<v Speaker 1>It's the last fan wrestling podcast.
<v Speaker 2>Principal He'll be Fine.
<v Speaker 3>Principal photography took place in the summer of two thousand
<v Speaker 3>and four in South Korea. I sadly could not find
<v Speaker 3>many details about the process. I do know that about
<v Speaker 3>three years were invested in prepping the film, and ten
<v Speaker 3>billion one which equals eight point four million dollars were
<v Speaker 3>made to use the film. So jump change in Hollywood,
<v Speaker 3>I guess eight million dollars. Like Jesus Christ, there isn't
<v Speaker 3>a movie, a studio movie made for eight million dollars.
<v Speaker 3>That's like crazy cheap. However, given it's a movie about
<v Speaker 3>wrestling that features wrestlers, guess who was all over the
<v Speaker 3>coverage Dave Meltzer. I've never been able to fucking I've
<v Speaker 3>never been able to get Meltzer stuff as much as
<v Speaker 3>as with this film so far. Obviously, it's a it's
<v Speaker 3>a movie about wrestling featuring wrestlers. I basically his his
<v Speaker 3>his entire two thousand and four coverage of it. I
<v Speaker 3>kind of took bits and pieces and made one whole segment.
<v Speaker 3>So this is attributed to a year long coverage of
<v Speaker 3>Ricky Dozan from Dave Meltzer and the Wrestling Observer. The
<v Speaker 3>Ricky Dozan this is this is where I learned about
<v Speaker 3>it from you reading this shit to me right right,
<v Speaker 3>This is where I would have learned about it. The
<v Speaker 3>Ricky Dozan movie called yo Ko Tosan, which was his
<v Speaker 3>name in Korea, written about written about last week, that
<v Speaker 3>is being oh he wrote about last week, is being
<v Speaker 3>filmed in Korea this summer. Will have Kyungu Soul, a
<v Speaker 3>major South Korean movie star, in the lead role. If
<v Speaker 3>it gets released in Japan, it may be a big
<v Speaker 3>deal to the oldest generation, many of whom idolized Ricky
<v Speaker 3>Dozan and still don't know he was actually Korean since
<v Speaker 3>it was always hidden until recent years because of a great, many,
<v Speaker 3>great deal of racism against Koreans and the Japanese culture.
<v Speaker 3>It's a big budget Korean movie eight million dollars, mind you,
<v Speaker 3>and as noted before, it's become a very interesting deal
<v Speaker 3>because the movie will be released in December in Korea
<v Speaker 3>and in the spring of two thousand and five in Japan,
<v Speaker 3>and it will be revealed that Riki Dozan was actually
<v Speaker 3>born in North Korea. That would be the equivalent to
<v Speaker 3>Americans finding out that John Wayne was really born in
<v Speaker 3>Russia or Iraq. Wow add kJ Muto to the list
<v Speaker 3>of wrestlers involved in the Ricky Dozan movie. There was
<v Speaker 3>an article on the upcoming riky Dozan movie where Song
<v Speaker 3>Hey Sung, the director of the Korean movie that will
<v Speaker 3>also be released in Japan called yok Do San. Now,
<v Speaker 3>he's spilled in so many different ways. It's why okay
<v Speaker 3>d San said the film will focus more on his
<v Speaker 3>agony as a Korean living in Japan than on his
<v Speaker 3>life as a hero. The director is using the movie
<v Speaker 3>to attempt to enhance both Japanese and Korean awareness of
<v Speaker 3>the prejudice against Koreans in japan culture. The movie would
<v Speaker 3>note that forty one years after the death of Ricky Dozan,
<v Speaker 3>many celebrities of Korean ancestry in Japan concealed their background
<v Speaker 3>like Ricky Dozan did, because of the belief their stardom
<v Speaker 3>would quickly fail, fall and change their names to Japanese
<v Speaker 3>names to mislead the public. There are still major corporations
<v Speaker 3>in Japan that won't hire those of Korean ancestry, and
<v Speaker 3>there is a stereotype of them as being involved in crime.
<v Speaker 3>Ricky Dozan was a television star in Japan to a
<v Speaker 3>degree that simply can't be understood now, as he was
<v Speaker 3>far bigger than a wrestler or even major sports star.
<v Speaker 3>He was a national symbol. A generation of Japanese native's
<v Speaker 3>first exposure to television was seeing Ricky Dozan make his
<v Speaker 3>fiery comebacks with hard chops on giant Americans. And while
<v Speaker 3>business had its ups and downs in his days, despite
<v Speaker 3>how popular it was on television, and some tours when
<v Speaker 3>you had great foreign attraction or a strong tournament were
<v Speaker 3>almost sellouts, it was just a different culture when it
<v Speaker 3>came to ticket selling. Ricky Dozan wrestled several shows that
<v Speaker 3>outdoor baseball stadiums, but the biggest was his October seventh,
<v Speaker 3>nineteen fifty seven match at the old Coroquin Baseball Stadium
<v Speaker 3>for a draw against luth As we said, for the
<v Speaker 3>NWA title, which drew thirty thousand fans or thirty eight
<v Speaker 3>thousand fans if you're Luthz today, that would be considered
<v Speaker 3>a bad card at the Tokyo Dome.
<v Speaker 2>That's funny.
<v Speaker 3>Then again, nearly every television set in the country tuned
<v Speaker 3>into that match and was viewed by numbers that no
<v Speaker 3>pro wrestling match in history. Even WrestleMania's, which are broadcast
<v Speaker 3>live worldwide, will probably ever come close to and Then
<v Speaker 3>Newsweek also wrote an article after the movie opened January sixteen,
<v Speaker 3>two thousand and five. The fight to bring Ricky Dozan's
<v Speaker 3>story to the big screen has been nearly as colorful.
<v Speaker 3>Although more than one hundred and sixty books have been
<v Speaker 3>written about him, no one had ever turned his life
<v Speaker 3>into a film. The Yakuza connection spooked Japanese producers. Ricky
<v Speaker 3>Dozan is essentially a political figure in Japan's Hiss director's
<v Speaker 3>song Hey Sung. There are still a lot of unsolved
<v Speaker 3>controversy surrounding his death, the prime factor being that the
<v Speaker 3>gang member involved in his murder is even now nestled
<v Speaker 3>inside the Yakuza. Though for Japanese companies were purportedly interested
<v Speaker 3>in the rights to Ricky Dozan's story, they were still
<v Speaker 3>in the planning stages when Korean producer Ka Sung Jai
<v Speaker 3>jumped in for Ka It's tcha just so you know.
<v Speaker 3>It represented the perfect chance to break into the Japanese
<v Speaker 3>film market, the world's second largest. So the movie was released.
<v Speaker 3>It had its premiere at at at the Film at
<v Speaker 3>at the Pusan Film Festival, and it was it was
<v Speaker 3>it was very hyped up, very hyped up, not only
<v Speaker 3>because of the content, but also because of the budget
<v Speaker 3>that was spent, you know, the ambition about it. It
<v Speaker 3>was very Uh, there was a lot of buzz about
<v Speaker 3>the movie. And the world premiere was in Soul December sixth,
<v Speaker 3>and the Ricky Dozen son was there. What's his name,
<v Speaker 3>Mitsuo Momota.
<v Speaker 2>Mitsu Momota is Ricky Dozan's son. Huh yess he you know, hey,
<v Speaker 2>I'm pretty sure he's a wrestler.
<v Speaker 3>Oh yeah, yeah, he's a wrestler. Yeaheah, yeah, yeah it is. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>that's that's Ricky Dozen. Junr Wow. He says, my father
<v Speaker 3>would have been happy with the movie. He says, Ricky
<v Speaker 3>Dozen will be released in South Korea December fifteenth, the
<v Speaker 3>forty first anniversary of Ricky Dozen's death. So this is funny.
<v Speaker 3>So Sony Japan and you know, we've talked a lot
<v Speaker 3>about Sony before with Batman Returns. Sony Japan was in
<v Speaker 3>charge of the Japanese distribution of the film. So and
<v Speaker 3>when it was the movie was released in Japan, there
<v Speaker 3>was a disclaimer before the film which read that the
<v Speaker 3>film was not historically accurate.
<v Speaker 2>Wow, so much for that.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I know, right, And when it did open, Ricky
<v Speaker 3>dozen vastly underperformed. Unlike his actual wrestling matches. The movie
<v Speaker 3>was a big disappointment. So it seems like the South
<v Speaker 3>Korean film market doesn't rank successes by how much money
<v Speaker 3>was made, by by how many people were admitted to
<v Speaker 3>the film. And apparently Ricky dozen only garnered one point
<v Speaker 3>two million admissions, so I guess times maybe seven American
<v Speaker 3>dollars per ticket. I'll give him that. I'll give him
<v Speaker 3>a low at seven million dollars. So not a success
<v Speaker 3>if you're spending eight million dollars on the the budget there.
<v Speaker 2>Oh, they definitely would have been profitable with that low budget.
<v Speaker 3>Well that's the thing is that that's the problem. It
<v Speaker 3>was a high budget for them. Yeah. It was the
<v Speaker 3>most expensive, the most expensive Korean film ever made at
<v Speaker 3>the time.
<v Speaker 2>Incredible.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, so there was a lot. I mean, it was
<v Speaker 3>like water World, think about like that, like it was
<v Speaker 3>it was. It was two hundred million dollars for them.
<v Speaker 3>But that being said, it did receive, you know, decent reviews.
<v Speaker 3>The Korea Times wrote that there's not a whole lot
<v Speaker 3>of drama you can make out of professional wrestling. After all,
<v Speaker 3>it might sometimes be fun to watch grown men in
<v Speaker 3>their underwear throw each other around the ring, but when
<v Speaker 3>it comes down to it, everyone knows the whole thing
<v Speaker 3>is fake or is it at its best move moments,
<v Speaker 3>the new film Yuk Dosan blurs that seemingly clear line
<v Speaker 3>between entertainment and reality. There's a hint of Martinus Coorsese's
<v Speaker 3>Raging Bull here, but unlike that classic film about boxing,
<v Speaker 3>Ricky Dozan pulls back on the reins before things get
<v Speaker 3>overly gut wrenching. In fact, there's a feeling of punches
<v Speaker 3>being pulled throughout the film, as it doesn't seem to
<v Speaker 3>know whether it wants to make him out to be
<v Speaker 3>a hero or show him for who he truly is.
<v Speaker 3>And that's that has been the big comparison. I've read
<v Speaker 3>a lot of different reviews said basically this it's trying
<v Speaker 3>very hard to be Raging Bull in wrestling, and a
<v Speaker 3>lot of people commend the direction, the production quality, and
<v Speaker 3>his performance as Ricky dozen is being very, very very good,
<v Speaker 3>but the movie itself kind of is a little rough
<v Speaker 3>around the edges. You know it's good, you know. Actually, honestly,
<v Speaker 3>I skimmed through it a little bit, and this is
<v Speaker 3>one of the ones I didn't actually watch. I've seen
<v Speaker 3>it before, so I was familiar enough with it that
<v Speaker 3>I didn't feel like I needed to watch it before
<v Speaker 3>we watched it. So but I didn't, you know, I
<v Speaker 3>didn't like go through the whole thing. So I'm kind
<v Speaker 3>of excited to see I remember really enjoying it when
<v Speaker 3>I watched it. I thought it was pretty good, definitely
<v Speaker 3>the best wrestling movie i'd seen at the time, because
<v Speaker 3>this was prior to The Wrestler, so uh, you know
<v Speaker 3>every you know, pretty much the the the best movie
<v Speaker 3>about wrestling at the time was you know, Ready to Rumble,
<v Speaker 3>So oh, you know.
<v Speaker 2>That's where we're at here right in the City. I
<v Speaker 2>hadn't seen it at the time. Oh you're talking about
<v Speaker 2>once you've seen I'm talking about what I'm talking about
<v Speaker 2>when I had When I when this movie came out,
<v Speaker 2>when I got the DVD in the mail from Amazon,
<v Speaker 2>this was like I hadn't I didn't even know about
<v Speaker 2>Night in the City at the time.
<v Speaker 3>I had noidy existed. So to me, this was the
<v Speaker 3>like wrestling movies weren't really I'm trying to think. I
<v Speaker 3>guess maybe the best wrestling you know movie, or at
<v Speaker 3>least movie with the best wrestling scenes, would have been
<v Speaker 3>Man in the Moon, you know, the Andy Kaufman movie.
<v Speaker 3>But besides that, there weren't many and so this was
<v Speaker 3>actually really a breath of fresh air. Yeah I still wait.
<v Speaker 3>You know, the one thing this movie has over The
<v Speaker 3>Wrestler is uh, is that it deals with how big
<v Speaker 3>wrestling can be. And the one thing I didn't like
<v Speaker 3>about The Wrestler was that it was about a guy
<v Speaker 3>in the end of his career. It wasn't about a
<v Speaker 3>guy in the throes of it. And to me, that's
<v Speaker 3>always you know, to really get people like people who
<v Speaker 3>don't watch wrestling to understand wrestling, it's like you gotta
<v Speaker 3>do something that's current. I mean, also watching them be
<v Speaker 3>miserable fucks in the end of their career, you know,
<v Speaker 3>slinging egg salad is is also rough. But yeah, right,
<v Speaker 3>sort of like like we talked about, you know, like
<v Speaker 3>we talked about for a long time, like the idea
<v Speaker 3>of doing a a Kurt Angle type movie, you know,
<v Speaker 3>where where you get a guy who who reaches the
<v Speaker 3>pinnacle of his career.
<v Speaker 2>But you know, like we we talked about like a
<v Speaker 2>Triple H character and Vince character, and you know, the
<v Speaker 2>drugs and all that shit, getting involved in steroids and
<v Speaker 2>all that stuff. You know. Yeah, a movie that kind
<v Speaker 2>of explains what it takes to get and stay on
<v Speaker 2>top and wrestling right right, all the shit, all the
<v Speaker 2>political moves you have to make. Yeah, the physical sacrifices
<v Speaker 2>and work nobody else wants to as far as like
<v Speaker 2>through injury trade offs you make along the way exactly.
<v Speaker 2>So that's it where you go to the movies. I'm
<v Speaker 2>ready to go to the movies, man. I mean, in
<v Speaker 2>the history of the Lapsed Fan, you know, I knew
<v Speaker 2>the time would come to deep dive Rookie doze in,
<v Speaker 2>but I didn't know it would be on something called
<v Speaker 2>under the cinematic. But it makes a lot of sense
<v Speaker 2>right before the cinematic treatment of the biopick of this guy.
<v Speaker 3>It does? It does? I mean, honestly, I was like
<v Speaker 3>I kind of felt a little weird. I was like,
<v Speaker 3>this is not I should not be talking about this
<v Speaker 3>guy as much as I am, Like this should be
<v Speaker 3>Jack's job.
<v Speaker 2>But no, totally did a great job, and James Irwin
<v Speaker 2>thinks a lot as well, and you know it's quickly
<v Speaker 2>it's a biopick. And really, what biopicks have we seen?
<v Speaker 2>I mean, I guess you could say there was the
<v Speaker 2>Jesse Ventura made for TV movie after he was announced governor.
<v Speaker 2>Other than that of a wrestler. Can't think of one. No,
<v Speaker 2>we haven't, we haven't we have not that well, there aren't.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, honestly, the only one. I'm saying they don't exist.
<v Speaker 2>I'm not saying we haven't done them. I'm saying they
<v Speaker 2>don't exist.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, you're right.
<v Speaker 2>The only on.
<v Speaker 3>Is uh is I yeah, the whole Coco ones coming out.
<v Speaker 3>But the only other one that that kind of exists
<v Speaker 3>again is the Andy Kaufman one. You could say, yeah,
<v Speaker 3>if you want to call them a wrestler, you know, yeah.
<v Speaker 3>But that's pretty amazing that there's never been a movie
<v Speaker 3>about a wrestler's life, like an Under the Giant movie.
<v Speaker 3>I know, I mean that right, there have been enough.
<v Speaker 3>There have been enough people who have broken the mainstream
<v Speaker 3>to have in wrestling, to have an interesting movie about
<v Speaker 3>their life. I mean, we could have had. Why why
<v Speaker 3>haven't we gotten well? I mean, I guess we have
<v Speaker 3>the TV show now the the seven Bucks TV show
<v Speaker 3>with the rock shows.
<v Speaker 2>How the Young Rock Show. Yeah that's still already get
<v Speaker 2>canceled yet that's still on. Yeah, but yeah, I guess
<v Speaker 2>that counts in a way. It's sort of his biography.
<v Speaker 2>But no, I'm just like a biopic man like Batista
<v Speaker 2>could one about his life and.
<v Speaker 3>Love to see I love, I love what I'm Bruno Reruno. Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Well, actually, interestingly enough, his one of the big sort
<v Speaker 2>of battles he fought towards the end of his life
<v Speaker 2>was being very picky about who he'd give the rights
<v Speaker 2>to his life story to as far as not over
<v Speaker 2>dramatizing it or not introducing, you know, sort of fantastical
<v Speaker 2>elements into the story, particularly around his mother struggles during
<v Speaker 2>you know, the Nazi occupation.
<v Speaker 3>Actually, what I heard is that actually there were he
<v Speaker 3>actually sold the rights to too many people.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, because he just kept saying yes, sure, they asked
<v Speaker 2>three times, like yeah, sure, Bruno should have a movie,
<v Speaker 2>just someone should Like I think of when fifty cent
<v Speaker 2>took off and they did the fifty cent biopic. It's like,
<v Speaker 2>it's not it's not because he's a towering figure. It's
<v Speaker 2>just because he's hot, Like, you know, why wouldn't John
<v Speaker 2>Cena biopic come out?
