Episode 87 - The Imperial Fists pt 1 - The Rise of the 7th legion.

[SPEAKER_01]: So with that, let's get into the seventh legion.
[SPEAKER_01]: As with all the legions, the emperor created the seventh legion share a common lineage with its recruits sort of.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's interesting.
[SPEAKER_01]: I would actually argue that seventh legion end up being the most unique amongst all the legions in the recruitment because they don't actually use a region.
[SPEAKER_01]: They just use an archetype.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, can actually.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because like the seventh.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: You don't want to give him a pair of fists.
[SPEAKER_00]: I know that I poop on him, but if everything went down and you only could have one legion, if you're not choosing the ultra means, you're choosing the imperial fist because they have all the people that know how to do stuff.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is basically all of the union guys that are electricians, flowers, everything else.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, they are these guys.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're hands down.
[SPEAKER_01]: The ultramarines are the best religion at running stuff.
[SPEAKER_01]: The fist of the best religion is getting shit done.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's guys who are specialized in different things, but the fist just in general gets stuff done.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about them a little bit.
[SPEAKER_01]: The seventh religion drew their recruits originally from all of Terra.
[SPEAKER_01]: It didn't matter, you know, you're background.
[SPEAKER_01]: criminal, you were a noble, you were a worker, where you're from mountains, arid waste cities, anything.
[SPEAKER_01]: The seventh legion would still recruit from you because they weren't looking for an individual, looking for a type.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so they had to actually siphoning off some of the recruiting of other legions.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this is because the only thing that seventh legion wanted is someone who is who fit a couple of different pieces.
[SPEAKER_01]: They had to be tough beyond all measure.
[SPEAKER_01]: Just they were literally grabbing the toughest guy people that they could find.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they also need to be kind of a stalwart is that they describe it.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the kind of people who don't speak very much, but their actions show it.
[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think we always go away.
[SPEAKER_01]: Brad is like the Imperial Fists.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, what's the, like the level that you are a space wolf is so excessive here?
[SPEAKER_00]: Where it's like, why would I do anything if I don't get to talk about it?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm silly.
[SPEAKER_01]: I want to have, I want instant gratification for my successes.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then I want to live the glory of those successes by telling you both of the successes every chance I get to talk.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, a hundred percent.
[SPEAKER_01]: You're a space wolf, which is fine.
[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of people want to be space wolves.
[SPEAKER_01]: But the imperial fist, I think, I, they're kind of like the dowel or like, I just get shit done, group.
[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, fun story though, actually, do what we're just discussing.
[SPEAKER_01]: Lehman Russ was not a fan of the imperial fist.
[SPEAKER_00]: New.
[SPEAKER_01]: He thought they were lame.
[SPEAKER_01]: I've been just to note though, the act of becoming a member of the seventh legion.
[SPEAKER_01]: was really no different from other religions.
[SPEAKER_01]: Implantation of the gene seed, although it does say that the gene seed was more painful.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that.
[SPEAKER_00]: I want to go on this.
[SPEAKER_00]: One of the things is they have stories about this.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't know why they added this.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're just trying to really imprint the fact that these are very durable individuals they were supposed to.
[SPEAKER_00]: These are almost like, if they're anything, they're fantasy dwarves, you know, they're just, yeah, just.
[SPEAKER_01]: Rumpy.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they make things about this for whatever reason.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it makes no real sense.
[SPEAKER_00]: I just think that they're trying to say that they aren't tough.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because for whatever they're saying, hey, our gene seed is just causes pain.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're like, why?
[SPEAKER_00]: We just don't give anybody any drugs.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're like, why?
[SPEAKER_01]: Just want to see if they're tough.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, and it's also funny because they talk about like it's the most painful process that gene seeds.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, but world leaders shove the butcher's nails and people's skulls.
[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like that one's probably hurts more.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that's part of the process.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not supposed to be part of it.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's right.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the emperor did tell him to stop doing it and ground promptly went, no.
[SPEAKER_00]: He had believed that I turned to chaos.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it really is weird that the role leaders became a chaos faction.
[SPEAKER_01]: Who could see this coming?
[SPEAKER_01]: One more thing on the GNC that's important is the imperial fists do not have the GNC for spitting acid or the one that like put you suspended animation.
[SPEAKER_01]: No one else has worked, but they actually don't even have it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because Roguel Dorn probably was like, why would I put something and then it doesn't work?
[SPEAKER_01]: That actually would, he would pipe you there as a flaw, as a structural flaw.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, nope, I'm not doing that one anymore.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he's the only one to figure it out.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, but, well done.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, let's talk about where the seventh legion really did stand out though.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's where conquest, which or crusading, is really what they are.
[SPEAKER_01]: All of the emperor's legions were used to conquer and destroy an opponent.
[SPEAKER_01]: They all come in hard, they come in fast, and they overwhelm.
[SPEAKER_01]: And from there they would kind of move quickly to reach like the goal is always to reach the leadership and cut the head off the snake.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's how most of the legions functioned.
[SPEAKER_01]: The problem is that only works when you're fighting someone who's, you have superiority too.
[SPEAKER_01]: What happens when you actually hit someone that you can't just use overwhelming force for, where you have to grind them out.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's the seventh legion.
[SPEAKER_00]: Different.
[SPEAKER_00]: They would dig in.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, different than like Descartes also would grind you out, but it was grind you out actually in battle.
[SPEAKER_01]: These guys.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, he dug in.
[SPEAKER_00]: He went,
[SPEAKER_00]: They were doing World War I. Let's just trench warfare there.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that more time is kind of that.
[SPEAKER_00]: But he would build fortifications.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's one of the reasons that the aparel fisted and put up huge numbers because of the fact that when you needed a Heavenly fortified army, if you weren't sent it in, the iron ore is a pretty robber, just because he was a siege master, and you wanted to grind somebody out.
[SPEAKER_00]: The Imperial Fists were fortification masters.
[SPEAKER_00]: They would put up their own things and basically in a march their way in by having superior fortifications then yours were on your own place.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I want to talk about these little bits.
[SPEAKER_01]: I actually, I think this is a really great thing with assemblies and that's really different.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it's something that, to me, is a bit more in the realm of reality.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, for example, the presence of a massive military force using shock and autactics,
[SPEAKER_01]: That'll pacify people for a little bit.
[SPEAKER_01]: But the problem is that what happens when that force leaves?
[SPEAKER_00]: This is a huge problem in the crusades for a while because
[SPEAKER_00]: The Marines a lot of times would leave too quickly and they would just expect, well, which is now the Imperial Guard, to just take care of this and they would be on their way.
[SPEAKER_00]: Dorn, I have to admit, the Imperial Fest is a whole where fantastic at trying to make sure this is an Imperial planet forever.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and so what they would do is when the seventh legion was deployed, in battle, the first thing they were going to do is once they gained good ground, they'd build emplacements.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's allowed their forces to be even more powerful, because now they've got more powerful weapons coming in.
[SPEAKER_01]: Then they put, they start putting up fortresses on these hostile worlds to help improve the efficacy of local garrisons, because what Brad was just saying, that's one of the biggest problems is the space marines would leave, and the local population were like, yeah, we surrendered to the super humans,
[SPEAKER_01]: You're just some guy named Ted.
[SPEAKER_01]: I can kill Ted.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Watch this.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: And however, if Ted's sitting on the top of a giant wall with a cannon, he's like, well, go away.
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, fine Ted, we will pay our time.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so this becomes a really key thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so in my mind, this was
[SPEAKER_01]: why the seventh legion becomes effectively the emperor's favorite as part of the conquest.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's because they, all the worlds that they go to, tend to stay held versus the space wolves who are going to go in there, you know, busy, yeah, I killed the king.
[SPEAKER_01]: We all left and then like a month later that rebelled again.
[SPEAKER_01]: They were like, oh, were we supposed to actually fortify and build something there?
[SPEAKER_00]: Why are you going to bring up old chance?
[SPEAKER_01]: We're already on the other side of the galaxy.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm out guys.
[SPEAKER_00]: Again, this is a big deal, though, because the imperial fist don't get huge recognition on the third, what they're doing, because they're not putting up big numbers, because it does take time to do all the things they're doing.
[SPEAKER_00]: However, their worlds become legit, you know what I mean?
