Yeah, it's the Internet. You're busy. Let's do this. I'm Jeff Grub. I wrote it right over on GamesBeat dot com. I do grub snacks over here on giant bomb dot com as a contributor. I like to talk about video games. But that's enough about me. Let's talk about video games. Uh, we're we're gonna we got some stuff to talk about today. There's a few things, not a ton. I've been playing a lot of Metroid Dread. That's been my life. That's a very good game. That is a really good game, very solid. Well I'm saying very solid. I love it. It's one of my favorite games of the year, probably my game of the year right now. That's how I have my list sorted. Anyhow, It's fantastic. I kind of even the things that people are having faults with, I'm just like, I love it. I love it all, so very happy with that. So my brain's all metroided out right now. I got TROYD. Rage. I don't know, but yeah, this is a show where we talk about video games, and we do that with with you. So did the audience. You can interact. You could send in your questions. A lot of people already doing that by going to giant bomb dot com slash chat and hitting the ask a question button at the top of the page. Do that, send in your question. We'll try to get to it. You know, rarely do we have all of the answers, but we can at least have some good conversations. And that's definitely the idea. So let's get into it. Let's do this. Let's start with battlefield. There were some battlefield reporting this week. Tom Henderson did a report I think on Gaming Intel. I can't remember the name of the site, but basically there's a couple of things that were inside this report that we're saying, you know, one, oh, the beta isn't an indication that the game is in trouble because the beata's got so many issues, isn't that a problem? And then the other side of that was there's the games having an identity crisis and it maybe it wants to be more like Call of Duty, and maybe management wants it to be more like Call of Duty. There's some stuff to all of this. I'll start by saying that, uh, and Tom Henderson has since updated his story to say that he's talked to more developers who say, uh, the beta is not really that indicative of like some issue or something like that, that it's a beta and and things can go wrong in there. And now, of course beta's these days, for these days, for years now, have been part of the marketing campaigns, and I'm sure these publishers would love for their betas to be perfect and flawless. But these things did do branch off and they become uh, you know, while they will work continues on the rest of the game. Uh, some other work continues on these on these branches, and but not really like they're not going to completely complete all the features or even squash all the bugs. They just want to get into a state where they can test where they need what they need to test, and then move on all right, anything else would be a waste of resources. And that's pretty much what a lot of developers have said about this Battlefield beta And said to Tom Henderson, I think so, uh yeah, I would not take the beta as an indication that the final product is going to be great or bad one way the other in terms of it's stability and bugs and things like that. But as for as for like the influences of Call of Duty, as for the state of Dice. There's some some things in that reporting that sound that sound right to me. Where I do think Battlefield probably is having a little bit of an identity crisis, but that's likely due to UH. I don't know if that's so much about like wanting to change what Battlefield is. I'm sure it is a little bit, but I think that might might come from inside as much as it comes from EA, inside of Dice as much as it comes from EA. Uh. They want this game to succeed, uh, and and they also they still want to keep it Battlefield, but they want to try other things. And I think that the uh, the most likely thing that is happening here is EA continuously looks over at Call of Duty and says, why can't we have that? Why can't we have one of those? And that means they have brought in some people to try to do exactly that. I mean, I'm not even brought in. Vince Sampella, one of the architects of Call of Duty has been an EA for years. You know, he founded Respawn and now he's in charge of studios like what is it ripple Effect, and Ripple Effect is working on Battlefield, So I mean you have call of duty people actively involved in like overseeing an entire studio that is contributing to battlefield. So that's the kind of thing where, yeah, that's going to have a rub on effect and there's probably gonna be some philosophies that kind of get mixed together. And you have, you know, the call of duty guy saying hey, we did things this when it worked for us. That's just kind of going to happen naturally. But I mean EA also brought in the guy that like ran call of duty at Activision. It's a story that came out like back in June or July or something like that Byron Bead I think is his name, And he went from you know, Activision overseeing call of duty, and I think he before that he or saw Destiny and then in twenty nineteen or no, no, it was no earlier this year. Earlier this year he left and went to join EA to oversee battlefield. And I think that might be part of some of the management that like DICE is like rubbing up against. But really, I don't think this is anything about Again, I don't think this is too much about like changing the way DICE works necessarily and more about like the overall strategy of how to get the most out of Battlefield. So you know, we already know they're making a Battlefield mobile game, right, So it's that sort of thing where Call Duty has a mobile game, we want to have a Battlefield mobile game that's very similar that has at the same sort of success that that makes a lot of money. How can we sort of saturate all of the possible markets with Battlefield? I think that's the kind of thing that Byron Bead is over seen. Now does that mean that like Dice has the full confidence of EA in the same way that Respawn does, And is that maybe where the tension is. I think that's exactly where the albums are at Dice, where you know, you look at EA and respond does have a lot of confidence within EA, and so they are they have the freedom to do what they want. And that's the sort of thing that is at stake here for Dice, where if they if they if they don't deliver with twenty forty two, or if or if the things that work are the things that like sort of were mandated by EA. You could see a situation where EA's gonna say, Okay, Dice, you've had a lot of talent leave You've had you know, you've had a couple of misses and a couple of opportunities. Like things have gone sort of sideways on you a couple of times now, whether that whether that's with Battle with the Star Wars battle Field game I can't remember the name of that, or with you know, Battlefield five and the marketing there and then the final product, which was kind of fizzled very quickly. Why don't you just let us sort of come in and say, hey, here is what Dice should be doing. Uh, coming down from EA Corporate and saying hey, this is this is it. And that's something that probably has always been a consideration. But previously one of the executives at YEA was Patrick Soderland, one of the founders of Dice, and he became like a you know, one of the top dogs at EA and was probably served as something of like a buffer where he could say, yeah, let me go talk to Dice. I had a relationship, I have a relationship with them. Let me go talk to them and you know, enable them to you know, or empower them to do what they're best at. That he's gone, he's at embarks studios now he found at Embark Studios in Sweden. And so it seems like what's at risk for Dice here is that autonomy. And I don't think they're not gonna shut down Dice. They're not, And there's probably not gonna be a ton of layoffs or anything like that. It's probably just a matter of just Dice to get get to decide decide its own future, or is it gonna have to get sort of remolded in the image of something like respawn, uh and in the pro kind of get taken away and have been overseen by EA. That all that's really possible. Let's see if there's anything else here that I wrote down in my notes that I wanted to talk talk about. We touched on most of the stuff. Basically, it's just I'm not like like what we say, Like we talk about call of duty versus battlefield all all the time, and it seems very obvious that if you are battlefield, you are going to take some inspirations from call of duty and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Now. I know fans will be like, no, we want battlefield to be battlefield, but Dice is struggled with that as well. I mean to figure out what that is, and they want as big an audience as possible. And even when Battlefield is battlefield, you know, one game will sell the next one won't sell as much. I don't know. I'm not going to pretend to be an expert on like what Dice needs to what's what Dice needs to do to succeed here? But it doesn't seem that all that harmful if you're taking ideas from other game studios and other games, that really works. So yeah, okay that Disney and Lucasfilm have something like the Days of Bounty or something like that, Bounty Hunter Days. Basically, it's like a holiday sort of calendar where something's gonna happen every day where they get to announce a new product for you to buy. I'm not getting you anything except for an opportunity to pay them money. And on one of those days they are going to announce something video game related. It doesn't it doesn't say much more than that. Really, it doesn't even say video game related. There's just a picture of a controller, a video game controller, And so I think people are taking that and say, Okay, you know this is going to be a new video game and we don't necessarily know that that's the case. I'll say for sure, it is not Jedi Fallen Order to I checked, it's not Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order too. To me, it seems like it's also possibly you know, show