really that like that everyone kind of looks at America and the political correctness here and just goes like rolls their eyes at our society and culture goes, you guys are so fucking uptight. I think that there are a lot of things in American culture, in American history that make us that way, and the rest of the world kind of has to pay the price because their media has to sell here eventually. Not that that doesn't really have anything to do with hatred, but that that, to me is a is a big part of it. Yeah. I don't know. I don't know what to make of this. On one hand, like everyone has been so quick to condemn it, and it's one of those things where it's like it's just it's just violence, Like obviously it's extreme, empty fucking violence. I don't know, when you're celebrating the statistics slaughter of tons and tons of innocent people, it's kind of like an end charted Yeah, yeah, it's you know, it's a little different than when you're like dealing with people who are shooting back at you. You know, yeah, absolutely like it, you know, and been postal trafficking that as well. You know, they just tried to have a sense of humor about it. And it's like whatever, I'm not gonna sit here and say like, oh I really want to play that game, or all it looks awesome or or you know, you guys are being too hard, but like let them put out their dumb fucking things like yeah, lets and let it suck on its own merits. Obviously, you know, they have the right to make whatever they want. But then and Valves the right to not carry it. I think that's a totally appropriate move by Valve. You know, they can they can sell whatever they do or don't want to sell. I mean the developers are getting what they want out of all this, Yeah, because you're seeing headlines, You're seeing us talk about it, like they are getting pressed for this and it's like, yeah, it's like I'll play the game and banned from STEM exactly. It is literally they are literally like writing their own marketing campaign based around that sort of stuff. Is the too edgy for the game? Newel doesn't want you to see it? Was a parental advisory sticker on it. Yeah to me though, like you know, I haven't played the game, but from what I've seen of the footage and stuff, like, there's nothing edgy about it. There's nothing like smart about it. No, No, it's just it's like it's like the laziest pandering. You know. It's just like how how ultra can our violence get? You know, right here you go here, here, you're investibles. You know, it's a DiscT psychopath gunning down thousands of people go for it. Yeah, right, like there's there's there's nothing in that, you know, there's no there's no intelligent commentary, there's nothing of redeeming that what they've shown. I mean yeah again like you know, not having not played the game, if that's what they're pitching, yeah, yeah, what they're pitching, just what they're pitching just looks to me like lame, yes, right, yes, like it's it's yeah, sure, you know, it's it's you know, whether you take offense to that or not, I think is up to for personal debate. Like for me, it's like whatever was there's so much murder and video games? Why why I start drawing lines now? That for me it just you just look at it and go like, this looks like something that like some kid in junior high would have thought was fucking rad in nineteen ninety two. Yeah, and you know, like it's like that kind of thing brought to life and it just it just looks fucking lame like it to me, it's it's it fits right in with like fucking death metal or something where it's just like corpse or shit is so fucking dark man. Yeah, look at how fucking edgy this shit is. Like yeah, you know, yeah, I guess it's like those remember those old cable commercials for like the Underground Comedy movie where it's just like, oh, this is just way too hot for TV. It won't be released in theaters, and it's just let's just take every hot button issue that we know is going to get a rise out of people and make a lazy joke and get fucking poly Shore or someone to be in it. Right. Yeah, it's like you have a bold traffic and that's sort of yah, it's just shooting fishing hero. I mean it's but you know, I think but obviously like where the situation changes is like, you know, are the people who are making this who are making this white suprepsis. I'd be curious to read about that, because, yeah, that's what things do. Take a turn. Yeah, that's that's a Then it gets into like, you know, it's not exactly the same, but you know, that's I feel like games have had to deal with the idea of the people creating them having uh, you know, political beliefs that do not mesh right with the people that are out there buying that media. You know, it's not the first time that stuff's come up. It is quite possibly the most extreme. Yeah, it's a question of degrees, right, Yeah, I mean this is like all the way in the red yeah, right. When when it comes to that sort of thing like oh that developer is sort of center, right, like okay, fine, I don't just I don't agree with them or whatever. As an example, like when the Shadow Complex, you know, the or Right stuff, Well that was that was kind of the you know, yeah, it flared up a little bit around that. This is obviously a few steps beyond. Well, Shadow Complex of the game itself did not have anything particularly edgy or controversial, whereas this it sounds like it's this double headed thing of like, oh, the developers might be terrible, and also the game's content seems pretty rep to stomach. Yeah, yeah, I feel like there are too many questions on that end of it to really say for sure, but it seems that stuff seems there's a lot of smoke around that ship right now out and that seems potentially super fucked based on what we've seen on green Light. We would not publish Hatred on Steam as such, We'll be taking it down, said Valve Duck Lombardy. Yeah, all right, think it's smart. Yeah, I don't Steam. Yeah, I guess like that's yeah, they're creating, like we everyone out there reacting to this game is literally creating a monster. Like this thing would have, you know, kind of come and went and it'd been like, all right, wow, you made your dumb, ultra violent, fucking stupid thing, Like is it a shit game? Is it great? Like you know, I don't know whatever. I had forgotten all about it until ye and then like the Steam flare up and and now kind of, you know, the new round of conversation that people are having about it, you know, is ensuring that this game will eventually find an audience. Can't wait, yay games that you think that they don't have to be serious, but boom, guess what. Seriously, a lot of serious issues around the making and release of video games, whether you like it or not. That's true. That is definitely true. I bet the same as true video game movies. There's nothing serious right video game movies, except there are serious shit about The Doom movie was all right, come on, wait, don't be crazy. You want to tell me that the first Mortal Kombat movie was Okay, I'll back you up. Okay, yeah, that movies. Okay. Even as a kid, I kind of liked Annihilation. That one's hard, d that is one of the worst. I was a little ass kid, and I really liked Mortal Kombat, I'll say, going back and watching it and all Luke Kang finding his animalty and all that. It's terrible. But I left Mortal Kombat Annihilation, and I got a spiral notebook and I started plotting out, like how I was going to like schedule all my fights in Mortal Kombat two and three to kind of follow with where the movie left off. It rekindled a Mortal Kombat love. Wow. I saw it with a friend of mine and he walked out said, he said, I will meet you in the lobby. He didn't. He didn't leave, he said because like, well he was my ride, right was his ride? I forget what it was. And he was just like, fuck this, I'm gonna go stand around out here. That's standing around is better? Yeah? Yeah, no, da love. I rented it, and yeah, I never saw the end of it. I