<v Speaker 3>Or he's got an interesting story him And that's where
<v Speaker 3>it comes down to. I mean, why isn't there a
<v Speaker 3>Rick Flair fucking movie out? Absolutely, and I'm not talking documentaries.
<v Speaker 3>I'm talking like someone plays the wrestler. There's no or.
<v Speaker 2>Zero or luthez for that matter. Yeah, some kind of
<v Speaker 2>American counterpot part. So you could even get you could
<v Speaker 2>even get a bigger crowd by calling the movie hooker. Absolutely,
<v Speaker 2>you could just post people, wouldn't fucking know, that's a
<v Speaker 2>great idea for a movie. So, you know, a biopic
<v Speaker 2>about a wrestler pre knee pads, right exactly. So well,
<v Speaker 2>let's let's let us think about the archetype of the
<v Speaker 2>American counterpoint to a wrestler biopick film in the form
<v Speaker 2>of Ricky dozen and roll the projector three two one
<v Speaker 2>play Idle sequenced children on an Island production company. The
<v Speaker 2>more you know, serious, that's what it sounds, what it
<v Speaker 2>feels like, this is a hard one for the Solar
<v Speaker 2>system to find.
<v Speaker 3>Oh, this is I was gonna say that's the next thing.
<v Speaker 3>This is you pretty much have to buy this one
<v Speaker 3>on DVD. To find it, I have not found any
<v Speaker 3>streaming options. Was by CJ Entertainment, know I.
<v Speaker 2>Mean I I mean, the only reason we have it
<v Speaker 2>is because I have it on DVD. Yeah, I probably
<v Speaker 2>would have thought it anyway for this, but I was like,
<v Speaker 2>this was one of those weird ones. I remember when
<v Speaker 2>I first moved to LA I had a what I
<v Speaker 2>called a pre it's all in Korean, Korean Germany, and
<v Speaker 2>have your subtitles in English. But then yeah, I had
<v Speaker 2>a we had a pretentious movie cabinet that was the
<v Speaker 2>public movie cabin so we kind of picked all of
<v Speaker 2>our foreign, you know, independent films. So it was like,
<v Speaker 2>you know, we did it on purpose to kind of
<v Speaker 2>be obnoxious and whatever. And so of course Ricky Dosa
<v Speaker 2>was out there. This movie is based on a true story,
<v Speaker 2>the subtitle tells us, but it's historically inaccurate. I am
<v Speaker 2>lonely a feeling only for the strong, a quote from
<v Speaker 2>Ricky dozen. So we're starting showy mountains on the Korean countryside, presumably.
<v Speaker 3>Like Atini Miki exactly, Fuji Tatsuya.
<v Speaker 2>That's our cast, and you are a Masato young boy
<v Speaker 2>running and panting through the snowy trail. And now we're
<v Speaker 2>at the New Havana Club and it's jazzy as fuck. Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>Michael Caine on bass.
<v Speaker 2>Could be a full uh full band here. Korean jazz ensemble, well.
<v Speaker 3>This would be Japanese Tokyo nineteen sixty three. Oh yes,
<v Speaker 3>a time jazz band.
<v Speaker 2>Thank you. I was not sure to be clear. Uh
<v Speaker 2>ohans I see Americans in this in this night. Where
<v Speaker 2>do they find me Americans to fucking be in the movie.
<v Speaker 3>It's a good question. Maybe they were the American Sony
<v Speaker 3>members or whatever.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, so they are trying to get across this idea
<v Speaker 2>of post war Japan. Yeah yeah, yeah, where it's crawling
<v Speaker 2>with Americans. Ah yeah, enjoying drinks. Any VIP tables here?
<v Speaker 2>The vi P is an exaggeration. I love the there's
<v Speaker 2>like a rich uh earth tone. Yeah, I like very it.
<v Speaker 2>Actually it's very much like The Godfather.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it really is.
<v Speaker 3>Time of swing.
<v Speaker 2>It's time of swing. We're told in subtitles here, whoa
<v Speaker 2>is that barrata?
<v Speaker 4>That was.
<v Speaker 3>Yes, that was the That was the mazzarella cheese with
<v Speaker 3>ricotta inside the barrata.
<v Speaker 2>We we heard a guy with a We saw a
<v Speaker 2>guy with a black leather jacket on, hustling and pushing
<v Speaker 2>waiters out of the way and parting the curtain. His
<v Speaker 2>rookie Dozan in a pinstriped suit looking like Kennekobashi. It
<v Speaker 2>really doesn't. He looks like the Gobashi we met at Starcast,
<v Speaker 2>all the way down to the pin striper suit. Left
<v Speaker 2>his imprint on my chest, indeed. And so while he's
<v Speaker 2>walking while stabbed, Yeah, back into the club and he's
<v Speaker 2>being reintroduced. But yeah, no, it's so citizen is so
<v Speaker 2>well in. That's what you could have told people in
<v Speaker 2>your pretentious movie cabinet, that this is essentially the Korean
<v Speaker 2>citizen Kane. I don't know if you are hipped to that. Oh,
<v Speaker 2>this guy's this guy's a treat.
<v Speaker 3>Ok.
<v Speaker 2>He does and takes the stage, being asked to say
<v Speaker 2>a few words to the audience, and he wants to
<v Speaker 2>pass because he's he's bleeding, bleeding out. Let's see what
<v Speaker 2>he says.
<v Speaker 3>Oh, oh what do you say? Wow?
<v Speaker 2>So he does? Like what the what the book says?
<v Speaker 2>There's a mob hitman in this club, people, that's one
<v Speaker 2>man who can easily kill me. Clubs like this contained
<v Speaker 2>one man who can easily kill me, and they all
<v Speaker 2>laugh like he's doing a comedy bit. It looks like
<v Speaker 2>he's kind of playing around.
<v Speaker 3>He wants to kill me. Yeah, he challenge the greatest fire.
<v Speaker 2>Then he better get a ticket. If he wants to
<v Speaker 2>kill me, the toughest wrestler, then he better get a ticket.
<v Speaker 2>Jokes about how they sell tickets first and.
<v Speaker 3>Foremost, it's about that cash.
<v Speaker 2>See you in the ring, though, he says of the period. No,
<v Speaker 2>that's a good point in my mind's I always pictured
<v Speaker 2>the club he was stabbed in, and I pictured it
<v Speaker 2>much more kind of claustrophobic and almost like a neon light,
<v Speaker 2>like the black lit, like like a tight light club,
<v Speaker 2>like a true like yeah, but I mean that's not
<v Speaker 2>the sixth like like a blood ah, the the MC
<v Speaker 2>that he Then Ricky doesn't into the mic back to
<v Speaker 2>realizes that there's a blood stain in his palm, and
<v Speaker 2>that does in was got color. That's a lot of
<v Speaker 2>color and nowhere inside to the moment he's clutching his side,
<v Speaker 2>the town car whatever, it's over your key already before
<v Speaker 2>the h it's over, Jenny, it's over. We fade out
<v Speaker 2>as he go. Al's in the back seat. What rikitosm
<v Speaker 2>there's the title title Garo Extraordinary. We didn't say that though,
<v Speaker 2>and we flashed back to uh No.
<v Speaker 3>In doorways, they allow sea was calm and clouded.
<v Speaker 2>Over Japanese national Anthey thunder in paradized or lightning over
<v Speaker 2>the waters all replace.
<v Speaker 3>The sun and sky. Oh cloudy, this is the worst
<v Speaker 3>and thome ever, I.
<v Speaker 2>Don't know what that's. So it's Tokyo nineteen forty four,
<v Speaker 2>got it?
<v Speaker 3>So he would be Yeah, he would be in Tokyo already,
<v Speaker 3>that's true. So he's training to be a sumo.
<v Speaker 2>At this point, it was like a parade scene with
<v Speaker 2>all kinds of patriotic red white flag waving.
<v Speaker 3>We saw him in kind of a hand me down robe.
<v Speaker 2>There, yeah, pieking his head through the crowd. And now
<v Speaker 2>I think we're at the sumo village. Yeah we are.
<v Speaker 3>Is that what they how they train?
<v Speaker 2>They beat the ship up of peace. Oh, they're stumping
<v Speaker 2>the Korean thank you. The other sumo are stomping the
<v Speaker 2>ship out of Ricky doze in on the flora the
<v Speaker 2>sumo dormitory. Oh, this guy's crying. He keeps saying thank
<v Speaker 2>you as he gets stomped to ship.
<v Speaker 3>Like three of them are are beating the ship on him.
<v Speaker 3>I've beat the ship out of him. Other ones are
<v Speaker 3>crying on their knees.
<v Speaker 2>This actually is reminiscent of Squid games right now.
<v Speaker 3>I never I haven't watched it yet, the squid game.
<v Speaker 2>So he's left to uh suffer on the floor. That's
<v Speaker 2>probably a pro wrestler bitch ooh big shot?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah? Is that Yokozuma could be could be a ka
<v Speaker 3>I mean, there's a.
<v Speaker 2>Quite a life the sumo's lead.
<v Speaker 3>Huh. Yeah, it looks great, didn't it. So enthusiastic and
<v Speaker 3>fucking shirt. But guy up there with that with that
<v Speaker 3>button down shirt, belly just exposed.
<v Speaker 2>Absolutely on a trip. So Ricky Dosan here being referred
<v Speaker 2>to as Kim and one of his buddies, the one
<v Speaker 2>that was crying when he was getting stomped, is I'm
<v Speaker 2>pressing upon him that we should get out of here.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Notoriously ritualistic and brutal are some of the the camps,
<v Speaker 2>the sumo camps that, yeah, train people for sumo. They
<v Speaker 2>still like that.
<v Speaker 3>I don't know. I think every now and.
<v Speaker 2>Then you'll hear a scandal about how like the young
<v Speaker 2>trainee dies or something like, I'm sure there have been reforms.
<v Speaker 2>The whole sport of sumo has been shaken to its
<v Speaker 2>core by allegations of like match fixing and stuff like that,
<v Speaker 2>wrestling fixed. Oh yeah, what mood do you set when
<v Speaker 2>you when when we watch the move?
<v Speaker 4>What do you?
<v Speaker 3>What do you?
<v Speaker 2>What do you do? What do you mean? I sit
<v Speaker 2>here and watch it.
<v Speaker 3>Just sit here and watch it. I turn off the
<v Speaker 3>overhead lights. Oh do you I put on just a
<v Speaker 3>desk light ambiance? Oh yeah, cool?
<v Speaker 2>Interesting, No, I just keep the same. Is that Kim
<v Speaker 2>Jong UN's sister.
<v Speaker 3>Air raid?
<v Speaker 2>Oh so this is Japan?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah we're in.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah forty four? Yeah, right, for sure we're still.
<v Speaker 3>Oh no, I think.
<v Speaker 2>Ricky dozen found a damsel in distress here in them.
<v Speaker 2>He noticed he doesn't stop eating, though it certainly does
<v Speaker 2>not hick on the warplanes fling over? How menacing is that?
<v Speaker 2>You imagine? Oh?
<v Speaker 3>I would, I would be horrified. You know what you
<v Speaker 3>don't see in the movie always horrifies me. There's one
<v Speaker 3>scene that always gets me. It's Red Don. You ever
<v Speaker 3>see Red Don? When when the troops are are are
<v Speaker 3>uh parachuting down, like the America gets invaded, the small
<v Speaker 3>town in America gets invaded and it's it always gives
<v Speaker 3>me goosebumps, like these kids, I mean, and it's also
<v Speaker 3>kind of sadly prescient, given you know, you get these
<v Speaker 3>terrorists basically coming. They they drop down into high school
<v Speaker 3>and start killing kids, you know.
<v Speaker 2>And that was in the eighties. So the woman that
<v Speaker 2>Wicky Doze in hustled the safety in the air raid
<v Speaker 2>is recognizes him as a wrestler And where are you from?
<v Speaker 2>He's just far away.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I'll say.
<v Speaker 2>That's what would have been. I see here what that
<v Speaker 2>actually would have been. I mean, I guess there were
<v Speaker 2>a ton of air raids and in Tokyo during the war.
<v Speaker 2>I also believe the team of aj Styles and air
<v Speaker 2>Paris in the final days at WCW were called air raid.
<v Speaker 2>There we go.
<v Speaker 3>Maybe it was them, I mean, in nineteen forty five,
<v Speaker 3>there were air raids for sure. Nineteen forty four.
<v Speaker 2>It's a woman's a musician that he met. He's still
<v Speaker 2>eating what is he eating? What is that the yuka root.
<v Speaker 3>Turnip? It's good.
<v Speaker 2>I can get that fucking giant phallic thing out of
<v Speaker 2>my face. Incredibly crunchy vegetable only fallac thing. I want
<v Speaker 2>is your cock in my mouth? To translate that, ah,
<v Speaker 2>this is going to do. This is a ceremony for
<v Speaker 2>someone's ascension to yoko zuna, which of course is one
<v Speaker 2>of the highest ranks you can attain in sumo. I
<v Speaker 2>think the highest we now present Rodney Annoy. Yeah, A
<v Speaker 2>suppose a toast for the Azumanami.
<v Speaker 3>All of a sudden, All of a sudden, those those
<v Speaker 3>walls break down an Abdul the butcher.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it's like how dogs rush to the table when
<v Speaker 2>it's dinner time.
<v Speaker 3>Like the fucking hounds and a Christmas story.
<v Speaker 2>Correct, Oh, it's supposed to.
<v Speaker 3>Be wors.
<v Speaker 2>I guess. Oh yeah, you guys shows are they performance here?
<v Speaker 3>Guys? Should dancers? Got dun dund This is where you
<v Speaker 3>got inspired to be a pro wrestler. He watches the
<v Speaker 3>ballet and he's like, I can do ballet.
<v Speaker 2>Nice. Amazing How traditions like this develop in some parts
<v Speaker 2>of the world like so bizarre.
<v Speaker 3>I mean, bizarre is the wrong. I mean it's bizarre
<v Speaker 3>that any bizarre that that any tradition gets started. Honestly,
<v Speaker 3>so funny to me, especially in how they develop.
<v Speaker 2>And great pro wrestlers of all time right there isn't
<v Speaker 2>he dead? Yes, yeah, it's not that great, well, not
<v Speaker 2>currently correct.
<v Speaker 3>I love how I love how everybody's hair is perfectly
<v Speaker 3>kept in Ricky Dozings is a giant disaster.
<v Speaker 2>Total mess. Shinshimoto another one of those Zumoto Pro Wrestling
<v Speaker 2>superstar on pipeline guysers, where's Kenzo Suzuki? Oh you like
<v Speaker 2>Shu sees It's like, yeah, it's the woman he rescued, right,
<v Speaker 2>it's right, rescue whatever, Give me some of your your
<v Speaker 2>ACKI fuck?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah?
<v Speaker 2>Of that tuner roll? Is that how it smells?
<v Speaker 3>It's fresher in Japan.
<v Speaker 2>It's also now there's meat getting smacked.
<v Speaker 3>Oh god almighty.
<v Speaker 2>These huge ass sumos in their underwear.
<v Speaker 3>I like like the ones that aren't huge though, like
<v Speaker 3>he's not big. I know they have weight classes and all,
<v Speaker 3>but like, oh Jesus.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, man, he's got to stand on hands and feet
<v Speaker 2>and to push up position and get smacked with what
<v Speaker 2>the spamboo is.
<v Speaker 3>Hitting them with?
<v Speaker 2>Bastard, Oh Singapore cane.
<v Speaker 3>Now you know, I wonder you know, I'm sure a
<v Speaker 3>bunch of these guys aren't.
<v Speaker 2>Wow, he screams, eye will smiles it there. Yeah, it's
<v Speaker 2>horatio Sands four hundred pounds. That's a good one, Horatio Sands.
<v Speaker 3>I really hate a smiling Korean.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah. I thought no one knew he was Korean his
<v Speaker 2>whole life. But now they knew, and they knew, and
<v Speaker 2>they knew. In Sumo we talked about that.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, now they're now.
<v Speaker 2>Now the Japanese are getting you know, the Japanese audience
<v Speaker 2>is like, what the fuck? Whipping the ship out of
<v Speaker 2>that guy? His back seems fine though, so obviously it
<v Speaker 2>wasn't that bad. A good point down on a rooftop,
<v Speaker 2>washing and drying linens.
<v Speaker 3>Can't they fucking fix his hair? For God's sake?
<v Speaker 2>Couldn't they put some marks on his back? And we
<v Speaker 2>gotta sell the thing now, right? No, they ran out
<v Speaker 2>of their eight million, right.
<v Speaker 5>Uh?
<v Speaker 3>Oh, I guess he's gonna rewash all the laundry.
<v Speaker 2>His dickheads cutting down the clothes lines, bullying him. Pick
<v Speaker 2>it up, He says to the bully, the got up,
<v Speaker 2>your bastard, How dare you? I'm your senior, the other
<v Speaker 2>Sumo says, charges him with scissors like sid holler and
<v Speaker 2>elbow sh right hands. You don't get away with this.
<v Speaker 6>I don't know.
<v Speaker 3>Oh.
<v Speaker 2>We dodge a big stab attempt. Top wrist lock brings
<v Speaker 2>him down arm across the throat, bleeding from the mouth.
<v Speaker 2>That he's pointing the scissors in my face.
