<v Speaker 1>He'll be gon'll be bad. It's the Internet. You're busy.
<v Speaker 1>Let's do this for November fifteenth, twenty twenty I'm muting
<v Speaker 1>myself on that back cap of saying twenty twenty four,
<v Speaker 1>November fifteenth, twenty twenty four. For the next hour or so,
<v Speaker 1>let me help you sort through the world of gaming
<v Speaker 1>on Game Mess Mornings Live with me Jeff Grubb. Today
<v Speaker 1>we get our first glimpse at PS five pro sales,
<v Speaker 1>and Phil Spencer has more to say. But first, please
<v Speaker 1>join me and welcoming today's co host of Game Mess Mornings.
<v Speaker 1>It's Jesse Vittelli. Everybody, Jesse, mister Fateelli. How are you doing.
<v Speaker 2>I'm doing great. It's Friday, it's the end of the week.
<v Speaker 2>We've made it.
<v Speaker 1>We've made it.
<v Speaker 2>I'm ready to go.
<v Speaker 1>Everyone's here together. We did a lot of work this week.
<v Speaker 1>We're gonna do hopefully a little bit less work next
<v Speaker 1>week that would be ideal, and then even less the
<v Speaker 1>week after that, until eventually we do no work at all.
<v Speaker 1>In the meantime, though, we got to get some business
<v Speaker 1>done here. We'll get into all of that here pretty soon.
<v Speaker 1>But uh, I don't know, Jesse, how you feel about
<v Speaker 1>this year. You're in the rpg guy. A lot of
<v Speaker 1>good RPGs you have? You have you played through, like
<v Speaker 1>all of the big ones? Are you like getting into
<v Speaker 1>Dragon Quest three? Now? What's up? Yeah?
<v Speaker 2>So I have played most of the RPGs this year,
<v Speaker 2>Like I finished Infinite Wealth, Rebirth Persona three, Metaphor. I'm
<v Speaker 2>sure there's been Dragons, Dogma two I've made, you know,
<v Speaker 2>I've gone through them. I'm currently going through Dragon Age
<v Speaker 2>the Vail Guard. I'm about I think close to halfway
<v Speaker 2>through that, uh, and then once I finished that up,
<v Speaker 2>I will probably jump into dragon Quest time permitted. I'm
<v Speaker 2>also trying to catch up on like a million other
<v Speaker 2>games from this year, so, like I just finished riise.
<v Speaker 1>On Yeah Mouthwashing People don't know we played that weird
<v Speaker 1>fish horror game Fish Yeah on John bondm not too
<v Speaker 1>long ago, and this mouth washingt is the follow up
<v Speaker 1>from the same developers, I suppose. Yeah, Okay, so of
<v Speaker 1>those RPGs. A Killey said he was gonna They're gonna
<v Speaker 1>have the nominees uh for the Game of the Year
<v Speaker 1>on Monday. I think I don't have a new story
<v Speaker 1>about that, everybody, mostly because I don't care but I
<v Speaker 1>am interested in what Jesse Vitelli thinks of those RPGs
<v Speaker 1>are the most likely to be nominated for that Game
<v Speaker 1>of the Year category than you know, the big Award.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, so I think it's kind of between two right now.
<v Speaker 2>I think Rebirth and Metaphor are kind of the two
<v Speaker 2>front runners here, which I'm really happy that Metaphor has
<v Speaker 2>like a pretty good shot of getting nominated because I
<v Speaker 2>think it's a new ip. Obviously it's from like the
<v Speaker 2>X Persona devs, like you know it, it had the
<v Speaker 2>the the dev power behind it. But I'm really glad
<v Speaker 2>to see that it like stuck the way that it
<v Speaker 2>did because I really enjoyed Metaphor. I think Dragon Age
<v Speaker 2>maybe maybe sneaks in as that sixth sixty lot. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>because I think you have a pretty strong like Rebirth Metaphor. Blattro,
<v Speaker 2>I think, is you know, pretty high up on the chests.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. I think Blatro's on there right I think, like
<v Speaker 1>I'll be surprised at this point if Blatro's not nominated.
<v Speaker 2>They always have that like one indie game that like
<v Speaker 2>ends up in the running, like Your Stray or Your Hades.
<v Speaker 2>Psychonauts two was robbed that year published.
<v Speaker 1>But everyone knows what I mean. Yeah, yeah, so okay,
<v Speaker 1>Sam with you on bilotro and then yeah, I think
<v Speaker 1>you're right, like that would be there's six non a ease,
<v Speaker 1>I'm like, Astrobot is four right there? And then like
<v Speaker 1>what goes in those last two slots? I'm not sure
<v Speaker 1>you know. Eighty a hell divers too, Yeah, Blackmith Wukong
<v Speaker 1>I think has a chance of kind of sneaking in there. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>well we'll see. I'll uh be interested to see what
<v Speaker 1>actually does happen there. I lied earlier when I said
<v Speaker 1>I don't care. I kind of care. Mostly I care
<v Speaker 1>about other people's still like game game's opinions, though, So
<v Speaker 1>we'll keep talking about that Game of the Year stuff
<v Speaker 1>coming up later this year, everybody. I'm looking forward to it,
<v Speaker 1>all right. So let's explain what we do here most weekdays,
<v Speaker 1>I Jeff Grub will help piece your gaming life back together.
<v Speaker 1>That includes breaking news and maybe even some of our
<v Speaker 1>own original reporting. For all these topics, I'll get the
<v Speaker 1>input of a bona fide expert who will make me
<v Speaker 1>look smart. If you are watching live on twitch welcome,
<v Speaker 1>you can always listen to the show later on podcast feeds.
<v Speaker 1>By searching for game Mes Mornings or find the RSS
<v Speaker 1>on giant bomb dot com. You can also catch the
<v Speaker 1>show later with chapters and timestamps on YouTube. Hello YouTube.
<v Speaker 1>All right, we have a lot to get into, so
<v Speaker 1>let's start the morning mess with PS five Pro tops
<v Speaker 1>Japanese hardware in debut week with over seventy eight thousand
<v Speaker 1>units sold. This is a jeopanes sales. Famitsu tracks this
<v Speaker 1>stuff with the help of a firm over there. This
<v Speaker 1>comes by way of Michaelaherdance at PSU, but also a
<v Speaker 1>Kamatsu all that stuff. The PSI Pro has gotten off
<v Speaker 1>to an impressive start in its native Japan, with the
<v Speaker 1>latest Famitsu figures revealing that Sony's high end console has
<v Speaker 1>moved seventy eight thousand, eighty six units during its debut week.
<v Speaker 1>Put that in perspective, I think it's actually, you know,
<v Speaker 1>significantly better, like around ten percent better in that range
<v Speaker 1>than what the PS four Pro did. So it's already
<v Speaker 1>off to a little bit of a faster start than
<v Speaker 1>the PS four Pro, which I don't think is what
<v Speaker 1>most people were anticipating. Now, we could talk about the factors,
<v Speaker 1>but just on its face, Hey, no, they sold seventy
<v Speaker 1>eight thousand PS five pros. That's money in the bank.
<v Speaker 1>I think I was expecting things to be a little
<v Speaker 1>slower for this, you know, seven hundred dollars console. I
<v Speaker 1>don't know how much yan it is. You know, it's
<v Speaker 1>very expensive in Japan as well. I was expecting slower sales,
<v Speaker 1>how about you.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I'm actually kind of surprised to hear this, especially
<v Speaker 2>like out performing the PS four Pro. Yes, just because
<v Speaker 2>like the PS four Pro made so much more sense
<v Speaker 2>to me logically. It's like, okay, four KTVs are becoming
<v Speaker 2>more common, PlayStation pro is like you know, going all
<v Speaker 2>on that. I still don't fully understand what the PlayStation
<v Speaker 2>five pros deal is. It's it's got like a rib
<v Speaker 2>cage on it, Like that's that's to me, that's what
<v Speaker 2>the five throw is.
<v Speaker 1>God put the extra pagebone back. Yes, that's how.
<v Speaker 2>Exactly exactly it's to balance everything out. Finally, So yeah,
<v Speaker 2>it's surprising to me. I just I am somebody who
<v Speaker 2>is like so far removed from like wanting this thing
<v Speaker 2>in any capacity that it's surprising to me that so
<v Speaker 2>many people do want it. But also like, hey, if
<v Speaker 2>you got the money, go for it.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, you know, over the years, and we're talking like,
<v Speaker 1>you know, the last ten fifteen is years, maybe fifteen.
<v Speaker 1>PlayStation sales hardware is also trended down in Japan, and
<v Speaker 1>then they very recently started to peek back up. Some
<v Speaker 1>people speculate, and I don't know if there's any evidence
<v Speaker 1>behind this, that a lot of PlayStation fours and now
<v Speaker 1>especially PlayStation fives in Japan get purchased and then immediately
<v Speaker 1>arbitraged over to China. Someone buys it in Japan for
<v Speaker 1>this much, they go, they take it to China, they
<v Speaker 1>sell it for quite a bit more, and they make
<v Speaker 1>a pretty penny because that market's a little bit more
<v Speaker 1>close down. There are PlayStations there, but this is just
<v Speaker 1>apparently an easier way from most people get PlayStations in China.
<v Speaker 1>There's probably some truth that now you know, the PS
<v Speaker 1>five Pro, you know, sold very well. You go look
<v Speaker 1>at the software charts, the software is still dominated by Switch.
