Speaker 1: You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox Sports Radio Final Hour.

00:00:05
Speaker 2: In this Monday more phone calls coming up, we will give you our best and worst of the weekend, which we always do every Monday, eight seven, seven to three DP. Show operator Tyler is sitting by, sitting by with my dog Winnie. Every time Mario, who directs the show, he's the Eyes and Ears, shows the camera on Tyler in they're ready to answer your phone calls. Then my dog goes crazy because my dog is barking to protect Tyler. But she's actually barking at herself. Now, she went into the control room, so she's there by Anthony and Mario. Now, if they're gonna wake her up, she's gonna see herself on camera and there, let's see. Is she going to start barking? Yep, there she goes. She is gonna protect those guys. What a good dog barking at yourself. It's yourself on camera.

00:01:03
Speaker 3: Yes, Paul, it's good to know she's not watching another show and just enjoying it. She's actually watching us.

00:01:08
Speaker 2: Well, she does like get up like this, saying, you know it takes you a big, big fan of Greeney, you might get up but she's she watches our show. Then after that, all RIGHTY eight seven seven three DP, show operator Tyler sitting by. Good morning if you're watching on Peacock or NBC Sports Network as we start on NBC Sports Network today and you can download the app for a Peacock. And by the way, speaking of Peacock, NBA on NBC and Peacock tonight. It's Monday and Tuesdays in primetime Coast to Coast on Tuesday on NBC and Peacock. Reggie Miller will join us on the program tomorrow. All right, pull question for the final hour of the program is gonna be what Dylan.

00:01:51
Speaker 4: We got this one from Marvin too. I actually like this one a lot. The better Jeremiah in college football Jeremiah love.

00:01:57
Speaker 2: For Jeremiah Smith, Well might be different, if a different opinion, if you said, how to NFL scouts view the Jeremiahs, because they might look at Ohio State's Jeremiah over notre Dames Jeremiah. It always, you know, we have these players occasionally where they're a freshman or a sophomore, even a junior, and you're going, man, they got to go back and play one more year. Whereas college basketball, you don't. You can just go I mean most sports you can just go free marketplace, but football player, no, you gotta stay three years. And Jeremiah Love has been great for Notre Dame. That backfield is great defenses. I mean, that's a team that can really make a run in the playoffs. I feel like they run the ball, and they got a really good defense, and they got a great coach.

00:02:56
Speaker 5: Yes, Mart, Yeah, I think that's what always helps college football is that they can build stars for three years now or two years or whatever. Hey, you know what, Jeremy Smith, he's coming back because no matter what, he's got to come back for another year.

00:03:10
Speaker 2: You know, when you make the other receivers that much better, and that's what he's able to do. That he is, He's a great player on a great team. All Right, what else do we have there, Dylan? Do you want to clean up the poll questions from the previous hours?

00:03:25
Speaker 4: Yeah, So, if you're not a Raiders or Cowboys fan, why are you watching tonight's game? Sixty one percent? Just love football, Dan? And then worst loss of the weekend was resoundingly the Chargers, and worst win was resoundingly the Ravens.

00:03:40
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that I didn't watch that game. I just saw the highlights. But it's weird there weren't any highlights. Yeah, you're watching a game and like the red zone was trying to dress it up a little bit. And you know Miles Garrett with four sacks, or when shoud Or Sanders came in. If you missed Tim Hasselbeck, he was on last hour. He's a former NFL quarterback, backup quarterback, and he spoke firsthand about backup quarterbacks don't get first team reps. And so for these analysts who keep trying to make excuses for Shador Sanders, backup quarterbacks don't get first team reps. He got in because Dylan Gabriel got hurt. I hope he gets a chance to start. I hope he gets a chance to play a few games, because then they can have a fair assessment of him and Dylan Gabriel. If they're going to be quarterbacks, they're going to keep. And is Deshaun Watson coming back at some point by the end of the year. And I think you're on the hook for next year with Deshaun Watson as well, So they're going to have a couple of first round draft picks. I just don't know about this draft class. I mean I've I've watched, you know, Julian Sayan and Fernando Mendoza. Mendoza had his moment there with the Penn State comeback. Julian Sayan is completing eighty percent.

00:04:58
Speaker 6: Of his passes.

00:05:00
Speaker 2: We've seen Ohio State quarterbacks, including Justin Fields, complete most of their passes. That doesn't mean anything, Yeah, I mean, it means something for your college career. But if you project that to the NFL, you're not going to have those kind of openings.

00:05:17
Speaker 7: You're not.

00:05:18
Speaker 2: And if you watch, the precision of completing a pass sometimes is remarkable in the NFL where you place it and then you know it's on display every weekend. But there are times when you go that's not many people can do that. There's a lot that can do it in college. Because if you watch college, and you'll go, man, that guys wide open. Yeah, that's college. When you have an elite wide receiver or receivers, a good line, the threat of a running back, quarterback who's pretty good. Yeah, chances are you're going to complete sixty sixty five percent of your passes.

00:05:57
Speaker 7: I mean now, you look at it.

