Hey everyone, It's Tuesday, January is the third, twenty twelve, and
you were listening to the Giant Bomb Cast. I'm Ryan Davis twenty twelve.
Y'all. It's a new year, and so we have a fresh, brand
new baby. Vinny Caravella here two zero one two, Oh, I'm baby
new year. Did touch my bottom? It's Vinny Caravella is here for the
twenty dozen, twenty twenty dozen, the twenty dozen or the deuced dizzy,
the deuce dizzy? What was last year? Nothing? We didn't have any
good ones for twenty eleventh. That's tough. Twenty eleventh rhyme something with eleven.
It's tough heaven? All right, Well there you we didn't We didn't
bother with twenty eleven. Twenty eleven, didn't didn't four plus seven Kevin would
Patrick Kleppick is still on vacation somewhere in the Midwest right now. I believe
probably probably like drinking something fried somehow. Go bears, Yeah, go bears,
I guess. And that's the sweet sound of Dave Snyder. Dave,
you haven't been a guest on this podcast. I'm doing physical stretches just to
get myself sitting as opposed as opposed to other kinds of stretches. I don't
know what I'm supposed to do. I just here around from last where whenever
you guys were here last Oh? Is that is that game of the year?
PaperWorks also remind us of that. I've got a coffee filtering next thing,
that's a coffee filter. Will Smith has started eating stuff out of coffee
filters, like using those instead of like paper towels. He was sitting that,
he was sitting there with like a handful of popcorn. Because it's already
like she's kind of bullish and and you know, you're not what's wrong with
them bowl? What's wrong with an actual bowl? If you find me a
bowl in this office, you go ahead and let me know when they were
the bowls at well see, you know there was on a Kessler's head,
but he's since left. Want want oh, come on, bull hairs.
The least we could do. It's the kindest thing you could do if we're
gonna tear down Matt Kessler. Uh. Jeff Gershman also still on vacation,
enjoying his time off the bread shoemakers. Here. I'm here, and I
am so excited. I know you can tell how excited I am that I
just ate some iceberg lettuce. It was. It was okay, iceberg let
us. Yeah, it was just you know, chicken seas rap or something,
but gets the job done, something refreshing after the last two weeks about
eating some straight up let us. So yeah, we've we've took a little
holiday break, Brad. You went back to the homeland, back to the
mother lands. Dude, how is the how are the catallacts? Yeah?
Okay, yeah, two visits chick folio, one boat jagles. That's how
we measure the quality of the visits. Now, Yeah, Well, I
mean those things are more trashy Southern fried food, but not Hey, there's
nothing trashy. There's something about about a little it's a little little's. I
would say it's like maybe one step up from waffle house and and waffle houses.
Waffle House is about as trashy as as as it gets. Waffle House
is like a gunshot wound at three in the morning, self inflicted. The
waffle house near my school had a gunshot pull like a bullet hole in the
window. Yeah. They didn't fix it. Yeah, it was just there.
Well, are they all twenty four hours. I don't know if there
are any non twenty four hour ones, but any vacation highlights you get anything
cool? Do you know? What I got was earthquake prepared in this stuff?
Oh yeah, yeah, okay, bad, Like I'm you know,
I'm sure like all of you guys, like I'm well in my adulthood to
the point that like, what are you gonna buy a gift? It's like,
if I wanted, I'm gonna go buy it. Yeah. So what
I got was a solar powered and also optionally crank powered MF and radio power.
Somebody contributed to PBS and that coming a tote, No, just in
a box. It's attractive tote and a little a little sack of Mrs meals
ready to eat. Nice, It's good. I'm glass. So I'm gonna
go to I'm gonna go to Costco and get a big old thing a bottled
water. I'm gonna and this is where your home cares. Sock all that
stuff away in a closet somewhere, and then I hope that when the big
one comes, that closet does not get sealed off, cause it still exists.
Yeah, they said on the news the other day, they said,
it's the next thirty years, like a it's like a six to seven range.
We are absolutely due once a century or so. We are. We
are due for a nice big shake. I was actually thinking over the break.
There was a day or two where I'm like, this is feeling like
earthquake weather. So sense it in your bone, you can. We're all
transplants. I don't think we have the native Yeah, you you've been through
it. I know, I've lived in the air. It was pretty there
is there is. There is a specificity to earthquake weather. It's not just
a hurricane weather. It's smelling the hurricanes. Yeah, yeah, static years
tingling, you know. Karen's first one was in the movie theater. She
thought it was the movie theater, Like it was like the rumbling of the
movie. Yeah. She was like, what was I was like, that
was the earthquake. She's like, yeah, first one. I was kind
of freaked. I realize just how imposing they can be. Ye, that
is nature. It's like I was hating ready hold on a second. Yeah,
but I kind of can't describe it because it's like it's like, all
right, we're done. It's it's so power like you realize that like,
oh my god, this is not gonna this isn't a car going by,
this is not gonna stop, and you immediately freeze. Yeah. No,
I ran over to the bookshelf to stop the v and then realized afterwards,
over, that's dull the worst place. That's like literally the opposite of earthquake
of what the earthquake preparedness for you would tell you to do the wall.
What I had, what I've been told is you know, you don't want
to get underneath something. What you want to do is there is the triangle
of safety next to your pocket. Yeah, Basically you want to be like
down and next to a heavy piece of furniture because when stuff falls it if
it if it falls and hits the thing and crushes it, you're just gonna
be crushed underneath it. So it'll break the fall. It'll break the fall,
and then it'll it'll fall and create basically like a little zone right next
to the saying where you can conceivably be safe. So I thought a lot
about this, because it's like beams and shit that you gotta worry worry about.
I don't want to be trapped in the pocket. I think i'd rather
just go out you rather just get crushed. I don't want to be like,
why are you sucking around with all this preparedness stuff? Well, because
it's it's you know it is because guess what it's gonna be if it if
you actually need that stuff, is it's gonna be pretty bad. Yeah.
I was like, if it comes to the point that I need this radio
like, it's gonna be, it's bad, bad out there to remember,
I think it's gonna cure. I've always I've always heard go under a doorway.
Does that structurally? It's it's structurally yeah, yeah, but the pocket
stuff create that pocket, and I just gonna got under like concrete in a
pocket, crushed leg, like you're you're kissing your kneecap or something and you're
just trapped and you're like, this is it. This is it for the
next three days until I do so terrible idea. I should just died myself.
They said on the news, if it's if it's on the San Andreas,
I'm not the Hayward. Yeah, that you could be talking about like
a quarter million people in San Francisco who can't return to their homes. I've
got like homes basically destroyed. I've got two, got a bug out bag
in the car and my bug at bag. Here. Have you strapped your
water heater strapped? I don't have my own water here? Actually do I
do? Now my new apartment's gonna say I've got water. About your water
heater? You gotta strap it and make sure it's strapped. What's strapped?
I mean, well, water heat heaters tend to like to come loose and
then spew natural gas everywhere and then start amazing fires. Oh so that's why
there's like major laws in California that you have to keep your water heaters like
specifically safely strap secured. Yeah, I hope strap them to the water.
Strap it on. Check a strap okay, check till the water here,
I'm coming into it. A strap check, yes, strap check. Cough.
Right, that's good. I'm genuinely concerned. No, yeah, this
is well, that's I mean, like, well, when the when the
when the eighty nine quake hit? Uh, you know, the marina basically
burned down really well. I mean there were fires and shipped down the marina,
and a lot of that was because of natural of like you know,
natural gas fires. Sounds bad? Yeah, like everybody likes to joke about
the big one, like, yeah, I can't wait for that thing to
hit. I'm gonna But it's always the fires. It's never the quake.
Like the quake itself will do it enough damage. Like you know, there
was obviously a huge structural the impact in the Bay Area when when that quake
hit. But it's also it's the secondary stuff that always water contamination gets gets
out of control the water. I hadn't experienced that. I can see that
being a thing. I don't know if that's like California. It might just
be a flood thing. So I have no idea shotguns I want to bury.
I want to put a shotgun or a rifle in I don't really like
guns, but I want to put one in a waterproof container on like a
twenty foot chain and drop it off the side of like the cliffs over here
into the water like about five feet under, and then when the ship goes
down, you want to pull it up. You'll pull it up and say
you get your underwater shotgun. Because I'm not so much worried about well,
that's what I'm saying, like just it's like five feet under and like attached
probably be really dumb. Its high tide chain and that gun because chain wrapped
around a shotgun wrapped in a plastic trash bag. Why is it red on
the tip? Because I'm not worried about the earthquakes so much in like a
major city, like I suspect it was the three days you need. You're
You're worried about the zombie scenario, people turning on each other. It's not
the zombi Yeah, forget the zombie part, but I'm worried about like you
know what I mean, but you have. But that's the truth thing in
any zombie story, it's not the zombies, it's the other people. Other
people build the team. So the more prepared you are, though, like
you're now prepared in some way. Well they don't know that though, but
they will as soon as they see that you're there with like, I'm not
gonna deal Like I'm not gonna be sitting out on my front step with that.
Do kick your door in. We'rena, I'm gonna hide. Some start
looting. Wait, what are the we got four people? What are the
roles? What are we all feeling? Me? Keep? Yeah, let's
say we just got four people. Your tag from No I was injured in
the initial combat, so on the on the liability, Yeah, you gotta
leave me behind. I'm the first to get the one that's bleeding out,
So I made a makeshift. Um the problem causer, Like, just leave
them behind me. He's dead, wait on you. Yeah, but you
can't walk. I can't walk. I'm kind of taking up a lot of
resources. I'm bad bad news, Like I'm branched, like hastily wrapped to
your thighs to make but I'm the only one who knows. We're the bugout
bags are and I can't tell you, but I have to take you there.
And I'm so I'm the starters. You're worried. Yeah, you're worried
about us. I'm the first act. Every every day you look a little
bit worse. Yeah, and it's it's getting bad, and then you're in
and out of consciousness and then the delirium comes and Dave, I feel like
you're the hard choice maker. Let's kill them. But it's like, even
living in California my whole life, it's always the most exciting thing when an
earthquake starts is past the initial realization of okay, hey, an earthquake is
happening. But then it's just like, all right, how long is this
going to keep going for? How hard is it going to? Like?
Oh, is it gonna shake a little more? And you're like, well,
well this could keep going, this could get worse because it doesn't.
It doesn't just like necessarily hit just like bam. Immediately you're shaking it fucking
you know, six point zero or whatever. It'll start rumbling and then well
that's that's what I'm saying. The first one I had when you suddenly realize
they're in the rules, there's there's not like this isn't fair, Like this
is not like yeah, well it's not even just like hurricane or tornado stuff
where it's like, oh, like twenty minutes out that's coming. You better
like batting down the hatchet. You have time to tape up your windows before
hurricane comes. I will take the Whiskey media emblem off our wall and use
it as a Sheila to protect of this new post apocalyptic How many people were
crushed in the eighty nine, like just in their homes or a lot less
than there would have been if the World series wasn't happening, because it happened
on the day of that every day three and everyone word that at that hour
would have been commuting and would have been on the freeway that collapsed. Oh
you're talking about collapse are crushed by the bridge? Yeah, well well not
at the bridge, by the Barcdero freeway. It would be a double decker
freeway where the Barcderrow is. Yeah, like or not yet, not the
bridge, but the highway you fell in, right, Yeah, that it
was double double decker bam get collapsed twice and so a bunch of people got
swishing there, but not as many as would have otherwise. What about in
their homes though? That's the thing I worked any I mean, it was
the Marino was where most of that structure, like serious structural damage was.
There's a lot of stuff in Santa Cruz as well, but I don't think
a lot of people were dying in that that stuff. It was mostly the
Embarcadero falling. See I'm thinking like ground yawning style earthquake where the bridges are
collapsed or and that's like we're see. I feel like, if if we're
at that point, fuck your bug out back, Like that doesn't even matter.
I'm going to the I'm going to Marine Headlands. I'm camping out.
How are you going to get there across that Golden gate bridge that doesn't exist
anymore? I don't know. It's jet ski and they got paddles and an
inflatable raft. I got a kayak. I'm making my way to Alcatraz and
I'm holding it down. Yeah, I mean that's really the scarier thing is
the idea of because you know, we're we're very dependent on bridges and stuff
to get around in this in this in this city and in this this area.
So I'm just I'm just worried about looters. Like literally, I'm worried
about because like when it comes like push comes to shove, if it's the
question of your survival of mine, like, of course, I'm gonna kill
you. Like why wouldn't you like that? Seriously? That's why I just
go straight to the country and just get it alone. Let's go out to
my dad's. He's got property, he's he's got guns. Like why why
would you live if you prepared? Why would I let you live and me
die? Why? Because it's fair? Well, how but I think you're
maybe overestimating how quickly it would turn. I don't think it's just earthquake.
And then I'll say this about about the eighty nine quake, like that wasn't
that wasn't your fucking you know, earth yawning, open kind of thing,
but everyone was. It was the most cordial and together I have seen residence
of the San Francisco Bay Area. I think it could turn in a week
because Okay, so over some time, if like care isn't coming in and
there is, yeah, that's when it gets bad. Yeah, because that's
not gonna happen. That's not gonna happen. That's like a weak But you
better have your your shotguns and your milk ready otherwise you're in trouble. The
milk's gone bad. Not in Quite Tower, that's right. Yeah, shot
guns and milk. That's a day spells me. Well, I'm not going
to quit. I'm gonna go blow up Quite Tower. Oh man' that's my
first place your power rap? Yeah? Who is dropping Quite Tower? Who
doesn't want to sit on like the top of like a castle on the top,
I can just sit there and snipe people, would be great. This
one word, yeah exactly. Yeah, that's why you got to get out.
Just get out of the city. Alldus. You already made the right
decision. Vinny moved to the birds. It's already like ten times the earthquake
hit. What what's you guys can leave, They'll be the potent tative perfect.
I'm the only one here that actually still lives in the city, you
know. I'm sorry. Yeah, now you're stuck here with the bay is
closing it around there in your ranks to the park too, and that'll be
a god that that'll just be aware, like immediately all of the you know,
everybody without a home. Yeah, everyone who's been displaced. You know,
I always wanted, you know, like females set up tense and shit
out there. It's like it's the one open spot. It'll be just disgusting.
It'll be terrible game stuff. We're getting to it, yeah, brat
stuff for the earth. You have like a lot of super interesting video game
stories to tell because I don't know, we were doing fine years, all
right, So you had to go and mention videos, all right, geez,
aren't youre like energy drinks or something around. I'm glad that's so eight
dude. Come on, it's twenty twelve. It's twenty twelve, y'all.
Ok, it's now it's it's earthquake, snares, it's it's tragedy scenario.
All right, so your entire family dies, all right, Well, awesome,
Brad. Anything anything else, I do feel a little bit better.
That's pretty much it. You say you feel better a little bit having it
there. It's actually not here yet. They have to ship it to me
because I don't never bring it up. I was gonna mention mrs they go
bad. So it's not for a long time. But I think it's like
you're supposed to place them every two years or a year. I think,
so I'm not so mine Jesse and I have Oh yeah, we have decided
that before Thanksgiving we will always eat our MRIs and then restop. So I'm
actually really looking forward to that. Have you ever had an m R eve
I would have to, like chalk, right, I've had a couple.
I mean, it depends on what you have. Like I have stuff that's
just like like protein, Like it's just it's just a block. It's just
like protein sustenance. It's like it's just a thing. Just eat it and
it will taste awful. By flower ms. These aren't like military ones.
Yeah, yeah, you know what Brad's talking about like I've had. I
mean, I've had proper MRIs, which are like those ones would fall apart
in like a second Mayflower. You should have already eaten those. I'm gonna
say those are for the Mayflower. It's maze. Uh yeah, I think
I think they expire. I'm not sure water also expires too, so unless
you put the drops in it. I've got books. You were way into
the survival thing. Uh. Yeah, I don't have a I don't have
my shot gun yet. Uh, Bradley, you play any games with me?
