Love? 00:00:24 Speaker 4: Why are you doing? Why do you have to do this? That's right? 00:00:30 Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, LaVar Arrington. 00:00:32 Speaker 1: You can hear us the three of us on two pe Coup and Joe weekday mornings before the Dan Patrick Show. Happy Day after Christmas to everybody who did the right thing and was smart about it. 00:01:07 Speaker 2: I feel like this is a guy thing. 00:01:09 Speaker 1: Like everybody enjoys the presence, They enjoy opening the gifts and then the dad is there with a trash. 00:01:15 Speaker 2: Bag ready to uh right away, Bang bang bang bank bank, gotta get it done. 00:01:21 Speaker 1: Did the mess, the clutter, can't stand it bothers me. I don't know if that's OCD, but it feels like that's the thing we need to get done. You know, all the all the wrapping paper, all of that gone. 00:01:32 Speaker 4: So that's the thing I was thinking about this yesterday. Wrapping paper. I mean, as a guy, I obviously cannot wrap a gift for my life. It looks terrible. 00:01:41 Speaker 5: I do my best just to like make sure I like fold it and hide everything underneath, right, so it's it's sitting on one side. It looks great, yes, but don't turn that thing over. It looks shoved. It looks terrible. 00:01:52 Speaker 2: Yes. 00:01:53 Speaker 5: But I've also realized too, like you know, a nice little gift bag with some tissue pap that's easy. 00:01:59 Speaker 4: You throw something in there, tissue paper. It looks good too. 00:02:02 Speaker 5: I have been subtly trying to get my wife and and anyone else who's bringing gifts. I'm like, oh, yeah, yeah, I throw the gift back. I thought because you had reused that we had all throw the tissue paper. But like the bag, I'll just take it out and you can reuse it for next year. I have tried to sell them on the idea of being able to reuse gift bags in the future. It's only out of the motivation that I don't have to throw away the mess of wrapping paper and then have to wrap gifts myself. 00:02:30 Speaker 4: Is that selfish? 00:02:31 Speaker 6: Is that? 00:02:31 Speaker 5: Like, is this a anti Christmas thing? If if you're not wrapping gifts. 00:02:35 Speaker 1: No, I think it's all about efficiency and if if you're gonna if it's gonna save you time, because I always it's almost like, you know, moving it always seems like it's not that much or it's gonna go a lot quicker. And then you're in the middle of it, and I was wrapping gifts and it's like, this is such a pain in the ass because I'm with you. I can't I can't get the math right on the bottom of the box, Like I can't figure it out. And then there's like a sliver I like, I miscut it and there's a sliver of the box showing. So I've got to take a separate piece or put a bow over it to try and cover up what's underneath. 00:03:04 Speaker 2: Yeah, the gift bag's easy, man. 00:03:06 Speaker 7: Yeah. 00:03:06 Speaker 2: Plus those gift bags look nice and as long as you. 00:03:09 Speaker 1: Don't have to write to who the gift is from on the gift bag or the little tag that's attached to it. 00:03:14 Speaker 2: Yeah, of course you could reuse that. Why not? 00:03:16 Speaker 1: Like, listen, I've I've got Christmas paper. I actually somebody's wedding gift. They got married in July one year, and I used Christmas wrapping paper for it and I got made fun of. So it's like, what do you want me to do? Like, go go spend money on on wrapping paper for one, you know, wedding gift. No, you'd reuse your stuff and if people want to ridicue you for it, so be. 00:03:38 Speaker 2: It is what it is. I'm working. 00:03:40 Speaker 4: I will say this. 00:03:41 Speaker 5: I'm not going to go into too many details on this, but there are some very creative wrapping paper out there. 00:03:47 Speaker 4: I was made aware of this a couple of years ago. 00:03:51 Speaker 5: He basically, uh, a gentleman that I think worked with my mother in law. 00:03:59 Speaker 4: He had made a wrapping paper of just. 00:04:01 Speaker 5: Uh, let's call it egg plants, all right, I think we can say that on air and uh that was used for like an adult kind of gag gift. 00:04:10 Speaker 4: What ELpH at. 00:04:10 Speaker 5: Exchange gag gift is correct, and then part of the gift, part of the gift, well, you got the wrapping paper with it, so then it's since been used from that point moving forward. Oh no, yeah, and so every single year there's also there's also the idea of how do you mix in that gift but keep it away from the kids being able to see it. 00:04:34 Speaker 2: That's yeah, that feels like that could be problematic. 00:04:38 Speaker 1: That's that's a yeah, you gotta be gotta be really creative and crafty when it comes to that. 00:04:43 Speaker 2: Yeah, I was, I was not familiar, but oh yeah, that's. 00:04:47 Speaker 5: An idea you can uh, you can make that somewhere. I'm not sure where this tune made it, but it is. Uh, it is quite the scene. 00:04:54 Speaker 1: Uh. 00:04:54 Speaker 5: And and also another reason why I'm doing my best to keep pushing out the idea of wrapping paper and just more more gift bags. 00:05:01 Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't have to look at that every. 00:05:03 Speaker 2: Year, or just you know, you could. 