Episode 110 - The Leagues of Votann pt 3
On today’s cast we will be finalizing our coverage of the Leagues of Votann, with a fun bonus of Brad going into tachycardia during! We open with us complaining about GW killing flavor in 10th edition (again). But then we jump into the leagues themselves, who they are, what their main purpose is, and why they are interacting with the galaxy now as well as where we thing GW will take some of their lore in the future. We then close out with the two named characters (one of which John likes more than the other).

[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the Forty K-Lorecast. [SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to Forty-K-Lorecast with me, John Barsati and Brad Chester. [SPEAKER_00]: Disguise. [SPEAKER_00]: Today, we will be continuing our coverage of the leagues of Votan with a dive into why they actually are now in the galaxy, a deeper breakdown of the individual leagues, and they're now two named characters they have. [SPEAKER_00]: 100% most of what it's saying. [SPEAKER_01]: But wait, there's more. [SPEAKER_01]: Family-sized. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we have to have two. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, we not really family sized for either you or me, because we probably would eat that size of a portion solo. [SPEAKER_01]: They didn't add a bunch of other characters, not name characters, but they added a bunch of types of characters. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what they're pretty cool. [SPEAKER_00]: The new model, sir. [SPEAKER_00]: The new models are cool. [SPEAKER_00]: The Iron Jacks I'll never play in a million years until Muxna, I will play in the 11th edition when they get an actual functioning data sheet. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just not impressive, I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_00]: I saw that as well as a stage five. [SPEAKER_00]: I have no need for these, anyway. [SPEAKER_00]: If you like the cast, I want to hear more of Brad and I, please click on the show notes to our YouTube page, the 40K lore cast. [SPEAKER_00]: There, there's old versions of the show, converted over the imagery, our live Q&A sessions. [SPEAKER_00]: She have another one in nothing, November, December, timeline. [SPEAKER_00]: We're just trying to design what it's going to be. [SPEAKER_00]: And our other shows, the history of 40K, with Brad and myself, and sometimes on the guest, unless someone keeps getting sick, because he's kind of a weak-willed... You know, that's her favorite, hurtful talk. [SPEAKER_00]: It's Allen, you can take it. [SPEAKER_00]: And then Brad's other show, a two-old man in their handler, which is probably going to come out at some point. [SPEAKER_00]: He's aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa [SPEAKER_00]: In our show notes, you also find a link to our Patreon. [SPEAKER_00]: Big thank you to the people who've been contributing. [SPEAKER_00]: It has been incredible. [SPEAKER_00]: It'll help for us. [SPEAKER_00]: We're able to pay audio engineers, buy new equipment, expand into you to really do a lot more stuff, even like we now have a streaming platform that we're able to do to start streaming games, that kind of stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: Thanks. [SPEAKER_00]: That's because you pay trends. [SPEAKER_00]: So massive. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_00]: for people who haven't joined our Patreon, if you want to support us for $4.99, you can join our Patreon that gives you this show and the history of 48K, completely ad-free, or for 7.71 Australian dollars, you can also get this show ad-free, which is pretty nice, because let's say you like national parks, bars, crocodiles, and the local newspaper that is a gem for humor, [SPEAKER_00]: Well, and obviously, you'd be living in Darwin, Australia, situated in the Northern coast of the Northern Territory, because that's a good naming mechanic right there. [SPEAKER_00]: Right next to the T-Morsey, Darwin boasts a lot of nature, just to take a gander at. [SPEAKER_00]: unfortunately some of that nature is salt water crocodiles so apparently you can't really go swimming there. [SPEAKER_00]: Fun thing to learn. [SPEAKER_00]: But the Kakudu, someone will correct me National Park is there but has some wild waterfalls like weird waterfalls like you guys google this they've got some waterfalls they're like [SPEAKER_00]: How is it that wide? [SPEAKER_00]: Where is there that much water? [SPEAKER_00]: And the best part, though, actually the reason I know of Darwin is because they have a local newspaper called the NT News, which has a history of producing front pages that look like they're almost an onion article. [SPEAKER_00]: So whoever is running that, if you listen to us and you know some of the NT News, let them know, I'm aware of it and I appreciate it. [SPEAKER_00]: Well done. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: Lastly, as always, we also have a link in our show to our discord. [SPEAKER_00]: For those of you who'd like the show and want to interact more around it, please join our discord. [SPEAKER_00]: It's fantastic. [SPEAKER_00]: I see Brad and I are in there all the time. [SPEAKER_00]: Really good place for to talk about the show. [SPEAKER_00]: Ask questions. [SPEAKER_00]: Tell me what I pronounced wrong. [SPEAKER_00]: Last couple episodes. [SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be a lot. [SPEAKER_00]: In addition, we've also got literature recommendations, gaming recommendations, we're seeing a lot of people who want to pick up this game start looking at like TTS that's a thing. [SPEAKER_00]: We actually have a whole area there to learn TTS. [SPEAKER_00]: So if you're looking at what I want to get to see on the computer, it's more fun as TTS let them figure it out. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll say, they have to find it at that point, Dave. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: My child comes home from the school with new crappy learned off-tech doc that I have to go Google. [SPEAKER_00]: I got a, I'm passing it on. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, what are you saying? [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, dad, but all the kids at school are saying it. [SPEAKER_00]: Right, but now I have to Google it. [SPEAKER_00]: whatever. [SPEAKER_00]: All right, back to the vote 10. [SPEAKER_00]: One of the main questions around the vote 10 and the lore has been a challenge of why they are here now and where they have been. [SPEAKER_00]: And GW's had to kind of thread this needle pretty hard in order to cut it out. [SPEAKER_00]: I like it though. [SPEAKER_00]: They've done it. [SPEAKER_00]: It's been a lot of sense, but they've done it. [SPEAKER_01]: There's at least me to reason why they're going places, the more than anything. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not like why we haven't just been around me, but they have, you know, we'll get into the bad neighborhood. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's been in the dark 21s. [SPEAKER_01]: We went from the dark forest to the bad neighborhood. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's just a funny one where they had to basically like, hey, there's a game multi-quid drilling and empire that's been here the whole time. [SPEAKER_00]: It's no one noticed it. [SPEAKER_00]: It's been a fun, I just say some of these notes are interesting, but [SPEAKER_00]: Well, leave it because they write the story and I just effectively retell it with your and my take on it. [SPEAKER_00]: So. [SPEAKER_00]: First off, one of the main cannon conflicts GW had to deal with was why no one is aware of them. [SPEAKER_00]: And they effectively went with, well, the vote 10 are very xenophobic. [SPEAKER_00]: Not like exterminate those xenophobic. [SPEAKER_01]: I feel like xenophobic is too strong. [SPEAKER_01]: I feel that crotchety old men that don't want to talk to their neighbors is more about it. [SPEAKER_01]: The theory of xenophobic, where they're killing people, [SPEAKER_01]: I've got all the friends I ever need, and they're kids. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the kids are like, that hermit who lives on an island on the northern coast of Finland, where it's, I want to be here. [SPEAKER_00]: This is where I want to be, and I don't really want anyone to ever come by. [SPEAKER_00]: And if you could all, but I have to get food. [SPEAKER_00]: So every now and then, I'll take my boat back to the mainland and I'll get food to the store. [SPEAKER_00]: I will give you your whatever their currency is, the blooms, kidding, I know it's your roast, but it's fine. [SPEAKER_00]: And then go back and then I'll go back to my island. [SPEAKER_00]: That's how the vote hand of function forever. [SPEAKER_00]: At the same time, though, they also are very aware of the dangers of the galaxy, because with the harm kin and everyone else going out, they're not stupid. [SPEAKER_00]: So they do recognize that if anyone gets too close to them, deal with it. [SPEAKER_00]: And one of the main things they've done is, whenever anyone shows up in the galactic core, [SPEAKER_00]: they just die instantly. [SPEAKER_00]: And the goal, I think, was to do that. [SPEAKER_00]: How did everyone say there are be monsters over there? [SPEAKER_00]: Let's not go there. [SPEAKER_01]: Now it's so funny that they're using the 1,400's 1500's map technique to keep themselves away. [SPEAKER_00]: The map's is scary. [SPEAKER_00]: I think at every time someone goes in this area, it blows up. [SPEAKER_00]: That certain point, I'd [SPEAKER_00]: That doesn't answer why they're here now. [SPEAKER_00]: And the reason they're here now was simply because the galaxy's a shit show. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's a new thing. [SPEAKER_00]: You've got the Great Rift, Tierney High fleets, Necron II Worlds, Was Black Templars are becoming an issue and get them in a second. [SPEAKER_00]: G's dealer cults, all of this, is now pushing on the galactical. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think, what we're gonna talk about the Great Rift anyways. [SPEAKER_01]: So for a first anyways, [SPEAKER_01]: I think that's the main reason that they're interacting with the imperium as a whole. [SPEAKER_01]: The reason that they're interacting with all the other things we said, the turnets, the necrons, the log that that are because they're there. [SPEAKER_01]: They're coming to their home. [SPEAKER_01]: Scroll off. [SPEAKER_00]: Try about the diamond day. [SPEAKER_00]: But it's all right. [SPEAKER_00]: It's normal to be sick for a month. [SPEAKER_01]: No, it's not. [SPEAKER_01]: And it sucks. [SPEAKER_01]: But the great rift itself is rooting. [SPEAKER_01]: a bunch of the vote tans, areas and they have to find new areas because they're taking their people. [SPEAKER_01]: Also, they've had a real thing. [SPEAKER_01]: The vote tans are not, well, you say they're not a psychic species, even though they have the crimson air. [SPEAKER_00]: But as much as I happened as a little bit, let's dive into the warp and them a little bit. [SPEAKER_00]: I think it's an important detail because the problem is that, as you just said, the vote tans are not as like species. [SPEAKER_00]: form of psychic, that actually has a barrier tech around it to keep the warp away from them. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, what happens is that means there's just not been a lot of interaction with them in chaos, except for some random inner, more a harm can outside of the galactic core. [SPEAKER_00]: So they're not, it's not that they mean, [SPEAKER_00]: The vote tank can fight, put anything there, they can fight them. [SPEAKER_00]: But the thing was is that the appeal of the vote tank never existed to the dansians of the work. [SPEAKER_00]: And because the vote tank are not touched by the work, it makes it really hard to create beacons within the core, which within allow them to. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it could barely make incursions ever. [SPEAKER_01]: Because the fact that they don't have a big war presence or anywhere presence. [SPEAKER_01]: But with the rift, [SPEAKER_01]: The Iatera becoming the riff, which stretched across the galaxy, now you're getting Votan areas where they can have to deal with demonic incursions, and yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And the thing is that there's nothing to gain if you ruin a place for them. [SPEAKER_01]: I do think they handle this a lot smarter than the imperium does, because the imperium puts their foot down, even if a planet's just completely almost absorbed into the rift. [SPEAKER_01]: This is mine. [SPEAKER_01]: This is mine. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to take my soccer ball, go home kind of thing. [SPEAKER_01]: The routine just said, eh, this is terrible. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's go somewhere else. [SPEAKER_01]: which is a way better idea than just going, let's fight over this place that's going to be trash for, well, forever now. [SPEAKER_01]: Until the background's fixed, the piloted up. [SPEAKER_00]: But, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's the main thing that the focus on is, that the vote can, what was seeing the vote can encourage him, or get to a lot of this in the second. [SPEAKER_00]: It's, [SPEAKER_00]: clever part of the GW, the idea is basically that do do an event happening within the core they're having to relocate and they're just relocating the nearest area, which is just outside the core, which is currently occupied. [SPEAKER_00]: So we'll get to this in a second, but basically long story short, the Votanda side of the neighborhood is going to crap and then moving into a nicer one. [SPEAKER_01]: kind of well, and they're not doing like a very hardcore expansion. [SPEAKER_01]: They're just kind of moving. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just, let's call it like it is. [SPEAKER_01]: When the Imperia meets somebody and they've said we own all of the area around here, even if we don't have a settled in yet, we're willing to fight and drop a hat, you don't know what I mean. [SPEAKER_01]: And also we're not sure what they are. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but also the Botanical Confering those planets. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and the Botanarch. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a float tank test. [SPEAKER_01]: You gotta take their side in their cast, all right? [SPEAKER_00]: We'll get to it in a bit. [SPEAKER_00]: But they're being dicks. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they're coming out of it saying, hey, that planet looks nice and people like, yeah, we live here, Lee. [SPEAKER_01]: Not anymore, they're giving the rope, they're giving the get your rope, jump. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, [SPEAKER_01]: The Tiered Evasion is taken out an entire league. [SPEAKER_00]: took out one leg, and it's obviously threatening into them a little bit more, but actually I would argue the gene slur cults the bigger issue, because the vote can know how to handle the tyranny. [SPEAKER_00]: They understand it just brute force, and you can actually push a tyranny invasion back. [SPEAKER_00]: The bigger issue for them is the gene slur cults, and this is the difference is where it's like the teeth of fleet is an existential threat. [SPEAKER_00]: The gene slur cult is more of an ontological threat. [SPEAKER_00]: Much like we've had with the Orcs and Eldar, they can try, but the congenetic code and the vote will pick up on it in a second. [SPEAKER_00]: There's no primarx floating around inside of leagues, but it's their destructive principles are causing havoc. [SPEAKER_00]: Because the one thing we don't talk about is that once they infect somewhere, they also will do weird things, they'll mess with munitions, they'll mess with supply lines, they mess with stuff, they make it easier for the high fleet to overtake it. [SPEAKER_00]: the kin are a trading people and so now all these areas are trying to trade with the trade getting all jacked up and they're discovering what's really going on and where this becomes more of an issue for the league is that effectively they go and do some trades. [SPEAKER_00]: And then what they trade for, the goods are no archerables. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, they have to declare a grudge. [SPEAKER_00]: And now, basically, there's been some stories in the latest codex, talk about them. [SPEAKER_00]: In fact, they're occurring a grudge on a gene store called, and then hunting them down, like the entire gene store called, all of what the inquisition would do, and removing the entire gene store called, because they wronged them. [SPEAKER_01]: Which is also the best way to handle this. [SPEAKER_00]: It is, but it's funny, but it also takes up resources. [SPEAKER_00]: One of the biggest problems we're going to talk about this more as we get further into the vote, is they lack the resources to do this stuff that they need to do, because they don't understand how big the galaxy problems are and while they are numerous, they're not infinite, and they're getting hit from multiple sides. [SPEAKER_00]: For example, two worlds are another one that they've been dealing with. [SPEAKER_01]: The other thing that they also aren't telling anybody what they're doing. [SPEAKER_01]: So let's talk about the GSC thing, or just a little bit, because the Imperium has cracked it back, because they don't know that world is infested by James Steelers. [SPEAKER_01]: They just, you know, have the Voltaire pummeling a world and killing everyone. [SPEAKER_00]: Inquisitional figure, not afterwards. [SPEAKER_00]: The next big one is, of course, the two worlds. [SPEAKER_00]: And the vote 10 are at the same, I guess, back foot as the ad-meck are. [SPEAKER_00]: And now the imperium world. [SPEAKER_00]: When we talked, that we did the casts on the prior nexus. [SPEAKER_00]: We talked about this, where the ad-meck have been fighting the necrons for over a thousand years. [SPEAKER_00]: We're maybe not throwing a summer in that realm, but because it was on a way, can two worlds, because they were two-raiding. [SPEAKER_00]: and the tune world would awaken a little bit and add back how to hold plan they could wipe it out. [SPEAKER_00]: But now they are hitting fully awakened tune worlds and discover the hard way that yeah these guys are super technologically advanced and there's a ashton of them. [SPEAKER_00]: So the problem you're running is they start getting wrecked. [SPEAKER_00]: The same thing's happening for the vote 10. [SPEAKER_00]: The vote 10 have been digging into Necron world forever. [SPEAKER_00]: But now all of a sudden, as they dig into the Necron world, they're finding worlds that are fully awake. [SPEAKER_00]: And in fact, there's an entire dynasty that has awakened just outside the core. [SPEAKER_00]: That's creating a big problem for them. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it's a big problem in multiple ways. [SPEAKER_01]: Because of the fact that, [SPEAKER_01]: one, obviously they're fighting the Necrons, but if they're core, but your miners, they can want to resource collect and they're doing all the thing and they're counting all those things, the Necrons are grabbing absolutely everything if that's anywhere near them to fuel their awakened dynasty. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because they're under the, they're both going after the same resources and the differences, the necrons are coming in a little bit hotter and heavier than the vote 10. [SPEAKER_00]: Or expect this, mostly because don't forget, the necrons are robotic. [SPEAKER_00]: They can handle vacuum of space. [SPEAKER_00]: They can handle high radiation, their technology helps them handle the high gravity. [SPEAKER_00]: All those things can be done. [SPEAKER_00]: So the things that have protected the vote 10 in the past, if no one else could really come into this area and mine it, the necrons can. [SPEAKER_00]: So now they're also fighting them in an area that they never fought them before. [SPEAKER_00]: So the Necrons are causing some real, and this, again, we're going to talk more about the leagues in general, and Necrons are hitting issue one league pretty badly, and we'll go through that way. [SPEAKER_00]: But you also have the Orcs, because I like talking about Orcs and Gazz. [SPEAKER_00]: So we've discussed Gazz a little bit in the past, he is riling up the Orcs pretty bad. [SPEAKER_01]: Also remember, this is Gazz 2.0 with his duct tape on head over five different Gazz. [SPEAKER_01]: Mad Doc basically gave him the glow up and he's ultra gas now. [SPEAKER_00]: And the issue with gas is because his ultra gas, his reach goes out into the entire galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: And as a result, what you basically have is the Orcs who are close enough to him are going to him and joining him. [SPEAKER_00]: But the Orcs, say on the far side of the galaxy, or over in the galactic core region, it's like giving a child a bag of skittles and a red bull. [SPEAKER_00]: They're just completely jacked up. [SPEAKER_00]: And what they're doing is they're coming in anywhere and everywhere, looking for a fight. [SPEAKER_00]: And there's some of these rating parties everywhere. [SPEAKER_00]: namely again and these they're going to hit the vote and because again like the necrons, the orcs can survive in the galactic cork because they believe they can. [SPEAKER_00]: Therefore, that's what we're all with that. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And so they're coming in looking for a fight and the forget the vote 10 have been fighting the orcs for millennia and the second they see the orcs they get a little opity so they pull out the book of grudges and go wait a second flip back a couple pages and go we still have some mission unresolved issues with these guys let's go ahead and be angry. [SPEAKER_00]: But GW did do one good thing. [SPEAKER_00]: They did point out that probably the biggest problem that the Votan have is the Imperium itself. [SPEAKER_00]: And this is because the leagues have chosen to ignore the Imperium for their entire existence. [SPEAKER_00]: They realized, they realized a long time it's a dumpster fire, and they don't want to be pulled into any of that conflict. [SPEAKER_00]: But the leagues, [SPEAKER_00]: despite going to mass their presence are now being exposed because they did. [SPEAKER_00]: They were trading with them via intermediaries. [SPEAKER_00]: They were doing all this stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: They were getting blowing up and into the core. [SPEAKER_00]: But now they're starting to get hit on two sides. [SPEAKER_00]: First, as Brad mentioned, they're blowing up imperial worlds because they're going to over a bunch of things they're called. [SPEAKER_00]: But the funnier one is the imperium is launching crusades. [SPEAKER_00]: after the Necrons, the Orcs, and some of the chaos, as you said, some of the chaos plants caught up in the rift. [SPEAKER_00]: So now this crusade is coming rolling through town, and town includes a league settlement. [SPEAKER_00]: And so now they're in conflict with each other. [SPEAKER_00]: The funding of our imperial crusades is when they find resistance, they don't say, oh, go around that. [SPEAKER_00]: They just double down in the session. [SPEAKER_00]: It's black to more. [SPEAKER_01]: We've got more. [SPEAKER_01]: We've got more bodies than you. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah, so the black temple are going and also discover there's a bunch of kids somewhere. [SPEAKER_00]: They go, all right. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I still have a chain sword and they still are there. [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm just going to use said chain sword on that thing. [SPEAKER_00]: And now you're getting pulled into more and more conflict. [SPEAKER_00]: We haven't gotten all out war yet. [SPEAKER_00]: Again, [SPEAKER_00]: We are in the second codex of vote 10. [SPEAKER_00]: And one thing that we should always point out is, GW always has a major conflict. [SPEAKER_00]: Right now, right now, we're both tiering it and that, Kron, I think, I mean, tiering it with ultra-tenth. [SPEAKER_01]: You have all three. [SPEAKER_01]: State, you've got the rift and all of the chaos and coercion, including demonic and CSM, chaos-based reigns. [SPEAKER_01]: But then you've got a, [SPEAKER_01]: Leviathan, which is the closest one to Terra, but you've got a huge tearnin for forces pushing in from all over the galaxy, and then you've got the Awakening of the Necrone Worlds, and the fact that the Necrones are finally considered a real threat to the galaxy, not just a couple dots of highly advanced race. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, as my point is that when we get to 11th edition or even 12th edition, it's quite possible the vote 10 could become, you know, the great conflict within the Imperium. [SPEAKER_00]: Perhaps the Rift gets closed and then the vote 10, they both go to war with each other. [SPEAKER_00]: GW likes to spit they've almost done with the LDR a couple times and they backed off. [SPEAKER_00]: You've seen them being like, oh, there's a major LDR conflict with humanity and then L-Dread says, hey, let's go. [SPEAKER_00]: Come on. [SPEAKER_00]: Come on. [SPEAKER_00]: But it is possible given the size of the leagues of Oten that they could turn this into a much larger conflict. [SPEAKER_00]: But with that, let's jump into the leagues of Oten themselves. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm going to just give my opinion. [SPEAKER_00]: Unfortunately, I think the leagues are suffering a bit from modern 40K table top play. [SPEAKER_00]: And what I mean by this is, up until 10th edition, [SPEAKER_00]: You each faction had specific rules after like key factions within them. [SPEAKER_00]: So evil sons, your army got extra movement. [SPEAKER_00]: Iron hands, heavy weapons. [SPEAKER_00]: Oothway, that was unfair. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll be honest with you. [SPEAKER_00]: Oothway rules, we're usually just the sheet. [SPEAKER_00]: But they're like, wait, you get five benefits? [SPEAKER_00]: Well, yeah, of course, tau probably have some stuff that I have no idea what it means. [SPEAKER_00]: literally every time I play Taoist girl, what do these guys do? [SPEAKER_00]: And the person tells me, they could die. [SPEAKER_00]: I won't tell. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll be kidding. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know there are any rules at all. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah, these guys are invincible and fly. [SPEAKER_00]: That sounds right. [SPEAKER_00]: I played against them in eighths, okay? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Good enough. [SPEAKER_00]: Good. [SPEAKER_00]: But in tan sedation, GM moved away from this. [SPEAKER_00]: And the idea was good. [SPEAKER_00]: The idea was you can paint your army however you want something I actually do do. [SPEAKER_00]: And not all of us had someone say, well, your army is not red, so you can't be evil sons or because my orbs are pink. [SPEAKER_00]: And so they don't actually have an official clan. [SPEAKER_00]: But the downside of this is some of the flavor went away. [SPEAKER_01]: You're gonna do that. [SPEAKER_01]: I was just saying you're gonna get me on my soapbox on this because I feel it took a lot of identity away from what you're playing and it became a lot of generic, especially Marines. [SPEAKER_01]: If you're not playing a specific, if you're not playing like wolves or bloodings or something, Marines became very homogenous Marines. [SPEAKER_01]: And I did this a little bit with the Votin. [SPEAKER_01]: they have. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they did it with orcs. [SPEAKER_00]: We still at least do have our goffs attachment. [SPEAKER_00]: It's there. [SPEAKER_00]: It's obviously goffs, but even the other ones are there. [SPEAKER_00]: And my issue with this candidly was they all they had to do was say what they'd always said, which is, yeah, you can be ultra marine, but just be a sub-faction. [SPEAKER_00]: And you can have whatever paint scheme you want. [SPEAKER_00]: That's fine. [SPEAKER_00]: You can do that. [SPEAKER_00]: go after it. [SPEAKER_00]: I can be in my orc army would who I call the orgasms because they're pink. [SPEAKER_00]: They're I love my army, but they have it's all pink highlights. [SPEAKER_00]: They can still fight as goffs. [SPEAKER_00]: They can join the goffs and fight as goffs. [SPEAKER_00]: There's no reason they can't. [SPEAKER_00]: and it's better to actually have the rules say golf because then when you write them out your rules make a lot more sense. [SPEAKER_00]: Whereas like in the vote hand code X, I'm looking through the leagues. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm flipping through the rulebook on wait, I can tell which one's a greater theory in league. [SPEAKER_00]: But some of the other ones like is this the Americanglomerate? [SPEAKER_00]: Is this the Kronos [SPEAKER_00]: That's that that's John and Brad's bitch for the day. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll be right back after a quick break. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's jump into the Greater Thurian League. [SPEAKER_00]: This is the a-large a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, even the lower sucks, who am I kidding? [SPEAKER_00]: This is the lamest of the lore, because they're the largest of all the leagues, which means they're the most votein'. [SPEAKER_00]: They have the most land, they're a powerhouse, they're all this sort of, but not really, because they have, okay, I'm sure they call us out now. [SPEAKER_00]: The described as the largest league with all the technology and all that stuff, and then we get to the next leagues and they're like, oh, these guys have the best technology, and these guys have all the money. [SPEAKER_00]: And you know, so, [SPEAKER_00]: The Greatherian League's just a great big lie. [SPEAKER_01]: They have old money. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and even this. [SPEAKER_00]: So what they really are is they're the oldest of the existing leagues. [SPEAKER_00]: We don't have a date on their founding, just they predate all the others. [SPEAKER_00]: They could be tens of millennia old and it helped found all the leagues, or they're just the longest survivor that may be there. [SPEAKER_00]: They might be 5,000 years old and everyone else is just dead. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's only no by the court. [SPEAKER_01]: The vote tank, of course. [SPEAKER_00]: This next bit bothers me to say because I'm a contradict myself like three minutes, but they possess a lot of the wealthiest and largest guilds amongst the league. [SPEAKER_00]: And the idea here makes sense, they control more land and are the largest, and so a guild, because remember, all of the kin are independent. [SPEAKER_00]: They will sign agreements, they move around, but your kin will actually change leagues. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe off it's hard to really know how common this is. [SPEAKER_01]: Just depends on what what really what league is most populist or what they are currently doing. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so if you're in, if you're in the third land and you're doing your work, well, you're just a full. [SPEAKER_01]: Joey. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, there ain't the law, so go there, too. [SPEAKER_00]: We're like, okay, hey, I'm going to go join you. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: It sounds like this, it can't really, when you, as I read the books, it sounds like it's almost like recruitment posters going on all over the city. [SPEAKER_00]: Join the Furian League today. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that there, one of the biggest things though is the Greater Theory in League is straight up, we just want to get more stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: If you want to mine, you want to get resources, you want to do whatever. [SPEAKER_01]: We've got a place for you. [SPEAKER_01]: That's the jam. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, it's what they remind me of as I know you didn't play Starfield. [SPEAKER_00]: They remind me of Starfield. [SPEAKER_00]: The game Starfield just feels it feels like that spread across the galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, you just, oh, you want to do some business stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: Go ahead and join that. [SPEAKER_00]: I should write. [SPEAKER_01]: Apple from New New Rally calls. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to get myself another very obscure reference. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, the Greater Thurian League, they're actually one of the fastest growing leagues. [SPEAKER_00]: And this is because they control so much space and resources that they're being very appealing to the independent Kindred. [SPEAKER_00]: And some of the independent Kindred are independent because the league they were in just got wrecked. [SPEAKER_00]: At the same time, though, the Greater Thurian League are the most active with the Imperium. [SPEAKER_00]: That's not in a good way. [SPEAKER_01]: I was gonna say that it's not because they're sending gifts [SPEAKER_00]: No, because the issue with the Great Ethereum League is that most of their holdings is in the upper right portion of the galactic core, and this is where the great rift runs right through. [SPEAKER_00]: And so they've had to pack up and leave the area because they recognize what some exist a fee in and say, nope, and they bail. [SPEAKER_01]: I like this, so because they're very, I do like this about the botanists that they're pragmatic about this, and they went, we have nothing to gain here. [SPEAKER_01]: It's still ruined, you know? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, actually, they can't win. [SPEAKER_00]: The truth is that they're fighting an infinite force there. [SPEAKER_00]: They don't have the ability. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but I'm gonna say it. [SPEAKER_01]: It's still tainted by chaos. [SPEAKER_01]: Things have got wrecked. [SPEAKER_01]: You know you're gonna have future conflicts. [SPEAKER_01]: They're just like, yeah, I'm out, man. [SPEAKER_01]: And that, it does make more sense that, you know, to do that, as someone that's, by heart, part of the Imperium, we, the period just doesn't do that. [SPEAKER_01]: We blow up shit before if we can't have it, nobody can. [SPEAKER_01]: But they just laugh. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, they've packed up, they've packed up in life. [SPEAKER_00]: They've defere what they let just a big rock. [SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't really matter that much. [SPEAKER_00]: They're not leaving like a lot of stuff in there care about. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, let's talk about why it was bad for the Imperium because they went screw you guys I'm going home. [SPEAKER_01]: They decided that their home was someone else's home and showed up to the very next sector basically and when all of the stuff is now ours [SPEAKER_01]: and beat the crap out of the local people. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, yeah, this part's fascinating because what ends up what's happening as we discussed before, the imperious been trading with the leagues forever. [SPEAKER_00]: They assume there were a small, small race, especially the world just outside the galactic core, obviously. [SPEAKER_00]: And you have a period of governors and whatnot who just, yeah, [SPEAKER_00]: didn't tell anybody because I don't want to tell them where I stuff's coming from, but I've got this great trading partner. [SPEAKER_00]: All of a sudden that trading partner shows up with a fleet larger than the Imperium's fleet, as far as your concern, and conquers your planet. [SPEAKER_00]: It takes everything from you, and having this, the Imperium's having to recognize pretty quickly that what they thought was a small, nomadic people is actually a catastrophically large. [SPEAKER_01]: It's an empire. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, that's the greater theory in league again, milk toast, bunch of Oten. [SPEAKER_00]: We do trade. [SPEAKER_00]: We do mining. [SPEAKER_00]: We do all these things. [SPEAKER_00]: They don't really specialize in anything. [SPEAKER_00]: The next one will cover does specialize. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's the, ooh, you're, you just have such great rules when they first came. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: They were actually, they were good. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, they don't actually have rules. [SPEAKER_00]: I cannot figure out which of the new ones is them. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't pull them. [SPEAKER_00]: Flip the codex, no idea. [SPEAKER_00]: But. [SPEAKER_00]: I also assume it's your mirror. [SPEAKER_00]: I actually don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I've listened to an audio book on this, so I'm making up as I go along. [SPEAKER_00]: But the Americanglomerate, they're known for technological superiority, as well as incredible wealth. [SPEAKER_00]: Because the greater theory in league are known for their massive wealth, hot holdings and their great technology and weaponry. [SPEAKER_00]: And the Americanglomerate are known for that, but more. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a student, whatever. [SPEAKER_00]: The Americanglomerate, they're unique to their other leagues in their technology, while all the leagues have the same tech, technically, the Amir's tech is just a little bit better. [SPEAKER_00]: And they don't even explain why, by the way, they just say that it's better. [SPEAKER_00]: But what I like about the Amir is the way that they're structured, because they barred her through trade, but also through membership. [SPEAKER_00]: So the you mirror draw in because as we said, it's all volunteer if you to be part of the league, you volunteer to be part of the league and the you're drawing two groups first they grow in they draw in the best Smith's in the galaxy. [SPEAKER_01]: So you're a broker say they want the best bro cares. [SPEAKER_01]: And I do think it is funny that they trained for this. [SPEAKER_01]: So like, hey, I'll give you this, but I need Ted and Billy to show up and work for us. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, like, what it's also what they do is, but Ted and Billy will also come to them and join them because they're saying, hey, I'm this incredible Smith and I want to really blow up and do even more with my stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: I think I'm good enough to be a year near. [SPEAKER_00]: And then he said, all right, let's try you out. [SPEAKER_00]: and they'll come in and they'll actually end up joining them, then and their kin will come and join the humir conglomerate. [SPEAKER_00]: But at the same time, you also people who are the inverse of that, people who are I am not a good weapon smith. [SPEAKER_00]: I am not a good smith in general, but I can mine and I can really mine. [SPEAKER_00]: And I need technology. [SPEAKER_00]: So they actually, so the humir is this weird thing where [SPEAKER_00]: with technology, but their wealth comes from a lot of the best mining guilds in all of the kin, join them because it's a great symbiotic relationship. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to go get you raw materials and you're going to get me cool stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: Well here things about them is actually it's written in the codex. [SPEAKER_00]: They have some of the most luxurious facilities of all the votein, [SPEAKER_00]: But call out luxurious for a very grumpy dwarf like it's like it's not it's just not a oh feather down sheets. [SPEAKER_00]: No, this is a there might be a sheet on the bed or the technology the replicator makes food that's you know not rancid To better than an imperial planet, but not better than all the imperial planets the you mirror the story on them of where they're expansion is it's coming they're coming out of the galactic core [SPEAKER_00]: Unlike the greater theory and league, we're trying to conquer more land. [SPEAKER_00]: The yamir are actually having the problem of they need resources and a lot of things. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's supply lines though. [SPEAKER_01]: They got their supply lines cut. [SPEAKER_01]: So they're trying to, they're basically trying to battle supply lines back. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, the fun thing about the yamere is their technology is in the lore, better than everybody else's. [SPEAKER_00]: They have their weapon risk better, but it's all technology. [SPEAKER_00]: And they have one of my favorite stories in the codex. [SPEAKER_00]: So as I said before, I read the codexes, and these are one paragraph bits. [SPEAKER_00]: And what talks about is that there was some imperial soldiers on a planet were hunting down warp creatures that had appeared in the planet. [SPEAKER_00]: And while hunting them down, they found the creatures were going underground. [SPEAKER_00]: They went underground. [SPEAKER_00]: And while at a ground, they opened up and found an entire mining operation of the year that was going on under the planet surface. [SPEAKER_00]: And the humor then looked up and saw the humans and went, ah, this shotable, like, I'll solve the problem, figure no issue, but they radioed up. [SPEAKER_00]: So now there is a war going on underneath, I forget the name of the planet between the humor and the Imperium as the Imperium don't know why they're there, but do know that they are digging out the base of their planet and that's totally not cool. [SPEAKER_00]: But I did like that by the way, they also said this had mine opportunity to have been there for decades. [SPEAKER_00]: And no one noticed. [SPEAKER_00]: So pretty good technology. [SPEAKER_01]: But from there, we should have actually talked about the fact that they do have cloaking technology, that they don't really use in the game, which kind of makes me mad. [SPEAKER_00]: I would say, let's, the vote 10 are on a weird arc. [SPEAKER_00]: For example, about their technology, much like the LDAR, and it took a GW, taintedly quite a few additions to realize that, hey, if you put stuff in the codex and the lower, you need to make it in the tabletop. [SPEAKER_00]: And for a lot of times, they would say, yeah, we'll go ahead and do that. [SPEAKER_00]: And then a player base went, if you give another stupid model, this stupid rule, I'm never playing the stupid game again. [SPEAKER_01]: I got shot there, but it's just like they reference it quite a bit because they use it as the catch all for why the hell did no one notice these guys right and you and I both innate the dish and ran Oh, they talk [SPEAKER_00]: Elder, I would have lied on that. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, you did. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, really the minus one to hit. [SPEAKER_00]: You never not one time not if the dish not even once I actually can I can pull your lists. [SPEAKER_00]: We both know you not even. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, look. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, look. [SPEAKER_00]: These guys are minus four to hit Yes, because gw went that rule makes sense and then there's the rule on the Leviathan dread not as an iron hand Which did make sense from a lower standpoint. [SPEAKER_00]: It did make sense from a lower standpoint [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, they'd sense for me to punch people and I had that thing was rough, but but from there, let's go on to the trans hyperion alliance, which I like a lot. [SPEAKER_00]: I get only in the lore though, because my tabletop, I stand down. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just about to say they're awful. [SPEAKER_00]: Hard-kinned or useless my tabletop, but in the lore, they're awesome. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, they're the original, they're in charge of exploring. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I never really is the problem with them and why they suck in the tabletop. [SPEAKER_00]: These are the road traders of the leagues of vote 10. [SPEAKER_00]: And as much as I like my peer-relagions army, imperial agents only win tournaments because someone finds a weird interactions. [SPEAKER_00]: They are a bad, bad faction. [SPEAKER_00]: Bad. [SPEAKER_01]: They're not a faction. [SPEAKER_00]: Fine, they're bad, but I know, but we're all right. [SPEAKER_01]: We're not going there again. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll I'm rage out. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's go in it. [SPEAKER_00]: So the trans-hyperian alliance is made up of all harnkin and they're actually almost in fact in order to be part of their alliance you have to spend some time as a harnkin. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a requirement to join their alliance. [SPEAKER_00]: And as a result, they are the most nomadic league by white margins. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not even close. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And their scout vessels are scouring both kind of the roughest part of the galactic core because they actually also go into part of the galactic core. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, oh, that's where the black hole is. [SPEAKER_00]: That's what transpiring are. [SPEAKER_00]: But they're also on the other side of the galaxy looking for stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: with her wayfares. [SPEAKER_01]: They're awesome with that. [SPEAKER_01]: I think they're super cool about that. [SPEAKER_01]: Is they're trying to find new things. [SPEAKER_01]: They're trying to explore all the time. [SPEAKER_01]: And they're kind of pulling the grumpy old dwarves with them when they find the new things. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and it's, I like the way that they're set up because what they do is they move around the galaxy and when they find a area right for, I guess we'll call extraction, whatever you want to call the mining situation, they reach out and an entire mobile fleet will show up. [SPEAKER_00]: and begin mining it out. [SPEAKER_00]: What this results in this cool is that they are the most spread out of all of the vote hands. [SPEAKER_00]: So on paper, oh, they are the largest. [SPEAKER_00]: But if you look at it, there's massive voids between each of their holdings. [SPEAKER_00]: They're just, it's not really a congruent league, whereas the rest of them have almost defined edges and defined territory. [SPEAKER_00]: The trans-hyperian alliance is just all over the place. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like dots on the map all over the place. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: But what I like about them a lot is that they're also the most respected of the leaks. [SPEAKER_00]: They're not the wealthiest, they're not the most militarized, they don't have the best technology, but they're highly regarded because they're the ones finding new things. [SPEAKER_01]: But remember, we talked about this in the previous cast, which is they're doing a job that nobody else wants. [SPEAKER_00]: And unlike humanity and some of the other groups, especially the Necrons who are in it for themselves, [SPEAKER_00]: the leagues are in general in it for each other. [SPEAKER_00]: And so when the trans-hyperian finds a new area, they don't just share it with themselves. [SPEAKER_00]: It's shared with other leagues with mining guilds, et cetera. [SPEAKER_00]: So they're viewed [SPEAKER_00]: as kind of as an ally, the fact all the leagues view each other as allies, which is important versus some of the other people in here. [SPEAKER_00]: Another key part of the Transite Carolina Alliance and this does not translate the table top at all, and all by the way, is that they're constantly find themselves at war with larger forces, wildly larger forces by the way, because they they go find the places that already have a whole bunch of people already there. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and in the lore, the transit period alliance is written that they have some of the best warriors and fleet captains in the entirety of the leagues of Votan because they've just had to constantly fight uneven battles and escape or win. [SPEAKER_00]: That's does not translate at all because they just get rumble, stop the table top. [SPEAKER_00]: It's also quite likely that the New York was the trans-hyperian alliance. [SPEAKER_00]: Those are the ones who did the most trading. [SPEAKER_00]: When they describe the trans-hyperian alliance is traveling around with a mining operation that would just go in, that is how they're doing. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but the things that 40K doesn't have in the core game doesn't have space battles. [SPEAKER_01]: So you'd have to go into, I think they should be better in that if you're playing the new version of Battlefield off against stuff like that, the trans-hyperian should [SPEAKER_00]: Well, the transite parents are also the ones who have the spectral arrays, and yeah, those are useless. [SPEAKER_00]: One more really key thing of transparent alliance, they have three vote 10 course, which is more than any other league. [SPEAKER_00]: Just saying, quietly greater theory and yeah, greater theory don't have that many. [SPEAKER_00]: And their cores are all linked via galactic network. [SPEAKER_00]: So despite the fact that alliance is spread out, those cores all talk to each other, and the cores know the exact location of every kid. [SPEAKER_01]: I can't always say we talk about this a little bit more because [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so the network. [SPEAKER_01]: Without war, but yeah, well, they, I'm saying, they have Necrotic energy. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm just saying. [SPEAKER_00]: Humanity had that technology and then things went south. [SPEAKER_00]: And then we did. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and then things went south. [SPEAKER_00]: But one issue, the GW had designed the Votan was they made them look like dwarves. [SPEAKER_00]: They made them mine in harvest like dwarves, but they also need to make them grumpy like dwarves. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's where [SPEAKER_00]: Why not? [SPEAKER_00]: You are S.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R.R. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, again, terrible rules, but they are holding and they are holding the ground on the edge of the galactic core, they constantly find them out. [SPEAKER_01]: I would say, versus everyone, just check all. [SPEAKER_01]: They're fighting. [SPEAKER_01]: It also, they're writing down grudges against every single one. [SPEAKER_01]: I was gonna leave, but you told me to leave, and now I'm not going to. [SPEAKER_01]: You have nothing to gain by staying here. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna stay here forever. [SPEAKER_01]: even hard. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, they do have a lot to gain by staying and we'll get to that in this. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the website. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, but I'm saying, but there, there's a lot of these fights where you're like, you guys could give ground and come back and totally win. [SPEAKER_01]: They're like, I'm never giving an inch. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, ever. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: The URS are masters of grim resolve. [SPEAKER_00]: They take on all his attacks. [SPEAKER_00]: This is their necrons, the orcs, random Z-nose, even humanity are coming after their area. [SPEAKER_00]: And every time they just go, nope, declare a grudge and eliminate them. [SPEAKER_00]: That was fun. [SPEAKER_00]: What's odd about the URSR is that they're sitting right at the apex of the attack. [SPEAKER_00]: So, there are at an intersection point where the summaq, summaq, neckrun dynasty, it's fully awakened and coming after them, and they're assailing them really heavily. [SPEAKER_00]: Most other leagues in this exact scenario would have done the Oregon trail and just bailed out because they don't want dysentery, the URSR, they're holding their ground or if you [SPEAKER_00]: and this is also getting the same hit that's orcs coming in there and there's some imperial pushing. [SPEAKER_01]: The other leagues, I was saying that they're also getting assaulted by all four chaos gods. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And the other leagues are looking at them going, they're being weird. [SPEAKER_00]: And this is cool. [SPEAKER_00]: This is an adaption as we've gotten further into tenth edition where they've added a lot more lore here. [SPEAKER_00]: Originally, they were just gossiping that they had some silly rudge that they'd made and they couldn't see the truth of the folly of their ways. [SPEAKER_00]: How it was written, they were holding it around. [SPEAKER_00]: The real reason is the U.R. [SPEAKER_00]: S.R. [SPEAKER_00]: carry secrets. [SPEAKER_00]: So for example, one of the biggest notes on U.R. [SPEAKER_00]: S.R. [SPEAKER_00]: is no kin have ever joined the U.R. [SPEAKER_00]: S.R. [SPEAKER_00]: and left it. [SPEAKER_00]: That is a common thing throughout the leagues of O.10. [SPEAKER_01]: Why don't we come in? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and there's no end of mossy for doing it, by the way. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like you're breaking up with somebody. [SPEAKER_00]: You're just going, okay, I'm gonna go change jobs. [SPEAKER_00]: That's how it's always viewed. [SPEAKER_00]: But when it can join the URSR, they take part of a secret ritual in which they swear on oath and they never leave. [SPEAKER_00]: So it was rumored by the Grimner that the URSR possess some great knowledge they can't share. [SPEAKER_00]: I can't. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's give the Brad, I got a Brad theory on that one. [SPEAKER_01]: Because we talked a lot about you thought that they are the good guys, but they'll end up being corrupted, like the towel and the storyline and being corrupted. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that they know something about the Votan course. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so let's dive into what they do know, maybe. [SPEAKER_00]: So this, the URSR candidate, guys, this is, if GW wants to, this is the league they're going to lean into to advance the lower around this and really create a lot more mystery. [SPEAKER_00]: And make it dark, though. [SPEAKER_00]: In your multiple ways, actually, the URSR because they have a key thing. [SPEAKER_00]: There's something that they discovered. [SPEAKER_00]: And they discovered an artificial planet in the middle of their holdings, that's at least 20,000 years old. [SPEAKER_00]: In it, there's an AI there that they've named the sum that. [SPEAKER_00]: And this AI dates back to the golden age of technology. [SPEAKER_00]: No, it's just saying they discovered. [SPEAKER_00]: It's fully functional. [SPEAKER_00]: it's fully functional. [SPEAKER_00]: It is. [SPEAKER_00]: You say it's fully functional, but it's not talking. [SPEAKER_00]: It's actually it's a sleep. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's not broken, but it's not, well, or is it? [SPEAKER_00]: This is where this whole thing becomes interesting. [SPEAKER_00]: In, I mean, give me what says in the codex, in the codex, they've been trying to wake in the somnet for [SPEAKER_00]: thousands of years and it has not awoken. [SPEAKER_00]: They know if it does awaken this thing would have more knowledge about the universe than anything but maybe the elders because it skates back to a time when mankind first saw the galaxy has all that information. [SPEAKER_00]: It also has been corrupted like the leagues of Votan or like the Votan cores are who've been just getting this endless amount of data dump from a guy who's like yeah and then on my seventh birthday I had a sandwich for lunch [SPEAKER_00]: That's why these chords aren't functioning like I have important information. [SPEAKER_00]: I know it mannays tastes like that's not helping Trying to do, but there's yeah There's a kilobite By the way, I did like that your network is struggling. [SPEAKER_00]: I would be like, so it's Brad So now where this is interesting for me is if That was a better [SPEAKER_00]: where this is interesting to me is right now it's written that the song that is not speaking in his silent gw can go multiple ways with this I think it is that's my whole thing let's I think there's saying that it's not but I think that things that are secrets about the course that are not beneficial you know they're well bad you could be that this is why I love this so much that that's just a breath that's just a breath there [SPEAKER_00]: You know, oh, and of course, what's so great about this is you could go. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, just think about it. [SPEAKER_00]: It could be, yes, it is awakened. [SPEAKER_00]: It's told them that there's an issue with the other course. [SPEAKER_00]: Or it does awaken in 11th edition. [SPEAKER_00]: It awakens and gives them key information on how to shut down the other rift. [SPEAKER_00]: Or it does this gives GW to why I like this writing mechanic. [SPEAKER_00]: It gives them a flexibility in advancing the lower of the Votan. [SPEAKER_01]: that they weren't going to get otherwise because before anything they did with what why is to that before now they've got this really great thing so what's 3GW about on this one because the fact that we sometimes give them shit gav talked about this one while yeah i'm saying gav had a good thing about this read through it out and they were talking i think it was in a gavard service whatever one of the two [SPEAKER_01]: and they were talking about how sometimes you have an idea and you just throw it out there for future writers to develop and you don't step on it, you leave it open, but you leave it a cool concept to go from there. [SPEAKER_01]: So, I just like when you go, hey, this is the thing. [SPEAKER_01]: The horse airs he came out of that, you know what I mean? [SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of different, the thing, different affections that came out of this, and good storylines. [SPEAKER_01]: And I like where it's going, I like where it could go, the one you're saying. [SPEAKER_00]: It leaves it very open. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, the one knock I'll make on the URSR is they're effectively like a lore. [SPEAKER_00]: their function of the game is minimal because like what makes them special? [SPEAKER_00]: They're stubborn and they have a bunch of secrets that that's not that's a table top rule now Now, you who doubt who is a table top rule the chronos imagine They are a table top rule because the chronos imagine they are not very hard to diagnose They're not very secretive. [SPEAKER_00]: They're less than a thousand years old and they were created when a faint of an ancestor Corbyc came self-aware [SPEAKER_00]: and the cronos made their own leg around that and decided one simple thing, we need to have more us. [SPEAKER_00]: So let's go take it. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it's not even just more us. [SPEAKER_01]: They need to have more us and to get more us, we're just gonna fight. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they are the most warring version of the leagues at a level that's actually going to cause some problems for them. [SPEAKER_00]: So they're because they're in, and it makes sense you're an emerging league. [SPEAKER_00]: You have to go stake your claim. [SPEAKER_00]: And so they are referred to as having an aggression uncommon within many of the leagues of vote 10. [SPEAKER_00]: And they basically spend all their times in battle against every other species in the galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: They are ineffective BL 10 of the [SPEAKER_01]: But they're even worse, because they're also talking shit about it, because they're throwing grudges like it's candy. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, yeah, and one of the areas that cause issues is, they also are one of the only ones who are known to fight other kin. [SPEAKER_01]: It is full blown wars or anything, but still, it's pretty easy. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they do, they will have declared grudges against kin against other kin. [SPEAKER_00]: There's small ones, it's more border conflict things, but they are very territorial. [SPEAKER_00]: And again, much like with URSR opening up the door for GW to expand on the leagues, [SPEAKER_00]: Right now, you know, leagues of O10 are pointed very efficiently within GW. [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm going to play mirror matches. [SPEAKER_00]: I thought they all knew each other and would never fight. [SPEAKER_00]: It's fine. [SPEAKER_00]: One of you is chronosimegedly, whether you know it or not. [SPEAKER_01]: Where also the fact that they have their strategy is rolls around the fact that they're global Jim. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, better than you. [SPEAKER_00]: And we know they're fantastic. [SPEAKER_00]: And what makes the Kronos really interesting to me is that they're not doing when we call about BL 10, the BL 10 are trying to just protect elder holdings. [SPEAKER_00]: That's really more what they're doing. [SPEAKER_00]: The Kronos are basically saying, no, I'm going to prove I'm better than you. [SPEAKER_00]: Actually, this is your factions. [SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no, let's enjoy your last cast ever. [SPEAKER_00]: That was me, Beth. [SPEAKER_00]: All right, all right, in order to join the Kronos Imagini, the Westway to explain the aggression of the Kronos Imagini, actually is what you have to do to join them. [SPEAKER_00]: When you join the Kronos Imagini, you have to pay a tie to them. [SPEAKER_00]: And not the imperial tie, where to, hey, here's a percentage of our earnings, you have to bring to them conquered worlds and systems. [SPEAKER_00]: This is, that's how they're expanded. [SPEAKER_01]: This is so wild also, because [SPEAKER_01]: They don't, other leagues don't even understand what the hell they're doing basically, because this is so not can. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, with effectively the problem, and this is an interesting thing, the canon general have almost an unwritten rule of your aggression is defensive. [SPEAKER_00]: If someone wrongs you, get them, but there's no reason to go and take [SPEAKER_00]: why bother cronos have a problem there, they need to take. [SPEAKER_00]: So what they do is they mark anything anyone does against them as the ultimate slight, so they can go conquer them. [SPEAKER_00]: And so the crono's imagine is constantly declaring grudges, mostly against smaller zenos, it's called out the codexes, smaller zenos that are nearing their space, and they would just go, oh, you flew too close to one of our ships, therefore all of you should die, and they go to the planet and wipe them all out and take the planet out. [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you. [SPEAKER_01]: How dare you use the color yellow? [SPEAKER_01]: You're like, what? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, your email to me was an aerial font, not trying to do Roman. [SPEAKER_00]: That is, therefore, I declare a grudge on you because you did that out of the disrespect of me as a person. [SPEAKER_00]: And so that's what they're doing. [SPEAKER_00]: And even the other leagues are getting a little uncomfortable with how the chronos are functioning, because it is drawing a lot of tension over there. [SPEAKER_01]: but also they feel like they're using the grudge as a not grudge, like that's not a grudge. [SPEAKER_01]: And you're solely my good name, sir. [SPEAKER_00]: But also the same time, all of the kin have an unwritten mutual protection pact. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So should the Kronos find themselves at war with the Imperium? [SPEAKER_00]: the older leagues will join in. [SPEAKER_00]: So that I think is, that's all the leagues, guys. [SPEAKER_00]: Will we get more on the coming years? [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, but those are all the leagues. [SPEAKER_00]: Again, go ahead and make your own. [SPEAKER_00]: You don't have to make one of these because you can actually make your own guys. [SPEAKER_00]: They're own kin, and they can be in one of these leagues or a different league. [SPEAKER_00]: Because in tenth edition, leagues don't matter. [SPEAKER_00]: You just get to be whatever the frickin' dumb rule is. [SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, I'm not over it. [SPEAKER_00]: But... [SPEAKER_00]: We do have two named characters. [SPEAKER_00]: One is new and one is old and old by, you know, he's a couple of years old. [SPEAKER_00]: I like the new one. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't like the old one. [SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to start with a new one because I find him much more entertaining. [SPEAKER_00]: And then we'll get to the old one. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll make Brad talk about that one for a bit. [SPEAKER_00]: And then yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And we'll go there. [SPEAKER_00]: So. [SPEAKER_00]: In general, when GW gives us a name's character, they usually give us pretty cool stories and more around them. [SPEAKER_00]: Unless it's a space-marrying captain, it will attend it because there's 8,000 of them. [SPEAKER_00]: There's so many. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, one of the cool things they did was this guy named, whoo. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, this is gonna be rough. [SPEAKER_00]: B.L. [SPEAKER_00]: How do I say this guy? [SPEAKER_00]: No. [SPEAKER_00]: This guy named Bury Agar Nesson, and his history is cool. [SPEAKER_00]: So as we covered before, there's a tyrannical hit the core. [SPEAKER_00]: And one of those tendrils took out the league of Emberg Iner block. [SPEAKER_00]: Sorry guys, we're at the end of the cast. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm getting a little bit tired and now I have to pronounce all the stuff that I can't pronounce. [SPEAKER_00]: So, love it here we go. [SPEAKER_01]: I like, I like you started off trying to say, sauteque was something insane, so I thought that was the highlight so far. [SPEAKER_00]: No, it wasn't something. [SPEAKER_00]: It was sound attack. [SPEAKER_00]: It actually, there's an M in there for some reasons. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not sausage. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what I would remember. [SPEAKER_00]: It was like, sound attack. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah, you know them. [SPEAKER_00]: All right, but [SPEAKER_00]: the ember anger block we covered a bit in the last cast because they are the ones who got attacked by a high fleet. [SPEAKER_00]: They threw their entire population to defend the core and the tierings ate the population and then moved on left the core alone because they don't want to eat the core. [SPEAKER_00]: What's interesting, no, is this is exposed a bit more about the function of the [SPEAKER_00]: The core went insane. [SPEAKER_00]: The loss of the kin around it and the interaction, apparently the cores do have a symbiotic relationship with the kin. [SPEAKER_00]: With them all gone, the core actually went insane. [SPEAKER_00]: To the point where when other kin went there to go rescue the core, the core attacked to them. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's basically labeled as a almost corrupted, but not scrapped code style corrupted. [SPEAKER_00]: There's a story occurs where another high fleet is attacking and the local league there or kindred there are packing up to leave. [SPEAKER_00]: They realize we can't beat this thing. [SPEAKER_00]: We got to get out of here and a ship appears in orbit. [SPEAKER_00]: And the ship is described as covered in acid and out of the ship comes [SPEAKER_00]: not high-fleet Leviathan, not high-fleet behemoth. [SPEAKER_00]: Teared all of them. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, tear-nits. [SPEAKER_00]: Every tear-nid I have declared a grudge against every tear-nid. [SPEAKER_00]: And he's going to personally punch each every one of them right and work if they had a dick where that would be. [SPEAKER_00]: He is coming for it. [SPEAKER_00]: And I like the way he appears, because his ship appears, [SPEAKER_00]: The doors open him and a bunch of warriors who are best described as death watch during war of the beast because they're all different leagues. [SPEAKER_00]: Some of them are heavily injured, all their armors down. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it's that they said almost all of them. [SPEAKER_01]: They're supposed to be this rag tag, those the scarred. [SPEAKER_01]: They kept talking about the scarers and stuff like that. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and their beat up and they came out on a mission to kick ass and chew bubble gum and they forgot all the bubble gum. [SPEAKER_00]: they then go on a beating mission and there's boots and mighty ass kicking. [SPEAKER_00]: We're going to do all of our catchphrases back to back here. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, and Yolo swag. [SPEAKER_00]: They're like, all of them. [SPEAKER_01]: We got all of our catchphrases with my boots. [SPEAKER_01]: Nobody has kicking me. [SPEAKER_00]: We got all of our catchphrases in one. [SPEAKER_00]: They go into this fleet. [SPEAKER_00]: The highlight is I'm just going to go with Bury himself jumps on the. [SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't describe which tune it is. [SPEAKER_00]: They just say it's the largest beast. [SPEAKER_00]: He basically went [SPEAKER_00]: And I found it, and he jumped on its back and beat it to death, and then after beating it to death, his warriors turned the tide, and this organized retreat that the local league was doing turns into a full-blown offense, and they actually destroy the swarm. [SPEAKER_00]: After which, Bury and his friends leave to go conquer more of a threat, they still are looking for their bubblegum. [SPEAKER_00]: They have continued to just rock solid with this style, yeah, which by the way, I didn't really tell the other day that they live is value-rody paper. [SPEAKER_00]: I was like, oh, oh, anyway, side note, but let's finish up with, who are the destined. [SPEAKER_00]: He's so lame, I'm just, he's not lame, he's not lame, he's okay, let's go through it. [SPEAKER_00]: Who is a destined? [SPEAKER_01]: All right, first off, he's super long lived and they were starting to wonder about the fact is he actually destined and then the rift opened and he starts rocking, cast. [SPEAKER_00]: Let me do his origin story this, I hate it. [SPEAKER_00]: So, the story on Uthar, the destined, is there was a crucible birthing, and around the Kussel birthing, a bunch of the machinery all around it began acting weird, and they'd never seen this before, and then Uthar was born, and the grim near and the other overseers were like, this person is he a magical child, is this about the child, he's an adult. [SPEAKER_00]: And at the same time that he was birthed, one of the other crucables made a sword. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, this is why I hate this story. [SPEAKER_00]: If you have the story, they made him and they made a magical sword at the same time. [SPEAKER_00]: So they must be destined together. [SPEAKER_00]: And so right after his birth and because they did, they do birth as full blown adults, he picked up the sword and was going to lead the greater Thorian League to greater victory. [SPEAKER_00]: And now fast forward, I don't know, a thousand years and it really hasn't been a lot of great victories and he's still got this sword and now people have asking questions of, well, is it really that special? [SPEAKER_01]: But it's hard to be special because in the battles of Tori, he do old, what was the world leader of Lauren? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, sure, sure. [SPEAKER_01]: Hackettar. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was Hackettar. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, whatever. [SPEAKER_01]: I could have looked this up and it's then I'm doing it on memory, baby, but he's had some epic cast battles. [SPEAKER_01]: He's, they, they remember we talked about the greater theory and losing a bunch of stuff because of the rift coming out. [SPEAKER_01]: Might as well. [SPEAKER_01]: Might a bunch of huge counter attacks towards being one of the biggest ones. [SPEAKER_00]: My dislike of him candidly is just, it's a lot of trope. [SPEAKER_00]: It's his piece of, he was destined, is he destined? [SPEAKER_00]: He was born the same time as a sword. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I just, my complaints around him are purely around. [SPEAKER_00]: It just goes very, very, trope-esque to me. [SPEAKER_00]: Whereas, you know, my boy, Bury has a real purpose. [SPEAKER_00]: And his purpose is beat up all the tyrannies and that's what Arthur shows up with he has but he has better stuff around him. [SPEAKER_01]: I'll give you that booth was the he's supposed to be the guy that's stopping the chaos rift and badly against the unimaginable evil. [SPEAKER_00]: No, he's also the guy, but he won't take, he's also the guy leaving the fight against the appearing. [SPEAKER_00]: He's also the guy leading the fight against Necrons. [SPEAKER_00]: It's my thing about him is I would prefer this more of a meeting. [SPEAKER_00]: I prefer my characters to have a bit more of a narrow focus and be more laser-dined to that. [SPEAKER_01]: I'll give you that. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, he was supposed to be only dude for exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and that's why he's milk toast to me. [SPEAKER_00]: Whereas, you know, Eldar, that's why I find we've lost him at Eurion, not Eurion. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the Eldar was terrible. [SPEAKER_00]: That's horrible. [SPEAKER_00]: So, the Eldar, we have Prince Eurion. [SPEAKER_00]: He's a very narrow focus character, but he's light years important. [SPEAKER_00]: I like that stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: It's more interesting to me. [SPEAKER_00]: Then like, I am here to lead all of the vote here. [SPEAKER_01]: I'll give her there. [SPEAKER_01]: I'll give you an, I'll concede that point because he is... [SPEAKER_01]: everywhere against everyone. [SPEAKER_01]: If they made it, just the cast guy, he would be more interested. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, if he's a guy who's like, hey, I have a plan and follow me guys. [SPEAKER_00]: I stole some stuff from the Necrons. [SPEAKER_00]: We're going to make some blackstone. [SPEAKER_00]: He could be awesome in that regard. [SPEAKER_00]: But it's, oh, yeah, wherever I have to be, I'm also here. [SPEAKER_01]: But his biggest claim to fame is all the cast stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: So they should have focused him on that. [SPEAKER_00]: And maybe they will. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll get an 11th edition codex. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll see they'll add more stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: But I think at that point the four Brad dies on me today. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm totally, I really can't. [SPEAKER_00]: Oxygen's going into my body and moving around is overrated. [SPEAKER_00]: You're not purple in the plus side because we're doing this on film. [SPEAKER_00]: So. [SPEAKER_00]: All right, but next week we're going to obviously leave the vote hand behind. [SPEAKER_00]: We've on somewhere else. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm going to finally do whatever's been yelling at me for a little bit. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep, my son's into sharks, because he's at that age, so you know what, I'm going to be into sharks. [SPEAKER_00]: We're doing the car caradons. [SPEAKER_00]: They are weird. [SPEAKER_00]: They are wild, and we're going to have to spend a lot of time. [SPEAKER_00]: I think discussing if you want to build a car caradon army, can you have primaries? [SPEAKER_00]: because I really don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: Also, they fight everyone, kind of a lot. [SPEAKER_00]: They're super cool. [SPEAKER_00]: I did like the book where they're fighting the night lords is a really cool book. [SPEAKER_00]: They will dive into this a lot, guys. [SPEAKER_00]: Carcaretons are super fun. [SPEAKER_00]: I know a lot of you like them. [SPEAKER_00]: A lot of you want to know more about them. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, to be fair, dammer, miniatards, start building a space marine army. [SPEAKER_00]: I'd probably paint one of those too. [SPEAKER_00]: I like them, silver skulls are okay. [SPEAKER_00]: But anyway, with that, John Barsotti, Brad Jester? [SPEAKER_00]: This guy. [SPEAKER_00]: See you guys next week. [UNKNOWN]: You