00:05:58
Speaker 2: If you don't complete at least sixty percent, we're going, what's wrong with him? I mean, Josh Allen was a fifty seven percent completion guy at Wyoming and that was a big question mark with him, and I had that his first year. I was like, he doesn't know how to play this game. And he does know how to play it now just ask the Buccaneers. And here is the call of Josh Allen's third rushing touchdown in the game.

00:06:28
Speaker 8: Three receivers to the left, cooked to the right of Allen and the shotgun here on second and four, Alan back to pass now going to tuck it and run as he's looking for the end zone and.

00:06:37
Speaker 3: The surge pushes him in for his sixth touchdown of the game.

00:06:43
Speaker 1: He is a.

00:06:43
Speaker 3: Beast with a capitol B.

00:06:46
Speaker 7: He is a scoring machine.

00:06:48
Speaker 3: He has tied his career high in a football game with his sixth touchdown.

00:06:54
Speaker 2: Courtesy of the Bills Radio Network. He doesn't slide, but they needed those touchdowns. He had a couple interceptions as well, but he might have to be the single handedly trying to carry this team in the postseason.

00:07:11
Speaker 9: Now.

00:07:11
Speaker 7: I like Cook.

00:07:13
Speaker 2: I think he's a good running back, but you got a couple of tight ends.

00:07:18
Speaker 7: But you're looking at Josh Allen. Can he be superman?

00:07:23
Speaker 6: Yeah?

00:07:23
Speaker 3: Pauline, you were talking about the quarterback draft class for this upcoming year and how wonky it is. I've got a mock draft from the last week of August from a major organization, media organization. Arch Manning is one. He will probably not be in this draft. Leonora Sellers was two. He said an up and down year. Kay Klebnika Clemson was three. He is off the map. You go down to Sam Levitt of Arizona State was in the top ten, injured, Drew Aller Penn State in the top fifteen, injured, Drew Nussmeyer of LSU. All these guys are off the map. It's like a total rebuild of the quarterback draft class.

00:08:00
Speaker 2: Yeah, and they should all probably go back those who can. But this was supposed to be one of those drift classes. And we say this every year, that next draft class is going to be unbelievable until it's not. Jason in Atlanta, Hi, Jas, what's on your mind?

00:08:18
Speaker 7: Hey? What's going on?

00:08:19
Speaker 10: Dan?

00:08:19
Speaker 7: Always a pleasure to talk to you.

00:08:20
Speaker 9: I got the best and worst of the weekend the best, absolutely best coach team in college football, UJA putting it on sexas this week. Ken Kirby smart, just the smartest guy out there.

00:08:29
Speaker 7: Grateful to have him to.

00:08:31
Speaker 10: Be a coach.

00:08:32
Speaker 6: That's the best.

00:08:33
Speaker 9: But unfortunately Sunday comes around and while we got a good coach in college, we got an awful one in the NFL. The Falcons just doing it to ourselves. It's not just that we lose, man, it's how we lose. We're the first team in NFL history to lose back to back overtime games and back to back weeks. Also another kind of stat of the day here, we've had eighteen sacks in the last three games and lost every game, also a first in the NFL historical losses. Pathetically put that, I don't know what else to do from here, Dan, I'm stuck being a fan and I hate it.

00:09:04
Speaker 7: I know it is.

00:09:05
Speaker 2: It's like a self imposed purgatory where you're like, how did I get here? How do I get out? Can I get on parole? Can I have somebody spring me? But you're stuck with it and that dread that you have where you go, how are we going to lose this weekend? Let's gather the kids around the TV set and see how we're going to lose this week.

00:09:30
Speaker 3: Big A sports fan is the weirdest thing. If a team stinks, you stick and stick for that one good year. Imagine there was a restaurant near you, and every time you went it was just a terrible meal and it's overpriced. But you're seventeen years into going there. One of these days they're going to make my steak well.

00:09:45
Speaker 2: But it's kind of like that's the only place you can go eat. It's the only restaurant. It's like your sports team. It's like, I'm stuck with this. We're going to go to that restaurant, it's not going to be any good, and then we'll go again next week as well.

00:09:58
Speaker 4: Yes, Dylan, Yeah, your team's just the American Steakhouse of teams and you can't do anything no, no name. Oh sorry I just made that up.

00:10:07
Speaker 2: Okay, all right, yeah Brandon in Michigan, Hi, Brandon, what's on your mind?

00:10:16
Speaker 10: All right?

00:10:16
Speaker 11: Then? Six two two sixty three. Sorry, I know it's off topic, but I just want to talk about Steph Curry, you know, being thirty seven and having these back to back, you know, forty plus games. Can we finally put him in to the top ten of all time just based on scale and accomplishment.

00:10:42
Speaker 2: Okay, but you have to tell me who you're taking out. Sometimes we have fifteen guys in the top ten.

00:10:48
Speaker 11: Yeah, I mean, honestly, I feel like Bird and Magic might have to go out of it, out of the top ten.

00:10:55
Speaker 7: Wait, wait, Bird and Magic are leaving?

