The Stevie Richards Show Episode 94 | WrestleMania 42 Fallout

With the taste of WrestleMania 42 still fresh in our mouths and the first Raw after Mania in the rear view as well, Stevie Richards is taking some time to discuss some of the bigger stories coming out of the last week in the wrestling world. Pat McAfee seems to have hobbled off into the sunset for good, followed by the "Beast Incarnate" Brock Lesnar who surprised a lot of people including, it seems, Triple H. An sad number of negative "fan" interactions have taken place in hotels and other areas in the Vegas area, Mark Shapiro made it VERY clear who is in control of WWE and a record number of What Went Wrongs involving Iyo Sky, Sol Ruca and Bron Breakker.

The Stevie Richards Show Episode 82 - The Show That Killed Off ECW

The much maligned WWE version of ECW is something many fans talk about today. What would quickly become the third brand behind RAW and Smackdown, WWECW was held in large arenas with the same production value as the other shows and was broadcast on big television network. So far removed from the original product, fans of the old school ECW who had hoped to see the hardcore promotion make a comeback quickly soured and it wouldn't take long for the product to die a very messy death.

In this episode, Stevie will talk about the 8th episode of WWE ECW as well as some of the news surrounding the event at the time and how this particular show marked the beginning of the end of what was the 3rd WWE brand. John Cena was once the most polarising sports entertainer in the history of the business. The finish of his final match would be no different, turns out. Immediately splitting opinion of not only the live crowd and the audience at home but also those of the host and co-host of The Stevie Richards Show. Gunther stuck to his word and made John Cena give up in his final match. Was it the right way to end the match and the historic career of the "Greatest Of All Time"?

The whole event was built on the future of the business making a mark against the company's standard setters and future Hall of Famers. NXT champion, Oba Femi demonstrated huge power and intensity against undisputed champion Cody Rhodes, Sol Ruca put on a wonderful show and impressive victory against fan favourite, Bayley. Then the pairing of Je'von Evans and TNA X-Division champion Leon Slater almost had a quick win over the WWE tag team champions, Dragon Lee and the first X-Divison champ, AJ Styles where the Phenomenal One would show he can still hang with a team whose combined age still doesn't exceed his own. Sometimes, creative has nothing for you. Sometimes, you're out of shape. Sometimes, you're just not quite ready for TV. So sometimes, you have to go to developmental. Small, regional promotions up and down the USA were known to be the farming ground for future WWE talent and a means for existing talent to get back to basics, come up with a new gimmick or even to fade into obscurity (sometimes). This week, Stevie Richards will talk to us about his time in WWE's developmental territory, HWA. Following the end of his run as the leader of RTC, Stevie was circling the drain (prf=ofessionally speaking) and could have been released from WWE altogether. His time in HWA helped Stevie get back in shape and back in touch with the kind of work that would keep him on the roster for quite some time longer.

The Stevie Richards Show Episode 33 | ECW Barely Legal Pt1

Despite being postponed numerous times and at risk of being cancelled all together, in 1997, ECW did put out their first PPV. Stevie Richards was there and he will share his thoughts on what was going on at the time and the people around him who made the PPV happen. In 1993, Heyman took control of what was once Eastern Championship Wrestling and transformed it into a hardcore,rebellious promotion that will forever change the landscape of the industry.It was a breeding ground for innovation and giving rise to legends like Tommy Dreamer, Raven, The Sandman and many others.

Under Heyman's leadership, the promotion became a sanctuary for the outcasts, the misfits and the wrestling fans who wanted something raw and something real. But while Heyman may have been a visionary for his time, running ECW was not without its fair share of scandals. Behind the scenes, Ecu's finances were a disaster, for Heyman's passion for the product was undeniable, but his ability to handle the business side was far less successful. From bouncing checks to lying to his talent about payments, many of the roster members were left in the dark, literally and financially. As the promotion struggled to stay afloat.

The company's eventual collapse in 2001 was a direct result of these financial mismanagement issues.Despite all the passion and energy Heyman poured into his promotion, by the time he went under the unpaid wages, the broken promises and the bouncing checks had left a bitter taste in the mouths of many who have worked for him. Today we discuss the legacy of Paul Heyman.
