Yeah, it's the internet. You're busy. Let's do this. I'm Jeff
Grub. I write for GamesBeat dot com. I also do grubs next here
on Giant Bomb, and I'm here to talk to you about video games.
My kids already yelling at me. Yeah, open for you. When when?
When I'm done with this, Okay, just hang, I'll go upstairs.
I'll be up there in a second. All right, thank you,
sweet girl. Okay, So with that handled, with fatherhood completed, I
believe we can now talk a little bit about video games. I am also
going to answer your questions. So if you want to ask a question,
there's an ask a question button at the top of the page. You click
that, it sends questions directly to my face brain. I will absorb them
and I will spit out something that sounds like an answer. Probably won't be
a full answer. It almost certainly will include some guessing, but I will
do my best. I see there's already questions coming in. I really appreciate
it. As always, I could see that I did not stop my hair
from doing what it's doing. But listen, we all have to live with
the decisions we make, and that's what we're doing right now. Okay,
let's see, I got a list of stuff I'm going to talk about like
always, and uh, you know, this shows this shows good because it
gets me to like on, you know, around the middle of the week,
I start like you know, poking around and say, hey, what's
going on here? What's going on there? And I feel like because of
that, I hear things I wouldn't otherwise hear. We'll get into it.
Let's get into it. Let's start now. So the first thing is I
think that you be Soft is kind of getting prepped to release both X Defiant
and Ghost recon Frontline. I don't know if those games have dates yet,
but they are definitely in uh sort of a testing phase with both of those
games. I've half the time I forget that Ghost recon Frontline is a thing
and I and my understanding is based on like the testing that they've done,
is both games are maybe kind of what you would expect from a ub soft
multiplayer online sort offshoot right now. And that's to say they're kind of drab,
They're a little bit maybe not. They're not like wowing people who are
getting a chance to go hands on with them. But that said, they
are they do seem to be in working order, and I would imagine that
we'll probably get like public beta's, public alpha's here pretty soon for either of
these, So those are becoming pretty soon, you know. That said,
it's always weird how they might, like, you know, when they have
multiple projects like this, projects that like feel like they could overlap with the
same audience. How do they roll those out? Do they choose one to
go out first? Do they try to get the one that seems better right
now out first? Of these two of Ghost recon Frontline and X Defiant,
It's hard to say which one is in better shape. They both seem to
be kind of in this situation where it's normal development right where you have these
projects that are they have, they have a vision, you want to execute
on it. You get near the end, and now it's just like making
sure they're actually fun to play, and that that fun often comes in the
last few weeks before release. It seems like that is the point that they
are in development right now, trying to make sure the games are as fun
as possible. So we'll see when we get either those. That was just
a quick update on those. Uh yeah, X and played like a bad
three sixty shooter. Yeah. I think that's like they are just trying to
like get over that hump, like there's there is obviously going to be room
in the market for something that is a call of duty, Like I guess
maybe I mean, is there obviously going to be a room in the market.
I don't know, but I think there probably is room in the market
for something like that. But you really got to nail the fundamentals, and
it can't feel it can't feel old, it can't feel boring. And right
now my understanding is both games kind of feel a little bit like both.
Okay, I want to do talk a little bit about that all hands meeting,
that town hall meeting that EA had this week that Tom Henderson reported on.
I'll start by saying those town hall meetings, they expect everything to leak
at those meetings. So the things that they are saying are done so in
a way where they are phrasing it in. They seem open, they seem
like they're kind of being open and honest, but they are definitely not going
to say the real truth. They for one reason, they expect everything in
the leak. The second reason is you have every EA employee listening and you
you don't kind of want to like destroy morale or anything like that. And
also you're, ea, you're probably not going to take too much responsibility for
anything that went wrong. So they basically blamed battle Field twenty forty two's you
know, kind of straight up failure at least to meet their expectations, which,
uh, you know, it's millions of copies short of of meeting its
internal expectations, and they've lowered those expectations and it's still significant. It's coming
up significantly short of those expectations that have been lowered, even with all the
sales that you might be seeing for the game. So the game's in rough
shape. And and they talked about why that happened. They said stuff like,
oh, you know, Frostbite is kind of old, it's aging,
and it requires a lot of attention, and that delayed development. They also
said Halo came out and that created a tough comparison. Uh, and god
that that when they that latching onto that Halo narrative is especially funny because of
some other things that I've like, I've heard like third hand that I wouldn't
be able to like repeat, but they want to latch onto like Halo being
a problem for Battlefield. But head Halo not come out, I don't think
Battlefield would be in some great position. Uh. Their their real issue was
they didn't see a world in which a seventy dollars multiplayer only shooter couldn't just
thrive like it was still twenty sixteen. It's you know, Halo comes out.
Yeah, sure, that's a problem, I guess, But really the
problems continue to be Fortnite and Apex Legends, like your own game, like
these games that are free to play, that that people can go to instead
of paying seventy dollars, and they want to play with their friends, and
not all your friends are gonna want to spend seventy dollars, So a lot
of people end up just sticking with the free to play shooters. But the
real story, we've talked about Battlefield twenty forty two not too long after it
came out on the show. We explained what happened and EA didn't say this
stuff, which is just the game needed to be delayed, and EA said
we're going to push it out. And then also the game got a lot
of extra time and Dice didn't get it into proper shape. It with that
extra time. Even so, there was problems that problems at EA, like
with the executives making decisions, and there was problems at Dice. Both into
these deserved kind of equal responsibility for the game not coming together. Because the
game did get a lot of extra time, Dice just could not. You
know, it's a tough world with the pandemic and everything. Yes, but
they did get extra time, and it still kind of came out in this
rough shape, and everyone at EA knew it was in rough shape and still
tried to get it out. You know, they delayed it by a month.
The game almost certainly needed longer than that, as we could see right
now where they're kind of still pushing out updates, focusing on the core gameplay,
the core mechanics, and like making sure the game isn't as buggy as
it was when it launched. I'll say that, uh, when a game
like this comes up short of its expectations, internally at EA, they don't
just like accept those losses and just say, well, I guess we'll go
tell investors that we're not going to make as much money as we said we
were going to make. And if you're EA, what do you think they
go and do, like, what do you think they like when they're looking
for ways to make up money where Who do you think who do you think
EA considers to be like their human ATM machines ATMs. I will say that
this is like, you know, I know this might sound like conspiracy theory,
but I mean I also I think video video game fans will be fully
willing to accept this up this theory, but it's it's not a theory.
Uh, keep an eye on FIFA Ultimate Team, keep an eye on all
the Ultimate Team stuff, but FIFA Ultimate Team, and see how aggressive they
get with monetization in the next couple of months, and see if there's a
response there to squeeze as much extra juice out of that stone that they can
to make up ground that they've lost with Battlefield. I mean, you know,
it hasn't necessarily happened yet. You haven't seen like a lot of extra
complaining about FIFA Ultimate Team recently. But if that, if, if in
the next couple of weeks you do see like fans from that crowd start to
speak up about how things are getting real bad and FIFA Ultimate Team and monetization,
don't be surprised that's what I'll say. All right, let's see.
Uh, let's touch on dragon Age. This is something that people ask about
a lot, and I think we can recently make Someone said, hey,
is there a chance of a dragon Age Legendary Edition, a dragon Age trilogy
similar to the Mass Affect Legendary Edition? Excuse me, similar to the Mass
Affect Legendary Edition. And I think I answered, well, they probably wouldn't
do that for a couple of reasons. For one, the games aren't as
linked as the Mass Effect trilogy is, where it's one complete story. Also,
they move around from engine engine I think, like on Real Engine.
