00:00:00 Speaker 1: You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox Sports Radio. 00:00:04 Speaker 2: Pole question for the final hour of the program, Dylan is what. 00:00:09 Speaker 3: Well, Dan, we can recap last hour, which was the NFL Draft this year was too short, too long, or just the right length? Fifty eight percent of people think it was just the right length. 00:00:18 Speaker 2: Okay. 00:00:19 Speaker 3: And for the final hour, we got a couple options. How much stock do you put in a team's draft grade right after the draft? You know, there's what's the difference between an A minus and a B plus? 00:00:29 Speaker 2: Really, Dan? Yeah? 00:00:31 Speaker 3: Or a C or a D. 00:00:32 Speaker 2: Yeah. I didn't get a minus B pluses. I was kind of hanging in the BC D. 00:00:40 Speaker 3: Canador and look how you turned out. 00:00:43 Speaker 2: Yeah, but you know, my kids always say that when I say, when they were in college, they said, come on, you know, bring home some good great. Well you didn't, I said, I know, I know, but I'm I'm not the normal here. Don't follow me. Well, you're successful, I know what. Talk to your mom, you know, just get good grades. Yeah, like she did. Yeah, you know when they sass back a little bit there, but they do have, you know, some ground to stand on. And I said, I never should have shared that with you. Yes, yes, Uh, Martin, you. 00:01:20 Speaker 4: Live by to motto do as I say, not as I do. Yeah, you want your kids to be better, especially academically. That's my one regret. I won a good student. I wish that I I don't have the attention span. I was trying to think. My wife brought this up. When's the last time, not in a movie theater, that I actually saw a movie all the way through in one sitting? And I said, I can't. I can't recall. 00:01:45 Speaker 2: I don't know when that was because I will chop it up and usually a two hour movie is going to take me four days. It does? It does? 00:01:55 Speaker 3: Yes, yes, Dylan, did you watch The Irishman by a chance? Because I would have taken you like a year and a half. 00:02:00 Speaker 2: I haven't finished it yet. Yeah. But I just don't have the attention span. And it's either you get me early or you lose me. And that was the way it was in school. Not good. How about we go around the room see if we got some good, best and worst of the weekend, Todd, you went to see the Michael Jackson bio pick I did. 00:02:22 Speaker 5: That was my best of the weekend. 00:02:22 Speaker 6: I thought the casting was great, and I don't know if there's a golden Globe for the gentleman that played Michael. It was part of the Michael Jackson family, but I thought he was very believable as Michael. So if you're on the fence, I would say go check it out. Worst we mentioned it earlier in the show. 00:02:35 Speaker 5: Timberolves go up three one of the nugget Saurday Night, but. 00:02:37 Speaker 6: The Vincenzo season's over during his achilles early in the game, very early in the game, and ant Man out for weeks. 00:02:42 Speaker 5: Hypek that had left me and a bone bruise. 00:02:44 Speaker 2: Saturday Night, the Rockets had thirty points off twenty four Laker turnovers. They avoided the sweep. There no Kevin Durant. Wemby went for twenty seven to twelve, seven blocks, four steals as the Spurs beat the Blaze take a three to one. 00:03:01 Speaker 3: Seriously, Dylan, Yeah, Dan, My best Michigan State offensive lineman Matt Goldben, taken two oh ninth overall by the Commanders, who happens to hail from my hometown of Wilton, Connecticut, which is not exactly a football hotbed, so that's pretty cool to see. My worst of the weekend was my flight from Pittsburgh to Baltimore, one of the bumpier ones I've had recently, and an aborted landing, about to touch down, go back up and circle around, and there's actually a group of deaf people in front of me who are, like, you know, communicating with sign language. So I had my headphones on so I can't hear anything, but I see the tone of the sign language get more and more aggressive as we're going back up, and I was like, this can't be good. 00:03:47 Speaker 2: Even if you didn't have your headphones on, you wouldn't have heard. Though, Yeah, you're right. 00:03:52 Speaker 3: I didn't think about that. 00:03:54 Speaker 2: I'm just saying tooche sir, Yeah, yes, Pauli Dylan. 00:03:58 Speaker 7: When you say a boarded land how physically close are you to the ground when you go back. 00:04:03 Speaker 1: Up like this? 00:04:04 Speaker 3: I think it varies. This one. It's happening before this one was like we were about to touch down on the runway like it's you know, matter of you know whatever, one hundred feet or something and then right back up. 00:04:18 Speaker 2: I last year, during wintertime, I had a flight slide off the runway on landing. That's terrifying. Yes, it was, because you keep going, uh, we're not stopping, but you know, the brakes are on and you landed, and you just keep going and then all of a sudden that it's just like this jolt and then you stop. But nobody says anything, and I keep thinking, that's not a normal landing. That was a long, long landing. 