00:10:58
Speaker 11: Yeah, I would them out honestly.

00:11:01
Speaker 7: How old are you, Brandon? I'm sorry, how old are you, Brandon?

00:11:08
Speaker 11: I'm a thirty nine.

00:11:09
Speaker 7: Yeah, that's the problem. You missed it, you But hey, you want to put Steph in.

00:11:16
Speaker 2: He's he's had as big of an impact as anybody in playing the game Global that's Mike. But as far as playing the game, what Steph has done, He's won titles, MVPs, he changed the game.

00:11:34
Speaker 7: They win.

00:11:35
Speaker 2: Uh so, sure, but you have to tell me who you're taking out. Bird and Magic are one spot. Okay, the impact They saved the NBA or revitalize the NBA. You know, Jordan is the second guy on the moon, Magic and third guy because it was Magic and Larry and then Mike came in. But if you're gonna put Steph in, tell me who you're taking out now. If you want to start, let's say your rankings from nineteen eighty on, seventy five on, because then you take out Wilt and then you take out Bill Russell. If you want to do that, fine, you might have not have Jerry West in there, But are you going to put Steph in and take Tim Duncan out? Is Joker getting into the top ten? Is Kevin Durant in the top ten?

00:12:35
Speaker 9: Hey?

00:12:36
Speaker 2: I mean these are fun arguments and a little off topic today. But Steph had back to back forty point games, and he shot a shot over Wemby. I can't imagine. Okay, so it's deep, it looked ai. But he shoots a fade away three over Wemby, who's seven to six and with his reach is probably you know, that's ten feet probably that he's got his hand up and Steph has this quick release and he got it up over him. He made the shot, but he's going for forty six. I mean it's great. I mean I've been spoiled all of the great basketball that I've got to see and holding on for dear life with certainly Steph. Lebron's going to be coming back eventually, kd as Well is still playing at a high level. It's those are three of the greatest players of all time. Now we got to see bird in Magic and Michael at the same You know some guys who've played at the same time, but these are three of the all time greats and are all three going to be in the top ten when it's all said and done.

00:13:44
Speaker 3: Yeah, Paul, I'm watching the clip of Steph's shot over women Yama. It looks like one of those practice plays where the trainer holds up a broom to try to make you shoot over him. It's not a natural basketball shot. Any normal player would have airballed that shot.

00:13:59
Speaker 2: And an oh well, Hi, Ann, thanks for holding what's on your mind today?

00:14:03
Speaker 12: Hi, I'm five nine, I'm eighty years old.

00:14:09
Speaker 7: Well, welcome man, thank you.

00:14:12
Speaker 12: I truly believe that if Samue Lafleur had been in that game last night, they would have won because Goth can throw to him, and he doesn't seem to be able to throw to anybody else like he throws to Sammy. Okay, And the only person I've heard express that same uh belief is is Chris Consworth. Last night, he said the same thing. But I haven't heard another sportscaster this morning say that or even talk about him. And also, you know George got two touchdowns last night too, yesterday George Kittle, Oh.

00:14:50
Speaker 2: I know this is an eye what tight ends call? We Yeah, I mean, I appreciate it, Manny, but thank you, thank you for the phone call. I thought it was kind of Iowa centric here, great Iowa tight ends here, he said Nile Kinnick.

00:15:05
Speaker 7: Was he a was he a running back? Running back at Iowa?

00:15:09
Speaker 6: Yes?

00:15:10
Speaker 5: Yes, Mark, Can we get all the Iowa when we go to Iowa? Can we get all the Iowa tight ends? Just come on the show, Dallas.

00:15:16
Speaker 2: Clark, Marv Cook, Marv Cook, you've cut, yes, Dallas Clark.

00:15:22
Speaker 7: Yeah, they've had, they've had. They were a fair share.

00:15:25
Speaker 6: Like if you were a top nuts tight end, where are you going Iowa? Really?

00:15:29
Speaker 2: Well, it used to be linebackers went to Penn State. Right now, wide receivers go to Ohio State.

00:15:35
Speaker 6: I think defensive backs used to go to like l s.

00:15:37
Speaker 7: U Okay, Texas. Yes, Paul TJ.

00:15:41
Speaker 3: Hockinson, Oh yeah, Hockinson.

00:15:45
Speaker 2: I think that's what happened to Jamar Chase, Jalen Ramsey Hockinson they got the Hockinson on his face mask there, all right, we'll come back. We will give you our best and worst of the weekend right after this.

00:15:57
Speaker 1: Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio w.

00:16:06
Speaker 8: App Hey, we're Covino and Rich Fox Sports Radio every day five.

00:16:10
Speaker 7: To seven pm Eastern. But here's the thing.

00:16:12
Speaker 8: We never have enough time to get to everything we want to get.

00:16:15
Speaker 13: To, and that's why we have a brand new podcast called over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun in our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly, because this guy is over promising things we never have time for.

00:16:28
Speaker 1: Yeah, you blubber list lame and me.

00:16:30
Speaker 8: Well, you know what it's called over promise. You should be good at it because you've been over promising women for years.

