What's up guys? Welcome to the latest edition of the Radcast. It's Friday, August 25th, 23 are weekly marketing and business news of the week joined by my temporary always co-host. Tipperarily always co-host Chris Hansen. What's up Chris temporarily always on call substitute co-host. Put that on of my business cards, please permanently always sometimes. I had that to my LinkedIn profile. Radcast co-hosts sometimes permanently always if it fill in is needed. Exactly coming to us from his previous home Tampa. He's all around Florida folks. He me on me one day Tampa the next. Yes, we stay pushing the vacay lifestyle all over the state of Florida. Exactly. Every day is a vacay for you. That's the reality that everybody has to live with. Yeah, they used to it people. I know it's been a good week. It's been a good week here at our lovely studios in Greenville. South Carolina for sure. We'll reminder South Carolina if you couldn't pick up on the Southern accent. World traveler, but you're from California, bro. California man. I do think you hang 10. I can't even fake a California accent. I don't even know what that is. I know what it sounds like, but I can't get my voice there. But yeah, exactly. So we're hugging the East Coast wherever whenever however you are. We appreciate you listening. We want to bring you, let's be honest, you can get the headlines or they say if it bleeds at leads and all the bullshit that's out there. We try to bring you relevant business and marketing news that can sharpen your marketing knowledge while also put a smile on your face. You say laugh while you learn, Chris. That's what this shows about. There's your marketing line for the day. Laugh while you learn. Live, laugh, love. Yes. I have that on my wall. I know you do. Laugh while you love and learn. That's what I tell my kids, but I don't want them laughing. You need to learn, son. You better not be laughing to me. Anyway, we got to good news today or normal small talk. I thought this was interesting. I did this wasn't on the highlights, but I'm going to mention it because that was interesting. We've had Mark Randolph, the founder of Netflix on the show, but Netflix is finally the DVD side of Netflix is kicking the can finally. They plan to give away DVDs as a service as the service shuts down. They're going to be giving away DVDs. If you need a good coaster in your house, there's a chance. There's still some old folks. My in-laws being some of them that have DVD players in the house. Is it anyone? Yeah, DVD player. Cameron. No, okay. I have friends that have the full albums they invested so heavily in the DVDs like for alphabetize. So I think they're locked in for a while, but I can either that collection. I had the DVD tower like in 2007 stacked up, but I'll tell you what the moment you both with digital music and with digital DVDs once like stuff went online. I was the first. I was like, I hated this shit laying around like in my car, the DVD, the CDs, the DVD tower that never had the right DVD in it because somebody could was too lazy to put the one right back in it or scratch it. So I threw that shit out. I only think I took it and sold it like you could sell them for what $45 a DVD back in the day. I didn't even do that. I pointed that thing right into the dumpster. As soon as I had the option to have digital movies. I would kill for my CD collection back. I don't know. I don't remember the day I got rid of it. I don't know if I ever did. But some of those old burn CD makes tapes on me. Oh, dude. I was that kid with the the Dave Matz used band. I have a I still have it. It's the only thing I have hard media of still is like a binder with probably 300 day Matthew CDs like burned like epic. I haven't I need to pull that out sometime. I don't even have a DVD player. I would like to play that. I don't know. Maybe a computer to have a disk drive anymore. I'm an old car. Yeah. I don't know. I know. Actually, I think my boat has a DVD player like that may not work anymore. Who knows? Anyway. Netflix is giving away the DVDs. You can't even sell them anymore. They're giving them away. I think they're doing all right on the streaming side of things. My bill goes up every month. That's all I know. $22. Oh, wait. What's this? $9 like two years ago. Like it was $8.99 or something. Now I'm like, what's $23 Netflix? What? Or whatever it is. It's not $8 anymore. That's all I know. So they're getting their money one way or another. They can give away free DVDs. They'd have to give it a lot of way a lot of shit. Pal Coke is using AI to make ads with artists through its real magic creative academy beverage giant convenes digital artists and companies focused on tech and fashion to help create future ads. This comes to us via our good friends at ad age. Coke using AI to make ads. I mean, everybody's using AI to make everything, right? It's all about AI recipes. And this to me sounds like is this base here like an unpaid internship, creating ads for them. Yeah, thanks. Yeah, they're like, hey, how do they not pay it any more? Open it up to the public and congrats. Exactly. They pay them 40 bucks instead of 4,000 or needs to be four million. Yeah. So they get their ads made through its