You called TJ. He'll make them pay. 00:00:32 Speaker 1: Ryan Lemon. 00:00:33 Speaker 2: How about this crowd this morning here in Bowling Green. But how you and listen look at this? 00:00:39 Speaker 3: How about Bowling Green. I mean, it's been a long time since we've been here, and boy, they showed up waiting for us. We pull up in the parking lot. So thank you so much, everybody. This is awesome on. 00:00:48 Speaker 2: A Thursday, Thursday morning crowd on a Thursday. I was trying to think, when's the last time we've done a live show in Bowling Green. 00:00:55 Speaker 1: Have we done one since COVID It's been. 00:00:57 Speaker 3: Oh no, Cheney's Dairy Barn like I think yeah. 00:01:01 Speaker 4: I mean, I think it's cowls. 00:01:03 Speaker 2: I think it's probably been been that long at least since uh, since we've done it. 00:01:08 Speaker 3: Yeah, that was our last show and blome me with Cheney's Dairy Barn. We came to the Old Stone golf Course a couple of times, but that was like way back in our early days. 00:01:15 Speaker 1: Yeah. 00:01:15 Speaker 2: So well, it's great to see everybody in the home of the Hilltoppers this morning. This is the we are here because this is the grand opening of the new Draft Kings sports book here at the Mint. 00:01:27 Speaker 5: Uh. 00:01:27 Speaker 2: The mint is next to what's the ball? Is that Greenwood Mall? Is that the name of them all? 00:01:31 Speaker 1: Yeah? And uh, nice room in here. 00:01:34 Speaker 2: Got Drew got golf simulators over there, top golf swing suites they call them. They are going to UH at noon Eastern eleventh Central have the ceremonial first bet. I got booted from it. The mayor pro tem. I don't know what. I didn't even know there was a mayor pro tem, but I guess it's the vice mayor is going to give the first bet, so I'll give the second one. 00:01:56 Speaker 1: And I'm still trying to figure out what I'm gonna do. 00:01:57 Speaker 4: That's okay. 00:01:58 Speaker 6: I think you know, you mentioned you yesterday maybe dabbling a little bit with Kentucky and Louibelle. That feels like a good bet to make, So I think maybe that's the only one I really feel comfortable about it. 00:02:07 Speaker 2: I don't I don't necessarily feel feel comfortable picking Kentucky to win the National Championship. I don't necessarily feel comfortable picking them to even cover Saturday. Yeah, but I still think we're gonna beat Louisville no matter what. Yeah, I mean, like at the end of the day, it's still Louisville. We still own him. 00:02:25 Speaker 1: We'll beat this. Yeah. 00:02:26 Speaker 7: If you can't get a line on that yet, just take Ryan Lemon's punt bet that he loves doing so much. That'd be a fun ceremonial first bet here at the minute. 00:02:33 Speaker 2: Yeah, so you guys actually came down last night. You stayed at the Kentucky Downs, Ryan at the at the Mint there. 00:02:41 Speaker 1: How was that? It was awesome? 00:02:43 Speaker 3: I mean, they've got a Mint just twenty twenty five minutes down the road. That is incredible new hotel down there. But before we did that, Matt Billy drove us through Western's campus kind of nostalgic. He was so cute, like, hey, this is where I used to go to school. Hey, this is where I used to date this girl. Hey, this is where I used to live. 00:02:58 Speaker 2: Those are not the words you use with me. Well, when you were telling that, Shore, I cleaned it up. 00:03:03 Speaker 3: A little bit for you. But he was very cute, going a little tour through campus, his old stopping ground. And we went to Heliums, the big bar there last night, and hung out and so it was. 00:03:11 Speaker 1: It was in as awesome as he said it was. 00:03:13 Speaker 3: Well, you know, maybe Wednesday night's not the best night to go to. 00:03:16 Speaker 2: Hellions Helligans, right, Heilligans Hellions is not the same thing. 00:03:23 Speaker 6: From a thirty minute trip to like a two hour trip, though, I heard. So something must have been there waiting for you. 00:03:27 Speaker 4: Yeah. 00:03:28 Speaker 3: Well they're over here, kept buying us, you know, beverages. 00:03:31 Speaker 1: So it was nice of you there. Oh, I appreciate that. Well, we I'm glad to be here in Bowling Green. We've talked. 00:03:37 Speaker 2: Bowling Green's been on a topic of conversation a lot on the show. 00:03:40 Speaker 1: First of all, more restaurants. 00:03:42 Speaker 2: Per capita than any city in America, which Drew I think is a is a pretty amazing statistic for a place. What do you think, like seventy five thousand people live here or something like that when school's not in session, probably seventy five. Nobody seems to know how as well. Ask the mayor when she gets here. But you know, a lot of the restaurant choices are in Oh. 00:04:05 Speaker 7: I believe in this strip right here. It's like a tour with like a fast few food museum. There's one on top of each other. I certainly believe that this crowd here, I know we've been talking about Zimpi. I feel like we are the ex Zimpi clinic here with this crowd we have showing up today. 00:04:18 Speaker 1: I don't know what that means, this crowd. 00:04:20 Speaker 7: I mean, I feel like we're serving a zimp he here. There's so many bowling green. 00:04:24 Speaker 2: I was like, no, idea, what you're talking about there. I did see a sign for Ozimpic already when I came in here. Everywhere was like, yeah, right on, what is it Scottsville Road? 00:04:34 Speaker 1: Is that right? Yeah? 00:04:36 Speaker 3: Right? Really? 00:04:37 Speaker 1: Yeah? 00:04:37 Speaker 3: Like an advertisement. 00:04:38 Speaker 2: Now it's like one of those little things he planted in the ground like a political sign. But it was so we we are glad to be here at a massive crowd. We appreciate it. The Cats are going to be a twenty four point underdog Saturday against Georgia. So I decided Ryan, I decided, I was. I gave everybody that I know around UK football. 00:05:01 Speaker 1: A little space for the last few days, you know what I mean? 00:05:05 Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I just felt like, when you have a game like that, the only thing worse than being a part of it is probably having to talk about Yeah. 00:05:12 Speaker 1: Right. 