Welcome to the Nontendo podcast. My name is wood Well, live in Boston,
baby, and this week's co host is and dude. Hello, Hello,
Hello, let's go. You were just saying how nice this is.
Look it was a nice dringle. Yeah it is. We brought the whole
I say we, E brought the whole set up here to Boston. He
brought all his equipment. We have the cameras, we have the studio.
Is it all out of pocket? Yeah? I paid for all this.
What doesn't pay me to be here? Let's excuse me? Excuse me?
Can't write off stuff on your taxes if you're not getting paid. Happy taxis
and everybody. God we are live in Boston because we're here at Packs Packs
eight Expo twenty twenty four cold. It is freezing. It's thirty nine degree
out. I opened the door to exit the hotel and the wind blew in
and almost blew it. Actually took my breath away. Literally, I like
breathed it, and I was I couldn't breathe for a second. It's crazy
how cold it is. But thanks for coming in, fle You flew the
way here just for the podcast, just for the I mean, honestly,
yeah, I'm a little overpacks. We'll talk about it. Oh really,
well, well yeah, we'll talk about it. Well, we have a
lot to talk about today because we have we have a lot of things to
address. We have a lot of leaks to address. Uh, the PlayStation
Pro League. I want to talk about that. Yeah, you give me
a list of topics, and I'm like, I hate all of these things.
I know. Well, that's why I didn't really know what to even
title or cool this episode this week because down for a chat, there's like
a mix of things. We're kind of just hanging out at packs. I've
got a dude who likes ants? Do you like ants? How do you
feel about ants? So they there's a new game coming out, what was
it called Empire Events. It's like an ant themed RTS that's coming out,
and like, gro a game for me. Let's go. If you played
Grounded, you watch Bugs Life? What's the deal? I love Bugs Life?
Yeah, my name is Anthony. That's all it was. And then
it come to find out that not many people use ant as a nickname for
Anthony. That was weird for me. People say Tony, I don't look
like a Tony. Come on, I don't I don't give Tony. I'm
watching Sopranos and Tony is a whole different thing for me. Now, yeah,
I knew some Tony's in Brooklyn. I'm not a Tony. I was
gonna say, if you, if you stayed in Brooklyn, maybe maybe it
would come out anie the game that was not an Italian accident. Well,
I don't want to be. My ancestors would be furious. Uh, we
have some other things to talk about. Uh, some of game Fest is
coming up. I bought something that a lot of people consider illegal. You
did. I have some thoughts on that, and uh, I don't know.
That's pretty much it. So you said Sturdoo Valley in that too.
You can drink mayonnaise now you want? Yeah, if if we can talk
about you can drink mayonnaise. That's like the only thing I know about.
There's like another farm and you can drink mayonnaise. Yestado has this like insane
massive patch coming out, which is cool. But where's that chocolate Haunted Haunted
Tear game? Yeah? What is it? Haunted Chocolate Tear? Yeah,
that's the one. I don't know what I was trying to say. There
was a Stardoo concert that was going on an orchestra. Okay, that's not
that though. No, you went to that, okay? Yeah, and
concerned ape was there the story new fans are rabid. I want to go
to a a Zelda concert. Are they still? I don't know if they're
doing them anymore. They stopped for a while. Yeah, and and oh
and I don't apologize. Yeah, what is this apology you're hyping up?
I'm excited, good old I get to watch a front receipt to a YouTuber
apology. Oh, I've given I didn't want to make this video. I've
given a few of them. Let me it's not a it's not a joke
actually, but let me. Let me do it anyway. I've made a
severe lack in judgment. How did he say it? Laps and judgment,
Beer and continuous laps and judgment. The best of the YouTube apology of all
time. No. Last week, I I incorrectly when Spawn was here,
incorrectly looked at the size of his arm and said that you look bigger than
the wrestler that we had on. And the wrestler we had on. His
name is Kip and he's one of my closest friends, and he wanted me
to let everybody know that he is indeed much bigger than spawn Wave. And
I was only kidding. I was only I thought it was kind of obvious
that I was only getting But I was only joking. I was just trying
to gass up Spawn But I doesn't need it. No, it's true.
I've seen his ads. Great guy, where's the camera, where's the main
camera? Oh no, your camera, your camera's here, great love spawn
Wave. He's too big. I don't get it when he posts photos of
himself like shirtless at the gym, sweating and like it gonna be to too
many games. It's unnecessary. I mean, I'm trying to get them,
trying to catch up to him, but Ki kIPS out of the realm of
possibility almost because he's a wrestler, he's supposed to be big. Yeah,
anyway, I was just kidding, and I apologize sincerely to my dear friend
Kip uh Okay Packs, Penny or kid you did you book it? Because
when you sign up for packs and you get the media badge like we did,
you get ass blasted with emails. Oh it's it's insane. It's so
many, Like hundreds of emails come in with indie games and devs and publishers
that want you to come play that games, check out that booth, and
you have to schedule interviews. Have you seen anything cool that you're gonna check
out while you're here? So I'm only here for the indie games, but
man, like I care about the indie games that for some reason never get
emails sent out. Anton Blast is going to be here, that's cool.
I don't think I got an email for that. Athenian Rhapsody, fro gun
Encore at the top had booth, I don't think I got an email for
that. But I got these emails for like, oh, we got Zombie
Slayer eight and you want to come play it, and like, no disrespect
to indie devs, but when we get fifty to one hundred emails about scheduling
our stuff, yeah, not a chance I'm gonna be able to get to
all of them. Now. I picked a few that I really wanted to
do. One that I really want I really want to do, but I
don't know what's happening with it. Is Sudu fifty one, you know him?
Fifty Yes, is Shadows of the Damned here, Yeah, Shadows of
the Damn Remasters. Hey, but not only that he is here. Oh
that's cool, and I booked an interview with him. Oh, I'm gonna
go meet him. And he's one of my favorite developers of all time.
He's made Lollipop Chainsaw, Shadows of the Damn Normal Heroes. But I got
an email last night that said he might be sick. We're not sure if
he's coming, but you can come still play the game. So I don't
know what's happening with that. I hope I get to meet it. He's
one of the most energetic. I've met him once and he's so energetic that
they just he comes off as a guy who would make no more heroes.
Yeah, I was excited. I wanted to practice my Japanese. I think
I met him like twenty everyone's Bubb's met him. Yeah, everyone's Bob and
I met him. I met him him, and then I met him before
when they were showing off. I forget where they were showing off, but
he Yeah, he was super nice and bubbly, like he Bob was like,
Yeah, I met him. I didn't know what to say, so
I left. That's Bob. Yeah, that's just he doesn't it. I
hadn't played any of his games. Bub doesn't play games. When you're a
YouTube you don't have to play games. That's fake it till you make download
footage. Just play every Kirby. It's pretty good. It's gotten me places.
Speaking of which, Yeah, let's talk about Agon, my lovely esteemed
artist. Let's talk about you in general. That's a nice shirt. So
that's your merch No, no, no, no, it's just Kevin used
to make a lot of shirts and it had Kirby on it. No,
herbyan is a sonic thing on it, so I had to buy it.
But yeah, his art's always incredible. Uh so you love Kirby, that's
kind of would you say you'll claim to fame. Yeah, yeah, I
didn't want to stereotype. You just know it is puffball. No, I'm
okay with it. There's worse things to be associated with, so I'm okay
whenever a pink puff the thing is. Also, Nintendo loves Kirby with the
passion. I feel like that's the most loved franchise Nintendo has. No one
loves Kirby more than themselves. Works out easy for me, that's true.
They pump out whatever garbage game they want every year, and they're always like
at least somewhat decent, and it works out. It is very random because
I never see Kirby as like an old stop on not intended. Yeah,
but he gets more games awesome than anybody else works for me. So yeah,
it's a Kirby created great for me. Man, that's pretty awesome.