00:04:48 Speaker 7: Yeah, police, So the pilot just jumps on, says walking Orlando. 00:04:51 Speaker 2: I mean just well, no, it wouldn't have affected Orlando in the winter. Maybe coming back from Orlando to New York. 00:04:58 Speaker 7: Did everybody applauded at the end when he nailed it stuck the landing or No? 00:05:03 Speaker 2: I don't remember that. I think I was probably trying to get my breath back. 00:05:08 Speaker 6: Yes, Ton, what is the worst reason you ever heard while you were waiting for a flight that was delayed as to what the explanation was to why this is the door? 00:05:15 Speaker 2: How about we start with you because you probably have a story. 00:05:17 Speaker 3: I have a story. 00:05:18 Speaker 2: Okay, thank you. 00:05:19 Speaker 6: I was trying to connect from DC to Pittsburgh, another one of those weird ways of getting to our destination, and they said there was a squishy wheel, and I would have rather them say something far worse, like we can't find the engine or the wing fell off, and we're trying to glue it back. A squishy wheel was the reason why I was delayed an hour and a half, couldn't make my connection. Then I got to stay for four and a half hours in the DC airport for a ten to twelve pm departure to Pittsburgh, getting in like eleven thirty. 00:05:42 Speaker 2: Yes, sometimes it's like too much information. When you're at the dinner table and you always have this relative who wants to tell you about surgery, and you don't need to tell me everything about it, Like a squishy wheel, you don't need to tell me that. You can just say we got something mechanical that we have to tend to and then I'm okay with that. But you don't want to say, you know what, we found a wrench and it was tucked inside one of the engines. Here, man, we're in trouble. I don't want to hear anything. We can't get the cargo door closed. 00:06:15 Speaker 7: Bank bank bank, Yeah, Paul, my honeymoon, New York to Hawaii. We're flying. We're a couple hours away from Hawaii. You know, it's maybe eleven hour flight. And the pilot, ladies and gentlemen, he says, there's an issue with one of the four engines. But he said, he goes, if we were ten minutes ago found this issue, we were turning back and going to Los Angeles, lax to land and deal with it. But since we're past the midway point, we're going all the way to Hawaii. But he told everybody, and everyone started kind of freaking out because one engine is down and you have two more hours until Hawaii. No turnaround. 00:06:50 Speaker 2: Yeah, but you get to the point of no return, right, It's like, well, it'll take two hours to get back or two hours to get there. I was. I did a Sports Center interview with Sean Bradley, the former BYU player. He was on a Mormon mission in Sydney, Australia, and I went over and did this feature on Sean Bradley going door to door, prostolitizing, you know, talking about his religion. So coming back, we are two hours out of Sydney and I'm on the wing. I'm seated the window right on the wing with a woman who'd never flown before, and all of a sudden, I just see this black plume of smoke and she had already been gripping my hand like she was pat, you know, just terrified. She goes, what was that? And I casually said, we just blew an engine. What does that mean? I said, we're gonna have to go back? So we were two hours coming back from Australia, we had to fly back, changed planes. We were like two or three hours waiting and then we have to go back. And then the woman was sitting next to me on the way back, she stayed awake the entire time, gripping the uh the kind of the railings there on your on your seats. Oh my god. But I just remember it boom, And I said, we just blew our engine. 00:08:23 Speaker 3: Yeah, Jo, It is funny too, because like you're you're over the open ocean. You're like, this feels worse somehow the result will be the exact same thing if it go south. But like, yeah, just a little bit weather. 00:08:35 Speaker 2: But can't you touch down on the water like Sully did, as opposed to trying to touch down in a field somewhere? 