00:16:34
Speaker 13: Well, it's a Cavino and Rich after show, and we want you to be a part of it. We're gonna be talking sports, of course, but we're also gonna talk life and relationships. And if Rich and I are arguing about something or we didn't have enough time, it will continue on our after show called over promised.

00:16:48
Speaker 8: Well, if you don't get enough Covino and Rich, make sure you check out over promised and also uncensored by the way, so maybe we'll go at it even a little harder. It's gonna be the best after show podcast.

00:16:57
Speaker 4: Of all time.

00:16:58
Speaker 13: There you go, over promising. Remember you could see on YouTube, but definitely join us. Listen over Promised with Cabino and Rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.

00:17:10
Speaker 2: Oh, we've waited long enough. The Dan nuts keep reminding me. We want to give our best and worse Dylan in for seating Fritzie's here, Marv Paula, yours truly, so Dylan, I'll let you start your best and worst of the WEEKA.

00:17:23
Speaker 4: Thank you, Dan, My best our guy Diego Pavia hanging out at UFC three twenty two with injured Cam Scatibow and Hasbula. They made a pretty funny trio Camp Scattabo rocking some grills. Okay, quite the dynamic trio. And then my worst weekend Dan, of course, my Rhode Island FC loses in dramatic fashion one nothing to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds and the USL Conference championship.

00:17:49
Speaker 2: What a disaster, all right, thank you channeling your inner seat in Eric Todd Best and Worst of the weekn Best.

00:17:54
Speaker 14: Of the weekend the Georgia Bulldog's impressive handling of Archie Manning in Texas. They were aggressive and convernning fourth downs even mixed into onside kick Longhorns looked a little confused, especially in the first half. Worst South Carolina and Iowa not finding a way to hold on to big leads against A and M and USC game cat flew a twenty seven point half time lead. Iowa had two fourteen point leads in the first half, get outscored nineteen nothing the rest of the way.

00:18:16
Speaker 5: Marvin Best and Worst I got two Best Dan First Best Kiwan Lacy Ole Miss running back thirty one carries two hundred and twenty four yards, three touchdowns. Other Best your boy, my boy, Tom Cruise got an honorary oscar for his lifetime achievement in acting good is that I don't like the honoraries. He doesn't have a regular one. Correct, He's been nominated three times.

00:18:42
Speaker 6: No wins? Yeah, yeah, is that one of those you know what, we'll give you.

00:18:46
Speaker 2: This, yeah, Mike, kind of the Tom Cruise sports radio shows, not winning get nominated.

00:18:58
Speaker 7: I'm good again.

00:18:59
Speaker 3: You'll take being called the Tom Cruise of sports media is fine?

00:19:02
Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm fine. I saw him out there on the dance floor. He was dancing with Debbie Allen. Yes, was that Norm Nixon's ex wife and she was current current wife? Okay, whoop?

00:19:14
Speaker 7: Sorry? Wasn't she in fame?

00:19:18
Speaker 5: Yes, she was in fame. She directed a different world. She's related to Felicia, She's sisters. Well, Felicia was Felicia were shots?

00:19:25
Speaker 3: He's yes, yes, Paul Tom Cruise didn't win it for born on the fourth of July he was nominated. He didn't win that one.

00:19:32
Speaker 14: I do know.

00:19:34
Speaker 3: He crushed that one.

00:19:35
Speaker 14: Yes, besides it not being the same as actually winning, I guess the Academy War. There was something a little morbid about that too, like before you die, we want to make sure we acknowledge you properly.

00:19:43
Speaker 2: I know I'd rather if you did it and you gave me a Sports Emmy after I died. Okay, I don't want it after my career is over, because then it feels like I'm I'm dead.

00:19:54
Speaker 7: I'm dead to society.

00:19:55
Speaker 4: Yes, I'm just sick. Of all these dang participation trips.

00:19:58
Speaker 7: I know, I know, Yeah, I don't. I don't want that.

00:20:03
Speaker 6: I don't.

00:20:04
Speaker 2: All I care is I'm up there on the big screen in Memoriam at the Academy Awards when I pass away, and I would think being in over twenty movies. I'm hoping Sandler, who's now become kind of a Hollywood darling. I text him yesterday, I said, Man thirty years to become an overnight sensation. Congratulations sand Man, because he's in that George Clooney movie and he maybe he gets nominated, Maybe he gets nominated. They're eventually gonna get sand Man an Academy Award because every time he does a serious movie, all these critics will be like man who knew?

00:20:42
Speaker 6: Who knew?

00:20:43
Speaker 2: Happy Gilmour to do that. Sandman is so incredibly talented when you go see him in concert plays all those instruments makes up all those songs, and I mean quite a performer.

00:20:56
Speaker 3: Yes, Paul who gets an ASCAR first, Tom Cruise, Adam Sandler.

00:21:02
Speaker 7: Well, Cruise just got his, but like for a role.

00:21:04
Speaker 3: A traditional Oscar, best Actor, best support Sandman.