Yeah. You how often do you upload? Is it bi weekly at this
point? Because you have videos take a lot of work. Yeah, so
the schedule is weird now, it's at least I'm hoping once a month.
The videos are just getting longer and whatever the algorithm wants, the videos are
just getting longer. But I have a second channel now that I just call
my trash channel where I just throw whatever I want. I did a video
on another code for switch. Did you play it? No? Yeah,
Nintendo, not even the biggest Nintendo tubers played another card. No one cared,
No one cared about it. But is it? What is it?
That's the story? Basic getting into Oh like three people, like three people
have like brought this up to me on the podcast, and every time I'm
like, what is that? And I forget every time. It's a shame
on the second channel. I'm able to pump out whatever I want and try
to do that stuff weekly, and that's cool. Just like video games,
it's all yeah, but I got to succumb to whatever the algorithm wants.
So do you actually like how much? Is Kirby actually your favorite? No?
No, it's it's Is it even top ten? Yeah? Yeah,
no, it's definitely top ten. It's because there's so much Kirby to enjoy.
Yeah, and there's so many different takes on it. There's more bad
Kirby than good. That's objectively not true. Really, even even on the
Switch system alone, most of the games are really not at all. Okay,
Okay, you're gonna go into this. You like you like Star Allies?
No, No, Star Allies was very Forgotten Lands incredible. You like
the Dream Buffet? Yeah, oh, Buffet was great, Okay. The
online community was give Hihim a glutton just there's it's just he gets really fat
and goes into a cake. It was fun, okay, yeah, but
just the online community was dead immediately because no one plays. No one else
plays those games. Yeah, the Kirby Fighters had online, no one played
it. They but it works out for me for content, and I enjoy
the games, but yeah, no one else was playing them. How many
active players do you think the dream Buffet currently has currently? Yeah, if
you have to guess, i'd be impressed. If you can get any full
game going of eight, oh god, I would be bad. Yeah,
no one plays them. What it is? It's great though, Yeah,
not for you, No, not for more than eight people. You said
more Curby games are bad than good. Which ones have you played? I
played dream Buffet, I played Forgotten Land, which I liked. That one
along good Star Allies, which I hated. I didn't play the one that
looks like Star Allies that just came out that was a remake of something for
Turner Dreamland. Yeah, because Star Allies burned me. What else is on
the switch? Give me a list. You've played five of the thirty plus
Kirby games and they're just making this wild to claim up an apology for next
week. Okay, if there is a thirty games, what's the quality control?
They're all great? Okay, list me some the Dreamland trilogy, Game
Boy and Super Nintendo are really good, account good Superstars really good. Squeak
Squad is decent. What are the other ones? Got them to triple de
Luxe playing a robobot. Uh. The spin offs are good, Pinball start,
They're all at least decent. Okay, Yeah, I mean all the
ones that get brought to the classic systems are going to be classics. Yeah,
so that's fair. That is fair. I meant more than the ones
that are being made now. Forgoten Land was good. Yeah, Forgotten we
can agree on that. That said, like Forgotten Land is such a good
game. No one argues it. People just know it's going to flick at
the art and be like they did good. Yeah, that was one of
my favorite games from Switch. It was a lot, It was a lot
of fun. Yeah. But I really enjoy your content, thank you.
Thinks. I don't really watch many creators or keep up with many creators,
but I'd say at least over the last two or three years, I've watched
a majority of your content that you uploaded. I really do enjoy it.
It's similar to the kind of content that I enjoy to create. We have
different styles, but when I do my more long format reviews and it bounces
between me on camera and me not on camera doing a voice or over thing,
it's just similar vibes. So I really. I appreciate what you create
and I have a lot of fun. It's a much more common format.
All the other people were just coming out of the woodworks to do their own
take on the same comedic. Yeah whatever AVGN format. Yeah, it's not
so much a thing anymore. It it's fading away. But I just like
talking about video games in weird history. I did a video on the rabbits
the stupid things from movies soft and that was fun. I watched that one,
thank you. I watched it while plant on a fantasy. It was
a good one. You say it's fading away like that format of YouTube review,
but you're seeing nothing but more success. I feel it's weird. The
views have not really stopped. It's just it's not as it wasn't really competitive,
but it used to be five six years ago, before the pandemic,
like at least two dozen people, three dozen. Maybe we're just like trying
to do the same thing. Yeah, I guess back before when the videos
were just like ten fifteen minutes long. As the algorithm changed, it just
wasn't viable on anymore. For other people who make good content like shout Out
Nitro, Red Square Eyed Jack a bunch of people out there still make really
good content, it's just not as like cool. Yeah, yeah, you
know, butter Gamer still does that stuff. But he just had a kid,
so he's probably slowing down. Yeah. I think maybe it became too
oversaturated. But also people are so they have such easy access to creation tools
now, being able to make whatever they want, even if it's just short
form TikTok content. Yeah, that your shorts or stream I think it just
doesn't impress people anymore. Like the way content is made, especially when you
have people like Misterbeast who do these incredible, fantastical things and then anything else
seems really low key. It becomes more about the opinion or the point that's
being made or the conversation in the content, rather than how the content is
presented. Because you could literally these days just shoot a TikTok with no editing
and get a couple million views as long as you have something to say.
And I think it's the same even with long form video content, like you
can you can highly edit a twenty minute video with fun animations and all these
crazy cuts and editing that people can do. But if you're not saying anything,
if you don't have a point in your content, no one's going to
care anymore. Yeah, before that was all it took. Yeah, as
long as it looks flashy, I would imagine when the switch to happens soon,
it happens very soon, a revitalization of interest in that type of stuff
will come back. I think because we're in like this weird lull, we'll
talk about it with the PS five. But I think console gaming right now
is in such a boring spot. Oh, we can go straight into that
if you want. Yeah, I just think console gaming is such a boring
spot. There's nothing really to say. Yeah, retro gaming is not really
hot anymore. No retro big random games off your shelf and playing. Yeah,
it's unfortunate, but yeah, I mean there's a reason why my content
pivoted away from retro gaming years ago. At this point. Yeah, I
mean almost like a seven, almost a decade ago at this point, doing
retro content outside of like whatever Rise of Kong, whatever these random bad license
games are, there's not as much interesting stuff to say. I don't know.
I think Sony and PS five and Xbox are good consoles, but it's
this is the most boring console generation I've ever seen. Yeah, No,
it's so bad. It's so bad, especially with Xbox it's been ridiculous.
But I think the streaming service or whatever the subscription service is off for enough
games. But god, that's so boring. Yeah, if Sony's actually releasing
a PS five Pro, it's the dumbest waste of time I've ever seen in
my life. It just revealed that they spent so much on PSVR too,
that they're just going to be not backstocked on units for however long because they're
not selling anything. I have mixed thoughts on all of that. I don't
think you're wrong necessarily. The PSVR thing is an absolute nightmare. I don't
understand how they put the time and effort into creating another VR headset just to
immediately drop support for it. No promotion, no ads, no other games
that I know have have come out. Oh less support than the Vita.
It got less support than the first VR, which failed technically, like it
didn't do very well. Yeah. So like, I don't understand what their
thought process was there that they think that cool of the Mountain Horizon demo game
was going to carry the entire thing. Yeah, But as far as making
a PS five Pro, yeah, it seems stupid because the the generation has
been so lackluster, and it's like, do we really that But honestly,
if you look at the specs of it, I don't know if we're able
to bring that up easily what it's leaked supposedly able to do. I feel
like that's what the PlayStation should have been able to do to begin with.