00:05:05 Speaker 1: I've known some people to do this where you get somebody the same exact gift card that they got, you just add a dollar more. 00:05:11 Speaker 2: You could do that just all real pain in the ass. That could be well, I. 00:05:15 Speaker 4: Mean I don't know. 00:05:16 Speaker 5: Can we bring in like Patty Sweet or Chris Prophelt, Like, I feel like you've probably won uped them if you've gave just a little bit more, right? Is that how you look at a gift card if someone gave you, like a dollar more than the person before you, or they just been a jerk? 00:05:27 Speaker 1: All right, So pure hypothetical because this has never happened between Brady and I. 00:05:32 Speaker 2: Patrick. 00:05:33 Speaker 1: Let's say you gave Chris, you know, a twenty dollars gift card somewhere, and then he gave you the same exact gift card to the same exact place, but it was twenty one dollars. 00:05:45 Speaker 4: Really, so that's a nice guy, that's a better friend. 00:05:48 Speaker 2: Yeah. 00:05:49 Speaker 1: Yeah, but you but it would make you feel like less significant because you realized, oh, I just got one upped for. 00:05:55 Speaker 4: The same exact that sticks for that guy. 00:05:57 Speaker 6: Yeah. 00:05:57 Speaker 8: I feel like there's some prices, right, rules and as well that we have to be mindful of. 00:06:02 Speaker 6: I didn't know that you could. 00:06:04 Speaker 4: Okay, but keep going, Chris, like, where's this going? 00:06:07 Speaker 2: I guess? 00:06:07 Speaker 8: I guess I'm saying the point where it feels insignificant. It feels like there is a specific. It won't hit you at one dollar. But if you start going like, I don't know, ten dollars more, that's where you start to yodle off the cliff. 00:06:18 Speaker 4: Okay, and he's got okay. 00:06:19 Speaker 5: So is it more disrespectful that it's just one dollar more instead of ten? 00:06:24 Speaker 6: No? 00:06:25 Speaker 8: I feel like the one dollar more is just good gamesman. Shift ten dollars more is when it starts to be all right, what did I do to you? 00:06:31 Speaker 2: That's correct. If it was. 00:06:33 Speaker 4: A competition, who won, then I guess that is what I'm asking. 00:06:37 Speaker 2: The person who gave the dollar, right. 00:06:38 Speaker 3: Yeah, the person who gave the dollar probably win the competition. I'd be happy either way. 00:06:42 Speaker 1: Cagulation, Brady Quinnion, Yeah he won, Brady yay, Yeah, Yeah, you know, I actually thought about doing that, Like I thought about doing it, but I didn't realize that that was an option, Like I thought it was just wrap numbers only. 00:07:00 Speaker 5: What you should have done was just send a five dollar gift card after that, which would have trumped it all. 00:07:04 Speaker 2: By the way, at that place, I'll get you a napkin. 00:07:07 Speaker 8: I gotta say, I think I think Jonas had to send me too, because there was one he sent me that was like over a limit or something. 00:07:14 Speaker 2: He got split into two gift cards. 00:07:16 Speaker 1: Yeah, they're like some of these places they'll they'll give you a gift like if you buy a gift card, they'll send you an extra amount, additional like so yeah, that was you know, and I was like, well, I wasn't going to keep that because I would have felt, you know, kind of like a scumbag. So I just let Profet have all of it. It's like, I don't want this, so you take it. 00:07:33 Speaker 2: By the way, can I gift that gift card back to you? Sure? Yeah that's fine. 00:07:37 Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah you gifted and gift cards are great that way. 00:07:40 Speaker 2: Yeah. 00:07:40 Speaker 5: By the way, I came up with the new strategy as I always take my three girls to go shop for their mom, but I usually wait and kind of procrastinate. And it's mostly because then I like make sure because they know they're busy, they know it's a busy time of year, so then it forces in the really focus in, which is tough to do for a nine seven to five year old. But I also as we're driving to the mall to go actually shop for something, because again I'm not going to order stuff online. These kids need instant gratification. That's the world we live in. As when I'm driving now, I'm telling them like, all right, let's think about gifts that are useful. Let's think about things that your you know, mom needs or mom you know, whatever she has. And so they're coming up with ideas of stuff, and I realized my seven year old daughter is very, very detailed. 00:08:22 Speaker 4: She starts saying, well, we can. 00:08:23 Speaker 5: Get lip gloss an eyeliner, and I always say like, oh, you know, that's true. But if you just get a gift certificate, you know, or a gift card, then they can go back and they can choose to pick whatever they want, which always works out well. But I go, on top of it, you also get to go back with her, so maybe you get something out of it. So I've completely brainwashed my children. And you're thinking that gift cards are the greatest thing in the world to get for people because there's a chance, especially if you're a parent, they will then take you with them and they'll use a portion of that gift card on you. 00:08:57 Speaker 2: That is a good move. Yeah, that's again. 00:09:00 Speaker 1: Yeah, And my wife pulls like a little little scams like that as well too, Like she got me a DVD like or like some like if it's like a DVD or like a Blu ray of something that I have zero interest of watching, but I know that she wants to watch. 