I think at some point maybe were the early games on Unreal I don't remember,
but I know that the later game was on frost Bite and that wasn't
engine change. So there's not like this obvious path of Okay, we're gonna
make these improvements to Unreal that we can apply to all three of these games
at once. They would have to give each game individual attention, and that
creates extra work for this thing that isn't one big, necessarily cohesive story.
Uh. I looked into it, and yeah, dragon Age Ledgendary Edition is
there's no plans for that still so and those reasons seem to be the case
where it made a lot of sense for Mass Effect. They got a lot
of good will with Mass Effect. But now to go put that same effort
into Dragon Age they're not gonna do that. They're just going to focus on
Dragon Age four. And that brings us to Dragon Age four, which I've
heard is in very good shape. I think that there was a lot of
concerns around this game because like, like like what is happening in a lot
of studios. There was some key talent that left and stuff like that.
I think a creative director left. But we are in that environment, like
I've said a million times now, where key people at games studios are going
to leave because there's a million opportunities for them and they're going to try to
get thirs right now while the getting is good, and so games are just
gonna have to continue with these key pieces leaving. And the word is that
Dragon Age four is in very good shape with all that stuff in mine now,
very good shape for a video game, and development means yeah, there's
there's problems, and there's headaches, and making games is very hard, and
everyone looks around and says Hey, isn't making games is hard? Right?
And everyone looks at each other says, yeah, this is tough, but
it's the normal sort of making video games is really hard sort of thing that
they're dealing with. And overall, when they look at where they're supposed to
be at, they are hitting their milestones, they are hitting what where they're
supposed to be and the game is on schedule. Now what is that schedule?
When is that game? If you've been watching the show for quite some
time, you are fully aware not to expect that game this year. It
is still at least eighteen months out from today, so not early twenty twenty
three, maybe late twenty twenty three, maybe, like that seems to be
sort of the earliest you can begin to expect it, you know, the
second half of twenty twenty three is kind of where we're looking at. But
even that seems, you know, pretty aggressive. But that's the earliest time
frame. So Dragon Age in good shape, but they aren't rushing it out.
They aren't super deep in development to the point where it could come out
later this year. But also eighteen months is not that long in the grand
scheme of things, Like you think about it, like you know, like
eighteen months ago. It's kind of right around the time we were talking about
Mass Effect Legendary Edition, and then we got that like a year later after
I started talking about it. So at least time will fly by and before
you know it, we'll be at Dragon age four. So that's the game
you're waiting for. Well, it's on its way. Okay, I feel
like that is all the stuff I wanted to talk about on my list.
But I'm sure there's a million questions. Let's get to it, all right.
I am gonna hit the button to bring that up. I think I
hit this button right there. There we go. It worked, all right.
I'm gonna scroll on down. I see a lot of questions coming in.
I'll try to get to him to as many as I can. Let's
start with Slaine Macawsome. If Kirby ever swallowed you, what would he look
like and what powers would he get? I mean, he would just get
the hair, right, he would just look like Kirby, maybe even extra
pinker because I'm very white. But then yeah, he would have a big
thing of hair hanging off the back. It would be beautiful, I think
personally, I think it would be would it would be art is how I
would put it for Prickly Pete. Hypothetically, if you got your hands on
some sort of handheld PC, which emulators or graphic and graphics intensive games would
you load on first? And which ones would run well? Hypothetically speaking,
I can only say so much because my imagination is only so good, but
I would say that surprisingly most games would run well. And I'm not just
saying thirty frames per second. Maybe we could talk about like sixty frames per
second for games you wouldn't expect it, and maybe even like messing with the
graphics options wouldn't even be all that necessary, Like, yeah, you'll do
it a little bit, maybe you will go from high to medium, but
on a you know, let's say something between like a seven twenty and a
nine screen, something in that range, like you know, getting sixty frames
per second for most games turning on the FSR and DFSR, like you would
just kind of expect it to mostly just work and be surprised. But that's,
you know, kind of what I would hope to see from the I'm
talking around it too much, I gotta stop. I'll say that, you
know, based on like the just the specs of the Steam deck just what
I'm talking about. You should expect good things and I'll talk about it when
I can. Donca based and Jeff blay Elden ring with me. I need
to test out co op before the embargo is up. Let's let's do it
tonight. Let's play tonight. Yes, definitely, I'll get on the PC.
You could show me mostly I'm you know, if I were to be
playing that game, I would just be kind of leveling up my character because
I don't know where to go, so you could show me where to go
from me con how Jeff enjoy the show. I thank you. I appreciate
that mikhn American McGee was hoping to crowd fund alas Asylum, the third in
the series. At one point this appeared difficult last year, but yesterday it
was on my phone as news. Do you know if he's given up on
that and moved on thank you? I don't know. I know he Uh
he lives in China, now, I know that much. I looked it
up recently, and so Charlie knows American McGee's Alice. Uh, you know,
hopefully it'll still come. I don't know. I've never really I never
really played those games. I remember all the advertisements, all the big deal
that was made about it when it first came out, But yeah, I
don't. I don't know what's happening with the third game right now? From
Luter Jennings, have you thought anymore about adopting me? Now that the holidays
are over, you don't have to buy me gifts? That's true. It'll
be easier, a lot more affordable to adopt you to It's just Kevin v
Hi Jeff, assuming you already spoke about the cap got countdown? No,
but I figured there'd be questions about it. What do you wish instead of
street Fighter six? Because it's probably street Fighter six. Thanks. I've heard
it's street Fighter six from multiple places, so I'm ready to be surprised.
But it's probably gonna like everyone should just expect street Fighter six, because I
that's what I've heard. Uh. I was even gonna I was gonna put
it in my list, but it seems like everyone knows it's street Fighter six.
So but let's let's like basically confirm that as best we can right now.
If it's something else again, that'll be a nice surprise, I guess,
Unless you, like, you're a huge street Fighter fan. Uh,
this should be pretty exciting for Mike Acid. Uh hear anything about the EA
skate reboot. I could check in on it, but last I heard is
development was going fine and they're probably gonna show it again soon. Although this
this is something I meant to say my top rundown. I don't know if
like there's gonna be a lot of major publishers doing events this summer. I
asked, I asked around. I haven't heard anything about like EA planning an
EA play for this summer, Like EA hasn't done E three proper for a
few years now. Yeah, I'll get I'll get you a new dipper in
a second, kiddo. Just hang on all right, good girl, go
get on the party. We're doing that. So yeah, what was the
Yeah, so EA play, I'm like, I was expecting you play to
like begin like early talks or something like that, and uh, there's kind
of like no, no conversations happening about that right now, and the similar
there's similar things happening at other companies. So I'm like, Okay, we'll
hear about EA skate at it at around the E through time frame this year,
and that doesn't seem to be the case. It doesn't seem like they
are planning to do that. So game mess might be really messy this year.
We'll have to see, but uh yeah, I'll I do expect us
to hear more about Skate four soon. Hashtag Skate four from Slane mcausom not
County Peacemaker. What TV show has the best intro? I don't know.
I liked, you know, it's kind of bad now because of the career,
but I like Buffy the Vampire Slayers intro that, like guitar riff,
was very good. It always got me going. It was like relatively quick.
I do sometimes occasionally just put on TV intro compilations on YouTube because there's
so much great motion in them. Like TV is a writer's medium. It's
all about the conversations and having like the drama and the conversations, and I
like that stuff I do, but really like, if I want good filmmaking,
I turned to film because they know how to like use motion and and
and like every frame is a painting stuff. If you've ever watched those that
stuff and intros to TV shows are usually so good about that. There's so
there's so much kinetic energy in the movement. It's I'll just watch those and
I like want to like feel something about what I'm looking at. It's like
just a really good rush of you know, sarahtonin watching that stuff. Let's
see Aaron Empty, although Peacemaker is the best intro right now for sure,
Aaron Empty, what starting class are you going? With? An Elden ring,
I am I have a bucket on my head, so I think that
means I'm a prisoner. I think I was like looking, I'm like,
there looks like there might be some ones that might be easier. But in
my heart, I want to be a boy with a bucket as an on
his head. I want to be so shameful. I'm afraid to show my
face, and I want to just cut holes in a pot and put out.
