And we should be live from my home studio. We're not in the actual studio today. We'll live with me and Tim Getty's wewome man, buddy, thank you so much for having me. Man. This has been a long time in the making, and I am honestly honored. I am I'm on it. I'm so excited to have you here. Chat please right off the rip. But this is a recorded podcast, and I apologize for addressing chat immediately. As we go live, Please let me know everything sounds good and looks good because I'm doing this. No producer oor me. We're fifteen minutes late because of that, so let me know if anything sounds bad. Tim. How you're feeling today, dude, I'm feeling fantastic. We had an awesome Nintendo Indie World yesterday. I know it might have let some down, but there's a lot of great games that I can't wait to talk about. I actually have got to play a whole bunch of them because we did a kind of funny slash Indie Mix events last month where we had a ton of the developers showcased yesterday in the Indie World come through our studio and we did a whole like eight hour stream of just hanging out with devs playing the game. So I got to play a lot of these things and they're awesome, So really excited to talk about all that. Yeah, a lot of a lot of them dropped on the A shop too. I haven't had a chance to play them, but Anton Blast, I saw what's the one that looks like Breath of the Wild but it's not. Oh Europa, Yeah, Europa dropped on the shop, and then there was there was I think that's laid the demo. Yeah, oh gotcha? Yea yeah, yeah yeah, and then there was one. There was one more demo that dropped on the E shop yesterday and I'm blanking on what it is. And the Turtles games come now too. Yeah yeah? And did you do you feel like every time we get one of these indie directs, everyone's disappointed games Day. That's exciting, but I do think it's pretty cool that we're at a point that there are games like Hallow Night Silk Song that people are ravenous for. Like, anytime there's an indie showcase, whether it's Nintendo or Xbox anywhere now, people are in the chat like where is Hollow Night? In a way that I've only seen people talk about elden Ring or Kingdom Hearts in the past. So while I understand where the disappointment appointment can stem from, I'm just happy we're at a point that these showcases can allow for disappointment. I agree one hundred percent, and like that's where I was leaning into with the title of today's episode. But in general, just the feeling online. I feel like this has been going on for literally four years now, where every time we get an indie direct, if Silk Song isn't showcased in the event, it's a bad it's a bad indie direct. And like all of these wonderful games, these charming games, these these indie games, which are games that have so much love poured into them with these small development teams, they get absolutely crapped on and ignored and me, you know, just because Silk Song isn't there, which to be honest, at this point, I feel like Silk Song is too big of a game to even be in an indie direct. I think it's like progressed to the point where it would be in a main direct. Well, that's the thing, right, it's kind of graduated on where its needs are and there's multiple perspectives to look at that with, because you know, a Hollow Night very associated with Switch for good reason, right, Like obviously it was on Steam, but the Switch release I think was really the moment everyone started really looking at it, like in twenty seventeen and beyond that it became kind of this phenomenon, and I think the pandemic and streaming had a lot to do with that. But as they announced Silk Song, there's been so much excitement for it and so many people like clamoring for it that none of us really expected to see it be shown again at the Xbox showcase at last Summer game Fest, and that was like such a big surprise, And then of course that was the showcase that not last. I guess two years ago Waxbox announced that everything you're seeing in this showcase today will be out in the next twelve months, and obviously that ended up not being true in a couple cases. But I think that Hollow Night being kind of the bigger example of that. But I think with all of that, it's expected for me that we'll see Hollow Night at Summer game Fest proper. At Jeff Keeley's kickoff events. I think at this point, that's probably the safest bets. Having said that, though, I do think that it's not crazy to think that it could have been at Indie World. I feel like, no, it's not crazy to think that by any means. Yeah, Like I feel like they there is something about trying to build the reputation of what an indie world can be and show that, hey, the biggest, most typed indie game ever could show up there, because yeah, it does belong there. It is cool that it also belongs in bigger showcases. But I feel like, you know, a lot of the people don't want the indie showcases to be seen as lesser than so put some big megatine stuff there. And when you don't, this is what happens. Everybody's upset. But everyone's gonna be upset. I mean, I feel that's the thing. It doesn't matter what they put in there if it's not like Silk Song or even something super recognizable. But SteamWorld Heist two, which was the thing that ended, that's huge. The SteamWorld dig series in general on the switch as indies have sold incredibly well. I like to pull this statistic all the time, but SteamWorld Dig two sold more on Switched than Steam. I've said that so many times on this podcast, but it was like like over ten million copies or something on Switch. So Steam SteamWorld is huge, especially to get that at the end of an indy that's like that's like ending a main direct with like the next Kirby game or the next you know, f zero game. Like it's it's something to that level, and I feel like it just gets it gets totally skipped over on memed On. Yeah, And that's the thing too, is like Steam World in particular, you know, I'm giving a lot of flowers to to holler night kind of being this a very rare example of an indie game that has transcended the levels of hype for its sequel that the people are like just so ravenous for it. But you look at age twenty four when it comes to movies, like there's a level of expectation of what those movies are going to be. They might not all hit, but you know they're taking the swing. You know that you're in for a cinematic experience, unlike things that you've seen on this more artful level. Right, Devolver Digital is that on the video game side, and we've seen them for now a decade put out countless titles that are very unique and very specific to the indie mindset right, And I love that we're at a point now that Devolver's not alone Thunderful Games. As a publisher, I always like to point out as like everyone should be keeping their eyes on them. They put out Planet Iblana recently, and they also helped publish a Viewfinder, But Steam World is their big thing, and I love the amount of care they put into that franchise and making sure that they are splintering it off, trying different genres with the spinoffs, but making sure that they have a good cadence of releases that respects players time, but also doesn't let the franchise just die off. Like I just think it's so important that we have indie franchises they can have spinoffs that are also successful, and to focus on them as the closers to these showcases, because that's the placement they deserve. I agree so much. I'm glad you're you're so on board with this. I love indies so much. Actually, the guy who runs the Indie World events, his name's Jav. I actually met him. He used to work for Gearbox. When I was living in Texas. I went over to Gearbox that their studios there, and I met this guy who used to work there, and then he left to go work for Nintendo and for the first couple of Indie Worlds after as soon as they went life, he would message me and be like, what did you think, because he wanted feedback on the events that he's structuring, And one of the early feedbacks I gave was, I love that you have the indie developers themselves introducing their games because it puts a face to the name. It really makes it feel more like here's who made this game, and it feels it feels like you're connecting and you're closer and you want to support that person. That was one of the early feedbacks I gave to him, and he was like, oh, great, thank you. I'll keep doing that, which you probably would have anyway. But yeah, there's even down to the people at Nintendo that are putting together these events. There is so much love for indians and showcasing them, which is why I just get a little bit bummed out when, like, you know, Kataku who like, uh, this is a katakh article. My mouse is like freaking out again. I can't scroll down right now. Okay, here we go. Silksung fans won't survive another round of disappointment, and like they take, they take the event, and they just kind of focus more on the negative of it all than the positive of it all. And that there was a couple more articles too that really just highlighted the Silk Song thing. And funny enough, going back to like the first, uh well second, second, I think episode of this podcast that Bob and I did, it was about an indie world and we had a few indie devs on and we were like, hey, stop being so hard on these indies and just kind of appreciate it that these small teams are getting their games showcase in this large platform because there are people behind these, you know, and uh yeah, I just hate, I hate every time you go into the live chat and so like a bunch of these a bunch of snoozes wear Silk Song. They're putting clowns in the chat. Meanwhile, there's this like cute, little cute little game about cats that a team of two people Kitty Big City. I'm so excited for a little kiddy Big City. Good. Like that's a game that we we've I've had. I've played multiple times now at a different events, and the devs care so much and it's just such a fun, cute little time and like it's it's cool, like it's a it's a cool experience. That's May ninth, that's coming out like not too far from now. And another Crab Treasure is another great one, like it's a soul's like you're a crab and it's good. Yeah, it's good. Yeah, man, there's there was so much great stuff shown and I totally feel you and I I think that the disease in the chat and all of that is a symptom of a very online age of people, and I wish it didn't happen. But again, I do think that if you can see pasted and see through the negativity on the surface, it's coming from a good place. I think of coming from a place of being excited for video games and being willing to watch a thing hoping that the thing you want is there. I do think there are people that take it way too far, and I feel like, uh, you know, there's there to your point about writing articles about people being upset about silks. I'm not being there. It's like, well, you should be writing articles about another Crabs Treasure or yeah, I know, highlight the Blasts or these other games. But I'm glad we agree on that because it's it's really nice and refreshing to get that viewpoint with me too, as someone that's like so close to it, because like Bob, Bob and I were on the same page with this, and we used to talk about this all the time, both on and off air, so it's really nice to have this conversation again. Speaking of this conversation, actually we dived so quickly into this for two reasons. One, you are so passionate about games, and you ran away with the conversation, which