00:09:18 Speaker 2: Like I like, it's I don't even remember the name of it. I just looked at it and said, what is this. She goes, You've. 00:09:23 Speaker 1: Never uh never heard of that. I was like, no, she goes, Oh, yeah, it's great. So you wanted this, so you basically got it for yourself. You just want it. So yeah, Like there's there's a certain method to if you want something and you want to get something out of the gift yourself, that is an approach you could take. So the gift card would make sense. Like I myself personally, and I'll be and I don't want to call you out on the air on this, but like I was open to be gifted some some college football picks at some point. And then I was taking a look down old Quinn's wins, which we do on our show, and I'm seeing here a uh an interest sting little number that jumped out to me as far as your college football pitch for the year, that you're a game over five hundred, so you are going to sit on a one game over five hundred lead and not make picks because you don't want to risk going below five hundred. 00:10:14 Speaker 4: If not the case is not the. 00:10:17 Speaker 2: Case, Yes it is. 00:10:18 Speaker 4: That is exactly what can I please? Can I please explain myself? 00:10:21 Speaker 5: Okay, the gate So I knew, I knew that during this week and even next week there's a chance that there there could be some family conflicts and making some of. 00:10:32 Speaker 4: The shows, and so not knowing when if I'd be working. 00:10:36 Speaker 5: My thought was very similar to Notre Dame opting out of these exhibition bowl games. I will be doing the same until until the ones that matter for the college football playoffs, so at a specific time before those games, all right, especially with our College Foball Bracket challenge, I'll give another promo for go check it out. I will give the picks for those games that matter. I'm not dealing with all these opt outs, all these coaches with one foot out the door, half these players who play a half of football then sit out the second half because they're agents texting them to get out of the game and not do an I'm not dealing with any of that. All right, that's the world of college football. That's gonna go away eventually. I'm gonna deal with the games that matter, and so I will make my picks when that time comes and when I can be sure that I'm on the show. 00:11:28 Speaker 4: So take your shot all you want. The last piece of gifting advice. 00:11:30 Speaker 5: By the way, it's too late for this, but for those next year, I call this the Nick Kundiff all right, that's his name. 00:11:36 Speaker 4: He introduced this to me. 00:11:38 Speaker 5: You get a number of gifts for your significant other, wife, whatever. Then you make them pick one of those gifts, and then what you do is you take the others back after Christmas, and you not only get back the money from what you spent on them, but you're also able to take advantage of the. 00:11:54 Speaker 4: Post Christmas discounts. So there you go. There's my Quinn's wins for this week. 00:12:00 Speaker 5: You can apply that moving forward for every Christmas good move. 00:12:05 Speaker 2: I didn't. 00:12:05 Speaker 1: Yeah, that's that is a that's a great call because there's a lot of great like sales, like you know end of the year. 00:12:11 Speaker 5: Oh yeah, we're probably getting twenty thirty percent off something you bought on the twenty fourth than the twenty six today. 00:12:15 Speaker 2: Right. 00:12:16 Speaker 1: Hell, yes, that's a that's a great move, good call that that is ah, I mean, it's still you know, I would say that the bull season does feel like the NFL preseason, just in reverse, like they wait till after the regular season, like college football doesn't have a preseason, they just wait till bowl season nowadays. 00:12:34 Speaker 4: And I've said this for years. I'm a part of the Orange Bowl committee. 00:12:37 Speaker 5: So people might be upset with this, but you know, people in an actor that it was a new revelation with Rick Newho, I. 00:12:42 Speaker 4: Said, I've set on this show for a while. 00:12:44 Speaker 5: You know, all these Bulls should really think about trying to become a neutral site, non conference game at some point before the year starts. And I think once that trend becomes you know, more you know, common than not, I think everyone would follow suit. 00:12:59 Speaker 4: But it would create a lot of excitement. 00:13:01 Speaker 5: It's going to be around different conferences, teams that are obviously still in the hunt for their conference the national championship. 00:13:06 Speaker 4: It just it makes a lot of sense. 00:13:08 Speaker 5: And I think even for some of the cold weather destinations that have a little bit harder time maybe this time of year getting people to go there or even through the holidays getting attendance, you would have a much easier time in my mind, and making you know. 00:13:19 Speaker 4: This bowl season if you will work earlier in the year. 00:13:23 Speaker 5: I just I think that's probably the future of where a lot of this stuff is going. And especially when you have head coaches like Dan Lanning, who you know, he's saying, hey man, we should be going to Lubbock, Texas. Yeah, you know, he's outright saying it, which I'm sure the Orange Bowl is not excited about that. But you know, that's just one man's opinion, but there's a lot of opinions about that that this should really be played, you know, in the home stateium environments, and teams should get credit for what they've done in the regular season and host those home play at playoff games. 00:13:51 Speaker 2: That's the one. I love, the home atmosphere element of it. And and I've said as. 00:13:56 Speaker 1: You like LeVar was at in State College, you were in South Bend for Indiana Notre name right, I was. 00:14:02 Speaker 5: In South Bend for that game then also for Ohio State Tennessee. 