 business, marketing, news,
 and stories of the week.
 I'm joined by my friend,
 Mike Kimisabe, Chris Hanson.
 Hello.
 Happy Friday.
 VK lounging or lodging.
 VK lounging.
 Either one.
 Either one.
It looks pretty nice and lounge.
 What's my maybe temperature today?
 Here on November 24th.
Probably like breezy high 70s or 80s.
 Lovely.
 Nice.
 Lovely.
A little brisk here in the Carolinas.
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.
I have a little lighter edition here today.
 We got some business topics.
We're thankful for everyone that's listening first and foremost.
So thank you for tuning in to your number one
business and marketing show on Apple podcasts.
 And I hope everyone
 over eight or under eight.
Whatever your goals were for Thanksgiving.
 I hope they were achieved.
 Are you targeting?
Are you turkey and dressing guy, Chris?
 Yeah.
I'm I want to turkey the cranberry stuffing.
 Yeah, you're all in.
 All the fixings.
 Mix them all together.
All the models in which I'm happy.
 Yeah.
 Are you seeing things?
 Oh, thanks.
 You remember that?
 Where's that corn soup fly?
 Oh, yeah.
 With domestic hand.
 Can you do that now?
 For that.
 Dead, definitely not.
 That would be canceled now.
 Canceled.
The best scenes that movie was like
 stuffing the turkey or something.
 Oh, you stuff.
 Oh, you know, actually,
 you scary move.
 Go what's it's fun.
 That's a good.
 You're on the holiday.
They move you put it on.
 Put it on.
 Yeah, it's good.
Yeah, we went to Nicole's parents as we always do.
And I'm sure we had a good time in full disclosure.
We record this right before Thanksgiving.
But we'll give way all our tickets.
 We're all about transparency here.
We wouldn't have everybody jump on the ball on the holidays.
I don't want that post things
 giving trip to San Coma.
 Exactly.
 It's been real lazy.
I ended up having my moms.
 My wife's moms.
And then my dad's like, we we get it in.
Three turkey dinners over five days.
And then you're on the circuit.
 Yeah.
Then I like to cook like a big
prime, I cook a prime rib like Saturday night.
 Oh, yeah.
 Oh, yeah.
 Don't get the grain.
 Yeah.
 You have a good one.
 They have all that turkey.
 I need some steak.
 Steak.
Steak and maybe a little honey, big ham.
Oh, we'll have already had that.
That's definitely on the Thanksgiving list
 that my wife's parents.
 But it's a lighter edition.
 It's Thanksgiving.
If you're listening the day after,
maybe you're on the treadmill trying to work it off.
Maybe you're driving to work on Monday after the holiday.
You never know when you might be listening to this.
Give it to the holiday support.
It's going to get too serious.
But we did want to bring up even if it's post Thanksgiving.
So it's going to us from EF.com.
Top 10 Thanksgiving traditions in the US.
Some of these could get down with
and some of them I was like,
I really wanted to talk once.
But let's see where this falls for you, Chris.
The first one on the list,
and these are not an order of like,
 popularity necessarily.
But this seems to be like some of the big things
 the airway does.
No more or less is watching the Macy's Thanksgiving day parade.
 Are you a parade watcher?
 Always.
 Yeah.
 Every year.
 Parade's on.
 Then the dog show.
We had to name it the really big dog show.
 Yep.
 Oh, yeah, dog.
 My brother laws.
 They're in the picture.
It's pretty quickly going straight to NFL games
because those boys are exactly on the ESPN bets.
 I had a draft game.
I want to watch a little bit of the parade.
Yeah, what's a little bit of the parade?
 Kids do it.
Like, yeah, there's a nut cracker.
 Oh, here comes the nuts.
That was a line from Chris' vacation.
 They're talking about.
They're watching the Macy's day parade.
 I get the background.
Next on list, break the wishbone for good luck.
 I know what this is.
 I've heard of it.
I can't say I do this on Thanksgiving.
 But is that far?
 Is that you?
I've done it like once in my life,
 and it wasn't on Thanksgiving.
 Yeah.
 I think we've ever won.
 Oh, look.
