Wild on 7th

The Minnesota Wild's Stanley Cup Playoff run has ended in disappointing fashion. After an unbelievable start to game 5, the Colorado Avalanche simply were the better team, and took nearly every opportunity they saw to expose the Minnesota Wild's mistakes. With that said, the Minnesota Wild had a goal disallowed, they hit the cross bar, and there were times that the small things just set them back enough for Colorado to creep in and steal it at the end. This one in going to sting for the Minnesota fanbase, but there were also alot of positives that came out of the series, and the season as a whole. Ryan Carter kicks off the show joined by Kevin Gorg, and is later joined by John King and Joe O'Donnell for a full recap of game 5 in Denver. Give it a listen, and never forget the feeling of the game 3 victory, and ultimately the game 4 and game 5 losses. This is a team right on the doorstep of greatness, but they'll have to wait until next season to show us what they learned.

Game 4 at Grand Casino Arena between the Minnesota Wild and the Colorado Avalanche had a different vibe than game 3 in Saint Paul, and the result was indicative of that. Ryan Carter and John King break down the Minnesota Wild loss on Monday night, but this is a best of 7 series, and it's not over. Wild head to Denver today for a Wednesday night matchup and a do or die game. Joe O'Donnell joins the pod and is already planning for the radio broadcast back home in Saint Paul on Friday night! The guys in the room are going to have to dig deep, but this is squad that is fully capable of doing so. Even after a tough loss in game 4, this still feels different, and the panel today will help get your mind set for Wednesdays game. Get outside and take a few deep breaths, because the Minnesota Wild are in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and there is ALOT of determination to make sure there is ALOT of hockey left to be played! The Wall of Saint Paul is back and was in full effect last night in the Silver City, in front of a full house, and a packed crowd out on West 7th street outside Grand Casino Arena. The Minnesota Wild earn their first home win in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs since 2014. Ryan Carter and John King walked tall into the studio, albeit a bit stinky from the block party shenanigans last night, but no other way to celebrate this win AND all the Mothers on their special day, than to to deliver a recap of game 3. Joe O'Donnell and Kevin Gorg jump-in to give their flowers to the entire fanbase, along with so many key pieces on the ice last night. Happy Mother's Day everyone! Celebrate all the Mom's along with last nights win, but be ready for another tilt tomorrow night!

Round 2 Game 2, and a Rocky Mountain start for the Minnesota Wild.  John King and Ryan Carter are joined in studio by #21, fan favorite rink side reporter Kevin Gorg, for a cinco de mayo celebration that ultimately ended with the Colorado Avalanche taking a series lead 2-0.  Now the Minnesota Wild have a few days to rest, and like our hosts have said in the past, hopefully "rest is a weapon."  Saturdays game in Saint Paul is sure to be an electric atmosphere, and will kick off at 5pm with a block party leading into a watch party on West 7th St.  Come down to Saint Paul whether you have tickets or not, and enjoy a live experience with the hosts of Wild on 7th, the Red Bull DJ truck, beverages, and more.  The Minnesota Wild look to even up the series on home ice, and Grand Casino Arena is going to be rocking.  

With as many people on the panel as goals scored in last nights game, Wild on 7th has a doozy of a recap of game 1 so buckle up. John King and Ryan Carter are joined by great friends of the show, Alex Stalock, Kevin Gorg, and Joe O'Donnell for a rich podcast that will try to make sense of the stat night of last nights round 2 playoff matchup between the Minnesota Wild and the Colorado Avalanche. For the first time in 11 years, the Minnesota Wild have entered the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs! Ryan Carter and John King are joined by Kevin Gorg and Joe O'Donnell to put a bow on the series that sent Jamie Benn to the golf course. After a late night celebrating with fellow staffers, the guys break down the series, the turning points, the biggest goals, and how important this is for the franchise and the fan base. They talk superstitions, power-ponytails, and loose change, all while recognizing that the players have different things in mind, and that's a laser focus on winning the Stanley Cup! This team feels different, and although we've maybe said this in the past, these are writing their own story, so follow along as we go on this Stanley Cup Playoff journey together!