<v Speaker 3>Yikes, Oh Jesus the eye.
<v Speaker 2>He's got those scissors pointed. He's intense, soul killing goo,
<v Speaker 2>threaten to kill him if you don't shut up. He's
<v Speaker 2>making the bully cry. Look at that cry cry. It
<v Speaker 2>was a prank, friendly joke. It's a rib, right, it's
<v Speaker 2>a rib. This is what happens when you rib some right,
<v Speaker 2>when you rib a psycle like Ricky Dozing, it's like
<v Speaker 2>a spare rib. Yeah, you know what, owen Hart never
<v Speaker 2>had a spare rib. He always let him all out
<v Speaker 2>on the table. That's right, that's right. Just crucify this guiyanfully.
<v Speaker 2>That'll keep him off his back. Well, back at the ranch,
<v Speaker 2>back in vern Ganya's garage or whatever.
<v Speaker 3>It's the barn.
<v Speaker 2>Is that Bobby Bruns, the promoter in town. That's not
<v Speaker 2>an americanized character. Remember this is historically inaccurate, don't forget.
<v Speaker 2>According to the Japanese great whoever that guy was, they
<v Speaker 2>all just bit him a hearty goodbye. I think this
<v Speaker 2>might be a good time in the film Boss to
<v Speaker 2>regale us with the Ricky Doze in song One more.
<v Speaker 3>Time, Ricky does wreaky door. It's me, sir.
<v Speaker 2>Someone showing up at the dojo looking for Kim smacks
<v Speaker 2>him across the face with a book.
<v Speaker 3>The thief.
<v Speaker 2>It's like Vince McMahon, all right, what are you doing?
<v Speaker 3>I founder shipping?
<v Speaker 2>Uh oh. Everyone knows is a Korean. Your Korean, aren't.
<v Speaker 3>He was the worst secret ever kept in Japanese history.
<v Speaker 2>They lay it on a little thick inness in the
<v Speaker 2>beginning stages, not they so clearly the stolen wallet was
<v Speaker 2>planted in Rickey Dozan's locker by the bully by the
<v Speaker 2>top heel I was gonna get arrested.
<v Speaker 3>What was going on here?
<v Speaker 2>Boss jumps in. Oh k Doz makes a run for
<v Speaker 2>it through the streets. Uh oh, uh oh, he's going. Wow,
<v Speaker 2>he's giving like even even the smaller sumos. He's the
<v Speaker 2>He's the skinniest Sunamo I've ever seen in my life. Seriously,
<v Speaker 2>it's true.
<v Speaker 3>The fucking these these grown men in diapers.
<v Speaker 2>Get out parading through the streets. Also, I love howt
<v Speaker 2>Rickey Dozing is not a diaper t the river go
<v Speaker 2>on the river. Come on, you're going in no? Yeah, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>yeah yeah. Oh he's running, running like an idiot, a
<v Speaker 2>cops taking a gun out, shoots it in the sky.
<v Speaker 2>That does not to show Ricky Dozon. Now he's pointing
<v Speaker 2>at Rickey Dozean and shooting at him. Oh my god,
<v Speaker 2>it's being told to stop running by his sense. You'll
<v Speaker 2>never wrestle if you keep running, even for president against
<v Speaker 2>Barry Goldwater.
<v Speaker 3>Huh maybe from Korea, but a no, no thief.
<v Speaker 2>Ricky Dozean story.
<v Speaker 3>I don't care.
<v Speaker 2>It's pleading his case in the river here. I did
<v Speaker 2>not steal anything. All I want to do is wrestle.
<v Speaker 2>Maybe if he didn't yell and scream all the time
<v Speaker 2>like a maniac buttons on the red blood.
<v Speaker 3>It's older.
<v Speaker 2>He's trying to sing a fuck? Is he singing like
<v Speaker 2>a patriotic song? That song when you're dropping away like
<v Speaker 2>a color blossom? Wow, he's dancing like a military march.
<v Speaker 3>It was like almost like is a goose stepping pretty much?
<v Speaker 3>This poor guy.
<v Speaker 2>He's breaking down in tears as he cried as he sings. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I was of a mighty pilot, stronger than steel. That
<v Speaker 2>guy laughing behind him or he's crying. I think he's
<v Speaker 2>crying right. Uh oh, this guy's still pointing that gun. Jesus,
<v Speaker 2>make up your mind. Man, the trigger like days ago
<v Speaker 2>for gouds like two and a half minutes he's been
<v Speaker 2>pointing that gun to the guy.
<v Speaker 3>But the next day he's still pointing the gun. Everyone's gone, Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>he's still pointing the gun atself.
<v Speaker 2>Still pointing at a divestige of who's there. Wow, reminds
<v Speaker 2>me of Yagi's environs. And yeah, cryed a kid a
<v Speaker 2>little bit? Sure, Yeah, sure it's burdens. Is it gonna
<v Speaker 2>clove of garlic around his nack?
<v Speaker 4>That?
<v Speaker 3>What that is?
<v Speaker 2>Surprised me? Letter letter slid to Ricky Doze in Interior
<v Speaker 2>Day Ojo senden say seated criss cross apples.
<v Speaker 3>Say one hands correct with an invitation to a wedding.
<v Speaker 2>He's been handed his name and he's been told its
<v Speaker 2>name he must carry for all eternity. Name's written on
<v Speaker 2>this envelope. Here do I have to it? Says Ricky
<v Speaker 2>does In. Now you are officially a sumer wrestler. Can
<v Speaker 2>you find me a better name?
<v Speaker 7>He's a lapsed fan wrestling podcast with Jack and and
<v Speaker 7>JP sorrow.
<v Speaker 1>He's a lapsed fan wrestling podcast.
<v Speaker 4>Okay, nothing you want, I will give it to you.
<v Speaker 4>Speak before I have a change of heart. Can somebody
<v Speaker 4>please comb my hair correctly?
<v Speaker 2>Right? Can I not get the ship beat out of
<v Speaker 2>me routinely?
<v Speaker 3>Oh? He wants to wants a woman.
<v Speaker 1>Ah.
<v Speaker 2>This guy thinks it's very funny. It is the name
<v Speaker 2>I has pronounced ah ah right, Yes, I would like
<v Speaker 2>to marry. I'll say ah pretended choke, that's how you
<v Speaker 2>say it.
<v Speaker 3>I I was walking down the hall and I got
<v Speaker 3>a glimpse of Al's pussy.
<v Speaker 2>Who is this guy anyway? He's Oh, it's Kano right,
<v Speaker 2>asking Ricky does? And why have all the people on
<v Speaker 2>the bridge when he was making a run for it
<v Speaker 2>that he called for him? This is not ji Kano,
<v Speaker 2>not the gracies jiu JITs. He does. Tells him you
<v Speaker 2>stood out from the rest.
<v Speaker 3>He likes that. He wants to stand out from the rest.
<v Speaker 2>Appairently, he's been waiting his whole life to hear that.
<v Speaker 2>That's correct.
<v Speaker 3>He too.
<v Speaker 2>Very meditative. Yes, yeah, so good. I love it. Ever
<v Speaker 2>since you first uttered that, I've always thought of that.
<v Speaker 2>Whenever I hear Ricky dos I.
<v Speaker 3>Mean almost twenty years ago.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, yes, if you have to put a date on it.
<v Speaker 3>Yes, Oh my god. It's one of those weird things
<v Speaker 3>too that just does not go away.
<v Speaker 2>It does not know no matter what.
<v Speaker 3>So what is this? Oh this is Ricky Doson repeated
<v Speaker 3>three times.
<v Speaker 2>I think it's the magic of it. It's having a
<v Speaker 2>heart to heart with his his buddy. And no, I
<v Speaker 2>think so that's the guy that was crying when he's
<v Speaker 2>getting beat up.
<v Speaker 3>Oh, Sumo is the way to.
<v Speaker 2>Power, reads a sign hung above the dojo t Lasso
<v Speaker 2>had believe outside his office fifty one. So we are
<v Speaker 2>I mean, yeah, Ricky does dress like a Chuicio Nita.
<v Speaker 3>Now what a maniac?
<v Speaker 2>Where is he? He's in some office, just clearing.
<v Speaker 3>Up fired from his mister Ricky Dozon.
<v Speaker 2>Please control yourself. He's reaching up and grabbing pictures of
<v Speaker 2>mister Ricky.
<v Speaker 3>Does please Ricky? Mister Ricky does and please over there,
<v Speaker 3>just like.
<v Speaker 2>Jerry Lawler angle. Someone just cracked a frame picture over
<v Speaker 2>somebody's head.
<v Speaker 3>Of E c W. It's E s W. Extreme Sumo Wrestling.
<v Speaker 2>I'll say it's like running up on Vern's office in
<v Speaker 2>the seventies.
<v Speaker 3>Fucking fucking no, what's his name? No, well, yeah, but
<v Speaker 3>I'm thinking.
<v Speaker 2>Uh like while he Carribou Billy Billy Robinson, coming in.
<v Speaker 3>My beans and toast.
<v Speaker 2>He would go to Ron's office and ask for his
<v Speaker 2>beans and toast.
<v Speaker 3>I want my beans and toast.
<v Speaker 2>So apparently that flip out session from Ricky Dozan was
<v Speaker 2>because he didn't make the team, so to speak, and
<v Speaker 2>grab a bottle of pella a drunk. Well, his girlfriend's
<v Speaker 2>giving lessons on the guitarry.
<v Speaker 3>Let's call it a day. I gotta talk to Ricky.
<v Speaker 2>What do you call those guitars anyway?
<v Speaker 3>Uh, Japanese guitars?
<v Speaker 2>Got it? What are you doing? I'm just jostling as
<v Speaker 2>many dishes and silverware as I can. I'm making as
<v Speaker 2>much noise as I can exactly. Oh, he's grabbing a knife.
<v Speaker 2>He's gonna cut his hair off top not right. Ah,
<v Speaker 2>he's just a daggony.
<v Speaker 3>Have you forgot your dreams? Have you forgotten your dreams?
<v Speaker 3>I have no dreams.
<v Speaker 2>This is correct. I guess they did do it. Oh,
<v Speaker 2>miss is his mommy? Sorry, what's mommy? Let's see where
<v Speaker 2>mommy is in Japanese had a mommy? The whoever it
<v Speaker 2>was he was hassling in that office about why he
<v Speaker 2>didn't make the team said, you know why because he's Korean.
<v Speaker 3>Can you hear this, Mama?
<v Speaker 2>Yes, I can't.
<v Speaker 3>You like that?
<v Speaker 6>Uh?
<v Speaker 3>He's still crying.
<v Speaker 2>What will I do now if not Sumo? He asks, I.
<v Speaker 3>Don't know, fuck your wife? Whatever?
<v Speaker 2>What about? And she whispers into his ear, what about
<v Speaker 2>bowed us?
<v Speaker 3>What about? Honey? What about pure resolution?
<v Speaker 2>Oh no, she actually just said, what if you drive
<v Speaker 2>an ice cream truck?
<v Speaker 3>What about?
<v Speaker 2>What about pure resolution?
<v Speaker 6>Ah Russell?
<v Speaker 2>That's the dialogue. What will I do now if not Sumo?
<v Speaker 2>What about pure resolution? Ah Russell?
<v Speaker 3>Ricky does ann.
<v Speaker 2>First of all, let us not forget that very important point.
<v Speaker 2>Ricky does, and right here extraordinary, Oh my god, the
<v Speaker 2>pure resolution. He stumbled out of his bedroom to take
<v Speaker 2>a ship, presumably.
<v Speaker 3>Just pouring down his fucking what is he you at
<v Speaker 3>that restaurant shirt ship?
<v Speaker 2>Imagine like if in the middle of this movie, he
<v Speaker 2>really they took the time and spent the money to
<v Speaker 2>shoot him getting up taking a big ship and going
<v Speaker 2>back to sleep and nothing happens. It's just five minutes
<v Speaker 2>in the middle of the movie.
<v Speaker 3>But it's it's one shot, Okay, It's one shot and
<v Speaker 3>it's just focused on his bed, so you see him
<v Speaker 3>he gets exactly you know the bed, see him get up.
<v Speaker 3>His wife's still sleeping. He walks over, and he walks
<v Speaker 3>out of frame, and then all you hear is.
<v Speaker 2>There has nothing to do with the rest of the movie.
<v Speaker 2>So now he's sitting before a tribunal of sorts who
<v Speaker 2>are discussing how long he should be banished from sumo
<v Speaker 2>for what he's done. He's a Korean, that's nice. Respect
<v Speaker 2>bows to them. This guy in the left has no
<v Speaker 2>idea what's going on left corner either is he's jerking
<v Speaker 2>off Japanese godfather. Get out, you're finished, he says.
<v Speaker 8>Sushi the bull raiser, Tonkyo, ungrateful idiot, he's golfed.
<v Speaker 9>What nerve the knife?
<v Speaker 3>Nice? Do it?
<v Speaker 2>Ricky stab one of these, he says, I sacrifice ten
<v Speaker 2>years of my life at the top nine. Here it
<v Speaker 2>comes coming off right in front of these dignitaries or
<v Speaker 2>this damned thing? Did he just call the top not
<v Speaker 2>a damned thing?
<v Speaker 3>Oh, he's still keeping the name though they like Princess died,
<v Speaker 3>Like I still want to be a princess even.
<v Speaker 2>Hi, Ricky Dozan will go my own way. Some of
<v Speaker 2>this is little overdone. Some of this, yeah, I feel
<v Speaker 2>like that was kind of overdone. It's very much overdone,
<v Speaker 2>you know what I mean. He's very like, he's very dramatic. Right,
<v Speaker 2>there is no there's no room for subtlety here in
<v Speaker 2>Ricky Dozin. We're edging towards hay geography. Here it's still
<v Speaker 2>too like unbelievable, you know.
<v Speaker 3>I mean yeah, in a weird way, they should have
<v Speaker 3>I don't know, like I almost feel like they would
<v Speaker 3>have been better off keeping the sumo stuff, yeah, flashbacks
<v Speaker 3>almost you know. Yeah, and just to think it right
<v Speaker 3>the main focus and not have this whole I mean,
<v Speaker 3>we're thirty minutes in and it's like, what's happened?
<v Speaker 2>Really? They just like have called them a Korean forty times,
<v Speaker 2>like we get it, you know, like he's discriminated against.
<v Speaker 2>He's eating somewhere.
<v Speaker 3>See, this is why Korean films costing eight million dollars
<v Speaker 3>are expensive. All Right, you guys gonna get get on
<v Speaker 3>that ship. I don't mean that I loved I love Parasite.
<v Speaker 2>It's a great movie.
<v Speaker 3>I just want to make those noodles again. I love
<v Speaker 3>making those noodles.
<v Speaker 2>Oh did you make them. Oh my god, I've made
<v Speaker 2>them like six times since I saw that movie. Tremendous
<v Speaker 2>that could work so good.
<v Speaker 3>I mean, like, you know, there's no real recipe for it,
<v Speaker 3>but you find a bunch of different versions of it.
<v Speaker 3>And the one that I've done that I've kind of modified.
<v Speaker 2>It's so fucking good, tremendous. It's like it is.
<v Speaker 3>It is addictive, it is, and it's one of those
<v Speaker 3>things that you know you have it, but it's way
<v Speaker 3>better the next day. And I'll just grab the bowl
<v Speaker 3>of leftovers when I make it and just devour them cold.
<v Speaker 6>Nice.
<v Speaker 2>That's great.
<v Speaker 3>Something.
<v Speaker 2>What's going on here? He's eating? He's my young gill
<v Speaker 2>Okay still still my mother Okay, passed away? I see,
<v Speaker 2>think you just got a letter confirming his mother's dead.
<v Speaker 2>Fucking mister Gower over here now.
<v Speaker 3>Oh George, Oh George, Oh George.
<v Speaker 2>I know you feel bad.
<v Speaker 3>I know you didn't mean it. Not my bad here,
<v Speaker 3>that's my bad here, mister Gower. Oh my god, it's fun.
<v Speaker 2>We could doze in kit even make it through a
<v Speaker 2>mudstorm and his motorcycle. He's it's drunk down in his luck.
<v Speaker 6>Drugs.
<v Speaker 2>He's taking bumps. Over all over his motorcycle, trying to
<v Speaker 2>write it. Get it upright, that's what his wife says
<v Speaker 2>to him, to get it up right. Correct, It's correct.
<v Speaker 2>H one more Ricky dos En song for me please
<v Speaker 2>at this moment.
<v Speaker 10>Rinky doos reeky doors reky doors.
<v Speaker 6>Oh yes, nice, well done.
<v Speaker 2>I should compose the score. Jeff quite quite moving while
<v Speaker 2>he was drowning in his sorrows next to his bike.
<v Speaker 3>And he's drowning, he's the sorrows again and the next.
<v Speaker 2>Time he's pounding backsake.
<v Speaker 3>Lots of repetitive stuff going on in this movie.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, we're kind of back in the original jazz club
<v Speaker 2>in a way. They shot this in the back.
<v Speaker 3>Let's uh, let's call him Korean every two scenes. Let's
<v Speaker 3>have him drink every three scenes. Yeah, that's right.
<v Speaker 2>They're saying he's drank too much. They're gonna refuse more
<v Speaker 2>to serve him more alcohol. And he screams a rookie
<v Speaker 2>dozon and throws a look or bottle at the bartender
<v Speaker 2>And that looks like a yuk who's into me like that?
<v Speaker 3>That's the guy who killed my kids.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, oh, how dare you? Kuza Bum threatened me? He says, oh,
<v Speaker 2>look at him.
