<v Speaker 1>batch of stuff to record.

<v Speaker 2>so let's plug that quickly before we get into today's thing,
<v Speaker 2>which is the best Simpsons and worst vacation episodes. But
<v Speaker 2>you said you've started a new one. Is it for

<v Speaker 1>It's kind of both, so it's out on the free feeds,

<v Speaker 1>I like to spend a vacation is you know, just
<v Speaker 1>sitting back and getting some time in with movies, catching
<v Speaker 1>up with all the films that I've been meaning to watch.
<v Speaker 1>And yeah, the premise of this new podcast is called
<v Speaker 1>Starring Springfield, So we are reviewing the movies that star
<v Speaker 1>the cast of the Simpsons, and it's been a really
<v Speaker 1>fun experiment. Just this criteria means we just get such
<v Speaker 1>a weird, interesting array of films. And yeah, it's not
<v Speaker 1>just animated films, because you know the Simpsons core cast,
<v Speaker 1>they're actors as well. So we're getting, you know, from
<v Speaker 1>cinematic classics like this is Spinal Tap starring Harry Shearer,
<v Speaker 1>to weird obscured, damn near forgotten films like nineteen ninety
<v Speaker 1>two's Toys.
<v Speaker 2>Can I throw one out there? You have you done
<v Speaker 2>this one yet? Because I just realized. I didn't realize
<v Speaker 2>Harry Shier was in it until the kids started watching yesterday,
<v Speaker 2>because this is a beloved film from when I was
<v Speaker 2>a kid. But it is Little Giant from nineteen ninety four,
<v Speaker 2>I believe, with Rick Moranis and Ed O'Neill as two
<v Speaker 2>brothers rival football coaches in a local town competing to
<v Speaker 2>be the dominant team in the small town in America.
<v Speaker 2>It's got Harry Shehiert as the commentator in it. You
<v Speaker 2>have you done this film yet? No, Little Giants. It
<v Speaker 2>is delightful.
<v Speaker 1>No, I've just pulled up the wiki of it. I'm
<v Speaker 1>not a big sports fan, but oh my gosh, I
<v Speaker 1>love a sports movie.
<v Speaker 2>You know. It's the Mighty Ducks in Peewee football, is
<v Speaker 2>what it is.
<v Speaker 1>Ah, you've sold me. Yeah, I'm looking. Yeah, kids' sports film.
<v Speaker 1>That's gonna be a whole lot of fun. Yeah, so

<v Speaker 1>reviewed the Aristocrats documentary, which was surprisingly hard to find
<v Speaker 1>despite being a Gillette pen documentary which stars both Hank
<v Speaker 1>Azaria and Harry Sheer giving their tellings of the famous
<v Speaker 1>Aristocrats joke.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, there we go. Yeah, when I spoke to Hank,
<v Speaker 2>he was just saying how we had it on the
<v Speaker 2>tuned in Jim Comings podcast a few weeks ago, and
<v Speaker 2>he was saying, how still to this day he has
<v Speaker 2>no self confidence when it comes to his acting. He
<v Speaker 2>just almost like loathes his performances, so which is quite incredible.
<v Speaker 1>Wild because out of a lot of the movies, like
<v Speaker 1>Hankazaria comes up a lot because he has put in
<v Speaker 1>a lot with you know, in terms of doing projects
<v Speaker 1>outside of the Simpsons and Friends.
<v Speaker 2>Was a big one. Yeah, that's right.
<v Speaker 1>And yeah, also recently on starring Springfield, we watched Night
<v Speaker 1>of the Museum Too, Night Out the Museum Too rather
<v Speaker 1>where he's playing the Egyptian guy, a guy that's come
<v Speaker 1>back from the past.
<v Speaker 2>Great films two great films man.
<v Speaker 1>He's just eating a big old Ham sandwich in that movie,
<v Speaker 1>and it's a delight to see. It's weird to hear
<v Speaker 1>that he has any lack of confidence, because that role
<v Speaker 1>and that character is all confidence.
<v Speaker 2>He's so good in it. Well, he essentially said to
<v Speaker 2>us that he after every film he's finished, he always
<v Speaker 2>comes out of it thinking he's ruined it for everybody else.
<v Speaker 2>He can't watch his performances. I don't know whether it
<v Speaker 2>was us looking for us to go, nah, you're great, hand,
<v Speaker 2>you're the bed. But but Hank was absolutely delight to

<v Speaker 2>But I'm still in somewhat vacation mode because I think
<v Speaker 2>once the kids go back to school, I'll feel like
<v Speaker 2>I'm properly back at work again, because when the kids
<v Speaker 2>always here, it's just it's hard to get anything done.