<v Speaker 1>There's like I think Slitterhead was the one PS five
<v Speaker 1>game on there, and it sold like five thousand copies
<v Speaker 1>or something like that, maybe not even five thousand copies
<v Speaker 1>in its first week. But PS five Pro is all
<v Speaker 1>digital unless you get the disk drive, so you know,
<v Speaker 1>looking at the software chart, which is going to be hard,
<v Speaker 1>you know, the hard copies, only it's actually not that helpful,
<v Speaker 1>not that informative. So it's impossible to say is this
<v Speaker 1>being purchased by people in Japan, four people in Japan
<v Speaker 1>or not. And also at a certain point kind of
<v Speaker 1>doesn't matter. There is demand somewhere. It is benefiting sales
<v Speaker 1>in Japan. Whatever seventy eight thousand sold in the first week,
<v Speaker 1>whoever's ended up purchasing purchasing these things is is pretty impressive,
<v Speaker 1>more impressive than what I was expecting. We will get
<v Speaker 1>some more insight into how this thing performed when you know,
<v Speaker 1>Matt Piscatel and Sircana have their report about you know,
<v Speaker 1>PlayStation sales in I guess for November. We'd have to
<v Speaker 1>wait for the December reports. And then the next report
<v Speaker 1>is coming out probably next week I think from Matt,
<v Speaker 1>and that won't have anything about PS five pro, but
<v Speaker 1>the next one after that a month from now. Overall, though,
<v Speaker 1>like all this like getting into the weeds of how
<v Speaker 1>it's performing. It seems like it's doing its job at
<v Speaker 1>the very least of what Sony could have expected from this, right.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, though these like mid gen like refreshes are always
<v Speaker 2>weird because it's like, okay, well you have like such
<v Speaker 2>a large install base for your PlayStation five already that
<v Speaker 2>it's like, you know, you're only getting a small sliver
<v Speaker 2>of that pie that's going to move up or a
<v Speaker 2>smaller piece that's like, oh, I've been waiting for this,
<v Speaker 2>Like I didn't want to buy a PS five yet,
<v Speaker 2>Now I'll finally.
<v Speaker 1>I'm like, why were they waiting? Most likely because they
<v Speaker 1>were price sensitive, right, not because they wanted a more
<v Speaker 1>powerful thing. Not to say those people don't exist, but
<v Speaker 1>you're right, it's a small fraction.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, my roommate is like a really good example
<v Speaker 2>of this. Who's been, you know, going back and forth
<v Speaker 2>on whether he's going to get a PS five or not,
<v Speaker 2>and he's like, oh, well, like I've been hearing rumors
<v Speaker 2>that there's going to be a pro you know, this
<v Speaker 2>was like last year, and then they announced it and
<v Speaker 2>he was like, oh, so, like the regular PS five
<v Speaker 2>is going to get like cheaper now, and I'm like maybe,
<v Speaker 2>and then it'd be like yeah, and it like wasn't
<v Speaker 2>even like sales, like weren't it enough to like make
<v Speaker 2>him be like, Okay, well, now's the time for me
<v Speaker 2>to jump in, Like now I So he's still like
<v Speaker 2>I'm just waiting for like a good deal, Like I
<v Speaker 2>just I don't have seven hundred dollars to drop, and
<v Speaker 2>like that's been the sentiment I've heard around like my
<v Speaker 2>non gamer friends for the most part, has been like, oh,
<v Speaker 2>we're just waiting for things to get cheaper, and instead
<v Speaker 2>things are getting more more expensive.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. Uh, you know, there was that price cut announced
<v Speaker 1>in the Sony video for the holidays for the standard
<v Speaker 1>PS five Digital Edition Slim and so it's three hundred
<v Speaker 1>and eighty dollars, but then they edited that out of
<v Speaker 1>the video and re uploaded it, so it's like, wait,
<v Speaker 1>what is going on here. It probably will be at
<v Speaker 1>that price at sum retailers over the holidays, but it's
<v Speaker 1>weird that they cut that out. So yeah, maybe the
<v Speaker 1>deal does come, but it will be for the base edition,
<v Speaker 1>which is what you're saying, Like, they're not going to
<v Speaker 1>buy the seven hundred dollars console, but maybe if they
<v Speaker 1>can get a good deal on the standard PS five
<v Speaker 1>they might jump in. Now.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, that seems to be the sentiment that I've been.
<v Speaker 1>Hearing yeah, we kind of this is what we anticipated
<v Speaker 1>PS five Pro would be for a certain audience, and
<v Speaker 1>that I mean, I think Sony's clearly proven right that
<v Speaker 1>that that audience is out there and does want that.
<v Speaker 1>And it's not massive, but it's big enough to justify
<v Speaker 1>a professional PS five while the other one still in
<v Speaker 1>the market doing the bulk of the work of expanding
<v Speaker 1>the install base, which you know, they you know, they've
<v Speaker 1>already done very well. It's as sixty five ish million
<v Speaker 1>consoles sold for you know, PS five at this point
<v Speaker 1>in the generation. That's very good, and they want to
<v Speaker 1>they do want to keep growing it, but they also
<v Speaker 1>don't want to lower the price too much, and they
<v Speaker 1>kind of want to just get more money from people
<v Speaker 1>that are already in the ecosystem. And that's what the
<v Speaker 1>PS five pro is all about. All right. Let's switch
<v Speaker 1>over to Microsoft. Phil Spencer continues to give interviews this week.
<v Speaker 1>This headline says Xbox PlayStation and Nintendo console market isn't
<v Speaker 1>growing according to Phil Spencer. This is from Eddie McCoo
<v Speaker 1>at GameSpot. The video game console market isn't growing. Microsoft
<v Speaker 1>Gaming CEO Phil Spencer said in a new interview, and
<v Speaker 1>that's part of the reason why you don't need an
<v Speaker 1>Xbox to play Xbox these days. The console space all
<v Speaker 1>up isn't growing across all of them, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo.
<v Speaker 1>We love those customers, but in terms of continuing to
<v Speaker 1>expand and grow Xbox, it's about PC, it's about cloud,
<v Speaker 1>and it's about making our games more available in more spaces,
<v Speaker 1>Spencer told Rolling Stone. Just because the console market isn't growing,
<v Speaker 1>that doesn't mean Microsoft is abandoning consoles. Spencer said Microsoft
<v Speaker 1>will definitely do more consoles in the future, and we'll
<v Speaker 1>talk about that here in a second as well. Okay,
<v Speaker 1>let's start with this first part. I mean, God, it
<v Speaker 1>feels like we're getting the same song and dance a
<v Speaker 1>bunch of times now. And it's true, it's definitely true.
<v Speaker 1>But I do wonder why, Actually I don't wonder why.
<v Speaker 1>I know why Phil Spencer needs to come out and
<v Speaker 1>keep saying this because the console gamers keep saying, hey,
<v Speaker 1>what about us? And he I think he's trying to
<v Speaker 1>like kind of kindly say it's like you ain't enough.
<v Speaker 1>I remember, like god, way back in uh you know,
<v Speaker 1>a long time ago, game Speed, I wrote a story
<v Speaker 1>about how the PlayStation Gamer wasn't enough for PlayStation and
<v Speaker 1>that's why they were putting stuff out on PC. And
<v Speaker 1>it's like we're still in that same story. We're in
<v Speaker 1>that same story. It's just now things are getting more extreme.
<v Speaker 1>It's like the console gamer as a whole just isn't
<v Speaker 1>enough for these major corporations, and so they are looking
<v Speaker 1>to grow elsewhere. I just I think the question we
<v Speaker 1>always have Jesse is he says the answer is PC
<v Speaker 1>cloud and putting the games in more places, and it's like, well, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I mean you've been trying that. It hasn't seemed to
<v Speaker 1>be making much of a difference up to this point, right, Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>It's it's always strange to me because you know, I
<v Speaker 2>feel like a lot of these these companies have like
<v Speaker 2>these wider goals, these wider ambitions of like yeah, like
<v Speaker 2>let's put our thing on everything, like let's let's be
<v Speaker 2>on the be on phones, let's be on whatever. And
<v Speaker 2>I know so many people and I know this is
<v Speaker 2>like a US thing versus like.
<v Speaker 1>A sure different markets are different place.
<v Speaker 2>But it's like so many people I know don't want
<v Speaker 2>to play like Halo on a phone like that is
<v Speaker 2>just so unappealing. To them, and so I think it's
<v Speaker 2>one of those things where like a lot of people
<v Speaker 2>maybe feel like, oh, well, like they're not doing anything
<v Speaker 2>with the cloud and the phone, like none of that matters.
<v Speaker 2>And then you go and you look at a different
<v Speaker 2>market and it's like, no, that's actually exclusively how some
<v Speaker 2>of these other people play all of their games, and
<v Speaker 2>we're just looking at our own little like purview in
<v Speaker 2>front of us.
<v Speaker 1>But I don't know.
<v Speaker 2>I feel like we've been hearing the same song and
<v Speaker 2>dance for like years and years and years, and I
<v Speaker 2>don't know if we're actually seeing the benefits of this,
<v Speaker 2>Like is this working for them? I don't know. I
<v Speaker 2>can't tell because they just keep saying it. And I
<v Speaker 2>feel like I haven't seen that killer app on the
<v Speaker 2>phone that everyone's like, all right, yeah, like let's cloud
<v Speaker 2>time onto my phone. Let me pull my ex Box
<v Speaker 2>controller out of my backpack and sit down at a
<v Speaker 2>cafe and like rip through some Gears six. Like I
<v Speaker 2>don't know, because that is that What it is is
<v Speaker 2>that where we're at.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, I think the reality is is like, no,
<v Speaker 1>it's it's not that. And what he's you know, really
<v Speaker 1>saying here is look we will keep taking your money
<v Speaker 1>as long as you can use as long as you
<v Speaker 1>console gamers, some traditional capaent gamers want to keep giving
<v Speaker 1>us your money. But when we are looking to what
<v Speaker 1>we're doing next, we are not looking at like at
<v Speaker 1>least we're no longer looking at play Gears of War
<v Speaker 1>on your phone because we know you. We know you
<v Speaker 1>don't want that. We know that's not what you're here for.
<v Speaker 1>So we still got to get our growth. Where's that
<v Speaker 1>going to come from. We are going to find that
<v Speaker 1>by making different kinds of games for a different kind
<v Speaker 1>of audience, and we might be might be leaving you
<v Speaker 1>behind just a little bit. Look, hey, we got called
<v Speaker 1>Duty Black Ops six. Now we're selling that to you.
