Drake Maye for MVP? Week 10 NFL Recap + Joey McGuire On Texas Tech’s BYU Win & The Transfer Portal
Will Compton and Taylor Lewan are joined by former NFL star and current FOX analyst Greg Olsen to break down all the action from Week 10 of the NFL season.
The Boys and Olsen discuss the New England Patriots’ resurgence and Drake Maye’s rise as a legitimate MVP candidate. Greg also shares his thoughts on the Tush Push, explaining why he loves the play and believes it shouldn’t be banned. The crew debates whether the NFC might actually be stronger than the AFC, and they dive into big storylines around the Seahawks, Rams, and the Dolphins’ upset win over the Bills and Josh Allen.
Later, Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire joins the show to recap the Red Raiders’ incredible season so far — including their big win over BYU, how they’re navigating the transfer portal, and McGuire’s coaching ties with Matt Rhule.
Finally, The Boys recap a wild Week 11 in college football, where the ACC may have reshaped the playoff picture. They debate whether Fernando Mendoza or Julian Sayin should be the Heisman frontrunner and break down the Indiana–Ohio State matchup and other key games from the weekend.

All right, boys, let's get to the show. 00:02:09 Speaker 1: Packer's mind life. Do you do you like keep up with the college football world? 00:02:13 Speaker 5: I mean I watch it casually. I don't study it or follow it to in depth. 00:02:17 Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's so much fun to watch college football knowing. 00:02:23 Speaker 6: It's a great product. It's just a mess of a sport. 00:02:26 Speaker 2: Knowing as much as you know about college football, or or just football in general, when you watch college you see all these idiotic mistakes taking place, so all these crazy explosives happen. It is so entertaining. The NFL. It's just it's so put together, that's the thing. It's like the good teams are just gonna play good ball, continue to win, do their thing. Like you watch the Patriots, it's like they don't make mistakes. They have their explosive runs here and there the other exploit, but it's like they're just gonna keep trudge along. They might be the best team is Mike Vrabel. 00:02:58 Speaker 1: You're coach of the year right now? Greg? 00:03:00 Speaker 5: Yeah, I think so, I think And again I'm not sure if they have the roster. I think there's a lot of people saying, you know, they're gonna win the Super Bowl. I'm not there yet. I think obviously they're a great story. I think Drake may finds himself in the top, you know, probably three guys in the MVP race, three or four. I can make an argument that are all kind of in it together. I think Varebel is the front runner byle I can't. I'm trying to think who would even be McDonald? 00:03:30 Speaker 6: McDonald. 00:03:31 Speaker 5: I guess the reason Verbel. I guess the reason Verebel holds it for me is just considering obviously he's just getting started. Yeah, you know, like he's just he's brand new, and and how bad they've been prior. It's not so much that they're good, it's how fast they've gotten good. I think we saw elements of Seattle last year, even though the offense was a bit disjointed, and obviously he McDonald realized pretty quickly that he had to get that figured out bringing in Kubiak. But yeah, that's what That's what gives the lead in my mind to Vrabel, just how good he's gotten a team that's been bad for I mean, they've been like bad, bad for multiple seasons prior to him getting there. 00:04:12 Speaker 1: Yeah, who oh, yeah, I forget he does. He's probably got o port NOOI say they're gonna win the super Bowl, but let me ask you this his video, his video with Robert Kraft in the suite. 00:04:24 Speaker 5: Hey, listen, they are good. I'm just I'm not there. I'm not ready to say they're going to win the super Bowl yet. 00:04:30 Speaker 2: Yeah. 00:04:30 Speaker 1: Super Bowl is a stretch. 00:04:31 Speaker 2: The only thing holding them back is a roster because they really they have the buy in. They play, they play the game well, but it's like, at what point do you get overwhelmed because they just they actually just don't have the talent on the roster to be like, Okay, this is a super Bowl contending team, but they Drake May I mean, imagine if he had like number one wide receivers not not Stefan Diggs is coming off in a cl not Boody, who you know, kind of has been like a you don't really know what he is. He's a two or is he a three? He's just who It doesn't matter who's out there. He is just putting the ball where it needs to be. 00:05:04 Speaker 1: Tight En Henry. Let me ask you guys something. If the Patriots win the a f C East, and let's just say they're three four lost team and there are one seed in the a f C, how do you not give Drake May the m v P if he continues to play at the level, Like I don't know, who's in your mind probably. 00:05:23 Speaker 6: Think if he gets the number one seed, I think you do. 00:05:26 Speaker 2: The not the knock, because I agree, but the knock is going to be their schedule because everyone even when you put out I know it's the NFL, but even when I tweeted out yesterday, the Patriots are the best team in the NFL, and all all the people that are anti Patriots is just all the conversation is revolving around their schedule and how bad it is because they what they were fourth last year in the AFC East, So your fourth obviously you're playing against all the other fourth as well. 00:05:51 Speaker 1: And I just think, so you got him winning the super Bowl. If you're saying that the. 00:05:53 Speaker 2: Best I think the best team in the NFL right now, I think the I think the Super Bowl winner is going to come out of the NFC West. 00:06:00 Speaker 1: You think the Patriots right now are playing at a higher level than the Rams than the Seahawks. 00:06:04 Speaker 2: I think they're playing at a higher level. Yes, from what they have, they are doing more with less than the other team. Drake may is playing MVP caliber right now, November tenth, whatever day it is, They're the best team in the NFL. Even though I mean the Seahawks put a crazy display on defense and offense, and Sam Donald's playing credible. I think eventually the Patriots are going to lose. They're going to lose one or two or even three more games, even with the easy schedule they have. I Sean McVay, McDonald, those are the two coaches that I see hoisting Lombardi at this point going into the Super Bowl. 00:06:39 Speaker 1: It's a mind twist right there. I got Seattle on the Rams better than the if they played tomorrow. I got Seattle and the Rams both beating the Patriots. 00:06:48 Speaker 2: I agree, God Seattle, Seattle. 00:06:50 Speaker 5: We talked about I think we talked about this last week that coming into the season, the presumption. 00:06:55 Speaker 6: Was the AFC had all the heavy. 00:06:58 Speaker 5: Hitters, right know, the three big horse you know, m VP guys with Lamar, Josh Allen and and Mahomes. And then the next tier of a FC teams that everyone thought were on the rise. I mean, I think everyone Denver has I guess the best record. Aren't they right now the best? I don't think anyone pretends that they're the best team in the conference. I don't think that's if you've watched them play at. 00:07:26 Speaker 1: Last week. 00:07:27 Speaker 2: I mean, after that game was easy to jump ship. 00:07:28 Speaker 6: Sorry, no, no, So. 00:07:30 Speaker 5: I think coming into the season, right it's always been where do all the heavy hitting quarterbacks lie. They've they've lied in the a f C. Now they've got another one in Drake May. But I think right now, the best teams, the best balanced offense, defense, passing, game coaching. I think the best teams are in the NFC. I think the depth of quality NFC teams, even if all the superstar name quarterbacks might be on the other, you know, in the a f C. I think the Rams, I think Seattle. I still think Philly's going to be in it down the stretch, just because they've got their rosters so good and they've been there before. You know, you could. I still think Green Bay is going to be in the mix when it all comes. You know, Tonight's game is going to be awesome. 00:08:14 Speaker 1: Detroit. 00:08:16 Speaker 5: Detroit's still going to be in the mix. Dan Campbell takes over play calling. They score a thousand points in five hundred yards, so it's uh. I just I think the quality Tampa Bay. I think if they ever get all of their guys back healthy. I know they lost obviously yesterday to New England, but you know it feels like that's a roster that just needs to get some of their guys back and their contender. I mean, you look at the potentially the seven teams out of the NFC in the playoffs, I think you can make an argument that all seven, regardless if you're the seventh while you're the seventh seed wildcard or the number one seed with the bye, I think you can make an argument you could see all of them making a run. 00:08:54 Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I would agree with that absolutely. Yeah. I just the thing about the Patriots that right now making the best team to me is the balance they have on offense. Like Drake May has been outstanding throwing a deep ball. But I know this conversation always goes back to the run game, Greg, but they ran the ball effectively. They had explosives. Was it Henderson? Is that his name? Henderson? Two explosives, two touchdowns, the fact that he's as fast as he is, he's able to look over the silence. 00:09:20 Speaker 1: Should I score? 00:09:20 Speaker 2: Should I not score? Like that, that team, to me is playing the best football in the NFL. Right now we're going I mean, did you guys were able to watch the Seattle Cardinals game? No, that was incredible. The game was just watching Seattle and then being able to take over in the first quarter. Was I think they scored their twenty first point like three seconds into the second. 00:09:43 Speaker 1: Quarter, because then they have a defensive touchdown. 00:09:45 Speaker 2: They had two defensive touchdowns. It was Knight who caused both fumbles, and it was DeMarcus Lawrence who picked up the ball both times and scored touchdowns. And like the players were like identical. I might have been the same as thatc Blitz. And then the first drive obviously Sam Donald goes in those at the JSN. Who's putting up numbers that no one's ever seen before. He's on pace to break the record. Like that was a fun, fun game to watch. 00:10:09 Speaker 1: How do you go out? 00:10:12 Speaker 6: No go ahead? No go ahead? I was just gonnaga. I was going to say, you said. 00:10:16 Speaker 1: Just to look ahead the next weekend because Rams got Seattle next weekend. 00:10:19 Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I got the game. 00:10:21 Speaker 1: Oh what do you what do you think? 00:10:24 Speaker 5: It's the best game of the season from a pure from a pure football team standpoint, coaching, rosters, quarterback play, all of it, style of play. I think I think through eleven weeks it's the best. 00:10:40 Speaker 6: It's the best. Now can the game live up to it? Who knows. 00:10:42 Speaker 5: We've had some incredible, fun, dramatic games, great endings, overtimes, so who knows if it lives up to that. But just the billing of the matchup, two of the best three teams at worst for two of the best four at worst in the entire league going going up against each other. I am thrilled that we got this game. And they're two of my favorite teams to study. I think the style in which they play, they're both using that big personnel stuff we talked about at length last week. 00:11:12 Speaker 6: We talked about Seattle's doing. 00:11:13 Speaker 5: It out of twelve and the Rams are The Rams have been an eleven three wide receiver team for a thousand years, and all of a sudden, now they're in thirteen, big jumbo personnel, big bodies, and they're just wearing teams out. I think it's a fascinating storyline, both teams, both quarterbacks. I think it's the through eleven games, the game of the year. 00:11:35 Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I agree. Who would you have? Who would you edge it out to going into this game? 00:11:41 Speaker 5: I'd have to tell you on Friday. I haven't started, like really diving in and studying them just yet. I've had each team once, but real early in the season, I had the Rams in that game that they really played well through the first half, and then Philly came to life blocked a couple of those field goals there at the end to beat the Rams in Philly early. And then I had the week one game of Seattle, so it was the first game of Kubiak, first game of Sam Darnold. They lost at home to the forty nine ers. So it's been a while since I've actually studied them and had them. I just watched them from afar, But I think they're both really good. Come Friday, I can give you a better assessment. But man, it's the best matchup bar none. 00:12:28 Speaker 1: Staying in the NFC previewing tonight's game with the Packers Eagles, who do you see coming out on top of there in Green Bay. 00:12:36 Speaker 5: I saw a stat that Green Bay hasn't lost back to back games in like twelve years or something outrageous, So you know, I always kind of look at those stats with a grain of salt because, like, none of these guys were ever a part of that twelve year run. But we saw green Bay stink it up. I was there live called it in that loss to the Panthers. So I expect them to bounce back. I expect them to be a little bit more aggressive offensively at home. I've just seen Philly too many times be look dead to rights and then you look up in the fourth quarter and they're winning. They're just such a hard team to beat traditionally over the last couple of years. If you put a gun to my head right now, I think Philly's, Philly wins. But I think Green Bay looks light years better than they did last week. I think they take the the Governor off. I think they put the game in Jordan Love's hand. Let him go out there and be the dynamic passer that he is. Don't play the style of all these other teams want to and muddy it up. Is the weather going to be nice? I have no idea is they're going to be a decent night in Lambeau. Do you guys have any idea, no clue. 00:13:45 Speaker 1: Let's pretend that it is a little chilly. 00:13:47 Speaker 6: Oh yeah, yeah, things a little bit. 00:13:51 Speaker 5: But if it's a neutral, normal day and they can you know, they can let it rip and throw it, I think, uh, I mean, I have to imagine that a hell of a lot better than they did last week against Panthers. 00:14:03 Speaker 2: I dude, I got a question for you, just from a broadcasting standpoint, when you obviously you're one of the best in the game now, but when you were first starting and you would catch a game like that Packers Panthers game last week, was there like a new level of stress when we'd be like, yo, this game's lotless, kind of shitty. There's nothing really to talk about, whether there's like a panic mode in the second half or was it always kind of just easy for you to go through everything. 00:14:27 Speaker 6: No, those are the worst. Those are the worst games, right. 00:14:30 Speaker 5: So that's the irony of calling games is you know you're never gonna make everybody happy. Everybody thinks when you're negative or critical of their team or a decision that you don't like the coach or you have history with the organization, or you know it's because of some random game earlier in your career and you've hated the team ever since. It's all nonsense, right, Like we call games that we hope are competitive, we want them to be dramatic. We want them to be a one possession game in the fourth. 00:14:56 Speaker 6: Quarter and have a little drama. 00:14:57 Speaker 5: Now, the Packers Panthers game last week was that it was a game winning walk off field goal, so there was drama. It was just it's just bad ball, right, There's not a lot of points. Nobody can score touchdowns. It's a rock fight, it's one hundred handoffs. It's just it's not entertaining football. But the saving grace is the end. The ending can sometimes save a game that wasn't overly cooperative throughout. And I think that's as a broadcaster, that's all we care about. We don't care who wins who loses. We don't have narratives, we don't out we don't, you know, determine the outcome of the game. People think we're calling for penalties or not, like we call it as we see it. I could care, I couldn't care less who wins, but we do want drama. We do want close games. We want the game to come down to the end and be situational and managing the clock and managing timeouts, and that the strategy that comes out of drama, at least to me personally, is like, those are the games I live for. We've been very lucky this year. We've had a million great endings, had one yesterday in Chicago coming back and the forth to beat the Giants, So that that's what we pull for. But those real clunky games, especially the blowouts, it's a challenge, right You kind of the blowouts turn into a daytime talk radio show and you just start covering random topics throughout the league. The game really is just going on in the background. In the second half when it's a thirty point blowout. 00:16:25 Speaker 1: We're talking about bad football. What the hell happened at the Panthers bro dropping against the Saints? 00:16:31 Speaker 5: Yeah, that that was bad. I mean, listen to. 00:16:36 Speaker 1: Kind of one where you're like sitting there like, oh, you know, could the could the Panthers be a fun story in the division? 