Yeah, Bodze two played a lot more Batman, did you. Yeah,
I'm warming up to that game. Yeah, you want. You were
very you were very like I don't like what they changed. Yeah. Well,
the more that I forced myself to just go through the story and ignore
all the side stuff, the more I like it. So I think that's
that's what you did, right. Yeah. So the thing is like I
got to the point where I think a lot of the side stuff just didn't
trigger for me, or it wasn't. That's kind of where where I fell
off a little bit. Like I got through the story, loved the story,
like just enjoyed everything that that game had me do for the most part,
but there was some side stuff where just like what the objective was or
where I needed to go just wasn't clear. There's there's there's there's stuff that's
just like, all right, now you have to go to this area and
like find a corpse or something, and I'm like, this area is super
dark and dead stuff. Yeah, so the dead shot stuff is is where
I got stuck because I'm like, I'm not it's not being super clear on
where I need to go. I'm kind of just wandering around but I don't
feel like I'm making any progress here. So yeah, I can. I
can see play it like Arkham Asylum and it's a great game. Yeah,
I enjoy Actually picked up the version of Arkham Asylum because that was like a
dollar over the break or something disgusting. That's a great game. Batman's pretty
good. That's a good game. Yeah, should play that. Uh played
some of that Odd World Strangers Wrath definition remakes. It's available now network They
is that just on PS right now? Yeah, it's not on the three
sixty for whatever reason or PC, which it's probably the greatest tragedy because they
put out that awful busted version of the original game on the PC. You
know, was that really fucked up then? Like real bad, like unplayably
bad. Some people have extremely fond memories of like like a few people of
Strangers Rapa. There are things about that that I remember thinking pretty cool at
the time, And I played just a little tiny bit of it before the
break. What think of it? It's kind of showing its age a little
bit, but you know it's got some unique to Yeah, it looks fine
scale up well, yeah, mainly the way it's put together, like through
the through the lens of the last seven years. My memory of that game
was like, oh, it's a big, open like western environment to roam
around in, but it's totally not very narrow. It's just it's like a
hubtown with like little spokes coming off of it that are just like like straight
linear levels. It was like it was the cool stuff with the ammo.
Ye it was at least not yeah, very unique, but I might play
some more of that cool. What else to play right now? Yeah,
there's not much. I don't know. If you get into that back catalog
you've got anything else in there that you're eyeballing Your back Caddy played a little
bit of push mo. Yeah, that's pretty good. That's a great game,
right that that makes me think. It makes me feel better about the
three DS. It's like, you guys are doing it right, Okay,
at least something games always seven dollars and it's really cool and unique and it
looks nice and you don't have to put anything in your system to play it.
So yeah, it's just I wish it didn't have to exist exclusively in
the ghetto of the three DS EA store yet, although now that they at
least let you save your credit card information and also let you buy points in
the exact amount that you need, which I realized because I had like a
dollar on my three DS account and like, there's nothing you can buy fu
fuck yourself for a dollar. How about that shop, I'll under cut that
fifty cents. Come on, fuck yourself for smile twenty five cents. It
takes his two bits. But yeah, so I had that much on there.
I'm like, I want to buy a push Moo. It's like,
well, you can either just buy you know, the preset amounts or exactly
however much you need and what that sounds great? So no balance on there
anymore? Yes, push most great. I think that's it. Awesome,
Yeah, fantastic. What are you looking forward to in twelve? One out
of twelve? Do you want this? What do you want? What do
you want? Brad? Make it through the year. Yeah. If my
mrs are still in their boxes at this time next year, then I will
consider it this year that success. Twenty twelve should be fun. I hope
so. Like GDC C yes, is happenings effect mass effect? Man,
I can't wait to hear about new TV's officially. My parents got a fifty
five inch TV right before I came home. Now my TV is woefully inadequate.
I need a new television. Yeah, yeah, another feeling. Let's
see what they announced. Dave Snyder, that's me, Dave. Thanks for
coming and sitting with us today. It's awesome. It's awesome. I know
I'm here. Yeah you haven't. We've been busy site architect in and designing
or I guess co designing our amazing Game of the Year stuff, which,
yeah, it's pretty dumb. I want it once again. I want to
thank Fey Caravella and Dave Snyder and the rest of the pretty dumb creative team.
That stuff came out so much better than I even ever could have possibly
imagined. Yeah, I want to thank everybody for the amount of trust that
David. I just kind of going off and going to a costume store and
they come back for you for you're you said space Egyptian. So this is
what we got. You were supposed to be a cowboy. Here's a sombrero.
This guy looks like a chic Space Egyptian. Really turned out a lot
better than I think anyone could have anticipated. Yeah. The funny part with
Finny was he was very much buying little pieces too, outfits, and it's
like, oh, so that's for the cowboy, and he'd always be like,
no, that's space everything. It didn't matter what it was. It
was like a bag full of space egypt alright, like everything that went into
the other pile, right, No, that's staff. Is this the wizard
stuff? No, that's a space man as the wizard. I was very
jealous supposed to have. Yeah, well because it was I wasn't quite sure
it was gonna make a space and I saw that that like, I don't
know, this is as Egyptian as it gets. In the store, I
thought, I thought the robot and monocle really brought up. I think you
saw that that was that was what it needed. It made everything else makes
sense somehow, because otherwise he's just an Egyptian. I'm still kind of bumm
though, because his like headpiece covered the very carefully crafted ange it a little
bit. Yeah. Yeah, and the headband didn't fit, so he wasn't
wearing the gold headband, but the sash he found the amazing old lady talking
about talk about things not fitting you guys. Guys handed me my costume,
which included a women's extra small T shirt. Well that just comes from like
Dave's version of comedy, which is like by everything way too small in store
for that. And then he said, oh is that stars on it?
And perfect? Perfect? Oh my god. The I ended up cutting it
down the middle in the back and pinning it to my shirt was on there.
I'm not actually wearing the sheet, it's just a shirt. Dicky's just
hanging hanging on. We had a budget and we came on under our budget
and we're very happy. Yeah, it ended up having to be piecemeal,
and you know, the everything else was really expensive. The best line of
it was us going in there and Pitty being like, all right, so
we're trying to do you have anything like cheaper and the guy who's ruining the
store was like, sir, we don't sell anything, and I was like,
we need okay, so we need a wizard. He's that okay,
I need I need a space Egyptian. All right, I need a night
No, not gonna happen, not gonna happen. How much? Nope,
not gonna happen. Okay, No, that's what I said, a night
spacey ism cowboy, like, night's not gonna happen. I was like,
wizard. Okay. The wizard was good too. When you guys went in,
was the plan that Brad was gonna be a night Yeah? Really he's
on the fly, be like all right, he's a wizard. Now that
we saw that hat and the guy was like, yeah, you know you
could cut the ears off the head, We're like, no, we're keeping.
It's funny because Brad and I had that same conversation of like, should
should the ears are like nope, ears should probably stay on. Uh no,
you were gonna be a cowboy and cowboy hat to really expensive. She
got somebrero I think the sombrero and fantastic and you and then blanket with a
hole cut in it, which was Dave's truck. Yeah. Did that go
back into your truck? No? I don't know what, but it will.
I mean yeah, you'll want it for whatever. Did you cut the
hole? Yeah? Yeah, wow yeah. Because weird one was like you're
gonna I was like, fuck yeah, look great matches hat and it worked.
I felt like it worked perfectly. And then the convict the jumper yourself.
I bought that on my own. You bought stuff like after the fact,
and so then we got the wig and the wig was supposed to be
like Elvis. I know you bought Elvia Jailhouse Rock because I was thinking of
the guy from Shawshack, like the guy who comes in like late can play
that. And then we got those glasses and then I was like, this
isn't gonna play. And we got an extra small shirt for me, and
then that didn't work, and then it was like extra small shirts for everyone,
even even Drew was a pretty spelt dude. That shirt was hard.
Uh yep, this was a lady shirt too. It was it was all
of fun. That was That was God, Yeah, that was that was
and again the the finished product we are now apparently on the hook for making
a v game. So don't throw away your costume. Yeah, keep that
stuff. We're gonna need these to bring these characters back. At some point
most of them were dead. That's true, right, that's right, everyone
died. Huh prequels, Yeah, that's right. Story the stories exactly how
did you become the sheriff of that time? I was in the sheriff I
had. I was just there and that was just the old rummy, going
back to kind of like asking everybody for kind of their patients. It was
like, Okay, here's all your stuff. It's come up with like a
five step short story about new player, and it was it was like it
was like day of like standing on the green screen, like all right,
no, invent all of the dialogue and come up with how you're going to
say the name of the next thing? Okay, the next one go,
which I have to admit kind of shows, but it's also kind of what
I love about it, luckily offensive. Yeah. Yeah, And I actually
watched a little bit of Mad Dog McCree to get into to find my character
bank. I do. I do think we missed the compromy with the helmet
though, to do a sewer shark impression. That's always next year. Yeah,
that's true. I don't want to look too far behind the curtain.
But how did you do that hat flying off shot? Did you have a
fully rigged up somewhere. Yeah, it was electric. It was the it
was the blue tape. It was the painters tape using blue painters tape.
It was it was attached to the little like neck string. Okay, And
and it was he was on and interns was on like a little step stool
off to the side because he because he had to pull it like pretty much
straight up or else it would knock the little hat underneath it off and a
little hat had like this very thin little string that was keeping it attached to
my head. Also have to say, we have to give credit Halloween store
guy's idea for the little and he was like, it's only eight dollars more
and we're like, wow, that's still that's worth. Did he say like
it could be on underneath it the you know, post Halloween? He was
probably happy for the business. Guess it was the off season. I also
wonder why, like guys that work at costume shops don't dress and a costume.
It's kind of dressed like purple hair. But yeah, imagine it's you
know, they're like theater texts. That's like where theater texts go to die
is costume shops in San Francisco. Next with a great sausage places. Place
is good. Yes, Thomas. Thomas pulled it off, though it's like
seven takes. Yeah, really, I took a bunch of takes because we
had to figure out like, Okay, you're shooting, you're shooting, you're
shooting, you're shooting, and bam pull yeah, best music, best original,
best original music, and then most takes are the whole thing was complicated
shooting, yep. And then you came back and had to do more stuff
as the convicts and you lost your convict voice and picked up my western guy
voice. Yeah, thank you're talking to Drew. Talking to Drew great.
It's like it's like an old luish k bit where he does the thing about
a southern guy who thinks he's from New York and it's these these two accents.
I can't find it, like like it's kind of the same, but
as Law took me about a minute, like two minutes. I find it
again, and like god damn no, no, I can't remember that.
He's saying something along the lines of okay, back to the dinner table,
like he was just channeling the family again and true you do that. That
was goofy and yeah, thanks everybody again for the for the patient and uh
you know the trust. It came well, it came out awesome, so
so God God bless you for that was a real cast in the wind.
Hard work there, that got done. Dave Snyder, how is your break?
It's good? I went back east, Yeah, went to New Jersey,
went to Maryland. How's the family? Got myself some cheese steaks?
Nice can get cheesesteaks in Maryland? No, and Phi Philly. He did
the tour I did. I went to talk those boards Gino's and pats So
near the Philly side of Jersey. South Jersey, which nobody likes to remember
exists. Everybody's all North Jersey, New York. There's South Jersey. It's
like more pillow. That's like good. Yeah, yeah, there are like
good cheesesteaks in South Jersey. Wallahs fell in love again because I've thought about
I've I've I've poured over the Wahwah's website before. It's fascinated by Wawa best
best hog. It looks amazing. It's really good Italian HOGI m m yeah,
yeah, did some good eating Italian Yeah, I did that. Got
some England, had had some England for the first time since Marino sent us
that that casey so yeah, good times. You know the oldest brewery in
the country, Yeah, like East Coast or in the country, East Country.
Yeah, well East Coast Country by the fault, right, even men
were mad beer in California, that's right. Yeah. I had a two
thousand years ago snow it out there. I met my fiance's father and turns
out he's eighty six. Turned out he was an old like quasi hacker back
in the eighties, Like, yeah, just tell me about his guilt about
downloading games off PBS boards. Wow on like old Attari systems. Jeez,
I thought was amazing. That's pretty amazing. Yeah. And this was after
he was trading me stories about like learning to box on like naval ships.
I do you saying on Atari? So we got I was gonna say,
did you get father in law approval? Then? I did? I feel
like I did? I hope? So who knows? Did you not tell?
Did you not say? Hey? Check out these Games of the Year
videos. Yeah. Yeah, I was like, yo, yeah, what
do you do? Do nothing? I'm a doctor. Yeah, I work
in sanitation. It's an honest job. It was good, but yeah,
it's good. Saw some snow Western Maryland touched it. Yeah, I felt
good about that. You always got to see snow when it's Christmas time.
It's not Christmas otherwise. So Dave, Yes, we did not have a
Game of the Year top ten list from you on the on the feature this
year. Wise then, mostly because I always feel guilty when we do all
those things because they know how much work it's going to be. You could
have been the sewer shark guy. Yeah, I could have been the sewer
shark guy. But yeah, but I think that's when it was. Last
year. I didn't do it because I didn't like enough games I felt in
twenty and ten. But this, uh, this year is mostly just because
I was like, oh god, we're doing so many of these things and
they all have individual sets and individual things. Yeah. I was like,
I'm happy just making yeah, making making people, uh play dress up so
they haven't need a periscope I'll get yeah, yes, yeah, pariscrope.
That was hard. To find. It's very hard to find. Gad for
Patrick. I don't know, he's in like space, he's in like virtual
space. I'll figure it out, alright, alright, yeah yeah, yeah,
yeah, sure, I got it. I got it. No,
no, yeah, let me do another Google image search Space Egypt. It's
just nothing coming, zero results. It's it's it's a really this year I
think has the best story of like how this all just came together. It's
not really for this podcast, but just really because Space Egypt was kind of
the that was the start. That was a jump start. I was like,
looking, you made the background, they made that play. It started
as most things do, where Jeff fucking dares you to do something dumb and
you're like, fuck you fucking boy, you want fucking Space Egypt. All
right, But it wasn't It wasn't even that at that point. It was
all right. When I come back from break, you had you had the
castle in space and like and the whole background, and you had the wooden
gate and you guys are telling me like, it's gonna come down, it's
gonna do this, And then we did the long story short. Uh,
You're like, well, Jeff, you're gonna use this, what do you
want to be? If you would dress up? And he just looked at
the backgrounds, I want to be Space Egypt. I was like, okay,
done. It's it's like this stupidity brinksmanship where everyone it's like, well,
fine, no, well then here's your space your background, great,
where's my costume? Well do it? Who's gonna blink? Yeah exactly,
no one, No one will, and then no one blinks and then we
get fucking Space Egyptians giving you top ten games? Patrick doing a dumb step
in the backgrounds, That's exactly what that was. It was like, well
what if he just what if he just does depths? Okay, yeah,
okay, that sounds good. Should we leave in his voice? Or it
would be cool if we could put it into actuals. Okay, all right,
get reason, pull it up, man, dumb claptop super dump.
So what are your in a more casual, a lower stakes setting here,
Dave Snyder? Do you have top ten games? Skyrom is your top ten
all through all tens? I can tell you, like I understand, it
provides an experience you can't get. Would you guys have here the ones that
I can think up off hands that I really liked Love Skyrom loved h I
love Space Marine. I was playing that Space Marine I did really I a
single player of that. I breezed through in like two citys. Yeah,
just like ran through it. Saints Row, I dug else we got on
here, Portal two. I mean they're all, you know whatever, the
bigger ones that I didn't like at all. La Noir I could do with.
And nobody's gonna be able to visually see this, but I am just
turning my hand back and forth. Yeah, that's what I thought that game
was. Yeah, it was. I couldn't do it. I liked Battlefield
three a lot. I thought that was really funny multiplayer. Uh, and
I didn't really get to check out any of the Star Wars stuff. But
that doesn't really fit in year end stuff. Yeah, it isn't kind of
funny, how you know it when you're MMO, it just you can't kind
of fit it in there well, and especially needs six months, especially like
I just people were posting reviews of that game within the first week of it
being up, and I'm like, that's it's just silly. I'm not sure,
well, even reviewing MMOs in general, Yeah, because it is.
