<v Speaker 1>Hey everybody, it's Tuesday. Welcome to the Giant BombCast, Episode <v Speaker 1>nine hundred and eleven. I'm your host approaching the Green <v Speaker 1>jam Shoa, Welcome to the Giant BombCast. Joining me as <v Speaker 1>I was co captain of the ship. He's picked a <v Speaker 1>sand wedge as a driver and we're just going to <v Speaker 1>see him cook. <v Speaker 2>Jeff Grubb, it's a beautiful day out here on the greens, Janichoa. <v Speaker 3>We are really going to witness some special golfing here today. <v Speaker 1>Speaking about special golfing, it's all in the hips, because <v Speaker 1>he is the most hip person in a hip moving <v Speaker 1>guy on the podcast on the website. Jeff Beckler, Well. <v Speaker 3>No, it's a beauty all day out here. <v Speaker 4>And Agusta, we're apparencing winds out of the north, not <v Speaker 4>three miles an hour. <v Speaker 3>Did they do that? <v Speaker 4>They do the weather a lot because that matters. <v Speaker 3>That's like a big part of the gold broad. <v Speaker 1>Part of the meta. <v Speaker 3>Back to you at the at the studio, Jan, we have. <v Speaker 1>The human equivalent of a sandtrap. Dan Reichert, I. <v Speaker 5>Feel like I'm going to strain something trying to talk <v Speaker 5>quietly for the first. <v Speaker 1>Time in my life. How you do it? Is this <v Speaker 1>good they don't have to trap it hurts I hear it, <v Speaker 1>heard it. We all have to do this until we <v Speaker 1>introduced the last guy. Okay, all right, who's he's no <v Speaker 1>longer the bad boy of games media because he's a <v Speaker 1>dirty boy. That's right, Because he's out on the what <v Speaker 1>do you call it? It's not a field when it's <v Speaker 1>golf course court, of course, there you go. I don't <v Speaker 1>I still don't know the battle zone, that's right, Thank you, Dan, <v Speaker 1>when you're out on the battle zones. Because he's washing <v Speaker 1>his ball, that's right. <v Speaker 3>The merchmaster, my Bnatti, buy all this shit that I'm wearing. <v Speaker 3>Go to store dot die bomb dot com and deposit money. <v Speaker 3>Get hat and shirt, golf hat, golf shirt, get giant <v Speaker 3>buck golf with It's. <v Speaker 2>A merchmaster, a Pokemon that can only say the merchise selling. <v Speaker 5>I gotta say, there's several forms of Mike Manati, and <v Speaker 5>I think my favorite might be screaming merchman yeah wears Yeah, it's. <v Speaker 1>Really I really need to edit the video you did, Mike. <v Speaker 1>It just throw some CRT filters on it. Throw in <v Speaker 1>like a bunch of like PNGs of like you two <v Speaker 1>can buy Golf week March. Yeah, taking like a local <v Speaker 1>TV ed Mike Manati. I say this in the most <v Speaker 1>pop a way possible. You exude when you're in merch <v Speaker 1>master mode, the biggest Billy May's energy. <v Speaker 3>Oh yeah, sure, and. <v Speaker 4>Like we need that in the world, you know, Yes, <v Speaker 4>Jan I forgot how little you know about golf vocabulary. <v Speaker 4>I remember the last time, right, what were we doing <v Speaker 4>last time where you were just like, what do you <v Speaker 4>call the flat carpet part with the hole in it? Right, <v Speaker 4>Like you just didn't know like what a green was? <v Speaker 3>It was awesome. I think it was. <v Speaker 1>Was it Mario Golf for the switch been? <v Speaker 4>Yeah, I mean I yeah, it was. It was Oh no, <v Speaker 4>someone chested it was Bingo Papadoppolis. No, no, because that's <v Speaker 4>not quite a golf golf game. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I don't know about golf. I learned that a <v Speaker 1>driver and a sand wedge and an iron or different <v Speaker 1>golf clubs. <v Speaker 3>Would you happy, Gilmour? <v Speaker 1>I love a lot of Adam Sandler things, but I'm <v Speaker 1>not familiar with the character's familiar with. <v Speaker 5>To hockey stick. Yeah, yeah, sure, like you. I can <v Speaker 5>never think of the word pool que. Whenever she sees one, <v Speaker 5>she calls it a pool pole, And then when I <v Speaker 5>say it's a queue, she's like, I think pole would <v Speaker 5>be better. Even if so, that's not what it's called. <v Speaker 5>It's it's q Yeah, you know, Okay. <v Speaker 2>It's a little bit late to start lobbying the pool <v Speaker 2>industry to change the name of it. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I speak about pool cues and pool poles. I've <v Speaker 1>encountered a lot of old men walking to a pool <v Speaker 1>hall that bring their own cues. Oh yeah, is that yeah? <v Speaker 1>Is that like too much pieces? <v Speaker 6>I have two pool poles in my storage here. <v Speaker 1>It's like bowling balls. I get right, because you want <v Speaker 1>the weight, it feels right for you. <v Speaker 3>Same thing. <v Speaker 2>They're the exact same level. You bring your own bowling ball, <v Speaker 2>You're going to be the same guy that brings your <v Speaker 2>own pool queue for sure. <v Speaker 6>I bet fifty percent of them have flames on them. <v Speaker 1>Oh I wish, I wish. <v Speaker 2>Maybe maybe I want to say fifty one. I want <v Speaker 2>to say it's on the over. <v Speaker 1>I want to say, yeah, yeah. Do people bring their <v Speaker 1>own darts or is that yeah? I want to do <v Speaker 1>the game thing. <v Speaker 5>There's always gonna be like leagues and people who take <v Speaker 5>it super seriously and they always have their own ship. <v Speaker 4>That makes I mean, all this makes sense, right, because <v Speaker 4>all the stock stuff is it's it's garbage, it's you know, <v Speaker 4>it's been through the ringer. <v Speaker 1>Sure, sure, sure, sure sure. I'm trying to think of <v Speaker 1>another sport where you would just rock the default stuff. <v Speaker 1>But I guess if. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, the ones where has to be provided by <v Speaker 2>the league itself, right, Yeah. <v Speaker 3>There's very few. <v Speaker 4>I mean, I guess yeah, not even like people bring <v Speaker 4>their their own bats to batting cages obviously your own <v Speaker 4>clubs to the golf course. <v Speaker 6>I betles. <v Speaker 1>Okay, okay, you know what word in the in the <v Speaker 1>twitch chat? Would I use default coffee gear? You're right now, <v Speaker 1>it all makes sense, right, It just had to be <v Speaker 1>put in perspective. <v Speaker 3>I think I think I'm letting golf we get to me. <v Speaker 3>I think I'm sorry to take it too seriously. I <v Speaker 3>don't know. I stayed up like watching videos about the <v Speaker 3>actual Pebble Beach, not the Siga Saturday Quick Stadler, for <v Speaker 3>like three hours last night. I've learned a lot about <v Speaker 3>that course and why there's First I think there's just <v Speaker 3>a Golf Digest overview of it. Then there's some like Young, <v Speaker 3>there's some golf influenc there who just has a very <v Speaker 3>popular golf channel. He went the Pebble Beach for the <v Speaker 3>first time, so I watched him play eighteen holes on it. <v Speaker 3>Then there was like a restored classic matchup of Jack <v Speaker 3>Nicholas and got some guy that was older than him <v Speaker 3>at the time. He's just in his twenties then who <v Speaker 3>was like a legend, and they played eighteen on head <v Speaker 3>and it was this really interesting match. So yeah, I'm like, <v Speaker 3>I don't know if it's that or if it's just <v Speaker 3>the festive golf week atmosphere, but I just I'm like, really, in. <v Speaker 4>A golf it's an interesting course, right, it's like very famous. <v Speaker 3>It's like uh oh, it's beautiful. <v Speaker 4>It's very strange, right and difficult, and it's even it's <v Speaker 4>even better when you realize it's naturally occurring. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, he got me on the side. <v Speaker 5>Wait be young golf influencers, and I'm thinking, like, their <v Speaker 5>videos can't just be like unedited eighteen holes, right, it's <v Speaker 5>gotta be like, is it like mister beasted up? <v Speaker 7>What? <v Speaker 1>This one wasn't that bad. <v Speaker 3>It was mostly he played eighteen holes and it was cut, <v Speaker 3>so you know, it was like a forty five minute <v Speaker 3>video of him doing all that and talking about the <v Speaker 3>course and you know some goose here. I bet he <v Speaker 3>probably has more gimmicky videos too, but this one, like <v Speaker 3>you know, it's just I'm playing Pebble Beach for the <v Speaker 3>first time. This is a dream come true. You talking <v Speaker 3>about some of the history, like the seventh hole. Is <v Speaker 3>that par three that's right there on the cliff by <v Speaker 3>the ocean. It's very dramatic and beautiful because that's a <v Speaker 3>very famous hole. Craig Staydler did tell me that, and <v Speaker 3>now I understand. <v Speaker 1>Right, Yes, yes, he was very supportive, the grandfather figure <v Speaker 1>I never had until he wasn't he got I saw <v Speaker 1>a video that he had to control his rage. Of course, I. <v Speaker 3>Told you, like, I have no evidence of this, but <v Speaker 3>he just looks like a person with. <v Speaker 1>An anger management problem. And then you do have evidence. <v Speaker 2>There's literally a video where he talks about how he <v Speaker 2>control of anger management issues. <v Speaker 1>And that's why he got really into wine. <v Speaker 3>Maybe Mike Maharty, Yeah, yes, yes. <v Speaker 1>Yes, one of the same one and the same. When <v Speaker 1>I think of Mike Maharty, I think of a Walrus <v Speaker 1>as well, but like a smaller, more spelt one. <v Speaker 2>Lle you ogotiate wine with Mike Maharty now that when <v Speaker 2>there was a news story on NPR yesterday about how <v Speaker 2>the wine industry is kind of been a lull, like <v Speaker 2>people aren't buying wine the way they used to, and <v Speaker 2>so it's like they're they're gonna just let like a <v Speaker 2>metric ton of grapes rot this year because they're not <v Speaker 2>gonna be able to use it for wine. <v Speaker 1>And I was just like legitimately worried about Mike. <v Speaker 6>I'm like he was distraught he had to miss a <v Speaker 6>couple episodes. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, that's what That's what I figured all six <v Speaker 2>time off bounce back. <v Speaker 1>Okay, I really like wine, but then I've noticed I <v Speaker 1>just I think I like wine because it's cheap. Where <v Speaker 1>I go get wine, I mean there's cheaping versions of <v Speaker 1>the booze, you know. Yeah, but like I don't like <v Speaker 1>cheap beer, but cheap wine like yeah juice. <v Speaker 3>I'm with you guys there. <v Speaker 4>The delta between cheap wine and expensive wine is a <v Speaker 4>lot slimmer. <v Speaker 5>It's at Yeah, you're gonna summon Mike Mahrdy like beetle juice. <v Speaker 5>If we keep talking, It's okay, it'd. <v Speaker 4>Be nice to see him. <v Speaker 1>It'd be nice he's a nice guy. Like he's a <v Speaker 1>nice boy. He's a nice boy. And I just remember <v Speaker 1>one time we were at a bar and he looked <v Speaker 1>at me and he just like threw his hands in <v Speaker 1>the air and said, jan, I know you're looking at <v Speaker 1>my ears. I'm like, what one you know, I'm not <v Speaker 1>what And then he just goes like, I know I <v Speaker 1>have small ears. Stop looking. I can't help but look. <v Speaker 1>But it's okay if you out there have small ears <v Speaker 1>and but big eyes. Because the video versions of the podcast, <v Speaker 1>that's right, the Giant Bomb Cast, Games Mornings, and Voicemail <v Speaker 1>Dumb Truck. If you are on Spotify, Uh, the video <v Speaker 1>versions are now up there. <v Speaker 5>Uh. <v Speaker 1>There's like a small little toggle when you go select <v Speaker 1>the podcast and just like boo that and then hey, <v Speaker 1>bing bang boom, you can see our lovely mugs on <v Speaker 1>the go. I believe it also works on the desktop version. <v Speaker 1>So there we go. If you've ever only listened to <v Speaker 1>us and you want to see what we look like, Hey, <v Speaker 1>what's cooking something? I have a hair? <v Speaker 4>What what could be better than that? Aside from like, <v Speaker 4>I don't know, mugs in the store? <v Speaker 3>How up that the whole golf The before delivered a <v Speaker 3>huge sales day for us through golf Week, which you <v Speaker 3>could be a part of my going to store dot <v Speaker 3>giant bomb dot com everybody, and you're on this mug bullshit? <v Speaker 1>Right? <v Speaker 4>That was That was yesterday, Mike today is today. <v Speaker 3>Lately selling more colf shirts and the hats. Hey, why'm <v Speaker 3>sure to that? That's what I'm doing today? <v Speaker 1>It's golf week. <v Speaker 3>Idea to do a golf week There I am dressed <v Speaker 3>like an asshole, I mean a stud to sell. <v Speaker 4>The shitory straight, get your story straight. <v Speaker 1>Speak about getting the story straight. We're open to communication, <v Speaker 1>we're being honest and what we're going to be honest about. <v Speaker 1>And I'm going to toss this to Jeff Beckler. You're <v Speaker 1>going to get an email in your email inbox from <v Speaker 1>you might us you might Yes, No, it's not from us. <v Speaker 1>It's not from us. See that's why clear communication. So <v Speaker 1>I'm going to toss this to the more qualified person <v Speaker 1>to talk about it. <v Speaker 4>That's right, me, the emailer, the one and only true emailer. No, listen, folks, <v Speaker 4>depending on the level of engagement that you've had with <v Speaker 4>our website over the last I don't know, two years <v Speaker 4>or so, you will likely be getting an email. I <v Speaker 4>believe the email will come from our from like a <v Speaker 4>no reply at Giant Bomb. But it is an email <v Speaker 4>that you should take seriously because it will also include <v Speaker 4>instructions and directions on migrating your account to our brand <v Speaker 4>new website which is coming later this year fingers crossed. <v Speaker 4>And yeah, that's just something we want to put out <v Speaker 4>there as a heads up to make sure that you <v Speaker 4>are prepared, so that you know you're hearing it straight <v Speaker 4>from the source. We are authenticating it. It is not spam, <v Speaker 4>just so you know. It is a real ass email <v Speaker 4>that you need to take seriously and read and hopefully <v Speaker 4>you know if you want to join us in our <v Speaker 4>next evolution of our website, you opt in to the <v Speaker 4>new site and we can bring you along for the ride. <v Speaker 3>That's about it. <v Speaker 4>Just want to put that out there on everyone's radar, <v Speaker 4>make sure you know what's coming. You might get this <v Speaker 4>email today, you might get it next week, you might <v Speaker 4>get it two weeks from now. But if you do <v Speaker 4>get it, I think the subject will say something about <v Speaker 4>you know, independent Giant Bomb and all that good news. Yeah, <v Speaker 4>give it a read, let us know if you have <v Speaker 4>any questions. And that's about it, Jan speak about two weeks, <v Speaker 4>give or take. <v Speaker 1>I just want to say this out loud because this <v Speaker 1>is an open forum and a safe space to talk. <v Speaker 1>But I miss seeing yell in person. I wish I <v Speaker 1>could see all in person. Dan, can you do anything <v Speaker 1>about that. <v Speaker 5>I can absolutely do something about that. Jan, you know, <v Speaker 5>four or the five of us on this call. You know, <v Speaker 5>Mike wasn't born yet. Mike, remember in twenty twenty two, <v Speaker 5>we all got together and we had a real fun <v Speaker 5>time on the East Coast and we spent fifteen hours <v Speaker 5>spending time with each other, playing local multiplayer games with <v Speaker 5>each other, and doing a whole subscriber drive thing for <v Speaker 5>a giant bond back in the day. <v Speaker 6>That was three years ago. <v Speaker 5>Now we including young Mike Manatti and including Chuck and Sean, <v Speaker 5>we'll be going back to the East Coast. We did <v Speaker 5>fifteen hours last time, twenty four hours stretch switch, YouTube, <v Speaker 5>subscriber drive, Giant Bambathon. We got a lot of fun <v Speaker 5>stuff planned, a lot of stuff in the works right now. <v Speaker 5>We've been talking about it for like two months now. <v Speaker 5>I think maybe some people here haven't seen love on <v Speaker 5>a leash. We'll see if there's some incentives for that, <v Speaker 5>but yes, details to come. But the main thing you <v Speaker 5>need to know is Monday October twenty seventh, five pm <v Speaker 5>Eastern until Tuesday October twenty eight at five pm Eastern, <v Speaker 5>we will be doing the Giant Bambathon twenty twenty five <v Speaker 5>in person from the East Coast, all five of us, <v Speaker 5>Chuck and Sean be there. <v Speaker 1>Yes, let's leave my hair alone this time. I agree. <v Speaker 1>Everyone chat's worried about it. I should be too. Yep. <v Speaker 5>Well, we also got to figure out what we're doing <v Speaker 5>with Extra life and Kayla. Kayla is always a foot, <v Speaker 5>so you never know. <v Speaker 1>She just comes at me with the scissors. That's right, <v Speaker 1>thought up, But she's a person. Book, I'm just fucking <v Speaker 1>donkey Kong. That's awesome. <v Speaker 5>Hell yeah, kaylamon, Yes, it's gonna be awesome. We have <v Speaker 5>a lot of fun stuff planned and uh, it's gonna <v Speaker 5>get stupid and fun late night twenty four hours evening <v Speaker 5>to evening. <v Speaker 6>You'll want to tune in for this. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I'm very excited. There's been a lot of behind <v Speaker 1>the scenes work going on a gang, so hats off <v Speaker 1>to y'all here. I'm very excited to see y'all very soon. <v Speaker 1>I'm less excited to perhaps witness love un a leash. Dan, <v Speaker 1>there's no guarantee you have to watch it the least lounge, <v Speaker 1>the least lounge. Well, I was going to throw it <v Speaker 1>to Dan to reveal it, Mike, but I guess you <v Speaker 1>could just talk about it. I got excited, Mike, Why <v Speaker 1>don't you tell us the name of motherfucker? We had <v Speaker 1>the newshole at Dan's place in the East Coast. We're <v Speaker 1>gonna have what Mike. <v Speaker 3>Wish? Wow? <v Speaker 1>Why did you say like that? I felt like I <v Speaker 1>had to do something. <v Speaker 5>Yeah, I'm about to fuck up my like Amazon recommendations <v Speaker 5>when I buy like seven leashes with human sized collars. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, you can do that. You can go to your <v Speaker 3>your local Roman sort. <v Speaker 1>Of find. <v Speaker 2>Extreame restraints dot com. Everybody there's they're a sponsor. <v Speaker 1>Now, Yeah, there you go, which is so leaicious on <v Speaker 1>the bum. Michael, you got all the power to do that, <v Speaker 1>you sybody. You don't even have to word yeah embroidered wishes. <v Speaker 1>Oh great, Yeah, fantastic. It's gonna be a fun time. <v Speaker 1>I'm very excited. Perhaps, uh well, we will do a <v Speaker 1>full twenty four and who knows what else we're gonna do. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, it just it feels like a chance, like really <v Speaker 2>like just set up, set us up for the future, <v Speaker 2>and just like really declare, Hey, yeah, all that stuff <v Speaker 2>happened earlier this year. <v Speaker 1>Now we're going forward and this will be the. <v Speaker 3>Real start of it. So very excited about it. <v Speaker 1>Yes, yes, will there be singing, who knows. We'll probably <v Speaker 1>do a podcast or two in between we are during <v Speaker 1>actually yes, during during Shenanigans will be afoot. I'd like <v Speaker 1>to order a pizza at one point the sorry. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, it's Detroit invention. <v Speaker 1>Actually, yeah, you know I'm gonna say this. I think <v Speaker 1>I like Detroit style pizza. <v Speaker 2>Better anyway better, yeah, turned me ye, It's just it <v Speaker 2>is demonstrably better. <v Speaker 3>Opinions. I think both are good. <v Speaker 1>Probably both are good, you know what, that's right, Just <v Speaker 1>like Jimmy Fallon where we're not going to get political here, <v Speaker 1>how dare you? <v Speaker 4>And everyone loves that guy on a on account of <v Speaker 4>that bullshit. <v Speaker 6>Mike, the Jimmy Fallon of games media. <v Speaker 3>Though the good boy never sold anybody anything, that's true <v Speaker 3>are you talking about? I think he has. <v Speaker 6>Somebody's bought a Fever Pitch DVD at some point. <v Speaker 1>Depressing. <v Speaker 3>I just SND. <v Speaker 4>I think he has sold a lot of people, a <v Speaker 4>whole lot of nothing. <v Speaker 6>Hang on, I need to check something right now. I'm searching. <v Speaker 1>And don't you look Barrymore in that movie? Yeah, she <v Speaker 1>probably sold that movie. <v Speaker 6>Do you think I'm gonna look this up? <v Speaker 1>I don't know. <v Speaker 6>Do you think he put out a comedy album with songs? <v Speaker 1>I'll who probably? Yeah? Are you gonna look? Yes? <v Speaker 5>And if he has one, there's gonna be an option <v Speaker 5>in the Leash Lounge where you can just send some <v Speaker 5>of the Leash Lounge and that's put on headphones and <v Speaker 5>listen to the entire gymn. <v Speaker 3>Maybe pot he collaborated on something. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, he's he popped on stuff and he he loves <v Speaker 1>to sing on his show. But I don't know if <v Speaker 1>he's made it. Folks album album, we have two answer. <v Speaker 5>We have The Bathroom Wall from twenty two thousand and two, <v Speaker 5>and we have Low Your Pants Off from twenty twelve. <v Speaker 1>Twenty twelve. Yeah, twenty twelve. <v Speaker 5>Seems to be an actual music album where he brings <v Speaker 5>in like, oh, it's like Timberlake and Paul mcfurk on it. <v Speaker 5>He looks like the Bathroom Wall. Okay, Okay, the bathroom <v Speaker 5>Walls count He released. <v Speaker 1>Oh Christmas album last year Holiday Seasoning. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, that's not exciting. <v Speaker 1>The look of this. <v Speaker 5>I think that the bathroom Wall is his attempted at <v Speaker 5>a Sandler thing. Here are the tracks, Idiot Boyfriend, I <v Speaker 5>Can't Play Basketball, Drinking in the Woods, Road Rage, Snowball, <v Speaker 5>troll Dolls, Celebrities, dorms, shower baskets, and the Walk of <v Speaker 5>Shame Roommates Chris Rock was my ra gotta get a <v Speaker 5>fake id troll doll jingles. We have two troll doll <v Speaker 5>themed songs in two thousand and two and hammer Time. <v Speaker 1>Do you think that's just a cover of hammer Time <v Speaker 1>by mc hammer? It might be. <v Speaker 2>Do you ever think about how is the movie Fever <v Speaker 2>Pitch is a baseball movie, but it's a remake of <v Speaker 2>an English movie about soccer, and so in the English <v Speaker 2>movie it's fever pitch as in the field is called <v Speaker 2>a pitch, and for baseball it's because they're pitching a ball. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, that's interesting thing about that movie. <v Speaker 1>Absolutely it is. <v Speaker 6>Yes, do you want to see Taxi? <v Speaker 1>Yeah, Queen Latifa. <v Speaker 5>And yeah no no, I watched that and Set of <v Speaker 5>Love on a leasht. <v Speaker 4>Nine tomatoes, nine Yeah, couldn't break double digits, could it? <v Speaker 1>No? Not quite? Oh you mean a nine out of <v Speaker 1>one hundred. <v Speaker 6>Yes, that is what I meant. <v Speaker 1>That's what I meant. <v Speaker 3>Okay, Wow, I was confused there for a second. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, So in uh, when I was in college, I <v Speaker 1>had like a I forget the specific class, but you <v Speaker 1>just kind of had to make like a mini reel <v Speaker 1>for yourself. And I made this whole thing where I <v Speaker 1>just wanted to take Jimmy Fallon's job of hosting Late <v Speaker 1>Night and I just had like under it, and I <v Speaker 1>thought I did a pretty good job. I don't fucking <v Speaker 1>know where that file is anymore, but the whole thing <v Speaker 1>was better than Jimmy Fallon and my classmates. Dug it. <v Speaker 1>I thought I did a very good job in everything. <v Speaker 1>But my my professor asked to speak with me after class, <v Speaker 1>and I thought like, oh, she just wants to congratulate <v Speaker 1>me or tell me I did a good job, because <v Speaker 1>like your boy was busting out the after effects and <v Speaker 1>everything and shoes and sound design ship, which was above <v Speaker 1>all this like fucking eyemovie shit my classmates were doing. <v Speaker 1>But anyway, she pulls me aside and she goes like <v Speaker 1>jan I don't. I don't think it's a quite a <v Speaker 1>polite of you to be bashing on a beloved member <v Speaker 1>of the media. And yeah, I'm a big people describe <v Speaker 1>Jimmy Fallon of the media. No one ever said that, No, well, <v Speaker 1>I had. <v Speaker 4>One, No, but I think that's the kind I think <v Speaker 4>that those are the people who like that something in him. <v Speaker 6>Nice boy. <v Speaker 1>Yeah yeah, And then she just kept going like I <v Speaker 1>loved his contributions to Saturday Night Live, and I love. <v Speaker 2>Yes, such a fair way to describe it, though, contributions <v Speaker 2>because he didn't make anyone laugh, but he contributed. <v Speaker 5>He had a decent sailor impersonation on Celebrity Jeopardy. Outside <v Speaker 5>of that, he was mostly known for sucking at like <v Speaker 5>breaking during sketches. It's like the main thing he's known for. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, yeah, yeah, I've never understood why he's popular. <v Speaker 1>No, Mike was there, a teacher, a ropey. <v Speaker 3>It's just as weird got upset on Jimmy Fallon's behalf. <v Speaker 1>I don't know. She was okay the rest of the semester, <v Speaker 1>but I didn't quite trust her and I didn't want <v Speaker 1>to bash Jimmy Fallon anymore. <v Speaker 2>We got to talk about Jimie Town for another thirteen minutes. Right, <v Speaker 2>that's the quota. <v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, check, yeah, yeah, okay, yeah, okay, did we <v Speaker 1>clear the King of Meat threshold as well? <v Speaker 3>I don't know, insane that Jimmy Fallon has a ride <v Speaker 3>in Universal. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, that's the crazy thing actually about him. <v Speaker 1>He would you say the Backlot Tour is a Jimmy <v Speaker 1>Fallon ride. <v Speaker 3>He's in Orlando. Gender is an entire ride that's just <v Speaker 3>about Jimmy Fallon. You go in the Q is themed. <v Speaker 3>The Q is actually the best part because it's the <v Speaker 3>show museum that was where Twister was. <v Speaker 1>Which was more dorade. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, and it's it's it's just a bad simulator, right, <v Speaker 3>It's really weird. It's like you're in the audience for <v Speaker 3>a show and you were three D glasses that he <v Speaker 3>races you randomly, and you're the whole theater races him, <v Speaker 3>and you go to the mood and office beloved characters <v Speaker 3>show up, like when he's that girl who goes aw <v Speaker 3>you see. <v Speaker 5>Her, right, Jimmy Foul feels like the last celebrity who's <v Speaker 5>famous just because he was on TV. <v Speaker 2>Like he's just famous because he was he happened to <v Speaker 2>be on TV. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, I think he's like. <v Speaker 5>The harbinger of the death of good late Night, you know, <v Speaker 5>because you don't. She was kind of coming in. It's <v Speaker 5>like you're starting to get like, Lettermans retire. Yeah, Letterman's <v Speaker 5>about to retire. The whole Lino Conean ships about to <v Speaker 5>go down, and Conan kind of like exits, you know, <v Speaker 5>uh late night not too long after. It's just like <v Speaker 5>I think it all got what the ship once Fallon <v Speaker 5>got involved. <v Speaker 1>You don't, okay, because if we don't get Fallon, we <v Speaker 1>don't get James Cordon right, right? <v Speaker 3>Or is that a chicken or the a kind of thing? <v Speaker 1>Oh sure, I don't know. <v Speaker 7>Uh. <v Speaker 2>At the same time as is Fallin, right, they both <v Speaker 2>started a little bit, I think a little bit. But <v Speaker 2>after okay, yeah, okay, that being said, I miss Craig Ferguson. <v Speaker 2>He's not a piece of right. He's around, he's doing <v Speaker 2>something right, He's okay. <v Speaker 1>Ferguson. <v Speaker 2>Craig Ferguson was the best. He was so good at <v Speaker 2>his monologues. <v Speaker 1>It was incredible. <v Speaker 6>Jolbourne doing is is remember Yambo. <v Speaker 1>No? <v Speaker 4>I remember being in that old was he an old school. <v Speaker 1>Whatever? <v Speaker 3>He's the creep? <v Speaker 1>Yeah? Was he talk soup. <v Speaker 3>And guy I care about Craig Stadler from Pebble Beach <v Speaker 3>Golf Leaks, speaking of golf, taking away my. <v Speaker 1>Golf Week is happening right now. <v Speaker 3>Everybody on Giant Bomb and you can celebrate with your <v Speaker 3>very own Giant Bomb golf at and Giant Bomb the <v Speaker 3>golf shirt. It's not just for us, It's for you. <v Speaker 2>He was the daily show host, former John Stewart. <v Speaker 1>That's what I was. <v Speaker 6>Thinking, old enough to remember Stuart being the new guy. <v Speaker 5>And then I also got Kilbourne's late Late show after <v Speaker 5>Tom Snyder and before Greg Perguson. <v Speaker 2>Yeah right, and Tom Snyder was like not funny, and <v Speaker 2>I was very confused. <v Speaker 6>This is a dark room where he talked to boring people. <v Speaker 1>That was the thing. <v Speaker 5>That Ken Work came on. He was he was pretty funny. <v Speaker 5>Actually he was fine compared to Tom Snyder. I could <v Speaker 5>so do that. <v Speaker 1>If I, okay, Gang, if I wind up moving to <v Speaker 1>l A, I'm just gonna rent out a shitty the <v Speaker 1>shittiest little closet studio possible, and we're just gonna invite <v Speaker 1>whoever wants to come, and. <v Speaker 6>The cigarettes too. <v Speaker 1>I could be miss. <v Speaker 3>Eve better. <v Speaker 4>You speaking his language, and then they roulette. Yeah, Pokemon cards. <v Speaker 6>Tom Schnyder would not shut the fuck up about Pokemon cards. <v Speaker 1>It's like you guys are reading off of a list <v Speaker 1>of my favorite things. Tom Snyder Pokemon cards. I don't <v Speaker 1>know who Tom Snyder smoking overalls, don't. <v Speaker 3>We're just standing there, gin there. I miss the robot <v Speaker 3>host of me to Craig Ferguson. <v Speaker 2>He was a gay robot and that was a representation <v Speaker 2>we need ever spelled that way of a g I'm sorry. <v Speaker 3>You know what. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, maybe we'll maybe we'll compile lists later. But speaking <v Speaker 1>about lists, Dan Riker, you came to us early this <v Speaker 1>morning because you got a new magazine. Please please please <v Speaker 1>describe the thought process. <v Speaker 5>Yes, I have not told you the plan for this list. <v Speaker 5>I only told you I want to have a blank <v Speaker 5>list of fifty entries, and I want to see if <v Speaker 5>we can just kind of rapid fire how many of <v Speaker 5>these we can name. I just the time and place <v Speaker 5>of this magazine, and it makes me very interested. The <v Speaker 5>video game history Foundation. This is not an ad. I <v Speaker 5>pay for this every month and I have for years. <v Speaker 5>They do a vintage magazine kind of blind box thing, <v Speaker 5>so every month you get like an old DGM or <v Speaker 5>Game Pro or you know whatever. <v Speaker 1>You can get some. <v Speaker 2>Computer Gaming World yesterday. So I was very excited because <v Speaker 2>I've never read one of those, only heard good things <v Speaker 2>about it. <v Speaker 1>It's a good thing. Yeah. <v Speaker 5>So I got mine yesterday and it was from October <v Speaker 5>two thousand and one, and it is a PSN is <v Speaker 5>a issue number fifty of PSN, and that's the top here. <v Speaker 1>It is a least for. <v Speaker 6>From SSX, which I showed up to. <v Speaker 5>Banka pointed about what I remember crappy the face looks <v Speaker 5>and then lovingly drawn breast like just the marks and everything. <v Speaker 3>The lips and the tits, and you're, guest, wait, that's <v Speaker 3>that's snowboarding. <v Speaker 6>This is the snowboarding game, Beckler. <v Speaker 4>Yes, I know, I don't remember that character anyway, they do, <v Speaker 4>never mind. <v Speaker 5>So what fascinates me about this is for the fiftieth <v Speaker 5>issue of PSM. You can see the seal is not broken. <v Speaker 5>I have not opened it yet, so I don't know anything. <v Speaker 5>They list the fifty best PlayStation games ever as of <v Speaker 5>year two thousand and one one, so we're so we're <v Speaker 5>like a year into and keep in mind that probably <v Speaker 5>like got finalized and sent to the printers in like <v Speaker 5>August or whatever. So that means there was a lot <v Speaker 5>of stuff in that first year PS two that they're <v Speaker 5>like kind of a week first year and then like <v Speaker 5>that holiday season. I feel like it was like GTA three, <v Speaker 5>Middle Year, Solid two, Final, Fantasy ten, like all these <v Speaker 5>huge ones. <v Speaker 6>So I am so curious. <v Speaker 5>I mean, this would basically be like from the first <v Speaker 5>PlayStation launch to the first year of the PS two, <v Speaker 5>Like what would the top fifty games be? <v Speaker 6>So, Jane, you've got a list. Can the folks at <v Speaker 6>home see that? <v Speaker 1>Yes, they should be able to find the list? <v Speaker 2>And Jim, why don't you like call us out one <v Speaker 2>by one and then Dan, you'll gill check and then <v Speaker 2>we'll go to the next person. <v Speaker 1>Does that sound like the best way to do this? Yeah, <v Speaker 1>I'm thinking quick, look, yeah, well let's do let's let's <v Speaker 1>go around the horn. I'll call you all out. Let's <v Speaker 1>do two games each person. <v Speaker 5>And don't do me because I'll be checking this and <v Speaker 5>Janie'll go out the list and now let's try to <v Speaker 5>get the top ten. <v Speaker 3>First, guys, let's try to like nail the top ten. <v Speaker 5>They do separate it from the truly tantalizing ten and <v Speaker 5>the tremendous twenty five and then the top fifty. So <v Speaker 5>and I'll get the truly tantalizing ten. <v Speaker 1>Okay. And again, Dan, this is the best, the top the. <v Speaker 5>Best PlayStation games ever. This is PSX, the magazine PSM PSM. Okay, <v Speaker 5>is that imagine or was that future? <v Speaker 1>Who made this? Is Davis? <v Speaker 6>I don't see right now, I'm gonna lose, Okay. <v Speaker 3>Jeff, Jeff knows the different leanings of those magazines a <v Speaker 3>little bit of. <v Speaker 2>And this is it's not pouring, Dan, you can just <v Speaker 2>Yeahka just tells you to start though. <v Speaker 5>Okay, Oh, this is oh cool. <v Speaker 6>Imagine Bill don hughes On here yep, yep, yep. <v Speaker 1>Okay. And this is according to PSM magazine, right, yes, got. <v Speaker 2>October twenty He said it's the company that would was <v Speaker 2>starting I g in at this time. <v Speaker 1>Yes, okay, okay, all right, let's start with mister Minati. Okay. <v Speaker 3>Uh, I'm going to suggest Metal Gear Solid. <v Speaker 6>Metal Solid is the number one PlayStation game of all time. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, okay, would also like to suggest a final Fantasy seven. <v Speaker 5>Final Fantasy seven is the twelfth greatest PlayStation. <v Speaker 2>Wow, I thought that would be in the top ten. <v Speaker 6>I can guess as well. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, okay, yes, one, yes, one, Okay, mister backlar. <v Speaker 4>Uh. <v Speaker 5>Crash Bandicoot all right, crash Bandicoot is maybe you can <v Speaker 5>give me both at the same time. So as I'm scanning, <v Speaker 5>I can and Silent Hill okay, crash Bandicoot and Silent Hill. <v Speaker 5>Silent Hill is the fifteenth best PlayStation game of all times. <v Speaker 5>Pretty high for so Hill one before Hill two though, <v Speaker 5>singing crash Bandy there's okay, hang on, I. <v Speaker 3>Wonder if they might put do the sequels higher than <v Speaker 3>the original. <v Speaker 5>You know, I'm scanning. I'm scanning. I've looked at all <v Speaker 5>of them. I'm just seeing if I missed anything. <v Speaker 1>It's already. <v Speaker 6>I mean, do any of them right, let's just do <v Speaker 6>that way, okay? <v Speaker 3>Yeah. <v Speaker 5>Crash Bandicoot Warped is the tenth best place station. Crash <v Speaker 5>Team Racing is the twenty eighth best PlayStation. <v Speaker 1>Oh you got two? What number DAN for CTR? <v Speaker 5>CTR is twenty eight? So we'll go buy those rules too. <v Speaker 5>So if if you say like a series or whatever. <v Speaker 5>I'll just go ahead and going forward. <v Speaker 3>Okay, Okay, okay, mister Grubb, well wait a second. He <v Speaker 3>wanted to look right now for the other Final Fantasy <v Speaker 3>because I feel like a nine and the. <v Speaker 1>Should just do that. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, he's showing up thereats. <v Speaker 6>Tactics is nineteen. <v Speaker 1>Oh, Tactics made it. <v Speaker 3>That's great, So. <v Speaker 5>Tactics at nineteen. Final Fantasy eight is number twenty one. <v Speaker 3>W this was this was before and nine was reconsidered <v Speaker 3>and is everybody's favorite back then. I think no hard Nope. <v Speaker 6>Final Fantsay nine is the sixth The best PlayStation is. <v Speaker 1>A good list. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, but it kind of I feel like Roger Burt <v Speaker 2>Show was writing for this magazine. <v Speaker 3>He was a huge ARPG guy. He probably would have <v Speaker 3>been right there. <v Speaker 2>Okay, then let's go with I'll just say the specific <v Speaker 2>ones I'm thinking of, but you can check the whole <v Speaker 2>thing Resident Evil too. <v Speaker 6>That is the fourth best PlayStation game. <v Speaker 1>Okay, that sounds right. Okay. <v Speaker 2>Now I'm like split between Tony Hawk or Castlevania simply <v Speaker 2>of the Night. I'm gonna go for Castlevania Symphony of <v Speaker 2>the Night because I think I think I think it <v Speaker 2>was being real reprised right in this moment. <v Speaker 1>Is the third best. Yeah, there we go, there we go. <v Speaker 1>All right, Okay, Dan, what about uh I guess any <v Speaker 1>twisted Metal game? Oh, that'd be way up there on <v Speaker 1>mine the twenties. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, Black isn't out yet, so. <v Speaker 6>Folks, I don't see a twisted Metal game on this. <v Speaker 1>I don't forget. <v Speaker 3>At this point, we had like just about three and <v Speaker 3>four people had soured on the series. <v Speaker 5>But the Middle Black game out that summer, which I <v Speaker 5>think would have been for that summer. Oh you know <v Speaker 5>what this does say PS one all time. It did <v Speaker 5>not say that. It just has PlayStation up here. But <v Speaker 5>this is just PS one. <v Speaker 1>Yeah I figured twist but yeah, okay, gotcha, Okay, second one. Gosh, <v Speaker 1>if they had tactics on here. I'm gonna take another <v Speaker 1>shot in the dark for other RPG the PS one, Dan, <v Speaker 1>show me legend of the Dragoon. <v Speaker 6>Legend of Dragoon. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, it could be there, could be there. <v Speaker 6>I'm looking, I'm looking, I'm looking. <v Speaker 1>It is the fortieth best place, okay, job, all right, <v Speaker 1>all right, we got there. Legend of Dragoon might be <v Speaker 1>Mikey back to you. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, definitely give me a grint charisma too. <v Speaker 6>Ah, good choice, let's go. And you're looking at the chat. <v Speaker 3>I'm looking look at the chat. Look, I know my <v Speaker 3>PS one and then some of the Uh, here's a <v Speaker 3>series we haven't said yet. Yeah, I know, but I <v Speaker 3>think I'm going to go with a parasite Eve. <v Speaker 5>Okay, Oh, interesting choice here, Wow, folks, Parasite Eve did <v Speaker 5>not make the list. <v Speaker 1>I don't know. <v Speaker 3>I don't know if there's fifty better P one games <v Speaker 3>and pairs? <v Speaker 1>But maybe do we it was my turn? Did we <v Speaker 1>not get the number two? No, you do not, so <v Speaker 1>we did. <v Speaker 3>Go ahead. <v Speaker 5>Let me give you resideval because we already did mention <v Speaker 5>the resideval two. So three is number twenty nine? <v Speaker 1>Right? <v Speaker 3>And then four wasn't on it? <v Speaker 1>Four? <v Speaker 2>And to be fair, I forgot we said right, that <v Speaker 2>was the big franchise I was thinking about. <v Speaker 1>Ye, yes you did. Yeah, I know. Listen, I'm a <v Speaker 1>bad person. <v Speaker 4>I think number two is probably it could be Tony Hawk. <v Speaker 1>It has to be, right, doesn't. <v Speaker 5>I think there's a pro skater two is gonna be <v Speaker 5>Skater two is number nine? Okay, Okay, I feel like <v Speaker 5>we can go to like a group if you just <v Speaker 5>want to call him out. <v Speaker 1>You know. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, and then my other one was going to be <v Speaker 4>snipher and filter. <v Speaker 6>Oh interest filter. Good choice is gotta be on here, right? <v Speaker 3>That was a big one, kind of if it's not there, <v Speaker 3>just you know, throwing tech. <v Speaker 6>And three hang on real quick, resident Evil. The first <v Speaker 6>one is number forty two. <v Speaker 3>That makes sense. <v Speaker 5>Oh wow, there's got to be a tech and three <v Speaker 5>up there. I don't see siphon filter. I do not <v Speaker 5>see sicher filter. Nope, where's taking three? Number eleven? <v Speaker 3>I know, all right, I know a spiral game. <v Speaker 1>I think the original spiral of the Dragon beable. <v Speaker 6>I mean, Revenge Year Dragon is number twenty two. <v Speaker 1>Okay, oh yeah, is that the. <v Speaker 6>More spir Oh uh, that's the only spiral. <v Speaker 1>Okay? What was that one vagrant story? I don't see. <v Speaker 1>They don't know really, dude. <v Speaker 3>It has been like it would have been. <v Speaker 1>Kind of soon for that. Oh okay, I have too <v Speaker 1>go akay uh. <v Speaker 6>PaRappa Parapa is number seventeen. <v Speaker 3>Okay, okay, my two were wipeout real quick. <v Speaker 6>I do want to say I'll count Jammer as part <v Speaker 6>of the Parapa series. That's number sixteen. <v Speaker 1>Okay. <v Speaker 6>Greb comes in with wipeout, which is no, no. <v Speaker 1>That was Backler. <v Speaker 5>Yes, sorry, get you guys mixed up. Fourteen is wipeout <v Speaker 5>xl okay. <v Speaker 3>And then my other one was soul Reaver. <v Speaker 5>Oh wait, I'm sorry, siphon filter is on here. It <v Speaker 5>was number thirty six. Sorry, okay, soul Reaver Legacy of Kine. <v Speaker 3>No, get the frick out of here. <v Speaker 6>Alright, let's's top ten. Nope, it's not. <v Speaker 1>Let's uh, let's stick to the taking turns just because <v Speaker 1>we're stepping on each other. But g drop three games. Okay, <v Speaker 1>all right, let's see here. <v Speaker 2>I'm trying to like think outside the box that number <v Speaker 2>two to be I know, turmb Raider two. <v Speaker 6>Look at the series you would think, so. <v Speaker 1>I just don't. <v Speaker 2>To me, it's like I could be weird for even <v Speaker 2>by Dan for them to still be like kind of <v Speaker 2>glazing tum Raider. <v Speaker 5>But number thirty seven is tomb Raider. The last revelation <v Speaker 5>that was three or four? <v Speaker 1>No, three like four four four. <v Speaker 6>Mm hm four is the only tomb Raider on this list. <v Speaker 6>That's weird. <v Speaker 3>I think I have a good one. <v Speaker 1>Hang on, let me, let's let me do a couple. Well, no, <v Speaker 1>you have a good one. <v Speaker 3>Could just go that's fine because this guy likes RPGs. <v Speaker 1>I'm thinking maybe Zeno Gears is this. <v Speaker 5>Yeah, that was the definite staff list. I would imagine <v Speaker 5>Zeno Gears is number twenty. <v Speaker 1>Okay, Oh, sorry, okay. <v Speaker 3>I thought I thought my confidence was unfounded. A Kronocross <v Speaker 3>thirty three. Oh, okay, there's a lot more RPGs here <v Speaker 3>than I thought. <v Speaker 1>Third, Hey, the I G the Imagine staff are rpg weird, <v Speaker 1>Yes for sure. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, if you are a PS one magazine, you better <v Speaker 3>like j RPGs. <v Speaker 6>Actually, there are still three from the top ten that <v Speaker 6>are not. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, this is that's driving me crazy. We are so <v Speaker 2>vagrant pars legend is the wild. <v Speaker 5>Arms, Yeah, wild quite a while. There's another real just <v Speaker 5>doesn't check wild Arms. <v Speaker 6>No wild Arms. <v Speaker 3>There's a real sick o jerap. We have may sweak <v Speaker 3>it in two. <v Speaker 1>Oh that's a good one. <v Speaker 3>It might not have been like it might not have <v Speaker 3>risen to that cult status at this point yet though. <v Speaker 6>Uh that is number thirteen. <v Speaker 1>Okay okay. Oh, is there is there a sports game <v Speaker 1>like a Big One? Yeah? <v Speaker 6>Game Day Madden O two for the PS one is eighteen. <v Speaker 3>It's weird. <v Speaker 6>I definitely play the m POS two. <v Speaker 1>Weird Driver oh oh yeah, very good choice. <v Speaker 3>That's gotta be there. Oh yeah, barely Jesus. <v Speaker 1>It does seem like in general they're doing like one <v Speaker 1>entry per series. Okay. <v Speaker 5>Oh they're saying if games of a series are different enough, <v Speaker 5>more than one may appear on the list. <v Speaker 6>But they're saying, like with like tech and they just <v Speaker 6>took one. <v Speaker 2>Okay, yeah, this one did just show up and chat. <v Speaker 2>I did just glance, but I was thinking this one. <v Speaker 1>Let's can we just check ape escape? <v Speaker 3>That's just wondering. <v Speaker 2>I was one of that number two, number two. That's <v Speaker 2>pretty high. Yeah, we still have a seven and eight. <v Speaker 3>Yeah are they Ridge racer Type four freaks? <v Speaker 1>Yeah, that's that's a good one. <v Speaker 3>Number eight one a good list, good list, this list. <v Speaker 1>That was number yeah, that's my favorite number. <v Speaker 3>Oh my god. <v Speaker 1>Okay, Mikey, back to you. Give me two more stretches. <v Speaker 3>Are type four? Okay, back to me two more. It <v Speaker 3>is it is getting to a point where, boy, those <v Speaker 3>are some really big impactful ones. <v Speaker 5>That we have up there, and at a certain point <v Speaker 5>when you went throw on the towel, I'm just gonna <v Speaker 5>read it from the bottom up. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I don't know. <v Speaker 3>One just just just to just pipe up at this <v Speaker 3>time because yeah, now I'm just trying. <v Speaker 1>Wait. Abes Odyssey. Oh good call, okay, I don't think so, <v Speaker 1>I got one before we go to uh just made <v Speaker 1>I got more, all right? Was AME's Odyssey on the <v Speaker 1>top fifty? Dan World? Oh wow? Okay, this has to <v Speaker 1>be on there based off of like the other games <v Speaker 1>on there, guys, bless thee. <v Speaker 3>I bet game it's not though. That makes me think <v Speaker 3>of another game that should be on. <v Speaker 5>It, which, okay, guys, is not. But I think Mike <v Speaker 5>is about to guess number forty four. <v Speaker 1>I hander, yes, I thought. <v Speaker 3>Games games that are related except their names are exactly <v Speaker 3>the same to me. <v Speaker 1>Where rival schools? Dan did? How about Bashido Blade? <v Speaker 6>Blade is number fifty? No rival schools, No rival schools? <v Speaker 1>But any other any other ones that we want to Knowah? <v Speaker 6>Yes, I saw that earlier. That is number twenty four. <v Speaker 3>Okay, good showing for Clinoa there. I want to look <v Speaker 3>at my collection real quick. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, okay, let's uh, let's get one or two more <v Speaker 1>from everyone and then let's just get through the list. <v Speaker 3>Was there a Spider Man? <v Speaker 1>They were not bad? <v Speaker 6>Those are the never soft ones. I don't think that's <v Speaker 6>on here. <v Speaker 3>No, yeah, I'm probably not gonna make him. I liked <v Speaker 3>that game a lot. Actually, yeah, I love that. I <v Speaker 3>did look at chat. <v Speaker 1>At this point. <v Speaker 3>But Star Ocean two. <v Speaker 1>Did that make it? No, it didn't know. What they got to four? Yeah, <v Speaker 1>I didn't even know they ever. <v Speaker 3>Number two wait above Resident Evil one, saying yep. <v Speaker 5>There's one above Resident Evil one that is Infogrames June <v Speaker 5>two thousand and one alone in the Dark four. <v Speaker 1>Okay, okay, hold on, I love soul Blade, but Einhander <v Speaker 1>above Soul Blade. <v Speaker 6>That's correct. <v Speaker 3>Oh Okayander, I could see Ironhander above, So maybe top ten, <v Speaker 3>chen absolutely, yeah, I don't know about guys. <v Speaker 1>No, If who is guys, it'd be top fifteen, okay, <v Speaker 1>Dan hit me with thirty eight and thirty or thirty nine. <v Speaker 5>Thirty eight, thirty nine is Colin mc ray rally, oh <v Speaker 5>of course, and thirty eight is ray Man two. <v Speaker 1>Oh okay, I never. <v Speaker 3>Think ray Man, I never think that's as one game. <v Speaker 1>Yeah or og raymn for sure. Dan, thirty five, thirty <v Speaker 1>four please. <v Speaker 6>Thirty five is Breath of Fire four? <v Speaker 1>Yeah it could have gone. Okay, that's Roger Burchill. Definitely <v Speaker 1>we worked on this list. <v Speaker 6>It's a thirty four. Thirty four is Dino Crisis. <v Speaker 3>Oh okay, we missed that's so wait Dino Crisis, but <v Speaker 3>no Parasite Eve. <v Speaker 2>Okay, yeah, a little a little strange or vagan sorry. <v Speaker 1>Okay, okay, Dan hit me with thirty two, thirty one <v Speaker 1>and thirty thirty two is Ace Combat two. She should <v Speaker 1>have got at Yes, yeah, that's a great game. Yep, <v Speaker 1>got it. <v Speaker 5>Thirty one one Grandia, Oh okay, in thirty how did <v Speaker 5>you guys miss this? <v Speaker 1>Roll Cage Stage two? The hell is that? <v Speaker 3>What that? <v Speaker 1>It's PlayStation game of all time? Jan I retire. <v Speaker 3>You're right, this is Champ is better than Parasite Eve. <v Speaker 3>I don't even know what you just said. <v Speaker 5>Old Cage stage two number Cage's extreame g but bat <v Speaker 5>when your cover looks like that, you get number thirty <v Speaker 5>is Roll Cage Stage two. <v Speaker 1>This is not what I thought it was. Gonna game <v Speaker 1>actually looks pretty al right, okay, keep going alright, left <v Speaker 1>that we haven't picked, okay, Dan, hit me with twenty seven, <v Speaker 1>twenty six and twenty five. <v Speaker 6>Twenty seven is FEEFA two thousand and one okay, okay, <v Speaker 6>twenty six is need for Speed three Hot Pursuit okay, speed? <v Speaker 1>And what was next? <v Speaker 6>Five five Medal of Honor two. <v Speaker 5>Underground alright, twenty three that would be Super puzzle Fighter too, Okay, Wow, cool, okay, <v Speaker 5>there's only one left, all right, number seven, Dan, I <v Speaker 5>feel like Mikey should have got this out of all <v Speaker 5>of us. <v Speaker 3>It wasn't Is it a Mega Man X four or something? <v Speaker 6>Street Fighter Alpha three? <v Speaker 3>Okay, I was wondering, Yeah, okay, yeah, probably should have. Yeah, <v Speaker 3>we should have said street Fighter Also, X four should <v Speaker 3>be on this list. <v Speaker 1>Okay, it's the list. I agree. No Legends weird. <v Speaker 3>No Legends was not super well liked that at that time. Honestly, <v Speaker 3>this came. <v Speaker 6>Out when October two thousand and one, which. <v Speaker 4>Means they probably rode it in May. It was, right, yeah, right, <v Speaker 4>and then nine eleven happened, sure of course. <v Speaker 5>Yeah, but it was pretty comprehensive of the whole PlayStation <v Speaker 5>one era outside of. <v Speaker 6>Like the sports games they released until like oh five <v Speaker 6>or whatever. <v Speaker 1>So yeah, it's an interesting list for sure. <v Speaker 5>Apes of two is crazy to me would have been <v Speaker 5>metal Gear in Final Fantasy seven, and so for f <v Speaker 5>F seven to be down at twelve is kind of crazy. <v Speaker 3>That they are right that Night's better than it. I <v Speaker 3>just I usually whom that seven is going to be <v Speaker 3>put higher than that? I like, Yeah, I'm impressed, like <v Speaker 3>Register Type four being at number eight, That's that's right, <v Speaker 3>RESI Evil two of four, that's right, Cynthy and Night <v Speaker 3>at three, that's right. There's nothing too crazy. There's some <v Speaker 3>admissions that seem a little whild to be like a <v Speaker 3>parasite of like a vagrant. <v Speaker 6>Story alone of Dark four being above Resniva one is <v Speaker 6>pretty insane. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, that's bizarre. Yeah, yeah. I do like seeing how <v Speaker 1>high the O G Silent Hill is on this list though, <v Speaker 1>So that's that's cool. Yeah yeah, yeah, interesting. <v Speaker 6>List for sure, which is you know, kind of what <v Speaker 6>you go for when you make these. <v Speaker 1>No jet Moto I'm kind of surprised by, but it's <v Speaker 1>almost likely. You're right. <v Speaker 5>Yeah, it was an early when I think like early <v Speaker 5>PlayStation one, I think of single track. I think of <v Speaker 5>you know, Warhawk, Twisted Middle one, Twist Middle two and <v Speaker 5>Jet Moto, and like Jet Moto pretty quickly. It might <v Speaker 5>have been around the same kid the Twisted Metal went <v Speaker 5>Downhill with the nine eighty nine changeover. But yeah, people <v Speaker 5>forgot about Jet Modo pretty quick. <v Speaker 1>Yep, okay, okay, that's right, hex Proof. It's an atrocity <v Speaker 1>that there are no golf games on hill. What the <v Speaker 1>well the best ball game was on the Saturn. It's <v Speaker 1>main competitor, it's made competitors. Yeah, all right, folks, you <v Speaker 1>know with old games, let's uh, let's talk about stuff <v Speaker 1>we've been playing. I don't like good games, no, I know, <v Speaker 1>I know, I know. Now I'm I can't believe I'm <v Speaker 1>looking up how to play roll Cage Stage two, remember. <v Speaker 6>And it was made by Midway, it says, So it's <v Speaker 6>like that checking out. I'm kind of curious. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, damn. <v Speaker 2>You can't play old games on your own time, though, <v Speaker 2>You got to play new games to do your job here. <v Speaker 2>All right, that's good, that's clearly, that's good. <v Speaker 6>That's a joke for me, man. <v Speaker 1>Now, I just want to go play a bunch of JRPGs. <v Speaker 1>Thanks a lot Gang good. They're very good. I think <v Speaker 1>that's why Press the Fire for is good. It's overrated, <v Speaker 1>little over yeah, a little overrated. All right, we got <v Speaker 1>a jar with the games here, So let's start with <v Speaker 1>a game that just that someone finished and they said <v Speaker 1>they have a note here, real quick, mister backl Are <v Speaker 1>you finished Kronos? <v Speaker 3>Oh? Yeah, I finished. I don't want to take a <v Speaker 3>lot of time talking about it. I finished Kronos. <v Speaker 4>I then had to watch a YouTube summary of the <v Speaker 4>story because it is almost unfollowing. Yeah, yeah, I wish, <v Speaker 4>I wish. I don't know, I can't. Maybe this is <v Speaker 4>a larger issue of is can Jeff just simply not <v Speaker 4>pay attention to some stories and games anymore? <v Speaker 3>I don't know. <v Speaker 4>I feel like I'm sort of struggling with that a <v Speaker 4>little bit. Uh in Silent Hill f as well. <v Speaker 3>I don't know. <v Speaker 4>We could talk more about that in a second. But <v Speaker 4>I did finish Kronos, and I and I am mostly <v Speaker 4>happy with it. I do encourage people to play it now. <v Speaker 4>It is a very scary, very spooky game that is <v Speaker 4>very ambitious with its storytelling. <v Speaker 3>But believe me, I did it. <v Speaker 4>I didn't think I could do it, So thank you <v Speaker 4>to all the people who said I could You allowed. <v Speaker 3>Me to persevere and see it through and that means <v Speaker 3>a great deal to me, and for that, I thank you. <v Speaker 1>Okay, good the question for you? <v Speaker 2>Yes, And you're playing this and Silent Hill F. And <v Speaker 2>I know you're gonna talk about that in a second. <v Speaker 2>But if I was gonna pick one of these to <v Speaker 2>play for October, which one would you recommend? <v Speaker 4>At this I think I think the better complete package <v Speaker 4>is Silent Hill F. <v Speaker 1>Okay. <v Speaker 2>It's also like eight to ten hours, which sounds real <v Speaker 2>good to me right here after playing so many games <v Speaker 2>that I'm like twenty plus hours into. <v Speaker 4>And we could just parlay this right into the F <v Speaker 4>conversation if you don't mind, Jen, I think go from's <v Speaker 4>talking to a super eyepatch. Well, I'm talking to John <v Speaker 4>about Silent Hill F and He's like, oh, yeah, you <v Speaker 4>got to play it four times? And I was just like, <v Speaker 4>who the fuck are you that's gonna play Silent Hill <v Speaker 4>F four times to see all these different endings. <v Speaker 3>I don't know. <v Speaker 4>I don't understand how you can do that. I'm like, <v Speaker 4>don't you have a video to make about Garfield or something? <v Speaker 4>Like you're gonna tell me, you can play Silent Hill. <v Speaker 1>F yeah, Simpsons right now, we gotta know. <v Speaker 4>I'm like, please, I need you to make videos and <v Speaker 4>not play this game eleven times? <v Speaker 2>So uh in your automatic Like is it automic? <v Speaker 3>No, it's even like cause Naro not has the different endings, <v Speaker 3>but it's really kind of a linear progression through the right. <v Speaker 3>It's like Silent Hill too, where depending on your choices <v Speaker 3>you get different ending and like the people who really <v Speaker 3>like the series, they're like, well, I gotta see all them. <v Speaker 3>I'm gonna I'm gonna watch them on YouTube, is what <v Speaker 3>I'm gonna do. <v Speaker 2>I watch I just watch them on YouTube and get <v Speaker 2>the same effect, is what I'm saying. <v Speaker 4>I just, you know, there's if there's a lot of <v Speaker 4>like for me, you do you guys, what do you <v Speaker 4>call it? When you're just like I don't know, maybe <v Speaker 4>this is exclusive to me. Like there's the there's this <v Speaker 4>thing I have where I'm just like map slopping where <v Speaker 4>I'm just like constantly looking at the map like sure <v Speaker 4>you know, I'm like in this labyrinthinian area and I'm just. <v Speaker 3>Sort of like, whereas what's you always left? <v Speaker 1>Where's left? <v Speaker 3>Like come left? <v Speaker 4>Where am I facing where's my arrow facing? <v Speaker 1>I have to go up? Okay, I'm you know, like <v Speaker 1>getting old Becklow. I have the same thing because it's <v Speaker 1>always been that for me. <v Speaker 3>That's always been that for me with these games. Uh, <v Speaker 3>it's like, you know, I don't know. <v Speaker 4>It's like it's like if you have like Google Maps <v Speaker 4>in your car and you're not doing north, You're not <v Speaker 4>doing like up is always up right. That's obviously not <v Speaker 4>always know, but like I need that. I need that <v Speaker 4>sort of constant positioning awareness to show me up right. <v Speaker 4>Like that's how I coordinate myself, That's how I yeah, right, <v Speaker 4>exactly what's up? <v Speaker 3>Just everyone's chat saying apparently like the new game plus <v Speaker 3>stuff is more than just a different ending. So I <v Speaker 3>guess I bet it's very interesting to play the game <v Speaker 3>more than once. You need to to feel like you <v Speaker 3>got feel experience a full experience there. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, I mean, I look, I'm happy to I'm happy <v Speaker 4>to have it. I'm happy that the value is there, <v Speaker 4>I'm happy that the replayability is there. I'm not I'm <v Speaker 4>never gonna like look that across in the face, but <v Speaker 4>it's like, I I can't do that with your game, <v Speaker 4>especially in such a densely. <v Speaker 3>Packed fifteen games. I need to do baby Steps. <v Speaker 4>I haven't even done anything outside of that unfinished baby steps. <v Speaker 3>Are you kidding me? You're the baby Yeah, I gotta <v Speaker 3>take some steps. <v Speaker 1>Anyway. <v Speaker 4>I really do like Silent Hill. I think it is <v Speaker 4>is really good. Say for like maybe one or two <v Speaker 4>areas where I'm just like, all right, we this is <v Speaker 4>maybe a little repetitive, but yeah, I'm super into. <v Speaker 3>What do you What do you think, Mike? Yeah, yeah, <v Speaker 3>I checked out maybe the first three hours or so <v Speaker 3>and was definitely enjoying myself. <v Speaker 1>I love just the setting. <v Speaker 3>Anytime something is said in that very rural kind of Japan, <v Speaker 3>which for me is basically just this persona flour in <v Speaker 3>my neighbor totoro. <v Speaker 1>Those are the three things I associate to say. <v Speaker 3>But I always really like it. It's a very interesting <v Speaker 3>kind of vibe and aesthetic. But yeah, I see people <v Speaker 3>talk about the combat and some people complain about it. <v Speaker 3>I love it all specifically because it's kind of clunky <v Speaker 3>and not sophisticated, just like how it should feel for <v Speaker 3>just some you know Japanese schoolgirl who's wielding a pipe. <v Speaker 1>Right, you know, it's not dark souls, it's not some <v Speaker 1>you know, intense action game. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, don't you off combos, you know what I mean, Like. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, she's just kind of swinging shit the kids. <v Speaker 3>It's just a little kid. But even though there is <v Speaker 3>still like good mechanics to it and good kind of <v Speaker 3>game logic and reasoning there without it necessarily devolving to <v Speaker 3>just oh it's dark souls or you know, oh it's <v Speaker 3>it's this or that. I was actually surprised how good, <v Speaker 3>Like I did like a big boss fight right where <v Speaker 3>I just actually had a whole boss encounter situation going on. <v Speaker 3>There are some fun gimmicks, especially with him disappearing and <v Speaker 3>kind of reappearing somewhere. I had to like listen for <v Speaker 3>him and find him and hit him before he got <v Speaker 3>off some attack. I was like, jeez, this is a <v Speaker 3>pretty good boss fight, which, you know, sound Hill has <v Speaker 3>actually not been bad at that. The sound Hill two <v Speaker 3>roommake had some good ones too, but sometimes you don't <v Speaker 3>necessarily associate Silent Hill with bosses. Having a good experience <v Speaker 3>there was nice. But yeah, I'm just kind of I'm <v Speaker 3>loving the whole sort of vibe, the whole setup, The <v Speaker 3>story is intriguing, you know, I think the themes skirt <v Speaker 3>a fine line of being pretty obvious or what they are, <v Speaker 3>but not feeling spoon fed at the same time. <v Speaker 1>So all of that is good. <v Speaker 3>I'm excited someone play more. It feels like a perfect <v Speaker 3>little October game. I don't mean little disparagingly, but you know, <v Speaker 3>it's a great game for this season. <v Speaker 1>I will say this may be spoilers for some people, <v Speaker 1>but I'll just keep it as vague as possible. And <v Speaker 1>for folks that have already completed Silent Hill f you <v Speaker 1>will be well aware that this game actually shares a <v Speaker 1>lot with Sonic Unleashed. And that's all I'm gonna say <v Speaker 1>about that. <v Speaker 3>I can't play it now. <v Speaker 1>You just ruined it. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, that was a spoiler the entire experience for me. <v Speaker 1>I don't know. If you put that on the back <v Speaker 1>of the box, you know. Yeah, that's good. <v Speaker 2>People won't buy it. They're like, why do I even <v Speaker 2>need to play it? <v Speaker 1>Now? <v Speaker 3>That's what a detour? <v Speaker 1>Is that? The way with the wear hoog? Yeah, Jeff <v Speaker 1>Grubb speaking about beating games, You're not the backlar. Isn't <v Speaker 1>the only Jeff finishing games? You conquered baby Steps? Yeah <v Speaker 1>this morning? <v Speaker 2>Actually, so I had spent several streams in the morning <v Speaker 2>here on Giant Bomb, trying to conquered the Man Breaker, <v Speaker 2>which is this big mountain where they they give you <v Speaker 2>the option to go up the stairs, and that was <v Speaker 2>a really powerful, awesome thing to do, and it was <v Speaker 2>it was a lot of fun to actually get through there. <v Speaker 2>And then there's a little bit more after that. There's <v Speaker 2>apparently a couple paths you can go to get up <v Speaker 2>to this final bit of the mountain. But the option <v Speaker 2>I found myself taking without what even knowing was an option, <v Speaker 2>It just felt like the way to go was this <v Speaker 2>crash train. It's an uncharted two and it's got a <v Speaker 2>bunch of luggage over the place and you got to <v Speaker 2>get your foot in on there. But because it's because <v Speaker 2>you're inside and it's at a slant, it like really <v Speaker 2>is disorienting because you just feel like, okay, am I <v Speaker 2>standing upright and it's like, oh no, I'm going to <v Speaker 2>lean to the left here. That was a lot of <v Speaker 2>fun to get through, although kind of a little bit <v Speaker 2>child's play after the Man Breaker, which was welcome. After that, <v Speaker 2>there's just like a small little snow section. A guy <v Speaker 2>gets trapped under a boulder in a cave and stuff <v Speaker 2>like that, I get to talk to him. But yeah, <v Speaker 2>you eventually get up this mountain and you go into <v Speaker 2>a house and you're one of the people that you've <v Speaker 2>been there talking to the whole time, is in this <v Speaker 2>house cabin, and it just has this such a sweet <v Speaker 2>ending of Nate is this character that you're playing as, <v Speaker 2>and every conversation he has, he's just trying to get <v Speaker 2>out of it. He doesn't want to bother anyone. He <v Speaker 2>doesn't feel worthy of anyone's time. He doesn't like feel <v Speaker 2>like he's like worthy of any space at all. Actually, <v Speaker 2>and the game ends with you knocking on this cabin <v Speaker 2>door and just being afraid still but kind of you <v Speaker 2>could see he's working up his courage and finally he <v Speaker 2>just asks, Hey, can I come inside? He finally asks <v Speaker 2>for help, and it was a really like moving, powerful <v Speaker 2>moment for this character that just can't get his shit <v Speaker 2>together at all. But you I walked ninety thousand steps. <v Speaker 2>The game told me ninety thousand steps to get to <v Speaker 2>the end of this game, and you know, he did <v Speaker 2>all that. He actually did accomplish all that, he did <v Speaker 2>conquer the Man Breaker, he did get through all these things, <v Speaker 2>and so he kind of is capable, but the thing <v Speaker 2>that was hardest for him was just asking for help <v Speaker 2>and it hit real hard. <v Speaker 1>And so get through that with chat this morning, and <v Speaker 1>I just I love this game. <v Speaker 2>It is so well done and it's it definitely feels <v Speaker 2>like the right way to make one of these right now, <v Speaker 2>where sure it's punishing, but it's not as punishing as <v Speaker 2>something like Getting Over It, where Getting Over It is <v Speaker 2>another Benetfotty game where you're in the pot and you <v Speaker 2>have the hammer and you're swinging around trying to like <v Speaker 2>pull yourself up, and you could fail in that game <v Speaker 2>to the point where you could really do at any moment, <v Speaker 2>can fall all the way back to the beginning. Here, <v Speaker 2>it's like usually you could fall a long way, but <v Speaker 2>it's gonna be to a certain like relative checkpoint. And <v Speaker 2>even when you do that, the game remains funny, It <v Speaker 2>remains fun to play. You always feel like you are <v Speaker 2>kind of learning something, and so it feels like the <v Speaker 2>most broadly appealing one of these that has been made, <v Speaker 2>Like it feels like it's made by people who's done <v Speaker 2>who have done this many times before and have learned <v Speaker 2>a lot of lessons and know now how to deliver <v Speaker 2>on this idea in a way that is fair but <v Speaker 2>also still brutal, in a way that's very, very fun <v Speaker 2>to watch. Yeah, it's a game that should have made <v Speaker 2>me rage a lot more than it did. And I <v Speaker 2>found myself just kind of being like, you know what, <v Speaker 2>I'm ready to try again, and and yeah, it's it's <v Speaker 2>up there for me, I am really impressed with it, <v Speaker 2>really happy with it. <v Speaker 4>How did you find again, I'm only coming from the <v Speaker 4>first time we touched it, but like, how did you <v Speaker 4>find the sort of like understanding of like what you're <v Speaker 4>really meant to do? Because I feel like, for me, <v Speaker 4>you know this game, I have not been able to <v Speaker 4>isolate myself from seeing more, you know, videos about it. <v Speaker 4>Obviously you playing it, how do you feel about how <v Speaker 4>all that was presented and whether or not you think <v Speaker 4>it's a really like satisfying way to be presented with <v Speaker 4>the game? <v Speaker 2>Yeah, so so, yeah, it's it can be discouraging at <v Speaker 2>first because you don't know where you're going and you <v Speaker 2>feel lost. Eventually, though, that very quickly settles into being like, oh, <v Speaker 2>that's part of what's happening here. It's not just that <v Speaker 2>he's bad at walking. He's bad at walking and also <v Speaker 2>doesn't know where to go, and it's like, these these <v Speaker 2>dual factors working against the character are are really the <v Speaker 2>both things to be overcome, and it's like, well, what <v Speaker 2>do you do to solve this? I guess I could <v Speaker 2>try to like I can go look it up, or <v Speaker 2>I could just keep walking forward and see if I <v Speaker 2>eventually figure something out. Now, the game does sort of <v Speaker 2>offer up some interesting ways of making you feel like, Okay, <v Speaker 2>if I do start going forward, even if I might <v Speaker 2>not know if I'm going the right way, maybe I'm <v Speaker 2>going the wrong way. <v Speaker 1>There is a chance. <v Speaker 2>It's not like it's allowsy with this stuff, but there's <v Speaker 2>a chance you're going to run into some cut scene <v Speaker 2>that you wouldn't have seen had you not gone the <v Speaker 2>wrong way, and that's really well done. So there's one <v Speaker 2>early on where I was super lost. There's point in <v Speaker 2>the kind of funny race where both me and snowbike <v Speaker 2>Mic are trying to find out where to go, and <v Speaker 2>we're like neck and neck, and I went to the <v Speaker 2>left and he went to the right, and I was <v Speaker 2>stuck at this place because I didn't see the pathway <v Speaker 2>to the left for a very long time. So I <v Speaker 2>was going around the map and it loops. It's a <v Speaker 2>complete sphere. So you go from you go to one <v Speaker 2>side of the map, you go one more step and <v Speaker 2>now you're on the far left side of the map. <v Speaker 3>You can't tell that. <v Speaker 2>When you're actually in the game, but there's a map <v Speaker 2>later that kind of showed you that's what was happening. <v Speaker 2>I was doing that over and over again, and I <v Speaker 2>got to this like sand cast or this giant sand cast, <v Speaker 2>and I'm like, let me get to the top of this, <v Speaker 2>see if there's anything up there. And the only thing <v Speaker 2>up there was two little naked men who just kind <v Speaker 2>of yelled at me, and I sat on one of <v Speaker 2>them on accident, and it was hilarious. They were all <v Speaker 2>voiced by Bennett Foddy. That's and finding that felt like, oh, <v Speaker 2>it's own reward, and there's a ton of that stuff. <v Speaker 2>There's so many hilarious cut scenes. I think that's the <v Speaker 2>thing the humor for me for a long time. I <v Speaker 2>guess not for a long time. For that first couple <v Speaker 2>of play sessions, I was like, this is funny, but <v Speaker 2>I'm not laughing out loud. It just keeps getting so <v Speaker 2>much more absurd, and you start to realize, oh, they're <v Speaker 2>improving this, and they're kind of just leaving in the <v Speaker 2>rough cuts of them laughing over each other's lines, and <v Speaker 2>it's super endearing. And trying to like not even trying <v Speaker 2>to find the next one of those, but thinking, oh, <v Speaker 2>I might find another one of those as I continue <v Speaker 2>was more than enough to make everything kind of feel <v Speaker 2>worth it. And then occasionally I'll find a cool little <v Speaker 2>puzzle segment where it's like, here is just a little <v Speaker 2>tower that you got to climb to the top of <v Speaker 2>and you'll either get a hat that either does nothing <v Speaker 2>or does something cool, or a fruit he yells about <v Speaker 2>finding a parse simon or whatever it's called, and that's <v Speaker 2>exciting as well. So I think it's like happy to <v Speaker 2>be the game it is, which is you should feel lost, <v Speaker 2>you should feel overwhelmed by every ticking, every step, but <v Speaker 2>it's not so harsh that it's never gonna make you <v Speaker 2>feel like you didn't get a reward. <v Speaker 1>It has that pretty often cool awesome right now. God, <v Speaker 1>I didn't think i'd have to check this out before <v Speaker 1>Game of the Year time, but I guess I got it. <v Speaker 2>It's very much a me game, Like it's not like <v Speaker 2>I'm gonna be out there on the streets trying to <v Speaker 2>hawk this to everybody. But I definitely see a lot <v Speaker 2>of people in chat when I was playing, being like, Hey, <v Speaker 2>I wasn't gonna try this out, and I've been watching <v Speaker 2>you play and it actually won me over, Like watching <v Speaker 2>this game be played, and it's like, I think there's <v Speaker 2>more to this game than like it's open. Critic Score says, <v Speaker 2>it's like, oh, you know, it's not for everybody, but <v Speaker 2>the people who it's four are really gonna like it. <v Speaker 2>It's definitely in this like certain classic games for me, <v Speaker 2>with like Octo Dead, where it's about moving a character <v Speaker 2>in a weird way, but it's telling a lot more <v Speaker 2>about like human nature and about your nature as a <v Speaker 2>player than you might even realize. <v Speaker 1>Fantastic of Fantastic, speaking about overwhelming, I have been enjoying, <v Speaker 1>but I've found Ghost of Yota be very, very overwhelming. Dan, <v Speaker 1>you talked about this a little bit last week on <v Speaker 1>the podcast because the embargo lifted and I had reserved <v Speaker 1>to myself that I wasn't going to check out Ghost <v Speaker 1>of Yota until the holidays, because we've talked a lot <v Speaker 1>about holiday kind of games, and this feels like one <v Speaker 1>you have to really sink your teeth into. And I'll <v Speaker 1>say this up top, I did not like Ghost of Tsushima. <v Speaker 1>Did not click with it at all. I don't quite <v Speaker 1>know why. Maybe I was expecting like different style of combat. <v Speaker 1>Maybe I was looking for a seci row at the time. <v Speaker 1>But something about this and maybe it is God, I <v Speaker 1>really forget her name, but the character that Erica plays, <v Speaker 1>and just like the characterization, I think it just it <v Speaker 1>hits a bit better. Maybe I'm digging the setup to <v Speaker 1>the story. But damn game, pretty game look good. <v Speaker 6>You all game pretty It's really it's unbelievably gorgeous. <v Speaker 5>And like, Jan, how are you finding like the open <v Speaker 5>world because it's got those elements from the first one, <v Speaker 5>with like the wind taking from place to place. But <v Speaker 5>I am finding myself just enjoying that open world a <v Speaker 5>lot more than Sushima. <v Speaker 1>I think that that's what I might be enjoying more. <v Speaker 1>And that's kind of the friction I'm encountering though, is that, <v Speaker 1>like I do enjoy the open world more, but because <v Speaker 1>I'm enjoying the open world more, it's kind of stalling <v Speaker 1>my overall progress in it. Sure, and this game just <v Speaker 1>is full of like the different cinematic styles you can <v Speaker 1>throw the game into. I tried playing it in black <v Speaker 1>and white for a second, but then again, game two <v Speaker 1>pretty to limit yourself to grayscale. Just like the effect <v Speaker 1>that they have with like the Ginka leaves and everything, <v Speaker 1>like as you're like trapesing through the fields. Absolutely gorgeous <v Speaker 1>and I just want to cook every single thing. <v Speaker 6>Also the duels and see how you're blown into the microphone. <v Speaker 1>Yes, yes, uh. And it's kind of a bummer that <v Speaker 1>this game uses the dual sense so well, because what <v Speaker 1>is the last game y'all would even think using duel sense? Yeah, <v Speaker 1>exactly Astro before that, even maybe. <v Speaker 3>The ratchet and clanking, Yeah, maybe ratri Yeah. It's great <v Speaker 3>when games do use it really well because I actually <v Speaker 3>do like a lot of that stuff, even the gimmicky things. <v Speaker 3>But a few people really kind of make good use <v Speaker 3>of it. <v Speaker 6>I mean, Sucker Bronx loved doing that. <v Speaker 5>They did that with the second son I remember the <v Speaker 5>first time I used a PS four track pad was <v Speaker 5>right checking that out, and like they would have things <v Speaker 5>where it's like, oh, swipe up to pull this tank <v Speaker 5>up and then shoot into it, and right, they love <v Speaker 5>using the hardware like, I. <v Speaker 1>Don't have much more to say about a Ghost of <v Speaker 1>Yota than you already covered last week, Dan, because I'm <v Speaker 1>still fairly early in, but like, I don't I can't <v Speaker 1>quite articulate why it is clicking with me more? Can <v Speaker 1>I ask this? Because please? He brings us up and chatting. <v Speaker 1>This was going to be my question. <v Speaker 2>So the first game was very big on hey, we <v Speaker 2>were still a video game, so we're gonna have moral choices, <v Speaker 2>and you're a Samuraid do you have to be you <v Speaker 2>should be honorable? And there was like the father character <v Speaker 2>who was like reminded you you should be honorable, and <v Speaker 2>then you had the option to be a sneaky little <v Speaker 2>assassin guy, but that was dishonorable, and the game was <v Speaker 2>saying you were naughty for doing that, or at least <v Speaker 2>that's how I read it. I don't know if it <v Speaker 2>was actually going through in like punishing you or anything, <v Speaker 2>but I certainly felt that way, and I was I'm <v Speaker 2>just like out a point where it's like, if you're <v Speaker 2>gonna put stuff in a game, let me decide if <v Speaker 2>it's good or bad. <v Speaker 1>I don't really need that. <v Speaker 2>But whatever that was the first game does the second <v Speaker 2>game maintain any of that. I guess you do still <v Speaker 2>have the choice to be because Dan showed me in <v Speaker 2>the Quick Look you can still like do the thing <v Speaker 2>where it's like, Okay, I'm going to announce that I'm <v Speaker 2>here as a samurai and do a showdown with a guy, <v Speaker 2>which I thought was cool, But I also think I <v Speaker 2>want the option to be equally weighted to like go <v Speaker 2>be a sneaky little ninja. Does it kind of open <v Speaker 2>you up? <v Speaker 5>Or what it doesn't like have like a larger system <v Speaker 5>that I've seen yet, Like you know, Infamous, you know, <v Speaker 5>was very just like you know, blue Glowy Halo guy <v Speaker 5>or Red devil horn guy. This is like you will <v Speaker 5>come upon certain scenes and stuff not even necessarily tied <v Speaker 5>to the story of just like are you gonna loot <v Speaker 5>all these corpses and kill the guy who says that <v Speaker 5>that's shitty? Or are you gonna like, you know, give <v Speaker 5>the guy money and help collect these masks and stuff <v Speaker 5>like that. Like there's like clear good and bad choices <v Speaker 5>you can make at times, but it doesn't feel like <v Speaker 5>it's a gimmick of the game, you know, and like <v Speaker 5>there's no one coming in to be like, oh, what'd <v Speaker 5>you do that, you know, it's it's not. <v Speaker 1>Like that, really, I think that's I actually, I think <v Speaker 1>that may be what it is for me where I <v Speaker 1>felt like I couldn't play Ghost of Tsushima in a <v Speaker 1>way that I want to play, where like I do <v Speaker 1>want to be a sneaky little guy sometimes and then <v Speaker 1>like if shit hits the fan, just go into a duel. <v Speaker 1>But here it's like I guess it's just like cool <v Speaker 1>with letting you do it. And I don't know, maybe <v Speaker 1>the character for there's so many parts of the internet <v Speaker 1>that have such a weird boner for Gin from the <v Speaker 1>original game about like oh, I can't really their reprice <v Speaker 1>Chin and he's not going to be the main character <v Speaker 1>for their second one. Fuck off. I find this main <v Speaker 1>character to be more of a person anything. <v Speaker 2>So it does it does like solve that problem of <v Speaker 2>like because she her whole thing is just revenge, right, <v Speaker 2>Like she's just out there to like do this, and <v Speaker 2>so who cares how you get revenge? <v Speaker 1>It frees them up. <v Speaker 2>It answers that question of like how do we deal <v Speaker 2>with this problem in the first game if it was <v Speaker 2>a problem, which I think they've decided by doing it <v Speaker 2>this way. In the second game that maybe it was <v Speaker 2>something they didn't want to repeat, so maybe not a problem, <v Speaker 2>but they wanted to try something different here, and so <v Speaker 2>they were gonna need a different character. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, and anyway, I there's so many games coming out, <v Speaker 1>but I do just find myself just firing this up <v Speaker 1>and staring at it, just like letting the wind blow. <v Speaker 1>And now I think I finally understand Brad Shoemaker. <v Speaker 3>Oh no, really, there's just no you don't now, I'm sorry. Samurai. <v Speaker 1>Yes, maybe you have called him that, Yeah, I mean <v Speaker 1>behind it se yeah, behind the scenes, we would call <v Speaker 1>him the last Samurai. Yes, yeah, yeah. <v Speaker 2>It was a biograph biography about him, biography and biograph. <v Speaker 1>I think you were there this This might have been <v Speaker 1>either my first or second game of the year. But <v Speaker 1>Brad had gone on about how how he had enjoyed <v Speaker 1>so much of Red Dead Redemption two and just like <v Speaker 1>living in the world and kind of just like losing <v Speaker 1>time in it. Yeah. Yeah, And then I could easily <v Speaker 1>see myself doing that in Ghost of Yote and kind <v Speaker 1>of like the same way that that Brad had enjoyed <v Speaker 1>all the bits and pieces around the main story of <v Speaker 1>Red Dead Redemption two. I can see myself just like <v Speaker 1>roaming across the fields and just like basking it in. <v Speaker 1>This may be the only instance I will say that <v Speaker 1>I think a game sent would be cool for that Jesus. <v Speaker 5>Yeah, yeah, it'd be pretty good for the most part. <v Speaker 5>And it's like the whole ship and all that. Than <v Speaker 5>I'm with you on the Red Dead two thing, But <v Speaker 5>like you know, it does do the thing that like <v Speaker 5>makes me like it more than Red Dead two in <v Speaker 5>the way that like, if you're writing past a fraud <v Speaker 5>is that a word, I don't know, something you can <v Speaker 5>pick up. <v Speaker 6>You can just hit R two and it just picks <v Speaker 6>it up. <v Speaker 5>It wears like Red Dead, Get off my horse's fraud, <v Speaker 5>you know, like. <v Speaker 1>Arthur, you got there, thank you, thank you. <v Speaker 3>Yeah. <v Speaker 1>It's not a person no nuts. <v Speaker 5>Yeah, I mean this is like not afraid to be <v Speaker 5>video gaming in that way where it's like there's some <v Speaker 5>quality of life stuff and every once in a while, <v Speaker 5>like it's like you don't need to do the cooking <v Speaker 5>mini game, we got you, you know, just give you <v Speaker 5>a boost, you know. <v Speaker 6>So it's not as slavish to that as as Red <v Speaker 6>Dead is. <v Speaker 1>But the thing this also reminded me of is that <v Speaker 1>Assassin's Creed Shadows came out this year. It's oh boy, <v Speaker 1>uh not a year in a fair. <v Speaker 2>Amount of that, which is one of the reasons why <v Speaker 2>I'm not like chopping at the bit to get into OTA, <v Speaker 2>which is not fair to Ota, but that's just where <v Speaker 2>I'm at. <v Speaker 1>I think I may be more of a two D <v Speaker 1>Ninja mood because I've yet to check out the Shanoby <v Speaker 1>game and Sean super Dan, you were also super high, <v Speaker 1>so god, that is on the list. I feel like <v Speaker 1>all these games are consuming me. But Dan Reiker, yes, <v Speaker 1>you have been playing consume me? I yeah, I started <v Speaker 1>it last night. I started it. I didn't really know <v Speaker 1>what it was. <v Speaker 6>I don't know. <v Speaker 5>I feel like I saw some like posts about it <v Speaker 5>where I was like, it's gonna be one of those <v Speaker 5>really narrative games that are probably extremely like like a <v Speaker 5>desk Belote or something like that, where it's just like, Okay, <v Speaker 5>I can recognize the craft inness, but like, typically I <v Speaker 5>don't enjoy playing those type of games, And uh, what's <v Speaker 5>that smirk backler, it's the isn't it below te Probably <v Speaker 5>I assume no, yes, yes, so, but Bonk was playing it, <v Speaker 5>and Banc was really enjoying it and telling me about it, <v Speaker 5>and she was like she liking it to Warrio where, <v Speaker 5>which is like, oh, okay, I'm immediately interested in now <v Speaker 5>with like a lot of little mini games and stuff. <v Speaker 5>But then she told me it's it is about disordered eating, <v Speaker 5>and that is something I did not realize. That's what <v Speaker 5>the game was about. And that is something I learned <v Speaker 5>a lot about, you know, over ten years ago when <v Speaker 5>I met Bianca, and one of the first things she <v Speaker 5>told me was that before meeting me, she had really <v Speaker 5>struggled with anorexia. And I didn't really know anything about it. <v Speaker 5>I'd never really known anyone that struggled with disordered eating, <v Speaker 5>at least to my knowledge, and so yeah, I learned <v Speaker 5>a lot about it early on. And it's like it <v Speaker 5>was very eye opening in that, like, you know, if <v Speaker 5>someone's never experienced anxiety. I've run into these people that <v Speaker 5>are like, chill out, what are you worried about it? <v Speaker 5>And it's like, yeah, not at works. That's that's not <v Speaker 5>how it works at all. I boy, I I'd love <v Speaker 5>to just chill out. That'd be great. The same way <v Speaker 5>that you know, some people if they hear about annarexia, <v Speaker 5>just you a cheezberger. Why don't you just eat a cheeseburger? <v Speaker 5>And it's like, through talking to her about it, I <v Speaker 5>learned so much about what it is and the control <v Speaker 5>factor of it and how it just kind of consumes <v Speaker 5>your you're thinking every day. And I remember she I <v Speaker 5>read I want to understand it more, and I read <v Speaker 5>a Porcetta Rossi's book about it. She was from Arrested Development. Yeah, <v Speaker 5>she struggled with that. So basically, I just I learned <v Speaker 5>a lot about it back then and I played this <v Speaker 5>game and talking to Bank about it too, it's like <v Speaker 5>she's like, yeah, this is like such an interesting way <v Speaker 5>to illustrate the difficulties and the struggles of disordered eating basically, <v Speaker 5>and it's presented very like it is kind of like Warrior. <v Speaker 5>W're like, and the presentation's awesome. It's very you know, <v Speaker 5>kind of jaunty music and stuff like that. But it's <v Speaker 5>a kind of runs like Depression Quest or Unpacking where <v Speaker 5>it's like I've never had depression, and then playing Depression Quests, <v Speaker 5>I kind of saw that like, oh, you have multiple <v Speaker 5>choices of what you can do tonight, and you keep <v Speaker 5>getting it crossed out because you have depression it's like, oh, okay, <v Speaker 5>I didn't understand it was like that or whatever. So <v Speaker 5>with this, there's like different meters you have to just <v Speaker 5>kind of juggle between all the time. You go day <v Speaker 5>by day, you wake up every day and eat lunch <v Speaker 5>and all this, and you've got your mood meter, you've <v Speaker 5>got your energy meter, and you've got your gut meter, <v Speaker 5>like how full you feel. But you're also trying to <v Speaker 5>stay under a calorie limit, which is a huge thing <v Speaker 5>that people with what you have is like very much <v Speaker 5>obsessing over every calorie that goes into your body. So <v Speaker 5>you got all these meters you got to juggle, and <v Speaker 5>you know one's going down, like it's almost impossible to <v Speaker 5>kind of keep them all in like an equilibrium. And <v Speaker 5>at the same time, you're trying to earn money by <v Speaker 5>doing chores, because chapter one is all about like you're <v Speaker 5>trying to save up money to buy a swimsuit because <v Speaker 5>there's this party and there's this boy you like, and <v Speaker 5>you want to go look hot in a swimsuit for <v Speaker 5>this guy for this party. <v Speaker 6>So you got like nine days basically to. <v Speaker 5>You know, you're trying to stay underneath your calorie limit, <v Speaker 5>which it says early on it actually like to avoid <v Speaker 5>like triggering people with eating disorders, it just calls them bytes, <v Speaker 5>and so you have like five hundred bytes you can <v Speaker 5>do each day. So it starts with like you're eating lunch, <v Speaker 5>and it's like a Tetris minigag type thing where it's like, okay, <v Speaker 5>so I can fit in. There's all these hunger spots <v Speaker 5>I need to fill, and if I don't fill them all, <v Speaker 5>which is impossible most of the time, you're gonna like <v Speaker 5>not be hungry, you're not gonna be full enough. And <v Speaker 5>there's stuff where it's like, oh, there's this cookie that <v Speaker 5>I can use for this one slot, but that has <v Speaker 5>a bunch of bites, so that's going to put me <v Speaker 5>over the limit. <v Speaker 6>So I'm going to feed that to the dog. <v Speaker 5>So there's all these like very interesting play mechanics that <v Speaker 5>go into the story they're trying to tell. So like <v Speaker 5>another thing you're trying to do is level up, Like <v Speaker 5>you've got skill meters for like diet, athletics, academics, and chores, <v Speaker 5>and so you're trying to do all of those. So <v Speaker 5>you know your mom's on your ass for like it's <v Speaker 5>a semi autobiographical thing. So like the character's mom is like, hey, <v Speaker 5>you're getting chunky. <v Speaker 6>You need to lose weight. And it's like, hey, your <v Speaker 6>grades are you know, slipping. You need to work on this. <v Speaker 5>So like the minigame for when you're studying is like <v Speaker 5>you'll pick a You'll be on the bus and you <v Speaker 5>have to read a book to study for a test, <v Speaker 5>and like your head is rotating around and you have <v Speaker 5>to like jam a when your vision is over the book. <v Speaker 1>But it's like rotating around. <v Speaker 5>And then it's like also these thoughts are popping up <v Speaker 5>and they're visualized by like clouds like thought bubbles and stuff. <v Speaker 5>So it's like, oh, it's your mom yelling at you, <v Speaker 5>it's the scale, it's all these other things that are <v Speaker 5>entering her mind. And that kind of like like your <v Speaker 5>the minigame cone bumps against it and makes it so <v Speaker 5>you can't finish it. So it's just so smart with <v Speaker 5>all these different ways. It very much gamifies the thinking <v Speaker 5>of someone that's going through this. So like that that <v Speaker 5>is the thing is like, it's kind of I assume <v Speaker 5>it's going to become impossible to juggle everything, you know. <v Speaker 5>I finished chapter one. I was able to kind of <v Speaker 5>like get everything to a reasonable level, but like, for instance, <v Speaker 5>I was so worried about like trying to keep my <v Speaker 5>bites under the limit. And also you can exercise, so <v Speaker 5>you can burn up, so if you go over the limit, <v Speaker 5>it's like, oh, if I burn fifteen bites, then I'm <v Speaker 5>under the limit and I'm great. But you only have <v Speaker 5>a set amount of time every day you can do things, <v Speaker 5>so like if you're just focusing on dieting and exercising, <v Speaker 5>you don't walk the dog, you can't do your laundry, <v Speaker 5>you don't have time to study, you're not cleaning the bathroom, <v Speaker 5>so your mom's pissed you about that. So like I <v Speaker 5>had a moment where I was so much trying to <v Speaker 5>like do all the bite stuff and the diet stuff <v Speaker 5>that you do have to actually do your laundry in <v Speaker 5>the game, and there's a really kind of fun minigame <v Speaker 5>with it. But at one point there was like a <v Speaker 5>little vignette where a bus droby and splashed my character <v Speaker 5>and so it's like, oh shit, my clothes are dirty. <v Speaker 1>Now I need a change. <v Speaker 5>But because I hadn't done the laundry minigame that day, <v Speaker 5>I didn't have any clean clothes. <v Speaker 1>So the mood meter goes down. <v Speaker 5>So it's just this like really really tremendous way of <v Speaker 5>like like it is on its surface like fun mini games, <v Speaker 5>and it's it's just kind of like a time management thing. <v Speaker 5>But as far as like getting across you know, the <v Speaker 5>message of this game, and like as far as like <v Speaker 5>you know, you don't really hear empathy games that much anymore. <v Speaker 5>I was kind of a phrase that people throw around <v Speaker 5>a lot. I think this is like tremendous as far <v Speaker 5>as that goes. <v Speaker 2>Awesome, you do, so you think it accomplishes the goal <v Speaker 2>of like someone like you who is a somewhat familiar <v Speaker 2>with these things but maybe can't necessarily immediately put yourself <v Speaker 2>in those shoes? Does it bridge that gap a little bit? <v Speaker 1>Yeah? <v Speaker 6>And and most importantly, you know, I asked Bianca. <v Speaker 5>I was like, I mean, do you feel like effective <v Speaker 5>and like and she's like, this is so relatable, Like yes, <v Speaker 5>absolutely so Yeah, it seems to like absolutely be nailing <v Speaker 5>the message and also the game aspect of what it's <v Speaker 5>going for. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I know, and I'll almost expecting next. <v Speaker 2>It does seem made by people who have who want <v Speaker 2>to convey these things, But I think it's one thing <v Speaker 2>to convey to someone who knows what they're going for <v Speaker 2>and has experienced it. Yeah, but like you know, it <v Speaker 2>does sound like it even can reach out to people <v Speaker 2>who have no frame of reference for this and maybe <v Speaker 2>begin to help them understand it, which is really impressive. <v Speaker 5>Because yeah, again, like like so many mental illnesses, I <v Speaker 5>think people that don't understand it or haven't excloruished it, <v Speaker 5>like it is very hard to like, like, Bianca doesn't <v Speaker 5>have anxiety, so like I can, I can explain what <v Speaker 5>a panic attack is. Act She's seen me have panic <v Speaker 5>actually knows they're not fun. But unless you have felt that, <v Speaker 5>you can't understand. Right, It's like it's like, oh, hey, <v Speaker 5>you're not gonna die, what's going on? <v Speaker 4>You know? <v Speaker 6>It's like this is a great way to kind of <v Speaker 6>let someone feel that a little bit, you know. <v Speaker 1>For as dire as video game news seems to be <v Speaker 1>every single day that we report about it on this website, <v Speaker 1>I'm very happy that the indie game scene is able <v Speaker 1>to pull off neat things like this Despolote and just <v Speaker 1>other weird stories that, like you know, I talked about <v Speaker 1>last week, can only really be pulled off in video games. <v Speaker 1>Like on its face, Baby Steps is just a frumpy <v Speaker 1>white dude in a onesie. Uh, that's too dirty home, <v Speaker 1>he needs a shower. But you're have to hear you <v Speaker 1>talk about like the deeper messages they you know, you <v Speaker 1>can that are intentionally laid in there that you can <v Speaker 1>pull out. It seems very It's just like, you. <v Speaker 2>Know, I'm not someone who's dealt with a lot of depression, <v Speaker 2>but the game, clearly it's like such a good way <v Speaker 2>of like understanding someone and like kind of like what <v Speaker 2>they have to overcome or things like that. I don't <v Speaker 2>know if it's as good as as consume me, which <v Speaker 2>consume me. <v Speaker 1>I swore you were saying consume me, and I was like, <v Speaker 1>Google and consume me. I'm like, that's a lot of dinner. <v Speaker 5>Compared it to Baby Steps. I'm just seeing this from <v Speaker 5>the chat, so I can't verify myself, but it says <v Speaker 5>fun fact. I love to bring up Jenny the lead <v Speaker 5>dev is a protege of Ben at Foddy. <v Speaker 1>Oh wow, okay, yeah man, that's hell. Yeah, that rules okay, <v Speaker 1>very awesome from the Bennett Foddy Learning Tree and that yeah, okay. <v Speaker 1>I I was thinking about this where quick tangent to movies, <v Speaker 1>but I watched Infinity Castle, the Demon Slayer movie, and <v Speaker 1>it is obscenely long. When it comes to I'm going <v Speaker 1>to download it and make my own edit because if <v Speaker 1>you were to show this to anyone, it would be <v Speaker 1>you couldn't parse out shit. And also Zanitu's fight should <v Speaker 1>be last, and I think we can all agree on that, right. <v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, we're right there with you, Bud, Thank you, <v Speaker 1>thank you, thank you. It's a much more deeper interaction. <v Speaker 1>I do like reng Goku though, anyway, But I am <v Speaker 1>so juiced because if this is the type of like <v Speaker 1>visual assault that we're seeing in animated movies now with <v Speaker 1>Infinity Castle, across Spider Verse, Mitchell's versus the Machines, I'm <v Speaker 1>so excited for in ten years, the fucking visual mayhem <v Speaker 1>that we're going to get from like these weird kids <v Speaker 1>growing up consuming this shit. Oh yeah, anyway, speaking about <v Speaker 1>consuming things, this is a game that I think has <v Speaker 1>quickly consumed a good chunk of the staff. <v Speaker 5>Eighties two So credits yesterday, nice, I saw credits this weekend. <v Speaker 1>I beat it. <v Speaker 5>Yeah, yeah, I you know, I've talked about it more <v Speaker 5>at length in the past, but I'll just say that <v Speaker 5>now that I'm done with it, And the last few <v Speaker 5>weeks have been so Hades two in Megabank Heavy, and <v Speaker 5>I still am loving MEGABONK and I'm still I'm definitely <v Speaker 5>you know, knocking off checking off all those boxes and <v Speaker 5>stuff like that. It is like, I beat Hades and <v Speaker 5>I had the thought that, like, you know, MEGABONK is <v Speaker 5>a scoop of ice cream and Hades two is like <v Speaker 5>a three course meal. You know, Oh, we're both good. <v Speaker 5>You like eating both of them, for sure, but like, yeah, <v Speaker 5>Haites is just so much more like layered and just <v Speaker 5>in so many different ways. You know, obvious We've talked <v Speaker 5>about the dialogue and everything, but just like how different <v Speaker 5>the runs can be and everything, and like the fact that, <v Speaker 5>like the first one, you do need to do a <v Speaker 5>bunch of runs to a bunch of successful runs to <v Speaker 5>see credits in this game, and it does keep that <v Speaker 5>interesting and fun and everything. So it's like, look, knew <v Speaker 5>this game was gonna be good. It it's an absolute killer. <v Speaker 5>It's if you said it was the best rogue Light <v Speaker 5>of all time. I certainly wouldn't blink at that. <v Speaker 3>Now, are you also feeling a pool to kind of <v Speaker 3>keeping and getting the epilogue done. <v Speaker 1>Are you trying to use this as a break to <v Speaker 1>check out some other games? <v Speaker 7>Same thing. <v Speaker 1>I should do that, but I also kind of keep <v Speaker 1>going to play Eighties two. <v Speaker 5>It's the exact same approach I had to Soilk Song, <v Speaker 5>where it's like I got to the end of Act <v Speaker 5>two and it's like Act three started, and it's like, <v Speaker 5>all right, I do want to play this because this <v Speaker 5>is definitely one of my favorite games of the year. <v Speaker 5>But it's like, I feel like I've seen credits, I've <v Speaker 5>seen an ending of this game for sure, Like I'm <v Speaker 5>going to focus on other stuff right now and then <v Speaker 5>maybe I'll come back to it at some point. <v Speaker 1>Mm hmm. Yeah. <v Speaker 3>I feel like I kind of need to do that <v Speaker 3>as well. So many things. You know, I need to <v Speaker 3>start tactics and like I should be trying Trails on <v Speaker 3>the sky. But god, it's just so fun playing Eighties two. <v Speaker 3>And you know the first game did this too, but <v Speaker 3>it's just so smart how when it starts almost get <v Speaker 3>kind of easy. It introduces that system where you can <v Speaker 3>make the game harder through various ways that you can pick, <v Speaker 3>and then you get rewards for doing that that unlocks <v Speaker 3>more cool stuff. So You're still even this lay in <v Speaker 3>the game, even at the rolling credits, constantly unlock. That's <v Speaker 3>creat constantly getting new dialogue and new story beats and <v Speaker 3>interesting things happening. <v Speaker 1>It's just insane how dense. <v Speaker 3>This game is. <v Speaker 2>But I think that's the most impressive thing is that <v Speaker 2>is you both you and Dan now have touched on <v Speaker 2>that where it's like it just keeps going and the <v Speaker 2>three course meal of like they just find ways to <v Speaker 2>make everything still feel so worthwhile even though you are <v Speaker 2>still doing these runs over and over again. <v Speaker 1>It's they could change things up on you. <v Speaker 2>It just feels like one of the most well thought <v Speaker 2>out games ever made in terms of making sure the <v Speaker 2>player feels like they're never wasting their time. <v Speaker 3>That starts right away. <v Speaker 2>I talked about that last week when we were talking <v Speaker 2>about it. To hear that that continues and there's new <v Speaker 2>things to unlock and see and like new systems that late, <v Speaker 2>that is impressive start. <v Speaker 3>I mean, I still haven't actually completed like a romance <v Speaker 3>path or fooled out, you know, filled out an entire relationship. <v Speaker 1>Thing, which God, are you trying to fuck? I? <v Speaker 3>I you guys aren't gonna like is I? You both <v Speaker 3>disliked them, like the mean lady with the short babe. <v Speaker 6>No ghost, are you? That's a McGroom, Mike. <v Speaker 3>Also scary movie the lady ghosts. <v Speaker 5>You're getting the ghosts, Mike, dan Ackroy fuck the ghost <v Speaker 5>he got blown by ghost. <v Speaker 1>But yeah, I mean out of you know relations, the meaning. <v Speaker 3>Of it is, of course, yeah, of course, yeah, yeah <v Speaker 3>themreal seems like a nice guy. Huh, good for you, Mike. <v Speaker 3>You know, hey, do your thing, chicken wing. I like <v Speaker 3>the lady that's mean to me. Yeah, no, no, no, <v Speaker 3>says okay. I nemesis went too far that one time. <v Speaker 3>But she was like I at least knew my mother. <v Speaker 3>Uh no, there's no coming back from that. She doesn't <v Speaker 3>even really apologize for it. You can go get fucked. <v Speaker 6>I'm a Sellini man, I get it for sure. <v Speaker 3>Can you later, Harry? <v Speaker 1>Carry line? Isn't it? I'm sorry? <v Speaker 3>What did you say? Does Aras show up later? <v Speaker 4>Is that? <v Speaker 3>Which? <v Speaker 1>Which one's air? She's short hair? The game girl. <v Speaker 6>Oh she's the worst. <v Speaker 3>She's the one who gives you the deep buff and <v Speaker 3>what in the beginning of the game thro trash on <v Speaker 3>the ground, Yeah, a second area. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, no, you know what Mike I get it. I <v Speaker 1>get it. I understand it. Yeah you know what, Yeah, <v Speaker 1>that's a cheat code for me as well. <v Speaker 3>It's a strife yeah, okay, right, all right. <v Speaker 1>Okay, I get it. Mike. Did you encounter the person <v Speaker 1>I was alluding to last week that had the cum gutters? <v Speaker 1>I I. <v Speaker 3>Saw somebody with just a massive i'll just say it, <v Speaker 3>a massive penis bulge. <v Speaker 1>Yes, that's him, dress. <v Speaker 6>Like I dress like fucking dress and acting like Matt Riddle. <v Speaker 1>Yeah. I didn't notice. I didn't notice the I'm not <v Speaker 1>gonna call them the cgs. I didn't notice the cs <v Speaker 1>as much as you. <v Speaker 3>I was distracted by his thong bulge. <v Speaker 1>It was insane. He stuffed it. You think he's stuffed? <v Speaker 1>I mean, God is wild. So he put a grapefruit <v Speaker 1>in there, a grapefruit maybe of some kind. <v Speaker 3>What are you even trying to say? You put a <v Speaker 3>grapefruit in there? Jesus Christ? <v Speaker 1>That spherical? It is kind of spherical. Okay, all right, <v Speaker 1>all right, Well we talked a lot about eighties two <v Speaker 1>and and like the replayability and unlocking everything. I want <v Speaker 1>to hear from y'all. What is the load out that <v Speaker 1>y'all have been rolling with? And or like the builds <v Speaker 1>that you're trying to. <v Speaker 3>I mean, I generally will do the one that recommend <v Speaker 3>that like switching up, unless it's that axe. I have <v Speaker 3>not ever made that axe feel bad. So give us <v Speaker 3>some tips because've been struggling with the I ax. <v Speaker 5>You do the scythe version, the aspect that turns it <v Speaker 5>into a scythe because that I think already, oh yeah yeah, <v Speaker 5>so up sythe and the attack speed goes up. So <v Speaker 5>like the big downside of the axe is the swing speed. <v Speaker 5>But it's got like good damage. It's got this huge <v Speaker 5>range of attack, and so you focus on getting like <v Speaker 5>you know, the hammer upgrades and stuff like that. It'll <v Speaker 5>be like boost your attack speed and so and I <v Speaker 5>barely use like sometimes i'll use the special for that <v Speaker 5>one to like knock off armor, but I put everything <v Speaker 5>else into like you know, you'll get crazy shit where <v Speaker 5>it's like it'll attack in a three sixty around you <v Speaker 5>with the normal speed of a slice. It has a <v Speaker 5>chance to swipe twice. It's like you can make that <v Speaker 5>thing a fucking killer. <v Speaker 2>I did have a good run when I was doing <v Speaker 2>the slash twice. I got one where it was like <v Speaker 2>slash twice and then also Mike slash twice if you <v Speaker 2>do a dash, so it was actually slashing four times occasionally. <v Speaker 1>That was insane. That was really cool. <v Speaker 3>I think my favorite has been the last one you <v Speaker 3>get that just kind of turns you into an armored <v Speaker 3>Corps robot with all the missiles you can just kind <v Speaker 3>of run around spam your special or aiming at people. <v Speaker 3>I've gotten pretty strong with that, and the one where <v Speaker 3>you and then the one you throw out the skulls. <v Speaker 3>I've had good luck with that, and then also get <v Speaker 3>the ones that could just later ones like one, well <v Speaker 3>later in the game, it becomes pretty easy to just <v Speaker 3>constantly have Mana reag in so that that isn't all <v Speaker 3>resource you worrying about, so even just constantly shooting those <v Speaker 3>out and spending the Mana on that. And and if <v Speaker 3>you have builds that reward you for using Mana, like <v Speaker 3>you know, if you get at the saliney stuff, that <v Speaker 3>could become pretty powerful. <v Speaker 5>And I really didn't like. Those are the two I <v Speaker 5>didn't like for most of my time with this game <v Speaker 5>was the wands and the skull. The skulls and I <v Speaker 5>barely ever even even when they were the glowy one. <v Speaker 5>I didn't pick it, and then like yesterday, I was <v Speaker 5>picking them a lot, and it's like, man, any weapon <v Speaker 5>in this game you can kind of tweak it. Like <v Speaker 5>with those hammer upgrades. I love when I'm going up <v Speaker 5>because there's almost always a hammer there in that first time. Yeah, <v Speaker 5>and so it's like I go there first and it's <v Speaker 5>like I will just get something. It's like, okay, great, <v Speaker 5>that makes us a very usable thing. Or like you know, <v Speaker 5>the skulls. I didn't necessarily like picking up my AMMO <v Speaker 5>when it dropped it down, So it's like all right, <v Speaker 5>when you get a hammer upgrade, that makes them automatically <v Speaker 5>returned to me and one hundred percent faster. And then <v Speaker 5>it's just like I have this awesome ranged explodey thing <v Speaker 5>that I used to like kill the the main boss <v Speaker 5>going up without even like using a death defiance. Like <v Speaker 5>so these things that I didn't like at all, it's like, <v Speaker 5>oh shit, you just get on the right run with them, <v Speaker 5>and like they can be That's. <v Speaker 1>That's the thing with the weapons. The right run can <v Speaker 1>make anything awesome. Yeah, you kind of get it. <v Speaker 3>You just start getting a sense of what boons you're <v Speaker 3>looking for, what upgrades are even taking advantage of those <v Speaker 3>uh those items that make certain gods appear more often <v Speaker 3>because you're looking for something. Yeahcific and the bosses are <v Speaker 3>just super good too, you know spoilers. But the third <v Speaker 3>boss on the going up route, I love that fight. <v Speaker 3>That fight is so much fun. There's parts of it <v Speaker 3>that remind me of like a World of Warcraft raid, <v Speaker 3>with the way you. <v Speaker 5>Certain things fire stuff that Yeah, yeah, okay, I'm the <v Speaker 5>middle top bottom. <v Speaker 1>I literally hear my raid leader calling it. <v Speaker 6>Out in I was assigning numbers to be like a <v Speaker 6>two one, two three I would. <v Speaker 3>Do if you like that kind of stuff, that's what <v Speaker 3>That's a lot of what WOW rating is like, Well, <v Speaker 3>I didn't like that, so. <v Speaker 1>I recommend it for you. <v Speaker 2>Kronos, it like didn't seem like I'm still pretty early on. <v Speaker 2>I got to Kronos once and got him like the <v Speaker 2>second phase, and like one fit of his south I <v Speaker 2>was like, right there, I'm like this s that fight <v Speaker 2>wasn't too bad. I'm assuming like he is an appetizer <v Speaker 2>for like what is really happening in this game. <v Speaker 3>Right, And you know, and there's that yeah, because you <v Speaker 3>thinking of him as like the final boss maybe's and <v Speaker 3>super correct because you do have the uppath. I will <v Speaker 3>say that he seemed he definitely seemed easier than Hades <v Speaker 3>did the first. <v Speaker 1>Time they got to the comparison I'm making. <v Speaker 3>I think you get to that point with Chronos maybe <v Speaker 3>because we're all a bit more trained on this now, right, <v Speaker 3>But you got there with Hades eventually where that was <v Speaker 3>kind of automatic. He just knew what he did. And <v Speaker 3>you feel that with Kronos. But you know, you get <v Speaker 3>those things too that make each boss fight harder, and <v Speaker 3>I'm kind of working my way through those right now too. <v Speaker 3>It's always really interesting to see the ways they do that. <v Speaker 3>Like you know, for the Sirens, it's very different. They <v Speaker 3>sing a different song, there's a different mechanics there, there's <v Speaker 3>a different arena you're fighting them in. So yeah, it's <v Speaker 3>completely different encounter in a lot of ways. Yeah. <v Speaker 1>I love the Sirens and like the building lore in <v Speaker 1>between runs. I got fairly early they were like you're <v Speaker 1>an agent, right out at you, and then like you <v Speaker 1>meet them the next round, they're like, you're not a <v Speaker 1>fucking agent. You lied to us. It is so good, <v Speaker 1>It's so fucking good. <v Speaker 3>It's great characterization, amazing character like my favorite depiction of Greece, <v Speaker 3>Greek mythology stuff I've ever seen, and they made a <v Speaker 3>Disney movie about that shit. <v Speaker 1>Wow. Okay, yeah, yeah yeah, Heracles here doesn't need to <v Speaker 1>show me any com gutters. I'm I'm down for the ride. <v Speaker 1>Uh folks, that's wait. Wait, we talked a lot about stuff. <v Speaker 1>We let's take a quick bricky break. We'll finish off <v Speaker 1>games talk, and then we'll talk about the news right <v Speaker 1>after this. Brub. I love podcasts and I would like <v Speaker 1>to listen to more of them. <v Speaker 5>Oh boy, I've got the podcast for you, then, Bud <v Speaker 5>Stage Select, Grub. <v Speaker 1>I have trust issues, especially with podcasters. <v Speaker 2>Look, it's always important to be careful and safe about podcasters. <v Speaker 1>But don't worry. <v Speaker 2>Host Julian Titus and Justin Hamm have over sixteen years <v Speaker 2>a combined podcasting experience, and The Stage Select is finishing <v Speaker 2>up its second season at the end of the year. <v Speaker 1>Holy smokes, what a pedigree? Tell me more, Grub. <v Speaker 2>Oh what about a video game variety show where the <v Speaker 2>hosts act as if they're performing for a live studio audience. <v Speaker 1>Kind of like The Muppet Show. Do they have reoccurring <v Speaker 1>characters Shenanigans, Bits and skits. Oh baby, we got bits, <v Speaker 1>we got skits. I love bits and skits. Is there more? <v Speaker 2>The show is designed to be unexpected. Jan they'll go <v Speaker 2>to space sometimes a surprise game show. Expect the unexpected space. <v Speaker 1>Grub, Grub, I'm hearing that. Episodes forty one and fifty <v Speaker 1>nine are fantastic points to get a vibe of the show. <v Speaker 1>Julian and Justin are fiercely independent and do this for <v Speaker 1>the love of video and podcasts. <v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, they draw from the best, like the Giant BombCast, <v Speaker 2>next Lander, Rebel FM. <v Speaker 3>And no one can know. <v Speaker 1>About this well Grub, I'm glad I know about this <v Speaker 1>podcast at stage select give it a. <v Speaker 7>Listen, Bits and skits. We still got games to talk about. <v Speaker 7>I realized my channel is muted, but hey, we still <v Speaker 7>got games. So the truck, the train is moving along. <v Speaker 7>That's why everybody. <v Speaker 3>No more distractions, no more pausing for any other bits <v Speaker 3>or any other business unless it's related to golf Leek merchandise, <v Speaker 3>which you can find at store dot giant Bomb dot com. <v Speaker 3>Hey you look great right now, but I know you <v Speaker 3>would look even better and a Giant Bomb golf shirt <v Speaker 3>and Giant Bomb golf hat not just available in green, <v Speaker 3>like I'm wearing all sorts of fun colors. You will <v Speaker 3>be the main course on the golf course when you <v Speaker 3>wear the the Giant Bomb Golf Week apparel store dot <v Speaker 3>Giant Bomb dot com. <v Speaker 4>And he's like gone down since the first time. <v Speaker 6>Yeah, you're still working for me now, airs coming out <v Speaker 6>of the balloon. <v Speaker 1>So yet, yesterday I learned in golf that there's like <v Speaker 1>a beer cart. <v Speaker 3>Girl. <v Speaker 1>Can I just go to a golf cart course and <v Speaker 1>just like hang out and and and counter one or <v Speaker 1>do I have to play golf? <v Speaker 2>You can hang out at the nineteenth hole right the bar. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>what a lot of a lot. <v Speaker 4>Of they're all legally obligated to be called that. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I've never seen one not called that. Yeah. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, a lot of local Like at least here, all <v Speaker 3>the local golf courses have generally a pretty nice restaurant <v Speaker 3>in bar, and you can look out on the greens. <v Speaker 1>They're pretty Mike, I enjoy your business tactics, but you <v Speaker 1>know what I enjoy more than that? No fy, no <v Speaker 1>fantasy tactics. Now, I'm just grubbs. <v Speaker 3>I didn't see where that was going. <v Speaker 1>It's right, I'm trying to zig and I thought you <v Speaker 1>were gonna zag with me, but you like ziggy z. <v Speaker 1>Get over there, Jeff Grubb, you it says on this <v Speaker 1>list here have peeped Final Fantasy Tactics, the Evilies Chronicles. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, yeah, I've started it. <v Speaker 2>I've done a handful of battles, and I like, I <v Speaker 2>think it's clicking for me. I tell you what, it <v Speaker 2>looks really nice and that helps. I think the presentation <v Speaker 2>is very good. I think it took me a second <v Speaker 2>to I get used to the camera, but once I realized, <v Speaker 2>you could just hit the one of the shoulder buttons <v Speaker 2>and it gives you a top down view. <v Speaker 1>And then if that's not even. <v Speaker 2>A toggle, it's just like a Holts. You hold, you <v Speaker 2>check down, make sure that you got everyone in your site, <v Speaker 2>you let go. It goes back to the more cinematic <v Speaker 2>isometric view that looks really pretty. That helped me like <v Speaker 2>unlock the game. For me, It's like, Okay, I'm not <v Speaker 2>like struggling with this camera anymore. I could just quickly <v Speaker 2>pop in, pop out and make my move. It's got <v Speaker 2>a job system, which I of course knew, but I <v Speaker 2>love job systems games and. <v Speaker 5>Just like barely sort of scraping the surface of that. <v Speaker 5>I'm already like, oh, I'm good. <v Speaker 2>I'm super gonna get into this because I just can't <v Speaker 2>wait to take these characters and build them out and <v Speaker 2>give this one this job and then that next job. <v Speaker 1>And oh my god, a bit later on they're can <v Speaker 1>be able to like take. <v Speaker 2>The things they learn and do some super special job. <v Speaker 2>Because I went down that path, I'm like, ooh, that's <v Speaker 2>my shit. So it's it's hitting sort of the tone <v Speaker 2>that I needed it to hit. I think, like I <v Speaker 2>remember Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced maybe being getting going a <v Speaker 2>little bit faster and getting me on board with the <v Speaker 2>tactical gameplay, which is what I'm really here for a <v Speaker 2>little bit faster. But it's not like this is some slouch, <v Speaker 2>and you know, it's always been praised for its story <v Speaker 2>and early on I think that's like, oh, yeah, I'm <v Speaker 2>getting this. <v Speaker 4>I am. <v Speaker 2>I'm like, I get what people why people think this <v Speaker 2>is high quality, and I can tell that there's some <v Speaker 2>seeds here that if they deliver on them, then yes, <v Speaker 2>I will be right on board with everyone else who's <v Speaker 2>super into what this game is doing on that front. <v Speaker 1>I don't know how many games allow you to work <v Speaker 1>your way up to be a mime, but this is <v Speaker 1>one of those that's a rules. <v Speaker 3>Have you guys played foun Fantasy five where like that's <v Speaker 3>where the Final Fantasy job system style was written. <v Speaker 1>Talk to me about it before, and it sounded awesome. <v Speaker 3>So freaking good if you like this job system and tactics. <v Speaker 3>My understanding is that it's very similar to the one <v Speaker 3>from Final Fantasy five. <v Speaker 1>Got it? Okay, I'm glad to hear you're enjoying your <v Speaker 1>time with it, Grub. I need someone to eventually tell <v Speaker 1>me what the fucking Onion Knight is. <v Speaker 3>From Final Fantasy three is where Onion Knights first originated. <v Speaker 3>It was the name of the starter class in the <v Speaker 3>original version of the game and subsequent remakes. It was <v Speaker 3>almost kind of the ultimate class that you could get instead. <v Speaker 3>But yeah, it's just a it's a Final Fantasy three thing, <v Speaker 3>original Fficy three, the one that was on the famicom. <v Speaker 1>Ah. I see there's there's there's lots of layers to it, <v Speaker 1>just like ogres, just like onions, just like a parfait, <v Speaker 1>and just like Lego Voyagers has lots and lots of layers. <v Speaker 1>Jeff Beckelart, you have been playing this, I'm assuming, but <v Speaker 1>dib yes. <v Speaker 4>But this is not a story about our time with <v Speaker 4>that game, Jan This is a story about how we're <v Speaker 4>not playing that game. Oh okay, and this is a <v Speaker 4>story how we're not playing Henry half at because I <v Speaker 4>offer these items to my son as a gift. He <v Speaker 4>doesn't know how good he fucking has it getting to <v Speaker 4>play all these goddamn games like Schmorga's Board of whatever <v Speaker 4>you could possibly conceive, all of these free codes. He <v Speaker 4>he's playing FC twenty six the week before it comes out, <v Speaker 4>like it ain't no thing, It's unbelievable. And what does <v Speaker 4>this kid want to play instead of Henry half Het? <v Speaker 4>What does this kid want to play instead of Lego Voyeurs, which, <v Speaker 4>by the way, we did play for two hours. We <v Speaker 4>played it for two hours. We had a great time. <v Speaker 4>Stacey washed it was a family moment. <v Speaker 3>We did the thing. <v Speaker 4>It was really really nice and we got to like <v Speaker 4>a certain level where he was like, oh you know what, Dad, <v Speaker 4>I'd really want to go back and play Steal the <v Speaker 4>Brain rot on Fortnite Fortnite. <v Speaker 2>Oh now, my kids just started Fortnite because it came <v Speaker 2>about Demon hunters and they've been asking for a brain <v Speaker 2>rock game and I'm like I can't find one. <v Speaker 1>So now they have. <v Speaker 3>What does that mean? <v Speaker 1>What is a brain rot game? <v Speaker 3>Okay, just like the kids like like today regular like Sixcess. Okay, <v Speaker 3>but listen, okay. <v Speaker 1>Just keep saying things. <v Speaker 4>Well, most people know what they are. It's not it's <v Speaker 4>not your fuel, no don't, but uh at least not <v Speaker 4>on my browser. Listen, here's here's what it is. <v Speaker 3>Okay. <v Speaker 4>Steal the brain Rot is very loosely adapted from the <v Speaker 4>Roadblocks game. Steal the brain Rot kind of like a <v Speaker 4>comic where you so it's like a Fortnite you know, uh, <v Speaker 4>custom game right where someone built this map area where <v Speaker 4>you get onto a server and out an assembly line <v Speaker 4>comes these quote unquote brain rots that are just he's <v Speaker 4>like insane sort of I don't know, for lack of <v Speaker 4>a better comparison. <v Speaker 1>Ambos, right, just come out. <v Speaker 4>There's like trophy there, there's like a there's like all <v Speaker 4>the brain rot classics you've come to know and love, <v Speaker 4>all collected in one ridiculous Fortnite experience, and they come <v Speaker 4>out and you can buy one and then it goes <v Speaker 4>into your base and you collect all of these brain rots. <v Speaker 4>Then if there are more people on your server, you <v Speaker 4>basically have to play this game of like Fortress, where <v Speaker 4>you protect your brain rots, you have to renew the <v Speaker 4>lock on your base, and if you allow your base <v Speaker 4>to be unlocked, someone can steal your brain rot. <v Speaker 1>And that's what this game is. <v Speaker 3>It's very dumb. It is very dumb. <v Speaker 1>It is very bad. <v Speaker 4>And where I'm really like, you know, where he and <v Speaker 4>I are locking horns. It's like, dude, you play all <v Speaker 4>these like really sort of a I don't want to <v Speaker 4>say cerebral, but certainly more engaging in a positive way, <v Speaker 4>even Fortnite on its face, like with the strategy and <v Speaker 4>the socializing. He's getting the socializing with the brain rod shit, <v Speaker 4>but like he's not. This is not a game. This <v Speaker 4>is just very dumb. And I'm like, dude, you gotta <v Speaker 4>just stop. <v Speaker 1>You got to stop. <v Speaker 3>There's no like currency, there's no like V buck attachment. <v Speaker 3>It's not like you don't understand. <v Speaker 4>He's not like he's not like, you know, draining the <v Speaker 4>bank account, asking for seven thousand v bucks just so <v Speaker 4>we can get like a tik tala miky mala, you <v Speaker 4>know whatever. <v Speaker 3>Okay, Yeah, I wish. <v Speaker 4>It just sucks. Look, I get it. He's ten. Is <v Speaker 4>the worst taste imaginable. He is just a piece of <v Speaker 4>shit in every sense of the word. He has no understanding. <v Speaker 4>That is true of every kid. My kids said loved garbage. <v Speaker 4>I've said this for years. True, they love Track one hundred, <v Speaker 4>like you know. I mean, look, need I say more <v Speaker 4>than the cyber truck? Right, the thing that's only ten <v Speaker 4>year old boys think is cool. Right, there's a reason. <v Speaker 1>So I get it. <v Speaker 4>And my patients only last so long with this stuff. <v Speaker 1>But did you get tungue tung tung sahar? <v Speaker 4>Yeah, we got like eleven of them. And the more <v Speaker 4>brainroots you get, the more your base gains a floor. <v Speaker 4>So he has like a five story base with all <v Speaker 4>of these brain rots that generate fake money, and you <v Speaker 4>collect all the money so you can buy more. <v Speaker 3>It's just like a collection thing, clicker. It's a time <v Speaker 3>wasting collect a. <v Speaker 1>Lot of these games. <v Speaker 2>A lot of these games are basically like idol games <v Speaker 2>with a little bit more going on. The k Pop <v Speaker 2>Demon Hunter's Tycoon game, another Fortnite fan made game my <v Speaker 2>kids are playing, is basically just an idle game. <v Speaker 1>I watched them. <v Speaker 2>I was like what are you guys doing because they <v Speaker 2>had spent ten minutes straight just punching a box that <v Speaker 2>was spreading out money. <v Speaker 5>Yeah, it was like yeah, like I can't judge. I've <v Speaker 5>played a lot of idle clicker games, so. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I mean get it. <v Speaker 4>I get it right, and I know, just like most <v Speaker 4>of this slop, it will pass right, Like, yes, the <v Speaker 4>time is running out on this for I go. Look <v Speaker 4>like you're you play Fortnite, You've been playing Rocket League <v Speaker 4>in Fortnite for like five years. <v Speaker 3>Those are the things you come back to. <v Speaker 4>I promise you in six months, you're gonna be like, <v Speaker 4>oh right, I did play that brain Rock thirty years. <v Speaker 5>You're gonna have like a synaps spark and like wait <v Speaker 5>did I play that game? And you're gonna try to <v Speaker 5>find it and it's not gonna be anywhere because it's <v Speaker 5>not worth preserving and like that, your brain. <v Speaker 4>Will decide to delete it to make space for other stuff. <v Speaker 4>So you know that's Henry. Henry Halfhead. He played for <v Speaker 4>like two hours. <v Speaker 1>He loved it. He's like, this is great, this is <v Speaker 1>so much fun. <v Speaker 3>I'm you know. <v Speaker 4>He It brought a lot of like the Donut County, <v Speaker 4>you know, memories he really loves and uh, I think <v Speaker 4>that game's cute. <v Speaker 1>And very cool. <v Speaker 3>Uh and Voyagers is great as well. <v Speaker 4>I just, you know, I bring all these up because <v Speaker 4>he put them on a shelf to go back to <v Speaker 4>this goddamn brain Rock game. And if you're a parent, <v Speaker 4>you probably know what it's about. But holy shit, I <v Speaker 4>just can't wait till this this one passes, because this <v Speaker 4>one hurts. This one is this one's uh scraping at <v Speaker 4>my uh scraping at the wounds here a little bit. <v Speaker 1>What do you guys back are you know? Uh Jan <v Speaker 1>Mike Dan, what do you guys think? Tongue tung tongue <v Speaker 1>Sahar is it? I'm gonna say it. It feels racist <v Speaker 1>in the mouth. Is there a racist mouthfeel? <v Speaker 3>Yeah? <v Speaker 2>It definitely had his racist mouthfeel and probably there could <v Speaker 2>be something there, but well, I mean it originated from <v Speaker 2>Indonesian Malaysian culture, so they're part of the brain Rock community. <v Speaker 3>Absolutely it is. <v Speaker 2>I think it's a piece of wood with arms and <v Speaker 2>legs that carries. <v Speaker 1>A baseball bat. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, there's so many weird like the brain It's weird <v Speaker 4>how the brain Rod stuff turned into like statues like <v Speaker 4>these are characters. <v Speaker 2>You know, Valerie to Cappuccina, there is a literal one <v Speaker 2>that's a six seven. <v Speaker 1>Yep. <v Speaker 4>He's just walking around like I'm a six almost seven. <v Speaker 6>Hey, so doing you know I'm gonna go live in <v Speaker 6>the woods. <v Speaker 1>You do. <v Speaker 2>That's that's what they want, Dan, So you're you're seeding <v Speaker 2>this culture to them. <v Speaker 1>That's what they want. <v Speaker 3>The old man to go away. <v Speaker 4>I will, Yeah, it's true, that is true. I mean, look, <v Speaker 4>I think it's mostly harmless. <v Speaker 3>I get it. <v Speaker 4>Just like you said, Grub, we were into pretty dumb ship. No, no, yes, <v Speaker 4>I never felt this way about you, Like my dad <v Speaker 4>watched it with me and I lose SpongeBob and fucking uh. <v Speaker 4>You know, Gravity Falls is amazing. There's a lot of <v Speaker 4>good stuff there, for sure. There is. <v Speaker 7>Yeah. <v Speaker 1>POGs. Yeah baby. <v Speaker 3>If you if your memory is a poster deleted and <v Speaker 3>POGs showed up right now as only a thing Dib <v Speaker 3>and kids like that were into, you would hate POGs recess. <v Speaker 4>I will just say this, for the best majority of <v Speaker 4>the brainwaw, shit is bad. I do think six seven <v Speaker 4>is not the worst. I kind of in a way, <v Speaker 4>I think it's all right. <v Speaker 1>It's so stupid. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, right, but here the thing. Uh Rich in the <v Speaker 4>chat was like six seven is no worse than whats that? <v Speaker 3>And Rich is right, yeah, right now that's the Budweiser commercial. Similarly, <v Speaker 3>like that's what we're all doing, right, yeah, yes, I <v Speaker 3>mean it is, that's the truth. We're also all the <v Speaker 3>homophobic things we used to just say constantly in the <v Speaker 3>school yard, right yeah. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, they're better about that now. Yeah. Well I've heard <v Speaker 1>some youth still saying certain words and like yeah, and <v Speaker 1>then in fact, the art word. We got rid of <v Speaker 1>that one, and like everyone's like we miss it, What <v Speaker 1>the hell I mean? Yeah, okay, well it feels like <v Speaker 1>the youth are in a completely different world, if not <v Speaker 1>a completely different galaxy, just like Mike Minatti you have <v Speaker 1>been on a different galaxy by playing Super Mario Galaxy too. <v Speaker 3>Yeah. I mean it's one of the all ten great <v Speaker 3>games and it still is that, And the graphic improvements <v Speaker 3>are more than I was expecting. The game looks very <v Speaker 3>sharp most of the time, Like every once in a <v Speaker 3>while you'll see Captain Toad and he kind of looks <v Speaker 3>like a GameCube character suddenly, like his mouth is just <v Speaker 3>a texture, you know, kind of a thing, like oh, <v Speaker 3>that part looks old, but everything else actually still looks <v Speaker 3>super spiffy. The resolution is really sharp, the colors are popping, <v Speaker 3>so the porting job whatever they did, looks fantastic. <v Speaker 1>Just using the. <v Speaker 3>Gyro controls is more than adequate instead of the pointer. <v Speaker 3>I haven't had an issue with it at all. It <v Speaker 3>was amazing when I was using the pro control and <v Speaker 3>it works just about as well when I'm just doing <v Speaker 3>the game in hound handhold mode. Even when I'm doing <v Speaker 3>the Yoshi stuff. You had to kind of aim somewhat <v Speaker 3>precisely with that pointer while you're platforming. I have not <v Speaker 3>had a problem with that at all. It is interesting <v Speaker 3>playing this game because, like, outside of the levels, I <v Speaker 3>think a lot of the stuff just isn't as good <v Speaker 3>as it is in Galaxy One. Not that coming to <v Speaker 3>a Mario game for story, but it's more like the presentation. <v Speaker 3>Like Galaxy One opens with this surprisingly epic and just <v Speaker 3>sort of well framed opening cut scene. <v Speaker 1>They hear it. <v Speaker 3>It's like it's a story book with you know, texts, <v Speaker 3>and it just feels cheaper. Spaceship Mario isn't nearly as <v Speaker 3>good of a hub world as the Observatory from one. <v Speaker 1>The thing is like you know that's a matters. <v Speaker 3>It doesn't matter that much, certainly not as much as <v Speaker 3>level design and mechanics, and Galaxy two is just so <v Speaker 3>freaking amazing at that stuff. The levels are all so <v Speaker 3>freaking interesting and fun and constantly introducing new ideas and <v Speaker 3>new things. It's just an absolute blast to jump through <v Speaker 3>all of them. The physics feel perfect. When you have <v Speaker 3>those weird gravity moments of the little planet toys you're <v Speaker 3>jumping between them, it's awesome. Some of the best power <v Speaker 3>up probably like my favorite suite of power ups in <v Speaker 3>any Mario game, between the b Suit and the cloud <v Speaker 3>Suit and like the rock rolling Mario and all that stuff, <v Speaker 3>and then yosh in this game, one of the best <v Speaker 3>implementations of Yoshi that we've had. Super fun. So yeah, <v Speaker 3>Galaxy two is still that game, and this seems like <v Speaker 3>a fantastic kind of upgraded port of it. <v Speaker 5>I've had to stop myself because I have not played <v Speaker 5>Galaxy two since I think it came out, and I <v Speaker 5>remember at the time thinking like, yeah, this is the <v Speaker 5>best three D platform of all time. I think this <v Speaker 5>is a little bit better than Galaxy which was my <v Speaker 5>previous best ever. So I got like one star in <v Speaker 5>this just to kind of like see how it looks <v Speaker 5>and everything kind of wet the appetite, and it's like, <v Speaker 5>all right, maybe that's a holiday thing. Maybe that's you know, <v Speaker 5>once I'm done with some other stuff, you know, like <v Speaker 5>that's I'm very very excited to go back to that. <v Speaker 1>So I'm happy to hear control. So well, that's great. <v Speaker 5>Yeah, fantastic, Chat says interesting question. Hey, is every mainline <v Speaker 5>Mario game now on Switch? And I think it might <v Speaker 5>be wait Sunschina. Yeah, it's in three D all Stars, <v Speaker 5>so so okay, and I know maybe you don't. I'll <v Speaker 5>just do it real quick. <v Speaker 3>I know it. <v Speaker 5>It's one two, three World, World two sixty four Sunshine <v Speaker 5>Galaxy Galaxy two honesty. <v Speaker 3>Yes, all right on mom. Yes, so three D Land <v Speaker 3>and Super Mario Lant aren't on there yet. And yes <v Speaker 3>we also have three D World, which is still the <v Speaker 3>weirdest one, Dan that you don't consider that one. Did <v Speaker 3>you see like the museum put up a wall with <v Speaker 3>all the Maine Mario games and there's no Yoshi's Island? <v Speaker 6>How interesting did it say? What was the phrasing? Send <v Speaker 6>me a link. <v Speaker 3>I don't rember for you. The one that posted this Dan, <v Speaker 3>I believe it's name line. <v Speaker 6>I pointed out that Yoshi's Island was on the Yoshi Wall. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, right, is that what you're referring to? <v Speaker 3>No, there's a new one. I'll find it for you later. <v Speaker 1>But yeah, so, uh, whatever you want to. <v Speaker 3>Call him of the May of the three D of <v Speaker 3>the Mario platformer games, which somehow is then enough of <v Speaker 3>a description to be mainline for Dan. <v Speaker 1>Uh, it's just Mario lant. <v Speaker 3>Which will be is that somehow stone? <v Speaker 1>That can't be right? <v Speaker 3>Is that not on nisode? <v Speaker 4>No? <v Speaker 3>That has to be what am I saying? <v Speaker 4>I figured it's god which land it is? <v Speaker 7>It is? <v Speaker 3>It's just three D land actually, which I don't even <v Speaker 3>know if they bother with that one. Honestly, I'm not <v Speaker 3>sure if we get that one. <v Speaker 6>Oh bro, you're saying a game boy one. So those <v Speaker 6>aren't mainline, but yeah, you. <v Speaker 3>Can just talk to me. Yeah, three D Land. <v Speaker 2>I think they'll redo that at some point. They'll because <v Speaker 2>you can't just put that out in HD. It would <v Speaker 2>look fucking bad. <v Speaker 1>Give it some extra love, you know. <v Speaker 3>I'm sure it could get away without being three D, <v Speaker 3>but you gotta kind of replace that with something. I <v Speaker 3>don't know because was important. Yeah, yeah, but. <v Speaker 2>It's like they can figure something out there, but it's <v Speaker 2>it looks pretty barren when you played on an emulator now, <v Speaker 2>so hopefully they do something there, but they'll do it <v Speaker 2>at some point. <v Speaker 1>I think, Yeah, I forget and Galaxy too. How many <v Speaker 1>different like suits and stuff does Mario get? There's a lot, <v Speaker 1>because uh, I sometimes get which ones were brand new <v Speaker 1>for two? But he was in the he was in <v Speaker 1>the first one. What about Cloud was Cloud in the <v Speaker 1>first one? <v Speaker 5>Cloud was Cloud is the best? <v Speaker 3>Cloud is the best Mario costume we've ever had. The <v Speaker 3>way it looks and the mechanics of it are so <v Speaker 3>freaking good. I think Boulder might have been new for two. <v Speaker 3>I like bolt to Mario. You have fire, you have <v Speaker 3>ice as well, you have the spring. Also you have <v Speaker 3>that cherry that creates the copy of you. <v Speaker 1>That's great. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, yeah, it's all sorts of good. <v Speaker 1>Stuck. Well, yeah, Mario continues to wear a bunch of <v Speaker 1>different hats, But I'm more interested in the hat that <v Speaker 1>you're wearing, Mike Manatti, because you have it celebrating golf <v Speaker 1>Week like no one else. You're still wearing the golf <v Speaker 1>week clothes. You can get Store dot Giant Bob dot com. <v Speaker 1>But you have also been playing a couple other golf <v Speaker 1>games that you'd like to. <v Speaker 3>Talk about, Yeah, Josh Tomorrow, to kick Golf Week off, <v Speaker 3>I dug into a bunch of them, starting with Pebble <v Speaker 3>Beach Golf Leaks on the Sega Saturn, which was originally <v Speaker 3>a three D O game, And yeah, that's really the <v Speaker 3>vibe here. Don't think early three D polygons three think, uh, yeah, <v Speaker 3>we're using digitized sprites and FMV cuttings on some three <v Speaker 3>D levels. But boy, the vibe is actually really neat. <v Speaker 4>It. <v Speaker 3>It's Craig Stadler is This character just keeps popping up <v Speaker 3>and talking to you. He doesn't have a lot of charisma, <v Speaker 3>which is why it's amazing. Whenever he's saying lines, it's <v Speaker 3>actually hilarious. He has become my favorite golfer ever. Now <v Speaker 3>I'm obsessed with the Walrus and yes that is his nickname. <v Speaker 3>But there is like this is actually a good game, <v Speaker 3>and I love that it is just Pebble Beach, this <v Speaker 3>one renowned golf course and before every hole they actually <v Speaker 3>like show you a video of it with Craig Styler <v Speaker 3>talking about it and literally like offering you actual advice <v Speaker 3>on how yeah you should play this hole, which you <v Speaker 3>know a place of the game, but would also apply <v Speaker 3>if you are actually playing golf there. <v Speaker 1>This is the virtual highlight engine. <v Speaker 3>This is the fertile highlight engine, so it's made for yeah, <v Speaker 3>digitized sprites on three D world. <v Speaker 1>The best is uh I was. <v Speaker 4>I caught a glimpse of it, and it's like the <v Speaker 4>shakiest fucking helicopter. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, it comes over yesterday. <v Speaker 3>I didn't hear that. <v Speaker 4>No, that is so funny to me, Like just these <v Speaker 4>lengths of which they had to go to to just <v Speaker 4>get an aerial shot of a single golf hole, where <v Speaker 4>now it's just some putts with a fucking drone. <v Speaker 3>Yeah. The one thing I really struggling with was the <v Speaker 3>power meter was just difficult to read. It was in <v Speaker 3>like five segments, so it's hard to tell where percent <v Speaker 3>was really and I don't know. It just feel like <v Speaker 3>I was constantly undershooting or overshooting. You know, if I <v Speaker 3>played it more, i'd get a feel for it. Yeah, <v Speaker 3>this is a kind of golf game that could only <v Speaker 3>have existed in this one two or three year window <v Speaker 3>there in the history of video game graphics. So I'm <v Speaker 3>glad we got it. It was a fun treat. But <v Speaker 3>we actually got a couple of indie developers reached out <v Speaker 3>and wanted to help us celebrate Golf Week with some <v Speaker 3>of their games, So I checked those out on Mega <v Speaker 3>Man last night. You can catch that stream. First one <v Speaker 3>was called Golf in It and this one is like <v Speaker 3>it's a little bit of that like Game Boy Color <v Speaker 3>Mario style. One thing that reminded me of and I <v Speaker 3>mean this is positive. It's like the flash golf games <v Speaker 3>used to play in high school. <v Speaker 7>Right. <v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, sure, I'm nostalgic for those. Yeah. <v Speaker 3>Because it's easy to play on mouse and keyboards. It's <v Speaker 3>very fast paced, you know, classic golf stuff with you know, <v Speaker 3>click once for power, click again for accuracy. There's some <v Speaker 3>a few other extra things happening, Like there's turtles on <v Speaker 3>the golf course and if you land near their radius, <v Speaker 3>they'll just sort of hit your ball, so like that <v Speaker 3>could really miss you. Up there are portals, and if <v Speaker 3>you go in a portal, maybe it'll get you closer, <v Speaker 3>but maybe it'll get you further away. <v Speaker 1>You can also buy upgrades. <v Speaker 3>With sort of the experience points you're through playing things <v Speaker 3>like oh you can use this ball one time that <v Speaker 3>just won't bounce at all, or another ball that will <v Speaker 3>always bounce in the direction of the pen. <v Speaker 1>So stuff like that. Yeah, so ito's golf in it. <v Speaker 1>Go O L F I N I E. Then also <v Speaker 1>checked out Super Video Golf. <v Speaker 3>Now this is like what a sega on a golf <v Speaker 3>game would have looked like if it was like Virtua Golf, right, <v Speaker 3>early three D polygons kind of a thing like the <v Speaker 3>golf game we didn't get then, So I always love <v Speaker 3>that low poly look. <v Speaker 1>So this has that in spades. <v Speaker 3>And then again just very classic golf mechanics on top <v Speaker 3>of all of that has everything. He kind of went with, <v Speaker 3>you know this, you know again, classic swing controls, stuff <v Speaker 3>like that. It just had a very good vibe, very <v Speaker 3>good music. It had a little bit of that Craik <v Speaker 3>Statler energy. <v Speaker 1>Honestly looks cool. Yeah. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, you have the bad voice lines right with the <v Speaker 3>low quality audio. So yeah, so it's the low fi <v Speaker 3>video golf, very cool vibe, super good Again it's called <v Speaker 3>Super Video Golf. So another very good uh indie golf game. <v Speaker 3>To check out what I have online stuff like online <v Speaker 3>tournaments or play with Okay, oh, that's cool locally things <v Speaker 3>like that. <v Speaker 2>I did try that Beavis and butt Heead mini golf <v Speaker 2>game from nineteen ninety eight to see if it would <v Speaker 2>be worthy of Golf Week. <v Speaker 6>That game sucks, but holes a hohoy or what's it called. <v Speaker 2>It's like a bung hole in one. The best thing <v Speaker 2>about that game, by far is the name good. It's <v Speaker 2>just like what if mini golf was happening in the <v Speaker 2>Beats and butt Heead world, but you don't like see <v Speaker 2>them on the course. You like, it's one of those <v Speaker 2>ones where you click on the ball, pull away from <v Speaker 2>it and then it kind of flings forward like I <v Speaker 2>like that mechanic. But it's just such a bare bones, <v Speaker 2>basic nothing game that really isn't worth the time. <v Speaker 1>That's the new golf game I played. <v Speaker 2>I played some Neo turf Masters and stuff like that <v Speaker 2>before everyone knows that rules, Yeah, I was. <v Speaker 1>I checked out some of that stream. Neo turf Masters <v Speaker 1>does rule. <v Speaker 3>I mean it's funny because it has some of that <v Speaker 3>similar energy to Pebble Beach, which is, you know, instead <v Speaker 3>of like digitized, it's mo capped, really high quality spice <v Speaker 3>sprite work. I think, Yeah, it just still looks so <v Speaker 3>freaking good. The music is amazing. That's probably my favorite <v Speaker 3>golf game ever. I love it. <v Speaker 1>It's it really holds up. <v Speaker 3>It's fantastic. <v Speaker 1>We are continuing the Golf Weeks celebrations and for those <v Speaker 1>folks out there that may have heard the Game Informer <v Speaker 1>at the play during the break, we're gonna go play <v Speaker 1>against Game Informer tomorrow. That's right. I believe Dan and <v Speaker 1>Grubb are going against the Vans. That's right, Van Allen <v Speaker 1>and Van Ak, and we're going against them in everybody's golf, <v Speaker 1>right is that's that's. <v Speaker 5>The everybody's I think Van Aken might be traveling, but <v Speaker 5>I've been talking to Van Allen about it and if <v Speaker 5>he's not availble. <v Speaker 1>Tongs one Van otherwise I'm out. <v Speaker 5>We will have a Van and another Game Informer out <v Speaker 5>of there that we would go against. All right, okay, okay, <v Speaker 5>unfeat against kind of funny. I think it's about time <v Speaker 5>to be undefeated against another outlet. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, do it. Yeah. All the models out there, you're <v Speaker 1>on watch, get on watch. We're all coming for you. <v Speaker 1>That's right. <v Speaker 3>Right, We're getting out of the com gutters and we're <v Speaker 3>gonna go dominate in video games across the board. Start <v Speaker 3>giant bum. <v Speaker 1>We sell coung gutters. No, well, I was gonna I <v Speaker 1>was gonna say, I'm ready to party with Game Informer. <v Speaker 1>But before that, I want to hear about a party <v Speaker 1>that we had last Friday, Lego Party. Holy smokes gang, <v Speaker 1>imagine if was good so badly? This game was really fun. <v Speaker 5>Actually we played it and loved it. And then I <v Speaker 5>said at the end, I said, because like I think <v Speaker 5>it was. Yes, yeah, that Friday, because like my my sister, <v Speaker 5>her husband and their daughter my niece were on the <v Speaker 5>way up here driving up from Kansas when we were <v Speaker 5>playing Lego Party, and I told you that, like, Okay, <v Speaker 5>the real test is going to be is Mario Party <v Speaker 5>has always been a game that can appeal to people <v Speaker 5>if they don't really play a lot of games or whatever. <v Speaker 5>You know, the types that like you play Mario Party <v Speaker 5>twice a year at holidays or whatever, and like that's <v Speaker 5>your thing is Mario Party. And for my sister Katie, <v Speaker 5>that is her game, Like she would like you to <v Speaker 5>play Mario Party with me and Kayla growing up and stuff, <v Speaker 5>But she they've got a switched. They don't play a <v Speaker 5>whole lot or hasn't play some Call of duty every <v Speaker 5>once in a while, not really gamers biny stretch and <v Speaker 5>I brought it up to them that night. I was like, Hey, <v Speaker 5>would you guys be up for changing it up a <v Speaker 5>little bit to night and uh and playing this new <v Speaker 5>Lego Party game. And Katie told me later that when <v Speaker 5>I said that, she was skeptical because she was like, <v Speaker 5>I don't really care about Legos. I don't really do <v Speaker 5>Lego stuff like Mario Parties are thing like, let's just <v Speaker 5>play that. They finished the first game, absolutely loved it, <v Speaker 5>and we're like, nice, that is better than Mario Party? <v Speaker 6>Can we do another game right now? <v Speaker 1>So? <v Speaker 6>Wow, it is, and I will say it it is. <v Speaker 6>It is better than Mario Party. <v Speaker 3>It's frustrating how much better it is. Like they make <v Speaker 3>fifty Mario Parties, they couldn't have thought of a single <v Speaker 3>one of the one hundred improvements of the formula that <v Speaker 3>Lego Party has introduced here. <v Speaker 1>It's just so much snapier. <v Speaker 4>I feel like on the outside where I'm at, like, yeah, <v Speaker 4>we've been saying this for a long time, So Lego <v Speaker 4>Party no, just about how like piss poor of an <v Speaker 4>experience Mario Party is. And yeah, I'm not going to <v Speaker 4>go that all of these all of these quality of <v Speaker 4>life things that are like so sick people and obvious. <v Speaker 5>Let me run down a few here of like clear <v Speaker 5>improvements and tweaks to Mario Party that I noticed, and <v Speaker 5>I've only played three games of it now, and like <v Speaker 5>there's maps I haven't played, like I want to play <v Speaker 5>a lot more. All right, So mini game placement determines <v Speaker 5>turn order, so yes, which is so smart because let's <v Speaker 5>say it's the thing where me and Greb are both <v Speaker 5>two or three spaces away from the golden brick, which <v Speaker 5>is the star that adds so many stakes to the <v Speaker 5>mini game itself. Is that like goal first, Like holy shit, <v Speaker 5>that alone changes a lot. That's incredible. They've got these, <v Speaker 5>you know, like the two v two stuff. You know <v Speaker 5>it would happen in Mario Party if you know two <v Speaker 5>were on blue and two were on red. Here it's <v Speaker 5>specific brick battle squares that you land on and it <v Speaker 5>puts you in a two v two match and the winner, <v Speaker 5>the winning team gets a golden brick each, so immediate <v Speaker 5>stakes on that. So you get to a brick battle <v Speaker 5>it randomly puts you. It's all right, jan, me and you, <v Speaker 5>we got to get this and there's a star on <v Speaker 5>the line. It's not just ten bullshit coins or whatever. <v Speaker 5>It's it's like a real thing at the end of <v Speaker 5>mini games. This is a very minor one, but I <v Speaker 5>appreciate it. Like it'll show the score, let's say, you know, <v Speaker 5>it's just something where you got to shoot X number <v Speaker 5>of whatever. The score shows up, but then like in <v Speaker 5>the waning seconds, like last five or ten seconds, it <v Speaker 5>fades away. So there's that element of like ooh, one <v Speaker 5>until it does the like you know, oh yeah, yeah, yeah. <v Speaker 1>Final thing. That's that's awesome. <v Speaker 5>So the boards themselves shift, Like the way they use <v Speaker 5>legos in this game is so fucking good because like <v Speaker 5>you'll do the theme park course and there's like the <v Speaker 5>starting area and then like the central fountain thing they <v Speaker 5>go around, but then when you go to the corners <v Speaker 5>you get to build one, so you can build like <v Speaker 5>the new land. So it's like do I want to <v Speaker 5>do horror Land, like a haunted house themed section of <v Speaker 5>this board, or do I want to build extreme Land? <v Speaker 5>And that's a whole different thing. So each time you play, <v Speaker 5>even like the theme park world, that's going. <v Speaker 1>To be different. <v Speaker 5>It does like these risky free bricks you can get <v Speaker 5>there where it's like, okay, I can go to the <v Speaker 5>water park land and if I can climb up this <v Speaker 5>whole thing and avoid all six of these you know <v Speaker 5>why slide things that will send me down shoots and <v Speaker 5>ladder style to the beginning, I will get a free <v Speaker 5>golden brick that I don't have to pay for. I <v Speaker 5>went to the extreme Land and it was a totally <v Speaker 5>different thing with the free brick, where it's like it <v Speaker 5>is a series as you progress through it of like <v Speaker 5>you have to do like okay, like a bike stunt <v Speaker 5>or whatever. You have to like it's a timing thing. <v Speaker 5>And then at the last one you get a monster <v Speaker 5>truck and the golden brick is inside of flaming like <v Speaker 5>hoop and you have to like ramp the monster truck <v Speaker 5>in and if you fuck up the timing, you don't <v Speaker 5>get the golden brick. It was all for not so <v Speaker 5>that stuff is super good. It is way snappier pacing everything. <v Speaker 5>There's moves along faster. There are a couple shops, but <v Speaker 5>like it is not the constant fucking Mario party thing <v Speaker 5>of like, right, well, I could roll eight and run <v Speaker 5>into three shops and have to like fucking shut up, Koopa, <v Speaker 5>I don't want to buy anything, you know. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, wh it's just like the way like it does <v Speaker 3>like a solo mini game where a Mario Party, it <v Speaker 3>just stops. You talk to NBC. It loads too a <v Speaker 3>thing here. It just all happens on the board. As <v Speaker 3>you're going along, your character just quickly looks at the <v Speaker 3>mini game. It's an it's usually like one or two <v Speaker 3>button presses, so it doesn't think forever and just move <v Speaker 3>off your turn. <v Speaker 1>It happens so fast. <v Speaker 5>That's a great point in Mario Party. It happens a <v Speaker 5>lot where you land on a solo one and Okay, <v Speaker 5>we're gonna fade to the roulette to decide what single <v Speaker 5>player game we do. Okay, lands on this, fade to <v Speaker 5>the practice thing. Okay, like everyone's just watching. Okay, fade <v Speaker 5>to the actual thing and then you got to pick <v Speaker 5>your fucking glove item or whatever. <v Speaker 6>Fade back like it's just like so much bullshit. <v Speaker 5>And here, yeah, Michael, you said you can go to <v Speaker 5>like an archery thing in the fantasy land or whatever, <v Speaker 5>and it's just like okay, yeah, hit a twice to <v Speaker 5>try to get the higher number and then move along <v Speaker 5>like it's just so much snappier. <v Speaker 4>It's so much better, so demonstrably better. That Lego is <v Speaker 4>inadvertently jeopardizing its licenses with Intendere's. <v Speaker 1>What they do. <v Speaker 3>They said they're gonna do a switch to upgrade when <v Speaker 3>they get dev kits. <v Speaker 1>Here's what they do, right. They've They've done Lego Batman, <v Speaker 1>Lego Star Wars, do Lego Mario Party Party awesome? <v Speaker 5>Give them the series, Like seriously, Hey, the Lego Nintendo <v Speaker 5>sets are fucking great. <v Speaker 6>I love those. It's cross play. <v Speaker 5>So like my system, Katie and her husband can play <v Speaker 5>on Switch while Cala plays on PS five and I <v Speaker 5>play on PC. It's forty dollars. It's cheaper like it <v Speaker 5>focuses on that. Like all anyone wants to do in <v Speaker 5>these fucking games is play the core board game mode. <v Speaker 5>And the recent Mario Parties outside of Superstars was like <v Speaker 5>the greatest hits. It just packs it with all these <v Speaker 5>fucking side modes no one gives a shit about where <v Speaker 5>it's like, oh, me and Jan are you know, on <v Speaker 5>a Koopa delivery service thing and we gotta fly around <v Speaker 5>with motion flappy things to deliver toads or something like. <v Speaker 3>Things. <v Speaker 5>You'll play once and be like what the fuck is this? <v Speaker 5>And like put the resources into making the fucking board <v Speaker 5>game experience better, and that's what this game is is. <v Speaker 5>It's just the fucking board game experience. And then you're <v Speaker 5>getting player XP levels up, you're getting a park, you know, <v Speaker 5>like board levels up, and getting like fun Lego mini <v Speaker 5>fig customizable stuff. I may like before they all got <v Speaker 5>in town, I made all of us like Lego mini versions. <v Speaker 5>So it's fun to be able to just be a <v Speaker 5>little versions of your Lego versions of yourselves. If if <v Speaker 5>Aliens came down tomorrow and said, like we come to party, <v Speaker 5>like I'm going to fucking Lego Party way before Mario <v Speaker 5>Party objectively better. <v Speaker 1>You're not gonna party off. You're not gonna party r <v Speaker 1>off for it. Yeah that's a joke. <v Speaker 4>Uh. <v Speaker 2>It feels like NFL two K. So Nintendo's gonna go <v Speaker 2>out and get exclusive license. <v Speaker 3>To party and actually do this and. <v Speaker 1>Parties. <v Speaker 3>The medium of cells are so good too, Like they're <v Speaker 3>all very intuitive, they aren't too complicated. None of them <v Speaker 3>are super chance based, which I came across these. <v Speaker 1>You're playing a game. <v Speaker 5>This is way more leg I jokingly said for so <v Speaker 5>many years, Mario Party's a game of skill. There's so <v Speaker 5>much bullshit luck in there. This is just like there's <v Speaker 5>no bullshit stars at the end. I know you can <v Speaker 5>turn this stuff off in Mario Party and everything, but <v Speaker 5>there's always bullshit. And Mario Party was like you just <v Speaker 5>land on a block and you got a star for <v Speaker 5>no reason. This one like you kind of earn your <v Speaker 5>shit in this. And some of these mini games, like <v Speaker 5>Mike said, like very Tall Race. I don't know if <v Speaker 5>you like it was the funniest fucking thing. I don't <v Speaker 5>know if you guys have played that one where you're <v Speaker 5>on this like tall unicycle and you have to have <v Speaker 5>like a race against each other, and it's just like <v Speaker 5>this incredible like balancing game you have to do. Museum <v Speaker 5>Mayhem is this fun one where you like it's like <v Speaker 5>a four square thing where you each have it's like <v Speaker 5>a two by two grid and like everyone's guarding their <v Speaker 5>own lego vase and there's like a big ball bouncing <v Speaker 5>around and it's just very much that like kind of <v Speaker 5>like air hockey. If you ever done those like four <v Speaker 5>player air hockey tables, Yeah, it's like that, but it's like, yeah, <v Speaker 5>I'm trying to like knock this ball to break your <v Speaker 5>vase behind you and everything. There's a trivia game where <v Speaker 5>you're like identifying lego versions of famous art, so it's <v Speaker 5>like a lego version of Starry Night. <v Speaker 6>And you're doing like a multiple choice thing on like <v Speaker 6>what this thing is? <v Speaker 1>It's cool. <v Speaker 5>It's so fucking good, Like I can't like, I feel <v Speaker 5>like when we played the SGF, it was just kind <v Speaker 5>of like we're all just looking around, like this is <v Speaker 5>really good. <v Speaker 1>What the hell? Yeah? <v Speaker 5>Then we played it on Friday, had a blast, immediate winner. <v Speaker 5>It's like this is our new thing. We're like, they're <v Speaker 5>buying it on switch. <v Speaker 3>We need to play it again next week. I know <v Speaker 3>this is golf week made time, but I need to <v Speaker 3>this game again. Yeah. <v Speaker 1>Fun reason I want to. <v Speaker 3>Brothers in the getting it's I can play with them more. <v Speaker 1>I just want to play more Lego party. Yeah. <v Speaker 5>Maybe we don't know if it changes based on what <v Speaker 5>map you're on, but I did see there's a twenty <v Speaker 5>four turn option that was estimated that three hours. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, that's a party. <v Speaker 2>I honestly think that would be a lot of fun <v Speaker 2>because there's so many things we didn't get to do. <v Speaker 2>Because we didn't get to do any of those two <v Speaker 2>versus two things because we didn't have enough time to <v Speaker 2>land on that, and those are so high stakes, they're <v Speaker 2>pretty rare. <v Speaker 1>Like I want to see everything. <v Speaker 5>I haven't seen the version of chance time like on <v Speaker 5>the leg So chance Time needs to be a thing <v Speaker 5>in my party. And that was the ultimate bullshit thing here. <v Speaker 5>It's just the last turn. The shops are turned into <v Speaker 5>like chance Times squares and like that can change things, right. <v Speaker 3>And even like the Boo equivalent, like the seas, they <v Speaker 3>don't show up right away, right. <v Speaker 1>The banana guy. <v Speaker 5>Yeah, they're just kind of like the banana dudes show <v Speaker 5>up in speedboats, like halfway through the game. <v Speaker 3>That was so cool. <v Speaker 6>A bunch of fucking monkeys from an airplane to beat <v Speaker 6>the ship out of you. <v Speaker 1>Great. Maybe we should also invite another party of fiicionado <v Speaker 1>to the Lego party party, Yeah, another sequel party I did. <v Speaker 1>Did Bianca like it? Yes? Really? <v Speaker 6>She actively despises Mario party like that. <v Speaker 5>It's like a family thing and it's like we don't <v Speaker 5>have the full group or whatever, and it's like, listen, <v Speaker 5>the kid is like sixteen months old. <v Speaker 6>You're gonna we need a forest. She's like, I will <v Speaker 6>do it. I will not enjoy this. I will not <v Speaker 6>like I will do the family thing, but like she <v Speaker 6>had fun with this one. <v Speaker 1>Wow. <v Speaker 6>I think this one can win over people that like <v Speaker 6>actively hate Mario Party. <v Speaker 1>It's really good wild. <v Speaker 5>I did a Ninjago level, which that is totally different <v Speaker 5>than the theme park one where it's like you're going <v Speaker 5>to these uh you have these fights against these giant <v Speaker 5>Ninjago dragons and stuff with like timing based things where <v Speaker 5>you goat ship out of them and go they can <v Speaker 5>get a brick. <v Speaker 3>I don't think it get like, you know, some of <v Speaker 3>those classic Lego laces and stuff involved when they did <v Speaker 3>the menses. I would love it if there was like <v Speaker 3>a back to the Future level or. <v Speaker 1>A yeah, yeah, that'd be really cool. Lego Party devs, <v Speaker 1>if you're out there, I know you have a lot <v Speaker 1>of work because you're trying to get the switch to <v Speaker 1>up and running for me, for me, your friend Jan, <v Speaker 1>can you add bionicles please? <v Speaker 3>You're going to pay for that one, I'll do. <v Speaker 5>I've posted about this being better than Mario Party, and <v Speaker 5>one of the devs did repost me saying this is <v Speaker 5>the most professional validation I've ever had in my entire life. <v Speaker 4>I love it. <v Speaker 3>I love it. <v Speaker 1>Let's fucking go. <v Speaker 5>It's tremendous. It's tremendous. It's gonna be my go to <v Speaker 5>and I hope they make twenty more of these. <v Speaker 1>Yep, that may be the best news that I've heard <v Speaker 1>all day. Jeff Grubb, I challenge you to deliver some <v Speaker 1>more no good news. Oop. All right, let's do this. <v Speaker 3>Let's start here. <v Speaker 2>Did you guys see this this thing that Nintendo dropped <v Speaker 2>a weird video a short film. Nintendo post mysterious close <v Speaker 2>to You animated short film this morning. A Nintendo clip <v Speaker 2>titled close to You shows a baby chasing a floating <v Speaker 2>pacifier around a bedroom. It'sok like a three DCGI animated thing. <v Speaker 2>Nintendo has offered no further details, simply posting the video <v Speaker 2>with the title. The video depicts a mother leaving her <v Speaker 2>baby with a passifire, after which the baby's toys begin <v Speaker 2>moving on their own. The passifier then floats out of <v Speaker 2>the baby's mouth, leading to the baby chasing it around <v Speaker 2>the room. The mother re enters, seemingly surprised by the <v Speaker 2>baby's first steps because the baby got up to get <v Speaker 2>the pacifier and hugs the baby, and Nintendo logo appears <v Speaker 2>and the video ends without explanation. Online speculations suggest the <v Speaker 2>music is very similar to Pickman. <v Speaker 3>You know what. The first couple of notes. <v Speaker 2>Of that song sound exactly like the Pickman music, but <v Speaker 2>then it goes in a different direction, so it's like, <v Speaker 2>are those my ears or my ears playing a trick <v Speaker 2>on me? There is another moment in the trailer where <v Speaker 2>the camera's focused on the baby and the baby's chasing <v Speaker 2>some of its toys that's moving around, maybe the pacifier, <v Speaker 2>and underneath its crib a small blow read object is <v Speaker 2>moving that maybe could be a Pickman Even if it is, <v Speaker 2>what do you guys think this trailer is trying to accomplish? <v Speaker 2>So weird because the trailer videos short? Yeah, I mean <v Speaker 2>that's what. <v Speaker 3>It looks like, a CG short, like something from an <v Speaker 3>illumination or maybe it seems like. <v Speaker 1>Something that we'd play before the Mario movie later next year. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, like that is the court. Like this doesn't look <v Speaker 3>like anything Nintendo has done before. But if I would <v Speaker 3>initially think this is just related to you know, they <v Speaker 3>have that Mario line of basically baby toys and baby <v Speaker 3>stuff coming out. Yeah, but like, yeah, like the quality <v Speaker 3>of this is seems surprisingly high and nothing in here, <v Speaker 3>says Mario. <v Speaker 1>It's just this pacifier kind of moving around on its own. <v Speaker 3>Like maybe there isn't it like a new pigment type <v Speaker 3>that's an invisible pickment, and that's moving the pacifier around. <v Speaker 6>This doesn't look like Piman to me. I'm just watching now. <v Speaker 1>The arts high. <v Speaker 2>That's a great many about it. Now we go go <v Speaker 2>to one minute in thirty nine seconds to see that <v Speaker 2>thing move. <v Speaker 1>Okay, there's something there. <v Speaker 6>That is a tiny little that's mmm, that's I. <v Speaker 3>Mean, it could be like the teaser for the Pickman <v Speaker 3>movie from Illumination, right, and. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, that would be cool. I think that would be <v Speaker 1>my best guess. <v Speaker 2>Right, I mean, even if it's like Pickman shorts before <v Speaker 2>the Mario movie that eventually leads to a Piman movie. <v Speaker 3>Down the road. There are people, there's some other speculation. <v Speaker 2>People think that that baby could be Rosolina because of <v Speaker 2>her eye color and what else that was written here, <v Speaker 2>because of its mama storyline in the game. I think <v Speaker 2>that's a stretch, but I don't know, I really don't know. <v Speaker 3>I mean, the baby's wearing blue, right, like that's spacey <v Speaker 3>blue like Rosalina, And yeah, the blonde hair you know what. <v Speaker 3>I like this theory actually immediately now, maybe maybe there's <v Speaker 3>a Loomo over there or something like that. Okay, I <v Speaker 3>think this is a rose oh gosh, yeah, and the <v Speaker 3>mobile has stars on it. I actually immediately think that <v Speaker 3>this is just related to the Mario Galaxy movie and <v Speaker 3>that this is a Rosalina origin. <v Speaker 5>Actually, okay, okay, Chat says again just a chat thing <v Speaker 5>not verified here, says Meamoto has said that pickmen are <v Speaker 5>always quote close to you in the world, and the <v Speaker 5>Pickman bloom app says that humans can't see Pickman. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I was thinking I was wondering if there was <v Speaker 2>something like that. Okay, So a lot of possibilities here, <v Speaker 2>but regard this is weird. <v Speaker 1>Weird they don't. <v Speaker 5>This feels like you're like like Kajima tees of just like, yeah, <v Speaker 5>movie Dick studios, you know what's this fucking thing? <v Speaker 1>You know? Like, yeah, it's very bizarre. All right, I'm intrigued. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>Nintendo's name pops up. I don't. <v Speaker 2>I feel like if Illumination was very involved, they would <v Speaker 2>have their credit on there. <v Speaker 1>I don't see. Yeah. <v Speaker 2>Ninato did acquire a three D video production team last <v Speaker 2>and they called it Nintendo Video in like the last <v Speaker 2>couple of years. <v Speaker 3>So I don't know either way, I'm fascinated by this. <v Speaker 2>Uh I listen, it's something new with Pickman. Even if <v Speaker 2>it's a Pickman movie, Oh anything, I will be very excited. <v Speaker 1>I love I love Pickman. I'll take it. I would <v Speaker 1>love a new Pickman game. Though. They should just make <v Speaker 1>the Pickmen into minions. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I mean, I'm honestly, they're gonna work with elimination, <v Speaker 2>just like, have the Minion team do a Pickman movie. <v Speaker 1>I bet that would be all ruin pimen. <v Speaker 2>Pickman were doing that shtick long before the minions existed, <v Speaker 2>so they didn't. <v Speaker 1>Have a stick. They were real, they were pure. <v Speaker 3>They're very honest, all right. <v Speaker 2>Months after delay, Bungee's Marathon is returning to testing. Buzzy <v Speaker 2>a Bungee Shooter Marathon is set to return to close <v Speaker 2>beta testing between October twenty second and October twenty seventh, <v Speaker 2>nearly four months after it's an initial delay. This NDA <v Speaker 2>protected play test aims to evaluate improvements made since the <v Speaker 2>alpha does feel like and they say it, it's like <v Speaker 2>a big important checkpoint. It feels like this is gonna <v Speaker 2>be the moment it's like, Okay, can we actually release <v Speaker 2>this game by March and it'd all be decided by <v Speaker 2>help people respond to it. Now, let me ask you, guys, <v Speaker 2>any interest into seeing how Marathon looks at this point <v Speaker 2>or is this one of those ones where like I'll. <v Speaker 3>Just wait till it's out. I mean, it's an academic interest, <v Speaker 3>because you know, we've heard pretty quickly that people didn't <v Speaker 3>like Marathon when it was last testing, and that seemed <v Speaker 3>to kind of, you know, put the game in this <v Speaker 3>weird place. I'm just curious if I don't think I'm <v Speaker 3>going to like the game almost no wonder what I <v Speaker 3>tried it. <v Speaker 1>I think I just don't like extraction shooters. <v Speaker 3>Actually, who knows, But there are a lot of people <v Speaker 3>who do, and I'm curious if this wins over more <v Speaker 3>of them, if this does find some positivity, or if <v Speaker 3>this Marathon is just going to continue to sort of <v Speaker 3>drown in this negative space that's been occupying for so long. <v Speaker 1>Now. <v Speaker 2>Yep, yeah, we've talked a bunch about Marathon, so there's <v Speaker 2>not much else to say here. But you know, that <v Speaker 2>is a game that apparently they still want to get <v Speaker 2>out by March, by the end of the fiscal year <v Speaker 2>if it doesn't make that window. <v Speaker 1>If this goes poorly again, do you. <v Speaker 2>Think it could be as bad as pulling the plug <v Speaker 2>on it? <v Speaker 1>Like they can't, right, they can't. I feel like they can't. <v Speaker 1>I think you're right, I feel like they can't. I <v Speaker 1>don't know, though. <v Speaker 3>No. <v Speaker 2>Metal Health Singer studio closed as part of fun coom cuts. <v Speaker 2>Funcom is closed the Outsiders, the developer of Metal Health Singer, <v Speaker 2>as part of company wide the layoffs. Founder David Goldfarb <v Speaker 2>shouts out to David Goldfarby's school. Dude announced the closure, <v Speaker 2>noting that the studio, acquired by Funcom three years prior, <v Speaker 2>had survived a previous near death experience that led to <v Speaker 2>the creation of Metal Health Singer. I see there's there's <v Speaker 2>a lot of camaraderie there. <v Speaker 1>At the studio. <v Speaker 2>They're going to try to like do something to maybe <v Speaker 2>save the essence of the studio. I didn't fully follow <v Speaker 2>what he meant, but it sounds like they are going <v Speaker 2>to try to continue in some way. Whether that's like <v Speaker 2>building a new team off to the side with a <v Speaker 2>lot of the same people or not. <v Speaker 1>We'll see. <v Speaker 2>I never played Metal Health Singer. It seemed like a <v Speaker 2>like it seems like the idea. Yeah, it seemed like <v Speaker 2>a good try an idea, do something different from everyone <v Speaker 2>else and stand out like and they did that, and <v Speaker 2>it seems like a lot of people did actually pick <v Speaker 2>up on it and enjoy it. Again, was well reviewed, <v Speaker 2>So yeah, it's a shame, I bet though. It's like, Okay, <v Speaker 2>reached a certain level of success, and we want to <v Speaker 2>see this level of success. <v Speaker 1>To just get out of here. <v Speaker 2>That's the story of gaming right now. Red Dead Redemption <v Speaker 2>two is PS five, Xbox Series and Switch two versions <v Speaker 2>are still happening. That's according to Nate the Hate. That <v Speaker 2>sounds about right to me because Red Dead Redemption two <v Speaker 2>on PS four and PS and Xbox one that version <v Speaker 2>is the version that you can still get on modern consoles, <v Speaker 2>and it then it's still locked to thirty frames per second. <v Speaker 3>So it's like, yeah, they will probably unleash that game <v Speaker 3>in some new way here pretty soon. <v Speaker 1>Probably just with an update. <v Speaker 2>But yeah, then they release it on Switch To, which <v Speaker 2>is a twenty eighteen game that will make sense. I <v Speaker 2>don't know if I'm gonna replay it here. If I <v Speaker 2>replay that game, I'll try it on PC with some ods. <v Speaker 2>But yeah, they're gonna have Grand Theft Auto six next year, <v Speaker 2>So do you think this comes out like much sooner <v Speaker 2>than that. It's like not distract from it. <v Speaker 1>Maybe a January February thing that was, Yeah, that would <v Speaker 1>makes sense. <v Speaker 3>We can still continues to sell pretty well, actually even yes, <v Speaker 3>even still, so yeah, these updates will give it some juice. <v Speaker 3>You know, they definitely couldn't use some performance boosts. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I'd be cured. <v Speaker 3>I'm really curious to see how this game looks on <v Speaker 3>a switch to, because sometimes it is just a matter <v Speaker 3>of how much work you put into it, and we've <v Speaker 3>seen with like the GTA trilogy, sometimes even a company's <v Speaker 3>biggest take to just won't put that much work into it. <v Speaker 3>So I hope they do a good job here. <v Speaker 1>Yep. <v Speaker 2>Mina the Hollower delayed. Yacht Club Games has announced a <v Speaker 2>delay for Mina the Hollower. This is the shovel Night team. <v Speaker 2>They were going to release this game on Halloween, October <v Speaker 2>thirty first. They are now releasing it on unspecified date. <v Speaker 2>They've not given a date, but they did say that <v Speaker 2>they will tell everybody the date once they submit the <v Speaker 2>game to platforms. So they're trying to suggest here like <v Speaker 2>it is a quote unquote indefinite delay in that it's <v Speaker 2>not being defined. But it's not like, oh, we're taking <v Speaker 2>this thing down and we don't know when we're going <v Speaker 2>to put it back out. They just want to make <v Speaker 2>sure that it's really finished, really and actually submit it <v Speaker 2>to platforms ready to go, and they'll talk about it again. <v Speaker 2>So we're probably talking about a month or two, probably <v Speaker 2>still before the end of this year. <v Speaker 3>I absolutely having a fancy I'm sure they wanted to <v Speaker 3>hit Halloween. It's like, you know, it's a fitting release <v Speaker 3>date for a game that has some spooky vibes like this, <v Speaker 3>but it can also probably add pressure to feel like <v Speaker 3>you have to hit this day and maybe you're rushing <v Speaker 3>through certain things that you'd rather take your time on <v Speaker 3>and make sure a really good Uh. You know, we've <v Speaker 3>seen a lot of games now, Soak Song Haities two <v Speaker 3>the biggest indie games. You can imagine, they don't tell <v Speaker 3>you their release date until it's like a week or <v Speaker 3>two out, until they are too super certain stuff. <v Speaker 6>We'll just have one powerwash simulator just like a couple <v Speaker 6>of weeks from now. <v Speaker 3>I think now, like I think they're all like, why <v Speaker 3>bothers setting up a release date, Uh that we that <v Speaker 3>we might miss, probably will miss these days. <v Speaker 1>Let's uh just wait until we really know. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, they announce the state a bit ago, so it's <v Speaker 3>a bit of a bummer, but it's probably the right <v Speaker 3>thing for this game, almost certainly. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, now that you guys talk that out, it's like, oh, yeah, <v Speaker 2>that's exactly what these other companies did. They submitted it <v Speaker 2>to platforms, got the approval, and like, oh, okay, now <v Speaker 2>we know two weeks from now this game's coming out, <v Speaker 2>so yeah, we'll probably get exactly the same thing with Mina. <v Speaker 2>Last week after the show, Xbox raised the price of <v Speaker 2>game Pass. A Game Pass Ultimate will now cost thirty <v Speaker 2>dollars a month. It's the twenty dollars a month. There's <v Speaker 2>a whole bunch of caveats. It's going to be double <v Speaker 2>the price in some territories, it's going to be it's <v Speaker 2>not gonna have all the features that it once had <v Speaker 2>on like the middle tier. You no longer get Call <v Speaker 2>of Duty eventually added to the library. <v Speaker 1>But whatever. <v Speaker 2>The big highlight here is everything's getting more expensive. They <v Speaker 2>are no longer trying to find new users, They're trying <v Speaker 2>to make more money from the same users. You know, <v Speaker 2>there was kind of a seemed like a rush to <v Speaker 2>cancel this thing. I said I would, I still have <v Speaker 2>not I need to do that because I'm just not <v Speaker 2>using this at all. Really, you know, this is overall <v Speaker 2>kind of part of Hey, what's going on with Xbox? <v Speaker 2>Like how serious are they are they about anything that's <v Speaker 2>not Call of Duty or Minecraft or a handful of <v Speaker 2>other things. And it feels like they got to justify <v Speaker 2>what all the money they've spent, and that comes back <v Speaker 2>to we need to increase prices, and of course there's <v Speaker 2>tariffs and all these other things. <v Speaker 1>But I don't know. <v Speaker 2>Other companies are finding creative ways or working hard to <v Speaker 2>keep prices down, and Microsoft does not seem interested in <v Speaker 2>doing that. How are we feeling about game Pass. <v Speaker 3>It's it's just a it's rough at that price. Even <v Speaker 3>though gay Pass had a pretty good year when it <v Speaker 3>comes to releases, even though Microsoft Microsoft themselves don't have <v Speaker 3>much I mean, game Pass had Exhibition thirty three, they <v Speaker 3>had Soak Song, they had a lot of the biggest <v Speaker 3>games this year. It feels like it should be able <v Speaker 3>to ride this momentum. It just feels like, well, if <v Speaker 3>it's maybe it's ever going to work out. Then, I <v Speaker 3>don't know what you could possibly make game Pass work <v Speaker 3>for you as a business plan, aside from just constantly <v Speaker 3>raising the price to you know, they didn't just go <v Speaker 3>from twenty to five or you know, twenty to twenty five, <v Speaker 3>they're from twenty to thirty, a huge fifty percent increase. <v Speaker 3>It's almost just it's almost insulting that they would just <v Speaker 3>immediately jump it that high. They get so clear and <v Speaker 3>naked that they are just going after that ten percent <v Speaker 3>of their fan base that will show up no matter <v Speaker 3>what they do. They are hurting that brand so bad <v Speaker 3>right now. You know, even like some of the normies <v Speaker 3>in my life right like, boy Xbox is done. Huh, <v Speaker 3>Like that's becoming the narrative. It just feels like they <v Speaker 3>are a spiraling out of control. And even in an <v Speaker 3>industry that has a pretty short memory with these things, right, <v Speaker 3>we've seen other brands be at low points and then <v Speaker 3>climb to new heights again, it's so hard to imagine <v Speaker 3>how Xbox gets out of this quagmire. <v Speaker 1>But the remember go ahead, Jen well it just real quick. <v Speaker 1>But the thing is, it doesn't feel like they're making <v Speaker 1>any active or positive steps to get out of the quagmire. <v Speaker 1>It's not like they switch to their sand wedge web <v Speaker 1>Norman bomb dot com. <v Speaker 2>Everybody is that the name of the thing that is <v Speaker 2>Sandwichka think the open Face Club, the sand wedge opening. <v Speaker 1>Like with every new thing I see anyone from Xbox saying, <v Speaker 1>it's like it's just kind of it's beyond sweep swiping <v Speaker 1>or sweeping the problem under the rug because like the <v Speaker 1>rug is like just full of coffee stains. Shrug exactly. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>they're actively doing it, and like, what are y'all even <v Speaker 1>thinking about doing? Scout, I know you're working a ship rug. <v Speaker 3>A shrug, that's right, that's what That's what a ship <v Speaker 3>rug is called. I they I think they. <v Speaker 2>I think what happened is they had a bunch of <v Speaker 2>ideas to try. They tried them all and and the <v Speaker 2>whole time there's someone kind of behind them being like, Hey, <v Speaker 2>when's this thing going to really start popping off and <v Speaker 2>making real money? <v Speaker 1>And they're like, well, once we really get game Pass. <v Speaker 2>Going, and star fields are going to be once we <v Speaker 2>have once we have starfield, Yes, once this happens, what's that? <v Speaker 2>And then all these things happened, nothing really changed. I'm <v Speaker 2>not saying these things weren't scessful or people didn't like them. <v Speaker 2>A lot of that stuff did happen, but as far <v Speaker 2>as the people standing behind of Phil Spencer were concerned, <v Speaker 2>this thing is not really changing its stripes at all. <v Speaker 2>It is still kind of the business it has always been, <v Speaker 2>and even if it's growing, it's not growing the way <v Speaker 2>that we're seeing some spaces grow like AI. And so <v Speaker 2>they did, they tried everything, and they are basically out <v Speaker 2>of excuses and now they have to sort of give <v Speaker 2>in and turn into the thing that the people standing <v Speaker 2>behind them wanted it to be, which is pop out <v Speaker 2>only the most popular things going forward, cut a lot <v Speaker 2>of cost, cut a lot of studios that aren't making <v Speaker 2>call of duty, and we'll just kind of go from there. <v Speaker 2>So it's like, yeah, it is kind of shitting in <v Speaker 2>the bed because they don't have any choices left in <v Speaker 2>front of them, really, and that's a lot of that <v Speaker 2>is just the way that the industry is growing and <v Speaker 2>not growing and not selling a lot of consoles, but whatever. <v Speaker 2>They should have more answers to this than they just don't. <v Speaker 4>I remember when, like don't you remember right when this <v Speaker 4>really started to take shape in a way where everyone <v Speaker 4>was like, whoa, this seems like the greatest value in games, right. <v Speaker 4>The question was always how can they continue to do <v Speaker 4>this forever? That was the conversation when when game Pass <v Speaker 4>really presented, the most compelling case was, holy shit, there's <v Speaker 4>no way this makes sense financially. <v Speaker 1>What's the end game? <v Speaker 4>I'm gladly pay you now for this because it seems <v Speaker 4>like I'm getting a tremendous deal and you're the ones <v Speaker 4>getting fucked over. I guess this, But like, so to <v Speaker 4>me with with that, you know, information not left leaving <v Speaker 4>my mind. I'm not surprised, right, Like I could see <v Speaker 4>the other shoe dropped, right, It's like, yeah, the whole <v Speaker 4>idea is cornered the market at the lower price, get <v Speaker 4>everyone on the board of this idea, and then eventually <v Speaker 4>you raise the price because everyone's like, well, this is <v Speaker 4>how I play games, right, And that's like I worked <v Speaker 4>for Netflix and. <v Speaker 2>Amazon Prime and all these other things. Sure, it just <v Speaker 2>it didn't get big enough like those other ones did. <v Speaker 4>Well, and the miscalculation being there was never a you know, <v Speaker 4>the opportunity to like parlay this into you know, dot <v Speaker 4>dot dot profit question mark was never realized in a <v Speaker 4>meaningful way right. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, I feel like that's the shoe dropping. <v Speaker 1>Yeah. <v Speaker 5>I feel like back then it was either like this <v Speaker 5>is going to change the industry forever and now we <v Speaker 5>buy games and play games, or this is too good <v Speaker 5>to be true and this is it's gonna be on <v Speaker 5>borrowed time. <v Speaker 2>So yeah, even if it like is making a profit, <v Speaker 2>which they claim often that it does, you know, I <v Speaker 2>think that is a fancy math a lot of times, <v Speaker 2>like they aren't like really taking into consideration all the <v Speaker 2>things that go into the cost of running something like this. <v Speaker 2>But even if it is it is, it has clearly <v Speaker 2>not grown the way that they wanted it to. There <v Speaker 2>was that year that Phil Spencer and Satiinadella both had <v Speaker 2>their bonuses tied to Game Pass growth. Neither of them <v Speaker 2>got those bonuses. They were expecting, poor guys. They were <v Speaker 2>expecting huge numbers and it stalled out at around thirty <v Speaker 2>million subscribers. And you compare that to Disney Plus Netflix, <v Speaker 2>uh maybe even Paramount Plus, Like it's probably it's probably <v Speaker 2>not like all the all that great, and so it's <v Speaker 2>like they want that growth, that's what they're looking for. <v Speaker 2>The growth stopped even if it's profitable, which again we <v Speaker 2>don't know, but they say it is. But even if <v Speaker 2>it is not growing, that was that just told the <v Speaker 2>whole story right there. They're like, Okay, so now we're <v Speaker 2>getting bored with this. Let's change our direction. And here <v Speaker 2>we are, and so like what happens to this old <v Speaker 2>business model? Now that's no longer the shiny new thing <v Speaker 2>it is. We got to sort of raise prices because <v Speaker 2>we just need to make more money from it. And <v Speaker 2>they're putting in ub Soft Plus Classics, which everyone's been <v Speaker 2>clamoring for. Please give us our ub Soft Plus Classics, <v Speaker 2>is what the kids on the street are saying. And <v Speaker 2>they put in Fortnite Crew. It's called Fortnite Creue. Yeah, yeah, <v Speaker 2>the battle Pass thing or you know, you know. <v Speaker 3>Get the V Bucks and stuff like that, and yeah <v Speaker 3>for people to play. <v Speaker 2>Fortnite, like you're gonna be able to do some math here, <v Speaker 2>but be like, oh, I get these games, and I <v Speaker 2>get four Ande Crew, maybe I'll play Ubi Soft games. <v Speaker 2>Some people are gonna be able to justify it, but <v Speaker 2>most people, I think are just gonna see thirty dollars <v Speaker 2>say I'm. <v Speaker 3>Out of here, and we're not. <v Speaker 2>We're not done right. The price doesn't stop here, it's <v Speaker 2>going to be forty dollars a month. <v Speaker 3>That couple of years. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, like I thought they'd do like two dollars and <v Speaker 2>fifty cents per per increase, right, small five percent increases <v Speaker 2>here or there, a fifty percent increase and one go <v Speaker 2>is bananas, and it says, oh, we can just keep <v Speaker 2>going up from here, Like fifty dollars a month is <v Speaker 2>probably not off the table within the next ten years <v Speaker 2>for this thing, and maybe that's longer than really it <v Speaker 2>will take for them to get there. And then meanwhile, <v Speaker 2>because of all this, there's a lot of like bad <v Speaker 2>vibes around the Xbox brand. Some rumors began to spread <v Speaker 2>that they are kind of changing their plans for doing <v Speaker 2>a full on Xbox next Gen thing. There's been some <v Speaker 2>back and forth about this. Xbox did come out and <v Speaker 2>point out, hey, we have a deal with AMD to <v Speaker 2>make a system on a chip for our next hardware. <v Speaker 2>We are going to We're still in this. Now, what <v Speaker 2>exactly does that look like? Is it going to look <v Speaker 2>a lot like a traditional Xbox? Well, the rumors for <v Speaker 2>a long time have been no, it's going to be <v Speaker 2>a PC basically that has some Windows OS version on <v Speaker 2>it that makes it feel like a console. <v Speaker 3>I to me that I think that's still there. <v Speaker 2>Focus is make Windows based Xboxes and change up the <v Speaker 2>strategy in that way. But they claim that they're still <v Speaker 2>making Xboxes going forward. We've talked about that a bunch <v Speaker 2>of times. But I don't know what do you guys <v Speaker 2>even want or expect from the next Xbox. <v Speaker 1>I don't want anything. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, yeah, I can't imagine what I think i'd possibly <v Speaker 3>do to make it exciting anymore. Yeah, yeah, I mean, <v Speaker 3>I don't know. <v Speaker 4>I think they are a bit out of a crossroads <v Speaker 4>where it's like. <v Speaker 3>The time to Yeah, I don't know. <v Speaker 4>I always and maybe this is just like an antiquated <v Speaker 4>way to think any more, of like the combining of <v Speaker 4>like their their PC lane with the idea of owning <v Speaker 4>a console, where it's like, maybe Xbox is just an idea, <v Speaker 4>let alone a thing you can turn on and off. <v Speaker 4>I don't know, but it's certainly, especially as we end <v Speaker 4>this generation, having this kind of negative momentum is not <v Speaker 4>setting them up for anything. <v Speaker 2>Xbox is dedicated handheld. Meanwhile, that thing that was rumored <v Speaker 2>a long time ago, separate from the Asus Roger ally <v Speaker 2>Xbox X whatever the fuck it's called. <v Speaker 1>This is a separate from that. <v Speaker 2>There was rumors about why that was canceled, and it's <v Speaker 2>because apparently AMD was like, hey, we'll make you this chip, <v Speaker 2>you have to guarantee you you'll buy ten million of them. <v Speaker 2>An Xbox like, oh, well, you know the steam decks <v Speaker 2>only sold five million. We're afraid to commit to that now. <v Speaker 2>Jess Gordon's come on and said that the story is <v Speaker 2>not true. He didn't say exactly what part of the <v Speaker 2>story's not true, although I imagine it's this thing right <v Speaker 2>here where it's like AMD demanded ten million chips. That <v Speaker 2>sounds not right to me because AMD has definitely made <v Speaker 2>fewer chips for that for people before. But maybe something <v Speaker 2>about this requires so much effort that I don't know. <v Speaker 2>I mean, frankly, why wouldn't they just use something off <v Speaker 2>the shelf like everything else does Steam Deck the Roger <v Speaker 2>ally just use one of those and build your OSS <v Speaker 2>on top of that. None of that really sounds right <v Speaker 2>to me, But whatever, For some reason, Xbox did put <v Speaker 2>their handheld They're dedicated handheld on hold, which again says <v Speaker 2>to me, they're going to focus on the OS. We'll <v Speaker 2>see that Roger is that thing out out yet or <v Speaker 2>is it about to be a yeah, okay, uh and <v Speaker 2>then last thing here still Xbox. Virtuos is currently working <v Speaker 2>on a remake of Halo Combat Evolved. According to a rumor, <v Speaker 2>this is the team that that that did Metal Gear <v Speaker 2>Solid Delta. They did something else recently, They did Oblivion <v Speaker 2>with Xbox, and it sounds like they're gonna do something <v Speaker 2>similar here where they're going to take the underlying tech <v Speaker 2>of Halo Combat Evolved and then take the unreal Engine <v Speaker 2>five and apply that visual polish on top of that. <v Speaker 2>And Virtuous has some experience with that, so uh, It's <v Speaker 2>not not necessarily what I'm craving for, But but I think, <v Speaker 2>you know, this does give them a chance to maybe <v Speaker 2>buy Halo some time, reintroduce it to people who might <v Speaker 2>not be on board with that, and put it out <v Speaker 2>on PlayStation and Switch and sort of say, hey, like you, <v Speaker 2>maybe do you care about Halo. Shit, we do another <v Speaker 2>one of these, a new one of these, and put <v Speaker 2>it out everywhere. But I don't know, it just really <v Speaker 2>feels like Halo's time has passed. <v Speaker 1>But maybe I'm wrong. <v Speaker 3>I mean, they could always bounce back the boy. They <v Speaker 3>can't mess this one up, though. This thing has to <v Speaker 3>come out and be pretty pristine if they want to <v Speaker 3>repair Halo's image. And that Oblivion remake was pretty good, <v Speaker 3>but it was very heavy and it was not running <v Speaker 3>great on a lot of platforms, and I don't think <v Speaker 3>people are going to tolerate that. Again, this should be <v Speaker 3>an easier ass This isn't some giant open world game <v Speaker 3>like Oblivion is. It has open areas, for sure, but yeah, <v Speaker 3>they gotta nail this one. It can't look weird, it <v Speaker 3>can't run weird. It's gotta basically be Halo one, but <v Speaker 3>much prettier. It's gotta have all the multiplayer stuff people want. <v Speaker 3>The gunplay needs to feel just right. It sounds like <v Speaker 3>a safe thing to do and yet also a difficult ask. <v Speaker 1>And that does it for the news. Jan the show <v Speaker 1>is back over to you. Grab. Can I posit a <v Speaker 1>question to you? Please? What if they made Halo a <v Speaker 1>rogue light? I mean, that's a good idea. That's that'd <v Speaker 1>be fun, man, Yeah, let's do it. You know what <v Speaker 1>else is age light? <v Speaker 3>Yeah? <v Speaker 1>I fully agree with you. What sounds like a great <v Speaker 1>idea is taking a quick coffee break and then we'll <v Speaker 1>be back with emails. And super chats and who knows <v Speaker 1>what else we'll be back with. We'll see on the <v Speaker 1>other side. Rub It's okay, just look at it. Okay, <v Speaker 1>it's fine. Well wait, damn, what are you doing here? <v Speaker 6>Oh like like existentially or what do you mean? <v Speaker 1>No, Dan, like here a giant bomb covering games? <v Speaker 4>Oh? <v Speaker 6>Oh what I do for a living? Okay, Well, I'm <v Speaker 6>here because of Game Informer. <v Speaker 1>That's right. <v Speaker 5>Way back in nineteen ninety three, I saw a Game <v Speaker 5>in Former magazine and subscribed for the first time, and <v Speaker 5>it has been a huge part of my life ever since, <v Speaker 5>from you know, working the register at Funko Land and <v Speaker 5>selling subscriptions to starting working there full time in two <v Speaker 5>thousand and nine. Has been there for me the whole time. <v Speaker 5>They mean a ton to me, so it hurt me, <v Speaker 5>just like I know it hurt a lot of you. <v Speaker 5>When the unexpected news came down not too long ago <v Speaker 5>that Game Informer was shutting down. <v Speaker 6>But nay, fair not, I say that's right. <v Speaker 5>Game Informer is back, and with one hundred percent of <v Speaker 5>the staff that was there when it shut down. <v Speaker 1>Now, Danny boy, I see that you're holding a magazine <v Speaker 1>right there. Tell me about how that page feels. <v Speaker 5>I'm telling you, I have held hundreds upon hundreds of <v Speaker 5>Game Informer magazines from nineteen ninety three to today, and <v Speaker 5>this is, without a doubt the best. But I'm feeling <v Speaker 5>this right now. This is this is a smooth cover, <v Speaker 5>This is a thick, nice paper here, the print is <v Speaker 5>just this is a wonderful quality print magazine. It makes <v Speaker 5>my heart feel good. <v Speaker 2>And I know that Game Informer is a team that <v Speaker 2>I can rely on to say something substantial about games <v Speaker 2>and the people who make them, because GII has a <v Speaker 2>stellar crew of editors. <v Speaker 1>This these are people I. <v Speaker 2>Love to have on the couch at Giant Bomb at night, <v Speaker 2>for at Summer Game Fest. It's people I can always <v Speaker 2>rely to have something interesting to say. That's why I <v Speaker 2>know when they have those excellent cover stories, just like <v Speaker 2>they always did and always will continue to do. So <v Speaker 2>it's going to be some of the best coverage in <v Speaker 2>video games. <v Speaker 1>And another fun bonus, Game Informer donates five percent of <v Speaker 1>every subscription purchase directly to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital. <v Speaker 5>You know, earlier this year the future seemed very uncertain <v Speaker 5>for both Game Informer and Giant Bomb. That's putting it <v Speaker 5>mildly and as someone whose life in gaming hobby has <v Speaker 5>been greatly impacted by both of those outlets, I am <v Speaker 5>thrilled that we are both back and doing our thing online, <v Speaker 5>in your podcast apps and in print in your hand. <v Speaker 5>That is right, gaming news, reviews, everything in between, sent <v Speaker 5>straight to your mailbox every month. Cut from quotes from Craig Stadler <v Speaker 3>and Pebble Beach Golf links. <v Speaker 1>Well, let's just do this whole segment again. Email's first <v Speaker 1>email comes from David from St. Charles, Illinois. Hey, dudes, <v Speaker 1>every now and then, I asked myself dumb questions that <v Speaker 1>asking out loud would likely get dumb looks. I routinely <v Speaker 1>asked myself what do other people do when with their <v Speaker 1>other arm when brushing their teeth? The reason I ask <v Speaker 1>is because sometimes I notice myself clenching a fist for <v Speaker 1>the entire duration, sometimes just passively scratching, or sometimes just dangling. <v Speaker 1>Most everyone else likely has never thought about this, but <v Speaker 1>I'm curious what others say. David from Saint Charles, Dan dangle, <v Speaker 1>just like you know, hanging, I do? What do you do? Phone? <v Speaker 7>No? <v Speaker 4>No, that's only when I'm pissing at a urinal in public. <v Speaker 4>Jan No, I, I just I have like my fort <v Speaker 4>it's like straightened out up against the counter, just sort <v Speaker 4>of like I make it straight, kind of like working <v Speaker 4>it out a little bit, hands on the sink, like <v Speaker 4>straight down to like support yourself for Yeah, just kind <v Speaker 4>of like lean into. <v Speaker 3>It, give it a little stretchy pooh. <v Speaker 6>I'll brush my teeth and figure this out. Is there <v Speaker 6>something fish he does? <v Speaker 1>He could have just pretended to do it. He didn't <v Speaker 1>have to. <v Speaker 3>In the stream, before he gets back, we clean, like <v Speaker 3>or clean the sink bowl as we're brushing. Yeah, I <v Speaker 3>sometimes I do. I walk around and do other stuff too. Yeah. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I'll clean the mirror a little bit while. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, maybe trim an eyebrow, pluck a. <v Speaker 1>Couple I can't do that with the lefty, No way. <v Speaker 3>Jam. <v Speaker 4>When he comes back, just tell him we moved on <v Speaker 4>and whatever he has to say is irrelevant. <v Speaker 1>I mean we're gonna have to We're not going to <v Speaker 1>wait for him to come back. Of course, do you <v Speaker 1>think he's out there right now brushing his teeth instead <v Speaker 1>of bringing it over here. No, I think he's going <v Speaker 1>to think there because he wants to know okay. Well, <v Speaker 1>next email comes from pile from Sorry, we moved on, <v Speaker 1>We moved on. It was so interesting. No, no, okay, <v Speaker 1>we told Sean to cut that email from No, you <v Speaker 1>don't deserve No. I had a revelation that you're not <v Speaker 1>going to know. I got my Keith. <v Speaker 3>You're so bad. <v Speaker 1>What a sucker? A sucker. I'm not saying for. <v Speaker 3>No amount of Bullshitna, No. <v Speaker 1>No, you're done. Move on, move on, move on, move <v Speaker 1>on yourself. That very little Golf Week. <v Speaker 3>God, thank you? <v Speaker 1>Email okay. Email address emails to Cale from scotlet right <v Speaker 1>said Hey, gang, in honor of Golf Week, which video <v Speaker 1>game location would make the best golf course? And which <v Speaker 1>character would you want to be your caddy for a <v Speaker 1>round of golf? Thanks Kyle. <v Speaker 3>Apparently the What Walk About Golf has a missed golf course. <v Speaker 3>I don't know how we missed that. Yeah, morning missed <v Speaker 3>the block. But yeah, we weren't going to put you <v Speaker 3>in VR. You get dizzy? <v Speaker 1>Oh that's VR. Yeah you should play VR. You like <v Speaker 1>I'm going to I'm gonna do. <v Speaker 3>I'm gonna find the mis court, So that actually would <v Speaker 3>be a great golf course. <v Speaker 1>That's like the right answer. <v Speaker 4>I think I think Mallard Duck has the right answer <v Speaker 4>in Green Hill Zone is like the perfect. <v Speaker 3>Like that. <v Speaker 1>Shadow Moses, Shadow Moses would be cool. Right Sega did <v Speaker 1>a tennis game? <v Speaker 3>Did they do a golf game with golf? <v Speaker 1>Be good? That had been awesome, just says Breath of <v Speaker 1>the Wild. Jesus h golf mini game in there the <v Speaker 1>most thing. Yeah, ye holes, yeah you went. I'm one <v Speaker 1>from Doom's funny answers for this. <v Speaker 5>I like this. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, the Spencer mansion that makes no sense putt putt though, <v Speaker 3>will be more putt putt fitting. Yeah, that'd be good. <v Speaker 1>Silent Hill for golf. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, the big crocodile fish then comes out and bites <v Speaker 2>your ball. <v Speaker 4>Yeah. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, they should actually make a residevil Minnie golf spin. <v Speaker 1>Actually, that'd be great. That'd be cool. I love that <v Speaker 1>Silent Hill would be challenging because it would just be <v Speaker 1>nothing but fog all the time. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, no visibility, like Silent Hill is so fog based, <v Speaker 3>And we didn't have a Silent Hill game in the <v Speaker 3>N sixty four, the most foggy console of all time. <v Speaker 1>Surprising. <v Speaker 3>I think about that a lot. <v Speaker 5>Think about it all the time, keeps me up at <v Speaker 5>night is going to be like you know what Bill <v Speaker 5>Murray said to Scarlett Johansson and yeah lost in translation, <v Speaker 5>there's gonna be like, there's gonna be like essays. <v Speaker 1>About whatever you could tell anyone. <v Speaker 3>I don't care. <v Speaker 1>You could never tell Mike. <v Speaker 3>I'm not gonna tell anyone, Okay, if that's fine. <v Speaker 1>Definitely not Mike. <v Speaker 3>No, are you over it? Mike? <v Speaker 5>Or no? <v Speaker 1>No, no, he's not. God it must be did your <v Speaker 1>brothers fuck with you? Oh? <v Speaker 6>Yeah, okay, man, if you were my younger brother, I would. <v Speaker 3>Just be going down every day, not as much as <v Speaker 3>others outside. Chris, my younger brother did it the most. <v Speaker 3>Oh yeah, yeah, he's well, you're not the youngest that <v Speaker 3>you can't do it. He's the middle. He's not how <v Speaker 3>it's supposed to work. <v Speaker 1>I'm aware. <v Speaker 2>How it's like needs the most attention and stuff like that. <v Speaker 4>What a huge what a huge win for your youngest brother, <v Speaker 4>he Chris, Yeah, right, friend Tom from London rights and <v Speaker 4>hi guys, I decided, rather than keeping up with all <v Speaker 4>the excellent game releases in twenty twenty five, Silk Song, <v Speaker 4>Haities two, et. <v Speaker 1>Cetera, I'm gonna save a ghost of Yotay for the <v Speaker 1>holiday break at the end of the year, he feels <v Speaker 1>like a good holiday game. Any of you have any <v Speaker 1>memorable holiday games or are you saving any games for <v Speaker 1>the holiday break? Cheers Tom from London. <v Speaker 5>First Metrod Prime was I remember it was that Christmas <v Speaker 5>I got the Platform Cube and Metrod Prime like bundle <v Speaker 5>and it was like, oh. <v Speaker 3>That was perfect. <v Speaker 1>M that's a good one. I can't think of anything specific. <v Speaker 3>I could see myself really digging into Yo Tai that <v Speaker 3>is the one like during the holiday break perhaps, but gosh, yeah, <v Speaker 3>I can't like distinguish in my mind, like when was <v Speaker 3>that when I sat down to play this game a lot? <v Speaker 3>When was it? I remember the one year on Thanksgiving <v Speaker 3>I spent a lot of it just watching D Space <v Speaker 3>nine the video game. <v Speaker 1>I don't know. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I told the one about Donkey Kung Country Thanksgiving <v Speaker 2>a bunch, So this year I will I got someone <v Speaker 2>mentioned Super Super Mario Galaxy to you, saving that for <v Speaker 2>the holiday. <v Speaker 1>I think I might do that as well. <v Speaker 2>That's that sounds real good this year, like, okay, get <v Speaker 2>the time off, maybe the Thanksgiving break even although I'll <v Speaker 2>probably still be catching up on games at that point, <v Speaker 2>so probably Christmas. <v Speaker 1>Indiana Jones was a good holiday game from last year <v Speaker 1>for me. Yeah, yeah, I really like that. <v Speaker 3>And like Metric Prime for is kind of coming out <v Speaker 3>in that slot this year, so that could be that <v Speaker 3>for sure, could be real good. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, Okay, a couple more emails here. Caleb from London <v Speaker 1>as well also writes in Dear BombCast ex Manchester United <v Speaker 1>legend Wayne Rooney recent tribute recently attributed the team's success, <v Speaker 1>including winning the Premier League, to the socom PSP game. Yeah. <v Speaker 1>This is because during travel the team would play the <v Speaker 1>game together, which he felt enhanced their communication and teamwork <v Speaker 1>in a way which improved results on the pitch. My <v Speaker 1>question is have you ever heard any other celebrity who <v Speaker 1>have attributed any of their success to video games? And <v Speaker 1>do you personally feel there were games which developed a <v Speaker 1>skill which was useful or relevant to you outside of <v Speaker 1>video games. Keep up the fantastic work, Caleb. <v Speaker 3>There was that NASCAR driver recently who like did some <v Speaker 3>where you like grinded the wall and then he's like, yeah, <v Speaker 3>I learned that in the GameCube now car games the <v Speaker 3>price it worked, Yeah, and it didn't like. <v Speaker 2>He went from like he was not going to like <v Speaker 2>make the playoff or something, and then because he did that, <v Speaker 2>he went up like seven spots and made the playoff <v Speaker 2>at the playoffs. <v Speaker 3>It really worked. <v Speaker 1>It's crazy. <v Speaker 2>And then they banned the move because it worked too well. <v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, it's kind of super dangerous. <v Speaker 3>Isn't that what the grandt Tourismo movie is trying to say? <v Speaker 1>Pretty much? <v Speaker 2>Movie is like a true story about a guy who <v Speaker 2>is good good in Grand turismo and like want a <v Speaker 2>competition to become a real race car driver, and then <v Speaker 2>became a really good race car driver. <v Speaker 1>I guess I don't know how true. <v Speaker 2>That is, but I want to still do this business <v Speaker 2>of Uh, there's an important thing in all sports footwork <v Speaker 2>of being able to move your feet around and be <v Speaker 2>able to like kind of like move like without like <v Speaker 2>thinking about it too much, and kind of being fast <v Speaker 2>on your toes And there is nothing better for practicing that. <v Speaker 2>And I don't think they've ever like, there's no one <v Speaker 2>in sports that has actually realized this. <v Speaker 3>DDR. <v Speaker 2>Getting good at DDR would make a quarterback better like <v Speaker 2>running backs, like kind of like really any sport, I bet, <v Speaker 2>being able to fastly quickly shift your weight from one <v Speaker 2>side to the other without without really thinking I think <v Speaker 2>that would be like one of those things where you <v Speaker 2>could like run like a oh, I'm gonna help little <v Speaker 2>lingers get better at baseball or whatever, and charge parents <v Speaker 2>way too much money just to play DDR and be <v Speaker 2>like yeah, yeah, just play that. <v Speaker 1>I know what I'm talking about. So yeah, I think <v Speaker 1>that could really work. <v Speaker 4>I think, uh, it doesn't always translate, but I do <v Speaker 4>think sports games obviously not the skill of the sport, <v Speaker 4>but understanding the broad strokes of the game and strategy <v Speaker 4>I think is helpful. You know, Like, you know, there's <v Speaker 4>a lot like right now, with the age that deplays <v Speaker 4>hockey at, you've got a lot of kids who like <v Speaker 4>clearly watch a lot of hockey and kids who clearly don't. <v Speaker 4>So there is a lot of positioning there that I think, <v Speaker 4>you know, makes a lot of sense. But yeah, I <v Speaker 4>don't know, like actual you've heard it before. I do <v Speaker 4>thinking the way Rooney's describing it, where it's like attributing <v Speaker 4>a mechanism of like communication, right, yeah, sure, Like this <v Speaker 4>is the thing that kept me sane, cooperation separate from like, <v Speaker 4>oh I learned how to grind rails by playing right, <v Speaker 4>of course. <v Speaker 1>I had a friend that like picked up the drums <v Speaker 1>because of rock band and always like a pretty decent <v Speaker 1>drummer like before Homie could not keep rhythm for shit. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, I think for rock band specifically, that's probably the <v Speaker 4>only instrument you can really well, aside keeping time. <v Speaker 3>Man Rocksmith, which is like actual guitars. Right really, it's <v Speaker 3>always more like a guitar learning software than it is. <v Speaker 1>Right right, all right. Last email of the show comes <v Speaker 1>from Matt from Mesa, Hey, big Bamo boys. You know <v Speaker 1>that oh deer diner thermis that keeps selling out for <v Speaker 1>Alan awake too? What if Luca dear diner thermos importantly <v Speaker 1>not a mug, but it also holds coffee. <v Speaker 3>And it's a dumb video game slash GB joke. <v Speaker 1>Years Matt for Mason. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, thermiss are cool. <v Speaker 1>I got no. I have no issue with thermises. <v Speaker 3>Everybody. Let it be known because they don't impact it, <v Speaker 3>don't chatter on impact or through shipping. Yes, exactly. I <v Speaker 3>got one from SGF when I saw the theater demo <v Speaker 3>of actually that they note it later. So yeah, I <v Speaker 3>do have one, and it's very nice. Yes, and I <v Speaker 2>could like see like how many of them I could <v Speaker 2>complete a round in or whatever, because I. <v Speaker 3>Would love it for just like stop and shift right. <v Speaker 1>In the middle of a swing. That'd be really fun. <v Speaker 5>Would definitely, I mean, you could set it to be like, <v Speaker 5>you know whatever, your one second to one minute intervals randomly. <v Speaker 1>Oh man, all right, man, I might look into that. <v Speaker 3>Grog says, what if Mike never takes that shirt off <v Speaker 3>all week? Yeah, look after this one is probably gonna <v Speaker 3>get a wash, now, you know, I got to make <v Speaker 3>sure everybody knows. <v Speaker 1>But yeah, do you know all kidding? <v Speaker 3>Is that? <v Speaker 4>Do you know if it's like a air dry only <v Speaker 4>I feel like it might be one of those. <v Speaker 3>I don't think it's air dry, No, okay, I think <v Speaker 3>I think it just goes in with a normal wash. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, hey, buy two shirts then they're disposable folks by <v Speaker 1>five right now so that you destroy it clear? We'll probably have to <v Speaker 3>do something Mario. <v Speaker 1>No, well asked the you brought us up. <v Speaker 3>That's a question now, like do we play Mario party <v Speaker 3>because it's the tradition it's kind of funny, how it's bullshit? <v Speaker 3>Or do we play Lego party because it's better and <v Speaker 3>more fun. <v Speaker 1>We could have an incentive and people can just like animals. <v Speaker 6>Yeah, is it a Lego party party or a Mario <v Speaker 6>party party? <v Speaker 1>I like that. <v Speaker 3>Yeah. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, it's like the trolley problem, Like we just have the. <v Speaker 6>Incentive be the party party, and then we have to <v Speaker 6>run the thing once. <v Speaker 1>Its both at the same time. <v Speaker 3>I don't care what a think about it. <v Speaker 1>Dan No, no, don't let him think about it.