00:14:05 Speaker 1: Like it's one of those things, even watching on television, you can feel the difference, like it does feel like a vibe whether it was you know at Texas, A and M last week and even look, last year it was a clean suite for the home teams. This year it was split two and two, but you could still feel that it had an impact and just the energy. It felt like a different scene, a different environment altogether in the post. 00:14:29 Speaker 5: And this is this is my argument for the thought that it takes away from the regular season. It doesn't take away from some of those bigger games because you don't know that you're gonna get the host one. 00:14:43 Speaker 4: You don't know the matchup until we get there. 00:14:46 Speaker 5: So there's elements of that same excitement is still applied because there's you know, even with like for example, Ohio State Texas to start this past season. 00:14:56 Speaker 4: You know the environment around that. 00:14:58 Speaker 5: And we kind of kept saying that the show for Big New Kickoff was it felt like a playoff game. You know, it felt like back in the day when you didn't have the playoff you knew if you dropped one game you might be out of playing in the BCS National Championship. You know, it kind of had those vibes to it because there's so much football left to be played. You don't really know where this thing's going to go, and you know when when you kind of get to that point of the season where you've got these home playoff games, that regular season game. None of that takes away from what those games feel like too, because they do become that legitimate sudden death scenario where you know, you lose your going home, you win your you advance. So it would be cool and would be neat to see what it would be like for those you know, games to continue to be played at home sites. 00:15:44 Speaker 4: But I will say this out of the other side of my mouth. 00:15:48 Speaker 5: There is a bit of a reward to going to a destination, to going somewhere else. The Bulls do a tremendous job and I played the Sugar I played in the Fiesta Bowl as well. They do a great job of making it feel like you're rewarded for what you've been able to accomplish. And there is something to that. And I think if you look at March Madnis, obviously you know that you know tournament and the size of it, it's built a similar model where there is no home court advantage. You know, you get like the regional advantage you're closer to where maybe your school's based on out of but you don't get the same court. You know, that same type of home court advantage, and it's similar in that light, I think as we move forward from the quarter final round moving down so I can see it both ways, but I can understand the excitement for those home playoff games. 00:16:33 Speaker 6: Yeah. 00:16:33 Speaker 2: No, it's it's fun. 00:16:35 Speaker 1: And by the way, speaking of the college football Playoff, we have a lot of success doing our college basketball Bracket Challenge each March, and we decided, you know what, why don't we do a bracket challenge for the college football playoff as well too. You took those clips totally of context. 00:19:37 Speaker 9: Oh yeah, Well, after this promo I'm gonna take you out and beat you. 00:19:41 Speaker 2: Let me put this into context. 00:19:43 Speaker 6: Shut up. 00:19:44 Speaker 9: Yeah, anyway, just listen to the Paully and Tony Fosco Show on iHeartRadio, Apple podcasts oherever you get your podcasts. 00:19:50 Speaker 1: Ye, it's the Dan Patrick Show here on Fox Sports Radio. That's something we do on our weekday show Monday through Friday. We will bring that to you here again about twenty minutes from now. By the way, before we get to our picks against the spread, the NFC playoff picture pretty much figured out, I mean, couple of seating issues that they got to worry about, but it does appear like the NFC South is We're just waiting for that whole thing to get figured out. Whoever's going to win that division, whether it's going to be Carolina or Tampa Bay. 00:20:31 Speaker 2: And it does feel like we. 00:20:32 Speaker 1: Could be seeing those teams play for it all in week eighteen. 00:20:37 Speaker 4: It'd be awesome. 00:20:38 Speaker 1: And look, I just you know, with how Tampa Bay's looked, it's been very underwhelming. 00:20:44 Speaker 2: I'm just I'm just rooting for Carolina. You know, I shouldn't. 00:20:47 Speaker 1: I shouldn't be rooting for anybody, but I would just like to see all the negativity, all the doubts that Bryce Young has gotten since he's got into that awful situation there, the coaching change, then hiring Dave Canalis. It just it would be nice to see Carolina get a shot at this whole thing. They won't do anything in the postseason, but at least, you know, get an opportunity and host a playoff game. 00:21:07 Speaker 2: There be kind of fun. 00:21:08 Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, yeah, maybe'd be great. 00:21:10 Speaker 2: Maybe David Tepper won't assault an any bartenders or hosts at a restaurant that he doesn't like the signage of. 00:21:16 Speaker 5: So I think that's a reckless allegation. I mean, he used to ask a question about the sign and probably someone's hat there. 