Because it's it's service oriented. Yeah, right, Like that's that's the shift
for for the MMO. The concept is like, you're not it's not really
about the fucking boxed game. It's about the continued access and online you know.
And it changed so much. Also, Da Sex never would have thought
that game would have been good, Like you would have told me, Oh,
they're making like a new day sex gamp. Yes, yeah, fuck
that and it was great, like worked. That seems like the either the
ultimate Dave game or the ultimate anti Dave game, depending on how it came
out. Ah, I thought it did pretty well. I didn't get to
play enough which or two, mostly because I got scared of it, like,
you know, you die just like immediately. I was like, oh
god, they patched the holy hell out of I know, so I'm gonna
go back to it. Do you like those rooms like games you like dying
aren't afraid of? Yeah? I do. And that's what I played over
break. I was playing that binding Isaac, which is fantastic. That's a
fantastic play on a keyboard er, did you go through the hassle of setting
up I played? I played on keyboard because I was playing on a Mac
and I just need something to play. So I was playing that Revenge of
the Titans, but I really liked binding Him Isaac. That was It's that
same sort of thing, but it's a lot easier to play. Cool.
So there you go, Dave, like skyrin. Yes, I felt a
lot better after I heated discussion in here. Then you asked me what we
had picked the next day. Oh yeah. In your response, I was
like, all right. My commentary to Jeff was like, if you don't
pick that game or the game that you like, you guys are idiots.
That's what I told. I was like, and my, my, uh
my only evidence for it was that Sean Coons had put in fifty hours on
skyrom Jeeze really and I was like, Sean Coon's put fifty hours in an
RPG. I think I think your exact words to me were, it's beyond
discussion. I start into it. Yeah, okay, I mean like,
I don't know. That game was just too it got all the all the
points. The only thing that could be really faulted for it where maybe some
of the combat stuff. And really you couldn't even comment, you know,
you couldn't make any commentary on that until dead Island came out for me,
so like it was almost as close to a perfect RPG as I've seen.
I think you're crazy. Big Open World, Yeah, Big open World games
easy to play, like easy to play, got rid of all the crap
that the other ones had. So I don't know, very easy for me
pick that one. I don't think it was even close this year. All
right, well, there you go. Dave Snyder's favorite games from twenty eleven.
Crazy, how your How was your breaking good? I played a lot
of sky. I heard you bought a grill by a grill when the party's
got grill scars already. I don't have a fift people in my apartment for
pay. You got a grill outside apartment? Really? I thought you're in
a house. Well, it's a townhouse, but it's it's a It's like
I have the floor, so it's townhouse. Is not a duplex? Right?
Mine is a duplex. But but not all duplexes are towns. There
are people underneath me and I have shared walls. Oh yeah, wait so
what yeah? So what's a difference between a townhouse on apartment. You can
own a townhouse. It's a condo. Okay, yeah, I'm renting a
condo basically kind of blurry lines between well like, well, so the apartment
building, someone owns that entire building. Right, A condo you can own,
yea, and the duplex is to know what Alex is, Okay,
I didn't know if it had to do with external interests. I have a
back patio, okay. Uh, I'm on the second floor. I have
a back patio and got like a kettle grill using the webb or yeah.
Actually, so it's one of those like webber you know, like the pretty
much grill. Right, it's a kettle thing. Uh, it's a webber.
It's a grill, big rounded, big grounded thing. Yeah, it's
a barbecue grill. It's a barbecue grill. It is a grill. Uh.
So we bought We didn't buy the like you know, typical Kingston briquettes
for our first grilling. Bought this. Uh it's basically charcoal wood. Fancy
sit is it fancy? It was the same problem and gosh, I was
telling Drew this story. So it was about eight o'clock at night in the
winter, so it's pitch dark on a patio. I don't grill up a
fucking omaha. Steak I got for Christmas. Uh, and those things were
real good. So I bought one of those chimney steeper things to light the
charcoal faster. Yeah, and uh, I put that on the grill and
I put the wood in there. And I've never used charcoal wood before.
And the way the chimney thing works, it sucks up air from the bottom
to ventilate and blows it out the top. So it's like a wind tunnel
in there. And at eight o'clock at night on my back patio is like
a Roman candle had gone off. That was just spring hot ash from the
wood as it's seating up into the air. And the back of my apartment
or condo faces like a trail where people walk down, and the walking by
looking over at these sparks flying out, and I'm not even sure if I'm
allowed to have a grill, So I grabbed the tops of their open air
above you. Yeah, I'm on the second floor. There's nothing above me,
okay, so but you know there's stuff around me. And I'm walking
over with the lid a kind of shielding ass back down onto the concrete because
it's a concrete patio. Because I was so nervous that somebody's gonna be like,
what are you doing in there? But it worked. It was fantastic.
Man. I used it three nights in a row once I started getting
that thing going. Oh yeah. I've talked to will Smith about it a
lot. He said that they they cook like six minutes out of seven,
so good. It's just what I want. Yeah, they have big Green
Egg things. Smoker, a smoker, big Green Egg. Yeah. Yeah.
If I had a bigger place, I would have gone a smoker too.
But that that's a weekend investment. That's like you have spend like eight
hours. Yeah, that's that's they like get up early on a Saturday,
starts smoking. And he thought about a gas grill or you just walk straight
to the charcoal. I thought about it for a second, but I don't
really want one. I think they actually might be illegal for the apartment because
there's basically bombs, you know that. I firmly believe in the gas grills.
That's what I'm thinking about. I mean, they're cleaner, and and
they're they're they're easier, and the propane is just not that expensive. Charcoals
actually, Will add I almost went through half five bags. Yeah, yeah,
and there's it's just the set up time. I just I just like
the alight, I want to I want to grill something. Boom, I've
got heat. But let's I used like the lcanic rock or whatever in the
kind of can't beat that smoky taste though it's just the meat, just the
charcoal just puts off that kind of extra even I I just smell like cancer.
It's a yeah, it smells. It smells delicious. So that was
great. That was that was a grill. Nice nice getting me the cool
swag uh for Chris. For Xmas, I bought myself bunch of stuff.
My wife and I uh kind of said we weren't going to buy each other
a bunch of stuff, and then we wound up buying each other a bunch
of stuff like grills and iPhones and nice stuff like that. So that was
a lot of fun. I cancel my cable twenty twelve, Gonna see how
that goes. Yeah, interesting, I think it's an interesting year to try.
So what are you what are you using for your sources? Then?
So my computer is hooked up to my TV in the living room. Yeah,
so I don't really need any of the boxes or Hulus or Apple TV's
or who the devices. All that stuff is like in your consoles now,
like as a console owner, it's like, but it's also on your PC.
So it's like I've used Amazon's movie stuff already. That stuff is great.
Yeah, it's a lot cheaper than a Comcast Direct TV. They were
charging six or seven dollars a movie and HD. My mom freaking loves the
Amazon stuff. It's like three dollars and then the quality is really good.
I've tried, I'm trying Hulu us. I don't. I don't like the
ads. Yeah, pay for ads? Yeah, terrible refuse. It doesn't
bother me that much. U it should be bothered. I understand that they
probably that stuff is so expensive to license that, Like, I don't care
if there are some ads in there. Well, my problems has never been
the well, the problem is that there's ads, but more so that it's
the same ads over and over again. They do not they do not have
the ad inventory to that might be true to sustain it. Yeah, but
like you know, it's it's eight dollars a month and that stuff it's probably
really expensive to try and get. Well, the problem that I had was,
like I felt like there wasn't enough differentiation between that and Netflix. Most
of stuff I would want to watch on Hulu for the most part is on
Netflix. Yeah. The thing for me it was a Daily Show and the
Colbert Report, which which the day after if you are a daily watcher of
those, Yeah, the daily stuff because on iTunes, the season past for
that stuff is I think it's like ten dollars for sixteen episodes, so that
would be ten dollars a month, whereas Hulu is per Daily Show or Colbert
Report also not an HD. Uh so Hulu for eight dollars you get you
know, your monthly. Yeah, so it was a lot of call.
That's That's what I've learned since cutting cable is you're gonna have to go out
at this point and pick and choose what's like. Apple is gonna have some
stuff that you're gonna want, Hulu's gonna have other stuff. No, not
right now, So that's a little difficult. The other thing is, uh,
and this is more my wife than me, there's no just sit down
and channel surf. You have to know what you want to watch, sit
down and watch it, or you need to just there's no like random on
Netflix. That's just like, I don't know, I need something on in
the background. It's like I'll put this shitty documentary on. I don't know.
So that more for her because she kind of just puts TV on when
she comes home. Sometimes it's like I just want background noise. It's like,
no, you gotta sit down, go put Like an episode of I've
had that with the girlfriend as well, is that she still would would rather
watch shitty I don't care, just something I don't I can't make that distinction.
Like my girlfriend does the same thing. She wants like background noise to
fall asleep too, but she just like plays something on Netflix and just goes,
yeah, yeah. I think I think it just worked fun. But
I think this is just like the extra st there's no there's no yeah,
and there's no play all button, you know, right, like a randomize
So like if you could just say, hey, playton things in a row,
I don't care what they are, that that might work, right,
So I'm just like button, that's just like think all right, I fell
asleep in two seconds anyway. Yeah, but so far, I am just
so excited. I am so excited. I am so excited to you not
be under the thumb of big media. You choose, you choose, Oh
gosh, man, that Bill watch TV on the man's skill and crap not
having that Bill. Man, that Bill's crazy. Always up to like two
hundred bucks a month and uh and the things they charge you for are I
mean you guys will heard it probably from me before, where it's just like,
you know, ten dollars a month just for HD, another fifteen dollars
for a DVR, like seven dollars to write your cable modem, like fifteen
dollars and FCC fees. Yeah, like you know, three dollars because it's
you know, Tom's kids bar mitz for this month. It's like, what
are you doing? Kick into the coffee can launch and it's just like,
what are you talking? Like I don't want I watched four things on television.
I watch The Daily Show, I watched Colbert Report, I watch Top
Chef, and I watch MythBusters and like that's all I want. And it
just so happens that most of other things are on cable, so fuck,
it's like, what are you gonna do? I'll be bummed out when Game
of Thrones comes back on because there's no good way to get that right now
without having HBO or knowing somebody who has HBO, so you can get HBO
go. So that's that's the only thing right now. I'm gonna try the
over the air HD with antenna. See how that goes. It's kind of
like my year of testing it out. Yeah, I used to have the
phone. Funny how you both are going in this process, how you both
go forwards and backwards. You're both like, all right, we're getting off
of cable, we're getting onto the internet, but also just radio wage man
and I put up my bunny ears. Also it's like, you know,
they're broadcasting really good over the air HD signals, really Chris better than better
than Beau. I was comparing. And then the Comcast is charging you for
just HD, and it's like, I don't thank you. It's just in
the air all around me. I'm surrounding collecting HD. So we'll see.
And this conversation is cloaked in HD signal. And then talking to people like
I was talking to Brad and Drew and Joey and Thomas. We all kind
of have the same thing. Brad, you don't have cable either, and
Drew doesn't, and Joey doesn't. But we all have a similar package and
we're all from Comcast, all paying like wildly different sums for like basically the
same thing. Really, Oh yeah, it's all just like like when you
signed up and what deal you got, who's getting what? Like how fast
is yours? Like wow, yours is faster than mine? But I'm paying
more than Like I'm paying seventy five just for Internet, and I think you
said you're paying like sixty nine for Internet and basic cable. And it's like
it's been all for four years nothing, no cable, no cable, Internet,
right, Yeah, I pay the internet like the internet, pay as
much as you need. Yeah, I've been probably about a year no cable,
maybe a little more, but yeah, same same thing. Where like
I signed up for just internet because they're like, oh, it's like fun
bucks cheaper for cable if you know, for your internet, if you get
the cable TV too, And I'm like, yeah, but I have to
spend like eighty bucks to get that, so that's not really a deal.
So no, just charge me, yeah, charge me sixty bucks a month
for it. I don't care, it's fine. Fuck you. And at
one point some dudes came to my door, and they're like, dude,
it's like free if we give you Basic cable. Did you get it?
Was just like it was just like some package upside, Like we'll tell them
that you said that you were gonna go switch to Direct TV, and we'll
get our fucking sale and you'll get free basic cable. I'm like, yeah,
all right, that sounds I'm like, you know what that that is
the amount of commitment to cable television free I'm willing to make is free?
What does that involve? A box? Yeah? So they sent me a
box. So that's basically what happened to me. I actually canceled the cable
and everything, and then talking to Drew, he's like, I got Basic
cable and this package and it's cheaper than what you're paying. So then I
called him up and was like, what the fucking can you give me this?
And they're like yeah, I was why didn't you say that on the
phone? I was canceling. Why would you charge me eighty dollars and this
one seventy? And they get what is wrong? So at one point they
basically bumped up the cost of my cable like by ten bucks, and they
said like oh right, well, that plan is now ten dollars more.
I'm like, that is not worth cancel it. It's like, really,
it's this promotional thing. Still do you're still getting this cheaper than anyone else?
Like, I don't care. It's ten dollars is literally more than I
willing to pay for the service and cancel it. They take it back down.
Well yeah, and they gave me the price again was it? Yeah?
I want went back to sixty. It's like fucking used car salesman stuff
going on. It's so crazy. It's not the industry that you think that's
it's it's all about you. Yell, you say, I'm gonna cancel,
Like, well, let's give it to you if you're cheaper for a year.
Okay, who are you? What authority do you have? Are you
Bob Comcast? Like podcast was my father? It's like, what is WILLI
in dealing? Like that's what I'm Robert Comcast the third that's the authority you
have? Comcast guy, Well, what do you want to pay? Really?
I don't know that's what I'm paying now. I moved. I moved
to a new unit in my building and call them to let them know about
the address change. I'm like while I was on the phone, they were
like, we're gonna go ahead and cut your bill in half for the next
six months. I'm like, what, I even as think there's these weird
things of just like they're like internal promotions, and I feel like there's got
to be some sort of like commission or quota for dudes where it's like you've
got to upsell at least bloody blow of these things. Because the dudes that
came to my door to like upsell me on the cable, we're not Comcast
employees. These were just more like contract field dudes. Like these were a
couple of shady looking dudes driving around in an unmarked days of the shady cable
guy. Yeah, then I'll get you every channel. I lived out in
the Sticks, we didn't. We had to fight to get basic cable like
run to our house, so never had the sweet shady I just think this
whole cable thing is so crazy right now. Yeah, well, I I
you know, I hope more people realize because like it takes a little more
work to do what you're doing, but ultimately you find out, like man,
I can spend so much less money to get exactly what I want.
So I've gone from I've gone from a two hundred dollar bill down to what
hopefully it's around the seventy dollars bill. Yeah and so and I also I
also bought my own modem now, so I had to the triple play,
which was the phone and everything. So I got rid of the phone.
I want to use a different phone thing, a different solution which should be
free. Uh. And then by doing that, I'm able to buy just
the modem now that doesn't have the voice over IP and it for myself.
You just go by that sh and I just did, and I just bought
it, and I don't have to pay the stupid rental seven dollars. I
did that. I did that when I first signed up. Was I just
went and said, like Motorol surfboard, Yeah, exactly what I just my
dots is three and it's like, damn it, I'm still paying the stupid
Just get four dollars a year for the motor the stupid. It was literally
the first thing I did. Was probably paid like three hundred dollars to them.
In the last three years, I forgot about the craziest thing that happened.
I bought my family like a Roku box, and so we're on there
right. Yeah, we're the fourth top rated app on ro yep, guess
the top three about it to now top rated, not most downloaded, top
rated, top rated Netflix? No not Netflix. Tested the Mormon channel,
the Catholic channel, and uh damn what was the what was the third one?
