Speaker 1: Tuesday, No Wednesday, yesterday. I was saying, Krats, you missed it. Right before we started, I said, yesterday.

00:00:10
Speaker 2: Was, and then we went live. You missed it. That's what happens. Yeah, when we're not so.

00:00:16
Speaker 1: I know, crazy, Yesterday was Tuesday, today's Wednesday. On FT Hello everyone, Yesterday, though, was a very popular day for foul territory on social media. We're going to get into a few of the reasons why, but one of them right at the top. Mister Kratz had a lot of attention for his little Tatis comment, and all of Twitter said that oll all of Padre's Twitter that defends him was saying, how dumb Krats is because hard hit rate has to do with how strong you are, so he's still strong. So steroids had nothing to do with the power, because that's how things work. You don't look at exit velocity, Krats. That was the I'm an idiot message from the defenders.

00:01:05
Speaker 3: I'm an idiot. So it's one of those things I've been I've been told I'm wrong before. And you know what, maybe I don't know ball maybe all that stuff, maybe launch angle, all that, you know, Maybe I missed it. I should have studied more. I should have done more research into what goes into hitting a baseball. I really should. Maybe tatists just should start swinging up and stop hitting the ball on the ground. That is totally Itugh, what an idiot I am.

00:01:37
Speaker 1: I'm saying this like having fun with it, but in all seriousness a j There's a majority of people that take statistics I don't even say so seriously, like in such a way that they don't understand the complexion of the game. They're like, oh, well, this person hits the ball the hardest. That means they're the strongest, and even if it goes in the ground, that's okay. So like the name of the game I guess in the mind of some of these people is like, at the pitch and just hammer it into the ground. And whoever does that the best, has the best exit be low, and is the best player with or without enhancements.

00:02:09
Speaker 3: Well, isn't this the Yankees development process that we have talked about a couple of years ago. Just always promote the guys at the highest exit you low?

00:02:17
Speaker 2: Yeah, but in the air, it's funny.

00:02:23
Speaker 3: Is most of the ball the hardest hip balls? Not all of them, but a lot of the hardest hip balls are actually ground balls, right, Yes.

00:02:31
Speaker 2: This is the point.

00:02:32
Speaker 1: Don't you think that sometimes that actually messes up the whole exit velocity conversation.

00:02:38
Speaker 2: Isn't there a pretty big.

00:02:39
Speaker 3: Commenting on it because the analytics haters will come after me.

00:02:41
Speaker 1: Isn't there a pretty big difference between will hitting the ball hard in the air?

00:02:45
Speaker 3: I want a guy that hits the ball hard in the air, and I want a guy that can hit line drives because you can turn line drives into home runs. Ground balls are hard to get up into the air? Is the usually on the ground? That was one of the big arguments, right. I remember at the end of his career, Eric Cosmer, that was like that was like the big thing with him, right, that he hits the ball really hard, but he hits a lot of ground balls. How do we get the ball into the air? And you know, people went back and forth and back and forth about Eric Cosmer being I mean, Eric Cosm was a good player, so it wasn't like he was crappy player. But I don't know. I mean, I think the most hard hit balls, not most A lot A lot of hard hit balls are hitt into the ground because you just catch him. If you want to teach someone how to get launch angle with hitting it hard, then you got some special But that's the hardest thing because you have to be able to just constantly catch it out front to get both. And that's a hard thing to do because you swing and miss.

00:03:37
Speaker 1: Jordan Walker has figured that out, but most don't. And you're right with Hosmer. It was actually kind of mid career when he hit free agency. And then you have everybody who knows swings and stats better than a major league player saying, well, it's easy. He hits the ball hard on the ground and he's going to go somewhere else and he's going to hit it hard in the air, and he's going to be a superstar, the best player in the sport.

00:03:57
Speaker 2: And it didn't happen.

00:03:59
Speaker 3: That's what was totally missed yesterday. Everybody heard the part that they didn't want to hear and commented on it, and they missed everything that, Like aj just said that I had said yesterday, like, you catch the ball out front, that's how you start elevating the ball. You really the swing is a very flat swing. A good swing is a flat swing. It's just the contact point where that ball gets elevated. How you stay through it, how that ball gets elevated. And you know, for the people analytic haters, no like analytics and old school scouting love dudes that hit the ball hard like there's no minute. It's like that guy hits the ball too hard. Don't want them on my team.

00:04:39
Speaker 2: No.