00:05:12 Speaker 2: So I sort of gave everybody some space. And then last night had to drive from Lexington to Louisville, so called some folks and I just kind of said, what's the mood like around the facility? 00:05:23 Speaker 1: And I will tell you there's a handful of people. 00:05:25 Speaker 2: There's a handful of people I talked to around the football program that I know are gonna just give me the happy view, and then there's a handful that will give me, like the real view. And yesterday they pretty much all had the same mindset, which was, we don't really know what happened Saturday. 00:05:44 Speaker 1: It just kind of got away from us. 00:05:47 Speaker 2: And they all pointed to two or three plays where they felt like after they happened, it just kind of was a different vibe. It's the same one Shannon, we picked talked about. It was the decision to go for it on fourth down, but still it's ten to six after that. I think maybe the morale plays that maybe hurt the team that we didn't really talk a ton about was do you remember the two plays back to back where we strip sack them but then don't recover the fumble? 00:06:18 Speaker 4: Yep? 00:06:18 Speaker 1: Yeah, Like it was two straight plays. 00:06:21 Speaker 2: On first down we strip sack them, they don't, they fumble fumble, we don't get it. 00:06:26 Speaker 1: Second when we strip. 00:06:27 Speaker 2: Sack them and number forty two, whoever that is, it's like Ray to bounce in his hands and he had a run for a touchdown and we would have taken the lead. 00:06:36 Speaker 1: He misses it, they get it. 00:06:38 Speaker 2: And then on third and eighteen they complete a pass and two different people involved with the program yesterday told me the sideline changed at that moment that when they got that first down after the two they didn't, there was like a we should be leading and now they get a first down and they thought, like what was very disappointing to him is all of a sudden, just the air went out of it and I think Ryan, what was interesting to me is they sort of pride themselves in the last few years on like bouncing back, bouncing back, but that string of plays, somebody probably should go back and look at him defensively. First down, stripsack, don't get the ball, Second down, stripsack don't get the ball, and a guy misses a chance to run it back. Third play, third and eighteen conversion. Ryan, and talking the folks around the team, that was kind of when they felt like the team maybe just kind of gave up. 00:07:33 Speaker 3: That has to be with Dukes was talking about them when he said he was so unhappy that they didn't respond, They didn't punch back, and they seemed like, like you said, just didn't kind of lost the wind in their sales a little bit. That has to be the scenario because it was ten to. 00:07:44 Speaker 1: Six right there. 00:07:46 Speaker 2: It was ten to six, and again I'm not making excuse we lost thirty one to six through but it's ten to six and if they let's just say they run it back and we're up thirteen ten, we probably win the game. But what really was disappointing to this half is then on third and eighteen you can still stop them. Yeah, and they didn't, and then you end up they score I think the next play. 00:08:08 Speaker 7: Yeah, I understand. Those are all backbreaking plays. Even one of those fumbles, I feel like South Carolina recovered it and got positive yards. Yeah they did, I think, I think wild But a veteran team, you still have to bounce back from stuff like that, and it still doesn't explain how bad the offensive line and offense looked. I agree that those probably changed and sown on the sideline. Those were huge backbreakers. That doesn't answer every problem, and I think fans are concerned about moving forward there. 00:08:32 Speaker 6: There was a lot of frustrations that just built up and mounted on top of each other. I mean, I also go back to when they had the ball and they had was it two or three offensive holding calls? 00:08:41 Speaker 1: I mean at that point I thought the game was already over. 00:08:43 Speaker 6: But you're right, yeah, I mean, but that just, you know, just added to it to the frustration on Saturday. 00:08:47 Speaker 2: So I sort of asked him, Okay, what should I expect Saturday? You know, remember because last year we lost these guys fifty one to six, Like like, last year was not not a pretty game. That and then pony up was the what came up in the post game and we'll find out Saturday, right, But the belief was this group wants to go and show that Saturday wasn't real. And the expectation I heard was they actually expect to play really well. Now, nobody would tell me, even privately, right we're gonna win, although I think, you know, obviously they want to, they feel that way or hope to. But I do think I'm gonna go on record to say and I think we have a better performance and I think we cover Saturday. 00:09:32 Speaker 1: Now. 00:09:32 Speaker 2: I still think we probably lose by seventeen, but I actually think we will feel a little bit better about. 00:09:38 Speaker 1: The team Saturday than we do right now. 00:09:40 Speaker 3: I hope that's right. 00:09:41 Speaker 1: You know, Okay, you didn't say you hope. I hope. 00:09:46 Speaker 3: You know, really, before last year, Kentucky had really kind of closed the gap with Georgia. You remember the game we went down there with the eleven, We all went down there. That was a really competitive game into the third quarter. We've played them well at home. 00:09:57 Speaker 2: The last four against george at home have all been like ten to fourteen points, which again I'm not saying that's a moral victory, but that's been the best program in the country, and except for last year, we've actually played in pretty close Kirby Smart said before the game last year, you could make an argument this team has played US consistently better than anyone by Alabama. 00:10:21 Speaker 1: That didn't happen last year. 00:10:22 Speaker 3: Though, Yeah, take out last year's game. But before that, and I think a lot of these guys on this team still, you know, still had that mentality like, hey, Georgia is not like this dominant team that they used to be with US. 00:10:33 Speaker 7: I think the defense is gonna step it up because they've held a lot of these guys have got the experience. They've held Georgia to I think sixteen and fourteen points in lectionon. 