You've been following the tournament for a number of weeks. It all comes down to this. Kentucky and Western decide who gets to be the BBN tonight at the BBN Invitational. But the game is at six thirty. It is on the SEC network. It's a little earlier than usual. It's at six thirty and that is tonight tomorrow. By the way, we were supposed to be in Glasgow, but that's now gotten changed. We will be in studio in Lexington's and we will not be in Glasgow. We will make that up and we will go at some point, probably in December to Glasgow, but we will be here tomorrow. I've got Ryan, I got Shannon, got Drew. Guys. We have a couple here. I just met. How long have you guys been married? Thirty seven years. They're from Marshall County, Kentucky. They're in They're going to the Kentucky game tonight against Western, first UK basketball game for both of them. They said it was a bucket list night tonight against Western. How neat is that great? 00:02:10 Speaker 2: We love seeing people like that that come in. You're doing it right, come to the show first, go to the game tonight. They know our friend Harold rest in peace. They knew him from down to Marshall County. 00:02:18 Speaker 4: How about that thirty seven years and they're getting to come see Kentucky and Western tonight. Had to be there for the finals of the BBN Invitation. Well, you all knew that you couldn't miss that, that historic tournament. So that's neat. I hope you guys have a fun evening tonight in your first trip. It's very cool. 00:02:34 Speaker 5: I'm sure they will have a fun evening and talk to them movie. It sounds like all of us have a perfect bracket and the BBN invitation. 00:02:39 Speaker 4: So far, so far we all had. By the way, Jackson State and Lipskin are playing tonight for third place. Oh they are. They're playing so for those of you they also care about your consolation games in the BBN tournament. They're playing for third place tonight. 00:02:54 Speaker 2: I almost wish it was a reparena have a double header. 00:02:56 Speaker 4: I don't I feel like they're good. I feel like wherever they're playing it's a good place for them to be Tonight, you know, I'm alright with that. 00:03:03 Speaker 5: The women are in the Music City Classic at what's that Treveca Nazarene. 00:03:08 Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah, So the women play tonight at four point thirty. So for those of you that come to Ksbar for the pregame, we'll have the women's game on the computer on our screens during the pregame show. They play somebody Arizona State, and then they'll play tomorrow against Illinois at eight o'clock. So back to back Thanksgiving Women's streat. 00:03:32 Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't realize the women are playing back to back days here Tuesday in. 00:03:35 Speaker 4: Nashville in Nashville, both those games. At some point we'll talk about the whole holiday tournament thing is changing, Like enjoy the Maui Invitational and the Bahamas Tournament this year. While they're going to exist, it's all going to be existing in a different form. The days of eight teams going to one place and playing three games, I think are about to well, you're gonna see a lot of tournaments like the women's team is playing in right now, where they take they go to a neutral site, play two games, and then the third game of the tournament is just on your home floor. Guarantees you a game at your home and then you play two games somewhere else. So, for instance, Duke is playing Kansas in Vegas tonight, then they're playing somebody else like Saint Louis or something in the next game, and then one of the games is at Cameron Indoor Stadium. The whole tournament is set up just to have Duke play Kansas. I think that's what you're gonna start to see. Probably us as well. We'll play in a four team tournament that basically is set up for you to play a marquee game on a neutral floor and then the other games drew on your home court. 00:04:46 Speaker 5: Now we're kind of doing that. 00:04:47 Speaker 4: Now without the marque game, we still have the marquee game in these tournaments, these small round robins. I think that's not as good as the Male Invitational, but it's better than the BBN Invitational. It's almost like a middle ground. But but the like if you look at the Male Invitational field next year, much worse than the field this year. 00:05:05 Speaker 5: And this year they have a heck of a field. 00:05:07 Speaker 4: They they have Yukon, North Carolina, Michigan State Auburn and Iowa State. That's a heck of a field. Next year, the field doesn't look like that. 00:05:17 Speaker 5: I watched all those games yesterday, just a full SI basketball on the Bratt ground I was doing, and they were that was some great bareat games. 00:05:23 Speaker 4: So I want to talk about those games in a minute. I don't want to go into them yet, but let's I think we we we should start with the what what is the biggest news in Big Blue Nation? And that is that we're leaving on our trip on on Sunday. 00:05:36 Speaker 2: Five days. 00:05:38 Speaker 4: Yeah, so we leave Sunday. So first of all, we're gonna be doing my ESPN pregame show in Cincinnati at Jefferson Social, which I guess is there on the streets on the banks, right. Do you know that place? 00:05:51 Speaker 5: I'm familiar. I know the banks a little bit and I know the area, but not familiar that specific. 