00:16:45 Speaker 5: I know, I I man, I had a bad feeling all week, you know. I mean, you guys have been on these teams right, Like, let's be honest here, we've all been in locker rooms that all of a sudden you get a taste of your first winning as that group, right, guys have had success in random places. But maybe that group of guys has not experienced a ton of success. No matter how you fight it, there is an element in the NFL to learn how to have a little success, whether that's individually, whether that's collectively as a locker room. And all of a sudden, the Panthers look and there one game over five hundred, they just beat you know, they just beat the Packers, who people thought was an NFC contender on the road in Lambeau, And you start feeling pretty good about yourself and you start thinking that teams are beneath you. And obviously the Saints are coming into Carolina as a one win team at the time, and on their rookie quarterback they bench Rattler and that. 00:17:38 Speaker 6: So it's amazing how quickly you. 00:17:40 Speaker 5: Can forget your past, and you can forget just the reality and just say, you know what, let's just. 00:17:46 Speaker 6: Stay locked in on what we're doing. One week. We have not arrived. 00:17:49 Speaker 5: We are not that good, right, Like all those things that you had to constantly remind yourself as a player. The teams that can sustain winning over long periods of time, there is an art to learning how to deal with success and learning how to deal with expectations. When you're the underdog and you're just a fun story and if you show up and upset the better team, great, but no one expects anything from you. That's actually an easy way to play. And I think for a lot of these teams that are just now starting to experience success, it takes a little time for them to get accustomed to it. 00:18:20 Speaker 1: Yeah, and takes some success right now. The Chicago Bears, they went like, there was the last seven. Yeah, there's six and three right now. 00:18:28 Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's just wild too. I wonder how that game. I mean, they were up Jackson Dark he runs like a QB power to the left side, right, gets a little concussion, gets a little conkyed, and they're up by ten at that point. Am I correcting? Is that right? 00:18:43 Speaker 6: Yeah? 00:18:43 Speaker 5: It was seventeen to seven, So seventeen seven they're driving. They're either on the fringe of the red zone or in the red zone. They were give or take twenty plus side. I can't remember exactly the. 00:18:54 Speaker 6: Yard line he ran. 00:18:56 Speaker 5: He had run the ball really well, he had already run for two touchdowns prior, and he ran a play, got into the open field and CJ. Gardner Johnson put a hit, but he didn't hit him in the head. He hit him dead on the left arm, which is decided. He was carrying the ball and the ball popped up. He grabbed it, and then he got driven and he like face planted into the turf and the ball popped out. 00:19:17 Speaker 6: So instead of them going. 00:19:19 Speaker 5: In at minimum to make it twenty to seven or potentially twenty four to seven, they get nothing, and then they the next oh and then the next drive they get the ball back, and so Chicago goes down kicks a field goal to make it seventeen to ten. Now in the fourth quarter, Russ takes over. He takes them the length of the field. They get down to fourth and goal, the one yard line to make it up seventeen ten. They're trying to make it twenty four ten, and they kick a field goal fourth and goal. The Bears have too many men on the field, so we're expecting them to accept the penalty, go half the distance to the goal and get fourth and half a yard and try to score a touchdown. They elected to decline the penalty. They take the three points and that made it twenty to ten and they didn't score another point. Caleb Williams took him on back to back touchdown drives in the fourth quarter and the game was over. 00:20:16 Speaker 2: Yo, I have no idea what to make of Caleb Williams. Dude, I'll just at some point he's a damn good football player, but also he just has these crazy like lapses in judgment sometimes, and yeah, he just holds the ball for I don't know. You could give me more of insight on that. I'm just I don't know what to buy. 00:20:36 Speaker 5: Well, if I was a left tackle, I would agree with you, because I think cast protecting from him is stressful. I don't think you now. I say that, and then I look at yesterday. If I'm the offensive line in Chicago, I'm buying him a stake dinner right now. Because the Giants pressured him at one of the highest rates of the entire season that the Bears had faced. 00:20:57 Speaker 6: They could not get him on the ground. 00:20:59 Speaker 5: It was almost like a you know, like you see those videos, are those like really talented high school kids where it looks like they're playing the wrong sport and they just no one can tackle. 00:21:07 Speaker 6: Then that's really what it looked like. 00:21:10 Speaker 5: I mean, Thibodeau had him ten times in the backfield, couldn't get him down. Brian Burns has them, can't get him down. He's escaping, he's scrambling, he's making really accurate throws downfield. He got killed by drops yesterday. His team had probably six drops easy. 00:21:29 Speaker 6: Yesterday. 00:21:29 Speaker 5: Of all the tape that I had watched of him and all studying him, yesterday was by far the most impressive ball he's played. 00:21:36 Speaker 6: I think through his first year and a half in the league. 00:21:38 Speaker 5: He was incredible escapability, not taking sacks, which obviously was a huge issue last year. And then he was a lot more accurate throwing the ball downfield. That had kind of been his shortcomings coming into the game. His accuracy completion percentage was down, but his guys let him down a little bit with some drops. But he was He was fantastic, and then obviously the two game, the back to back touchdown drives to win the game. 00:22:02 Speaker 4: Late. 00:22:04 Speaker 5: It's as good a ball as he's played, It's as good a ball as you can play. At the quarterback position. 00:22:07 Speaker 1: I'll tell you what day Bowl is not helping himself out with these hot seat conversations. 00:22:12 Speaker 2: I just think they I think if you're the ownership with the Giants, you got to sit there and be like, you have a very unique quarterback personality wise, you have a very unique running back who's hurt personality wise. They've given they've given the Giants life. You have a pass rushing unit that every single guy can get double digit sacks that they really wanted to throughout the season, like give him one more year. But the whole decision on fourth and one, thin at the penalty and not taking it like that to me is like you just you gotta you gotta go for it. 00:22:40 Speaker 1: Bad fourth quarter losses, Yeah, we have the lead by ten, you're up. 00:22:45 Speaker 7: Do what they have the The Giants have had the lead by ten points in four in the fourth quarter, a ten pointly in the fourth quarter four times, lost all four. 00:22:54 Speaker 1: Games, right, and I'm saying, like the last two, like that's that right there, the last two Like with the Bears and the Broncos, that decision on take hey, we'll decline this another opportunity to try to score points and go up twenty four to ten. Yeah, he doesn't help. All I'm saying is he's not helping him So are you calling for his head? Right, No, I'm saying he's not helping himself. He doesn't help himself. 00:23:17 Speaker 2: Yeah, And it's just. 00:23:18 Speaker 5: I agree because so much of the ball at times looks really good, you know. And again, they're playing without Molikue neighbors, they're playing without Skataboo, Like they're depleted a little bit. 00:23:28 Speaker 6: At the skill positions. 00:23:29 Speaker 5: I think defensively, they are grossly underperforming the amount of capital, draft capital, free agent, you know, just in a cap, you know, allocation only the Steelers have spent more money, Like they've gotta get more out of the defense. 00:23:45 Speaker 6: And you know, you have ten point leads. 00:23:47 Speaker 5: I don't care if the offense takes a knee every play for the rest of the game. Like, at some point, somebody, one of these first rounders, one of these top ten picks, one of these hundred million dollar man, somebody upfront needs to just make a play and end the game with a sack of strip, fumble something. They can't take the ball away, they can't close games. And and then just some of the decision making and now what was ironic was he Davel was super aggressive, rightfully, so super aggressive with fourth down the rest of the game. I think he went for fourth down three or four times. Now they only got one, but he was super aggressive the entire game, not settling for field goals. The wind was a little tricky, so that like forty plus yard field goals was a little dicey for both sides. 00:24:30 Speaker 6: Fourth and goal on the half yard. 00:24:32 Speaker 2: Line, Yeah, yeah, you got you gotta go after that, I mean, I mean that's I'm sure you're seeing in the broadcast being like, okay, they got to go forward here, and then you're we were found. 00:24:41 Speaker 5: We were adam it, and then the second we said it, the second they didn't go for it. It just felt like that was the knockout punch. And again it was it was Russ's first drive taken over. So Dart got on the fumble, Dart hit his head and he kind of got up slow, and then we kind of watched him go to the side and no one really checked him out. He kind of waved everyone off, and we thought he was just disappointed that he fumbled, is why he got up slow. He came back out, he took two more plays and then he disappeared into the tent and we never saw him again. And obviously Russ takes over. But on the first drive, Russ's drive took him down to the one yard line. Russ Rush tried to take it in on third down, he went back to pass, kind of got caught up in the pocket, took off ran Hard, got stopped at the one, and then they kicked the field goal. So the first drive with Russell Wilson prop was by far their best drive and their most likely scenario to score a touchdown. And then over the next six plays following that field goal, they had six plays for minus two yards. 00:25:47 Speaker 6: So it was just it was over. 00:25:48 Speaker 2: Yeah. Do you were you able to watch the Bills Dolphins game at all? 00:25:53 Speaker 6: I wasn't it was going on the same time as ours. 00:25:56 Speaker 2: Because I kind of I put it on and it was already sixteen zero. It was like right before half. And then in the third quarter, Josh Allen takes them all the way down the field throws a pick in the end zone. I don't know if this is before or after they do like their version of the Toush push. He gets like six seven yards, The ball gets popped out, and it just seemed like every single time the Bills started to catch a little bit of momentum, the Miami Dolphins, wo to me, are as good as dead in the NFL season, Like they just kept stopping them and coming alive and putting Josh Allen, who is the running MVP, and the situations where okay, go do MVP things and he just didn't do it. 00:26:29 Speaker 1: Yeah, it was well and too like once the explosive pop against the Bills defense, which we've talked about before, like the running game a chain. Yeah, like when those explosive play plays happen and you're just Josh Allen on the sideline, You're just I mean you saw it a couple of times. Yeah, his body language and him answered at the podium after the game. It just seems like a little bit of spark has been taken away from Josh Allen a little bit. But yeah, I could not believe the Dolphins beat their ass yesterday, beat. 00:26:56 Speaker 5: Their ass, and think of the two weeks that you know, we talk about Carolina having a letdown, right, we talk about you're not used to being in that position. You just have a huge win on the road in Lambeau. But think of the last couple weeks of the Bills. They win by forty against the Panthers on the road. Then they have a huge matchup against the Chiefs where they really play well and they win against their biggest rival, like and all of a sudden, it's like, all right, the Bills are back. Any concern before the bye week, We're not worried about those two losses. Like, they are back. And then you said it, the Dolphins were dead. Everybody was shocked that they didn't make a coaching change after that Thursday Night debacle a couple of weeks. What was that last week and the week before. Yeah, so you know, I give the Dolphins a lot of credit. That is not easy, man. We've all been on those teams, most guys. Maybe not everybody, but most guys have been on those teams where it's just a tough season, it's a lost season, and it really just comes down to finding out in the locker room, like who truly is willing to compete when you're not really in the running for anything and you're really just playing for pride and you're playing for all this stuff. People stand at the podium and talk about but are you really willing to do it? That's pretty impressive, Like to come out and beat one of the top the printial, one of the top teams in the league, a division rival. I give them a lot of credit, man, because they were in the bullseye. People were taking shots from all over the place calling for people's jobs. And tell you what, the NFL is a funny world, man. It can flip on a dime, especially this year, because I'm not sure there. 00:28:29 Speaker 6: Is a clear cut top dog. 00:28:33 Speaker 5: I think we have a group of teams that we think are the going to pull away. But it is a very very even league right now. And obviously that's by design. 00:28:43 Speaker 1: Yeah too, like going off of it, like when you're out of it and being on those teams, it's like when you're pretty much out of everything, and like the GM gets fired and movement is happening in the organization. Like also your schedule kind of changes as a player too, like you'll do more walk through. It's like coaches start switching it up because it's like, hey, we're not fined for nothing. Guys seem a little depleted. Let's take care of him a little bit more so to show up and put an ass beating on the Bills like they did. It is like they're having fun in the locker room. The team is still fighting, which is you know, hats off, Hats off to the staff, have hats off to the players for still like staying in the fight. 00:29:19 Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just so confusing when we talk about the Panthers and how they are. They're a little bit above five hundred. Maybe this group's number one before, so it's like understandable they go and drop them for the Bills. It's like, you guys have since Josh Allen's been your quarterback, you have had success. You've been competing for Super Bowls, going deep in the playoffs every single year and having two back to back wins. Obviously, you have to get up very get up big for your biggest rival like the Chiefs last week. But there should be no drop off, like you no, because. 00:29:45 Speaker 1: You've had coaches been there forever. 00:29:46 Speaker 2: Yeah, you got Josh Allen, Like, I don't know, I don't know what to make of that. 00:29:51 Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, going over. 00:29:53 Speaker 5: So it makes this league so hard though, right because everything we say about the teams that aren't used to winning having to learn how to sustain the other side of that coin is human nature of the reason certain organizations don't have prolonged success, right with the Bills have done, the Chiefs, the Patriots, some of these teams that have had long sustained periods of success. That is an absolute opposition to the way human nature works. It's the opposition of the way the league is designed. So that's equally challenging, right, That is an equally hard thing to do to get up knowing you are everyone's biggest game week after week. Maybe the roster is a little depleted, maybe the injuries, maybe you're not as good as you were in the years past. 00:30:32 Speaker 6: But that when people see that Bill's. 00:30:34 Speaker 5: Uniform and they see Josh Allen behind center, they just assume it's the same Bills team we've seen over the last couple of years, this close to, you know, get into a Super Bowl. So expectations on either side of that coin can be crippling. 00:30:48 Speaker 1: What do you make in of the AFC North Pittsburgh Steelers going out to the going out to LA getting pretty handled by the Chargers and Ravens Now, Ravens are coming. Ravens are coming, and Ravens are coming. 00:31:02 Speaker 6: I think the Ravens win it. 00:31:03 Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, and I know it sounds silly, and they were left for dead and there was problems, and the defense was historically bad yet albeit injured, and obviously Lamar's out and how long is he gonna be out with the hamstring? And it seemed like the sky is falling and you look at the and I think everyone who looked at the division said okay, right. You know, at the moment, the Steelers were on top. And I think at times the Steelers had looked really good. And I think at times Aaron Rodgers has looked like Aaron Rodgers. And the defense makes I think the defense makes critical plays more than they are just like an overall good unit. I think they've spent a gazillion dollars on the defense. I think on a play by play basis, I don't think they're particularly great. I think they make incredible splash plays, right like it's the fourth quarter, you haven't called TJ. Watts name yet, and then it's stripped sack fumble and it's like the game is over. So like that's where they've kind of rested their head and that's where they've made their money. When they don't get those splash negatives. I think they're just okay. Last night kind of I'm with you. They got it, you know, they got taken to them by by the Chargers. I still think they're solid. I still think, like most years, the Tomlin led team is going to be a playoff caliber group. They're going to find themselves in it somehow, some way. But if I'm a bet man today, I think a healthy Lamar and a Baltimore team that's in a tough, bad division, I think they're the favorite to win it in my in my mind at least. 