<v Speaker 2>The best and worst of the vacation episodes focus more
<v Speaker 2>so on the best ones essentially what I said, pull
<v Speaker 2>the curtain back a bit. I said to Elliott, you
<v Speaker 2>sent me a list of ones you want to talk about,
<v Speaker 2>and I'll add all subtract and the list you sent
<v Speaker 2>through is pretty much spot on. Now, what defines a
<v Speaker 2>vacation episode. I was originally thinking maybe it's just whenever
<v Speaker 2>they leave Springfield, and in that note, you could talk
<v Speaker 2>about Lemon of Troy, you could talk about dance and home,
<v Speaker 2>you can talk about anything when they're leaving Springfield. But
<v Speaker 2>I think that's not a vacation episode. Of vacation episodes
<v Speaker 2>when they're genuinely going on a holiday to get away
<v Speaker 2>from Springfield, not for work or anything like that. So
<v Speaker 2>that takes those ones out of it. But the list
<v Speaker 2>you've sent through is pretty spot on. I'm just reading
<v Speaker 2>through here again. There's some new ones here, some new
<v Speaker 2>episodes that I haven't seen before. And the reason I
<v Speaker 2>haven't sent it because what I do is with the
<v Speaker 2>of the season twenty now with the podcast, I don't
<v Speaker 2>want to get too far ahead. I like to try
<v Speaker 2>and stay in the season twenty vibe that mode. So
<v Speaker 2>we're reviewing each episode as if it's essentially watching it
<v Speaker 2>as an ad on TV. Does that make any sense?
<v Speaker 2>You know what I mean?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, our thing on the Simpsons Index, you know, we
<v Speaker 1>were comparing three episodes at a time, one from each decade.
<v Speaker 1>We were taking a kind of random watch approach, and
<v Speaker 1>that has its benefits and its drawbacks. But yeah, for
<v Speaker 1>you to do it chronologically, I understand not wanting to
<v Speaker 1>read ahead and get ahead of the class, so to speak,
<v Speaker 1>because you know, it keeps you in that one mode.
<v Speaker 1>The way we do it, it means we kind of
<v Speaker 1>forget about eras and the moods of the time of
<v Speaker 1>the thing that we're in.
<v Speaker 2>I have found that the closer we get to the
<v Speaker 2>later episodes through in season twenty now, the more we
<v Speaker 2>find our soundes. Going do do a classic one this week? Well?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, that was the benefit of doing three at a
<v Speaker 1>time and going a twenties, teens and then a classic era,
<v Speaker 1>because we'd always get like the recalibration of a classic era,
<v Speaker 1>because say what you bill about the new era, but
<v Speaker 1>it's certainly different to classic Simpsons. So just being able
<v Speaker 1>to go back and go, oh, okay, this is what
<v Speaker 1>the show was when it was at its most popular
<v Speaker 1>and firing on all cylinders and things and yeah, at
<v Speaker 1>the moment when we've only got new ones to review, Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I have to just go back in my own time
<v Speaker 1>and you know, Chuck on a classic one, just to
<v Speaker 1>recenter myself.
<v Speaker 2>I just find the reason I didn't want to sort
<v Speaker 2>of compare ones, because I find once you start comparing eras,
<v Speaker 2>that's when you start really nitpicking things. And I found
<v Speaker 2>with doing it the way we do it nothing against
<v Speaker 2>the way you've done it. Obviously, it's been a huge
<v Speaker 2>success the way we're doing it. Just say, season nineteen,
<v Speaker 2>we just finished it. I don't think season nineteen our
<v Speaker 2>reviews were anywhere near as negative as they probably would
<v Speaker 2>have been had we been comparing it at the same
<v Speaker 2>time with a golden ear one, because I like to
<v Speaker 2>try and, as I said, review these episodes as if
<v Speaker 2>we are watching it in real time when the show
<v Speaker 2>originally aired. What was the mindset of a Simpsons fan
<v Speaker 2>when season nineteen was on, and watching those ones back
<v Speaker 2>to back to back, they don't seem as bad. I
<v Speaker 2>guess they sort of just deflate and bring down your
<v Speaker 2>expectations to the point where you go, ah, it's fine,
<v Speaker 2>you know, yeah, so, but yeah, I actually quite enjoyed
<v Speaker 2>season nineteen. I thought there's probably maybe two or three
<v Speaker 2>episodes that just were any good. However, the last episode
<v Speaker 2>I believe we reviewed on the feed here a flashback
<v Speaker 2>one with Homer and Marge where they nearly cheated on
<v Speaker 2>each other. Oh, the Dangerous Curves. Dangerous Curves. That is
<v Speaker 2>the worst episode of the Simpsons. We have reviewed it
<v Speaker 2>to date.
<v Speaker 1>It is horrific, even we didn't give it full fail marks.
<v Speaker 1>But yeah, I'll listen to that podcast of yours and
<v Speaker 1>I'm like, yeah, I remember that one that wasn't good.
<v Speaker 2>It's just it infuriated me. I don't get angry very
<v Speaker 2>often at the Simpsons, but that one just so.
<v Speaker 1>I guess that's kind of a vacation episode, isn't it is?
<v Speaker 1>Its three at once because they're going to that holiday house.
<v Speaker 2>True. Yeah, that can go on the worst list. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>let's talk about some of the best. Now. The first
<v Speaker 2>one you got on the list here is one of
<v Speaker 2>the earliest episodes of the Simpsons. I think it's episode
<v Speaker 2>seven or six, I want to say the show. I
<v Speaker 2>think it's somewhere close to there. It's the Call of
<v Speaker 2>the Simpsons. Now, this is one, dare I say one
<v Speaker 2>of the more iconic episodes, specifically because they always shared
<v Speaker 2>the clip of Homer and Bart with the rabbit trap
<v Speaker 2>in all the Kip shows, So I think people remember
<v Speaker 2>it for that. But the Call of the Simpsons, What
<v Speaker 2>made you put that on the list for best vacation episodes?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, Look, there's certainly in the years been a bit
<v Speaker 1>of mixed opinions on season one. A lot of people
<v Speaker 1>will talk about what the classic era of the show
<v Speaker 1>truly is, what seasons are the classics, and one I
<v Speaker 1>think unfairly gets left out of the conversation a lot
<v Speaker 1>of the time. And it's episodes like this that have
<v Speaker 1>this incredible ambition for what this show could be. And
<v Speaker 1>I think they're really going out on a limb in
<v Speaker 1>this one, you know, a tree limb. They're trying to
<v Speaker 1>catch a rabbit, so to speak, and they're really trying
<v Speaker 1>hard with a show that's very new, very untested, and
<v Speaker 1>could possibly just get canceled after one season. I think
<v Speaker 1>it's quite a bold move to put the Simpson family
<v Speaker 1>in this situation in the first place. And yeah, of
<v Speaker 1>course some season one stuff it looks a little goofy
<v Speaker 1>in hindsight, and there's some more flat moments but the
<v Speaker 1>whole thing of Homer getting mistaken.
<v Speaker 2>Is Bigfoot will always amuse me.
<v Speaker 1>And I think the progression of that and Maggie and
<v Speaker 1>the Bears, I think this story has got a lot
<v Speaker 1>of that early subversion of the Simpsons that works very well.
<v Speaker 1>And yeah, it is kind of a subversion of the
<v Speaker 1>whole family getting an RV and taking a vacation because
<v Speaker 1>it's just it's not going right from the start, is it.
<v Speaker 2>Dad thinks he knows what's going on, but he has
<v Speaker 2>no idea.
<v Speaker 1>Oh, the experienced Woodsman very relatable.
<v Speaker 2>I think this episode for me, if I went back
<v Speaker 2>and rewatch it now, would be a lot more relatable
<v Speaker 2>as someone who has two small kids, because I am
<v Speaker 2>now Homer, I'm not going Dad, you don't know what
<v Speaker 2>you're doing. Remember memories of my dad. My dad wasn't
<v Speaker 2>experienced woosman, so he always knew it was going on.
<v Speaker 2>You just you said, my dad, into the outback and
<v Speaker 2>you'll find a way to five, you know what I mean.
<v Speaker 2>He's just one of those people. I kin'd even put
<v Speaker 2>an nail into a wall. So I like to think