00:21:22 Speaker 4: Or when he walked out. 00:21:23 Speaker 1: I mean, the guy through battery acid on a fan in a suite. So I think it's okay, Well, round up, it's it's radio and it makes the story better. But it is time for us to do something here on this show now. During the course of the week during the football season, we will have different segments like the leftovers that we mentioned like in case you missed it, that we did earlier, which you can listen to on the podcast. But one of the things we also do is a thing called spread them. We've got our picks against the spread in the NFL, but this is a little bit different. There's been a twist added to it because Brady and LeVar, who normally does this show with us, but he's not here today. They decided to throw a wrench into the whole thing. So we will explain what wrench that is. But right now it is time for this. 00:22:12 Speaker 10: Five lines, not those kind of lines. Five picks, five spreads. Time for picks against the spread. 00:22:23 Speaker 1: All right, So would you explain why this isn't just your standard picking against the spread segment that most shows do. 00:22:31 Speaker 2: Because you guys needed to nickel and diamond and throw in other elements to this whole. 00:22:35 Speaker 4: Thing, it actually makes perfect sense. I know you're not a math major, so this is hard for you. 00:22:40 Speaker 5: But we realized throughout the course of the NFL season, there'll be times when, you know, different guys on our show take off different moments on the show. So because of that, the picks always all won't be the same number. So we decided to say this year, we'll have your normal point if you get a spread right, or if you'll be you know, one if you. 00:23:00 Speaker 4: Don't get one right. 00:23:01 Speaker 5: But we have applied the opportunity for everyone, So this applies to everyone, which makes it very equal to get two points if they guess the money line and the team wins, or minus two points if they guess money line they lose. So there's the equal downside upside to this. So that's how we've done it this year. Jonas is saying this because he's below five hundred. He stinks at picking games. He's always been a bad gambler and bad at picking sports in general. What that's why you're upset about this because once again you're losing and your sub five hundred, and you get upset about this. Well, meanwhile, at least the LeVar has got to consistent strategy. He's a dead last place. But just playing the money line on every single game moving forward. 00:23:43 Speaker 1: Yes, because you know like that that you know the point spread and the terminology surrounding the point spread has been a struggle at times for certain les. 00:23:52 Speaker 5: Yeah, there's a little confusion for what the minus seven plus seven. 00:23:56 Speaker 4: Means and how that applies to our bets. 00:23:59 Speaker 6: So wait, so I'm sticks. 00:24:01 Speaker 2: Wait, so I'm I'm giving the what what do you mean I'm giving? 00:24:05 Speaker 4: Wait? 00:24:05 Speaker 2: Wait, I'm wait, Am I getting? What am I getting? 00:24:08 Speaker 4: It's just you know, he's resorted just picking the money line. So he's picking the underdog to win outright and every single oh my god, which he's a dead last. 00:24:15 Speaker 5: So the strategy has not worked out well for him. 00:24:17 Speaker 1: All right, So Patrick sweek as our executive producer, he's got the games that he has picked. 00:24:23 Speaker 2: By the way, what were we last week? Patrick? Do you have the results from last week? And overall I do from last week? 00:24:28 Speaker 3: Well, one of one of you guys is not applicable here on this, so NA on that because uh, mister Brady Quinn, you. 00:24:36 Speaker 2: Were not in last and we did not get your. 00:24:38 Speaker 3: Picks in at the buzzer. So no and void there. Jonas on last week you went no boy one five? 00:24:47 Speaker 2: There you go one five. 00:24:48 Speaker 4: Jones knocks classic Jonas And that's all right. 00:24:51 Speaker 1: I can I address some of this? Is it my fault that Tampa Bay stinks. 00:24:58 Speaker 6: Yes. 00:24:58 Speaker 2: Is it my fault that Den picked that game to melt down? 00:25:02 Speaker 6: Yes? 00:25:04 Speaker 1: Is it my fault that you know, the Indianapolis Colts started a guy who was born in the seventeen seventies. 00:25:12 Speaker 2: That's not my fault. 00:25:14 Speaker 1: So why should I be punished based on those teams not holding up their end of the bargain? My analysis was correct on a lot of this stuff, and for some reason they didn't perform. They should be the ones that get dark points, not me. 00:25:29 Speaker 3: Well, you know what, you make a compelling argument, but unfortunately you still won five on this one. 00:25:34 Speaker 2: Chief, Fine, all right, let's go. Then the bets. 00:25:37 Speaker 4: Don't your math, Patty Sweet don't know who he did this? Did lavarn not pick all money lines last week? 00:25:42 Speaker 10: No? 00:25:42 Speaker 6: He did not. 00:25:43 Speaker 3: He actually picked a He picked money lines on one, two, three, He did three, and then he picked the Broncos and then he picked the Niners up personally, So. 00:25:52 Speaker 4: Three I missed what three point was like? Five and three? 00:25:55 Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a five and three all right, So varmin five and three had a better week than you Jonas on there. And then as far as all the overall things, they're well, let's see. 00:26:05 Speaker 2: Yeah, Brady's running away with it. Rady's running away. 00:26:08 Speaker 5: That's look, I feel like the LA Rams right now, like and like Matt Stafford, I'm clearly gonna win the MVP. 00:26:13 Speaker 4: There's no debate to be had. Jonas is all you know, but heard about this. 00:26:18 Speaker 3: We will there be a Jonas or LEVARSI Seahawks here to claim the seat. We'll see, probably not. But with that said, it's time to go with the new batch of games we have going for us. So the first game on the docket, guys. 00:26:31 Speaker 6: Is sends Charger. 