00:32:32 Speaker 2: Yeah, they're minus two seventy on Fandel. They're only one game back. 00:32:35 Speaker 6: Right now, So what does that mean? 00:32:38 Speaker 2: Minus two seventy So if you bet, you have to bet two hundred and seventy dollars to win one hundred dollars, and so they're they're. 00:32:45 Speaker 5: So that means there so they have the that would be the worst odds. 00:32:50 Speaker 1: Yeah, they're They're the Ravens. Even though they're not leading the division right now, the sportsbooks saying they're still a heavy favorite to win the division. So it speaks more about Pittsburgh not being They're not gonna be able to hang on. They're gonna be too inconsistent, right. 00:33:04 Speaker 2: And Aaron didn't obviously didn't play well, But I don't understand why your running back Jalen Warren has been playing so well and it's getting been that get out of jail free cart in a lot of ways. For your running game. Last night, you start running Johnson more, who you know hasn't really been seen since he had that muffed kickoff return early in the season. It's like, why why aren't you staying with this guy unless there's an injury we don't know about. Yeah, because he's like saved them a lot of ways, like twelve personnel, big guys we talk about, like the way they run the ball, like Warren, it does a great job of running the outside zone and then the perimeter run game as well. And then as Johnson, he's kind of proven did a great job at Iowa. It's kind of proven, like he's he's got to learn a little bit more before we can see if he's really gonna be successful. Like just keep doing the same thing. When your defense has a great game last week and I have to travel across the country to the West Coast against a really good defense of Jesse Mentor's Chargers, you just I don't understand that unless there's an injury we just don't know about. Yeah, it's frustrating. 00:33:59 Speaker 1: Just need Yeah I had him plus three. You had Pittsburgh. Mine needed it. Yeah, Pittsburgh was underdogs. 00:34:08 Speaker 2: Yeah I had him as well. That's that's heartbreaking, dude. What do you What can you make of JJ McCarthy for me? Like, there's times he seems like, oh, this kid really has juice, Like he's got a couple of third downs, he's putting the ball in a perfect spot only where the wide receiver can catch. And then other times he's scrambling. It's third and six and he's got like twenty yards of open field in front of him, and he decides, I'm just gonna throw it into double coverage. So I'm gonna take this play action pass and throw a deep shot into double coverage as well. Like, I know you're not a coach, and I hate putting you on the spot, but like, what do we got going there? 00:34:43 Speaker 5: I think he's a young quarterback who hasn't played a lot of ball, right, I mean you think he lost his entire rookie year last year to injury, and then you know, obviously Sam Darnold steps in and has an amazing season and carries it over. He missed a serious amount of time this year with the high ankle. You know, we covered it a couple of those Vikings games where he was out and limited, and they turned it over to Carson Wentz. So I think the reality for young quarterbacks in this league is they need to practice, They need game reps, they need practice reps. And when you think since he's come into the league, since he got drafted, the amount of time forget the games, the amount of practice reps lost due to injury, it's real. And I think we've seen quarterbacks that play for Kevin O'Connell in that system. Going back, we can rattle off five six guys off the top of our head. Even the year that Kirk Cousins got knocked out, Kirk Cousins was playing so good he tears his achilles, and then he rolls in a bunch of guys that we didn't even know still were in the league, and. 00:35:42 Speaker 6: They just keep winning and winning and playing good ball. 00:35:44 Speaker 5: And then obviously what he did last year with Sam and then even at times before he got banged up, Carson Wentz played well and then we found out that he was really dealing with something serious that led to the decline, So that offense is built for good quarterback play. I still think JJ McCarthy's very talented. I think he looked like a young, talented quarterback. I think sometimes he looks in rhythm. I think he's competitive. I think he's got a little shit to him, and then I think at times his head pops off, and I think that's very common, especially for that style of quarterback. And I don't think, you know, I think the Drake Mays of the world and guys that come in and are a little bit more polished and a little bit more refined and play within the system, and they're not so you know, improv run around, scramble. Those guys have a little bit of a higher floor, just in the sense that you're not going to get the ebbs and flows and the chaos right. But sometimes the spectacular that you get from JJ McCarthy and Caleb Williams when they're spinning in circles and running around, there's a magic to that. There's a fun, entertaining aspect. The question is is it's sustainable. And I think what we know and have seen throughout the league. Is if you can sprinkle those plays in, great, they're great like get out of Jail free cards. You can't rely on that style play in play out. You have to learn how to play within the confines, understand the agressions, understand what you're seeing, and play in rhythm. And I think that's the element right now. That's still a little bit of a learning curve with Kevin O'Connell up there. 00:37:08 Speaker 1: For McCarthy, Yeah, the learning curve I feel like is the key phrase there, because again it's you got this young quarterback who just doesn't have the scarring that these other VET quarterbacks have that Kevin O'Connell's been able to work with, Like this is kind of the first pick that he's getting to work with and he hasn't had a whole lot of reps in the film room, on the practice field. Just having those QB conversations, I feel like there is that high level of IQ that you're going to have when sitting in a room with Kevin O'Connell breaking down offense. So we're just not going to be able to grade. People are going to grad JJ McCarthy, but you're not going to be able to actual to actually get a feel for him, probably until the middle of next year, first part of next year, within those first six games. Yeah yeah, it's to me, it's like, yeah, it's a rookie quarterback. He's out there. This is his fourth was it his fourth game? I think fourth fifth game? Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah. 00:37:58 Speaker 2: Right around there, one of those two right right, yeah, right now, I'm with you. I just you see so many flashes that's like, oh, this cake can be special, and then he just does things You're like, what are we doing here? 00:38:09 Speaker 1: Yeah? Just think he was talking about head spinning, the chaos that ensues in certain moments to where you think you're in control, but not in a way that you want to have. As like a Poys quarterback who's seen and played a lot of football, right right, so when that happens, head goes down, he's going to be trying to make plays and everything else. Again, very much a young quarterback who there's just not enough, they're not enough of a sample sizer body of work to great him hard. People will because again, you're in professional football, that's. 00:38:37 Speaker 2: The j you're a top eleven pick. 00:38:39 Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, fair. Do we have any more for Greg before we let him know about this bet, the Boys parlay that's still aliveing well tonight. 00:38:47 Speaker 2: I think that's the biggest key right there before we let him go. 00:38:50 Speaker 1: Yeah, Greg, you're the man. Thank you for coming on. Have you kept up with this bet? The boys parlay, Ricky doubdle hit anytime touchdown, Jamior Gibbs hit anytime touchdown. Come on, doll hit anytime touchdown. We have one left to night. 00:39:04 Speaker 2: One more Greg, one more Lake. 00:39:06 Speaker 1: And it's it's Jalen Hurts anytime touchdown. The Lunch team coming into. 00:39:12 Speaker 5: Green listen, I think tush push is going to be at the center of attention today. Remember Green Bay amongst other teams, Green Bay was like front and center trying to eliminate the play. I mean, if you're Siriani, I think I'm trying to do it as many times in lambeau Field as the opportunities present themselves, so they get inside the three or four yard line. I think we if it's first and goal inside the five, I think we're seeing Tush push one. 00:39:40 Speaker 6: Tush push two, Tush push three, Tush. 00:39:41 Speaker 5: Push four and saying I got four downs to toush push into the end zone. So of all the guys you just mentioned I I'm probably I don't want to jinx it, but like I'm feeling best about that. 00:39:54 Speaker 2: Nick Sirianni has a huge opportunity for the ultimate troll, and that's to start the first play of the game in a touch push first, past them first and ten you're on the twenty five. 00:40:04 Speaker 1: Gotta respect that under center and. 00:40:05 Speaker 2: Just hey, you guys wanted this because it'll go for four or five on the first place. 00:40:10 Speaker 5: I'm on record, especially if they like shifted to it. You know, just don't like walk out of the huddle and just run now like that you're gonna run it like disguise it to some capacity. But I'm on record, I haven't maybe not quite as much this year, but didn't it feel like with Kelsey two seasons ago it was either two or three seasons ago. Now I can't keep track of it all, but it felt like they were getting three yards every time they ran a tush push. Like it wasn't like get a foot and a half, they were getting like three otes. I thought for a while there when they had Kelsey and they were really rolling a couple years ago with the toush push, and it was new and teams weren't necessarily accustomed to it at that point. I thought, at the end of the game, like four minute offense, I thought they could have gotten first and ten, gotten under center and run four consecutive Toush pushes at the end of a game to get a first and take a knee like I thought. I think they could. I think back then. I don't know if they can do it anymore, but I thought a couple of years ago, ten yards and four Toush pushes I thought was totally reasonable. 00:41:10 Speaker 1: Yeah, I would love to see that level of petty from Sirianni. 00:41:13 Speaker 2: Would love to see it. 00:41:14 Speaker 5: I'm not sure if they're there right now, but yeah, you gotta win. There would still be great television, wouldn't it. I'm a huge Toush push I'm a huge Toush Push fan. I think it's a I think it's brilliant. 00:41:30 Speaker 2: You think it's good for football. 00:41:33 Speaker 5: I think it's great for the strategy of the game. I mean, is it the Philadelphia Eagles responsibility to carry what's good for the NFL on their backs? I don't think it's their responsibility, Like the optics that I don't think any of that is any of their issue. I think it is a play that is highly effective. I think it's a play that nobody else seems to be able to get right. 00:41:53 Speaker 6: And it is anire. 00:41:54 Speaker 5: It is baked into every single decision that they make offensively, from what they call on third and four to what they do on first and ten, to what they do on the plus side of the field, to what they do in the goal line. 00:42:06 Speaker 6: I think there is. 00:42:08 Speaker 5: A really deep, highly thought through strategy that the tush push being in their back pocket for a yard and a half when you snap the ball at if you told the league, I have to play first and ten, but you get to play first and eight, it's a huge advantage. 00:42:27 Speaker 1: I love it until I hate it. 00:42:30 Speaker 6: I listen, would I want to be the guard? 00:42:31 Speaker 1: What I want? 00:42:32 Speaker 5: Would I want my neck broken and dumped on top of I don't know what? I want to be the middle linebacker? Get I'm not saying I want to defend it. But I think if I'm the coach, it's highly productive and it's a huge part of what they do. 00:42:46 Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not like A I don't love it like I think it's amazing, but I hate the idea of banning the toush push because it's so effective. Like it's like, that's to me, that's such a ridiculous argument. And it's like, if you think something's not effective, learn to do it yourself, or just keep doing it until eventually some DC comes along that understands how to beat it, and then it's beaten. But you can't just get rid of a play because it's good. Yeah, that's that's a crazy argument. 00:43:13 Speaker 1: That I love until I hate it comes in when the officiating gets a little gray, because I think it's a hard play to officiate, especially it's like a couple of weeks ago when we saw what was the Burns kind of ripped the ball out, they called it dead. It's like, dude, that is he stripped. 00:43:25 Speaker 2: Him right, and he's laying on top of five different bodies. 00:43:28 Speaker 1: So the controversy for me is more when it's like, uh, it could be officiated poorly, like when fall starts are kind of happening, like you know, all that stuff. 00:43:36 Speaker 5: But I'm with I guess, I guess the simplest way to put it is if it was such an easy play, if it's if it's the ultimate Madden glitch, how come they're the only team in the league that does it consistently well. 00:43:47 Speaker 1: Right, I know, because when teams try it and they're bad at it, it's. 00:43:49 Speaker 6: Like they've never practiced it. 00:43:53 Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, what are you guys scatting? Like, what's the philadelph Eagles doing it? 00:43:56 Speaker 5: At least that there's a coaching element, there's a person element. There's a lot of factors that go into whether or not that play is realistic for your team or not. And you know, we can go around a lot of teams over the last couple of years and say that they were disproportionately better at something than the rest of the league. And if the notion was let's get rid of everyone else's advantages, people would laugh at you. 00:44:19 Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, this would be a fun I don't. 00:44:22 Speaker 5: Want Aaron Donald. Aaron Donald is not allowed to be a three technique and spike into the A gap and make the guard miss because he's so no one else can do it as good as him, and he tackles, and he tackles you for a loss every time. 00:44:34 Speaker 2: It's not fair. Get rid of it. 00:44:35 Speaker 6: It's not fair. 00:44:37 Speaker 2: We don't get an Aaron Donald. How come you guys get Aaron Donald. 00:44:40 Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't have Aaron Donald, that's not fair that you could play a three technique in that capacity. I can't do it, so we should ban it. 00:44:45 Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't understand why the Cowboys, the Commanders, or the Giants haven't tried to contract Jason Kelsey and be like, hey, teach us, Like, just throw an absolute bag at him, two million bucks, Jason, come in for a week. 00:44:58 Speaker 5: I don't think Kelsey would do it. I think Kelsey's a loyal Philly guy. I think he's a loyal Philly guy who's making a lot of money. I don't I think he is. Like, I think he would go to his deathbed before he let up any of those in house secrets of Jeff Stoutlin and those guys holds the keys. 00:45:15 Speaker 1: Yeah, he would need some Saudi money. 00:45:17 Speaker 5: Yeah, well, now that's a different album. 00:45:19 Speaker 2: Eight figures, nine figures. 00:45:21 Speaker 6: Big for one week of work. Big Domb's not letting that happen. 00:45:26 Speaker 2: Big Big Dom would set that out. 00:45:28 Speaker 6: Nopele figure that out quick. 00:45:30 Speaker 2: Greg. 00:45:30 Speaker 1: You're the man, bro, Thank you for man. 00:45:32 Speaker 2: Appreciate you, man. Have a go. One'll talk to you soon. Plus Titans, they hold the number one pick in the draft right now, do you see him holding onto that prestigees honor or do you see them letting that slip away from their from their fingertips. 00:45:49 Speaker 4: Are recording just asking me a question. 00:45:51 Speaker 2: I think we're doing both. 00:45:53 Speaker 3: I would say, I mean prestige. 00:45:55 Speaker 8: Sure. Last year we sell back toward to into the first pick. It was who was the Jets that there was one team that they won on Week eighteen. I think it was the Jets. Well, we were going to have the second pace at the Brown No, I think it was the Jets. Yeah, they backdoord in the first pick. They want a crazy game. We got the first pick, so at least now we know three weeks ahead. Who knows, we still play the Saints, Jets, could you know, squeak out a couple more losses? 