00:10:41 Speaker 1: In the last two half. 00:10:42 Speaker 7: Yes, but offensively that line, I mean, the injury report came out yesterday. You've got Jaggers doubtful, there wasn't already much depth behind him. You have MENSI that I don't believe practice this week. I believe it said probable on him. But the line we're already worried about going against Georgia looks like they're gonna have some pieces that didn't expect to be playing this early in their careers. 00:11:01 Speaker 4: I was asking Drew this last night. 00:11:02 Speaker 6: I'll ask you this, Matt, what do you think the scenario is this game on Saturday where we're in the fourth quarter and it's a one score game, Like, is there any like what the scenario? 00:11:11 Speaker 1: Where's this scenario? 00:11:12 Speaker 2: I mean, I think to be in a one score game with Georgia, First of all, they're gonna have to have a game plan that gets the ball out of the quarterback's hand quick, because I don't think there's I'm giving up on the offensive line protecting against a team like Georgia. 00:11:29 Speaker 1: Now again, I was talking to. 00:11:31 Speaker 2: The stat and they said, look, South Carolina will be the second or third best defensive line we play all year. The only ones that are in competition are Georgia in Texas. So I don't expect it to be significantly worse than last game. But it can't even be close to last game or we get run off the field. So the scenario is they create a game game playing get the ball out of Brock's hands when he passes. I think you're gonna have to have a special teams or defensive touchdown. You're gonna have to have something like that. And then maybe you go in and it's twenty seventeen or seventeen fourteen in the fourth quarter, and that's to me, the only scenario drew where I could see it. We're not gonna win a shootout again, So like if you know, we've got to find a way for the defense to play well and us, we're. 00:12:18 Speaker 1: Gonna have to run the ball. 00:12:19 Speaker 2: We actually ran the ball decently well for a while in that game on Saturday. 00:12:23 Speaker 7: Yeah, Demmy was one of the bright spots even though the offense wasn't doing much. We don't have Chip back. 00:12:27 Speaker 1: He was listed. 00:12:28 Speaker 2: As the chips out and then the freshman Patterson, So we're down to two running backs all onas all gonna be on h Sumo, Demi Sumo, and the Wilcox kid. 00:12:39 Speaker 3: Yeah, I wonder if Whim said it may get a lot of more touches to have him on the field just because he's proving he can be a good runner. 00:12:44 Speaker 7: They're gonna have to do so there's gonna do something freshman trying to bulge Georgia, which that doesn't sound like a good recipe. To answer Shann's question about how it's close, Like I said, it was sixteen and fourteen points the last two times they were here. If the defense can just keep them out of the end zone, I think that's the only hope. That's a big ask. 00:12:59 Speaker 2: What's the crowd percentage gonna be Kentucky versus Georgia. I've seen a lot of tickets for sale. 00:13:05 Speaker 1: Let me ask you a question. 00:13:06 Speaker 2: How many of you all have season tickets or go to a lot of Kentucky football games? 00:13:11 Speaker 1: Raise your hand? All right? Six? Seven? How many of you are going this Saturday? Four? All right? So I don't know. I think there's gonna be a lot of Georgia fans there. I do, But you know. 00:13:26 Speaker 2: What, this point, they got to prove something to the fans. I think to get them back, because I really Saturday, I'll have a lot of people I worry about the next Saturday. That next Saturday when they play Ohio. 00:13:40 Speaker 4: I don't know, but I would just say to the fans. 00:13:42 Speaker 6: I've got friends who have season tickets and they're saying the same thing. I'm selling my tickets this week. 00:13:46 Speaker 1: Who you sell them to? 00:13:47 Speaker 2: By the way, for somebody, I'm sure, I like, I saw all these people on Facebook. I'll sell my season tickets for three hundred dollars. 00:13:52 Speaker 1: Who you thinks by it. 00:13:53 Speaker 6: But if you buy season tickets, don't you buy season tickets to see these teams come in. 00:13:58 Speaker 4: To Kroger Field? Wouldn't you want to be there just in case I would. 00:14:02 Speaker 1: Go to this game? 00:14:03 Speaker 4: Yeah? 00:14:03 Speaker 2: I think it's gonna be harder to convince people to go next week. A five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. We are here at the Mint and Bowling Green. Beautiful little, beautiful sports book for DraftKings. We'll take a break and be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. 00:14:18 Speaker 1: Welcome back. 00:14:19 Speaker 2: It is Kentucky Sports Radio here at the Mint Gaming Hall in Bowling Green. Couple up in lines eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. I'd like to know do you all have any confidence that the game Saturday will be better than the game we had last Saturday? But before we do that, we try to do this everywhere we go. We're in Bowling Green. Ryan is the man who knows where everybody's from, So without including Western Kentucky athletes WKU athletes, give me some famous athletes from Bowling. 00:14:51 Speaker 1: Green, Warren County, well Dale. 00:14:54 Speaker 3: And I will talk about this guy last night. Corey Hart baseball player played like thirteen years in the big leagues and made it, made the Hall Star Game a couple of times. He's probably the most recent superstar I think to come out of bowling. 00:15:04 Speaker 2: I s in Kentucky had a lot of football players that went to Warren County. 00:15:07 Speaker 3: Right, Jansen Dunn is on the team right now. He played down here in South Wall. I know there's more, right, Cisco Bryant, bowling green guy, the Dingles, the Dingles, Yeah, Adrian who Middleton, Yeah, a lot of. 00:15:23 Speaker 1: Kentucky Guess what about? Is there a basketball guy? What was the what was the kid from? 00:15:28 Speaker 7: George George? 00:15:30 Speaker 1: Oh, George Fans a great one. He played in the NFL for quite some time. 00:15:33 Speaker 3: Yeah, he's a bowling green guy. Yeahy, who's that? 00:15:36 Speaker 1: There was a basketball player that was really good from here? 00:15:40 Speaker 2: Rex Josh Carrier, Josh car I forgot about you too, didn't miss in practice. 