00:21:09
Speaker 2: I think Sandler will get an Oscar before Tom Cruise.

00:21:14
Speaker 3: Like Indiana football being ranked number two in the country.

00:21:17
Speaker 6: Yeah.

00:21:17
Speaker 7: Matter how many roles does Tom Cruise have? Where you go?

00:21:20
Speaker 6: Wow?

00:21:22
Speaker 2: I get They're all action movies for the most part. What's the one role Tropic Thunder that stands out? Because he wasn't Tom Cruise that would He was very entertaining there. Yes, do can he even win one after getting the lifetime oscar? Is that sort of from the running for any If they do Tropic Thunder two, do they take away the lifetime one if he gets a real one?

00:21:49
Speaker 4: I think you should, yes, Paul.

00:21:51
Speaker 3: Yeah, Tom Cruise has a few good men Magnolia, Color of Money, Vanilla Sky, The Last Samurai, some more serious movies.

00:22:00
Speaker 2: Yeah, but that that's a while ago. Now everything is Mission Impossible or Top Gun Reacher. He's also in Reacher. Save the movie industry there, Dad, Yes, he did. I know Setan loves to bring that up, but he did. He brought people back to the theaters for uh Maverick, Top Gun. He did uh Tommy and Madison. Oh, Paul, I didn't get to your best and worst of the weekend.

00:22:26
Speaker 3: I got a couple best okay, okay, Navy Football Wow, forty one, thirty eight over South Florida eight and two. Navy football. Could they crash the party? Their wide receiver receiver Eli Heidenreich five for one six and then another great game, Dan Harvard over Penn twenty seconds left. They drive down Kieran Corer, sophomore field goal kicker fifty three yards to get a piece of the IVY League title.

00:22:50
Speaker 2: That's nuts, Tommy and Madison. Hi Tommy, what's on your mind today?

00:22:55
Speaker 15: Hey?

00:22:56
Speaker 16: Dan?

00:22:56
Speaker 17: Thanks so much.

00:22:57
Speaker 18: I think Tom Cruise is on a mission impossible. Okay, best and worst, the best Packers squeaking out a win against the Giants. Boy, that wasn't pretty and the worst. I got into a fight with my brother and when my dad asked me about it, he was only going to ground me for a week, but I lied to him, so no, I'm grounded for three more weeks. So that's kind of the whole NFL take on the game fighting all right?

00:23:25
Speaker 2: Thank you, Tommy. My son, who's a Packer fan. I got him a jacket when we were up there in Green Bay, and he went to the game yesterday. So I saw him in the morning and he has the jacket on. He goes what do you think I said, looks gorgeous. He said, should I wear it? I said, well, if you're going to a Jets gamer an Eagles game, I'd say no, don't, don't fly your colors. But Giants fans, I don't think they're angry. I think that you're okay. And so they win the game and comes back I said, drama goes.

00:24:00
Speaker 9: No.

00:24:01
Speaker 2: No, they were very respectable. And you know, even said that's a sharp jacket.

00:24:06
Speaker 7: Yes, Paul.

00:24:07
Speaker 3: Is that more about the Giants being a nice fan base or Packers fans not inspiring violence that's not a franchise you get upset with.

00:24:14
Speaker 7: Probably both.

00:24:14
Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean Packer fans are They're unbelievably nice.

00:24:20
Speaker 7: They just are.

00:24:22
Speaker 2: Jets fans. I've seen that firsthand. Eagles fans now, some just maybe a small sample size there. But I would not be wearing my colors if I'm in Philadelphia or a Jets game.

00:24:35
Speaker 3: If you're in the mood to get punched in the face.

00:24:37
Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm I'm not going to do that. Well.

00:24:39
Speaker 2: When Mark Wahlberg was on the show, he talked about when he was younger, got in a fight in the bathroom at a Jets game, and he said he fish hooked a guy in the bathroom.

00:24:51
Speaker 7: I don't know how famous he was that.

00:24:52
Speaker 2: He was probably Marquie Mark at the time, but he got in a fight in the bathroom because he was there with the Patriots were playing the Jets.

00:25:00
Speaker 4: Yes, Dylan, it's funny how you had a completely different reaction to it being a Jets versus Giants team and they play in the exact same.

00:25:07
Speaker 2: Building, different clientele. Yeah, yeah, because the Giants are that's old school. Uh, they've had, you know, a lot of success, a reasonable amount of success. Jets fans they just show up, I think, feeling like it's impending to like, how bad is it going to be?

00:25:25
Speaker 7: What's going to go wrong?

00:25:26
Speaker 4: This gruntled would be a good one.

00:25:28
Speaker 7: Yeah, think you could do that. Yeah.

00:25:29
Speaker 2: Yeah, It's like going to a Raider game when they were in Oakland.

00:25:32
Speaker 12: Yeah.

00:25:33
Speaker 2: I wouldn't fly my colors there in Vegas, sure, Yeah, you don't want to go in certain places and ask for it.