00:46:25 Speaker 6: Who knows? 00:46:26 Speaker 4: Maybe we do some dumb shit? 00:46:29 Speaker 2: Who dumb shit? 00:46:30 Speaker 8: And what at that point in the year where it's like football doesn't mean as much as it used to. 00:46:34 Speaker 2: See Jack Jackson's defeated man in the month of November. 00:46:37 Speaker 8: Right now, Yeah, I mean, hopefully some things shake out. 00:46:41 Speaker 2: But what would shake out? Because you're saying, hey, we might do some dumb shit, I'm thinking, do you want the Titans to lose the rest of their games. For the one pick, I don't know. 00:46:51 Speaker 8: All I can think about is right now in Nashville, it's thirty four degrees. All the home games following right now November tenth will most likely be very frigid, and I'm not looking forward to being in Nissan Stadium in that weather. 00:47:06 Speaker 1: You should be looking forward to who's who in the zoo When it comes to this fan base, it is the this is the stretch where you're in your stripes right here. You want to know who's in the foxhol with the Tennessee Titans, right And. 00:47:17 Speaker 2: We've learned about the foxhole too, like ten people. That's good, dude, all you need, all you need is ten. 00:47:25 Speaker 1: Really eleven football. 00:47:26 Speaker 8: But I'm just yeah, I'm at that point where it's just it's difficult. 00:47:32 Speaker 2: You're abysmal year last year. It's tough for the Titans. That's like, hey, we're gonna get back on track. We'll figure it out. Callahan new year. Two years in a row of it going like this, the fan base is gonna. 00:47:45 Speaker 8: I think the big positive look at is how much salary cap that we have and just the cap space, like that's that's the positive we haven't. 00:47:53 Speaker 6: Had that in a long time. 00:47:55 Speaker 8: Yeah, so who knows, but yeah, that is. I mean, by the time it's you know, midway through the spring, my allegiance is just fully back on. We're winning the super Bowl. So I do hope that we do something special with the Cavs face, and I hope they hire the right guy. Until we've hired the right guy, I can't really make any decision, and I just kind of linger in this horrible Titans Tennessee football limbo. 00:48:19 Speaker 3: But yeah, you know we're gonna be in Nissan. Tighten up, man, fun. 00:48:27 Speaker 1: Show up. We can hit some tier talk. Let's hit some tier talk. We have a shout out here, mister James at the mister James eight on X. Anyone going to talk about how clutch Caleb Williams is when the game is on the line. Hashtag tier talk. I think we did, Yeah, we had. We had a great, fun little breakdown with old Greg there. I'll tell you what, I am the guy looking in the mirror being like, how long am I going to continue to kind of doubt the Chicago Bears, And uh so I pull up their schedule and I hate them do this, but it's like all right, Let's try to find some wins. Let's try to figure out who the Bears have been. Dallas, the Raiders. Oh these is yeah, this is who they beat. Dallas split them wide open? That defense? Who has to split them wide open? They beat the Raiders by one, Commanders by one. They beat the Saints, They they beat the Bengals, they beat the Giants. 00:49:23 Speaker 2: So I just. 00:49:24 Speaker 1: Throwing that out there, because they are six and three. You gotta give I. I do enjoy watching coach Johnson's post game speeches in the locker room. Yeah, he's like, hey, we're here every week, but we ain't apologizing for how we win. Gives out game balls. I do love his energy. I love how the locker rooms having a lot of fun. I think the boys are rallying around the idea that they are playing meaningful games in November, hopefully December. 00:49:46 Speaker 2: And that is what you pulled up. The wins that they've had as a team, You've ignored that and you just look at the record and be like, we can play with anybody, We can play with any We can play with anyone right now. 00:49:56 Speaker 1: Big opportunity. Who who they got next week? They got the Vikings? 00:50:00 Speaker 2: Give me the next three. 00:50:01 Speaker 1: Okay, Vikings Division rivalry that'll be in Minnesota. 00:50:05 Speaker 2: Can probably see them winning that. 00:50:08 Speaker 1: Then they have they host the Steelers. 00:50:10 Speaker 2: Okay, you can see them winning that. 00:50:13 Speaker 1: Then they go to Philly. But if you go, if you go two and one, you're again you're sitting there at eight and four, you're sitting there eight and four, eight and four ball club playing some meaningful games in December, which would be the Packers at Green Bay host the Browns, Okay, then they host the Packers again, then they go out to San Francisco and play the Niners, and then they host the Lions. 00:50:42 Speaker 2: Eight, nine and eight ball club wild Card. But is it I don't know if it is in the NFC. 00:50:50 Speaker 1: NFC will be tough, I was gonna say, especially yeah, NFC West, the way that they're playing right now, they could be looking again three in there. 00:50:58 Speaker 2: Yeah. Yet the Packers are gonna make it, the Lions are gonna make it, the Eagles are gonna make it. 00:51:04 Speaker 1: But we should be able to let Chicago fans have as much fun as possible. 00:51:07 Speaker 2: Have fun because you said in the beginning of the year you deserve this. We need new Halloween costumes next year. Can't just be Mike Dicka. It can't just be Mike Dicka. Get some fingernails painted. Let's let your kids go crazy out there. Huh So. Yeah, Caleb Williams and is impressive though how elusive he is and I didn't see like I didn't see the entire game. I saw bits and pieces, but his ability to escape the pocket ran out to the left a couple times, one for a touchdown when he got down to the one yard line. 00:51:35 Speaker 1: Thrown across the body, he is like, he is extremely talented. 00:51:39 Speaker 2: Like if you get if Ben Johnson could harness that energy when Dan Orlofty's talking about the habits and everything like that, if they can get that done. 00:51:46 Speaker 1: Boys, it seems like they're trending that way ten and seven? Why not? Why not the Chicago Why not you? 00:51:53 Speaker 2: There's gotta be an upsetting there somewhere. It'd be good for football. It would be for football. 00:52:01 Speaker 1: Why not the Bears? Here's another tier talk from Adam Sullivan to hashtag tear talk. Are the days of a true pocket passer in the NFL? Gone? A set your feet, get completions or take the sack? QB seems extinct. Not everyone can be my homes, But it seems like you have to have some type of mobility anymore to be consistently productive in today's NFL. 00:52:24 Speaker 2: Look at Matthew Stafford, like he's he's got a little mobility to him. Actually a couple times he got himself around a little bit. But I mean he's a true he's a true pocket passer. Jared Goff, true pocket passer. Like these are guys that are dicing up the league right now, playing really really good ball. Is it dead? No? Are we in a you know, we gotta worry about this animal because it's becoming extinct. We got to think them to the zoo. Hopefully they can procreate with something else. That's kind of the world we're living in. 00:52:48 Speaker 1: You'll have somebody getting at two of them. You'll have the traditional list I think always in forever, it's at most positions. Yeah, but there are these mutants that are now coming into the league across the board. Right we were having the breakdown last week. We were talking about tight ends, this semi positions with backers and tight ends. You see it a lot with receivers, like you have to come in being able to block crazy man. 00:53:11 Speaker 2: They were like the first iteration of the alien. Yeah, that was the first alien to step foot on the grid iron. 00:53:16 Speaker 9: I feel like the like Christian ponders of the world are are over though, Like how there used to be that middle of the pack QB in the NFL that was just pocket passers. I feel like they're going to be extinct. 00:53:27 Speaker 1: Yeah, where like. 00:53:28 Speaker 9: Everybody every on the right, like Max, Max Jones, those are like great players. But mac Jones is like we know ceiling. 00:53:37 Speaker 2: Do we do? We know mac Jones the ceiling or we just now seeing I would say mac Jones or we just seen the second floor would be. 00:53:47 Speaker 1: Would be that leveled up middle of the pack, right exactly. But you gotta be the best of the best. You're just gonna sit back there in that pocket. 00:53:54 Speaker 2: Sam Darnold, Sammy d that's like he's athletic, but he's not. He does he's got some urgency, he's. 00:54:03 Speaker 1: Got some Yeah. 00:54:05 Speaker 7: I would say he's like athletic, as athletic as bow Knicks. 00:54:08 Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, but no, Sam Donald doesn't have quarterback design runs in the play, but for him, bow Knicks does. 00:54:15 Speaker 6: But he could. 00:54:17 Speaker 2: Dog. I don't think. I don't think Sam Donald is getting other than your hey QB paint once in a while. 00:54:23 Speaker 1: I would say if Sam Donald arm shoulders everything else, if he had the genetic of bow Knicks, he would not be as successful as bow Knicks were. With the athletic ability, I'll say if you I'm saying Sammy D, He's got a much better arm, much better accuracy, much better arm strength if you gave him bow Knicks's makeup as far as arm strength and accuracy. Like, but like, he doesn't have the athletic ability. I'm just saying he doesn't have the athletic They're not. 00:54:52 Speaker 2: I don't think they're in the same category. Knicks is like, you're he's your first tier. I'm starting a creative player. He's gonna have a level of ac athleticism. Yeah, but he's not. I mean he's not Lamar Jackson's Notting Homes Josh Allen. 00:55:04 Speaker 1: I'm saying Sam Darnold is not as athletic as bow Nicks. 00:55:07 Speaker 6: Yeah, but who would you rather have? D? 00:55:12 Speaker 1: Like Ty Simpson is going to be coming out that urgency, high ball a pie, yeah, mobility. 00:55:19 Speaker 2: And it's going to be a Sammy D compared to by Simpson is like Ty Simpson is the perfect example of like the new pocket passing quarterback Yeah, where it's like, yeah, he's got he can move his legs a little bit, but like there's no quarterback design runs, being like, we got to get. 00:55:35 Speaker 1: That's a pocket pass Baker. 00:55:37 Speaker 7: Where would you where would you categorize Baker gamer? 00:55:41 Speaker 2: Yeah, he's he's an elusive he's elusive. 00:55:44 Speaker 1: Yeah, Baker would be like, yeah, pocket quarterbacks like that, you need to have that ability. Baker's got that. 00:55:49 Speaker 2: Baker doesn't have design runs. He's out, he's not a dual threat. 00:55:52 Speaker 7: Like, so, is that what you're saying is that you need to be you need to have design runs in order to be athletic. 00:55:56 Speaker 2: I think that's where I'm leaning as we're kind of having like a think tank right now on the bus. Yeah, there needs to be two to three quarterback design runs. That's like, oh, the coaching staff believes you can run like that. Caleb Williams can run like that. Lamar Jackson. Obviously, Mahomes is a unique one. We're not doing QB design runs with Mahomes. But he's shown me enough. He's shown me enough elusivity to get around a little bit. I like that. Jalen Hurts quarterback design runs, Josh Allen quarterback design runs. Aaron Rodgers pocket passer, used to be able to he Drank Malle quarterback design runs. He's got a couple. Drake May's kind of got it all he can. He can't fuck you, Drake mayhold the ball up here. You see did you see the one yesterday? He actually had the ball up here. The guy was trying to get it. He had the ball like this, pusted you down and then threw the ball. So, yeah, Drake May's got it. He's got the technique in. 00:56:58 Speaker 1: Fundamentals's got some cute feet. I wouldn't say he's got design runs, but he's got cute enough feet to make a little bit of magic. 00:57:04 Speaker 6: But he's more of you're saying. 00:57:07 Speaker 7: You're saying Jordan Love sweet. 00:57:09 Speaker 1: He's got the sweetest, sweet, sweet sweet feet. 00:57:11 Speaker 3: What about Jordan Love? 00:57:12 Speaker 2: Completely different player when he's under pressure as opposed to clean pocket. Is he elusive? I don't know you can pass your You're bringing up the my man's tweet like, yeah, Cam Woarre's got running ability to him. Not a quarterback design run guy though, not a quarterback, but for his life he can make some magic with Yeah. He gets out a little bit like he's more elusive than he's like, Okay, you got your sam Donold's, then your Drake May is probably a level above that on the elusivity chart. And then it goes up and up and out. Baker's above, I would say above Cam. 00:57:48 Speaker 1: We might need a graphic for this. 00:57:49 Speaker 6: Donald. 00:57:51 Speaker 1: We're talking a lot of essentially the meet. 00:57:54 Speaker 2: There's thirty two two tears. It's kind of where my brain is going right now. 00:57:59 Speaker 1: The median now of quarterback play is not as much pocket passer. It is now more having. 00:58:05 Speaker 3: Legs out of the starting quarterbacks. Who is the perfect balance in this in this discussion? 00:58:13 Speaker 2: That's a great, great question. 00:58:15 Speaker 1: Yeah, you got Josh Allen, Drake May, Patrick Mahomes, he would it would be Jalen hurts Man or doesn't turn it over. He's a good quarterback. But we're talking about who's the best in this conversation. 00:58:33 Speaker 2: Could you imagine Justin Herbert of Eagles, Justin Herbert quarterback, buddy, perfect quarterback. I love this question. I mean Lamar Jackson's leg, Lamar's legs. 00:58:47 Speaker 6: Baker's ship. 00:58:49 Speaker 1: Yeah, Baker's Baker's moxy. 00:58:52 Speaker 2: Okay, uh dude, arm strength I know we kind of want to lean Josh Allen, but what about Kayleb Williams, Rock buddy, he can the freaking ball. 00:59:03 Speaker 10: I was watching the forty nine Ers game and Caleb Williams like the difference between his throw and Mac Jones. 00:59:09 Speaker 1: No, I love Mac. 00:59:09 Speaker 10: Jones, but Caleb can can rip it every time he throws. 00:59:13 Speaker 6: Stafford. Stafford can rip it. 00:59:17 Speaker 1: Stafford. 00:59:17 Speaker 2: Yeah, you want Stafford's brain, you can. We're putting Stafford's We're putting Stafford's accuracy. 00:59:24 Speaker 7: Stafford's putting it wherever he wants. He doesn't have to look, and he's just yeah. 00:59:28 Speaker 1: I mean Aaron Rodgers, arm bro I mean, obviously he's old, he's old. 00:59:34 Speaker 3: Starters, but we're forgetting Joe Burrow, Like, do not want his achilles? 00:59:39 Speaker 2: Yeah yeaht up waste, not. 00:59:42 Speaker 1: Want his legs? 00:59:43 Speaker 3: Joe Burrows Yeah yeah, yeah, face. 00:59:46 Speaker 2: Hair, Patrick Mahomes playmaking ability? Is that? Is that a category? Can we put that in there? 00:59:53 Speaker 1: Joe Burrow? Joe Burrow's serial killer brain. 00:59:58 Speaker 2: Drake May's deep ball or got some good quarterbacks out there? We got some good quarterbacks out there. 01:00:08 Speaker 1: No tier talk from Chris Fratelli hashtag tear talk. This is for Taylor as former players, how can you explain the Baker, Danny Dimes, Donald mac jones career resurgence coaching. 01:00:24 Speaker 2: It's gotta be it's yeah, right, it's yeah. Dudes being locked in, dudes being high draft picks, getting knocked off their pedestal, finding a new place, new energy, new way to go about their study, habits, their processes like. 01:00:43 Speaker 1: And not buying into the doubt that kind of creeps in your mind when you are having down moments. 01:00:48 Speaker 3: It shows that these guys that get drafted obviously very high to the worst teams just truly get put in an awful situation, brutal. 01:00:56 Speaker 2: Situation, and it takes like a true talent to overcome those brutal situations. 01:01:01 Speaker 7: I mean, you're gonna tell me, I said, you're truly fucked. I mean, you're gonna look at me and tell me I'm wrong. 01:01:05 Speaker 2: I think, like question if you're a generational guy doesn't matter. 01:01:11 Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean Joe Burrow, Joey b I'm so. 01:01:16 Speaker 2: Glad you brought him back in the conversation because I truly forgot about Joe Burrow. 01:01:19 Speaker 7: Joey Be is the only one to go into a ship franchise and turn it completely around in the last five ten years. 01:01:28 Speaker 3: That's kind of fair. 01:01:30 Speaker 2: It's fair. It's fair face value. It's fair at face value. 01:01:33 Speaker 1: But like Drake May, we'd obviously have to bring up something like it's like, so you're to Manny came in. They were brutal, and I said, five to ten years, okay, that. 01:01:41 Speaker 2: Was over twenty that was not nice. If you took Joe Burrow and you put them on the Jets turns it around. 01:01:47 Speaker 3: I feel, I mean, they didn't draft, they didn't draft, they didn't draft Jamar Chase. Like Arry, I think the. 01:01:55 Speaker 10: Jets would be Jets would be kind of nice with Burrow, with that defense, they had some some Quinn and Williams. 01:02:03 Speaker 1: Williams gone, and then like if. 01:02:04 Speaker 7: He was on the Jets, the Jets drafted Zach Wilson. 01:02:08 Speaker 4: He's third on the death chart. 