turned off the VHS alive now yeah, the d A game, Ken, Yeah, Kevin Ashon that the movie like it just the right amount of yeah, Jamie, Okay, just the right amount of like self awareness, it seems. Anyway, There's a movie has a first person section and then a boss fight against the rock. That's that's right. He becomes Romero's head or something. Yeah, yeah, right, right. He literally turned into a pixelated Romero head of that movie. I would have very different thoughts about Doom than the film. Man. Have you guys been following Romero on Twitter the last week or two. It's great. I've been doing at all kinds of stuff Doom. Doom is now able to drink legally. He's been posting all kinds of old production photos and like in used assets, and he showed some of the headsc ends of his head that became the icon of sin. That's kind of cool. Uh. There's a giant picture of Doom Guy's face up in his entryway, like in their sort of foyer today. Now, yeah, huh they posted a picture of it. It's just like, here's what you see when you walk in the house, and it's like it literally looks like it's probably six feet tall, just a giant picture of like pixel art straight out of the game Doom Guy face. It's still got the clay models that they used to make the enemies. Yeah, it's crazy. Some of them are like they're missing a hand here and there or whatever. But uh, it showed how like a pinky came out of like a dinosaur toy stand. They rotoscope like some drast Park action figure of like some kind of dinosaur and like drew the pinky demon over it. Yea, that is your John Robro series of tweets of the week. Okay, thank you, Brad should go look at his feed. It's rotten with that stuff anyway, Video game movies. I bring it up because I'm sure you've heard about the mass pile of information that continues to flow out of Sony Pictures. Yeah, in the wake of that leak. Yeah, some emails were uncovered indicating that Sony was in the process of working with Nintendo Drive. Alright, you heard you heard about that one. Okay, I don't know if we were. I don't know, Sony hacks stuff. Seems fucking weird. I guess this one is like, at least not related to a person. Yeah, this is this one. This one is not. This one is not getting into the personal details of people, which is why I pulled it. Yeah. No Paul Riser emails here. No, okay, poor Paul Riser. Yeah, Paul Riser is probably doing fine. Uh. Sony Pictures may have been working with Nintendo on a new Super Mario Brothers movie. That's a dumb idea, is the gist of this. It's pretty dumb. Uh. There's no indication whatsoever that it will actually never make it fruition, let's hope. I mean, uh, like a live action one for reels, no animated, Okay, a new animated movie CG animated. Doesn't say, I would that would be the way to do it. I don't think they really make non CG animated movie or do they not? An animated movie? Not really know? Even South Park is made in Maya. Yeah, every everything is true very earliest stages of production. This says no personnel currently attached. Uh so yeah, like, not a whole lot to go on there. I think that there are plenty of rich characters in the Mario universe, and I think that they don't need to be in a movie ever. Again, I can think of one that should be in the sound movie. Who's that Dam's WALLOWI? Oh, you want to see a Wallouigi movie? I would That would be the first animated movie I've seen in fifteen years. I would be there opening night Wallduigi movie. Do you have some weird aversion to the animated movies? I just became an adult. I have Simpsons. I grew up on Simpsons, and I love South Park. But like, I don't know, it's just a a certain point. You don't need to see a bunch of cartoons singing. At some point they stopped making those movies are for parents as well as Yeah, like they are. They make all those movies to operate at multiple levels. I saw the Lego movie. They are not terrible. Over the weekend Lego movie as funny as shit. Oh yeah, that movie is great. That movie is fantastic, like genuinely funny. Or if I had a kid, this would be nice for my kid too. It was really funny. Don't put yourself in a box man, Okay, I'll take your word for it. That movie's good. I don't want to see the Lego movie. I don't. I enjoyed myself. It's quite instating. Yeah, isn't Will Arnette batman? Yes, and he's hilarious. He's a shitty batman yep, like in a good way. Okay. I never thought I would say this. Will Farrell really good in that movie A talented guy. I thought I was completely done with Will Ferrell in all capacities? Who does he play the bad guy? Oh? Okay, I wasn't. I didn't. I wasn't even sure it was him for like half the movie. Watch watch it. I saw Anchorman too, Didn't I heard that I heard was not great. It's pretty disappointing, isn't it just came out of Netflix? I think, oh did it? Yeah? It's It's got some nice bits in it, but overall it's you know, yeah, I didn't see the first one. You never saw it. It was it was very good, and then it got over quoted the hell I bet it would be difficult to watch now. I bet you would watch it down and go fuck this, Yes, yes, it'd be like if you watched Austin Powers now and like its not gonna happen. I remember, right after Anchorman came out talking to a friend of mine in San Diego and saying like, oh, you know, it's like, hey, he's like stay class in San Diego, and he was just like what it was like it was before that happened, And I wonder if people in San Diego had to endure that. Oh that sounds horrible. It sounds like a waking nightmare. It's alright, like every time I go to an airport with my Kansas ID and they say you're not in Kansas anymore? Like, ah, all right, yeah, I'm sure San Diego gets that now forever. That's fucking hilarious. It is. It's great. How many how many times I have been asked if I know how to make shoes? Make sure? Oh is your last name? Holy shit? What do you say? Yes? Of course where the name came from? Yeah, Like they wouldn't give me this name if I didn't know that, Like, what do you mean? Of course? What do you need? I can, I can hook you, set you up right now. You know, I got a bunch of partner Steve Cobbler, Yeah, I got I got a sheet of ross wade in my in my bag. You know. Let's just get go and I'll start taking measurements right here in the airport's security line. Let's do this, all right, we have to take a break. One more story. Jeff did Dynamic Weather fixed Drive Club. No, it looks great that the rain looks really nice. Yeah, it's some of the best wet road you'll see in a console video. Okay, I like, I like wet pavement. Yeah, so if you if you're a fan of wet pavement, like seek out some footage of that and take a look at it. All right. It's it was a nice looking game going in the dynamic weather that they finally added, which they two months hence was the thing that they were showing at the get go that yeah, didn't make it in. Uh looks nice. Yeah, does not make Drive Club a better playing game. It sounds like the most of the online stuff is pretty much working on. I fired it up to look at the rain. The challenge system worked, okay, so I suspect. I think Drive Club works now, Okay, I can't say with certainty, but you know, everything lit up like it was online and going. I wonder if we will see the PlayStation Plus edition of that game before the end of the year. Who knows. If they just got the retail game stable though, dumping millions of more players on it, who knows. It may not be the best idea of the On a quick note about things working, I did get into two Halo Master Chief Collection matches this weekend. There's another another update, Yeah, so day or do they just put the notes for it? Yeah? And then yeah, there's more stuff on these has screed Unity fronts. Yeah they So the fourth patch for that was supposed to be out today, I believe, and they just pushed it back, did not. They didn't. I couldn't like some quote from them that was us. Yeah, you know, quality assurance in our games is a paramount importance to us, and