00:05:54 Speaker 4: So it's like right across from ten Roof. Apparently ESPN picked it. It's called Jefferson Social. So my first request is those of you in the northern Kentucky Cincinnati area, come say hi to us, even if it's just for a few minutes on your way to the Bengals. Game, just like walking through town. Come say hi, meet Myron, show my ESPN boss that someone does like us in Kentucky. You know that would be nice, right, that would be very nice. Come see us. It'll be open. I'm sure there'll be people there for the game for the game, but we will be there. That's from ten to one. You are gonna be there as well, because you're gonna drive up with me in the morning. You can hang out there. You all don't drink too much because we have a long dread drive ahead of us. I'm looking at you, Ryan, don't look at me. What do you mean? You're always the one that drinks too much in the same middle of the day. It's that, Shannon. I don't know that I have the same memory of that, do you. 00:06:47 Speaker 5: I don't know. 00:06:48 Speaker 2: You never know what Ryan's gonna do. 00:06:49 Speaker 4: Yea. So, but then we will get in the car as soon as it's over take off, likely headed to Iowa City. Are you ready ready? 00:06:59 Speaker 6: So? 00:06:59 Speaker 2: What are we do for the three hours? Then while you're doing your show? If we can't drink where he's gonna sit. 00:07:03 Speaker 4: I mean you can drink, but you just can't. I don't want you in my car at one o'clock drunk. I know the look on your face. I know exactly what happened. 00:07:10 Speaker 3: Make sure you get all your bathroom breaks out of the way between here and iowas. 00:07:15 Speaker 4: I have something to say about that for a minute, because I you know, one of the things I don't like, Drew is when we talk about this trip, what does this goober always say, Mats drink when Matt drinks, pee when Matt wants to pee. I hate that. Yeah, first of all, it's not true. 00:07:28 Speaker 5: It is very true. Secondly, I don't like that he says. 00:07:30 Speaker 4: So I'm going on record with something, okay, because I'm tired that we have the same conversation everywhere we go, because you all say Matt always picks the meals, but then when I let you all pick the meals, nobody's ever able to pick one, and we just sit there and then I have to pick one for some one to go. So we're gonna put assignments on it, okay, all right, everybody's gonna have a sign where the meals are rotating. Okay, so what about peace stops that's not rotating. You're just gonna have to have to work. 00:07:57 Speaker 3: It's all about it's all about gas. 00:08:01 Speaker 4: We stop when when there's gas. 00:08:03 Speaker 2: We do have a good system about gas. 00:08:05 Speaker 4: We take turns. Yes, we're gonna do the same thing with meals. So when we get somewhere, it will go buy alphabetic order. This is a Drew meal. Okay, this is a map meal. This is a Mario meal, This is a rye, this is a Shaanon mill. Got it? Got it? And it will be up to you in the town we go in. There's one rule. You're not taking me to a chain restaurant. 00:08:29 Speaker 5: We do not drive to Denver and go to O. 00:08:32 Speaker 4: Charlie's. 00:08:33 Speaker 5: How about no, well, Fazzolei's. I'll do for you because it's. 00:08:37 Speaker 4: You're obsessive about it. But we're not doing chain meals. 00:08:40 Speaker 5: Drew, can you agree with me a big on this rule too? Why would I go to a place that I'll never see again and eat food I can get anywhere? 00:08:46 Speaker 4: Yes, get don't? What do you always want to go to Wendy's when we're in Albuquerque and it's like they have other things? So when we pick a town, you will be able to pick the place, but you can't pick a chain rest. 00:09:00 Speaker 2: Got you? 00:09:01 Speaker 4: So that way, I don't have to listen to all that we like, We're gonna enjoy our trip with with with. 00:09:08 Speaker 5: That cavea no Hooters either, or maybe one Hooters. 00:09:12 Speaker 4: I'll give you a one Hooters a week. I'll give you a one Hooters a week. But you don't get a Hooters and a twin Peaks. You get one of them. You get one of those establishments. That's it. 00:09:26 Speaker 2: So don't give me Platts South Dakota. I don't think there's a Hooter. 00:09:29 Speaker 4: No, it just goes rotation. So Drew Drew, I just we're gonna do it alphabetically, So Drew will get the first one wherever we are somewhere, and then I guess it's Drew, then Mario, Matt, Ryan, Shannon, and then we flip it around and go again. 00:09:42 Speaker 5: So basically, I won't pick till we get to Wyoming. So are you? 00:09:46 Speaker 4: And that's just the guys are ready to eat green Bucket. Blame your parents on putting you Do you like that? 00:09:54 Speaker 2: Says you know there. In years past, we've also played the elimination game when it comes to restaurants. I've even now incorporated that into my. 00:10:01 Speaker 4: The elimination game's a very good game, except you always end up at Long John Silver's. That's the only problem with the eliminate for those of you. This is a good game for those of you in your lives. Okay, let's say you have five of you and you want to go to a restaurant. Oh, where do we go? Each person picks a restaurant, then you pick just a common one. So now you have six restaurants, five people. Everybody gets to eliminate one. Whichever's left is where you go. So you usually don't get anybody's favorite, but then Drew, you don't also don't get one that everybody hates. 00:10:30 Speaker 5: That's how we ended up out back in Wisconsinace. None of us wanted out back. 00:10:35 Speaker 4: The conversation, and then we ended up crying there. Yeah, we ended up crying at the outback and it gave us a great memory, didn't it. It did no regrets. So so there's the game, uh for our trip. 00:10:45 Speaker 2: I mean, we're five days away. It is really snuck up on me really fast. 00:10:50 Speaker 4: It's where it's coming. I mean, it's we're gonna leave Sunday. And the question is are we going to be leaving coming off a Louisville victory or a loss? Mark Stoops yesterday said he's starting Cutter Bowlie. 