So I don't I didn't catch I don't remember all the leaks. Isn't it
like I don't know the three times ward terror flops, which I still don't
know what a terrorflop is. It's well, we'll bring it up so we're
not speculating too much. Some level AI up skin. But yeah, theoretically,
I think what I remember is it's supposed to be. That's a lot
of jarging. I think there was like a dot point somewhere that actually broke
down, but that doesn't requate to anything. Yeah, there's an a I
don't know if it's in that article. Maybe I link the wrong thing,
but go down and see if they kind of equivalate it more. There was
somewhere I probably linked you the wrong thing, unless it's all the way at
the bottom. Yeah, I might's the wrong thing. I saw someone do
like a breakdown of what that actually means, like what that will actually give
us, And you're right, it was something like three times off in certain
cases, four times faster processing. We're supposed to be able to get eight
K with AI upscaling some Here's here's the thing though, where I feel like
this is ridiculous because of the generation and the games we've gotten, and it's
like, yeah, this this boring generation, but this is all the stuff
that I feel like we should have had at the start, being able to
do four K sixty fps what they advertised that should have been, yeah,
we're getting this console now, but this should have been what we got at
the start of all of this. Just okay, So the games we're getting,
the first party exclusives, they aren't that frequent, they're all very seemy,
but the same CPU, oh my god, memory at least at the
very least, can we play these games at four K sixty And you know,
in in the Year of Our Lord, Rebirth not run at sixty four
K. No four K Nintendo brings sixty four. So I'm playing Fun fenty
seven Rebirth right now, and I am doing it in performance mode. At
thirty because just the sorry the performance mode at sixty because the four K thirty
was so like choppy and I haven't played it. Is it locked the four
K thirty when you blasted at full max? Yeah, oh you can't.
You can't do I mean, there's no I don't think there's any first party
I might be wrong. Games that do four K sixty on the PlayStation or
any console, then I don't that would match. I don't think Spider Man
did. No, I'm think sure that was also thirty frames. You want
to see more? That's fine. What a stupid generation this is? We
know what EL was, Just stupid generation. The reason why the title I
didn't know what to put for a title because I didn't know what we were
going to talk about today, really, But the leak situation I wanted to
talk about is how ridiculous that we're sat here talking about the PlayStation five Pro
that's calming at the end of the year, and we have all the specs
for it, that we're talking about the switch too, which has been delayed
to twenty twenty five. None of this has been announced. Xbox is supposedly
releasing hardware this year. They said that like when they did the Xbox said
that when they did their big thing where they were well, at least Xbox
said that. Yeah, because PlayStation hasn't mentioned anything about the pro, Nintendo
hasn't mentioned anything about the switch, and yeah, we know everything, which
is so not exciting yep, like because whatever these companies actually do reveal these
things were like, yeah we know, yeah, I hate that. Well,
at least with the switch to I can perceive what it's gonna be already.
And imagine games PS five What three games have really released that are exclusive?
Some of them could already you could run on PS four if they really
tried. Yeah, they keep they keep putting them on PC as well,
and they're on PC. It's also a wild time for PlayStation because they even
said recently, don't expect any first party sequels for like a year or two.
You might get some other like new ips or things. But also here's
a new console coming out. I was a portal. It was the portal
last year. Can I say I have completely come around on the portal?
So I have a Steam deck that has the there's a streaming app on that
yeah five, And people say it runs better, really streams games better than
the portal does. So I've talked about this. The portal came out,
I hated it. Then I upgraded my router to like a beast router and
that fixed all my issues. I've pretty much I've played like fifty five hours
of Final Fantasy Rebirth and pretty much all of it was on my portal and
not a single stutter and it looked amazing. And I'm having a blast with
it. Okay, you can't leave the house with it, No you can't.
But I played like Kim, We'll watch like we've been watching Bachelor.
We've we've blasted through all of Bachelor, all of ninety day. Oh and
I sit there, I sit there on my little portal playing. Uh yeah,
I know you need. I worked on that show, did you?
Yeah, dude, yeah, yeah, it's so good. Is that the
show with the guy who put the mayonnaise in his hair? Yeah? I
mean that's that's all. Now we're up to Gino and uh, what's Gino's
wife's name? Jasmine? Yeah? From Panama. Yeah, I did a
tell all with Darcy and Stacey. Also, that's crazy. What's who's Angela?
Right her? Yeah? Yeah, she was a nightmare. But he's
on the current season. She I know she saw me the second time.
She goes, oh, I remember you, cutie, and I was like,
I need to leave right now. Time. You don't want to date
mema. No, but yeah, I watch I watch shows like that because
I don't really need to watch it to listen to it. So the screaming
and crying while while I'm playing my Final Fantasy, it's good stuff. So
you're not you're not looking forward to the PlayStation five pro. I wish,
I like, I just wish I could. I think gaming and is in
a good spot in terms of games that are releasing. There's a lot of
good stuff to play. Yeah, but just in terms of the console generations,
I just both companies really are just putting no. I I know,
I love Game Pass. I play my Xbox more than I play oh yeah,
these primary consoles. The one thing they've nailed is like games on demand
and like giving you an extensive library of backwards compatibility, and then the streaming
type games and then the Game Pass and all of that just a huge library.
Plus is a good lineup too. Why make new ones when we've been
making them for the last twenty years, you know. So meanwhile, Nintendo's
releasing all these games that people, it fills out their release calendar, but
no one plays them. You didn't play another code. No one played another
code. Oh yeah, but that's no one's playing Marvels. That's not let's
not up based all the Nintendo's releases on another code. I'm just saying.
People played Tears of the Kingdom, people played Forgotten Land. But that's what
That's what I want Sony to do. They have this crazy library of franchises.
Just pumps some rapp of the Rapper, the Rapper Ape, Escape,
Legend, Dragoon. They have all these franchises that they just sit on.
Yeah, when Sean Layton was around, he was pumping. He got vib
ribbon back. That was crazy. Would you want like, because Naughty Dog's
not going to do it, would you want another team to take like Jack
and Daxter and make that. Yeah, I mean that's what I want Banjo
to be. They should I don't need Rare to do. You know what
they should do. They should hire a toys for bubb now that they're doing
their own thing, and get them to make Jack and Daxton next Jack and
Daxter trilogy. I just like platformers, Yes, but it would fill out
the scalet the schedule just fine. Apparently they're making a gravity rush movie.
Oh movie, that's what we need, more movies. Did you medal show
that was so bad? It was okay? I like Anthony mackiw a lot.
Did you watch the uh the ca one, the Grand aristhmo? Yeah,
the full title Grand Arismal based on a true story. They made sure
that's in the full title of it. No, I did not watch Grant.
We're on our flight and it had it and it's and it says Grand's
Arismo based on a true story. That's the full story. That's the full
that's the story the game. It's like, I think a kid who wanted
to be a race driver and then played Grand Chrismon on PS one to live
his dream. Like it's actually it's actually a real story. They made sure
to let me know because it's in the title. Was the guy from Stranger
Things in the in part of the real story or is he? I don't
know the biopan. I didn't watch it, so I don't know. I
didn't see if there's a plot twist in it. Damn. Though the Metal
was okay. Samoa Joe was a sweet tooth. Yeah, the body double
the body. Yeah, I know, I know. It's pretty funny.
Yeah, but so bad. Speaking of games, love games. We uh
we mentioned we're at packs. I didn't mention this, but we're gonna try
and attempt. We don't have to do it right now. You can do
that. We can do the read first. Yeah, but we're going to
try and attempt to have someone our friends Matt and Kayla call in from the
show floor because we haven't had a chance. I haven't gone in yet to
go ye there, but we're not there. Who's there? I got the
people have been oh your buddy, they said Boogie. No, absolutely,
not not a fan. Sorry, is that a hot take? No,
I'm not a fan either at all. It's not a heart take it or
we could address the Boogie situation. Addressing the situation. So we're gonna try
cutting to them at some point because I want to see if they can find
the Nintendo's on the floor. So it's just Pokemon. Well no, so
I've been texting him. He they are there somewhat, but we'll go okay.