So some other like political thing. So it's like we looked like some
weird and then Whiskey, then Giant Pop. We are not yet bigger than
Jesus. Yeah, but test it was on there too, so I felt
like, I know they're pretty high, but we'll represented well. I felt
fairly nice in front of my family, So thanks everybody for rading. No,
it seriously like Roku legitimizing, legitimizing this job to like immediate family.
It has been working wonders and it's like, look see it's on your TV
right there, so he pressed that button. Yeah that's me. I'm shocked
what mainstream in roads Roku seems to be making. That's in particular came out.
It seemed like it was gonna cater so like to do it yourself and
droid like like you know people that like to update food where and they're like
you know, compile kurnels and stuff. But like it seems like everybody is
getting into this. Well it's it's you know, they figured it out first,
and you see everyone else like Apple, TV, phone line super quick.
You know Box he kind of does it too. It's just it's so
stupid and simple. It's just like the box itself is like you can't really
screw much up with the box. It's like it's got an HDMI Port'll get
into the HDMI ports. It's got an Ethernet port. You don't have Ethernet
used Wi Fi. That's whatever. That's fun, power good, right,
and then it just you pull it up. It's like, oh yeah,
it's like the four buttons on this remote. The amount the amount of overlapping
those services is staggering. Like like my parents got that new TV, yeah,
they and stay of getting a cable box, they bought an HDTVO and
had a cable card put in that, so they got that stuff. They
my dad has like like Roku. So yeah, that's kind of where that's
where I'm going. Like my dad bought a PS three over Black Friday because
it was cheap and he likes buying stuff, and I bought him the remote
for that thing, and I was like, well, now you got this
remote that'll do all your PS three stuff. I get there. The TV
has Netflix built into it, has a Netflix app in its Yeah, the
PS three obviously has Netflix, like everything does everything. I've got, Like,
I've got like four devices attached to my TV right now that can stream
movies. Like, yeah, they all do the same stuff, not just
the Apple TV is the only one they'll do this store right, the Apple
Yeah, they're they're Walt Garden stuff isn't effect uh see that That's the only
bummer is the Apple TV. Stuff. That's actually pretty good accents, pretty
good library. It's still expensive, but pretty good. But yeah, like
when I was looking at the Roku stuff, everything has like I was looking
at a Blu ray player and I was like, yeah, it's got Amazon
and Realku and you know, whatever else you want. I don't know,
we'll just throw it in there right now. Three D did not sell the
unit that we needed to sell. God were like this, people are talking
about Boxy, So I guess I don't know apps. Stop hoping that with
an install base. Now that like a little flesh out a bit. The
whole Roku and Hulu experience. I'm still trying the Hulu stuff. I don't
mind the commercials. My wife and mindset. I think if you if you
are like going for a specific piece of content that's on there, Yeah,
totally sense. Yeah it's a day later, but like I get it for
like I want these shows, they're only available this way. I still I
still wish they'd you know, you're paying them whatever eight bucks a month,
give me something for Christ's sakes. Yeah, well, like I said,
I don't, I understand. It's whatever. It's better than the one hundred
and thirty the Comcast, right. That's that's how phenomenally bad the cable model
is. Is that paying eight bucks a month for two shows. I just
need to convince my parents to get HBO so they can send me their HBO
go code. You guys really get Hbo is a lot of hay king.
I'm curious to see how that's gonna end up. Looking on on the three
sixty when that finally rolls out, if they would say, if HBO would
sell me directly like sixty dollars, the barrier are gonna be fucked with.
It's horrible. On Boxy, what is the HBO stuff because it basically just
launches up the browser. Well, that definitely won't happen on the three sixty.
But the problem with with the with that in the Bay Area is that
Comcast does not have a TV deal with HBO. They only have a mobile
deal with HBO. So part of the thing is like, you know,
you have to be signed up with HBO. Yeah, they don't have a
Comcast as a carrier of HBO. It's like usually you go and you you
know, punch in your your cable credentials to launch the app and it verifies
like, okay, you're an HBO subscriber. Here's all our stuff. You
can do that on the on like an iPad or whatever mobile devices. Yeah,
that's what I did. Yeah, through comcasts. Yeah, but if
you try to do that on your TV, it will not work. I
didn't know that it does not work on huh like TV ready device. Yeah,
they just they are able to see Nope, that's attached to a TV.
No, you can't use HBO go here. So that's a weird thing
on Hulu because like on some of the Hulu shows, they're like because Hulu
Plus basically they're big sell is like you need Hulu Plus for devices. That's
not that's what they're And so some shows they're just like, we don't want
to be on Hulu Plus because we don't we don't want to be on a
device that could be hooked up to a TV. Right, It's like,
who are you? Like, like, that's the commons, weirds media man.
Yeah, you're drawn them out slowly making it makes sense like look see
look, people will pay for last the wheels like grinding, like, oh,
you need to move just a little bit. Nope, nope, nope,
nope, nope. Just take it off the TV, reset everything back
to zero. Yes, we'll just we'll go back to you know, verbal
mythologies. That's do you want Vinnie plus, I'll tell you the good story.
He's the only one he's got playing a game I did. I played
a ton of sky Rim, still waiting for click with you Like I'm like
playing it oddly, I don't know telling about your character? What do you
want to know about my character? Tell me about your dude, So let
me tell you a story about my character. Okay, my character walks around
the towns of sky Rim, and I don't of sure, uh, And
it's part of Tamiel right, yeah, the world. Uh, she wasn't
sure if that was like a kingdom. And so my I've got stround sounds
set up in my living room because now I said, my PC's hooked up
there right onto the big TV and it's got the surround sound and I guess
it's either Skyrim or my setup. But my center channel is real low.
Right, So every time I walk up to a guy and you initiate a
conversation, it locks you into like pretty much like a forty five degrees on
each side. You can turn right, you can't, and it's kind of
exponentially slows down as you try to turn your head. So looking directly at
Brad trying to talk to him, its super low. Starts talking like this
because it's just my center channel. But as I turn over to the side,
it starts getting a lot louder. Yeah, that sounds like an audio
problem. So so as I every time I had a conversation with a guy,
I literally had to like talk into my good year, like lower my
head down. Well, maybe maybe your characters be your speakers also. Well,
so I think my center ch because I can do independent volume. I
never noticed it before. It was only in Skyrim. But it was just
like my wife is watching me play, and she's like, why every time
you talk to a guy you drift over to the side, like lower your
head down, like I think I got a bed. Yeah, keep talking,
what's keep going? What's that's going on? But as I'm doing that,
the people around me and Skyrim are like the most socially unaware of people
in the world, because all they do is run up behind you, like,
good job with cabbages, I love tomatoes. Looks like rain today,
Like don't talk to it, Like keep telling me about the daughter and the
dragon. Can I'm not trying to talk to these other people, and so
it's just equally as loud as everything that's coming in over here, So it's
like impossible to So finally I just blast up the center channel and it blocked
out everybody else. Uh, I don't know what's wrong, Like everybody wants
to make eye contact with you in Skyrim, Like it's almost like walking with
your head down, like don't look kind of sick, Like I'm fine,
I'm fine, Just keep going. I love to play songs. I'm a
bard. I don't want to hear about it. Keep walk straight yards stare
man and then everybody. I don't know why, but everybody in your front
pocket. Also, it's terrible. I hate walking around towns because it's just
and you know, I'm taking every quest. I ends everybody who runs up
to me. It's no no, no, no, no no no,
just I wish you could put your arms out. And how's the Vinny hording
going? Already? I'm playing on the PC. So my carry weight is
now about three thousand, so I just maxed it out. Yeah, give
Vinny carry weight equals like three hundred thousands. All the fun is putting all
that stuff in your home. I don't home. Yeah, I hadn't buy
a house. I went off on like side quest Land. Yeah, that's
I put that game. I haven't gotten anywhere in the did you guys at
least open up dragons? Yeah? I mean to kill him. Yeah.
Oh yeah, I'm like basically the dragon hunter. I just run around scaling
vertical cliffs on my Billy Goats slash horse and uh, I'm finding dragons.
I'm playing Fief four. Liked it. It's great. I'm like, oh
this is perfect and finally God being a thief. So my my guy is
uh I'm using one handed and uh a one handed weapon and basically switching my
left hand between magic and a shield occasionally. That's that's how I started out,
and like, I didn't really start enjoying the combat until I've focused on
one of those. So what you can't like in general, I don't you
can't really be a jack of tri l trades in that game. I'm trying
to have a lot of fun with any one of the dispoints. I like.
So you're using dual dual wheeled, so that's the thing, Like he's
going straight thief. I ended up going with the shield with some shield perks,
you have some blocking perks. So I've got like, uh, you
know, I'm getting up there, like my level is getting pretty pretty high.
I think I'm like twenty something and it's like I've got about four points.
I'm just sitting on at this point because I just you know, you're
waiting for your skill to hit like fifty or something because you want to drop
those points in uh, and there's just stuff I don't want to I don't
I don't have There's like seven magic trees and I'm like, I'm not I'm
only using destruction uh and restoration like the block. I'm not really putting points
in too right now, but I want to get all those one handed skills,
but like trade getting that up train so I had tons of money and
I just keep trying to train. But that's five per level. I don't
know. I'm having a tough time deciding what to put points into, what
I like using for combat. And I die so damn quickly. I'm heavy
armor, and I die so quickly with guys with two handed weapons, like
like two hits, and then one hit will take me down like seventy five
percent half and I'll be like shit, at that's a big well. And
then the animation goes in, and it's always like a question of like am
I gonna no? No, you decapitated me? Like okay, all right,
I don't know why is it like they're kreitting me? Is that what's
happening? Because it's too if they're too handed, Yeah, I mean they
do a lot of damage. Most of those guys, they're kind of like
the bosses of each little dungeon. Most of guys they've been too handed,
but they're just like guy, I get I get one shot, Like I'll
get one shot, So it makes it like really tense for me. Yeah,
I can take out like three guys with a bow and then you have
to deal with that. You get spotted, you're you're kind of screwed,
but you've got well until you run through the coast mechanic in the game,
so you can, you know, you strategize. It's fun. I don't
I like it. The comment to me is satisfied. I just have the
controller in my hands as amount of PC of control in my hand, keyboard
next to me, and just at five, oh controller, Yeah, I'm
just not controller and then just have fiving after kind of like every guy.
I killed that guy at five because you could die really quickly in the world.
There's no auto save, you know, unless you've been in the menu
or something like that. So every time you can set that interval when you
when you go into the character in you so like you'll run around the world
and like and then all of a sudden, I don't know why, but
my must be the same for you guys. Is everybody's a bandit. There's
like like that's a cool town over there. Hey, looks it looks like
there's somebody over here. Like fuck, like we'll go the other way.
Look at that like cool cross thing over there, the U I heard somebody
like the ruins and stuff, Yeah, are all occupied by unsavory types.
Yeah, I guess they're the ORC camps, which are in hostile out of
the gate if you do yeah, there's a question you can do that makes
the Orcs friendly to you. But yeah, it's just like so at this
point, I'm just on a horse, just like trying to uncover everything,
but like basically like getting a close enough to ur it goes ding, and
then like running the other way because I don't want to like fight all those
dudes yet. Because you could spend hours in a random tomb, and so
it's weird. I'm having a weird time. I can spend hours in a
random tomb. Like when I get to the end of the random tomb,
it's kind of easy to go through, and there's this one where it's just
like fighting my way through it. I don't know why. Jesse was like
going that to him and I was like, okay, I'll go in that
to him, and it was like an hour later, It's like I don't
know what the hell's in here, Like I can't pick up any more goddamn
cabbages, like I don't know what I'm doing in here. And then I
get to the end and there's this dude laid back in a throne, this
like undead guy laid like kind of in a throne. It gets up and
like kills me in one shot, and I was like, well, fuck
you off. Of course I'm gonna fight you, because like, I'm not
gonna run away. So what I've been doing for most of the game is
finding the traps that are in the dungeons, like those those things that the
doors with the spikes on him that just slam on you, and they're pressure
plated. So what I do is I just cite the guys back to the
pressure plate door and then I smash him in the door. So I was
like, I'm gonna bring this guy back to the pressure because it's I've never
heard of anybody playing that way and it sounds completely broken to play though.
Yeah, well it's like, well, I'm just gonna bring you. This
has worked for ninety percent of the guys in his dungeon, so I'm just
gonna cut you back. He hits his invisible bounding the end of his string
and just stops at the end of the bridge. Maybe he was just maybe
I'm not coming about like set those traps? Do you think put that?
I was like, come on, if you're gonna stand, I'm just I've
got about two hundred arrows, so fine with arrows on, okay. And
so about an hour later after he died with his two hundred arrows, I
was like, all right, well, how do you have on? He's
got kind of a cool sword and that was cool. So I was like,
wow, that was really hard. Walk upstairs and then there's just it
was like the tomb of Baltimortar or something. It was like walk upstairs and
like there was a dragon word it was a word there, but no dragon.
And then this tomb opens up, this kind of cohib opens up,
and this super hard dude comes out. It just starts rusting me with fire.
So I boosh him to like the end of the cliff, like foosh
foosh, uh, and then he falls outside of the cliff. So I
just hit him with the other two hundred arrows I have, uh, and
killing I got a mask that lets me breathe. Those one of the dragon
priests. Okay, so those guys, those guys are fixed level. They're
supposed to be really really hard. They're supposed to be and I was like,
I don't know what I'm doing here, but like it sounds like a
RPG to me, But like I had no idea what I was doing,
and so that's kind of what I've been doing, is like, well,
I know, I kind of know it's a bethesa the game, so I
know there's a way I can beat this guy, Like I just need to
get behind the rock in the right way and have enough arrows or like I
know that he's not going to come past a certain point. So like everybody
I find is there's always a way to beat him. It's just a matter
of how much time do you want to spend and how much you feel like
you're just gonna change the game, which is kind of what it's come down
to, unfortunately for me, is like you get kind of like cool loot
and the mask is kind of cool. It is, Unfortunately it's the light
armor. I'm all heavy armor, and I get that perk for heavy armor.
I'm doing the doing the thieves guild stuff. Now. It's actually really
fun that this question are well done, but it's just not I'm still just
getting frustrated with parts where I'm like, I think I'm doing really well,
but I'm still having a tough time in certain spots really easy time and other
spots. Uh, and it's just completely uneven, and a couple of you
will talk to you just like you should go through the story more to to
kind of move things along. So maybe I just need to do that.
And then I tried to shield because it was like, two handed guys are
killing me. I use a shield. I mean, you can mitigate most
are all the damage if you block properly. I think I need to put
points in the block though, because it's it's staggering me too much every time
I get hit. I never get staggered anymore. I would recommend spending those
six points or whatever that you're hoarding. Yeah, well I should, right,
because because I keep thinking it's gonna where the shield. Combat really got
interesting for me when I got the perk that slows down time when they're about
to do a power hit on you. Oh that sounds that gives you the
chance to shield. I don't know if you even know. Yeah, like
just basically pull the right there in the middle of the power attack and it
slows down. You just bash them with the shield and you get the slum
with the boy. That sounds cool. I should developed that more. It
gets really fun. It sounds a lot better than like hiding behind a tree.
Shooting three hundred arrows into do sounds awful. Well, it's cool when
you think you're gonna get something awesome. It was like, that's kind of
well. Like I said, those guys, as far as I know,
are like fixed levels, so you could just come back. I'd beat two
of them the same way if everyone wants my strategy guide of how to behind.
My wife started cracking up every time. I just like, why do
you keep you Why do you have to yell bush every time? Like I
think it's foush, but it sounds like boush. And so every time I
would kill a dude with the trap, I would just trigger the bush sounds
just because the door closed up. Bosh. It was funny. This was
funny, household. That was fun excellent. I played Old Republic. What
do you think? Where are you? I got a part of that.
Yeah, Vindego, where's Vindego? Where Lancer or whatever? What? What?
What server are you on? I can't remember the name of the server.
It's not the one that you guys said it was. It was like
way too high. Yeah, my tricks are really high. Actually, I've
chopped on there a couple of times last weekend and no, wait whatsoever.