<v Speaker 3>He did one too. That was the.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I know, breaks a bottle over his head. He's
<v Speaker 2>busted wide open, giving him the boots, but the stump
<v Speaker 2>kicking the ribs. This is exactly what he did to Kimora. Hey,
<v Speaker 2>I know that is I recognize that guy is that's
<v Speaker 2>kJ Mudo. That's the Great Great Muda. He looks so
<v Speaker 2>fucking young. Yeah he was. He isn't like seventy five.
<v Speaker 2>That old the Great Muda makes his UTC debut here,
<v Speaker 2>that's right, snatching the side headlock on a wiling out
<v Speaker 2>rooky dozen. That's Great Muda. Wouldn't be who he is
<v Speaker 2>if it wasn't for Rickey Dozon. He's being told you're big,
<v Speaker 2>are you? Some more wrestlers should moon Saltan right now?
<v Speaker 2>Oh wild left from Ricky Dozan misses.
<v Speaker 3>It looks nothing. I guess it does a little bit
<v Speaker 3>like him now that you see with his eyes. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>Baldon with the goate weird.
<v Speaker 2>It's a different look. So so Kaju Mudo plays Harold Takata,
<v Speaker 2>the wrestler who introduces himself to drunk as a skung
<v Speaker 2>gry dose in Harold Zicatagum becoming some of the cinematics.
<v Speaker 2>I was gonna say, he said plenty of Hollywood turns,
<v Speaker 2>hasn't he gold Finger? That's right?
<v Speaker 3>I forget that's this big claim to thing eating the
<v Speaker 3>fucking bar America.
<v Speaker 2>That's an American Bobby Bruns.
<v Speaker 3>Oh.
<v Speaker 2>Here it comes dressed like Shane the Ghost of Christmas past,
<v Speaker 2>fucking Jacob Marley walking through exactly. He really does look
<v Speaker 2>like Kobaji. It looks like Kobaji.
<v Speaker 3>Ah.
<v Speaker 2>You know the one thing I the one thing I I.
<v Speaker 3>What is he gonna do with the chains?
<v Speaker 2>I don't know what the funk that's supposed to be.
<v Speaker 3>It's like John Moxley over there to say.
<v Speaker 2>You're gonna do with chains just like the rest of
<v Speaker 2>the deal.
<v Speaker 3>Hey, super Bowl wrestlers.
<v Speaker 2>Being told you don't need all that to wrestle and
<v Speaker 2>buy all that. He means a body for nobody's and
<v Speaker 2>covered in chains. We don't know why he's wearing chains,
<v Speaker 2>but you know, I fight to the death. Stepped into
<v Speaker 2>the corner turn buckle goes Ricky Dozon.
<v Speaker 3>Ricky's enter rule number one. It's fucking fake, bro.
<v Speaker 2>I know he doesn't know that shoots gets it on
<v Speaker 2>a single stuffed and overhead sup X by Mudo, who's
<v Speaker 2>lightning fast back to his feet. Yeah he was younger.
<v Speaker 3>Look at this fucking drop kick.
<v Speaker 2>Ye a drop kick by Mudo right in the mush
<v Speaker 2>dropped toe holds face oh face. All the while they're Oh,
<v Speaker 2>I'm not really sleeper yet, fake sleeper, Yeah, into the
<v Speaker 2>I love.
<v Speaker 3>The transitions are so fucking funny.
<v Speaker 2>So Japan. Yeah, pops down to a leg lace kneebar.
<v Speaker 3>He's tapping in nineteen forty four? Whatever is? Oh my god?
<v Speaker 3>True off the ropes, shoulder block?
<v Speaker 2>God does he hit the ropes or what clothes line?
<v Speaker 2>Toe brings down?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah?
<v Speaker 2>So Ricky doze and came stomping into this wrestling school
<v Speaker 2>that Harold's cut upparently gave him the address for. And
<v Speaker 2>now he's dead counting the lights. Huh. Sumo is a
<v Speaker 2>sport for Japan, but there's a sport for the entire world,
<v Speaker 2>He's told, and that's pure resolution pro wrestling.
<v Speaker 3>We're here to we're here to learn how to do
<v Speaker 3>pure resolution. My name is Jimmy Barnett. I am purely resolute.
<v Speaker 6>That's right.
<v Speaker 2>Do you recall does this movie pretty much treat pro
<v Speaker 2>wrestling as a shoot for the entirety of the.
<v Speaker 3>Movie, because does I think it does. I don't think
<v Speaker 3>they that was I think if I remember correctly, it's
<v Speaker 3>the one thing that rubbed.
<v Speaker 2>Me the wrong way. Yeah, kind of a drawback was
<v Speaker 2>like enough, like I get it. You know it's all fake.
<v Speaker 2>We're all there now, biggie, he wrestles today. Yeah, it's
<v Speaker 2>being told to use a good.
<v Speaker 3>Barber, that's for sure. It's fucking clown riding your bike.
<v Speaker 2>Well, that's pretty old school, and invite the new training
<v Speaker 2>to the wrestling school and beat the ship out of
<v Speaker 2>him for real. See if he comes back. I don't
<v Speaker 2>know what's happening. I don't know who this guy is.
<v Speaker 2>What the fun's happening.
<v Speaker 3>Well, that's the guy from thee I'd look to a
<v Speaker 3>western wrestling.
<v Speaker 2>All right now, therefore to his western wrestling at this
<v Speaker 2>point in time.
<v Speaker 3>And I don't really know who this fucking guy is,
<v Speaker 3>do we really?
<v Speaker 2>He's like almost like a manager. So sort of hang around.
<v Speaker 3>Trying to figure because what was his name? Again? Conno
<v Speaker 3>is it? What is it? You said?
<v Speaker 2>My race and country do not matter. Life is short,
<v Speaker 2>and I have wasted half of it. Ricky Dozan says,
<v Speaker 2>He's now on his knees at Kano's yes best, He says,
<v Speaker 2>I just can't end it here was he contemplating suicide?
<v Speaker 3>Probably this is going to be the guy. This is
<v Speaker 3>the guy who adopts him my bet, I see he's
<v Speaker 3>got to be the guy, but not his real name.
<v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, how about stop drinking overall? I just stop
<v Speaker 2>drinking on empty stomach. Ricka Doos could toss him back.
<v Speaker 2>One thing that's come across loud and clear so far.
<v Speaker 3>You can also toss the opponents back too.
<v Speaker 2>Sure, take opponents back. His girlfriend going to America, he
<v Speaker 2>tells her, what did.
<v Speaker 6>You say that?
<v Speaker 3>That? Why?
<v Speaker 2>There's a Western It's called program Western Sumo. That's a shirt,
<v Speaker 2>a wrestling ring, Western Sumo.
<v Speaker 3>You can wrest.
<v Speaker 5>Oh my god, I'm going to be yep, maybe five
<v Speaker 5>at times. What you're done on the stele is a
<v Speaker 5>This is gonna be the real life. Just the fucking.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, straight up, telling his girlfriend he is not coming
<v Speaker 2>back to Japan until he succeeds in the United States
<v Speaker 2>and wrestling, So she's just gonna have to eat that.
<v Speaker 2>I'm in the dinner she's making either, I'm the man.
<v Speaker 2>Just stop making dinner. Then they lost power at a
<v Speaker 2>serendipitous moment.
<v Speaker 3>Funny, as he finds his true power, they lose power.
<v Speaker 2>Wow, you think that's what's going on there, Western Sumo.
<v Speaker 2>It's awesome. You can leave me if you want, he
<v Speaker 2>says to her. I don't care. I'll get myself an America.
<v Speaker 2>He is a dick.
<v Speaker 3>Isn't he supposed to be the hero of this film? No, remember,
<v Speaker 3>he's not a hero.
<v Speaker 2>No, he's not.
<v Speaker 3>Sam Hung Song says song. What's his name?
<v Speaker 2>I don't know, song, Hey song? I thought it was
<v Speaker 2>sing too.
<v Speaker 3>Song. Hey Song specifically said that he is no hero.
<v Speaker 3>We get the true Ricky doz in that, according to
<v Speaker 3>the Japanese historically inaccurate. Well that's always a good starting point.
<v Speaker 3>All will go well. Grieving girlfriend says, she shoves the
<v Speaker 3>burning candle into his face. Hey, no, she's gotta lit
<v Speaker 3>candle in her hand. I don't know if that's about
<v Speaker 3>no power.
<v Speaker 2>That's true? Yeah, all right, sade to black. Time is
<v Speaker 2>passing interior. Yeah, his girlfriend's now reading a letter he
<v Speaker 2>wrote to her for living room days later. Now, Oh,
<v Speaker 2>I guess he wrestled the fucking That is definitely not
<v Speaker 2>nineteen forties New York. No, definitely, not nineteen forties New York.
<v Speaker 3>That's the big island that was. That was definitely some
<v Speaker 3>modern buildings there.
<v Speaker 2>Look at that the ring and wrestling news magazines being portrayed.
<v Speaker 2>Didn't get any I did not get any.
<v Speaker 3>These signs are also not accurate.
<v Speaker 2>San Francisco Road sign.
<v Speaker 3>The building was not there. This is awful. Actually, holy shit,
<v Speaker 3>I don't remember this. All these modern buildings. It's not good. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>come on, we got c G.
<v Speaker 2>I getting a deluge of newspaper clippings about Ricky Doshans
<v Speaker 2>United States and ring exploits and getting victories. And I
<v Speaker 2>wish my oars was as good as he is, they
<v Speaker 2>say back home, reading the press coverage of his there's
<v Speaker 2>a cherry Bloshomy or the what do they call him? Blossoms?
<v Speaker 2>I hope you will. I am fine. How are you?
<v Speaker 2>I am fine?
<v Speaker 3>Okay?
<v Speaker 2>His hair? Finally, just a fan.
<v Speaker 3>Helloha?
<v Speaker 2>Oh yeah? Oh what a steward is nineteen fifty three?
<v Speaker 2>Ship out of her?
<v Speaker 3>Oh? Yes, you can I.
<v Speaker 2>Help you with anything? She asks him.
<v Speaker 3>Wost thing?
<v Speaker 2>He looks like a movie star? Now hey he does?
<v Speaker 2>Why don't you the Ricky Dosa the progress?
<v Speaker 3>Yes, I.
<v Speaker 2>Si wrestler. He signs a pro wrestler. It's like they
<v Speaker 2>know you're a pro wrestler. That's why they're asking for
<v Speaker 2>your autograph. There's a secret.
<v Speaker 3>To be rich. This is the lesson the words of
<v Speaker 3>wisdom here. To be rich, you have to spend less
<v Speaker 3>and earn more.
<v Speaker 2>The cab driver said.
<v Speaker 7>So.
<v Speaker 2>But he does in and his manager a kind of
<v Speaker 2>musing about how to become rich.
<v Speaker 3>Mhm.
<v Speaker 2>So he's already plenty of famous people are excited to
<v Speaker 2>meet him as he touches back down in Japan.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I mean, yeah, that's that's accurate. That's accurate. He was,
<v Speaker 3>he was, he was well known. I don't know what
<v Speaker 3>they're going to do with the second trip into America.
<v Speaker 3>It's a face. I don't remember if they do, T.
<v Speaker 2>Don't. I don't think so. The Japanese flowering cherry shedding
<v Speaker 2>its leaves here, Yes, she is. So she waited for him,
<v Speaker 2>or did she?
<v Speaker 3>I don't know. He's she was shetting those clothes in
<v Speaker 3>about five minutes.
<v Speaker 2>Hey, baby, Japanese elvis over here.
<v Speaker 3>I want to go.
<v Speaker 2>Fuck well, they're on their bicycle. That's step one. That's
<v Speaker 2>the Japanese first base. I don't know if you knew
<v Speaker 2>that I did.
<v Speaker 3>She's giving him a reach around right now. I can't
<v Speaker 3>see it off right now, that woman walking down the
<v Speaker 3>street right in her face.
<v Speaker 2>Yep, do you love me? I'll take it to should answer.
<v Speaker 2>Do you truly love h No, he's gonna take her
<v Speaker 2>to Shouldntjuku face. She asks him, do you like Audrey?
<v Speaker 2>Hepburn then and he goes, yes, Hi, hi, very well,
<v Speaker 2>it's appropriate. He's very fifties in his outfit. It's like
<v Speaker 2>the fucking Japanese Wonder Years. Well, no one could hear
<v Speaker 2>that except me. But what did it say?
<v Speaker 3>It's ricky Dozan is saying that will come in your face?
<v Speaker 2>Oh nice, thanks for that. Oh you will not be
<v Speaker 2>coming into this woman's apartment.
<v Speaker 3>Uh huh.
<v Speaker 2>I feel I won't be able to come back.
<v Speaker 3>He says, you're a home.
<v Speaker 2>She just waited for him all this time.
<v Speaker 3>Really, she didn't anybody.
<v Speaker 2>She's a keeper. I saw something amazing in the US
<v Speaker 2>and the United States. What did you say?
<v Speaker 3>Do you know?
<v Speaker 2>Do you know what I saw? And didn't even see
<v Speaker 2>one person. Wow, it's such a big country. You liked
<v Speaker 2>the big country.
<v Speaker 3>It was a big country.
<v Speaker 2>It was called COVID nineteen. Oh my god, what kind
<v Speaker 2>of fever did you catch? Ah, I'm really sorry, but
<v Speaker 2>I'm not coming in. He's kind of saying, I'm not
<v Speaker 2>going to deal with you anymore. Right, I think it's
<v Speaker 2>she's telling her to.
<v Speaker 5>Come with him.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know what you've seen, she says, like all
<v Speaker 2>of a sudden, she whips off. She's wearing like a
<v Speaker 2>dominatrix out there. But you've never seen that, right, what if?
<v Speaker 2>She said, I don't know. I don't know if you've seen.
<v Speaker 2>But since you've been gone, I founded a company called
<v Speaker 2>Domino's Pizza and she owns Domino's, all of them in America,
<v Speaker 2>all of the Japanese ones. She started the most famous
<v Speaker 2>pizza franchise in the history of the world.
<v Speaker 3>Well, you've been out there fake fighting. I've been out
<v Speaker 3>there making real money.
<v Speaker 2>Well, and that's the only time they mention it, and
<v Speaker 2>it's not true, and she never did that, but they
<v Speaker 2>just decide that that's part of her characters.
<v Speaker 3>The placement. Yeah, the fucking film. I was like, we'll
<v Speaker 3>give some money for the pure pure resolution movie. You
<v Speaker 3>got it, right, there's some money for that. You just
<v Speaker 3>put our little pizza.
<v Speaker 10>In there.
<v Speaker 2>Looking Japanese Donna read over here. Oh he's dumping her.
<v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, yeah, he's.
<v Speaker 3>It's the bricks lady.
<v Speaker 2>He's just George Bailey.
<v Speaker 3>I know he's the world.
<v Speaker 2>Ah, Sam Wayne Ryan, why what are you? Yes, except
<v Speaker 2>he's going to Sam Wayne Wright who was in the
<v Speaker 2>car with him instead of Mary.
<v Speaker 3>Exactly exactly? What's that?
<v Speaker 2>Is this how promoter's book? They just sit on the
<v Speaker 2>floor and scream at each other in Japan unless he's
<v Speaker 2>they can't say. What are you saying? Five time champion
<v Speaker 2>of the Grand Judo Tournament. Uh, the Grand Judah Tournament.
<v Speaker 3>Yes, the greatest.
<v Speaker 2>Judaca ever that Uh so, I guess these are promoters
<v Speaker 2>deciding who to spotlight is the Japanese super I would
<v Speaker 2>love to just sit across like it and drink tea
<v Speaker 2>and book and book the towns. Yeah ah, I heard
<v Speaker 2>you loud and clear. Then we will take a vote.
<v Speaker 2>I count for fifty votes. Oh so it's a Vince meeting.
<v Speaker 2>All those who are for pro wrestling, raise your hands.
<v Speaker 2>So this is a meeting of the Sumo brain trust
<v Speaker 2>about allowing Ricky dozen to do pro wrestling. Ricky do, yes,
<v Speaker 2>pro wrestling. That won't work.
<v Speaker 3>He will work.
<v Speaker 2>I will never work.
<v Speaker 3>Well, you'll see the problem is it's a work, so
<v Speaker 3>it will work. It's correct.
<v Speaker 2>There's one thing it's guaranteed to do. Its work. Is
<v Speaker 2>this guy supposed to be Bobby Bruns. I don't know,
<v Speaker 2>because he's being positioned as the guy. It's kind of
<v Speaker 2>the mad scientist behind Ricky Dozan's wrestling exploits. Who says
<v Speaker 2>pro wrestling? Now, Well, here's someone who says pro wrestling
<v Speaker 2>must come to Japan. Just past this it's President Roosevelt.
<v Speaker 2>He's dead by this point. Who's got the power point? Oh,
<v Speaker 2>it's Rickey Dozon himself, Rick Dozing, Ricky doos and Dozen
<v Speaker 2>Roth his back look around to the war may be over.
<v Speaker 2>Ricky Dozan tells assembled elderly upon an American, there's fear
<v Speaker 2>in our eyes when we look upon an American. Look
<v Speaker 2>at that. When did Japan fall into such weakness? These
<v Speaker 2>are not the eyes of the tiger, of a young
<v Speaker 2>man who died in mental.