stop to my kid and now she's gonna freak out. It's it's probably not even like the Ubisoft game. I guess it could be something like that, or the h or the Quantic Dream game, something like along those lines. But I would be surprised. One of the reasons for that it's happening a week after the Game Awards, And why if you have a big game like that, why wouldn't you just bring that to the Game Awards. I guess again, maybe maybe I'm just misreading that. To me, I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high. I am expecting something more along the lines of a mobile game or something like that. Okay, let's see. So, yeah, it's not Jeni Fallone Order to then what what is it's. I think there's a chance maybe it's just like some more gameplay from you know, they're calling it debuts. There's a new debut each day, and I think we could you could read into that and say it's a debut of something a completely new game. That's not you know, it could just be a new gameplay of a game we already know about. I would hope that's not what they're doing. But I just again, I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high. But we've talked about this before. There's a lot of Star Wars projects in the works at least in discussion phases that stuff could have could be, you know, speeding up enough that they have something to talk about here. And even if this isn't something major, you know, all those science continue to point to a lot of things happening with the Star Wars license, and so if this one disappoints, the next time we might hear about something that's big and interesting and fun. You know, we're starting to hear about a lot of Star Wars stuff stuff now. We do know about the Ubi Stuft and the Quantic Dream stuff, and we know Jedi Phone Order two is in the works, and they might get back to battle Front there. I remember the name, So yeah, we'll see. I'm just trying not to get my hopes up too high to expect like Star Wars thirteen thirteen is probably not coming back here. Basically, it's what I'm trying to say. Jazz Cordon over at Window Central talked about avowed it sounds like the Fantasy spitoff of the Outer Wilds or out of Worlds. Jesus, I did that again, huh? I am. I'm pretty excited about this, and I'm pretty sure that this is still gonna come out in twenty twenty three, at least that's what they're targeting right now. It's a combination of Pillars of Eternity and the Outer Worlds makes a lot of sense for them. This is a game where they're gonna They've been spending a lot of time on it, but this is a busy studio, and yet I think they are well into production of the game. I think they said something like our Jess Gordon said something like they're in pre production, but pre production in video games can be kind of misleading in terms of what what does that mean. I think it just means they decided what the game is going to be, and now everyone could just get to like full time work on completing the project and actually getting it into a place where a twenty twenty three release is possible. Now, twenty twenty three is tentative. Again, like this is like internal targets. This is hopeful. They hope they're going to get to a place where, h you know, if everything goes smoothly, they can release it that year. But we'll see if they can actually deliver on that. You know, a lot of stuff can happen between now and then, and any one of these games, including this one, could get pushed into twenty twenty four. And then finally, let's see here, Dragon Age four is a next gen only game, and I feel like that shouldn't be very surprising, but there is someone on their LinkedIn account was saying, hey, I'm working on Dragon Age four, and then in parentheses its says like four PS five, Xbox Series X and S and PC and no mention of last gen consoles. Now again that I think everyone would assume that was going to be the case, but like this is confirmation. And then separately, I've been able to confirm yes, that it's definitely the case. That's the plan. They are just going to make this game for the new generation of consoles and PC. So no cross gen here, EA is you know byware at least is officially moving on from from cross and all their games going forward should be just for these new consoles that is, And again that sounds right, that sounds like the right move. You want to take full advantage of the new hardware and you know, a byware game that can use the new like CPUs and maybe have a more complex AI or something like that, or do you just do something with the extra power of the CPUs that would be very exciting. I think that's the right move and hopefully that means we get something that looks especially feels really next gen in terms of you know, simulations and the quality of the world or whatever. So yeah, uh yeah, like yeah, Dragon Age Inquisition was on it was a cross gen game, right because it came out early in the last generation and that was Yeah, it was a mess on the last generic Like, it just doesn't make sense going that much for like, we are going to get Dragon Age four and in the next few years, next couple of years, But that doesn't mean that they want to necessarily hold that game back, and that that is you know, I know there's a lot of conversation around like do cross cross gen versions hold games back maybe in terms of scope, but really what happens is and we've seen this repeatedly, is resources developers trying to get the game working on the last generation. That's where a lot of headaches happen. That's where a lot of delays happen. Battlefield definitely having those issues where yeah, you know, the beta was you know, bit rocky, but if it was like if you're playing the last gen version right even still, it's probably pretty troublesome. And and so yeah, just let's for a big multiplayer game. It makes sense for a big Marquee BioWare RPG, though, I think they can happily move on. Okay, all right, yeah, ray tracing powered AI. It's this infinite skeptics, that's right. We want all our AI to be rays of light shooting in our in our eyeballs. That's what we want. Okay, That's that's all I brought. But there's there's opportunities to ask a question now, and I see a lot of them. Let's let's go ahead and go to those questions right now and start answering them. Very excited about this, and again, do you want to ask a question? Hit that ask a question button at the top of the page. Uh from Slaine mccawesome. What game has the most good looking snacks? So, like the best looking food I would assume. I mean, I think Monster Hunter is kind of the easy pick there. Those cats make some delicious looking food. Best part of those games Monster Hunter World, at least, I haven't played many of the others I played. I played the demo Rise for like twenty minutes, and but yeah, in Monster under the World, that food looked fantastic. There's some other games to have some good food. I like some wal meat from Castlevania, so that looks pretty tasty. I would love to hunch of wall and just get a whole roasted chicken. It reminds me of a time I went to a restaurant with my family many years ago, and the men you just had whole chicken on it, and I thought it meant like whole, as in wholesome or like healthy, Like you go to Whole Foods and not every food at Whole Foods is an entire thing. So I ordered the whole chicken and they bring on a plate and it's just an entire chicken, just for me, And I was like fifteen, and then I think when I got done with that meal, Sam Raimi was at that restaurant. I might have told that story before, but yeah, so yeah, some wal meat in Castlevania is the best looking snack, all right? From Eric Stiffer zero five. What steps is Nintendo taking to ensure forward compatibility for their games? Is this the council that's going to be where where they start doing the work to keep people's digital libraries with them going forward? It seems silly to me to keep doing the work too, and it cuts off there. But let's talk about the a little bit. So Nate the Hate podcast had some pretty good information about kind of what Nintendo's thinking in terms of hardware going forward and how that switch pro which I've never been able to confirm other than to say the rumblings I heard were always twenty twenty two. That's the one thing I've I've ever said like that that I've got that was like on the record and was able to report, but I never was able to like confirm it myself other than hey, someone heard maybe something in twenty twenty two. But other than that, like in that reporting from Nate the Hate, it sounds like the I got on my phone, man, That's what hell of the show right now, it sounds like Nintendo is going to have some troubles with backward compatibilities, specifically, specifically because the Tegger chips that in video might be using going forward are not using the same codebase as the X one which is in the switch right now, and so every game would have to be patched in order to run natively on the next generation of switch, whether that is a Switch pro or a Switch too. Right now, it does feel like we are leaning more towards a Switch two, but it's gonna be depended. It's gonna a lot of that's gonna depend on how they phrase that, like is like is the iPad two or iPad three? Is that a whole different generation? We'll know because they keep the backward compatibility there. The problem is Nintendo's gonna have some issues with that. So what do they do well, I mean they've done They've had issues like this before, right and and with the Game Boy, the Game Boy Advance and the DS and the three DS. The way they solve this usually is just put the old hardware and the new hardware. And so the X one might show up inside of the switch too, which I guess we're gonna call it the Switch two now instead of the Switch pro. We'll see, but yeah, I think that would be like the most likely solution. I don't know if Nintendo would love that. I think Nvidio would try to make sure that if that's what Nintendo wants to do, that they make it viable and affordable and make it make a lot of sense. That's not their only option. There are some other