I want to be a pot friend. That's what I want to be.
Uh mighty war Canoe. It's twenty twenty two. Position to be this
generation's two thousand and seven. It seems like this year will be filled with
banger after banger, just like when we got BioShock, mass Effect, Taylor,
three, et cetera. Possibly the thing is with years that you expect
to be great, they could often fall short. At least that's what happens
in movies. I feel like when you expect, oh, a bunch of
good movies to come out, like a couple of didn't disappoint, and then
you would feel like the whole year was a waste. I'll say that I
expect this year to be pretty good, but there's also the chance that maybe
wanted. Like if Starfield comes out and is a disappointment, you know,
this year is not going to feel as great as it could have been.
Right, So, I'm always afraid of counting the chickens before they hatch and
all that stuff. I'm always afraid of counting my forks in the oven before
they heat up. You know what I mean? That old say from Inflection
Pixel Morning, Jeff, there's a bunch of leaks for Halo Infinitees forge Mode
here, and there any insight on how that's going. It's it seemed like
the kind of thing that was going fine, and then they were like there
was a bunch of fires with Halo they were trying to put out, and
it seemed like maybe Forge Mode was getting pushed aside a little bit. But
that's sort of wrapped back around and now it seems like that seems like that's
no longer the case. It should be here, like when they said it
will be here. Okay almost not something over from Jazz twenty eight. Hey,
Jeff, you mentioned that Ubisoft wants to do smaller games, any chance
for Child of Like two. I remember the director of the original tweeting a
cover of the script for a while back. It's my wife's favorite game,
you know. When I said that, like what I meant is Ubisoft wants
to do smaller games under the umbrella of its bigger games. So and that
doesn't mean like, oh, we're gonna do experimental small stuff that has nothing
to do with these games. They're gonna do a Rainbow six Siege as the
big game, and then they're gonna do a Rainbow six you know, extraction
underneath that, and they're gonna have their Ghost Recon game that's gonna be the
big live service game. You know, the most recent one was kind of
a disappointment, but they're keeping that going is the big live service game,
trying NFTs in that and all that stuff. And then underneath that they're doing
Ghost Recon Frontline or whatever, and they're doing a you know, you know,
that's the that's the plan is to do smaller games more quickly under these
same same brands. Does that mean Child of Light two has no chance to
come out. I don't think so. But also I wouldn't. I'm not
expecting it. I wouldn't expect it from Tokoda. Why do some people get
so mad when others compare a game to Breath of the Wild. I don't
know. For the most part, I think some of it's just some people
don't appreciate what Breath of the Wild is doing and why it's so influential.
They just see like it's an open world game, and they're like, there
were open world games before Breath of the Wild, and I'm like, it's
not exactly what people are talking about when they like. The reason like so
many developers are looking at Breath of the Wild right now is not like,
oh, it's just an open world game. It's like, first of it's
the way the open world was designed. They want people to feel more like
they are a part of the adventure and not just being led from one thing
on the map to the next. And the ways that Breath of the Wild
did that were special and different and kind of having like an open world where
it actually is open you could kind of go anywhere from the beginning. Is
also something that was pretty different or not from you know, once you get
past the tutorial section or whatever. But but I think people are just like,
oh, that stuff doesn't really matter. I'm like, I actually very
much makes a huge difference to what Breath of the Wild was, and it
was the reason it was so memorable. Also, like Breath of the Wild,
like I was gonna write up story about this, I think, Mike
so remind me. Breath of the Wild is like maybe the most realistic game
ever made. And when people talk about realistic and video games, they say,
oh, that has realistic graphics. That's the most realistic game ever made.
But like d that Redemption too feels so sterile and fake to me because
when my character goes to open up a dresser drawer, they overanimate it and
he like goes through it super carefully, and that's not how I look through
a drawer. When I look through the drawer, it's messy and it happens
fast, and and so when this character doing this, doesn't they feel so
abnormal to me that I don't I don't actually connect with it. At all.
And Breath of the Wild though it doesn't look realistic necessarily, it looks
pretty good, but it doesn't look they're not they're going for a stylized graphics.
But you can look at a tree and be like, hey, I'm
gonna chop down that tree and turn it into a bridge, because that's how
reality works. If I needed a bridge, I could just make one.
And if you were to like to take the game to another person, another
human that hasn't played games before, and you're like, solve this problem,
they would most likely come up with a solution like Breath of the Wild enables
you to come up with and Breath of Wild enables you to enact that on
that stuff, and that stuff is when a game developer goes and plays that,
they're like, Okay, I've always thought that we could make games like
this. Breath of Wild proves that we actually can and should be and that's
why it's so influential. And then it comes back around and you bring this
stuff up and it's people who just don't appreciate that stuff, mostly saying that
it's, oh, why you gotta compared to Breath of the Wild. I
think that's what's happening mostly. Also, it's just people who are like,
don't like it when a game that isn't their favorite gets attention. That's probably
that simple too. From Watchman, how does it feel to lose to Canada
and women's gold medal game? All right, so I'm gonna ban watch but
I have that power, right? How can I do that? Here?
It doesn't feel great that Slovakia game two that for the men's hockey two was
real rough, but also Canada's out in men's hockey as well, So but
I was really hoping that USA would pull it out over over team Canada and
women's gold hockey, the whole women's Golden Hockey match. But I'm also not
surprised the women's team for Canada has been great four years now. From mister
mccrackel dank, Hey, Jeff, what do you think the future of Cyberpunk
twenty seventy seven looks like going forward? I'm pretty positive on it at this
moment. Uh. You know, a couple of months ago, it had
been like, oh, that game has kind of kind of fade away,
But it does seem like people are in a spot where they are willing to
give it another chance. There's a pretty significant sizeable audience that did wait on
the game and are going to play it for the first time beginning now or
this summer or something like that, and they're gonna get it for relatively inexpensive
and they're gonna get it in a world where mostly what they heard at the
time was like the evening News talking about how PlayStation took it off the store,
like it was that big, it was that everywhere. So it's very
easy to have this very low expectation, preconceived notion going in and with that,
with that framing, the game is pretty good. It's it's like really
solid, and it's gonna blow a lot of people away. I think for
me, it's it continues to be a fine game that has some fun elements
that mostly doesn't connect with me. But they are making improvements to that open
world that's Sandbox that I wanted. I don't know if they're ever going to
really get there and turn it into the full Sandbox adventure I was hoping for,
but they are making improvements. They are moving in that direction, so
I'm willing to sort of like give it a chance, and I think a
lot of people are gonna be willing to give it a chance. At the
end of the day, most people wanted that game to be good. And
if if this studio CDE Project Red continues trying to like meet those expectations,
even if it is late, a lot of people are gonna come to it
be like, Hey, I'm willing to give you that chance, and that's
that's nice. Uh, Prickly Pete. Last week you alluded to an issue
with Moon Studios and mentioned more information could be coming soon. Could you elaborate
on this at this point, I cannot just keep an eye out. Well,
we'll do what we can very soon. Let's try not to like like
spread that too far outside of like our little thing here, but yeah,
just keep an eye out from Kai. Do do you have any information on
the rumored Until Dawn remake that has been circulating this week or is it's is
it just speculation? I don't know. It could be either, but I
don't have the answer about whether or not it's just speculation, and I don't
have more information on that. That sounds good. Wait Until Dawn doesn't need
a remake, though, does it. I guess it'll probably just be like
a next Gen remaster, right because it's it's just a PS four game.
