Hey guys, what's up? Welcome to the latest edition of the Radcast here is the Radcast news. It's Friday, July 1st already July, July it is. Where is the year going?
Welcome to our weekly marketing and advertising news edition. I'm Ryan offered your host joined by Miss
Um, yeah, definitely definitely not Mrs
Just make sure you to get married since last week
No, not that I know of not that I know of yes
He didn't do it your lope no, no, I'm not above it, but
Any of your stallions out there
Swoop up co-host Yasi over just know my cat comes with me. Oh boy
Yikes, that might have killed all of it. There's an appropriate joke in me, but I won't I won't do it. Yes
I'm gonna stay away from it. How is your week been? It's been good on vacation. Yeah for a couple days
It was good. We were down to Lake good extended weekend. We did this a little
Through Monday Tuesday location. It was good Nicole's out for a few weeks from the job
And so we got away with the kids and
Just uh, liked it up. Yeah, it was nice. The weather was nice. It was
Sunny and warm, but not quite as stifling. Yeah, it's been the last few weeks. Yeah, it was more tolerable tolerable
And uh, had a few cold beverages and uh, you know hung out on the water. He did back. Yeah good stuff. Nothing uh, did you
Celebrate iPhone turning 15? Uh, you know, I did by taking some pictures and some stories on Instagram
So uh, yes, I did and uh, I celebrated because we went we did go play
A little miniature golf at a place called oasis. It was quite the oasis and uh
Proceeded to almost get uh, taken down by my sons uh, we officially tied at the end. Daddy came back
Do you go easy on them or do you like every man from? I mean, I'm not
I take like I'll take a couple whole series and like you know, like really and then I kind of lose focus, but
 They're uh
You know, they've gotten better. Let's just say that. I got you
And I'm not playing with golf anymore. So my putting strikes like the first thing to go. Sure
So uh, it's quite the struggle just uh, my dad would never go. He would ever ever ever
Generally speaking to colonize our hyper competitive and we do not go easy on me. Totally
So um, I don't let them win
But they're getting old enough big enough and coordinated enough that
You gotta fight for it a little bit. I gotta fight a little harder
There it is just to hang in there, but yes, iPhone did turn 15 and it makes me feel both
Having worked on the original iPhone launch
 Back in the day
It makes me feel both old and uh, I don't know
The nostalgic yeah, the nostalgic nostalgic nostalgic
It was uh, quite the iconic device and it still is yeah, you know, it's taken over the world
Taken over the world where you have always an iPhone person like when she's
From this time I've had from the time I've had one. I bought. Yeah, you want a blackberry person
No, I don't know how old I was when I when blackberries came out like I didn't have a cell phone when blackberries came
But my grandmother got one and I thought she exactly I thought my grandmother was so cool
I had nipod touch. I had an ipod touch with my
 NV3 was my first self
 The NV3
 I worked on that
I thought it was so cool, but they were all too chocolate did you have a chocolate? No, I had the I had the steel blue
 Okay
And then I and I had the red ones how about the motor roller razor?
No, I always wanted one I didn't get one. I wanted the pink one so badly. I was probably on the first
And then I had I had an LG extrovert the LG extrovert was last one I had before I got a little bit of a
Bobo phone. I hated it with a little sliding. Yes, my mom had it. I found it my mom had a juke
Did you work on the juke? Oh, yes, I
Absolutely bringing like bring the first music device. I can't be three. Oh, yeah, it would just like
 Yep
The juke I worked on all these that's so cool all these everybody can't paint the
 iconic campaigns
And then the Motorola droid that was fun. Oh, yeah a little dark a little different is when
Motorola and Google took a little stab probably that found it shipped into a way for about a year. Yeah, campaign was good
And then the iPhone proceeded if I had been of cell phone carrying age
I would have gotten a droid because I loved the advertisements. They like I remember them
 droid
Oh, yeah, yeah, everything I phone can't droid can't yeah
droid does that was the campaign there that yes, it was I was literally in the room when we were
Concepting these campaigns. That's right. It was cool
It brings back a lot of emberies and
Yeah, lots changed in the you know a lot changed in like an eight-year
 period there from like
2007-ish which is when the iPhone launched to like
Maybe 2015 yeah a lot of iteration a lot of innovation in the phones. Yeah last seven years
There heavily hasn't been that much innovation do you think that in the devices a lot of it has not a lot of it
But I with Apple specifically I think a lot has changed since Steve Jobs passed. Would you agree with that?
