Let's talk about cover songs that might be better than the original. Although I do have trouble with this because I think every cover is obviously based on the original and it can't be better because it wouldn't exist with It's yeah, you say that, but sometimes it can be better. It's so different that maybe you like that style, it just wouldn't exist that. In said, here's what we're gonna do. I'm gonna play the two. We're not gonna do bet we're gonna do Which one would you listen to? Choice? Okay, because I just I struggle saying that a song is covering it's derivative of another song is better than what it's derivative of. With that theory, though, you can't say that, like Jacob Dylan is not better than Bob Dylan. You know what I mean? Like, yeah, you can humans are different because you're doing the Yes you are, Yes, I understand your analogy, but I don't agree. So we're going to do ten covers? And which one do we personally? If we will only get to listen to one? Okay? Alright? Number one? All along the watch Tower by both Jimi Hendrix and Bob Dylan. I don't even like Bob Dylan, but how good is this? Ready to crank? Up the Jimmy Hendricks. My vibe is just more of and I can actually understand Bob Dylan back in the day. You can't yet here Michael Jimmy Hendricks. I think most people think that the Jimmy Hendricks song I did until I found out it was Bob Dylan, probably when I was in college. Next up, Hurt by the original Nine inch Nails. Sound to see is how the audio released sounds was all it sounds with them. I know, I thought this was messing up, and I just went through the producer and everything. And then there's Johnny Cash. Hurt what he did later, hurt myself to to see it first, to see okay, on the count of three, all three of us, do you take nine inch nails? Johnny Cash? One, two three, Johnny Cash. I never was a big nine inch nails guy. I respected it, but then they had us all I want to blank you like an animal. Now. He spelt dirty when it was on they played like at the club. Yeah they would, and I'd be like, I'd back away from everybody. I don't. I don't know guys, all right. Next up Hallelujah, originally by Leonard Cohen. Hi Hi, Yeah or Jeff Buckley. Here you go. It has to be Jeff Buckley. Know how how is it not Jeff Buckley. I mean I would listen to song on repeat my sad days. I just went on you know what I used to do? You know that part where he's like and he holds it for like twenty two seconds. I used to test myself every single time, like I'm gonna beat you, Jeff Buckley. Well, let's see if we all picked Jeff Buckley one, two three, Jeff Buckley sell her baby. Danelle Towns would play this because she was opening for me when I was doing stand up. She would come out and play this, and she's so good and she would do this song and the whole crow I'd be crying yeah, and she'd be like, all right, next off with some Joe Good Bobby. We were backstage one time and she played it and I almost cried. All right, Next up the Man Who Sold the World originally by David Bowie, or from the Unplugged album, Here's Nirvana. I'll say this then Nirvana and Plugged records on my favorite records of all time. I'm easily gonna pick this. I think I didn't know about the David Bowie version. Until I started, I didn't know the end of the Meat Puppets were. Norbanda covered a bunch of songs in the Navanna Unplugged and that was one of them. So just know that I'm very biased. It's one of my favorite records ever. So I'm gonna say that, all right, David Bowie and Nirvana one, two or three Nirvana that you haven't kicked out, Joe, Lene, this is gonna be an easy one for us, but originally by Dolly Parton, Julie, Jolly, Jant Jo you know what, you love it. But the White Stripes had a really good version of it, Jess. No one's going to pick the White Stripes here. Mike might. No, but it's good like there's respect to the White Stripes because they did a good one there. Jan Jannis, respect for hidden that high note. You know this me and Bobby McGee's interesting because Roger Miller is singing it here. But Chris Ristoferson wrote it, yes, did he ever release it? I don't know. I thought he had said maybe saying it afterward. I feel like it should be between Chris, Chris Stofferson and Janice. But here's Roger Miller. Nothing. I mean, that sounds terrible compared to the Jannis Choplin version, but it's here's that Jannis Choplin. This was her first big hit and she was already there dead when he came out. She had that What say, Mike, I'm still looking it up. Okay, documentary is great on Netflix, The Janis documentary. That's really good. Yeah, he said. They talked to Christis Stops about the song and he was like, I heard it, and I was like, damn, it's good. And then he went to like find her and she had already died. Nana Na Na na as a as a brutal story though with her story and people were to her. Yes, I had no idea her and Jerry Garcia from The Grateful Day had a romantic relationship. We've got to San Francisco for a while. I learned that to that documentary, there's a good one. Huh what you got my Christmas? And never put it out? He did? That would be it? Um, you know, Roger Miller shout out, but Dannis killed that. I've never heard that version. I thought the Law and the Law run. Here's sunny, Curtis. Here is the Clash. You know, I'm gonna go with the Sunny Curtis version. Yeah. I liked the old school one. I mean I would hear that in a classic agradio more. Probably I love the Clash. I just like them. Oh yeah, should I stay here? Should I go? I wouldn't sound a big clash. I do like their music, so I'm going with them. Yeah, punk rock roots the Clash. Yeah. How about Mr tambourine Man originally about Bob Dylan. Mr tambourine Man, play a song for me, I'm not Sleepy or the Birds. That's a good matchup. It's really good. And who was in the Birds? Was he? Believe? So? Well, now you're Mike, will you look and see if I'm wrong? I wouldn't bet money that he