00:08:43 Speaker 3: You can I'm guessing the success rate is fairly loud. 00:08:46 Speaker 2: Okay, What's like? I did a hot air balloon one time. Bad idea intentions were great, and I thought, you know what, I'm gonna take my wife, be like a sunset hot air balloon and it's okay. First of all, the thing that blower where they go and you could singe your eyebrows, and so it's my wife, me and then the pilot and I just remember it was so hot in there, and all you could do is think when you're up there is God. This is gonna hurt if we fall. And you know, my wife said stop looking down, and I go, okay, all right. Then we get ready to land. Well I see where we're trying to land. All of a sudden there's like this fence that was right there, and the guy goes, hey, this might hurt. I go what. So we we hit the ground, we go over the fence, and so the baskets upside down. Now you know, we had brought like wine and cheese and all that stupid lovey dovey stuff fall over the place. We were the crackers. We're like all over the place. And then I go and then we get out of the hot air balloon, and I think, I'm thinking, you know, this's a nice little sunset. This is great. And it turned out to be just one of those that we see hot air balloons, and we both got not going to do that again, yeah, Pauline, and. 00:10:22 Speaker 7: You probably prepaid, right, oh yeah, yeah yeah yeah. Can you ask for your money backup? You have a rough landing like that. 00:10:28 Speaker 2: I don't I didn't think of it. I just was happy. And then you're away from your car, so they have cars, they're vans that are following you. And then you know, we get out and then other people who were in their hot air balloons probably had beautiful landings, and then they see us and we're still shaking. We got, you know, cheese, I got you know, monster cheese in my ear. Yes, yes, it's time. 00:10:54 Speaker 6: You can't live your life in fear as I do. But you know, there's a lovely, romantic view from the sky that important. My wife to this day was very upset. We went to Hawaii for our honeymoon. I wouldn't want to go in one of these little helicopter or prop planes that you know, goes over the volcanoes and everything, because I just didn't feel safe doing that. 00:11:13 Speaker 5: So I don't know, like, you. 00:11:14 Speaker 6: Know, there's got to be a way where you can enjoy a beautiful view without being in like a. 00:11:17 Speaker 5: Big picnic basket and a hot air balloon with some people. That's my tick. 00:11:22 Speaker 2: Thank you, Todd. I did the helicopter above the volcano. 00:11:26 Speaker 5: Oh yeah, seems to have made it out, okay. 00:11:28 Speaker 2: Yeah, I survived, Todd. It was pretty spectacular. Although one of my kids threw. 00:11:34 Speaker 7: Up all over the place in a helicopter. 00:11:36 Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, kind of hot. Hard to hide from, you know, vomit in the helicopter, yes, yes, stealing. 00:11:44 Speaker 3: I think that's my thing with like hot air balloons and helicopters is there's no backup plan like a plane can glide. Those just kind of something goes wrong, you're just dropping like a stone. As as far as I know. 00:11:59 Speaker 2: Thank you do. 00:12:00 Speaker 3: You're welcome. 00:12:01 Speaker 2: Marvin. Best and worst of the weekend. 00:12:03 Speaker 4: Best of the weekend. I hated Coleman Domingo as Joe Jackson. That's how good of an actor he was. I like, I hated Joe Jackson because Coleman Domingo was so good as Joe Jackson. Boy, he was not nice to Michael. Worst of the weekend the Atlanta Hawks home crowd. That sounded like Madison Square Garden, Atlanta, where's your home crowd? But you know what, the flight, the hotel, the seats, in Atlanta were probably cheaper than just those bleed seats at Madison Square Garden, so I could see why. 00:12:32 Speaker 2: Paulie best and worst of the week. 00:12:34 Speaker 7: Best of the weekend. The Celtics win, But I think to see Jason Tatum back at full speed in under a year with his Achilles injury, it feels like medicine is making a turn in sports. Like Shoho Tani didn't really miss much with his elbow procedure, and they didn't use a phrase Tommy John and. 00:12:50 Speaker 2: But I wonder about Dante di Vincenzo if he's having that surgery like right now, because Jason Tatum, yeah, said he had it right away and that helped him come back. Your worst of the weekend. 00:13:02 Speaker 7: My other best is the Jets draft. And I'm not an analyst, but base on what the analysts say, they may have gotten five starters. I'm kind of done with the Jets stinking. I don't really like or hate them in any way, but I think it'd be kind of cool to see them go on a run of relevancy and be a good team. It'd been bad for too long. 00:13:18 Speaker 2: It's Bolton. 00:13:18 Speaker 7: It's a boring storyline. 00:13:20 Speaker 2: Okay, Adam in La Hi. Adam best and worst of the weekend. 