That's what I'm thinking. That's the horror game, right, I think.
So Miguel Manalo asked, can you win against Jeff Backlar on Arcade Pit?
Absolutely? I would destroy him. I would. I would demolish him.
It would would be in an embarrassment for everyone involved. You haven't watched it
yet, Like as soon as this is done, go right over to the
Giant Bomb homepage, find Arcade Pit and watch it. It was excellent stuff.
It is like very entertaining, very well done and uh and it was
very It was like a good competition, though the score doesn't reflect how good
of a competition it was. So check it out from Donca Basa. People
were streaming Eldering last night on Twitch for an hour or two. Just pretend
that anything you say is based on that. There we go. I always
watching some people play Elder and Ring and they got it started and they were
like, they're, all right, this seems good, and then they maybe
didn't pay a lot of attention to what the people were saying because they talk
in a funny way, like they're medieval and all that stuff, and now
they don't know where they're going. So weird. Huh huh weird how that
happens from azure Gale. Do you think there if there was a year long
campaign to politely request that Nintendo not shut down the three DS and we Ui
shops, there would be any effect. No, you'd have to get mean,
I'm sorry to say it, like it sucks that this is the world
we live in. You'd have to get loud and annoying. Uh maybe not
mean, like maybe and maybe not like try to hurt anyone's feelings or something
like any actual person's feelings. But if you like were to basically do the
response that Sony got with with the with the news about the PS three and
Vita stores PSP stores can't remember which ones we're getting shut down, you'd probably
get at least maybe a delay to that. But it also seems like maybe
that ship is sailed, and the reaction hasn't quite been as loud as you
were would expect. Even though the direction hasn't been great for Nintendo, it's
still been sort of like, well, shit, that's Nintendo. I guess
this, but that's Nintendo, and Nintendo's like, yes it is, and
they're just gonna, you know, just gonna do it from Bison Hero Hi,
Jeff, is there any word on how Capcom feels about the sales of
Great Ace Attorney Chronicles? The weird ones sent in the eighteen hundreds that came
out last year? It's a port of two Japan only three DS games.
Is Ace Attorney is still alive? Also? What's cap come up to in
general? So talked about a little bit. The countdown is Street Fight or
six. I would imagine beyond that there is probably some you know, you
could expect more Resident Evil, like they're making Resivil for remake. They're definitely
doing that. They're also making more Monster Hunter. They are focused on the
games that make them a lot of money right now because that's been successful for
them, So expect more in those franchises now, whether or not, like
Ace Attorney continues to be one of those franchises for them. It seems like
the kind of thing where they probably will get back around to Ace Attorney.
They seem to be pretty like good at making those games, getting them out,
and there seems to be enough of a return on investment that they'll keep
it going. I don't know if it's like ever gonna be a breakout hit
again. Or anything like that, but they seem pretty happy with the results
of making those games. The Unseen Shadow asks what is the sales forecast for
Horizon to Forbidden West? Is it expected to sell substantially better than the previous
entry. It's weird because we're early generation, right, so you know it's
not it's not exclusive to the VS five. It's also on PS four.
But the way people's minds work, and I think everyone here is fully gonna
understand this. That's what happened with Cyberpunk a little bit like Mike, like
Tokoto earlier I worked with him. He hasn't played Cyberpunk yet because he was
waiting for like he was basically waiting for the next gen update and also waiting
for them to get past the like the early release like hiccups and stuff.
Right, So people are gonna wait until they get a PS five. Many
people are gonna wait till they get a PS five to play Horizon too,
just like they've been doing with Miles Morales. Miles Morales is been in the
top ten of the MPD charts most months since it came out in late twenty
twenties, so we're more than a year now, so Horizon Two's sales,
like expectations are tough, because, yeah, it's probably gonna have a pretty
it's gonna have a pretty big launch. I'm expected to be like one of
those ones that sells between three and five million in its first, like first
weekend, right, That's what's been happening with a lot of PlayStation games.
I think the Last of Us Part two was like four or five million in
the first weekend. Miles Morales was like a little bit less than that,
and Spider Man, the Original Spider Man was a little bit below that.
If that trend continuu continues, this game should be even bigger. But you
just don't know. Is there enough of a PlayStation five audience? And is
that audience that really wants a PS five and wants to play a game like
this on their PS five but only SPS four. Are they gonna make the
leap now? Now the game has that free upgrade, so maybe a lot
of people will, But even with that free upgrade, people tend to be
like, I'll just wait till I get the PS five, get it then,
so I'm not tempted to play on the system. I don't really want
to play it on you know, that's not gonna be true for everybody.
It's gonna be a case by case, but it overall that has been the
trend we've seen with Miles Morales. I would expect it to be the trend
for this game as well. And then long term, we're talking about a
game that's gonna sell very well. It's gonna be the kind of game where,
alongside Miles Morales, that when you get a PS five, you're gonna
be choosing from a couple of games that you're definitely gonna get with it.
Miles Morales is probably gonna keep being that number one like game that everyone gets
with it. It's just so it's so broad and it's appeal was such a
such a well known character, it's such a recognizable character, and it really
justifies getting the PS five for I think for that mass audience. But Horizon
two is gonna be right there as well, So I would expect it to
probably get to twenty million lifetime once it comes. Once it comes to PC
pretty easily and maybe slightly faster than the original Horizon, and then later this
generation, if we get like a Horizon three, I would expect it to
do even faster, maybe get the twenty million without even having to go to
PC, and then once it does go to PC, maybe then it's like
twenty five million. Use these games should be massive though, this this Horizon
game, I would expect it to be massive. From upper Nut, good
name, Hey Jeff, something about Carby has been bugging me. You don't
say does Carby? Okay? Okay? Oh I gotta like steal steal my
gotta gird my loins to read this sentence. Does Kirby throat in the car
give him an inherent ability to control it? Or is he sticking his tongue
through the sound roof to control the gas and steering wheel? Many things for
your insights. Yeah, yeah, that's a tough question. It's like,
it's like if you have the force to use the force to just drag the
ship through space or do you press the buttons inside? Like yeah, it's
just the same thing. Yeah, I'm gonna say he's using this tongue.
I don't know why, but yeah, okay, is it this is a
future creep? Is it morally okay to pirate games that could that companies refuse
to sell us. I my my personal stance on this. I'm not a
lawyer, and uh, I haven't spoken to a lawyer about this, but
my personal stance is, and you know, you asked morally, you didn't
ask legally. If you've ever bought a game and you've given him a company
money for that game, you should probably feel nothing but okay with with with
playing that game in whatever way you do in the future. And I think
that if a company refuses to make a game available, it is probably I
would say it's morally okay. And if you have any sort of larger interest
in games, if you want to cover them, you want to do a
job like mine, if you want to make games, if you want to
speak about games financially and about their future, and you want to understand their
history, at that point, I think you almost have a moral imperative to
play a lot of games, and if these companies aren't going to make it
an easy way for you to do that, at a certain point, I
consider going to archive dot org. Going to Vim's almost like going to a
public library. It's like going to the library of Alexandria and educating yourself.