from the feedback we've received, you guys care about it too. Yeah. They maybe they found something late in the process. I don't know, but the the kind of they didn't publish a change log for this one, but the gist of it seemed to be performance improvements. So if they're continuing to try it, oh you know what it is. They're doing a bunch of stuff in the map, like they talked about basically kind of rejiggering large parts of like the Paris map. What that means, Like, Okay, if it turns out they like removed or turned off like graphical features to get the frame rate up, I wonder how that will be received. Yeah, I wonder, huh, because there was a there was a big flap when that last patch came out. There was a there was a bug that caused like torches and light sources to turn off in this one kind of one interior like a church or something. Yeah, and all these spring shots were going around and just people just going to like, like this is how they got the frame rate up? Fuck them? Oh, Like they're reducing it from what it was the day it shipped to make it work, and like you can kind of see the issue there, you know. Yeah, yeah, sure, it's like if you're making the game look worse to run better than all of a sudden, like you kind of crossed the rubecon the day you shipped it the way it was, right, Yeah, I think so, Like if they had made that change prior to release and no one wouldn't know it, Yeah, it wouldn't be as big a deal, but I mean that most it would have been like a dark soul situation. You know, games get optimized e laid all the time, and that's what happened. But but it's a different situation than somebody playing it on day one and having it look a certain way. Yeah, that's having it look different a month later, but that turned out to be a bug. And who knows what they're doing with this one. Maybe it will be imperceptible. I hope they cleaned it up, though I would still like to at least try that game at some point. I'm curious to see what the state of like it when eventually when they patch Dragon Age on the Xbox One, because that's the only one I have saves on, kind of see what how that ends up being after It's yeah, curious why they'd played that patch games getting patched, games getting fixed blatedly, but better late than never. Let's just never do this again. Hey, street Fighter four is too, that's right. A mega moode, A mega moode, tell thirty seconds to tell me what a mega moode is and we have does fireballs kick? He kicks out fireballs. You can kicks fireballs. It's crazier than Street Fighter four, but not quite as crazy as Rainbow addition to some new moves understood like half of what you just said. It shakes shit up a little bit. Yeah, they kind of. They added some stuff to it, but it's not like you can't hit the start button to change characters. Made a fight? Yeah, suck it? You can? You cannot? What let you do that? Rainbow addition? What for Street Fighter two? In arcades? Okay, gotcha? There were lots of iterations. I never saw that. I lived on the boring coast for arcade games. We were lucky to even get shit at all. I got some game Genie codes for you. All right, we'll talk later. Let's wrap up with a few emails. What do you say? Certainly? What do you say? Yeah, wants to take something? Emails? Hey, I say, I do BombCast at GiantBomb dot com. Where BombCast at giant bomb dot com. It's an email address, okay, where you would send an email? Okay, I can send an email if you would like to be heard, if you'd like your email to be read. I want to be heard on the show. Okay, send you an email. You want to make your voice heard textually? Brad at giant put your actual voice, but your your inner voice b dot shoemaker as expressed through an email. You'd send it to BombCast at giant Bomb dotmail dot net, giant bomb dot com podcast. Okay, Brad at parties dot bams, yep, parties, go check on that. Lets go see if parties not business available. I bet it's not. It's you know, the business of parties is like a lucrative ones. Probably don't even need a check. I'm sure that it's already in someone else's possession. Immerin from Atlanta, Yeah sends an email entitled Walluigi backstory, go on on up. If Dan seemed to be under the assumption that Warrio and wall Luigi are brothers, I refer to them as the law brother. This is in fact not true. Okay, and Mario Tennis. Warrio is upset that he was not invited to play double since he doesn't have a partner, and Wai Luigi just sort of shows up. I can confirm the parties dot biz is not available. Parties dot CEO is Okay, parties dot Soy if you're having a Soy party. Oh, the best guide parties dot zone is available. What about party does zone. There's no way that's a party zone. No way, let's go to the party zone. Ruining this podcast. Whatever, Let's just start an offshoot podcast where we just look up domain names for an hour. Party dot zone is not available. Party dot CEO is available. That's pretty good. That's pretty good. Buba dot zone isn't available. Party dot Guitars. I think we checked on Buba dot zone. Okay, yeah, sorry, Dan record dot eu is still the Buba zone though, because they took down the original. Is there a dot Party No? I don't think so, not yet. I mean, if there's a Dot Vegas and a dot Christmas, it does make sense that there would be a dot party. There could be dot anything, Democrats dot party. Yep, that sounds like a real rip roaring good time. I'm gonna hang out and argue with the people over it. It is never said or implied. It has never said or implied that they being Warrio and Walluigi knew each other before, that, says Zimmeron. Is there a cut scene that explains this, like just shows up. You're the expert. You tell me, go do the research. I don't need the lower to like the guy. Go find a copy of Mario Tennis. Yes, but if you're going to make audacious claims such as they are related by blood, I in my brain they were always the lab brothers there, Warrio and it's brother Walligi. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, Dan Ryker, you know what if Miamoto comes out and says they're not brothers, I'll be like, Okay, I was wrong. I thought that they I thought that it wasn't kind of known that they were not brothers. Mhm. Surprisingly, I have not thought about this specific point that much. I would assume that what Luigi was like grown in a vat or something. I can see Warrio doing that. I wouldn't even assume, or somebody from the warrior Ware University. Let's make him, let's make him a mate. Yeah, what next? Email? Chase from Saint Louis was a Saint Louis, Sat Louis. If you've been playing in the Crew the final version of the Cruise, that's st period Lewis. Yeah, well, Chase in Saint Louis writes in about the best of the thirty two X. He says, my friends in middle school coursed me into getting a Saga thirty two X on the basis that the best sonic game ever was available for it. That game turned out to be Knuckles Chaotics, a game that doesn't even feature sonic. It is also not the best sonic game ever. These are all, this is all true. Thirty two X is still the only system I've ever played Doom on. I also had Virtual Fighter in Star Wars Arcade, both actually kind of good. Does anyone in the Bomb crew have any experience or fondness for the thirty two X or it's forty game total library? Very very little. Yeah, I worked at a retailer. I think I gave yeah a few games demos. That's it. I really don't remember much. I remember Star Wars Arcade was okay, i'member getting one right at launch. Yeah, closest, closest I was getting a Sega CD for w af Rage in the Cage, but never never went for thirty two X. That's the game to get a Sega CD for sure. Yeah. And sewer Shark, I mean, yeah, I'm sewer Shark. Sure. Yeah. Sherlock Holmes consulting detective. Maybe the thirty two X was not bad, it was just not necessary. Yeah, Like at that point, your like, that was actually an okay version of Doom if you had a six button control. VF wasn't VF decent? Yeah? Yeah, so you