00:04:40
Speaker 3: Like of course, Fernando Tatisa's hitting the ball hard. That is great, means he's making great barrel contact. Where is he making a barrel contact? I would say probably a tick too deep. One of the things that they talked to Yandi Diaz about when he came over from the Guardians, when I played it with him with the Indians when he came over to the Rays. Don't change a thing about your flat three degree launch angle swing. We want you to try to catch a few balls out front. We want you to stay hitting the ball of the opposite field. But here's this contact point that will change it. Like those are things like it's but I love it, padre fans. I love that you guys have all deleted foul territory and my backwards hat and my negative point one baseball reference war.

00:05:34
Speaker 1: Hey, let's talk Sekek for a few minutes while the TV crawts and break tickets, tickets, catch your tickets, you know the code.

00:05:41
Speaker 2: But where are we going.

00:05:44
Speaker 3: Tonight?

00:05:45
Speaker 2: Yeah?

00:05:45
Speaker 3: I want to watch the White Sox win again.

00:05:48
Speaker 2: That's fine. I like to usually look at the pitching.

00:05:52
Speaker 3: I mean, you want to watch your Tani obviously pitch. He's not gonna hit though, so that's kind Tony.

00:05:56
Speaker 1: Versus Ray to see Ray's potential audition for teams who starts y?

00:06:02
Speaker 2: Yeah to seven six r Rah.

00:06:04
Speaker 3: Dylan Cees is pitching tonight. That's always fun to watch him pitch against the Rays, who've been white hot.

00:06:09
Speaker 1: Yeah, and the Jays came back yesterday and then the race still topped him an extra so that they could use a Dylan c stock.

00:06:15
Speaker 3: They were down five nothing and they tied it and then they lost an extras, which is a kick in the nuts.

00:06:19
Speaker 2: You know their record, by the way against the Rays this year, the chase five five start, I think it's five. They lost three and then they've lost two in this one. I think it's five. No.

00:06:30
Speaker 1: Schultz, by the way, pitching for the White Sox. I know he's you know, getting himself together and he's six foot million.

00:06:36
Speaker 3: But Braves is always fun.

00:06:38
Speaker 1: Yes, Michael King against the Miz. Yeah, that's tonight too. I mean, there's that's the one. There's good tickets tonight, there is.

00:06:49
Speaker 3: I mean, but it's rivalry. It's supposed to be rivalries like kind of renewed this week weekend Rodgers and Giants. I don't care if it's the weekend. Yeah, I know the weekend is rival right, but right now they're doing like the Bobo rivalry. So the only good rivalry is Dodgers Dodgers Giants right now, like and the Giants, this is the best time to play the Dodgers for them. The Dodgers are as realing as much as the Dodgers can reel. But the other like rivalries the Phillies, the Phillies Red Sox rivalry. When I played for them, I'm like, how is this like this is just I don't I don't understand it.

00:07:30
Speaker 1: I just know there's a lot of great games to watch tonight, and I like to once a show just let everyone know what you got on the docket. So Sea Geek is MLB's official ticket marketplace. And in honor of those special fans, I'm going to ask this question to almost every guest this week and get their take on why they think Katiz hasn't hit any home runs this year. But here's somebody who is really freaking good at his job and has not slumped. Besides, I guess the first start, let's charge.

00:08:24
Speaker 2: Amount, let's charge out.

00:08:29
Speaker 1: Yeah, And even that first start for Paul Skeens had a little bit of an O'Neil Cruz problem. Cruise actually playing better at least in the last week or two in the outfield from what I've seen. But let's talk Skeens after his first start pitching Ninja Rob Friedman said sixty seven and a half thera now it's one nine to eight and word quorder into the season. His career era is one nine to seven. He hasn't walked about her in a month. He shoved against yes the Rockies. But he's doing skiings things again. And do you feel like when you're watching him now at these starts, he's getting more comfortable in his skin if showing personality and almost making it look easy. Like in the beginning, I felt like he was like man on a mission. And now when I'm watching him, I'm like, he's kind of having fun with this because he's just so much better than almost anyone else.

00:09:16
Speaker 3: I loved yesterday when someone butting on him, He's like nice Ethan Bunt.

00:09:22
Speaker 2: He was really cash like, he wasn't pissed. He smiled at him like well.