00:25:41
Speaker 5: Yes, Marvin, it's funny because Medlife Stadium, at least for the Giants, they feel kind of like they'll let anybody infiltrate. I've worked a couple of Giants Cowboys games that might as well be a neutral site because there's Cowboys fans everywhere.

00:25:55
Speaker 6: Yeah, and there's no real issue.

00:25:57
Speaker 2: Andrew in Tucson, Hi, Andrew, what's on your mind today?

00:26:02
Speaker 19: Good morning, mister Patrick. Hi, I'm calling uh dustin worst one of the best. Love see Notre Dame to continue on and with that, also like Steve when Texas A and M come back to strengthen Notre Dames standy.

00:26:22
Speaker 7: Oh yeah you're right, yep.

00:26:24
Speaker 19: Yeah, worse is I'm I'm listening to all these Atlanta Falcon fans calling and whining. I'm an Oakland Raider fan, so you know, pull your pants up, quit your whining, go get a sucker from the doctor's counter, and keep on watching.

00:26:44
Speaker 2: Okay, all right, that's Andrew telling you Atlanta fans put your big boy pants on. Okay, Mike and Vermont, I, Mike, what's on your mind today?

00:26:55
Speaker 6: By Dan?

00:26:56
Speaker 15: I just want to point out Fritzy staying we versus day and then the very first sentence after he says that, he says something about them doing penalties and then they do something wrong.

00:27:10
Speaker 7: Yeah, Todd got to get our pronouns.

00:27:13
Speaker 6: Got to work on that.

00:27:14
Speaker 2: Yeah, you do, big win. Though I didn't bother texting you during the game. I almost did because it was it was back and forth and it felt like Mahomes was gonna have the ball with the game on the line.

00:27:27
Speaker 14: It's amazing.

00:27:27
Speaker 6: Every week pretty much, it's been like that.

00:27:29
Speaker 14: And I don't know if there's any other team that has these cardiac last second wins or losses almost every single game.

00:27:35
Speaker 7: No, No, the Bears do. Bears do Tim and Cleveland? Hi, Tim, what's on your mind today?

00:27:43
Speaker 18: Hey Dan?

00:27:44
Speaker 20: First time, long time.

00:27:45
Speaker 21: I wanted to draw parallel from your caller.

00:27:47
Speaker 20: From Atlanta whose dad moved them from Kansas City in the late seventies. My father moved us from Pittsburgh to Cleveland, and we had to endure I'm a third generation Browns fan. We had to endure all those wins from the Steelers and the Penguins, and we got the twenty sixteen Cavaliers win zero for nothing.

00:28:10
Speaker 7: Other than that.

00:28:11
Speaker 2: Yeah, and I'd moved. We were in outside of Columbus, Ohio, and we grew up Cleveland Browns fans. And then my dad eventually got transferred to Cincinnati, and my dad said, well, we should root for the Bengals because they were a new team.

00:28:29
Speaker 7: That was in town.

00:28:31
Speaker 2: So I went from having Jim Brown and the Cleveland Browns and winning championships and being great to an expansion team, the Cincinnati Bengals. I got to see everybody play, by the way. I mean Bob Trumpy, the late Bob Trump, you just passed away. I got to see him play. Bruce Coslet, who was the Jets coach, I got to see him play. Kenny Anderson. You go down the list of everybody who's played as a Cincinnati Bengal and it wasn't good football. But yet Paul Brown, founder of the Browns, and he came to Cincinnati and they've been to a couple of Super Bowls. They've played some close Super Bowls. Problem is they play the forty nine ers when they get to those Super Bowls.

00:29:16
Speaker 3: Yes, Paul, but that eighty one Super Bowls Niners Bengals, I can remember. I was pretty young, but watching that, I thought the Bengals had him.

00:29:22
Speaker 12: Yeh.

00:29:24
Speaker 2: Now name Archie Griffin had a couple of fumbles, and Kenny Anderson, I hope gets into Hall of Fame. He was a great quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals. I don't you know the veterans Committee or whatever they do. Maybe there's something with Kenny Anderson, but he was Hall of Famer, like when you watched you felt like you were watching somebody who was a great quarterback.

00:29:45
Speaker 6: Yes, martn is that your next mission?

00:29:48
Speaker 2: No, I got I'm getting kind of stretched out with my Hall of Fame wish list, but I got to get There's like five people in different Hall of Fames that I got to get taking care of fair. Yes, Mark, Who's number one? I have to I don't want to. I would say Barry Melrose. I hope he gets in the Hockey Hall of Fame soon. I don't think Don Cherry's in the Hall of Fame. Can you check that the legendary announcer?

00:30:17
Speaker 6: I don't.

00:30:17
Speaker 2: I don't think he's in the Hockey Hall of Fame, but I would, I would say Barry Melrose.

00:30:22
Speaker 7: Yes.

00:30:23
Speaker 4: Do I say Don Cherry had a couple off the field incidents. I don't know if that well really affects the.

00:30:30
Speaker 7: Hockey, like I don't even on the iced things. Yeah, PAULI, but.

00:30:36
Speaker 3: For growth of a sport, Don Cherry you don't even have to know hockey to know who he is. He's ninety one years old. Let's get it going.