is fantastic. But two, when we went live, there was immediately issues. I was trying to figure out you were. You were silent for about a minute. Ah good, good, Sorry, and I was just frantically trying to do that. We'll keep the conversation moving, but I do want to I want to talk about you really quickly. It's just who our guest is today who clearly loves video games so much. This is Tim Getties. You were Tim Getties. Did you know I did from Yeah? No, dude, don't. Who is from? Kind of Funny Games. In fact, you've been with them essentially since the start twenty fourteen. I believe they were following in twenty thirteen. Okay, since since you are, you're a founder and I knew that right. Wikipedia definitely didn't lie to me about that. Oh yeah, no, Well that's that's the thing. We don't need to get too much into all the details, but just let I'll set the record straight here. Back in the day, me and Greg Miller a couple of other people worked at IGN for many years, and then eventually in twenty fifteen, we quit IGN to form kind of Funny and we've been doing that ever since, very very successfully, I might add, thank you. I appreciate that successfully enough, I would say, which I think is the most important thing in the era that we're living in now, where every other day teams are getting laid off and media is just straight up closing. We pride ourselves on being very small and making our twenty thousand US of video work. You know, somebody has to do it. I mean, I know you have a large and booming Patreon and a hardcore supporting audience. I'm sure your audio goes hard because you're always in the top iTunes and I'm sure the shots as well. So you have it. It's going, it's working. Yeah, yeah, I mean really, that's the thing is, we've been doing video game podcasts forever, since the dawn of video game podcasts, like Greg Miller with Beyond the PlayStation podcast back at edging n one of the founding video game podcasts really pop up. And I'm talking back in like two thousand and six, like this is old school stuff, so there's legacy there. But yeah, we do video game podcasts every day. We're live on Twitter and YouTube and then podcast services time out video games and now I get to talk about Nintendo with what I know you were saying that you don't really get to talk about Nintendo as much as you would like as a Nintendo guy over there on kind of funny, there's like a lack of Nintendo. Yeah, it's it's rough just because so I'm the Nintendo guy and like, granted, there's a ton of people that love Nintendo. That kind of funny, and we talk about it a lot, but I know, we just have dedicated PlayStation and Xbox podcasts just because of the state of things, and so I'm always just bummed that we have other shows to talk about it, but like I wish I had a place to yeah out about the nitty gritty detail bay where you are. I was looking at your Wikipedia though. I just found this funny line here that I wanted to read to you. It's a description about your show, so kind of funny. The channel, this is Wikipedia. The channel covers games, film, television, and comics, but often touches on other subjects such as snack foods and politics. They're not wrong, they're not wrong a little bit. So you get video games and then other than that, the two other staples snack foods and Biden. Yeah, I mean real though, that's a fairly accurate way to talk about kind of funny. I'm in pallor to you, I personally over here. There's some things that I just I can't touch and snack food snack foods is one of the Yeah, you saw where I was going with that. I can't do it, Okay, So there's still a ton of other things we can talk about today. Did you watch I did in preparation for this episode. Actually, last night my wife and I we sat down and watched the first episode of the new Fallout show. Yeah, yeah, have you seen it? Oh dude, it's I'm so happy of on this episode of the show. So let me let me ask you a question. Have you played the Fallout games? Yeah, I've played. You're gonna hate me. I played full Out four and fall Out seventy six is my full Out experience. Okay, Well, I don't hate you because I've never played Fallout games. Okay, is wild? It is. It is definitely one of the biggest kind of like blind spots I have in giant video game franchises over the years, and so many people around me love it. They're always talking it up. I'm not a big open world guy, so it makes sense. Way do you like mine? What do you think of Birth of the Wild and Tears of the King I love bro I love it. I make exceptions for when things like when there's ip that really grabs me, like Breath the Wild and Here's the Kingdom, two of my favorite games ever, Final Bands seven, Rebirth I absolutely adore. I will make exceptions, but I prefer smaller games most of the time. But Fallout I was like everybody watched the show at kind of funny and was like, dude, this is so good. It's so good, tim you should watch it, Like, I know you don't play the games, but I think this might be a great introduction to the world to you. And so me and my fiance sat down and we're only three episodes in, but I am obsessed. It is so good. Yeah, I'm a big fan of game adaptations and I've been rooting for them for a long time, and I feel like I'm finally thriving. Like it's been so hard for so long, with so much. But we're at a point now that when a new TV show where movies announced based on a video game, I don't assume it's going to be bad. It's going to be at least okay, that's great. I don't know if I assume that just yet, but I would though. I mean, let's think about the last like four years of Halo movies, and Halo's the one example of less been okay, okay, like and greted that was a miss, Like I have a big Halo guy, and man, got my got that show was just not I guess. I guess yeah, with TV, You're right, I mean, I I guess I'm thinking of movies as well, Like it's kind of swaying it like unshotted. Did you watch them charted? I put it on a watch. The first ten minutes I was like, I can't do this. It's not bad. And I'm not saying it's last of us levels, but like it's it's it's good. Okay, it's a major. Yeah. Again, I'm not saying that like they're all hidden on like the best level ever. I'm just saying, like comparing it to like superhero movies, where for years and years we got utter trash like the Fantastic Four movies and the Daredevil Electra stuff like all then go for it. I like the I like the Dead Devil movie. Well you got I mean, it's nostalgic. But yeah, of course, yeah, of course when we're talking about quality. You know, then when we got to two thousand and eight, we had Iron Man a Dark Knight, and then obviously that's set off this like run all the way to where we're at now. There was hits and misses all the way around. But there was a long stretch of time that if a superhero movie trailer came out, we can all watch it and we'll be like, we know what tier it's falling into. I feel like we're there with game stuff now where you know, the Last of Us was amazing, The Mario movie was awesome for what it was. The Sonic movies are great for what they are. Yeah, I just feel That's my thing is like I'm just I'm excited that we're in an era that getting back to Fallout. I for the first time ever with these am watching an adaptation of a game that I have no experience with. So how does the world resonate with me? And it turns out very well when it's well done, and I'm so into the show, and I think that they're they're doing a great job of grasping new audiences that aren't necessarily gamers or even that are gamers that just haven't played the Fallout games. Yeah, I know, I got two spinoffs here. I want to mind me to tell you the thing about Kim because that's to do with you haven't seen the games, but about like the video games getting turned into shows. I was realizing that as I was watching last night, I was like, this is the new era of like, you know, movies being made from books and like written media from over the years. It's like, oh, this book's being adaptated. We're at a point now where video games are so influential, are so grandiosean like larger than life, that we're getting these really cool ideas, all these really cool concepts and video games being adaptated to shows to the point where anyone can watch them and they can be like, oh, this was a game, like did you know this was actually a game, rather than like did you know this was used to be a book? Or you know this used to be a poem or something like that. And I had that realization last night. I was like, Man, the doors that could open if any game from all of these years, you know, you go back to like three sixty era, and some of the really cool ideas that they had could be turned into a TV show or a movie. The stories we could have. The other thing you don't have to remind me. I thought i'd forget. But back to it is with Kim Is. We watched the first episode last night. I'm not going to give any spoilers because I don't want to be that guy. But we finished the episode and I looked at Kim and I was like, so, what did you think? And she was like, well, I haven't played the games, but I really liked it. And I was thinking about that when she said, I was like, you know, with Fallout, you don't need to that is it, like, if anything, that show has way more I don't want to say way more story, but way more like forced character narrative than the games, because the game is really the story is set up very similar where it's like you're back in the nineteen a futuristic nineteen fifties. A bomb goes off, you wake up in a shelter, and then you leave from there. It's that's it. I mean, you have like a wasteland, you meet all these characters, you go on an adventure, but the adventure is yours. It's very single character narrative and just how you kind of like skyri him, you know, you kind of build your own story. There isn't like, you know, like what the show has done with these three grand narrative twisting storylines with like all these arcs. It really feels like they're doing a like a thronesy type thing, but with the premise of as apocalyptic world after a you know, a complete nuke event has gone off, it's really cool. I yeah, there's a couple parts that I thought were a little I think it's a little corny and a little like hammed up. It almost feels like video gaming at points, just with kind of how hammy. Some of the action is like again, no spoilers, but the first big action scene in the Vault felt very cartoony to me, very very hammed up. But I was able to be in the zone for that and be like, Oh, it's a quirky, kind of off the wall show. It's not like super realistic, whereas Last of Us kind of feels more gritty and real and it's like, you don't really think about it as a video game. This feels like a video game TV show but it works. Yeah, I mean, I'm super inso far, and yeah, just other examples of some great shows recently are Cyberpunk, edge Runners and Arcane the League Legend show on Netflix. Like they're incredible examples of video game adaptations that can think outside the box just a little bit. But like we're just we're in a very good era of this. I think it's gonna gonna continue. And I can't wait to keep watching Fallout because it's it's awesome. Yeah, I uh wait, what was that show you just said? Edge Runners? Yeah, I watched that too, and that's just someone that I don't know if you've seen my Cyberpunk review or heard of it, but I was not a fan of the Cyberpunk game. And then that show came out and people like you got to check it out. I was