It's just if you get lucky, it's like peek out. Yeah, yeah,
there's not I'll only make a character on it. But I just wanted
to jump in and try it. If you do, let me know,
because I'm I'm only level seven and I would I would like to play,
but I have no wady to play with. Are you imperial or I have
both on there? But I guess see if this is what everybody's playing,
Okay, there there is a GB like Republic now Kessler run is the imperial
team? I can't know. There's there's a there's a separate guilt. We
have bothons? Is the name of That's right? Good luck have bothons.
Is it weird that there are they let you do imperial and rebel? Yeah?
Kind of strange, because wow, it doesn't I thought I thought it
was like inmost standard not to let you do that. Yeah, uh,
it's you know, whatever. It was Actually it was interesting and then uh
and then it wasn't and then it wasn't you know, it was interesting until
you realize that you're you know, doing the fetch quests and then kind of
working your way up and you know, the story stuff was Okay, I'm
playing a rebel, uh, the Jedi rebel. I think that there are
some better than average like MMO quest designs still like qualified as like these are
MMO quests, like this is the format. We're not breaking any crazy rules
here, but I you know, I it's I felt like it was worth,
you know, cracking those bones open for the story stuff. You're right,
there are some neat objectives there of like of like and I really do
think like you know, the say what you will about what BioWare this is
like there's some solid writing in there, and especially like the I tell you
that I didn't play too much it over the break, but the Imperial Asian
stuff just like goes in really cool directions. Needs to dig in a little
deeper. Yeah, my story as a Sith is interesting. There's Warrior Warrior,
yeah like that stuffs getting a litt with a different masters kind of Well,
it's interesting because you get into the darths and just realize how fucking insane
all of the Sith area, there's a definite BioWare fields because you're not even
because like in all these early levels, I'm sure it opens up some,
but all those early levels, like you're dealing with zero Republic stuff. It's
just all like everything's all fucked up inside the Empire man, like we we
like internal well, there's like there's the separation of like there's the Empire,
which is like you know, star destroyers and stormtroopers and ship and then there's
the Sith and they are like aligned, but the sixth priorities are not the
same as the Imperial priorities. Sith is actually also a straight up race.
It's not just like hey, if you're a bad Jedi, you're a Sith.
It's like, no, there are people who are genetically called Sith.
It's just that anyone else that decides to, you know, get down with
the dark side of the Force becomes called a Sith at some point. It
is, Yeah, space racism in that game is phenomenal. It's it's right
in your face, our side stuff. I think that stuff like from what
I saw, like I saw just a little bit during the beta of the
Republic stuff, and it didn't grab me the Imperial stuff I think is,
yeah, the Republicans way better. It just seems better if you tried gone
through the republic stuff at very little. Okay, I got kind of up
to the part you have like a wooden lightsaber or whatever for the beginning of
you guys read the books and stuff like the fan fition, well fan like
Timothy's on stuff like that the target are you talking about the specifically the like
the Air of the Empire stuff? Well, just like the books, did
you back when I was like fifteen, Like where like Leia and Han have
kids and oh yeah they have twins like that starts Jedi trilogy is fairly well
regarded, but like most of the recent Expanded Universe stuff is the stupidest shit
you ever seen. Ever. Isn't that where the Chiss come from? I
don't even know what that is. Probably there's the weird whatever the gecko things
that blocked the force. Like when I had to I had to stop looking
at anything about it when I found out that they're like the Emperor has a
grandson with three eyes and his name's like Triclops or something like like literally has
like a third and then like at some point they go find the Glove of
Darth Vader. Oh, and it's like some kind of like immensely evil dark
side artifact that gives you all this power or something like. It just sounds
like that. I have not indulged. My little brother liked some of that
stuff. Who's the guy at the blue face? What's thrown? Right?
But it's great. There's like Lando Calrissian chronicles where you find out like who
that like fish looking dude is and the guy with the weird thing around his
head. It's in Cloud City. It's great. It's all right, it's
glory, Yeah, of course it is, but it's fun. Yeah,
I don't know. I'm sorry. Is that G cannon or as cannon?
Oh geez, I don't know what that means. There's like there are like
five sac levels of the city. Yeah, it's I'm I'm a Jedi.
I'm a would be Jedi. My guy's like uber, like the best Jedi
uh in the farm system, the Jedi far. I still have my wooden
one. Yeah, I don't have lights, but I would like. I
think most classes can heal. They're all healing classes. I think there's maybe
one or two classes. I just want to make a Holy Priest together,
I mean the Sifth Warrior that I'm playing, Like, you know, you
have specialize at what was a level ten when you pick Yeah, like I
will either become a DPS or a tank, but even I have like an
n a like stand still and get all your tip points back, yeah,
I mean seconds and and as Yeah, the Imperial Agent, I can straight
up just cast heels. But is there like a dedicated healer. I bet
the Jedi has. Well, there's like specializing just like one of three paths
that you can choose, and when you start committing down that, then you
can throw down some mad heels deside, Like Okay, I'm go, like
I even have it just a straight up like it's it's a healing tree for
the Imperial Agent class. You know. What I was actually really surprised by
was the intro movie, which is kind of fairly long, but I'll seen
it before, but it I feel like, just maybe coming from Blizzard,
I feel like the Wow intro movie even for every expansion kind of shows you
like, here's what your mind's eye thinks your character is gonna look like,
and what you're gonna do, and like check out everybody they're all awesome,
and in the older Republic one, it was like, here's what Jedies do,
and they are going to be way better than every other class out there.
So why would you want to pick this Republic commando because he would die
if it weren't for Jedi. And it's like, Okay, pick the Jedi.
Don't play as a smuggler or anything else, because according to your intro
movie, they're kind of they kind of totally pick one of the subclass.
I don't want Why don't you want to be the hero of a universe'?
That's honestly, I think that's it's it's the it's the I think the fallacy,
the idea of like what everyone just wants to play as the hero.
It's like, I think if you're interested in playing an MMO, like you
want to you want to be like I want to be the every dude I
like, yeah, someone like yeah, Luke Skywalker's running around having his heroic
adventure in this universe. But I don't have to be that dude. But
I don't. I don't want to be a dude that like I run up
against somebody else And it's like, hey, Jedi, you want to help
me on this quest because I'm just a smuggler. Jedis need smugglers for what?
How do they They can't run the kessel run unless than ten parts.
They don't have to run, they walk it. But that's I mean,
that's my point. Everyone has a has a position to play. I guess
I should try the different classes. I'll go back in. I mean whatever,
I'm sure it's balanced. I've guaranteed that what I think it is.
I mean, I'm just using I've got like, you know, close range.
I'm basically are you a smuggling, I'm basically a rogue Imperial agent,
which is the bad guy smuggler. Yeah, I can go into cover and
I can you know, backstab and all the kind of the the roguey stuff
that you would expect to do. Yeah, it's all it's all like good
like clot Like the storyline is all good cloak and daggers stuff like just I
mean maybe the Jedi just stuff I'm doing is just kind of a little space
combat Stuff's pretty good. I haven't seen that stuff. It's various on rails.
It's like a yeah, point point and click. Jeff compared it to
a flash game, which I think is maybe a little harsh, but I
don't know. It's it's somewhat rebel assaulty oh mms. Yeah, I'll go
back in it. It's still interesting. It's still I'm still poking at it
with sticks. I think Jeff is in deep. I'll be curious to see
what he has to say when he comes back. Yeah, he's I think
he's been playing hard wow. Uh and yeah, and he's and he's still
he's still off for another week, so he was already he yeah, he
hit twenty before the break, uh, because he Yeah, he played crazy
that first week. He was pushing thirty by the time I left too.
I'm real, real, real. I think I'm like, I'm seventeen.
Jeff raids probably just about the scary. That's no way. Well could you
imagined that? Could you imagine Jeff coming in and talking about like taking down
like some raid boss for like four hours. Yeah, he's like, oh,
I bought a bunch of goal older whatever the equivalent is, what is
the current credit creds? Yeah, man, that'd be nuts. Well,
there's that flashpoint stuff, which is just like the small instance party stuff,
and he's done a fair amount of that. But he just over levels his
His solution is just be way too powerful for the encounter and then just breeze
through it. He's not interested in strategizing and ringing the most out of the
MMO combat. He is about pressing one and then pressing two and then pressing
five, isn't it, I guess. But he just you know, when
people talk about strategy and MMO combat, they're talking about like team coordination and
forced my way through this with yeah. Yeah, he's just like, I'm
just gonna hit it with hammers until it's dead everything. That's kind of how
I do it too, But Anya he rolls like you know. Adam Boys
from Beefy Media is also way deep into that game and way over leveled.
Also, I'd like to thank Adam Boys for sending us his top five games
of twenty eleven. Thank you for following that assignment super well. Adam,
I might have just read that derisively at some point. Did not go up.
No, I didn't put it up. I didn't forget it for five
lists because here's the thing. I actually rejected submissions from people, good industry
people, people who would have been awesome to have lists from, because they're
like, I can't come up with ten. I can't come up with five
tie. There are so many ties in there. Number eight tie between two
games. I'll let him, but that's too much. That's double the work,
I guess. So it's hard. It's hard. It is hard,
hard for the for the people that chose the ties. I was willing to
let that slide, but yeah, then a list came in. I already
couldn't pick ten, so here's five. Also, I'm going to Canada.
See you actually kicked it to john He acknowledged that he only picked five.
Yeah, He's like, oh, I couldn't pick ten, so I picked
five instead. Hope that works. You should have just filled now. I'm
leaving the country for two weeks. Thanks Adam. So I actually kicked it
to Johnny. I said, hey, Johnny, if you can finish Adam's
top ten for him, whatever you want there, man, I just need
a top ten list number six to evolution. So I actually I do want
to thank everyone who love that a guest top ten lists. Those were awesome.
Those were awesome. Thank you for putting all that stuff together, for
the for the the We've had people who have submitted in the past. You
know what biggest props to two people. First off to mister Eric Wallpap because
he actually approached us. Yeah, we had already started rolling out the feature.
I had never asked him. I had never thought asked him. Actually
felt really bad about that after the fact. He said, Hey, I
saw that you're doing these these lists. Can can I get in on this?
I'm yes, yes, yes, Eric kidding. I treasure every time
I get to read anything, so, uh, he just came in.
He's like, yeah, give me a couple days and all I've got some
stuff I want to get off my chest. And you awarded him with a
completely silly deck about himself. Yes, well, he like it's like just
reading his I'm like, this is just such a I mean, Brad can
can late to the giddiness when when Eric Walpaw was freelancing reviews for game Spot
or ever, whenever a Walpaw review would come down the pipe and it's like,
all right, we gotta you know, peer edit this, uh this
review before it goes up like this. Eric Walpaw reviews are always gonna be
aweso because it's gonna be the worst game, it's gonna be the funniest review.
Even the email thread where he wrote in asking if he could do a
list. Yeah, it was like the stuff that's in that thread email isn't
god damn funny, And and he delivered on that. So I'd like to
thank him. I would also like to thank David Jaffee's assistant, Q,
who has the heart of a champion. As far as I can tell,
she uh she managed to make sure Jaffee was was basically touch and go for
the entire time that that I was talking about having him do a top ten
list. But she was able to to wrangle Her name's Q. Well,
her full name is something else, but she goes by Q. That's cool.
Uh yeah, and she's awesome and she really helped make that come together.
So I thought that was awesome to you know, finish off with with
Greg and with the Jaffee That was yeah. Yeah. And although this were
really entertaining in this year and everybody did, yeah, they were, you
know what, we actually have a few stragglers as far as top tens.
Paul Barnett still wants to come in here and yell about eleven and you know,
it was it was one of the things my wife really loved this year
about it was just like she's like, these are interesting perspectives on like what
games people are playing. So I think next year I may I may trim
it down to five because there were some some good lists that I had to
say, Ah, you know, we really wanted to do we m do
we get to do five? So hard? Well, because you know,
a lot of the times it's it's developers who are shipping games in that year,
and you know it's I understand, Yeah, it's not your job to
play games. So I could see how you might not have ten favorite games
to talk about this year. That stuff is great. Some folks did so
thanks to everyone. You guys were all totally awesome and and those lists rocked
except for the people who picked out you know who you are. I've been
a Skyward sword. Yeah, put it back on Patrick's desk. I saw
that. Yeah you're done. Yeah, I mean the deliberations are coming up.
We really should put some Yeah, what's going on with Dragon ball z?
Yes? Remember like in the freeze of Saga where you're like, what
the fuck is going on? It's pairing up for like seven episodes and then
you don't do it, you wink and fuck are you talking? That's like
Zelda. That's like, that's like the that's what happens for We're just like,
what am I even doing like three times in a row anymore? Like
I don't even know what this is? Like petted out to be fifty The
game took like over fifty hours for me to be wow, And I'm like,
but what am I suck filler? Like you didn't have a great sense
of like I'm on this epic question and I need to go get this next
piece. It was like go back here? Do you forgot to do something?
And then do it three more times? And I was like why why?
I don't know, because we need to add twenty hours in here,
and like, okay, well I did that. You know what though,
you know it would be awesome if you did three more times this other fight
you did before, And it's like, come on, really, I guess
he's back. He's a cannon. This guy kill him three times and like
it's a large octooc I might as well be. I just by at the
end of that game, I was just like, damn it, boy,
just this is patted out. This is too long for its own good.
Interesting, It's not a perspective I've heard on that game. There are great
parts in it, but I was I was struggling to make it through.
Before a book, I probably wouldn't have finished. I would have having a
tough time. And at the end, did you win? I did win?
Everybody win? Yeah, what happens everybody? And you know that stuff
that Patrick was talking about about. I didn't want to spoil whatever, whatever.
I don't think it's that well, it's it's it's just a It feeds
into that idea of like there being some greater Zelda continuity, which get the
funk out of my face with that. You know what, there's not one
continuity. Yeah, there's three. Once you see that official like officially they
had been like it branches, they are paralleled universes and you just forget it.
Oh well, so it doesn't matter. You can just said it didn't
matter. Instead of acting like it matters. You could just say it doesn't
matter. Each want to tell story just right like games and enjoy what you're
officially like well brand just it's all going on some of like no, okay,
I don't need to pay attention anymore, got it? So you don't
know either, I would have I would have really just appreciated it if you
had just said that death that you're making it up. Just say that it's
fine, it's okay, it's not bad that you're just you don't need to
come on this one. And it came out on the game Boy hardly remembers
it. We understand people like these games. It makes sense for you to
keep making it right. That's good enough, because I was actually one of
those people that was like, I really at one point in my life,
I was like, I'm gonna play every Zelda game in chronological order, and
I'm gonna make it through because I kind of want to understand what this is
coming from a fool's errand yeah and uh and now for them to officially acknowledge
that, I feel justified and being like whatever. And so this one is
to come athletes from playing the majority of the Zelda games out there, not
all of them, because there are a ton of them. Yeah, I
really did think this was this This drug was dragging on way too long and
was not very entertaining. Yeah, that's my opinion. Interesting. Yeah,
I don't like motion controls any non Sky games. Nope, sky Rim Sky
uh, Sky Republic no, uh no, Skylanders. I'm trying to think
if I played anything on the consoles. Besides, I thought i'd turned my
three sixty on, but I guess not. I played the very littlest bit
of Space Marine, which uh a little clunky, but I like there's stuff
I like about it. I'm dave. I'm still surprised at how much you
like that game. Dude, just run, all you gotta do is run
and so silly blow your shoulder like into like one hundred dudes. I just
really do like It's when I first saw it was like, man, this
game looks amazing. These fights are awesome and everything just explodes constantly. But
yeah, I really do wish there was a little bit more to the melee
combat because I like doing that. I like just like running headlong into the
groups and then it's like all right, once I'm here, there's not really
a ton It's it's more just like life bar management of like, okay,
they're starting to knock. Oh, okay, I need to do a combo
to well is worthless? Worthless? Well? My biggest, my biggest complaint.