<v Speaker 1>It's really big. You fuckers, keep buying that, enjoy it,
<v Speaker 1>and in the meantime, we're going to be looking at
<v Speaker 1>it and doing more stuff like through king and mobile
<v Speaker 1>gaming and all this other stuff. And I it's I
<v Speaker 1>think that's why it's like he has to be a
<v Speaker 1>little bit coy about this, and why I think this
<v Speaker 1>is so frustrating is because I think he's really saying
<v Speaker 1>one thing, and then gamers keep hearing like, okay, so
<v Speaker 1>you're going to just put these games on cloud and
<v Speaker 1>we're supposed to play it there, and he's like, I
<v Speaker 1>don't think he really cares anymore. If we come along
<v Speaker 1>and play the stuff on cloud, they're going to find
<v Speaker 1>their growth some other way if if this console space
<v Speaker 1>and the space that we're coming from doesn't break out
<v Speaker 1>of the confines in which it's in right now, which
<v Speaker 1>we I think we mostly don't want. We don't want
<v Speaker 1>to like stop this. I'm reading that innovator's book that
<v Speaker 1>Mike told me about, which is about the history computing,
<v Speaker 1>and it's like there was this huge debate for a
<v Speaker 1>long time at the early part of personal computing about
<v Speaker 1>whether there should be personal computers where people have the
<v Speaker 1>silicon right in front of them in their hands, or
<v Speaker 1>should they just have dumb terminals that access a mainframe
<v Speaker 1>and do time sharing on a computer. And it's like, oh,
<v Speaker 1>we're back there again when we're talking about cloud versus
<v Speaker 1>devices that people have, and you know, every time that
<v Speaker 1>we've done the hey, everyone wants to have the personal
<v Speaker 1>computer and that's what's worked. It kind of trust shifts
<v Speaker 1>back there, like can we do the cloud thing again?
<v Speaker 1>And I don't know, it feels like maybe if you
<v Speaker 1>keep focusing on the personal device, that is what people
<v Speaker 1>will will become most attached to. But they these corporations
<v Speaker 1>really like this idea of no, we'll just control everything
<v Speaker 1>and maybe we can get you that way and it'll
<v Speaker 1>be more cost effective for us at that point, and
<v Speaker 1>it'll be less of a barrier ventry for you. So
<v Speaker 1>they're here's some benefits, and I think we're just like, no,
<v Speaker 1>we like to own the chain here. And I think
<v Speaker 1>at a certain point, if Microsoft has enough power here,
<v Speaker 1>it's like they'll be okay, fine, Look, we got a
<v Speaker 1>whole new generation of people that don't care about the
<v Speaker 1>things you care about, and we will sell stuff to them. Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>I think people just really love having their thing and
<v Speaker 2>it being them and them having ownership over it. But yeah,
<v Speaker 2>these these companies want you in their ecosystem so deep
<v Speaker 2>and the further they can remove you from that personal
<v Speaker 2>device and bring you like, oh, no, everything you do
<v Speaker 2>is a service that has run through us. You are
<v Speaker 2>going to pay us a subscription. We are going to
<v Speaker 2>be able to rotate out that catalog, change that thing,
<v Speaker 2>put in this new ad here, do whatever, and it's
<v Speaker 2>like you don't have any ownership over this, like, this
<v Speaker 2>is a subscription that you are using and that if
<v Speaker 2>you do not like, you can cancel, but you don't
<v Speaker 2>really have anywhere else to go. That's ultimately what they want.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, Phil Spencer went on to say, we'll definitely do
<v Speaker 1>more consoles in the future. This comes from Jonas Macki,
<v Speaker 1>a game reactor. Ever since Microsoft announced earlier this year
<v Speaker 1>it would start releasing games for competing formats, many have
<v Speaker 1>been talking about what this means for the future of Xbox.
<v Speaker 1>Whether it's even possible to sell consoles if you don't
<v Speaker 1>have any exclusive content is a question that seems valid. However,
<v Speaker 1>Back in February, Xbox Games Studio executives said they were
<v Speaker 1>working on a new console that would be brutally powerful,
<v Speaker 1>and this week's Microsoft Game this week, Microsoft's gaming boss
<v Speaker 1>at Phil Spencer openly admitted that they are working on
<v Speaker 1>portablehand hardware. He also recently stated that the Xbox division
<v Speaker 1>is currently doing better than ever before. Part of that is,
<v Speaker 1>you know, putting games everywhere now. Spencer has been interviewed
<v Speaker 1>by roland Stone and the topic of upcoming consoles came
<v Speaker 1>up again, whereupon he said that there is no doubt
<v Speaker 1>that there will be more Xbox devices. We'll definitely do
<v Speaker 1>more consoles in the future and other devices. He also
<v Speaker 1>mentioned that unfortunately, consoles are not increasing market share from
<v Speaker 1>generation to generation. That's conversation we just had. So yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I mean okay, so yeah, like they are still gonna
<v Speaker 1>make consoles. So what are we complaining about? And it's
<v Speaker 1>I think the issue that we're getting at here is, Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>they're going to make consoles, and they will continue to
<v Speaker 1>have a place to sell Call of Duty and all
<v Speaker 1>this stuff. Sure, and they might try some new stuffs
<v Speaker 1>in that new stuff in that space, but I think
<v Speaker 1>their focus has already moved beyond that and they're trying
<v Speaker 1>to just be the Microsoft app. And I think they've
<v Speaker 1>they've kind of looked past this for a long time now, right.
<v Speaker 1>I don't know how important the console is to them truly,
<v Speaker 1>other than yeah, we have Microsoft surface laptops, but we're
<v Speaker 1>the Windows company, and I think the same thing might
<v Speaker 1>happen with gaming, right.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, And like I think they're totally they're totally okay
<v Speaker 2>with that. I mean, they're Microsoft, they own they own Windows.
<v Speaker 2>They're going to put their stuff on PC. They're gonna
<v Speaker 2>put their stuff on Xbox. I don't know. I don't
<v Speaker 2>know where they go from here. At Xbox handheld sounds
<v Speaker 2>sick like, sure, hey, I've become good like I've become
<v Speaker 2>a PC handheld siko, like I love my Steam Deck. Uh,
<v Speaker 2>you know, I got all the different and burnick like
<v Speaker 2>devices now, and I'm just like I'm in this this
<v Speaker 2>world and I'm like, oh, you want to give me
<v Speaker 2>another one? You want to give me an Xbox one.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know how that's going to be any different
<v Speaker 2>than like the three I already have, but like, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>let's let's do it. Like sure, but give me a
<v Speaker 2>thing that just has game passed like installed on it easily,
<v Speaker 2>like nothing to freak and just play all my stuff
<v Speaker 2>like yeah, sure, why not?
<v Speaker 1>Yep? And it's uh. I'm also curious to see like
<v Speaker 1>what at the next Xbox looks like in terms of
<v Speaker 1>how they position this stuff, because I think what they're
<v Speaker 1>going to go for is, you know, the rumors have
<v Speaker 1>been that hey, the next Xbox will be more open
<v Speaker 1>and you could install something like Steam on there. And
<v Speaker 1>I think the reason they make that choice is it
<v Speaker 1>well it is one like hey, okay, you know we're
<v Speaker 1>completely rethinking what the hardware can be when it's coming
<v Speaker 1>to be, when it's a console. Sure, But really I
<v Speaker 1>think what it is is like Xbox wants to lead
<v Speaker 1>the charge in what they want the future to look like,
<v Speaker 1>which is consoles that work more like PCs, so you
<v Speaker 1>can install any store so that one day they can
<v Speaker 1>install the Microsoft Gaming App on PlayStation and they don't
<v Speaker 1>have to like sell their games through the PlayStation network.
<v Speaker 1>They could just sell it through the Xbox app and
<v Speaker 1>then they could take, you know, one hundred percent of
<v Speaker 1>the revenue and cut out Sony, which is what like
<v Speaker 1>Epic has been able to accomplish on mobile stores like
<v Speaker 1>Google Play and to a certain degree, the Apple I
<v Speaker 1>Store or the App store excuse me. And so I
<v Speaker 1>think they're like, well, well, position this new console is like, hey,
<v Speaker 1>this is what it should look like, and we're doing
<v Speaker 1>it so regulators, why can't everyone else do it? And
<v Speaker 1>I again, I think it's fine that if that's your
<v Speaker 1>long term strategy. It's like, but boy, it felt like
<v Speaker 1>the strategy should have been make some really great games
<v Speaker 1>and that was solved most of your problems.