used the standard six button controller. Yeah. Yeah, it's list into the top of a genesis. It was still using all your genesis were there were there any games that required both Sega CE and thirty six They made Sega CD. They made thirty two X versions of some Sega CD games, including Night Trap. So you got a slightly quality video and that's it. That's all it offered. But there's like, was it there's that met game for the thirty two X that was kind of bad. Star Wars Arcade was cool. What was Star Wars Arcade? Was it literally the old vector game? Like there was a new Star Wars arcade game in arcades called Star Wars that Sega made and it came out. It coincided with three releases of Special and like ninety seven, I want to say that's someone would have the lightsaber fight with Vader where just had the joystick. I was like first person lights right, it was just like a bunch of random action scenes from Star Wars movies. Right, yeah, I mean there's one that gay thing, there's one first person thing with Vader. I want to say, there's a speeder bike chase first person. It was just like a grab bag of like, here's a level from there, and here's else. It was a good game. It couldn't have been ninety seven. That way too late. Oh yeah, totally. I feel like ninety seven was when the rereleases came out. Maybe I just don't see the rerelease. Saturn was two years old and ninety seven. Yeah, that's true. Maybe I just saw the Arcade game in the theater when I saw the rereleases. They might it might have been timed to the now. I guess that wouldn't have been. No, I was gonna say time to the episode one, but that's yeah. I've never even seen a thirty two X in person. They're funding a little mushroomy thing the plugs into the top of your genesis. I was. I was laser focused on, well when did that come out? Nineteen four? That's right? Was that one? I think I was. I think I was really close to the Saturn release, right, I was like Laser focused on saving money for a PlayStation at that point, if I if I remember, was it that or Jaguar that had the Alien Verse part there that people seem to really like. Okay, old video games. Jeff, do you have a Sega cd X for sale? No? Hi, so Sega. When we were in the same building, as said, God damn it, don't tell the story again. I get so angry every time I hear it on Towns Street where Zingca is now, which is fitting in a lot of ways. Sega had a warehouse blowout sale where they sold a bunch of shit for next to nothing, and it was like copies of like I bought like multiple sealed copies of Shenmu for like three dollars a piece because I thought that was hilarious. Some Dreamcast controllers, like a bunch of like it was like sealed Saturn games, like a few things like a Genesis game. And then there was like a stack of fucking like refurb CDX. No, they were not new in box. It was just loose units. Still though, weren't they like ten bucks? Yeah? I bought three of them. Oh god, I know, I know, I bought Okay, So here's the fucked up thing. I bought three of them, gave one to a friend. I had two no idea where they went. Gone, I'm so I'm so pissed. I'm so pissed. I love that little system. It's really cool. Yeah, it could to put a thirty two excident. They told you it, you couldn't. It would just flop backwards. Yeah sure, yeah, they said it's not compatible, but it was. That's just what they had to say that. They had to say that for like FCC regular Aian reasons, because the shielding was not adequate. Yeah, what did that? What did that? Fire sale happened like a month or two months after my internship was over. Yeah, something like Ryan was ironing me that day saying like, check out what I just bought, and I was just like, yeah, I bought like a Dreamcast about like three of those colored Dreamcast controllers, like the Millennium two thousand ones that were out near the end. I bought like the big memory card, the Rumble pack, a bunch of random Dreamcast games, a handful of Saturn games, a couple of second CD games they've had, like Lucy's like Shining for It or whatever, one of them. It was a beautiful fucking day. But yeah, every time I think about it, I'm just pissed off because I have no idea what happened to my cdx's. That's ridiculous. Yeah CDX is a cool thing, Yeah for sure. How about another email from Collette Okay, who doesn't say where she lives, but I'm sorry Manchester. It's in the subject line oh weird, which I copied into this document. Hey, nice work, so she says. A listing on the Australian Classification Board seems to have revealed a game called Borderlands Remastered Edition for PCPs four at Xbox one. The title would imply that it is simply a remaster of the original, but the listing credits to K Australia as the developer, alongside Gearbox. This also implies that it could be a part of the three games released for PC three sixty and P S three, including the recently released Borderlands the Presequel. If the latter is the case, do you think it's too soon for a next gen port to include a game that has only come out recently or do you think this will become the norm over the coming months? And if it's the former, will the original game on its own at full price be enough to justify the price tag. No, well, it has to be at least one and two, Like you can assume if this thing exists, and if it's been rated it probably it does age, but it's at least one in two and all the DLC for those. If they put that out for thirty bucks or something that's like hundreds of hours of game, I bet it will be sixty. I can't. I don't see it being worth sixty at this point when they've both been out for years. But maybe fifty. I don't know. At a certain point, you're cramming so much content and depends on what we're talking about. What we're talking about remastrative. It's just like if it it looks like the PC version, like that's not enough to go back to Borderland one. I think not for us. I'm stuff about that game. I'm speaking in the role of publisher who thinks they can charge. Like, you know, if they say we're putting two full games and all of the DLC stuff in there, they could they could easily treat it. And you think this is a great value for full price. Yeah, I could see them doing one and two for sixty bucks and then putting presequel out after the fact, also for sixty bucks. You don't think will be part of this, though it's possible. I don't know. I wonder how that thing did you know, if it didn't sell amazingly, well, yeah, it could be a way to recoup all the more on it. Did it make the top twenty, I don't know. I don't really hear. I don't hear anyone talking about it. Yeah, like it feels that first week, it really feels like it came and went. Yeah, like if people if if if people wanted a lout shooter at that time, they were probably still trying to come to terms with destiny. We've been burned by death. But there were also a bunch of other games of different types starting to come out. That was right around you know, that was right when October was starting the heat up. Yeah, there's other stuff to do than like they out an old console or whatever came out on PC. Well, yeah, which has always been kind of the way, well, it was the way to play Borderlines, two, Borderlines, one little j Yeah, they gotta go. But yeah, totally settled down. But I mean more generally, she's obviously, right. You know, I didn't put it in in the new section because I knew this email wasn't here. But they just announced the Devil May Cry, like the rebooted Devil May Cry is now getting a definitive edition on new consoles. Sure, that's like ten eight p sixty with a bunch of new modes put in and stuff like that. That's a great game. I guess. They also teased a special edition of Devil May Cry four at the end of that trailer, which is confusing. Which they gave that a date or they gave that a timeframe also, so that's a separate product. Those are not being included in the same package, right, different different time frame for DMC because that's like widely