real magic creative academy. I'm all for braiding, but sometimes these things just sound like they're talking to themselves. I was going to say the same thing that who came up with real magic creative their tagline now is real magic, which I pay on about two years ago when it first came out. Cokes doesn't doesn't resonate for me. It sounds too disney issue. Yeah, I like fake magic better myself, but I don't want real magic. That means it's kind of scary. I don't want to go wizard. Tell me it was fake afterwards. Exactly. Yeah, I don't know. No, I always thought it's complicated anyway. I've already paying that a few times. That's what coke never calls us to work with us. Even I do drink their products. I spent a lot of money on their Coke zero products. The other coke's cherry zero. So if you haven't had that coke cherry zero, I highly recommend it. It's hard to find because my wife's buying it everywhere. So it's one thing I might be addicted to is cherry coke zero. It's pretty good. It's really good with the crown. That water is pretty good. It's got whiskey in it. Yeah, exactly. It's a social media news. Apple podcasts gain new creator tools, including subscription analytics and link fire integration. It's about time. Apple was long several new podcast creator tools, including subscription analytics. This will give past podcasters access to a dashboard where they can track their key metrics around subscriptions. Apple is also integrating its podcast analytics into the marketing platform link fire for easy access and to measure engagement with smart links and landing pages. I like this. This is probably where podcasting is the most behind. I've got the analytics from our service fighter and who distributes everything and it's pretty detailed, but tracking it back to sales and getting delay. This is where it needs to be getting to. So yeah, anything that supports that because you got sponsors get real dollars being spent now and you got to be able to show at least the traffic you're driving from it. Even if it didn't get down to like purchase level, don't know through using like codes and things like that. It seems like this should have been available already. Yeah, to be honest with how much business is being done via podcast. Exactly. It does seem behind with how the podcast thing didn't just happen two years. It's been like a six year burn here. Like the radcast started. Our numbers like slowly it took slow train and then it picked up steam, but they should have some of these tools integrated already and I'm almost surprised the brands haven't mandated more the way they've done TV digital and all that stuff. If you didn't already listen, you need to go back hit the back button and go listen to our episode this week with Cory camp founder forever athlete. Great episode. If you've ever played a sport and you know what it's like to wind down from that routine from the high of playing at the highest level. Cory was really great, really down to earth and doing a lot of great things in Texas with forever athlete. He's there like the only Austin, the tech hub of everything now. He's in Austin. It is, but Cory was great. So check that out if you didn't already next week. You want to learn how to get leads. You want to learn how to sell. Tanner Chitester was on founder of CEOs, forever CEOs. Was it CEOs? Elite CEOs. Thank you, Cameron. Tanner was great. He does consulting. He started doing consulting for personal trainers. Then he dealt with the whole lead system and a whole process for people to start coaching and doing things online. There's a lot of people doing this, but I really liked Tanner's approach and down to earth guy. We got him to open up. It's about the last 15 minutes. So we got the good juicy stuff. So listen to that on Tuesday. We're recording like five or six episodes this week. So we'll be eating up folks. My voice will be heating up as we record two more this afternoon. Got a big recording day, Chris. Big day, baby. Big day. It's always a big day for VK official sponsor or the rad cast. I got to admit some people at the office may have tried some of the mushroom gummies and the feedback was a plus. One of those people might be in the podcast studio with me. Sawyer, our producer. Yes, gave good feedback. He had a little half of the mushroom gummy and felt pleasant, felt nice. Felt a little mood boost. I say in that right, saw your mood boost. Little giggles a little eye. If you don't want giggles, don't take one. Who doesn't want giggles? Yes, our new mood boosting mushrooms. Go to take a vacay.com V.A.Y.C.A.Y. The only way to spell vacay. Take a vacay.com. Look for the mushroom gummies right there on the homepage. I also got links to our podcast, the vacay podcast, where we talk all things alternative wellness at a great episode this week on sleep. Getting enough sleep. I actually listened to that back while I was working out this morning. It just gives a little critique and I was like, I feel like I learned something listening to us. If you're not learning from yourself, who can you learn from? You're like, oh, I said that. Wow, that sounds so intelligent. Yeah, exactly. So the VK Mount Advice. Yes, the VK podcast, alternative wellness