<v Speaker 2>Right, Yeah, it always feels like they have this grander,
<v Speaker 2>grander plan or or they think they do, and they're like, oh, well, well,
<v Speaker 2>like you know, we bought all these studios, like eventually
<v Speaker 2>we'll get some good games out out of this, and
<v Speaker 2>it's like they're over here like figuring out like the
<v Speaker 2>next step of whatever they're Remember, they were like rumors
<v Speaker 2>a long time ago that like game Pass was going
<v Speaker 2>to come to Switch, and like that was that we
<v Speaker 2>were all talking about for a long time. Scale Bound
<v Speaker 2>was good, was going to come back, and we had
<v Speaker 2>to get all these all these these grand, grand ideas
<v Speaker 2>of what would happen. And I feel like this is
<v Speaker 2>the natural evolution of the rumor of like, oh, game
<v Speaker 2>Pass is going to come to Switch. And it's like
<v Speaker 2>because that's that's where they've always been thinking for the
<v Speaker 2>last eight to ten years. It's like that's what they
<v Speaker 2>want to be. They want to be the service on
<v Speaker 2>other platforms, selling their games to people on Nintendo Switch,
<v Speaker 2>on PlayStation, on PC, or wherever they are. That's where
<v Speaker 2>they want to be. They want to be the service company,
<v Speaker 2>and honestly, I think they're positioned well to do it
<v Speaker 2>because they have Microsoft and they're able to get themselves
<v Speaker 2>into wherever they need to do. They have the server space,
<v Speaker 2>they have the cloud space, they have all of this
<v Speaker 2>because Microsoft is built to have all of that, and
<v Speaker 2>so it's it's a strong pitch, honestly, Like if you're
<v Speaker 2>telling me, I could one day maybe boot up my
<v Speaker 2>PlayStation and be like, well, let me open the Xbox
<v Speaker 2>the Microsoft Store and pick up Halo and I'll play
<v Speaker 2>it on my PlayStation, because that's just the easiest way
<v Speaker 2>for me to get this done. I don't got to
<v Speaker 2>like pull my Xbox out of the closet or wherever
<v Speaker 2>it is in my other part of my apartment. That's
<v Speaker 2>like that's an appealing prospect. And I think a lot
<v Speaker 2>of people at the end of the day wouldn't care
<v Speaker 2>as long as they're getting the games that they want
<v Speaker 2>to play, they don't really care where they're playing them.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I mean, you know, they have this new this
<v Speaker 1>is not an Xbox strategy or you know, strategy, but
<v Speaker 1>ad campaign, and they're just explicitly saying that, you know,
<v Speaker 1>and everyone's picking up on what they're putting down. It's
<v Speaker 1>like eventually this ad which has you know, like a
<v Speaker 1>toaster and like that's not an Xbox, and then a
<v Speaker 1>phone this is an Xbox. Well we get where that
<v Speaker 1>ends up, which is here's a PS five and that
<v Speaker 1>is an Xbox. And yeah, I think you're right that
<v Speaker 1>people will accept that at a certain point. It's just
<v Speaker 1>in the meantime it feels very odd and it feels like,
<v Speaker 1>you know, everyone's like, oh, Microsoft's going third party, and
<v Speaker 1>it's like, I just don't know if that's the right
<v Speaker 1>way to frame it anymore, because things are so different
<v Speaker 1>than when like Sega was making hardware and then they
<v Speaker 1>went third party. I think what what Microsoft thinks is
<v Speaker 1>happening is everything is changing and there doesn't like the
<v Speaker 1>first party third party dynamic just doesn't apply anymore, and
<v Speaker 1>you need to be this new thing where the platform
<v Speaker 1>is the central thing that's bringing people in the ecosystem itself.
<v Speaker 1>And you know, we've been there for a while in
<v Speaker 1>many ways. I mean a lot of games that are
<v Speaker 1>successful are just platforms unto themselves. Fortnite in Rowblocks and
<v Speaker 1>Minecraft and all these other things, and you know, Final
<v Speaker 1>Fantasy fourteen, like they're out there. These things are just
<v Speaker 1>reasons that people go to two games at all, and
<v Speaker 1>then they just stick stick to that and their whole
<v Speaker 1>social network is attached to these games. And Microsoft's like
<v Speaker 1>saying we're gonna build the multi game version of that,
<v Speaker 1>and that will be the first party of that, and
<v Speaker 1>the hardware will be a secondary thought at a certain point.
<v Speaker 1>And I don't think that any of that is wrong.
<v Speaker 1>It's just such an awkward transition that we're in right
<v Speaker 1>now that it doesn't feel great.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, we don't really have like the terminology for it, Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>in order to describe it, because like it is. I mean,
<v Speaker 2>like we always talking about how young this industry is
<v Speaker 2>and how new relative this is to a lot of
<v Speaker 2>other industries. Like what we're seeing right now is like
<v Speaker 2>a pretty massive shift. If this is how this ends
<v Speaker 2>up going, like kind of unprecedented in a lot of ways.
<v Speaker 2>And so I think it's just about like the growing
<v Speaker 2>pains of like learning, like Okay, what does this mean
<v Speaker 2>for everything? And like how do we describe a lot
<v Speaker 2>of these things? Like what what's the new term that's
<v Speaker 2>gonna that's gonna be coined from all of this? Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>Like what do you how do you eventually describe Xbox
<v Speaker 2>if this is the way that they go, Like, I
<v Speaker 2>don't know, it's a lot of a lot of unknown
<v Speaker 2>right now.
<v Speaker 1>Yep. I think one of things clear though, it's like
<v Speaker 1>it's they're not going back. It's not gonna one day.
<v Speaker 1>It's not going to be like, oh, this is the
<v Speaker 1>Xbox three sixty generation all over again from Xbox. That's done.
<v Speaker 1>They're not going back. It'll be they're going for something different,
<v Speaker 1>and whether or not it will work, we'll have to
<v Speaker 1>wait and see. All right, last little one here from Microsoft.
<v Speaker 1>Avoweds new release date has been confirmed. This is from
<v Speaker 1>Chris Cully and if EGC. Microsoft has announced the new
<v Speaker 1>release date for Avowed Obsidian's first person fantasy RPG will
<v Speaker 1>be released on February eighteenth. We kind of knew it
<v Speaker 1>was coming around then, but it's February eighteenth now confirmed.
<v Speaker 1>You can get it five days early, February thirteenth if
<v Speaker 1>you buy the premium edition I think for ninety dollars,
<v Speaker 1>but if you want to wait, get it on game Pass,
<v Speaker 1>you can get it on the eighteenth. That puts it
<v Speaker 1>in that really tough month with a lot of other stuff.
<v Speaker 1>They said that one of the reasons that they moved
<v Speaker 1>it in the first place was to give it room
<v Speaker 1>to breathe, but that was compared to their other first
<v Speaker 1>party releases, and they like we had Diablo Foor Expansion,
<v Speaker 1>Black Op six and then Indiana Jones. We kind of
<v Speaker 1>wanted to move this avout around, and it's like there
<v Speaker 1>was a time where it's like they would not have
<v Speaker 1>cared because you know, every game you add in one
<v Speaker 1>space just gives more people more reason to get subscribed
<v Speaker 1>to game Pass. And then it's like, well, you know,
<v Speaker 1>they play the games linearly so that they play through
<v Speaker 1>Black Ops six for a while and then that game
<v Speaker 1>is waiting for them there, and so it doesn't really
<v Speaker 1>hurt them if it's that their focus is game Pass,
<v Speaker 1>but the focus is shifted. It's clearly back on selling products.
<v Speaker 1>And in that world, you want to make sure that
<v Speaker 1>you give a game like this space in your own
<v Speaker 1>schedule so you can maximize the return. And that makes
<v Speaker 1>some sense. But you know, Monster Hunter, Wild's, Assassin's Creed,
<v Speaker 1>Civilization seven, there's a bunch of other games coming out
<v Speaker 1>in February. I think this give stall as a shot
<v Speaker 1>of like really kind of standing out if it's if
<v Speaker 1>it gets really good word of mouth, right.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I mean it's we've known about it for a
<v Speaker 2>long time. You know, it has the benefit of having
<v Speaker 2>you know, Xbox behind it, like it. It's going to
<v Speaker 2>be out in front of you. People are going to
<v Speaker 2>know that that thing is coming out. They're going to
<v Speaker 2>market it, hopefully better than some of their games that
<v Speaker 2>they've marketed in the past this year, and I think
<v Speaker 2>it has like a real strong shot at being just
<v Speaker 2>what a lot of people have been looking for, which
<v Speaker 2>is that sort of Elder Scrolls esque RPG style game
<v Speaker 2>that they have not gotten from Bethesda in a while.
<v Speaker 1>And so.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I think it's got a strong shot at standing out.
<v Speaker 2>The question is like, if that's a long eighty hour
<v Speaker 2>sixty hour RPG, are people going to stick with it
<v Speaker 2>when the three other games they want to play that
<v Speaker 2>month drop two, three, four days afterwards? Yep, I don't know,
<v Speaker 2>but they have a good shot at that at that
<v Speaker 2>opening weekend that like, Okay, we can get people for
<v Speaker 2>a weekend, and if we can get our clause in them,
<v Speaker 2>then I think they'll they'll finish this game out before
<v Speaker 2>they move on to their next thing.
<v Speaker 1>But yeah, and it does have the advantage of being,
<v Speaker 1>you know, one of the games that's in game Pass
<v Speaker 1>and so it'll have like there will be a lot
<v Speaker 1>of people who just play it because they're subscribed it
<v Speaker 1>to the next big game, and they got they may
<v Speaker 1>they might have gotten game pass for Black Ops six
<v Speaker 1>and so they still have it. Yeah, and that'll help,
<v Speaker 1>and then the rest of it will just be down to, hey,
<v Speaker 1>are people really enjoying it? The people that are playing it,
<v Speaker 1>because the game pass, if that word of mouth pops off,
<v Speaker 1>I think about, will do much better than we're all
<v Speaker 1>kind of thinking in this moment where a lot of
<v Speaker 1>people are just like forgetting about the game and not
<v Speaker 1>really thinking about it at all. Yeah, all right, let's
<v Speaker 1>take a quick break. When we come back, plenty more
<v Speaker 1>to talk about, including Unreal going into like the public
<v Speaker 1>domain kind of not really, but we'll talk about it
<v Speaker 1>after this. All right, we're back. Let's get right back
<v Speaker 1>into it. Here's the headline. Unreal and Unreal Tournament are
<v Speaker 1>free on Internet Archive. This is from Ian Walker at Polygon. Unreal,
<v Speaker 1>the first person shooter that introduced Unreal engine to the world,
<v Speaker 1>and its multiplayer focus follow up, Unreal Tournament, have been
<v Speaker 1>preserved via the Internet Archive and are freely available to
<v Speaker 1>for download. With the blessing of developer Epic Games. Old
<v Speaker 1>Unreal first share the news with its long standing community
<v Speaker 1>of diehard Unreal fans on October twenty ninth, and more
<v Speaker 1>recently released special installers that streamline the process of getting
<v Speaker 1>these decades old games ready to play on modern Windows
<v Speaker 1>operating systems. Basically, you just like get these installers and
<v Speaker 1>then the installer will reach out to the Internet archive
<v Speaker 1>that you know, repository and get the game and all
<v Speaker 1>of the most recent updates so that it will run
<v Speaker 1>appropriately on whatever version of Windows you have. And it's like, oh,
<v Speaker 1>that's that's pretty neat, and you know this epics like, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>just these old games, we want to have them preserved,
<v Speaker 1>and the way we think to do that is Internet Archive.