01:02:10 Speaker 2: How sick are you if you're like the Jets, you're the Cardinals Josh Rosen a few years ago. 01:02:15 Speaker 7: I mean Kyler Murray like he like he got he drafted number one overall and like, I mean, they're still kind of ship. 01:02:22 Speaker 10: Kyler Murray is a good one. Not to steal this tier talk but do you think Kyler Murray will have a resurgence on a new team next year he's not with the Cardinals. Do you think there's a chance that Kyler can become that type of quarterback that needs the chance he goes to Minnesota. 01:02:35 Speaker 2: Yeah, he's gotta go. He's gotta everyone. There is to be a line at the door the Rams. Yeah, there needs to be like a seminar and like the Cape the Kevin O'Connell just puts on once a year. It's all like backup quarterbacks. That's how quarterbacks play gets better. Wait, Jets, oh have success. He's got to go to Minnesota first, and then it does matter where he goes. 01:03:01 Speaker 1: Didn't know golf won a Super Bowl with the Rams. Yeah, he lost, lost to Bowl, went to Super Bowl. He like he was one in that because I feel like turn it around. 01:03:11 Speaker 7: He turned it around, like he was there. They were kind of bad for a couple of years and then they like once McVeigh got hired, they went and. 01:03:16 Speaker 2: Yeah, I was just saying, Detroit, you never turned around. They still win when sixteen they still sucked. Yeah, that is a great argument for Joe Burrow and how good he is with Stafford at Detroit. 01:03:30 Speaker 7: I mean, because you can't necessarily say it about Mahomes because they were good with Alex Smith before him. You can kind of say it about Josh Allen like they they. 01:03:38 Speaker 2: Yeah, Josh, Josh Allen's a good one. Yeah, I mean win. 01:03:41 Speaker 1: So your statement kind of just got thrown in the trash two people, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow. Uh, we just said Stafford and Jared Goff. 01:03:52 Speaker 2: No, no, no, I think the argument bill playoff team when they draft because Jared Goff they weren't good that McVeigh got there, which is great coaching. So that's that's kind of like the changeing go with there. Jeff's great quarterback. 01:04:03 Speaker 3: Would you put Herbert in there? 01:04:04 Speaker 7: I feel like fringe g Herbert, fringe guy. Hebert is supposed to start his first Gamey Taylor got poked in the lung and that's how he started. 01:04:13 Speaker 1: Philip Rivers. They do it on purpose, so they're always pretty salty. Chargers were always pretty salty. 01:04:18 Speaker 2: Yeah, they weren't like an abysmal franchise, Like what are like, what are the worst franchises? The Browns, the Jets. Well, I see the Giants kind of giants have had success in this century though, No. 01:04:35 Speaker 1: Ye, But before that they had. 01:04:37 Speaker 2: Watch, they had Shaun Watson, they had a great defense. They were competing in the A C South every year Jags, Trevor Lawrence, je Jade Daniels, Trevor. 01:04:49 Speaker 1: Lawrence to Washington is trash this year, man. But even when he's played there. 01:04:57 Speaker 2: They still I feel like w it has the product truly changed at the quarterback position with the Commanders Jayden Daniels, Marcus Merita. Has the product really changed that much? No, I don't think I don't think so either. And it's like, if you're a Washington fan, you're in hell because this is twenty fifteen twenty sixteen all over again. 01:05:22 Speaker 9: Yeah. 01:05:22 Speaker 1: Just defensively, it's fuck. 01:05:27 Speaker 2: Gilimoto. Gillamoto has a nice Gilli Moto. Gillimoto has a nice tear. We got a Bears fan right here. How many points per game do you think a head coach is worth? 01:05:36 Speaker 1: Diehard Bears fan here, I'm almost willing to give Ben Johnson plus six points. This is a per This is a per team by team basis. See Rabel is like plus three and a half. But I think at this point for Able over Johnson. 01:05:51 Speaker 2: If you have this whole thought process in one tweet, Ben Johnson's for sure worth six points. They score on every drug opening drive and that's just your script, your top fifteen. 01:06:00 Speaker 6: What would you say McVeigh is. 01:06:03 Speaker 2: McVay is tough because Stafford? 01:06:06 Speaker 1: Yeah, these are so all these but definitely. 01:06:11 Speaker 2: Nine. How you going to just playing the Gillia motto game. 01:06:15 Speaker 1: But for Gilly moto? How you giving Ben Johnson six and Brable three and a half. And you're like, but I like Rabel. 01:06:23 Speaker 2: That's like me saying the Patriots the best team, but I also think are better and Red But I don't know, I don't know. 01:06:32 Speaker 7: Andy Reid did it with McNabb and stuff in Philly and then with Alex. 01:06:37 Speaker 1: You got to give Andy Reid at least plus eight more than giving double digits Andy Reid more than Braves. Yeah. I think you look at the historically like their resumes. 01:06:48 Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, uh cam at Cameron Leech twenty three, George Jonathan Taylor deserves MVP if it keeps this up. I get it's a quarterback award, but this is a historic, historic season. Should the NFL move to an MVP and a MVQB award. No, I think we need to get back to who's the best player in the NFL, and right now it's Jonathan Taylor. Without a doubt. He's got Do you have three again? 01:07:14 Speaker 6: Yeah? 01:07:14 Speaker 7: I saw a stat between through ten games last year, Saquon had like I think Jonathan Taylor's had eleven hundred and thirty nine yards. I think through ten games last year had eleven hundred and thirty seven yards. So Jonathan Taylor is ahead of Saque's pace last year. 01:07:31 Speaker 2: And he's got to be way ahead of him in touchdowns, Like what's he on pace for? 01:07:36 Speaker 7: He's right now on pace to break the record touchdown wise, I'm not sure. I think he has like fifteen touchdowns this year sixteen, So he's not on. 01:07:46 Speaker 2: Yeah, we start having that conversation. 01:07:48 Speaker 3: He's he's what is he in the fandowadds thirds he moved up from twelve to third after this past weekend. 01:07:55 Speaker 1: Yeah, he is in the MVP race. It's gonna be harder for the run back to keep it up. 01:08:01 Speaker 3: Then it is a quarterback the last quarter. 01:08:03 Speaker 2: No kids in the morning, man, kids in the morning, the noon. I'm like watching them all. 01:08:07 Speaker 7: Well, if he if Jonathan Taylor runs for like nineteen hundred yards and like twenty six touchdowns and account has like four or five more receiving touchdowns, so accunts for almost thirty touchdowns. Do you think that's MVP worthy? 01:08:20 Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, I do. 01:08:21 Speaker 2: Would love to see two thousand. 01:08:24 Speaker 1: I love you get But again, well, what's the what's the touchdown record for running backs? 01:08:28 Speaker 2: Twenty six? 01:08:29 Speaker 7: I thought it was twenty seven, twenty eight. 01:08:33 Speaker 2: Davian Thomason in two thousand and six had twenty six or twenty eight and he won MVP. I think it's the last running back to win it. 01:08:42 Speaker 1: It it truly, it all depends with Drake May and Stafford. Like Stafford is blowing it up right now. 01:08:49 Speaker 7: Drake already has more touchdown Stafford has more touchdowns this year already than he did all of last year. 01:08:54 Speaker 1: Yeah. What what's he thrown for in the last three games? Thirteen stupid? Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, he's been having fantasy you should be playing Yeah yeah yeah. And then again, Drake May. It's like if the Patriots in the year and they're the one seed in the AFC and Drake May continues to play the way he's been playing, with the stat line he has, it's gonna be very hard to not give it to Drake May. 01:09:18 Speaker 2: Yeah. That's the problem is like Jonathan Taylor has to do like those types of numbers you're talking about, like two thousand and thirty total touchdowns. Yeah, on a show, but he continues to put on a show man continuing awesome, like came down to the wire overtime. 01:09:34 Speaker 1: Right. 01:09:35 Speaker 7: Falcons are the most bipolar team. 01:09:36 Speaker 2: In the bipolar man. They Yeah, they are bro they Falcons. If you were like a betman, you want to stay away from the Falcons. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They're on the no bet list. 01:09:48 Speaker 3: Away from Miami. 01:09:50 Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I think they're either. 01:09:51 Speaker 3: Getting blown out or blowing you out. 01:09:54 Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you want to stay away from Miami as well. I'd put them on the note. 01:09:57 Speaker 7: I feel like even Falcons players like bees On, he's on the no bet list as well. 01:10:01 Speaker 2: What's yeah, what's going on? Dude? I have him and like Algier whatever, dude, who cares? I shouldn't know his name. Bijon should be starting. 01:10:10 Speaker 7: He should be playing every single every snap like he was. 01:10:15 Speaker 6: Two touchdowns. 01:10:15 Speaker 2: Middle of October, We're sitting on ESPN and Darren Lofsky goes by middle of November, BJ Robbins won't be in the m v P conversation since then. He's on downhill. 01:10:27 Speaker 1: And here's our here's our last tier talk here from Jonah conson Jonah K six two on x hashtag teer talk. Do you think Cleveland Browns fans are the most tortured in franchise history and what would you do to get them to a championship level team? I I don't know that last part of the answer. I would say, are you the most tortured fans? Like there's some there's some brutal fan bases out there. Machine being with the. 01:10:53 Speaker 2: Jets, dude. Last week I was doing the Gillette thing and I went and did a like local Jets podcast, and the guy just you could tell there was so much torture behind those eyes, but he was smiling the entire time like he he's like in twenty years when we're good, Like I'm gonna be sitting here like I like people are born into it, which I'm sure they are. The Cleveland I would give the edge of the Jets, though Baker Market every year is their year. There's always some sort of glimmer of hope Like this year, it's they've traded away everything, So like twenty twenty six is going to be your year and it's not. 01:11:30 Speaker 6: What about? 01:11:31 Speaker 1: Uh, I could say I could give the edge to Cleveland just because you just because you also live in Cleveland. I mean it takes a real sicko Cleveland or Jersey to be a diehard Cleveland fan, like a real Cigo. Yeah. 01:11:45 Speaker 7: But like yeah, I mean you think about those that the quarterbacks that they have gone through. They've gone through like thirty quarterbacks and still and. 01:11:52 Speaker 2: You have Baker Mayfield. Bro, you can just stay with Baker Mayfield and the way to get a championship. Move the team fresh. Start first at Eyes, you know, Bahama team something, do something different, you know, Key West, San Diego, the San Diego be so sick. 01:12:11 Speaker 1: The San Diego Browns. Yeah, doesn't feel right? 01:12:14 Speaker 2: Yeah, feel right? I mean you don't have to keep the load of the Browns. 01:12:21 Speaker 1: Yeah, for real, all right, boys will feel good. 01:12:23 Speaker 2: I'm trying to figure out where they're gonna go. 01:12:25 Speaker 1: Utah, send them up to Alaska, give Alaska one of them. 01:12:30 Speaker 3: Put them overseas. You know they're talking about expanding overseas. 01:12:35 Speaker 1: Yeah, move them overseas. 01:12:37 Speaker 2: Yeah, the London Browns all right, I like it all right, boys, runing up a episode to talk to you about Rose sparks. We'll start with Saturday. 01:14:51 Speaker 1: Let's do the other one of the way, and just to let and just to let the audience know, the sticks are obviously getting higher toward the end of the football season. We'll be talking all things college football. In this episode. We're gonna be releasing the NFL. The NFL won shortly after, but we have a we have a huge one this week, a massive Saturday that we just had a and m dominates with. 01:15:09 Speaker 2: The NFL is coming first. Mitch is doing this. That means NFL comes first, and then show. 01:15:13 Speaker 1: Okay, the way we're sitting, so. 01:15:14 Speaker 2: You're listening to this, you've already hit the NFL. Yes, and you want yourself a little college portion. That's what you're getting at right now. 01:15:20 Speaker 1: Right there we go, There we go. 01:15:21 Speaker 2: You've heard this also on the NFL portion, which we're gonna shoot a little bit later. 01:15:24 Speaker 1: Yes, and coach Joey McGuire, he's gonna be tuning in the bust with the boys his big win out Lubbock, Texas Love. We're covering everything, conference breakdown, Heisman conversations, the college Football Playoff. By the way, shout out to the a CEC for ship in the. 01:15:38 Speaker 2: Bed before everybody in the bed. Who's winning that thing? Now? Georgia Tech's winn't it? As what's happening? And did Miami find themselves? Now they're gonna have a possibility to jump into the championship. 01:15:51 Speaker 1: Game, so they could like this will be for any ACC SI goos out there, But Georgia Tech is eight to one, Virginia gets upset by Wake, Louisville gets upset by Cal. So you have Virginia as a two loss team, Louisville's a two loss team. It's a two loss team in Miami, all two loss teams. So I think it is safe to say that there will only be one ACC team getting one. 01:16:17 Speaker 2: There will only be one, I know, dude, No, I don't know. 01:16:22 Speaker 10: If if Georgia Tech is only has one loss and they lose their conference championship game, they might not get eliminated. Because they didn't eliminate SMU last year in the same scenario. 01:16:31 Speaker 1: But that call, that's a great call. They would have to beat Obviously, with them being a one loss or losing the championship, that means they're beating Georgia. They'd have to be george So we need Georgia to take care of business. We need Georgia to take care of business. 01:16:42 Speaker 2: Georgia takes care of business only one Accoys. I feel, is this bust a little anti ACC right now? Yes, very very Why I'm not pro ok right now? I'm a I'm an independent. I'm just trying to figure out I want to be on and I feel like linesman John and the Sanders, I just want to know where I stand. 01:17:01 Speaker 1: Here's my breakdown of why it seems like we are now anti ACC. Wasn't before all this chaos started to ensue. It's like Miami was supposed to be dominant team old college football season until they did what Miami does. So when they lost too, it's kind of like, oh shit, you got Georgia Tech. They were supposed to be dominant. Who'd they end up losing to Duke not too long ago? Duke, Who's they beat? 01:17:24 Speaker 2: Duke. That's right, because they're. 01:17:25 Speaker 7: All Duke just lost a Yukon over the weekend and has been. 01:17:29 Speaker 2: And Duke has just weirdly been his favorite. It's like Illinois and other school It's like, what are y'all doing out here. 01:17:35 Speaker 1: In our brains? Because us two sitting up there were more Big Ten then the boys in the back of us SEC. We look at SEC, you look at Big Ten, even the Big Twelve to a certain extent, acc to me, is just not like as far as depth throughout the entire conference. Clemson was supposed to be a dog this year. They weren't. Then Virginia coming out of nowhere. Louisville's a good football team. I will give Louisville credit to me that they've been somebody who been consistent over. 01:18:00 Speaker 2: The football team, playoff, football team, or just good football team. 01:18:04 Speaker 1: If Louisville would have been a one loss team, that's where in my brain, that's where you start to Okay, let's see them getting the College Wall playoff. But again, acc with all these two loss teams, to me, they're not a conference that's going to have a lot of these two loss conversations that the Big Ten's going to have that, the SEC is going to have that the Big twelve can have in a couple scenarios. 01:18:21 Speaker 3: A lot of the ACC teams somehow don't play each other either, That's what says. 01:18:24 Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that is very odd. That is very odd how that works out that way. 01:18:29 Speaker 1: Okay, and the way everybody was talking about again, all the massive implications going on inside of. 01:18:35 Speaker 3: The chance to get three correct one at one point there was four that would be arguing, four that'd be arguing in the ACC. 01:18:44 Speaker 1: Around all this chaos talk from the other big games that are going on, say, oh shit, the ACC could really blow up all of college football if they have a lot of the they have like four teams two with one loss, two with two laws. They're all kind of beating each other. How do you keep them out? 01:18:58 Speaker 6: Now? 01:18:58 Speaker 1: We know what these bad losses over the weekend, these ups. 01:19:00 Speaker 2: We know who they are. We know they are who we thought they were at the beginning of the year. 01:19:04 Speaker 1: So not anti ACC, but just these upsets kind of save college football. 01:19:08 Speaker 7: Yeah, I think we're more anti ACC because we want to see like more SEC and Big ten teams get in and like with. 01:19:15 Speaker 2: These teams, are you guys, are just you guys are just you're not anti ACC, you're just more Hey, we got to keep the timeline correct. And having four A SEC teams in college playoffs. I think one was invited. They said, hey, can I bring somebody? Like you can maybe bring two, but that person wanted to bring two people. And we're like, this HiT's get a little fucked up. A couple of people bailed out. Now just maybe one person's coming to the playoffs. 