00:26:33 Speaker 2: Thank you, Chris. 00:26:34 Speaker 4: That's right. 00:26:34 Speaker 3: We have the Houston Texans on the road taking on the Los Angeles Chargers. Chargers are home, and with that they are a one and a half point favorite. 00:26:43 Speaker 2: Jonas, you get to go first. I'll take the Bolts. 00:26:51 Speaker 1: I don't feel great about it, but I'll take the LA Chargers minus one and a half. He I find money line that will I get extra credit ors that don't on the underdog, even though, just like everyone. 00:27:02 Speaker 5: Else, Jonas, if your money line it yeah, you'd get two points if the Texans won. 00:27:06 Speaker 1: Okay, so even a point and a half like that, that just that daunting task of you know, even as a point and a half. That gets you two extra credit points if they if they went out right like that. 00:27:16 Speaker 5: We don't make the lines, all right, all right, the odds makers do. You're under the same rules and conditions as everyone else. 00:27:23 Speaker 2: I'll take the La Chargers. 00:27:25 Speaker 1: This is a revenge game for them after what happened in the postseason Last Knocks Locks. 00:27:30 Speaker 3: All right, Well, LaVar's not here today, everybody. So LeVar picked the money line, and I'll give you a hint that may be a recurring theme for certain other games. 00:27:41 Speaker 2: We'll get to that a little later. 00:27:43 Speaker 6: Sticks, pick. 00:27:46 Speaker 5: Brady, what's yours. I'm gonna go to Texans here. I think that begged up Chargers offensive line. They're gonna have some issues with that front for Houston and uh, I don't know, I just I like Texans. 00:27:57 Speaker 4: The text has been will win this one out right? 00:28:00 Speaker 9: Queen? 00:28:00 Speaker 6: When swift? 00:28:02 Speaker 3: Oh, I know, with the PG version, different time slot, we tried, We tried looking for any other one. 00:28:09 Speaker 4: So that's what we yet is it themore? 00:28:12 Speaker 3: No, it's there, It's just it's the Lorraine is kept that guarded in secret. 00:28:16 Speaker 2: Oh for good reason. It's my personal. 00:28:19 Speaker 3: Favorite one too, by the way, next game up, on the docket. 00:28:23 Speaker 9: We have. 00:28:25 Speaker 6: Jaguars a Colt. 00:28:27 Speaker 3: That is right, we have the Jacksonville Jaguars on the Road taking on the Indianapolis Colts with Philip Rivers. Jags on the Road are actually six and a half point favorites, and uh, Brady, you get to go first on this one. 00:28:38 Speaker 4: I'm gonna go. 00:28:39 Speaker 5: With Indy here an old man Rivers. I'm not saying they're gonna win, but I think the defense keeps them in this one. I think Rivers running game, it keeps it close. So I'm gonna take these six and a half points here and Indy. 00:28:53 Speaker 6: Queen when swift. 00:28:56 Speaker 1: By the way, I am showing that that line is a six now, okay, well. 00:29:01 Speaker 2: Just I still like it at six, So I'll take the six points, all right, little Jonas, I've been fading Jacksonville, yea, for so long. He's just been fade, fade, fade. I can't do it anymore. 00:29:16 Speaker 1: I'll take Jacksonville minus the six short week for Indianapolis. 00:29:20 Speaker 2: I'm gonna go with the Jacks. 00:29:21 Speaker 3: Here knocks locks all right, and LeVar everybody well, second verse, same as the first. 00:29:28 Speaker 2: You a money line? 00:29:29 Speaker 6: Here did sticks picks? 00:29:33 Speaker 2: I want to stutter all, wait, how about how much time you, dick? He did? 00:29:37 Speaker 1: Uh? 00:29:38 Speaker 2: He spent handicapping these games. Zero this. 00:29:41 Speaker 3: I'll tell you what when I texted him for his picks, Uh, he got back to me so fast, and it was the answers, well, you're gonna find out are pretty pretty similar. 00:29:51 Speaker 2: Hit copy and paste a little bit, so the next gamem on the dock. 00:29:55 Speaker 3: And for number three, we have my personal favorite, the Seahawks at Panthers. That's right, we got my Seahawks on the road taking on against Big Mike's Carolina Panthers. Here, Seahawks are seven point favorites. 00:30:09 Speaker 2: On the road. 00:30:11 Speaker 3: And LeVar, well, I'm gonna have LeVar go first and thee he went, money line again. 00:30:15 Speaker 6: It's gonna sticks picks. 00:30:16 Speaker 2: Yeah, money line yet again, Brady, you get to go next. 00:30:21 Speaker 5: With a lot of points for a road team. How'd that work out too this? 00:30:25 Speaker 10: Uh? 00:30:26 Speaker 4: This past Christmas. I don't think it worked out too well yesterday. 00:30:29 Speaker 5: But I'm gonna I'm gonna lay the seven points in Seattle here. I just I feel like there I've underestimated what they'd be this year as a team. I've seen Carolina up close. I feel like it's a bad matchup for them. I don't especially if Seattle gets out to a lead. I just I don't feel like that it's gonna play to Carolina be able to come back from behind. So I'm gonna lay the seven points in Seattle. 00:30:52 Speaker 6: Plus where. 