00:11:04 Speaker 5: I uh was. 00:11:06 Speaker 4: A little surprised, but not shocked. I've also heard some news that I'm gonna wait until after the Kentucky Louisville game to talk about just because you know there's a few days left. But when you hear that news, I think you're also gonna understand maybe a little more of why Cutter Bowley is is gonna start. I do think Brock is the backup if they if they need it for any reason, They're going with Cutter Bowley. First of all, do we like the decision? 00:11:34 Speaker 2: Well, I think it's speaks volumes of where they're going for the future. I mean, you don't start that, you don't start cutting less. You think, okay, he is our quarterback of the future. And I think you they understand too. This couldn't mean we're gonna we're gonna lose Brock. I think if you're looking at just the game this last week, Cutter made decisions faster, got the ball of his hands faster. I think, do you think. 00:11:55 Speaker 4: He gives drew them the best chance to win the game? 00:11:58 Speaker 5: I do. I think I just think he's looked a little better his stats are pretty oppressive even a small sample size. And then I just think it with the team looking the way it has for Song, maybe it gives him new life and they rally around him. Maybe some of the younger guys step up because they want to perform a little better for him. I just think kind of announcing and then injecting a little energy in the locker room will give him the best fight in this last game. 00:12:18 Speaker 4: So we're gonna take cutter Bowley. It's gonna be exciting for the future, right. I mean, this is a Kentucky kid. He gets his first real start against Louisville. I mean that's like, you know, you can't ask for a better situation if you're a kid from Kentucky, then get to start your first game against Louisville. I think there's a lot on the line. I'm gonna tell you. I sort of went back and forth in my head. There's one thing. I got a lot of information yesterday. A lot of people decided to info dump on me yesterday. So with an info dump, you have to decide in your final dump whether or not it makes sense to dump before the final game, because you don't want to add distraction. True and this happens every year. By the way, this is not unique. This is the calm before the storm that hits Saturday, and sometimes you get some pre calm wins, or you know, you get some pre storm wins a couple of things. I just feel like it won't doesn't help the situation for me to say before the game, so I'm gonna wait. One thing I think won't have an effect one way or the other on the game. Is sort of the conversation that is kind of rallying around around Stoops. You know, I think there's been this kind of like krimlinologist view at UK of people trying to think about what does Mark Stoops think, right, because he's a guy who's been very open in most of his career and he just hasn't been this year, and there are people that are very close to him that really had no idea what he was thinking about the future. A few weeks ago, those folks started turn turning to the view of I don't know he's going to be here anymore, that like maybe this is just come in, do it in. I don't know what happened. I don't know if it's like stubbornness or if it's like he got rejuvenated. Maybe he during the off bye week went to Germany and got to like like Lebron does and came back. But now the assumption everybody's working with is that that dude's coming back, and that the sort of well he'll he'll get bought out, or maybe he'll, like the caller said, become a recruiter instead of like everyone at UK is under the assumption that he is going to return. I think a lot of things are getting situated like he's going to return. Now. They could go get their tail whip Saturday and that could all change. But where's a few weeks ago, the general thought was I don't know Matt, but I have a hard time seeing him return. Now I think the assumption is I don't know, but I feel like he's coming back. How does that make you feel? Going into this game? 00:15:02 Speaker 2: Makes me feel a little better, a little boy. There's some stability there that he's gonna do you want that? I'm steal in the boat. I want that. I wanted to come back, and I think you know with with Cutter and will Cox, we saw will WILLI wad Willie Rodriguez. There's a lot of good young talent that they've got already in camp there that they could build on. 00:15:20 Speaker 5: Just going off his comments, it's almost like there was a flip just in how he's presenting. 00:15:25 Speaker 4: I think it flipped during the Biwee. I don't know what happened, but I think it flipped during the Biwie. 00:15:30 Speaker 5: There was a lot of complaining. We all know about it, We've talked about it over and over. But now it's very detailed of what he's doing next. Even last night on his Colline show, he's getting very specific ause Susan Liwell, game means what he's doing on Sunday, who's. 00:15:41 Speaker 4: A meeting with, who's recruiting? 00:15:42 Speaker 5: It's he was giving out a very detailed plan of what the offseason look. That did not make it sound like a guy that has any intentions. 00:15:48 Speaker 4: Now, I mean, things can happen. They could lose by thirty, he could get a call about a job. I mean like things could happen. But I am now operating under the assumption that I think he's gonna It's kind of how it's been leaning. But then yesterday I think everyone at UK is operating like Mark Stoops as the coach next year. And then that leads to a whole and I think that's why Cutter Buwley start and Cutter Bowley's starting, because it's part of the process of Mark Stoops returning, and so I just think that's where everyone's mindset needs to be going into the game on Saturday. AF I'm nine twenty two eighty seven. Let me know what you think about that. We're gonna take a break. We'll talk UK Western and our trip out west. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. Welcome back Tucky Sports Radio. We'll be going to all these everywhere in the place, so so real quick in terms of explaining where shows are. The one we know that it's set is it's gonna be in Iowa City on Monday morning. Where it's gonna be, we'll let you know, all right, we're we we don't have a place. We might even just do it in a hotel lobby. It's not clear yet, but we will be in Iowa City. We also know we'll be in Seattle to do a pregame show. I've given you where I think will be along the way, But I'm starting to see reports of snow in some places, and so things might all that anywhere in the middle could get detoured. I feel good that we'll get to Iowa City and we have to get in Seattle, but everything in between will be a two be determined on the way. Now, Mario is gonna be filming stuff the whole way. I told I mean, this is this is the prime Marios. He's gonna film where we go. He's gonna do stuff, and so you're gonna get more more info than you've ever gotten on these trips. I'm gonna do what I used to do with periscope back in the day. I'm gonna do on my TikTok Matt Jones KSR, which you ought to follow if you don't follow it yet, uh, or on Instagram. I'm not doing it on Twitter. I can't. I cannot deal with any more post a video because the moment you post a video, you're just getting porn into comments. I mean, just be ready for it, and I can't do that. So it's gonna be either on Instagram or the TikTok, and then Mario will have videos that'll be on Twitter and everywhere else. 00:18:11 Speaker 5: I did wonder about any detouring when I saw a photo of Montana yesterday, it looked like Armigodon. 00:18:15 Speaker 4: Yeah, we're not gonna be able to go to Montana. I mean, any thoughts of going to Montana. I think the road was actually closed. I think they basically said Montana, you're not allowed to be here. So we're gonna have to go different ways. But I know, I'm fairly certain we can get to Iowa City. But even that first stop in South Dakota is now looking like I don't know, so we may have to go south instead of north, but just just will end up in Iowa City Sunday night that I feel good about. 00:18:39 Speaker 2: I've never been to Iowa City, so this will be a new experience for me. Yes, so, uh, people the place we've been in Iowa, I've never been to Iowa City. 00:18:46 Speaker 4: One person says, Matt, it's hard for me to get excited about another year of stoops. Help sell me on another year of soups. Great question, Ryan, sell them. 00:18:56 Speaker 5: You got it greatter than you. 00:18:57 Speaker 4: Sell Stockton Morge. 00:18:59 Speaker 2: You're you got a great quarterback who's gonna be Uh? You know I have three years left. You got a great running back? 00:19:05 Speaker 4: No, he's great. 00:19:06 Speaker 2: I think he's gonna be great. Okay, you got a really good run. You got two really good young running backs and will Cox and Patterson. Uh, you got Willie Watt. I can't say that today. Willie Rodriguez, I think he's proven that he can be really tough. You heard Stoops talk yesterday about they've already got some. They're in on a couple of big linemen both on what. 00:19:26 Speaker 4: Those four I mentioned didn't come back. Yeah, you're counting them here, you're counting them here. I think there's at least one that that's not certain about. 00:19:34 Speaker 2: I'm gonna go ahead and say they're back. 00:19:36 Speaker 5: So you're gonna put all four of them back. 00:19:38 Speaker 2: My job is to try to get this guy excited about it. 00:19:40 Speaker 4: I'm asking you, is that Scooper scuttle but scuttle butt okay? Because I do think there's one that they're gonna they're they're gonna have to convince. I'm not saying they can't, but there's there's at least one that is looking at other opportunities. 00:19:52 Speaker 2: Of those four, as far as some of their big name guys, you got to just assume that lot of those guys will not be here next year. 00:19:59 Speaker 4: So so who Dion's clearly gone? Dane Dane? So should we just assume Dane's gone. 00:20:07 Speaker 2: Well, I mean, if they're already saying he's a possible fourth round draft pick, I mean. 00:20:10 Speaker 4: Wouldn't you? But I didn't ask you, wouldn't I. I mean, I'm I'm saying you you are Scoop Scuttle. 00:20:16 Speaker 2: But I I'm just saying if that was a fourth round. 00:20:20 Speaker 4: Draft, that means he's gone. Right, it's like trying not to He's trying not to say anything. What about Burryon? 00:20:27 Speaker 2: It may be tough to keep him too, all right? 00:20:30 Speaker 4: So now so so now I feel like we're we This is one that I would trust you over anybody. You kind of feel like we should just assume no Dion, no Dane, no Barrion. 00:20:41 Speaker 2: Just I think you just assumed that at this point. 00:20:44 Speaker 5: Okay, no Max Harrison, Max senior day list. He's only a red shirt junior, So that kind of tells you that. 00:20:50 Speaker 4: Yeah, and then you have a bunch that are seniors. Is there anybody else that could come back that you feel like has talent? I mean, one of the four you mentioned, I think there's a chance he could. One of them could not come back. Is anybody else you know like that? 00:21:05 Speaker 5: No? 00:21:06 Speaker 2: Not the top of my head, No, Drew. 00:21:08 Speaker 5: I mean there's a lot of young pieces. I hope they're able to retain of the guys who've been seeing a lot, playing a lot of minutes. They have a lot to replace, I mean, a lot of the offensive line, a lot of the pass rush. You assume you're gonna lose some people to the portal. They're gonna have to go in and get a lot of positions of guys that need to contribute right away. 00:21:25 Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean they're gonna they're gonna have to eat the portal portal up. 00:21:28 Speaker 5: Are starting to get the lineman like they gotta do. But like Gerald Mincy was expensive, let's stop coaching. It sounds like bush Hampden's back. I mean he all but said that, right, So let's just assume that. Do you think Brad White is back? 00:21:40 Speaker 2: You know, there were schools going after him the last couple of years. Sooner or later, somebody's gonna lure him away. I don't know if it's to me this year or no, but people are still gonna be coming after him. 00:21:50 Speaker 4: If you were him and you wanted to ever make a move, wouldn't this speed the year to make it? Probably? 