01:19:37 Speaker 1: This bus is pro good football teams getting into college. For I like, that's it just because they like that, just because they have the ACC tie that day, and that's what's unfortunate. But it's like you're seeing these teams and it's like they're not They're not in these conversations with everybody else. 01:19:50 Speaker 2: It's so it's yeah, because what we're looking at possibly four SEC teams correct, possibly four big ten teams. Now that is totally based on Michigan be Ohio State, which last four years, but we know Ohio State's looking like a juggernaut. Michigan still figuring it out. But yeah, Indiana they'll make it, Ohio State will make it. And I'm assuming Organ Washington shit the bed. 01:20:12 Speaker 1: Yeah, bring a big ten Washington the bed usc US season there, Steal has to play Oregon. They do. 01:20:19 Speaker 2: They still have to play Oregon, and I think one other team that you're like, oh, that's not necessarily a win right there. So you're looking at those three and that if Michigan can beat Ohio State, you gotta let Michigan in as well. Michigan wins yeah, well yeah, they're in. Michigan controls their destiny. There's an absolute fucking juggernaut at the end of that twelve. 01:20:39 Speaker 1: But hey, if we want it happened last year, If we want big ten chaos, Michigan wins out and USC wins out, but go do then you. 01:20:47 Speaker 2: Have USC schedule real quick. If USC is a two loss team, they're getting they're in. They are in. 01:20:55 Speaker 1: It's Oregon who would be a two loss team that could not get in. Michigan could not get in. But as far as Michigan, as far as arguments to get teams in the like, that's where it's like, Okay, we would see some good chaos. 01:21:07 Speaker 2: Michigan gets in, Michigan wins out, and you beat the number one team in the country, like you're in, right. I think that that's that's like a Yeah, that's done right. 01:21:16 Speaker 1: That argument is for sure, they're all. All I'm saying is, if you're looking at these two loss teams and only one of them gets in, you can't not look at the head to head with with USC and Michigan. 01:21:25 Speaker 2: They got Iowa. But it's it's it's in l A. And I think that's a much different vibe than an Iowa say. 01:21:32 Speaker 1: Look, it's a tough Iowa football Iowa. 01:21:35 Speaker 2: They travel out to the coast, though, Can those corn fed boys look at the coast for the first time not get distracted? 01:21:40 Speaker 1: Can us see out physical the more physical team. 01:21:43 Speaker 2: They've done it before, right. 01:21:44 Speaker 1: So it's like this Iowa team is a tough football team. Now you can't sleep on them. Can't sleep on them. Then you got to Oregon. That'll be the big one that'll be. 01:21:52 Speaker 2: In U C. L A. Which we found out this weekend they've finally been putting their players by the Huskers. 01:21:56 Speaker 5: Yeah. 01:21:57 Speaker 1: TJ. 01:21:57 Speaker 2: Latif I tried telling everybody, what is I know, I know we usually we saved Nebraska talk for the end, but what is the conversation surrounding Lincoln? If TJ. Latiff has tho that game he had? Yeah, three more times? Is here a quarterback controversy in Lincoln, Nebraska? Did you see the I saw I saw somebody tweet that. I saw you tweet that. 01:22:20 Speaker 1: Yeah? 01:22:20 Speaker 2: Did you see Ben Affleck in the corner? 01:22:22 Speaker 1: Did you see? 01:22:23 Speaker 9: Uh? 01:22:24 Speaker 1: Did you see Sidney Sweeney's interview last week that was going viral Coach McGuire, but her denim coach McGuire, he can hear this. He we're talking about coach ruling the Huskers right now? Did you Yeah? Did you see the way Sidney Sweeney answered that pr question last week? 01:22:36 Speaker 2: Yeah, Until there's a problem I wanna address, I'll if. 01:22:40 Speaker 1: I feel like there's something there, you will hear me speak on it. But right now, there's nothing there. With TJ. Latiff and being the future quarterback of Nebraska, this is one football. He's a freshman, right, and he's a baller. But again, this is this is this is not a big enough sample size. If you're gonna get a sample size of TJ. Latif, and this would actually be a conversation, you need three or four games of ball before you play like a good defense, because after three or four games you now have tendencies to where it's like, all right, they called the game a certain way out there against UCLA four TG latite to be successful and he bowled out and UCLA. 01:23:12 Speaker 2: Didn't know what you guys are gonna do? Right, I understand that. Yeah, what the original question was is if TJ. Latif plays like that for the next three four games. 01:23:19 Speaker 1: Yeah, if that becomes an issue, that's when Will Compton will speak on it. 01:23:23 Speaker 2: Right now, that's what we'll have the conversation. Let's have the conversation. But coach Rewire, let's get. 01:23:29 Speaker 1: Left talking about the Huskers. 01:23:31 Speaker 2: He got a little nervous, got a little nervous. 01:23:34 Speaker 1: He's like I watched Busts with the boys. You're gonna have to give Will about ten to fifteen minutes with the Huskers. 01:23:38 Speaker 2: Here's what I love. Coach, Hey, please, just let's give a coach a right of applause real quick for being in here. Big win, big win and tahos uh. We have a lot of coaches on that after big games they get wins and they do a zoom call with us and every coach like Dan lenn he's got the big oh in the back with some wings going off. We had who's the coach for Notre Dame who's the coach for Freeman? Freeman, He's got the nice wood. I love the simplicity of your desk right now. Looks like you're sitting at a cubicle. You're keeping the main thing, the main thing. Well, everybody is like, this team is spending all the money in the world. How does it feel to have college game day in Lubbock, Texas and be able to put on a performance that you guys did against BYU. 01:24:21 Speaker 4: It was incredible. I wish I would have got to experience it starting Sunday because they started camping out on Sunday. There was a there was a party Tuesday night, Wednesday night, Thursday night that I've never seen anything like it. I wanted to be a college kid. 01:24:37 Speaker 5: You. 01:24:38 Speaker 4: I mean, we got barber's out there, we had two DJ's out there, we had a couple of people doing nails. Thursday night went all that long, I mean in the entire night, So it was pretty incredible. And then having game day here and it just made it even better that Friday night going into Saturday morning. 01:24:57 Speaker 2: You got a seven days of parting to taking place. You've got twenty three transfers and everyone transfer portal classes. Last year everyone's playing like absolute dogs together like they've been they have no other since birth. What's the conversation like with these guys when you're like, hey, listen, I know there's some pretty girls out there right now and they're partying Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday for this game, how do you limit distractions and keep these guys focused on ball? Because we've all been in college, we've all been out there. There's a couple of parties going on. Nothing says I want to be undisciplined like a Tuesday night party, no doubt. 01:25:32 Speaker 4: A couple of things. One, we embraced it from the standpoint, like it literally you walked out of our front door and the tempts were right there outside of our facility. We connect our facility connects to the stadium and so it was right outside. So like Wednesday practice, we walked through it going down to the stadium to end practice. So we embraced it. But the one thing, this is an old team. We like in our advanced scouting, there hasn't been a team yet that is taking as many snaps offensive, defensively and special teams as this team has. So this is an old team and they understand man, we talk about it all the time, you know, make it about football, like all the stuff around it. That's the great thing about college football, the pageantry, you know, everything that goes on to get to Saturday. But when that ball is kicked off, we got to make it about football. 01:26:29 Speaker 1: And they did a. 01:26:30 Speaker 4: Great job of doing it, you know, and really policing themselves. 01:26:35 Speaker 1: Coach, Clearly, the job is not finished. But going into the season, you know, the speculation around Texas Tech and all the guys that you brought in from the portal, the talk was you guys brought in a lot of mercenaries. Is this money and everything else paying these players? Is it actually going to work out? And you were having conversation with Josh Payton everybody else saying that this is as close of a group as you've been around. Clearly, the job is not finished. But now looking at the product that they've put on the field, how proud of you? How proud are you? And not surprised are you of what this football team has accomp accomplished this season? 01:27:09 Speaker 4: Yeah? First, I love your hat man, that's awesome. 01:27:11 Speaker 1: Hey, thank you. We'll get you one. We will ship you one today. 01:27:14 Speaker 4: Yeah, that's cool. You know, I'm extremely proud. I'm proud of the guys that we were able to retain the guys that chose to stay with Baron and Jay Rod Jack Rodriguez and you know, Ben Roberts, Sheridan Wilson, on and on an old koy Ake and I don't want to miss anybody, but I'm proud of those guys because they helped me so much create what it means to be a Red Raider and what are culture's all about. And then man, we had such buy in. Well one reason I think we had such buy in, And if you came into this building, you would understand this. There's not one single person, it's on my staff that doesn't believe that the most important thing we have in this building is the player. And they feel it every single day. So if you're our head, our head dietitian, your job is to make sure that you're the best in the country at what you do, and you make it all about the player, and it goes on and on from the trainer to the street staff. And we're like that every single day. We don't deviate from what we do, so they have a constant reminder that we care about him at a very high level, and they play like it. And I'm proud because in this world right now, it's all about you know, what have you done for me lately? It's all about me, me, me, and one thing that you've got to do. In a team sport, it's got to be about the team. It's got to be about you know, the greater, greater than yourself. And these guys have really bought into that. 01:28:44 Speaker 1: Coach you you brought up one name, Jacob Rodriguez, you guys being in the Big twelve, him being a defensive guy. You have things going against you from a national media layscape or national recognition. Why should a guy like Jacob Rodriguez being the Heisman conversation? And can you talk but the impact he has as a defensive player on the field. 01:29:04 Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, And I don't want to. I'm not trying to disrespect anybody. I mean, I just go back and I mean, I'm a football gee, you know, I mean I'm about to when we get off here, I'm literally gonna pull up the brackets of the Texas High School Coaches Association brackets to look through every level of who's playing who, And you know, I just go back, and I think about different people, like whenever Travis won it last year, how could you not give it to Travis. He's the most dominant when you look around college right now, Like I think the Indiana quarterbacks playing, I think that the Ohio State quarterbacks playing at a high level for their positions. I think Jacob rov is, Like, I know there's linebackers out there, like Ohio State's got a linebacker that's playing at a really high level. I just know what my guy does down after down after down, and there's some freaky, freaky stats. It haven't been done by defensive players. Like the dudes punched out seven footballs this year. He had another interception that he tipped it to his cell, and then he recovered a fumble, I mean, and then he had fourteen tackles. 01:30:14 Speaker 6: I mean. 01:30:14 Speaker 4: The dude just's he's an absolute machine and he's everything right about college football. The dude slept on his floor as a walk on during the spring semester until I had a scholarship whenever he transferred from Virginia Virginia. So it's it's just like there's so many things. Plus his wife's a badass. He's an army of black Hawks, black Hawks helicopter pilots. 01:30:41 Speaker 1: So shit, ste Dude, that is incredible. Yeah, we need there needs to be. 01:30:47 Speaker 2: Like some sort of like ad campaign that takes place for this individual. 01:30:51 Speaker 1: So there there is one there. Because the last time a linebacker has been in the Heisman conversation was Mantitao. Man Titayo had about one and thirteen ten. Right now, Jacob Rodriguez is on pace to beat that. He's averaging like eight and a half nine a game. Main Titeo had seven takeaways during his senior season. Coach has mentioned it. He's punched out seven balls, he's forced seven fumbles, and he has ten takeaways right now on the season alone. So I do think that conversation will start really coming alive. But dude, that is incredible. The whole sleeping on the floor, that is awesome. 01:31:25 Speaker 2: You brought up having conversations with players when you're bringing a bunch of these guys in and one Newsworthy type thing was you had a bunch of guys that played for you last year on the defensive line, and then you brought in a bunch of individuals as well. I want to know how that conversation takes place with these guys that play a lot of snaps for you, they're expecting to take the next step, they want to be a starter. They have dreams and aspirations of being in the NFL, and you essentially have to sit there and be like, hey, we're bringing in these guys, You're going to be more of a rotational player. Like, talk to me about those players their ego and how they're able to put it to the side and understand that the team's most important, but also like they're chasing their dreams. Is a very unique situation that you have in a world that everybody just wants to get the most money and the most playing time. We had a bunch of cake eaters in college football right now it seems like Texas Tech does not have any of those. 01:32:16 Speaker 3: One. 01:32:16 Speaker 4: You know, it's probably easier on the defensive side of the ball than on the office side of the ball, because you know, you do rotate a lot of guys, so you're gonna have snaps kind of be broken up. But you know, I think one thing I can tell you is we brought in dudes like and so I think if you're real, if you really understand football and you bring in a Romeo Height and you're sitting there trying to compare yourself to Romelo Height. You find out real quiet quick that you can't compare yourself to that dude. When you bring in a David Bailey and you're like, man, I should be playing over this guy. And then you see David Bailey play it, You're like, you have to like be so delusional that you're not supposed to be behind him. And so I think that helps, Like you gotta be real careful. I remember saving saying it last week. Got to be in the right guys, who got to pay the right guys, and and so I think that's really important. But I do believe talking to these guys too about look, he is only gonna make you a better football player, because one, you're gonna try to play to his level. In two, in the defensive line, you're not supposed to be playing seventy and eighty snaps. You know you're not supposed to be, And so you get some of that taken off your body and you're gonna get to play at a higher level. So they understand that. But that was one thing that was important. It's like I was talking to my GM and I was like, man, when we bring guys in, if they're comparable our guy, then why are we doing it. We got to bring in dudes that are definitely gonna make us better and our players can see that. 01:33:50 Speaker 1: Coach, I know, I listened to your interview with Josh Payton. You brought up a couple couple of mentors, a couple guys along the way, and it was a coach woods and coach rule. And so I reached out the coach rule and asked him and told him that I'll be having you on this morning, and he wanted me to bring up your first interview with him at I hop How was that breakfast? 01:34:10 Speaker 6: Well, I've been We went. 01:34:11 Speaker 4: To about three pots of coffee. You know. It was one of those deals I'll never forget. It was a Sunday morning, and we had to do it on Sunday because he works for me, David Martin. He was playing for a state championship in Oklahoma Friday night, and we had this deal to where whoever lost had to cross the Red River and go watch the other guy play. So I was supposed to interview with Coach Roll on Friday, and I called him. I said, Coach I'll do I'll come back Saturday morning. I'll do whatever I said, But I can't watch my buddy not play for the state championship. And so he won his first state championship. Came back to Texas and met with coach in Hillsborough and I hop and my wife, whenever I was leaving, she goes, you know you're never gonna leave. 