Yeah, if you end up with a bigger piece,
 you're supposedly your wish.
 You can have a wish.
And if you end up with a bigger piece of the wishbone
when it breaks, when you're pulling it,
 when it gets someone else,
 you get the wish.
 Yeah.
I wish we never do this again.
 Eat it.
I'll never pull from the wishbone again.
The eat a traditional Thanksgiving meal.
 Okay.
The what Thanksgiving day would be complete without that.
I don't care if you're single and at home,
at least get out in one of the many places now.
You can go eat one of those things.
 You gotta get your meal.
 Oh, yeah.
Every restaurant's got things to eat in their menu.
I feel like for the most part now.
Today's episode is not brought to you by this company,
but I'm going to give them a free pub
 because this plays into it.
Guess who's open on Thanksgiving Day?
 Dave and Buster's.
 Dave and Buster's.
 Okay, that shocked me.
 I would say Ruth Chris.
I know that lay there on Thanksgiving Day.
Dave and Buster's is open on Thanksgiving Day.
 I got it.
Look, I am on legend status.
The offer's vitra there quite a bit.
 And
 gold cardinal.
And as they haven't given you like a free cruise or something.
 They owe me.
 They owe me.
You could have been on 10 cruises a year
 for a week.
 The amount you go there.
And we could take it to kids.
 Getting in seven.
 bouncy balls.
Any of them in your house.
You can be on the five day cruise with your four boys.
 I bet you.
It's like ADD paradise for me.
And then the kids love it.
 Of course, and but yeah,
they I got there and get their secret newsletter.
And Dave and Buster's is open.
So you're a little too late.
And next year, if you know,
 that's a little insider tip.
 Dave and Buster's.
 And they said, because look,
 here's what happens.
I'm not any want to watch the full-game.
 But you can get bored.
Could there's nothing to do nowhere to go?
 It's a little entire tip.
Go hit Dave and Buster's or watch this football games.
It Dave and Buster's and game it up a little bit.
Get you some ski ball in.
 Get you some.
Whatever you get from the in-laws.
 Exactly.
Get out of the house because you had some hoops.
 Next on the list.
 Take a nap.
It's one of the top 10 Thanksgiving traditions in the U.S.
 Taking a nap.
 I take that nap.
Gotta get out there and do something.
 Says no Thanksgiving day.
 What's that?
Do you guys do you guys earlier in the day
 or in the evening?
 We eat two o'clock.
 Man, see, I want that.
We do that night and I'm like, I can't even nap.
I just want to go to bed.
 Oh, no, no.
 You gotta have it.
It was three or four latest.
 You can have mid-afternoon.
But then, but you get, you gotta agree.
 One or two o'clock.
 That's the window right there.
 It says after.
Afternoon, Phil was cooking and eating delicious food.
Many retreat to the couch for a mid-day nap.
Turkey is well known for the culprit of the sudden
onset of sleepingness with high levels of the amino acid
 trip to fan.
Hey, we have trip to fan in the VK sleep.
 Yeah, the VK sleep gummy.
 Purpose full plug there.
 Every day is a VK.
Go to take a VK V-A-Y-C-A-Y dot com.
If you want a real sleep gummy, that adds a lot more than just trip to fan.
Take one of those with the trip with the turkey.
 And you'll be like golden.
 You'll be, yeah, good.
 Holiday snooze.
 Yes.
 Have you called unwind?
 What are highest-reviewed products?
Go take a look at that.
 Here's what's next on the top 10.
Let's share what you're most thankful for.
Thanksgiving is a perfect time to reflect on the year
 alongside family and friends.
It's wonderful to hear everyone talk about their favorite moments and experiences
 for the previous year.
I know this sounds like cliche like what it's supposed to be.
I can't help but think but a lot of families.
It's just them bitching about like stuff.
Isn't it like politics and like the family get together?
Did you see what happened with it?
 Yeah, yeah.
I have a hard time conspiracy theories.
 It's politics.
 Yeah.
 I have a hard time.
 Ant baddies really going.
I'm just so thankful for all the things the president did for us this year.
 Or whatever.
Yeah, I've, I usually experience the initial thought out of drama.
 Here's another one.