00:21:55 Speaker 2: Probably? Yeah, you know he eventually he wants to be a head coach. He make you get a head coaching opportunity somewhere. 00:22:01 Speaker 4: Yeah, I feel like I'm gonna I'm gonna work under the assumption he's not gonna be here. Not I hope he is here, but like I just kind of feel like, you know, if you're gonna have to replace your entire defense, if there were ever a time to do it, Drew, this would be it. 00:22:16 Speaker 5: And he's already turned down a lot. He that's a dude that genuinely loves Lexington. I don't know where his kids are in age, but that was a big part of why he's been here as long as he has. At some point he's gonna have to take one of those phone calls and go fund. 00:22:27 Speaker 4: Other position coaches. Do you do you just change the offensive line again? I mean, are you going? Are you gonna go back to year three of trying to make the wolf for thing work. 00:22:37 Speaker 5: He's pretty defensive of him. He even mentioned him last night what a good recruiter he is, So I think, who cares. I'm just I'm just telling you what the what the tea leaves. 00:22:45 Speaker 4: I mean, I could if you can for recruit and no one can block. What difference does it make? 00:22:49 Speaker 2: And there are those who argue our offensive line problem started when he was here two years ago because he didn't develop any depth then. 00:22:56 Speaker 4: So would you keep it? 00:22:57 Speaker 2: I don't know how he can. 00:22:59 Speaker 4: Yeah, I'll say this, Mark Stoops can't just run it back with the same group and think everybody's gonna be happy. True, he's gonna have to make some changes. We'll be right back. TJ. 00:23:11 Speaker 5: Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ. 00:23:14 Speaker 4: He'll make them pay. 00:23:15 Speaker 3: Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. 00:23:19 Speaker 5: Here's Matt Jones sweater back. Tucky Sports Radio. 00:23:22 Speaker 4: Got some folks here living live in tay Taylorsville. Now, got some folks here from New York, New York City. Queens. What do you know about queens? Uh? 00:23:32 Speaker 2: Well, won't you tell me about queens? 00:23:33 Speaker 4: But now you tell me. I'm more interested in You're you're kind of you're a worldly man. 00:23:38 Speaker 2: I'll say exactly what you just said, because I don't know anything else. The US Tennis opens there and you go definitely go to Flushing to watch the tennis tournament. 00:23:45 Speaker 4: Yeah, you got the US Tennis Open. You got LaGuardia. 00:23:48 Speaker 2: It's in Queens. 00:23:48 Speaker 4: Yeah, the Mets. The Mets are in Queens. Yeah, a lot of the lot of the hipsters moving to Queens now like it's become you know, uh, kind of one of the places to be right, you have to show a King of Queens. 00:24:01 Speaker 2: Well, in coming to America, Eddie Murphy found his wife in Queen's. 00:24:04 Speaker 4: Okay, that's that's good to know. I think that's what That's a good part of it. So, yeah, there's a lot of stuff in Queens, a lot of good restaurants. Queen's a big area. I mean like people won't talk about it as much, but it's a huge area. 00:24:16 Speaker 5: Yeah, let's not forget Vinnie Chase from Entourage or from Queens. 00:24:19 Speaker 4: Oh, that's right, he was, he was a king. 00:24:21 Speaker 5: Yeah, we've done many a Queen's trips. I bounced around Queens. 00:24:24 Speaker 4: He what was the movie he was in? He was gonna be an I am something Queens Boulevard, I am Queen's Bulvo, I am Queen's Boulevard. Well, there's a good memory from the from Montourage A five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. One person says, map, if we bring stoops back. I guess that means Kroger Field will be a ghost town next year. No, it won't. 00:24:44 Speaker 5: Disagree with that, No it won't. I don't believe that. 00:24:46 Speaker 4: But there are some people who've called and said, well, I may not renew my season tickets, and that might beat some people. But when the games start, people are coming. And then you look at that home schedule next year. You're not gonna come when Texas comes here for the first time ever, of course you are. You're not gonna come here for the Tennessee game. You're not gonna come here for the Florida game, You're not gonna come here for the Old Miss game. I just you're gonna be at the first game because people always go to the first game. So like, yeah, there might be one or two games that attendance is affected, but I don't ryan that's hard for me to believe the people aren't gonna be here. 00:25:19 Speaker 2: You know, this year was a disappointment, yes, but we just went We had a stretch. We went to eight straight Bowl games at Kentucky. You don't understand. The people don't realize we went years, eight years or more without ever going to a Bowl game and Stoops got us to eight bowl games in a row. So yeah, this season was a little disappointment, but I have confidence he can get us back to where we're going to a bowl game again. So yeah, those people are crazy. 