[SPEAKER_00]: They have fortified worlds.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's also a big deal, like a lot of these worlds are things that
[SPEAKER_00]: They just left the loan.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is a big deal when we go to the horror.
[SPEAKER_00]: Seriously, they looked a lot of the imperial fist worlds alone because they were just too annoying.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: I know people who attacked Imperial fist worlds was petarabbo who was just trying to prove a point.
[SPEAKER_01]: Everyone else is ever else.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, we're just going to take heavy losses.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's a really good example I want to tell about the imperial fists for two reasons.
[SPEAKER_01]: One, it really shows kind of a stoic and deliberate nature that the seventh legion did it work with.
[SPEAKER_01]: And two, it all happened on Uranus and I'm a man child and I cannot resist the ability to just say the word Uranus over and over.
[SPEAKER_00]: Every time we've had any story that goes into the soul system, we go back to Uranus.
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[SPEAKER_01]: So let's enjoy this.
[SPEAKER_01]: So Uranus actually did pretty well during the age of strife during the Golden Age of Technology.
[SPEAKER_01]: Man kind of built up and fortified Uranus really well.
[SPEAKER_01]: They've got, you know, yes, it's a galaxy.
[SPEAKER_00]: Did this?
[SPEAKER_00]: No, I know.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a gas giant.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know.
[SPEAKER_01]: But there is, but it does have, it has satellites orbiting.
[SPEAKER_01]: Uranus.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is just going to happen.
[SPEAKER_01]: Guys, I'm sorry.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you don't find this joke, the jokes funny we're doing this.
[SPEAKER_01]: During the age of strife, though Uranus came under attack, like all planets by a combination of mutants, psychers, pirates, some other random thing, whatever the GW felt like writing in nineteen ninety two.
[SPEAKER_01]: But well before the unification works included on earth, the people of Uranus actually got to kind of stabilize.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the emperor comes out, goes to Mars, and just goes planet by planet, when the emperor gets to Uranus, they're actually happy to see him.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's a, it's a local population called the azureites for Azor, because it was bluish.
[SPEAKER_01]: And at first, all things put the azureites go, well, they accept the imperial truth, they give over citizens, technology, et cetera.
[SPEAKER_01]: The problem is that Uranus was very valuable within the sole system to like really don't kind of almost anybody.
[SPEAKER_01]: You can't take Mars, you can't take Earth, you want to go take Uranus.
[SPEAKER_01]: Namely, space pirates who just could not resist the booty available on Uranus.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the pirates attack and distress call goes up to the Imperium.
[SPEAKER_01]: And to combat the pirate that threat, the Emperor just sends a seventh legion to refortify and repel the invaders at Uranus.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the fists entered Uranus with force and drove the pirate fleet right out.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then they landed on the main station and then just go door to door killing pirates.
[SPEAKER_00]: I love everything about this.
[SPEAKER_00]: Also quick shout out and prep.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you can find a old copy of Space Hulk.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Fantastic game.
[SPEAKER_00]: And well, this is what it for when I first thought of this when I was reading it.
[SPEAKER_00]: I thought space-hold because that is the kind of boarding hand-to-hand door-to-door action that we're getting here.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so this battle is awesome because the seventh legion is ripping through it and the pirates go to flee.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the reason the story is cool is it exposes something about the dark-age of technology.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's really interesting.
[SPEAKER_01]: So as the pirates flee, one of the ships turns around and fires three torpedoes at the station.
[SPEAKER_01]: Two of them get blown up, but a third one does penetrate and gets into the station.
[SPEAKER_01]: Once it penetrates, it's not a warhead.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like it pops out and a human jumps out of it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think of this, if you guys have seen secret level, the way that the psycher, the human just speaks one word and the word is silence.
[SPEAKER_01]: The thing is this human has no eyes, no fingers, no ears, and no tongue.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is not, this is a siker.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is actually a siker weapon.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it was a curse from the age of strife.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was, I think they called the maddening curse.
[SPEAKER_01]: It had some special name.
[SPEAKER_01]: And when it does is anyone who hears it, hears this word, the spell of silence, they turned to a size on B.
[SPEAKER_01]: for lack of evidence.
[SPEAKER_00]: We didn't have to be there though, the thing is that this could work over coms.
[SPEAKER_00]: So as long as it was broadcast anywhere, this is going down.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so there's no one better to handle a situation the seventh legion.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the seventh legion, know what it is, they immediately cut all coms to the station and they actually cut all their own things.
[SPEAKER_01]: They go to work now in pure silence.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they go through this entire station.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so remember, this word has been uttered.
[SPEAKER_01]: So every being inside the station who hasn't, you know, effectively muted themselves and deafened themselves, it's spreading.
[SPEAKER_01]: So this, the fists have to fight through a station full of size zombies.
[SPEAKER_01]: If someone in this station gets to the master box and speaks it out, you can actually take out the fleet.
[SPEAKER_01]: So what do they do?
[SPEAKER_01]: They go on a slaughter mission through it, fight their way to the core of the station and overload it and basically blowing the station up.
[SPEAKER_01]: Sacrifice themselves without even a second thought.
[SPEAKER_01]: And thereby, the seventh legion saved Uranus.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, whatever.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[SPEAKER_01]: So that's enough Uranus jokes.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about a person who is zero percent enjoy those jokes because he's the ultimate kill joy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Roguel Dorf.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Roguel.
[SPEAKER_01]: I like to, I'm like, right, I actually like Roguel, but I do admit.
[SPEAKER_01]: Roguel is, if you take all the primarks and lists from highest to least likely to attend a comedy show, Roguel's the bottom.
[SPEAKER_00]: One of his monocurs is the end of fun.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's him and the lion at the bottom.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't understand laughter.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's basically, you know.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is, but basically, here I see.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: Angron would want to go, but no one wants him there because it's just like, dude, I don't know.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, no.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, man, we first, we accidentally gave you the wrong day.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was yesterday.
[SPEAKER_01]: Next time.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, Rogodor, like all the primarx, Rogodis appears from his gestation tube and his warp is some random planet.
[SPEAKER_01]: and like all the primarics, separate Gilliman and Khan, the planet sucks.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not Kemos or Nusaria sucks, but it still sucks.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn lands on an ice world called Inuit, which is probably, I think, closest to Fenrus in that, like the way they describe it's a little bit annoying.
[SPEAKER_01]: They describe it as the people of Inuit are super tough, and they're almost nomadic, and they're fighting each other for resources.
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's basically Fenrus, except doesn't have deer on it.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's horrifying.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there's super dangerous deer on Fenrus.
[SPEAKER_00]: Again, murder deer.
[SPEAKER_01]: And if you guys don't want to talk about go back and listen to our Space Bulls cast because they did refer to the great danger of Fenrus being the north where they had ice trolls and like frozen beasts and yeah Drake's yeah and they list one of them as deer just calling it out deer murder deer murder deer
[SPEAKER_01]: So the planet in which is described as a world of death and cold.
[SPEAKER_01]: It has a decaying sun that leaves the world in either twilight or utter darkness.
[SPEAKER_01]: The surface itself is just, and it's just kind of a nightmareishly viewed surface.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's got mountains and valleys and planes,
[SPEAKER_01]: deep crags and all of its frozen, even the Caesar frozen, but underneath them are a host of predatory animals that would burst through the surface and let's snatch you.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that was by the way on the good side of the planet, because GW writes it like it doesn't rotate.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's just what they meant to say that it's tidally locked to the sun, which means that one side of it, the way it revolves around the sun at the same speed it rotates.
[SPEAKER_01]: So one side of the planet never faces the sun.
[SPEAKER_01]: I guess I learned by the way in our research, Venus does that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Who knew?
[SPEAKER_01]: But apparently Venus is tidally locked to the sun.
[SPEAKER_01]: These are things I learned.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, the dark side of the planet is really crappy.
[SPEAKER_01]: The dark side of the planet is kind of like Calaban, and that it's full of monsters.
[SPEAKER_01]: Although, although they're not warping few monsters, they're just monsters that live in the dark.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think what you meant to say, John, is this move planet was like pitch black.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is a, there's a vendesal movie about this called pitch black, which
[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't seen in twenty years, but I don't remember it being great.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: You take that back.