00:09:27
Speaker 3: He was just like are He's like, they can't hit me, so they got a butne listen he looks good. No walk The key is no walks. He doesn't walk. Anybody. If you don't walk, anybody have a hard time getting three hits in a row off Paul schemes. And that's the one thing he doesn't do. He doesn't walk. He doesn't give free bases. He feels his position, he holds runners, He basically does all the things that a really good picture should be able to do. And he also throws a hundred and he throws all his pictures for strikes, and he could throw multiple quadrants and he I mean, he looks like he's like the guy if you went to eleven said we're going to make a picture, and we want to make a really almost perfect picture, it would be Paul Schemes. I mean, there's this like when Castro bunned, he had eight punchouts at that time, Like it's a good idea. Somebody's dominating you, you should bunt. Like that's a good idea. Like if you have bunting in your game, that's it. And to me, where Paul skiings. I think he gets lost in this world of strikeouts because everyone goes for the strikeouts. The difference is he's doing it efficiently. He's doing it in the zone. And when you have guys that can get out in the zone, that's really good, probably an all star. When you have guys who can get strikeouts in the zone against big league hitters, and you don't just need to rely on Chase, you're talking elite level and that's why he's one of the top two pitchers in the game. And if you argue he's a top one, great. If you argue he's the second best pitcher in the game, great, you are not wrong.

00:11:03
Speaker 1: He's getting a little more run support, not a ton more, but a little more. And now I know he didn't need much, and they got some early action for him, like there was. I'll give you an example of a guy that I was watching and trying to just dive into a little bit more because he was a first round pick and hasn't gotten a lot of attention. Nickn Zalez batting average runners in scoring position with the Pirates this year is about four hundred. Like you just see him up and contributing at those moments. He did it again in the win here. He was the one who drove in the first run. He has no home runs on the year, but he's doing the little things in his at bats at the right times to give them support. And all of a sudden, when you look at Paul Skens, forget a run. We're going into starts now where he's not giving up a hit for most of his outings.

00:11:52
Speaker 2: Into the seventh tier.

00:11:52
Speaker 3: He's starting to figure it out. Yeah, strying to figure it out a little bit.

00:11:56
Speaker 2: He's gonna have a no hitter soon.

00:11:58
Speaker 3: Do you think I can't say that? Why you just can't say that? Well, there are certain guys that never have no hitters. You're like, oh, this guy definitely should throw a no hitter, and they never do.

00:12:07
Speaker 2: He's gonna get one, Okay. I just feel like I think he's gonna get one this year.

00:12:13
Speaker 3: Wow, Okay, Scott. Every day Paul Skins pitches, I'm throwing down on no hitter for Paul Skins. Okay, you should end of the year. Is that right, I'm doing that. I'm I'm looking, I'm looking. But to me last night, here's why a no hitter is so tough. That first hit should not have been a hit. Brian Reynolds or O'Neil Cruz should have caught that ball now. O'Neil Cruz ran the one down in the other gap when he was shaded the left center. But like, you need, you need more than just domination, and I don't think I think sometimes like you watch some of the better pitchers that didn't get no hitters or that like took forever to get a no hitter, in their Hall of Fame. Pitchers like they attack the zone. They're not afraid of winning two to nothing and just attacking the zone first pitch, and that's when you give up the hit. It's the guys that like sometimes can just get up to ninety pitches through seven innings because they're just trying to punch out the world. I just think it's it's hard. I agree with you, he's going to get a no hitter. So I'm still looking for your no hitter bid.

00:13:24
Speaker 1: Well, it's harder to do because they're gonna post it usually on the start day, So if you're looking.

00:13:30
Speaker 3: I'm just looking at general.

00:13:31
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:13:32
Speaker 3: I don't think they'll give him much more.

00:13:35
Speaker 1: Yeah, I can tell you, like in a prior market, what bet MGM did, it was plus twenty five thousand.

00:13:41
Speaker 3: Yeah, pretty much everybody that I'm seeing today is at plus twenty five thousand. So we're gonna hit. We're gonna hit on it at some point this year, and we're gonna get paid.

00:13:53
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:13:53
Speaker 1: I mean, when Eh shutout two hits ten strikeouts and Jack Jones is rehabbing nicely in the minor leagues for the Pirates, that's good.

00:14:05
Speaker 3: Yeah, that'll help he's back, he comes back.

00:14:07
Speaker 2: Yeah, we're starting to feel.

00:14:11
Speaker 3: Jones Keller schemes.

00:14:12
Speaker 2: Bubba Chandler is there is there enough here?

00:14:16
Speaker 3: Bubba Chandler's gotta throw more strikes if he's gonna if he's going to really compete in the postseason. We're talking about the postseason.

00:14:23
Speaker 1: No, forget the postseason, dude, No, no, no, no, whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa?

00:14:27
Speaker 3: Just make the playoffs.