00:13:25 Speaker 8: Good morning, Dan Dennett's my best and worst of the weekend. My best was the Dodgers taking two out of three from those hot Cubs. Also a second best, which was Lebron late game heroics willing the Lakers to overtime win in the series three to zero lead, which I know they lost last night Game four, but you know, Lakers and five. And then my worst was I looked just as surprised as Sean McVay looked with the selection of Ty Simpson. I mean, really, which could have been a long term plan. What's fine? But I agreed with you, Dan, like why not mackay Lemon or another immediate impactful player Like you said, We're right, they're on the cuss winning the Super Bowl. It's not going to help right now unless unfortunately Matthew Safford goes down injured. But just seem awkwards as less less snee and general manager and Sean mcbear are always seemingly on the same page. So that was a little odd. But again, I have a great week. Appreciate your time. 00:14:17 Speaker 9: You're the best DP. 00:14:17 Speaker 2: Thank you, Buden. That's Adam in Los Angeles. Yeah, I don't care what Sean McVay says. He I think he was surprised disappointed, salting, but I get it. I would be because I'm already hearing from Seahawk fans. I know you won the Super Bowl. I'm just saying I thought the Rams were the best team last year that I saw, and talent wise, you won the Super Bowl and you did it in convincing fashion. Congratulations. The Rams, according to DraftKings, are the favorite to win the Super Bowl this year. So that's why I was bringing up, you're that close. You got Stafford for this year, maybe another year. DeVante Adams thirty four, Puka Nakua. Hopefully you know, he stops doing stupid things. You know, this is the thirteenth pick in the draft and he's not going to do anything for a couple of years. Probably. I just man, I could get I can get the best tight end, I could get the best wide receiver. They're both available. Man, maybe maybe first of all, Ty Simpson. I did see him play games, even the Florida State game. I thought he really handled himself pretty well because he was under fire the entire game. He does have talent, but man, fifteen starts, No go, no go. Can't do that. So that bothers me. The fact that Alabama was moving on from him. It was either he was going to mind and he was going to get six and a half million dollars in IL or he's going pro. But when less Sneed reportedly tells Ty Simpson's dad that Ty is going to be a first round pick, well, the Rams have a first round pick. It just felt like his dad may have made that decision because based off less Snead saying your son is a first round town. And look, I know I brought up you know that my friend who is a scout, said he didn't have a first round grade, but he said somebody will draft him in the first round. I just wouldn't take somebody who doesn't have that many starts. And so, all right, take a break. When we come back. Imagine you're one of the fastest people on the planet, but you weren't the fastest person on the planet over the weekend. Second best. We'll talk about that when we return. 00:16:58 Speaker 1: Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio. 00:17:07 Speaker 10: W app, Steve Gott's here. Sebastian Sawwee. He is the first runner in history to finish a marathon in under two minutes or two hours. But in the same marathon, you're the second guy to finish a marathon in under two hours. It's kind of like Neil Armstrong's on the moon and you're buzz Aldron, Like, is that the worst second place finish? Buzz Aldron second on the moon to Neil Armstrong. PAULI. 00:18:51 Speaker 7: Well, the guy in the London marathon who finished second, he's Ethiopian. His name is Jomuth kelchok. 00:18:57 Speaker 2: Oh he's Ethiopian. 00:18:58 Speaker 7: What a surprise, Docker, Yeah, he's not from Canada. He according to this report. According to this article, it was his first ever marathon. So in his first ever marathon, Jomath Kelcha had the second fastest time in the history of Earth. I don't know if I could buy that. Like what his friends say, Hey, we're doing a little thing this weekend. We're gonna run a marathon. Oh, you're the second fastest in the history of man. 00:19:23 Speaker 2: Yes, the second fastest marathon in history. And they've been running the marathon since what seventy six AD. 00:19:34 Speaker 7: So that's a bad second place because the guy Saway is getting all the pub He was the first. 00:19:40 Speaker 2: Yeah, like, nobody's gonna run it in under an hour in our lifetime, So no one will ever do something as magnanimous as that in the marathon, to run it in under two hours. Yes, Dylan, I was gonna. 00:19:55 Speaker 3: Say John van Derveld in terms of coming in second place, that's got. 00:19:59 Speaker 2: To be up there for worse British Open. 00:20:02 Speaker 3: Yep. 00:20:02 Speaker 2: Did he finish second? 00:20:03 Speaker 3: Yeah, he finished second? Okay, well bleuee. He had the three shot lead on the final hole. 00:20:07 Speaker 4: Yes. 00:20:08 Speaker 2: Yes. In fact, they said if he just used his wedge and was just hitting his wedge with each shot, that he would still would have won by a shot. 00:20:16 Speaker 3: That's tough. 00:20:17 Speaker 2: I was watching golf yesterday Rory Sabatini on the Senior Tour, the Champions Tour. He was putting with his wedge. I don't did he break his putter, because I all of a sudden I see him and he's got his wedge out and he's putting, and I go ooh. And I think Sabatini used to have a pretty good temper, so I don't know if he broke his putter, but I was I was watching that so back to finishing second. 