like, Okay, more of more of this world. But yeah, it was awesome. It was six. I hated that it was like a one and done type story too, because like immediately I wanted so much more, but the one and done also made it so much more memorable. The way it was animated was so cool. Uh. Yeah, that show was. That show was sick. Yeah, there is show a Twisted Metal as well. Everyone hated on Twisted Metal. It's very good. I have not great. I haven't. I haven't seen it, but I saw the trailer and I saw some clip the trail and I was like, I don't want this. Literally the worst clip ever, I don't know, Like, I don't think a show has ever been done more of a disservice than that song song clip that they played. It was horrible, Like that was by far the worst. What are the ratings of that show? They high the reviews. That's the thing is, like the people that actually watched the show. Were surprised and how good it was by the time, So didn't it No it comverra dude for season two, and I'm like everybody that finished season one, I don't know a single person actually finished it that by the end of it wasn't Like God, I hope we get a season two. Hold on like they earned it by the end of it. Twisted metal, very funny ratings. I want to see the ratings. I'll have to watch it. I mean it's got fifty five on Metacritic, sixty seven on Rotten Tomatoes, seven point four and IMDb. I mean that definitely. Point four sounds right. Seven point four to me, Like, yeah, that's what we're talking. One point four could be could be a show. That could be a show. What are you drinking? Then went to Starbucks, go a little coked, then turns to ice coffee. You know, to start your cream now straight black baby, Okay, all right, rip it jet Fuel. Another reason why I wanted to bring up the Fallout show is because I think it's such a missed opportunity, especially right now because that game that show has seen such a boom, Like on Twitch Fallout four is exploded, the downloads and the people active players on Steam for Fallout games have exploded, we still do not have a Fallout game on Switch, and it seems like such a missed opportunity. I mean, Fallout four is it's like essentially the same engine as Skyrim. You already have Skyrim on the Switch. It's Bethesda. I mean, Skyrim is one of the most popular selling games on Switch. It was promoted in like the first marketing of the console we ever saw on the plane iconic like, how do we not have a Fallout game? Like it seems like such a no brainer? Are such an easy thing to just pour it over? Yeah, so you're bringing up amazing points. Earlier you were talking about how there's stats that you love bringing up One of my favorite things is in this era of video game adaptations hitting, where if the shows and movies are good, people are going to be interested in the IP. We're seeing the truth in that because every single time one of these has happened, we've seen the sales skyrocket. Yeah, games on Steam and otherwise. This happened with Cyberpunk, with Edge Runners, it happened with The Witcher on Netflix, it happened with Last of Us, and it happened with Mario. Every single time these projects come out, the games skyrocket and sales because there's interest of new people coming in or people that are like, I want to go back. I got to be back in this world. Guess what I did this weekend after watching Fallout New Vegas for the first time on my Steam deck, and it's like, that's that's the power of this. Granted it was on sale for two dollars and fifty cents. Oh my god, still it sale. I think it is them, but uh but yeah, so it's like there is a strategy there that really works. So it is very surprising that not only is there not a Fallout on switch, but there's not a new Fallout period. They're they're really leaning in on They're putting out an update I think next week for a Fallout four to be next gen enhanced with all the good easy dude. Fallout four on Steam right now is five dollars, New Vegas is two dollars, fifty three is five dollars, and Fallout seventy six is eight dollars. Dude, you could get in on some full Out right now. Yeah. So fall Out four again, and uh, it's working everybody because honestly, the show does such a good job of like making you want to explore that world like immediately, Yeah, totally. And so that's the thing is, like it it's weird that there's not a new Fallout, but it also makes sense because it's Bethesda, and you look at what's been going on with them the last couple of years, They're just not in a place to be able to to do that. Like I would expect we're going to get a remake of either New Vegas or Fallout three or something in the next couple of years, But with them working on Starfield that just came out the DLC and all that we know they're working on Elder Scroll six, what do you think, I'm not an open world gume, So I just yeah, yeah, it's not so yeah. I mean, I know it's there's a lot of ups and downs with it all, But when it comes to to Fallout on Switch, I just feel like the time for that to have happened in a weird way is passed. Because now that they're owned by Microsoft, I just feel like there's like even more levels of figuring things out and like how that would happen because the Skyroom stuff happened before that all went down. Having said that, we're also in an era where we've seen PlayStation and Microsoft in different ways be more open to porting their games to PC or to other consoles. And we've seen Microsoft in the past, specifically with the Switch, having more friendly relationship dating back obviously that they like Minecraft, but also Or one and two. Yeah, Cuphead granted different scenarios because of the relationship between those studios and Microsoft. They're not actual Xbox game studios, but now we have but Deesda actually is under them. I would not be surprised to see them port older games because there's no reason not to. I mean, it run already though, like to coincide with the show, but also like the Switch is just in that last year and I feel like, I mean, I can't see sales numbers for games releasing on the E show up or physically now. But with the Insane library the options people have, the console kind of in its last year and people kind of thinking, AH might save my money in case I announced something for a new console end of the year. I want to make sure I can buy it on launch. I feel like now it's like the worst time to finally launch something like that. I just don't think it's going to have the same impact as it did before. So I feel like if it hadn't happened already and it didn't happen pre show, it's just not gonna happen, which seems like I don't know out of old like I do. I have a big library of Switch game set behind me here, but out of all of them, I feel like the biggest glaring hole in the Switch library as far as like a port side of things is the Fallout series. Like I can't I can't think of a bigger gap honestly right now of like just should have happened. Well. I think the reason for that is the PS three three sixty era of games was kind of pushing the limits of the Switch and still kind of is pushing the limits of the Switch. That's why we see so many of those like cloud based solutions. And clearly it wasn't working that great because while Skyrim sold very well, you look at things like BioShock and it just didn't really work that well, you know, or even when this is a different generation, but when they put Doom out, like the games just don't like they are definitely the lesser than versions, and clearly they have to be because of the switch hardware. But I'm not surprised that something like Fallout that is kind of known for its jank, like the Bethesda games are always kind of broken, even when they're at their best. So the idea of putting them out on the Switch, I can see them being like, you know what, some things just aren't worth it. Yeah, maybe, but I don't know. Do you have Skyrim? It's the same engine. Also, the jank is what like makes the game special. I think people are okay with it, honestly, but yeah, it's just that's true. But for a game to come out, like if they were to put it out now, it wouldn't be on sale. It would be a full price game. Yeah, gay with that like kind of just a different five Steam exactly. And that's the biggest thing too, is like, you know, god, hey, I love Nintendo and I love Tech and that's a very hard place to be because they do not like each other. I will always be blown away that we got an OLED switch that felt like an impossibility and I love the thing. It looks so damn good, But like these games just uh it in a world where on the Switch. If a Fallow were to come out in twenty twenty four, it would play like garbage. And then meanwhile, every you could play these games on the new consoles, and they're just getting constant. Games that came out in twenty twelve are getting updated to be four K, one hundred and twenty phrase per second all this stuff, and it's just like, oh, man, like for free. You don't need to buy it, It's just there. It's just like and especially with things like game Pass and all that, it's like, I just think it gets to be a tougher and tougher sell. But to your point, Skyrim is one of the highest selling games on Switch Cell. They're leaving money on the table. You know, it's funny that you say that four K sixty. I mean, you are right. I mean it's even like with Red Dead coming to Switch that was really cool and it was cool that it ran at sixty frames. I'm pretty sure. But then you do look at like the Xbox version and it has that four K enhanced You just like put the game in and it automatically downloads an enhanced four K version of the game, like a specifically modern version of the game. Four Xbox. It's like, hmm yeah, or and I think sure that it's on game Pass too, at least it was for a long time, or I could spend you know, sixty dollars or whatever it was at launch again to buy it to the nicety of playing a handheld, so it isn't much harder buy in. But it's funny you mentioned that because it gets me so excited for the switch to, and I I know, are you I put it? You know it's funny. No matter what I do, I get caught out for clickbait. I can't win. But last week I made the episode title something like the switch to will be four K sixty fps, and in the first ten minutes I talked about why and then people will like clickbait, but like I legitimately don't, it's not. I am pretty steadfast with the next switch is going to be four K sixty? Did you hear an actual way this? No way wild to say that, you don't think so not a chance? Okay, what hold on? What do you mean by this? Like four K sixty like standard or for some games sometimes might be four K sixty because I could buy that, but like we're not even at four K sixty on the PS five games. Dude, my Alexa is going off behind me and I had a brain fit for a second. So here's I don't know if you heard about this, but this actually leads into the next thing I wanted to talk about. I actually already had it queued up, so oh wait, let me get rid of whatever that is so you can see that. I'm yeah, boom. Nintendo confirms it won't attend games Com twenty twenty four. This actually leads back into this a little bit because I want to talk about this last year at Games Come. Did you hear that Nintendo were there and they brought a showcase of what the next switch. They essentially brought the switch to, and they showed it to developers. Did you hear about what those developers leaked about what they were seeing. So essentially what was leaked to what they were