00:25:42 Speaker 4: Wow, Okay, what you mean. 00:25:43 Speaker 5: He has a lot of work to do this offseason. But I agree people will be butting the seats. Season ticket numbers probably will go down. They had a record that a big year this year. They won't match that. But you won't want to watch Cutter Bowlie versus arch Manning and Lexington. 00:25:57 Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, arch Manning's coming to town and you don't want to see arts with Peyton and Eli. Yeah, come on day, you're gonna go. 00:26:06 Speaker 5: You're gonna go everybody. 00:26:07 Speaker 4: I mean, I agree there may be some people that don't renew season tickets. That takes an effort. I mean the Reds guy that calls has called me four times in the last three days. Like I mean, it takes an effort to pull the trigger when I see that bill and I go, do I want to do that again? But at the end of the day, you're coming because it's Kentucky. It's like it's a thing. 00:26:31 Speaker 2: Even when things were going south, Our fans still showed up out there at Crokerfield the first Day game last weekend. They were still a good crowd. 00:26:38 Speaker 5: Who's up next, Larry, Larry, Go ahead. 00:26:40 Speaker 6: Larry, Hey, Good morning guys, longtime listener. Who I'm calling. I want to say something that I want to ask you a question. It it's about football. You know, I'm really get I get tired of hearing you guys talking about that Stops is a great coach chick Kentucky, or he's not even a good coach of Kentucky. Okay, let's compare. 00:27:03 Speaker 4: Let's comparing historically to the other kinoach Kentucky coaches. 00:27:06 Speaker 6: Which one that's easy. 00:27:09 Speaker 7: We're playing twelve games seconds. 00:27:12 Speaker 4: Which ones of the coaches at Kentucky historically do you think have been better than Stoops? 00:27:18 Speaker 6: Well, it doesn't make no difference if if none of them were. Stoops is not that good of a coach. 00:27:24 Speaker 4: Okay, record, that's not the sentence you said. The sentence you said is that you were tired of hearing us saying he was a great coach at Kentucky. If you're if I signed to you outside of Bear Bryant, outside of Bear Bryant, who coach who finished coaching here in nineteen fifty three, before we even had black players in the SEC. Tell me a coach who's done better at Kentucky than him without cheating. 00:27:53 Speaker 6: Well, I think Frank Cursey was a good coach and Jerry was a coach. 00:27:57 Speaker 5: Who cheated player record significantly. 00:28:00 Speaker 6: And I like this, I'm not you're comparing mediocre coaches and you're calling him a great coach. But you can't say he's a great coach. You can if you just want to say at Kentucky, but it's it's not. He's got a losing record at Kentucky. He's got a losing record. 00:28:15 Speaker 4: In both answer has always been the same thing. He is a great coach for Kentucky. Now, is he a great coach historically? No? But I would say to you it is very hard for Kentucky historically to get a great coach because we haven't had one. 00:28:35 Speaker 6: But we got to keep trying. I mean, he's never played in a conference championship game since he's been there, and how many. 00:28:41 Speaker 4: Conference championship games has Kentucky played in in their history? 00:28:46 Speaker 6: But is that global of all times you? Because we've never done it, we can never do it in the camp. 00:28:50 Speaker 4: You can say we could never do it. But I think if you spend your life determining the success of our coaches by asking them to do things that have never been done here, and if they don't do it, they're a failure, we will just be rotating failures of coaches from now on. 00:29:08 Speaker 6: Well maybe that's true. Maybe we're like everybody in sec When we don't win, we replace a coach and we keep doing it till we find something successful. The ninth highest paid coach in the country, you can't tell me that the two hundred coaches behind him aren't as good money. 00:29:26 Speaker 4: But I appreciate the call. Is Mark Stoops the ninth best quation in America? I'm is Mark Soups the ninth best coach in America? No, but that's not the question. The question was, would you, again, at the moment that contract was given, would you rather him have walked away or not? It's a very simple question. I mean, theoretically, the Mark Stoops debate is a good theoretical debate. Is he of the level we want at Kentucky? And I have mixed emotions about that, But I I like to live in the real world. Okay, I don't like to live in the fantasy world of is he the ninth best? The question is, when that contract was offered to him, would you have not given it to him and let him walk? 00:30:14 Speaker 5: And you would have? 00:30:16 Speaker 2: I would not have let him walk? Ought to get in the contract. 00:30:20 Speaker 4: So no, you would not have let him walk? Correct? You said? Yes? 00:30:25 Speaker 2: Fat the first question I heard, what would you give him that contract? 