<v Speaker 3>Are you tiger? It's the cream of the crop.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, Philippines and the Pacific. For my benefit alone, I
<v Speaker 2>am not bringing pro wrestling. I want to show the
<v Speaker 2>children of Japan. Rikittosan says a man who can stand
<v Speaker 2>up and fight the big and bag white men. Please
<v Speaker 2>look not at me, but at my true intentions.
<v Speaker 11>I am a real japperneseman for what was born in Korea,
<v Speaker 11>every Japanese man, I am a real Japnese man.
<v Speaker 2>So now he's standing with the formation of the Japanese wrestling.
<v Speaker 3>So now I'm doing a seventies movie here.
<v Speaker 2>Now they're jogging and working out, training training. I bet
<v Speaker 2>this is mirror Hiro Matsuda. It's Kim too, who came
<v Speaker 2>from Chosun. Who do you think this is here, Matsuda?
<v Speaker 3>Maybe I don't see. He beats the ship out of
<v Speaker 3>him or tries to be the ship out of him.
<v Speaker 2>This is already pledging intense loyalty to Ricky Doze on
<v Speaker 2>what your talent, young one, my young padawan, right baseball
<v Speaker 2>bat in his hand.
<v Speaker 3>You fucking go off al capone on him, freaking beat
<v Speaker 3>the ship out of him.
<v Speaker 2>I screams and charges fucking rams his head post anything.
<v Speaker 2>We're doing wrestling all the time. Oh my god, he's
<v Speaker 2>kicking it before his head hits.
<v Speaker 3>It's fake. Amusing ladism for wrestling. It's launch in Japan.
<v Speaker 2>I love it. There's a ticker tape parade and those
<v Speaker 2>must be.
<v Speaker 3>The National Auditorium. Yep, that's there's a gun.
<v Speaker 2>I'm on the front there. Former JG Global Steel Jim
<v Speaker 2>Steele yep, playing ticker tape parade, Brothers Cadillacs wrestlers and
<v Speaker 2>then waving to the people. I was from English. Bart
<v Speaker 2>Gun has speaking role in here. You know that it's
<v Speaker 2>working for all japan time. There's that cash you got
<v Speaker 2>from Hawaii. This is pocket money for you to make
<v Speaker 2>free with them. This is money to knock you out
<v Speaker 2>like butterbeans. Some of the means that only you guys
<v Speaker 2>could save me or break me at this moment. Speaking
<v Speaker 2>English to bark Gun Rookie Dozon March twenty sixth, nineteen
<v Speaker 2>fifty four at a sad show boat. What a weird
<v Speaker 2>set that is. Yeah, it's kind of a bizarre looks
<v Speaker 2>like world they called or something.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah. Oh, television, here we go.
<v Speaker 2>TV set up for the public on NTV NP on TV. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>we zoom into Japan's first ever TV live broadcast.
<v Speaker 3>Can you believe that?
<v Speaker 2>Unbelievable? As we see Ricky does on entering the ring,
<v Speaker 2>we have our first pro wrestling scenes of the movie.
<v Speaker 2>And there's a ka Orma yeah, played by Kyoshi Tamura.
<v Speaker 2>It appears.
<v Speaker 3>And there he is.
<v Speaker 2>He does on takes the ring and yes, bart gun
<v Speaker 2>and Steele do play the shops the Sharp brothers Ben Sharp.
<v Speaker 3>And Iron Mike Sharp.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I know you know Ricky Doza and this actor
<v Speaker 2>kind of looks like Junu ten Re you he does.
<v Speaker 2>He does, absolutely he does, especially with that rob on
<v Speaker 2>that all sounds runnerway and it's that got true Shibata.
<v Speaker 2>Who's playing this role.
<v Speaker 3>I'll let you know.
<v Speaker 2>Oh look at that it kicked by.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, bart Gunn looks like he's been on the juice.
<v Speaker 2>He's ripped said headlock, putting the big twist on breaks
<v Speaker 2>free scrambles. Yeah, who plays Kima.
<v Speaker 3>It's a.
<v Speaker 2>That said tam Uri meant for Naki. Nice overhead judo
<v Speaker 2>throw oh front face look nice Ben Sharp with a
<v Speaker 2>deep crops lift and slam.
<v Speaker 3>And what I do like about this is that it
<v Speaker 3>actually looks like wrestling, you know how it is? Yes,
<v Speaker 3>movie wrestling looks a lot slower and faker on film.
<v Speaker 3>It looks good, right, it really does.
<v Speaker 5>Well.
<v Speaker 2>They got workers in there, yeah.
<v Speaker 3>Right, well, I mean Hogan stuff. Even in Noel's bard
<v Speaker 3>look cheesy and it always looks. Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>The announcer say, is Japan being broken again? As humorous
<v Speaker 2>cells and takes Lariotto's Will.
<v Speaker 3>Japan be trampled by America again?
<v Speaker 2>Look at that? And we can wait to sell their
<v Speaker 2>first fall. Ye, big body slam and a cover for
<v Speaker 2>three bench sharp pitting key, more to the canvas.
<v Speaker 3>Now the hot.
<v Speaker 2>He's bought it slam and folks Irish whip back heavy.
<v Speaker 3>How small uh he is compared to the wrestlers.
<v Speaker 2>Look there he goes shop wow, a barrage of open
<v Speaker 2>hand chops against the ropes. Very spartan ring, just white posts,
<v Speaker 2>white matt black ropes. And he's in there by the way.
<v Speaker 2>The real guy there, you know, he's he's in the ring.
<v Speaker 2>He's getting his Look at that. Here we gone taking
<v Speaker 2>taking the chops like a pro. The real guy is
<v Speaker 2>stunt double hey body slamm by doze on on the hop.
<v Speaker 2>Now head scissor, Oh yeah, plenty of that. In fifty
<v Speaker 2>four he.
<v Speaker 3>Did do He did do a jumping head scissor.
<v Speaker 2>It's just not like that, not a spinning one. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>it's like a tilted world one. He did the deep
<v Speaker 2>the regular one where you go up, you go up
<v Speaker 2>perpendicular to your opponent and then drop down. Interesting vertical
<v Speaker 2>souplex by Ricky Dozon scores on Ben Sharp lateral press,
<v Speaker 2>gets two, gets three, one fall apiece.
<v Speaker 3>Wow, he is just a he has just defeated America.
<v Speaker 3>Kimura did nothing right?
<v Speaker 2>All right, third fall, which is called the third round
<v Speaker 2>here on subtitles it's Kimre and Ben Sharp.
<v Speaker 3>You know it's so fun. Tell me how you watch
<v Speaker 3>You watch, you know, movie actors and whatnot, and then
<v Speaker 3>you see them up against pro wrestlers and you're like,
<v Speaker 3>holy shite.
<v Speaker 2>Guys that you didn't think.
<v Speaker 3>Were that big, like Bart Gunn are huge.
<v Speaker 2>Huge motherfuckers. Two arm trieds in succession by Kamoras. He
<v Speaker 2>snatches there trendlock. But I know Jim Steele from anything, No,
<v Speaker 2>not not an American pro wrestling. No, I don't think so.
<v Speaker 2>Double vertical suplex puts down.
<v Speaker 3>I feel sorry for ima referee.
<v Speaker 2>Just a lot of meat slap in here, man, there
<v Speaker 2>really is. It's like a butcher shop, big stumps and
<v Speaker 2>you got the slam on scooping slam. A lot of
<v Speaker 2>bodies slams in this match. Slams more than you would
<v Speaker 2>normally see in a wrestling match. Only the sound fades.
<v Speaker 2>Ricky Dozon jumps in and starts stomping. Here and shave
<v Speaker 2>japan head.
<v Speaker 4>But but.
<v Speaker 2>Hey, drop kick Ricky Dozen brings Japan back to life.
<v Speaker 2>I wonder if they were really saying things like this
<v Speaker 2>on the commentary back when this aired. I look at this.
<v Speaker 3>Commentary, but I don't know what they were saying.
<v Speaker 2>Arena's on fire, Ricky Dozen jumping in and chopping everybody's
<v Speaker 2>being I.
<v Speaker 3>Wonder if they're gonna do the I wonder if they're
<v Speaker 3>gonna do the battering ram spot. Oh, synchronized slams. Good stuff.
<v Speaker 3>Oh it looks like we've been setting up for that.
<v Speaker 2>Oh no, Jim Steele tossed the ropes to the floor.
<v Speaker 2>This is a great moment. Bonzai along live Japan doubles
<v Speaker 2>double team success, Hell Japan. They're all cry everyone's crying.
<v Speaker 2>Oh here, we are going to see it, yes, right here,
<v Speaker 2>REGOs and.
<v Speaker 3>Japan has its pride back as everyone looks like Americans
<v Speaker 3>in nineteen thirties.
<v Speaker 2>I thought, I thought the UFC bot pride. All those people,
<v Speaker 2>they're all assembled like around the Christmas tree in the
<v Speaker 2>North poland pullar Express.
<v Speaker 3>Seriously, are the Japan team is just qualified? The crowd
<v Speaker 3>is surrounded the ring. We don't care.
<v Speaker 2>It's a mob scene toward the ring. Now that's crazy
<v Speaker 2>like that they lost, but they I never knew that. Yep,
<v Speaker 2>Americans won this one by its qualification. But they keep
<v Speaker 2>saying wiki Dooson has done it. This is a historic moment. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>they just should up see beat ass. The finish meant nothing.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah that's good. That was a better wrestling scene than
<v Speaker 2>you could back.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, honestly, was like it's it's more like a it's
<v Speaker 3>like a It was like real wrestling.
<v Speaker 2>It's like Highlander, just like it. Okay, so in Japan
<v Speaker 2>it seems to be some kind of award show or
<v Speaker 2>something that Rickey Doson is coming out on. I guess
<v Speaker 2>so on n TV. Mhm ah.
<v Speaker 3>Another person who can get mails with just his name
<v Speaker 3>on is the Emperor. But what is this singing?
<v Speaker 2>What is happening? What is happening? This is the a
<v Speaker 2>song for these people? I don't know he was a singer.
<v Speaker 3>Well, he's saying, oh show on that radio when we
<v Speaker 3>were ried about that. The fuck is going on.
<v Speaker 2>The moon that falls high on the bridges in my
<v Speaker 2>hometown in Korea. He should say, recalls our courage, not
<v Speaker 2>your courage.
<v Speaker 3>You didn't do shit.
<v Speaker 2>So Ricky Dozon's being invited on the Japanese equivalent of
<v Speaker 2>Johnny Carson or Jack Pard or whatever.
<v Speaker 3>It seems like.
<v Speaker 2>Trl yeah, something like that, and singing patriotic songs. Always
<v Speaker 2>making movies.
<v Speaker 3>Now look at this, Oh god, man, God, nice job,
<v Speaker 3>nice job, Ricky.
<v Speaker 2>Good stuff, pal love it a bullshit from directors. Great stuff, man,
<v Speaker 2>great stuff. More montages here we go, clippings, Grainy Sepia
<v Speaker 2>tone wrestling footage montage. Yeah, look at that. A newspaper
<v Speaker 2>advertisement for televisions washed wrestling at home, at home, that's
<v Speaker 2>the big selling point. Headlines read Ricky does on the
<v Speaker 2>people's hero, and we see him engaging with the people.
<v Speaker 10>See.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know if I love these like these these montages,
<v Speaker 2>I mean, they're they're definitely like.
<v Speaker 3>It's very rocky to me.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
<v Speaker 3>There's not much you know, creativity to it, right, it's
<v Speaker 3>a it's a it's an excuse, just kill some time.
<v Speaker 2>It seems that way, is it? A mountainside of State
<v Speaker 2>got his biscuit on?
<v Speaker 3>Who's the hull.
<v Speaker 2>Look at that.
<v Speaker 3>Can't you wear something better you? Is it the same woman?
<v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, she came with him. Oh well he's back.
<v Speaker 3>I mean.
<v Speaker 2>Pulling up in the Mercedes Benz Spriaky does and surrounded
<v Speaker 2>by photographers swarming the car as it exits. Fund one
<v Speaker 2>of his movies on DVD or something very curious to
<v Speaker 2>an am Borie has been introduced is endo kokichi. Oh
<v Speaker 2>this is great. This is the scene.
<v Speaker 3>This is this This scene in the movie is the
<v Speaker 3>one that I remember most of all. Honestly, God, no
<v Speaker 3>other movie, no other scene in the movie. Like I
<v Speaker 3>was when I was skimming through the movie, I was like,
<v Speaker 3>oh fuck, yeah, I always remember this scene. I was like,
<v Speaker 3>I went to find the scene because I thought it
<v Speaker 3>was so ridiculous being meeted and greeted.
<v Speaker 2>Now we're getting some wrestling action between Yama and Rookie
<v Speaker 2>Doze in hip hop.
<v Speaker 3>He's not in the ring. It's just an exhibition with
<v Speaker 3>his dot in his dojo.
<v Speaker 2>Oh okay, nor the other guy is right from his vantage.
<v Speaker 2>Then I know one of them is Yama. Oh there
<v Speaker 2>he is. There's that bring side Rookie does in observing trading.
<v Speaker 3>It's to me this this is like this is wrestling,
<v Speaker 3>and this is wrestling without a real purpose, like back
<v Speaker 3>and forth, right, I know exactly, trading blows, move after move,
<v Speaker 3>double double clothes. I can get right back up, No
<v Speaker 3>cell He's not happy though, Ricky Dozon.
<v Speaker 2>Everyone's clapping for the foolishness on display. I guess people
<v Speaker 2>are doing an exhibition. People in the in the in
<v Speaker 2>the background and outside, crowded at the gym doors. Oh
<v Speaker 2>arm lock on a wristlock rather twice over, that's right,
<v Speaker 2>Oh oh, Ricky doss pistol. This guy's are doing more.
<v Speaker 2>Here we go?
<v Speaker 4>This is it.
<v Speaker 2>Would like this. He whips him in massive, massive chop.
<v Speaker 5>This guy.
<v Speaker 3>This guy's bumping for the industry. Wait, it gets even better.
<v Speaker 3>It gets even better. Vin just telling him to to
<v Speaker 3>knock it off. He's going fucking northern lights, super b
<v Speaker 3>ws this.
<v Speaker 2>Fucking chomping him in the corner, still going. Those chops
<v Speaker 2>are pretty differ an actor. I'm not even half done yet.
<v Speaker 3>Watch this.
<v Speaker 2>This guy is totally gets abused.
<v Speaker 3>The kid is crying like, I don't know what happened, Like.
<v Speaker 2>Why was he so mad that the guy wasn't fighting back?
<v Speaker 2>I guess like because it's not off to par with
<v Speaker 2>his wrestling talent. Dark moment for Ricky Doze in that
<v Speaker 2>wouldn't be the only one.
<v Speaker 7>He's a lapsed fan wrestling podcast with Jack and m
<v Speaker 7>JP Sorrow.
<v Speaker 1>He's a lapsed fan wrestling podcast.
<v Speaker 6>Isn't that seaweed?
<v Speaker 3>He said, it's medicine for your brain, you fucking idiot. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>the fucking idiot was a surprise. The fuck is the
<v Speaker 3>matter with you? Fucking loser?
<v Speaker 2>It's funny.
<v Speaker 3>The four movies that he made all have Rinky Dozan
<v Speaker 3>in the title. What Yeah, I should see what.
<v Speaker 2>They what they mean? Oh you mean Ricky Dozan himself?
<v Speaker 3>Yah?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, I mean I know how many people would
<v Speaker 2>give up their life for you? One stop.
<v Speaker 3>One movie called I'm Out of College. That's not a
<v Speaker 3>porn could be for all I know, M not the name.
<v Speaker 2>Being told. Trust is never easy to get back once
<v Speaker 2>you lose it. People are always under the learning tree.
<v Speaker 2>In Japanese cinema always, or Korean cinema or Asian cinema,
<v Speaker 2>there's always some guy saying things about life.
<v Speaker 3>Ricky Dozan Iron Armed Giant, that's his first movie.
<v Speaker 2>Wow, this is weird. Riggy Dozan repeatedly telling his sense
<v Speaker 2>guy here that he only trusts Western medicine and refusing
<v Speaker 2>this guy's offer of I don't know if he's carving
<v Speaker 2>the inside of a coconut or what the fuck.
<v Speaker 3>He's doing Tama City the man with remaining strength.
<v Speaker 2>So he's now visiting Nakajima, a crippled young boy. He's
<v Speaker 2>encouraging strongly to make the long track on his crutches
<v Speaker 2>to meet his beat out of him. Whoa potted plant
<v Speaker 2>fell off a balcony and Ricky Dozan isn't so sure that.
<v Speaker 3>Uh exactly what? How? What was that, dude?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, he says of the pot. Maybe it wants to
<v Speaker 2>be paid like an actor. Yeah, like you.
<v Speaker 3>Fraud. I can't believe they treat wrestling like a shoot
<v Speaker 3>in this movie.
<v Speaker 2>I know, don't.
<v Speaker 3>I don't like it.
<v Speaker 2>I don't like I can't trust the filmmakers at that point,
<v Speaker 2>you know what I mean? Like, I agree if they're
<v Speaker 2>willing to not be faithful about the truth of that matter,
<v Speaker 2>Like what truths are they also disregarding for the sake
<v Speaker 2>of human kind?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, or mankind or yeah?
<v Speaker 2>Just mc foley. Now he's waking up in the middle
<v Speaker 2>of the night, his paranoid, his whole coagin would have
<v Speaker 2>been what's going on?
<v Speaker 7>What?
<v Speaker 2>I would have been dead if that hit me?