saying is it was running Breath of the Wild four K sixty frames with essentially no load screens. That's what the rumor in the leak was. Back then. For the longest time, I've had this theory, and a lot of us had this theory for a couple of years now that the switch to will have that N video chip, something that's probably specifically signed for U, built for switch, but featuring the AI upscaling where it'll be able to AI upscale to four K. So my theory is, and what it sounds like, you know happened at games Com last year, is they have a switch portably. Sure it's probably ten ADP because you don't really need more than that on a little screen. But when you doc it, AI upscales to four K, and I don't think at that point sixty frames or the like low low load screens are really that much of a question in twenty twenty five, you know, especially for an older game like Breath of the While you could get games like Mario Caar, Mario Cup, the older games. But look at you're saying, look at Deluxe, which came out, you know, on pretty much on launch, that was ten eighty sixty frames, So really we're just asking for it. It was a game that came out five years before that. Yeah, but you're now we're just designing a new Mario Kart with the switch in that can do sixty frames, but just AI upscale to four K. I mean, that's really not that much if it can't if we're not doing that small little leap up after nine years. What are we doing here? What's even the point of putting out something new? Well, okay, I mean I think that we're just at a point where being able to create games that way, Like the tech has gotten so advanced that like, yeah, that to even have a jump requires so much. And look, we're looking at the current consoles and these games are coming out and even needing performance modes and fidelity modes, and at launch they neither of them, rarely ever even worked to begin with. Like Jedi Survivor came out last year and it was a disaster. I loved the game, but like, performance wise, it just simply didn't work because it was just way too ambitious for what it was trying to do technically. And that's just because these systems are being marketed as being able to do four K sixty frames per second. Eight K is on the box at the BS five. It's like y'all are just putting out marketing things to get people's expectations just totally out of whack on this. To your point about the games comp thing, It's interesting because Nintendo wasn't at games Com last year with that they were just they were there, but like unofficially and behind the scenes showing things off them skipping games Com. This year, it's no different. Nintendo reps will be there. What this means is they're just not going to have a big Kiosk situation for demos and all of that stuff. Like, I feel like this news story is almost a non story because it's just like, all right, well, it's very similar to last year and how they normally do these things. Nintendo's never had a big Games comm presence in terms of announcements or any of that. Like, especially with the success that they found with Nintendo Live last year at Pax West packs. Not only is it closer to them being Seattle and Washington, I feel like it is something that they've been able to kind of triple down on. And even if they don't have big announcements, they can still which I don't think they do this year, they can still kind of create excitement around Nintendo for fans, but by having fun little Pokemon events and like take pictures with Splatoon characters and all that type of stuff. You know, Yeah, there's a louticle says, you know, they set off the careful consideration from all perspectives. We decided not to be president twenty twenty four games colm players for the opportunity to try out instead of switch games at other events through the year. So yeah, so your point, it sounds like they'll still be popping up at other events and doing like little fun things. But yeah, I didn't know that they that they technically won even there last year, So maybe they'll go again this year, which is actually exciting to think that we might get some more little leaks and rumors about maybe maybe they bring up an updated version of whatever the Switch Too is behind the scenes. But I mean, that's the thing, Like GDC just happened. I guarantee the same things happened at that event, they just didn't leak, you know what I mean, Like, yeah, these things are always happening, Like that's how deals are made, That's how games are made. Is these events. You know, we look at it as like the front facing kind of consumer. Either we get to go there and get our hands on demos or stay home and watch the live streams to get the announcements and stuff. But the reality of the events is that is just the smallest part to the people going. They are doing meetings behind closed doors for deals for the next games or show selling people on tech and concepts. So going back to your point though about the four K six, Yeah, it's gonna say I want more of this because I I really do believe it. So I believe what you said about the AI stuff. I think AI is going to be the key to the next generation. And that's true for both this switch to and for this mid console refresh ro about to get from PS five pro uh and then whatever Xbox Series Z or whatever the hell they end up doing. There's clearly been a huge push and AI is a dirty word in a lot of ways. But the AI people don't like is the generative A. Yeah, this is this isxact kind of AI. This ain't that, This ain't This is a technology based thing that has been happening forever and Nvidia has been at the forefront of it. And I will never forget seeing when the in video g Force thirty eighty cards or thirty seventy cards were first announced. In video actually brought me and Andy Cortes to their headquarters to show us DLSS tech what it's going to do, and we got to see Death Stranding play at normal resolution and then we got to see it super sampled up. It was one of the most mind blown blowing things I'd ever seen. At that point, I was literally seen similar technology. I don't know why you're like arguing, well, yeah, well, because it's not real four K No, yeah, no, I don't I never said it would be real full K. And see that's why that's why I agree with you. At the end of the day, you're talking about AI. Yeah, but yeah, I feel like it's you can't say it's running at four K sixty because it's not really running it, right, Okay, I get what you're saying, But like I do think that that whatever, that the future of game tech is going to be this AI super sampling. And yeah, again, a lot of leaks from PS five pro the last couple of days talking about PSSR, which is PlayStation solution to it. Nintendo is going to have one, and it is going to make a lot of games run seemingly at four K, which, at the end of the day is all that matters is does it look like it to your eyes? I was gonna say, do you think if if you had two TVs identical TVs one running four K sixty native and the other one, let's say two K sixty upscaled, you'd be able to pick them out and be like that one that's the real one. Well, so that's a hard thing to answer because no, not just based on that fact, but it's the little details. It's adding the other things like ghosting, and it's adding the weird effects that DLSS and other similar AI protocols have been having to deal with the last couple of years. But like again, it's what's the lesser evil, because yeah, you're either trying to push the resolution. There's variable resolutions and that does not look great most of the time, just to try to stick to that frame rate. But but even then, even with all this stuff, I would be shocked if it's even with AI, four K sixty was standard on the switch to I just don't see that happening. Yeah, no, no, I'm here. I was just thinking, like standard, I mean, standard is a tough thing to say. I mean I never said standard because like you look at like PlayStation five and Xbox one series X seven nineteen, whatever the hell they call that console. They said four K sixty on the box, but like nothing's nothing's four K sixty like nothing, So like, and that's that's what I'm saying, we shouldn't expect to switch. Well, yeah, I guess, I guess you're right. I should probably clarify. I never really thought about it. I guess for me, it's a given right. You say something, you say, like the switch is four K sixty, that's me saying it could do four K sixty. Here are the caveats. Not every game, because every game is variable. You can't. You can have something like Hades two running at four K sixty probably native every day all day. That'd probably be easy even for a handheld console. But would you have something like let's say they port over Final Fantasy seven remake, which apparently there are rumors behind the scenes that that is running on the switch too, would that be four K sixty native? No, of course not. And it's the same with like Xbox and PlayStation Like is god a War four K sixty native? No? Is Ory four K sixty native? Yes? So like that's my line of thinking. When I say the switch is going to be four K sixty, here are the caveats. Is most likely going to be two K or something around like a sixteen hundred by nine hundred or whatever. That's i AI upscaled to four K, but would look great on a TV. Games like the new Mario Car, games like Breath of the Wild Tears of the Kingdom are going to look and play better than ever before. The load screens are going to be quicker. Could we have some games running at four K sixty native? Yeah, like the Hades and the one in the in the indie games, or like the lower the lower end as far as like pushing pushing the console to its limits experiences, But yeah, four K sixty. I don't mean every game is gonna run at four K sixty, but I do think there will be some experiences that you can put on your four K TV and they will finally not look like crap. Yeah. Yeah, I guess you're just more optimistic than I am about that. Like I do think some I just don't think. I don't think that there's gonna be enough for that to even actually be a viable marketing point for them, because like the games that you're talking about, like even the Breath of the Wild, like Birth the Wild. Sure, that's a game that came out in twenty seventeen, don't you think it Don't you think it does matter at this point though, Like my biggest thought process here is that everybody has a four K TV at this point going into twenty twenty five, Like you can buy a four K TV for cheaper than you can buy a Nintendo Switch console. Like don't you think that as far as like marketing goes, isn't it important for Nintendo and for the consumers that are buying this console to know that their games are gonna at least look good on their TV this time around? That that's a huge market. I feel like that's like when we went in into like the Wiu era, and everyone was complaining that the Wii you didn't have HDMI, you know, and Nintendo was so late, and that that hurt sales for the we. I mean the we didn't. It hurts some sales for the we. I mean, the Wii was super popular, but I know, in like the hardcore market, a lot of people didn't want to get the Week because it didn't have HDMI and they wanted it. They wanted games to look nice and crisp on their TV at the time. You know, I think I think it's important. I mean, I agree with what you're saying, I just as somebody that's followed Nintendo. Yeah, okay, yeah, I mean I agree with that so that more than anybody, man, I really do. I just feel like, like, yeah, like