00:30:28 Speaker 5: Yes? 00:30:29 Speaker 4: No, that's not what I said. I said, wouldn't you Would you have not given him that contract and let him walk? No? Thank you? 00:30:36 Speaker 5: Nosed You couldn't have. 00:30:41 Speaker 4: You couldn't have let him, coming out only the second tenth win season in forty years, let him walk off the door? No, you kill You couldn't have. And if you say you could have, that's fine, but you might not be the a d here anymore if you did that, So Drew, I just do I think Mark still? Let me put it like this, This is a harsh statement, whether you whether you agree with it or not. Do I think Mark Stoops is the best person in America to lead us into this new Nile generation? No? I don't, actually, which makes me worried. But do I think Kentucky can get rid of him under these circumstances. No, so I need it to work out as it is. 00:31:24 Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm kind of in the same boat with you, and I think about the Stoops that was doing so well for a few years and how different things have been. And I think we're all concerned when we're here to talking about fundraising and things. But I also think, I mean, there has been a decline for two three years, but this has been the one bad year. We can say this has not been a good year, and I feel like he's at least owed one shot to pull himself out of it. I would slightly disagree with this. 00:31:48 Speaker 4: I don't think he's owed anything except that contract too. But I mean, but I would say, I need, I need him to grow up and stop whining and complaining and be the Mark Stoops he was the last eight years. 00:32:06 Speaker 5: I need. 00:32:06 Speaker 4: I need him to stop whining about nil, stop whining that he has to spend too much money to fundraising. I have no sympathy for him when it comes to having a fundraise. Dude, you are the ninth ties paid coach in the country. So I have mixed emotions. I think fans that want him gone are living in a fantasy world. They're living in a fantasy world where you can just snap your fingers and draw forty four million dollars and pay a guy. But I also think that Mark Stoops needs to look in the mirror and do what he asked his players to do, which is grow up and stop complaining and work hard. That's what I need. And to his credit, his wording has changed in the last two or three weeks. But the whiny dude from the first eight months of eight weeks of the year, I was over that because that's not what he was for a long time when we were winning. 00:32:58 Speaker 5: It's let's go knock down a door. What do I need to do to punch up? And yes, see, what do I need to do to do this? We haven't heard that Stoop since these things are totally agree And the point I was trying to make is if the Stoops that's gonna get another run. We need more of that fire that we had a little bit before all these changes. Whether he likes it or. 00:33:12 Speaker 4: Not, it's a I mean, it is a fantasy world. To act like we can get rid of it, we can't. He'll have to do it himself or there'll have to be a buyo. And I don't even know that UK has the money to give him a buyo. UK is broker right now. Then they'll be they'll be fine in a year or two. But there's this year they're gonna have to pay. Every school in America is in a weird situation. They're gonna have to pay this settlement out that's going to cost I don't even know how much of school. Forty million dollars of school. That money has to exist. They've got to now plan to give players twenty million dollars a year over the next few years. This is a moment where there just ain't nobody's flushed with cash today. Give it a few years, it'll be different than sec TV contract just started. Give him a minute, but this is not the year to come asking for a. 00:34:07 Speaker 2: Bile, right, No, not at all. And you mentioned, like he said, kind of whining about raising money. That's something I think he's been really, really good at. He's been able to get these guys to invest in football that have never invested in football ever before until you got here. 00:34:19 Speaker 4: One quote I really like about uh One quote quote I really liked that Mark Stoops has made over the years or excuse me that John cal Perry made There's no Crying on the Yacht. Yeah, he used to say that all the time, and then he became you know, a Meg Ryan movie on the yacht, No crying on the yacht. You're in the ninth ties paid coach in America. Nobody feels sorry for you that you have to go raise money. And if you don't want to do that, Drew, it's not a mandatory job, is it. 00:34:52 Speaker 5: No, Then that's I mean, that's what I was saying that the reasons we like stoops is there wasn't any crying. It was where's my lunch pill, where's my boys? We're gonna figure this out and do things Kentucky football has never done. But we haven't really heard that attitude in a few years. It's been a slowly decline to this year of complaining and it's just too much going on. 00:35:08 Speaker 4: Corn bred hemp. If you need to rest and relax during the holiday, everybody needs that a right, so you'll be to you know, you got your family and there's like uncle, the uncle won't stop talking about politics, and then the aunt wants to tell you about her grandson and how she's He's like he's like works at the parks department, like you can. I've tweeted a. 00:36:31 Speaker 5: Few winners and random people are like, wait, how are you able to do. 00:36:33 Speaker 4: That the way you are? Because you gotta do is have a have a meal here at Ksbar. Anytime they're doing it this time, anytime Kentucky basketball. 00:36:40 Speaker 5: Plays all year. You can do it right now, come in for lunch and do it. 00:36:48 Speaker 4: That's exactly right. Yeah, you can do it. You can do it now. One person writes, Matt, I don't understand why you're so adamant about this. If Kentucky wants to make a change, they could. They don't want to. I mean spoken like someone who's never had to balance a budget. I mean, you know, no, they can't. They can't do everything. And again I've said this many times. The people that would give money, like Mark Stoops, So where's this money coming from? 00:37:17 Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying. He's good at raising money. He's got some of these boochers that have only been basketball booters for years and years and years to donate to football. 