00:15:46 Speaker 1: I'll tell you that. 00:15:47 Speaker 2: Well during the break, you can give us some more. Who you think is the most famous w k U athlete of all time? 00:15:53 Speaker 3: Probably Devon Key football player played for Denver Bronco. I'd say probably Devin Key. 00:15:58 Speaker 2: When they were good at basketball, who like in the seventies when they. 00:16:01 Speaker 1: Were really good. 00:16:02 Speaker 3: Jim McDaniels. 00:16:03 Speaker 1: Jim McDaniels. 00:16:04 Speaker 7: Yeah, don't you get Ty Rodgers with the big shot Ty Rodgers. 00:16:07 Speaker 1: Patrick Sparks was here. 00:16:09 Speaker 2: Actually, I had somebody tell me the last time they had been to Hilligan's. Uh, Patrick Sparks tripped them. That was the last imposed. 00:16:15 Speaker 4: He wasn't there last night. 00:16:17 Speaker 2: Oh wait a minute. The big dude that played with him, Chris Marcus, was a play that's a good pool. People forget how good he yes he was. He was like a preseason All America. 00:16:26 Speaker 1: Yeah. I think he got hurt maybe that year. 00:16:28 Speaker 7: So a lot of non athletes h Duncan Hines, the cash cab guy. 00:16:35 Speaker 4: Uh, the Carpenter dude, John Carpenter from Halloween. 00:16:38 Speaker 1: Yeah. 00:16:40 Speaker 4: Elephant yeah, the elephant another good one. 00:16:43 Speaker 2: Bowling Green a little bit Bowling Green, producing all all the celebrities. 00:16:48 Speaker 1: Uh if I'm not eight twenty two eighty seven. 00:16:50 Speaker 2: One person writes on the text machine, which is seven seven two seven four five two five four. 00:16:55 Speaker 1: Matt, My mom listens to you every day. 00:16:57 Speaker 2: We talk about it on the weekends, usually talk about what you've said. I appreciate you being away from me to interact with my mom. But I could tell she was mad at you yesterday because she called me in the middle of the week to say, did you hear Matt say that people can't work well remotely at home? 00:17:15 Speaker 1: It made my mom really mad. You should apologize to her. 00:17:21 Speaker 2: I apologize to your mom. It was interesting because I assumed the most hateful text messages I would get were for me saying that Harris won the debate. Nope, it was people saying about the remote work Shannon. 00:17:37 Speaker 1: You and I were on the same side on this, but there's a lot of. 00:17:41 Speaker 2: People that want to be able to work remotely and did not like you and I saying that they couldn't be as efficient working remote. 00:17:49 Speaker 6: Part of me is just being spiteful to the fact that I had to go in during COVID and work at the location. 00:17:56 Speaker 2: You had to do it when literally no one was going anywhere. 00:18:00 Speaker 6: Yeah, everybody else got to stay home. I had to get up and go to work every day. So I'm like, come on, I think everybody should have to go to work like me. So yeah, that you're right. 00:18:08 Speaker 1: Though people have strong opinions about that, you. 00:18:10 Speaker 4: Did hit a nerve on that way. It hit a nerve, and. 00:18:12 Speaker 2: It seems like oddly the nerve is with younger people. Yeah, it feels like to me, I think a lot of older folks are like probably like I was, well, we have to go in. 00:18:22 Speaker 1: But but the younger people were the ones who. 00:18:25 Speaker 2: Now I can see why companies have a hard time telling them to go back to work, Drew, because if if if boss has got anything like I got yesterday, people get people got angry about it, which is which was really opening to me. 00:18:40 Speaker 7: You don't want you messing that up. People like to pop in at work from the beach or the brewery or wherever they want to just work remotely, wherever they want to be. They say, working from home. But the best part is just being wherever you want to be to work. 00:18:50 Speaker 4: That's true. 00:18:51 Speaker 6: Yeah, you don't have to you're not wet it too having to go in. You can just work from bed if you want to. You don't have to get out of bed. 00:18:56 Speaker 1: So I I you know, I am sorry to your mom. 00:18:59 Speaker 2: I will say, right, it doesn't truly change my opinion, although I will note it's probably worth noting that there's a caveat that. I'm sure there are people who can work just as officially or maybe even better. I'm but on average, I'll keep my opinion, but I will also note maybe I won't bring it up again for a while, to give everybody a chance to calm down. 00:19:17 Speaker 3: So where do you think? Where are we in ten years from now to more? Are more people working from home? Or are they going away from that? In ten years the robots are working from home? 00:19:24 Speaker 1: I think the way company. 00:19:26 Speaker 2: I think people who got used to it during COVID are going to be allowed to do it a lot. But I think what you're going to see, and what I've read is that companies with new hires are saying you got to come in so that they set the expectation of coming in and then you. 00:19:40 Speaker 1: Know, for the so that they don't have this issue. 00:19:42 Speaker 2: But there are companies who like it because they don't have to pay for so much office space right so like they don't have to rent as much office space now because people are working from home. 00:19:52 Speaker 3: What happened? All those office spaces in like the Big City are. 00:19:54 Speaker 2: Empty or in New York a lot of them being turned into apartments. 00:19:58 Speaker 1: A lot of the office space faces. 00:20:00 Speaker 2: Are being renovated and turned into like large apartment. 00:20:03 Speaker 1: But a lot of them are empty. 00:20:04 Speaker 6: I mean, you look at iHeart. I mean even we downsized buildings. We were in that huge building in Louisville, Matt, and now we're in, you know, a smaller building. 00:20:11 Speaker 2: I started, we were in a massive building out there next to the milk plant in Louisville, and now we're in a very small space at at Fourth Street. 00:20:20 Speaker 1: So things changed a lot. Who's next, Eric, Eric? Go ahead, Eric, Hey, guys, just a couple. 00:20:30 Speaker 2: It is amazing how it is amazing how the moment they get on shin and the phone stopped working. 