He texted me, going, yeah, they actually put the switch to
away and I was like, what, what are you talking to troll me
now as I'm panicking about making sure this show goes. So we're gonna tempt
that. But the reception on the floor can be spotty. They have tested
it and they face timed out and it worked, so we've gotta see we
can get some live on the scene reporting from packs, which would be really
exciting, because yeah, we haven't had It's Thursday. We haven't had a
chance. You're here doing the podcast. I'm here doing the podcast. I
don't need to be on the floor all four days. No, it's a
long show. I came in early to do this with you. Yeah,
yeah, I have no Last year we came in, we picked up a
badge on the Thursday, took a couple of pictures with Link holding his hand
out. That was cool, and then bailed and I got the Link pin,
which is I guess worth like fifty dollars on eBay now really, Oh,
I have that. It was a Pax exclusive pin, so it's pretty
price. I gotta find that. Yeah. But yeah, last year we
went Friday and Saturday. I think this year to be Friday and Saturday,
and I'm probably head out on Sunday. Saturday. There's a Park the Boston
Commons. That's here. They had the pigeons and squirrels are so friendly,
so we we get to pet them. So if you want to pet squirrels
and pigeons, I would love to do. That's the place. That's what
we're doing on Saturday. On Saturday. Saturday, you don't even go onto
the show on Saturday. No, we're gonna go tomorrow, and we're gonna
go Sunday. I always text Aunt while we're here and like, hey,
you want to hang out? He was like, I'm not even near the
show floor right now. I'm like, that's funny. It's too tiring of
a show. If if you do this as like a news thing, like
when I did all the Blockhead stuff, like being there every day, you
just have to make it work because you're covering so much crass dude, Tomorrow
see everything, and then exist for the other two days. Why I was
gonna I'm making a video about upcoming switch games, so I gotta at least
go and check out a few things Friday and Saturday. But are you guys
gonna go after this or nothing? I'll yeah, I don't know what time
they close. I think six. I'll get we'll get our badges. Yeah,
probably take a peak, take a little peak, peek, a little
looky peepee peak. You can do the sponsor. I love sponsors. Well,
get ready, here's one. Let's go okay any second. This episode,
a non tender is sponsored by Trade. Trade followed us all the way
to Boston. You know what, didn't My Trade coffee which I left at
home, don't like I could make it in the hotel room, sadly,
and I really felt the difference not waking up to my freshly ground coffee that's
delivered straight to my door every single week. And if you want that to
be your life, let me tell you how it can happen. Trade Coffee
is here to help you make better coffee at home. It brings roasted to
order coffee from more than fifty five of the nation's top roasters straight to your
doorstep. And what I love about this so much is, yeah, it's
locally roasted coffee. Sometimes. There's the place in Philly that I found now
through Trade because it delivered reanimated beans to my house that were roasted thirty minutes
down the road at a Philly roaster, and they're some of the best beans
I've ever had in my life, probably because of how fresh they are.
They get delivered and then they're at my doorstep within a day, and I
don't want to go in a Philly to get them. That sounds horrible.
I also don't want to go to a grocery store and get stale, old,
month old beans. Anyway, Sorry, I'm what a tangent about how
good trade is. I don't know about you, but right now it is
so cold, especially here in Boston. There was snow on the way in,
and there's nothing better than a nice pick me up and a fresh cup
of coffee that you made yourself. Also, what I love about trade so
many things is I get the whole beans. It's because I like to make
it myself. Do the whole espresso late deal. But if you want to
get ground beans, you can do that too, put them in a pot.
Hey, fresh coffee is fresh coffee, however you like it given to
you. You can get them weekly, bi weekly. They can be delivered
whenever you want. If you go to Boston for a few days, you
can pause a subscription because you might not need coffee at home for four days.
It's super flexible. That's why I love Trade so much. Ah,
and if you want to get some Trade coffee, if you want to get
signed up and get addicted to it like I have, jumpstart your daily routine
now by signing up for a Trade subscription. Right now, Trade is offering
our viewers fifteen dollars off select plans and you get your first bag of coffee
free. Just visit Drinktrade dot com, forward slash Nintendo. That's drink Trade
dot com, forward slash Nintendo for a free bag and up to fifteen dollars
on subscript on select subscription plans. A free bag of coffee is nothing to
sneeze at. Go get it. I appreciate it, and thank you Trade
for sponsoring this show every other week. It means so much. And if
you want Trade to keep coming back, which I I do, click the
links down below. It appreciated so much. Thank you. It's beautiful.
Oh no, it's so unprofessional? Is this what they're seeing? We're we're
actually ready to go live to the show floor on packs, but we're having
some technical issues. How much do you how much do you pay him?
It's too much? Uh? Too much? This is like his thing.
This is a little fun goofy gimmick is every episode we have a fun little
goofy thing. But I did throw this one on a kind of like last
night, kind of today that we were going to do this. Okay,
yeah, okay, there we go. Oh here we are. We also
see all of your discord. If you're okay with that, you might want
to make it. You could make a full screen Scott. Wasn't you're talking
to Scott? Make it? Make up? Make a full scream? Can
you do that? Does that ruin it? There you go? Hey,
Matt, can you hear us? I can hear you. Can you hear
me? Yeah? I can hear you, buddy, Thank you so much.
This is Matt from Needless Things, No Problem, the creator of the
non tender sign and table. That's me. Uh so what do you see
there? Live on the floor at packs, Buddy? I see some can
see yes? Oh do you want me to flip it her ount? Yeah,
that'd be great. There you go. Oh Pokemon, isn't that the
Pokemon stand? Yeah? We got uh Scarlet and Violet and Detective Pikachu and
Legends archaias detective detected Bikachu. Why don't you go get a bit of a
bit of a gameplay download on that when you have a minute. I was,
I was, that was good, and then uh, I'm just gonna
walk around and Nintendo a booth for you. You can see my wife doing
art right now. Very nice. Oh really, what is what is that?
What is the Oh that's so cool. It's just a big chalkboard thing
they have so for what listeners? Pokemon Evy chalkboard that you can just pick
up chalk and draw on. That's so cool. Yes, So to get
the good is you either have to play the demos or right on the wall.
And the line for the wall was shorter, and then they have ev
super extra on that. Yeah, and then we have ev over here.
Yeah, that's the entrance and it's a big stuff. Actually, that's so
cute. So that's all they have is the Nintendo booth. They put away
the switch to before we got here. Oh man, what did it look
like? Uh? It was was pretty awesome. It's actually just the wee
you over again. Oh cool. Hell, that's what we will over.
Had two game pads and left battery life. So yeah, but that's it
for the Nintendo booth and then you do get oh this for completing it.
Oh oh cool you get you get a pack of Pokemon cards and a coin.
Yeah, so that's the convention. This is just Nintendo's booth, but
they only have Pokemon there. So Pokemon also has a big booth in the
middle. That's so funny. Then that, like, Pokemon was announced to
be going forever ago, and then a couple of days ago Nintendo's like,
and we're also going to be there with Pokemon. Yeah, they don't have
other than Pokemon there. Uh. Killer Clowns from Outer Space has a pretty
cool setup. That's cool. What is that? It's uh, and Balderskate
has it's it's one of those asymmetric horror games. But yeah, it's from
my old eighties movie. Yeah, okay, that's cool. And then bolt
Aldersgate has a huge set up up front. Oh really, what are they
doing? Which we can walk over to that if you want. Yeah,
I'd love to see that. I think you can play the game. Then
they have the merch booth and they have a bunch of I don't know,
it's like a big castle got oh wow. Yeah. Some of these developers
I remember last year, if a cold of the Lamb devolve a digital giant
cult totem was like it was insane. Yeah, there's some really cool booths.
So this is the backside of that. You got the merch food.
Oh, they have a big octopus ship. The mind flashes as you can
tell. Uh, both the packs. I remember, we're moving a little
further away from the door. There we go. It's not bad, it's
fine. You can see. Oh is that a mind mind flawer right there?
Yeah, what they got and they have liked cosplay of the gift Yankee.