The Minnesota Wild take game 5 in Dallas, and take the series lead as they return to the silver city of Saint Paul for a Thursday night tilt. Kevin Gorg and Joe O'Donnell join King and Carts for a full recap. The guys discuss some superstitions amongst the broadcast team, some power pony tails, and some shiny pocket change, that truly could be the difference makers. Wild with Trenin and Zuccy back in the lineup, played a poised game, and the fan base enjoyed a calm and collected squad that was deep in enemy territory. Game 6 at Grand Casino Arena in Saint Paul is going to be electric. Happy Easter Monday to the Wild on 7th faithful!  We hope you had a wonderful weekend.  Ryan and John are back in the studio this week to recap the latest Minnesota Wild games over their back to back weekend.  The guys pass out bouquets to nearly the entire roster, share their love for Kirill's bangs, Trenin's hits, and Easter ham, but the real star of this weeks show is the zyn Santa himself, #7 Brock Faber.  Brock graciously stopped by the Custom One Club at Grand Casino Arena following team picture day, and shared some laughs with Carts and Kinger.  Thankfully, Brock brought his mustache along for the ride, as all eyes look towards the Stanley Cup Playoffs.  Throw away your trimmer, because the playoffs are almost here!  

When it comes to siblings performing at the highest level, there are none higher on that list than the Wright Brothers...try to keep up here folks....and then a very close second, but with much higher odds of punching you in the face....are the Foligno brothers! Carts and King enter a full house at TRIA Rink this week for an amazing interview with these amazing humans. They run the brothers through rapid fire, they talk leadership, the Gudas fight, and more. There is a void in the State of Hockey that will never be filled, as we remember our colleague and friend Jessi Pierce, who's life, alongside her 3 children and family dog, was cut short in a tragic house fire on March 21st, in White Bear Lake, MN.  We will remember her and her infectious smile, and we will miss her around the rink and in the media scrum.  The game of hockey lost one of its biggest fans, and one of its many voices.  May you rest in peace Jessi, Hudson, Cayden, and Avery.

In support of Jessi and her children, Ryan Carter and John King share some stories and admiration about Jessi, and as she would, continue on to deliver the hockey content you all desire.  The guys spend some time talking about the Dallas Stars matchup over the weekend, and then welcome Minnesota Wild newcomer Michael McCarron to the show, for an awesome interview and the classic rapid fire segment.  

Trade deadline has passed, and the Minnesota Wild have clearly made the biggest splash in the league (that just so happened a month prior to the deadline) with Quinn Hughes. Carts and King connect this week after a flurry of pods surrounding Kirill and Zuccy, the boys high school hockey tournament and the trade deadline, so it's nice to be back in the studio for some good old fashion Wild on 7th banter! King was stuck in transit earlier this week, with a huge spring snow storm wreaking havoc on his travel plans, so we've made a couple pivots and here we are...a Wednesday pod. The guys breakdown a number of milestones happening for Minnesota Wild hockey, give some bouquets to Ryan Hartman, Equipment Manager Tony DeCosta, JoJo, Brodie, Bolds, and the list goes on! When it's all said and done, the main take away is that the Minnesota Wild are a legit team, possibly in the most legit position in franchise history, and the guys have their sights on the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The National Hockey League trade deadline has passed, and The Minnesota Wild have locked their roster for the 25-26 season. With alot of chatter around the league for the last month or so, Billy Guerin has made his deals, and the Wild can exhale and focus on finishing the regular season strong. Ryan Carter is joined by fellow sweet tooth Al Stalock at the Waldorf Astoria in Vegas, as the Wild warmup for tonights battle against the Knights, and Kinger holds it down in Saint Paul, where the Boys State Tourney is in full swing. When The Minnesota Wild are away, the State of Hockey still plays, and the Girls State High School Hockey Tournament kicks off this week at Grand Casino Arena, so Jack Jablonski joins us to weigh in on what to expect from the girls in Saint Paul. Kinger is also away this week, so Carts digs into the girls tourney, and gets Jack's take on what he has seen so far in the Olympics. Look for a boys tourney preview in the near future. The Olympic tournaments are heating up as well, and we will certainly break down these matchups as they come.