there will be games to play four K, there will be games to play sixty. There will be very few games to play at four K sixty. I think that's I mean, I agree with that sentiment too, right, Like, here's what this is everything with Nintendo. When we predict Nintendo, here's what makes sense, Here's what they should do, Here's what they actually do, and that's yeah, that's the case every single time. I'm on board with you completely. Like my picture of what the sw which two even is, I'm like building a video of it now, and I don't want to give spoilerss because I'm working really hot on that video. But like my version of what the Switch Too is, I've talked about it on the podcast. It's essentially like a souped up switch. Like I feel like that's all, that's all it should be. But when has Nintendo, outside of like the Super Nintendo, ever directly followed up a console was something that function functionality wise essentially worked the same, you know, So that it's an interesting conversation that I can't wait to have with you here. So it's really cool to look back at the history of Nintendo and to see them always kind of be a in a post end sixty four world, specifically kind of being a little bit different than what the rest of the people are doing. Where there was Sega back in the day, PlayStation Xbox being the better examples in modern times, but the Wei was then being like, hey, our games are about fun and they're about accessible ability to people. They're not about pushing the barriers of tech, which is where gaming clearly kept going in that and you see where we got to finally the switch of that working out for Nintendo because they got the big mainstream audience with the Wii. Then they came out the WEIU that really didn't serve anybody because it wasn't good enough for the mainstream casual people that loved We Sports, loved we Fit, but never really came back. And the we you never had that mainstream Megaton must play killer app. Yeah, Like, I feel like the We did such a good job of and hey, I'm saying this as a hardcore Nintendo gameer or whatever, did such a good job of proving why the Wei motes were necessary and why motion controls worked. Yeah, and the we you just never proved why the game pad worked. Like, yeah, some Nintendo Land was fun. I loved Nintendo Land. I liked That's the thing is that I think to like, but like it's not like, oh, man, I need this, you need to try this, And they just never came out with the game that proved oh this is why this had to happen. And amazing games of the WIU as we all know because we played them on Switch, Like it's it is what it is. But when we look at the fact that the Switch was Nintendo's first console ever, that they weren't making games for a handheld and a home console, they were just making games for the Switch after that initial overlap of the three DS for like a year or two, which, again, how weird is it that Metroid Samus Returns came out on three DS and not Switch. Yeah that is wild, realizarre stuff. So good, so good. But I think Nintendo is in the best place they've ever been because they have the success of the Wii, but in a console that is also serving the more core gamers with core games with things like Metroid Dread coming out and selling incredibly well. You know, like pretty much every Nintendo franchise sell better on Switch than it ever has before. You look at things like Fireing them, you look at things like Kirby and the Forgotten Land, which was incredible. I'm not a big Kirby guy at all. That game was phenomenal. Yeah, I'm I'm not a Kirby guy either. I had so much fun with that game. Yeah, and it high selling Kirby game like, the Switch is just such a behemoth when it comes to success that I feel like, despite the patterns that they've had in the past, this has to be the time they don't rock the boat, just put out the switch, to make the Switch to exactly what people expect it to be, which is just a better switch. And I think there's evidence towards that with the Nintendo Switch online accounts and all of that. This is the first generation that I truly believe We're not gonna have to rebuy virtual console games. We're not gonna have to reinvest in the NS and s and e s and all that stuff. That's just gonna carry over. Like, I truly believe that day one with the Switch, to which I do think is gonna be called switch To because I think they're going in this direction. We're gonna be able to We're gonna be able to play our switch online games because they're gonna keep that Switch ecosystem. I don't think agree switch name. I agree with that. I actually I have a different idea for the Switch's name, but I'll save that form my video. But I do think switch To is the most concise and the most straightforward, and would be fantastic if they did that. I just I'm hesitant to believe it because they've never numbered a console before. True can I I want to touch on a couple of things I just saw in chat. People had an issue with me saying you can get a four k TV cheaper than two hundred dollars. You literally can, Yeah, you can get you can get four KTVs a hundred bucks. People get real upset when I when I talk about, oh, like the standard is four KTVs, Like, no, we have ten. I'm saying, don't exist. It's definitely the standard. I do think it'd be harder to go and get a ten ADP TV at this point. It would be to go buddy at like best Buy. I mean, you had like a garage sale. Maybe maybe I'm wrong, but you can definitely get four K TVs for a couple hundred bucks. Would they be good? No, But that's just like the standard that we're at now. Someone else said and they and it's Wolfe in chat, and wolf is actually a big supporter, so I think they are actually trying to be helpful, but I think they also prove my point accidentally. They said the US population, forty four percent of people have four K TV, so it's less than half. Yeah, that is one hundred and fifty million people in the US have four K TVs. That's that's the that's the point you just made. And those people are more likely to be the gamers, like, that's it the big point. Yeah, the other the other one hundred and fifty probably don't play video games or have TVs or maybe maybe there's some cross over there, but I think more likely the target audience, you know. And and how many how many switches have sold at this point, like one hundred one hundred million, d million, Yeah, so that's that's another forty million people that could use four K. I don't know. I think I think all of that goes to prove my point. Yeah, maybe I'm with you, possibly, uh even like I feel like game monitors these days, I mean, maybe game monitors are a little bit more behind, but I feel like if you went to like a Fries or a Best Buy, you have a lot of time finding a ten EIGHTYP monitor than a full K monitor. I don't know if that's the case with maybe monitors range a bit more. I'm not running in the monitor. Game monitors just have different points of success, Like they push frame rate a lot more than monitors do. Monitors or TVs do, and TV's are starting to but again, tech pushes tech forward, like TVs have only started adopting HDMI two point one and variable refresh rate and all of that stuff because PS five's and Xbox Series x is do, Like you need the reason to push the tech forward, and Nintendo's always going to be behind because that's who Nintendo is. So that's a good thing in the sense that, like, I feel like it's easier to kind of predict what they're going to end up doing with the next system, but no matter what, they're going to be behind. But I feel like we're at a point that that matters less than it ever has. Like, yeah, yeah, I'm not. I'm not looking at the switch to I'm not looking at the Okarina of Time remake that I am convinced does exist. Like, I'm not worried about it not looking four K running four K sixty. No, man, no, it's not happening. I just don't nah nah, four K thirty sure, okay, Oh so you are willing to believe four K just not sixty. Oh no, that's my thing this or that, it's just not both. You don't think I mean there's no shot. Okay, there's no shot. I think I'm gonna say this right now. There's no shot. The next Maria cut isn't four K sixty. So I think you're crazy to say that. I think that there's a shot. And with the AI that does change things. But like even then, I just I struggle to believe the next a like a new console no matter who it is, could come out in twenty twenty five and be locked at ten ADP. I feel like, I mean, it wouldn't be locked. Well yeah, but then if you're saying that we could go up, I'd say two K four K to then say, okay, maya Cott eight was sixty frames, but we're going back to thirty like that just all the time. No, I feel like it's such a bad look. It's such a bad look, and I don't it's gonna just fuel the fire of like, oh, look, another another eight years of a console that you don't need to buy and I'm happy on my PlayStation, like Nintendo. Nintendo needs to prepare yourself, bro, prepare yourself. I I honestly think I love you. You're wrong. Yeah, look you using Mario Kart as the specific example. It's funny where I do think that if any first party Nintendo timeles is going to be potentially four K sixty, I do think Mario Kart would be a front runner. So what do you think of those rumors that the that the games come last year the Breath of the World was four K sixty. You think that was just lies, just just like a little fun. But that's that's a game from twenty seventeen, though, Like that's different, like where there will be games that can play it for Oh yeah, I agree. We found that middle point where I agree with you. It's not every game, I mean, no console, no, not even PC, Like you know, like no game is going to be like maxed out every time. Yeah. But so that's the thing is what they the tech demo or whatever they were playing was on a PC, Like it was an idea of what the switch to could be. And so it's like, yeah, like I've played Breath of the Wild in four cases. Yeah, I mean who I got dropped ambassador program for it. But like you know what I'm saying, It's like, yeah, yeah, again, that's and that can happen, but like that's that is an example of an old We're not going to get the next Elder coming out of four K sixty. No, I don't think that either. Yeah, I don't think that. It's like then that it doesn't then it's not real four K sixty Like that's like that is like a such a technically as it could do it, But that's not the marketing thing of the new games that you're The reason you're buying a switch to is not to play. That's a different conversation, but I do agree with you. The reason why you're buying a switch to is to play the next Maria, to play the next z Out and no matter how it looks, and those won't be four K sixty. I mean, Mario might have a fighting chance, you know, depending on how they building, they release Super Mario Sunshine on the switch in thirty frames per second game game? Yeah, all right? Calling me hopeful, Okay, I love the hope. I love the hope, and I'm hoping too. I would love nothing more than for that to happen. And I do think the AI has the best chance possible of making this a reality. But I also just think we've got to be realistic because what the amount of money Sony's putting into this name, So what's the all right? So I hate to keep going on about this, but then, to you in your mind, what's the jump up? Okay, let's say it's backwards compatible. We have all of these games. Let's take Breath of the Wild as a base example on the switch to what's the