I don't remember her name. Oh and Shot her name? Her name
is like I forgot what I name it, but abbreviated it shot. I'm
pretty sure that sounds funny. Okay, there's a bunch of dead edds just
there. Oh yeah, yeah, me too. I mean she's probably like
drawing on the Pokemon ball, I would assume. Okay, is there,
I can't hear you. I think we're losing the connection a little. Is
there anything else cool nearby that you can show us? Okay? Most of
the other stuff is like kind of on the other side. Okay, Well,
if you can do anything else, if you find anything else cool,
feel free to message you and be like, hey, I found something cool.
Can I cool back? In even if it's like, you know something,
something silly, you want to show us on the floor. Okay,
like the Dunkin Donuts booth. Yeah, like the Dunkin Donuts booth. What
does Duncan have a booth? Okay, thank you, Matt. Let us
know if you find anything else cool. Okay, we'll do thank you,
buddy. Yeah, Talent all has a booth too, Thailand, All right,
I think it was Talent has a booth. It's one of those.
So get all of your Duncan coffee caffeine and then heads straight to the tailand
old booth to calm down. Probably free energy drinks also, so you can
just get yourself a bunch of uppers and downs at the Mountain Dew. Yeah.
Yeah, I mean I am excited to check out the floor. It
looked less. It looked like the first day. It's not even like people,
but like the booths last year, I remember it was like hot to
even walk around. Yeah, it was so many booths. Yeah, there's
not a great deal happening right now. I feel like in the gaming industry,
and it's also kind of a rough time in the gaming industry because like
all these developers are getting laid off. All these companies are closing down and
now with like celebrating gaming at PATS. I mean, my favorite thing with
Packs to be positive about gaming is the indie game stuff. So you go
past yeah, Nintendo, whenever Sony was here, there's all the small booths
in the back that have just these random indie games. The developers are so
nice and friendly. Uh, and they were doing the some of the most
interesting stuff out there. No, I agree, Anton Blast, Athenian Rhapsody,
fro Gun. It's not not indie, but indie creates this here and
they have a new megamuent Bound that work like game that they announced yesterday,
and that seems pretty cool. It's cool. That's pretty cool. So,
like, all the smaller stuff is what I'm usually into, and Packs is
great for that. Yeah, I want to see indis that's the place to
go. Yeah, that's a triple A industry is crumbling and burning right in
front of every eyes. You mean you mean the quadriple A industry. Now,
we had our first quadriple a and bones right, yeah sick? Yeah,
I did. I did it feel quadruple a? Well it's the first
one of its kind, so yes, it did. It felt like a
quadruple A game. First of it'sn't just see If Thieves? But well no,
they said it's the first ever quote, so they say a lot of
things. So it is. It is. It feels exactly like a quadruple
A game. It's the only one I have reference for. I hope we
don't get any more of quadriple A games. I hope that's a one and
done because that they're not as good as as Triple A. Funny enough,
Yeah you thought they You think less is more? You think they would be.
I think, yeah, the less as the better. Yeah, yeah,
what's a double A game? Uh? Is that a thing? It
was more of a thing back like Game QPS two? What it's even an
A game? Did they just skip A and double A and just this is
triple A? Double A used to be like games that were pretty decent but
had no budget so they would meet like reach a very niche audience like Game
QPS two era. Are you making that up? Or is that what they
were? Actually that's what I used to describe it as. Okay, now
like gaming is just indies and Triple A, like there's not much of a
of a wide range. Yeah, We've had this conversation before too, But
the indie games are so ranging in quality now because of of how much indie
games have blown up in general, that you have indie games, but then
you have what some indie developers called triple eyes because they're so but think about
it. Think about think about it though, like games made by like develop
A Digital or you know, publishers that have a lot of money to pump
into their games as opposed to one guy making his first indie game. But
they're still all considered indie games. I guess, like, well, like
the New Mina, The Hollower, the New York Club Game. Yeah,
that would be a Triple I. Yeah, triple It's an indie game,
but it's Triple I as opposed to Uh, I don't know it. Just
I reviewed a game recently that was made by one guy Balatrow. Have you
played that? I just played it for the first time. Yeah, fun,
right, I couldn't. It's I can see why people are spending eighty
ninety hours in it. Yeah, it's so fun. It's a roguelike deck
building card game that's kind of based on Polka. Yeah, but it's so
much fun. It's made by one guy. That's an indie game lethal company
by one guy too. That would be wild if it is, But I
could, I could see it because it's kind of JANKI yeah, but it
works. Yeah, that's where the most fun is. Yeah, yeah,
that's true. Gaming is in a weird spot. Where do we go from
here? You put Summer Games Fest on the list. We talked about games
in a weird spot? Yeah, that's true. Are we even excited for
that? Again? It's such a weird place. Like I saw that Summer
Game Fest announcement pop up and I kind of sighed. I was like,
I don't know if I'm ready. Yeah, you can just talk about the
industry as a whole because it's a dumpster fire right now. My whole thing.
With all this, I think I respect the hell out of Jeff Keeley
for what he does wants to do for the industry. I think he's a
net positive for the industry. He can't put on a good show to save
his life. Really, what about game awards? I do agree with that
there's super it's always super boring, And like, I think game awards are
so mismanaged because some of the awards that could be cool, they just have
like a woman on the side of the screen be like and this one,
let's move on, and that's it. The awards are handled really crappy.
They've gotten they've got him better over the years, Like now they actually show
like a real of like best Actor, here's the performance, best song,
here's a clip from the song. Previous years, they would just be like
best actor this guy, and you'd be like why though, Yeah, at
least now they actually show the performance and stuff. They are trying to flesh
it out, but they still take half of their awards and just blast through
them. Yeah, like win, win, win, win win. I
think he's trying to appeal to everybody. Who can't appeal to everybody. He's
trying to miss a beast it. Yeah. I went to the Game of
Wards in twenty seventeen and it was the same year as the last PSX,
and that was the only reason why I want was because we went for PSX
and it was fun. Actually going is cool because you get the first interact
with people and do stuff. But yeah, watching it, I don't care
about Yeah, I have no interest. Yeah, So I gave Jeff enough
shots as a fan to put on a good show. I just don't think
he can do it like I think. I don't figure if it was Summer
game Fest when the Sonic game got announced Sonic Super and that was like the
only game people seemed to be hyped about. I liked that game. But
if that's the most exciting game you got out a four hour show, I
guess none of that stuff is really his Jeff's fault. Yeah, he's gonna
say think but really, after picking the industry for ten years doing this stuff,
you'd be able to finagle your way into some cooler announcements. I mean,
I think it's tough when you do a game show every year at the
same time you really are I would have differently if Jeff also before every show
was like I just saw this new trailer. You guys, You guys aren't
ready. This is gonna my like, your lives are gonna be so different
when you see this trailer, it's gonna blow your mind. And it's another
space shooter, like, okay, cool, And then we're gonna talk about
stupid Kadima for thirty minutes because their best he's my favorite. One last year
was when they were talking about the what's that? What's the developer that made
the space game No Man Sky, Hello Games, hellow games How they were
like, last time you were here, you over hyped your game, and
then then they just straight up over hype to the new game again together with
Jeff Gayley and I don't know Jeff. Recently with not talking about layoffs and
stuff, he's I'm starting to get robbed the not talking about like because he
would keep tweeting. He was tweeting. I forget what hyped thing he talked
about, but it was like the week thousands of people lost their jobs across
different companies and just didn't refer to any of it. Yeah, it's just
weird. What do you want him to say though, Just acknowledge it.
He's talking about how great the industry is. Yeah, I mean it could
be the same what I said. Games are in a good spot in terms
of what's releasing. There's a lot of fun games out there, but the
industry is on fire. Yeah that's true. Bad, Yeah, it's tough.