And I uh, and I kind of I don't I tell you, I
don't ever feel bad when I boot up Dolphin. I don't uh. Nintendo's
doing just fine. They're doing better than ever. And I buy a lot
of Nintendo stuff, and I will continue to buy a lot of Nintendo stuff,
and most people will. But when I want to go play an old
game that I can't play any other way, and even if I can't play
it another way and I'm already paying for it, I'll boot up retro arts
and I'll do it on there because there's there's reasons to do so, and
h and I don't feel bad, so I would say you morally and ethnically,
usually you are in the clear from bad at games. Fifteen games later,
the question should be asked, who truly is the King of Fighters,
King from tech En, King from King of Fighters Slash Art of Fighting,
King DDD, King Frost, or King Kai Is King from Techen? Is
that the dude with a tiger on his head or the tiger mask? That's
that's pretty fucking choice. I mean, I've always loved King and Techen,
so maybe it's between King from Techen and King DDD. Right, I'm those
are the obvious answers to me, But I think I'm gonna go with King
from tech End because he's a wrestler. Where's a tiger mask I think,
or maybe it's a leopard mask. Whatever, it doesn't matter either way,
it's it's fantastic. He's like if Bayonetta was a man and a wrestler,
does that make sense? I think that makes sense. From zekrits am I
a fool for hoping someday there will be a new Condemned game. Condemned was
like published by two K right Condemned. Condemned was too scary for me.
I tried at a bunch and Condemned two. Uh, but they were like
too intense and too like too violent, not like I like, I like
violent games, but like when the violence is like about like hurting people,
not about like tearing apart demons or something. It's like, no, no
judgment, but it gives me the squirmies. Let's see, I'm trying to
see. Okay, I'm just gonna hit this button. Then I clicked on
the thing and it took me to the definition of condemned. Oh, let's
go to Wikipedia here. Uh, publisher Sega man, I forgot that Sega
did that I want And then Monolith Productions is, yeah, pretty busy these
days and at Warner Brothers still. I mean, they guess they've always been
at Warner Brothers. I'm gonna say probably not. Probably not gonna get another
condemned. You probably are a bit silly for thinking that. Sorry. Uh,
fun fact there are two different Armored Kings and two different kings, like
two different like it's like in the lore there are two different kings. Because
that's even better. I love that shit when it's like okay, like like
how there are two different Stings and there was that fake Sting and the nWo
versus WCW game. Actually, like that's how I first learned about fake st
because I didn't see the episode where fake Sting was in it in a Monday
night nightro I'm like, why is there a fake Sting here? And then
eventually one day I learned like, oh, like nWo had someone just putting
on his paint and come, okay, not too much wrestling talking on this
website. I'm sorry. From doctor Powell, do you have any insight to
what other Ocean Digital Clips could be working on next Fingers Crossed for Medieval two?
I don't, but they seem to be pretty busy with bringing back classic
games and giving them the that real top of the line digital clips treatment,
So I don't know there. Their services seem to be in high demand.
I'll say that much from newspaper socks know anything about Phoenix right games, I
don't. I'm sorry. This is not a franchise I've paid much attention to.
I'm sorry. You can ask Tocodo though he does. From New Medic
Are you or your kids excited for the new Sonic movie. I've tried not
to. Uh, I'm I'm not too excited about it. No, if
I'm being honest, No, the first Sonic movie was fine, but something
about it was like, I think it's gonna been so much better. I
guess maybe Sonic two will actually be better. I would be very excited about
it if it was coming out on a Tuesday, so we could just get
Sonic Tuesday back for once, like if if we were close enough to God's
Lights still, that's how it would go down. From James outrageous. Loads
of people have been talking about open world burnout around the release of Horizon Slash,
Far Far Cry. Do you know any trends and unreleased games that might
start to break away from this? Open world games aren't going anywhere, but
I do think that the map game, which is is what we call it
a games, beat the map game format of Far Cry and Horizon. We
will they will try to sort of break away from that trend a little bit.
I think that's what I was talking a little bit about earlier, where
Breath of the Wild is not really a map game. It is a game
where you do there is a map and there are things to do on that
map, but you're not really just filling in icons on the map. To
fill out icons and then to turn them from you know, green to gray
or whatever, is how how Mike describes it when we talk about it.
They are gonna be They're gonna be games where you are. They're gonna be
super well designed. So you look around and you see something interesting and then
you go to it and you discover it, and I think, you know,
that kind of seems to be the path like not that it's not that
it's inspired by Breath of the Wild, Please put down your guns, please
put down the pitchforks, but it does seem to be the pathway that like
elden Ring is going for where they're like, yeah, there's a map and
there's icons on the map, but you should mostly just be like looking for
something interesting on the horizon and walking toward that and seeing if there's gonna be
a monster that's too powerful for you to take on right now, and then
come back to it later. So that's the trend I would probably think is
happening where they want to get you out of the map view. They want
to get you out of the out of the like Okay, there's a waypoint,
and I'm just gonna walk straight to the way point. They want the
world to be its own sort of guide post, and that'll be kind of
the slight shift. But open world is too popular, makes too much money,
It's not going anywhere. There's a reason the New Halo was open world.
There's a reason that's like, you know, the Legendi Zelda was open
world. Uh, you know, there's a reason new the New from Game
is open world. If you want to take a game franchise that was very
popular and take it to the next level now in terms of sales and popularity
and appeal, you still kind of have to go open world. You just
maybe don't have to go you be soft map game open world. And I
think a lot of companies have realized that recently, and that'll be the trend
that sort of sort of breaks away. Horizon is a map game, but
you know, they sort of stand apart by making all of the things you're
doing on the side pretty fun, which is maybe distinguishes it from Far Cry
a little bit, maybe especially Far Cry six. From Sir fox a Lot,
Hi, mister Snackt. Do you think a switch light oh led is
something that could happen? Absolutely? I think it happens this year. I
think November October November we get a switch light oh lad this year. If
not, it maybe early next year. But a switch light oh led will
happen, I'm almost certain of that. From Zekritz, what country or city
do you really want to visit someday? I don't know it. It's tough.
I like, I love where I live. Right now, we're thinking
about moving because it's pretty expensive, but I love where we live and I
want to just like go out to Breckon Ridge and Aspen and Veil and kind
of just go out there. They're expensive to go out too, so we
haven't done it a lot. Also, there was a pandemic which made it
more complicated. But I kind of want to just keep going to visit those
until I get sick of them and then start thinking about going to other places.
But when my wife and I were dating early on, she went to
go teach in France, and I want to go visit her. And we
kind of went on this tour of easterness Europe, I guess. So we
went to like Slovakia and the Czech Republic and went to Budapest and things like
that, and I really like that kind of that region, and especially we
went in the winter. It was super cold in Prague, and I want
to go back to Prague and maybe when it's like not negative ten fahrenheit,
when it's more like thirty degrees fahrenheight and I can actually bear it. So
yeah, maybe maybe Prague is the answer. Yeah. From Vector the Angel,
we're having pizza lunch at work. What's your favorite work lunch? Pizza's
probably my favorite? Probably is A pizza party is always a very fun thing,
right, Like it's just great, Like you go in a room and
there's pizza and you just go take a slice, and all of a sudden,
you didn't have pizza a minute ago, and now you're sitting down and
you didn't give anyone any money. And suddenly there's just it's in front of
you. Now you did give them your labor. Of course you have to
recognize that, but still it is nice to go from not having pizza to
having pizza. But I like like a taco Tuesday as well. I really
do feature creep. Where else do women have hair? Well, feature crow?
I get it now, all right, because yeah, that peach fuzz
thing. We don't have to harp on that too much, but it really
does. Like it's one thing to like not have ever been in a relationship,
to never have been close enough to another human woman to see that they
have body hair like all mammals do. It was very upsetting to think about,
like how you could ever be in a situation where you're old enough to
talk about video games. On the end, I guess hopefully it was just
a kid. Hopefully it was a kid, which is and it's like,
okay, well that's are off. We don't have to like talk about their
relationship to other people's body hair at all at that point. Hopefully it was
a kid food casual. Hi, seen your snacks? How's your Thursday rolling?
How sick are you of answering the question where win wake or Twilet Princess
for Switches. Thanks for doing the show. I'm not too sick of that.