<v Speaker 1>Got to say, I love this. I think this is
<v Speaker 1>a really cool move. How about you.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, anytime we can preserve games in any capacity, that
<v Speaker 2>is like, that is the goal. Like that is the
<v Speaker 2>big one of the biggest problems, not the biggest problem
<v Speaker 2>of plenty of other problems in the game of the
<v Speaker 2>industry that need to be solved, but like, but like
<v Speaker 2>preservation is like a very real problem that this industry has.
<v Speaker 2>And anyway, especially classic games like Unreal Turn like games
<v Speaker 2>that so beloved, like a lot of times we give
<v Speaker 2>them like the remaster treatment and it's like okay, but
<v Speaker 2>that's like that's still not like the thing that I
<v Speaker 2>remember from when I was a kid, necessarily, and this
<v Speaker 2>is they're like, no, we're gonna put this up. You're
<v Speaker 2>gonna have to do a little bit of work to
<v Speaker 2>get it to get it running, but like we're gonna
<v Speaker 2>try and make this as easy as possible for you.
<v Speaker 2>And now you can just enjoy the thing that you
<v Speaker 2>enjoyed when it was out. And I think that's like
<v Speaker 2>a really really cool thing.
<v Speaker 1>Oh well, I agree one hundred percent. And uh, you know,
<v Speaker 1>the fans. There is a massive fan community for Unreal,
<v Speaker 1>you know, for one of these games, you know, relatively speaking,
<v Speaker 1>but a massive community, and they have things like servers
<v Speaker 1>going ready to go. So there are ways to play
<v Speaker 1>this game and now a very easy way to access it.
<v Speaker 1>And I think part of it is, you know, you
<v Speaker 1>can put a free game on like Dog or something
<v Speaker 1>like that or Ithio, but I think, I don't know,
<v Speaker 1>just put it on internet archive of just saying go
<v Speaker 1>get it from this thing. It's just free on the
<v Speaker 1>internet on a web page. Excuse me. I just part
<v Speaker 1>of it just makes me think like, oh, that's so
<v Speaker 1>much easier to access. This might help that old community
<v Speaker 1>grow a little bit. And uh and also you know,
<v Speaker 1>I think you like, once you put it on the
<v Speaker 1>Internet Archive, you can't undo that. It's forever. You know.
<v Speaker 1>I know the Internet Archive and the way it does
<v Speaker 1>things is under a little bit of a threat recently,
<v Speaker 1>especially after losing that court case about being a digital
<v Speaker 1>online library. But if a company gives its blessing, well
<v Speaker 1>that's just it. We're good to go. The horse's mouth
<v Speaker 1>has said, hey, this is awesome, let's keep doing this.
<v Speaker 1>And I think it would be hard for Epic to
<v Speaker 1>change their mind, not that I think they would. I
<v Speaker 1>hope ideally this kind of sets a precedent and other
<v Speaker 1>companies begin following this. You know, there's the Video Game
<v Speaker 1>History Foundation. Part of me hopes it's like, okay, maybe
<v Speaker 1>the Video Game History Foundation can work with the Internet
<v Speaker 1>Archive to like come up with a process or something
<v Speaker 1>like just some easy steps to follow to enable other
<v Speaker 1>companies to do this same thing, and then maybe work
<v Speaker 1>with the SRB to like break like to thaw the
<v Speaker 1>ice wall they have around preservation and make this a
<v Speaker 1>little bit more frequent. Although I know, Jesse, I'm probably dreaming, right.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it's going to be an uphill battle for sure,
<v Speaker 2>and it may be something that takes way too long
<v Speaker 2>to get done in the future, but I think they're
<v Speaker 2>I think we're starting to push a little bit more
<v Speaker 2>in that direction. And so I don't want to say
<v Speaker 2>it's impossible. I don't want to say it's it will
<v Speaker 2>never happen, but I do think it is still very, very,
<v Speaker 2>very difficult, and there's a lot of reasons why this
<v Speaker 2>stuff is the way that it is. I'm not saying
<v Speaker 2>they're good reasons, but like, I think the more we
<v Speaker 2>push and the more times we see things like this
<v Speaker 2>where it's like, look, look how easy it is. Look
<v Speaker 2>like you could just put it here and it's okay,
<v Speaker 2>and it's fine, and your company didn't go under, you
<v Speaker 2>didn't lose shareholder profit's like, you're fine. I think we
<v Speaker 2>just need more of that and hopefully that'll sway enough people.
<v Speaker 1>I think this kind of thing happens because Epic and
<v Speaker 1>Tim Sweeney see themselves as like we're doing things right
<v Speaker 1>for the game or gamers rights and all this stuff,
<v Speaker 1>and you know, don't don't let that fool you, And
<v Speaker 1>not that I think anyone in this audience is really
<v Speaker 1>being fooled. They're the company that also got in a
<v Speaker 1>lot of trouble for Dark Patterns and Fortnite and trick
<v Speaker 1>of people, and it's spending more money than the people
<v Speaker 1>intended to spend and putting buttons in weird spaces so
<v Speaker 1>you accidentally bought stuff. So they're ready to manipulate, just
<v Speaker 1>like any other company in capitalism. Sometimes they're ready to
<v Speaker 1>do that more than other companies. So but this is
<v Speaker 1>still cool and I'm glad they're doing it.
<v Speaker 2>You got to just think about that one image of
<v Speaker 2>Tim Sweeney with the Tesla ball on the ground in
<v Speaker 2>the office when he was showing off Unreal Engine five
<v Speaker 2>or whatever, and that Jeff Keeley the original Summer game
<v Speaker 2>Fest that was like three months long, and we just
<v Speaker 2>got weird things happening all the time. Think about that image.
<v Speaker 2>He's like drinking Popeyes. It's like ten in the morning,
<v Speaker 2>He's got the lightning Tesla ball on the floor. That's
<v Speaker 2>who we're dealing with.
<v Speaker 1>That. Always keep that in mind. And then and then
<v Speaker 1>we're also dealing with the with the one that in
<v Speaker 1>that video that like a video tour of epic. He
<v Speaker 1>just went outside and had made the video like the
<v Speaker 1>camera guy. Watch him climb a tree, which is just
<v Speaker 1>choice shit, real good stuff.
<v Speaker 2>Touching grass on on in four cass right.
<v Speaker 1>In front of it. There's proof that he's touched grass before.
<v Speaker 1>We said we have it on video evidence.
<v Speaker 2>It's disputable.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, it'll hold up in court. Following StarCraft reports, Blizzard
<v Speaker 1>is hiring for an open world shooter game. This is
<v Speaker 1>from Jordan Midler at VGC. Blizzard is advertising job roles
<v Speaker 1>for an upcoming open world shooter game. The job roles
<v Speaker 1>have been published following a report earlier this year that
<v Speaker 1>Blizzard was once again working on a StarCraft shooter. Multiple roles,
<v Speaker 1>including associate Associate design Director, senior designer, and principal designer
<v Speaker 1>for an unannounced game are being advertised. Hey, this is
<v Speaker 1>the one that Jason Schryer was talking about. We talked
<v Speaker 1>to him about on the episode of Bombcasts we had
<v Speaker 1>him on where you know this is their third attempt
<v Speaker 1>at making a StarCraft shooter. They know, but they're pretty
<v Speaker 1>far along on it. They're really working on it, and
<v Speaker 1>now they are sounds like these job hostings are for
<v Speaker 1>that game, and they are hiring even more people. Do
<v Speaker 1>you think first that an open world shooter StarCraft game
<v Speaker 1>ever comes out. No, I think that's the safe bet, right, Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>and then.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know what they do. I just I just
<v Speaker 2>I don't know what what keeps happening that they're just
<v Speaker 2>not working whatever they want to work, it's not working.
<v Speaker 2>It's not happening.
<v Speaker 1>Yep. And then uh, okay, let's say it does come out.
<v Speaker 1>What do you what do you want from it? Because
<v Speaker 1>I'm not sure, Like, I mean, I guess Open World is.
<v Speaker 1>It's like far Cry, Like I don't know what I
<v Speaker 1>want from this game.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, because they had uh Dan Hay working at that
<v Speaker 2>studio for a while formerly a far Cry and they
<v Speaker 2>were doing the survival game as there's a whole thing
<v Speaker 2>I don't I don't know because I mean, like one,
<v Speaker 2>I'm not a huge StarCraft person. I'm a huge Warcraft person.
<v Speaker 2>StarCraft never really never really my bag. And that's fine.
<v Speaker 1>I'm not a big arts That's what he needs.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I I honestly I need the works.
<v Speaker 1>I get it.
<v Speaker 2>If you need if you need to describe anything to me,
<v Speaker 2>it's I need the works. And so I don't really
<v Speaker 2>know a lot about StarCraft lore, but I have a
<v Speaker 2>hard time feeling like they don't make this and it
<v Speaker 2>doesn't come off like generic. And I don't mean that
<v Speaker 2>like disrespectfully. I just I don't know what's special to
<v Speaker 2>StarCraft that you could turn into a shooter that is
<v Speaker 2>not being done by other sci fi shooters already, right.
<v Speaker 1>I like, that's like, what is this? This is look
<v Speaker 1>like Rage two? Like what is this even? I have
<v Speaker 1>no idea what to expect from this. That said, whatever,
<v Speaker 1>give it a chance, give it a try. Uh, and
<v Speaker 1>I hope it comes out. I want to see what
<v Speaker 1>they what they make here. I just I think I
<v Speaker 1>set my default position here the same as you do that.
<v Speaker 1>I don't think this ever comes out and then uh,
<v Speaker 1>okay they're making it. What do I want them to do?