00:30:43
Speaker 2: Yeah, Rodney Harrison Pro Football Hall of Fame, Steve Garvey Baseball Hall of Fame, Donnie Baseball.

00:30:53
Speaker 7: That'd be great.

00:30:55
Speaker 2: I love Dale Murphy. I just I don't think he's a Hall of Famer. He's there, he's there, But I do know the two MVPs back to back, I believe that was great, but I just needed a little bit more, mate, maybe success in the postseason. Still one of the nicest, one of the nicest people have ever been around. Murph was a wonderful person. He is a wonderful person.

00:31:21
Speaker 6: Yes, Mark, two guys, Sonny for Caro, Yeah, and uh.

00:31:25
Speaker 2: Christian Layton, Christian Latner, Sonny for Carol should be in the Basketball Hall of Fame. To me, those are obvious Sonny for contributions to the game and Kristin for being one of the top five college basketball players of all time who had a what thirteen year NBA career and played on the dream toom.

00:31:42
Speaker 3: Yes, almost every name you just said in the past two minutes almost seems obvious, and it's weird that they're not in. It's like when we found out that day we looked up Brent Musburger and found out he did not get the Rosella Award for contributions to the NFL. We were shocked that he wasn't in. I let's not kid each other. You know, the growth of CBS and Brent must Burger.

00:32:01
Speaker 2: Yeah, but I don't know, and I ask about this, and uh, you know what, I don't. He's in, So I don't need to bring up what I was told. Maybe was holding him up, you know, nothing that was egregious or anything. But he's in. I'm thankful that Brent got in while he was still alive. All right, let me take a break. We'll come back. Now, maybe just because it's the Cowboys and it's a standalone game, but is there anything that would trumpet everything that if the Raiders happen to win convincingly, see, it's still going to lead because the Cowboys.

00:33:29
Speaker 7: Then lost in a convincing way.

00:33:32
Speaker 2: Yeah, it feels like it's going to be the lead story no matter what because it standalone game, even though the Raiders aren't good at all.

00:33:39
Speaker 7: Yeah, Paul, here's one.

00:33:40
Speaker 3: That would make it really big. The Cowboys have a terrible first half, I mean a terrible first half, and somehow the backup quarterback is brought in for Dallas is a Joe Milton, and.

00:33:51
Speaker 7: He leads a comeback victory.

00:33:53
Speaker 3: That would be saucy coverage wise.

00:33:57
Speaker 2: Or if Tom Brady, who's a already the owner of the Raiders, decided to suit up and then he played and led them to victory with that, that we would lead with that?

00:34:06
Speaker 7: Yes, right, yes, Dylan.

00:34:09
Speaker 4: The outside chance. Jerry Jones says something dumb after the game.

00:34:15
Speaker 7: When he does.

00:34:16
Speaker 4: Yeah, when he does in the morning or after the game.

00:34:18
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's real possibility.

00:34:28
Speaker 7: Three and a half point favorite Cowboys.

00:34:30
Speaker 4: I think I'm taking the Raiders with the points.

00:34:32
Speaker 7: Then I'm surprised you're not taking the money line.

00:34:35
Speaker 4: I probably will. We'll see when it gets closer to the game time. Yeah, it's time to crunch the numbers, you know.

00:34:39
Speaker 5: Yeah, all right, yes, Marvin, this game is in Vegas. Yeah, so it's a home game for the Cowboys. The Cowboys, right that in so far the two worst home field advantages in football, because no matter what, it's at least neutral sight game, it's not a home game.

00:35:00
Speaker 4: Yeah, especially playing like a Cowboys or Steelers or Packers Packers.

00:35:04
Speaker 3: Yeah yeah yeah, pull Cowboys at Arizona Cardinals feels like I often feels like a Cowboys.

00:35:10
Speaker 7: Oh yeah, yes, definitely. Uh.

00:35:14
Speaker 2: By the way, on this date in nineteen forty, the Packers were the first NFL team to travel by plane. They flew to New York to play the Giants from Green Bay. I guess you trained it before that, right or bus? Uh trip in Vegas? Hi trip?

00:35:35
Speaker 21: Hey, good morning man. My best and worst of the weekend. My best is I came out here. I'm standing here looking at your van the sea Seaton. That's my best. To inspect the dam is my worst. I'm the only person that came out here to inspect the van and see Seaton.

00:35:54
Speaker 2: I think the onslaught. The rush will be a little later on. Come out and see Seaton, you know, and do well with crowds, you know, big crowns there. So he wanted to keep it to a low roar. We can't walk down the street in Vegas, you know, the strip without being accostant.

00:36:11
Speaker 7: Uh Nolan? In San Antonio, Hi Nolan, what's on your mind today?

00:36:19
Speaker 16: And I got a worst, the worst and best. The worst is b why you basketball lost to Marvin's Yukon Huskies by two points in Boston? The best is see why you only lost by two points to the Yukon Husky?

00:36:32
Speaker 7: And uh, b why you got a star though?