<v Speaker 2>that if I bought an RV, this would be me.
<v Speaker 2>I go yep, let's go camping, kids, and I'd get lost.
<v Speaker 2>I would know what I'm doing, but throughout the episode
<v Speaker 2>I'd like to try and sort of threat being lost,
<v Speaker 2>portray that I don't worry, I know what I'm doing.
<v Speaker 2>But clearly is a Homer saying I've murdered us all
<v Speaker 2>is somebody says I've murdered us all Yeah, that's it. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>that's right. I remember this episode more so. I think
<v Speaker 2>it's one of the more cartoony episodes of the first season,
<v Speaker 2>not visually, just from a story perspective, and I think
<v Speaker 2>maybe that's why it felt like it was one of
<v Speaker 2>the more merchandised episodes of the early era. I remember
<v Speaker 2>you had Hungry Jack's figures. Yeah, there was a range
<v Speaker 2>of cups you could get of the Call of the Simpsons.
<v Speaker 2>It was almost like everyone remembered the one where they
<v Speaker 2>went camping. It seemed to stand out because maybe because
<v Speaker 2>it wasn't in Springfield one where they went camping. I
<v Speaker 2>think it's a different visual, so they're a on their
<v Speaker 2>camping gear. It's fun to look at that kind of
<v Speaker 2>thing as well. So I think from a story perspective,
<v Speaker 2>you brought up the fact that Homer gets confused as Bigfoot.
<v Speaker 2>I remember when I reviewed it, I liked the fact
<v Speaker 2>that he was confused as Bigfoot in the first place.
<v Speaker 2>I thought it was a bit wacky that, Okay, we've
<v Speaker 2>taken him to a lab and they still kind of
<v Speaker 2>establish it this as a man. You know, it's like
<v Speaker 2>these these profession these professional scientists going, I think it
<v Speaker 2>is a man. It's like it's just a guy covered
<v Speaker 2>in mud. It's a human being. We can just do
<v Speaker 2>a DNA test. People. That is silly, But that is
<v Speaker 2>just very Season one Simpsons. Like you said, it's a
<v Speaker 2>show that hadn't quite figured out what it wanted to
<v Speaker 2>be yet. Are we a wacky cartoon? Are we set
<v Speaker 2>in reality? And this one really blurred the lines between
<v Speaker 2>them both, but it did it in a way that
<v Speaker 2>was still fun. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>The subversion with Marge and Lisa being quite competent taking
<v Speaker 1>care of themselves in the woods.
<v Speaker 2>As well, it's a good point too, particularly early nineties,
<v Speaker 2>just you know, it's the woman and the daughter who
<v Speaker 2>know what they're doing. You know, that's very dare I
<v Speaker 2>say progressive? And that was that it came out in
<v Speaker 2>nineteen ninety Yeah, and you.
<v Speaker 1>Know, with the whole media storm. It's a very silly premise,
<v Speaker 1>but I think it just does this commentary on media
<v Speaker 1>spin as well. So yeah, it uses a very idea
<v Speaker 1>to you know, make jokes about something that's very real
<v Speaker 1>in our society.
<v Speaker 2>That you still tracks today.
<v Speaker 1>So yeah, there is a timeless quality to this episodisode
<v Speaker 1>that even a lot of season one episodes don't date
<v Speaker 1>as well, you know, on my not as good list
<v Speaker 1>of the vacant well it's not really a vacation episode
<v Speaker 1>but Grapes of Wrath where Bart goes to France.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, that's not one. I love returning to a good ending,
<v Speaker 2>though I really liked the end.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, no, it's a fun end and an unexpected thing,
<v Speaker 1>but yeah, the journey to get there are part's just
<v Speaker 1>so miserable.
<v Speaker 2>The whole it is so cruel. Yeah, well that's one
<v Speaker 2>of the more iconic reviews we did back in the
<v Speaker 2>early days when it first started, because we couldn't wake
<v Speaker 2>out the frog aspect, like what we are they saying
<v Speaker 2>frogs for? And then we had all these barrage people
<v Speaker 2>saying because they're French, you fool, and I was like, oh, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>you can't go back and edit that out now.
<v Speaker 1>Oh now.
<v Speaker 2>It's on the internet forever. Yes, it is. Indeed, yes,
<v Speaker 2>back in twenty fifteen when that first came out. We're
<v Speaker 2>closing them our tenth anniversary here four years ago. Well done.
<v Speaker 2>Ten years and we've only missed I Reckon two or
<v Speaker 2>three weeks. Every week for ten years, there's been an
<v Speaker 2>episode getting out there. It's pretty cool, good stuff.
<v Speaker 1>I've missed a whole lot more than that I want.
<v Speaker 2>To talk about. I'm skipping down your list. I'm not
<v Speaker 2>going to do this in particular order. But it's one
<v Speaker 2>that I have always loved, and I think I love
<v Speaker 2>it more of the older I get, because again, as
<v Speaker 2>we said, I now washed the Simpsons through the eyes
<v Speaker 2>of Homer as a poster bart. Yeah, but I love
<v Speaker 2>this one as a kid, and I have memories of
<v Speaker 2>it because it was one of the ones. You know,
<v Speaker 2>one used to record The Simpsons off Channel ten here
<v Speaker 2>in Australia we record off TV anyway. You're listening around
<v Speaker 2>the world BBC in or this ITV whoever it wasn't
<v Speaker 2>in the in the UK and Fox in the States.
<v Speaker 2>You recorded your favorite episodes. You cut the ad zeh
<v Speaker 2>bla blah blah and you had your tape that was
<v Speaker 2>always your favorite one of those, So this one has
<v Speaker 2>more of my favorite episodes than others, So you always
<v Speaker 2>had to put that one on. And I remember there
<v Speaker 2>was a tape that I had that had bart on
<v Speaker 2>the Road right near the very beginning, and I just
<v Speaker 2>always have fond memories I reckon. I watched this one
<v Speaker 2>so many more times than others because I put the
<v Speaker 2>Simpsons on before bed and just had the Simpsons casually
<v Speaker 2>on in playing in my ears as I slept. Essentially
<v Speaker 2>just had had the tape playing. And I remember because
<v Speaker 2>bart in the Road was near the beginning of the tape,
<v Speaker 2>it was always one that I would still be awake
<v Speaker 2>when it was on. So bart On the Road was
<v Speaker 2>always one of my favorite episodes as a kid. I
<v Speaker 2>always thought it was a lot of fun. It's not
<v Speaker 2>necessarily a vacation, but I guess it's a vacation. It's
<v Speaker 2>more of just a road trip. It's a road trip,
<v Speaker 2>isn't it. I guess you can cause a vacation, but
<v Speaker 2>I think it's.
<v Speaker 1>To be a couple of things because it's a spring
<v Speaker 1>break episode and it's very core, and you know, you
<v Speaker 1>get to see the two stories of the two kids,
<v Speaker 1>how they get to spend their spring breaks, and it's
<v Speaker 1>back to this. You know, Simpsons is a poorer family.
<v Speaker 1>You know, this is what they could afford to do
<v Speaker 1>with Lisa and yeah with but getting on the road
<v Speaker 1>and the road trip. Yeah, very wacky and wouldn't that
<v Speaker 1>be expensive? But they justified in story. They get Martin
<v Speaker 1>Prince involved into their little gang there, and it's got
<v Speaker 1>this other thing with the groups of kids where Nelson
<v Speaker 1>is their friend in summer. And I've heard them talk
<v Speaker 1>about this on commentaries. You know, fans will go, oh,
<v Speaker 1>why is Nelson hanging out with Button Millhouse?
<v Speaker 2>That makes no sense.
<v Speaker 1>It's like, yeah, because in school time he has to
<v Speaker 1>be the bully and present this front. But in summer
<v Speaker 1>time everyone might be off doing their own thing, and
<v Speaker 1>who's got no one else to hang out.
<v Speaker 2>We've got no friends? Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly because the
<v Speaker 2>bullies are all older than Nelson, aren't they.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, they're assumingly in sixth or seventh grade or something,
<v Speaker 1>but also might be in their thirties.
<v Speaker 2>Like, yeah, that's true, Kelney. In the earlier seasons, though
<v Speaker 2>it was the Three Bullies, Nelson wasn't part of the