jump up? What's the reason to get it? All right? If right now it's it's variable refresh rate. We're probably getting about seven to twenty nine hundred P and we're getting thirty frames, what's the jump up to you to make it worth buying a switch to? So you're thinking locked ten ADP now and thirty frames, I mean yeah, that's like maybe ten sixty or maybe maybe it's four K, but it's it's four K thirty if we're lucky. I mean, I think, okay, all right, so you're thinking something similar to PlayStation Xbox how you have performance mode and quality mode where you might get this, you might get there full the full resolution and the thirty or the full frame rates or the sixty frame rates. I won't say four and then like a ten ADP. They can still they can still slap four K sixty on the box for that because it's technically it's doing both. Yeah. Yeah, no, and they will. They will, rest assured they will. I'm just trying to think it's disingenuous. Yeah no, I have the actual argument of saying I wouldn't even say that the PS five is four K sixty good. I agree. I agree with that Switch two is not going to be better than that. Like there's just no way. I agree. I agree, you're right, you are right. I'm excited, though, Like here's my I'm sold on the switch to no matter what, and I just want my game to I want my Nintendo games to play as well as they possibly can. So I just I'm not ever gonna expect them to be at the pinnacle of tech performance because that's not Nintendo's m O. So to me, I was already happy with the way Breath of the Wild played, and already happy with Tears the Kingdom, So any boost is going to be good for me. But what I want more than anything would is when I turned my switch on, I want the UI to not look fuzzy as hell. Yeah, but you know what my menu run in four K? Yeah. But you know what helps that, though, is the AIS that I was talking about. That's the whole point. And for anyone in chat, because we talked, I talk about AI a lot, but or the AI up scaling, but we haven't really DipEd into what that is in a long time. It doesn't really And correct me if I'm wrong here. The AI up scaling taking something from like ten eighty or like even two K and putting it in four K. It's not true four K, but it does clean up the image a lot, and it's not I believe it's not really taxing on the system at all because it's all artificial. It's not really adding any strain or stress, which is what it is. It's just not nearly as much. It's it's like super worth it. But I mean, a good example of this is like you can't use DLSS three, which is the latest in video tech on older in video cards, even if they're super beefy. You need there's certain tech required for the to be able to run the AI in certain memory. Like recently, in the last week or so, the PS five pro specs leaked. Yeah, I was going to ask you about that because that is supposed to about to do four K sixty. Well, but again goes back to exactly what we're talking about. I'm just like, cool, Yeah, it will, it'll help some games get there, but like, it will not be standard at all. But with the tech that they're talking about, there was a mentioning of they're allocating a bunch of memories so that the devs will be able to choose what they're focusing on, whether it's resolution or frame rate, and there's a bunch of standards PlayStations putting in place where in order to be called PS five pro enhanced, it has to hit certain metrics, like it can't be variable fresh rate, it has to be locked fresh rate, refresh rate or a locked resolution or whatever it is, and the devs are going to have to look at the memory that they are the extra memory they're getting from the PS five Pro and decide what AI tech is worth investing in for their game to make sure that whatever the vision they have for their game runs the best. But you can't have it all because even though the AI stuff is a lot less taxing than like doing natively, it is still a very taxing situation that you kind of we're not at a point yet that you can just have it all. Yeah, I know, I mean, we'll have to wait and see what the PlayStation pro can actually do. But yeah, I know, I know. I guess what I meant by all of it. It's been we we broke through it. The switch. We'll have four K sixty on every single game native. That's perfect. We did it. That's what success. Yeah, day one Metro prime for you know, we're gonna get a Pokemon MMO with every region in it from the from the jump. It's gonna be bad and that's gonna run. Yeah. Now I feel like you're making money. Now, I feel like you're lying. All right. The last thing I had to really go over today and I had a lot of fun with that conversation. Thank you. Oh yeah, man, Uh, the last thing to go over today if I can get my freaking mouse to work. But everyone's heard about it, we didn't really get the chance to touch on it last week. I just want to touch on it quickly and get your thoughts on it. Is the retro game emulators are now allowed in the iOS app store. This this article here says, but there are caveats. I don't know what the caveats this article means is because I haven't read this article specifically. But the one that I've been seeing a lot is apparently a lot of them are phishing a lot of information and data mining a lot from people using the using the apps. Yeah, I forget the one that was a couple of days ago. That was that. But this Delta one that everyone's talking about right now seems to be good. And I'll jumping up from everything I've seen. But I could be wrong about that obviously. All this is, you know, make sure you know what you're doing before you go do stuffespecially because there's a lot of illegal things you could be doing here allegedly. But yeah, I'm so excited about this. I know. The easy meme answer is, like, lol, iOS, people, We've been doing this forever on Android but it's like cool. The other way to look at it is, let's be excited that more people are going to be able to play old games how they want to play them anywhere they are, and I'm super cool this. This is actually kind of perfect for me because I've been an Android user my whole life essentially, and so I whenever I've needed to do anything for a video where I've needed to emulate anything, it's always been really easy for me because I've had an Android. But literally after my Japan trip last September, whenever it was, I came back and I was like, I need one of those iPhones my friends have because of the cameras. So I've had an iPhone now for a few months and now I can emulate again. Baby, It's no, It's okay, awesome. Yeah, it's really cool. I Like I said earlier, I love Nintendo and I love tech and I I I'm not a weirdo that has to pick a side between Android iOS. I am an iOS guy. It just happened to be. But mainly it's because I love the screen so much. Like I have the iPhone fifteen Promax or whatever the hell it's called, and I can't wait to play some the ten games on this thing. It's going to be beautiful. That's cool. I hadn't done this yet, but my wife she has that Motorola flip that's like two halves and you flip it in half, and I was thinking about that with all the emulator stuff recently. I'm like, yeah, you could have like the top half could be the game screen, the bottom half could be like the little you can make a little game boy out of that guy. Yeah, I mean that's awesome. I just love that we're in an era that there are unlimited ways to play old games and have them look amazing, Like whether you want to shell out for something like the analog pocket, which I absolutely love. There's the Steam Deck obviously, which is so damn cool, Switch itself, PCs, everything in between. But now it's just like, oh yeah, no matter what phone you have, you can have a great experience. And we're at a point now that just because of how big phones have gotten, the shape of phones, it's not like how it used to be where digital buttons are the worst things in the world. Now they're just not the best things in the world. Yeah, have you have you emulated anything yet? Have you got anything running on the iPhone, not yet, not yet, but I think I might with that this weekend, just to see what's going on. Because I actually just got my Steam Deck not too long ago, so I'm still kind of in the honeymoon phase of that. I can't talk about some of the things I'm playing on at some embargo information, you know what I can tell you I'm playing maybe not on the Steam Deck, I'll play it well, I will, yeah, follow new Vegans. But what I've been playing on my Switch that I do want to give a major shout out to is anton Blast, which yeah shown shown in the indie world. That was another game that we had the dev come through to our studio last month to show it off. It is a pleasure, and I would everyone listening to go download the demo on the Switch right now and give it a shot. It is such an amazing love letter to the Warrior Land games, to the Crash Bandicoot games, to just stylish nineties action games, and it is such a good time. Like the music's so fun, the vibes and visuals are off the charts, and there's just like a creativity to it that I'm like, really really into. So if you've ever enjoyed like Super Nintendo era Genesis era platformers, this really feels like a modern version of it. So I would highly recommend given it a shot. Yeah. When I went to PACs recently, they had that game on display. It had like a big booth and I took video of it, and then I put it into my Upcoming Games video recently and did a bigger dive on it once I got home. And initially it appealed to me because it looked like Pizza Tower, which obviously recently got really popular. But the more I looked into it, the more I was like, man, this is like a fully fleshed out ninety Super Nintendo romp. People are saying it's like the war the old Warrior Land games, but to me, and I can definitely see that, But to me, it's just it's like every fun platformer I played in the nineties on Super Nintendo when that era just kind of smashed into one. It's so cool. I love the way you can like play in the foreground, you can play in the background, you switch between the freeze. Yeah, yeah, it's so cool, and it animated really beautiful, and I was so cool that I got to see that and then to make a video about that, and then literally the indie direct back it. It got revealed and has a demo on Switch. Now. Actually I am now realized release date. When's the release date? November something, so a little far out, but I'm so so excited for. And one thing I want to mention about the gameplay of is I think is really cool is Yes, it's very inspired by a lot of two D platformers that we've loved in the past. But a mechanic that I've never seen in a game in a two D platform like this is Have you ever played Crash Team Racing? Yeah? Yeah, I played it on the Switch when I came to Switch there. So the boost mechanic is kind of similar to how it is in Mario Kart, where it's like, you know, you you drift and then it like goes through the different charge things. But in Crash specifically, there's like two levels and instead of like going back and forth on the drift like Mario Kart, you just kind of like ride it out and hit boost at the right time. They have that mechanic for your character Anton as he's running like his like boost Warrio style charge, he like you boost through. There's like a literal like boost charge wow to like go faster, and it's so satisfying and like, I've never played anything like it, so it's really really cool. Yeah. I was watching my friend Scootish play