ways around this, but I think the thing that's's it seems like crazy. It seems wild that Nintendo would not support backward compatibility going forward with the Switch, especially if it's like another hybrid console. Like they're not going to call it a different name, right, They're gonna just call it keep calling out the Switch. I would assume like they're gonna call it some version of the Switch, but that marketing name. I guess they did that with the WU and that didn't work out too well. But I would still assume that the next thing is going to just build on what the Switch is done. And if you are a Switch owner and you have a lot of digital games, and you see like okay, and none of your games are gonna like that just seems like it's impossible. Now it's Nintendo so it's not out of the realm of possibility, but because Nintendo will do weird things and make moves that aren't optimal, but it does. It does seem like now is the time to figure it out to ensure these games run. Going for it, absolutely, but to speak like you know what people are always like. People are very skeptical of the switch pro idea right now, and I don't blame anybody for that after hearing so much about it for so many years. But still, if Nintendo does not do a switch pro, if they go to a switch to instead, this will be the first time that Nintendo has had at one of its handheld console. Now, yeah, this one is it's another handheld console. You can handhold it and play video games on it. It would be the first time that they have not done a pro upgrade for their their handouts. There was the game Boy Color, there was the DSi, there was the three DS, the Game Boy I guess game Boy Advance did not have Okay, so maybe game boyd Vance, so it wouldn't be the first time. But I guess the sp was just so much different. But I guess that's just form factors. So now that wouldn't be the first time. It's still it seems unlikely to me. It's something that that they it's a move that they go to. But maybe we're just in a situation right now where they don't need it. The switch OLED is going to sell very well. It does feel like a significant upgrade. Maybe it does feel like equivalent to the SP in terms of getting that excitement and and and it's going to accomplish what Nintendo wants it wants it to accomplish, which is boost sales for a system that is already selling well, to ensure that they have something kind of new and fresh to sell through it into next year. And then they can reassess and say, hey, we could fork this towards a switch pro. But right now it does feel like they are going down the other fork, which is, let's take the work we've done for that, which is implementing DLSS or whatever, and push towards a full switch successor and then figure out the marketing around that. Do we just say it's an iPad pro sort of thing where hey, all your stuff's going to continue forward. You know, if you are on the old switch, we'll keep supporting you for like one more generation. Like you know, a couple more years, but then we're gonna start leaving you behind as we do like the switch to pro. Basically, what I'm saying is, uh, for the rest of your life, you will never not be talking about switch pro rumors because it's either going to be a switch pro or Switch two pro or Switch three pro. Like it's just for the rest of our lives. That's where we're gonna be talking about. All right. Let's see from Nylock, was reset Era purchased for its ability to generate ad revenue or for the user data? I would say probably a little bit of both. But user data is you kind of can't understate that stuff. Have you noticed how every single like credit card company is now getting into that honey space, like that that honey app that you put on your browser and you try and like it gives you a chance to have like interer cupon codes when you're purchasing something. That's what they could track what you're buying. That's why it's free, that's why it works. Now Internet Microsoft Edge has that built in, so Microsoft is doing that. Capital One has something now. I think I've seen advertisements for it where that Yeah, user data basically is very very valuable. That stuff you cannot overstand. Now, what kind of user data can you glean off of something like reset Era? I don't I think there's maybe some like sentiment tracking you could do that would be valuable that you could sell to companies. I don't know. There's people are not necessarily giving a lot of like they're purchasing like they're accurate purchasing data through reset Era. So I'm not sure exactly what data would be very valuable there, but I'm just saying that I would not discount that as a possibility. From Tom Paine, is Spider Man ever coming to PC? What about Ghost of Sushima? But my money right now is on both of those eventually coming to PC. Jim Ryan did that interview where he kind of talked about how we want games that sell ten million copies on PlayStation to start selling one hundred million copies, and he basically just said, we know that means we need to expand beyond the confines of PlayStation, you know, And that's let's like big talk, right, that's big talk about like where where PlayStation games can get to and they're not going to get there by like holding all of their like holding certain things back from PC. Now, maybe there's some licensing stuff that would prevent Spider Man from going on the PC, but I doubt that because wouldn't my Marvel just be like, yeah, you want to take it the PC and we can have another paid day. Sure, absolutely, let's go do that. Ghost of Sushima, though differently, will come to PC Like that just seems one hundred percent they'll get to that point. I'm sure that Sucker Punch is looking at ghost Sushima two, so it's right now Sony will probably fall follow the path of when it's time to start talking about ghosts of Sushima two, we will put Sushima one on PC and get that marketing boost that's worked with Horizon. You know, it's gonna work with God of War. You know. I think God of War's coming to PC eventually as well. Yeah, and they'll two. Yeah, they'll get to this point. Spider Man's the big question mark, but I still think it will come. I wouldn't be surprised if, like, so, we're getting Uncharted next, then God of War and then Spider Man. I think that would make a lot of sense. Honestly, Ghost of Sushima would make sense to from vector the from vector, the angel jumping in while at work? What's going on with Little Devil Inside? Showed up at a PlayStation showcase in January? Then nothing, developer doesn't have any social media presence, and the original kickstarter hasn't been updated in a while, and then back to work, Yeah, get the work vector. Uh yeah, this is a weird one. I've looked into this a little bit. I haven't found much, but they they've basically stopped communicating anything. And we were supposed, I think were supposed to hear something about it a few months ago. And yeah, I don't know much to tell you. I'm sorry. I'll keep looking into it, but it is a weird thing where there's a kickstarter people, you know, people were promoting or people helped fund the game, and then Sony was talking about it at a at a showcase, and now where is it? Where it has it? What's happened since then? No one knows. It's just gone completely dark. I would not necessarily try to read into the I wouldn't read into that with like the least generous interpretation and assume that everything's gone wrong. You know, there are other reasons why you are working on a game you want to stay quiet, and you're gonna just you know, save everything for the next big beat when you're ready to talk about the game. And I'm sure there's been some issues with COVID and all this other stuff, so I want to kind of give it the benefit of the doubt before we start coming up with any conspiracy theories or anything like that. From casual Dear senior snacks, what's your favorite thing about where you live? Also? Which of these sounds better? Mike Musquozie or Miss squoz and blasts we schoo's in blast It's pretty good. I think someone might have made that trip during the thing, so I don't like yeah, but still, yeah, very good. Let's see, Yeah, what's the what's my favorite thing about where I live? So? I live in Colorado and I like the weather. It's very nice here. There was a lie one hundred years ago that there's three hundred days of sunshine, and I recently found out that was a lie. That was just like something someone made up to try to get people to move here to help dig for silver or something like that. But there are a lot of days of sunshine. And I'm not even someone who necessarily is like, oh, I need sunshine or else I'm gonna be grumpy all the time. I like cloudy days and stuff like that. But the thing is, like, when we get cloudy days here, the sky is always so interesting because the mountains mess up the you know, how the clouds come in, and so every day looks different. You know, you gonna honestly look up at the sky in an hour later, look up and it'll just be completely different. A lot of cool atmospheric stuff happening. And then when it snows, and I love the snow. I love the snow. It's my favorite. I love it when it's snow, love it when it is snowing. I love it when there's snow on the ground. I love to go snowboarding. I like to be take my kids out to go play in the snow, make snow and all the stuff. I like to be inside while snow is outside and I look out the window, I'm like, oh, that looks cozy. I'm going to turn on our fireplace, put on some music, and read a book, you know, for the five minutes before my kids jump all over me and ruin my book. But yeah, I love all that stuff. And then the best part of that is because Colorado is so sunny. The next day after it snows, the snow will still be there on the ground, on the grass, but on the streets where you're driving it melts almost instantly. The next day snow is almost always gone, so you get the snow without a lot of the slush that we had in Ohio and Michigan where I'm originally from, and that's nice. The slush is disgusting, but it's not a problem here. It really