<v Speaker 2>They can orders hang out together. Yeah, that's it.
<v Speaker 1>With Nelson hanging out with this group, that just makes
<v Speaker 1>such a great dynamic forsome that, yeah, makes this road
<v Speaker 1>trip all the more compelling. And then you know, with
<v Speaker 1>Lisa trying to have a vacation at her dad's work
<v Speaker 1>and Homer and her make their own fun by the end,
<v Speaker 1>and I love that.
<v Speaker 2>It's so good that story, isn't it. This is the
<v Speaker 2>verse of Homer that you just don't get in the
<v Speaker 2>teen episodes of the show, where it's just daddy daughter
<v Speaker 2>time and he's just he feels so real. It's just
<v Speaker 2>so what can we do? We can just wear these
<v Speaker 2>suits and roll around the chairs like that's what that's real,
<v Speaker 2>that's what you would do.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, exactly, And I'm sure you know you having kids
<v Speaker 1>know this more than anyone. It's just having solo time
<v Speaker 1>with each individual kid is so important to develop your
<v Speaker 1>own rapport and own back and forth and interest and
<v Speaker 1>things that you know are just for you, guys. And
<v Speaker 1>seeing this develop with Homer and Lisa, who have had
<v Speaker 1>such a strange relationship over the years, that's a good point,
<v Speaker 1>and that it comes to a heartwarming point where Homer
<v Speaker 1>has listened, he has learned things.
<v Speaker 2>About her older My god, how good is that bit.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, Pat's a little head, and yeah, she confides in
<v Speaker 1>him when she needs to help Bart and it just
<v Speaker 1>makes up such this interesting dynamic. And then yeah, when
<v Speaker 1>they're sitting around the table digesting at the end, it's
<v Speaker 1>just it sells that moment so hard, especially with margin
<v Speaker 1>on the wise of just looking on with that spiel.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, and but not realizing that home is aware as well. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>so good.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, it's real fastical stuff. I love when Simpsons do
<v Speaker 1>that kind of Right.

