<v Speaker 2>Okay, Davy Crockett is a historical figure, but not one
<v Speaker 2>from nineteen fifty five. But what happened in nineteen fifty five?
<v Speaker 2>It was that Disney aired a five part series called
<v Speaker 2>Davy Crockett. The series starred Fest Parker as real life
<v Speaker 2>frontiersman Davy Crockett, and Buddy Ebsen from Beverly Hillbilly's Fame
<v Speaker 2>as his friend George Russell. The first three and the
<v Speaker 2>last two episodes were then made into theatrical films, the
<v Speaker 2>first one called Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier,
<v Speaker 2>second one called Davy Crockett and the River Pirates. The
<v Speaker 2>series really had a big hit with the catchy theme
<v Speaker 2>the Ballot of Davy Crockett. Davy Crockett, King of the
<v Speaker 2>Wild Frontier.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>By the end of those three shows, fest Parker was
<v Speaker 2>very well known and the power of television was fully
<v Speaker 2>recognized because Davy Crockett was the most famous frontiersman in
<v Speaker 2>American history. By the end of nineteen fifty five, Americans
<v Speaker 2>had purchased over three hundred million dollars worth of Davy
<v Speaker 2>Crockett merchandise, including coonskin caps and bubblegum cards. Reminder, Lorraine's
<v Speaker 2>little brother in Back to the Future is wearing a
<v Speaker 2>coup skin cap because when did he go back? November fifth,
<v Speaker 2>nineteen fifty five. West Parker later claimed that he lost
<v Speaker 2>millions of dollars because his contract that gave him a
<v Speaker 2>percentage of the merchandising sales was with Walt Disney instead
<v Speaker 2>of with the Walt Disney Productions. That sounds to me
<v Speaker 2>like he gets screwed the lawyers. He gets screwed hard
<v Speaker 2>by the lawyers, no doubt. Okay, tell me about Peter Pan. Okay.
<v Speaker 1>The Peter Pan we're talking about is the nineteen fifty
<v Speaker 1>three animated movie from Walt Disney Productions. This had been
<v Speaker 1>in development as early as nineteen thirty eight, but due
<v Speaker 1>to the attack on Pearl Harbor, Disney had to switch
<v Speaker 1>to government training films and propaganda films. Peter Pan is
<v Speaker 1>the last film that includes all nine of the quote
<v Speaker 1>unquote Disney's Nine Old Men. That's the same Disney animators
<v Speaker 1>that worked on all those movies together. The plot surrounds
<v Speaker 1>Wendy Darling and her two brothers joining Peter Pan in
<v Speaker 1>Neverland to battle Captain hook TikTok and mister Smeeth. This
<v Speaker 1>has developed from the Jam Barry's play and includes the
<v Speaker 1>songs never Smile Out of Crocodile following the lead or
<v Speaker 1>the lead, and you can Fly.
<v Speaker 2>You can Fly, you can Fly, you can Fly. Get This.
<v Speaker 1>It was released in theaters in nineteen fifty three, nineteen
<v Speaker 1>fifty eight, nineteen sixty nine, nineteen seventy six, nineteen eighty two,
<v Speaker 1>In nineteen eighty nine, it is a Walt Disney classic.
<v Speaker 1>All right, d what can you tell me about this
<v Speaker 1>guy I've never heard of called Elvis Presley.
<v Speaker 2>If you do not know who Elvis Presley is, you
<v Speaker 2>must be from some foreign land I've never heard of.
<v Speaker 2>He was born in Tupelo, Mississippi. His family moved him
<v Speaker 2>to Memphis, Tennessee, when he was thirteen years old, and
<v Speaker 2>then as a very young man, he decided to record
<v Speaker 2>some songs for his mama. But there was a guy
<v Speaker 2>named Sam Phillips who worked at the recording studio that
<v Speaker 2>Elvis had recorded at, and he thought this kid probably
<v Speaker 2>could do well with this song. And Sam had this idea,
<v Speaker 2>I want to bring the African American style music into
<v Speaker 2>the white music world. And so he said, hey, Elvis,
<v Speaker 2>why don't you come do some songs with me? Recorded
<v Speaker 2>a few songs. One of those you might have heard of.
<v Speaker 2>It's called Heartbreak, Hotel is My.
<v Speaker 1>Bed lovel whoa.
<v Speaker 2>By March of that year, they had released an entire
<v Speaker 2>album of songs called Elvis Presley and It included some
<v Speaker 2>song I just came across called Blue Suede Shoes. His
<v Speaker 2>stardom was big. By the end of the year, he
<v Speaker 2>was already starring in a movie called Love Meat Tender.
<v Speaker 2>But then just less than two years later he got
<v Speaker 2>drafted into the Army and his follow up album after
<v Speaker 2>the Christmas album, we had Elvis Presley Elvis Christmas Album,
<v Speaker 2>and then nothing for four years, and then he came
<v Speaker 2>back from the Army and made it big again. Okay,
<v Speaker 2>tell me about Disneyland, Okay.
<v Speaker 1>Disneyland is a theme park located in Anaheim, California.
<v Speaker 2>Vin to Disneyland, I have me too.
<v Speaker 1>It's the first park opened by the Walt Disney Company.
<v Speaker 1>It opened on July seventeenth, nineteen fifty five. Walt Disney
<v Speaker 1>actually has a quote says laughter is America's greatest export.
<v Speaker 1>Originally wanted to build the park adjacent to the studios
<v Speaker 1>in Burbank, but they settled in Anaheim because some demographics
<v Speaker 1>experts predicted that southern California would become a major population center,
<v Speaker 1>and too bad that didn't happen. Disney originally envisioned a
<v Speaker 1>quote Mickey Mouse Park while visiting Griffith Park in La
<v Speaker 1>watching his daughters ride the Merry Go Round. Listen to

<v Speaker 1>only fourteen thousand of which were invited. Fourteen thousand got

<v Speaker 1>the Star Wars Galaxy's Edge there. It's closed very few times,
<v Speaker 1>including the assassination of JFK in December nineteen eighty seven,
<v Speaker 1>they had a big winter storm, and then in two
<v Speaker 1>thousand and one after the September eleventh attack on the
<v Speaker 1>World Trade Center. And for a long time when you
<v Speaker 1>won the Super Bowl, everybody asked you what you're doing next.