[SPEAKER_00]: Ridical come after you.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Chronicles of Ridic was not good.
[SPEAKER_01]: That one, I do remember that.
[SPEAKER_01]: I remember that going like, well, this isn't good.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, the really important part about Inwith though is not the planet itself.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's the system that it's in.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's no records of it, obviously, but Inwith was a powerful system during the age of technology and just got wrecked during the age of strife.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's well because the system has random space stations, satellites all scattered throughout the system.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, crazy.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they were all out of reach of the populace who were stuck on the planet until, of course, Rogel Doran shows up.
[SPEAKER_01]: And what's kind of like weird about this is that unlike his brothers,
[SPEAKER_01]: There's no history of Rogel, Dorn at an early age.
[SPEAKER_01]: We just, Dorn, we know he gets adopted by some of the locals and rises up eventually to become the emperor of Inwit.
[SPEAKER_01]: And from there, Dorn improves the people and they build crafts and actually go into space.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's where the time he's an early adult.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's, they went from like, wooden ships to space ships.
[SPEAKER_00]: So he was barely legit.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it is kind of funny because every other primaric story is like, you talk about, you know, as a child, they were, here's their upbringing.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn, there's nothing.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn just was there.
[SPEAKER_01]: Someone found him.
[SPEAKER_01]: They adopted him.
[SPEAKER_01]: He rose to the emperor.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then once he was emperor, he invented space travel.
[SPEAKER_00]: Is he the most successful on his original planet?
[SPEAKER_00]: Because he actually goes beyond the planet.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yellowman, did you even get off the planet by the time the emperor got there?
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, obviously took over the whole system.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: But Dorn actually went and started getting these space stations.
[SPEAKER_00]: He had a ton of stuff by the time the Emperor shows up.
[SPEAKER_01]: You're probably right, probably is Dorn.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the one thing that's really funny about this to me is that the technology Dorn recovers, by the way, is astronomical.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, namely, a special space station, which is even a space station, it's the Death Star called the Phalanx.
[SPEAKER_01]: The phalanx is this massive, it's about the size of a Death Star, but it's shaped like a mace, is how they describe it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And you guys can look at Google, it's really easy to find images of.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's effectively a hive city forge world in space.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, slash, biggest frickin' spaceship you've ever seen.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Dorn and his people get up to it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hearn it on and figure out how to use it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they're just kind of wheeling around and they use this and to conquer the rest of the system.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they end up actually Dorn by time the emperor arrives.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn's people have actually colonized and conquered their entire system.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the pun I like is that the emperor arrives with his fleet and he's greeted by Dorn on the phalanx, which is larger than probably forty percent of the Empress fleet combined.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hey man, what's going on?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that must have been an awkward meeting to be like, oh, hey, we're here to bring you back into Imperial compliance.
[SPEAKER_01]: And if you could not shoot at us, that would be super cool.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because I actually do think
[SPEAKER_01]: He wouldn't have killed the emperor, but it would have hurt.
[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, they get along.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Dorne, kind of like Fulgram, just immediately joins with the emperor.
[SPEAKER_01]: The emperor did, by the way, let Dorne keep his supership.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it was like, oh, yeah, that's totally yours.
[SPEAKER_01]: But if you could, we're going back to Terra now.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you could bring that thing with you, that would be super cool.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Keynote, though.
[SPEAKER_01]: Every other primar, when they left their home world,
[SPEAKER_01]: Barring, maybe I can't think of who Amy didn't do this, turned their home world into their recruiting world.
[SPEAKER_01]: So from forever for that became the home world of their Legion.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn didn't do that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn just...
[SPEAKER_01]: He left in wit in wit still under his protection, but the home world of the imperial fists is actually the phalanx.
[SPEAKER_01]: They are the only mobile space marine legend, which comes up a lot more.
[SPEAKER_01]: The rock now.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that was unintentional.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the rock still is technically calaban.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just not a big, it's just, you know, not all of it.
[SPEAKER_00]: They just put engines on the part that was left.
[SPEAKER_00]: So the Felix is awesome because it's again, it's the official homework in the fist.
[SPEAKER_00]: If that's mobile, but it's it's so big.
[SPEAKER_00]: One of my favorites of the stories is it's so big.
[SPEAKER_00]: It reflects light.
[SPEAKER_00]: You think it's a star.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you look in the night sky and
[SPEAKER_00]: It's the biggest ship that's ever been created, and it's still around.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's been kicking ass for eleven thousand years now.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, and it has kicked some ass bloody.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's got several of the pupus on it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's got, and it has shown that some key battles and done some pretty key things.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's dive into Dorn joining his legion.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, Rogold is a horrifically cold individual.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if he was written to be like a German engineer or just a really classic British officer, but it's one of those two.
[SPEAKER_01]: He always speaks what he believes to be true with no polish or care, because if he feels he's correct in what he says is true, there's nothing wrong with saying it.
[SPEAKER_01]: for any of our German listeners who don't say why I just made a comment about you.
[SPEAKER_01]: I've been working with Germans for over twenty years and you guys are masters of the Ricky Bobby with all due respect statement because if you don't say with all due respect before it and just say things and it's it is I just laugh half and I've been in a lot of engineering calls where someone has said okay I just want to let you know you should with a German accent what let you know that everything you just said to me was incorrect and your idea is terrible.

[SPEAKER_01]: We are, we are love by Tom all about Uranus and all these things.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then Rogel, look at him, says, thank you.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's it.
[SPEAKER_01]: He just says, thank you.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then makes him the new commander of the Inwood system.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then as he walks away from him, returns on and says, oh, by the way, I need you to get me thirty regiments of Imperial Fists and then he just leaves.
[SPEAKER_00]: Also on this though, thirty wrenchaments of Marines is such a wild tall order.
[SPEAKER_00]: Adore just goes, dooses, figure it out, goodbye.
[SPEAKER_00]: Also, you're not coming with the Legion.

[SPEAKER_00]: And just drives, he basically takes his keys, gets in his car and drives away.

[SPEAKER_01]: This guy is a strategic genius.
[SPEAKER_01]: They are taking land, securing new frontiers, like it's nothing.
[SPEAKER_01]: And again, as we were discussing earlier, everything they do is effectively perfect because they take a world they fortify the world, they leave it.
[SPEAKER_01]: So there, my guess is if you're looking at the statistics, I bet you,
[SPEAKER_01]: the space wolves are there like total number of worlds conquered in a year is like number one.
[SPEAKER_01]: But then if you look at like the five year trend of how many them are still in the Imperium five years later, it's not that good.
[SPEAKER_01]: Whereas the Imperial fists, they're like their legacy of like how many are still here?
[SPEAKER_01]: A hundred percent of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Why?
[SPEAKER_00]: You're looking at gross and net.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: Whatever.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's what I do for work.
[SPEAKER_01]: No victory though.
[SPEAKER_01]: It really stands above the victory at Necromanda.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so.
[SPEAKER_00]: Play the game.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's a lot of people ask us for books for other references.
[SPEAKER_00]: Necromanda is also a faster game than playing on the tape.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it's big for me.
[SPEAKER_01]: Necromanda is really cool because it's forty.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's forty K adjacent.
[SPEAKER_01]: You're playing in the forty K universe, but you're not doing that playing all space screens.
[SPEAKER_01]: That kind of stuff.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so it is a very well written game.
[SPEAKER_01]: So hang in here playing games.
[SPEAKER_01]: So let's talk about necramundum.
[SPEAKER_01]: So necramundum is actually a system and it's not that far from the soul and it's been settled during the age of technology.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was the and this is kind of a really classic great crusade story.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's so necramundum is the capital of this
[SPEAKER_01]: Empire that actually spanned about six or so star systems so not just most of the stuff the emperor agent would bump into it be like one planet maybe a system this was six different star systems which are not close to each other that it made up this group and the only reason they're able to do that is they actually had warp gates on in each system and almost the planets
[SPEAKER_00]: All right, buckle in everyone because they wrote this kind of odd because a web way gate gives you access to the web way.
[SPEAKER_00]: You basically get active.
[SPEAKER_00]: By a ticket, you'd grow onto the transit system.
[SPEAKER_00]: A warp gate is just a straight line, effectively tube, but it's through the warp.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's just a cut through in the warp.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's an solid pipe that goes nowhere else.