is very different than the rad cast. We're talking all things. How to get ahead biohacking, alternative supplements, sleep. Just have to get ahead and using natural products, natural solutions for getting the best out of yourself. So go take a listen to that. And as always, go check out VK for your alternative plant-based premium supplements. I got some news here on YouTube. They're working on plans to compensate artists and rights holders for AI music. YouTube announced the plan. It's a mouthful. YouTube announced a plan to tackle the impact of AI technology on the music industry with its new music AI incubator. Three words I enjoy. The program will involve collaboration with Universal Music Group's diverse roster of talent, including songwriters, producers, and composers. Signalling it by YouTube that rights holders need to be compensated for work, ingested to train AI models, and reused to create new art without permission. So this is interesting. So essentially, all this, this is always my argument. That's where I had the same discussion like two years ago. I don't remember when. I can't remember now. I said, something's training these AI models. Like whether it's knowledge or whether it's like if they read a book, it'd be called plagiarism if you or I did it. But now it's just AI. AI is teaching us how to do things, giving us new ways to say the same shit. It's called plagiarism. So now at least they're figuring out ways for music. If they're, if you're going to feed them some original art, original composed work, even if it comes up with something different, it is interesting. And I know everything is learned from something else, but it's a really slippery slope. So it's good that it looks. Like from the way I'm reading this with the recent content ID like systems, I think this is an implementation of like blockchain, blockchain to track this. Yeah, technology. Yeah. Finally using it for something besides Bitcoin. Yeah. Some real life application people. I know exactly. This is the future of blockchain. I told you. Yeah. It's bigger than Bitcoin. Okay guys. So much bigger. It's true. And power it is. Hopefully this means it is with this initiative, YouTube aims to support artists, songwriters, producers, and the industry as a whole while driving value for fans. Yeah, I'm sure that latter part is true. It says CEO Neil Mohan and his announcement. I think if it supports the artist, great. I don't know that it's driving value for the fans. It's more. Okay, let's. The reason RSC to be paid and supported for the work that they create. And this is a good step in the right direction. I still wonder where all this is going to go with, you know, the AI plagiarism. Okay, at what point is everything sounding the same? That too. And that's a whole other topic. Like I've started reading blog posts now and I'm like, that's a robot. Are we going to have famous artists that really had some coder behind the scenes? Yeah. That is a tech guy. But he's making programming beautiful music. I'm not so sure that some of these big creators, like Alex Rose, you know, there's artists eventually going to build an AI themselves. So they're not even, they're like on an island somewhere. And it's taught it to look, act, feel like you. Yeah. That's scary, but that seems like a reality. I think we're headed faster than we think to Westworld. If you ever watched that. Yeah. TV show. When it first came out, I'm like, who's that ever happened? We're not going to be able to create a robot. Right. And then suddenly, Elon's talking Neuralink and you're like, all right, brain implant chips. Yeah, we're doomed. We're headed in that direction, 100%. I don't know. That's why even Elon Musk is, I think we need to slow down to get some regulation. So if Elon Musk is saying that, we should be scared. And he knows more than we do. Or he's saying some shit because he's like, you know, it's at robots, like suddenly, like mimicking him or something. He went to a demo and he's, oh, shit. All right, guys. We need to slow down. I better announce on Twitter, we need to slow down AI because I just saw some crazy shit. Exactly. Right. So I'm glad YouTube seems to be doing the right thing, but we might have bigger fish to fry once it's all said and done. TikTok downloads brands buy ads that appear in the apps search results. I like this. And let me tell you, this is what's called paper click. All right. Here's your marketing lesson or refresher. The holy grail of marketing is knowing when a buyer has intent to buy something. That's why paper click Google ads are like the most popular, expensive thing. Because you are raising your hand saying, I need a lawyer today. I wrecked my car. So they're ready to buy. They're ready to buy a lawyer. So when they go search in the search results, that's a high intent, a high value potential customer. That's not just, oh, I'm doing my research. I'm going to buy it. It's a hot lead. Yeah, it's a hot lead. I'm not, I'm not just search. I'm in month one of 12 searching for a car. Just, oh, does, does this get good gas mileage? That's not a high intent today purchase. But so when you can get ads in the search bar, so you for TikTok. So I go and I search and I'm