considered like the second worst behind two. I mean, if they really wanted to put another one out, like three, yeah, but how many? I mean they've three? I love Free. Three is the fan favorite. Two is the worst. Yeah, they're all bad games. One, three and the reboot are all great games. Reboots, reboots awesome. I like to reboot quite a bit of Reboot is a cool game. I would play through that again potentially, So it's in this version, So all the d'll see you know, Virgil stuff. But they've well it's got some new mode in which which which game the four they put in? What if the I mean we got a trailer on the side it says everything that's tenant, Okay, was it God's must eyes up? The name of the mode, something like that that everybody likes. That's in there. Some other stuff. It's like modes that have been in past games that we're not in this one were being put in. So there's one where it's like you can only be doing damage when you're s ranks for style. Okay, so you have to be stylish. That's interesting. Yeah, but yeah, like it's just there's like such an epidemic of last gen games getting poured it over much crazier than it was last time around. Ye yeah, you know, like Sony was doing some decent HD collections last gen with you know, like Jack and the Shadow Colossis, and it felt like that took some time to get going. Right now it's out of the gate. Everyone. Also, there was more of a demand for or not not demand necessarily, but more of a justification for it because all those games came out in the SUBHD era. You know, Oh, yeah, like Ratchett and Jack supporting. Yeah they look great, but also just porting them up to current hd that comes out of HDMI, you know, so you don't have to worry about running your old analog console into your new TV and stuff like that. Like that was almost like an archival thing, whereas this is just like games are harder to make. Now, let's put stuff out that we already made as fast as we can. Like it's kind of crazy. Yeah, but no, no, it's distressing a little bit. We will see how much more this trend continues. I mean I feel like it's you it's going to be well into next year because there's plenty that have been announced they're not out yet, you know, Sleeping Dogs or Saints Row, Thanks Ro it's coming out in January. Uh yeah, it's a lot. I mean those are they're all mostly all good games. But yeah, it's Saints RO coming out alongside Get Out of Hell. Gat Out of Hell is coming out as a doubt like an individual download, and then they're also putting it out what is it Saints for a four reelected edition? I think is so wait, so it does come with that PS four believe that PS four There the console version of four comes with get out of Hell. That makes sense, all right, and then you can also just like gett get out of Hell on PC or whatever platform you prefer. How about another email? How about it's another email from Jean Francois. Okay from Quebec. Pulled this email half so that I could say Jean Francois uh, and he asks a profound question, why do you guys use Twitter? I don't know anymore everybody else did. I guess it's the most antisocial social networking. That's probably that's probably true. I'll read his email, though, you guys seem to use it mostly to post insignificant stuff that is one step away from pictures of meals. On top of that, the service is constantly used by trolls and hateful people to harass those who would try to have serious discussions. Also true, honest question, what appeal do you guys see in Twitter? And why do you use it daily? It used to not be that bad. Yeah, it's gotten really bad in the last year two years. As anything gets bigger, eventually any kind of community feel is going to be lost. And that's kind of where Twitter got to. Yeah, you could like to Twitter for whatever reason, was very easy to like chart the progression of I feel like like I can think back to other eras you know, I've been on Twitter like five years, six years, uh, and like you could definitely see it. You could like see tears of popularity, right yeah, you know, like as hashtags started getting overrun with bots spamming the same lane kills, like oh okay, like spam has come to Twitter. Finally. This was like you know, four years or five years ago whatever. Uh, and like now yeah, like everybody's on there using it for their own nefarious ends. Yeah, and it's it's I don't know, like there's there's interesting. There are interesting interactions to be had on Twitter because of its kind of open nature, and you can you can get at people that you wouldn't normally be able to get at. But unfortunately that ends up being used for shitty reasons more often than not. And you have too many people that are trying to have like serious and nuanced discussions in a format that is not built for that. I find it maddening to try to follow like lengthy and complicated discussions where you know, try trying to click back for it's not for the fact the fact that their third party tools have been created to organize tweets into more readable formats kind of you know, I kind of kind of blies the like I started down that road by you know, like mistake today, like talking a little bit about some of that hatred stuff, right, and then it quickly realize like, oh god, what am I doing? Like, you know, yeah, there's no room for nuance here, and like people are just like dog piling with like whatever freshman philosophy fucking statements they have to say, well, just any side of anything. The inherent limitations of the format make it very difficult to discuss anything with any level of complexity whatsoever. It's kind of easy to avoid that stuff though. If you see Twitter as this kind of like you know, not a place to have serious conversations and instead just a place for stupid jokes or whatever, then you don't kind of invite those discussions that aren't made for that format, you know. And if you're selective with who you follow and everything, it's led to me like using Twitter way less. And yeah, like when I do use it, it's just like here's you know, like who cares. It's just like here's this one liner I thought of right now, or here's a dumb thing I saw on a supermarket, like it's it's you know, it's it's way more of that, like they're there. It's not the form forum for interesting actual discussion. But I'm not looking for like interesting actual discussion on Twitter. I just see it as kind of a feed, like like the way I used to use like an RSS reader or something to follow all these different sites. Sure, here it's I just kind of follow people toward they've shown that they, you know, will tweet interestingly or videos or things that I might like. And so it's kind of my one stop shop for like, oh, what's going on on the Internet. And it's definitely replaced our access for me too. Yeah, And so I use it as that, and like zero percent of the time use it to have like actual conversations because again, one hundred and forty characters, what the fuck are you going to say that means anything in that? Yeah, let's going to break it into like eight tweets and make it super unreadable. Like there are places to do that if you want to do that. But hello, for example, oh jesus, yeah, do we all have Ello accounts? Got me an invent and I got my name. I'm good. Never lugged back the same and I got on there and got my name. I don't even know what the follow you guys, sweet, Yeah, let's do it. I think Twitter is great. I think Twitter is is fantastic. It says you have to use it right and there are tools there for if people are being thickheads, then those tools are fucking garbage. Dude, I don't know how much you can look at that stuff. It is. It is a joke, like the moderation of social media in general. Joe Peter Moore just the other day was like saying that his family was getting threatened on Twitter. He was, he was, he was retweeting it was that was doing the threatening. Twitter came back and said, no, they're not in violation of the rules. Like Twitter