<v Speaker 1>continent by now, when's Antarctica happening?
<v Speaker 2>Didn't they go there for? They went to Alaska for
<v Speaker 2>the movie. That's right, Yes, yes.
<v Speaker 1>And so it takes a roundabout way of getting there.
<v Speaker 1>So it's basically Butt's feeling really unsatisfied with live, feeling
<v Speaker 1>like nothing's going anywhere, there's nothing to look forward to.

<v Speaker 2>it was the most horrific experience of my life. I
<v Speaker 2>always tell the story of we were going I believe
<v Speaker 2>it was Tasmania. So we're going around to Wineglass Bay.
<v Speaker 2>I think that's Tasmania, right, one Glass Bay. Anyway, I'm
<v Speaker 2>not sure. It's called wine Glass Bay because they used
<v Speaker 2>to murder whales there and the it's shaped like a
<v Speaker 2>wine glass and it would fill up red with blood
<v Speaker 2>and it's Wineglass Bay. Horrific story anyway, so they were yeah,
<v Speaker 2>so we went, we're going near it's like a tourist location,
<v Speaker 2>not because of that, but because it's a nice beach
<v Speaker 2>and whatnot. And then still murdered whales there that was
<v Speaker 2>a long time ago, or dolphins whatever it was. And
<v Speaker 2>the boat it was so chopping in the water. And
<v Speaker 2>I'm no good with motion. I get motion sickness. You know,
<v Speaker 2>I can't I have to be facing forward on a train.
<v Speaker 2>I can't even do that. I can't read things in
<v Speaker 2>a car. I'm just I get motion sickness. And this
<v Speaker 2>was the choppiest thing ever. Remember at one point he
<v Speaker 2>goes all right, ladies and gentlemen, I think advice. We
<v Speaker 2>sit down, and if we had seat belts, I tead
<v Speaker 2>to put them on. I was like, oh shit, oh god.
<v Speaker 2>And I remember looking at the front and the boat
<v Speaker 2>went up for a bit, stayed there for a while
<v Speaker 2>and came down and I was just down the back
<v Speaker 2>with Nicholas's dad, Keith they gas. They were handing out
<v Speaker 2>these paper bags and it would have been I know,
<v Speaker 2>twenty of us in the back just vomiting straight for
<v Speaker 2>like half an hour. So that's my experience of being
<v Speaker 2>on a boat. So I've been told cruises are much
<v Speaker 2>better than that. And my parents recently went on the
<v Speaker 2>cruise and they loved it, and the kids want to
<v Speaker 2>go on a cruise now. So we've been looking at
<v Speaker 2>Disney cruises. I have not dared look at the prices
<v Speaker 2>of a Disney cruise yet, but they do look fun. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Well that was the one recent cruise I did. I
<v Speaker 1>did the Disney cruise at the end of twenty twenty three.
<v Speaker 1>It was so much fun. All the food was paid for,
<v Speaker 1>so that was okay. But then drinks were extra, and
<v Speaker 1>they knew they were we were Australians, so I think
<v Speaker 1>they chucked up the price a bit, like.
<v Speaker 2>Cause you're not buy it, because I think my parents
<v Speaker 2>bought an extra thing where you get like ten free
<v Speaker 2>drinks a day if you pay the extra bitter whatever.
<v Speaker 1>Oh is that right? Mostly my brother organized that. Why
<v Speaker 1>I wasn't sure. Anyway, you had a good time, you
<v Speaker 1>got to hang out with Spider Man. Yeah, you got
<v Speaker 1>to autograph. Yeah, it was wonderful. You know, they you know,
<v Speaker 1>equal stuff for adults and kids to do as well.
<v Speaker 1>I was always worried with doing a cruise, especially at
<v Speaker 1>Disney Cruise. Is there any gonna be anything for me.
<v Speaker 2>To do there?
<v Speaker 1>But there was so much and like they're running trivia
<v Speaker 1>all the time, and that was a whole lot of
<v Speaker 1>fun and like yeah, games of late night parties and
<v Speaker 1>stuff for adults, and heaps of bars and tequila and
<v Speaker 1>cognac tastings and yeah, we really blackjack.
<v Speaker 2>That's on the Bender boat. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>But yeah, So they go on this cruise and they're
<v Speaker 1>having that much fun as well. But the cruise has
<v Speaker 1>to come to an end, and so but decides to
<v Speaker 1>make the holiday go even longer. So this might be
<v Speaker 1>an episode that people are not still not ready to
<v Speaker 1>watch as well, because part of the early parts of
<v Speaker 1>the pandemic was cruise ships were super spreader events.
<v Speaker 2>And all that moved on from that pandemic never happened.
<v Speaker 2>We're in the post COVID world now. Apologies to everybody
<v Speaker 2>who was genuinely affected by the pandemic. That was a joke.
<v Speaker 2>I am well aware the pandemic happened, and I'm aware
<v Speaker 2>it's horrific, and I'm glad that we have somehow able
<v Speaker 2>to move forward slightly.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, that was a rough couple of years there though,
<v Speaker 1>But yeah, so I understand why this episode people might
<v Speaker 1>not be ready for it, because, yeah, the premise then
<v Speaker 1>is Bar gets this DVD of a B grade movie
<v Speaker 1>that whether the pandemic breaks out, and he feeds it
<v Speaker 1>into the main monitor speaker system of the cruise ship.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah it's this actor, but he's selling it as this
<v Speaker 1>army general is warning the cruise ship did not come
<v Speaker 1>to land because a pandemic is broken up.
<v Speaker 2>It's War of the worlds. Yeah, oh yeah, there we go.
<v Speaker 2>That wasn't a boat that was just awesome. Wells on
<v Speaker 2>the radio saying there's aliens coming. Yeah, that's it.
<v Speaker 1>And yeah, then Bart pause chocolate fudge or something on
<v Speaker 1>the control deck to then jam the systems as well,
<v Speaker 1>so they can't communicate back with land. So yeah, then
<v Speaker 1>the cruise keeps going long, but you know, they're running
<v Speaker 1>out of food, the boat's getting gross, and you know,
<v Speaker 1>the pool's disgusting now, but still having the time of
<v Speaker 1>his life.
<v Speaker 2>No one else is.
<v Speaker 1>But they eventually find out it was Bart's fault, and
<v Speaker 1>then they kick the family out at the nearest country,
<v Speaker 1>which it turns out to be Antarctica.
<v Speaker 2>Oh so that's just the setup premise. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, The Simpsons go to Antarctica comprises of about a
<v Speaker 1>minute of the last part of the episode.
<v Speaker 2>Oh so that I actually go to Antartica to the
<v Speaker 2>very end, Yeah, ah, okay, but it's just so they
<v Speaker 2>can get out of the way saying we have been
<v Speaker 2>to Antartica.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, but I think that's part of the response of
<v Speaker 1>this is why they haven't done a Simpsons go to
<v Speaker 1>Antarctic because there's not much there.
<v Speaker 2>Didn't every one say the Simpsons are going to Antartica
<v Speaker 2>next year? Is Antartigo or he says that maybe Delaware
<v Speaker 2>or what.
<v Speaker 1>I feel like they've done that joke as well, and
<v Speaker 1>I still feel like Delaware is the funniest possible geography
<v Speaker 1>place name you could possibly pick.
<v Speaker 2>For this is where comes into to play.
<v Speaker 1>I know, I was just talking with a friend the
<v Speaker 1>other day, how annoying it is. We don't have Frinkiak
<v Speaker 1>for more shows.
<v Speaker 2>By the way, he's blaming on Lisa. Season thirteen been
<v Speaker 2>everywhere except Antarctica. The Simpsons are going to Antarctica next
<v Speaker 2>year was actually ten years later.
<v Speaker 1>Oh blame it on the Lisa. Okay, that one would
<v Speaker 1>have made it onto my not so great list.
<v Speaker 2>That's the Brazil one, right. Yeah, I've never really minded that,
<v Speaker 2>but you know what that is. I think it's just
<v Speaker 2>a nostalgia things I remember watching when it was on,
<v Speaker 2>and I was still a fan that Simpsons at that
<v Speaker 2>point in time. But I going back and revisiting it,
<v Speaker 2>it's a bit wacky, but I remember not minding Homer
<v Speaker 2>with the people holding him hostage.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, the Stockholm syndrome of it is very very funny,
<v Speaker 1>and in fact that book and saves the cigarette that
<v Speaker 1>he got burned with.
<v Speaker 2>That's all very endearing and stuff. And it's just the
<v Speaker 2>little boy and there's the woman with the tassels and whatnot. Yeah. Yeah, anyway,
<v Speaker 2>so that the episode sounds good. So that episode from
<v Speaker 2>season twenty three, episode nineteen, it is a totally fun
<v Speaker 2>thing that but will never do again. I'm going to
<v Speaker 2>check it out when we get to it. Let's go
<v Speaker 2>to a more classic one. I was gonna put this
<v Speaker 2>on my list as well. I wasn't sure, but this
<v Speaker 2>was a vacation one or not. I guess it is
<v Speaker 2>because they said we're going there. It's the city of
<v Speaker 2>New York versus Homer Simpson. Yeah. This is one of
<v Speaker 2>those ones that I think everyone thinks came a lot
<v Speaker 2>earlier in the show's run than what it actually did.
<v Speaker 2>It was the premiere of season nine, and people always
<v Speaker 2>season one to nine is the best one. But I
<v Speaker 2>just feel like this episode here just feels mid gold
<v Speaker 2>near it. It just feels like a season seven ish kind
<v Speaker 2>of episode, don't you think. But just the overall story
<v Speaker 2>is just I still to this day quote Homer going
<v Speaker 2>almost I love that visual. Obviously, it's the episode that
<v Speaker 2>still has the World Trade Centers in it. So I
<v Speaker 2>don't know whether they actually replay this episode anymore, and
<v Speaker 2>if there was a while where they weren't airing this
<v Speaker 2>one and reruns. Reruns still a thing Australia for the
<v Speaker 2>Simpsons anyway, they're only on Disney. Plus, it's got that
<v Speaker 2>innocence to it where the World Trade Centers are still there.
<v Speaker 2>It's kind of like when I watch Home Alone Too
<v Speaker 2>and he goes to the top of the World Trade
<v Speaker 2>Center and I go, oh, yeah, we can't forget that
<v Speaker 2>they existed. I prefer to still include this stuff, and
<v Speaker 2>it's thought that they should be rerunning these episodes with
<v Speaker 2>the World Trade Centers. Don't try and edit them out,
<v Speaker 2>because that's doing a disservice to the people who worked there,
<v Speaker 2>the people who passed away in the tragic events. Remind
<v Speaker 2>people these things were here. They're not here anymore, but
<v Speaker 2>they were part of our history. So I always have
<v Speaker 2>that little ah whenever I see home at the World
<v Speaker 2>Trade Centers as well.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, the whole cigarettes in movies thing where we want
<v Speaker 1>to move past it and having them so prominent, but
<v Speaker 1>also we don't want to go back and erase it
<v Speaker 1>from the old movies because there's some like iconic moments
<v Speaker 1>and you know, certainly with New York as well, it's
<v Speaker 1>part of the never forget, you know, keep it in
<v Speaker 1>the skyline and it doesn't it lead to some unfortunate
<v Speaker 1>things like Yeah, in this episode, when Bart's holding up
<v Speaker 1>the bust voucher thing and it says nine dollars and
<v Speaker 1>it has the World Trade Center right next to it,
<v Speaker 1>and a.
<v Speaker 2>Lot of the odds.
<v Speaker 1>What are the well, I mean, they predict everything. So
<v Speaker 1>they had their crystal ball out when they were reviewing
<v Speaker 1>of writing that one.
<v Speaker 2>That's on of those ones where you look at it
<v Speaker 2>and go a shit.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, but you know, also on the Starring Springfield, we
<v Speaker 1>reviewed the nineteen ninety three Super Mario Brothers.
<v Speaker 2>Movie which Luigi Luigi.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, which this one stretches our definition of starring on
<v Speaker 1>Starring Springfield because Dan Castell get Dan Castellnetta does the
<v Speaker 1>opening narration of that movie and that's it. That's how
<v Speaker 1>Simpson's guy for that movie.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>But in the climax of that movie, part of it
<v Speaker 1>is King Cooper destroying or phasing out the World Trade
<v Speaker 1>Center to another dimension or something like that. Yeah, part
<v Speaker 1>of these things that change in hindsight.
<v Speaker 2>Now I have the Super Mario three Deluxe box set
<v Speaker 2>from our friends at four fig discount from um brother Entertainment.
<v Speaker 2>They really just kick ass, like brick of a box
<v Speaker 2>set for the Super Mario's ninety three film Awesome.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, that was a fun review. That is such a
<v Speaker 1>wild and weird movie and like no wonder Nintendo got
<v Speaker 1>turned off from working with movie studios for many years after.
<v Speaker 2>Let's go to Itchy and Scratchy Land cat' mouse right,
<v Speaker 2>So this is always in the list of most iconic
<v Speaker 2>Simpsons episodes of all time. It's just there are so
<v Speaker 2>many jokes in this episode. It's hard to sort of
<v Speaker 2>keep up, isn't it. It feels like it almost feels like
<v Speaker 2>a Conan O'Brien episode, don't you think, Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>This is a John swartzworld.
<v Speaker 2>It definitely feels like a Swartzwater O'Brien. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, again, just talking about subverting the tropes. And the
<v Speaker 1>family goes to a vacation theme park or whatever. And
<v Speaker 1>I feel like, especially when you look at like Sitcom's
<v Speaker 1>like Modern Family, for instance, when they go to Disneyland.
<v Speaker 1>I love the show, but that one is just so
<v Speaker 1>obviously a paid tie in sponsorship where they can't have
<v Speaker 1>fun at the theme park's expense. And you know, because
<v Speaker 1>this one, you know, they're not trying to please anyone.
<v Speaker 1>There's no real Lichy and Scratchy Land, and they can
<v Speaker 1>have all these jokes which comment on the theme park
<v Speaker 1>experience and and yeah, have this subversive thing of the
<v Speaker 1>Sitcom family not having a great time and it turns
<v Speaker 1>into a bloody West World reference.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, it's oh good, But there's there's so many iconic
<v Speaker 2>quotes from this one. So yeah, the one that I
<v Speaker 2>still again another quote that I used every time I
<v Speaker 2>park my car. Remember we're in the ITCHI lot. Do
<v Speaker 2>you say it as well? I say nearly every time. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I remember I put this episode on for the kids,
<v Speaker 2>and I kind of regret it because it's very very
<v Speaker 2>violent towards the end with the blood and whatnot. But
<v Speaker 2>I always said when the women leave the car, and
<v Speaker 2>when the kids watched that went, ah, that's what you say.
<v Speaker 2>I was like, yeah, but remember it, like we've got
<v Speaker 2>that possible yep, possibly go wrong? And what was the