it on Twitch last night or yesterday morning, and yeah, I saw him doing that. He was like boosting and boasting and boasting and boasting and did look really fun. Yeah. I don't know how much more time you have, but I'm now realizing we didn't go through the indie world at all. Oh, let's do it. Let's just we could do it quickly and just take a look at some of these games, because I mean this was yesterday and a lot of people might have already gone through this. But the first one was, uh, oh my god, oh my god, let me pause this first one. Here is The Little Kitty Big City, which so excited for this one. I mean the game, I mean, the title really speaks for itself. You play as a little kitty in a big city. This was It's so much I mean, yeah, this was probably my highlight of the whole thing, just because I love kats. Oh yeah, I feel like this is definitely for the cat lovers. I'm a Pomeranian guy myself, but I feel like you can translate that so easily if you're just a little guy running around the city causing mischief, running a muck, messing things up. It's just it's just awesome. It's a lot of fun. It's uh. I wouldn't necessarily put this in like the cozy category. It's a bit just more like a tamer Goat simulator, you know. Oh yeah, yeah, I get that, all like a Goose game maybe. Yeah, yeah, you know, it's like if this is a weird thing to say, but it's kind of like if Goose Game and the Hub world like Peach's Castle from Mario sixty four had a baby. Yeah, I get that. Sorry, I'm trying to figure out how to mute this damn page and I can't. Uh yeah, I get that. To me, Yeah, it screams like Goose game. It's just like goofy, goofy fun. And I think I think more. I mean, I know it's an indie I mean the indie devs are always doing the goofy fun games. But I need more of this. Yeah, man. Random commentary of the chat says titled cat game that would have been another great name for this titled cat game. Oh right, un titled title cat game. Yeah, that would have been great. It might have been like copyright infringements there, you know. But this one's called uh wait, what is this swim called Yars Rising? Yaws Rising? Yeah, so this is a spin on the old Yards revenge games from the Atari, but this is from Way Forward, who obviously have made a ton of amazing games like games. Mm hmm switching Otherwise, uh, metro Venia style game looks pretty cool. I've never played Yars myself, but I yeah, I also have good stuff. Then this one refines self. I love the art style and the colors of this one is very game boy chic. Mm hmmm. That kind of gives a little bit of like earth Bound, Not earth Bound Bound means Zelda too. Yeah, actually vibes there. Going through the towns twenty three personality types to discover in the timed Nintendo Switch exclusive. Okay, that's cool. That's coming in summer. Sticky Business all right, this one looks sticky. Something that can business. Sticky Business is a game that our Snowbike mc over on our team got obsessed with when it was on on Steam. Oh my God, there was like a week where every day he just he started his little sticker business and he was streaming and he was just obsessed with it. So, yeah, cool, it's coming to Switch. It's already out. It came out yesterday, so you can oh, wow, well, so what do you do? You've started sticker business and then you have to design stickers and figure out ways to sell them, and it's just like it's just a fun little like that was so cute. That's like, that's what my wife does on Edsy, she'd probably love I love it. Yeah, there's Anton Blast we talked about. We can show some gameplay here breathing. It's so good, y'all. And again the demos available now, Like if this isn't the type of game that you a switch ol ed you need to play at handheld just to see those colors pop man thing of beauty. Yeah, I love it. The animation is so good. Does that run Dash you were talking about? Yeah, have you seen that game? That's like uh uh two D M three D. At the same time, off topic, yeah, you play like a game boy and then like everything you do in the game Boy games happening in the real world too. I'm a little concerned it's going to get a motion sickness inducing, but I love that idea. I mean, I remember when I first saw the trailer for Super Paper Mario on the Wii uh, and that was kind of the gimmick of that game where it's like you could switch from two D to TV and I always thought it was so cool to like because like one of the early levels was a remake of World one one from the original Mario, and I was always like, oh wow, what a cool idea to be able to see what those platforms would look like in a three D space. And I thought that game was fine, it never really like lived up to my expectations. But with this one, I love that the entire conceit of the game is look how the game would look at both two D and three D at the exact same time. So pretty sweet, so so just cool that like on the two D plane, And I'm not showing gameplay this, I apologize. I think we showed it a couple of weeks back. The two D plane you only see that one dimension and you might get stuck in the game, and that's when you have to look around in the three D world to see more like in front of you and behind you as to like where you can go next before continuing in the two D. It's just such a cool idea. Yeah, this one's called Valley Peaks, which looks like a rock climbing style game. Looks not like kind of VR friendly honestly, but yeah, that one. I don't know too much about this one. Europa, which I was watching my friend's scoot also play this one. The demo of this one is out now, very breath of the wild chic but like low key the demo seeing fun Studio, Ghibli inspy yea and they're like, or Ghibli. I thought it was Bli, but I always say I would say Ghiebli. I'm probably wrong because I pronounce everything wrong. How do you say labor, labor, labor, Nintendo labor? Oh labo, Yeah, labor. I love it. That's awesome. How do you how do you say Sega Mega Drive or Siga Genesis? Yeah, definitely Sega. How do you get that wrong? Every time you turn on the game, they tell you how to say sea. Yeah, that game looks cute. Uh, low Ali and the laser eyes just skimming through ladies here and that it's fun to say, what kind of have you seen this one? Yeah? Yeah, I don't know too much about it, but this is just it's an Ana Purna game, which means you know you're gonna get fun little puzzles and like a cool opshoot type story. Oh, T, M and T splintered fade of course, Yeah, this one's cool. So this is a Hades like game, but it's up to four players. It came out on Apple Arcade and is now coming as a console exclusive to Switch in July. The fun thing is like Apple Arcade actually has a lot of hidden gems on it, but most of us don't like playing games on mobile because we have stigmas against it, and this is a great example of a game that probably wouldn't exist if it didn't have the funding of an Apple Arcade. Sonic just put out an amazing three D platformer on the on Apple Arcade as well that no one's gonna play because it being stuck there. This Turtles game, it's cool, Like, I feel like it's definitely not nearly as good as Hades anywhere close, but yeah it's funny. It's funny you're saying Hades like. So obviously this got made inspired by Hades. Yeah, I love how I love how good Hades is and how influential it is. It's it's already become a game that other games are called Hades like when totally I mean, I mean, Haites really like just perfected the roguelike genre, I feel like, but it's not like by any means. They were the first to do something like that. But now it's just Hades, like, you know, you have dark souls like Metroidvania like Hades like. I love that so much, especially from an indie game. So good. I know. My friend Kevin Kenson, who I love dearly another Nintendo not really just Nintendo, another YouTuber. Yeah, he got into the freaking beta for He's been playing in on Steam Deck like now, and I'm so jealous. I didn't even know you could apply for that. Yeah. I think I'm getting my code later today. Get me one. When you say when you say code, you mean for the beta. Yeah, the technical test please please? Yeah? Let me see what is that embargoed? Can you stream it? Or is it completely I'll get dot com slash kind of funny games. I need it, cat Quest three. They I don't know, man, I think they seem to be pumping these catquost games out. I swear there's one every year, but that does look cute. I played the first one a while back, a game called Stitch, which is non surprisingly a game where you stitch that also looks like something that Kim would like. I did hear that this was very cozy game focused, for sure. I mean they that that's such a vibe in such a genre, and like its booming genre. There's a lot of YouTubers and content creators that are getting popular now just off the back of cozy games and that's like their whole strap shirt chic. And then yeah, the before mentioned Steamweall Dig Heist two. I don't. I think I might have played Steamwold heighst No, Steamwall Dig Heist, Steamwoid Heist. I think I might have played the first steam Ode Heist, because I kind of remember that gameplay of sort of like x Com style, I guess, in a way slightly RTS style. Yeah, but I don't I really remember it, so I think I just like dabbled in it. I've played other games in the Steam World series. They have a bunch of different genres. If you're confused by the Steam World series, it's because they have Steam Wolde High, Steamwoad Dig, Steam World Quest. I think Quest is the cod game one, and they're all different, different genres of video games based in the Steam World universe. And this is like a kind of like an arts style one. Like you said, yeah and yeah, that was that was the indie world, I mean to be honest. There was a couple more things too, actually more release dates. So we got another Crab Treasure from in April twenty fifth, which is awesome. If you are interested in Soul's likes at all, give this one a shot. Yeah, very super cool. The team is incredible and I'm very excited for them to get this game out. And then Animal nine, that's one to keep your eyes on. Like this is it's a metric venia that is utterly gorgeous. We've seen retro style games forever. Now to see one that's doing something different is really refreshed. I played that at Packs last year and actually got to talk to Donkey while I was playing it. It's really funny. It's cool. Yeah, it's a metroc viner without combat, so it's a lot more just kind of like platform puzzle based. And I played the demo a couple of times now at different events, and it's really really cool. Definitely keep your eyes on that one. And then DUC Detective Shim and bizzd that just for some reason, they're right down here. They're probably in like a sizzle reel or something. Yeah, I think those were just like, hey, release dates. You've seen these games a billion times, but there's just some more info and then I'll add I'll add one to this. They recently announced and this is an indie, but they announced that the one Piece Odyssey Games coming to Switch. Did you hear about that? No? I didn't. Yeah, that's kind of for the piece. Actually I never played it, but it kind of gives me vibes of like Dragon Ball, Cake Rock, where you like, I think you play through the game and it's like open World. I'll play through the series at open World and that's coming in July. So something else, something on the Switch, something else to add to the library. I mean I did. I did have a list of games that I'll come into the