00:14:29
Speaker 1: Yes, Pittsburgh just wants to see the playoffs first. Then we'll start to get greedy. Can this team make the playoffs? And the thing for me that I think stands out is yes, the National League has some strength, but some of the teams that have surprised might fall off, like Saint Louis. Right, Like Pittsburgh has better pitching than Saint Louis, or at least it should.

00:14:50
Speaker 2: So. Can the Pirates make a.

00:14:53
Speaker 3: Little Cubs, Brewers are going to get in? I agree, I mean, Braves, Dodgers. There's four Padres five okay, so you already have five so no, so the answers know them. One of the Phillies, Reds, Mets, no way, one of those teams, yeah, or Pirates.

00:15:18
Speaker 2: I think the Pirates have a better shot than the Mets.

00:15:20
Speaker 1: I don't think they have a better shot than the Phillies, and I think they're probably in the similar range.

00:15:24
Speaker 2: As the Reds. Okay, do you agree? Yeah, I don't know what.

00:15:29
Speaker 3: Phillies are starting to do it now?

00:15:31
Speaker 2: They are, They're good, They're good. Next.

00:15:34
Speaker 3: It's just that simple, just to change the manager.

00:15:37
Speaker 2: Yeah, because you got to shock the system and say players.

00:15:41
Speaker 3: Or play the Rockies, Red Sox and Giants, Marlins. Don't forget the Marlins, the Marlins. Here comes the Marlins fans after a j.

00:15:54
Speaker 1: Strength of schedule. Wait, can we show that one graphic on the way out here? Or didn't show it already? Every picture in Big League history to have a five start span with thirty eight strikeouts and no walks thirty eight plus strikeouts Pedro, Shilling, Klueberg, darbish Burns, Corman, Garrett Cole, Kevin Gosman, and Schemes this year.

00:16:16
Speaker 3: There's one guy on that list that really surprises me. You Darvish. Yep, because of the walk no walks for him in five starts. That's like because he could walk them with the best of them. He'd walk through and strike out three that's literally what AJ was trying to tell him all of twenty thirteen, twelve thirteen, just throw it in the zone. And he was a guy. He was a guy during that time. I remember facing in fourteen where I was like, oh lord, he's just going to keep throwing the ball right down the middle and I don't know if I have a chance to hit it. And I BoNT it off of him my third at bat. That's literally I was like, he had thrown me three pitches each first have bats, and all of them went different directions, and they were all at ninety two to ninety four miles an hour. One went straight down, one went to the other way, and one went the other way. And I was like, uh, this isn't good for me. Yes, he had the best stuff I've ever seen ever, like pure stuff wise, yes, yeah, but knowing how to pitch wise, no knowing how to pitch or scared the pitch. I'm not gonna calm scared. I've okay scared. I've had that fight before, so I'm not going to have that fight again. He was He just wanted to strike everybody out, so he was never a I'm just gonna throw a ninety six sinker and I can get this guy out on one pitch. Instead, I'm gonna go sink her off the plate, cut her off the plate, slider off the plate, and then I'll go four seamer, dotted cutter, dotted slider, punch him out, and it's six pitches instead, it could be one. You can be like, okay, under next dude could have gone nine innings every time. But he I mean, he'd go seven innings to strike out twelve, but you'd have four walks, four hits, and one hundred and twenty pitches.

00:18:08
Speaker 2: Right.

00:18:09
Speaker 3: That was where it was like, man, come on, dude.

00:18:12
Speaker 2: Yeah you're watching, You're like, this could be a complete guy.

00:18:17
Speaker 3: Every time I it was that his stuff was ridiculous. Yeah.

00:18:21
Speaker 2: I TechEd him prime, Yeah.

00:18:23
Speaker 3: And he was able to dial it up. Guy would get on second base, the everything would tick up in velocity and they'd throw that curveball that he didn't really care about throwing early until there was runners in scoring position. Guy gets on second base, you were like, what is what? Like you just knew this was before we had all the analytics or everybody's reading all the analysts. We had the analytics, but everyone's reading it like he was a he was a he was special at that time.

00:18:52
Speaker 1: And we're talking ball while that was running. But here's one for you. Anthony Vopi's up. He's playing today.

00:18:58
Speaker 3: Oh, he's playing there. I was like, why did you play yesterday?

00:19:04
Speaker 2: Yesterday?

00:19:06
Speaker 3: What's his name's Shuman? Schuman sah. It didn't work out too well. There was a little bit of miscommunication there with him last night. What do you mean just a couple of plays. The one they were over in the shift and Ryan McMahon threw the ball and it technically it was it was Schumann's ball, but it's like an awkward third base to shortstop throw. That was awkward. And then there was another turn. It wasn't clean. But now it's fine. Volpey's up. Volpe's ready, He's ready.