00:20:45 Speaker 7: Yes, Polly, the moon landing, I've got a little backstore here. It wasn't like they parked the ship and Neil Armstrong just ran out first and hijacked the thing. It was planned, but initially when they first mocked us up the year before, buzz Aldrin was scheduled to leave first, but then because of the physical limitations with all the equipment, Neil Armstrong had to leave first, and buzz Aldron went over to the right and out second twenty minutes later. I don't think that's a bad second second man on the moon. You probably got a lot of run off that and he's still alive. 00:21:16 Speaker 2: Okay, But I don't know how many people know that buzz Aldron's the second guy on the moon. Everybody knows Neil Armstrong off Son't imagine if buzz Aldron is at a dinner party when Neil Armstrong was alive and everybody wants to talk to Neil, nobody wants to talk to buzz Yeah, yes, Todd. 00:21:35 Speaker 5: What an embarrassment that would have been for Nassa. 00:21:37 Speaker 6: They started elbowing each other as they got off the thing, trying to fight to be the first. 00:21:40 Speaker 2: One on entre publicity, Thank you, tod U. What other? Who was the swimmer who finished second to Michael Phelps that famous photo finish in the Olympics. His last name was like Kaevich. 00:21:57 Speaker 7: Yeah, you nailed it, Kaevich. Okay, and his arms work extended. It looked like he had won, but Phelps went with one more oh my stroke and stole. 00:22:05 Speaker 2: It by Okay. Who else second place finish in history? Any other sports? Yes, Marvin. 00:22:15 Speaker 4: Larry Dobie was the second black player to break the color barrier. Good call, and no movies being made about him. 00:22:20 Speaker 2: No, they're not retiring his number throughout baseball or having a special day with Larry Dobie with Cleveland. 00:22:26 Speaker 4: Correct. 00:22:28 Speaker 2: Yeah, Jackie Robinson once again, you're Larry Dobe. You go to a party and you go, hey, who's gonna be here? 00:22:35 Speaker 11: Oh? 00:22:35 Speaker 2: You got this guy and this guy and this guy. Oh Jackie Robinson. Yeah, I'm not gonna go. Yes, Dylney, do. 00:22:43 Speaker 3: You remember the snowboarder Lindsey jacob Ellis and she was coming down celebrated. Yeah? 00:22:50 Speaker 2: Was she celebrating coming down? 00:22:52 Speaker 3: She did like a celebratory like method grab going off a little jump. She was I mean like White years ahead of everyone falls comes in second place. 00:23:00 Speaker 2: Yeah, but that was brutal. But I don't know how important Olympic medals were to the skateboarders snowboarders. They should say, now you get bonuses, but I don't know. I remember when we had the X Games at the Mothership, and I remember some people who worked on it said they wanted that was their Olympics, Like they didn't want to share. They didn't want to do what everybody, you know, was kind of normal. Oh it's the Olympics. No, no, we have our own over here. And then there was that crossover, and then now we don't even think about it. I guess the X Games are still going on. I haven't seen them in a long time, but you know, I haven't been at the Mothership in twenty years. So back then, you know, we had to promote it. 00:23:47 Speaker 7: Yeah, palling a couple more second places. There was this Jamaican sprinter named Johann Blake, remember him. He was really good, but he was in the time of Usain Bolt. He finished second in the hundred to Bolt twice and then the two hundred once. One of the times he also broke the world record whilst finishing second. How about was it the twenty sixteen Golden State Warriors seventy three wins and they lost. If they complete that season, they've got some big time bragging rights with seventy three wins. That's a tough second place. 00:24:19 Speaker 2: Well then if that's the case, then you have to throw the Falcons in there against the Patriot. 00:24:23 Speaker 7: Why not, let's do it, ding ding ding. 00:24:25 Speaker 4: We found our winner. 00:24:25 Speaker 3: We waited a while. 00:24:26 Speaker 2: Its nice of us. We're trying to find other examples there. But yeah, second place finish, but playing, you know, but doing everything that you should do to finish first. But it's just not your day. Yeah, Pauline, what. 00:24:43 Speaker 7: About the Wright brothers, who was the second pair of guys to develop an airplane and they're like a week late. I don't know if that's out there, but imagine you invented air travel. 00:24:51 Speaker 2: But why is it Wilbur and Orville? Why not Orville and Wilbur? I remember Paul McCartney reportedly was upset that people thought Lennon wrote most of the music because if you look at the credits for the Beatles, it says Lennon and then McCartney, And I don't know if they did that just alphabetically, But I think Paul reportedly was bothered that it was always Lennon and McCartney. Yeah, pony. 00:25:19 Speaker 7: In history, it's usually written Orville and Wilbur Wright, and Orville is actually younger, so it should have been Wilbur first. 