<v Speaker 3>Brother?
<v Speaker 2>Did you see that?
<v Speaker 6>Brother?
<v Speaker 2>Twenty years later, the story becomes the time that stan
<v Speaker 2>Hansen tried to kill him in Japan by throwing even
<v Speaker 2>though stan Hansen was nowhere.
<v Speaker 3>Do you see the Stan hand? Dude? I was here, brother,
<v Speaker 3>stan Hanson trying to kill me? Dude at home? Brother,
<v Speaker 3>when I wasn't in Japan? Dude? What's going on? Brother? Brother?
<v Speaker 3>Would you? Did you? Brother?
<v Speaker 2>Did you what was did you have?
<v Speaker 3>Did my mom?
<v Speaker 1>What?
<v Speaker 3>Brother?
<v Speaker 2>Are you? Are you eating something? Yes? Are you taking
<v Speaker 2>out the trash?
<v Speaker 3>Dude?
<v Speaker 5>What's going on.
<v Speaker 4>Now?
<v Speaker 2>All of a sudden, the packs to happy Right now?
<v Speaker 2>Is Ricky Dozanna sitting for a photo shoot?
<v Speaker 3>Oh? Yeah, yeah, Well I like that shirt. It's like
<v Speaker 3>Larry David shirt there.
<v Speaker 2>Pretty cool. It was the Japanese Jackie o Nassas. There
<v Speaker 2>was a story read that the two of them.
<v Speaker 3>Spent so much time together the the actual act you know,
<v Speaker 3>uh uh, the actor and actress that they were totally
<v Speaker 3>tired of each other over to the other, sick of
<v Speaker 3>each other.
<v Speaker 2>Now he's gonna pound the uh model, he just did
<v Speaker 2>the photo shoot. He's gonna fuck her so hard yep,
<v Speaker 2>bend her over. It literally has Tony Soprano's bedroom. Oh
<v Speaker 2>where do I and hook it? He says, of her
<v Speaker 2>bral Well, it's not a it's not a leg. He
<v Speaker 2>doesn't know how to hook it. I was beating her.
<v Speaker 2>Oh some time before, he expected not hyfy.
<v Speaker 3>Oh no, it's this guy.
<v Speaker 2>Oh, I bet it's uh. Kimura hands him the Newspapera
<v Speaker 2>and Mora challenges Ricky dos And says wrestling is fake.
<v Speaker 3>Do you see that?
<v Speaker 2>Are you all right? He asks Ricky dos On, just
<v Speaker 2>destroy this woman.
<v Speaker 3>I'll show you what's fake. I didn't say anything. Look
<v Speaker 3>at Joe Adams.
<v Speaker 2>It's a meeting now again with the Sumo brain Trust.
<v Speaker 2>Everyone seated, criss cross apple sauce. We're trying to figure
<v Speaker 2>out what to do about this Kimora challenge.
<v Speaker 3>Three fights, okay, all you get to win the last fight.
<v Speaker 2>No matter what, he says, they're working here. Japanese pArg
<v Speaker 2>wrestling is Brickie Dozon's wrestling, he says, says, No, it's
<v Speaker 2>my wrestling.
<v Speaker 3>Wouldn't been yourselves since you said the thinking all that
<v Speaker 3>Western medicine.
<v Speaker 2>Must have been a thing. Called cocaine, right, do you
<v Speaker 2>think that's what that is? As a reference to drugs,
<v Speaker 2>it might be like recreational drugs. Just people come to wrestling,
<v Speaker 2>come for Brickie Dozon. Nobody can robout that.
<v Speaker 3>Here going? Where are you going? Mm? Well then may
<v Speaker 3>it stick sells receives the first.
<v Speaker 2>These older Japanese guys always talking proverbs all the time.
<v Speaker 2>Yoshi Machi. Yes, what you called Yochi Lessie or Yochi Machi?
<v Speaker 2>He is fucking Greg from succession. Oh oh oh oh yeah,
<v Speaker 2>oh yeah, I'm sure. Well okay, but I just have
<v Speaker 2>a minor concern. Am I going to be in trouble?
<v Speaker 2>He gets his fucking he's torn apart, Triple Triple h
<v Speaker 2>gets in his face, Triple Tom, Triple Tom exactly. So
<v Speaker 2>now he's back at the gym, Ricky does on and
<v Speaker 2>talking all the trainees. Mister Murrow, he's taking reporters. Mister
<v Speaker 2>Morris's rest is not a sport that he was beating
<v Speaker 2>up according to script last time. Ah wow, he's gotten
<v Speaker 2>the hard questions. I guess the editors over there, do
<v Speaker 2>you think show sir give it to them?
<v Speaker 3>What are you comment on that?
<v Speaker 6>Not ales in?
<v Speaker 2>And they all laugh together because it's fake. See they
<v Speaker 2>they do kind of address it, but in the throes
<v Speaker 2>of the match scenes they don't act like they're cooperating.
<v Speaker 2>But he did now, but he did pass bart gun money?
<v Speaker 3>Uh oh oh is fake.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, he's demonstrating a kimoro lock. Look here, your bones
<v Speaker 2>will snap if this spends more than fifteen degrees. He
<v Speaker 2>just grabbed an innocent and walk on the arm lock
<v Speaker 2>and the presses like, don't do it, just as boxers
<v Speaker 2>use boxing gloves. He tells the assembled media, do you
<v Speaker 2>get arms, Yeah, just a boxer's box.
<v Speaker 3>We bring arms. You are right, but please someone give
<v Speaker 3>him his money. He gets a great job selling the Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>fake injury. I don't care if he's the god of judo.
<v Speaker 3>Let's see who fight.
<v Speaker 2>It's better. Ricky Doson declares, we go. It's on now.
<v Speaker 2>There will be.
<v Speaker 3>Shooting Ricky doo.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, that's it. Yes, I want water babbling through like
<v Speaker 2>an indoor, like little water.
<v Speaker 3>Hello. Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Joson comes to the table and Masahiko Kumora is seated
<v Speaker 2>with some of the other brain trust. It's time to
<v Speaker 2>work out a finish, brother, It's time to work out
<v Speaker 2>a fucking finish let's book the match. Who's agent in
<v Speaker 2>this match? That's the big question. Now he's off to
<v Speaker 2>Briscoe's room to learn what to do if it turns
<v Speaker 2>into a shoe.
<v Speaker 3>Ah, here we go, mister Dozan. It's me Kee Machine Rock?
<v Speaker 3>What ken him? Rock?
<v Speaker 2>Was his real name name? Oh it's a flashback. Oh no, No,
<v Speaker 2>he's somebody who would have known him in his prior life.
<v Speaker 3>Buddy, who is he's a brother roller?
<v Speaker 7>What?
<v Speaker 2>That's something? Man eating? Sitting down? I can never get
<v Speaker 2>used to that. I couldn't.
<v Speaker 3>I mean, my, my, my, If I sit criss cross
<v Speaker 3>apple sauce like that for like five minutes, my legs
<v Speaker 3>fall asleep.
<v Speaker 2>Right there's that.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, and then I'm like feeling fucking weird. Oh I
<v Speaker 3>could go what are they eating? I could go for
<v Speaker 3>some of that.
<v Speaker 2>That's a Korean barbecue. Does fuck we're cooking it on
<v Speaker 2>the spot. I love that.
<v Speaker 3>I haven't been I haven't been with Korean barbecue years.
<v Speaker 3>Give me wow.
<v Speaker 2>But he's telling me signed onto the repatriation North Korea
<v Speaker 2>projects in North Korea is now succeeded. Oh it's pulgogi.
<v Speaker 2>I knew it, and I love a slurping of tea here,
<v Speaker 2>I'm the Jews that you're Korean? Isn't it time to
<v Speaker 2>say that you're Korean?
<v Speaker 3>He throw your food at him?
<v Speaker 2>Right now?
<v Speaker 3>Do it? Throw your fucking food at him.
<v Speaker 2>Here's the answer to that question. No, Oh, what did
<v Speaker 2>Korea ever do for me?
<v Speaker 3>Comes back? Oh, this is the best actings on the
<v Speaker 3>whole movie.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, if I stayed home, I would have ended up
<v Speaker 2>cannon fodder in the Korean War. He rebuts, my only
<v Speaker 2>choice would have been whether the bullet in my head
<v Speaker 2>was American or Russian.
<v Speaker 3>He is chewing a long time the same. Does he
<v Speaker 3>have Gumlets see Kurt Hennig walking down to a match
<v Speaker 3>appear that way?
<v Speaker 2>Japan? Korea? He says, who cares about all of that?
<v Speaker 2>I'm roocky Dozon and I belong to the world.
<v Speaker 3>There's the theme of the movie right there.
<v Speaker 2>So yeah, he won't be saying he's Korean. That's quite
<v Speaker 2>a speech to give just because you're afraid to meet
<v Speaker 2>your Korean. Oh and then he's told you will die
<v Speaker 2>a lonely man. Well he isn't a pro wrestling business. Wow,
<v Speaker 2>He rebuts with who isn't alone? That's a line.
<v Speaker 3>Thanks for the meat bitch ship he's always eating, I mean,
<v Speaker 3>the pro wrestler, I get it, but god no, I
<v Speaker 3>want fucking Korean food so bad.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, yeah, you're right. I haven't gone one of those
<v Speaker 2>places since the pandemic.
<v Speaker 3>So here we go.
<v Speaker 2>It's the Ricky does On Maso Hiko Kumura match, a
<v Speaker 2>battle to decide who's the best fighter in all of Japan.
<v Speaker 3>The god of Judo.
<v Speaker 2>Ricky Dozing come out on top of this karate chop
<v Speaker 2>upper hand. Big those people they do, I know, big crots,
<v Speaker 2>lift and slam. He knocks back Ricky Doze in with
<v Speaker 2>a couple of bolo four arms wow, and a monkey flip.
<v Speaker 2>My kimura keeps him in the driver's sea Kamora going
<v Speaker 2>shoeless here against the black trunk Knky Doze on.
<v Speaker 3>We couldn't get him up all the way though for
<v Speaker 3>a smooth slam.
<v Speaker 2>I wouldn't expect a three there. But he gets it.
<v Speaker 2>No wait more, turns to his stomach looking at his
<v Speaker 2>promoter while trapped in the throes of a front face lock.
<v Speaker 2>And this is it what we just watched, where he
<v Speaker 2>gets out of the front face lock and goes nuts,
<v Speaker 2>goes into business fromself.
<v Speaker 4>There we go.
<v Speaker 2>He he does that move, not the tilted roll one,
<v Speaker 2>and then he keeps the head scissor wall on the
<v Speaker 2>canvas and starts stretching the arm and Kamara puts his
<v Speaker 2>foot on Doze.
<v Speaker 3>On his face, trying to kick him free. They are
<v Speaker 3>engaged in a test of strong.
<v Speaker 2>Really, you must have missed it, yes, or now they're
<v Speaker 2>portraying that kind of the dead air of what's going
<v Speaker 2>to happen next. Yes, And this is Doze and threatening
<v Speaker 2>with the chop just like we saw.
<v Speaker 3>Now we'll get the groin kick in a moment, hopefully,
<v Speaker 3>if if we're going to be accurate.
<v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, the weird lockups, yep, those tentative lock ups.
<v Speaker 2>That's an attempted hip throw that was blocked. And there
<v Speaker 2>it is to the crotch by Kimura, all the big
<v Speaker 2>slaps coming. He corners kaknock him down, two big kicks.
<v Speaker 3>Stop and referee.
<v Speaker 2>They're screaming. The announcers say this match had just gotten rougher.
<v Speaker 2>Kind of a snap mare and I was kicking the head,
<v Speaker 2>kicking the back of the head of Kimora, smacking him
<v Speaker 2>in the standing position, big knee drops him back.
<v Speaker 3>This is no match. This is pure brutality.
<v Speaker 2>Big over him.
<v Speaker 3>This is no match. This is pure brutality flying from
<v Speaker 3>his mouth.
<v Speaker 2>And that's exactly how Kimora collapsed in the corner. Now
<v Speaker 2>different move though it was a double slap that didn't Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Now there he is holding up the contract. This is
<v Speaker 2>a contract for a draw, signed by Amora himself, Dozon says,
<v Speaker 2>holding it to the to the press, Kimore acted like
<v Speaker 2>a coward. He had gangsters threatened me so we could
<v Speaker 2>get his draw. I think they got a draw as
<v Speaker 2>it was a good crowd. The draw contract was a
<v Speaker 2>scheme design to ruin me, he tells the press. It's fascinating. Wow,
<v Speaker 2>look at you Morris, messed up and now laying on
<v Speaker 2>the table backstage. It's fascinating that even this early in
<v Speaker 2>Japanese pro wrestling, the real media intrigue was around that
<v Speaker 2>line between reel and fake.
<v Speaker 3>You know, well, man, we told you we discovered it here.
<v Speaker 3>That has been going since the eighteen hundreds. Yeah, but
<v Speaker 3>even in Japan, I didn't realize that. Yeah, Davide Roth
<v Speaker 3>tell that everybody in that crowd believes it's real. Yet
<v Speaker 3>every single question on the public's mind is whether it's
<v Speaker 3>real or not, which tells me they are not convinced.
<v Speaker 3>A Japan has had a similar scandal around MMA on
<v Speaker 3>New Year's even the Horizon Fighting Organization. It was revealed
<v Speaker 3>that two of the fighters went in with an agreement
<v Speaker 3>not to try to defeat the other one in the
<v Speaker 3>first round and then start shooting in the second round,
<v Speaker 3>and at first it seemed like there wasn't any evidence
<v Speaker 3>that the promotion was necessarily in on it. And then
<v Speaker 3>subsequent to that, because there was a double cross, right,
<v Speaker 3>somebody did go on a business for themselves and knock
<v Speaker 3>the other guy out in the first round when he
<v Speaker 3>thought there was an agreement not to do that. And
<v Speaker 3>then the family of the guy who was double crossed
<v Speaker 3>put out a voicemail where the collusion was established and
<v Speaker 3>also evidence that the promotion knew about it, or at
<v Speaker 3>least he was saying, the promotion okayed.
<v Speaker 2>It big scandal, I didn't know. It's crazy. So we
<v Speaker 2>see here the scandal of working fights. Who this guy
<v Speaker 2>is he's seeing in the rain.
<v Speaker 3>This is Bogey? Who is this?
<v Speaker 2>That's his brother or whoever it was? Oh that guy again?
<v Speaker 3>I think is it?
<v Speaker 7>No?
<v Speaker 4>No?
<v Speaker 2>No, the guy that's that's the Greg character.
<v Speaker 3>Are you sure it doesn't look like him?
<v Speaker 2>It's him. They're both under umbrellas and the pouring rain
<v Speaker 2>talking about how something like talking about sons. It says,
<v Speaker 2>isn't it your son's birthday? I don't know either of
<v Speaker 2>these characters to have sons, but is rickaed do son?
<v Speaker 2>Is supposed to have a son?
<v Speaker 3>No, he was talking Ricardosan was talking to the other
<v Speaker 3>guy to Greg Oh.
<v Speaker 2>Okay, was that way? Yeah?
<v Speaker 3>This guy is now forever called Greg Oh.
<v Speaker 2>Absolutely Greg's Son Bakery.
<v Speaker 3>Ah, yes, I mean, would it be is that it
<v Speaker 3>feels weird to me? I don't know, but it seems
<v Speaker 3>weird to me that they would like there would be
<v Speaker 3>a traditional like cake baking bakery in Tokyo in nineteen
<v Speaker 3>fifty whatever. And I know that, like, uh, I'm sure
<v Speaker 3>there are sweets and other kind of you know, you know,
<v Speaker 3>dessert delicacies, but it seems funny. The cakes seems so
<v Speaker 3>not Japanese.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, you know, like the the Chinese do moon pies
<v Speaker 2>or wherever that moon pies. Those are the fucking god
<v Speaker 2>I feel bad for again what they're called moon pies
<v Speaker 2>A packet, prepackaged little things. Yeah, little DeBie moon cakes,
<v Speaker 2>moon cakes. Yeah, there's bakeries everywhere with those things just
<v Speaker 2>like this. That's the Chinese. I don't know about the Japanese.
<v Speaker 3>You do have.
<v Speaker 2>There is a kind of Japanese pastry. So now we're
<v Speaker 2>all having another meeting of the nw A here.
<v Speaker 3>It really is like all the all the Japanese promoters
<v Speaker 3>are here discussing what the plan is, right, does.
<v Speaker 2>He though, Yeah, there's plenty of up and these baked desserts.
<v Speaker 3>That are just like that, like regular cakes, like what
<v Speaker 3>we would say.
<v Speaker 2>One's called en mitsu a parfe with jelly. You have
<v Speaker 2>daifuku roll cake, cheesecake that are traditional I'm not talking
<v Speaker 2>about like yeah, wow, if we want blood. So they're
<v Speaker 2>plotting revenge for the Kamora Double shop in the ring
<v Speaker 2>actually arena ah, the's against Dick Bayer now in the mask,
<v Speaker 2>just going to take.
<v Speaker 3>It's all action these matches. You know, there's no like,
<v Speaker 3>there's no no downtime. Have you decided on a finishing move, Yokozuna.
<v Speaker 2>This is the Azumnami press conference. He's going to debut
<v Speaker 2>in wrestling now, I aha, it says Shamoto playing this role.