 I think a lot's changed and I think
We found the core identity of what the phone is good for sure
You know, many must people said why would I ever use a phone to take pictures like okay, but pictures music
 um
Communication and the social media apps and and things texting yeah like and that's why the iterations have been better performance of the cameras and certain
You know audio and different things like that but more storage but the but the actual like
Look feel and other like large features is having changed that much because it just hasn't been
Anything kind of change. I mean, you know samsung's tried to push the envelopes with the larger screens the folding phones
The folding stuff was just pretty interesting. I'm not sure
It's found. It's quite use case. Yeah niche, you know, yeah, but uh still brings back a lot of memories and so be interesting to see where it goes
Yeah, I think the next iteration is like maybe holograms or something or like I don't know like right like the Star Wars thing
I don't know like if you can beam yourself like we're talking to someone and like somehow they
Create an augmented reality with you there. I don't right. I think that might be our be the next uh
The next generation. Yeah, we'll have the metaverse on our phones. Yes, we'll see. Yeah, what was your phone? Just uh
 Cool phone Nick
First cool phone. It was like a samsung slide up side the keyboard. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Sorry. No
I want to get rid of the keyboards because it's texting right T9 word back. Oh, yeah. I remember that
Yes, uh iconic iPhone turned 15. Yes, and uh a little bit of downer news. Yeah, our kelly got sentenced to 30 years
As well. He should. Yes, he should
 He's quite the uh
Not good person both for a lot of reasons, but uh
What a mess. Yeah, quite the mess. But hey, the justice system came through on that one and did
Um no more singing for him except in the shower
 Ha ha ha ha again
A joke we won't make a joke we won't make and I'm sorry
 Um
We have some tiktok updates for the fails. Yes, yes, we do the listeners viewers at home. Yes
 Um
These are new new stats that released this week
57% of tiktok users are female or female identifying 43% are between the ages of 18 to 24
And I'll call out that 50% or over 30
So before you go all I know it was just younger people. Nope. It's not
And that's still you know, I mean 18 that's still an adult, you know, it's not a of kid app little children's app
 Um, it's not like webkins
 God, I love webkins
3.4% are over the age of 55 and 3.4 is not sound like a lot, but that's 34 million people on this app
That's just how staggering the numbers are over the age of 55. Yep. Like this is this is for everybody and it's here to stay
Users currently spend an average of 52 minutes a day on it. I spend way more than that is
That was a shocker to me almost an hour on the the app at day
And 90 this is what was interesting to me is 90% of them visit the app more than once like it's not just you know
At one time and the average session lasts 11 minutes
Which is enough time to watch 26 videos that are about, you know, 25 seconds each
Too big to ignore folks a lot of attention is being spent on tiktok as you can see the data is going up
It's interesting to track these numbers like you know month over a month. Yeah, you might be here, but 11 minutes per session
Just constantly consuming an hour a day and that's going to be rising
Damn, our day people waste it's a lot of damn time, you know
I love tiktok so much. I mean, you know
Everybody's to have their downtown. I guess you you know, it's just taking over where they're watching
You know, it was TV before right and now
You know that that's eroding it TV time
Facebook, you know, I can take away by an air fryer like I will go home and like look up air fryer recipes on tiktok
One of those people now tiktok made me buy it. Is there in their hashtag? Yeah, what's tiktok make you buy Nick?