01:35:00 Speaker 1: Why are you. 01:35:02 Speaker 4: Going to talk to this guy? And I said, man, there's just something about him and I got to find out what it is. And whenever I walked out at the meeting here, I called Debbie and I said, hey, if he offers us a job of going to favor and the thing that he talked about is how much he pour and he does and everything he said he does he pours into players. I believe in that. I believe in making these guys men that they're supposed to become, and. 01:35:27 Speaker 1: He does that. 01:35:28 Speaker 4: He is a tough guy. His teams are physical. I believe in that. 01:35:32 Speaker 1: And so we just hit it off. 01:35:34 Speaker 4: And I tell everybody this, if I hadn't have been hired by Matt Rule, because I was probably going to go to college, I had the opportunity, but that was my son's senior year and everything was going to change. I wouldn't be at Texas Tech without Matt Role, and the reason is because he has no ego when it comes to pour an end of coaches. And I walked by his office one day day and he said get in here. This is like three to four weeks into the job, and he goes, hey, man, you're supposed to be a head coach. I've been a head coach fourteen years. And I was like, you know, I like to think that I should be. He goes, no, no, no, you're supposed to be a head coach at this level. Let me show you what you don't know. And it was roster management. It was about recruiting. It was about graduating players early, letting them start their masters when they still had two years left in the program. Like just stuff like that that you know as a high school coach I didn't have to deal with. 01:36:27 Speaker 1: That is awesome. That is awesome. He also said, you loved wearing a jacket in mornings in case they made the coaches run. 01:36:35 Speaker 4: Well, let me tell you it was. It was pretty cold one morning and I should have known by his reaction. 01:36:44 Speaker 6: So i' mean we're going to. 01:36:45 Speaker 4: The indoor to do our fourth quarter. And it's in February, and I've got shorts on, and I said, how's it going, coach, And he goes, not good. He was pissed off about something and I should have turned around and got some clothes. Well I didn't, and instead of doing the fourth quarter and in or we did the fourth quarter and in the frost and helped the football field and I froze my tailloff and being on it didn't matter what the weather was like. I dressed warm for those early mornings because I didn't know what kind of mood it was going to be in. And I make sure my taillof I love that. 01:37:22 Speaker 2: While you were telling those amazing stories, I was handed a note by one of our producers. Texas Tech has never won a Big twelve championship. And I don't say that to rub it in. I said, because you're a staring down the barrel of an opportunity here to bring home the first Big Big twelve championship to Texas Tech. Patrick Mahomes is at the game this past weekend. He's talking about, you know, when I was here, we didn't really have this kind of environment. It's so amazing to see love of Texas like acting like this crazy. They're they're they're camping out seven five, six days before. Now you have an opportunity to do something that Texas Tech has never done. You have a massive game with college game be there. Now, you got UCF coming in. How do you keep the train and keep these guys all focused knowing that you're have the opportunity to do something that's never been done before at that College'll. 01:38:06 Speaker 4: Go back to the coach rule, you know, his big motto is what's next? 01:38:11 Speaker 1: You know. 01:38:11 Speaker 4: And I walked into the locker room. I was one of the first guys in the locker room after the game and Jake Brodriguez I think it was the first player in the game. And I came over and gave him a hug and said how proud I was of him, and he goes, Coach, I just want to remind you this wasn't our goal and we got more in front of us. He said, let's be happy, but what's next? And I was like, man, here's a player saying that. He said it to the guys in the weight room yesterday during our lyft before our team meeting. You know, we understood what a year this was. You know how big of a year this was going to be because we can eliminate so many excuses and things that people use against us in recruiting. You know, we we have the best facility in the country. I mean, it's absolutely incredible, and so whenever people say we got better facilities now they don't. We share at the highest level when it comes to the revenue sharing. So it's not the money. You know. The thing that people can use against us is we've never won the Big twelve. So that's that's the next box we're trying to check off. So now we have no excuse to you know, compete for it. You're in and year out. 01:39:14 Speaker 1: Coach Man. We're rooting for you the rest of the way, bro, Thank you for taking time out of your morning to join busting with the boys. Good luck. The rest of the way, we will be rooting for you, and we will be you know, as a linebacker, I'll be helping try and carry the torch to get Jacob Rodriguez in more of this national conversation. But thank you, thank you man. 01:39:32 Speaker 4: Man. 01:39:33 Speaker 6: I'm a big fan of you guys. 01:39:34 Speaker 4: I freaking love it. I love what you do for college football and really appreciate having me on. 01:39:39 Speaker 1: Man, we gotta get out there. We gotta get out there. 01:39:41 Speaker 2: Yeah, gotta go out there. If this is an invite, I'm. 01:39:45 Speaker 4: Telling you I'll take care of you. Had the best steak you've ever had. 01:39:48 Speaker 1: Man, we gotta go. We gotta go to an I Hop. 01:39:51 Speaker 2: We gotta have breakfast at I Hop, three pots of coffee, and then we'll finish it off with the best think we've ever had. We're gonna get your address. We're gonna send you a bunch of dad. Which girl are you? You're obviously a father. How many kids do you have. 01:40:03 Speaker 4: I've got two kids. My daughter is a Red Raider, she's a fashion designer in Manhattan, New York. And my son actually coached for coach Rule at Carolina Panthers at Nebraska and now he's my running back coach. 01:40:17 Speaker 2: So keep it in the house, man, I love him. That's amazing. We'll get you some dad merch. We're looking forward to seeing you during spring balls. Give coach went one more round of a pause. Thank you, coach. Think you've been taking the time man, Yes, sir, Indiana Penn State people would keep forgetting that Penn State's got a top twenty five roster, and they showed. They showed Indiana that right to the end, man, what a throw and catch? Who is the wide receiver they caught that ball? 01:40:42 Speaker 1: Cooper, Dude, Cooper, unbelievable. And that Fernando Mendoza kid, he is just do that final drive unreal awesome to see the way he was spinning the catches that these receivers are making, like only in spots that they could catch him starting off and getting sacked to start the drive was kind of like, oh shit, Like Penn State might upset this Indiana team. Everybody's gonna be waiting to say overrated all of this stuff you kind of see because it's the. 01:41:08 Speaker 2: Worst team for it to happen to. Yeah, yeah, if Ohio State got upset by by Penn State, would be the whole conversation will be around, Well, that's a good roster. Those guys are all you know, James Franklin's gone blah blah blah. Indiana loses, It's like they are who we thought they were. Yeah, yeah, people are begging Indiana to suck. You think, so what Gi Sa Guigo's They still might be who we thought they. 01:41:28 Speaker 1: Were, they could be, like, that's gonna be the first thing if they drop a game, if they you know, college will playoff. Let's say their ranked in the top four, because that's where they're trending right now. We'll actually get to watch them against Ohio State most likely in the Big Ten Championship, so we will get to see. But I just think, like for Fernando Mendoza, the whole Heisman campaign and everything else, like there are moments that guys are gonna have to have, and I feel like he got to have a Heisman moment on that final drive, like this dude was spinning the rock. But they very well could be, like they could get their ass beat like they did last year in the college wool will playoff. 01:42:00 Speaker 2: Yeah, they got to walk through for the rest of their season. They Wisconsin and Purdue. Matt Matt put it on what's that Wisconsin? That's a good that's a good Washington football team. What do you argue the best quarterback, running back, receiver trio and all the Big Ten? 01:42:17 Speaker 1: What do you got jp? 01:42:18 Speaker 9: Matt put it on our radar this morning. One of the Indiana receivers is from father Ian. He had seven catches yesterday for like one hundred and thirty yards. 01:42:27 Speaker 2: Is this the same kid who was like his career he had seven catches and just in this game alone, he doubled his career catches. Probably because I saw a stat line. I don't remember who exactly it was, but it was like seven catches, one hundred and thirty something. 01:42:38 Speaker 1: Nashville guys dominating college football. 01:42:41 Speaker 2: Dude, boys man love to see it. 01:42:44 Speaker 1: What what are your guys' thoughts on the Fernando Mendoza Julian saying Heisman race Heisman conversation. I'm fired up about learning more about Jacob Rodriguez. You see names getting thrown around, Jeremiah Smith, Jeremiah love, Ty Simpson in the conversation, Emmitt Johnson getting in the conversation. 01:43:03 Speaker 2: Hneyards rushing, hun yards receiving in a game this year. 01:43:06 Speaker 1: Yeah, I want to say he's the first guy in the history for Nebraska to really I know somebody was kind of trying to fact check it, like, I don't know if that's confirmed. That's what was. You're even Rex didn't receive, He didn't play receiver as much as a mirror. But yeah, bro, Emma Johnson's flat out bawling, like the dude should be absolutely an All American for him to have what does he have? He leads the country. I believe in all purpose he's one or two. He's one or two. He's second in rushing, second in rushing. Fourteen touchdowns he said, two twenty and three touchdowns this past game against UCLA. He's a baller bro he's balling. But to bring it back, like, what are your guys thoughts on the conversation, I was going back and forth with some Ohio State fans. I'm doing my best about yo. Julian Saying is a stud. I believe he's a stud. 01:43:58 Speaker 2: The only the only game I've been able to watch of Ohio State that like I really would tune into was the Penn State game last week and then when they played Washington, And it's like, Julian Saying is a good football player. He throw, he gets the ball out quick, he makes great decisions when he gets in a pinch, he uses his legs, his limited athletic ability to get him the first down to move the chains. They don't have like the best run game in the in the entire world. But my question is, is Julian Saying that good or does he have the two best wide receivers in college football and for that reason he is that good. I'm sure there's some sort of combination of the two. And being a Michigan guy, I don't want to like disrespect the kid, because I do think he's balling out right now, but there is something to be said about, you know, Jeremiah Smith and was it Cardinell. 01:44:39 Speaker 7: Take Carnell tell you, I think he does definitely have freaks around him. I mean, he's it looks like he's the Him and Mendoz are tied at plus one sixty five when the FANDUL sports book at for odds, and. 01:44:49 Speaker 1: The next one's Ty Simpson at plus five hundred, So right now it's a two man race. 01:44:53 Speaker 7: I mean, I think Marcel Reid, with who he's like, the teams that he's playing, and how he's like played, I think he should be higher up. But I think like if Fernando Mendoza wins it, I think it's kind of like a boring Heisman Trophy winner because he hasn't like he doesn't really make flashy plays. He just doesn't necessarily make them. Those mistakes. Niniana hasn't necessarily played anybody other than Oregon, and I don't think if I remember correctly, he played all that well. Like neither of them have really had like a oh, that's like their Heisman moment, that's their Heisman game. Like I think Jeremiah Love he's a stud and I mean what he put he had like six touchdowns in one. 01:45:29 Speaker 1: Game or whatever it was. 01:45:30 Speaker 2: Yeah, I remember somebody said he would be the Heisman. 01:45:33 Speaker 1: I forget who it was. 01:45:34 Speaker 2: For me. 01:45:34 Speaker 1: It's just like the comparable that I was diving into was being surrounded by freaks. People brought up Joe Burrow and I'm like, yeah, well Joe Burrow threw for like over six thousand yards or like around six thousand yards and what sixty touchdowns. Yeah, and he goes on He's, you know, undefeated season, He's beaten teams Bama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, like the schedule that Ohio States had. If Julian Saying is surrounded by these freaks because like their run game has been what it's been in the past at Ohio State, like Julian Saying, like they would be dominating teams and he would his stat line would be far and above anybody else's and since it's comparable with Fernando Mendoza, Mendoza having like a Heisman moment that people got to kind of witness on the stage against Penn State when Penn State was about to upset them. I just think it's like, Yo, Bernando Mendoza's has done more with lay with way less as he's kind of come onto the scene. 01:46:26 Speaker 2: I agree with that, but also like Ohio State, you can tell the trust they have and Julian standing because they their run game is not as good, but they do not want to run the ball. They want to throw the ball. And so the kid's been putting the ball in the right spot very rarely, as there are a lot of like dbs drenched around these wide receivers, but he's still like he throws a great deep ball, puts it right in the bucket. I mean, these guys going across the field like there's no one around, but he's putting it right on the chest to the wide receivers. Yeah, there's a level of like this kid has a lot of talent. Obviously, I think he has. If I were to give it to somebody right now, it would be Fernando Mendoza, for the reasons you said, like he's doing he's got less players around him. I think it'd be sick if Indiana got themselves a Heisman winner Ohio State. How many do they have, like five or six something like that. 01:47:10 Speaker 1: Yeah, I just feel like usually in college football there's somebody who's just dominating the statu sheet. And if somebody is gonna be doing it, it would be Julian Insane right now. And it's just not dominant the way that you would typically see one of these Beast quarterbacks, especially when you're surrounded by aliens, like dominating the scene all season long. 01:47:27 Speaker 2: I do like the Marshall Reider. I like the Marshall read like he is a fucking baller. 01:47:31 Speaker 7: Really insane. I think as like an eighty percent completion percentage, which is kind of insane. 01:47:35 Speaker 1: Throws a good d ball, but again it's just like he has studs, so it studs. 01:47:40 Speaker 6: You can literally just throw it. 01:47:41 Speaker 2: Up in it two top five picks. 01:47:46 Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, I agree, Like you throw you throw a ball up to Carnel Tait and Jeremiah Smith, like a fifty fifty ball. 01:47:52 Speaker 6: It's fifty. 01:47:52 Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like eighty twenty. 01:47:53 Speaker 7: Yeah, like those those guys are insane. Shout out Ryan Hartline for recruiting. 01:47:58 Speaker 2: The stat dominators. 01:48:00 Speaker 1: Supposed to be Leonora Sellers, DJ Lagway. He got benched over the weekend. Meyer, he was not got benched. 01:48:09 Speaker 2: What a weird year it's been for quarterbacks. Yeah, like it was a kid club Nick. He was supposed to be something special. Yeah, and I haven't really heard about him at all since who they lose to you early in the year l s U but somebody else. Yeah, but this the second loss, when we're like, okay, Clemson's frauds, it was like kid's been Like now out of the conversation, Nut Meyer, he's got no bleak. He doesn't have a bleak. Now he's like benched. It's crazy. Diego Pavia, that was a fun conversation for a week. Now he's seventeenth. He went off. But I feel like that that conversation's kind of like gone away. 01:48:46 Speaker 6: Is up there? 01:48:48 Speaker 1: Yeah, seventeen quarterbacks. 01:48:50 Speaker 10: Okay, I was going I was going to say, I still think Diego Pobby has a real shot to win the Heisman if they went out beat Tennessee get into college football playoff. 01:48:58 Speaker 6: I think Poppy has got a real shot to. 01:48:59 Speaker 1: Win, especially when you get the pavia moments going like yeah, if they if they win out and he's got the Paviat moments, he'll very much be in that conversation. 01:49:06 Speaker 10: He'll have his Heisman moment if they beat Tennessee when those other guys don't really have a Heisman moment yet, but they will play the conference championship against each other. Mendoza and saying four technically the big ten and the Heisman. Did I say when I'm taking Vanderbilt money Line versus Tennessee? 01:49:23 Speaker 2: Letting it be known right now, Jack, how'd your Florida Gators do? 01:49:28 Speaker 4: This week? 01:49:31 Speaker 1: We're focused on the next head coach. It was the worst loss in school history. 01:49:35 Speaker 10: To quote Josh Pat, they watched the games in black and white since the last time Florida was beat that bad. 01:49:39 Speaker 2: But Brian stock Low, Hey, Brian Stocklow. 