00:30:57 Speaker 1: You forgot these super Mario brothers, I was was entering the conversation. Yeah, And I also it feels like a letdown spot for Carolina. Last week was a was a nice win for them, And I look at this and I go, Seattle's got extra time to prepare. That wasn't their greatest effort against the Rams other than you know how the game wrapped up. 00:31:22 Speaker 2: So yeah, I'm with you. I'm gonna go Seattle on the road here. 00:31:28 Speaker 5: Can that's this question too? Does this game matter for Carolina? Doesn't all come down next week's game? 00:31:33 Speaker 1: Yeah, Like that's like whoever wins that game is in, Like Tampa Bay just got to win it out, Like it really didn't do like that last week. Even Baker Mayfield said it was like, yeah, it's pretty simple. We just have to win out and we're in. Like it's but. 00:31:46 Speaker 5: Even for Carolina, like does this game matter? I think next week's only game that really matters for them. 00:31:50 Speaker 1: Yeah, and I don't know, Look, as much as it's a great story, we've seen Carolina. 00:31:56 Speaker 2: Have some have some rough goes this year. 00:31:58 Speaker 4: Yeah, so I agree. 00:32:00 Speaker 2: All right, thank you for picking my Seahawks. Guys. Love that. Next on the docket, we have Eagles and Bills. That's right. 00:32:07 Speaker 3: The Philadelphia Eagles are on the road taking on the Buffalo Bills in Buffalo for this weekend, and the Bills are in fact one half point favorites at home. A Jones, you get to go first. 00:32:19 Speaker 2: I'm gonna take the Bills. I think. 00:32:21 Speaker 1: Look, I know last week wasn't pretty for Buffalo, but they still got it done. 00:32:26 Speaker 2: I'm gonna take Buffalo in this spot. They are surging. 00:32:29 Speaker 1: This could be Look, no Patrick Mahomes, you know you got him out of the postseason. So there's that, and you're not having to deal with anybody like a Joe Burrow or even Lamar Jackson. As it looks like right now, I think, sneakily, this could be Buffalo's opportunity to get through, and I think they get it done at home against the Eagles. 00:32:47 Speaker 6: Knockslocks. 00:32:50 Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I'm with you on this one. 00:32:52 Speaker 5: I just I don't feel confident enough in what the Eagles offense would be, even though the Bills defense has been has left a lot to be desired. I think they get after it rab the opposing passer as much as I thought they would. I feel like they've given up some in the run game. So I'm gonna go with Buffalo lay the point a half here. 00:33:12 Speaker 6: Wins when. 00:33:15 Speaker 3: All right, now, stell me if you've heard this before, guys, So LeVar picks and I quote money line. Wow, it's four for four, all effort on that handicap? 00:33:32 Speaker 4: Yes, all right? 00:33:33 Speaker 8: Sorry, which side of the money line are these is? Just taking the favorites under okay, okay, Yeah, Well, we. 00:33:41 Speaker 3: Got a game full of underdogs in this one, or maybe they're not. 00:33:44 Speaker 2: We'll see. 00:33:45 Speaker 6: But we have bears. 00:33:48 Speaker 4: That's right. 00:33:48 Speaker 3: Jonas Knox's gutty little bears down the road. 00:33:53 Speaker 4: He's picking Chicago taking on the. 00:33:55 Speaker 3: San Francisco forty nine ers at home. Niners are three point favorites. And you know what, No, Brady, you get to go first. 00:34:02 Speaker 4: On the no no, no, no, no no, you want to go Jonas Okay Jones first? I want I want him, I want him to tell me he's not gonna pick the Bears. 00:34:08 Speaker 1: Money I mean, like, why why do you just assume you make these assumptions about me? You don't even know what I'm gonna pick. I mean, like, I actually spent a lot of time during the holiday. I spent time away from my son. They wanted to break a pinata and half, and I'm like, hold on a second, I got to do my due. 00:34:23 Speaker 2: Diligence here, geez going over my game notes. 00:34:31 Speaker 4: Why is that crumpled up? Should it be just a plain flat piece of paper. 00:34:36 Speaker 3: From our point of view? Really is He's just crumpling and moving it around. 00:34:40 Speaker 2: Pretty sure? That's my seven eleven receipt. I think that is. 00:34:47 Speaker 1: Wow, We're gonna go Bears, money line knocks. 00:34:56 Speaker 2: Hold on a second. This is a short week for the Niners. 00:35:00 Speaker 1: They've got to travel all the way from Indy go back to the West coast. The Bears last played on Saturday. I mean, I think this is an opportunity for Chicago to going there in surprise the people. And I need to get back in this thing because everything's been skewed because of these money line bandits, Brady and LeVar. 00:35:17 Speaker 2: So I'm gonna go with the Bears on the money line. All right, Brady, you up next. 00:35:23 Speaker 4: All right, I'm laying the three points here with San Francisco. 00:35:26 Speaker 5: I think if you look at some of Chicago's success is the last four weeks or just some of those close fourth quarter improbable will come back wins. 00:35:34 Speaker 4: That's all great. 00:35:35 Speaker 5: This team is wildly improved from what we thought they were going to be. 00:35:39 Speaker 4: Coming this year. So credit to Ben Johnson, Caleb Williams, the whole crew. 00:35:43 Speaker 5: I don't see them beating this forty nine ers team. I think the fort Night's will run the football. Brock Purty is playing at a really high level since he's come back now, So I'm gonna lay the three points here in San fran wins. 00:35:54 Speaker 3: When all right, it is now a Levar's pick here, and you know what, there's a stunner here. Why is it a stunner? Guys, he's gone five for five on money line. 00:36:07 Speaker 2: Of course. 00:36:09 Speaker 6: I mean, of course, money line baby just sticks picks. Why would it? 00:36:14 Speaker 1: Literally is the equivalent to the person who has no idea who's who in the NCAA tournament and they just pick whatever. 