00:25:27 Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I don't. I mean. 00:25:30 Speaker 7: Orville Wilber was just tagging along for that thing. He had nothing to do with it, Yes, Dyl. 00:25:36 Speaker 3: What about like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs. Bill Gates I think was first, Steve Jobs comes in. You could argue maybe a second place finisher that ended up being better. 00:25:45 Speaker 2: M Yeah, those guys both did well. 00:25:48 Speaker 3: Yeah, they're they're doing fine. Bill Gates I guess now is doing better. 00:25:51 Speaker 2: But yeah, Steve Jobs passed away yeah a while ago. 00:25:58 Speaker 9: Yeah. 00:25:59 Speaker 2: Yeah, although Bill Gates's run into some issues here. 00:26:04 Speaker 7: Oh yeah yeah, not financial, more personal, very personal off the field. 00:26:09 Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he got divorced. There was an Epstein Island. Oh ran into some Russians, but he dressed it up. He made it seem like they were, you know, upstanding citizens, like this is a Russian astrologer or something. 00:26:25 Speaker 3: That he they're famous for that. 00:26:29 Speaker 2: Yeah, buy okay. 00:26:30 Speaker 7: Sir Edmund. Hillary is the first person to summit Mount Everest. Who's second? The sherpa right whose name we don't know. I know it, Norgay, he should have been. I never understood that he's carrying all this stuff. He carried everything. Why don't we give him credit? 00:26:49 Speaker 2: Sir Edmund would like for you to carry his bags while you climb up the mountain. 00:26:54 Speaker 7: Attending having a sip of tea, and Hillary runs up there he jumps on the top. 00:26:59 Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like, wait, where where's Where's Edmund? All be damned? He planted the flag. 00:27:04 Speaker 11: He beat me first. The sherpas are unbelievable. They carry all your stuff. They don't get credit, Sir Edmund, Hillary hijacker. I don't know what else Eddie Hillary did in his lifetime. 00:27:22 Speaker 7: His second bigges accompliy. 00:27:23 Speaker 2: Yeah, like what do you do? 00:27:25 Speaker 9: Hey? 00:27:25 Speaker 2: What have you done lately? There? Sir Edmund? 00:27:28 Speaker 8: Yes? 00:27:29 Speaker 2: Was he? 00:27:30 Speaker 3: Sir? Before he summited every he got knighted afterwards? Probably got night Yeah he wasn't. Just Oh, look, Sir Edmund's at it again. 00:27:36 Speaker 2: Yeah, can you get knighted again? 00:27:40 Speaker 3: The double knight? 00:27:42 Speaker 2: I don't know do they take away knight knighthood checking? I'm curious If they do that. 00:27:49 Speaker 3: That's got to be the most embarrassing thing that can happen to you as a British. 00:27:53 Speaker 2: But I don't know if they do that, do they take away your night like Prince Andrew, Well. 00:27:58 Speaker 7: If there's a candidate for it, yeah, Prince Andrew, he's I think he's just Andy now, Yeah, I think it's just you call Andy if you see him on the street. Yeah, in twenty twenty five, he was no pun intended stripped of his title. 00:28:11 Speaker 6: Yes, ton, I'm reading it could be lost through a formal process, not as forfeiture. 00:28:14 Speaker 5: Or degradation, losing your knighthood or dame hood. 00:28:18 Speaker 2: But who's lost their knighthood. I mean it's one thing that you could lose it, but as anybody lost their knighthood. 00:28:26 Speaker 3: Well, Dame Judy J. Dent still has hers, I think and rightfully. So, Yeah, there's somebody who turned it down. Might have been a musician. Maybe it was Keith Richards that somebody turned down being knighted. 00:28:43 Speaker 2: But I'm trying to think like Nick Faldo got knighted, right, he's Sir Nick Faldo. But I thought somebody turned it down in the last decade or so. 00:28:56 Speaker 3: I think I'm seeing David Bowie, did there you go? Yeah, and Stephen Hawking turned it down. Oh, I didn't know that. 00:29:04 Speaker 2: I did not know that either anything. I don't know. Oh yeah, second place finishes, yes, Marvin. 00:29:15 Speaker 4: The Buffalo Bills consistently second place. 00:29:19 Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, okay, but we don't we don't look at that as a great athletic achievement that they finished second in four consecutive Super Bowls, even though it's not going to happen again. 00:29:34 Speaker 4: I think history is being kind to the Buffalo Bills as of now. 00:29:38 Speaker 3: They are more memorable than the teams that won the Super Bowl for the four in a row. 00:29:43 Speaker 7: We in the media twist it as what an accounishment to get there four times? 