isn't. It's just like you know all those movies that you've seen, like that take place in Aspen where it just looks like bright and crisp and the snow looks so nice. That's real and I really like that stuff. And then also I do like go into the mountains. It's just like right there. I just go right over there, and I'm in the mountains and someone was asking me, Hey, I'm gonna be in Colorado. You recommend anything for families that YMCA of the Rockies and Rocky Mountain National Park. There's just so much cool stuff to do out there, and I really do enjoy that, and that YMC of the Rockies. Don't knock it before you try it. Google it, It's an incredible place for families. If you're ever out here, I really do highly recommend it. Did you remember to a mute yourself? Oh? God, how long have I been doing this? Now? Yeah? We're good, We're good. I could see the bar right there. All right, buck bucket, butter, bucket, butter? All right? Good name? Any ideas if there will be a Code Vein sequel? I think it was one of the better Souls lakes to come out in recent times. I do not know. I would assume, so that's where I'm at with that. I don't know, but I would assume. So it seems like it's sold pretty good for a new ip in that soul? Uh Doug Foot? Will the Star Wars game News Slash announcement schedule for December fourteenth be the release date for Star Wars Hunters or maybe something more interesting? Am I out of touch? Thinking they might do a game Awards tease followed up followed up by a full trailer a few days later. I think that's possible, but I don't know. If I don't know, if they do Keeley Dirty like that, And also, if you're gonna announce something right then the game Awards is the place to do it, you don't. I don't know. If you tease it and then and then talk about it off the Game Awards, you if you're ready, go with the Game Awards. The Game Awards has a huge audience. It's it's really successful in terms of announcing stuff, especially in December. There's nothing else really to do that. I guess maybe PSX has been pretty good, but even PSX doesn't have the audience I think that the Game Awards has. And we don't even know if there is going to be a PSX this year, so I don't know. I'm just skeptical that this is going to be like something that was if it was big enough for the Game Awards, excuse me, it would be at the Game Awards. It's kind of where I'm at with it. But I could just be misreading it. Like I said, I don't think it's anything from EA. It's from what I'm hearing, it's not really anything from any of the other big publishers. But I could be wrong. We'll see. I'm again. My recommendation is let's keep our our expectations in check there and if it's something that is awesome, then we can all be happy. About that, But otherwise I think, let's really I want them to be like announcing smaller games because I want to get a lot of Star Wars games. I think I've probably mentioned this stuff before, but it would be much better if they are in a situation where they're just making as many Star Wars games as possible. And if that means a weird free to play mobile and switch game from Zinga, yeah, let's get that out of the way. But then what's next. Is there another one of those? Or is there something like a you know, a small indie RPG that looks kind of like two d Ish and looks small and affordable for like in terms of a project that an indie team could take on, but me maybe it has some cool ideas. Just throw a million of those at us, just do everything Star Wars and until something sticks. Really that's what they should be doing. So if it's something small, maybe it's still pretty cool. From m Rurig. Realistically, do Stalk or two hit that it hit its April release date? So far there's only been one trailer for it, and I'd love to see some extended gameplay Or am I just getting antsy or I'm right there? With you in terms of stalk or two where I am just not. People saw that trailer and they're just like, man, that looks awesome. I can't. I think it's gonna be one of the biggest games next year, and I'm just like, man, I am skeptical because I want to just kind of see someone play in the game and see what it looks like in terms of that, and like, it feels like the kind of thing where, you know, I don't want to jinx it or anything, but it could be like a cyberpunk situation where we see something that was like very well polished in terms of its presentation at an awards show or something like that, or at an E three or something like that, and then we finally get our hands on it, and all the stuff that we assumed would be stitching these missions together, and the world that we assumed would be dynamic and interesting, all that stuff didn't really play out how they promised, and so I'm just I'm also skeptical of where this game is at. I want to just see someone sitting down with a controller playing it, run me through a mission, show me how it really works. And I guess they did that with Cyberpunk right in front of me at E three, and I was pretty excited about that, So what the hell do I know? But yeah, I'm hopeful, but I am not getting my hopes up too high for this one because I just want to see more of it before we really do. And maybe maybe that's lessons learned from something like Cyberpunk. Let's see from Bane fire Lord, any info on what's going on with Weird Wests supposed twenty twenty one release. I think you mentioned you were going to look into it a few weeks back. I think, yeah, I think I have it on my list, and I still haven't heard anything, So I'll keep looking and see what I can find. Sometimes that's just how it goes. Where you know, you want to find out the answers to this stuff, and the people that are are reliable, uh, don't have any good way of helping you track down that stuff, so you have to like build new connections, and that takes time. So I'll see what I could do. From Dude a Long couch, what things can we do to support workers rights and better working conditions for the game developers who make the things we love. Devs don't don't seem to like boycott since they have bonuses tied to sales, And yeah, boycott's aren't the only aren't your only means? Boycotts are like the thing you do when you have no other recourse. And when when like when your workers in a toxic workplace, or if they are being harassed or something like that, or if a woman's being paid less for the same job as a man. All of those things are illegal. They're just illegal. And what you can do is, you know, it's not the only thing you do. You can vote, but you could also call up your your you know, your state senator and stuff, say hey, I would really like to encourage you to have our regulatory bodies in this state look into this company because of the reports here and here, you know, just go in there, investigate, find out what happened, and if there has been violations of someone's civil rights, please just you know, take that to its natural conclusion. These things are illegal, and we shouldn't we shouldn't have to do it ourselves. This is something I've talked about many times where the idea that you need to vote with your wallet to get anything done is a trick of capitalism. It is a trick of corporations making you think that, oh, yeah, we're listening to you about how you spend money. And meanwhile, if you stop spending money on them, they will find another way to make that work. There's always someone out there that's too busy to pay attention and boycott like just boycott's don't work very often. It's very difficult to get there. To build that momentum, you have to be very focused, you have to be very very specifically, like they occasionally work to like get someone canceled off the air if they've said something racist or something like that, and you cancel, like you go call up all their advertisers or something like that. But even that is almost direct action. If you are calling up advertisers and saying, hey, stop supporting this this this hate with a company that like sells a product, it's it's a little bit more challenging. And so what we should be doing is building a society where these things are, these things that we've already decided are illegal and our violations of people's civil rights, they are then treated as thus and we see action taken by strong, well funded regulatory bodies. And I think there's definitely that that's what's happening in California a little bit, and hopefully we can see that happen in more states. And really we would like to see it happen on the federal level, I would think. But you know, so again, where's the power? Like lie with you? Yeah, you have to. It really comes down to pick it up the phone and calling you know, the people in power that could do something about this. And then you know, if you are in a state where the no one in power cares about people and the people doing work, then you know there's not much recourse there. And I'm sorry about that. But yeah. From Vin's diviner, Visnander from Viz regarding a question two weeks ago asking if rhythm games are dead. They never died in Japan arcades even Konami kept making them. But for the rest of us, they are thriving on mobile and tablets. Plastic instruments may be dead, but rhythm games are forever. Yeah, that's not too surprising. That makes some sense. I just I just want another elite beat agents. Really, that's what it is. Is there an elite beat agents like on mobile that I should know about. If anyone knows that, let me know. From ets which sports game will be the first with in game NFTs. God, that's gotta be coming. It's probably NBA two K. Uh. Yeah, I think the obvious one would be FIFA, but I'm going with NBA two K. Two K would definitely do that. I guess I'm trying. Maybe Strauss' Selnick is a little bit more skeptical of that stuff than I'm giving him credit for, because he's definitely talked about how like how how he's so cynical about people to come out and use but buzz where it's like the metaverse, and he's like, that's some bullshit. So Strauss sell Nick's like definitely seems a little bit more hip to how these things are kind of fads