00:20:35 Speaker 1: But go ahead, yeah, let me. Were you on bluetooth? 00:20:45 Speaker 8: I was, okay, do not call on bluetooth. 00:20:51 Speaker 2: I'm going to post that with Mario on all the graphics he does for the show. 00:20:56 Speaker 1: Do not call him bluetooth. But go ahead, gotcha? Okay. 00:20:59 Speaker 8: So yesterday, as we're talking about some national events that really stick with people, and we just thought it was funny because it was probably around the. 00:21:06 Speaker 7: Same age as you. 00:21:07 Speaker 8: The Challenger was number one for her and she always talks about it even still to this day, which we kind of tease her about. 00:21:14 Speaker 7: So it's just kind of interesting because. 00:21:15 Speaker 1: We were all home from school. That's another thing. 00:21:18 Speaker 2: We were all home from school and if you were in Kentucky, there was snow that day you all may remember. So we were all home from school and we were watching it, and I remember Larry said to me, do not watch soap operas while we're gone, not that I was going to, I think you could. And then all of a sudden I had to watch people explode, and I think that was probably worse than the soap operas. 00:21:38 Speaker 1: We'll go ahead, yeah, yeah. 00:21:40 Speaker 8: So and then and then on the football team, I think now that Nils kind of settled in a little bit, I think they really need to make a huge effort to build the offense from the inside out and really go after that offensive line, because we've seen in the past, if they have a really good offensive line, we don't even need a quarterback. 00:21:59 Speaker 1: So I think if they. 00:22:01 Speaker 8: Concentrate a little bit more on that, and maybe they are and they're just not getting the players they're trying to get, whether it's Mark, students or somebody else, I just really think it'll be who You're not the only. 00:22:12 Speaker 1: One that thinks that You're not the only one. 00:22:14 Speaker 2: I mean, there are people who think I just think somebody called maybe on the post game show that we spent too much money on skilled players and not enough money on offensive line. We'll see what they do in the future. We'll take a break and be right back here at the Mint in Bowling Green. 00:22:26 Speaker 1: This is KSR. Welcome back. 00:22:29 Speaker 2: It is Kentucky Sports Radio. 00:22:33 Speaker 4: Rick. 00:22:34 Speaker 1: You're playing the long instrumental version of this intro. This is a little bon Jovi. 00:22:40 Speaker 2: Well, first of all, let it play in the background for actually, we don't do it because then they can't put on the podcast. 00:22:44 Speaker 1: You can go ahead and stop it. This is bon Jovi. 00:22:47 Speaker 2: Two things before I get to bon joby number one, the Bowling Green Fire Department came and gave us patches some big shout out to the Bolie. 00:22:56 Speaker 3: Yes, absolutely, thank you very much for that. 00:22:59 Speaker 2: We are here at the DraftKings New DraftKings Sports book at the Mint in Bowling Green. Did you hear the story Ryan about John bon Jovi what he did yesterday? 00:23:10 Speaker 3: No, I don't know this. 00:23:11 Speaker 2: Bon Jovi was filming a music video in Nashville, right off Broadway. They were filming it and he I guess there was a woman that was on the bridge there thinking about like taking her life. She was like about to jump off the bridge. Somebody tells bon Jovi and bon Jovi walks to the bridge and. 00:23:33 Speaker 1: Talks her off the bridge. Awesome and saves her life. 00:23:36 Speaker 3: Yes, absolutely, Wow. 00:23:39 Speaker 1: What you have to say. She probably didn't see that coming. 00:23:42 Speaker 2: She probably did not think bon Jovi was gonna show up, but he apparently did it. There's and like he didn't make a deal about it. This happened like two days ago, and there was surveillance video that the police released yesterday just to say, hey, we want to give him credit for this. He is the he he did this and he did it on his own, and that's kind of neat. 00:24:04 Speaker 6: Kenabagina being in that situation and you look over Bono, is that you. 00:24:09 Speaker 2: Would you would think it was like a sign from God, Like if you just God. 00:24:14 Speaker 4: If you don't want me to job, bring bon joby right now. 00:24:17 Speaker 3: He walked around the up Yeah, what if Lord send me a sign? 00:24:24 Speaker 2: And then here here comes bon job Like then at that point you go, you know what, so a very cool gesture. And I think it's even more cool that he didn't say anything about it. That Like it was the Nashville police that put it out I think Drew that makes it even more impressed. 00:24:39 Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean she was standing on the other side of the rail, very close to you know, making that move, and for him to be there. I'm gig still giggling at the thought of sending a sign like you look there in the lead singer of you two or something. 00:24:51 Speaker 4: Such a random story. 00:24:52 Speaker 2: He had to be careful not to go sing and be like you're halfway there. 00:24:56 Speaker 1: You have to like you're to think of a different song. Shit. See, you can make a joke just because she survived, so it's good and uh and so anyway, I thought that was actually very cool. 00:25:06 Speaker 2: Some more athletes we didn't mention Damian Fishback. 00:25:10 Speaker 3: Yes, mister basketball, Lonel Dwalt, Oh, that's a good one. 00:25:14 Speaker 1: Jan L. 00:25:15 Speaker 2: Du Walt, who could jump and block. We're gonna mention Western Kentucky sports. You can't go without mentioning another Kentucky And Clem Haskins Taylor County legendary. 00:25:27 Speaker 1: Did he play here too? I know he coached here. He played and coached. 00:25:30 Speaker 3: Here, so you got to mention him and his daughter, Clymett Haskins. At the time, it is one of the best female players to ever played the game. Her name is Clement, Yeah, clemt'st I like that a guy a daughter, Matt at Madet Courtney Lee played in the NBA for a long time. He's a Western Kentucky hill topper, clem at clym Att Haskins. 00:25:50 Speaker 2: One person writes, Matt, if we were to beat Georgia, is it the biggest upset in UK football history? 