00:29:48 Speaker 2: Well it should be. 00:29:49 Speaker 11: Yeah, it should be because if this was before the merger and they won the AFL Championship, they that was it. 00:29:59 Speaker 2: That was as far as you could go. Then there was the merger, and then of course the Super Bowl. Yes. 00:30:03 Speaker 4: Yeah, history's being consident because those nineties Bills they have Hall of famers, just like the seventies Steelers and the eighties forty nine ers. So history's being kind to them. 00:30:12 Speaker 7: Yeah, Paul Jack Nicholas finished second place in nineteen different major none in that wild you go, man, he could have put that way out there. 00:30:25 Speaker 2: Well, it's like Nolan Ryan had twelve one hitters, but he have seven no hitters. Yep, he had twelve one hitters. 00:30:34 Speaker 7: Bill Mickelson eleven second place finisters at majors Dale Earnhardt Sr. I think he for a couple decades didn't win the Daytona a bunch of seconds. 00:30:46 Speaker 2: This conference had the most draft picks this year. Thirty four percent of the draft picks are from this conference. If you said the Big ten, you'd be wrong. The SEC eighty seven players, Big ten, Second sixty eight, ACC thirty eight, Big twelve thirty eight, then Independent seven. Everybody else is like four three, two and one. So for the bad year that the SEC had, the SEC still had nineteen more draft picks than the Big ten did. Stat of the Day. Stat of the Day brought to you by Pendy America, The official trading cards of the Dan Patrick Show, The Queen of England's art advisor, lost his knighthood in nineteen seventy nine. He was exposed as a Soviet spy. Well that'll do it. 00:31:57 Speaker 7: That's a quick meeting when you're discussing weather day. 00:32:00 Speaker 2: Yeah, come on in there, Jimmy, give me it back? What give me it back? You're not a knight anymore? All right? Oh man, let me see anything else that we need to mention here. You know, we'll come back. We'll tell you what's in store tomorrow, what we learn last call for phone calls right after this. 00:32:26 Speaker 1: Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. I think you're gonna love this one. So there are three schools tied with the most quarterbacks drafted since twenty sixteen, with six each. Those schools are Alabama, Ohio State, and previous FCA member North Dakota State. 00:33:02 Speaker 13: Hmmm, stat of the day, That of the day, That stat of the day. Stat of the day. Here comes that? 00:33:12 Speaker 2: What stat of the day by Jason and Tennessee. Hi Jason, what's on your mind today? 00:33:21 Speaker 9: Hey? 00:33:21 Speaker 5: Dan? 00:33:22 Speaker 9: How are you sir, good, Jason Good, Hey, I have a better and a best for the weekend. Can I do that? 00:33:28 Speaker 7: Yeah? 00:33:29 Speaker 9: Better? Four years ago, my son was pitching in the state championship for baseball. Now fast forward the last four years, he has been on staff for the University of Tennessee baseball team as their sports analytics guy. And now the best part, he has now been hired by the Houston Astros as a player development associate. And it made me think. I saw Todd's vintage Houston Astros jersey and I thought, man, I need to give my son a shout out. I had let him know how proud I am of him. 00:34:01 Speaker 2: All right, well, thank you, Jason. Might be easier to just call him, but uh, I'm glad you waited for almost an hour to be able to give him a shout out. So congratulations Jason. Yes, Baly, I. 00:34:14 Speaker 7: Have a question about baseball analytics. I just if, based off analytics, teams throw certain pitches to certain times of the game to certain players certain batters. Don't the hitters absolutely know based off their analytics what's coming. 00:34:28 Speaker 5: Yeah, that I. 00:34:30 Speaker 7: Don't understand, because if you're using the same analytics properties or tools, you would both know exactly what's about to happen. 00:34:36 Speaker 2: I would think, so get back to you, except for the Boston Red Sox who fired everybody, right, like who fires everybody in April? Yes? 00:34:46 Speaker 4: Uh oh. 00:34:47 Speaker 6: You think you're so confident in your pitcher's ability. Is that even though the batter knows what's coming, the pitcher is just going to throw such a great pitch the hitter won't be able to hit it anyway. 00:34:54 Speaker 2: Yeah, because you're gonna go, Okay, what is the book on me? This is what players want to know. So you'll find out scouting reports and you say, all right, what's the book of first ball? Hitter always takes the first pitch? Uh, good, breaking ball hitter, not afraid to go out of the strike zone, discipline, won't go out of the stroke. I mean all of these things. You you're gonna find out what they think they found out, and then you may adjust accordingly. 00:35:22 Speaker 13: Uh. 00:35:22 Speaker 2: Lewis in North Carolina. Hi Lewis, what's on your mind today? 