<v Speaker 2>They're all laughing at him doing wrestling, apparently in the
<v Speaker 2>media room. It's a joke. Now we see, uh Rookie
<v Speaker 2>does on post match bleeding injured. The World League poster
<v Speaker 2>in the back, which is the still continues to this day,
<v Speaker 2>the the All Japan Tournament, the world tag, the World League. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>dating back to the j w A. I think that's
<v Speaker 2>one of shoot and how Shimoto's robes he's wearing. It's
<v Speaker 2>all pissed off. Oh, none of the reporters a coming
<v Speaker 2>to Rickey does on his locker room. They're all going
<v Speaker 2>to osnam namies. So he just made his debut. He's
<v Speaker 2>a bigger story. Oh oh what that means? Into the
<v Speaker 2>press conference, steps Doze on.
<v Speaker 3>He's a national hero.
<v Speaker 2>What the fuck are you? Yeah? Okay, says I can
<v Speaker 2>see we could do on here to congratulate this man
<v Speaker 2>on his debut in sixty one, The better tells us.
<v Speaker 2>He sits at the dais and takes questions. He recalls
<v Speaker 2>wow Azubanami bringing him steward noodles many times when they
<v Speaker 2>were turning for sumo.
<v Speaker 3>Ah, so I remember, Yes, that's what all wrestlers remember.
<v Speaker 2>So all you remember is eating. He says, everyone has
<v Speaker 2>a good chow telling the simple media about Azuminami and
<v Speaker 2>say you may become a bigger star than Ricky does On.
<v Speaker 2>Certainly Rookie Doeson wants to hear. Is wrestling is a
<v Speaker 2>sport where you stand by yourself. Ricky doshonss oh Rotter
<v Speaker 2>declares that even the great Rickey Doson seems scared of
<v Speaker 2>the yo Kozuna.
<v Speaker 12>I don't know.
<v Speaker 2>Why no one with a big fat belly can become
<v Speaker 2>a great wrestler, he says, And that gets the immediates attention.
<v Speaker 2>Someone tell that to uh everybody, all guys. It's a
<v Speaker 2>strange scene. It's very strange because the hush smote character
<v Speaker 2>hasn't even been flashed out. We saw him. But it's
<v Speaker 2>not clear to me why Ricky Dozon would like be
<v Speaker 2>so pissy about.
<v Speaker 3>All this pissy that he's not got the focus of attention. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>I mean, what's the most important thing a wrestler can be? Ye?
<v Speaker 3>What do they care about most? Their spot?
<v Speaker 2>It's correct cut to interior and ring, right.
<v Speaker 3>I mean there must have been obviously a person I
<v Speaker 3>don't someone recall there being in what I read, there
<v Speaker 3>was not really a person who was like this is
<v Speaker 3>this promoter character.
<v Speaker 2>No, it's like Bobby Bruns.
<v Speaker 6>Yeah, really is.
<v Speaker 2>He's Japanese and he just made reference to WICKI does
<v Speaker 2>On wants his shares. That's right. H what's the the
<v Speaker 2>character's name kno kayoconno Okay looks like it's a character
<v Speaker 2>creator for the movie.
<v Speaker 3>It seems like it's a bunch of different people in
<v Speaker 3>the one.
<v Speaker 2>J W I would later splinter into New Japan and
<v Speaker 2>all Japan and with an Oki going one way and
<v Speaker 2>Baba going the other. Ricky Doson essentially selected Baba and
<v Speaker 2>Anok to be his understudies. Ricados On being told he's
<v Speaker 2>made enemies out of too many people. I one prog
<v Speaker 2>wrestling for Japan itself, not just for Ricky Dozon. The
<v Speaker 2>promoter says, you, is it sure that Uzumnami can maintain
<v Speaker 2>the popularity of pro wrestling after you you don't know? Ship?
<v Speaker 2>Are you telling me to retire? Ricky dos And asks, yes,
<v Speaker 2>as you say, the w w F is only big
<v Speaker 2>enough for one of us, so he's being four stout
<v Speaker 2>a hero never retires. He comes back with, Okay, I'll
<v Speaker 2>tell you that Leezer Ship LEAs your suit in that
<v Speaker 2>open collar and that bandaged forehead looks like he just
<v Speaker 2>finished challenging Jack Briscoe in Tampa nineteen seventy five. Think
<v Speaker 2>on that, damn right, bitch, what are you gonna do?
<v Speaker 2>Ricky Dozon? Will you exit stage left? Freaky yesal echo house?
<v Speaker 2>Huh what's the fucking plan?
<v Speaker 3>What this is?
<v Speaker 2>Okay? Back at his girlfriend's house, he's very confusing his
<v Speaker 2>relations giving Greg some tea. She's like the social media
<v Speaker 2>handler for Kendall.
<v Speaker 3>It totally is.
<v Speaker 2>He falls for Greg. How is he when he was young?
<v Speaker 2>He asks, looking at old pictures of Ricky Dozon.
<v Speaker 3>She says an asshole.
<v Speaker 2>Almost he's an asshole, but he pipes up. He heard
<v Speaker 2>the whole thing. He says, filthy, I was Korean emphasis
<v Speaker 2>onn was was no longer always hit the booze again,
<v Speaker 2>here we go. Of course he is no, he's no,
<v Speaker 2>he's not. I take that back. He's looking frantically through
<v Speaker 2>Draws for something. Draws is not in this movie? Oh,
<v Speaker 2>asking the girl? Are you looking forward to live happily
<v Speaker 2>ever after?
<v Speaker 3>No such thing? Not this movie.
<v Speaker 2>KNA told me to go back to myself. He says,
<v Speaker 2>interesting movie for a wrestling fan, kind of dull? Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>am I wrong?
<v Speaker 4>No?
<v Speaker 2>It's it's kind of slow.
<v Speaker 3>I do.
<v Speaker 2>I do remember that now watching this, I kind of
<v Speaker 2>feel like I'm kind of like, I kind of want
<v Speaker 2>to figure out how this resolves with this guy. I'm
<v Speaker 2>kind of done with his like self loathing. I'm ready
<v Speaker 2>for him to die. It's pretty much. He's got a
<v Speaker 2>lot of cool title belts though. Look at that shrine
<v Speaker 2>in his house ring magazine. Oh he just smashed a
<v Speaker 2>picture of him and the girl.
<v Speaker 3>Because he's an asshole.
<v Speaker 2>Yep, uh, he said, sir, calm down before he even
<v Speaker 2>did anything. Oh, he's clearing off his trophy case. Yeah
<v Speaker 2>he knew he was coming. Yeah, he's going nuts breaking ship.
<v Speaker 2>It's like Harry and Marv going through the Murphy's house.
<v Speaker 3>You know, for one of the great cat burglars, Marv,
<v Speaker 3>could you keep it down a little hat?
<v Speaker 2>I guess not. He's looking frantically for his medicine. Are
<v Speaker 2>they implying that he's like cooked on drugs?
<v Speaker 3>I think so.
<v Speaker 2>Maybe medicine is just poorly translated word for drugs. She's
<v Speaker 2>gonna blow them down, as you said, down, Oh they
<v Speaker 2>paint brushes. There we go, domestic abuse. She no sold it?
<v Speaker 2>Now I know what is really in your heart, She says, nothing,
<v Speaker 2>don't let her go. Yeah, such a growl. We talk.
<v Speaker 3>He's so angry all the time. This is what people
<v Speaker 3>said he was like though.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, right, flash forward beach.
<v Speaker 3>Exterior, beach day. Ricky Dozan is on his balcony thinking, brooding,
<v Speaker 3>wondering what is next to book the finish?
<v Speaker 2>Right, he just took some pills fuck.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah with with some booze at like seven in the morning.
<v Speaker 2>Maybe that's why the the cocktail the surgeon gave him
<v Speaker 2>didn't agree with Rickey dos An. He probably had twelve.
<v Speaker 3>Or any cocktail he had wouldn't have worked well after
<v Speaker 3>the amount that he had when he fucking died.
<v Speaker 2>Place. This movie goes talking about this drug abuse. It
<v Speaker 2>wasn't really something that people said about Rookie Dozon. Is
<v Speaker 2>it that he abused drugs?
<v Speaker 3>I believe there was some. I mean I think there
<v Speaker 3>was overall abuse.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, So Greg just brought up a newspaper, he says,
<v Speaker 2>Rickiy Dosun receives metal from Red Cross. Body hit him?
<v Speaker 3>Hit him?
<v Speaker 2>Oh he did in a way. Let's have a party today,
<v Speaker 2>he says. Ricky doz N is back in a good
<v Speaker 2>mood because he's in the newspaper.
<v Speaker 3>That's right, what a life huh. Ricky Dozan was known
<v Speaker 3>to have many girlfriends throughout his lifetime. I was often
<v Speaker 3>known to see numerous women at the same time. Goddamn, right,
<v Speaker 3>he's collapsing on the beach here, the hell's going on?
<v Speaker 3>It's walking back happily with Greg and now he's on
<v Speaker 3>two knees. Totally Greg moment too. It's like fucking Tom
<v Speaker 3>doing something. Yeah, okay, you want to call somebody.
<v Speaker 2>Uh, it's nothing, I've I've just never been in a
<v Speaker 2>situation like this, and I that's his whole character.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, yeah, I mean it's fine, but I've just.
<v Speaker 2>Something went wrong.
<v Speaker 3>It's probably he's.
<v Speaker 2>Probably drugged out. Yeah, that's what they're not so subtly
<v Speaker 2>implying here. It's lying sleeping in the bed. That TV
<v Speaker 2>in the corner, like could be able to see anything
<v Speaker 2>if you turn that on, not to mention the crappy
<v Speaker 2>reception you'd get, Oh my god, more like a radio.
<v Speaker 2>It really is, is.
<v Speaker 3>Sud Really what he should do is have it attached
<v Speaker 3>to a ceiling.
<v Speaker 2>It's just such an easy prop though, to communicate, like
<v Speaker 2>time period like this.
<v Speaker 3>You imagine if they try to put that one up
<v Speaker 3>on the ceiling and it got broke loose and crashed
<v Speaker 3>down your face. I think weighs like one hundred pounds.
<v Speaker 2>Oh my god, he's back awake.
<v Speaker 3>That's good.
<v Speaker 2>That's a good sign. She's still buys his side for
<v Speaker 2>what it's worth. He had a dream. It's a regular
<v Speaker 2>Martin Luther king over here.
<v Speaker 3>It's like, what's what you know?
<v Speaker 2>What I mean, like, what's the dramatic arc here? What
<v Speaker 2>am I waiting for? Like I don't understand what is
<v Speaker 2>it him retiring? I mean, I know we got stabbed,
<v Speaker 2>so we know to some degree we're building to that.
<v Speaker 3>But I mean it's really yeah, I mean there's not
<v Speaker 3>much dramatic tension. It's like because I.
<v Speaker 2>Think there's a lot of unnecessary scenes in this movie.
<v Speaker 2>He's also hard to like, Yeah, you know he's not
<v Speaker 2>He's not a guy who.
<v Speaker 3>I want you to get. You don't want him to
<v Speaker 3>be a hero, but you still got to root for
<v Speaker 3>him in a way like that's that's the that's just
<v Speaker 3>simple storytelling. Otherwise you get I don't find myself rooting
<v Speaker 3>for him, not at all. You want him to fucking fail,
<v Speaker 3>but different you're not attached to the girlfriend, you're not attached.
<v Speaker 3>You know, everyone else is pretty. I would say the
<v Speaker 3>only other like three dimensional character is the promoter. But
<v Speaker 3>he's not likable because no, you know, he basically is
<v Speaker 3>now fuck Ricky Dozan.
<v Speaker 2>But yeah, like this scene right here between him and her,
<v Speaker 2>I feel nothing.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, because there's never been a love story between the.
<v Speaker 2>Two of them. Right then't even touch each other.
<v Speaker 3>He says, I wanted her, you know, he tells somebody
<v Speaker 3>that he wants her, but then it never you never
<v Speaker 3>actually see any real romance between the two of them,
<v Speaker 3>because the next thing, you know, he's telling your I'm
<v Speaker 3>going to Japan. You can leave me if you want to.
<v Speaker 3>I'm going whether you want me or not. I'm gonna
<v Speaker 3>probably fuck women while I'm over there, so have at it.
<v Speaker 2>He's telling him to back down and accept defeat, just
<v Speaker 2>this once to what in the face of what did
<v Speaker 2>she mean like by retiring?
<v Speaker 3>I think his body's broken down. Yeah, well, I guess
<v Speaker 3>that wasn't gonna happen.
<v Speaker 2>Back to the arena, they're beating traditional drums for a
<v Speaker 2>musical interlude. What if they're beating non traditional drums.
<v Speaker 3>What if they are like.
<v Speaker 2>Cutting edge drums that were not traditional at all. What
<v Speaker 2>if this was attitude in the NWA era. Well, is
<v Speaker 2>that a commode in the middle of the ring? Oh,
<v Speaker 2>what's happening to Ricky Dozon? Announcers say, Look who it is,
<v Speaker 2>rick Steiner. Look at that deep crouch lift and slam.
<v Speaker 3>God, talk about huge Jesus Christ this guy.
<v Speaker 2>Keep in mind.
<v Speaker 3>Uh uh the actor playing Ricky Dozan put on twenty
<v Speaker 3>five kilograms of muscle and he can't even come close
<v Speaker 3>to Rick Steiner.
<v Speaker 2>So thick shoulders are crazy.
<v Speaker 3>Oh, a couple of right hands in the corner chairs Now.
<v Speaker 2>Some just fed a chair to the dog face Kremlin
<v Speaker 2>and he just crowned Rickey Doz that I don't know
<v Speaker 2>if they're hitting chair with chairs and Ricky Dosan stay.
<v Speaker 3>I don't think so well. They did talk about it.
<v Speaker 2>If either, they will throw shit if it gets to matches,
<v Speaker 2>get too dull right sees his phony or not? You
<v Speaker 2>know what I'm saying, like based on what they've told us,
<v Speaker 2>it's hard to know what it looks like. Maybe uh
<v Speaker 2>uh Ricky Dozan is playing the Kimura part now, yes,
<v Speaker 2>he's selling like crazy. And the masked guy I don't
<v Speaker 2>know who this guy is is using the tag rope
<v Speaker 2>to choke him and biting him. He's referred to as atomic.
<v Speaker 2>What's that but del Wilkes, I don't think so. He's
<v Speaker 2>referred to as atomic commentary chair shot across the back
<v Speaker 2>rick Steiner.
<v Speaker 3>Rick Steiner is mister atomic.
<v Speaker 2>Oh, I see, so it comes to shoot yourmoto azunomnami.
<v Speaker 2>Whatever throws a flying head says or takes down rick Steiner,
<v Speaker 2>and the people like what they seem happy dozen to
<v Speaker 2>give the next generation the rub here.
<v Speaker 3>Wow, that's Szumo technique. Indeed, that's somo technique.
<v Speaker 2>All right, I'll say back from rick Steiner. Up with
<v Speaker 2>a series of open hand slaps and then the snap mare,
<v Speaker 2>the yokozuna tackle.
<v Speaker 3>Wow, he had with his body on the hot.
<v Speaker 2>Another shoulder block takes down rick Steiner. Sueplex looking it up,
<v Speaker 2>Here we go pay cover looks the leg. It's over
<v Speaker 2>with style points. He's the champion?
<v Speaker 3>What did he?
<v Speaker 2>I have no idea flash forward more matches or as
<v Speaker 2>probably the second fall. But how is he the champion?
<v Speaker 2>No clue? Oh, the bandaged head of Ricky Dozan getting
<v Speaker 2>rocked by the rematch. I was rematched, not a second fall?
<v Speaker 3>I see Oh he's biting. He's chewing on his face again.
<v Speaker 2>Oh god, Atomic is the mask guy. Oh that's supposed
<v Speaker 2>to be blasty then, right biding Ricky Dozen.
<v Speaker 3>I mean, I'm just saying, Uh, rick Seton's credit as
<v Speaker 3>mister Atomic in Wikipedia.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know if it's actually true or not. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>it's interesting. A lot of the punches, instead of landing
<v Speaker 2>with the stomping on the canvas, they land with the slap.
<v Speaker 2>It's like they're taking punch sound effects from like a
<v Speaker 2>typical movie fight scene and pretending that you hear that
<v Speaker 2>in a wrestling match. That was always like a difficult
<v Speaker 2>gap for me when seeing pro wrestling portrayed on the
<v Speaker 2>big screen. Was I agree relapsed rick stonner ripped him
<v Speaker 2>into the ropes and he fell instead of coming back off.
<v Speaker 2>Can somebody clean that corner? Turbaco padding, Jesus Christ, free.
<v Speaker 10>Yes, freaky do frecky doors, freaky door, Oh, freaky doo,
<v Speaker 10>beky doz, freaky doors, Yes, freaky dolls.
<v Speaker 2>I want I want you to dig deep. Freaky door,
<v Speaker 2>get yourself in a trance ky.
<v Speaker 9>Door, freezen, recky dozer, freaky do.
<v Speaker 3>I love it so much. Freaky door, Yes, freaky.
<v Speaker 2>Do in the movie showing him getting killed.
<v Speaker 13>Ozer Freaky Dozer, Freaky Dozer.
<v Speaker 2>Much no idea.
<v Speaker 3>I love when you do that.
<v Speaker 2>I always have and I always will. Freaky pretty inmitation fight.
<v Speaker 3>Yes, he's gotta keep going.
<v Speaker 2>Rick Standers kicking his ass. You know his girlfriend's voice
<v Speaker 2>is flashing in his head. Lose this match for me.
<v Speaker 2>He's really a dune dying here.