00:25:57 Speaker 1: And if not, what he is? 00:25:59 Speaker 2: And then what that's our biggest UK basketball upset in history? 00:26:03 Speaker 1: Where we did it? 00:26:06 Speaker 2: So the football one is probably LSU, but I would argue because they ended up winning the national championship that year, So right? 00:26:15 Speaker 1: Am I right about that? 00:26:16 Speaker 3: I think? 00:26:16 Speaker 2: So that is that's our biggest would the Georgia one drew if we did it Saturday be even bigger? That Kentucky team was at least good. I mean that Kentucky team you know we beat. We beat Louisville a couple of weeks before that. We played Florida the next week, had game Day, the only time we've ever had game Day. 00:26:35 Speaker 1: I think this would be a bigger upset than that if we won. 00:26:40 Speaker 7: Part of it is this team is supposed to be better than they were a week ago, so if you ask me before the South Carolina game, I wouldn't say, no, it's not a bigger upset at all. But they were so bad against South Carolina it's having a hard time figuring out what Kentucky is. If they're as close to as bad as they were last Saturday, then yeah, I think it would be a bigger upset. 00:26:56 Speaker 2: They've only lost to one team in four years. Shitnon, yeah, it's Alabama. Forty forty one straight radio games in the last four seasons. They've only lost Allen's and only team that's beat them in four seasons, and they beat them twice. 00:27:10 Speaker 1: I would argue, Shannon, this would be bigger. 00:27:13 Speaker 4: Yeah, you did based on what we saw last week. 00:27:15 Speaker 6: And if Georgia were to go ahead and end up winning the national championship, I think that would be the biggest win in So, Ryan, what. 00:27:21 Speaker 2: Is our biggest upset basketball win where we were the ones doing the upset? I have an answer, but I want to hear what you think. 00:27:30 Speaker 3: I need to think about it a little bit. 00:27:31 Speaker 1: I can't. 00:27:31 Speaker 3: I couldn't come up with one immediately. 00:27:33 Speaker 2: I'm gonna say, and this is before my time. So some of you older folks are gonna have to let me know if you agree. I'm gonna say Indiana, Yeah, in seventy six, seventy five, seventy five, because they were undefeated, right and we and then they went. 00:27:48 Speaker 3: Undefeated in seventy six next year. 00:27:51 Speaker 1: Yep. 00:27:51 Speaker 2: So I mean that's a good answer to back undefeated years if we didn't beat them. 00:27:57 Speaker 3: Do you like that answer that that may be the right answer. That's a good that's a good. 00:28:01 Speaker 1: Call right there. 00:28:02 Speaker 2: Another one, you know, I can't think drew of a whole lot of other ones. Like in the tournament, if we had beaten Duke in ninety two, I think that would have been number one, even though we were the two seed and they were the one seed, but they were the defending national champions. 00:28:18 Speaker 1: But we didn't win. 00:28:20 Speaker 6: Kentucky's been other team's biggest win of their history. 00:28:25 Speaker 4: Kentucky did us as an upset. 00:28:27 Speaker 3: Let's take how about when they beat Shaq and Stanley Jackson that Stanley Robert, that's yeah. 00:28:33 Speaker 1: Your season game. That's a really good one. 00:28:35 Speaker 2: Beating them basically all the wins they got that year in nineteen what ninety or I think it is you got one. 00:28:43 Speaker 7: There. The favorites in ninety nine percent of their games. I don't remember this, but like, what kind of underdog were they in ninety eight against Duke. I know they were down a lot in the game, But if you're for the. 00:28:53 Speaker 2: Game, if you're talking about the biggest win we've had from a seeding perspective, I can tell you our biggest win from a seating perspectives. 00:29:02 Speaker 1: Anybody woul not think? Can anybody think of it? Wichita State? 00:29:06 Speaker 2: When we were an eight and we beat Wichita State they were a one. 00:29:11 Speaker 1: We're almost never an eight or lower, so that would have been. 00:29:15 Speaker 2: But like, it doesn't feel like it's Shannon because it's Wichita Stayah versus Kentucky. 00:29:20 Speaker 6: Kentucky's that brand name, and you almost expected, you know, regardless of what the seating is, that you're going to beat Wichita State. 00:29:26 Speaker 4: That's probably the one. 00:29:27 Speaker 2: Well, when you're talking seating, our biggest win probably was Wichita State in two thousand and what fourteen was probably. 00:29:35 Speaker 7: From a point sped spread perspective when they won in Knoxville, would just C. J. Frederck few years ago there like a thirteen point underdog. Kentucky's very rarely a thirteen point under dog. 00:29:43 Speaker 2: Another One of those is when, like when we beat Knox one in Knoxville, what was it the COVID year and we only won like nine games, but yet we won in Knoxville against the good Tennessee team. 00:29:54 Speaker 1: That might have been one two. Who's up next? Trevor is up next? Trevor? Go ahead, Trevor. 00:30:01 Speaker 6: How are you doing? 00:30:02 Speaker 1: Matt good? Go ahead? 00:30:07 Speaker 5: I have season tickets. I want to be there Saturday, mainly because I spent money on them and I have nothing better to do. 00:30:14 Speaker 2: But I have to tell you, I don't think that's a bad reason. Like what else are you gonna do Saturday? You know, the number one team in the country is coming to town, Like, why wouldn't you go? 00:30:27 Speaker 1: I'm kind of with you. 00:30:30 Speaker 5: It's like buying a lawnmower and then having a company mow your yard. 00:30:33 Speaker 1: What's the point. 00:30:36 Speaker 2: That's interesting? I like going to the game is mowing the yard. 00:30:40 Speaker 5: But that's all right, well for some people that view it as a as a chore now because we're not good, so some people will probably think about it that way. 00:30:49 Speaker 1: Yeah, you might want to shut that door there or whatever, but go ahead. 00:30:53 Speaker 5: It would be the most mark stoops things in the world, if we cover the spread, we walked the game loss, then we're gonna play Georgia close and cover the spread. 