and investing them might be a bad idea if it all breaks bad or whatever. But NBA two K is just so saturated with in game purchases and stuff like that that it just seems like the kind of thing that they would do. Uh from Tokoto, what do you want from Metroid Prime four? That's a that's a good question, because I I love Metroid Prime one, Metro Prime two. Echos I never finished because I just bounced off. I think it was too oppressive and not as I don't know, just not as rewarding as Metro Prime one. I never played Metroid Prime three, so I need to actually do that still. But I love Metroid Prime one. It's one of my favorite games of all time, and so really I think what they need to do is just sort of spruce up that concept a little bit. The Metroidvania. The two D Metroidvania is thriving. We are getting a few more like three D sort of you know, open expiration Metroid Vania games, Star Wars, Jedi Fall in order, I guess you know, Batman Arkham Asylum ten years ago, twelve years ago now or something like that. But yeah, the concept works, so just kind of, yeah, like I said, spruce it up and really focus, I think on that pacing of delivering new abilities. And we've come a long way in terms of how could characters control in first person? Uh, definitely look at that and look at ways to look at like Titan Fall two and the things that they did with like movement and look emotion in that game, and turn those into some power ups that I can unlock on Metroid Prime one. And I think you're half way there to be in like this is a worthy successor to Metroid Prime from lesandis what's going on with About? We talked about that a little bit. But again, like I will say that that reporting from Jess Gordon is accurate. He's definitely seen it. People at Obsidian not too happy. They are pretty frustrated that that get out there. That's the business though, That's how it goes. But yeah, it sounds like it's progressing. It sounds like so if you're asking, like, what's going on with about in terms of that reporting, uh, you know, not much more to add. But if you haven't read that, go go read that and go see what he's saying over there, because it's Yeah, it sounds like a pretty promising game. Honestly, it just sounds like Obsidian doing their own Skyrim, doing their own Elder Scrolls, but with you know, a focus on what they do best in terms of those RPG elements. Well, while like but as the game Studios is maybe moving in a direction of doing stuff that is like beyond the RPG scope City and is definitely gonna stick to its RPG corps, stick to its you know, you know, conversational gameplay style and about it's going to be that more of that for Black Card Vinyl, not to steal too much of special Knicks Thunder, but do you know anything about Killer Instinct stuff? He may or may not be teasing. I don't know if what If he's got something new, I'll just say that I like him. I've heard that Microsoft is interested in doing it, and then the reason they haven't yet is because they're struggling to find a developer. I think that Iron Galaxy was something they might have considered, but Iron Galaxy is very busy doing a lot of stuff. I think they just announced the new project recently, very busy, so I don't know if they would have the bandwidth. I've talked about that before for sure as well. So if there's something new that's happened there, I haven't heard it, but I haven't been looking either. From sig Trains, Hi, Jeff, do you think the Need for Speed franchise every gets abandoned by EA? They bumped Criterion over to Battlefield twenty forty two, and now they have code masters to make racing games. If the next one isn't well liked, do they scrap it or keep trying? Need for Speed is enough of a brand name and enough of a powerful ip that I think they stick with it, and if anything, they maybe stop making some of those Code Master games and make those studios make Need for Speed instead. Need for Speed is I think I learned this, and like with the l when the last game came out, there is like an audience out there that is just like need for Speed gamers. That's what they're into. And that's why we stopped getting Burnout because Burnout didn't have that didn't have that same cachet in terms of like with me, it does with I think with a lot of you, it certainly does. But there is a mass audience out there that is interested in need for Speed that grew up on need for Speed games on PlayStation and PlayStation two and and then you know GameCube or whatever, and they are they're continuously looking for new When a new one gets announced, they're very into it. And you kind of can't buy that sort of loyalty or buy that sort of interest. So EA's going to continue to want to capitalize on that need for speed. Going away seems very unlikely. I feel like it was gonna go away, it would have done so already, right, But they keep making them so I think they're gonna and I do think they're gonna keep making them. Let's see from Ludar Jennings. Do you think that they know a surprise with how how well Metroid is selling. Maybe to a certain extent, but I don't think they're too surprised. They definitely seemed like they knew this was an opportunity. They treated it like a big deal. In terms of marketing, there was a lot. They talked about it NonStop. They marketed it more than many of their other games this year. Maybe that's just the machine. Maybe there's just like we have marketing, you know, we have marketing efforts, or we have a you know, teams ready to go, can we put them on Well, this is the biggest game coming up. Get them to work on this. Maybe it's just like that's how it works. But I still think they were confident that if they pushed it, if they combined it with the O LED, it would get the switch effect and this could be its breakout moment. Nintendo understands the stuff better than any of us. Do they know that there's a chances to bring these games back and get them an audience then and then have a fire Ebom awakening, moment a fire, Embom awakening and awakening. So yeah, I don't know if they're too surprised. I think that the game might even outperform their expectations. But maybe maybe it's also right online. I think, you know, what I want to see is a little bit more information. I know it's selling, will it? Clearly? It clearly is, But is this going to be the game that like surpasses three million copies sold? No Metroid has ever done that before. I mean, I certainly think so, but just based on that UK data, I'm not I'm not like taking that and like running too. The bank UK is not a mass of mess. They spend a lot of money on games they do, but it's not like you're gonna sell a million copies just in the UK alone. And even then even if you were, the game is selling a slower in the UK than Pokemon Snapped It and Pokemon snapps not at like three million copies sold. So that's just one market. It's good news that it's the fastest selling Metroid game ever there. Absolutely that is crucial, but we still need to wait and see how it's doing in other territories. That said, just like anecdotally, I do turn on my switch. I looked at I look at my friends list over the weekend, and there's like twenty people playing it, and that just does not happen with games that that fizzle out. That's like that was like how Luigi's Mansion three looked. I don't think this is going to be a Luigi's Mansion three type success ten million copies sold, but it's probably going to be pretty pretty good. Though from Beef Stew, does Sony really not understand the value of Game Pass compared to their offering. I've always been a PS player and have both next Gen councils, but find it hard to want to play PS five, So I don't think that's necessarily how. I don't think they don't understand it. They totally understand it. They're just in a situation where they need to do what they're best at to compete Sony. Trying to copy game Pass is only gonna It's not gonna work out very well, at least not right now. They're getting They're trying to get a position where if if they do want ever want to go in that direction, they'll be fine. If they decide to put every first party game on their PS now right away. That would that's the years off that That's not their strategy. Their strategy is to keep being Sony and that is how they'll compete with game Pass. And it's working. It's working, so there's no reason to really change it too much. Now. I say it's working, but we do hear Jim Ryan explicitly say it could be working better. It's working very well. They're making a lot of money. They could be making a lot more money. And the evidence for that is Nintendo you know games. I mean, he says they want these games to sell one hundred million copies. You know that good. I want to see him try. I want to see what that looks like. It's definitely the same language that Microsoft is. Usually there's two billion gamers out there, we need to be reaching out to them. Microsoft Games also are not selling one hundred million copies yet though, or even getting one hundred million players. That's just not happening. But Animal Crossing and Mario Kart eight Deluxe they are selling thirty million copies, So like, how do you get at least get to that level? How do you get to there? And maybe they're thinking, like PS now is maybe some solution, But to me, I think that they are going to look toward being even more sony than ever, even if that means in terms of like the kinds of games they make. They just want to make games that look so big budget and so polished that you just couldn't get him from anywhere else. And when youever you see that PS Studios logo, you're just gonna associate it with really blockbuster budgets. And then if that stuff starts coming to PC, I think they're just hoping that they're all that will be additive. And that's their strategy right now is just keep doing that stuff and then maybe expand onto a new platform, see how that goes, and take it from there. So you know, they understand, they understand what game pass is. They understand they are totally responding to game Pass. It's just they are responding to game