And then yeah, we're supposed to go in a summer game fest game
fest baby whoa and like celebrate everything happening in the gaming space when everything's actually
on fire. Yep. Three, just being real, I actually had fun
doing that. I kind of do miss E three. I only miss it
for the spectacle because yeah, I give me a reason to go to LA
and also there's just so much stuff going on at that time. I preferred
the format of E three because it was a bunch of publishers and developers putting
on their own show in a concise week of like show slots, and they
brought their best stuff, and there wasn't a great deal of talking at least
trades. By the end of it. It was a real trade shoe,
it wasn't. You just got the updates in like a forty five minute show
for each person, or the larger channel's got like an hour sometimes more.
But it was filled and then you get out. You know, packs is
a show, sure, but it's not a trade show. It's not like
CS or NAB like these like real this is for the industry. E three
was that, and then they I mean, you know, I can't say
anything because it gave me a platform to do stuff on. But still,
like, I don't know, I like the whole industry day. Give it
to us first and then let everybody else come and check it out. I
agree. I'd love for I'm all down for more celebrations of games because there's
a lot of cool stuff going on. But I don't know. I just
don't think Jeff can do it, honestly, So how would you do it?
How would you do Jef's job for him? I would just try to
focus on a lot of the smaller doves. Not everything needs to be about
the Triple A Games. I think it's obviously they have the most money,
and I think that's how they finagle their way into the show because they pay
the most money. But I think the most interesting stuff always happens from not
Triple A Games, and they get some cool stuff now and then, like
I think Eighties two was announced, I won and that was a big surprise.
They announced the series X one of the Game Awards and that was like
pretty exciting. But every time they do their World premiere and I always come
out tired. So I mean, just try to find a better do a
better job looking at Twitter, see what interesting games are coming out, because
Twitter is honestly as much of a help it Twitter is in terms of people
getting their games out there that they're working on. There's a lot of cool
stuff being made. I don't think you're wrong, and I think I agree
that when we when we avid video gamers that play everything, including indie games,
and we acknowledge that there are a lot of other experiences out there,
and sometimes there's experiences come in smaller packages that can be just as fun.
Like obviously you played Bauco, which you seem to agree that was yeah,
a lot of fun. But you give that to ninety percent of the general
gaming community at large, and they're going to be like, what is this?
Where's my guns? Where's my call of duty? So when you're putting
on a massive spectacle of a show, I mean, if you've ever streamed
it or reacted to it, and you've seen the live chat, whenever it's
the indie game, whenever it's the artistic sort of oh that's an interesting concept
kind of game. The chat's always l l l z z z snooz snow
snooze. But then you get like that cinematic trailer that you and I watch
and we're like, there's no gameplay. This game could be anything. It's
a dime. A dozen chat is exploding with what is this? When's it
come out? What's the release date? It's cool? Yeah, So I
think it's difficult to balance that because the more indie special gems you put into
a big blockbuster event with World Premie Yere, the more people tune out and
say, what the hell was that? Where were the good games? Yeah,
I mean that's how State of Plays kind of are too. I come
out of most State of Plays like that was boring, but some of the
hardcore Sony fans are like that was great. Yeah, And there's just such
a disconnect there. But like Jeff tries to appeal to everybody, I think,
and I think that's a problem. I think just acknowledge that it's just
you're trying to do a mainstream thing. Yeah, and no nothing, no
disrespect to esports people. I understand that that is actually like genuinely takes a
lot of time and effort to dedicate like six or seven awards to esports teams
and coaches and stuff, and then when Jeff expects me to go in and
vote for these people, I have no idea what they are. Yeah,
you know, he really tries to like appeal to every single thing, and
there's always something that comes out of it. By the end of the show,
like Jeff didn't know how to read the room. But it could also
just be appealing to social media. I don't know. That's just how I
come out of it. The awards are a mixed mash of things. I
always find it weird when I'm voting for the awards and then I get to
the esport creator portion of it all. Yeah. Also, what's the difference
between the Best Game of the Year and game Best Game Direction? Yeah,
I know, I always yeah, I know, I agree. Well,
stuff like that, I think, and then there's like there's I can't remember
what the other one was. It was like best Multiplayer Game, and then
Best co Op Game, and then Best Family Game, and it's like it's
all the same best games that's still supported. Yeah, like last year too.
Yeah, and they're always the same five games in the list. There's
always No Man's Sky in Fortnite, yeah, and then Genschin stuff like that.
So I think, well, that's also the Game Awards. Also,
this is not that different. There's always Content Creator of the Year, and
it's ever always before in my life. I've never saying I need to be
on there. I'm just saying it's weird. I've never seen these people before.
I do not in any way, shape or form think I qualify as
a content Creator of the Year if I ever qualified for that, even at
my peak would have been a few years back, and I don't think even
then I qualified for something like that, like such a bride, I don't
want to be in it. I'm just saying that so I can now say
it's always streamers, yeah, not content creators as far as someone that's actually
creating like content, and it's always people that you've never heard. There's like
one person there every year. I'm like, I guess I'll vote for them
because I've seen them on a stream Yeah, you know, I feel like
there needs to be Streamer of the Year if you're gonna do that, and
then like long film content creator or something like that. And to further my
point, I find it ridiculous that Scott has never been at least nominated.
That's insane, at least nominated very much. That is a content creator.
He got himself on TV. Yes, crazy, that is crazy, Like
I know G four is dead now, but the fact that he was just
able to get the stuff you already made on national television, yes, insane.
I agree. If you could pick right now this year's Game Awards content
Creator of the Year. And here's the thing is, Scott, I think
it deserves to be in every list. But even then, I feel like
he should have been a couple of years ago at this point, because I
don't know if he's doing anything necessarily this year that stands out over his other
years. But like this year or even if you're thinking in the last like
year or two, what is your content? In my mind? First,
Summoning Salt, Oh, never heard of him? Really? Yeah, that's
on the these really deep histories of speed runs. Okay. He'll just take
like a random game or category of game and go into like this fifty to
sixty minutes, sometimes like an hour and a half. It's very much a
documents deep history of like just this one game speed run okay, And it's
so interesting. His music choices are great, Like God, Summoning Salt is
a star, Like I don't know how many subscribers he's at now, but
he's skyrocketed, Like I'll put it on my list. I want to Summoning
Insult is awesome. So that was the first name that came to mind.
He did the the Myrocart one, right, we're about like how to get
like the ten seconds or last Yeah, dude, that it's crazy and just
specific levels too. He did like Rainbow Road. Just a video on Rainbow
Road's like an hour here's blindfolded punch Out. I think I just didn't that
was it. Wow. Yeah, it's great stuff. So that would be
my guy. I don't know. I can't really say this year. I
would think at some point Nankee Jake would have been a great nomination, maybe
a year ago, a couple of years ago. Whenever a content creator uploads
and you got it and it's like, we gotta stop what we're doing.
Yeah, Well, Donkey about Donkey is another one. I mean, he's
got games coming out this year, Big Mode, He's got Animal Well,
which we played at packs last year. He'd be great to nominate this year
for content creator gaming content Creator of the Year, actually supporting the game industry.
I guarantee you he will not be there. It'll be five streamers.
Again. It gets into conspiracy theory stuff. I think there are too many
like investor hands in the bucket. Yeah. I probably wouldn't like Donkey's image,
and I would assume he's too nonsensical of a guy. I mean a
YouTuber one last year deservingly so actually I think she is awesome and deserve to
win it. But nonsensical, Well, I don't know, that's my that's
my thought. Yeah. I think about what these investors look at, and
they look at Dunky just doing funny voices and stuff and his avatar for his
game studios a big Frog. They might look at that and be like,
I don't know, this doesn't seem well, then that's just that's that's just
that's just proving our point of being out of touch. Oh, it's definitely
even the case. It's definitely out of touch. Yeah. And granted that's
just the Game Awards Summer games Fest a different thing, but I feel like
the same thing still applies. And obviously us we should have been nominated.
Absolutely, we've been in the game long enough. I know, right,
need some grandfathered inn award just for putting in our time blood, Yeah,
I need, I need, I need a grandfather award. We've pivoted so
many times to things ten plus We've seen man ten plus years still hanging in
there, canceled yet cutting it close at times. Yeah, bowl as a
new most likely to get canceled on YouTube. I'm not dealing with this.