<v Speaker 1>Wit like that I could be an action hero, Yes,

<v Speaker 2>be too scared to ask, thinking, oh, I'm gonna be
<v Speaker 2>that person. They're gonna make fun of me. They think think, oh, yeah,

<v Speaker 2>say it yeah and yeah.
<v Speaker 1>For so many people, like they've got to be pissed
<v Speaker 1>finding that out after because they're like, oh, yeah, of
<v Speaker 1>course that one sold out fair enough, because I've got one.

<v Speaker 2>The problem is I got a it wasn't a license plate.
<v Speaker 2>It was a key chain. Oh yeah, and it was
<v Speaker 2>It's like Barton Krustock riding the ride, the Simpsons ride.
<v Speaker 2>So I've got a bought key chain and a bought
<v Speaker 2>license plate. So I'm kind of disappointed about that. I
<v Speaker 2>did hear that they're going to be removing the Simpsons World.
<v Speaker 1>Interesting, Well, well, it's a Disney property now.
<v Speaker 2>So yeah, maybe the light the contract's finished, I'm not
<v Speaker 2>too sure. But because Universal has just expanded huge, open
<v Speaker 2>up a whole new park in Florida. It opens up
<v Speaker 2>this year. Actually yeah, it's University. Got a Universal Monsters
<v Speaker 2>area now is how training drag a? Nintendo World's opening up,
<v Speaker 2>So yeah, it's going to be just expanding. I guess
<v Speaker 2>the Simpsons ride's making way, which is sad because there
<v Speaker 2>needs to be a springfield somewhere. But I guess I

<v Speaker 1>Now, Yeah, you'd hope, so maybe controversial opinion. I don't
<v Speaker 1>like the Simpsons ride.