00:19:41
Speaker 2: Yeah, and Cabiira is ready to He had a great quote.

00:19:44
Speaker 1: He's like ten days, that's the maximum taking and on his way to the club, how you go the clubhouse?

00:19:49
Speaker 2: He said to the media. Brian Hope tweeted this nine days to go. I mean, if that doesn't eight days, I'm coming for you.

00:19:57
Speaker 1: And Boone already said Iron Boone, Yankees manager, right back into his job like.

00:20:03
Speaker 2: He was doing great nothing Bolt.

00:20:05
Speaker 3: He's one of the best short subs. Defensively, he gives him a different presence. He steals bases.

00:20:09
Speaker 2: Yankee fans love him.

00:20:11
Speaker 3: He's like a little He's a gnat, He's a little flea.

00:20:13
Speaker 2: He was like that with the race. I know he's great fights too, and I loved it.

00:20:17
Speaker 3: He's perfect at what his he knows what his role is. He's we always used to tell Gordon Beckham, if you're a flea, be a flea, right, and Cavero is a flee. It's like that annoying dude that puts together a hell of it in a bad Plea's unbelievable defense. Steals a base, is jumping around, big dog.

00:20:32
Speaker 4: You know how it is. Man, We're always hungry, and how do we get our food? We don't want the stuff that makes our bellies hurt. We go to Hello Fresh. We find out specifically what we love to eat. And guess what, Kratzy, I know it helps you out the house, old wife. He is happy and the kids are extra happy.

00:20:48
Speaker 3: I'm good at two things. Cookie is one of them. But not trying to choose what we're gonna have. I've gone fifteen meals so far, and they haven't given me one repeat meal. There's so many to choose from, and they can make it easy for me.

00:21:01
Speaker 4: Yeah, and I think the best part of it is is for me. I'm very particular. I'm trying new things, and I'm really really liking these things from HelloFresh. 00:21:33
Speaker 2: Crats, this one's for you.

00:21:35
Speaker 1: Second best record in baseball since Don Mattingly took over the Phillies is the Phillies eleven and three wheeler shoved. Stott looks good, Marsh looks really good. Bone's looking a little bit better. Sanchez is on fire. This seems good.

00:21:53
Speaker 3: Finally what we thought they were. Yeah, I think they knew that. I mean, they're not like scoring a billion runs. Warber going tonight to try to break the Phillies franchise record of and A. J. Perzinski's record of six straight home runs in a game. So we'll see if it happens five.

00:22:16
Speaker 2: So right, he's gone, he's going for six.

00:22:17
Speaker 3: Yeah, clearly anyone can do five. If I did it, Clearly anybody can do five. That's what that's. It's really dumb down by that. It's really dumb down six though.

00:22:32
Speaker 2: Six.

00:22:33
Speaker 3: I should have hit six, I had. Man, I was mad I didn't get six. I love that that story. You told that story. I got one pitch and I should have hit it, and I hit a double. I was pissed. I mean I was, but I was pissed, and then I like got nothing else the rest of the game. It was like two oh change up and I'm like, he's stolen me. A change up was the Royals. I'm like, I know he's stolen me. A two oh change up and I hit it down the ray field line. It was a double, and I was like, dude, the one shot I had.

00:23:01
Speaker 1: That's when you know you're feeling it. You barely get a shot, you feel like you know the pitch coming, the swing's right. That's how you put together five in a row.

00:23:07
Speaker 3: Yeah, sometimes sometimes the junk just comes together perfectly. It does.

00:23:12
Speaker 2: Swears the most homers in baseball right now.

00:23:14
Speaker 3: Yes, it's one every day right now, he does. And it's not even Juni yet.

00:23:19
Speaker 2: No it's not seven first inning homers.

00:23:21
Speaker 1: By the way, the Red Sox now back to back games with Bao pitching has given him an opener. It's helped a little bit, I guess, compared to what he was doing before. I know, first they win, they lost, right, so you're saying, maybe a good thing.

00:23:35
Speaker 3: They signed her to that long term extension has to have somebody start for him.

00:23:39
Speaker 1: I mean, there's a couple guys that when they come back, might boot him out of the rotation.