If I hadn't played a little bit of like with the Quick Look with
with Vinny, I would have no fucking idea what's going on, because Vinny,
you're the one who told me, like, all right, so Titans
are this and Forge Worlds are that, and like, okay, I actually
understand a little bit about you know, the Warhammer forty k universe going into
this. If I didn't have that that little primer from you playing the game
on my own, i'd have fucking no idea what's going on. I really
like that game too, but but I do think the melee stuff is where
it falls apart, because the mechanic in it where you get your health back
from doing as melee kills is vital to playing that game. Oh yeah,
but there's only like three animations. I think the reason I liked it all
so much was because it was made by Relic and because I liked the RTS
game so much that it felt like it it like in those games, Like
really, well you were at ground level when when you use the jet pack
in that game, I was like, oh, yes, it's the same
exact Yeah, it was reminiscent of that. I was gonna say that the
jet pack sequences, I don't know how many of there are, but those
were my favorite parts of the game because when you're that mobile and you can
do like the hover and then like that was one. I was really having
fun in that game, so I thought, it's kind of a shame you
didn't have access to that. They come up. They come up like maybe
five one every three levels or something. Yeah, that game. So I'm
glad you jump back in. Yeah, I'll probably finish that now. But
did you get up to the space marine and the chaos stuff. I know
I'm about to get to that though. It actually changes I met the dude
okay, yeah, okay, yeah, because it because it goes from dude
in the tower or the dude with the super weapon or whatever. Yeah,
I think I left off right before that. You're pretty close to the end
of the game. Then it's a short game. It can't be that short.
It's short. It's pretty sure what you after? Are you on?
I had like eight eight The kind of stuff is only about two levels,
two or three levels. But the combat changes a bit. Okay, whatever.
I met the guy who's clearly going to become the evil guy at some
point. I'm like, you're even for an imperial. Yeah. It was
an inquisitor, isn't it. Yeah, Yeah, well he looks evil.
He's an inquisitor. He's called an inquisitor and also he has exposed metal on
his face or whatever. Yeah, yeah, Ordos Zenos Dude. That's my
favorite thing about all that stuff is like the Latin the sound like yeah,
like I don't know what the adeptos started are, but it sounds I know
it is. But like it's like when they talk about the Codex. I
also like the stuff that the Codex talks about about, like you know,
not whatever, not you know, jumping into not using jet packs to jump
into a battle or whatever. Like that's kind of weirdly specific things for like
this religious this supposedly religious text to uh, it's it is interesting kind of
going back and some of the fiction leading up to it. It we hammer
stuff is actually kind of interesting. And they talk about just like, oh,
you interpret the Codex so narrowly. It's just like I think the Ultramarines
are the ones who wrote the Codex after the Horace heresy. So I think
you are an ultramarine, aren't you? You are an ultramarine? You are?
Yeah. I just really like not having to hide behind barricades. That
was the big wins in that series. That was it. You said the
weight I just love that. Wait, I love everything waste. Everyone is
tough, relictis shoulder pads very well. Yeah. But more than that,
I played a whole lot of Miss pac Man because I got a Miss pac
Man machine. What did I did? I did? Who's yeah? My
my girlfriend? It basically one Christmas forever. Yeah, just whipped my ass
at Christmas because I was broken shit, so I didn't get a ton of
stuff. And then comes around and here is a full size Miss pac Man
cabinet stand up, stand up, wow and lean crazy clean. You actually
got to come up and see it because I will again shout out to mister
Steve Lynn because like early early on, like months and months ago, girlfriend
asks like, Hey, what do you want for Christmas? And I'm like,
I don't know, Like a fucking Miss pac Man machine. That would
be cool. That would be that would be a cool thing that I wouldn't
buy for myself because it would be crazy. And she started looking at it.
She's like, I don't know if I could do that because I'm looking
on like Craigslist, and I'm like, okay, don't first off and stop,
don't do that. I'm you know, I'm gonna kind of point you
in the direction of this dude, and you know, walk away, I
will walk away. I will turn away from that. And I've like I
did that. I completely forgotten about it. I figured that it was it
was dead in the water. But my girlfriend teamed up with the with Steve.
Where you put it. It's right in the middle, like middle of
the living room, just like you walk in. It is against the wall.
That's all the way, not all the way. Middle is answerous business
and lady, yeah, yeah, exactly exactly it was. And I guess
she got a screaming deal on ap parry. There are collectors out there that
are pissed that I have this thing, because there was there was interest in
this and uh, and some negotiations happened. I don't know. I don't
know the exact story. No one will tell me, Joy, no one.
No one would tell me about that. But how was it wrapped?
No, the head a bow on it because Steve, because I had to
coordinate with Steve because he had to come. And Okay, it wasn't like
in your house waiting for you, No, no, no, no,
it was it was like she told me, And it's like, all right,
that's because she had been telling me before, like, hey, you
need to be home one day this next week? What day works best for
you? Okay, ask you guys questions. Okay, So let's say you
sell something on Craigsis. So I was the seller in this case and I
sold a desk and then person comes with like a Jetta to pick up a
desk. Yeah, what do you do? Do? You say? What
are you How are you going to get this out of here? Yeah that's
what I said, yeah, and say They're like, oh no, it'll
fit it. And like I'm like what, Yeah, there's no way that's
going in there. And then so I leave, I get the money.
Yeah, wait, what did you do with the desk? I was giving
them the desk. I sold the desk to them. Where where was it?
Not in your apartment or house? It was. I had taken it
down to the street so they could easily put it in this jetta. So
you got the money and walked away. Yeah. So I was like,
yeah, any help or something? And I was like and I was like,
there's no way they're fitting that in that in that car. Yeah,
And of course they don't. And it's like thirty minutes in and you can
hear like boyfriend girlfriend and yelling at each other. So what do you do?
And you own a truck? You say, hey, guys, is
there something I could do? What if they live in Santa Rosa as far?
Is that two or three hours from me from you, depending on traffic?
Our fifteen you. I think what you say is like, hey,
guys, like, uh, we neither rent a truck. I can give
you a lift down there and like end it like that the dot dot dot
and then hopefully they'll be drove that I drove to Santa drove to Santa give
me more money. No, that's weird. It was you wouldn't ask.
She was like nineteen or so, ask but didn't offer. It's really excited
about the desk with the boyfriend. Did you make this? Her sit in
this truck with you? And the boyfriend drove they there. I followed behind
them. She d like forty five miles an hour. Made that trip take
extra worse. Oh it was terrible. I don't get on money. Let's
how can we make this work? I feel like, well, I have
to. I have to sell a bed and a frame, so I'm gonna
have some Craigslist adventures. I had to get rid of that TV, that
giant TV, and that kind of similar thing happened to me. I was
explicit in the email, but I always I always am about that of like,
hey, this is four hundred pounds, bring a big car, bringing
whatever, and I still have to carry that TV down because the guys who
became couldn't carry it. So I don't know, you'd be a nice guy.
You're a nice guy, yeah, guy, Yeah, I think they're
just have gotten rid of it over extend. And that's why you do for
Craigslist, right, because you're like, I don't care, it's two dollars,
just take this off my hands. I don't want to deal with it,
Like I don't. I'm like, best fastest offer gets it. I
don't care. It's just I have a giant thing. I need to get
rid of it. And it sucks when you wind up being like I still
have to deal with this. Yeah, I'm trying to give this away for
free so I don't have to deal with this. Yeah, it sucks.
But I had a uh my roommate when I lived in San Francisco had this
like similar like you know, three hundred pound giant old like you know,
municipal desk that was impossible to move, Like we could barely fit it out
of the apartment door, and for free. You couldn't get rid of that
fucking thing. Yeah, like the head of the board of education behind Oh
yeah, it had like you know the wood, like the wood paneled surface,
but then like you know, metal drawers underneth It was just you know,
you could shoot fucking tank bullets out at least when you know, yeah,
that's the thing that's gonna drop through the floor immediately and crush the person
underneath. That will form. Yeah, it's gonna start the triangle from above
what you'd be a nice guy. Yeah, I'm sure they were nice people,
right, they were. They were all right. It shows up with
like a small car for a desk. I just have to wonder a little
did you put the dimensions or picture one dimensions and pictures? I was like,
it's a desk with the jets. What were you thinking? Yeah,
you can put the Jetta in the desk and then you guys can figure out
how to get that on. It was just so dumb that I felt like
I was scared a little bit. Oh, like she's gonna start crying on
your lawn. Well, no, I mean they said out there for they
gave us some money and let me walk away. They're eating dinner, like
listening to people, like arguing, and you came back outside. They never
came back there. I came back outside. What do you think would have
happened. I think it probably would. They would have had to rent a
truck or something maybe, or maybe they would have or something like, hey,
well, that's right. The girl was trying to trade hip hop dance
lessons to one of her friends to come pick it up, and then you
declined it's Santa Rosa. No right now at a moment like would you show
me a move? I want to know I'm getting it first. Lesson here,
let's go on the streets. If you can't hip hop dance on the
street, you can't and hip hop dance anywhere. What good are you prove
yourself. I want to give this away to one of our users. Three
hugs. I'm more amazed you got your machine shipped to you. That always
seems like the biggest hassle in getting in arcades. Part of the part of
the deal, that's part of the gift was amazing and and Steve and Steve
got what that coy quarters. Did you drop in? Oh, I it's
I don't have it set to free play. I am it is quarter operated.
I'm actually thinking about getting token coin mesh so that I can get So
there's uh like one, I can't remember which one, but I think I
actually have a Flynn's Arcade at Disneyland right now, and they use tokens that
say Flynn's Arcade on them and they yeah, yeah, yeah, they look
fucking radical. I want to change the coin mes to operate on that,
but right now it's just on Quarters because the the attract screen doesn't play when
you have it on free play. It's just just flashes the maze, So
I want the full attract thing. It's fun putting charters in, yeah,
the cluck here to hit the bucket, and then when you run out of
quarters, you gotta act like the arcade to operator and pull out keys.
I keep my arcade keys on my regular keys chains, get the keys out.
Feel it feels authentic, but god damn it is it in good crazy
crazy good shape. The so uh sides are original, like original, like
it's got that spray painted uh you know, stencil. To look to it,
you can see a little bit of like overspray on on certain elements of
it. You can also see a little bit of like handwear kind of like
you know, where you'd stand up and you'd put your hand up on the
side or kind of down near because you know, it's just a joystick game.
The other one for pizza the other hand is your your off hand is
free. Uh so it's got a little bit aware there, but not too
much. The coolest feature on the cabinet for me though, is the like
the top of the machine itself, like you have to kind of you have
to either be tall or kind of get up and around the back and look
at it. You could tell that it was originally supposed to be the side
to a Sinistar cabinet because it has like the first pass of a Sinistar like
on the top. But like it got Boston, They're like, ah fuck,
it just used that piece of wood, cut it this way and put
it on the top. So you can like how you can tell like,
no, this is the original dam cabinet. There's some some stuff has obviously
been been reprode for the like front panel stuff like that would have been worn
away. You can also tell because it has the Namco copyright on it,
which Miss pac Man was not a Namco game. Miss pac Man was originally
a pirate ass bootleg ass, even the all their kid machines. So I
did a little bit of research about this. I didn't know the full story.
I knew that it was basically, you know, Midway was the US
licensor of pac Man from Namco. So Midway was making all their crazy pac
Man bucks when that stuff was happening here in the States, and so they
were you know, Jones and for a follow up from from Namco and weren't
getting one. Meanwhile, there's this other company, I Galactic Galaxy, I
can't remember the name of a global communication coin up something. Uh that they
had been making bootleg upgrade kits for other cabinets, like they had made you
saw some of this at California Extreme like Supermissile Attack. Yeah, so that
so that stuff, those were basically like upgrade kits made by people that were
not the copyright holders, and they were so it's like this game isn't Missile
Command, but it basically is Missile Command. So that's how they had started.
And so they had done or Supermissile Attack and it started making conversion kit
for pac Man that was called Crazy Auto, so it would be like,
you know, same basic ideas pac Man, but none of the same sprits,
none of the same assets. And they had just made a deal with
with Atari saying all right, Atari is not going to see you into oblivion,
but you have to stop making these bootleg you know, these these non
licensed upgrade kits. So like, well, we already started work on Crazy
Auto. We can't do anything with it. They go and show it to
Midway. Midway was like, great, give us that, we're going to
turn that into a new pac Man game and put it out there. And
so they bought this thing from from these guys who had been working on on
Crazy Auto, turned it into Miss pac Man and shipped it and recognized it
is the best pac Man. So yeah, it's great. It's fucking awesome.
Jokes aside. The difference is there's there's a few there's well, so
well there's always fruit fruit fruit moves in Miss pac Man moves and then so
ghosts. Uh no, so fruit would in pac Man stays in one spot
on the maze. In Miss pac Man, it just moves around the maze
and in a pattern. The same number of ghosts, but the uh,
but one of them becomes Sue. It goes from Clyde to see. There's
a story there is there's a little story of how pac Man and Miss pac
Man meet and and come together that's played in the act breaks. I think
there's more mazes. I believe there's different mazes. There's different mazes, and
I believe more mazes, and there's three or maybe four mazes. I don't
know about speed. But ghost behavior is much improved. That's like really the
big thing that that separates is there is some randomness that's been added to the
to the ghosts. You can't just run your pack, can't just run straight
patterns like you have to be. It's all about grouping. And there's still
like, you know, kind of specific behavior concerning the like how ghosts act.
Right, but you can I can't ask a super pac Man or Miss
pac Man player where Clyde's going to be at two twenty five into this maze
because it might be different, right, Okay, exactly. Uh So let's
so there's those differences. There might be some other stuff, but like those
are the main ones. Also, she has a bone her head. Thanks,
I had to get that in there. Yeah, well she does.
It's true. So I'm currently posting I don't want to hear about you anymore.
This is crazy, just destroyed anybody else's Christmas. It's great. I
just like to leave it for yourself. Yeah. Yeah, So it's kind
of the bummer is that it. It does not retain any high scoring from
it. There's no leaderboard, there's no putting in your initials. It's just
a battery. It's just high score. No, it's just when you turn
off the chalkboards. Battery never had that. No, it's just it does
not retain it really, really, there's no sure, there's just no I
mean, I don't know for sure that some operators just like leave it on
all the time. Yeah, they were just yeah, that stuff was just
never turned it off. Also, the monitors super fucking clean. That's maybe
the biggest I know, I know. And also the inside. I posted
a picture online. I shud show them to you the inside of the because
when we first got in, I'm all right, I just want to see
just so I'm a little bit familiar with the back. Let's pomp it open
and see where everything is. So I know, like this is the main
board, there's the edge connector, if things go weird or there's where the
you know, rhms are and if you want to We've been lucky with our
kids. Definitely Warlords. Everybody's still playing that. Yeah, Warlords is still
good. Misspack that is oh okay, okay. Maybe it was too early
before the battery kits. I don't know, it might be. I don't
mind. I'm just gonna get like a little white board and we're just gonna
that's where you post yours system. Uh well, right now, my my
best is around thirty three thousand, which I feel totally okay about. I
can, I can do better. I can. I want to see more.
I still haven't gotten when do you start putting a cellphane and marker on
top of the screen. She has things I don't think. I don't think
that that works, and I don't I don't want to deconstruct Miss pac Man
too much. Enjoy it. Yeah, I'm still just sort of enjoy it,
like all right. I have my strategies and I understand things, and
I've I've passed this information along to to the girlfriend. And she plays more
Miss pac Man than I do, and she curses like a sailor. She
deserves it. She she oh, yeah, No, I'm not saying play.
I'm not saying no, she shouldn't play it. Also, she goes
through her games a lot more quickly than I do, so she can in
the same in the same time that she can play like two games. I'll
play like one game for now. She still does. She's still like her
best I think it was like twenty five thousand, so she's not too far
off myst But yeah, it's all about just score maximization of getting both fruit,
getting as many ghosts as you can per blue time. Yeah, it's
yeah, I love love that gift. God bless you girl, thank you
for the best Christmas present ever. So yeah, but that's mostly what I
was playing. I just get up every once in a while and I could
go throw some quarters. Marquis is super clean, like all original stuff there.