She's gonna make their apology video next? Who do you think pretty one in
the stream. Let's be real, who do you think out of you and
me would have to make an apology video? Who do you think is gonna
if one of us did? From here? Like, let's let's act like
this is a high school thing where you're like feeling like the most likely to
who's most likely to to? I'm pissing off more people on Twitter? You're
true, you're very snarky on two, very snarky on which is what's what
I usually like. It's so much fun to be fair, so much fun.
Uh, but we both have people that just kind of hate us for
no reasons. Oh, people hate so weird. People try and cancel me.
And I'm not saying you can't. I don't need to be liked,
that's fine, No, but some people just hate what we do. Yeah.
People, No, people hate, people hate our existence. Yeah.
I've had many talks with my therapist and and Kim who's my pseudo therapist about
all of this, like why do why do people hate me? You know,
like I'm part of this now too. You've been every week? Man,
He's like, he sends me screenshots to comments like, please, do
I do that to people too? I like it a lot of stuff.
Oh, I'm just start sending them to mean now, I'm legitimately just trying
to I'm just trying to figure it out, because for a while there I
was trying to figure out what I can do different to not rub people the
wrong way or to not have people I was like, what what am I
presenting that I can change? But then through therapy recently and also just talking
to Kim, I don't gotta change shit. No, Like, I'm just
me, And if you don't like that, I am sorry, but I'm
not gonna change for you. I'm just doing what I can here. I
just I love Nintendo. I have a podcast about it, and I make
video games about it. If you don't like that, you don't have to
watch Shane Brees being snarky on Twitter just to be I like, I kind
of like poking the beehive a little bit. I like poking the Beehive two
when I I don't really tweet at all anymore because I hate the place,
but whenever I do, one of my favorite things to do that rubs people
the wrong way, even in these episodes. Sometimes I love playing dumb.
I love just acting like I don't get something, or tweeting something like I
don't know if you saw my tweet when the less direct was coming up,
and I tweeted things we can expect, and it was a whole list of
just like we're not like gonna get any of these things. It was like
switch to It was Metro Prime four first look at gameplay, it was Mario
cut ten Poke, I think Pokemon Day and Night or thing I wrote.
It was like a whole list that ended up blowing up and getting like ten
thousand likes and a bunch of retweets, and all the replies were like,
this guy's a Nintendo guy, or like you really think that's gonna be a
Mario cut? Like almost nobody. You had Bob on it. Bob thought
I was serious. Oh you had Bob on the Bengo car. Oh yeah,
I put just a picture of Bob's face on the Bingo card. And
people took this so seriously. I think even my friend Kip, who I
talked about earlier, when I saw him next he was like, so you
really think to switch to? No, it wasn't Kip, but hi,
Kim, nice to mention you again, Love you buddy. It was my
YouTube manager. It might have been Kipped two. It was my YouTube manager.
I had a call with him and he was like, so you really
think to switch too? This was before the director. I'm like, what
do you mean. He's like, I saw your tweet and I was like,
I was like, no, that was a joke. Are you kidding
me? And he's like, I don't know. I don't pay attention to
switch stuff. You're my guy and I saw you tweet it, so I
thought that was what was happening. And I was like, I I mean,
yeah, I guess if I'm your guy, if I'm your only guy
and you take me one seriously, I guess yeah. But I don't know.
I thought I was like spoking at it. I think my last one,
my latest controversy was during the State of Play when the Death Stranding two
trailer happened. I went like ten minutes long and they didn't say it was
the last trailer. I was like, this Kajema trailer is dumb and I
don't understand the hype. Oh my god, you can't make fun of Kajima
Kojima fans. Listen. They're the most defensive people I've ever seen, which
is insane because they're getting the game that they want. Like if I make
fun of F Zero fans, which I've done that too, understandable, they
don't get their games, so they're all so upset. Fair enough, their
Kojima fans are getting their thing, and they're still defending it like crazy.
It's insane. I pissed off so many I mean with that Kojima tweet.
To be fair, Kajima fans recently, with Death Stranding kind of went through
the ring of having to defend his creative vision, and I think they just
all have that backs against the wall, especially with a sequel for it coming
out, which I didn't expect, and his new thing was a pH isn't
was the new thing they also announced, Yeah, some it's gonna blend movies
and video games together, nothing we've ever seen before. I feel like that's
kind of what Death Stranding aimed to do as well, because it was essentially
very movie like with the cut scenes and so many cut scenes, but also
like even when you were like walking through certain areas of the game and then
music would kick up and it would bring up the music title on the screen,
it felt very cinematic. Sure, kind of like a music video or
video. It felt like it felt like you were watching something more than playing
it at times. Sure, I'm happy for them, I'm glad they got
their game. Did you do not like it at all? Just not a
codream? I think Kagem is insane. I think I love I think not
having an an editor like an Ekonomia or whatever to be like, you're going
to all why why why why stifle creativity? Well, if it's if it's
just not for you, why would you want that? If if it's all
for you and you don't like it, why would you be like you need
someone to rein that in so I can enjoy it? Okay, So to
have a genuine talking such a just poking the bear. Uh. The thing
is, I don't think there's any cohesion with Deaths Raanding, at least in
the terms of the way it's being advertised to me. If the trailer's job
is supposed to make me watch him go, I want to play that.
And when they did that for the first Deaths Raanding, I watched Norman Reeds
pick off his big toenail, Like, I don't need to play this.
That's disgusting. And now in this one there's like a low frame rate puppet,
wooden puppet that hangs out with you. And then they got the other
guy who has the water guitar, and it just seems so nonsensical and all
this. Does it not sound cool? If those words you just said not
sound cool, I mean it sounds like a very weird third party movie.
There's also no gameplay in it, and I'm just tired of CG. I
mean, I've seen trailers. Yeah that is fair, but also it's probably
just more. But I think part of the issue when I tweeted it was
Sony. Typically in these shows they go like, and this is the last
game we're going to show, and it prepares you for it. They didn't
say that. They just cut the next trailer and it was a nine minute
death stranding trailer. I'm like, I'm waiting for this to end so I
can see the next thing, and they didn't do that. So when I
tweeted that the trailer is dumb, it's because I was waiting for it to
end to see the next thing, which they didn't. I don't know.
It was a whole cavalcade of things. I'm happy you guys are getting your
game. It's not for me, That's fine. What all I like our
cartoony platformers. I guess that's all I've been told that I like. So
the last thing I'll say about Death Stranding is I just love wed and wacky
man. That's why I wanted to That's why I wanted to meet Pseudo so
bad, because his games actually remind me of Kajima games. I love Devil
May Cry growing up. Those are weird and wacky, just those hacking slashes
in general. And yeah, I mean Kojima is like that, but like
another level, like his brain is just I don't even know where it is,
and it's I'm seeing. I mean, I found on Death Stranding.
Also, I loved it at the time. I loved I played it on
release. I cried at the end. It's one of the few games it's
made me cry. Really. Yeah, Okay, if you don't care about
spoilers, I can tell you why later to golf Camera. Yeah, but
yeah, it's just like stutterings the switch to in the New Curby game.
That's all I care about. Switch to a swat twenty five. It got
delayed. Yeah, but when uh you know what funny enough we'll probably get
it announced probably maybe even around summer game Fest. All right, it's very
it's very possible around that time of year. Yeah, it's a bigger deal.
I think we've covered everything. Oh the illegal thing that I bought,
Yeah, I talked about earlier. Yeah, I decided, we talked about
this. I decided we lost picture. But that's oh it came back.
I ordered a big switch. How do you feel about it? Just gave
up. So I don't know exactly what the MiG switch is. I know
that's the new that's the new way to can you just get the whole library?
There's this SD card that you can download games too. So that's why
I was so against the idea and was like, why would I want that.