Watch an American football game and get behind this one.
 This is true.
Usually because there's nothing else to do.
And it's on and look, I'd watch it.
But most people that don't even watch football are watching football on Thanksgiving.
 What is it Detroit Lions?
I get asked Cowboys play every year.
Football is the most popular sport to watch in the US.
And Thanksgiving Day is no exception.
Next on list, this, I don't again,
duplication here on this top 10 list.
 We didn't make it.
 We're just reading.
 Be grateful for friends giving.
Okay, because most people celebrate things.
 I'm thankful.
 Yeah, friends gathering together,
aptly called friends giving is a newer tradition.
It's time to share a meal and enjoy to this company.
Okay, so that's one of the, it's turning into a tradition.
I see a lot of girls doing it, especially.
 They always post about it.
They're always like, yeah, just another excuse to get drunk and talk shit about their husband.
 So let's be honest.
 Yeah, yeah.
Should be the reason that to party.
 Yeah, it should be.
 Drunks giving.
 Yeah, it should be.
Shopped to you drop on Black Friday.
 That's a Thanksgiving tradition.
 So America consumerism.
 Yes, really.
 Shopping to you drop on.
But what's the last time you went out on Black Friday to beat the sale?
 Have you ever?
 Never.
Yeah, I mean, you got it once.
 The internet.
Yeah, like when I was 10.
 All the way camping, I'm on, I'm on, I'm on, I'm on, I'm on, I'm on, I'm on, I'm on, I'm on.
 I'm never doing this again.
 And then I have not, I didn't just, I even 10 years.
If I want to go get in a, like, do you want to get trampled in a fist fight?
Cause that's all I see happening on the internet on Black Friday sales.
Yeah, I can do that at a bar late night.
 I really want.
I don't need it to go to a black Friday shopping for that.
I don't even get a drink if I go to a black Friday.
You just, you're sober and fighting people.
 Man, dude, no thanks.
I'll sign up for two day shipping on prime.
If they put cocktails in the line, like where are you waiting?
Okay, that'd be a good way to attract people.
 He's a huge party.
 It'd be awesome.
And people would spend more money.
 Yeah, that might be nice.
As long as you don't give them two meat drinks,
they'd be nicer to wanting to go to that one.
 Oh, I'm sorry, man.
You know, two drink limit, two different tickets.
Lastly, giving back, this is the final, the top 10.
In the spirit of giving thanks and helping the others,
many communities across the US hold food drives and collect non-parasables
so that everyone has a place to enjoy a warm meal.
I think that they're doing this.
I was just thinking there was more going to be like more, I don't know, certain menu items.
 Right.
 Aunt Karen.
 Talking about something she shouldn't.
Uncomfortable friends family conversations has to be on this list.
 Right.
 Yeah, let's be honest, seriously.
Yeah, you're one crazy, young, cold, blacking out,
 buzzing a scene.
 Yeah.
 There's your top 10.
Thanks for giving traditions in the US.
Hopefully, you're nodding along to some of them.
nodding along by saying yes or nodding along by falling asleep,
but because it's the next day after Thanksgiving, potentially.
 Yeah, listening to this.
Or nodding along because you're having a little noddy toddy.
There's a lot of too much.
 Daddy.
 The
 this article is from blackfriday.com.
Says black friday is a major shopping day in the US occurring.
Yeah, a lot of people are shopping right now.
 So this is good.
This is aired while we're talking right now.
You might be listening in the car racing from store to store.
This is you might be in May season with your AirPods in listening to this right now.
 That's right.
 You should be.
Black friday is a major shopping day in the US occurring on the friday after Thanksgiving.
With many people having the day off,
 except those in retail.
It marks the unofficial start of the holiday shopping season known for discounts and deals
 that started early and earlier.
The term black friday originated in Philadelphia in the 60s due to congested street lines
 during post Thanksgiving shopping.
Black refers to stores moving from loss red to profit black in accounting records.
It became popular as retailers realized they could draw crowds with discounts.
 Who knew?
Online black friday sales are also significant and mobile shopping is on the rise.
You think top products during the black friday include toys, electronics, books, jewelry,
 appliances, and sporting goods.