I had to go buy a bulb before the Marquis and I had to
go buy like a security bit set so I could get into the the Marquis
space. But other than that, it's uprights. Yeah, man, I
know, I know, you know, but this between everybody. There's a
few arcade machines in the possession of Whisked, A couple a couple. I'm
surprised this is took me this long for this to be my my first No,
you had you had a half a Xenophobe. Yeah, I own half
an the Xenophobe machine somewhere there was no and street Fighter. Street Fighter is
just in betch And again it's yeah, who knew the TVs that was going
to be the thing? Yeah, because everything else on my machine is like,
yeah, that's it's actually the thing that I'm most I'm happy about having
a miss pac Man machine is how easy parts are for that thing, generally
speaking. And you know, other than set, there's there's nothing exotic about
what is on or in a Miss pac Man machine. You know, it's
like this is a standard. You need a four way fucking joystick, right,
you need one or two buttons just for you know, one player,
two player, go, and a monitor that works go. I have the
original power supply in. It's like a hard to say because there's a lot
of like there's stuff there. It's like that is original, just really well
taken care of. There's some stuff like okay, clearly somebody's not like a
switching power supply like a PC power supply. There's not a big gold hunka
wire. It's far away from everything else, so I don't go down there.
Okay, I did have I did, and then I had my first
like arcade owner panic attack of turned it on one morning, wouldn't play a
game, you know, walked away, made it, was making tea or
something, and came back and suddenly like red ghost was invisible and the colors
were slightly offer and I was like, oh fuck it. I'm like,
oh goddamn, just one of the guns going out on the because my first
thought is colors aren't coming incorrectly, one of the guns is going out on
the monitor, and that is just your fucking nightmare scenario for arcade ownership.
Kick uh No. I panicked, and I contacted Steve Lynn and what Steve,
I don't know what should I any first tips And He's like, I
just go poke some ROMs and reseat the edge connector and like, okay,
I know it's fine. I went and did that and powered backing up.
I'm like, yeah, I win that arcade ownership. That's right. It's
it's an age of when you can elbow the machine and it's suddenly work.
You can fonzie that machine back into service. That's kind of the fun thing
about arcade machines is like it's not working. I'm blowing it. I don't
know or you know. I found in the process of trying to figure out
what was up with the monitor, I found the like the monitor control panel,
which has just like those weird little knobs on it, and it's that's
like some real analog control that you have over the vision of the signal.
I'm like, oh, let's tweet this a little bit, like meet that
a little more. Oh wait, or it's like it's it's in a weird
position where it's just kind of like hanging in the middle of the cabin,
like you open up the coin door, and it's just kind of like clearly
it was supposed to be adhered to the wall, but that's that stickiness gave
up years ago, and so it's hanging there. And every time I touch
it while it's hanging, the monitor just kind of freaks out and just spazz
all over the place. All right, Well, I gotta get in there
and you know, just stuff. And then when I get my hands off
of it, just leave it in just the right spot so that it doesn't
wiggle too much, and and everything stays good. Can I get to take
this sought after collector's out of miss packman machine and gut it and turn it
into a sixty four button main machine, like yeah, great, oh perfect,
This is exactly what I mean. Sticks on it. I put a
racing wheel on there. It's got seventy seventy poured down here. If you
just want to plug in the three sixty controller, I don't know, just
in case you know, I don't know, there's a tardy sticks on it,
paddles what else we got on there. It's just not the point of
buying a damn at well, especially not like an original. That was always
the thing too, and they had the raffles of California extreme. It would
always be like a perfect pinball machine or like in you're like that pinball machine
is like a three thousand dollars one of the rings like stern handmade. Awesome.
They don't get me wrong. I have nothing against like a main cabinet,
like I build one myself if if I had the room. It's the
taking things that will no longer ever be built like this, and people do
it, which is crazy. Yeah, that's so mean, that's congratulations.
Yeah no, and it will be cherished in my house. Welcome now.
I sometimes just go and sit and look at it. I got a couch
that's right across from sit there and oh yeah, oh yeah. The glow
is nice. Yeah, the light from a misspac Man Marquis was all pink
and yellow. It's it's inviting. She does have a bow. I played
Vanquish and that was my did you what do you think? It's kind of
like a two year old game at this point. Yeah, it's bosses are
hard, it's dumb. It's kind of hard. Also, forgot I'd put
dark Souls on my list. Yeah, you would, It's good. I'd
put dark Souls. Give me dark Souls in the sky room World, give
me a jet back in game. I'm sure if you get the PC version,
I'm sure it'll be there. Somebody will put a second Did any any
any news happen? You want to talk about news? I picked three news
breaking news. We're just getting here in the jump on news room, I'd
cut open with my leatherman, a three sixty controller chord and resoddered wires.
By the way, you guys freaked me the hell out with that lock pit,
that lock pick uh kit, that you put on a right computer.
Oh you left it on his desk, Yeah, I thought, because we've
had like stuff disappearing and I was like, no, I thought somebody had
was like left that there, and I was like, super conspicuous spot right
on top of your whoever's doing it, it's like some master thief with a
leather lockpit. Like whoever's coming into like swipe stuff from the office is like
I am a massage. Yeah, but it's like you play so much video
give if you think that that's actually possible around, Yeah, you can't get
in here with the old fashioned locks electronic. That's why I thought it was
awesome because I was like, oh, we have a master thief. So
funny somebody from the guild has come in here. I was. I was
so weird. Freaked me out. That was a weird package. That was
thanks to that guy, though there was Yeah, figured out what we'll get,
figured out a way to give away the other Eisenhorne book, that copy
of I don't know. I've got a ton of stuff we need to give
away. Oh yeah, we should gather up for the new year. Yeah,
clean it out. I've got a ton of T shirts that I I
really want to give away, but I thought that was weird. What's that
T shirts? It's fine to give away, that's if I warned them before.
I don't care. Okay, people love that shit, like just like
video game too. I mean, I guess unless you're I mean, unless
you're unless you're afraid of I've warned them, people making voodoo dolls out of
them. I'm saying, I've worn them. I get it. Yeah,
I know some people might want that. That's what I'm saying is as long
as you're okay with like finding my DNA, as long as you're okay with
that being the appeal to some people. I didn't want them that much because
I don't really wear anything that has like prints on it so much. But
like prints, as long as you're afraid that, you know, you're you're
not afraid of people like going to sleep with them, that's fine. Uh,
bring him in. I got boxed at. I don't know. Room
for them, No more room room for anything, No, no room for
stuff. Do you want this biod Commando T shirt? Nor? No,
you don't want it? No? Why not? No? Get that away
from me. I don't need any more black elves. It wasn't really anyone.
Yes, it was it was happened? Was that there was that christophero
stuff with the Avenger. I guess that's that's kind of blown over at this
point. I feel one guy was a dicky on the Internet, and then
a bunch of people were dicks on the Internet. Now everybody's a dick on
the internet. On the Internet Internet. That's a bold step. That's a
tough one. Yeah, just let the earthquake do it for You can't get
rid of that hose just yet. Yeah, stuff doesn't happen. How's the
do you guys know how the the PSP is doing? The new Uh?
Not so? Yeah? That came out the great not great. It did
okay the first week, and then the second week the old PSP beat it
in sales. Wow, I wonder because it's as did the three DS and
PS three and some stuff. I don't know. Looking kind of iffy.
It's March here February. Wait is it March? God? I totally forgot.
I think it's I think it's sooner than it's February. It's it's late
February. It's twenty second or something. Soon. We'll see, we will
see. Yeah, that's that's news breaking all I got for news man.
Man, if you think there were some news, you want to talk about
some new really new releases, Yeah, fuck you? Why that's no,
those are the new releases. Finally find that on the on the DS store
for yourself. No, that's yeah, exactly, go fuck yourself. Then
sequel hot follow up DLC Fuck You is now available only on the three DS
E shop, so spin out on pack. To my knowledge, we have
perused digital and physical. You just can't find anything. Retailers not coming out
this week. When did Postal not come out? That did not come out
last year? And that was like and it's still not out now, okay,
So technically what's up this week with downloadable stuff? Oh? I believe
Blitz. It looks like NFL Blitz might be out, but but I'm not.
My understanding is Blitz is out, okay, and we'll probably we'll probably
even do a T and T with that next week when Jeff is back.
But we can't cover that game without Jeff. No, no, no one
here literally cannot do it. It's like it's like you have one of the
best Blitz players in the world. We're not gonna move it. Yeah,
we're not gonna sit here and try and come of the game while he's not
here. Do that with other stuff. Yeah, and that with postal three.
Look for that that games. Shit, it's up now, not watch
it's not now, it's not just goes up before then it's tuesday. Oh
that's right, Yeah, that's going up tomorrow. Yeah, you look for
that tomorrow actually or whatever. It's it's garbage. It's it's that game.
That game. It wasn't even a good time, you know, like some
people. No, at least that's yeah. Sometimes it's a bad game.
You have a good time doing it. Yeah, I didn't have it.
I don't even have a good Yeah. Yeah, it's just disappointing. No,
it wasn't it wasn't great. So Blitz maybe this week. I think
I think that's I think that's correct. I think that's actually that's actually for
real. But otherwise, Wasteland, all those twenty eleven games plenty to play
are bullshit now because it's twenty twelve. You can't play those anymore. It's
your old man games catch on fire if you try to play him, doesn't
work anymore. I'm gonna fall into an MMO hole. I know what I
can do. Let's do it, roll on mine trick. I don't want
Imperial side I need. I didn't make sure quest I get on my mind
trick before this goes up, before it's flooded with more people. It's already
ferry full. It is. I need people to play with or I'm not
gonna play it anymore. Like it's is the way to go. I'll come
on, try Imperial. All right, let's do it. Oh yeah,
Imperial seems to be where where the party is at? Okay and where the
cards at? All right, let's let's take this home with with some emails.
Really yeah, bobcast at johnbod dot com. First email comes in from
Greg Hey bomb squad. Just before Christmas. I had to go into the
hospital to get my appendix out, and with the result that I spent the
last week before Christmas trapped on the couch with only my three sixty four company.
On one of these days, I was watching Scrooge to pass the time.
Good call, and when it ended it did not want to have to
get go through the five minute post surgical standing up ritual to change the discs,
so I picked up my controller and three button clicks later, was playing
Bastion as late this generation as it may be, this was one of the
first times I actually felt like I was playing on the cool futuristic consoles that
we imagined many years ago. This got me thinking, what is or was
there ever a moment in this or any other generation where he actually felt next
generation? When the connect voice stuff worked, Yeah, that felt cool.
It's like, oh, this is kind of the future here, right.
And then after that when nothing was integrated Sega CD, That's definitely I felt
like the future. I thought I was playing the future video. The first
time you saw like live action video in your game is going on? Yeah,
blew my mind. It was worth it washing all those cars that entire
summer in Gaithersburg, Maryland. That's a hot summer. That's a hot summer
hot. That thing was like three hundred bucks. It took all summer for
me to save up to play Sewer Shorts. Right, did you have a
Hello? Did you have Yeah? I'm sitting here thinking about it. I
guess for this generation, I guess it's the same same thing as this guy.
Just like the immediacy that you can access new games now, Like like
last month, I was home with some stomach flu or food poisoning or whatever
it was. Was this the same day of the Trying two came out right,
and just like I'm gonna play in between instances of throwing up. I
was like, Trying two's out. I can click play four buttons on my
computer and it's downloading, and my internet so fast enough that even though it's
like three and a half gig or whatever, like it will be here in
five minutes, ten minutes. Fascinating. It's like the speed, the speed
of the internet, in the in the ease of the purchase process and all
that stuff that still kind of amazes me. Yeah, I was like,
I didn't have to leave the house. I feel like absolute dogshit, but
I can still access this cool new game that just came out like an hour
ago. When I remember my first like original PlayStation experience, that was pretty
that felt pretty fucking futuristic. Yeah, I thought the st first. The
first time I saw that dinosaur demo in Circuit Cities, Uh, I was
just like holy for me. It was like I went with a friend and
we like rented one from the local video store and just got like a handful
of whatever random games like Ridge Racer No Rage Racer and uh and like the
ESPN Extreme Sports Game whatever that compilation was called, and just the idea of
like you can play this game or you can just listen to the fucking c
audio soundtrack for it. Like what the fuck? I could just listen to
listen to the soundtrack, it's actual instruments. Like that was enough, Like
just blew my fucking mind. Uh yes, I guess from from then you're
saying SNSs. It was just a super Mario world just was just crazy.
I remember putting that in and feeling like, I mean, I was a
little kid, but like that was magical. That was magical. It was
maybe more magical than like technology industry. I was just like I'm in a
bubble, like like I'm in like a joy bubble here, like don't burst
it. Like a really raw technical example for me was in Quake first one.
Yeah, like looking down at a guy after I'd killed him, like
like corpse on the ground, like looking down at the mouse and then turry
off mouse looks so I could move back and forth and just like slowly panting
my view around this guy and like I'm looking this guy from like every angle
and I can see him from the side and now from the front, Like
just having three D characters and games was completely mind blow Getting a Voodoo card
and looking through the water so open gl was a pretty it was a pretty
technical like the quick It was crazy because you just went from like it was
all the same stuff that you had. It just went from just like right
now, we support your hardware directly, and so we can we can look
at the magic ship. We can make this machine do now it's not all
grainy and big giant chunky particles everywhere hugely. If I don't think that could
I don't even know if that could happen again where you're just like replace this
one part and like it's like you have a new game, and it's like
wow, holy crap, like like software drivers versus hardware drivers, or like
you can't even tell that, like barely noticeable is the same game that was
firing shots from like whatever gun you have. Oh yeah, yeah, that
stuff was great. God, I've definitely had, you know, like arcade
moments like that as well. You know, the first time that I saw
a Neo Geo cabinet in the world after after watching the game Pro TV special
about Video Geo, like Ninja Combat and Super spot just like laying out.
We're just laying out the like so I had I had watched this thing this
you know, the game pro TV thing about in the aga before I'd ever
seen one, and it was laying out like Okay, there's this home system,
right and it's fucking crazy expensive and Scott these Janet cards and whatever.
But then there's also the arcade machine and it's the exact sit. It's not
slightly it's not like I no, it's the exact same game in both locations.
Like what I'm talking about. You were saying, check this out,
though you can play it at home, take this card out, put it
in the machine at the arcade, keep progress what that's what? Why would
you ever care? Retrospective? But you know it was but that sounded so
cool. Tell that to the man who just put a white board next to
as miss pack. I think we know why. That sounded so fucking cool.
And just like you know, first time I saw MK after like buddies
came home from the arcade, Like, dude, there was this new game
in the arcade. You have to see this fucking game. It's like street
Fighter but way crazy. I remember like when they when they were describing what
was happening in Mortal Kombat. I'm like, you guys are liars and you're
just making Yeah, that sounds like something that people would just live, like
you're just making this game up. Like no dudes, like guys explode and
they all look like real dudes and like like guy's head off. Virtual Racer
was like that too. I remember that even before, like Virtual Fighter where
it's just like three D. Yeah, where you were sitting in that cockpit
and it was like three D, and I remember I had that bridge moment
where it like pulls back and you're like, oh my god, it's it's
a weird relative thing. Like you can't look at that stuff now and think
it was like wow, this is mind blowing. But when you're like first
seeing like polygons move on screen, you're like, this looks amazing. This
is magic and voodoo in here, and then kind of look at it and
you're like, ah, these graphics are all right. Uncharted three is pretty
good looking, but it's like I was blown away by a six sided dude
fighting. It was this, you know, it was this monumental leap.
