One of my former teammates and my brother, CP three, announced his retirement last week. What do you think about his legacy? Twelve time All Star, nine time All NBA Defensive Team Rookie of the Year. Definitely a top seventy five guy, someone that Kobe spoke very highly. Kobe spoke very highly. I was on the Laker team when he was trying to recruit Chris and it was all but a done deal till they asked it. They both have fun memories of each other playing on the All Star team together. I mean, Chris is someone an acquired taste. I think Chris gets a bad rap because Max, he could have played in your ear from a standard I was going to tell you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear. He's hard to know. He's tough to guard one through four if the four is small enough, but one of the toughest soldiers I ever went to. When you think Chris Paul, what do you think of First.

Point Guards are different these days, are there? Their score first type guys. Not that they can't dish, but they're more score first type guys. But again, the one thing I think bothered me about all this was the way he went out with the Clippers that really bothered me. You know, arguably one of their best players, if not their best player in franchise history. He announces it's a failware tour. You know what you're getting when you have him. I mean TLU was the assistant coach for Doc when when when we were there with the Lob City team, so you already know what And like I said, Chris is going to tell you how it is how you want to hear it. And I think that probably rubbed some people the wrong way because he wasn't able to produce the way he produced in the past when he said what he said. But I'm sure he wasn't wrong, you know, So for him to for him to go out, for the Clippers to do him the way they did him really bothered me. Uh And to be honest with you, I think I've only worked one game since then. I've had to cancel. But I don't think I'll be I don't think I'm gonna be going back, to be honest with you, mass because I just think that shit is fucked up. That's what I mean. You're playing with somebody's legacy, You're playing with something they did. They didn't like super dirty when they signed Blake to a big ass contract and then they trade him to Detroit. I mean, you do your you know, you do your your your franchised, you know, possibly two of the greatest players that your organization has ever had. You do him dirty. It's just that shit rubs people the wrong way. And obviously it could be water under the bridge of some people, and the team had played good since he had moved on, But you know, you don't forget bullshit like that, and it's just disappointing that CP didn't get to go out the way he deserved should go out arguably a top five point. We'll get into that debate another day, but CP was one of them. Yes, and congratulations on a great, long, prosperous career. Never got that championship, but one of the greatest players have never win a championship. And now, like I told his son, it's on a little CP now, so he gets to sit back and get some time with the family and coach your son. And don't be surprised if this is not a high school basketball coach. For me, don't be surprised if he's not coaching the Sun next year. Winter Olympics just wrapped. Twenty twenty eight, are the LA Olympics. Now it's time to start thinking about the USA basketball team. Someone on ESPN came out and put a twelve man roster together, And I don't really take their rankings or anything they say too serious because it's not necessarily people that have a background in the game. They just have an opinion. And I think we all have opinions, but I prefer to listen to my opinions from people who've done it. This is going to be interesting because there's two guys that still come to mind. Most likely Lebron to be done. He'll be damn what forty five forty six, He'll be on some Oscar Schmidt shit if he came back. But Katie and Steph will both be right around thirty nine years old. And I think KD came out and said, like he wants his plot paraphrasing, he wants his play to do the talking. He doesn't want to honorary O g Spot. He wants his play to be able to solidify why he's on that team. I think Steph would be in that same boat. I think if they're both healthy, I think they both get a chance to make one more run. This would be Katie's fifth Olympics, going to his fifth gold medal, which no one has done on the basketball side, So that'd be amazing. So we'll have to see again. They'll both be thirty nine in twenty twenty eight. But I think the way they take care of bodies, barring any serious injury, they both should and could be on that team. So I'm gonna name a handful of guys that we got to pick twelve of them. Actually, this is what the is this the ESPN one. So I'm gonna give you what the ESPN guy their first cam. Write these down so you can have a little reference for him. So they picked Cooper Flagg, kN Kin Nipple, Anthony Edwards, Tyrese Haliburton, Jalen Duran, Amen Thompson, Chet Holmgren, Bam out of Bayo, Scottie Barnes, Kate Cunningham, Jalen Williams, Jason Tatum. So from this list, and I'll and and I'll go first. I think in that first row, I think Cooper Flag and Anthony Edwards make it. I think in that second row it'll be interesting because I think the three biggs will be Jalen, Duran, chet Holmgrin and Bam out of Bio to be interesting to see if all three of them get in. But I think those are our bigs because you know, traditionally, who's the big they're gonna have to deal with? Uh, only Jokich is the real strong big they're not to deal with, right because Wimby's a big who But Wimby's not. I'm talking about big guys. So I'm just sometimes like, none of the Duran and and and and and Chet and Bam they're not they're not lighting ass, but they're not traditional centers. They're they're bigs, but they're not traditional centers. In I think the only big they're gonna really have to deal with is Jokic. Obviously, Giannis will be out there and and and Wimby will be out there. But they're more skilled, bigger, stronger, you know, biggs than traditional. I don't think people respect how much Devin Booker sacrificed in the last Olympics where they gave him a role to go out there and play, and he played that shit to a team, and I think it made him a better player, because we know his ability to put the ball in the basket, but he took a huge step back. It was one of the ultimate glue guys with his skill set. Was was really impressive to me. So it's going to be interesting to see. I mean, obviously a ton of talent. You know, this new generation is coming in loaded. I mean we're seeing the last and I hope people appreciate the last of you know, hopefully we get Stephan kd for another two three years. You know, we probably get Lebron for one more year. Like this new generation is filled with talent and skill. I mean, we didn't even mention Evan Mobley. Who's who's someone I really like who I think at some point one Olympic team. But I think the US team is in really good hands. But I do think it'll be good to have those og vets for this one last run to teach this next generation what it's going to be like moving forward before they completely hand the keys over.