01:49:43 Speaker 10: Lane Kiffin will be the next head coach of the Florida Gators and Vanderbilt money Line. 01:49:50 Speaker 6: I mean, I don't care what Clump has to say. 01:49:53 Speaker 8: His opinion to me is truly that of like a teenager who doesn't know what breakfast heial he wants to eat. 01:50:01 Speaker 2: You really rounded that out, Jack, because I saw you like thinking through that insult. 01:50:06 Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm not at this point, Tennessee season's over. I mean, I'm just stoked for Vanny to come in to kneeling and hear that noise. It's gonna be loud as hell. People hate Diego, Pavia, Knoxville. It's gonna be loud. And I'm not saying it's gonna be easy. But Clump texted our social group me while I was away for a wedding this weekend. It was the only text I even looked at, and it was Tennessee is gonna lose to Florida and Vanderbilt. 01:50:31 Speaker 6: And I knew he was just saying it. 01:50:33 Speaker 4: No, no, there's context, the context. 01:50:39 Speaker 1: I don't want to be. 01:50:39 Speaker 2: I don't want to be on the camera. 01:50:41 Speaker 10: Porter posted, uh, Tennessee has a real chance to make the playoff, and I said, there's no shot Tennessee can make the playoff. 01:50:48 Speaker 6: That's what the discussion was. 01:50:49 Speaker 1: Got you got you we do? 01:50:51 Speaker 2: Uh? 01:50:51 Speaker 1: Mitch brought it up Marcel Reed Garrett before we came on. He was kind of saying that Texas A and M should be the number one of the team in the country. My question to you guys, why. 01:51:02 Speaker 3: I mean you're talking about like beating teams bad. I feel like A and M is beating teams bad. They beat the ship out of. 01:51:10 Speaker 2: Missou closer for a sec? What's that close for a second? 01:51:15 Speaker 1: Okay, second third string quarterback? 01:51:19 Speaker 3: I mean okay, but like, but you're talking about like Ohio State should be blowing people out. They're not really blowing people out. 01:51:25 Speaker 9: Uh. 01:51:25 Speaker 3: They also had a close game against Penn State, whose garbage. 01:51:29 Speaker 1: Penn State's not going Okay, So who is who is A and M beat outside of Notre Dame? What do you mean who's A and M beat outside of Notre Dame. I'm looking at Auburn. They're not good. Florida is trash. Arkansas they beat Arkansas by three points. They beat Notre Dame. Yeah, I sit outside of Notre Dame. 01:51:45 Speaker 2: Who's there? 01:51:45 Speaker 1: Who's their best one? They beat Notre Dame by one? Yes, But so is Ohio State. 01:51:51 Speaker 3: Okay, I'm just telling you my side of the argument. I think that what they're doing is proving more than what Ohio State in Indiana's prove. 01:51:58 Speaker 2: I love how Will asked a question. I'm going, here's your kids have to say? Who the fuck did they played dunk team. 01:52:05 Speaker 6: I don't see nobody. Here's who they're going again. 01:52:07 Speaker 1: Here's what happens. People latch onto the Penn State. Penn State's a bad football team, like still arguably an incredible roster, which a lot of these SEC teams have, and they still end up like laying eggs. Like these teams that I'm I'm mentioning are like not good. Okay, so people talk about Ohio State's schedule, Indiana's schedule. It's like, okay, well, what do you compare? 01:52:25 Speaker 3: Would you compare Penn State's roster in Florida's roster like in that type of argument. 01:52:31 Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I think all these teams are right off in the SEC at one point time, it's like this could be a good team because they have good rosters. 01:52:39 Speaker 3: So what was the score for the Penn State Indiana game right now? 01:52:43 Speaker 6: They one score? 01:52:44 Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, yeahaha. 01:52:46 Speaker 3: If you're going to compare rosters that way, A and M beat Florida thirty four to seventeen. 01:52:50 Speaker 1: They also beat Arkansas by three points. Okay, they almost got upset by Arkansas. 01:52:55 Speaker 3: Like this conversation will will hear the same thing is I have one belief and you have. 01:53:03 Speaker 1: The other well, because again, yeah, I'm setting I was like setting that up because I'm like excited to have this argument because everybody, everybody want to say a. 01:53:12 Speaker 3: Thirty one they're putting up. They beat Notre Dame forty one to forty. 01:53:17 Speaker 1: At Notre Dame in the year Notre Dame done fumble this. 01:53:20 Speaker 2: Same points and am should have lost that game. There's a massive holding on fourth down too, say it again. 01:53:29 Speaker 3: Yeah, and I think that they are beating teams at a larger margin than some of these other undefeated teams. 01:53:37 Speaker 2: I think Ohio State matches up real well against Texas. 01:53:39 Speaker 3: It'll be a great game. 01:53:40 Speaker 2: Yeah, it would be a fantastic game. I don't think you can take away Texas at one just because they're quietly beating everybody. And I think they're covering too Texas at A and M. No, I'm sorry, Ohio State. You can't take Ohio State at away at one because they're just like they beat Texas, which is like their biggest win. Texas has come back in big way, but that wasn't the team they played a week one. They've just quietly been doing their thing like their schedule is their schedule. But they're beating teams, they're covering against teams and they never seen it. Like they just seem very complete and they're like onto the next like they seem like they're stacking blocks as opposed to yea, you know the other really good teams where it's like, oh shit, are. 01:54:20 Speaker 1: They Nobody has scored over sixteen points against ohioste. 01:54:23 Speaker 2: Right, which hasn't happened since twenty thirteen or twenty twenty three. 01:54:28 Speaker 1: Fourteen pencety put up fourteen, Perdue put up ten, Wisconsin zero, Illinois sixteen, Minnesota three, Washington six. 01:54:36 Speaker 3: What are their points? What are Ohio State's points in those games? 01:54:39 Speaker 2: Hostate? 01:54:39 Speaker 1: I think so here, I'll rattle it off because they haven't outside of Ohas State vers Text where they won fourteen seven, it's been seventy nothing, thirty seven nine, twenty four to six, forty two to three, thirty four to sixteen, thirty four to nothing, thirty eight to fourteen, thirty four to ten. 01:54:56 Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, dude, they are those teams. They are the most complete team in college football right now. Yeah, yeah, seventy And you. 01:55:06 Speaker 1: Want to know something, I'd love to see him trip up in the college payoffs. 01:55:12 Speaker 2: Whoa buddy, I'm letting you know. This is November twenty ninth. Oh yeah, perfect game, like running the ball like they if there's one thing in their defense does not do extraordinarily well, it's protecting the run. And I'm telling you, if we can get Brian Harley, because I have so much respect for Brian Hartline like him as an OC, He's obviously do an incredible job this year. Him as a recruiter with the wide receivers, like Ohio State is wide receiver. You know, people want to talk about USU and all that. It's like you look at recency biased, all of the best wide receivers in the NFL are Ohio State guys. He has done amazing. He's got two top five probably two top five top ten picks at the wide receiver position. Julian stand is playing incredible. But I'm just telling you, dude. And Arbor Michigan November twenty ninth, it's it's this is the same two teams as last year, but Michigan is just a little bit better. Michigan at this point last year was five and four. We're seven to two. We I think we're gonna stream it. 01:56:21 Speaker 1: Hey all to say, love, arguing, love all. That's what makes this sport insane. I would love to see Ohio State trip up against Michigan. I'd love to see Indiana go undefeated in the Big Ten championship. I'd love to see Ohio State whoop Indiana to where all the conversations against the Big Ten. Maybe A and M goes undefeated. May A and M makes it goes all the way to the championship, and then they just somehow lose to a rematch versus Notre Dame. Then the Independence School, the Independent School, Notre Dame takes everybody down to where you know, the SEC hasn't the Big Ten. You know they played nobody. Ohill State lost to Michigan. Dude, oh I'll State blew out Indiana. We know Indiana was overrated there, nobody's now we're in the college football. 01:57:01 Speaker 2: Meanwhile, me while we're sitting here talking about two conferences, the Big Ten and the SEC, Texas Tech Joy McGwire, Yeah, yeah, we could just be sitting and be like, hey, SEC's matter, no Big techs man and Texas chech just fucking runs through people. In the month of January, Texas Tech Notre Dame in the championship. 01:57:19 Speaker 1: Big twelve in Texas Tech. That's the winner. 01:57:21 Speaker 6: I would love to see that. 01:57:23 Speaker 7: Texas defense is real, nasty, bro. I think they're like top three, top five and like points liber game I think. 01:57:31 Speaker 1: And last year, Bro, they were like in the one twenties. 01:57:34 Speaker 6: They're unreal. 01:57:35 Speaker 2: I love and they're getting on the bus right too. They're gonna keep really because I love the idea of Texas Tech just. 01:57:43 Speaker 3: Winnings in the best spot right watching Chaos and two, yeah. 01:57:48 Speaker 2: The best spot. And also Buddy like just to bring it back to the Big Ten a little bit. Everyone and their mother has been like Oregon, we're done with them. Since they lost Indiana. Everyone's kind of like, ah, you know, we'll see if they get in the playoff, see if they don't. Like maybe Dan Lanny has us exactly where he wants us, because last year they're flying high, right, they beat the brakes off of Penn State. The Big Ten championship is really just a shootout. But you know what I'm saying, Everyone's like, this is the team this and then all of a sudden, a pissed off Ohio State team just comes and runs through everybody but the Ducks. Baby I'm the Ducks and also the Dogs bringing the go back to the SEC. Dogs don't care about your feelings. They really don't. And they just are quietly winning games and being a top five team and like kind of covering they covered this past weekend then not covering. But it's like Kirby Smart does not give a shit He's gonna be in the SEC Championship against Alabama. Oh fuck, you're right. I just keep forgetting about A and M. 01:58:44 Speaker 7: Did you watch the Oregon Iowa? 01:58:45 Speaker 2: Yeah, I watched. I watched the second half of it. I was at David Busters with five kids by myself. 01:58:50 Speaker 6: Iowa. 01:58:51 Speaker 7: I think I think Iowa has it was awesome. Iowa like their rush defense was like top ten as it normally is, Like they allowed like ninety yards per game. I think Oregon rushed for like two hundred yards. They have like a four headed monster in the running back room, like they they can like beat whoever. 01:59:09 Speaker 2: Dud Peyton said it like Oregon. Everyone thinks it's like a high flying offense. They averaged six point seven yards per carry on the ground and it was what forty two degrees rainy? 01:59:19 Speaker 1: They beat Iowa at Iowa football, Yes, and it couldn't have started any better a safety two to nothing right out of there. 01:59:27 Speaker 2: Then and then they would go up with a minute twenty left in the game, and then it's like, fuck it done, crazy. 01:59:35 Speaker 1: I was praying for just fourth quarter, it's two to nothing, Iowa kicks a field goal. Then Oregon goes down and kicks a game winning field goal to win five. 01:59:44 Speaker 2: Also like that Steelers Chargers game. 01:59:47 Speaker 1: US, Where did Oregon end up on the AP this week? Because the eight people didn't have Ioway in the top twenty five last week, so I'm sure they don't see it as like a quality whatsoever. 01:59:59 Speaker 7: Right now? 02:00:00 Speaker 2: Oregon seven, they dropped one spot. 02:00:01 Speaker 1: Yeah, I think you could flip miss flip Oregon. 02:00:05 Speaker 2: But oh missus quiet. Everyone's like the hood coach is leaving and they're just nine and one sitting there. 02:00:13 Speaker 3: We have a huge one this weekend. I do think it's ahead, but it could shake things up. 02:00:20 Speaker 1: Who does it Bama got this week? 02:00:21 Speaker 3: Oklahoma? 02:00:22 Speaker 1: Yeah, because Olahoma's just kind of sitting there a bubble team. They're talking about them. 02:00:27 Speaker 2: Yeah, but as Oklahoma kind of like Missouri were like just begging to stay in the playoff conversation. And then it abruptly comes to a halt. 02:00:34 Speaker 1: I thought so until they went up to Tennessee and we all we all watched that game and it was like, what the hell is going on here? Dram tier like the nest. They need better offense, but like, I don't see it. 02:00:46 Speaker 2: Getting more dude, that that injury, I do not see it getting more. 02:00:51 Speaker 3: Before. Yeah, Florida and Mississippi State don't sleep, don't sleep, don't see on the rebels. 02:01:03 Speaker 2: And I'm telling dude, that Florida game right there is a scary one. It shouldn't be scary, but that's when it gets scary. 02:01:13 Speaker 1: Florida is dead freshmen. 02:01:16 Speaker 2: Florida is the penn state of the SEC outstanding roster. Can't put it together. Yeah, down their quarterback? 02:01:26 Speaker 1: Hey Bama two on that g Like yeah, it's like ty Simpson is gonna have to be connecting with these explosive plays. He had a couple where he's just missing. And since Bama can't run the football that well like Oklahoma, I feel like we'll kind of eat that up and it comes down to it. It's it feels like a matchup like Tennessee Oklahoma, where you guys can throw the ball Well. 02:01:47 Speaker 3: The one thing I like, though, is our defense is playing their best football right now. Yeah, Like they're flying around turnovers like that. We didn't have turnovers last year at all. We had two maybe three this game, but we turned the ball over in positive territory and only come out with three. Yeah, So it's like putting that away. Putting that away. Scoring with twenty seconds left in the first half the last three games is the best feeling. 02:02:14 Speaker 1: Yeah, sending that team. 02:02:15 Speaker 3: To the locker room like, motherfucker. 02:02:17 Speaker 1: All right, what do we think is going to happen in the Big twelve? Who you think is gonna be in the Big twelve Championship? 02:02:21 Speaker 2: Like, right now, I know we have I think I think we have watched that game this weekend week? 02:02:27 Speaker 1: Do you think so? You think by he takes down Cincinnati? 02:02:31 Speaker 2: Yeah? I do what. 02:02:35 Speaker 6: That? 02:02:37 Speaker 1: No, I'm I'm not saying he doesn't he doesn't need any Yeah, I don't need anymore. It's just more like Cincinnati has been a good team. They've kind of been fun to watch and see what. 02:02:49 Speaker 2: Yeah, b y you Cincinnati YU drops to Cincinnati? Does that put Utah in the Big Big twelve Championshipnati. 02:02:56 Speaker 3: Oh, We've only lost one one conference game, yes. 02:03:01 Speaker 2: And quietless. So Utah is just gonna be in the Big is gonna be in the playoff? 02:03:06 Speaker 1: Help Utah last week? 02:03:07 Speaker 2: There? 02:03:08 Speaker 1: Well, Utah might need help, but they're gonna be again. It's like they could finish. They'll finish ten and two and they'll just be sitting there Prime College Football Playoff conversation. 02:03:17 Speaker 2: And IF yeah for CF because you got IF. You're gonna have Oregon, Indiana, Ohio State, Michigan in there, and the and the Big Ten and the SEC. You're gonna have A and M, Alabama, Georgia, oh miss. 02:03:32 Speaker 6: Yeah. 02:03:33 Speaker 2: Is there any more that I need to be thinking of? 02:03:35 Speaker 3: Oklahoma's currently ranked twelve? 02:03:36 Speaker 2: Yeah, but they're currently ranked twelve, I must this is me assuming they dropped to Alabama, So that would be the four right there. So that's a ACC is gonna get one. So now it's nine like G five, G five, And then you're gonna have two spots for the Big twelve lost Memphis lost. 02:03:54 Speaker 1: You'll have one. You'll have one the Big Twelve championship. The Big Twelve champion will get in. Then it'll be like one one other. 02:04:01 Speaker 7: Well, here here's the here's a situation. 02:04:04 Speaker 1: Notre Dame will be in. So that's if Big ten and SEC get four in, which I don't think will happen. 02:04:09 Speaker 7: What if like since he beats b y U and then since he beats Texas Tech in the Big twelve championship, Dude, Like I feel like both though obviously Cincinnati will get an automatic berth Like, you're not gonna leave Texas Tech out? 02:04:22 Speaker 4: No? 02:04:22 Speaker 1: I yeah, I don't disagree with that. 02:04:24 Speaker 2: And who was saying that the committee the committee keeps keeps the championship like, doesn't put a lot of weight in the championship games? 02:04:32 Speaker 3: Corrects? 02:04:34 Speaker 1: Right, you get the automatical if somebody guess their breaks blown off, I think that they could. If you could, if you yeah, if they are two loss teams, which the only game. 02:04:41 Speaker 2: I see that happening is possibly Indian Oha State. 02:04:45 Speaker 1: But Indiana is undefeated and they still get in. Yeah, if they're one lost team, they that's where it's like they won't get punished for getting blown out in the Big Ten championships here. Excellent, all right, that is our college football talk.