It was just this. You had no standards to judge it by because everything
else that you had seen was flat two D, you know, sprite based
stuff or that you even control directly controlling it because you had scene on three
D was like on the lawnmower Man or like you know, like you can't
control that. That took like seven hours and there's a special on PBS about
how long it took under each frame or whatever. The that means revolutionary and
like seventeen giant gray computers are doing this one scene that looks terrible, and
you're like, now, it's like I can directly punch this guy and then
do a split his face explodes. It's awesome. It was pretty awesome magical
video games. What a little lifetime of memories. Yeah, hopefully that yes
of punching dudes kung fu. I punched that dude and flew off the screen
on the SNST final fight, I was punching dudes and children punching that dude.
That was pretty good. My's here on my sixty four k out.
Even Mario could punch dudes. That's right, Mario punching bombas in the face.
Clay fighters are punching some dude, punching some dudes. I got my
I got my PlayStation. How was that punching dudes in my PlayStation? Yeah,
Tech, I was punching some fucking dudes and some Tech PlayStation two you're
tagging and punching dudes, and I didn't like take a tag. Oh you
skip that one, no, no, but still everything was punches. You
got Halo and you're punching your whatever. It's fucking grand theft auto. I'm
punching dudes all over the place and that, and how about your virtual boys?
You punched dude that I did not ever own a virtual boy? Really
did you ever played one? Yeah? Okay, I didn't own either.
My cousin. That did not qualify as one of those moments that was that
was like, well, this is kind of this sucks. Joey, who
bought you? The thing is red and black and my head hurts. Punched
dudes and Demolition Man on my three d Yes, yes, we gotta get
that in here. At something that's that after what I might have redefined great
with demolition bleat those prison pants, he swearing says, bleat vertical stripes.
Dude looks like a clown. Dude, just the fucking the specifically recorded FMB
sequences with Sylvester Stallone doing fucking jungle roles on a green screen are amazing.
Whole I don't want you know what. I'm not gonna talk about it anymore
because we need to hunt down a copy of Devilish three D. We do
it. We're gonna be on here. Jeff doesn't know his three dio work,
so you guys will be doing that, and on the other set,
me and Jeff will be running a Way of the Warrior scrug league, because
holy shit, Way of the Warrior is an incredible game, you know,
kind of like that the the multi media era. For me, there's just
a ton futuristic feeling moments CD I remember, oh yeah, I don't know
if we were we were just talking about we were just talking about what was
the thing is? It just it didn't really ever pan out, but it
was just when you looked at it and you sat down with it, you're
like, this feels like the fucking future. It's it's the connect all over
again. It's the same thing of like you standing like, wow, that's
crazy, I've never seen anything like that, and then you kind of dig
into you're like, well, this isn't that great? It was? I
mean, what the Jurassic Park of video game medium. For me, it
was it was it was the like they were too busy being excited about the
fact that they could that they never stopped thinking they should. That's true.
They were definitely overdone it. It just always felt like that's the rich kids
had that, like, oh my god, he's got a three do?
We should do you want to go over to your house, Dave's house,
And I'm mean, your best friend man three dio? I love. I
always like this, Dave. Dave's a cool guy. My actual best friend
got a three dio, so I didn't have to feel bad about it befriending
somebody for already was and he's just happened to get one. My cousin got
a three do and they were definitely like, wow, three d But was
it the seven hundred dollars Panasonic three dio or was it the lower priced gold
Star three Dyo. I think it was. I think I think it was
the cheaper one. But my friend, the original Panasonic was the motorized drive
and everything. I don't think it was this. I can't even remember what
she didn't only had like three games? How about this drive? Caddies?
Oh god, Yeah, drive caddies, little caddy that you gotta put the
disk into before you put it into the drive. It's not a tray that
pops out. It's almost case that goes on there. Yeah. Shove this
jewel case with a CD in it into actively turning the CD into a floppy.
Yeah, all right, I think we've we've exhausted that topic. We
had lots of magical times. It doesn't even it can feel like the future
without being there every time. It always feels like the future. Tape cole
position on a cassette. The first time that I played a both a PC
game and a console game online on the internet. Uh, the first time
I played a piece of game direct dialing someone else. Yeah, yeah,
playing like one on one Doom and Warcraft two over over the phone against somebody.
Yeah, that felt completely magical as as as anticated as it can possibly
be right now, or like offensive, like just the idea of playing a
game against somebody that was not in the same house and heartbreaking when your parents
would pick up the phone. Yeah. My friends and I used to work
with each other, and you you'd pick up the phone at their house when
they're on on the BBS or wherever and just scream air into the phone and
watches their their client fills up with garbage for a second. Fuck. It
was also the shittiest way to get caught playing a game when you're like,
it's like one in the morning, and then like it would bring, it
would always ring, somebody would pick up the phone. Yeah, you have
to be like fuck, and then somebody would be like your connection would go
out, and you just knew you were fucked because it was like and then
the fucking go Now, I wake up in two hours, are getting traffic,
and you're fucking go to sleep. You're fucking dead. You're dead tomorrow.
But these days you get to hear it all over the microphone that the
kid has, right, you get to hear that the parental heard that.
Yeah, thankfully it was just you just all right. This next email comes
in from Rusty Jamar in Odessa, Texas. Rusty rights in to say,
is it me or does this Steve Jobs action figure look like Vinny? I
think it kind of does. There's a Steve Jobs action figure. Let's let's
do a comparison. Here. I'm gonna hold this iPad up to Vinnie's face.
That's the one on the Yeah, the one on the left hand.
Why did you make a Steve Jobs action figure? Because I don't know?
National Hero? Why does anyone do anything? I don't know, because someone
will buy a Steve Jobs action figure? What do you guys think? It
looks like Steve Jobs mixed with Yes, you have to give him some glasses,
a gray yup, a bunch. There's there's a slight resemblance. If
you had to post this, champ, would you want an older Steve or
young Steve? I want mustache Steve. That's my favorite Steve. Yeah,
yeah, shaggy, but not not super shaggy. I like like, I
like corduroy business Jack. He's just like I like Noah wild Steve Jobs.
Like that's that's the one that I like. Have you ever seen the video
where it was like a Macworld or some similar conference, Like he went like
they had Noah Y come out instead of Steve Jobs and start doing the presentation
and then like the real Steve Jobs like walked out behind people. I didn't
get it for a while, So thank you, Rusty. I know,
all right, it's a good company. This next email comes in from Sean
Koont's all right, Sean asked me what the email was. I had no
idea. I thought he was looking up something like you know what is it?
Skyrim just killed my poor three sixty with new consoles just around the corner
twenty thirteen ish, would you recommend buying another Xbox or building a new PC
and hooking it up to my TV? Mmmm? Well, like I think
they're they're much different investment levels. If you're building a new PC from scratch,
even if you aren't going to go crazy over the top, you're gonna
have to spend more than you know, two or three hundred bucks to to
get something good. You do. You can't break that wall, Dave.
He's got to listen to his answer. Yeah, No, he doesn't dude
though, No, don't care if he's just outside there. We got to
record it first, silly, put it up on the site, then he
can get to this point in the podcast. I'm sure he'd prefer it now
you've alerted him. No, he doesn't hear anything past his techno years.
He's playing back game and over there, what's going on? See now,
when he listens to this, it's gonna be a lot weirder, going to
know that we were looking at him talking about him, but hutting his playing
four games several hours later. I can't tell what's going on over there,
not to like retrace a step like fun, what was I doing? No,
you were looking at? Tell you what you're looking at right now?
Yeah, I think it's it's a different investment. It is if he really
wants to do it on the sheep, I would say, by one of
those two hundred dollars xboxes. And because you can get the like the four
gig on board no hard drive, if you can bust the hard drive out
of your old one and stick, it will not even recover, like the
new one has a bare SATA connector inside it. So he'll literally just take
that hard drive out of his old ones, right And even though there's a
change in format, you're saying he won't necessarily need to buy new new hard
drive. Yeah, yeah, you just have to be willing to crack open
the old one. And you will spend a lot more than that on a
PC. Yeah, So it's it's a matter of investment. But that PC
is gonna get cheaper games than cheaper games, And well, if you're if
you're willing to wait it out a little bit on the Xbox they drop in
the same way. But but if you're talking to day one, it's all
so much cheaper, and and that PC will last yet, like that PC
is gonna stay relevant at least for a few more years, a few more
years longer than uh probably that Xbox. And at this point those games will
look better on that PC than they will as a long as support is reasonable
than anything that's gonna come out in the three sixteen. The question is who
is going to be Sean Coon's support buddy when he starts running into problems with
its PC? Will Good call? Yeah, I also nominate Will Smith.
So Sean, if you have any problems, go build a PC and and
pick pick Will's brain, all that stuff. He's got all all that figured
out. Whatever, we'll make a future out of it something. So thanks
for thanks for writing in sho though. You know what I'm gonna say,
go through sixty because you probably won't get tricky on any sex. Yeah,
yeah, yeah, it's probably quick. I mean yeah, quick and easy.
Solution is just gonna pick up another Xbox next thing you know. It
comes in from Joel in Washington, DC, District of Columbia. Dear Bomb
Cast During the third day of award deliberations, Ryan stated that Drive three er
or Driver three was the original offender for using the awkward three for an E
game title. I may have did you mean it? This is incorrect?
Uh. He believes that wipe Out three or Whip three out was the first
to do this back in nineteen ninety nine. Unlike Driver three. However,
wipe Out three was an awesome game. I'll agree with that. Yeah,
but like it made sense within the wipe out milieu, you know, like
what is like the futuristic like that whole like Designer's Republic, like kind of
European house. Sure, every futuristic everything. Sure it made sense, Like
Driver had no business putting at three in there. Yeah. I was so
I read this email and I was trying to think of like, yeah,
because I remember when wipe Out three came out and didn't care that they did
that, and then remember when Driver three came out and it was a ship
storm and it was like the worst thing ever. I'm trying to like parse
out like why was that and is it because it fit or was it just
because like wipe Out three was a good enough game. That's like, ah,
it's like it's dumb, but you don't really give a shit because this
is still a pretty good wipeout game. Whereas with Driver, they were talking
and like big mess about how fucking cool and gta killing their game was gonna
be, and you just weren't seeing it. Anything you saw of the game
just looked like trash. I don't know, just couldn't walk the walk with
a three. I guess an have the cool. We just seemed like like
it was it was unearned affectation, you know, like, yeah, yeah,
so Joel is correct. Wipe Out three, if if not necessarily the
original offender is, at least is definitely an earlier example of that. Do
do do do do? Do you know? We're gonna call it. We
have a little shorty today. That's it. Yeah, holiday holiday returning,
Yeah, we or whatever. He's into it. We're short a man here.
Yeah, I don't want to play Hammy or anything. That's it for
emails. Thanks everyone who wrote in bomb cast dot com. Ask a question
to the room, Hold on breaking news we have it's gonna relax one.
Okay, what's up? What do you what do you guys? Well,
sorry, what do you what are you playing right now? Like What do
you this weekend? What do you go home and play Old Republic? Older
Republic. I'm gonna play that Space Pirates and Zombies game. Man Rory told
me he put forty hours into that game in the span of like three days.
About that. It's a it's like a move clone like Masters of a
Rhyme four x yeah kind of. It's on Steam. It was on sale
and I bought it, but I couldn't play because I was on a Mac
the whole time. So kind I mean, I played The Bowl Republic.
I gotta check it out. I've played pretty much every MMO. I feel
like I need to get in there. I need to at least put in
the thirty hours to figure it out. Man, I'll, you know,
discard it if it's no good. Hopefully I won't lose my Well, I'd
love to come. I'd love to come and check back in with you after
you have some time with it, just to hear your thoughts. Well,
it sounds like Jeff's Yeah, but you have a much different MMO. Uh.
Well, I can tell you whether or not that's been done before.
Yeah, sure, Well, you just like it's it's a different perspective and
it's it's meaningfully so, so I and I value your opinion on this stuff.
So I would love to hear what you have to say about it after
some time with it. What are you yeah, you know, I've been
playing super casual, Like I really didn't play. I got a bunch of
time off during the break that I wasn't you know, family commitments or anything,
just sitting around, and I just you know, it's good to take
a look. Just didn't want to play. I've still got that huge stack
of stuff that I haven't finished. I'm just like, I just don't really
want to get into anything huge, and and and and this. Like the
thing with Old Republic is, you know it it's an MMO. So there
is every time you go in, there's a certain amount of kind of wind
up time percession of like you can't jump in for five minutes. Yeah,
it's like, Okay, I'm gonna get in. And it's like, well,
I can maybe perform a leg of a quest. Like there's a certain
like time commitment of like if I'm going to accomplish anything in this game,
because by the time that you want to stop playing, you want to be
back into CANTEENA gaining rest you want to have, you know, completed or
at least made progress into a leg on a quest. So I've just never
felt like I don't want to put the I'm not ready right now, I
don't want to put the hours in that I need to, or I don't
want to commit to that right now. I highly recommend binding of Isaac.
Then that's a great sit there for ten minutes. Put it down game.
I've got other quickies. I've got more Raymand to play. I've got i
gotta finish. That's what I'm going for. Space Man Spaceman thirty bucks on
Amazon today. That's a deal. I want to play some more of that.
What's the all right? Ask my last question? Okay, what do
you what do you do? I'm gonna go, but Skyrim too, I'm
gonna finish all that. So that's it's gonna be a lot of time.
The when is it hit? What? What? What kicks it off this
year? Really? I don't know. Yeah, that January so good.
I'm not even looking forward to that. And that's that's definitely. So we
have a couple of games in January because it is mass effect January. Is
that go March? So amlor Is February everywhere. Yeah, like there's not
much going you're talking about just like when the next when do we have to
pay attention? I want to know when the next start. You get the
surprise game that comes out in like January February, Like, oh, this
game should be good, but it's not right around the court. But the
first one was like that because the last two years, I think Space,
I think the last two years ago. Last year's Capcom has been pretty early
in the year with something nothing they had residuval. There's the new Silent Hill
game coming out before the end of the month. There's Gotham City imposters.
Yeah, that's the month of January pretty so with that, I want to
say, tune in for since there's nothing really going on here. Uh.
Tested CS coverage begins next week. Yeah, they were rolling it up and
blow it out, going down to Vegas, hardcore dealing my crew. You
want to know about TVs and shit? Oh, I should say T ANDT.
This week, we're gonna play a little Battlefield three. Oh returned to
Carkin. Are we gonna have Are we gonna have Team Horn show up morn
end? Team Chan Norman Chan from Tested apparently lost his holiday break to Battlefield
three, so he was chopping at the bit. I want to play more
of that. Yeah, it's great. Answer the other question. Yeah,
they never put much time into that. It's damned good. It's really so.
We got about a month, right, another month to catch up on
the back catalog. Yeah, you've probably got a good month, a month
of not a lot of huge races, so savorite. So everybody stay tuned
to listen to Skyri more Skyri. Yeah, you guys like hearing about the
games that we've been talking about. Dude, I want to hear about DLC
for that game, but for Skyrian. Yeah, I'm curious. See when
the start. They're not they're not doing the they said they're not doing like
in a five or six ten dollars things like they did for Fallout. It'll
be more Oblivion style, like like one or two big expansions. Oh gays,
we'll find out soon, pretty Caravella, thank you, thanks for coming
back. Thank you twenty twelve. Thank you Dave Snyder. I missed you,
guys. It's good to be back. Good to have you back in
the house. Nice to have you on the podcast, checking in with you.
You were a gentleman and Radio Dave this week. Yeah, I think
we're gonna do it. We'll talk of we haven't done some stuff for a
while. We got a bunch of new subscribers. We did this last month.
Welcome give him something. I gotta give them some. And I think
we're gonna put up some behind the scenes stuff. Yeah, yeah, Dave,
a bunch of stuff. Stuff during the Game of the Year, not
not necessarily deliberations, but during the filming, some making of videos. I
love behind the should be starting good. Brad Shoemaker, welcome back, and
uh, that's gonna do it for the first Shiant bodcast of twenty twelve.
We'll be back next week with the second twenty twelve edition of the Giant Bomb,
hopefully with shotguns. Why shotguns, because many wants a shotgun. Because
the earthquakes. He's not gonna be all right. We'll talk about this later podcast