I think we covered a lot of everything's popular.
 That's on sale.
 Get your best.
I feel like there's your history.
Anything is running on black friday.
 That's interesting.
I had no idea if that was the
and it seems to be it starts there earlier every year.
We're starting to like water down a little bit as far as I think the moment.
We got cyber Monday now, right?
 Yeah.
I've been getting sale messages from for the last two weeks from businesses.
 Yes.
 40% off.
 I mentioned this last week.
I got a deal on TV and like I ain't going lower than that.
And sure enough, I've looked at some of the deals and
has hadn't gone any lower than that.
 So it's okay.
 That's fine.
As long as I get the sale this month, I don't, spreading it out.
Let's be honest with all these channels, you don't want to get all,
you don't want all those orders on the same day.
 Kind of fulfill that shit.
 Is it possible?
 So spread it out.
 Yeah.
Give yourself the ability to actually deliver on the experience.
So I think it helps with that.

 Staley.
 Just like this show.
 Give away our best advice.
Google has put out a gift guide for everyone on your list.
There's a lot of stuff on here.
Do you, are you still at the point, Chris?
I know you're, you've done pretty well and you will have a household all that.
But with your parents or your mom, do you have to send her a list?
Do you send your parents a list of things you want?
 Or does this just?
No, and I will say everyone on my sister's and my parents,
everyone will reach out and ask,
 are you looking for anything?
 But no, I don't send a list.
And even when people ask me, I'm, I'm like, I don't know.
 I don't, nothing.
 Give me some gym shorts.
 I'm 46 years old.
And to this day, my mom and my mother-in-law, actually,
Nicole's mom and my mom were, have some somewhere of traits.
A lot of different traits, but some of some ones do.
 They both send me.
 We need your list.
 And I'm like, yeah.
And look, in my wife's, there's this, like no one can really buy me anything,
because I buy whatever I want.
Like the moment I see it, they're wrong.
I'm not buying million dollar items every day or something or
oh, every single watch that's 50 grand.
 I don't buy it.
 It's not that excessive.
But if I need a pair of jeans, I buy them.
If it's an accessory or something, okay.
 And I need it.
 Okay, I buy it.
 And I don't know.
And it's not because I don't appreciate guests.
But I'm like, really, don't give me anything.
That's why I haven't given you stuff that's boring, like socks.
 Like stuff that I'm like,
I can buy it, but you can just go ahead and knock that one out.
 I've gotten to wear it.
 When you're a kid,
just when you're getting old, it's come full of circle.
Like I'd rather them give me things,
like a food, like my favorite food.
Like something that I can't make or go buy,
 wouldn't think to do myself.
 Something like an experience.
Yeah, an experience or like my favorite food or like a snack or something.
That or that or becomes real practical.
 That makes some socks.
 Yeah.
That seems to fall out with the people that I forget
until it's like, okay, it's time for some socks.
 They're like, okay.
You know what I asked for actually last year?
It was a mic and a boom.
Because you sent me which one to get.
And that was, and I remember that.
I literally sent my mom the link on Amazon.
I'm like, you can give me this.
 Did she?
Yeah, that's a great thing about Amazon now.
 You just send the link.
Then everybody's got the Amazon account.
 Easy.
When you can make a list on Amazon and send a whole list
to somebody if you wanted to, I think.
 Yeah.
 Your own holiday list.
 Nash has a seven-page list.
 Like my son, Nash.
 Damn boy.
 How does he eat?
 Yeah.
 Individualized.
 Very specific.
 Hey.
 Props.
 Yeah.
 Blin knows what he wants.
I respect him and he can make it a season.
 He's got that thing.
 Danny.
 Check that list.
Well, you'll need to check it.
 Page one.
Page two will be what I'll have.
 Clothing one.
 Yes.
 He's got it all detailed.
He's got every link where to buy.
 Yeah.
 It's got diagrams drawn up.
 Go to page three.
And you'll see that I want the Pokemon.
Is it an expensive list or is it a lot of
 little items?
It's carefully collated, curated around not being due to a reward.
Like it's not all $1,000 items or something like that.
It's very specific Pokemon things that he wants.
 And strategic.
