<v Speaker 3>they were bantering with each other. I was like, this
<v Speaker 3>is how people think people talk each other in the hospital.

<v Speaker 3>each other. I don't know, have you ever watched the
<v Speaker 3>I have yet to watch the Pit. It felt like
<v Speaker 3>a it felt the West Wing in the hospital. Ok Now,

<v Speaker 3>Like doctors that are there to get shipp done. They're
<v Speaker 3>not fucking having witty zingers back and each other.

<v Speaker 2>for goodness long, and I think it has a lot
<v Speaker 2>of that kind of thing going on, where it's like,

<v Speaker 2>in witty banter. It's like, yeah, but you're kind of

<v Speaker 3>That's always been perceived as a like a drama loves

<v Speaker 2>So yeah, Whereas the Pit I think was going for
<v Speaker 2>like this crowd is so I'm but everyone's talking like
<v Speaker 2>they're in an Aaron Sorkin show. It's like, quite by.
<v Speaker 3>That's just how it felt when I watched that first part,

<v Speaker 2>What I understand. Was there anyone else? Because it felt

<v Speaker 3>when I first watched this episode, I was a bit
<v Speaker 3>confused because I've never seen the National Treasure films, okay,
<v Speaker 3>and I didn't sort of put two and two together.
<v Speaker 3>Silly me. I was half asleep. I got halfway through,
<v Speaker 3>and I'm like, what on earth is this going on
<v Speaker 3>about Benjamin Franklin Treasure? This is this is some pretty
<v Speaker 3>far out there stuff for the Simpsons. And I was like, oh,
<v Speaker 3>that's right, it's National Treasure film. His name is Benjamin Franklin,
<v Speaker 3>isn't he in the films?
<v Speaker 2>His name is Benjamin Franklin Gates. Whether he's an actual
<v Speaker 2>descendant of Benjamin Franklin, I'm not sure. Played by Nicholas Cage.
<v Speaker 2>But the way, if you're wondering why the lead character
<v Speaker 2>of this group of nerds, as Homer puts them, is
<v Speaker 2>dogging like Nicholas Cage, I was like, who the fuck
<v Speaker 2>are these guys exactly. But it's weird because that one guy,
<v Speaker 2>you know, definitely taking off Nicholas ka taking off Nicholas
<v Speaker 2>Cage's character, but the other two are not in the
<v Speaker 2>National Treasure movies. They don't look like his sidekicks.
<v Speaker 3>It just didn't make sense to me. I was a
<v Speaker 3>bit confused a.
<v Speaker 2>Lot about this episode. I wouldn't say it didn't make sense,
<v Speaker 2>but didn't quite play. It didn't land for me. And
<v Speaker 2>I'll tell you why I feel.
<v Speaker 3>If you're interested, well they will tell me what you Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>tell me what you didn't like about it.
<v Speaker 2>I must admit when my first note is I feel
<v Speaker 2>like I came in halfway through because I've got all
<v Speaker 2>this stuff with the Simpsons family and Sama's little helper
<v Speaker 2>and he's getting fat and all this kind of stuff.
<v Speaker 2>I feel like, are these flashbacks? Is this stuff that I'm
<v Speaker 2>supposed to know? And of course they are throwing in
<v Speaker 2>bits where it's like, oh, he's wearing Stonecutter's garb, all
<v Speaker 2>this kind of stuff.
<v Speaker 3>It's literally scenes from the original show. So that very
<v Speaker 3>first shot is the end of the pilot.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, no, that I recognized, and it's like, okay, will
<v Speaker 2>you set the scene you've got the dog. Yeah, all
<v Speaker 2>this other stuff didn't Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>I mean, I think it's just establishing that when they
<v Speaker 3>got the dog, Marge was because the pilot actually ends
<v Speaker 3>with them just saying, Oh, it's so great to have
<v Speaker 3>a dog in a family. God bless him. He's home
<v Speaker 3>the best president of.
<v Speaker 2>All not.
<v Speaker 3>Toys. It's a dog that's part of the family. We
<v Speaker 3>never actually skeet to see Marge, sort of like, That's
<v Speaker 3>what I did like with the episode. We've never really
<v Speaker 3>seen Marge's relationship with his little help one, because it
<v Speaker 3>reminded me of my mum's relationship with our dogs over
<v Speaker 3>the years, where Mum's always like complaining about I'm the
<v Speaker 3>one has to pick up from him, the one has
<v Speaker 3>to feed them, and one has to do all this
<v Speaker 3>every night. You guys said you were going to, but
<v Speaker 3>the end of the day, you know that your mum
<v Speaker 3>loves them.
<v Speaker 2>This is what I liked and maybe didn't like about
<v Speaker 2>the episode. I've talked a lot in our recent episodes
<v Speaker 2>of Full Thing Discard about you know, the foundation of
<v Speaker 2>an episode, you know what's really holding it together, what's
<v Speaker 2>really holding it up, And I thought in this episode
<v Speaker 2>it would be that oh, we all love the dog.
<v Speaker 2>And if you think about episodes of The Simpsons, generally
<v Speaker 2>like but loves his dog, or you know, home is
<v Speaker 2>frustrated with the dog, but you know, really loves it. Underneath,
<v Speaker 2>underneath all that and going unspoken is the fact that
<v Speaker 2>Marge is the probably one who is looking after it,
<v Speaker 2>which's home all the time, yeah, who is probably taking
<v Speaker 2>it for a walk, who was probably having conversations with it. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>but it's feeding it, right, and all this kind of stuff,
<v Speaker 2>and everyone else is just reaping the ruds of like, oh,
<v Speaker 2>look at a eating the sausages. He think you know,
<v Speaker 2>he loves it. He loves it as the jug.
<v Speaker 3>Goes, and I'm the one that puts in all the
<v Speaker 3>hard work.
<v Speaker 2>It's representative of a term that has been going around
<v Speaker 2>a bit in the last few years. It's either the
<v Speaker 2>mental load or something like that, but generally that women
<v Speaker 2>have in the house. It's like, we're doing all the
<v Speaker 2>work here and it's not really being talked about.
<v Speaker 3>That's that's the Dando life. Now, well, of course I'm
<v Speaker 3>the woman in this relationship.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, but the fact that Marge is the one who's
<v Speaker 2>being responsible. Everyone's like, isn't it fun to feed the
<v Speaker 2>dog everything, and oh he's become an absolute chunkster as
<v Speaker 2>a result. Oh well, that's just the way it goes.
<v Speaker 2>We just love we're loving him to death essentially, and
<v Speaker 2>margin is the one who has to be like.
<v Speaker 3>Kill kill him with It's like kill him with love
<v Speaker 3>kind of thing. Film with kindness, kill them with kindness. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>I feed them treats all the time. He shouldn't feed
<v Speaker 3>them treats that kind of thing.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, look, and I mean I think any pet owner
<v Speaker 2>has sort of been guilty of this from time to time.
<v Speaker 2>It's like, I love you so much, I want you
<v Speaker 2>to have a little treat in like the next thing.
<v Speaker 2>You know, It's like basically the cat is like you're
<v Speaker 2>a bit big buddy.
<v Speaker 3>For my my dad's dog was like obese, and I
<v Speaker 3>was like he is too fat. And he's like, oh,
<v Speaker 3>he just likes treets. And I was like, yeah, but
<v Speaker 3>if I came by racked up and Alliott was more
<v Speaker 3>than the obeste, would you say keep feeding in KFC,
<v Speaker 3>I would say maybe go outside and exercise.
<v Speaker 2>Of course, he loves treats. Everybody loves treats. The feeling
<v Speaker 2>the dog is not sort of go easy on the
<v Speaker 2>Violet crumble about some kibble walk. So I get, but
<v Speaker 2>I get the feeling that would be the good sort
<v Speaker 2>of foundation there was, and it wants to some degree.
<v Speaker 2>It's like Marge is the one who marches, the the
<v Speaker 2>one steering the Simpson ship. She's the rudder. She's the
<v Speaker 2>one who's keeping it pointing in the right direction and
<v Speaker 2>doing all the work that needs that the family needs