Switch, but I want to look at them real quickly. Actually, I'll just read them out. Grounded just launched on the Switch, which is awesome. Man, Grounded not a game for me, but like, the people making that game truly love what they're doing, and there's a community there for the game, and it's finally out of early access, and I feel like it's an example of early access really paying off for for devs to be able to like get the feedback from the community to see what this kid's essentially a tonny I shrunk the kids the game, So a lot of fun to be had there. Yeah. I played when it first a day it launched actually in early access forever ago, and it felt a little bad bones but fun. Then I was like, I'm gonna wait for this to fully release, so now's my time. They actually gave me a code for it, and I want to stream it with some friends. I don't know how to pronounce this, but you you you den chronicle. It's like a chronicle. There you go. It's like classic JPG. It's like a new game, but it's made in the style of classic JPGs. Like sweak it in. We talked about Crabs, Treasure, Endless Ocean Comes. You missed it here you missed one. April twenty third, Tales of Canzera Zoo. Everyone keep your eyes on this one. This was the game that was announced last year at Summer Game Fest, when the games director Abou came out and told the story about losing his father. Do you remember this, Yeah, it's a Metroidvania type game. Prince of Perschel Is the Lost Crown is my game of the year so far this year. I absolutely loved it, and this seems very similar to that, so I'm excited for a lot more. It is a very personal story. The game looks awesome. It's coming out everywhere, so definitely keep your eyes on this one. Yeah. I remember seeing that game and being like, man, this is very similar to that other game. So like I was like, I don't know if if I'm ready to play another one like that. But then he told the story about his dad and I was like, I'm ready. I'll check that one out for you. Yeah. We talked about another Crabs Treasure Saga. Emerald Beyond is coming out. Endless Ocean. Don't forget about that one, the thirty player Endless Ocean sequel. On May second animal, Well, we talked about remember Bio Mutant. Yeah, yeah, that game that was announced it games Calm many years ago that I to switch. I played that on Xbox. I've got to be honest, I did not like it at all. Seems to be the tone of that. Yeah, but I mean I don't know. Maybe no, I don't know. It's not good, but it's coming to switch May twenty third. We're getting the thousand year door go very well, one of the best, I would say, debatably, but probably the best. Mario, No, it's the best one. What's the debate? The original? The original, which I loved, especially with the remake, I loved it so much. But man, Paper Mario thousand your Door, the original was so good. The way the new one looks. I am blown away. Man, this is we are so lucky that this is the last year of the switch, Like, are we getting this much great stuff? Like I know that it feels barren as again a lifelong Nintendo fan that is used to other last years of Nintendo life cycles being the worst thing every You're get wrong, Paper Mario thousand your door that looks this good? I am stoked, man, You're not wrong at all. Actually very excited for that too. I'll probably stream that one when it comes out. World of Goo two on May twenty third, July fourteenth months to hunt of stories like the first one, that was only on three DS, and we have the sequel on Switch. Now we're getting that one shim Mcgummy Tensi five Vengeance, which is like the Persona five Royal to Persona five for shim mcgummy Tensi twenty fifth is the New Monkey Bull Game. And then June twenty seven is Luigi's Mansion two. HD. Are you excited for that? Not at all? Not me neither. I love Luigi's Mansion. Uh, but Luigi's Mansion two was fun on the three DS with the many different little mini mansions like cool idea. Luigi's Mansion three I just thought was so good that I'm not really excited about going back to two, even if it looks a little bit better like the mechanics they added with Guigi and three and all that, I'm just like, I want new Luigi's Mansion. This this feels like the Nintendo end of life cycle drought that I'm used to. Yeah, I agree, I'm that's I don't know, man, like, do we have the We don't have the first Luigi's Mansion on do we on Switch? We do? Yeah? In what? In what? In what form? It's not physical? Let me see, am I having a Mandela moment right now, because I was gonna say we sure we have both in the and I was like, wait, do we have both? It was remade for the three DS, so not the switch. Let me just match. Why remade for the three DS after the switch had come out? Yes, just like Samus returns. That's so weird that, Like, uh, I was gonna say that. I mean, they're obviously just doing the second one, so we have all three games on the switch, but then like, no, we don't really, so why the second one do the first? Well? I think the reason is that games are lost on the three DS. That's true, you know, like GameCube the well to an extent. But the thing is, if it's not Nintendo porting these games from three DS and making them work somehow without the touch screen or not the touch screen or whatever it is on the switch, like they're gonna be lost forever. Was Luigi's mantioned, one could just be simply ported. Yeah, I see what you mean. Yeah, I guess they have to be remade outside of them unless you buy that a and neo flip thing that has the two screens and the emulated on that that thing looks awesome, man, all right, I've stolen enough of your time. We've been going for like an hour and a half now. But this was fun. This was a good conversation. Man. Thank you, yeah, of course, man, thank you so much for having me. I love this stuff. Yeah. We actually we we got so stuck into it immediately. We didn't even talk about the fact that initially, I don't even mentioned why I'm remotely for the second time in the in the last two months. So I'll quickly say at the end here, Initially the plan was, should I say, the full plan, yeah, go for it. Okay. Initially the plan was for you and Greg Miller to be in studio live in a Brooklyn studio this week, And sadly a few days ago Greg ended up getting very sick, and like we had we had flight book books, we were all excited. Yeah, Greg got sick and wasn't sure if he could make it. So you and I really were like, let's just make the decision now, we'll do it. Well, pull it off, because we didn't want to push him. We didn't want to like make him get on a plane if he felt sick. And then like a couple of days ago, after we canceled I was like, well, we could still do it. We could still do it. I mean I'm gonna I mean at that point, I'm not going to drive into the studio anyway if no one else is coming. So and and my producer E he works for Guy Fieri. Uh, and he is currently in California working for Guy Fierti. So I was like, if he's not going to be there, and I'm not going to have a guest there, I'm not going to drive all the way there. We'll just do it remotely. And you happily jumped on here with me and and shut the shut the crap for an hour. It was a blast. I definitely want to make my way out there though, to the studio because it looks beautiful. Yeah, I have you at our studio because it's ape as hell, and I just want to make more stuff with you man. Yeah, and to be fair to go for further back. The original plan was for me to come to you guys. I was supposed to be in California today, uh, doing your show. But uh, we'll make it all happen. I bailed on that because I have so much going on. I didn't want to do a big flight. But yeah, well, we're going to figure all of that out. We're going to do in person episodes. At some point, I want to shake your hand, I want to give you a hug, I want to meet you. Love it, So let's do it all right until then, thank you so much for doing the show. I appreciate it. Thank you, thank you for watching and listen. I really appreciate you. Guys. If you want to, if you want to be hold on, how do I do this? Can I do this? Or it's not working. I have a little Patreon scroll that I like to show, but it's not working, so you have to pretend your names are down there. I'm sorry if you want to come watch the bonus episode. I don't know if Tim's going to have time now because we've gone overtime quite a bit. I should I think I'll be okay, Oh okay, Well, then Tim and I are going to do a bonus episode for the Patreons. Please come support the show, Come support the Patreon. It's really what keeps it going. So there'll be links down below for all of that. We didn't have a sponsor today either, so please consider supporting the show. And I don't know what we're going to talk about in the bonus episode. But we'll figure it out, and I'm excited to find out what that is. If you've been listening or watching, remember to like, comment, subscribe. All that good stuff rates five stars, all all of the things that help the show. But more than anything, there are links down below to both Tim's Twitter as well as kind of funny games they have the I mean, as far as larger podcasts that are still independently owned and have that sort of feeling of just like a few guys doing a podcast that are still high quality, high production, I really feel like you guys are nailing and crushing that. And yeah, I can't wait. I can't wait to come by and be a part of that too and experience your set and experience everything that you guys have going on. And it almost feels like it almost feels moot to shout you guys out, even though like it's not. But because as far as my audience, no, no, no, it's like that's the reality is we kind of funny seem so much bigger than we actually are, Like we are so so so small. We just have a fancy set and do cool stuff, but that's all just like big decisions that we made it to invest in that because we believe in it. We're eleven people just talking about things that we love. I'm one guy with you know so, but you got to you gott all it like it's the one guy gets stretched into into multiple at a certain one. I know that eleven is a lot compared to one, but uh, I mean I'm a very little compared to the three hundred that an IGN has. I understand that, but yeah, I mean, yes, you guys, I mean I also need to help, so I do get that. But what I'm trying to say is your production quality, the quality of your content and just what you have going on is so grandiose and so quality while still feeling homegrown. And it's such a good time. And if you enjoy listening to this podcast, even right now when and it's such a mess and trying to find its home and it's footing, and by the way, if you are one of my people that watch every week with all of that going on, thank you so much. You will definitely enjoy the structured and in a flow podcast that is kind of funny. And the reason why I was saying it's moot, by the way, is because when I said to people, hey, I want to do a show with guests, you were like top five, like kind of funny games in general, Tim, Greg, you guys were top five. They wanted you guys on. They were very excited to have you guys on. And yeah, it's so cool to get it to happen now, in this form and and in person in the future. I love it. Man. We love talking about video games, and I love specifically Tom on Nintendo. So hey, let's go, let's go. All right, guys, that's it, and I'll see you all in the bonus episode. Well not all of you, but some of you. Love you all, and I'll see all of you next week. Goodbye,