<v Speaker 1>Don't know, just one of these three D ride experiences
<v Speaker 1>that's always the same thing. Oh we're on the ride up,
<v Speaker 1>things are going wrong and then it's just a bombardment
<v Speaker 1>of Simpson's references and I'm just in this thing that's
<v Speaker 1>shaking and I'm like, I want to get up.
<v Speaker 2>Well, we went through a phase about ten to fifteen
<v Speaker 2>years ago where everything is like, oh my god, it's
<v Speaker 2>like a virtual reality ride. I hate them, As I said,
<v Speaker 2>I get motion sick, so I despise those rides right,
<v Speaker 2>And I remember when I went on there, the girl
<v Speaker 2>at the line said, does anyone get motion sickness, and
<v Speaker 2>I said, yes, she goes, make sure you sit up
<v Speaker 2>the front. I was like, okay, So I did. And
<v Speaker 2>I really enjoyed the ride, you know, because it's one
<v Speaker 2>of those ones where it's like you in like a
<v Speaker 2>sphere almost, and it's sort of all the way around,
<v Speaker 2>like a full one a eighty kind of yeah, and
<v Speaker 2>just felt very immersive. The next time I went on it,
<v Speaker 2>I got put at the back and I was like, oh,
<v Speaker 2>I'll be fine now. The reason they say that because
<v Speaker 2>when you're on the back row, the way the ride
<v Speaker 2>is built, it's like a roller coaster ride. To get
<v Speaker 2>the walls on the side, you can't see the whole thing.
<v Speaker 2>You can't see the sides, so when things are suddenly
<v Speaker 2>banging into you and you can't see it coming you,
<v Speaker 2>all of a sudden, you just jerking into the left

<v Speaker 2>of have to do that. I get why they did it,

<v Speaker 2>of those rides coming out, but I think we need
<v Speaker 2>to sort of just get back to Can we not
<v Speaker 2>just get on a ride and be taken for a
<v Speaker 2>few thrills and just get off the ride. We don't
<v Speaker 2>have to sort of sit in this watch this screen.
<v Speaker 2>I want to get away. Look, we spend so much
<v Speaker 2>of our lives in front of a screen. I want
<v Speaker 2>to go to a thing butuck and get away from
<v Speaker 2>the screens. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Well, I think Simpson's World. I think the Simpson's Ride
<v Speaker 1>for me was at least the least interesting part. It's
<v Speaker 1>just it was so cool, like how they built out
<v Speaker 1>Springfield and all the different restaurants with all the catered
<v Speaker 1>food to the characters and all that.
<v Speaker 2>But did you go to Hollywood or did you go
<v Speaker 2>to Orlando? I've been to both.
<v Speaker 1>I've definitely been to Florida. I might have been to California,
<v Speaker 1>I can't remember.
<v Speaker 2>Florida doesn't have the strip like Hollywood does. Hollywood has
<v Speaker 2>like you're walking down the Aztec Theater. It's got everything.
<v Speaker 2>It's it's like you're walking down the streets of Springfield
<v Speaker 2>where Flora doesn't have that. It's just got various sort
<v Speaker 2>of it's got the Quickie Mart, and it's got most tavern.
<v Speaker 2>But in Hollywood, it actually feels like you're walking through
<v Speaker 2>a street of Springfield. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>I can't quite remember, because yeah, those holidays pretty close together,
<v Speaker 1>and they kind of elements of Florida and California kind
<v Speaker 1>of blur in my memory now. But yeah, still a
<v Speaker 1>hot vacation spot. It seems like a timed experience now,
<v Speaker 1>so if you can get to it, yeah, definitely get
<v Speaker 1>to a Simpson's World or yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, but Itching scratchy Land great, just because, as you said,
<v Speaker 2>they were able to take the Mickey out of It's
<v Speaker 2>taken me out of Disneyland. You know. That's that's what
<v Speaker 2>they're targetting here, because they even have euro Itching scratchy Land,
<v Speaker 2>which is Disneyland Paris, which is We got there and
<v Speaker 2>I was like, that was my first experience of going
<v Speaker 2>to a Disneyland. I got there, I went this is Disneyland.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah what is this now?
<v Speaker 1>Even I recently went to Japan and I had a
<v Speaker 1>similar experience. It's like, oh, these are the elements they
<v Speaker 1>choose to focus on because they have the rights to
<v Speaker 1>it all, but it's not governed by Disney or anything.
<v Speaker 1>They're allowed to just do their own thing with it.
<v Speaker 1>And so there's things like they still have Splash Mountain,
<v Speaker 1>and they still have Jungle Cruise with that bit in it.
<v Speaker 2>Don't They have the Jaws right as well, still.
<v Speaker 1>That universal they have a whole Amityville section that's on.
<v Speaker 2>A go there, because that's one of my I hate
<v Speaker 2>the fact that that Jaws was gone by the time
<v Speaker 2>I got to Florida. The voicing. Ah, I mean, it
<v Speaker 2>looks it looks like a basic ride, but it's just
<v Speaker 2>fucking cool man, it's the Jaws ride. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Oh the Jaws ride at Japan was so fun because yeah,
<v Speaker 1>usually in those because basically the ride is you're on
<v Speaker 1>a boat that goes it does a little circuit, but
<v Speaker 1>things go wrong and you know your tour guide is
<v Speaker 1>having to fight off a shark. But when you're going
<v Speaker 1>through one of these in an English speaking park, a
<v Speaker 1>lot of this stuff is telegraphed. Because our tour guide
<v Speaker 1>was speaking Japanese. For me and my girlfriend, there was
<v Speaker 1>like a genuine sense of fear. We didn't know what
<v Speaker 1>was happening, and when the sharks would come out of
<v Speaker 1>the water, genuine.
<v Speaker 2>Scares from us. That's amazing.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, so much fun, and yeah, just bring it back
<v Speaker 1>to Witchy and Scratchy Land as well. Yeah, we are
<v Speaker 1>way more fun in the line for the Simpsons ride
<v Speaker 1>because yeah, that were showing clips from Michie and Scratchy Land.
<v Speaker 1>We were like, do they want to be setting up
<v Speaker 1>this expectation while we're in their park? You know, chic
<v Speaker 1>it's pretty horribly wrong in Itch and Scratchy Land. But no,
<v Speaker 1>that was great. They had clips from the show when
<v Speaker 1>they're vacation episodes playing while you're in the line, and
<v Speaker 1>they have specifically made content for the Simpsons world, which
<v Speaker 1>is pretty funny as well. Yeah, we had a great time.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, now an episode that this is from about season twelve,
<v Speaker 2>I want to say, maybe a little bit later you've
<v Speaker 2>got on the list. Here is how I spent my
<v Speaker 2>Stromer vacation. I'm glad you threw this one out there
<v Speaker 2>because I was going to include it as well. I've
<v Speaker 2>always loved this. I particularly think this is one where
<v Speaker 2>I feel like they just did an amazing job of
<v Speaker 2>incorporating guest stars playing themselves because sometimes I say in
<v Speaker 2>the podcast that I prefer it when a guest star
<v Speaker 2>plays somebody who's not themselves, because how often do you find,
<v Speaker 2>now you've reviewed these episodes season nineteen or it's just
<v Speaker 2>a teen year, they go, hey, it's Britney Spears. Hey,
<v Speaker 2>we're telling you who it is, as it to say, hey,
<v Speaker 2>look who we have this week. When in the early
<v Speaker 2>episode doing in Springfield, yeah where a lot of the
<v Speaker 2>early episodes they would have a guest star and they'd
<v Speaker 2>play a character like Meryl Street plays Jessica love Joy.
<v Speaker 2>You have Dustin Hoffman playing mister name, mister mister Bergstrom,
<v Speaker 2>that's from mister Bergstrom. So and he didn't even have
<v Speaker 2>uses your name in the credits. What was it, samitic
<v Speaker 2>I think he used that, Yeah, But so I like
<v Speaker 2>it when they use the guest sometimes it works, but
<v Speaker 2>I prefer when I use the guest stars as a character.
<v Speaker 2>This one here though, when you've got the Rolling Stones
<v Speaker 2>and Lenny Kravitz and Tom Penny whatnot, you don't have
<v Speaker 2>them play somebody else. They're the Rolling Stones, you know
<v Speaker 2>what I mean? You have to And I thought having
<v Speaker 2>them at a rock camp sometimes they can feel shoehorned
<v Speaker 2>in the guest appearance, but this one felt like it
<v Speaker 2>just worked for me, just seeing all the men of
<v Speaker 2>Springfield getting to just really their youth again and feel
<v Speaker 2>like rock stars. Even it's just a camp, but I
<v Speaker 2>just really really enjoyed it. And just Jagger's dynamic with
<v Speaker 2>Dan as Homer, I thought was really funny throughout.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, just Jagger and Keith Richards as the camp leaders, Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>so wonderful. Like the other four are kind of a
<v Speaker 1>bit more superfluous and kindly get to or three lines
<v Speaker 1>for the whole episode, but there's such welcome additions to
<v Speaker 1>the whole thing. And Yeah, really builds out this world,
<v Speaker 1>which is kind of a thing. I don't know if
<v Speaker 1>you know the musician Kip Winger, but he was an
<v Speaker 1>eighties rock and roll star of the band Winger, and
<v Speaker 1>he runs these sort of camps or day events and
<v Speaker 1>things like that. Yeah, good midlife blokes a taste of
<v Speaker 1>what it's like living the rock star life.
<v Speaker 2>It's like a comic con for men who don't like
<v Speaker 2>nerd shit. It's for men who liked eighties haird metal.
<v Speaker 2>It's like this is their version of a comic con.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, and honestly for me as a big rock and
<v Speaker 1>roll fan. You know, I'm a bass player, and yeah,
<v Speaker 1>this is my type of music. Sort of seeing this
<v Speaker 1>as I'm like a teenager and getting into these sort
<v Speaker 1>of bands.
<v Speaker 2>This was just so cool.
<v Speaker 1>This is my world's colliding, and I'm having a lot
<v Speaker 1>of fun with it. Yeah, I know, going back to it,
<v Speaker 1>and it's such a goofy episode, but it is so
<v Speaker 1>persistently fun throughout it is. Yeah, it even defies expectations where, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>it starts out with Homer again very off the time,
<v Speaker 1>being on a taxi cab confessional show and instead of
<v Speaker 1>it into where the family hates Homer and resents him story,
<v Speaker 1>it's like, yeah, you need a break.
<v Speaker 2>Guy, because you know what, because he didn't know he
<v Speaker 2>was being filmed then, and I think that would have
<v Speaker 2>made them come across really poorly if they judged him
<v Speaker 2>for being open in a moment where he didn't realize
<v Speaker 2>you he was being seen.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, it's just one of these moments where that first
<v Speaker 1>act fuck you, the you know, absolute left turn on
<v Speaker 1>the story really works because it gives the episode such
<v Speaker 1>momentum and drive to from scene to scene to scene.
<v Speaker 1>And yeah, even though the final rock concert. Thing gets
<v Speaker 1>very wacky with the band chasing around Homer on a
<v Speaker 1>fire shooting devil Head.
<v Speaker 2>You have earned that moment. By the end, you have
<v Speaker 2>exactly right. And I'm glad you brought that about the
<v Speaker 2>intro as well, because and what you think about the more,
<v Speaker 2>I really actually appreciate it, because it's okay to be
<v Speaker 2>unhappy with things. It doesn't mean you dislike your life.
<v Speaker 2>It doesn't mean you dislike your family. But you know,
<v Speaker 2>everyone has grievances. Everyone has sometimes they just need to
<v Speaker 2>vent things, get things off their chest. Homer got that moment,
<v Speaker 2>and as he said, I'm really glad that they didn't
<v Speaker 2>hold him accountable for having emotions and having feelings about things.
<v Speaker 2>He's allowed to feel things, you know.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, fully, And I'm just realizing, you know, you can
<v Speaker 1>build a playlist out of this as well. Homer not
<v Speaker 1>wanting this vacation to end, but not wanting the other
<v Speaker 1>vacation to end.
<v Speaker 2>It's almost like they have a template. Yeah, if you're