on the rules side is fucked. It's terrible. The tools are not where they need to be, and they're out there. They've acknowledged that, like, hey, we've got a lot of work to do because they are this huge mainstream thing now ye where they they they have an obligation to shore up that end of things in a way that they have not. And but yeah, like you know, it's there are there are people out there getting targeted for fucking crazier shit than Hey check out what happen to Jose and Saco. Oh yeah yeah, like those those people would argue, it is very hard to avoid the bullshit on Twitter right right, And obviously things need to go in to make it so like law enforcement can can act based on that stuff. Like I don't know how, I don't know how that stuff works. I don't know if an IP trace tweets or anything like that. I mean, Twitter knows who you are, you know, or generally they can depending on how you created your account and all that other stuff. You want to proxy everything end to end and get inside the tour portal or whatever. Fuck. You know, there's all kinds of dumb shit you can do to obscure yourself. But I mean, you know, a lot of it has to start on the legislative end. I think that says it's a slippery st have to start taking online threats more seriously. Yeah, there's that side of it, but also, like you know, what you're asking at some point is like to rid the Internet of anonymity, which is a The other problem is that you've run into an issue of manpower, you know, and like at a certain point, federal agents can't be dispatched to investigate every single like off color comment that's made on the internet. You know, like at a certain point, just like the leg work of finding out who the real person is that made that comment is enormous and the volume is always going to overwhelm the resources. But they're still there's gotta be a a better way. Man. Supposedly Lizard Squad got taken down. I saw that stuff, Yes, speaking of some ship that was on Twitter. That stuff was kind of wild. Yeah, who knows what that is? Yeah, exactly if you take it all at face value and it's actually true, then that it is wild. It was like it was like a weird, heartwarming moment of like, here are some people with skills, such as those using them for good. But then you immediately start wondering, like what if it's just them, right, because it was literally nothing but on Twitter account and making these claims like oh, we've taken them down, they're under they're all going to jail. There was like zero there was zero way to verify any of the claims that were being mad him out to the Feds. Don't think stitches get stitches. I don't know. Come on, I say that today that was still it is important. Everyone needs to remember. It was still fascinating to watch this stuff over the weekend, though I don't know how how true it all may have been. Yeah, Twitter is a weird, wonderful thing that you know, exposes the true nature of humanity in a really sad way. Yep, a lot of the time. Yeah, that's kind of the bummer when you know, like a lot of people are just like the Internet is going to be the Internet. It's like, no, it's human beings just being human beings, right, It's not much about the Internet. It's more about the nature of people. Yeah. Uh, well, on the lighter matters, sure, I guess this email is from a couple of weeks ago. Didn't have time for it last week, and I now don't remember really the conversation that this person is referred to. Well, all right, it's a fill in the blanks. Also, I didn't even include their names, such was their desire to not be named. Oh okay, all right, it's like, well, I can't read their name if I don't put it in this document. This person says, just heard the question from last week's BombCast about console certification and what platform holders look for when certifying a game. A few years ago, I worked on a licensed video game based on a then upcoming movie that was shipping on seven Skews the day of the movie was based on was released. Usually, when going to console certification, platform owners are basically just making sure the player will be able to play the game to completion. Any bugs they encounter along the way, they will document and inform you of that's crashes, glitches, UI, etc. But usually only if they are able to reproduce the bugs one hundred percent of the time. When we submitted our game to Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft sent back a bug list of around sixty or so bugs. Some were suggested fixes characters not appearing during cut scenes, but not one hundred percent of the time. Some were man tory fixes that had to be fixed and submitted again for certification. One UI prompt on the p S three version displayed the Xbox A button instead of the PS three X button. Yeah, that's they should have fit. They should fix that. However, Nintendo's bug list for the Wei version certification was significantly smaller, zero to be specific. It was safe to assume that a majority of the bugs an Xbox and Sony starts found also existed on the Wei version, as well as possibly numerous others due to we specific controls, But Nintendo pushed it right along anyway. Weeks later, while doing last minute shopping at a game stop for Christmas, I encountered a child in line about to purchase the game for the Wii. I talked him into buying Zach and Wiki instead. That's a good fucking game, pretty good. Yeah, uh yeah. The Nintendo Seal of Quality doesn't quite mean what it used to. Well, they don't. They don't put it on games the same way they used to do. I thought it was still out there. I don't know. I think it was the double check. Yeah yeah, even even when it was still appearing on game boxes. I remember it kind of getting around in the press at some point within the last ten years or so. Like their qa's certain standards may not be especially rigorous anymore. Sure, Uh but then whatever, I mean, can you say Sony's and Microsoft's are after the games that have shipped? I mean, yeah, you look at the stuff that shows this year. You know, everybody's guilty yep. Or they have a seal of quality. We're gonna bring that. Yeah, I guess they ought to think about that. Start putting a wax seal on every game. Yep, the Royal insignia. Yeah, everybody's screwed up this year pretty much. I guess Nintendo least of all. Ironically. Yeah. Yeah, there's like some of that stuff around Smash Brothers, some memory issues. Sounds sound like it was larger than Smash Brothers, and it hasn't sounded especially widespread. Definitely, definitely not from what I've noticed. Another inside email, inside info from an insider of the week, anonymous tweet of the week. So this email says, please do not read verbatim. H. So let me see if I can summarize without a lot of dead air. H. This person says that they are a remote tester working for a company that does network testing sessions for Ubisoft, whatever that means. And they say they have recently tested the Division. Okay, I think I think we I think we had been This is also an older email. I think we had speculated what two three weeks back about what the division is, Yeah, and when it's coming out, et cetera. They said that the build was early. You know that you're kind of getting the typical bugs you would expect in terms of falling through the world and stuff like that. But they say the third person shooting is very solid. But the more interesting part is that the game is absolutely an open world with a strong lute slash RPG progression system. And they filled out a survey after playing the game that described the social slash hub area in the game as quote like the tower from Destiny all right, which I think is kind of amusing that they just use like shorthand from current shipping games when dealing with stuff like that. But if, if, if that stuffs true about what that game is. That is the first thing I've heard that makes me really want to play the division. Like if that they said, like Destiny, you went