[SPEAKER_00]: You can't access anywhere else.
[SPEAKER_00]: It goes from here to here.
[SPEAKER_01]: But what's nice, it's instant, though.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the thing that we talked about work felt before normal work travels not is that it's faster, but it's not instant.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is instant.
[SPEAKER_01]: You step into one work gate.
[SPEAKER_01]: You step out the other side.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's the thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: So these work gates are really, this is what allowed this empire to grow.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, that being said also, I should also point out that we just said all that and there are warp gates that go into the immaterial because it's GW writing and so what is a firm hundred percent rule will change if there's a writer who decides that rule sucks for the story you're trying to tell.
[SPEAKER_00]: Also, why aren't we making tons of these for instantaneous travel?
[SPEAKER_01]: It would be much better.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, when the first imperial ship arrives in this system, they get attacked immediately.
[SPEAKER_01]: The only message that gets back to the Imperium is via the Asterpats.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're just saying there's a highly advanced, highly hostile group here, but they are human.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the next thing the Imperium does is send another on-voi because we have these road traders, let's just keep sending them because I don't really care about them more.
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they send another on-voi.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this is where it gets interesting.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the next on-voi arrives and this time they actually are greeted.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the rulers are known as the arenas.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they show themselves to be these cybernetically enhanced race with incredible technology.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the Uranus refused all overtures of the Imperium, and instead make an offer back saying that, well, if you guys would like to be our subjects, we would accept you into our empire.
[SPEAKER_01]: The Emperor declines this offer and sends the fists to handle the situation.
[SPEAKER_01]: This isn't going super well for the Uranus.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is brutal.
[SPEAKER_01]: Within two months, the fist had conquered every single system and had the Uranus push down to one planet.
[SPEAKER_01]: And my favorite part of this whole story is what they do next.
[SPEAKER_01]: Rather than invade the last planet, the Imperial fist bring their fleet in between the planet and the Sun and block out the Sun with their fleet.
[SPEAKER_01]: which is a pretty solid, you wanna surrender now.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the Uranus went this, we'd like to surrender now.
[SPEAKER_01]: This would be, this feels like a good time to surrender.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they do, and Imperophist take it, but that's not the end of the story.
[SPEAKER_01]: And not long after the world is conquered and brought into compliance, this weird hidden foe starts attacking.
[SPEAKER_01]: Effectively coming out of the warp gates, it's Zeno's, their described as being made of darkness and lightning, just would come out and slaughter things.
[SPEAKER_01]: Ballrog.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: I was just wondering, well, it's not just the ball rock.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a bunch of ball rocks.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a collection of ball rocks just attacking out of nowhere.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so, but again, the fists are the ones who are here.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they have fortifications, so they hold up for a bit, but they realize pretty quickly two things.
[SPEAKER_01]: One, this is definitely the Aranius's move.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is something that they probably knew about this and they did something to effectively
[SPEAKER_01]: say, if you can't, if I can't have my world, you can't have my world.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the second thing the fist do is say, well, no work gates, no ball rugs.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they're like, hey, isn't this awesome instantaneous travel?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but also it's easier than fighting these guys.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they blow up all of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: The downside of blowing them up is apparently work gates don't like to be blown up.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so when they do it, it actually blows up a lot most of the planets that they're on.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have a lot of information on this one.
[SPEAKER_01]: Guys, I'm just giving you what I got at a GW.
[SPEAKER_00]: So as, yeah, well, the one thing they said about it is the explosion changed the orbit of several of these planets.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: So you're just like, hey, man, it's super cold right now.
[SPEAKER_00]: Mainly because we're farther away and tilted the wrong way.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, did they get hit?
[SPEAKER_01]: Did they hit by a meteor like the one guard army?
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, God.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what?
[SPEAKER_01]: You know that makes me mad because it's just because the ultimate violation of physics.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm aware.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was a stupid one.
[SPEAKER_01]: But at the end of it, the Iranian system actually goes from six star systems full of planets to effectively just necramunda.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's it.
[SPEAKER_01]: They lost most of the worlds.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure I'm sure some of them got salvaged, but the key one is of course necramunda.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then yeah, we're going to throw up through a door to the bus for this one though, because he went
[SPEAKER_00]: whoopsed like he had to give the whole my bad.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, for this one.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's like, we could fight that, but there was a really stiff forward.
[SPEAKER_00]: We could just kill them right now.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that was a colossal collateral damage.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, shit.
[SPEAKER_01]: What I like though about the fists, though, this is where it can I enjoy the fists.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the fists, the finishes whole thing up and the citizenry of Necromania, they look at them and say, this is going to be kind of, we're going to recruit from there.
[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't become an official recruiting world, but we need to have a bunch of them because they're really tough.
[SPEAKER_01]: The reason this is funny is that citizens of Necramunda hate the imperium.
[SPEAKER_01]: They revolt regularly.
[SPEAKER_01]: But it's why the game exists as it is.
[SPEAKER_01]: Necramunda constantly under civil war and revolution.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's also throw out Necramunda though.
[SPEAKER_00]: Necramunda is what in one of it's not the most populated.
[SPEAKER_00]: It is the largest.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's the galaxy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's got, it probably has trillions of people on it.
[SPEAKER_01]: But the fist just go, yeah, these people who
[SPEAKER_01]: You're a ballet against the Imperium?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what we're looking for?
[SPEAKER_01]: We're looking for very tough warriors who are firm in their beliefs.
[SPEAKER_01]: Problem solved.
[SPEAKER_01]: So Necromanda becomes one of the many recruiting worlds for the Imperial Fists.
[SPEAKER_01]: I just like that story.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's funny because let's talk about Dorn.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: If there was ever a person that was more on the Imperial Truth, the Emperor's correct.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm doing exactly what his mission, there's a, here's the mission statement from the Emperor.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're doing this.
[SPEAKER_00]: What happens if there's a gray area?
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think you, you must have misheard me.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're doing
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Period.
[SPEAKER_01]: And we talk about this a lot with the primarks and all and more tearing than most if you did.
[SPEAKER_01]: But most the primarks really liked the emperor and they looked to the emperor for guidance.
[SPEAKER_01]: The difference was it was usually they liked the emperor.
[SPEAKER_01]: Don't love the emperor.
[SPEAKER_01]: Don't get me wrong.
[SPEAKER_01]: But he really believed in the imperial truth more so than any of the other ones.
[SPEAKER_01]: He really did believe the emperor was correct and this system was going to go.
[SPEAKER_01]: Just probably why he ends up back on territory thereafter.
[SPEAKER_01]: thing, though, is that Dorn in this belief does believe in the superiority of the Imperium.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that part of that superiority is the way that we behave, needs to be better than others.
[SPEAKER_01]: This would create conflict with some other legions.
[SPEAKER_01]: And some of them were obvious and others.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it constantly.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because again, Dorn was there is only the letter of the law.
[SPEAKER_00]: If he was playing a game, he's playing by Raw rules as written
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I think Brad talks about Vulcan being like a paladin.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn's not that far behind though.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn's just he just the difference is Dorn's more accepting of collateral damage and Vulcan was, but they both have the same thing of there is honor and you will have honor.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's let's do this.
[SPEAKER_00]: Dorn is a knight.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's lawful neutral.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: with the emphasis on law.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's good.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's more neutral good than law.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think if it was definitely not neutral good.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's still super lawful.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's so crazy.

[SPEAKER_01]: He's the book always.
[SPEAKER_01]: He is, but I just, I push him more and a lawful good because he really is following it rules.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's a lawful good fanatic fan because he will do terrible stuff if you have broken the law and he still needs.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, right.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: A hundred percent.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's some piece maker going on here.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't matter how many people have to kill to get peace.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, a good example of this conflict, the first major one I like is the astronomy campaign.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, the astronomy with this highly advanced society that had a heap of gold-nage of technology relics.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, they send, dorn and the fists, and ferrous, and the iron hands to go conquer the planet.
[SPEAKER_01]: on the way though the mechanicum get involved and the mechanicum give a separate order to it goes the iron hand saying actually we want this technology and we don't really want these people so if you could genocide the entire planet that'd be super cool.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's, it's specific though.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is why they also kind of go, they knew something was shady because it wasn't, you know, virus blow up the planet.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was kill all the people specifically.