00:23:44
Speaker 3: They have all the answers. They have all the answers. The pitching department, in the front office there has all the answers. Don't even question them. A billionaire attorney, John Morgan plays the meet with Ray's managing partner Patrick Zuleobski to discuss moving a team to Orlando if a stadium deal falls through in Tampa. So John Morgan was a part, originally going to be a part of the Orlando Dreamers, right, and he left because he didn't really jump in because he wanted to see where it went. It didn't go anywhere. Although the Dreamers are still trying, which they have an office and they have gear now.

00:24:20
Speaker 2: They have no chance of an expansion team.

00:24:22
Speaker 3: Thank you, which is exactly what I have said since the get go. They're never going to get an expansion team. Is Tampa in Miami or here that we're not going to.

00:24:29
Speaker 2: I have a better chance of an expansion You.

00:24:31
Speaker 3: Have seven billion, Scott, you can get an expansion team.

00:24:34
Speaker 2: Not in Orlando, not in Orlando. They will not put three teams in Florida.

00:24:38
Speaker 3: No, and it's too close to Tampa.

00:24:40
Speaker 2: Correct.

00:24:40
Speaker 3: The chance they have is what this is going to happen. And John Morgan has a lot of money, and he has a lot of cachet, and he has a lot of polland because he's from Orlando, Orlando guy based in Orlando, started in Orlando, family's still based here in Orlando. But do I think this will happen? From what I know? They want the Rays one at least one hundred acre plot. There's not one hundred acre plot in Orlando that's really feasible unless you get really out in the burbs, like out in the Cassemi points in.

00:25:09
Speaker 2: And you don't want to do that.

00:25:10
Speaker 3: You don't want to do that. You've got to have the the theme parks involved somehow. I don't know. Would I love for a team to move here, Yes, do I think it'll happen. No, But this is a good pr for John Morgan to come out and do this.

00:25:23
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the arts in the mix, right. It's also just leverage. To me, this is just leverage. When you're negotiating with a city, you try and get what you want and you have to have something else.

00:25:35
Speaker 3: Like Sacramento had with Vegas, Jerry had with Tampa. Es Tampa and San Francisco used Tampa to get their new ballpark too.

00:25:45
Speaker 1: David Sampson and the Marlins used something and Sampson's talked about it on his show Complete fake.

00:25:50
Speaker 3: It's just Jerry try to use Nashville. They're not moving in Nashville.

00:25:53
Speaker 2: No. So it's cute.

00:25:55
Speaker 1: And hey, if something was actually legit and we felt like it was coming to our land, we'd be pretty happy about it.

00:26:02
Speaker 3: But I'd be pumping about it. I'd be on the phone, you'd see me wearing all kinds of stuff. But I just what I know is just it's not. It's not it could it could have happened. Yes, there is a great plot of lamb, but it's only thirty five acres. Yeah, that's what he said.

00:26:16
Speaker 2: That's what he said.

00:26:18
Speaker 3: That's what he said.

00:26:19
Speaker 2: That's what he said.

00:26:23
Speaker 1: Logan Gilbert said, shower with your clothes on, keep your uniform on, cal Riley and your oh for thirty six er. It will change things for you. It worked next day, two knocks. Welcome to the big leagues, kid.

00:26:42
Speaker 3: I mean this is you know, this is funny, but I've seen guys do crazy stuff. I've seen guys shower full uniform. I never unbuttoned my jersey ever. I would never unbutton it. I would just put it on, take it off with it. If I was like, oh for ten or something, I would just rip all the buttons off. So that said I would get a new jersey. I see. I mean I would. If I was in a bad one, I'd go and get just start over with everything from socks to underwear. Everything. I'd just be like, Nope, that stuff doesn't work, let's try it. H I've seen guys take their bats home put them in corners because they're not performing. So they're like in punishment and like time out. Guys sleep at their bats, Guys put their bats outside. Guys. We once had a thing, and I hate to bring us up. We once had a thing. We were in Toronto and we had a couple guys and they thought it was funny and they went and got a couple of blow up dolls and they put some in some reporters on. It became a big story for but it was just trying to get everybody to go hit. I mean, guys will do anything. Guys literally will do anything.

00:27:43
Speaker 2: Oh I I did not know that one which one dolls?

00:27:48
Speaker 3: Yeah, it wasn't very good. It was It wasn't a big deal like it was just it wasn't like it was live. It was just like they were around them and a reporter saw and they didn't think it was very funny and it was not like it was. It wasn't anything at all. It was just like sitting there and we all like walked by like okay, and then we ended up we ended up going and winning. It was in Toronto.

00:28:07
Speaker 1: Real question like guys will do anything, Yeah, but also like real question, is that not okay? Like there it's a doll I mean if somebody, like if somebody they said there.

