Speaker 8: I think Florida obviously, with the you know, the coming off a national championship run, so obviously, you know, they they own the crown for right now, and they rebuilt in a really strong way, a lot of kind of question marks. Boogie Flann kind of leading the charge, replacing a Walter Clayton junior. It was a once in a lifetime kind of you know, March Madden. This run very up there with the Kimba Walkers, so like they're replacing quite a bit of talent. But they definitely belong in the conversation. Arkansas definitely belongs in the conversation. I think they they built that roster pretty well, and it's you know, a very typical.

Speaker 8: Money can be really cool for some people, and I think it was really cool for Denvil Abrity. No, And I think a part of it is when you are the sixth man of a National Championship roster and you compete and play a specific role, and you have the two guys three guys ahead of you that you know deserve that role before you, you kind of expect to step in and kind of take that role in the money that probably comes with it. So when you're at the negotiating table and you go all right, my time to shine, right, and Todd Golden goes, you know, how about this much in the same role that you had the year before, and it's like, well, that's not necessarily what I was kind of hoping. So yeah, I think that was definitely it was a hey, if we're not seeing eye to eye on roll and money, especially the championship boost that comes with you know, hey, I've a ring on my finger, pay me accordingly. I think that just kind of rubbed them the wrong way. It wasn't all about the money, but it kind of put a sour taste in their mouth to lead them to say, all right, well then let's look, let's explore our other options in Kentucky obviously an unbelievable option for the Aberdeen family.

Speaker 2: So do you think do you foresee Low, Otega and Aberdeen starting at the one, two, and three most of the season is that they are they locked in?

Speaker 8: I would not say Aberdeen is locked in. I would say Low is the absolute guarantee, Otega is the absolute guarantee, and I think Aberdeen maybe will start the year there. But I think Colin Chandler has something to say about that.

Speaker 8: I think they can get pretty creative at that spot, you know, knowing that Denzel Aberdeen is you is your only backup point guard option before disaster strikes, the way we had Amari Williams bringing the ball off the floor and things like that last year. He is your kind of go to guys, so you kind of got to save him a little bit and kind of keep those legs fresh and stagger their minutes the way they kind of hoped Lamont and Kirk Criso would stagger their minutes before Kerr went went down. I could I could see a similar scenario where he's off the bench, but he plays starter level minutes.

Speaker 2: You mentioned Colin Chandler out of the Amperv's kind of leaked out from these early He seems to be getting a lot of the praise, a lot of people talking about him. You expect a big jump from him.

Speaker 8: So fun backstory of the Colin Chandler experience. Right when Travis announced that he was hitting the portal, we were waiting on Trent Noah. You know, Trent no announced he's coming back. I get a phone call from somebody very close to Colin Chandler's circle, and I was kind of thinking, well, now is the time that I would be getting a phone call to say, Hey, I'm going to the portal.

Colin's not going No, why would we go into the portal Colin Colin is making a push for the starting job next year, We're not going anywhere.

Speaker 8: This is a let's let's let's talk about how how big Colin Chandler's sophomore season can be at Kentucky. So I thought that was just a very cool you know, they came in hungry. Being healthy was a big part of it. Last year, you know, had the hamstring thing and went down and missed so much time of the summer, and he was just coming off the two years away from the sport, right that It just that was just a big trial, you know, you know, seeing what happens in year one. Now he has been healthy, was out for just a little bit of time, but mostly healthy, and you know we can kind of see, you know, the end of the end of his first year playing as well as he did in March madness translating into year two picking up right where we left off.

You you heard, you know, rumblings that Otaga was just solid at this stage that last summer transitioning into the fall, and then it was September where Otaga were like, well he might be our best player. So we're still kind of waiting and seeing to see to see who emerges as at that that go to two spot. But I think he'll do some you know, backup backup point guard duties, but definitely manning that the main main two spots.

Going into March Madness up to that point, you're gonna see a lot of Mo Diabate at the four. But again, he's he is the the energizer bunny. He is the hey, whatever we whatever we need. He fill that role. So he He's gonna wear a lot of different hats. So I wouldn't even necessarily just say he's your go to four guy. I think there are gonna be times that he's playing up at the three, may slide down and play some small ball, you know, five in spot minutes. Definitely not a consistent, but he's gonna he's gonna have a big role for this year. But just don't you know, put him into one one little bucket so you know everybody in the thirteenth region. There's gonna want me to ask you then, So what is Trent Noah's role? You know, because he's the word is He's really improved by leaps and bounds. When they played the TBT team, the TVT guys were talking about him more than anybody as far as what he did in that scrimmage game.