[SPEAKER_01]: All of the people.
[SPEAKER_01]: All of the people.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn gets there and there's no reason to do this.
[SPEAKER_01]: We can just conquer the planet.
[SPEAKER_01]: These people, they're gonna, they're gonna follow the imperial truth.
[SPEAKER_01]: What's the issue?
[SPEAKER_01]: Ferris Manis just goes, yeah, they said, kill them.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm gonna go do that now and just start killing them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn then ends at moving his legion in between the populace and the iron hands.
[SPEAKER_01]: And these two, it's about to be, this isn't just like, might say, come to blows.
[SPEAKER_01]: This isn't Dorn and Ferris are going to fight.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to have two entire legions of a hundred thousand potential space marines going to war in front of a populace who just got conquered.
[SPEAKER_01]: So that must have been a wild experience.
[SPEAKER_01]: So we surrender it and now they're going to kill each other.
[SPEAKER_01]: Did we surrender wrong?
[SPEAKER_00]: Again, imagine if you're hearing some of the rest of this, you start cheering pretty heavily for the fist.
[SPEAKER_00]: So they're going to do a duel.
[SPEAKER_00]: I kind of want the guy to win that says he's not going to kill all of us.
[SPEAKER_01]: But this is a really cool story because it sets up well a few different things, but it sets up where the how the imperial fist feel about themselves.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, Dorn and Ferris agree that basically agreed a disagree, but they have to come to an agreement.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, this is there and say, all right, we're going to put our champions up.
[SPEAKER_01]: I send my champion, you said your champion, which ever champion wins, we'll deal with that primar excess.
[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, I read Hans fans, but you guys send thos and the fifth sends Siggasman, who is top ten coolers dudes at all of stores?
[SPEAKER_01]: Siggasman is, I was about to say he's the best non-primark fighter, but I would put money on him over, Lordgar.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what we have.
[SPEAKER_01]: So in the, so they have this tool and the tool is important because of what comes out of it.
[SPEAKER_01]: So Sigismann just beats the piss out of those pretty quickly and it's just wrecking him, but those won't yield.
[SPEAKER_01]: He keeps knocking him down and telling yield and those won't yield.
[SPEAKER_01]: It won't yield over and over again.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, he's playing the whole item here, no bell.
[SPEAKER_01]: We all heard the bell.
[SPEAKER_01]: So eventually, Ferris Manis gets up and walks over and gets in between with him.
[SPEAKER_01]: He turns that the Siggas manises, are you not willing to kill him?
[SPEAKER_01]: He won't yield.
[SPEAKER_01]: Why won't you kill him?
[SPEAKER_01]: And Siggasman responds, saying, I'm not going to kill a fellow of starities or something as petty as an honor duel.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Ferris looks at that, it just takes in and turns the foes and says, you yield.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he honors the wishes of Doran and follows his thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: This I think is an important thing because this is a good example of what the fists were.
[SPEAKER_01]: Sigismant could have easily just murdered foes.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like it was nothing, but he wouldn't do it because that's not in teachings of the Imperial truth.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is my brother.
[SPEAKER_01]: Even though we're not that close related, he's still my brother.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not killing him over an honor duel.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now,
[SPEAKER_01]: That's a fun, that's the happy story.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get into Dorn and some of the other primarks, maybe it doesn't go along well with.
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be right back after a quick break.
[SPEAKER_00]: Dorn, let's talk about, let's just preface this with, because Dorn has the most unfiltered of unfilterness, the people that don't like him, like, there's a lot of people that didn't get along, and brothers, the primarks.
[SPEAKER_00]: However, the people that don't like Dorn,
[SPEAKER_00]: hate door.
[SPEAKER_01]: The one of just, yeah, one of them really hates it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Her Puerto Ravo was willing to join chaos.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, just to fight.
[SPEAKER_01]: So let's talk about this amongst the brothers, Doran's always a bit of odds.
[SPEAKER_01]: So he's not crazy, like, anger on our curves, and he's not weird, like, Morty and Magnus.
[SPEAKER_01]: He was just kind of off putting the lion was like most of the like of what I call the normals within the primarx.
[SPEAKER_01]: The lion wasn't that popular and now they was born.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's not a psychopath, but he's just he's also not much for talk when you guys are going out to eat.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: And there's a lot of, like, canon conflicts on this and could depends on the folks of the book you're reading, but Rogel's referred to in a lot of occasions as the greatest tactician of the primarks.
[SPEAKER_01]: He is really well-liked.
[SPEAKER_01]: His battle plans and battle acumen are borderline perfect.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so, but the funny story is he's also known to hold grudges.
[SPEAKER_01]: He was a grouch.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so, if he didn't like you, he would hold it forever.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he could be
[SPEAKER_00]: again dwarf.
[SPEAKER_00]: He has a dwarven book of grudges and his grudges were bananas nitpicky.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you didn't do exactly what he thought you were supposed to do and these were certainly went from big things to unbelievably small things.
[SPEAKER_00]: Don had no levels of annoyance.
[SPEAKER_00]: He just was or was not annoyed about something.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: But let's talk about Doran's biggest, his biggest fan first.
[SPEAKER_01]: Everyone respects Doran's ability in his strategic capabilities.
[SPEAKER_01]: Even Horace at one point made remarked that he hoped to never assail an imperial fist fortress because he claimed in doing so the battle would last for eternity.
[SPEAKER_01]: The greatest defense against the greatest attack.
[SPEAKER_01]: And yes, seven years after he says this, that's exactly what happens.
[SPEAKER_01]: So whatever.
[SPEAKER_01]: But there's one prime mark who really didn't care for this, and that's Peter Robo of the Iron Warriors.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's because they're the Legion of Siege warfare.
[SPEAKER_01]: They were convinced there was no fortification that they couldn't break.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's basically from the day they met, Peter Robo didn't like Dorn.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Dorn, to his credit, Dorn didn't really care for him very much either, because I think you did have the guy who kicks down San Castles and the guy who build San Castles didn't really want to hang out.
[SPEAKER_01]: So one day what happens is the Emperor comes and informs Dorn that he needs him to come back to Terra to construct the fortifications for the Imperial Palace.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I forget which primarck says it, but one of them asks Dorn in passing effectively, do you think your fortifications could stand up against the Iron Warriors?
[SPEAKER_01]: And Dorn does the German engineering goes, yeah, and walks away.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, no other word, just says, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Peter, put a rabble, loses his mind.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, he goes psychotic.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, to the point where his own legion, we're actually, we're scared and confused because he's discreeming vitriol about how much dorn sucks.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn, he's undermining humanity, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
[SPEAKER_01]: And to be fair, we'll cover, we're doing iron warriors episode.
[SPEAKER_01]: Peter rabble had some anger issues.
[SPEAKER_01]: Not angry on level anger issues, but he had some anger issues.
[SPEAKER_01]: Pedarabo from that day forward begins searching for every way he can find to show his superiority to Dorn.
[SPEAKER_01]: Spoiler alert, we're gonna get there pretty quick, but this rivalry was real though.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn and Petarabo really did not like each other.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, now there's another rivalry though that I didn't wanna talk about with Dorn and didn't really like a lot of his brothers anyway.
[SPEAKER_01]: Leeman he thought was too brash, Corvax's style he thought was unreliable, and Grons to aggressive.
[SPEAKER_01]: He also, but his two biggest issues as far as outside of Petarabo being kind of, you know,
[SPEAKER_01]: Screw you for being my opposite.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're alpharious and curse.
[SPEAKER_01]: Alpharious.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're too wildly different things though.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_00]: I want to start with.
[SPEAKER_00]: Alpharious wasn't about how he approached warfare.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was the fact that Alpharious kind of thought that the imperial truth was like the pirate code was more of a suggestion.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but he talked about it a lot.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he would, I'm not talking to you would have a tiny conversation.
[SPEAKER_00]: Alfredius was willing to sit down with you and tell you his interpretation of the imperial truth.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: And, but also he did have some issues with how Alfredius would fight battles.
[SPEAKER_01]: And let, we can talk about it.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Alpharious, the issue is with Alpharious and the Alpha Legion is that they have a very unique way of fighting.