like, all right, I'm not not the light Destiny part, but the idea that there's you know, open world questing, Yeah, go around doing stuff and like you know, like loot in that context still seems somewhat novel to me. Yeah, you know, if you're getting like a getting a rare suppressor slap on your thing or something like that, it's one of the things, like it it's goofy and ridiculous. But the way the crew did it where it's like, this is a level four gold breaks right right, Like I like, I just got an epic crankshaft or something, right that sounds dumb and fun? Yeah yeah, I could see them. Yeah whatever, So you know, hopefully there's no towers to climb. But like, if that game is sort of a squad based, mission based structure with kind of you know, progression, that sounds that's got potential. It sounds like something I could get into. Sure, Uh, Rob from Virginia. Why all the middleware logos they want their money? Why are we the end users subjected to unskippable intro videos and licensing information for middleware in games speed Tree aside, It's not as if someone's starting a game and going, you know, I wasn't sure about this purchase, but now that I see it's using bink video, I'm sold. Couldn't this information be buried in the credits or something? For a recent example, Shadow of Mordor has almost a full minute of unskippable credits and logos before you get to im menu on every single launch. I don't have a great answer for that one. I don't really know what the gain by putting like production facing brand. Yeah like if if if you know people who work on games are playing those games, they go, man, we gotta get some scale for scale form is the one. I look at these many scale forms everywhere. Jeff, you'll probably know this. So the console versions of NBA JAM, Yeah, I remember took fucking forever cause he turned it on and it'd be like Acclaim and then Probe and then the Iguana spending the basketball and a singer. Uh, and then we're Probe and Iguana. They are separate studios. Yeah, they were like porthouses basically. Yeah. Then they work on some mortal combats stuff too, like they Acclaim like Probe, I want to say, was the genesis end of things, and Iguana typically did snssing sculpture was the one sculptured stuff. Yeah. Yeah, I mean that's a little different because those studios directly made those games. Yeah. But then also because it was NBA JAM, it had the forced NBA logo stuff and all the logos of the teams and stuff in there, which made all that stuff a little bit longer. I think you know what this guy is getting at is like these are third parties who literally just contributed software that helps make these games going, right, Like, at that point, it's it's a little much. I feel like, I don't know, but it's part of you know, because they have to make agreements to you know, pay the fees or whatever it is to use something like speaking different, the licenses are gonna be different. It might be a case where if you pay them more money, they let you white label it and take the logo off the front. But no one does that. It's like, oh whatever, No, this has not been identified as a pain point from consumers, So fuck it. We'll save some money and put the logo on the game. Who cares. Sure, it's one of those things that like it's it's just irks him enough when it happens, but by the time it's over, you've forgotten about it. Yeah, it's not like you're ever gonna go write an angry letter about it. Moud, you motherfucker's Oh, Moud, open source suck ass. Oh get Richard Stallman on the phone. Oh, I'll do that. He never stops talking. I kind of I always kind of like looking in the credits and seeing what weird open source stuff they used, though, Yeah, it's still it's still weird, like he would always have like stuff like you're you know, push this button to see our open source stuff. I think everybody does at this point. I think literally practically every shipping game has got some open source component. Senate, Now it's crazy stuff. Uh Ali got a great question, Hi everyone, what's the deal with all the beards? Warm regards Oliver? I got Drew's thoughts on this, since I knew he wouldn't be here warmed before the winter was his answer. So he's a traditionalist. Geez, okay, I can't grow a full beard. Yeah, like this is probably like two three weeks. This is just stubble. Yeah, you can barely see it. It's like three different colors. It's it's it's gnarly, it's nasty, and yeah, I cannot grow full one night. I'm very jealous. I want to just to say that I could. I think about three weeks is where I'm more or less at a beard. I think, yeah, no, I'm with you, Like about three weeks, it's barely visible. It's yeah, really you don't get the five o'clock shadow or anything. He gets there eventually, but it's not five o'clock if week five, Uh, yeah, I don't know. I got lazy recently and by the time I went to shave, I was just like, maybe I'll just let it go for a while. I think mine's because I was on tender and the girls said I'll probably swipe right if you had a beard, and I had a date with her, and I was like, well, I should probably still have a beard when I go on that date with her, and so I just kept growing a beard. You sometimes sell your beard as well. No, no, no, that's not through at all. What happened was we were doing a charity live stream game Informer and we're playing Resident Evil or something, and somebody in the chat said like, oh, you guys should, like the winner of this thing should get Dave's beard. This guy that was doing it, sure, and he's like, I'm not going to do that, and so I said, dab whatever. Sure, yeah, if we do whatever the fuck. I don't remember, were raising money or something like if we hit something there was money changed. Yeah, I didn't get see, I didn't get an a beard. I in return, did shave my beard into a ziploc bag and I sent my beard to something. So you didn't take care to preserve its natural shape or anything like that. It was just a bag of hair that is disgusting, and I was I had a sternly word of meeting it work in which I was told, don't send your beard to people. That's what serial killers do. No serial CUIs killers ask for the beard. So I'm not like you're on the clear end on the victim me. Look, I'm saying, if you want to send your beard to somebody, I'm not going to stop you. But don't get murdered. Okay. Cool. As your supervisor, my advice to you is don't get murdered. Okay, I'll take that to heart. Yeah, but no, I've never received money in exchange for my beard. There was an exchange of some sort. It didn't go to you. No, there there was a monetary exchange for your facial hair. That is just beyond the pail. I'm sorry, I don't see why that's so gross. It's just hair. But it's uhower every day. What are you gonna do with it? Like scrubs your beard though, What are you gonna do with it? That's a funny, jam. I don't want to touch it. Yeah, that's exactly how I saw it. Is like, this is a stupid thing, like, oh, look I had the random internet dude's hair. It's a dumb joke. Yeah. Like six months later you finally go, oh, I'm gonna throw this away, and you throw it away. Yeah. I guy like tweeted the picture of him holding the bag of hair, and that's the concluded to his face that weird, next level cool shit. That a tool ship. It would be like you know that guy taking the grossest to it, embracing it. No, fuck you, Yeah, I'll get grocery. Yeah, inherit the Dan record power its beard. If anybody wants to buy my beer, no, no, no, nope, it's gross shaved shave the beer'll see do it. I probably will at some point. Do it. Right now, I'll give you five dollars, five dollars. I'm gonna how gonna kick start this? How much would how much would you shave your beard for? My kickstarter goal will be ten thousand dollars. That's way higher than the amount of money you said that you would eat cow dung. Ye wait no, I said it was about ten thousand for uh you said to like two hundred and fifty bucks that was on the cross