00:28:17
Speaker 3: Was degrading women and this reporter it was, it was it turned into something that should have never been and it was and I understood where it was coming, but it wasn't meant. It was just meant like as okay, everyone everyone, it's a it's a piece of plastic. So again, they have people who did it. I had nothing to do with it. So the people who did it apologize and moved on. But uh yeah, so there's ESPN.

00:28:41
Speaker 1: White Sox deal with fallout from blow up doll prankum.

00:28:46
Speaker 2: If that's the word happens in the world.

00:28:48
Speaker 3: I thinks the old Toronto when you walked into the Old Toronto Visiting Clubhouse, there was that little couch that was sitting right there. You walked in and you took a right and then he left the lockers. It was they were on the couch right there, so when you walked in, you kind of had to walk right past it to get to your locker. And one persons on, I didn't think it was very didn't think it was appropriate. I didn't have anything to do with it. I just walked by my locker. Was because I always had like the first locker in the corner. So I was right there and I just like, okay, well, I mean but it worked. I think we got kind of hot after that, so it kind of worked, Ozzie said. Ozzie said, the whole thing was blown out of proportion. But anyways, yeah, yeah, I mean, you know Yankees had the golden thong thing they try to guy. I mean, listen, I'm sure Crowds has a million stories. Guys would do. I remember guys would burn bats. Guys would I mean, guys would do any I've seen many guys take showers in their uniform. This is like not something new, like one if I was ever in an O for thirty or when I was in an O for thirty six slump, I got sent down. So dudes that are like doing things to get out of slumps, they're good players, and reality is they're gonna get out of those slumps anyway. But I used to put, like, whoever the best hitter was on our team, I'd look in their bat bag when we're going on a road trip and I would take one of my bats out, leave it and I would put one of their bats in just so that like the one time it was Christian Yellis's bat, and I was like, they, like my bats just need to like they need to find something out from the Christian Yellows bat, like, hey, what are you doing? What does my guy do? And then he'll tell me and then it's like a you know, it's it's reciprocal. Brad Miller the story. When we talked about this, my mind went to Brad Miller. Brad Miller hit two homers for us with the Brewers in twenty eighteen and we were in Cincinnati. Well, pregame that day that he hit two homers. He had a little back issue, so he had icy hot on his back and the icy hot gets sweaty and it leaks down into lower than your back, and he was like, Lord, how do I get this off? And I had heard milk, So I went and got a joke the milk, and he did a handstand in the shower and I poured the milk on him to get the icy hot off. Two dingers. Guess what we did with a gallon of milk the next day too, in the shower milk. He didn't hit two homers, and that's okay, but I wanted came on the show right at the end of his career here and I missed that day. We were going to tell that story. But b Miller maybe the best skinny guy pop that I've ever seen. Well, okay, he lives right there. We can get them moneytime.

00:31:32
Speaker 2: And that is why, by.

00:31:34
Speaker 3: The way, I can tell you, I can tell you speaking of that. By the way, I love that story. But I have a friend of mine and I'm not going to use his name that did that. He was he was making an omelet one time and he got the pepper on his fingers and then he touched his belly button, his belly button area, and it got on fire. And he's like, how do I get rid of this? And so he had cottage cheese in the fridge and he went and he put his other regions in the on his belly and then and then his wife walked out and was like, what are you doing? That is a true story. Oh yes, she goes, what is wrong? What are you doing?

00:32:15
Speaker 2: Crazy things?

00:32:17
Speaker 3: It was blown out of proportion. He used to do voodoo and stuff like Ozzie had all kinds of crazy. Yeah, that's that's scary. He had like voodoo and stuff. That's so I'm glad we did this. We learned a lot milk cures, peppers, hot sauce. I love you, Brad Miller. Good segment.

00:32:39
Speaker 2: Thanks, be right back.

00:32:40
Speaker 3: Thanks cal.

00:32:42
Speaker 1: Ohtani second, ab Homer, I know we mentioned it earlier. You buy into the BP outside thing and working hard on the swing and trying not to roll over on ground balls.

00:32:57
Speaker 2: All of that can't hurt, right.

00:32:59
Speaker 1: He doesn't really you that often, he'd I mean, he does a ton of work inside, but he doesn't really do much outside.

00:33:04
Speaker 2: Pre game.

00:33:05
Speaker 3: Yeah, I played with the kuy Nick Mark Cacas. He never hit outside, and he had a ton of hits. A lot of guys, a lot of guys have started adopting don't uh don't hit outside, especially in hot stadiums. A lot of a lot of people don't. I love to hit outside though. For me, that was like my reward. I got to hit outside. That was my game. Yeah, I mean it was like a thing. It got my body going, it I got I got climatized, got my body shaking and moving.