The opening ceremonies in Milan-Cortina are complete, and the Winter Olympic Games have begun, and what better way to celebrate the Winter Olympics than to be joined by Dan Brooks, son of 1980 USA Hockey coach Herb Brooks. Find a comfy chair, and maybe a blanket like King would use if he were sitting in Billy G's living room, because this pod has some stories. Listen to the behind the scenes stories from Dan, who at the time was just a 7th grade rink rat running around the olympic facilities, bumping elbows and asking for autographs, while the hockey world was changing right before his eyes. The 2026 Winter Olympics start this week in Milan-Cortina, and the representation from Minnesota is HUGE to say the least. The Minnesota Wild are sending a ton of players and personnel, and the Minnesota Frost and Golden Gophers are getting in on the fun as well. Taylor Heise and Grace Zumwinkle join us this week, before heading to Italy on their quest for Gold. The ladies chat about their Olympic dreams, their teammates Kelly Pannek and Abbey Murphy among others, and how they plan to get comfortable in the Olympic village. Kinger expresses his absolute admiration for all things TEAM USA, starting with the Ralph Lauren gear that every athlete will adorn for opening and closing ceremonies. While the girls discuss the olympic village, game day fits, and preferred candle scents, the dreams of Gold dance in all of our heads. The 2026 Winter Olympics are upon us, and these two-time Walter Cup champions have set their sites on the top of the podium. Nothing celebrates community hockey in Minnesota quite like Hockey Day Minnesota, and Hastings and the local organizing committee there absolutely crushed it. Carts and King dive into the wildly successful event, the jerseys, the layout, the facilities, you name it, it was top notch. As for the Wild game against FLA, the fans were treated to entertaining game, and for the 20th time this season, the Wild pushed the game into extra time. Unfortunately coming up short in OT, because of a much less favorable RAT, the Wild grabbed a point and look to finish the month strong before their Olympic break. Later in the show, we are joined by the GusBus himself, #32 Filip Gustavsson, for some typical Gus insight, that ranges from potty training to video games. This Swedish goaltender talks about his aspirations with team Sweden, his daily fun being a dad with a couple youngsters at home, and how he sneaks in time to join teammates online for some gaming. This week we welcome back Captain of the WAGs Danielle Spurgeon and a new face on the pod, Mama Moose aka Natascia Foligno. The ladies grace us with some amazing insight into their own and their husbands lives, and share some laughs with the guys. Carts and King jump around the league a bit to kick things off. The Minnesota Wild have been playing some pretty great hockey lately, but it wasn't always like that.  There was a time in the fairly recent past that the fans of the Minnesota Wild were mentally in a very different place, however most Minnesotan's don't have a mental performance specialist to lean on.  Yet, regardless of the lows, or the highs, the Minnesota Wild have been quite resilient, and very possibly because of the teachings of their Mental Performance Specialist Aaron Bogosian.  Brother of Defenseman Zach Bogosian, Aaron grew up in a household of brothers, and seemingly was born for this job.  With both a professional hockey background, and military experience, Aaron Bogosian brings a sense of presence and familial support to the Wild lockeroom.  Aaron credits his work ethic and mental toughness to his upbringing, and the fact that we can now help the next generation of young hockey professionals in Minnesota, just might be his true calling.  Carts and King go deep with Bogo, but only as far as one would think when you're in the presence of such selflessness.  A truly interesting interview, and beyond that includes the Olympic rosters that the guys breakdown.  The snubs, the stars, the trivia, it's all here to kick off 2026.  Let's Go.