Nothing yet. Nothing. Yeah, you should get an air fryer. My life has changed. Is it bet? Do you like an air fryer? I love it
Okay, I love a lot of it because like my oven frightens me like I think that something's wrong with it
It smokes. I've had it. I've had my people into fix it like at my apartment and it's still just
It might explode. It might explode
So the air fryer has been good
You like air frying. Yeah, it's good. Yeah, I've never sweet potatoes in there exactly the taste like a fryer
Yeah, is it crunchy? Yes, like you do french fries and they're crunchy. Mm-hmm come on man
Come on. Oh, yeah, I don't believe when I see I'm telling you all right. It's worth it. You need to get air fryer sponsor
You know challenge accepted air fryer brought to you by the radcast. Oh

That they'll they'll actually be interested in
Casey Webb host of man versus food
It's been on the food channel rest travel channel. I think it's technically a traveled channel entity now
But uh, food network and Casey was awesome and really down her nice guy
had a blast talking with him and
Might be more to come with old Casey Webb and the radical folk but
More on that, but you need to listen Casey was great talking about just
His professional journey, but then of course just the ins and outs of the show, which was fascinating to learn about
My kids nice one of the like this shows there's so many there's so few
In case now I talked about how little
Televisionaries that you feel like you're comfortable watching with your kids. Yeah, like and yeah
That's a we enjoy it because it's just talking about food. He talks about different foods
How it gets made, but then there's always the in challenge
How much food can Casey consumer how hot the food is yeah, he is and uh, he can eat some hot stuff. Geez
That might stay what you think about
Where to get to that a little bit a little bit the meat sweats
You know you're had the meat sweats uh Nick
 No comment
Yeah, I don't know if I've eaten up. I mean, I don't know I eat a lot of steak and
 You know, I don't know. I don't
I've heard that term and it's like I'm hot eating. Yeah, no meat. I don't I get hot eating spicy food
I did watch an episode where Casey ate like a 49 it he ate the whole thing 49 ounce
Like some kind of Tomahawk or something. That's a lot of damn meat. He's the whole thing
In 30 minutes or less and he did it. Oh, no, I would be
I kind of got the meat sweats watching
But uh, yes, uh turn to tune in next Tuesday

Don't go post along. We appreciate our postal workers. Yeah. Is that going postal? Is that or is that a bad thing?
I don't think it it's not bad yet. Yeah in a couple years this episode could be canceled
Yeah, no national postal worker day
You know, I'm gonna go buy some stamps. There you go. I need to make it to post office. I do love writing letters to people
That was the only fun part about my brother being in basic training was writing letters. Yeah
 Um tomorrow UFO day
 Yes, you a
 U.A.P
 Unidentified Ariel
 Norman yeah
Yeah, you want to come you want to see some UAP and it come to my house before kids. There's lots of UAP flying everywhere
You never know what kind of UAP you never know what it is. It is very unidentified. Yeah
But yeah, do you believe in UFOs?
There's something out there. I mean
Not like in aliens. I don't I don't believe in like extra terrestrial. I think that there's things we can't explain
Nick you think there's some UFOs out there watching over us
Depends on what you mean by UFO like aliens. There's aliens and flying saucers. Could be
 Sounds pretty definitive there Nick
 I think it's probably man-made. Yeah, I don't know
 I it's like
I guess I'm just like a blue when I see it guy like I see the stuff online and I don't believe anything
Most of what I watch online with deep fakes everything else like if I see a fucking alien walk by or
Lie over me. I will be the first to tell you when I see it
But I haven't seen that I believe in like ghost in house. I've never seen a ghost see
I believe in like ghosts and paranormal activity and demons and all that stuff
Right, but I don't believe in aliens
 Yeah
I don't discredit anyone that wants to tell me they've seen it, but I kind of need to see it
Yeah, you know, and I've been some spooky places. I'm gonna have yeah, I've been freaked out
My mind is convinced me that maybe
Something was going on, but in truth was there anything in front of me that I ever see anything that actually everything
No, my mind tricked me into just being fear right you know having fear sure but you know, I don't know
Show me I got a show me baby show me the money
 Show me the UFOs
We'll see and I you know, I'm gonna celebrate July 6th with my wife international kissing day. There you go
You know, that's we precious. That's on Wednesday
Next Wednesday don't forget kiss the kiss those that you love or that you don't love, you know
 The world more well
Yeah, don't need any more mono, but we more you know more love more kissing
Uh, and then because it happens before our next episode July 7th world chocolate day world chocolate, and how can you not celebrate world chocolate day?
I like some chocolate. Who doesn't like chocolate look? I I let you're allergic or something like a dog saying
Yeah, I like but dark chocolate. No
 Absolutely not
Oh, I'm devastated. Bitter. Seven two percent or higher bitter dark chocolate unless there's caramel in the milk chocolate
I need some milk in that thing. Do you know I'm talking about Nick you with me milk chocolate?
