April 08, 2010 - John Romita Jr. has been an A-list artist for the past 30 years. Primarily known for his work at Marvel Comics with legendary runs on Uncanny X-Men, Amazing Spider-Man, Thor and many other projects like World War Hulk, The Sentry, The Punisher: War Zone and more, Romita Jr. has followed in the footsteps of his father, John Romita Sr., making great Marvel Comics. Recently, his foray into creator owned work with Mark Millar gave us Kick-Ass, the realistic/hyper violent tale of a kid who becomes a super hero. As we all know, Kick-Ass has been adapted into a movie by Matthew Vaughn and is set to be released next week. Josh Flanagan and Ron Richards jumped at the chance to chat with John Romita Jr.

After a long hiatus, Booksplode has returned, to talk, in depth about a particularly good graphic novel or comic collection, and now we're doing Starman Omnibus Vol. 2 with Josh Flanagan, Conor Kilpatrick, and Paul Montgomery. This book continues the stories set up by James Robinson back in the first volume, and expands Jack Knight's world and relationships exponentially. With regular art by Tony Harris, at the top of his game, and guest art from luminaries like JH Williams III, Chris Sprouse, Guy Davis, and more, this book is a joy to behold on almost every page. Get ready for a whole lot of praise for a whole lot of good comics.

January 21, 2010 - Scott Allie is the managing editor at Dark Horse Comics, where he edits many of the most successful comics at Dark Horse, like Hellboy, The Goon and Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Writer Brian Wood and new to Northlanders artist Leandro Fernandez take you to the cold of Russia in 1020 A.D. for this tale of crime, survival and historical fiction. Brian Wood stopped by and chatted with us for a little bit to tell us about this new issue of Northlanders, from the setting and the basic story to the origins of the research involved with putting this story together. We also find out about what it's like to work with a new artist like Leandro Fernandez and the challenges of giving an artist from South America a story set in Russia in the winters. The Vertigo blog recently highlighted the art of Leandro Fernandez where you can see some dazzling pencils to inks. So give a listen and if you enjoy crime stories, or historical fiction, or survival horror, Northlanders #21 may be a good book to check out at the comic book store tomorrow.