<v Speaker 1>I don't know. So now I'm not very helpful. Thankfully
<v Speaker 1>I'm not on the payroll, so they'll have to figure
<v Speaker 1>it out on their own. But yeah, I still curious,
<v Speaker 1>interested want to see it. But but I like sitting here,
<v Speaker 1>it's like I don't know if anything I could just say,
<v Speaker 1>like like if I'm going to use these touch points
<v Speaker 1>like I say, far Cry StarCraft, and I'm like, I
<v Speaker 1>don't think that sounds what I like?
<v Speaker 2>What I want it all face marine.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, I'm in space right, Yeah that I I think
<v Speaker 1>that stuff could work. But they're describing an open world
<v Speaker 1>shooter game, so I don't know. I don't know. We'll
<v Speaker 1>see maybe, honestly, we might not. We might never see.
<v Speaker 1>Actually is is maybe the more likely scenario.
<v Speaker 2>Let's touch base in four years from now see.
<v Speaker 1>Where sounds good? Yes? Uh? GTA Trilogy removes developer credit
<v Speaker 1>following major graphical update.
<v Speaker 2>Uh.
<v Speaker 1>This is from Chris Scullion f VGC. Rockstar has removed
<v Speaker 1>Grove Street Games credits from the start of Grand Theft
<v Speaker 1>Auto the Trilogy Definitive Edition following a major graphical upgrade.
<v Speaker 1>The surprise patch was released on Tuesday and made notable
<v Speaker 1>improvements to the much criticized remasters. However, one of the
<v Speaker 1>other changes is the apparent removal of Grove Street Game's
<v Speaker 1>logo at the start of each game and references to
<v Speaker 1>them in the game's copyright blurb. VGC loaded a pre
<v Speaker 1>patched version of Grand Theft Auto Vice City, which with
<v Speaker 1>a splash screen showing game artwork and the Grove Street
<v Speaker 1>Games logo and copyright information relating to Rockstar, Growth Street
<v Speaker 1>Games and Epic Games for the use of the unreal engine. However,
<v Speaker 1>after downloading the patch, we were instead met with a
<v Speaker 1>different section, a different screen showing a black background, and
<v Speaker 1>revised copyright information relating only to Rockstar and Epic Games.
<v Speaker 1>Growth Street Games was one of the main developers behind
<v Speaker 1>the Definitive Edition, but when it was released in November
<v Speaker 1>twenty twenty one, players quickly criticized how it looked, citing
<v Speaker 1>odd character models, a complete lack of fog, issues with
<v Speaker 1>rain effects, and poor quality AI upscaling, which added typos
<v Speaker 1>to numerous in game shop signs and billboards. When the
<v Speaker 1>Definitive Edition was ported to Bubile Devices in December twenty
<v Speaker 1>twenty three, it included a new classic lighting mode, which
<v Speaker 1>players praised for looking much more authentic and in line
<v Speaker 1>with the original versions art style. Yeah, so that's what
<v Speaker 1>they did. It's basically the updated all versions of Grand
<v Speaker 1>Theft Auto to make it look like the more updated
<v Speaker 1>mobile versions, which people said were much preferred. And then
<v Speaker 1>grow Street wasn't involved with that. I think Rockstar did
<v Speaker 1>the work themselves. Uh, And yet it's a little weird
<v Speaker 1>to like remove the you know, the original developer of
<v Speaker 1>the remaster, because I'm sure some of that work is
<v Speaker 1>still in there. But I suppose if it's in if okay,
<v Speaker 1>if you're moving the copyright and the because they I
<v Speaker 1>mean they would know who like has the copyright and
<v Speaker 1>legally if if grow Streets still apply to the copyright,
<v Speaker 1>I think they would respect that, but remove them from
<v Speaker 1>the splash screen. I'm kind of like, whatever, are they
<v Speaker 1>still in the credits? It sounds like they're still in
<v Speaker 1>the actual credits of the game. Maybe if if they're not,
<v Speaker 1>then that's I think I would have an issue with
<v Speaker 1>that because it's like, I don't think a company should
<v Speaker 1>be like, we cleaned up your mess, so now we're
<v Speaker 1>just going to completely erase your credit.
<v Speaker 2>Right, Yeah, it feels like a punishment.
<v Speaker 1>Well it's like, oh, definitely bad job.
<v Speaker 2>Like now we're taking over and you don't get the credit,
<v Speaker 2>like we have to clean Like you said, we have
<v Speaker 2>to clean up your mess. Like it feels weirdly vindictive
<v Speaker 2>in a lot of ways, right, but also talking about
<v Speaker 2>the company that like notoriously removes people from credits who
<v Speaker 2>like don't stay there until the end of their game, right,
<v Speaker 2>they have like a slew of workplace issues like this
<v Speaker 2>all tracks as like shitty as it is like to me,
<v Speaker 2>it's like, yeah, you could tell me that they removed
<v Speaker 2>it because they were upset that they did a bad
<v Speaker 2>job and they had to come in and spend their
<v Speaker 2>time in six it. So now Grove Street is out, Like, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I believe that because Rockstar has proven time and time
<v Speaker 2>again that that's kind of how they operate when it
<v Speaker 2>comes to crediting people for things on their games.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I mean you said it a vindictive and rock
<v Speaker 1>Star definitely that has always been and no reason to
<v Speaker 1>assume that that has changed. This feels like business is
<v Speaker 1>usual for them. But I still, yeah, deeply dislike this
<v Speaker 1>idea of people doing work and basically there should just
<v Speaker 1>be a standardized way that crediting is done and it
<v Speaker 1>should be kind of taken out of the hands of
<v Speaker 1>the people even doing the work. It should just be
<v Speaker 1>like you know, labor unions setting practices, and it's like,
<v Speaker 1>if a certain amount of work it's done by this person,
<v Speaker 1>they're in the credit and if they're working on under
<v Speaker 1>a third party company, that company should be listed there
<v Speaker 1>as well. And if that's the way it is, that's
<v Speaker 1>just the way it has to be. And we know
<v Speaker 1>that's not the way it works, you know, works that
<v Speaker 1>way in some other industries, film TV, but it's not
<v Speaker 1>how now how it works in video games, and so
<v Speaker 1>companies just are making these unilateral decisions about who to
<v Speaker 1>credit and who to remove from the credits, and it
<v Speaker 1>just feels like another space for them to enact this,
<v Speaker 1>you know, when they want to be vindictive, another place
<v Speaker 1>to enact that. All right, last story here, and then
<v Speaker 1>we'll do something a little bit special before my last
<v Speaker 1>because it's my last episode before I'm going to be
<v Speaker 1>out for a little bit. Donkey Conga fan creates custom
<v Speaker 1>track tool. This is from Ali Reynolds at Nintendo Life.
<v Speaker 1>If you're a fan of the severely underrated Donkey Conga
<v Speaker 1>franchise from the GameCube era, then you're in luck. A
<v Speaker 1>dedicated fan has created a tool called Conga Beat that
<v Speaker 1>allows you to import songs and create your own custom
<v Speaker 1>tracks that can be exupported to use with either Donkey
<v Speaker 1>Konga two or Donkey Konga three. So naturally, the catch
<v Speaker 1>with this is that you'll need a to rip a
<v Speaker 1>copy of either game, which might be difficult for the
<v Speaker 1>latter since it's it's exclusive to Japan, and load it
<v Speaker 1>up in the Dolphin emulator. That's not even the end
<v Speaker 1>of it either, but for the full rundown, how to
<v Speaker 1>get that everything done, you got to go to the
<v Speaker 1>site and check it out. But so it sounds like
<v Speaker 1>a little bit of a process. I hope that they
<v Speaker 1>get simplified because I was thinking, it's like, I would
<v Speaker 1>love to do this, but I also kind of wanted
<v Speaker 1>to just work. I want to. I wanted to work
<v Speaker 1>the way that that Audio Shield game in early VR did,
<v Speaker 1>where it's like I could just load up a YouTube
<v Speaker 1>video and it'll, you know, use an algorithm to come
<v Speaker 1>up with the beats on its own, and I could
<v Speaker 1>just play any song I want, even if it's like
<v Speaker 1>some real, really weird bullshit. I remember from like twenty
<v Speaker 1>years ago being a meme on YouTube. That doesn't sound
<v Speaker 1>like how it works right now. But I love me
<v Speaker 1>some Donkey Konga, so I'm happy to hear this.
<v Speaker 2>Jeff Grub, did you know that I am a rhythm
<v Speaker 2>game sicko? I did not know that that hy rhythm games.
<v Speaker 2>I play Clone Hero. I've got a custom Clone Hero
<v Speaker 2>guitar like sitting next to my desk.
<v Speaker 1>I got that step Mania over on this PC. Once
<v Speaker 1>in a while.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, and so you're telling me now if I
<v Speaker 2>I believe I have a pair of the Donkey Konga
<v Speaker 2>bongos in my apartment somewhere.
<v Speaker 1>We were we were doing a show the other day
<v Speaker 1>with Lucy who was doing a blight club and me,
<v Speaker 1>Dan and Mike. Within thirty seconds all stood up and
<v Speaker 1>got our Donkey Kong bonbos the same time. It was insane.
<v Speaker 2>Uh So, I'm gonna go I'm gonna go mess around
<v Speaker 2>with that later. I'm gonna go find I'm gonna go
<v Speaker 2>find out about this.
<v Speaker 1>Uh yeah, same. I want to I want to like
<v Speaker 1>do some more stuff with this. I love watching Nikky's
<v Speaker 1>what's that music user? Yes, fuser, Yes, their fuser streams. Uh,
<v Speaker 1>those are so entertaining, and I would like to maybe
<v Speaker 1>get on some of that action with some Donkey Konga
<v Speaker 1>just playing chapel round. Let's make it happen.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it's honestly so much more fun than you ever
<v Speaker 2>think it would be.
<v Speaker 1>You're like, it's not supposed to work like this. This
<v Speaker 1>is incredible. It's really good. I mean Dan had Donkey
<v Speaker 1>Kong Jungle Beat set up at his house during an
<v Speaker 1>extra life for a little bit. I think maybe Kayla
<v Speaker 1>was playing it a little bit. It's like, oh, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>this rules. This is from the Super Mario Odyssey team,
<v Speaker 1>and you can just tell that it's made by great developers.