<v Speaker 2>make that footage available because they must have. They must
<v Speaker 2>have filmed all the guest stars being on the show.

<v Speaker 2>cast recording the show. To me, even to this day,
<v Speaker 2>it's twenty twenty five, The Simpsons arguably the most iconic
<v Speaker 2>TV show of all time. There's no good, real deep
<v Speaker 2>dive documentary about the show, and it astounds me. I
<v Speaker 2>feel like they could do a Netflix no ten part
<v Speaker 2>series on this show, or Disney Plus ten part series
<v Speaker 2>on the show, really showing home video footage showing how
<v Speaker 2>the show came to be, really show the nitty and goody.
<v Speaker 2>It's almost like The Simpsons because people aren't as well

<v Speaker 2>that shit, Why is that not out? Why is that
<v Speaker 2>not available? To me? It astounds me.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, because there's I mean there's a lot on the
<v Speaker 1>DVD's fortunately, and you know over at our Patreon we're

<v Speaker 2>his name is. Who is the awesome partner of Duckwin

<v Speaker 2>you know, this this new sci fi movie and what
<v Speaker 2>it was, and then just that was it. And I've
<v Speaker 2>got no, I guess, no, no royalties for it because
<v Speaker 2>it was just a one and done gig. Here's the
<v Speaker 2>voice of the fucking Stormtroopers and he gets no royalties
<v Speaker 2>for it. Isn't that insane?
<v Speaker 1>Well, yeah, I think the we're gonna be like discovering
<v Speaker 1>this a lot because a lot of these voice actors
<v Speaker 1>back then it wasn't as round upon to take non
<v Speaker 1>union gigs, you know. And I'm sure that's what it
<v Speaker 1>would have been the case for Harry Shearer. He probably
<v Speaker 1>just got paid a one time fee to read some
<v Speaker 1>stuff for this movie.

<v Speaker 1>Star Wars has and yeah, we just get these fascinating