Like I said that one so early, I was expecting it a long
time before this, So I don't blame people about being anxious about that one,
because it's my own fault. You know. This is what happens.
This is like the price I have to pay for speaking about leaks and rumors
and and stuff that I know is coming, but doing it way before the
company's ready to speak about it. I'm going to end up in situations like
this one, and it's my dishwashing liquid and I have to soak in it.
Right, So Win Wake or Twilet Princess, it's gonna come to switch.
It is again with Nintendo. They are in a situation where they have
more games maybe either near completion or at completion in terms of development, and
they are holding onto a sort of record number of these projects. This is
something that I've heard. It's something I think Emily Rodgers has said this in
public a couple times now recently. I really think this is one of those
projects where it is basically ready to go, but they are holding onto it
for strategic purposes of position in it in the best place possible to keep Zelda
excitement high, to position it against whenever Breath of the Wild two comes out,
to position against any other Zelda projects that might be in the works,
and they're just they're just holding onto it for now, Like Skyward Scored came
out not that long ago. Still, we'll get some space between that and
this, and then if Breath of the Wild two is still quite a ways
off, I think Win Win Wake or Toilet Princess probably comes out this year
still, but I don't know for sure. That's my guess for Mighty manche
eleven. What do you think switch Sports will play like Visa Visa v motion
controls? Will they have regular controller support for light owners? Do you expect
the motion controls will work better than they did for we Sports Resort on the
WU. Yeah, so the motion controls in a switch joycon are very good.
Actually, the accelerometer is way more advanced than even the WEE Motion Plus
was in those games mostly didn't use like the pointer controls. Now, I'm
sure there was, like I think it was a bow and arrow game and
we Sports Resort they did use the point pointer and maybe there was a few
others, But like like like the games that we saw in in Switch Sports.
Uh, you know, golf and all those other ones bowling, those
are all just accelerometer games. They should play pretty well. It should feel
pretty similar to what you get from playing a lot of VR motion games,
although of course VR also positionally tracks your controller and that makes a big difference
as well. All right, so let's uh uh all right, let's keep
going. Sorry, I'm just still thinking about where else do women have hair?
I ask your mother, Seve word. Someone stole my roommate's car out
of our parking lot last night. Why do people suck? Yeah, I
mean usually that means that someone's gonna steal it and then like run drugs,
and then it's gonna get left somewhere. It stinks. I'm sorry that that
happened. I tell the story about how someone moved my van at the gas
station the other week. It was was that here. I think I told
that on this on this show, where I parked at the at a gas
pump and then I went inside the seven eleven and then when I came out,
my car was parked crooked in a parking spot right in the front of
the seven eleven. And it's like it was weird. I have no idea
why they did this. It was my fault. I left the keys in
the I didn't leave the keys, but I left it running and then I
unlocked it and it's a push start, so my fault. They could have
just drove. They could have just driven off. It didn't have any gas
though. I think that's why they just left it there. That's the second
time in my life this has actually happened. Because when I was younger and
I my family had a mini van and that was the car I was driving
to like get the school and stuff. After like, you know, we
got older and we didn't need to all be in the minivan anymore. Some
robbers went through our whole entire street, went through every car. And actually
this is when I stole the nineteen eighty Malibu, because they went in my
Malibu and they stole my game Boy Color out of the Malibu, and then
they loaded all the stuff they stole out of all the cars into the minivan
because it was big, and then they they hot wired the minivan or whatever,
drove it a block away, realized that it was bone dry for gas,
and then they parked it on a different street. And then they got
in something else and and took that instead. So yeah, the second time
in my life a minivan without enough gas was saved the day. Somehow,
people do suck And I'm sorry that that happened to your roommate from pere Ball
B. What is the vibe you were getting from those you know who have
elder ring access? Who could say, who could have elinor ring access?
I'll say that the vibe I have right now is what the hell am I
dealing? I don't know, I don't know, I have no idea what
I'm doing. It is based on what I've seen in the public. It
feels like a from from made an open world game. That's the vibe if
from made an open world game. And also like it definitely is slightly more
friendly, especially for like my point of reference, which is seca Row.
It's the game I really got into from them. Secro doesn't have like real
actual like grinding leveling up. This game does, so if you wanted to,
you could just kind of loop over and play in the same area over
and over again, getting XP beefing up your character and then going on to
take other things. And then there seems to be a lot more checkpointing and
stuff like that, which is wild, but mostly it's also still kind of
that unfriendly or you know, unfriendly maybe it's the wrong word, but sort
of like, you know, this game is what it is, deal with
it, and that's still that vibe. But in an open world game from
S five n eight k E. I'm just gonna snake, snake, snake,
snake, I'm messing that up. Oh snake? Is that what it
is? Hey, mister yummy yummy, you promised you personally We're gonna deliver
a lot of great games in February twenty twenty two. Where are they?
I think it's been a pretty good month right time. Light two seems pretty
good, Horizon for Benn and West is pretty good, Elder Rings still yet
to come, Cyberpunk twenty seventy seven got a big update. One point five
is here. So great games delivered. You're welcome. Uh Yeah. Secro's
probably probably the hardest, and I drived with that one the best because it
was all It's like there is something in my mind where it's like, Okay,
the character is the character, and I can go in this battle and
I'm not really gonna go, Like if you tell me, I could just
go grind. It feels a little bit like, Okay, you're wasting my
time. Why isn't the character just strong enough to take on this thing right
now? Of course there is also some mental like pleasant pleasantness to upgrading your
character that I also really like absolutely, But in Secro it's just like,
now, this is Ninja guiding for the nes. Your character is what he
is. Go ahead and go in this battle and take him on. You'll
figure it out eventually, And I like that. Uh from Sarah Bray,
Hello, do you know any or do you know how many games are is
certain Affinity working on. I never thought of them as a big studio,
and they seem to have so many projects going. I actually don't know all
the projects. We talked about that Monster Hunter game, but Monster Hunter style
game that they are working on, likely with Xbox. That's that's definitely one
of their big ones. But they also are working on They continue to work
on Halo Infinite and they're working on a mode for that, and they are
still support studio for Halo. They probably will continue being a support studio for
others in the future. You know, they've worked on Call of Duty in
the past and now they have this really good relationship with Microsoft that will almost
certainly continue. But I don't know what other projects they are working on.
If there are other ones that are public, I can't remember them all right
from JP JP turps fan always takes me a second to get through that one.
Unreal Engine five was first unveiled nearly two years ago. Have you heard
from any teams implementing slash experimenting with the engine if it is actually making the
development process improvements promised in that unveil unveil? So I actually spoke to like
the CTO of Epic at one of our games Beat Summits just a couple of
weeks ago. I asked them a little bit about this, and he's like,
listen, we've made the transition at Epic. But it was like that
did it was an effort, it was, it took some time, and
now they say that they are well positioned to help a lot of other studios
do the same. So a lot of studios working on Unreal Engin four with
the plan of moving to Unreal Egion five, and Epic is seems happy now
to be like, okay, we can help you do that. But they
are still many of these students are still doing that. From what we've heard
otherwise is like a lot of games that were Unreligion five native, I guess
that we're always working on Unreal Engion five or made the transition a long time
ago on their own. They do seem to be requiring more time. Like
you say, like that is it. I'm gonna make the development process improvements
promised in that unveiling, and like the thing that you're speaking to are things
like I'm not gonna remember the brand names of all their technologies and stuff like
that, but like their lighting tech like lumens and uh, the their level
of detail tech. But that sort of removes the idea of love and just
has like a much more scalable thing where it's constantly scaling and could do so
in an instant, and you don't like load into a game and get that
weird thing where it's like, okay, here's a house, but instead of
you know, having the right number of sides, it's just this blob for
a couple of seconds while the game tries to load it in and being able
to create cities like really quickly with the Unreligience tools and stuff, that stuff
will help, but resources sort of fill the vacuum that you provide for them.