No, it's a dark chocolate guy
I knew it like your black coffee too on the same page with that
No, but look, I'll like I'm not gonna discriminate against chocolate. I'll leave it right here
I'm fired next week. It's like 15 is longer on the
Here because of all the opinions we don't like you do a dark chocolate. I get in
 That's where dark chocolate belongs
 That's where it goes
But that's how we got for holidays
 Oh
 Trends in the metaverse
We're just gonna get straight in here. I've got to leave that behind as fast as possible
And I gotta go find a milk chocolate bar somewhere to feed my face
 Dark chocolate
What we got here? So Mark Zuckerberg expects billions with a bee of people to use the metaverse generating massive revenue for meta
This man and his money the Facebook co-founder explained that he expects the metaverse to be massive and become a major part of his company's business over the next decade
He said and I quote this is Mark Zuckerberg
We are at this point, you know a company that can afford to make some big long-term research investments
And this is a big focus
So to me Facebook meta is just pouring tons of money. I mean he changed his net like what else is a guy that changed the name of his business
To meta gonna say about the metaverse and I'm torn between like this is the next thing or this is just his
I just started a car. I just opened a car dealership
 selling cars is the future
 Of the world
It better be and I think it is gonna be a big part of it. It's it's it's the evolution of gaming and
Kind of the world and shopping and I get it's the it's happening
Like yeah, it's a little self-self serving to a degree and you know
He added I sorry put this by utilities to be able to be more productive in virtual and augmented reality
So you're gonna buy apps on top of being in the app, you know in a way spend spend spend yeah
So we'll say it's obviously coming yeah
 and
My kids again like I've said they do care what their avatars are wearing so it's
Clearly gonna matter more as we move along to it and to a specific demographic as well
And I but you know like it still it feels to me like this
dystopian world though where no one's gonna leave their house
 Uh-huh. It's a little it's a little scary. It's a little bit scary. That's where that's where this feels like it's headed like right
Where you know everything outside of the house. I mean just inside you're in
The faux world. Yeah, you know, I guess it's a real world if you think it is
But it still feels very like disconnected and dehumanizing. Yes to an extent. I think that's where
The issues are gonna come or like is the dehumanizing de personalizing like
Out of body experience out of touch with reality
You're not out of touch. You're just in a different one which is
Concerning to me as well or could be potentially. Yeah
Um, so we'll see. I thought this was interesting
 A serial entrepreneur
Anyway, you're not gonna know his name and I'm gonna say it. He's predictions. It'll be in the show notes. Yeah in the show notes
Predictions for the metaverse in 2030. It's a 2030. We're still in a few years away. Yeah
The next phase of my verse will be fidgetal
 Get fidget. Oh
You don't you don't pay to listen to the show if you did you know you I have to pay you to listen to my singing
 Combine the physical and digital
 Okay, that's that's fidgetal
I had to google that to make sure I was like surely it's not that pedantic. Yeah, but it is you remember that song. No, you know
Oh, you don't let's get physical physical look it up and what added or like while I'm talking right now
Uh, the metaverse will revamp the education system. I can see this. Yeah, I can actually see this
 happening
If you tell me I'm in grad school and not have to leave the state. That's amazing. You've got online schooling already happening right so it sucks
 if
If kids can stay home and be in some type of
 hybrid
Environment yeah, that's a little more like this makes sense to me right more tactile than just you know e learning
Yeah on some level and then have a social aspect
I can even see you go into a campus and having these experiences and then the social aspect being
Because you still got to be able to have rage and parties. You know, so like
I still don't get that, but you can't you know have ragers in the metaverse or
Jones, but you know it just depends on ready to school. I'm gonna I'm gonna trademark right now
PJ in the metaverse and the bathtub that you make it in and some meta fruit
 Oh
 Okay, medic medic egg
 Keg a verse
The workforce will move to the metaverse. Okay, I can see this a little bit
certain things. Yeah, and then digital properties will have a greater impact on GDP
Well, I mean if bar combining the last two articles if
 What mark Zuckerberg
Hopes happens right right there isn't of money to make sure it does have right in the resources. Yeah
As more people and more money is spent in these digital properties. It is gonna have an impact on GDP
If but it will be it still
Is it in replacement of spending that's already happening or is it in addition right right? Is it in yeah exactly so we'll see
Uh, where it goes, but I think again, these some of these make sense and I think that's where some of this what
These practical use cases will start to unfold sure and it might happen in a more meaningful way than just
And sooner than we think you know t-shirt drops and right and games in fts real blocks. They're only every corner