If you say it three times, does he just arrive like a genie?  Try it.  The Minnesota Wild have acquired Quinn Hughes from the Vancouver Canucks.  It's a fact that many hockey fans are still digesting, but it's real, and it's quite amazing when you really break it down.  To break it down for you, Alex Stalock joins Wild on 7th in-studio this week, John King lands his whale of a bold prediction, Wild Radio Joe O'Donnell talks botany among other things, and Ryan Carter maintains his swagger among all the chaos.  Stalock and O'Donnell were both on the call for Quinn's first game with the Wild, and both provide their unique insight on the historic night.  Carter gives an amazing assessment of Billy Guerin's rationale surrounding the trade, and also chimes in with some amazing stories from his days playing juniors.  Quinn Hughes. Carts is a bit punch drunk on this pod, after a long day of travel and getting stuck on the runway in Winnipeg last night, but still delivered the pod in professional fashion. Mr.1000, Marcus Johansson drops by the pod this week to talk about his newly acquired comma, following his 1,000th NHL game and ceremony.  Carts and King are simply excited to have a new Swede on the show that isn't playing between the pipes.  Marcus talks about his up bringing in Sweden, his extensive NHL experience, World championships experiences, and playing with some of the greatest to play this game. JoJo's style sense also came to light, as he showed off his new kicks and talked about this new venture.  It is an outstanding feat to play 1000 NHL games, and with the number of points JoJo is putting up in the first month and half of the season, it appears he's making a solid case for the Swedish National team and a potential appearance in Milan.  Jojo is on a heater as of late, and we are all for him continuing this pace!  Listen up and get inside the head of our stoic swede, Marcus Johansson.

The Minnesota Wild have been searching for their game, but look like they are getting closer to finding it as of late. What changed you ask? It may have to do with the return of a key ingredient in the peanut butter and jelly sandwich recipe. Carts and King swing by the TRIA studio for a marathon summer vibe check in the State of Hockey.  The guys talk about their summer plans so far, the never ending trolling feed from the Stanley Cup Champions, the NHL Draft, shaking up free agency, and obviously the vibe check since some major Wild pieces are currently without signed deals.  Can King get any sleep when the kids are out for the night?  I think he'll feel much better when Rossi and Kaprizov "make it home safely," and he can relax.  Hope you can enjoy a wonderful summer pod to hold you over until the Minnesota State Fair.  Details to be announced in the coming weeks.

Ryan Carter and John King are joined by the voice of Wild Radio, Joe O'Donnell to break down game 6. The Minnesota Wild have been beaten by the Vegas Golden Knights in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but the reality is, this season felt different. Not only did the team battle through adversity through the entire season and seemed to maintain, if not excel in areas without huge pieces of their team missing, but they entered the playoffs and carried themselves with a bit more experience than we are used to seeing. Give it a listen, and head into the off season with more experience than you had last year, and get ready, because next fall will be here faster than you think.  A season finale will drop next week.

After further review, we'd rather not have any more reviews, but the truth is, we still have a game 6. Ryan Carter hot off the team plane from Vegas, burns into the studio to catch up with John King, and our playoff staple Wild Radio Joe O'Donnell joins us for a quick breakdown of game 5, and then all eyes on game 6. Much like the narrative of the last few podcasts, the guys really lean into the fact that the past is the past, even if we're talking about last night. The series is coming back to the State of Hockey, and Wild Joe Radio has a vision. We might have teased the bingo card for these shows, but this is next level. The relatively quiet Minnesota Wild have remained as such during their early game on Sunday, for likely the last time Sid and Geno face-off against their old pal Flower, but they head into a busy remainder of March here at Xcel Energy Center! In what feels like a series of back to back games at home, the Wild have their work cut out for them as playoffs are looming. Snap into a slimjim this week as you recover from the high school state tourney, and gear up for a bunch more battles at home here in Saint Paul.

The Tourney is on West 7th this week, and all eyes are on Saint Paul as the boys state high school hockey tournament hits the Xcel Energy Center in what is sure to be an electric atmosphere. Carts and King catch up with our favorite Austrian, #23 Marco Rossi, before he catches a plane to Smashville.