<v Speaker 2>moving forward, and to keep it solid and sturdy and
<v Speaker 2>working properly. It felt like it's hinted at that to
<v Speaker 2>be hum with, and then it just sort of thrill
<v Speaker 2>it aside for this weird National Treasure homage rip off
<v Speaker 2>whatever it was.
<v Speaker 3>So is, do they go to Philadelphia in those movies?
<v Speaker 3>Is there any link to Philadelphia National Treasure? This is

<v Speaker 2>I have not rewatched the National Treasure movies, and some
<v Speaker 2>times I've never watched them because they seem like the
<v Speaker 2>kind of movies that I would enjoy. They're fun.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, the kids have only just discovered Jimunji, the first Jimaji,
<v Speaker 3>and I rewatched it with the kids and on the weekend,
<v Speaker 3>I was like I forgot just how fun this movie
<v Speaker 3>was and how good the special effects were because so
<v Speaker 3>much of it was legitimate. I was real, what's it
<v Speaker 3>called practical practical practical effects? I'm supposed to see the
<v Speaker 3>CGI looks very bad at the monkeys, but the practical effects,
<v Speaker 3>I was like, I love that they had the mentality
<v Speaker 3>back then if we can do it, Yeah, let's do it.

<v Speaker 2>but it's not fake, if you know what I mean. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>practical effects are like, Wow, they're actually in the room

<v Speaker 3>pivotal clue field, and action packed sequences for Benjamin Franklin
<v Speaker 3>Gates hunt for the Templar Treasure. So that makes sense

<v Speaker 2>based in the Philly area from what I understand.
<v Speaker 3>Well, least it points out that's where they signed a
<v Speaker 3>declaration of independence. Independance, Betsy the woman who sowed the

<v Speaker 2>talk about Boston in relation to Philadelhi, because Boston I

<v Speaker 2>an incredible job of just branding itself as a city
<v Speaker 2>with an identity, yeah, and sometimes just taking the piss

<v Speaker 2>was apparently like a big time city planner of Philadelphia,
<v Speaker 2>like a very esteemed citizen of that city. But I
<v Speaker 2>had no idea that Bacon was from there. But no,
<v Speaker 2>he did. He did a good job. But I mean, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I don't think that Philadelphia has quite the cultural footprint
<v Speaker 2>that's say a city like Boston or maybe even Chicago
<v Speaker 2>would have. Although despite all this stuff that the show

<v Speaker 2>reached out to Will Smith for this episode. Hmmm, because