00:33:36
Speaker 2: That was your grounding.

00:33:37
Speaker 3: It was I'd hit. I'd throw my seven balls to Freddy Freeman every day about this hard, and then I'd go hit and then I'd go inside.

00:33:49
Speaker 2: You didn't whip it over there to him?

00:33:51
Speaker 3: No, no, no, no no. We played catch. So we literally play catch from like forty feet. We both of us would like about this hard about six times each and then we'd be like, okay, we're good.

00:34:01
Speaker 2: Good warm up.

00:34:02
Speaker 3: I mean because I had to warm up with the picture, so I had long toss with the picture. Yeah. Right, So there wasn't before the stretch. It was more just like okay, I'm good. Yep.

00:34:13
Speaker 1: Well, maybe shoeo Tani will start given the people what they wanted. And outside of it, all of this was not for the fans because it was too early.

00:34:22
Speaker 3: If he does this on the road, then we have some why because at home most fans aren't in the ballpark.

00:34:31
Speaker 2: This also wasn't BP, this was before.

00:34:33
Speaker 3: That, I know. But I'm saying, if he hits on the road regular VP, we got we got a story. This is yeah.

00:34:39
Speaker 2: I mean there are a lot of people that wish he did of course. Yeah.

00:34:44
Speaker 1: I mean a lot of people go to VP and it's just as fun for them as the game for the fans.

00:34:48
Speaker 3: What's what's Weirdy tries to get a home run ball everywhere Zach Campbell. He loves the VP.

00:34:53
Speaker 2: He does.

00:34:56
Speaker 3: I think they should open up the stadium for and have the home team hit after the visiting team. I think VP. I get it. I get it. I'm not saying I'm just saying I think fans. I think it is an awesome fan experience. And I loved VP. I wasting. I was hitting in a group of Broken Dreams Group three.

00:35:17
Speaker 2: Did you see the Mattocks yesterday?

00:35:20
Speaker 1: Bailey Ober He did it CG eighty nine pitches, two hits.

00:35:24
Speaker 2: I didn't strike.

00:35:25
Speaker 1: I don't know if he finished it, as many others didn't, but the Twins and Fish got a little bit of attention. I was watching the screens that had all the screens, so I was keeping an eye on that one.

00:35:36
Speaker 2: And postgame they talked to me.

00:35:38
Speaker 1: He said they were super aggressive with their swings, so he was bringing it right to the Marlins and the key also for Bailey, he said, was to stay away from his manager, Derek Shelton, so that maybe he would just forget about his six foot nine.

00:35:53
Speaker 2: Starter who was dealing. He was like, I didn't want him to take me out, so I was trying to avoid.

00:35:58
Speaker 3: It's kind of hard it's kind of hard.

00:36:00
Speaker 2: Can't miss Bailey Over in a dugout.

00:36:03
Speaker 3: He's sitting there. Everybody else is like this in the dugout, He's like, bo, nobody's gonna see me, right right, nobody's gonna see me.

00:36:14
Speaker 1: He's a good dude. Yes, he's a really nice guy. I would say it's like an underrated pitcher in the sport.

00:36:20
Speaker 3: Right.

00:36:20
Speaker 1: He's been doing it for a while now. It took him some time to get there and he's been a mid rotation starter. No, does not throw a billion by any means.

00:36:29
Speaker 2: I mean he.

00:36:32
Speaker 3: He's got a little Chris Young and him like super high and he throws like that simball and they swing and miss at it for a long time, and teams that don't make adjustments just keep swinging, missing, keep popping up. Oh, I'm gonna get him. Oh for three? Comfortable? Oh for three? Is Bailey Over? Mm hmm, doesn't walk anybody didn't punch out a lot of guys. It's good pitching, good pitching.

00:36:57
Speaker 2: It's a fun watch because it it's different.

00:37:01
Speaker 1: If you watch that every night, it's not as impressive to watch as them is or Skeins or Mason Miller.

00:37:06
Speaker 2: But it's a nice change of pace. M. That's Bailey Ober for you.

00:37:12
Speaker 3: Good job. You know, I used to know what the best part of that was. I saw the end of that game and I just got to see lots of Dustin Morris, the PR guy. He's running over the sailor. He's like distal and Bailey over is like distole.

00:37:24
Speaker 2: During the post game, yeah, they set up all his interviews.

00:37:26
Speaker 3: Yes, yeah,