<v Speaker 1>It feels so good. But then Donkey Konga itself, I
<v Speaker 1>imported Donkey Konga's I was like, I could not wait
<v Speaker 1>for that thing. I was so excited because I'm also
<v Speaker 1>a little bit of a rhythm game break up. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I'm Elite beat Agents and again DDR just love that stuff.
<v Speaker 1>All right, that does it for the headlines. Let's let's
<v Speaker 1>do this. Hey, do you have a question. Let's do
<v Speaker 1>a little bit of grubsnacks. Let's answer what people are
<v Speaker 1>thinking about right now. We've got a couple of minutes
<v Speaker 1>and then we'll we'll wrap this show up. So if
<v Speaker 1>you're on Twitch, just at me. If you are on
<v Speaker 1>a Giant bomb chat, use the ask a question button.
<v Speaker 1>And then if you are on YouTube, I'm sorry I
<v Speaker 1>can't see you right now, so my apologies. All right,
<v Speaker 1>let's see here from slain Nick awesome, why is Mike
<v Speaker 1>so bad at impressions? Last night, Jesse so incented a
<v Speaker 1>super chat to our show, and it was with a
<v Speaker 1>screen name Arnold Swarzenegger, because about because he's Chris Pratt's
<v Speaker 1>father in law. It's the whole thing. But Mike try
<v Speaker 1>to do it, tried to do an army impression and
<v Speaker 1>it's at first it sounded like Warrior and then it
<v Speaker 1>sounded like Hitler. It was really bad. It was really bad.
<v Speaker 1>And he listened in his defense, you know, he's mild defense.
<v Speaker 1>He never claimed to be good at voices. He's never like,
<v Speaker 1>he's like, that is not one of his skill sets.
<v Speaker 1>But it was just impressive to see how bad it was.
<v Speaker 1>It was very good stuff.
<v Speaker 2>As somebody who's also very bad at impressions, I feel
<v Speaker 2>for Mike in the strine time exactly.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, all right, let's see other questions here from mister
<v Speaker 1>dizzy stick. Has audio Surf been unfairly lost to time? Uh? Yeah, right,
<v Speaker 1>because there are other games in that genre that have
<v Speaker 1>survived but not Audio Surf. Right.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I'm trying to think of the last time I
<v Speaker 2>even really thought heavily about audio Surf. Right, it's been
<v Speaker 2>a while. I think it has unfairly been lost to
<v Speaker 2>time because I now feel shame for not thinking about
<v Speaker 2>audio as much as I should.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, God, I'm like, what did I play audio surf
<v Speaker 1>on I Count. I'm like, I can't remember, okay from
<v Speaker 1>a LEXI any word on what people can fly or
<v Speaker 1>working on Outriders was four years ago, I don't know
<v Speaker 1>a lot. Yeah, I feel like there was rumors recently
<v Speaker 1>about what they were working on, but now I can't remember.
<v Speaker 1>But yeah, I think we'll probably find out pretty soon.
<v Speaker 1>Right Outriders being four years ago, they will probably have
<v Speaker 1>something to follow that up here in the next year
<v Speaker 1>or so. You would imagine, like you, studio like that
<v Speaker 1>probably doesn't want to take seven eight years between games.
<v Speaker 1>They probably want to try to get as close to
<v Speaker 1>five to six as they can, so we probably do
<v Speaker 1>hear about it in this in twenty twenty five. Wouldn't
<v Speaker 1>be surprised by that at all. Yeah, all right, let's
<v Speaker 1>see here from top Tomp what our game releases in
<v Speaker 1>twenty twenty five you are most looking forward to, Jess,
<v Speaker 1>you got an answer?
<v Speaker 2>I mean Monster Hunter Wild's like with a bullet like that.
<v Speaker 2>I know I've said I'm a sicko for a lot
<v Speaker 2>of things today, but like Monster Hunter is like also
<v Speaker 2>up there and the things that like Monster Hunter World,
<v Speaker 2>Monster Hunter Rise, Monster Hunter Three, like I like, I
<v Speaker 2>it's probably wild I'm sure there's another game that I'm
<v Speaker 2>not thinking of right now that I'm like super excited for.
<v Speaker 2>But why let's say Wilds is the safe bet right now.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, that's definitely an early one I'm looking for to.
<v Speaker 1>I am looking forward to us CIV seven. It's like, oh,
<v Speaker 1>it's I think it's time for me to play another
<v Speaker 1>SIB game in a real sick way like I did
<v Speaker 1>three and four, and you know, I played some five
<v Speaker 1>and six, But I'm like, no, I think I'm ready
<v Speaker 1>for seven. Yeah. Pirate Pirate Yakuza. Absolutely looking forward to that,
<v Speaker 1>especially after really fall in love with like a Dragon
<v Speaker 1>Infinite Wealth. I am ready to spend more time with
<v Speaker 1>those characters.
<v Speaker 2>Aspire to another one. I think it is supposed to
<v Speaker 2>be next year.
<v Speaker 1>Yep. I want to want to see what that Pokemon
<v Speaker 1>Legends game is because I like the last Pokemon Legends.
<v Speaker 1>Let's see what zas all about?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, yoh yeah, yeah, yeah, big time.
<v Speaker 1>Let's see here from oh yeah, here we go from
<v Speaker 1>put Poto Skull. This one's for you, Jesse. Can you
<v Speaker 1>recommend any Rhythm games.
<v Speaker 2>I'm gonna go to bat for Clone Hero here. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I know it's the one I mentioned earlier, but I
<v Speaker 2>think it's a lot easier to get into than people
<v Speaker 2>might think it is. It is a free download. There
<v Speaker 2>is a application called Bridge that you can download that
<v Speaker 2>has all of the songs compiled into one place that
<v Speaker 2>you can literally just click download and it just puts
<v Speaker 2>it into your your lit like your folder in your game.
<v Speaker 2>And then if you have any sort of rock band
<v Speaker 2>or guitar hero guitar that can plug USB into your PC,
<v Speaker 2>like you're good to go. Like it's a few steps.
<v Speaker 2>But like, I think you would be surprised by how
<v Speaker 2>big that catalog of music is because there it's all
<v Speaker 2>the rock and stuff, all the guitar and stuff, and
<v Speaker 2>then it's all custom stuff. It's people are doing like
<v Speaker 2>modified tracks, and they're doing like fun stuff, Like trying
<v Speaker 2>to think of like a really good example, like people
<v Speaker 2>will just like make memes into tracks and then you
<v Speaker 2>play it and it's like five seconds and it's the
<v Speaker 2>funniest thing you've ever seen. You could play Coconut Mall
<v Speaker 2>at three hundred and fifty percent speed. Yeah, it's a
<v Speaker 2>good time. It's a really really good time. The other
<v Speaker 2>one that I would I would shout out is Thumper.
<v Speaker 2>That was I was back on the PS four. Thumper
<v Speaker 2>was like a.
<v Speaker 1>Really really good one VR version of it. Yeah. Yeah, uh.
<v Speaker 2>Those are probably the two that I go back to
<v Speaker 2>most frequently. I would say, if.
<v Speaker 1>You have a DS laying around and you haven't played it,
<v Speaker 1>please play Elite Beat Agents. That is just a real
<v Speaker 1>classic video game, one of my favorite on the DS.
<v Speaker 1>So you know, if you have a three DS you
<v Speaker 1>can find a way to play that as well. Make
<v Speaker 1>it so perrap the Rapper good Guitar room Man. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>have you played the Guitar Room Man?
<v Speaker 2>I have not played Guitar room Man.
<v Speaker 1>Okay, there you go. That's a stream right there. We'll
<v Speaker 1>tune in. Everyone watched Jesse play Guitar I'll.
<v Speaker 2>Play Guitar room Man. I'll put it on my list
<v Speaker 2>next to Mister Mosquito is the other one that.
<v Speaker 1>I just downloaded Mister Mosquito on the PS five because
<v Speaker 1>it was part of the Classics and I was like,
<v Speaker 1>that was the first time in years of having PlayStation
<v Speaker 1>Plus Premium on and off that I downloaded any classic
<v Speaker 1>game using that service, which is but the whole reason
<v Speaker 1>to pay for that tier. And it's like man, I'm
<v Speaker 1>such a goddamn sucker. All right, let's do one more here.
<v Speaker 1>Let's good find a question a scrub mcgrub. What are
<v Speaker 1>the odds that switch to gets announced when grub is
<v Speaker 1>on vacation. What do you think, Jesse?
<v Speaker 2>I think it's unlikely, but I think that could be
<v Speaker 2>the funniest meanwhere it's like Nintendo, you have the opportunity
<v Speaker 2>to do the funniest thing right now, like that that's
<v Speaker 2>that moment.
<v Speaker 1>Yep, yep. I think it's a there's definitely a chance
<v Speaker 1>because of that. Specifically, this is a company that's messed
<v Speaker 1>with me before the last time I cut my hair
<v Speaker 1>because I met right prime. So that they're not below that,
<v Speaker 1>they're not beneath that they would do that every time.
<v Speaker 1>Oh and then Mitch nar wants to know, Grub, what
<v Speaker 1>are you most excited to do on your trip? I
<v Speaker 1>think I'm most excited to like take the family on
<v Speaker 1>some rides that I know are fun. The Mickey and
<v Speaker 1>Minnie's Runaway Railway. I think it's called, Uh, I'm excited
<v Speaker 1>to take them on next they like those cartoons that
<v Speaker 1>is just a really good one. And Rise of the
<v Speaker 1>Resistance of course. Then I'm excited for a lot some
<v Speaker 1>of the meals, you know where we got some character
<v Speaker 1>dinners and stuff like that. Uh, going to Ohana for
<v Speaker 1>breakfast one day, I'm just like I want to. I
<v Speaker 1>wanted some good food, So looking forward to all that.