00:36:20 Speaker 2: Well, you know, a bear would be an eagle, and it's like okay, favorite color of jerseys. Yeah, like this, this is what it is like. 00:36:28 Speaker 1: And you know what, Levar's probably gonna end up going like five for five, Like that's exactly how. 00:36:32 Speaker 2: This is gonna go. 00:36:33 Speaker 1: So but unfortunately he's so far back. Brady's running away with this thing. So it does like him and I have LeVar and I have no shot. 00:36:40 Speaker 4: No if he you know, you have to look at it. 00:36:43 Speaker 5: If he went five for five on this right, he probably could find a way of surpassing it in win percentage. I'm not that much further ahead, but yeah, well I would also have to stumble a bit. He needs some help, but he's definitely doing better than you are. Okay, all right, Well I think you're in third place now based on last last week's results. 00:37:01 Speaker 2: I don't. 00:37:01 Speaker 1: I mean, you know, it feels like some of the math doesn't add up here. Maybe maybe Patty Speaks needs to spend some time on the math to get get these get this right. 00:37:10 Speaker 2: So it feels like you gotta put the math glasses on for that what it feels like to me. 00:37:15 Speaker 5: By the way, in the short amount of time we've worked together, have you noticed how bad Jonas is a. 00:37:19 Speaker 3: Gambling you know, I'm starting the sense of recurring trend and it's been two weeks. 00:37:24 Speaker 1: Just maybe, first of all, I'm not it's nothing. I'm bad. I'm just not that good. 00:37:29 Speaker 2: Like the same thing. There's a big there's a big difference, like I'm not I'm not going. 00:37:34 Speaker 1: But I've had really bad days. But you know, none of them have been my Knox locks. For the for my Saturday show. 00:37:42 Speaker 4: No one listens to it. Ben Simmons is chasing another passion that while also planning his amba comeback. His passion is professional fishing, and there's more to that with this. There was actually a video of him on like some some boat fishing and all that good stuff. Right, Well, he caught a fish and you know you're supposed to throw back into the ocean. Well, much like how he you know, shoots three pointers in free throws and he misses. He missed throwing the fish back. And let me give you a breakdown of it. He throws it back, it hits the railing or something that miss hits the floor. 00:40:22 Speaker 4: It is just still good. It flops back in. 00:40:24 Speaker 6: But he didn't even throw it into the ocean. 00:40:26 Speaker 1: Right, so that whole uh, you couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat. Like that whole thing is yeah, like that's an actual thing. 00:40:34 Speaker 3: Ben Simmons is literally an example of that. 00:40:38 Speaker 2: But you know, I can't people leave the guy alone, all right. His career is over. He's made, you know, hundreds of millions of. 00:40:43 Speaker 4: Dollars, like they're trying to make a comeback them all. 00:40:47 Speaker 1: Just he's fishing now, he's on a boat fishing. I think he bought some like fishing you. 00:40:51 Speaker 4: Do with your free top? You want to go fishing? 00:40:54 Speaker 2: No, go sit on a boat which fish? 00:40:57 Speaker 7: No? 00:40:58 Speaker 4: Yeah? 00:40:59 Speaker 2: No, no, I'm good. Yeah, I'll find something else to do. I'll go listen weights. 00:41:04 Speaker 4: Yeah, there's something wrong with you. I hope you know that. I'll go, I'll go. 00:41:08 Speaker 2: I'll go ride my echo bike. 00:41:10 Speaker 5: I got no problem with that. But I'm curious. Have you ever seen these fishing competitions where they like, you know, they try to like weigh their biggest fish stuf. 00:41:20 Speaker 1: Great, you know, but like little way to inside the gills? 00:41:25 Speaker 2: Yeah it's awesome. 00:41:26 Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I don't know, that's fun. Careful those fishing competitions. 00:41:31 Speaker 2: Yeah, what else we got, Patty? Oh with that, I'll actually give this over to Chris. 00:41:35 Speaker 4: All right. 00:41:36 Speaker 2: I don't know if you guys saw it. 00:41:37 Speaker 8: The Netflix broadcast for the Christmas Games with kind of a mess. Uh. There was a Barry Sanders interview interrupting Panay seoled down for the count. The only interesting thing coming out it was the German calls. And we had no Eagle though, being a being a real stand up guy for the brand, for the Netflix brand. Yeah that was Iron Eagle, right. 00:42:13 Speaker 2: Iron Eagle. Excuse me? 00:42:15 Speaker 8: You know yeah, Iron Eagles, the older of the two Eagles. They get both Eagles for these games, so I screw it up. 00:42:21 Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean listen stranger things back, uh you know, so uh yeah for them? What else you got audio? 00:42:27 Speaker 5: Did you know us to have an issue with the audio listening to those broadcasts? It just didn't It didn't sound great. Yeah, it wasn't good. Like the sound didn't sound like it was weird to hit everything else. 00:42:37 Speaker 8: I feel like Netflix wants to be everything in these broadcasts. 00:42:41 Speaker 2: They want to be the Manning cast. 00:42:43 Speaker 8: They want to be you know's how they had Tomahawk's stakes the Cowboys game. That's because Fox has the turkey, Like they just want everything. 00:42:51 Speaker 2: By the way, I'd rather do rather go with the I'd rather go with the Tomawks steak. You gotta pick one or the other that I stay. That's that's the that's the move there. 00:43:02 Speaker 4: All right. 00:43:03 Speaker 1: Well, it's been a fun one everybody. Enjoy the the busy football weekend, random bowl games and h We'll be back on Two Pros and a Cup of Joe coming up next week.