wasn't. Really, Yeah, I'm I mean, I'm not how much money I waited you arty see it. I don't think he was in the Birds man. I was in Green Hall one time and one of the members of the Birds was playing there like a happy hour, and I had to well, this was before Google on the phone, so also I took his word for it, But then I went home and googled it. There was is Eric Clapton The Birds. Eric Clapton was in The Birds. Wow, way early, yeah, way early wow for like two month birds clapped. I mean, I mean you are Clapton fans. I shouldn't have bed clapped a niche. I'm a class you know a lot about him. Yeah, I mean I read his book. Well there you go, But why do you questioned me? He left them to go so low? So yes, very early. Bob Dylan or The Birds? Bob Dylan, The Birds? You know, I said it over and over again. I'm not really a Bob Dylan fan, but I pike a Bob Dylan A GI I think you're a Bob Dylan. Wonder Years? Wondering Years kind of probably wins this. Did you see there coming out with a new one. There's a whole new Wonder Years coming out with Don Cheetle is the narrator. I just saw a preview for it to be good. Yes, I'm gonna go with Joe Cocker, even though I think it's probably sacrilege to do that. I'm going Joe Cocker, I don't care, dude, I don't like the Beatles version and it goes singing it, so Joe Cocker, Joe Cocker, all right, final one respect originally about otis Redding. You'll read to Franklin so we know, we know what. Do you want to hear the backstory about this song? Yes, I was writing was Piste. She recorded it, and the song is originally about him going home. I want to have sex after it gets off work. That's what the song was written about. What you wrote about? He's like, I'm just asking from my you know, that's what That's what the song was. And it's weird when she sings it's a different twist. You don't get that vibe. Will you play the writing version to get mike you? Wow? I follow um and so they talked about Fresh Prince, Sonic the Hedgehog, but they had mentioned this, and I thought, wow, that is really interesting. So I found some other stuff here. But can you name the one hit wonder, Eddie that won two Grammys ninety seven? So I'm gonna go there in my head and was chumbawamba if chumba womba one Grammys I'm walking out of it. Why wouldn't they? That song was amazing. I get knocked down and then I get up again. But do people want to keep I mean, that's not it? Is it? It is not? Um Sonny came Home by Sean. I've been heard before. It's a fictional story a woman who burns down her house as a way of conquering the demons from her past. So that song had like a deep message to it. Grammy's oscars they like deep, stuffy Chumbawamba, the name alone of the band thumping. The song made it to number seven on the Billboard, had one hundred and it one Record of the Year and Song of the Year. So she popped like boom yeah, but never really had another hit man. She came out around the time that Lisa Lobe did you know? And I remember kind of confusing the two because I'm and then I did a little more sure. Lisa wasn't before her. It was around the I would say, like a few years, like three years around that. I loved Lisa Loan. I know, have you seen her in the new Geico commercial? Yes, and she looks the same the reality show Stay. So three years before it was around the same time, and I thought that Sean Colvin was like, oh, this is the new one from Lisa Lover or whatever. But man, yeah this that was the Sunny Came Home was really good. When you talk about crushes that you forgot about for me, really yeah. She had and miss You yeah, miss you? Oh yeah, that's right, and then she had stay, Mike, what do you have there from Lisa Lobe? Pull it up? Because I don't think listen, she's not an artist that has generationally stayed on the radio. No, no, she's not. And she had a lot of success for a while. What was her reality show? I think it was called like Lisa Lobe lobes You. Okay, I do remember that. She was like New York. I do remember that. I only you what I want to What else do you have from her? The feeling is pulling up losers even there, even all these radio stations in the building, they don't respect Lisa Lobe. I wonder if she's gonna play that song. But Sunny Came Home was the only one hit wonder to win Grammys. It beat out a few other one hit wonders. Where of all the Cowboys Gone? By Paula Cole? Yeah, John Wayne, where is my chats Uh? Where is my happy Ending? Where all the Cowboys Gone? And it was kind of like a weird wrap thing. I went down to the kitchen and I had some bell strap and yeah, that's all right. And she had um hair in her arms. Remember that here get pickty seven chtty somethinged, Oh take your calling. So this was up to go and wash the dishes? Well you hey, yeah, all right. So you said that Sunny Came Home beat beat this this song. It also beaten bought by Handsome Why wow. But that's the whole too cool factor right there. Probably handsOn is awesome. Um no doubts, don't speak, Come on. The song was. They had a lot of hits, but this was the big, big, big one for them. Um R Kelly's I believe I can fly Giants. This song was so good man yeah and lean rhymes how do I Live? And here you are you ready for this? And then when Seann Koby went on stage to accept her award for Song of the Year, she was interrupted by Kanye Old Dirty Bastard O d B storming the stage to complain that Wu Tang lost a Puff Daddy earlier in the night. Okay, please call down the music that everything everything said. Um, I went and bought me an outfit today that close to the line of money today. You know what I mean? Because I figured that who Tang was gonna win. I don't know how y'all said, but when they come to the children, will tank us for the children. We teach the children. You know what I mean. Puffy is good, but We'll Tang is the best. Okay. I want you all to know that this is O d BE and I love you all. Peace. Don't clap for him. Don't clap for the people on earth.