Pass by explicitly not doing what game Pass is doing because they just would not work for them in the same way. They don't have the same They have a lot of money to spend on stuff, but but they don't have the endless money like you know what. I've heard some numbers thrown around that I can't confirm for like what Sony is willing to spend on acquisitions right now, and maybe like third party publishing deals, uh, you know, I'm sorry, first party publishing deals with third party studios. It's a lot of money. And but that Sony's gonna borrow that money. That's how that's gonna work. Microsoft has most of that money just in the bank and it wants to get that money off its books. But borrowing money is also still pretty cheap right now. And and so I think that Sony's just like, hey, we we it's you know, capital is cheap. Let's spend that money to get some of these studios, and we're gonna put those studios to work on the stuff that Sony does well and not necessarily try to make a huge PlayStation now competitive game pass. We could not sustain that while we can, but it we can borrow money now, and we can make some acquisitions. Like we're gonna make those bets, and we're gonna place them on stuff that we know we're good at, and bets that are likely to get the return that we are expecting that we know that we can accomplish, and not on something we're like, okay, we're gonna have to spend years trying to build ps now into something that compete with game Pass now, and not that ps now is like ps now is eight hundred games or whatever and all that stuff. I just mean, like Microsoft, there's a clear pipeline for how to keep games coming to game Pass for years and years. It hasn't happened much yet, but the future is looking bright in terms of that content pipeline. Sony is like has a lot of games, has a lot of studios. For a long time, had way more studios and way more developers than Microsoft. But it's slowly kind of like falling behind in that stuff. And while it's acquiring stuff right now again that's just going to be used to do more Sony PlayStation style games and not to try to make a million games for PlayStation now. It doesn't make sense for Sony From pan Zick Pujaron, can you ever see Sega making a new jet set radio game? Between games like Hover and Bomb Rush coming out and getting announced, it seems like there's enough interest from fans to warrant a new game. There's definitely talks about that, So Sega set as much where like, hey, we have these classic franchises that people love. We are going to do more stuff with those franchises. And then I think it named jet Set Radio by name when it was talking about that, So I think it's likely that we'll see something new from that franchise. I think they could probably like bring in like a like an external studio, kind of do something with a moderate budget, even do something like along the lines of Monkey Ball Banani Media. Just do something like that where you're like, yeah, it's still basically the same game modernized here and there, but basically which you want to sell a new jet Set Radio game and uh and take and let people just kind of get back in that world and then if it does well, we'll build on it from there, I think, and I think that's the plan from Doctor Pow. Any likelihood that Capcom would make an original game in the style of Resoneval two, Resideval three remake or is the focus on remaking pass games and first person games like Resideval seven and Resonate Evil eight. I I think that they'll they'll get to a point where they need to remix the like the strategy right where right now, this cadence of Resonaval to third person remake and then you know, Resionuval seven or they made it was the other way. But you know, bouncing back with forth between the first person new style Resideval games and the third person remake Resideval style games. It's working very well for them. They are going to exhaust their options there first, and then once they start to see like the the you know that the curves start to come down on the other side, you know, and excel, they'll say, Okay, we need to mix things up. How do we get people excited again? And I think at that point you say, here's a new third person Resident Evil game that looks a lot like Resie Evil to remake, but it's completely new and a new a new place. Don't worry. The first person stuff isn't going away. We are just going to find a new spot for it or whatever, or find a new way to develop that. And maybe the next game will be first person. And as they go forward, they're eventually gonna run out of stuff to remake, right They'll they'll they're gonna remake four, They'll probably do Code Veronica. They might even do something like Wild, like like the game Boy like game like remake Resivable Guidance or whatever that was, or Resivable zero start like going through that stuff, and they might do that stuff. It just depends on how well these things continue to sell. But they're going to run out, and when they do, they know that there's an audience for the third person residentbal games. They'll keep making them and they'll make new ones if they have to. From slightly James, do you think the news of big Metroid sales numbers on we U three ds this week might move forward any plans to get more of the series onto Switch. I mean, god, you hope so, right, But I don't know what really. I hope that like all of the confluence of the big sales on the WU and three ds, the sales of Metroid Dread itself, and then maybe hopefully the success of the Castlevania Advanced Collection just makes Nintendo go like, okay, we just need to do Game Boy Advanced Collection ourselves or whatever, do Metroid zero, Metroid Fusion, and then just I guess Super Metroid's already on there, so you would even need to do that. But and then yeah, or maybe you know, port Sama's returns as well. I don't know, we'll see. I think that I think that it's more likely now than it was even like a few weeks ago. But really they should have been doing this from the beginning. They spent a lot of money on marketing. There's kind of no better marketing than just having people play a Metro and game, and so if they were, like, if they were that interested in doing it, they probably would have done it by now. But you know, maybe or maybe they get into a situation where they're like, hey, Metroid dread sold very well, Metroid Prime four is coming down the line between now and then, we want to have a regular cadence of Metroid releases like we do with Zelda, and so what's going to be twenty twenty two Metroid game. We might get to that situation, and if we get there, maybe it is a collection of Metroid games. I still think, you know, we know, we know the Metroid Prime like remake remaster that is coming that that you know can confirm that, and it's coming next year. So that's probably the thing that's coming next year. And then if Metroid Prime four isn't even ready for twenty twenty three, entirely possible, maybe then they pop something in there. I would hope they would do it sooner than that. I hope they would just like say, hey, let's get as much Metroid on the switch as possible. But I don't think that's necessary a Nintendo's priority, all right. Bizarre hash asks a question, asks a question that I want the answer to. But I'll read it anyhow. Maybe we'll can maybe we'll shake something loose here. Any word on moss mouths UFO fifty. It's been quiet for a long time and the Steam page just says working on it for a release date. UFO fifty is the like collection of fifty sort of. It's like a fifty and one pack, but instead of being like cheap garbage like you would get back on the PC when you were a kid. It is made by Derek U and Derek U's friends, and Derek U is the creator of Spelunky, and it's but it's like a bunch of complete A NES style games basically, and it looks fantastic. It was announced years and years ago. My understanding was we were supposed to hear more about it this year. This year's coming to a close pretty quickly, so hopefully we do still hear something. But if it, you know, bounces in the next year. That would not be all that surprising. I would imagine that if you have fifty games, and I know like a lot of it was just like bringing in partners to work on it, that's got to be a little bit like hurting cats to a certain extent, that's got to be pretty difficult. And maybe it's more difficult than due to COVID. But yes, UFO fifty, I want that pretty badly. Hope we will. Hopefully we'll hear something soon. Maybe there's an event coming this year that will you know, get like this and Silk Song and you know, a sports story. We'll get all the stuff that we want from the indie developers out there, from Sikh Trains, three Fields Entertainment, dangerous golf, dangerous driving hasn't tweeted since April. Do you know if they're all right? I don't. I can reach out to them though, I have a pretty good, pretty good relationship with them in terms of like, you know, they would send me codes and I was I had about dangerous driving and all that stuff. So I'll reach out and see what they have to say. I wouldn't be surprised though, if you know they had to reorganize or restrategize in terms of like what they're going to do next, because I don't I don't know if any of those dangerous games were like huge breakout hits or anything, and maybe that wasn't enough to keep things going. Maybe some key talent went somewhere else. I'll look into it. From Bison Hero, if Metroid Prime four hadn't been delayed, would we have two Metroids out within a year of each other, or did dread only get greenlit fast tracked because Prime four development went so sideways. I mean, listen, we don't know. We couldn't say for sure things like things always changed, but I would say that if you look back at Metroid's past, there was a time when Metroid Prime and Metroid Fusion came out on the same day. They released them at the exact same time. I think that they think that two D Metroid and three Dmetroid can complement each other really well. I think they're right. It worked, I think for Metro Prime and Fusion. I