 Yeah.
A book, this book, this piece of Legos,
like all this kind of stuff.
 And get some gaming stuff.
 They want some Oculus things.
 They've been playing that shit.
 Oculus.
I was like that as a kid.
It was way easier to be like, oh, I want this N64 game or
 this specific toy.
 So Clemson is South Carolina.
If you live in our neck of the woods, play this football.
That's the rivalry in this area.
And they are playing this weekend tomorrow.
If you're listening on Friday, if you're not, you've, we've passed it.
The former president, Trump, is going to be at the Clemson South Carolina game.
 That that was interesting.
I'm not sure what drew him there other than Henry Mastrick,
 who's a Republican governor.
 That'll go viral.
 Yeah.
 He's going to be there.
You want to see a lot of videos of that stadium going on?
I'm going to have to send him like some orange or something.
He needs to be wearing some orange.
 Didn't he make an appearance?
He made an appearance in some other NCAA game.
I think last year, now I remember when viral,
 because people were going, yes.
 Yeah.
And I don't know why I think he was Clemson again.
I think it was now a Bama game.
 I think you're right.
 Yeah.
He was Bama, Ballburn, but he'll be there.
And as long as he's pulling for Clemson, I'm cool.
I don't know if I had to feel like he needs to pull for South Carolina,
because it's like a, like the state,
 a boo, whatever.
 So that was interesting.
 Into some marketing news.
 This was fun.
 Snoop Dogg is quitting smoking.
It is actually all the campaign for solo,
 stoic quitting the smoke.
 No more smoke.
Solo Stove has appointed Snoop Dogg as its official
 smokesman.
I see what you did there like that.
After his social media tease about giving up smoking turned out to be a partnership
 announcement.
He'll work with Solo Stove on product innovation in a signature product line.
The collaboration marks Solo Stove's first major
 mark national marketing campaign.
 It includes various advertising elements.
So I was looking at this.
Sawyer, our producer was showing me this stove.
Like it doesn't put smoke, no smoke with the fire.
 It's like a little firepainted.
 I didn't know that's cool.
I didn't know you could do that.
 Yeah.
What if they're using like chemicals or something like to suck it in?
Or if it's just a portable stove or you put this like in your guard?
I think it's like they have both options, don't they?
I mean, you can move it around.
Sorry, you can jump on there and tell us.
 Portal.
 Like a camping.
 Portable.
 Yeah, camping.
Why do I throw it around your backyard in one place?
I'm camping and there's smoke coming out.
Hey, you don't want to look.
 I don't want you.
Have you ever been, you haven't built with the smokey,
like you're hanging out at the campfire.
And that shit won't leave you alone.
Oh, yeah, I'm telling that it's miserable.
 It's miserable around.
 Smoke less.
 Snoop Dogg.
I'm just going to tell you, this is one of the smarter
brighter campaigns that I've seen in a while.
Because I have probably a five or a few people that's me.
Did she snoop dogs not smoking him?
 I'm like, that's cool.
All good things coming to an end.
Or what a however you want to look at it.
 Or all bad things.
What's your way to look at that?
And then it's all a ploy.
 Either by talking.
And now I get the punchline.
Oh, it's sort of a lot of conversations.
But this is a creative look.
 Like, all right, cannabis.
 Always about value here, Chris.
 Value actual insights.
 Instead of just hiring.
Here's what they could have done.
It would have been way less interesting and impactful.
He could come out and done all this in one fell swoop
that the whole gag was done within one post or whatever.
 Oh, I'm smoking with.
But then he's tied to the partnership.
But giving it like a week to play out
before giving it away, that's creative.
That's how you that's how you create movement in the market.
 Yeah.
And it's just a little more thoughtful way
for using a spokesperson and influencer
 to rile up conversation.
 So there you go.
When you're thinking about campaigns, you're thinking about these things.
 Go left.
When everybody says this is one of the, this one was very good.
 This was extremely viral.
 Yes.
Like I feel like I've talked to one person every day
 as protested in real life.
 Like, oh my gosh.
 I'm gonna buy it.
 How many people probably posted?
 Man, that's so great.
 Luke's giving up smoke.