McDonald's meanwhile is staking out a virtual camp in their mobile app
McDonald's this month is bringing a virtual camp experience that features a variety of deals
Menu hacks and other programming exclusively to its mobile app
Uh, the virtual camp experience is another indication that the fast food chain views its mobile app as a linchpin to winning the hearts of Gen Z
This is a huge effort for them
I think this is fun. Yeah, you know um
Do you use the tunnels app? Do we McDonald's? No, I don't um I
I say my kids there. Yeah, every now like they'd like to go every week every day
We go probably once twice a month. Sure
 um
We tend to go to Wendy's or
Something. Yeah, Chick-fil-A. Yeah, and I will say this we used to do I used to do hotcake Friday with my two middle boys
Uh, and they've kind of grew it out of it a little bit and then we had the pandemic which kind of shut it out. We've literally done
 Because I have them
 um
Every Friday morning. I was taking them to school and we did like a hundred and
 28
Fridays in a row something like oh special in grade school. Yeah, that's really cool
That's really cool. Every uh, it was hotcake Friday, but you never used the app
 No
Pre-pandemic and I know they had the app that they have for a while, but uh, we never use the app. I yeah
I don't have it. I'm not a big McDonald's person. I have the Chick-fil-A app, but I never like I never use it
I have a Chick-fil-A app. I have like a Zaxby's app. I never use them. Um, few of the places we regular
 Panera
Yeah, I think I do have the panera now. I use my Starbucks app way more than I want anyone to know
I think everyone does so as we'll say this as we've graduated from McDonald's we do go to Starbucks now and when we sit there
 um
The number of people that have ordered on the app like my 12 year old goes. Yep
Dad, I think we need to open a Starbucks like we will because he sees the number of people coming in
 I love it. Little entrepreneurs
Like you said when people are coming in out of here and like now it's like running joke like how many people come in and out of that place
It's a mobile and we see the same people because like we go we can go there between there and like panero like the last this past year
 sure and
Probably went to starts 20 times on Fridays and
Uh, you see 85% of the people are the same. They're coming in out. Oh, yeah. No, they know me at my my Starbucks
I know my cat too. I've brought him like in the drive-through just getting out of the house. Yeah, like a dog
But back to the virtual camp. Yes. Yes. I think it's fun. I mean
It's for the Gen Z. It is. It's cool. I don't think I'm ever gonna drop my kids off there, but you know, but it's
 Yeah
It's all about being relevant to different genres. I just like McDonald's always like it's just always gonna be there
Yeah, you know, I think they will we'll see so slash guns and rainy guns roses fans out there slash is entering the metaverse to host a virtual reality concert
They've joined the metaverse to host a performance in virtual reality artists everywhere seeing SBR and magic mirror as the ultimate
 digital representation of their art
Giving their fans a totally original experience built for the highest levels of immersion
So kind of cool. It's cool. I like it. I love it
 You know is it
Is it actually guns and roses performing or just him? Yeah, it's just him. Yeah
But still, I mean, what does guns and roses without slash? I know, but where's Axel? But they're they've also re-released
 Some vinyls, I believe. Yeah
 God
Sweet child of mine. I was like one of the first like songs that came out. I'm like, oh god. It's so good
Then November rain. Oh, yeah, so good. Oh, yeah, classics classics. We speak real music taste. Maybe not chocolate, but music tastes
 Yeah
Peace offering yeah, there you go. See
And that wraps up our metaverse news. Oh, we go
 Trends in the metaverse
But back to marketing coke cola teams up with marshmallow for limited edition flavor
And that's not just the food marshmallow. That's the artist as well
Coke will release a limited edition flavor in July. So this month that was created in collaboration with Grammy nominated artist
 Marshmallow
The new flavor which introduces strawberry to watermelon to the coke flavor marks the first time the Coca-Cola company has co-created a beverage with an artist
I didn't realize this was the first time. I didn't either
I like this the cans are gonna be the
They're white they're really cool like marshmallow. This is fun makes a lot of sense. Especially with their new
Taste and combinations. Yeah, I've been doing with the platform. So Coca-Cola creations. Do you like marshmallow? I do like marshmallow
I like the artist and I like
Oh, listen, I forget marshmallows, you know, I remember to get like stuffing my face with like marshmallow
I thought you'd get to me in there. He's a little scary
But my brother and I would throw the minis back and forth and try to catch him. He's hey
Here's the you're seeing the marshmallow gun
Yes, I wanted was so badly my mom almost bought them one year for Christmas. Don't peg you man. Peg you the marshmallow
But my kids have a I had one at one point. I don't know what happened to it
I'm gonna just throw them now. I just get hit with the Nerf guns. There you go right in the face
Terms just they love you. Yeah, so that's the UAP right there. Hey, there it is