think Metro Prime was the best selling Metroid game, and I think Fusion also benefited from from it as well, Like there was there was connectivity between the two and if you weren't around at that time. Connectivity was a buzzword from Miyamoto in terms of basically connecting your game boy advanced to your GameCube, and Metro Prime had that with Fusion. I don't know, maybe things. I think things have changed at Nintendo since two thousand two or whatever it was, where they probably wouldn't do that again. I think they if they had one game ready to go, they would do it this year, and then they would do another game next year and kind of spread it out like they have done with Zelda. Like we were just talking about from Alan McKinnon, how big of a deal is it that Dread was emulated basically on day one. Curs must seem to think it was significant, But my had the majority of switch owners aren't savvy enough to go down that rabbit hole anyway? Am I wrong? Genuinely? I don't. I was. I listened to I think that part of the bomb cast, what Grisman was saying, is that like, this stuff is unavoidable and there was just gonna be a situation where all the events lined up in such a way where people were going to talk about it and it was going to be a news story. I know a lot of people were mad at Kutaku and pc gamer for this stuff, for reporting on this. That's just news, baby. If it's newsworthy, it's newsworthy. And you can get mad at the messenger all you want, but they're not like they're just I mean, maybe you get mad at the phrasing or whatever, but it's just not worth it. It's news and it's gonna get talked about. I mean, it's it's somewhat significant, but this has been true for some other games in the past. I think there's just anxiety around Metroid Dread and because people want Metroid to sell, and so there's that side of it. And then the game did run very well on day one, which is not always the case. But it's like one of those games where I think it was meant to be very optimized on the switch, turns out those optimizations carried over to Uzu or whatever. You know. It's an inflection point in terms of when these things do line up, these stories do happen. It sort of jogs A lot of people say, oh, that stuff exists. But for the people for whom it is going to say, oh, I should go look into that are the people who probably don't have a switch and weren't going to buy the game anyhow, I think for the most part, I guess I could be making that up. That just feels like what it is. I would love to see data on this or whatever. We know that piracy and stuff can hurt these games. We know that piracy hurt the Vita and the Dreamcast. And I don't like we should never pretend like like piracy is like, oh, this this problem that doesn't have any real world consequences. It absolutely does. But at the same time, it's it was software. It is unavoidable. The history of video games is the history of piracy. You cannot take one out of the other. Uh. The reason Nintendo was so successful with the NES is because it had security on the any Unintendo on the on the NES, so it could control who could put games out on the on the NES that you know, it created the entire licensing model and all that came down to a security chip on the NES. It is they are so interlinked and before that, like you know that you know Atari, it's that there wasn't even piracy, but like there was piracy happening on all these platforms. But just like building security into these things is necessary and it creates the market itself. It enables software to be sold in such ways that people can make a living off of it. But then someone's always going to try to defeat that security because that's just that is what software is. So and when they do that, the news is going to talk about that. The media is going to report on that stuff. It's all a big cycle, and UH kind of can't get mad at it. At a certain point. You just sort of have to learn to adapt and live with it, especially if you are a company trying to make money selling software. And a lot of these companies have done exactly that, and they will and the savvy ones will continue to do so. And I'm not too worried about Nintendo basically, is what it comes down to. From j K Jeff, how do you expect PlayStations VR lineup to be different this gen? Are they going to push VR hard with big studios making games with PSVR two in mind thinks, I don't know. I think they'll probably kind of stick to what they were doing, which is, you know, paying partners to make some games, or at least paying partners to put their games on PlayStation VR for like a year exclusively. And but the like Naughty Dogs probably not gonna make a VR game. Naughty Dog doesn't didn't like make VIDA games. I think that's been the history of Sony and peripherals, right, or Sony and hardware outside of the core PlayStation holding a dual Shock slash dual Sense controller. It is okay, if you are the best teams, you are all gonna be making stuff just for this and everyone else. We're gonna get some like B teams in here to do all these other things, or we'll spend some money and bring in third party partners. And it worked really well for the PSVR in a way that like that stuff, you know, didn't really work for the Vida or whatever, not that they were paying partners to come in and do that for the Vita. But like the strategy worked enough that I think they'll just kind of keep going with it and then maybe a team will splinter off here or there and make some VR stuff. But I don't think for the most part, the biggest teams are going to keep making the biggest budget games that can appeal to the biggest audiences. It just is, it is what it is, like, those things kind of have to work that way for this business. To make sense for Sony from All the Dinos. Is there any additional info out about Possibility Space? When might we expect their first game? Apologies if you answered this later in the prepared section questions fill up fast. No, no worries. Did not talk about Possibility Space. Which is the new studio from I think Jeff Strain from Undead Labs Make Yourselves State of Decay. It's a distributed studio where where it's not remote, where there is no like central location. It's going to be people working remotely though around the world wherever they want. And they all have like kind of equals, say, and they're very focused on work life balance and stuff like that. And so and Austin Walker works there and he's IP director and he explained that for that very corporate title, what it means is he's basically gonna keep doing his job as a DM and creating worlds and characters and stuff and creating lore and all that stuff that he really cares about. So very excited for him. And there's not much more info. They did some interviews on games, but we did in an interview with them a little bit. I think we got a few codes from them. Basically, and so you can kind of like try to read into that, but it's early. There's just not a lot of details on like what games they would be making, when those games would be coming out. That's gonna take some time, but I'm very excited they got like Jane Nigg from Jane is it Jane Wynn? I think how you say that, I'm sorry, I should look into them and I apologize. But from uh Campo Santo, I believe, and then well then Valve and uh and so yeah, but they have a lot of really awesome people working there. Hopefully that will turn in some really awesome games, and hopefully they won't get purchased by Valve and then their game will get canceled. Like I don't know if it's canceled, but in the Valley of the Gods, I think it is what it was called, which is what Janwen was working on. H. Yeah, that that game feels like it's never coming out. From t dot, I r r C looking up what happened with Vampire. Oh if I remember correctly looking up what happened with h Vampire? The best Great Bloodlines was the one of the first on your to do list. Any update on that I've I've asked around, and it is one of the first things on my to do list, and it's one of those things I keep looking at and say, hey, uh, like we should be hearing more about this game. We should know more. And the rumbling I've heard, which I cannot confirm, is that just it's trouble development, it's COVID, it's all the stuff that we know. It's all the same kind of understood excuses that are all viable and reasonable. But it's all the same stuff we've heard. And they're trying to keep the game from falling apart completely, and as far as I could tell, they're succeeding in terms of that, like it's not falling apart completely, but the fact that it's at risk of like completely collapsing, it's pretty like it's kind of gloomy in terms of like the outlook for that game. So but I don't know for sure. I'll keep looking. I think what what's likely gonna happen here is we're just gonna have to wait and see until they announce something, and then maybe then once we know what's next for that game, can look look into it more. Maybe more people will be willing to talk from Homer for hire. Hey Jeff with avowed sounding like a obsidian taking on Elder scrolls. Is it a worry that Microsoft will soon be making too many similar game games I eat big open world western, open world Western RPGs. Yeah, I mean there's a little concern, but really I feel like at a certain point you can't have too many of those. I don't think Sony has too many like Over the Shoulder action a venture games where you have a partner character and it's very narrative focused and it's very cinematic and and you yeah, I don't think, like, you know, that's maybe it's not the same thing. Like that stuff is like sort of house style versus a genre. But I still think that if all of the games are good, they'll do fine. Really, it's gonna come down to that. I don't think people are going to be too fatigued by that style of game anytime soon. It's not going to be the Farcry thing. But even Farcry continues to sell really well. So what do we know? If if any of these games sell anywhere near as well as Skyrim, they'll be happy. Even if one of them sells as well as Skyrim. They'll