that was you said to like three feet of a snail like a bite of a cow pie or the whole thing. It'd be the whole thing. And and I said I wouldn't do it because you said he'd have to keep it down. I didn't think there was any way to do it. Poop is objectively the grossest thing. But he said he would look up three feet of like a snail trail, literal snail trail don't be gross. But I don't know what that is like again, I would have that's I would research that. I would need the money on the table, and I would need some us. Let's just say from a snails are fucking gross. But yeah, two hundred and fifty bucks for three feet I mean coffs syrup taste gross. But then he just drink something afterwards and don't think about it. You started at five hundred and then I think you went down to You're like, yea once once I've got the data and I know exactly what I'm gonna ingest, right, and a guy in a lab coat says that I won't die. I've ever heard of like s cargo? Yeah, people eat snails? Was that the I don't think they're caviar was the thing I was trying to They're both like fancy sure food. Yeah that's gross, right, Yeah, I don't. I don't think their trail is necessarily toxic. But okay, well I could use five hundred bucks. I don't think it's appealing. I'll try it. Yeah, saltad, some garlic and butter. I need a lot of things for five hundred bucks. I need it for free. I might pay money for it. Lucas from Poland. Final email. This is a fun twist on a style of email we have been getting recently. There were a lot of emails about you, guys, and more specifically, how you are perceived by the people who don't have a lot of contact with the website's content. My wife knows I'm a huge fan and knows how you look like, as she has seen a couple of your videos. She's watched the Moral Combat Struggle Scrub League and cheered for Alexis all the way to the finals because she hates Jeff. But we'll get back to that, God damn it. She also loves those idiotic Harry Potter quick looks. Nevertheless, she gets most of her stuff then, ye, Nevertheless, she gets most of her info about you from me and my recaps of your antics on the podcast and videos. Here are her opinions about you, which I gathered through the years. Jeff a fucking monster who doesn't like anything and wants all nice things destroyed just her. His blase attitude towards the world around him is strangely appealing sometimes, but it doesn't change the fact that he's a horrible, horrible person. Thank you, Brad. She understands your pain of playing while talking and inability to concentrate on both things at one time. So keep up the good work, but shave that beard you start to look like a bum. Drew probably the nicest person in the world. He also might be the only completely sane person in the crew. Yes, including all the times he played Halo for the kids with Alexis for an insane amount of hours and eight disgusting dried animal head in Iceland. Right kind of animal are we? Yeah? They're biting off a dried animal head? Right? Yes? I remember that, Dan. Yes, she doesn't want to hear about you from me anymore, because as you seem like a disgusting redneck who eats from a trash can, doesn't shower and listens to Southern Rock all the time. I'm pretty sure some of that's true. Basically, Georgia in bread resident in her eyes, No from a northern state. I shower every single day. The Kansas is considered northern. Okay again, I say this every time. They fought for the North, and the fucking Civil War might be geographically above the Mason Dixon. Okay, Well, I am not from the South. I'm from the Midwest. That's it's straight up. Geographically. I'm from the Midwest. But I shower every damn day, sometimes twice a day. I'm pretty militant about that stuff. Uh what else was there? I think you missed the part where she doesn't want to hear about you anymore. Oh, okay, that's just I don't think it's worth defending yourself. Okay, Oh, head west though not south? All right, that's fair, Patrick, that I didn't deny that, yes, or the Southern Rock part. Oh no, that's completely true. That's my thing, Patrick, You have the same name as one of her friends, Grandpas, so she suspects you might have some distant relatives in our area. It's not a common last aim, mind you. Furthermore, that Grandpa is a very nice guy, so obviously you must be too. Awesome hair. By the way, but that beard does not fit your look at a ten year old boy. Well, on and on, it's dark, Vinny, you should appear in every video to install some suspicious mods from shady German sits as a floating head on a green screen of course, Okay. Ryan strangely seemed like the biggest Harry Potter fan in the world, despite all his hate towards the franchise. A swell guy all the way, although his attitude could be rivaled only by Jeff's hostility to everything. Alex looks like a guy from an awful garage metal band and sounds like a goat all true. Oh that was funny, man. I like her her forthrightness. Yeah, she doesn't mence for her, she doesn't mess around. Andy sounds like a goat bomb cast a giant bomb dot com. That's where you should send all of your speculation. I was like the one that hates the world, all your speculation about what we look like, what our personal beliefs are, our dietary you look Lutheran restrictions, Uh, genealogy just you know, any old thing. Yeah, fortune telling just whatever you got, any old thing you want to you want to come up with, let us know, pombcasts, giant bomb dot Com. I guess that's it for the podcast. I don't know, is it is this thing over I think things over you? Anything else? What's happening this week? We are still pretty heavy on Game of the Year production heavy. That is going to be most of the week. We do have a couple Metal Years in the camp. Yeah, those are banked. There should be one up as you hear this, and then another one going up early Thursday morning. Correct. Yeah, you guys are close right. Yes, Drew as of the last recording is going down into Arsenal gear. So the thing where Rose is like, hey, you should probably save the game. So some ship's about to go for the part whereas he's talked about it isn't his extreme need of scissors. Yes, so that's about to happen. The next episode will start with the torture scene and him being naked and then Colonel freak out time so so so Drew has seen that he has not seen, he has not seen his mind or quit completely right. That will finish the game. That is the thing that makes me love. That is one of the things that makes me love him. Yes, so much. As ambivalent as I am toward that game, that is an incredible moment. It's that whole secret What is the number sixty one? Remember who sixty one or sixty two? When the Harry carry Worm does a flapjack on something rock, Yeah, that's great. That parts pretty good. Talks about getting inducted by aliens and his drive home from work, so I cannot wait to be present for that. Yeah, you just need to keep it together when that shit happens. Just keep it together. I do your job. When crazy shit's going on, I kind of like look out the side and see what his reaction is. But I shut up and just let the game do the talking. Good. What else is going on? The quick looks they're going to be kind of sparse. Yeah, we'll do what I can or what we what we can on on the content front, but there's guilty Gear, Guilty Gear mane. We'll do some of the Mega mode still. Yeah, yeah, definitely we should look a Mega Mode, a couple other things if we could sneak him in, but they're still working on the studio at East so but yeah, getting the game of the Year outdoor is the priority around here. So yes, sir, stay tuned. Yeah, I gotta get that sort done. Uh yeah, if not this week, then late next week there will be a profound amount of content on the website. Yeah while everybody's off in any position to look at it, hopefully. Yeah, that's the plan. So that'll do it for this week's They shouldn't have the giant bomb cast for Jeff Dan Jason Me I bid you farewell free three