like natural recipes. And one of the helmets can show up because mayonnaise is so natural. And they're great example. But they're going to run ads there. They're natural olive oil based helmets. Sure. We'll be right there at the top. But you got a high intent searcher because they're ready for that recipe. And your product is there to serve that need. So this is great. And I'm all for it because this is going to make the platform better to buy from and more impactful. Early testing of the new product has seen positive results, results, including a 441% increase in conversion rate. And a 7.4% lift. That's what I'm talking about people. That's high intent buyers because they're searching for what they might be buying. And you show them an ad while they're at the bottom of the funnel. That's where you get them. It's called that mouse. They're right at the cheese. They're ready to bite that cheese. And instead of. And then. Yeah. Got a good example bag. I'm not really trying to kill them. We're trying to feed them more cheese. We're nicotine. We want to track you so they want to come back. Yes, but this is great. More is a digital agency. I'm here for anything that drives better results for digital ads and. ROI for the brands that we work with. Threads has launched its highly anticipated web app. Hyperbole at its best who. Who's been waiting at home going? I can't wait to that web app comes out for threat. I can't wait to get on my Mac booking to the thread. Said no one ever. For this long. Yeah. There's a meme for this camera. That's what you mean for me. It's me going your pretending whatever that would insinuate no one. I think there's like a template for that said no one ever. Instagram Threads is launching its highly anticipated web app today. Like users to post and interact with posts from a desktop. Post search capabilities are still missing on the app and website, which means tracking news and trends cannot be done yet on threads. How about you get that thing out on it? Yeah. Just to keep dropping of new announcement. Yeah, exactly. Search capabilities. Yes. When you can search, just make sure you search for the radcast that Ryan offered because I'm over there on threads. I'm giving them a lot of posts at least two or three times a week. There's something cynical. Actually, it's pretty good. Threads was supposed to be the positive platform as opposed to Twitter. Yeah. You are just threatening lightly. Stopping your cynical. I'm threatening lightly. But yeah, I don't know who's waiting on this. I think people might be waiting for the search feature to track news and trends. But I don't know who's waiting on the web app. If you were really sitting there really wanting to write tweets on the laptop, other journalists may be on that. But I guess if you're any cubicle trying to hide from your boss that you're on your cell phone maybe. Yeah. You have this thing like what people walk by and set up showing the like database. You know, the button you push like to bring your work up when you're shopping. Yeah. Again, just bring up threads. The thread app. Yeah. Because that'll mean you're really working. Yeah. We have some social media holidays. Just one shared. We don't quite understand why it's shared, but it's shared, including these show notes. And these show notes are like gold and the truth and the Bible. So we know they're true. The National Dog Day is August 26th. And not to be outdone is National Women's Equality Day. I don't find this funny. I only find it funny because that should not happen. But I guess you don't have to be sharing the day. That's where the Women's Equality Day needs to be on like a Monday, Saturday. So that's all I got to say about that. But one way or another, we need more equality. And we need to love our dogs. So we can both get behind both of these. That's the bottom line of the day. Yeah. I'm not going to let my kids know it's National Dog Day though. Yeah. They beat me up over them. We don't have a dog. And I refuse to get a dog. Yeah. I told them it's Dog Day. They were just trying to make me feel bad. And I won't. I act like a man. I'm so sorry. Not really. We have something to go on under the shelter. Yeah. Like I will be keeping that dog. It will be by dog because their school. Nicole has no flexibility as a principal. That dog's going to be chasing me around. I'm going to have to walk it everywhere or take it out. Let's be shit everywhere. It's going to be a studio dog. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That would be great right here. That's essentially what would happen. Exactly. Yeah. Yeah. It's like my dog. And she has to take a home. We'll let it. Let her keep the dog. When you want a dog. Oh yeah. She's down. We're going to slowly start turning the camera on because she's got a good podcast voice. We're going to that'll be a teaser for you guys. Up. Get everybody can hear it. There you go. There's camera. We'll get more to check next week. On to the next of the show notes. I'm going to turn the page here. See Mondavi and family launches. Avionna wine collection with AR labels. The Avionna collection features three wines. Is my show notes blow off. Designed to celebrate strength, adventure and integrity. Shoppers. Age 21 plus. Gotta make that clear. Can scan the QR code on each bottle's label to load an augmented reality experience. And which the character on the front of the bottle comes to life and speaks. Cool. Cool. Down for it. If that wine better tastes good though. You know. I mean, what's your AR really with us? But I like the use. It could be fun, especially if you're the store. Especially it could give you like a little bit more in depth description of the wine or like a pairing or something. Like a little educational on this specific wine, you know. Exactly. That's commercial because you bought your phone up and you'd be like. Left them up. That's not fine. So you bring it up and you're watching this in the episode. So you can you put it on those labels. So you're looking through your phone at the bottle and that comes to life. What would be really cool is that they use your phone data to personalize it. Hey, Chris. Like the woman or whoever it is. Like if they could figure that out. Think with AI they could call me if you want to make this experience a little better. Mondavi. Yeah. Hey, Chris. Looking at your search feed and all the history of your life. We see that you like red wine or whatever. Whatever you'd be willing to give them. Give them your name. You give them your name. So that she talked to you, assuming it's a she. Whatever the character is on the front. I guess it could be like something mythical creature. Like the wine bottles get pretty. Talking great. Yeah. This is a cool way if you're a brand that you've got an in-store experience. This is where AR can be interesting. I still think we're in the early phases of this type of stuff coming alive. We certainly all check our phones like reviews and different things. But how can you improve the in-store experience, the product experience through technology? It seems like a good way to do it. I think they're ahead of the game. Yeah. Like it feels like we went down this road a little bit like seven or eight years ago. And it was average at best the experiences. Or it took too long or you had to download an app. Yeah. But if they can make it seamless, just like bringing it like two clicks or something. That's what it always is. It's the friction to get to some of these experiences. Because like you're walking down the aisle. You see the bottle. I got a download an app. I got to give my blood. Okay. I'm out. Like I'm not doing this. If you can just hold your phone up. Same thing with your code. It's just two clicks. Okay. I'll do that. Yeah. But anyway, we'll see. Mandavi one of the largest winemakers in the world. Can afford to be integrated. So these things. A lot of the winemakers don't have the money. This is fairly to do this. Mandavi does. So we'll see how it goes. And hopefully that wine tastes good. The aviana wine collection. Cold ones. A new non-alcoholic beer till drinkers. To enjoy responsibly. Irresponsibly. It's even funer. I like this much better that it says that. I thought it said. I read it too fast in the show notes. Enjoy response. Enjoy your responsibly. I get it. Very good. Clever. Wonderment. Good agency. No wonder. That's where you get big ideas. People. Work for the brand. Ames to embrace all the fun of drinking with none of the alcohol. Stigma around non-alcoholic beer. And abstaining from alcohol in general is that it's less fun. But now a new non-alcoholic beer is suggesting the opposite by cleverly inverting one of alcohol's beer signature phrase. One of its signature phrase. It's clever. And being one that doesn't drink alcohol, you still have fun. I still have a great time. The whole non-alcoholic beer thing. Just like I don't see myself every man. I really want to just go have a beer. If I like don't be wrong, there's times it's hot out or something and you're like. You can't wait to pound. I don't know tools. I'd rather pound a fucking ice cold Coca-Cola. Exactly. I'd be the same way. I do drink beer. I like it. But if I didn't drink alcohol, I'd be wanting like, I don't know, like a slush puppy or something. Yeah. I know I have buddies that definitely do have some non-alcoholic beers. But even on health wise, I'm like, is it worth what it's a carb count in it? Yeah. It's a mild. It's a mild detail. It's so funny. Like though that health trend. Oh. Yeah. That just used to be the other drinks on the menu. Oh. The cherry lemonade is now a mocktail. I'm like, okay. Yeah, sure. It'll be like, no, but we put like some grenadine in it. So it's a surely template. Yeah. It'll just splash the spritzer in it. That's just right. Oh. The mocktails I was growing up at the church with all the drinks. You put a little bit of each one in. Oh, yeah. I had an inappropriate name that I won't call it. But that was a mocktail. But I love the enjoy your response. I think that's clear. Enjoy your responsibly. Maybe you can drink the hell out of those things and it not really matter. It won't feel like anything. Just bloated. It might be more filling. It won't be less filling. I'm interested. Yeah. There we go. I like it. It's fun. Cold ones. I even like the name. There you have it. Yeah. It's a great name. It's closing out today. We really wanted to hit.