[SPEAKER_01]: We talk about how everyone's the Ravenguard or Masters of stealth, not like Alpha Legion.
[SPEAKER_01]: Alpha Legion is that scene in Terminator II, which is not a good movie.
[SPEAKER_01]: He takes over the mother and it's at that level.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what Alpha Legion does.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you got killed by the guy that hands you your coffee every day.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you're like, well, come on.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: But it, let's say he doesn't have an issue with the things he does.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're, sorry, like I was saying, he didn't have when he was doing individual stuff.
[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't care what the Alpha Legion was doing.
[SPEAKER_00]: Rogal did had an issue with the Alpha, be specifically a fairies.
[SPEAKER_00]: He had an issue with him because he had a plan in our fairies didn't follow his plan.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, at all.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, let's think into this one.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's one of the fun stories.
[SPEAKER_01]: So there's something called the World Prince campaign.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the World Prince campaign was a world that had a prince.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's really what it's called.
[SPEAKER_01]: Guys, sorry about that.
[SPEAKER_01]: The fists get there.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the fists are sent over there with Alpha Legion.
[SPEAKER_01]: The fists arrive and they don't see any Alpha Legion and they just go whatever and they get after it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this world is pretty well equipped and they're well armed.
[SPEAKER_01]: One day, the Alpha Legion do kind of appear in orbit, but they deploy no soldiers.
[SPEAKER_01]: Suddenly, one day, a bunch of uprisings though.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the fists are fighting through this planet, and then out of nowhere, the entire planet catches fire.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's uprisings all over the place, and then in one night, the entire, like every single member of the Rolling Family, except for the Ken, is just dead.
[SPEAKER_01]: To which the monarch immediately surrenders to Doran assuming Doran did this.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn is pissed.
[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't like this style of warfare.
[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't like it because I think he's correct here.
[SPEAKER_01]: It emboldens rebellion at the later date.
[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't want to be seen as a tyrant.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so he's upset about this and he goes and sees how far he is.
[SPEAKER_01]: Think we haven't covered our various yet.
[SPEAKER_01]: Our various, they all look the same.
[SPEAKER_01]: The entire legion looks the exact same.
[SPEAKER_01]: So he walks in to go yell at our our various and he's greeted by three men who all look about the same.
[SPEAKER_01]: Tharius of looks at Dornan says, I wage war in the way the emperor created it.
[SPEAKER_01]: The Emperor created me and my legion.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is what we're good at.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is how we're going to fight.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he begins basically talking crap to Dorn and his style of fighting at which point Dorn does the most Dorn thing possible.
[SPEAKER_01]: He pulls out what is effectively a PowerPoint presentation and goes through.
[SPEAKER_01]: I love what he has this with him.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Here's my laptop.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I'm not joking with this.
[SPEAKER_01]: He actually does.
[SPEAKER_01]: He brings up the entirety of the Alpha Legion battle plan and just goes point by point on here's how I think it sucks and it doesn't work.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then he leaves leaving a copy behind for Elferas to read later and just moves all this.
[SPEAKER_00]: He had this ready.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this is the best part.
[SPEAKER_00]: He already had a PowerPoint presentation with copies about here's the things that suck about your style of battle.
[SPEAKER_00]: Here's what you should be doing.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm just going to leave this with you with some recommendations.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm going to get back with you with a plan a three month, a six month and a year.
[SPEAKER_01]: Don't worry, if you want, I'll mentor you.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it was brutal.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm sure after he left Al Ferris and looked at, well, and Oh my God, I'm probably not as usual, hiding behind a pillar somewhere, nine foot tall by mark.
[SPEAKER_00]: What do you do with one of the other primarics, Pips you?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, am I on probation right now?
[SPEAKER_01]: Just after.
[SPEAKER_01]: But that disagreement was on tactics.
[SPEAKER_01]: Way to wake up or dawn and curse.
[SPEAKER_01]: So.
[SPEAKER_00]: When you go with a guy that believes completely in the imperial truth, and this is the way you're supposed to do things, and then... Crazy Batman, you're pure psychopath time.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, let's dig into Curs.
[SPEAKER_01]: Real quick, hit her on Curs.
[SPEAKER_01]: Curs is able to see the future, not well.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's the best way to explain it.
[SPEAKER_01]: He can see it sort of.
[SPEAKER_01]: One of his key visions is of the Horace Harris see itself.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he takes this story.
[SPEAKER_01]: He tells it not to only a few of the primarks, Dorn not being one of them, but Fulgrim being one of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Fulgrim being since it's a group of brothers just starts telling everybody about it anyway.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, Fulgrim tells Dorn about
[SPEAKER_01]: Curses weird visions.
[SPEAKER_01]: That was a little bit of a dick move by the way.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, hey, here's my super secret.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, cool.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, I'm going to go tell this guy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let me tell Dorn.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: He should probably be here with Dorn will be awesome.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the two, it's so randomly because apparently the Emperor is an idiot and he decided to have the Imperial Fists and the Night Lords attack the same planet.
[SPEAKER_01]: The planet is called Shirat, Shiru, one of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a world that was bitterly resisting imperial compliance, and the act of trying to bring in them in was requiring months of work from the fists, the nightlords, and the emperors children, and a mass of the imperial army.
[SPEAKER_01]: And as always, as this conflict's going, infant violence nightlords, the nightlords start sneaking off at night to just to skin the population.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn doesn't think that's cool because again, these murders have no strategic value and they're actually you're just hardening the defenses because, you know, they're actually completely against.
[SPEAKER_00]: They are having the opposite.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's good.
[SPEAKER_00]: Making people fight against you that could have already been in here.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because they don't want to surrender because they think if they surrender, they'll get skinned alive because they're being skinned alive by the people they're trying to surrender to, using not a good thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, Dorn goes any confronts curse with this and curse his blows him off and then Dorn accuses Curs of being a traitor.
[SPEAKER_01]: It says, you know, that's it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he reveals to him what Fulgram told him.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he said, I know you have this vision of the future of the Harris Hills stuff.
[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, you see that because you're the reason behind it.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, that's effectively what he says to him.
[SPEAKER_01]: hers loses his mind at this accusation, which doesn't say much because his mind wasn't much there to start with.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he actually attacks Dorn, and this is the only L I can think of Dorn taking until post heresy.
[SPEAKER_00]: But I'll give this to Kurt one.
[SPEAKER_00]: Kurt is pretty sneaky.
[SPEAKER_00]: And one of the biggest things is him and I think Dorn thinks they're having a debate.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, about this and he's just not ready to be attacked.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and they first just rail on him.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I encourage just launches out of me at the debate.
[SPEAKER_01]: They have involved curses lightning claw in Doran's face and it doesn't go great for Doran's face.
[SPEAKER_01]: But it does make a bunch of noise, and so all of a sudden, Dorne's guards, or he's actually called a Templar, burst into the room.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they see curves on top of Dorne, who's unconscious, and a floor with lightning claw damage to his face.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they somehow arrest curves, whatever, and throw them in jail.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they bring the other, and they involve the other primarques about what are we going to do?
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, because the thing about the Templar is, you know, these are his personal guard, but they really probably can't just kill the primarque of another legion without a few other people kind of giving it some AOKs.
[SPEAKER_00]: They give my boy Curtis some props on this.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think he just let himself get arrested because what he did was immediately murder those guys.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's what that is.
[SPEAKER_01]: But it's like, they have a full-grown and dorn.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think it might've been somewhat... I think they may have called somebody how to debate what to do with it and then they march down to the cell to go deal with them and the cell's empty and every guard anywhere near the cell is dead.
[SPEAKER_01]: What's interesting is also the nightboards are gone.
[SPEAKER_01]: Curtis's point grabs his entire legion and goes into the war with them.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is before the heresy, cool little story.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, though, let's get to where Dorn really parties.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn in the heresy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn is told, returned to Terra.
[SPEAKER_01]: I need you to build, you know, the ultimate fort.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he's like, cool, I'm on my way.
[SPEAKER_01]: The problem is as soon as he goes and starts heading back, this is right about the time Horace turns.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like almost dead exact moment.
[SPEAKER_01]: So as they're going back, the warp storms explode and they get massively delayed.