00:31:07 Speaker 2: And here's what the look, here's what the Mark Stoops thing to do, and I appreciate the call. The Mark Stoops thing to do would be Shannon for this game to be a one score game for ten minutes to go and have everybody go, well, wait. 00:31:20 Speaker 1: A minute, why did we lose last week? 00:31:22 Speaker 2: Like that would be Stoops has had a lot of these games in his career where you give up and then all of a sudden they. 00:31:28 Speaker 1: Reel you back in a little bit. I do think there might be. 00:31:32 Speaker 6: They've played Georgia as close as anybody in the SEC throughout the you know, the last few years. So I think that there's a good chance that that's going to happen. And why would fans be upset about that? That's gonna make you feel better? I think moving forward, what's more likely to you? 00:31:45 Speaker 2: Ryan ten point win for Georgia or thirty five point win for Georgia. 00:31:52 Speaker 3: I'm like you, guys. As a matter of fact, I had a friend who said, I feel like betting Kentucky to cover a lot more confident than Kentucky not to cover last week against South Carolina. So I think if you're giving me one of those two scenarios, I think Kentucky keeps it closer and probably does cover this price. 00:32:06 Speaker 4: We're talking ourselves into this. We do this every week. Yep, Monday or Psy. 00:32:11 Speaker 7: We're gonna beat them tomorrow. A country boy, I'm definitely picking. 00:32:14 Speaker 4: Us to be Georgia tomorrow. 00:32:15 Speaker 7: Not yet, there is something to be said. I feel like anytime you write Stoops off for his teams off, that's when they respawn in they lost to Southern Miss lost the next week. I think, oh and two, they go on to win eight games. Last year, we were losing a little faith going in that Louisville game, where they do they go to Louisville smack le bull in the mouth. Yeah, it's almost like when you're telling them they're out, that's kind of when they surprise you. When you're building them up talking how good they are, that's when they let you down. 00:32:38 Speaker 2: That's I think that's a very very good point. Here's my prediction. I I'm gonna pick them to cover tomorrow, but I don't. I'm not confident on it. But I think the game where they're gonna surprise people's I think we're gonna go down there and come real close to beat No, miss, I really do. That's the game where I think that everybody will have written them off at that point. 00:33:00 Speaker 1: Yeah. No, And that'll be the game where you'll go, wait a minute, do we have the ball with. 00:33:05 Speaker 2: A chance to win this game. I'm like, that'll be the one to me that I think where they'll surprise me. 00:33:10 Speaker 1: I don't know. I just think George is so good. I think Saturday's gonna be. 00:33:13 Speaker 6: But they got to keep it close for a reason that you hit on the next week. If they get completely blown out on Saturday, the Ohio attendance for that game is gonna be our. 00:33:21 Speaker 1: Parally, it's Parents Weekend, so that probably will help. 00:33:24 Speaker 2: That helps If you look historically, Parents Weekend is actually a pretty well attended game, so maybe that maybe that'll help. UK Federal Credit Unions the official credit union University of Kentucky, serving the UK community since nineteen thirty seven. 00:33:38 Speaker 1: Bob, this is your radio show. This is our radio show, stopped talking. 00:33:42 Speaker 2: UK Federal Credit Union is the Forbes Best in State credit union and a three peat winner of Harold Leaders best in Lex Award. It is UK Federal Credit Union Banking only better. We'll take a break and be right back here in Bowie Green. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. 00:33:58 Speaker 1: Quarterback. It is huge sports radio. 00:34:01 Speaker 2: Here at the men in Bowling Green, right next to Greenwood Mom Draft Kings sports Book. 00:34:05 Speaker 1: They also have top golf swing suites. 00:34:08 Speaker 2: I'll tell you if I was living in Bowling Green, I would be standing over there a lot of the time. I bet that place is going to be very crowded. They have the sports lounge. Look at all these televisions watch a game. Very cool for the city of Bowling Green. A couple more people from Bully Green. Ryan Chief Justice, former of the Supreme Kentucky Supreme Court. John Minton is from Bowling Green. 00:34:29 Speaker 1: He swore me in. I think did it to be a lawyer many many years yo. Yeah. 00:34:34 Speaker 2: And then Ran Paul, the guy that tackled Ran Paul. Yeah, they're both from here. You're in Bully Green. People fight about mulch, now, Drew, you don't want to get your mulch on people's yard here Bowling Green. 00:34:48 Speaker 7: I didn't look at anyone jars when I drove in, didn't look any direction I'm not getting in a fight. 00:34:54 Speaker 1: Even when you walked in, you were like, oh no, no, part of the completely straight ahead. 00:34:59 Speaker 2: I was wrong about the uh biggest gap, Bob, I was wrong about the biggest gap in seeded wins. 00:35:08 Speaker 1: I bet you didn't know this, Okay. 00:35:10 Speaker 2: In nineteen eighty six, we were the twelve seed in the NCAA tournament and beat a four seeded Washington. 00:35:19 Speaker 3: Wow. I never don't even remember that game. 00:35:22 Speaker 1: Remember that game? I don't know. 00:35:25 Speaker 3: I don't remember that game at all. 00:35:26 Speaker 1: She remembers it. 00:35:27 Speaker 2: There you go, that's our That is our last gap in seed win drew of all time for UK beast. 00:35:33 Speaker 1: Memory of that. 00:35:33 Speaker 7: But if the text machine says it, we'll trust it. 00:35:36 Speaker 3: I remember who in Kentucky beat before they beat Wichita State in that first round. 00:35:39 Speaker 1: Game, Kansas State, Kansas. 00:35:42 Speaker 2: We didn't go because we did, and then we went to the Wichita State game and were there. 00:35:47 Speaker 1: When when we won. 00:35:49 Speaker 3: I remember you called. 00:35:52 Speaker 1: Undefeated. 00:35:53 Speaker 3: You called all of us like, man, I feel like we gotta go just in case they win. We need to get up our credentials for the next round. 00:36:00 Speaker 2: Do you remember the names of the Wichita State players? Baker, Baker Baker van Fleet and then cle Anthony Early was actually their best player and he's the one that didn't even make the NBA, which is kind of was that Greg Marshall. 