So if you create more space for the art team because they don't have
to create as many assets for a city, because this AI can sort of
do it on its own, you're gonna have that a AI team or that
I'm sorry, that art team working on other stuff. Now you can have
them detail the interiors with all of these buildings because they have more time.
Right So, I think what happens is is that, especially when you transition
to a new technology, these studios see like, okay, we can increase
the scope of what our game was going to be, but they don't have
a good idea of actually what the limits of that scope scoping should be because
they've never done it in this way before with this new technology. So I
think sometimes their you know, their eyes get bigger than their stomach, that
sort of thing. So that seems to be the issue that a lot of
teams working in an unreligion five are dealing with. Right now, Okay,
let's see, let's get yeah, let's keep going. We're gonna we're doing
pretty good. We're getting through these questions from it's uh me, are you
going to revisit twenty seventy seven since the update. I was I actually the
day before the update, I actually installed it so that I could have it
ready to go, and I was playing it a little bit. I was
playing on on like some certain devices and stuff, and it ran pretty okay,
not as good as most other games, but it ran okay, and
I I was like, Okay, yeah, I want to like see through
this game again, play it from a slightly different perspective, but kind of
still be the character I like to be. And then you know, the
update came out. I'm like, oh yeah, and it seems to run
even better and stuff like that, so I'm ready to but it's also a
very busy time. And then right then is when I got my Elder Ring
code, so I'm like, okay, I'm actually gonna be a bit too
busy with other games and lot's like this, like it's been non stop this
month, Like I got Dying Light, and then we got Horizon code,
and there was a few like Seafood came like came out and I had that
code for a while, and I haven't really been able to get through any
of these games. I'm like, elder Ring, I definitely want to get
through. So I am putting Cyberpunk aside for now and then maybe this summer
I'll come back to it. But there's a lot of new games I want
to get through first, you know. I did. I did play Cyberpunk
twenty seventy seven. I did complete that game. I reviewed it, gave
it a three out of five. For me, it still seems like,
for the most part, a three out of five game based mostly on it's
sort of being fun and good and not great at any one thing really from
a propaganda panda. With Nintendo announcing the three DS and we you E Shop
closure, do you think they keep the download servers up for longer than a
year after? With the W and DSi it was this pattern then I could
doubt it was this pattern. I could download games or I'm sorry, it
sounds like you couldn't download games anymore than a year later. It's kind of
how you're putting in it. Also, that QA was something, Yeah,
the QA about shutting this stuff down. It's just definitely Nintendo Serve being defiant.
I would say it's probably gonna be about a year later and then they'll
shut download download servers, maybe a little bit longer, you know, but
three DS and WE you are not as popular as the WE and DSi.
But maybe the audience is slightly like maybe the behavior behavior is slightly slightly different,
Like people on WE and DSi weren't downloading a ton of games. Three
DS we You, there was a significant audience that was all digital. So
maybe there is that that slight difference, and maybe that behavior or encourages them
to keep it going a little bit longer. So yeah, maybe I've changed
in my mind. I think it'll it'll go maybe a bit longer than a
year. From propaganda Panda as well, with the time frame you're saying for
Dragon Age four, is the new Mass Effect anything more than that teaser?
Not really, it's mostly that teaser. I mean it's in pre production.
There are artists who are dedicated to Mass Effect coming up with ideas. There's
definitely people building out concepts for what the game can be. But it's pre
production. It's it's pre production for Mass Effect. Still, it'll be in
a situation where once Dragon Age four is done and it gets its updates,
the team will be ready to quickly move into actual production of Mass Effect.
But don't consider it in anything but pre production until then from SWSP is Braid
Anniversary Edition dead. It was announced in twenty twenty. The website and developer
Twitter and developers Twitter are quiet. Did Jonathan Blow exhaust any remaining goodwill?
Yeah? I feel it certainly seems that way. I don't know, if
it's dead, you'll probably just surprisingly come out at some point, But yeah,
Jonathan Blows definitely has his weird relationship with gamers and with the media and
with everyone else, and it's pretty sort of antagonistic in a lot of ways.
I still I remember I talked to Jonathan Blow at the at the launch
of the two of the PlayStation four in New York, and we flew out
to New York and he was there showing off what is it the line Shampe
game that I really liked, The Witness. He was showing off the Witness,
and I was like blown away. I'm like, this seems like exactly
my kind of game and the way that Braid wasn't. And then you know,
and we had like I had like a run in on Twitter before that,
and I think he could remember that, but he didn't like necessarily acknowledge
it. But also he was I think, I'm like, oh, I'm
Jeff Grub and he went like, I know or something like that, and
I wasn't expecting that, but he was pleasant. He was fine in person.
And then remember being line and talking to him about I don't know,
a sitcom or something. We were in line to get food something like that.
He was fine, he was buzzingt I tend to like in person.
Jonath Blow was fine on Twitter. It's it's another thing, and I definitely
think that a lot of his stances are sort of laughable. But whatever,
I really love the Witness. I would I'll play The Witness again probably some
day in my life. I wrote a big long thing on games Beat explaining
what is happening in the Witness that I'm still pretty proud of, uh and
you know, like people like, but also it feels like trying to like
the sect Jonathan Blow and people are like, I don't care about that.
I don't blame anyone who doesn't actually want to go through with that. So
yeah, but yeah, I would say Brad Anniverse edition is probably gonna pop
up at some point, still just out of nowhere. Mighty Maunch Levin,
who would be your Rby's sandwich of choice? Meat Fighter Okay, I like
this. I would probably go with the roast Beef Classic because that's the that's
your reu, that's your reu, and I think that the roast Beef Classic.
But it's like sesame seed bun. That's like it's it's it's something you
can rely on. It's gonna have like a lot of like range in terms
of what it's capable of. But it's also gonna be pretty easy to process.
It's gonna go right through you. I don't know what that means from
what theres have you seen the latest pervert Pokemon Sneezler? I imagined that name
is only said in Gersman's creep voice. Sneezler, I want a sneezeler.
Uh yeah, that sounds right about one of that. My voice even picked
up there. Uh, I haven't seen it. I'm gonna click on this
this thing here though. Let's see if it's gonna show up. Oh cool.
The first word right there is just breeding. All right, we're gonna
we're gonna up the thing real quick. Let's take a look at this boy
though. Oh yeah, that does look like it's going to like just be
waiting outside your window going sneeze. Well, thank you for that very upsetting
Pokemon. All right, let's get back over here to the questions, all
right? From Azure Gale, Our street Fighter characters guest starring in King of
Fighters fifteen, the closest will get to capcom versus S and K three.
Probably it seems like, I don't know, if the demand for crossover fighters
is probably not at its highest point anymore, and or maybe the potential for
them to like really take off is like lower than it has been in the
past, or maybe they're higher, but it's not as high as if those
companies focus on other projects. So it's probably just not worth it to these
companies anymore, and loaning fighters to one another is probably gonna be just as
effective, or may not just as as effective, but it'll accomplish mostly the
same thing without the same amount of effort. Right from Ryan, what's the
vibe of GDC this year. I don't know for sure, but it seems
like people are kind of ready to get back out there and start having conversations
and making the content deals that happen at GDC, which aren't exactly like E
three kind of deals, but a lot of deals still get done in GDC
and after years of people mostly staying and there's their online circles kind of only
hanging out in like their discords or playing multiplayer games with their friends, there
is a huge appetite to get back out there and intermingle with people you normally
don't intermingle with. So that's the vibe of GDC. It seems like from
Daxelman asking a question that I haven't thought about, but why haven't I'm will
Street Ruder six come to Xbox? That's a very good question, and maybe
no, I don't know. It seems like Sony would probably just make that
same deal again, like the amount of the amount of money that that Sony
is putting into fighting games and you know, owning Evo and being like wanting
to have like sort of a dominance of fighting games. You kind of do
you let Street Riter six go to go to Xbox or do you just like
let it go to Xbox but maybe you get the DLC first or whatever.