[SPEAKER_01]: which ends up being really fortuitous for them, because as they're going back, there's this massive flash in the warp that they head over to, and that flash was the ice in the stine.
[SPEAKER_01]: The ice is stine, you know, we can list our cast on it, blew up their warp drive, which made a giant beacon and they arrived.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn gets there.
[SPEAKER_01]: The people on the island sign tell him what happened and immediately goes screw that screw all of you.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's no way that's true and it's furious by the way.
[SPEAKER_00]: But they also doesn't I gotta get my cheating together.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is a cast about him in this Legion.
[SPEAKER_00]: They had footage of everything that happened.
[SPEAKER_00]: That door refuses to look at it because he just can't believe that his brothers would do this.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but he does eventually realizes it's true and he does now he just be lines even faster back to terror to go tell the emperor of it.
[SPEAKER_01]: So his defense of terror, he knows they need to do two things to defend terror.
[SPEAKER_01]: First, to fortify the whole system in a layering set up.
[SPEAKER_01]: This way, you're just taking as many pounds of flesh out of the enemy as they're coming in so that they get weakened.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go in this though, because we're talking about the defense of Terra.
[SPEAKER_00]: The defensive Terra isn't him making Terra super fortified.
[SPEAKER_00]: He starts at the very edge of the soul system.
[SPEAKER_00]: all the fortifications, all the defensive satellites every moon.
[SPEAKER_00]: He puts mine fields floating in there.
[SPEAKER_00]: He just makes it so if you get to Terra, you're taking huge losses just
[SPEAKER_00]: on your way here.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's not even trying to protect all those other areas.
[SPEAKER_00]: He just wants you to lose dips, men, resources.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this is because he knew if he could create a protracted siege, the problem is that Horace's forces could only, they couldn't fortify behind them.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the call has gone out.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the space wolves, the dark angels, the ultra marines, the blood angels, they're all on their way.
[SPEAKER_01]: But Dorn doesn't know, by the way, how fast Horace is going to show up.
[SPEAKER_01]: Is he going to be here tomorrow?
[SPEAKER_01]: Is he going to be here in seven years?
[SPEAKER_01]: There was seven years.
[SPEAKER_01]: This whole system's designed not so much to stop you at any point, but to make each step more and more taxing upon you.
[SPEAKER_01]: The second thing Dorn does is disrupt the flow of supplies into the trainers.
[SPEAKER_01]: So he has to destroy any supply lines, any planets, any anything.
[SPEAKER_01]: So those are his two goals.
[SPEAKER_01]: He does a great job in the first one.
[SPEAKER_01]: He puts a gun on everything.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like the Brad's point, like the outer rim by Pluto looked like a kid's cartoon drawing where you draw a gun with a gun on it and a gun on it.
[SPEAKER_01]: What was the fifth element?
[SPEAKER_01]: Like the gun in the fifth element?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's basically what the whole system looks like.
[SPEAKER_01]: He then shuts down all the work gates, including the one inside Uranus.
[SPEAKER_01]: So nothing could jump into the galaxy.
[SPEAKER_01]: You had to come in this slow way.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I guys, I'm forty three years old and Uranus jokes aren't going to stop.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I know it's pronounced Uranus.
[SPEAKER_01]: And honestly, no, it's not.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's pronounced Uranus.
[SPEAKER_01]: You could tell me, no, it's pronounced Uranus.
[SPEAKER_01]: Is it?
[SPEAKER_01]: Just saying.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the second part, though, of Dorn trying to effectively neutered the traitor legions was more complicated.
[SPEAKER_01]: Primarily because Mars, Mars turns traitor and the majority of Mars turns traitor.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn, this causes a problem for him.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because he does have the fleet, the problem for Dorn with Mars is he's got the fleet to destroy, he just blow Mars up.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's not planning.
[SPEAKER_00]: He needs all the shit there.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's be honest.
[SPEAKER_01]: He needs that.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's playing to win this war.
[SPEAKER_01]: At the end of the war, he's going to reconquer Mars, so we really can't afford to lose Mars.
[SPEAKER_01]: So he asked, so he has to do two things.
[SPEAKER_01]: First, he just surrounds it, so nothing can do anything.
[SPEAKER_01]: And second, he sends everyone's favorite Sigismund to go, can you just go grab some crap from there?
[SPEAKER_01]: And Sigismund basically does a raid on Mars.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's, by the way, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not giving the story justice because it's a really cool story.
[SPEAKER_01]: But Sigismund goes over there and just grabs a ton of weapons, armor, all this stuff that love it and it's being vital to the defense of terror.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like he also kills
[SPEAKER_00]: So many tracks.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I'm saying.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is the biggestment books.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you're a Black Templar fan, you probably already read them.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you're not still read them, biggestment is awesome.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just awesome full stop.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn next has to disrupt the forces, though, that are outside of soul.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so what he does is effectively make some examples of some systems.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn decided to make it really clear.
[SPEAKER_01]: You were with the Emperor or you were with Horace.
[SPEAKER_01]: And if you're with Horace, you'd better hope Horace is fortifying your world.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because if he doesn't, I'm gonna wipe it from existence.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he does.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he's not retaking that.
[SPEAKER_00]: He just blows them off.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he actually, is it becoming a protracted war, but the imperial fist or who destroys it?
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, actually, the dark angels alone do finally kill Sethonia, which is the home world of Horace, but the imperial fist go to Sethonia.
[SPEAKER_01]: They intentionally, we don't like that very much,
[SPEAKER_01]: During the Horace Heresy, every single homeworld, I believe it's every single homeworld of a trader, Primark, gets destroyed.
[SPEAKER_01]: They make it really clear.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm trying to think of anyone that's skipped.
[SPEAKER_01]: Pretty sure they're all gone.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, so now, we've let Brad pass.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're pretty far into this cast now, and Brad hasn't had to say really nice things about real Gold Dawn.
[SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately, he's going to have to now because now we're going to discuss rogule dorn and the boots of mighty eskicking.
[SPEAKER_01]: Adam, that's true.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just true.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, I mean, dorn, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn slaps, dorn slaps.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, they get a rogule dorn.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn is not a lead from behind general.
[SPEAKER_01]: You've got like Vulcan, Lehman, Lyons and Gwynes.
[SPEAKER_01]: They love to lead their troops in battle.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn trusts his commanders.
[SPEAKER_01]: But he feels the enemy's too strong.
[SPEAKER_01]: He takes that burden on his shoulders and just shows up.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I'll tell you what.
[SPEAKER_01]: When you read the stories of Dorn, the boots of mighty ass kicking probably are yellow with black trim because this man wears them.
[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll start with Pluto and Pluto's a really cool alpha legion story.
[SPEAKER_01]: So Doran, as we said, has shut off all travel into the system.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to get into Seoul, you're coming to a warp gate that either is, but it might be a closed warp gate, or if you land there, there is a giant battalion waiting for you.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the outflation has to get in.
[SPEAKER_01]: So what they do is kind of super badass.
[SPEAKER_01]: They take a bunch of ships from outside of the system.
[SPEAKER_01]: face them, turn on their engines, and then turn their engines off once they've got momentum, and then put the whole ships and stasis.
[SPEAKER_01]: So for one year, these ships just drift through the darkness of space.
[SPEAKER_01]: And remember, the space is big.
[SPEAKER_01]: You're not going to be able to see even a cruiser.
[SPEAKER_01]: You will not see it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so they eventually drift in.
[SPEAKER_01]: Once they get within close to Pluto, they turn the ships on and begin their attack.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they attack all the satellites.
[SPEAKER_01]: The goal that the Alpha Legion had was too full.
[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't actually to destroy them.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was to disrupt it because there was communication on Pluto and all this stuff.
[SPEAKER_01]: Alpharius himself is leading the troops on this invasion.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they pretty quickly overwhelmed the defenders.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn knows that Pluto's
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's not critical to the defensive soul, but it can't go down this quickly.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this is again why I like the stories of Dorn.
[SPEAKER_01]: His problem is that he's sitting on the phalanx, which is basically orbiting Terra.
[SPEAKER_00]: And yes, and that Dorn says, I live my life a quarter mile in a time.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, and decides to fling shot himself using, yeah, there's a two here.