00:36:40
Speaker 5: Oh yeah, he had a slow first half. Yeah, but then he was like, wait, I know who I am. It's trying to turn it on.

00:36:45
Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm going to be doing this next year in the NBA in the Boston Garden.

00:36:49
Speaker 7: Correct, Yeah, hey J's he's good.

00:36:53
Speaker 2: Yeah, did struggle first half, but then all of a sudden, it was like here he comes, uh Mark in Atlanta, Him Mark.

00:37:01
Speaker 17: Hey, Dan, thanks for taking my call first time, long time six three two twenty Dan moonlighted for ninety six Rock. Do you remember who the morning DJs were?

00:37:16
Speaker 2: I think Lorna was there, Chris Rude was there, and Jeff Mark and Jeff I think were.

00:37:26
Speaker 17: No Nick and jeff Man, Nick and Nick and Jeff. Hey, Hey, one more thing. I want your guys to google this band. If they're called Big Earl and the Sexual Biscuits, they will have two songs you will love. One is for Fritzi. The name of that song is get Out of the Left Lane, You Stupid sob. And the other song I think, Dan, you have a pon tune boat now yeah? The other one is called poon Tang on the pond tune.

00:37:56
Speaker 7: Alrighty, thank you, Mark, Hi up? Alrighty. Your pontoon results may vary.

00:38:07
Speaker 4: Does that count as yacht rock?

00:38:11
Speaker 7: Yes, Paul.

00:38:11
Speaker 3: I'm looking at the playlist for Big Earl and the Sexual Biscuits, and almost none of these songs you've spoken about on radio out of my watch.

00:38:20
Speaker 7: This day in sports history, Paul.

00:38:22
Speaker 3: I just have one for you. Got that packer. One that's wild that could travel by train.

00:38:25
Speaker 7: Before that y.

00:38:28
Speaker 3: Eighty two to the strike season, they decided to cut it down from sixteen games to nine games. Do the player strike. Nineteen ninety seven, Mario Lemieux was voted into the NHL Hall of Fame. Easy one There, Barry Bonds and three of the Giants became the first baseball player to receive six NLMVP awards.

00:38:46
Speaker 7: On this date.

00:38:46
Speaker 2: In nineteen fifty six, Jim Brown played at Syracuse. He had six touchdowns. He also kicked seven extra points. He had forty three points as Syracuse beat Colgate.

00:39:02
Speaker 7: Oh here's one I didn't not knowing.

00:39:04
Speaker 3: Yeah, you mentioned you're going to Colgate to play football. Ok, hey, this is fun. I could play at Colgate and all of a sudden, you gotta face Jim Brown.

00:39:12
Speaker 2: Nineteen seventy four, the first and only left handed player in the history of the LPGA won an event. Bonnie Bryant, I did not know that.

00:39:26
Speaker 12: Man.

00:39:27
Speaker 2: When you think about it, there aren't many left handed golfers on the LPGA tour in history. Let's see, how about Jay Kidd in two thousand, a quadruple double, eighteen, ten, ten, and fourteen turnovers. Ooh, I don't think you celebrate that one. I think we talked about the fourteen turnovers. It's kind of hard to do. Nineteen sixty eight, NBC cuts away from the final minutes of the Raiders Jets game to air Heidi the movie. The Raiders scored two touchdowns in the last minute to win forty three thirty two. You imagine if that happened now, and uh, we break away to bring you weekend at Bernie's.

00:40:18
Speaker 7: That's dang, dang three piece.

00:40:25
Speaker 2: Jason in California, Hi, Jason, what's on your mind?

00:40:29
Speaker 11: How you doing?

00:40:29
Speaker 12: Dan?

00:40:30
Speaker 16: First time?

00:40:31
Speaker 19: Long time?

00:40:31
Speaker 10: Five eight two thirty sockey damn patch? I mean Christian McCaffrey getting no love for MVP. You know, he wasn't there last year they won six games. He's there this year. Everybody else is gone. He's second in the league from scrimmage yards for scrimmage, So I just think a little bit of love. I know he's not gonna win an he's a running back, but if he wasn't there, that seems all right. Well.

00:40:57
Speaker 2: I picked him his Offensive Player of the Year to start the season, and you know he'll be up there for that honor. You're not going to win an MVP. Yeah, it's a quarterback award. Yeah, Pauline, he.

00:41:10
Speaker 3: Is on pace for over two thousand yards from scrimmage. He's also on pace to rush for one thousand yards and have one hundred plus catches. That's a tight category.

00:41:18
Speaker 7: Yeah.

00:41:19
Speaker 3: Is that Tomlinson did it?

00:41:21
Speaker 7: Or did Marshall Fulk do it?

00:41:23
Speaker 15: Yeah?

00:41:23
Speaker 7: Maybe?

00:41:24
Speaker 2: Yeah, Probably a pretty short list there, all right, Todd? What did I learn on today's award nominated program?

00:41:31
Speaker 14: You can't get a strong feel about how someone plays a QP position if you're just watching red zone highlights and not.

00:41:35
Speaker 6: A full game.