I saw both this kids play and they competed, picked up full court and where dogs on both sides of the ball. So that that won me over outside of their skill set, and you know what Cooper's been doing in the league, and aj leading college basketball and scoring. Moving on to another college guy who has drawing some attention, Darren Peterson strange season, you know, reporting hamstring issues, some cramping issues. He has times to that he flashes greatness of some of the greatest players we've ever seen. He embodies that at times. I'm interesting to see what he does in the tournament. But if you look at his numbers, he's that twenty seven minutes a game, and I think we selfishly want to see more because he is such a great player. We want to see what is what are what are college games? Thirty two minutes a game? For forty minutes a game, so a little bit over half the game, I think people want to see more. But at the same time, it's twenty points a game, it's forty seven from the field in forty from three. He's played in seventeen games, he's missed how many ten or eleven.

So on the flip side, where we're seeing AJ play every game, and he's leading college basketball and scoring and it's you know, he is the leader of his team and every night you can count on him. You don't see that from Peterson. When he's out there, he's the absolute man. But you'll see him hit shots and take himself out. I don't know if that's his agent. I don't know if that's his family. I don't know if that's his manager. But Max, this could be and I hate to say this, this could be the new load management of top college players. Only he's the only one doing it, because if you look at all, this is a loaded freshman class, and everyone else is playing every single game as many minutes as it can and having great seasons. This guy is still having a really good season, but he's on load management. So what are your thoughts when you see someone with that much talent not necessarily just go out there and enjoy his college experience. We know he's only going to be there for a year. What do you think when you see him miss ten or eleven games. Some of them maybe are for for for real reasons, but for the most part, kind of minute restrictioning himself and kind of unload management while you're in college.

I was with someone in the front office, an assistant coach, and a commentator yesterday at this golf tournament, and they were saying that front offices are concerned about this. This is something they're concerned about. Again, So to your point, the ability if you can't get through you know this many college games, how are you going to make it to the next level or just his and you know, one of the does he really love the game? And again we don't want to we don't want to speak for him because we don't know what's going on. I think this is more business of the game and his potential earning. So again I understand that, but college is supposed to be go out there and do your thing man half period, half fun. So again, having a really solid season, really excited to see what he does in the tournament. You know, they just beat Houston last night, right, they just beat you know the number two teams, Houston three. Oh, Houston's five. So you know, to beat a tough Houston team last night. And obviously he played really well. So you know, when he's on the floor, there's not a question of his talent. The question is just is he going to be on the floor.

You got Russell Westbrook playing his ass off, withering away over there. I don't know what it's going to take to bring light to this fan base that definitely deserves it. That's one of the greatest fan bases in the league. And the product they continue to put out is nasty. I think they're doing a really good job because I think they have some really good piece. I think they're doing a really good job of tanking. Yes, they're eighteen and forty right now, and they know that kid that's going to b YU if they're able to land him. And the NBA has had a funny way of landing Brown and Cleveland and Kyrie and Cleveland and Dereck Rose Chicago and They've had a funny way of blessing teams at times. But I love the direction of this new ownership. They got a lot of good young talent in pieces. Uh, this is going to be a very loaded draft. I think the Utah Jazz are on their way up.