Speaker 8: He's a guy that I heard just insane things about his his shooting ability. And you know, I think if you're thinking, who is gonna be the go to catch and shoot shoot guy on the team, Cam Williams was brought in to be that guy. But I think Trent Noah has just did so much over the summer to really just kind of like WHOA, We're gonna have to play you because he just makes the right plays. He always has a nose for the basketball, you know, getting getting effort for loose balls and and you know, crashing the glass. He just does a lot of the little things that I think we're at a point where it's like, you know, any other year, Trent probably is out of the rotation. But because of how hard he's worked and in the production he's found over the over the course of the summer again, building off of a strong freshman year when nobody really expected him to have the role that he ended up having. I think I think he's going to He's gonna be in that rotation. I don't know how high in the rotation, but he's he's gonna be in there.

Speaker 2: He earned these minutes last year by when every time he get on the floor it seemed to provide a spark. He'd be getting a loose ball or knocking the ball away, or getting a rebound or something. He brings that element that I think coming off the bench can give you a good weapon.

And for Cutter to have that poison again, Eastern Michigan is Eastern Michigan. But to have that poise and go in and you know, play as well as he did, I just think it was a missed opportunity. I think now is absolutely the time to move forward with Cutter.

It feels like the entire Vince Marrow era, we spent all of our time going why are we not targeting the tight Ends? Why are they not passing them the ball? And I kind of thought Katus's answer was a little I don't want to say it was a shot at Vince, but it was definitely went above and beyond to praise the new guy. Derek Shay the leading the charge, saying that you know, he is a person who said that in our private huddles of just the tight Ends that he'll like start crying, that the new tight Ends coach will start crying and just being like, guys, I'm so grateful to be here, I'm so invested, I'm so emotional for you guys, for us to get this opportunity together. And he said that the tight Caddis said the tight Ends want to play for him. It was just like, you know, this is a guy that we that we root for, that we're playing for. So it wasn't a shot at Vince, but it was definitely, hey, we have something to play for with this new guy in.

I think just getting open. I think that's been a big problem this year.

I think it's the Hey, we finally realize that our tight ends can be pretty productive and if you, you know, build it, they will come if you will with it with the tight ends, and I just I'm not seeing it yet with the receivers. We gotta we gotta figure that out, if there is any figuring out to do.

I mean, we had that guy that called in on the pre show last week who you said, you know, was a football coach and really knows the game inside and out, and he said it was the receivers just not being able to get open for whatever reason. I'm not sure why that is, but I think that's the big problem. I mean, if it's hard to target somebody when they're not open, and the receivers have to do their part, and I don't think they're doing that.

Our receivers were not getting open against Toledo defensive back. Now, he did mention a couple of guys that are going to be in the NFL, But if you can't get open against Toledo, how do you expect to get open against Eastern Michigan.

So scheme him open, figure find a way to get the ball in his hands and open space to to create those yards. And I think that's where the why, what is the missing very I do think that separation is a serious issue with the majority of the receivers. But you can't tell me that we can't create, you know, create some of these guys some opportunities.

He did catch one ball in the second half, but Kendrick Law, He's become the number one target on receiver. But I'm like, you maybe just a jet sweep something, just get the Bonnie's hands and just let him try to make a play.

Speaker 8: I think there was just a level of appreciation, you know, with him being back in Lexington and understanding that, yes, the year didn't end the way we wanted it too with the Wisconsin game, but that team accomplished so much together and you just kind of the built a culture of unselfishness and hey, I'm sacrificing my own personal accolades and stats for the greater good of the team to help win games. And I think Carl had that message saying that, hey, it's not me getting inducted into Hall of Fame, it's you know, and it's not even just Willie Colly's and Alex Poytheris. It's it's the Todd Lanterns and the Brian Longs and the Sam Malones that everybody kind of came together for one common cause and got us to a thirty eight o start that will never be touched ever again in the history of college basketball. So that was really cool, said that it's Nintendo sixty four was getting inducted as well, because that was obviously a big part of their journey together, kind of playing playing Super Smash Brothers in the dorm together and all that. So very very cool to see him back into Lexington and you know, five time NBA All Star, you'll get to talk to those those guys very often, So it was very cool.

I mean, Kayla Epps talking about how you know, I came in as Anthony Epps's daughter and I left is as you know, Anthony EPs is mckaylab's dad, So just very very cool for her to get her her props as well as kind of the early cobblestone of what you see with women's basketball right now with her under Kenny Brooks.