00:35:26 Speaker 5: Hey? 00:35:27 Speaker 14: Dan, I got longtime caller. I got two things I wanted to say for my best. Uh. The Spurs up three to one in their playoff game. They're doing great. I want to know my worst is the Titans taking a receiver. I think they should have went defense with Carneal take Uh just bad tick. I'm going with the receiver for the Titans, and I want to say you have a great show and thank you very much for letting me out. 00:35:56 Speaker 2: All right, lewis uh the NBA title odds, it's okay. See minus one fifteen, Spurs next at plus four fifty, Celtics at plus five hundred. That's it. Then it goes down to the Cavaliers plus seventeen hundred, Nuggets plus twenty two hundred. Bob in Tallahassee, Good morning. 00:36:16 Speaker 8: Bob, greeting sir. 00:36:19 Speaker 9: Two things. 00:36:20 Speaker 8: Were you ever able to witness Roberto Clemente? 00:36:25 Speaker 2: He did him? 00:36:26 Speaker 8: Were you ever able to witness Rocky Colavito playing in person? Because I mean you talk about arms, there was an arm to compare. 00:36:33 Speaker 2: Yeah, Rocky played for Cleveland. I don't I know my dad took me to a Cleveland Indians game because my brother favorite player was Rocky Colavito. But I don't remember anything about it. If I was tagging along and I couldn't have been very old. But I know that Rocky Colavito because we were in Ohio. But I have no idea if I saw him in per Trip in Vegas. Welcome back Trip, Hey, good morning Dan. 00:37:05 Speaker 15: I was good to speak with y'all. I had a best of the weekend. I also have a crazy maybe second place finish when Carl Perkins in fifty five recorded blue Slate Shoes and then gotten that wreck and fifty six on his way to play it, and Elvis dropped it as his lead song on his first album, his debut album, Nobody Knows Really, Carl Perkins saying blue sweight shoes and then my best of the weekend would I am now a permanent Rams fan because if Sean mcvay's face was upset. We had bet over two quarterbacks in the first round, so when he took Di Senson, they should have had a camera on us because we were super excited. 00:37:41 Speaker 2: Yeah, the over under one and a half quarterbacks, and we were taken the over because I did think somebody, if it was the Cardinals, the Jets, the Rams, that they were going to come back into the first round or at the end of the first round they were going to take him. Yeah. I never knew that about Carl Perkins. But I will say this even at Carl Perkins had done blue suede shoes. If Elvis recorded it after, people are still going to remember Elvis doing it, even if Carl Perkins was performing that. I mean, when Elvis came along, I mean, that was it. But you know, go back to Pat Boone. Pat Boone ended up recording all the Little Richard, all these songs that the black artists couldn't perform or record, and then Pat Boone came in and kind of softened him up or something. 00:38:29 Speaker 4: Now, Yeah, because him trying to do wop bopa geez. 00:38:36 Speaker 2: I know, Little Richard was way ahead of his time in a variety of ways. He was wild but talented. 00:38:49 Speaker 4: Yes, Marv, there's a documentary or HBO MAXIWM Little Richard that came out maybe last year. 00:38:53 Speaker 2: Yeah, so good. 00:38:55 Speaker 4: He's easily fifty years ahead of his time. 00:38:58 Speaker 2: And and like you look at these Mike Prince and some of those, guy Michael Jackson, Little Richard paved the way it. 00:39:06 Speaker 4: All stands back. Yes, like the Beatles opened up for him. 00:39:10 Speaker 2: PAULI this day in sports history. 00:39:12 Speaker 7: In nineteen thirty eight, they try to use yellow baseballs in college baseball, and it actually got used briefly in the pros. They thought it'd be easier to see than white baseballs didn't last long in MLB, didn't last long at all, And let's see nineteen forty seven, it was Babe Ruth Day. At Yankee Stadium. 00:39:31 Speaker 2: Nineteen fifty three, the phrase pencil necked geek was coined. Anybody want to take a guess? This person coined the phrase pencil necked geek. Wrestler nineteen fifty three. Freddie Blassi, fred Blassy, Classy, Freddy Blassie did Rim name drop fred Blassie in a song? Paul, you got a minute to see if Rim dropped his name? 00:40:13 Speaker 7: Yeah, I should have had that on my screen. Freddy Blassie is mentioned in the nineteen ninety two Rim song Man on the Moon, Mister Freddy Blassie in a breakfast mess in the course. 00:40:25 Speaker 2: Should be a walk off, but I got to stay here till the very end. Todd would you learn today? 00:40:30 Speaker 4: You don't believe? 00:40:30 Speaker 6: Joan mcvaber was grumpy about something else when he looked upset about the RAMS selection of Ty Simpson at. 00:40:34 Speaker 3: Thirteen Dylan, what did you learn today? Sometimes fast is not enough? 00:40:38 Speaker 4: Marvin Steph Curry had his ankles blessed. 00:40:41 Speaker 7: Paul pencil neck geek Todd. 00:40:44 Speaker 5: Time will tell, but you do like what the Jets did in this draft. 00:40:46 Speaker 2: I do. I think it sets him up for next year and we'ren't trying to solve everything this year.