[SPEAKER_01]: You have to hear a fast and fear.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: of the failanks, which is effectively a movement.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he uses gravity wells and slingshot himself across the galaxy, basically arriving in like an hour and a half from a distance that I think was two point six, six billion miles.
[SPEAKER_01]: He does in like, I don't know, forty five seconds, lands and then immediately teleports himself down into the heart of the battle.
[SPEAKER_01]: where Alpharius is kind of going to town on some of his own legion that are there.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn sees Alpharius.
[SPEAKER_01]: Alpharius sees Dorn.
[SPEAKER_00]: Back it up just a second.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not like they instantly started to fight.
[SPEAKER_00]: Dorn comes down with his honor guard and puts a epic ass kicking on everybody with it.
[SPEAKER_00]: A hundred yards of it.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's just.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, they took zero casualties and we're just throwing guys in the wood shipper.
[SPEAKER_00]: They were killing other guys so fast.
[SPEAKER_01]: But eventually, Doran comes upon alpharius and he does them.
[SPEAKER_01]: I do a reference to the ninety's here.
[SPEAKER_01]: He then reaches down to the boots of my de-ask kicking and does and gives him a little pump.
[SPEAKER_01]: Remember those shoes, Brad?
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, little pump and the two of them have what is somewhat of a protracted fight, but not much of a one.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn gets the upper hand because he is a much better fighter.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'm sorry, and he's much more emotionally invested in it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And my favorite, the way the story ends is, alpharious goes to stab, dorn with his spear, dorn grabs the spear with one hand, and with his other hand has his chainsawed and cuts off both of alpharious's hands.
[SPEAKER_01]: Then take said spear, shove the spear into alpharious,
[SPEAKER_01]: and then take said chain sorting, cleaves it through his skull.
[SPEAKER_01]: Alfarious is dead.
[SPEAKER_01]: The gun actually can sense the death of his brother, but it starts finding his own McGon somewhere else and then gets a note from Horus saying, hey, I want to talk to Alfarious, no, McGon just goes, all right, here I go and wanders off, but that's not the end of the dorn fight.
[SPEAKER_01]: The next one's even creepier to me.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because Eribus pulls off this dark ritual and allows all the four the trader forces to jump the galaxy and land in Luna.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn sensing that the moon's going to fail launches the phalanx over there.
[SPEAKER_01]: But again, the traders have a trap.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this trap is they turned a remember and serenamed albaton into a warp gate or trying to a chaos gate.
[SPEAKER_01]: And albaton is on the phalanx when this happens.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think as a gamer of corn, you're a demon of corn, I'm not a hundred percent.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's a greater demon of emotions.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: When I look him up, the models I see is red, so I assume he's corn.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's that.
[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, because there's a warp gate there, all the demons are immortal, including Samus.
[SPEAKER_01]: So every time you kill Samus, he gets back up.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn didn't seem to care about that, and decided to keep killing Samus over and over and over again.
[SPEAKER_01]: I get greater demon, Primark.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's just thunder don't ever want to hear.
[SPEAKER_01]: Luckily, another fist sacrifices himself to close the gate, a which point Dorn kills Samus for good.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Dorn still not done, because now he has to go down to the walls of terror.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he does spend most of the battle on the siege of Tara, like organizing it.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's the one sitting at the giant board, moving the pieces around, telling people where to go, telling Jagatai Khan over and over again, just stand on the stupid wall, don't leave the stupid wall, and Jagatai Khan going, I heard you, Rev Rev Rev Engine leave wall.
[SPEAKER_01]: Couple key parts that are very funny.
[SPEAKER_01]: One is, and I think, again, my opinion, Dorn did this on purpose.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn knew Petaraba would be part of the siege, and he knew Petaraba was convinced that Dorn's not as smart and great as everyone makes him out to be.
[SPEAKER_01]: So what Dorn does is he builds below the Saturnine gate, a small kind of crack in the foundation, that if you blew up would bring the entire gate down.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was probably no bigger than a water rat.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: Peter Robo takes this bait and does a full-scale assault on the Saturnine gate while teleporting down a secret group including Abadon to go in and take advantage of the obvious flaw that Dorn would have left there because Dorn's an idiot.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn's not an idiot, Nathaniel Garrow and Garrow look, we're waiting there.
[SPEAKER_00]: Look at Indarrow, we're sitting there with a platoon of Marines.
[SPEAKER_01]: And just slaughtered them.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so they all land and they get absolutely wrecked to which Pettarabba realizes he just fell for a trap from Dorn.
[SPEAKER_01]: This was, as we covered in the last cast or two casts ago, this is the same time, this is one that Philgrams also fighting.
[SPEAKER_01]: So as Dorn is doing this and just kind of basically laughing at Pettarabba's failure,
[SPEAKER_01]: Fogrum arrives and is at the Saturn I gave and Fogrum ends up fighting Sigismund and Dorn kind of loves Sigismund and runs over there and these two now have a battle.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn, regular primar, versus phlegrum, he's not in serpent form, but still demons.
[SPEAKER_01]: He said he said human form.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's in human form, but he's still there.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it says, I mean, the difference is phlegrum is instant healing.
[SPEAKER_01]: Every wound, Dorn puts on him.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn doesn't have that ability, but that's okay, because phlegrum's not wounding him.
[SPEAKER_00]: I was going to say, well, you know, Dord also fights sword and board.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's the ultimate tank.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's true.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, he's using, he put, he was popping all his cool downs.
[SPEAKER_00]: He was just taking no damage here.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was a really tallity of a fight.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, the biggest thing we didn't talk about it a lot in the Fulgram cast is the entire time.
[SPEAKER_00]: Dorn isn't just talking shit.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's literally reciting the imperial code to him.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Wow, they're fun.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're fun.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they're awesome.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, this is great.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's also a quick side.
[SPEAKER_01]: One that I'd also like is during at some point during the battle here, and we'll cover this more when we do the world leaders.
[SPEAKER_01]: Karn gets into a fight with Sigisman and the two of them are having it and Karn almost gets the better of Sigisman until Dorn arrives during literally back hands.
[SPEAKER_01]: in to another dimension.
[SPEAKER_01]: He hits him so hard that he actually flies across and hits a wall and is lying there dying as to be recovered by his own legion.
[SPEAKER_01]: Just a little extra dorn with one hand.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, again, that's just a space marina at a fight, but when we say dorn can fight, dorn can fight.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, obviously, the Emperor teleports onto the eventual spirit, Dorn goes to, everyone goes to.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this story in the book is really long and not actually, it's kind of boring AF if I'm being honest, but a couple key little bits of it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn gets teleported into a pocket dimension of just an endless desert, and he walks for what's described as centuries.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he's also a red cat, by the way.
[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
[SPEAKER_01]: I like the original more, but that's fine.
[SPEAKER_01]: What I the only part of the story that I thought was funny is that Gorn is in this dimension with him and Gorn basically takes all of his memories out of him and just to try and bring him down to being nothing and Gorn just won't stop talking to him.
[SPEAKER_01]: And but Gorn just uncorruptable.
[SPEAKER_01]: Gorn gets bored.
[SPEAKER_01]: and just gives up on it and eventually, Dorn's able to escape at which point he finds Cousine Valdor in the Custodes who are fighting Abadon.
[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, guess what happens is that, I don't know.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn's there.
[SPEAKER_01]: Abadon gets his butt kicked.
[SPEAKER_01]: They rush in, but unfortunately, during they all arrive just in time for the emperor to kill Horace, but collapse.
[SPEAKER_01]: The story I like about this is that, as we get to the end of this cast, the salt and soul was three months long.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's how long it took from the first arrival in Pluto all the way there.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dorn in those three months fights, kills a primarke, fights and kills a greater demon, organizes all the defenses, fights another primarke.
[SPEAKER_01]: He actually never slept or took a break in that entire time.
[SPEAKER_01]: So at the end of this whole thing, the emperor, he's there as the emperor is loading the golden throne, Dorn kind of collapses.
[SPEAKER_01]: Not like he's going to die collapses, but he just sits down for the first time and has to figure out what is what's now what comes next.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's where we're going to break here because that's what we're going to get into in our next cast is the Imperial Fists after the Horace Heresy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Some of the focus on one of their successor chapters, spoiler guys, it's a crimson vest, because we're going to give the black Templar their own cast, just coming shortly after that.