I've never had a hack switch. I don't want to contribute to piracy.
So I avoided it. But then I had it explained to me by
Spawn last week and outside of the podcast when he was on, and I
was like, oh, I get that, and I kind of want that.
Do you want to know about it? Yeah? So I really don't
know. So, yes, you can do that, Okay, yeah you
can. So it's a flash card essentially that you put into your switch.
And you can just throw RUMs on it, like the Switch game RUMs on
it. It is nuts. But the way I'm going to use it personally
because I have absolutely no intention of pirating games, and anyone that thinks that
I do is wild because you've seen my collection. I literally buy Switch games
that come out that are sealed and I have no intention of playing, just
because I need to own them. I have a sickness. Oh so do
I I have like at least three hundred. I don't know about you.
I have like at least three I have over seven hundred Switch games. Oh
yeah, I know someone with a thousands that's physical. Yeah, well I
have like hundreds digitally. Like actually, I also waste my money. Yeah,
I have you to come check out the studios. I am a bigger
nut than you. So the reason why I ended up buying it is because
you can buy it with a dumper. Oh it's yeah, and I you
know me love a good dumper, good dump. So what you do?
What I want to use it for is I don't know about you, but
I came to packs and I brought my switch and I brought like ten Switch
games because I didn't know what I'd want to buy. I buy things physically.
I'm a physical collector. The MiG switch. You buy the dumper,
you stick your game into it, you dump it onto the MiG switch,
and now you have your game portably the game that you paid for, and
that is actually legal, legally in your right to take the license of the
specific game that you bought and play it or do whatever you want with it.
I mean play it, not do whatever you want with it. You
can't like modit or anything like that. That becomes illegal again. But yeah,
I decided that's actually sick because the amount of traveling I do. I
want to go to Australia soon I'm here. I'd rather dump all of my
games onto one cart. I'm also sick of always having to go through my
seven hundred games one by one find something that I'm looking for that I want
to play. It's a nightmare if they're all just on the one location.
And also then if I happen to lose my switch or my bag or whatever,
I'm just losing one sixty dollar flash card and I still have all of
my games a lot of It sounded very practical to me, and I was
like, you know what, I'm I'm gonna buy it. There's nothing that
I would download because I have everything and if it comes out, I'm going
to buy it, So I'm not buying it for illegal purposes. But also
I figured it'd be a coore YouTube video and content is content, you know
what I mean. So there's no morning you do with the switch. You
just pop it in and it works. You just pop it in and it
works. Insane. Yeah, you know, the only thing that sucks about
it is how you have to switch between the games. We talked about it
last week. So you put it in and it'll load up the first game
file on the mix switch, you take it out, you put it back
in, it'll load up the second game. So if you have two hundred
games on your switch and you want to play game, being under it and
not be unpractical, you have would take less time to go to your shelf
and get the physical. You have this slotted in and out one hundred and
fifty times to get to where you need to be, or you've unsold me
on it. Yeah. Yeah. The only thing that we decided what we
figured was a hack is you can get those things that you plug on your
SWITCHDOC that have multiple switch cuts in there and you can switch between them.
If you get one of those, you can switch that. You can switch
between the games, but you can't go down. You can only go up.
Yeah, so yeah, all right, I'm done. I don't care.
I'm done. They're talking about making other versions of this cut that have
like maybe a button on the top or a screen on it or something.
Dude, it's this big, Like, how do you put a screen on
that? Hoping to god it doesn't bide, don't know, like a calculator
like like LCD things just has a number on it that just seems risky,
you know. Then you then you have to put a battery in it too,
and you already have the the SD card slots. There's already an indentation
where the SD cart slot goes like, yeah, you're running out of real
estate at that point. Yeah, that's crazy. It would be good if
it like created a folder or something you could open and then select the game
on the actual heart. It would be great. There's an actual game that
loads up, yeah, just like you know, like a horn brew screen,
you know, two hundred and one. Yeah, yeah, that would
be cool. Actually, it has like a song it baked into it,
like Old Shop music. Yeah, I'd be totally fine with that, but
then it would immediately get taken down. There's no way Nintendo would let that
be a thing, you think, I mean it's an app at that point,
it's an application. Yeah, I think that's you have to get that
green lit by Nintendo to work. No, I don't think so. Well.
You need to have a model switch to do that and have a moded
app. I think, yeah. I don't know if they could, they
would be able to list that on the store, like I think that's where
a thing. I don't know who knows they're not doing it. I'm just
excited to play with my dumper dump. Yeah. I love good Yeah,
I love a good dump. Gonna flash my dump dump. Don't hire your
vide got a poop? Oh? What time is it? Oh? We
got we got a packs to get to. What time is it? It's
two ten? Oh? My god? Uh? Did he ever find anything
else on the floor? Okay, you got anything? He died rest in
peace? You got anything else you want to talk about? Deeo Kojima my
favorite video game developer of all time. You made some enemies today? Oh
yeah, no, I do. Do you like anything happening? Right now.
Other than Kirby and the Nintender indie games, Yeah, my favorite thing.
And I just played through Persona three. Yeah, I love that credible
game. Yeah, they didn't sponsor me. Did they sponsor you? No?
I didn't know they were doing sponsored some people. I don't got sponsored
by them. Oh nice, No, right you do Nintendo guy specifically?
No. So I played through Persona three. That game was great. I
want to play Final Fantasy seven. It's so good. I've not played remake
though, I'm kind of waiting to have to play kind of wait, yeah,
I know. I'm kind of waiting for the hypeer, the third one
to come out so I can just knock them all out instead of waiting five
long games. Yeah, you get two hundred hours in that if you do
that, I know. Well yeah, but if I prepare mentally for it,
fair because when they announce it, it's going to be like two years
down the line. Anyway, do you not have spoilersts for the first game
already? I know I know the end of that. Have you played seven?
I've also not play eight Original seven, but I know the spot,
like, I know the story and I just need to experience it. But
I know the end of remake. I know Rebirth has like it. Well,
they're it's so, it's dirreaty out, it's advertise. Okay, I
don't want to know, O. I don't. You might have noticed about
me. I don't pay attention to things for the best. I don't know
who anything is or what anything is. I don't know what's going on.
That's for the best. I live in my own little world. No I
I I still do love gaming. I think Triple A Gaming is in a
very rough spot, but I have no shortage of games to play. I
think there's so many cool indie games coming out. Go find your any indie
devs on Twitter. They're always happy to like advertise their game. Twitter as
much of a cesspit as it is. I've curated the algorithm enough to where
a lot of times a tweet will show up of just some random person advertising
their game with the wishless link on Steam and my wishes has like five hundred
games on it now, oh my god, And now I have like this
my Steam dog. I'm playing a ton of stuff like on that ton of
indies on that Pizza Tower just got a new update. Peacha Tower is great.
That's a great game. Uh yeah, so indies I love. Nintendo's
always got my back. Uh, Sony and Microsoft have work to do,
they hope. They both have work to do. The entire gaming industry has
work to do. But indies are on fire. You see Final Fans of
Rebirth sales? Oh, apparently they were bad, which is crazy to me.
It's such a big release, in such a great game. It's better
than the first one. It's because it's a PS five exclusive. That's wild.
Yeah, the market's too high for PS four and it's one of the
few PS five exclusives and it's sold I think weaker than Final Fantasy sixteen.
That is actually insane, I believe. But Dragon Quest Monsters three, which
was also Square Enix and on the Switch, sold like crazy. So that's
crazy. I'm going to see a change. Companies all care about money,
but they're not making the right calls. No, So well, what a
sad note to end on. We don't games are fun. We do have
a bonus episode to do for Patreon, which you don't have to around for.
He don't want to. It's a half on album. I'm not here
for packs. They always say yes. I feel like you guilt them a
little bit. You don't have to. I guilt them. I mean I
mean that I'm joking. Oh my god, you could leave. You can
go, You should go, You should go. Can I take the water?