<v Speaker 3>Reky, wreaky, wreaky those here, it is.
<v Speaker 12>Bring us back, boss, Reky those wreaky those hand multiple
<v Speaker 12>karate joes and weaky thos.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, where did he get this purst of tower?
<v Speaker 12>Wreaky those hand come on thoes hands, weaky toes.
<v Speaker 2>Close on the top prop of the floor, goes to a.
<v Speaker 1>Tone of dolls had.
<v Speaker 3>Lancha. He's beating the ship out of his diner, cleared
<v Speaker 3>the top rope. Fuck you, fuck you, he says.
<v Speaker 2>Going crazy, chopping the ship out of anything that moves.
<v Speaker 2>It's fake that has to be kept in mind. Into
<v Speaker 2>the post.
<v Speaker 3>It really works at this point of.
<v Speaker 2>Every time he puts rick Steiner's head into the table
<v Speaker 2>bostar and plays.
<v Speaker 3>That's a lot of fun.
<v Speaker 2>So I guess the promoter man was expecting Ricky Dozon
<v Speaker 2>to roll over and not fight that hard. But it
<v Speaker 2>wasn't to be. He saw that little kid cry in
<v Speaker 2>the audience and that was it. More time, such a
<v Speaker 2>good point. I went back, So did Rickie Dosa.
<v Speaker 3>I think he's back.
<v Speaker 2>On the premises.
<v Speaker 7>He's a lapsed fan wrestling podcast with Jack and Carnaco
<v Speaker 7>and JP Sorrow.
<v Speaker 1>He's a lapsed fan wrestling podcast.
<v Speaker 3>I went back.
<v Speaker 2>Oh, he's in trouble. It's facing the cono again. Ricky,
<v Speaker 2>why didn't you lose? Okay, then an agreement that he
<v Speaker 2>do the j O B on the PBV. I apologize,
<v Speaker 2>but I and get used to the idea of losing.
<v Speaker 3>Brother.
<v Speaker 2>You're in the right business. This movie makes Hogan very uncomfortable. Brother,
<v Speaker 2>you don't think see or everyone's trying to tell me
<v Speaker 2>to lose.
<v Speaker 3>Dude, I'm up, what did you see? I just can't
<v Speaker 3>Why do you want me to lose? Brother? Right?
<v Speaker 4>Right?
<v Speaker 2>Progressing still needs Wicked dozen to get into the ring
<v Speaker 2>to bleed. He says Japanese pro wrestling needed a Zuminama
<v Speaker 2>to lose. They need me to fight and to win.
<v Speaker 2>A question of the future of Japanese pro wrestling here
<v Speaker 2>all right, all right, fine, fine. It's kind of weird
<v Speaker 2>how they pretend like Ricky Dozon like created Japanese pro
<v Speaker 2>wrestling with his own two hands. He was brought in,
<v Speaker 2>he was anointed the horse they would ride. I mean yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I mean, oh, he's doing Chavis.
<v Speaker 3>Head of the promoter. Dude just took a fucking sword
<v Speaker 3>on the holister like Leonardo the Ninja Turtle. He's pissed.
<v Speaker 2>Sticks in the ground in front of doz On. It's like, uh, broller, dude, what.
<v Speaker 3>You know.
<v Speaker 2>The thing is, he didn't create it, but he perfected
<v Speaker 2>it if you will. Yeah, for she embodied it, for sure,
<v Speaker 2>you know. But I'm just I'm not sure that Ricky
<v Speaker 2>Dozon would care this much as is portrayed in the
<v Speaker 2>film about the future of Japanese pro wrestling. He just
<v Speaker 2>cared about himself.
<v Speaker 3>I agree. I think he did too, but I think
<v Speaker 3>in but I don't know if you could admit get
<v Speaker 3>him to admit that he did. Yeah, you know.
<v Speaker 2>Other promoters. Kano was saying he will not take revengeance
<v Speaker 2>vengeance upon Ricky Dozon for not following the script. He said,
<v Speaker 2>it's over, it's over. Jenny, Well, that's a good thing
<v Speaker 2>in wrestling though. That's a good thing. MM will no
<v Speaker 2>longer meet Ever again. He tells Riocky does in all right,
<v Speaker 2>that's the way you want to be. That that comeback
<v Speaker 2>scene when you're doing the rookie does on song. That
<v Speaker 2>was like him the first season of The Contender, that
<v Speaker 2>boxing reality show it's Sylvester Stallone was part of.
<v Speaker 3>Didn't didn't didn't Di di didn't didn't?
<v Speaker 12>Oh?
<v Speaker 3>Oh ready doosen reacky.
<v Speaker 5>Ten?
<v Speaker 2>In sixty three back in the arena, someone's been carried
<v Speaker 2>back in a stretcher of people going nuts. We're in
<v Speaker 2>the locker room. Dozon is busted open, Kimial what happened?
<v Speaker 2>My timing was off, busted wide open. Then are ailing
<v Speaker 2>in the locker room for a sport that's fake. You
<v Speaker 2>can't stop broadcasting wrestling. Greg tells him it was pro
<v Speaker 2>wrestling that saved Japan. TV saved it.
<v Speaker 3>There's nothing every looks to baseball.
<v Speaker 2>Everyone's talking about baseball these days, and then there's the
<v Speaker 2>Olympics next year. I mean, come on, kid, the TV
<v Speaker 2>programmer here, I forgot sax. We're going to be in
<v Speaker 2>three colors in two days. The Japanese Dick ever saw
<v Speaker 2>so I guess wrestling's on the wayne. Is that what
<v Speaker 2>we're supposed to interpret here?
<v Speaker 3>That seems possible?
<v Speaker 2>Te your empty ring? Greg steps out of the apron.
<v Speaker 3>Olympics, Olympics more like it?
<v Speaker 2>Am I right?
<v Speaker 13>Greg?
<v Speaker 3>Am? I right?
<v Speaker 13>Greg?
<v Speaker 3>Oh?
<v Speaker 2>Sure, ninety four countries will be our competition. So they're
<v Speaker 2>just even struggling for acceptance in Japan, where we all
<v Speaker 2>here in America think that wrestling has such a clear
<v Speaker 2>place in the sports culture. And a lot of this
<v Speaker 2>movie is about how they get absolutely no respect in
<v Speaker 2>Japan at all. I know, right, they didn't have to
<v Speaker 2>deal with that.
<v Speaker 3>I mean, it gets no it gets no respect from
<v Speaker 3>people who are smart.
<v Speaker 2>Essentially, I'm smart enough to the business, you know, people
<v Speaker 2>who know about it like this is stupid. That's about
<v Speaker 2>a subject of fascination to me. What the general Japanese
<v Speaker 2>public actually thinks about pro wrestling as a sport. You know,
<v Speaker 2>more sports newspapers all forced to enjoy it.
<v Speaker 3>So hard. You know what if you don't, if you
<v Speaker 3>don't like wrestling, they were not show any other fucking
<v Speaker 3>shows on TV. What are you doing? Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
<v Speaker 3>I get it, I get it. I get it.
<v Speaker 2>Okay, Hey, you pit me, hit him, hit him, hit
<v Speaker 2>him so fucking hard.
<v Speaker 3>This is awkward.
<v Speaker 2>They're just as count there by hercue does in one,
<v Speaker 2>two three, they'll playful wrestling too, sullenly uh mark a
<v Speaker 2>turning of the page for the fortunes of the business,
<v Speaker 2>just like just like Americans had boom perigids in Japan,
<v Speaker 2>I mean, coinciding with television exposure right now, while wrestling
<v Speaker 2>exists and can still fill buildings, although due to capacity
<v Speaker 2>restrictions it hasn't in recent months. It's on in the
<v Speaker 2>middle of the night as far as I know in Japan,
<v Speaker 2>and it's not our major networks, but still the results
<v Speaker 2>are covered in the sports pages, and it's like the
<v Speaker 2>matches are written about as if they're real, even though
<v Speaker 2>nobody thinks they are. But you'd never get in America
<v Speaker 2>since the fifties, Well, yeah, that's true. I guess I'm
<v Speaker 2>even even then. They're called the grunt and grown business. Right,
<v Speaker 2>there's a sports section and then the grunt and grown section,
<v Speaker 2>mostly grown. What's he calling back to his childhood home
<v Speaker 2>or something? Where is he daycare center? Yeah, he's moving
<v Speaker 2>into the daycare center. He needs someone to take care
<v Speaker 2>of him, moving too the day care center.
<v Speaker 3>I enjoy his zoot suit though.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, that's always on point in that regard how rember
<v Speaker 2>more crossroads? Is this guy going to be at the
<v Speaker 2>whole story is a crossroad? But his first girlfriend, I
<v Speaker 2>don't know that mama son is but I got yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I guess he was protecting he does on his X
<v Speaker 2>from her son. Oh no, it's her. There's a complete disaster,
<v Speaker 2>he see. I feel nothing for her, like at all,
<v Speaker 2>because you don't know what he did, Like, what did
<v Speaker 2>he what?
<v Speaker 3>What did he ruin for her? We don't really know.
<v Speaker 2>How did he win her over in the first place?
<v Speaker 2>He barely even a he awarded her.
<v Speaker 3>Oh, here he is.
<v Speaker 2>In the jazz club, tie undone, drunk, all these dames
<v Speaker 2>hitting on him.
<v Speaker 3>I know that dands.
<v Speaker 2>He's about to get shanked, boss. That's how it ends.
<v Speaker 3>The one. There's a there's a there's a cool little
<v Speaker 3>story about the about this final fight where the actor
<v Speaker 3>who plays Uh Marata does not so uh to make
<v Speaker 3>the scene authentic as possible.
<v Speaker 2>Uh the soul playing Ricky Dozan decided not to introduce
<v Speaker 2>himself to the actor playing Marata before they shot the
<v Speaker 2>scene and just beat the ship out of him, just
<v Speaker 2>like when all at it to kind of create this
<v Speaker 2>a reality about the scene, so we'll see if it works.
<v Speaker 2>Oh so what we're about to see is a shoot
<v Speaker 2>you mean, yeah, more.
<v Speaker 3>Or less, and the idea that it wasn't really planned.
<v Speaker 3>And and he was just told like, you should beat
<v Speaker 3>the crap out of him, and you should like meet
<v Speaker 3>him so you know who, so he can know who
<v Speaker 3>who's beating the crap who you're beating the crap out
<v Speaker 3>of him. Then he's like, well, I'm not going to
<v Speaker 3>meet him, but I'll beat the crap out of him.
<v Speaker 2>So got it. So we just stumbled off the dance
<v Speaker 2>floor drunk as the skunk. In the bathroom he goes
<v Speaker 2>and there is baratah bang. They shoulder bump each other.
<v Speaker 2>He said, I'm sorry, and Bara realizes who it is. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>he got my cock. Yeah, fock's your problem. He's been
<v Speaker 2>as weird as you possibly could be. Right now, this
<v Speaker 2>other guy smiling.
<v Speaker 3>You, Why are you grinning? Brother? It's the whole right hand.
<v Speaker 2>I have a big fan of you, who hired you,
<v Speaker 2>Ricky dozen so paranoid that he's out to kill him?
<v Speaker 2>Let me go, you're here to kill me?
<v Speaker 3>Right.
<v Speaker 2>No, he screams as Rickey does, end lays in the knees.
<v Speaker 2>He's abusing him like he did Kimura. That's kind of
<v Speaker 2>a theme with Ricky dozen. Every time he shoots on,
<v Speaker 2>somebody ends up paying more of a price than oh
<v Speaker 2>big time slaps help me. He's screaming, this fucking pissy,
<v Speaker 2>this fucking pussy gangster here. Yeah, he's crying. I didn't
<v Speaker 2>expect this portrayal. I expected a more hardened gangster. Not
<v Speaker 2>somebody's screaming like this, never meet your heroes, Boss Jesus
<v Speaker 2>Christ's killing him.
<v Speaker 3>Plunge the knife in. So again it's done with more
<v Speaker 3>like self defense in an accident, and this.
<v Speaker 2>Guy is a total victim here. I much more was
<v Speaker 2>thinking the portrayal would be takes off with blood in
<v Speaker 2>his hands.
<v Speaker 3>The portrayal would be damn, how stupid of me? Oh good?
<v Speaker 3>Why much? What he's saying?
<v Speaker 2>He's having a monologue here, what hast thou done? I
<v Speaker 2>pictured the guy being more hardened and stepping to doze
<v Speaker 2>in and being like you really want to fuck with me?
<v Speaker 2>And then stabbing him, you know what I mean? Not
<v Speaker 2>screaming for his life.
<v Speaker 3>It hasn't snowed.
<v Speaker 2>In a while, we have faded to black, so time
<v Speaker 2>has passed. He's in the hospital looking out the window
<v Speaker 2>at the snow interior. Yeah, I'll say.
<v Speaker 3>Day snow.
<v Speaker 2>One of his muscle men comes in and says, I'll
<v Speaker 2>find and kill whoever did this to you, the students.
<v Speaker 3>This is weird.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know what I'm supposed to be feeling right now.
<v Speaker 3>I'll tell you that that's that is the That is
<v Speaker 3>probably the the biggest issue I have is that there's
<v Speaker 3>not much feeling. It's so much more about the presenting
<v Speaker 3>the facts as yes, exactly potentially happened, and not actually
<v Speaker 3>creating an emotional arc.
<v Speaker 2>That's correct. I can see why this movie didn't make money.
<v Speaker 2>Like he's so nostalgic for his Korean childhood. We never
<v Speaker 2>saw his Korean childhood. We never saw Citizen King. That's
<v Speaker 2>exactly what it is.
<v Speaker 3>Though.
<v Speaker 2>He wants that fucking sled. Sorry spoiler alert for all
<v Speaker 2>you motherfuckers.
<v Speaker 3>That right.
<v Speaker 2>Japanese would think a Korean must be crazy, he says
<v Speaker 2>in this, looking up the window over the hospital room
<v Speaker 2>to walk around smiling when there was nothing to smile about.
<v Speaker 2>So they play this like dramatics. So I thought I
<v Speaker 2>had to make it big so I could smile. I
<v Speaker 2>thought I could smile all I want by making it big. Oh,
<v Speaker 2>sitting there listening, I would be the one who laughs
<v Speaker 2>the most at all of Japan until that day came,
<v Speaker 2>Thank you, I would not smile or cry. When I
<v Speaker 2>get out, I will build the Rickie Dozon Recreation Center.
<v Speaker 2>Ohs in Ginza, there will be a building which I've built,
<v Speaker 2>and that building will have the biggest billboard in Japan,
<v Speaker 2>Greaky do Then they will know that freaky I lived
<v Speaker 2>my life smiling all I want. Even after my.
<v Speaker 3>Death, Greaky Doo, he didn't smile at all. He couldn't
<v Speaker 3>do it. He still couldn't get the emotion out.
<v Speaker 2>This whole time, he has had no excuses, no emotions,
<v Speaker 2>because that was by designing. Everything starts over.
<v Speaker 3>Nowser now, Peky Dozer.
<v Speaker 2>Ricky doz And died from Perry tonightis following the stabbing
<v Speaker 2>Perry Saturnis Ay had died died soon after his death.
<v Speaker 2>Correct as they say in the.
<v Speaker 3>Hebrew, come on hurry, I'm hungry.
<v Speaker 2>This a heavenly vision of a welcoming him to the
<v Speaker 2>pearly gates.
<v Speaker 3>Hello, ah, always look at his is We've gone back
<v Speaker 3>in time? So that I was also like the fucking
<v Speaker 3>what's it called? The what do you call?
<v Speaker 2>Movie?
<v Speaker 3>A Devil's Advocate where they go back in time, you know,
<v Speaker 3>they basically start all over again, and he's got his
<v Speaker 3>top knot's and he's ready to give her a top nut.
<v Speaker 2>Correct. Let's see if you'll smile. Let's make a wish.
<v Speaker 3>Tims don't come true by praying at places like this.
<v Speaker 14>Not a holy man, Yes, weeky, Yes, hecky does.
<v Speaker 2>Reach New soaring heights.
<v Speaker 3>Geze.
<v Speaker 2>This is the movie if you're ever going to let
<v Speaker 2>it all out, if there was ever a time, it's
<v Speaker 2>under the cinemat Rocky Dozancky does.
<v Speaker 9>Freecky dolls, free.
<v Speaker 3>Freaky, freaky too.
<v Speaker 2>What did you pray for? He asks her. She's not
<v Speaker 2>telling me.
<v Speaker 15>Free yes, yes, Why is he looking like he's fucking
<v Speaker 15>uh Edward Redmaiden?
<v Speaker 2>Fucking thory of everything? It was stupid short ties. She
<v Speaker 2>wants the honor of taking a picture with a yokazuna,
<v Speaker 2>which is all he ever wanted to become. That's the
<v Speaker 2>best you can do for a fucking smile. That's the
<v Speaker 2>parting image of the film. Ah, looking like the sound
<v Speaker 2>of this parting images. That's it, that's it. Jesus Christ,
<v Speaker 2>she took the picture with the yokazuna. Is this the
<v Speaker 2>real picture of him? I don't think so. I guess
<v Speaker 2>that's like a charcoal sketches where it is boss.
<v Speaker 3>Speaky tools, recky doos and anyway he credits fucking roll.
<v Speaker 3>This was a weird one. I get it. It was
<v Speaker 3>a fucking weird one. Welcome to twenty twenty two, under
<v Speaker 3>the cinemat. We're uh, we're rocking, we're rolling. And we