I don't know. I'm gonna bet that Street Riter six does not come to
Xbox. From b K twenty six, have you heard anything about when Apex's
next GIN update will come out? I haven't. I know they've been focused
on the mobile version. They did the Switch version, they did the mobile
version. The whole point of the backward capability on the systems is a game
like Apex Legends doesn't need its next Gin update anytime soon. And the thing
I heard from a lot of developers back then I got yelled at by Sony
fans for this is like they we're very happy to have, like the way
the Xbox back backward compatibility worked because it just worked and the games could run
one hundred twenty frames per second without having to do an xtgen version or something
like that. Popcorn you want popcorn? Okay, I'm finishing up and we'll
make some popcorn, all right. But that doesn't mean it will never happen.
They'll get around to it eventually. At a certain point it'll just make
sense to do it. But they're not. They're not in any rush to
make it happen. I don't think from Azure Gale. Wait, the Street
Righter crossover is with the free to play King of Fighters games. Sorry,
okay, yeah, I have no idea, but that also that makes even
more sense, right, free to play game where you know, you lend
your game to another game and then you have a certain royalty for every single
one of those characters that has purchased or whatevers or any sort of thing that's
unlocked for them that makes sense, Go get a bowl and then we'll do
it. All right, thank you from nander plus. Ubis says they are
going to release Skull and Bones in the next year. They are lying,
right, I think so? I think so. It seems like the kind
of thing where it's like, listen, a year is enough time to get
that get that game in some kind of shape for release. Let's just do
that. And everyone says, all right, I guess, and then eight
months from now everyone looks around be like this, there's no way this is
coming out. I don't know. I think they're probably lying. If anything,
it'll be a year and a half and then it'll limp out and then
get forgotten about. From Colin Colin's user name, good morning, Jeff.
You mentioned this on another show about six months back. But I love if
you've heard an update on the possible age of Mythology Mythology Definitive edition. My
brother I and I'm sure Ben Hanson would love to know. Yeah, I
think that they are doing that, but I haven't heard anything about it since
then? All right, hang on, I got it. I got a
kid. It's either crying or choking. You you got hurt? Okay,
okay, well you're just you see just those toes. Oh okay, go
sit on the bean, Megga. I'll be right there. Okay, all
right, I'm wrapping up right now. All right, let's do one more
question. I'm gonna go take care of this kiddo. Don't worry. She
literally hurts herself every thirty seconds. She's three. All right, I went
to the top. If you want to ask any other like last minute questions,
do it now? Re ask? I skip some so I thought we'll
get through everything, but this, you know, that's how it goes sometimes.
Christian Argentina says, you should watch Jojo Bacular is watching it. Don't
be the lesser Jeff, Watch Joe Joe. I don't know if I'm gonna
watch Joejo. Can I just read? Can I just read the manga?
Wouldn't that make me the greater Jeff? At that point? Manga manga?
I'm saying it wrong either way? Aren't I from Abraham LinkedIn? That's a
fucking name right there, Hey, Jeff, any hype for that Rescue Rangers
movie. I actually haven't watched the trailer yet. Mostly I was afraid of
being too horny from what's her name? Gadget? Is that her name?
So yeah, I just couldn't handle being that horny, so I didn't watch
it. From Dominito, Hey, Jeffrey, what are your thoughts Halo Reforage
leagues, I haven't seen them too much, but I always tell people.
Like with other leagues, I mostly try to keep them in at arms length
so it doesn't create a noise in my signal when I'm trying to figure out
what's real and like what leaks are actually viable for me to talk on.
But I'll look into these. I expect Forage to come out and be mostly
good. I don't know. There's gonna be an audience that loves forging,
and I think they're gonna be happy with it. From d pro TP.
Why is it that every time I think it's safe to fart, someone walks
into the room. They know that's just that's God watching and he knows you
got a ball? Oh you got a ball? Okay, great, go
set it down on the counter. I'll go put them the popcorn in the
microwave and we'll get it going. Good job kiddo for Mike Acid opinions up,
POUTI tang. I haven't seen it in a long time, and when
I did see it, I think I was pretty messed up, so I
don't remember much of it. Didn't didn't what's his name direct that though,
I can't remember now, Like, don't remember anything about that. But I
haven't seen it in a long time. Uh, Smitty had Jeff. My
wife and I recently moved from the US to Mexico and life has been awesome
here. That's awesome. I'm glad to hear that. If you had to
move to a different country, which one would it be, you're gonna have
free language lessons, lessons to help with any language barriers. Yeah, I
might moved, I don't know. I mean Japan would be great, obviously,
I don't know some of those Eastern European countries I was talking about.
I'll tell you I wouldn't want to move to the UK because that's just like
the US two but worse. I guess it's US one, right, that's
the that's the original. Uh seems super racist, like the United States.
And I'm like, I could bumms me out. I don't know I'm coming.
I'm coming right now. I'm just telling people I don't want to move
the UK because it's racist, because I'm trying to win over some English fans.
I'm sorry. Not everyone as racist is United States, where I live,
right So that's that's my opinion on it. I would probably Canada seems
great, Mexico would be cool. I like it cold, though, so
I would probably go with something like in the end, probably something like Prague,
like in the Czech Republic, or maybe a Scandinavian country or something like
that. Finland would be cool, or or Sweden would be cool, okay,
and then easy Night Dive what old FBS is getting remastered next. I
would be afraid to speak on Night Dave because I'm kind of friendly with MVG
who often works for them, and I wouldn't want there to be any sort
of sense of impropriety where he gave me something and I spoke on it,
which he has never done. But if I heard about Night Dive, I
would be afraid to speak on it because of that that link there. So
I don't know. I'm gonna I'm gonna guess that they are remaking remastering Slayer,
the first person Dungeons and Dragons game for the three D O. Hey,
Jeff, do you really do you really want to taste it? I
really do? Mika, do you still maintain a list of subjects? I
do, but it's like getting it was getting unwieldy. It's probably time to
check in on that and like dangustr. Yeah, we were gonna chick it
on three fields. I haven't heard back from them. I'll say that much.
I haven't. Like I'll send an email again and see Kingdoms of Omel
or DLC. What did that? I just wrote that down? Why would
DLC come out for kingdoms? Are we gonna ask if like that was a
whatever? Whatever? We're wrapping this up. Thank you everybody for watching.
I appreciate it. I am. I'm gonna go get lunch. I'm gonna
make some popcorn for this wild animal over here, and now I'm gonna go
play some video games so I can review some video games. I'm gonna be
pretty busy and then yea, oh you know what, Mina the hollower I
have that I have a demo of that game. I'm gonna stream at tonight
on twitch dot tv slash Jeff grub So if you want to check out Mina
a Hollower gameplay, which is the new game from the shovel Night developers Yacht
Club Entertainment, tune in. I don't know exactly when. Christian you can
help me out. Christians usually there and chat helping me out, so we'll
see. But me to the Hollower, I'm gonna play that. It's pretty
fun, so check that out. We can talk about you can answer questions,
let's say one that looks like the game Boy Color game, So tune
in for that. I'd appreciate that. Okay, everybody, I am getting
out of your fixture watching. Until next time, have a good one,
take care of yourself, and goodbye, and yummy, yummy,