<v Speaker 1>Uh yeah, the kids will be confused. This's who these
<v Speaker 1>mice cartoons are. Dan Record says sure, yeah, uh okay,
<v Speaker 1>thank you so much for doing that with me. Everybody.
<v Speaker 1>Always fun to get back into grub snacks a little bit. Uh,
<v Speaker 1>let's get to the poll question. And while I do that,
<v Speaker 1>Jesse Vitelli, why don't you tell people what you got
<v Speaker 1>going on where they can find you on the internet
<v Speaker 1>and all of that good stuff.
<v Speaker 2>All right, Well, first of all, thank you for having
<v Speaker 2>me course anytime, pleasure to come on here. Love chopping
<v Speaker 2>it up with you, Like, uh yeah, so you can
<v Speaker 2>find me on Blue Sky is primarily where I'm at now.
<v Speaker 2>Mama Vitelli dot Besky dot Social, I think is the handle.
<v Speaker 2>I don't really know how blue Sky handles work. I
<v Speaker 2>think it's like if you type in Mama of Vitelli
<v Speaker 2>or Jesse by Telly, you'll find I think.
<v Speaker 1>I typed in Jesse Vittelly and I found you that way,
<v Speaker 1>I think, yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Okay, yeah, so just type in moname Jesse if I
<v Speaker 2>tell you'll find me there. I have a newsletter that
<v Speaker 2>is nothing to do with video games. If you are
<v Speaker 2>into that, you can find it on my Blue Sky profile.
<v Speaker 2>It's just me talking about random things that happened to
<v Speaker 2>me throughout the week and funny things that my friends
<v Speaker 2>say sometimes, and maybe a music recommendation or two. That's
<v Speaker 2>more of just like a thing for me than it
<v Speaker 2>is anything. It's way to keep people in my personal
<v Speaker 2>life and professional lives updated on what's going on with
<v Speaker 2>me every week. They're short, they get sent right to
<v Speaker 2>your email. You don't got to go to a website
<v Speaker 2>or do anything fancy like that. You just you know,
<v Speaker 2>you just read it in your inbox and you're like, okay, cool,
<v Speaker 2>forget about this. Clown love that and yeah, that's really
<v Speaker 2>That's really all I got going on currently. I'm kind
<v Speaker 2>of just chilling. I'm gonna be on a panel tomorrow.
<v Speaker 2>But Why Though is doing some fundraising for their website
<v Speaker 2>to pay their freelance writers for next year, and so
<v Speaker 2>you can tune into that if you just type butt
<v Speaker 2>why Though onto twitch or you Blue Sky Twitter, You'll
<v Speaker 2>find all of the cool things that are going on there.
<v Speaker 2>I'll be on a panel talking fantasy and what we
<v Speaker 2>love about fantasy with some other really cool people. So
<v Speaker 2>I highly recommend you tune into that over the weekend
<v Speaker 2>because they'll be going all week shout outs.
<v Speaker 1>To boat why though, who everyone should tune into that
<v Speaker 1>help them out. They got some good writers over there,
<v Speaker 1>writers that have you know, really broken out and made
<v Speaker 1>the industry better. So I'd love to see them get
<v Speaker 1>some port All right, poll question from yesterday, let's see here,
<v Speaker 1>are you getting Lego Horizon Adventures? Ninety two percent say no,
<v Speaker 1>eight percent say yes. I wonder if the reviews were
<v Speaker 1>a little bit better, if that number would be a
<v Speaker 1>little bit better as well. But yeah, I think that
<v Speaker 1>this game is going to, first of all, not necessarily
<v Speaker 1>appeal to the audience that's showing up to answer this question,
<v Speaker 1>and then hearing that it's a little bit more boring
<v Speaker 1>version of a lot of other Lego games, it's like, oh,
<v Speaker 1>that's you know, those games can be a little you know,
<v Speaker 1>a little you know, stale already, and a more boring
<v Speaker 1>version of that. It doesn't sound very enticing at all,
<v Speaker 1>But I still I had good time playing that game
<v Speaker 1>when I played it at Summer Game Fest, so I'm
<v Speaker 1>still a little bit curious. I think if I, if
<v Speaker 1>I can get a code from Sony, I might put
<v Speaker 1>in front of the kids. But I'm not going to
<v Speaker 1>be seeking this out it But is this like a
<v Speaker 1>seventy dollars game? I assume it probably is, so I
<v Speaker 1>don't know, maybe maybe it's not. I don't know. Are
<v Speaker 1>you going to check this out?
<v Speaker 2>Not even a little bit?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah? Are you? Are you a Horizon person at all?
<v Speaker 2>I played that first game, and I think that first
<v Speaker 2>game was like enough for me. I was like, Okay, cool,
<v Speaker 2>I get what this is.
<v Speaker 1>Sure get the story.
<v Speaker 2>The back half of that story is like better than
<v Speaker 2>the front half of that story. And then I played
<v Speaker 2>two hours of Forbidden West and they have a whole
<v Speaker 2>scene where it's like you're getting ready to move to
<v Speaker 2>like the new part of like the world that you're
<v Speaker 2>going to, and they're like, here, talk to all of
<v Speaker 2>the characters from the first game before you leave. And
<v Speaker 2>I had no idea who any of those people were.
<v Speaker 2>And I played the first game. I was like, I
<v Speaker 2>don't remember any of you. Yep, maybe I just don't
<v Speaker 2>like this game.
<v Speaker 1>That's I mean, I think it's my opinion on Horizon
<v Speaker 1>in general. It's like I played each of them for
<v Speaker 1>a handful of hours and I go, Okay, cool, I
<v Speaker 1>get what you're doing here. I've had enough of it
<v Speaker 1>for me. I don't really have a problem with it,
<v Speaker 1>but I get it. I'm moving on. So yeah, but
<v Speaker 1>Lego Horizon Adventures I thought would be a little bit
<v Speaker 1>more enticing. I'd like its sense of humor at least,
<v Speaker 1>but I don't know that's gonna be enough to convince
<v Speaker 1>me to get that game. All right, new poll question.
<v Speaker 1>We'll answer this when I get back everybody. That could
<v Speaker 1>be the Monday after next week, or maybe even the Wednesday,
<v Speaker 1>depending on how my travel ghost coming back. But yeah,
<v Speaker 1>either way, we'll let you know. We'll keep you posted.
<v Speaker 1>But at that time, we will answer this poll question.
<v Speaker 1>Which game are you most looking forward to in February?
<v Speaker 1>This is the most recent. I can only do four
<v Speaker 1>games now because YouTube took away the option to have
<v Speaker 1>more than that, so Civilization seven, Assassin's Creed Shadows Avowed,
<v Speaker 1>or Monster Hunter Wild's Curious to see what you're all
<v Speaker 1>are going to go with? I have my hunch on
<v Speaker 1>what's going to do best, but I kind of want
<v Speaker 1>to see how this all shakes out. How about you? You
<v Speaker 1>said Monster Hunter Wilds is what you're most looking forward to.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, also for February, though, like Assassin's Creed, I'm thinking
<v Speaker 2>about it more and more every Yeah, I think I
<v Speaker 2>might try that game.
<v Speaker 1>I'm kind of in the mood for one. Definitely. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>we'll see again. Busy month. That could That could change
<v Speaker 1>if if I get stuck, you know, a Vowed takes
<v Speaker 1>over and I'm playing a bunch of that, maybe I
<v Speaker 1>won't play Assassin's Creed. But right now looking at that,
<v Speaker 1>it's like, yeah, go forward to that. Our willis they'll
<v Speaker 1>still be playing Bilatra. Okay, all right, I think I
<v Speaker 1>think that's going to do everything. There is more stuff
<v Speaker 1>happening on Giant Bomb. I'm not here, so I don't
<v Speaker 1>really know what it is. That they're gonna do a UPF.
<v Speaker 1>I don't think there's a BCR this week, but they're
<v Speaker 1>gonna do a UPF. I think the idea is to
<v Speaker 1>play Call of Duty. Jan mentioned maybe some web fishing
<v Speaker 1>things like that, but definitely Call of Duty Black Ops six.
<v Speaker 1>Tune in for that I'll be watching kind of in
<v Speaker 1>the background while I'm finishing up some stuff here. They're
<v Speaker 1>gonna do stay Coms out twenty four to seven.
<v Speaker 2>Oh they took that out. They removed it.
<v Speaker 1>They removed it.
<v Speaker 2>Oh Dad, they removed it yesterday.
<v Speaker 1>I want to play it yesterday. Well there you go.
<v Speaker 1>All right, So Sean, you have to do something said
<v Speaker 1>he says, or whatever they have now. So yeah, they
<v Speaker 1>probably have some other a playlist that you'll get into radio. Yeah. Man,
<v Speaker 1>I kind of wish I could have some time to
<v Speaker 1>play Call of Duty, but I'll just get back and
<v Speaker 1>play with you guys then, all right, I think in
<v Speaker 1>that case, any other things to clean up here, I
<v Speaker 1>don't know. I'll just I hope you all have a
<v Speaker 1>good week next week. You know, I will actually miss
<v Speaker 1>you when I'm gone. I love doing this show, love
<v Speaker 1>doing all the other stuff. But I'm gonna go enjoy
<v Speaker 1>my vacation. And in the meantime, though, Jesse Kelly, thank
<v Speaker 1>you for giving me a really excellent episode to send
<v Speaker 1>me off on. I really appreciate it. Man.
<v Speaker 2>That's what I'm here for, and I appreciate you for
<v Speaker 2>having me that way. We could finish up the week
<v Speaker 2>and you can get your family to Disney World. Hewer Land,
<v Speaker 2>I don't know the difference between the two, for being honest, but.
<v Speaker 1>It's once in Florida. That's the only big difference. Yep.
<v Speaker 1>Love you man, Thank you appreciate it. Thank you all
<v Speaker 1>for watching and listening. You are the best audience in gaming.
<v Speaker 1>Until next time, have a good one, take care of
<v Speaker 1>yourself and goodbye.