00:36:18 Speaker 4: You remember him? 00:36:18 Speaker 7: Good family that has Uh. 00:36:21 Speaker 2: Did you see Shannon the story about your fellow namesake Shannon Sharp? 00:36:25 Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, he had quite a day yesterday. I didn't know who were going to talk. 00:36:29 Speaker 1: About this or not, but we're gonna talk about it. 00:36:31 Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, be careful when you go on. 00:36:33 Speaker 2: So Shannon Sharp, apparently, according to him, had his phone, decided to throw it on the bed, and then throwing it on the bed accidentally activated Instagram Live. And then he proceeded early in the morning to have a loving time with a wonderful young woman. 00:36:58 Speaker 1: I don't we don't know who it was. And it was all streamed on Instagram Live. 00:37:04 Speaker 4: It's very primal. 00:37:07 Speaker 1: I did not. I did not watch it, I guess Shannon apparently I did. 00:37:10 Speaker 4: I listened. 00:37:13 Speaker 3: We listened to the audio driving. 00:37:17 Speaker 2: I did too, driving down that it's not a podcast, hang on, just saying I didn't know that. 00:37:26 Speaker 1: Wait a minute, you won't listen to the audio drive like he was like, did you buy the book? 00:37:33 Speaker 6: No? But the curiosity got the best of me, and I see three videos, each of which are like two minutes long. So for six minutes of my drive down here, I was listening to Shannon Sharp do his business. 00:37:44 Speaker 3: I felt like we needed to do some research and some show prep. You get ready for this conversation. 00:37:48 Speaker 2: Actually, I think all of you seem to more are more prepared about this story than I am. 00:37:53 Speaker 1: Now I know how to get you all to actually prepare for the show. 00:37:56 Speaker 6: Did you hear his statement after the fact though, Yeah, he was not apologetic if it was awkward and like, yeah, it was weird, it was too much infort like an event happened. 00:38:06 Speaker 4: Yeah, no one was harmed in the event. 00:38:09 Speaker 7: He said, I'm an athletic mail so anyway you know it, it doesn't happen. How do you accidentally go live? Would you want several buttons you want to push through? 00:38:21 Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's the thing. It doesn't he says. He claims he just threw his phone on the bed and it turned on. Drew, I don't believe that. Do you believe that he threw something on the bed it turned on? 00:38:33 Speaker 1: But the phone? 00:38:33 Speaker 7: You need several buttons to actually get to live. It's like, are you sure, what's the title? 00:38:39 Speaker 1: Publish? 00:38:40 Speaker 2: I don't know how you can accidentally. I will say I've tried to go Instagram live and it's hard. Sometimes I can't even get it to work. I have to call Mario and say, how do I turn this thing on? This terrifies me, though. Now, if it's that easy for it to come on on accident, I don't think it's that easy. We've had Instagram for a long time. This is the first time I've heard of this had. 00:38:57 Speaker 4: Okay, but let's just say he did it on purpose, Like, what's what's the endgame here? 00:39:01 Speaker 2: Well, I mean we're talking about him. I guess that's okay, And he gave you a podcast. 00:39:07 Speaker 7: You find yourself in that situation, you're gonna call Mario to. 00:39:09 Speaker 1: Come home, not in that exact situation. Okay, who's up next? Shut up? 00:39:14 Speaker 3: Chester? 00:39:15 Speaker 1: Is up Chester? 00:39:16 Speaker 5: Oh? Wow? 00:39:17 Speaker 1: Yes? 00:39:19 Speaker 3: Up Chester? 00:39:24 Speaker 9: Hey, Matt, you guys were talking, yes, sir, can you hear me? 00:39:28 Speaker 1: Yes, go for it. 00:39:30 Speaker 9: Yes, you all were talking into the earlier in the show about working from home. Well, a lot of people don't know about. 00:39:37 Speaker 5: Jobs that you can work from home. 00:39:39 Speaker 9: Okay, there's a lot of jobs. 00:39:40 Speaker 1: That ain't possible. 00:39:41 Speaker 9: And let me tell you a job that isn't possible to work from home. That's the support the Kentucky football team. Now you we're talking about this censit. People are talking about selling their tickets. I'm telling let me tell you who knows that you can't support a team from sitting on the couch like you can't say it. That's the Georgia fans. And there's the ones to buying them up. 00:40:01 Speaker 1: Matt. 00:40:02 Speaker 9: There's the ones to buy them up. So here's the deal. If you put your tickets out there, they're the ones getting them. This is the best time of the year, Matt. We go to the games. We tail game, we get our TVs and generators, we get our food, we get our friends. We enjoy this time. We have hope and excited about the program. And I do not want I just want to encourage every big blue plan. If you've got tickets, do not let one fluke game. And that's what it was you talked about as the pendent. That ball bout a couple of different ways. We got a different game. Do not let one fluke game rob you of the joy of supporting this team. The truth is, Matt, we don't know what kind of team we got right now. Okay, them coaches over there, they are excellent coaches. They are top of the nation. They're gonna get these boys squared away. I'm not saying we can win. I was disgusted with the performance. I'm not saying that we can't. We're going to win, but I am not. I'm also gonna not say that it's an impossibility. I mean, South Carolina feed up have to beat nuts. The ball bounces a couple of ways, plus he does. But regardless, we improve, we go in next week, we take care of Benness, we improve, and then we go down there and that is the game, Matt you mentioned earlier, and I was calling this thing about that Old Miss game. 00:41:14 Speaker 1: That we go down there and win that. 00:41:16 Speaker 9: Then listen, we're gonna forget about the South Carolina game. We're gonna be talking about how these boys got their act together and how they bounce back. And that's another thing, Listen, you want to talk about here. 00:41:28 Speaker 2: We'll come back and I'm sorry, Chester, give him around of the applause. They're cutting me off. We'll be back out of the two. Chester getting them pumped up like KSR