be happy, but I think it's likely that they're trying to This is like these studios were available to purchase. That's one of the reasons that's Microsoft ended up with them. It wasn't like, oh, we gotta go get every single open world Western RPG developer out there. It just turned out like there was a lot of those available. But now that they have them, they're not too concerned about like competition there, and really they shouldn't be because of game Pass. Game Pass makes uh kind of eliminates that competition problem where it's like, oh, oh, i'm ea and I'm releasing Battlefield and Titan Fall right next to each other, and then I'll also Call of Duty is over there, and so all these games are competing with with people or for people's time and money, and something's gonna suffer, and so it's gonna be Tightenfall too. With game Pass, everything is additive. If you put something on game Pass and you put another thing in the game Pass, that's just like it. Well, persons not gonna be like, well, I'm gonna cancel game Pass because that game's on here. Now, it's just one more reason to keep subscribing to game pass because it's like, well, I'm already playing this, I'll get to that next and it's the same money. I'm spending the same money either way. So in that environment, that really it really changes the incentive incentive structure, and so it creates a situation where Microsoft can green light a lot more games. But it also means that they can green light games that might might have seemed like they were eating each other's lunch in a more direct purchase environment. All right, let's do a few more questions and we'll start wrapping up. Yeah, let's see. Uh yeah, let's just keep going wet. It seems we have a good amount here. Try to pick out some good ones from talking bedouf is x Com on leave until they wrap up their Marvel thing or can we expect to hear anything about the franchise in the near future. I think that it is a little bit on the side. While they do the Marvel thing. I think that's good. They will get a chance to sort of try something else different, Like the Marvel game is definitely has a lot of new mechanics stuff that wasn't in x Com games. There's cards and stuff like that. They'll get a chance to try something different, see what works, and kind of come back to Xcom fresh after that if they want to. Xcom is definitely a franchise that I think they are happy with. It continues to perform pretty solidly for them, and especially in terms of a return on investment with how much money they spend on these games. But I think they're like, Okay, we've done a lot of those. We We've tried a bunch of different ideas. We did that the Alien cop one recently that I didn't play, but like it was like a new idea, even if it was an idea of even if it kind of felt like an expand alone. Let's try something different. Let's go to Marvel, Let's get a license. Let's see if we can make something that that's like really big and has a chance to break out, and if it doesn't, we'll wrap back around to Xcom. No harm, no file sort of thing, because I think the Marvel game will probably sell fine enough to justify its existence from Oscar and how do You Senior Snacks. The recent announcement of the TV show got me wondering what's going on with the System Shock remake. Feels like it's been a while I believe it's coming still. I believe it's still in the works. I think we'll hear about it soon. I think that they might have teased as much. I'm trying, who makes Who's doing that System Shock remake? System Shock remake, and it just comes that Night Dive is the different one? Right? There was the Night Dive one and there's someone else doing the System Shock remake. Uh yeah, Okay. From what I've heard is it's still coming and we'll probably hear about it soon. I think that's what happens is we get these TV deals now because there's movement happening with the games from Lord Kydis. Do you think Nintendo is going to be surprised with how well Metroid seems to be sewn? Okay and Coordinato we talked about this a little bit, but yeah, Nintendo. I don't think Nintendo's too surprised. I think they would love to be. If it got the Luigi's Mansions three level, they would be surprised. I think if it does anywhere around three to five million, I think it's right where they think it's gonna be, and I think it's probably where it's gonna end up. Wow. I think it might get to six or seven million personally, but we'll see from Kane High Wind zero nine with how thrown together and tossed to the side. The last day of Sex Game was do you think we'll ever get another? Or do you think it's dead? In square Enix's eyes. I don't know. It's hard to say what Square Ennix is thinking about these. I mean, honestly, I think Square Enix is just basically counting its final Fantasy fourteen money, and then everything else is sort of like, whatever, we'll do able to try some stuff. We'll see what we're you know, put out Bell in Wonder World. But yeah, sure, you know, usually knock It wants to make some weird getting whatever. We don't care, just go ahead, green light it. And then you know, a tumb Rator game comes out and doesn't perform and the freak out and they're like, oh, this games sold bad. We're gonna, you know, we have to completely rethink how we do everything. I think that Square Ennix is just in a space where it does not know what it wants to do with its Western studios. I think that's how we end up with Crystal dyne Ax working on Perfect Dark. So I mean, I just wouldn't be surprised if they kind of do more of that sort of thing, like let these studios be support studios for other publishers, or sell them or have them, you know, work. You know, they're going to be done with the Marvel games, but maybe they'll go for a different license because they're just like, we don't know what to do with you otherwise, and we're done betting on these Dao sex games or whatever. I think that they could easily make another Game of the Year contender Dao sex game that really stood out and had a chance to find an even bigger audience than ever before. I just don't think Square Anix has the stuff right now to withstand that sort of risk, or at least they're they're afraid of that sort of risk right now. For sure. I hope I'm wrong, but that's what it feels like from zekrits Hey snacks Man. So with a bunch of people from Undead Lambs going to Possibility Space, what is going to happen to the State of Decay series. It'll I think it'll continue. I think that there's people there that are going to move up and keep it going. You want to tell me something I'm about to wrap up, so go yeah you wanna tell me, go ahead and tell me. No, you want to go outside? Okay, all right, well that sounds good. Okay, Oh you want to go to the zoo with the with the drafts and the lions. Oh okay, in the swimming pool? Okay, all right, all right, go sit down and I'll let me wrap up, and then we'll see about going to a swimming pool. Okay, let's wrap it up here. I'll let me do one more question and then I'll go deal with this child from Zombie Pie. If Nintendo thinks getting oh led displays will be easy after their first patch of consoles, oh yeah, okay yeah, if Nintendo thanks, getting oh led displays will be easy after the first patch of consoles sell out. I think that Nintendo has got a pretty good line on the supply of oh lad displays. I think that's why it ends up with the with those switch oh lad because that's a part that it was able to source. Uh. I think when it was looking at things, sourcing stuff was probably pretty difficult. It only got more difficult. I don't know how far into development the switch probe really got. I know the people saying that kids were out there, but I think that was just prepper prepping software and the hardware probably didn't get very far along really, because they are probably looking at like, how what can we use to put this thing together to make it work and make it feel like something even more premium because we might charge four hundred dollars for it or whatever. And I think once they started looking into those components, the Old was the one thing they had. Everything else was like, Okay, if we switch up the manufacturing on this, we are just going to fall very far behind, and it's gonna be very hard to make this thing. And we wanted to be able to meet demand. Let's do something a little bit. Let's just mark it our way out of this, say the Old it's a big deal, and treat it as such and raise the price on it. And we know we could probably make enough of those. At least that's what it feels like right now. We'll see, you know you're right once they sell out of this initial batch, Let's see how long it takes them to re stock. But I think it's gonna be a little bit easier for them than it has been for PlayStation and Microsoft. I'm so mad from Tolkoto. I'm so mad you called the game Boy Color up Pro upgrade. Man, just a fight that me and Mike. This is Mike Manatty, my co worker games Beat. We have all the time and the most recent one, the most recent thing I thought of to argue with you about, is do you do you when you put the four megabyte expansion pack in the Nintendo sixty four, were you like, oh, a new console is That's what it is. It's just like an expansion pack. But they sold it to you again, that's all. Uh, you could fight me if you want to. All Right, everybody. Uh, this guy, uh, it's Christian A RG says you smell like weed. Well I am weed. Don't tell me, don't tell your mother. I am weed. All right, everybody, this kid is getting pretty ansty. We've been going for an hour and twenty. Let's wrap this up. Thank you everybody for watching. I'm all done. Thank you everybody for watching. Uh, this is grub snacks. If you uh you know, if you like this, tell a friend. I don't know what I'm saying. I just want to go. Honestly, I'm hungry too. Okay, you know you can't just yell on the mic, this is my mic. All right, everybody, thank you so much for watching. I'm gonna hit the button that does the yummy yummy goodbye. Until next time, have a good one, take care of yourself, and goodbye.