 He's mature.
Like all these people probably saying that.
A lot of men that's like it.
And then there was a huge conversation about
what does he know that we don't?
What are they putting in the list?
 Is it the fertilizers?
Like he went out and out there, and then of course, yeah.
Yeah, then you had another group like,
oh, it's because he's lost an edible's line.
People were definitely, there was a phenomenal.
Because it threw people in so many different directions.
But it was just being talked about so much.
 Exactly.
 So really smart campaign
from solosta and look, I'll be honest.
 I didn't know this product.
Now, so now it's hitting my radar.
 And Saugher's influenced me.
And a little bit showing me that he played solo.
 So well played solo.
 I like to know.
That might be on the Christmas list.
How much did I pay him?
That would be something I would not probably buy myself.
But I put on the Christmas list for like, or my mom or something.
 You're like, this is cool.
 Some of the houseboot.
 Hey, could be.
 I don't know.
That shit might burn down the houseboat.
 But it's smokeless.
 Is it heatless too?
I don't understand how you just hear it as smoke.
 I don't know.
But you know what smoke is bad for?
 Not just your lungs.
 It's bad for your skin.
And you know how you take care of skin that might be
getting a little too much smoke and different things.
 You know how crazy.
 Tell me how.
 Our good friends.
 They called their lab.
 Call their lab.com.
The official skin care provider of Ryan offered in the Radcast.

At least it looks like it in my mind.
I did put on my combination.
 I've got secret formulas.
It used to be like as prescribed from the bottle.
I've now got like the secret formulas depending on the occasion.
So I'm mixing in the serum, the ice serum icon.
Just a couple dashes of that.
Then the face lotion that's a little little light pat.
And then the good is supposed to be for night.
But let me tell you, I do a couple drops.
Not the full Monty like a partial dose of that serum.
It gives it a little bit of a light sheen, but not too oily.
So I've got like recipes for the called air labs of now
 depending on the occasion.
 That's what this is.

Of course, and no one's even put water to it yet.

 This is fun.
Pepsi brings back Shaq for a fresh bin on ski lows.
 90s hit I wish.
 Pepsi has partnered with
 the basketball legend Shaq O'Neal.
I just called out of said that Shaq killed O'Neal.
For a new commercial as a part of its 125th anniversary marketing campaign
inspired by the 94 collaboration and features of remix of ski lows 95
hit of the same name I wish.
The commercial humorously depicts the challenges O'Neal faces due to his towering height
 over seven feet.
The campaign promotes Pepsi mini cans and hearts back to the 1984 ad
for the now retired Pepsi big slam product.
 So a little reminiscing.
 Did you remember that campaign?
Or was that even before your time?
 I was alive.
 Barely five.
 Yes.
 Young so big man.
 Yeah.
 Shaq giant.
 I did remember this campaign.
It's so I'm really about the nostalgia for your marketing.
Pepsi does pretty good with their marketing just to be.
They're always the number two player behind Coke.
 We've talked about this.
But they make a lot of money even in position too.
And I do think Shaq's everywhere.
You want some icy hotters and Pepsi here?
 Or Shaqaroni.
Like Shaqaroni at the Papa John's.
 Papa John's.
 I saw that ad yesterday.
 I'm like, dude.
 That's man.
 He is everywhere.
 Good for him.
 My pizza is good.
 The Shaqaroni obviously.
 Exactly.
Two Shaqaronis like giant pepperoni pieces.
 I don't know.
 Check that out.
That goes where friends at marketing dive marketing dive.com.
I think that's all my friends.

You got to get your ass up here and
any other big holiday weekend plans Saturday and Sunday?
 No, hopefully.
Go to the flow and relax.
 I don't want any plans.
I just want to be free.
 Hey, something calls my attention.
 No, me.
I'm going to hang out lounge for a walk.
Check out that Clemson South Carolina Gabe 730.
 Rude on the Tigers.
We need all the support we can get.
 Hopefully,
President Trump will be pulled over to the right team.
 We'll see.
He's got like a murky tire or something.
 I'll be like,
 murk.
 That will see.
 We appreciate everyone out there.
We hope everyone's had a great holiday.