00:37:26 Speaker 4: Yeah, it's it's kind of uh, you know, it's kind of ridiculous. I have, Shannon something I wanted to tell you. I saw The Rock say, and I've decided The Rock is one hundred percent correct about this. 00:37:38 Speaker 5: Okay. 00:37:40 Speaker 4: You know there's a movie I guess came out. There's coming out Moan two. Is that right? 00:37:45 Speaker 2: Yeah? Disney movie. 00:37:47 Speaker 4: Yeah, it's is it Moana Moanna? I think Moana Molana? So that comes out Wednesday, right, And apparently there's a lot of singing in the movie. Right, And they're already debate because you know, they did that Taylor Swift movie and like everybody just turned all the movies into a concert, and Taylor Swift said it said in the movie, it said singing is encouraged. So presumably if you went, you knew people were gonna sing. And there are videos of where like the places went crazy with little girls singing. Well, the Rock there's worried that in Moana to the people, like everyone's gonna sing. Uh, And The Rock said that he thinks in every movie with songs, the audience should be encouraged to sing. The songs along with the movie, and Shannon, I think the rock should be arrested. 00:38:42 Speaker 3: Well, I don't think there's any chance you're gonna go see Malwana too anyway, so I'm not gonna worry. 00:38:47 Speaker 4: And I don't really care about children's movies. But his premise was all musicals, they should encourage the crowd to sing along. And Shannon, I think that's the worst idea I've ever heard. 00:38:58 Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm going to. 00:39:00 Speaker 4: Like It's okay if Taylor Swift says, come sing my movies, then, Shannon, I know if I go, I'm listening to people sing. 00:39:06 Speaker 3: If we go to a concert, it's a little bit different. If you go to a concert and you want to sing, okay with I'm okay with that if you want to. But if you're in a movie theater, you shouldn't be singing. We don't need to hear from me. We don't need to see hear you sing off key. 00:39:17 Speaker 4: Yeah, but if you want to go see like, I'm not a musical guy. But if you were to go see Chicago, right, there was a movie Chicago a few years ago. 00:39:25 Speaker 5: You can't go to. 00:39:27 Speaker 4: The movie Chicago and get up and see when when I went to see straight out of Compton. I did not want the guy sitting next to me in his accountant hat wrapping uh. Straight out of Compton. 00:39:38 Speaker 5: I saw eight mile at the Madisonville Movie Theater the mall. 00:39:42 Speaker 4: Did you want people to rap with M and M? 00:39:44 Speaker 5: We have Wicked coming out this week, big big movies. 00:39:47 Speaker 4: Don't. You can't sing Wicked either. You're gonna go to help arrest people. He's just gonna have somebody there, Like. 00:39:54 Speaker 5: What if you go see Wicked. 00:39:56 Speaker 4: I'm not gonna go see Wick Wicked either. But if you're gonna go see Wicked, you let the Wicked people sing. You don't need to be the one singing. 00:40:04 Speaker 2: You're right, I'm paying ten dollars a ticket to hear Ariana Grande sing. I don't want to hear the guy beside me singing. 00:40:09 Speaker 4: I could hear the guys beside me singing on the subway. 00:40:11 Speaker 3: Ryan would be the guy who would be singing. 00:40:14 Speaker 2: What are you even talking? You know you would be singing. You would be most likely to sing at these times if it was if it was one of my favorite jams. 00:40:22 Speaker 4: But if that's the point for all these people, it's their favorite jam. But you we did not pay you to come sing. Agreed. I feel the same way about concerts as we've talked about. For slow songs, if you want to sing, oh, we're halfway their hair. But when it's like Lady May Tyler Chilter, shut up, let him sing? 00:40:41 Speaker 2: That really bothered you when we were there, still ain't angry about it. 00:40:44 Speaker 3: Yeah, I could tell yeah, you're a little heart for a while. 00:40:48 Speaker 4: I like the rock, but I think the rock needs to at least, you know, be arrested for a week for that take, because there's gonna be people who go sing at wicked and moanity because of the rock, and I'm against it. Who's up next, Mike, Mike, go ahead, Mike. 00:41:05 Speaker 7: Good morning, Matt talking about Queen's George Costanza's mom and dad lived in Queens. 00:41:10 Speaker 4: That's right, George Constans's mom and dad live in Queens. 00:41:12 Speaker 5: There you go. 00:41:13 Speaker 4: There's there's two more pep that's right, the Costans living Queens. 00:41:17 Speaker 2: He's laughing at us. 00:41:18 Speaker 7: Yeah, So you're talking about people arguing about Stoops not being off of that contract or letting him go. A couple of years ago. You absolutely could not have let him go because who were you going to who were you going to get? Yeah, you know, like I look at this Kentucky job and I think of the guy, the hot guy right now with the summer all down at Tulane. Like, if you look at the conference, you could make an argument that Kentucky, I mean, Vanderbilt is always gonna be at the bottom, and then maybe Mississippi State because you have to live in Starkville. But then it's Kentucky, you know, and that's you know, how attractive is the job? 00:42:03 Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean that's another thing one of the things I think we have a delusional view. I agree appreciate the call about our attraction. We are attractive, but we are in a conference with bombshells, right. I mean, I think you could make an argument seven, eight, nine of the top fourteen or fifteen jobs in America are in our conference and we aren't one of them. And like we have to understand that. With that said, Mark Stuopens has also got to get his attitude in gear if he's gonna be here the next three or four years. And that's why I think this next week is so important. We'll take a break, come right back, We'll do the top basketballs
